- 0:00Speaker 1: I have an email of interest. Is it about okay,
- 0:04well up this program?
- 0:05Speaker 2: Oh that's the wrong one, or an email of interest?
- 0:08Sure we could do that, yeah email oh interest.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I got this late last night, says dear Gina. I'm
- 0:19writing to thank you and Carrie and Bill for this morning.
- 0:23I've been listening to you all for the last fifteen years.
- 0:26When my husband then boyfriend introduced me to your show.
- 0:30You've all become my comfort. I usually podcast the show
- 0:34a day behind and reach for it often when I'm stressed, nervous, happy,
- 0:38or just to feel safe. This morning, I was absolutely
- 0:41distraught over the outcome of the election. I wasn't sure
- 0:43how I was going to teach. I'm a math professor
- 0:46at a small community college in Wyoming. I streamed your
- 0:50show live this morning and found the comfort and stability
- 0:53I needed to start my day. You all were honest
- 0:56about how you were feeling, but also helped to bring
- 0:58comedy and distraction from everything. Your laughter helped me see
- 1:02I could show up from my people today anyway. I've
- 1:05always wanted to write a thank you for everything you
- 1:08all do and what you stand for. I'm sure today
- 1:10was particularly difficult to face and show up for your listeners.
- 1:13So thank you, we needed you with us. Here's to
- 1:17continuing to show up, fight in the good fight. Thank
- 1:20you again.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Stay care, Sarah, Sarah.
- 1:23Speaker 1: And I Sarah. I read your letter last night before
- 1:27I went to bed, and it Your letter made me
- 1:31feel better about the day. It also reminded me and
- 1:36I wanted to tell you, Toot. I was reading a
- 1:39lot of texts yesterday and I saw a couple that
- 1:42were kind of in the same vein of like, not
- 1:45only am I sad about the election, but I have
- 1:48to figure out how to get up and go to work.
- 1:50And I told Bill yesterday morning, I don't know if
- 1:52I can do this today. That's how I was feeling yesterday.
- 1:57And Bill made me laugh. On the way to work,
- 1:58He's like, should we just drive to California?
- 2:01Speaker 2: I left.
- 2:04Speaker 1: So I was feeling that way. But I saw a
- 2:06lot of texts from people yesterday who were saying, not
- 2:09only am I said about the election, but I work
- 2:12with a lot of mag of people, and boy, so
- 2:16not only am I dealing with this, but I'm going
- 2:18to have to go to work and these all of them.
- 2:21Speaker 2: They're all such gracious winners.
- 2:23Speaker 1: You know, And I just wanted to thank you too,
- 2:26because I realize how lucky I am that, no matter
- 2:28how bad I was feeling yesterday and not wanting to
- 2:31come to work just because I was upset, knowing that
- 2:35we are all supportive in this room, and knowing that
- 2:38I just I have. I get to spend my day
- 2:40with people that I agree with. I realize that not
- 2:43everybody has that, and I don't take it.
- 2:47Speaker 2: For grantedy you work with people you don't agree with,
- 2:49it tough and jump, you know, you're not just all
- 2:53wimpy all the time. Yeah, it's that's I'm I'm glad
- 2:57that that person felt that way. But doing that for
- 3:01that person who wrote the email, I hope Sarah that
- 3:04you realize that it that it also took away some
- 3:08time I needed to book my trip to Iceland, my
- 3:12one way ticket to Iceland. The weather in Rakuvic is
- 3:15better than it is here. It's forty five degrees and
- 3:18slightly it's drizzly, but it's but it's still warmer.
- 3:21Speaker 1: And and speaking about showing up for people, though I
- 3:25was talking to Muhammad last night, my son, not the prophet.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Maybe you should talking to that, although you should talk
- 3:30to the prophet a little more often.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Maybe, And he was so cute. He came home from
- 3:35school and he's like, man, all the girls at school
- 3:37were so upset and worried today. And it's it's important,
- 3:42especially for young men, I think, to be there for
- 3:48their friends and and and girls at school. And and
- 3:53I told him, and he understands. But I said, if
- 3:56if your other friends need help, you know understanding why
- 4:00this is so upsetting for girls in particular, I said,
- 4:04picture if on the ballot this time for for boys.
- 4:11Here's here's what is going to become a national law.
- 4:15All boys, the minute they hit puberty have a vasectomy.
- 4:19You have to have a vasecto me, it's not your choice.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Wait, this is the law. Is that I was miss something.
- 4:25Speaker 1: You have to have a vasectomy. And it can only
- 4:28be reversed when the government decides that it is okay
- 4:33for you to have children.
- 4:36Speaker 2: It would be.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I don't think men think about.
- 4:39Speaker 2: It, No, they don't. That's that's that's that's most of
- 4:42the problem is the lack of empathy. I've never thought
- 4:46about it until just now.
- 4:48Speaker 1: But I am. I am so heartened by my son
- 4:52and and his his friends at school, who are all like, Oh,
- 4:56we feel bad for girls in particular right now, so
- 4:59I appreciate.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I got home and my son went, ha, told you,
- 5:04I'm not kidding, told you. I said, son, I don't
- 5:10want to talk with you about this. We don't need
- 5:13you know. I love you, wh I know, and and
- 5:16you love me? Yeah I do. Let's not talk about this.
- 5:20Oh okay, you can keep this up or there's the door. Yeah,
- 5:24he's yeah, he likes to he likes to provoke. Do
- 5:28you I wonder where he gets that. It's sort of in
- 5:33a different way. Yeah, kind of a different way.
- 5:37Speaker 1: But I guess I just want to say to Sarah
- 5:39and everybody else, as much as it was nice to
- 5:42hear thank you that that we were here for you,
- 5:46you are here for us too. We're all this is
- 5:48a two way street, and we appreciate you for sticking
- 5:52with us.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and we we would also like your If you
- 5:54would spend money on our advertisers, then I can afford
- 5:58to go to the Iceland. I can do the show
- 6:01from there. I wonder what the time difference is email
- 6:06I'll int
