- 0:00Speaker 1: Got to have a recharge day at off day at home,
- 0:02Speaker 1: which doesn't happen often in the Major league season.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hello, sir, Yeah, it's great to be home. That was
- 0:09Speaker 2: a very long trip. So my favorite thing after a
- 0:14Speaker 2: long trip like that the plane ride, is just to
- 0:17Speaker 2: walk up the planet take a deep breath, because there's
- 0:19Speaker 2: nothing like the Northwest there. The temperatures are normal here,
- 0:23Speaker 2: it's very pleasant. It's just great to walk around. It's fabulous.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I know the feeling, man, but you're right, there is
- 0:30Speaker 1: a difference in just the purity of the air here.
- 0:33Speaker 1: And I know we're in an urban settlement, it's somewhat polluted,
- 0:35Speaker 1: but you're right, it is different here. Just when you
- 0:38Speaker 1: get off, you're like, this is a refreshing I'm breathing
- 0:41Speaker 1: refreshing air in the Northwest.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I know those long East coast where it's humidity and
- 0:46Speaker 2: hot and you just feel gross most of the time.
- 0:49Speaker 2: This is so much better, so much better.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You mentioned the long road trip more ways than one,
- 0:55Speaker 1: four and six. Is it injuries? The bullpen? I mean,
- 1:00Speaker 1: was there a common theme to those six losses in
- 1:02Speaker 1: ten games? Gary?
- 1:04Speaker 2: Yeah, so I think it started out pretty well. I
- 1:07Speaker 2: know they lost the third game in Detroit, but you know,
- 1:10Speaker 2: they played well, they just coughed it up in the
- 1:13Speaker 2: ninth inning, and then they won the first two games
- 1:15Speaker 2: in Baltimore, and I thought for the most part they
- 1:18Speaker 2: were doing a good job of Hey, Cal's out, Donovan's out,
- 1:22Speaker 2: but still the offense was turning along. Things were going
- 1:26Speaker 2: pretty well. But as the trip went on, it's just
- 1:29Speaker 2: one guy going down after another. Was Brash, it was
- 1:32Speaker 2: Chris Well, a couple of guys out of the pen,
- 1:34Speaker 2: and then you looked up the final game of the
- 1:36Speaker 2: series and it's like, oh, Rosarina is out, Col's out,
- 1:40Speaker 2: JP's out. He was lost during the trip, Donovan's out,
- 1:43Speaker 2: Naylor goes out of the game. You know, at some point,
- 1:46Speaker 2: it just becomes a lot to overcome. There's just a
- 1:49Speaker 2: reality to it. I know, talking sports is always next
- 1:52Speaker 2: mine up that sort of thing, and that's great, that's
- 1:54Speaker 2: good to see, and you can do that to a
- 1:58Speaker 2: certain point. But when you start to remove four or
- 2:01Speaker 2: five guys out of what is supposed to be your
- 2:04Speaker 2: starting lineup, I think that's really hard to overcome and
- 2:08Speaker 2: very challenging. And I think we saw that show up now.
- 2:12Speaker 2: The good news, I think I anticipate tonight there's gonna
- 2:16Speaker 2: be a different story. I anticipate Cal being back and
- 2:19Speaker 2: JP being back, and hopefully Randy's back in the lineup.
- 2:22Speaker 2: So I think things will feel very different in the
- 2:25Speaker 2: lineup tonight compared to the last few games on the trip.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Gary, I want to jump a little bit ahead, not
- 2:32Speaker 3: too much, but anyone has the goal for this team
- 2:35Speaker 3: to make the World Series and hopefully win it. But
- 2:37Speaker 3: what's the one thing about this Mariners team that maybe
- 2:40Speaker 3: fans might not be talking about enough that could have
- 2:43Speaker 3: a major impact on whether on when they make that
- 2:46Speaker 3: postseason run.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Yeah, so I was.
- 2:50Speaker 2: You know, it's funny because you asked me about the injuries.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I think you know, when I have watched this team
- 2:55Speaker 2: play out the last couple of weeks, I'm very encouraged
- 3:00Speaker 2: about what this offense is going to look like when
- 3:03Speaker 2: they get their guys back, because the reason why they
- 3:05Speaker 2: were still scoring runs despite Calan Donovan and JP some
- 3:10Speaker 2: other big bats out is you have some guys like
- 3:13Speaker 2: can Zone and Railey for example, are just feasting on rioties,
- 3:18Speaker 2: destroying rieties. And then you have Cole Young that's been
- 3:21Speaker 2: very steady, and Cole Emerson has provided a lot of
- 3:24Speaker 2: pop for the Mariners, and so when I think about
- 3:27Speaker 2: what this lineup looks like healthy, it's pretty exciting because
- 3:32Speaker 2: those are guys that are going to be toward the
- 3:34Speaker 2: bottom of the lineup, and so I think this lineup
- 3:36Speaker 2: has a chance to be very good and very deep
- 3:40Speaker 2: and perhaps you know, a top five ish type of
- 3:43Speaker 2: offense when they get their big bats back. And you know,
- 3:47Speaker 2: I feel like we have not you know, we've seen
- 3:50Speaker 2: a few games here and there with everyone in lineup
- 3:54Speaker 2: by name, but you know, at the beginning they weren't
- 3:56Speaker 2: hitting well, especially in the middle of the order. Cow
- 3:59Speaker 2: but I feel like we still have not seen them
- 4:02Speaker 2: yet in a group and seen what they're capable of doing. So,
- 4:07Speaker 2: you know, despite what was a tough road trip, I
- 4:10Speaker 2: think about what the offense can be given some of
- 4:13Speaker 2: the other guys that have stepped forward. So I think
- 4:15Speaker 2: about that a lot when it comes to a kind
- 4:18Speaker 2: of run this team can make.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Gary Hill, Junior Managers broadcaster, joining us live on the
- 4:23Speaker 1: Beacon Coming Hotline on ninety three point three KJRFM. When
- 4:27Speaker 1: you saw a Rosreena not playing Sunday, did that feel
- 4:30Speaker 1: and have you heard anything around the team about it
- 4:32Speaker 1: being a longer term thing. I think the hamstrings can
- 4:35Speaker 1: be something. Do you think he maybe goes on the
- 4:37Speaker 1: injured list that today is one of the corresponding moves
- 4:40Speaker 1: to Crawford and Raley coming back, or does he maybe
- 4:43Speaker 1: go DH and not play the field as much. What
- 4:45Speaker 1: do you read on that?
- 4:47Speaker 2: He sounded optimistic after the first game, and I'm hopeful
- 4:51Speaker 2: given that he didn't go on the al on the road,
- 4:54Speaker 2: and it's kind of thing You're hopeful that, hey, he
- 4:57Speaker 2: sits out one game, then you have the next game
- 5:00Speaker 2: and then a day off, so hey give him three days, right,
- 5:02Speaker 2: I'm hoping it's one of those scenarios. And you know,
- 5:06Speaker 2: I give him a ton of credit. And it's something
- 5:08Speaker 2: we don't talk about him a lot, but he is
- 5:10Speaker 2: a gamer. He plays, you know, one hundred and fifty
- 5:13Speaker 2: plus games a year. We've seen him do this. He's
- 5:16Speaker 2: really good at playing through things and that is a skill.
- 5:20Speaker 2: He knows if there's a ball hit down the line
- 5:24Speaker 2: in the corner, he knows the exact speed to get
- 5:27Speaker 2: there and not give the guy an extra base. If
- 5:30Speaker 2: he's dealing with something like we saw him deal with
- 5:32Speaker 2: a calf. I think a couple of years ago, and
- 5:34Speaker 2: you know, he just doesn't steal as much, but he
- 5:37Speaker 2: plays and can be productive. So I think he has
- 5:40Speaker 2: the ability to play through a hamstring injury or if
- 5:45Speaker 2: bothering him a little bit, because that is, as you mentioned,
- 5:48Speaker 2: a tricky thing to do, but I think he's capable
- 5:50Speaker 2: of doing it. So I'm hoping he's going to be
- 5:53Speaker 2: back in there today, but I guess we'll find out
- 5:56Speaker 2: later when the lineups come out.
- 5:58Speaker 1: So when JP kraft It comes back, I know he's
- 6:01Speaker 1: worked out at third base yet again on the end
- 6:03Speaker 1: of the road trip with Perry Hill. Do you think
- 6:05Speaker 1: that's where he goes? Does? What does your eyes tell you?
- 6:07Speaker 1: As someone who sees the game every day, he sees
- 6:09Speaker 1: these teams cold. Emerson is short stopped for now until
- 6:13Speaker 1: perpetuate petuity.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I am as anxious as everyone to see what
- 6:20Speaker 2: that lineup looks like tonight, because there's a couple of
- 6:23Speaker 2: things that stood out. Emerson played some really good shortstop
- 6:27Speaker 2: that play with the drawn and infield the diving play
- 6:30Speaker 2: throw home that was a great play. He's shown some
- 6:33Speaker 2: good range. We saw JP take grounders a third a
- 6:37Speaker 2: lot towards the end of the trip when he was
- 6:40Speaker 2: feeling good and healthy, which leads.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Me to believe.
- 6:43Speaker 2: And we talked to Jerry Depoto about this and this
- 6:45Speaker 2: is a real thing. So this feels like pretty opportune
- 6:50Speaker 2: timing to try it out with Emerson having played there
- 6:53Speaker 2: the last few days, JP taking ground balls there. We'll
- 6:56Speaker 2: see how it plays out, but this feels like timing
- 6:59Speaker 2: were a could happen. And I think most importantly too,
- 7:04Speaker 2: wherever they play, it's shown up that JP's bat has
- 7:08Speaker 2: been missing as well, right, you know, he's just such
- 7:11Speaker 2: a pro at bat right, and his ability to get
- 7:15Speaker 2: on base, whether it's at the top of the lineup
- 7:17Speaker 2: or the bottom of the lineup, it's really been a
- 7:19Speaker 2: missing piece for them. So no matter where, if it's
- 7:22Speaker 2: third of it's shortstop, it's wherever the bat will be
- 7:25Speaker 2: super valuable. And I'm super curious to see what it
- 7:28Speaker 2: looks like at third base if that ends up being
- 7:30Speaker 2: the case.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Gary, I want to get your thoughts on number forty
- 7:33Speaker 3: four Julio Rodriguez, and we all know that he got
- 7:37Speaker 3: some really good arm strength. From your perspective, though, what's
- 7:41Speaker 3: the I would say, what is the biggest difference you've
- 7:44Speaker 3: seen in Julio's defensive game over the last three to
- 7:47Speaker 3: four three seasons.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great question. And you know, on this trip,
- 7:54Speaker 2: I thought he had a great defensive trip. And it's
- 7:57Speaker 2: funny if you look at kind of defensive runs saved,
- 8:00Speaker 2: kind of the metrics. He hasn't rated out the same
- 8:03Speaker 2: as he has in years past, but we've seen as
- 8:05Speaker 2: this trip went on, he's just climbing and climbing and climbing.
- 8:08Speaker 2: So I think he's gonna get where he needs to
- 8:11Speaker 2: be at the end. But you know, his whole journey's
- 8:14Speaker 2: pretty spectacular to think about because he was a guy
- 8:17Speaker 2: coming up that hey, he's going to be a corner outfielder,
- 8:21Speaker 2: corner outfielder. He really turned himself into a center fielder
- 8:26Speaker 2: and a premium center fielder in this game. And a
- 8:28Speaker 2: lot of it has to do with his speedwork because
- 8:31Speaker 2: he was not a not known as a blazer coming up,
- 8:34Speaker 2: but he certainly is now. He can fly. This certainly
- 8:36Speaker 2: helps in centerfield covering all that ground, and that's the thing.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I mean, the arm strength has been super impressive. One
- 8:42Speaker 2: of those throws on the trip was ninety six miles
- 8:45Speaker 2: per hour. I mean, that is unbelievable. That is tremendous
- 8:49Speaker 2: arm strength, and he even surprised. You know, when you're
- 8:52Speaker 2: trying to tag at first base to a center fielder
- 8:56Speaker 2: backed up near the wall, you kind of expect to
- 8:59Speaker 2: get there when you can on I think even even
- 9:02Speaker 2: surprised by the throw of the who and least so
- 9:06Speaker 2: you know he covers a ton of ground gap to gap.
- 9:08Speaker 2: We know how good he is at the wall making
- 9:11Speaker 2: leaps there, and the arm strength is just such a
- 9:14Speaker 2: great weapon to have. And it shows up not only
- 9:17Speaker 2: in plays like that, the ones that are eye opening,
- 9:20Speaker 2: but it also shows up by the basis guys don't
- 9:23Speaker 2: dare to take and I think that's where it shows
- 9:26Speaker 2: up the most. And it can be a small thing
- 9:28Speaker 2: or unnoticed at the time, but hey, if you're at second,
- 9:31Speaker 2: I'm not going to third because he's gonna throw me
- 9:33Speaker 2: out and maybe that saves a run down the road.
- 9:35Speaker 2: So I think stuff like that is super valuable too.
- 9:37Speaker 3: One more thing on Julio, because I know you've seen
- 9:40Speaker 3: some behind the scenes habits or routines from Julio, but
- 9:45Speaker 3: could is there anything that maybe can explain why he's
- 9:47Speaker 3: become one of the Mariners. I would say, most complete players.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he works at it. And it's the kind of
- 9:56Speaker 2: thing where you don't he just you know, you watch
- 9:59Speaker 2: the games, you see on TV, you see that sort
- 10:01Speaker 2: of thing. But he's driven and he works at it
- 10:05Speaker 2: all the time. He's still working at his speed. He
- 10:07Speaker 2: works us on his speed all the time. That's it,
- 10:10Speaker 2: like he's just determined to be the greatest he can be.
- 10:15Speaker 2: And he doesn't talk about it. You know, we don't
- 10:18Speaker 2: see it, but it's happening behind the scenes all the time.
- 10:21Speaker 2: He's constantly working at It's not by accident how he's
- 10:24Speaker 2: developed into.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Who he is.
- 10:26Speaker 2: It's work. He's super talented and he has all the
- 10:29Speaker 2: gifts and the skills everything else, but he works at
- 10:32Speaker 2: it all the time.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Gary Hill, junior maners broadcaster, joining us the David. The
- 10:37Speaker 1: Mariners begin a homestand against Baltimore tonight and then Boston
- 10:41Speaker 1: over the weekend. Gary, what's the level of concern with
- 10:45Speaker 1: Andres Munos? Was that precautionary biting back tightness? And for
- 10:50Speaker 1: a guy whose stats say he should pitch more often,
- 10:53Speaker 1: maybe back to back? How you going to do that
- 10:55Speaker 1: with a tight back? I submit, maybe you give him
- 10:58Speaker 1: the cow Rawley treatment and just shelve them for a
- 11:00Speaker 1: few weeks while you're in first place, while it's still
- 11:02Speaker 1: only June. He'll come back refreshed, like Rawley's proclaiming, and
- 11:05Speaker 1: go from there.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, this is this is gonna be interesting to to
- 11:10Speaker 2: to see how he's feeling. This is something that he
- 11:12Speaker 2: has dealt with for a long time, right, So this
- 11:15Speaker 2: is something he's pitched through, you know, when we have
- 11:17Speaker 2: seen him at his best, you know it's something he's
- 11:20Speaker 2: dealt with then. So I guess I'm not overly concerned
- 11:23Speaker 2: because of that, because that's something he's succeeded at a
- 11:26Speaker 2: high level. Uh. It's unfortunate too because he hadn't had
- 11:30Speaker 2: a lot of work at the end of that trip
- 11:31Speaker 2: and that was cut short as well, So he hasn't
- 11:34Speaker 2: pitched a lot recently. And it's always that. I think
- 11:37Speaker 2: it's the hardest line with any relievers, whether they're going
- 11:40Speaker 2: great or struggling. It's you know, you don't they don't
- 11:44Speaker 2: want to You don't want to be overworked. At the
- 11:46Speaker 2: same time, you don't want to be underwork. That fine line.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And the hard part too with with kind of the
- 11:53Speaker 2: a side of the bullpen is you never know when
- 11:56Speaker 2: you're gonna need him next, or need them for two
- 11:58Speaker 2: days in a row or three days in a row
- 12:00Speaker 2: or three or four. It's that dance that you're constantly
- 12:03Speaker 2: trying to do to keep guys healthy but also sharp.
- 12:08Speaker 2: And so it's unfortunate that his last aiding was cut
- 12:12Speaker 2: short because he just hasn't pitched a lot recently, and
- 12:15Speaker 2: he did look better the time before that. I thought
- 12:18Speaker 2: that was a good outing against Baltimore when he got
- 12:21Speaker 2: that safe, and you could see it too with his
- 12:24Speaker 2: body language after he closed it down. He was pretty
- 12:26Speaker 2: fired up after that one, so I thought that was
- 12:28Speaker 2: something to build off of, but we didn't get a
- 12:31Speaker 2: chance to see it because of the back. So hopefully
- 12:34Speaker 2: after an off day he'll be better today. But it's
- 12:39Speaker 2: there's a lot of health questions coming into today, so
- 12:43Speaker 2: that's gonna be another one we'll be watching for. Obviously.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Justin Holland of the GM usually talks about health before
- 12:49Speaker 1: this homestand is he going to like take a three
- 12:50Speaker 1: hour filibuster and just have to start at noon.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Yeah, Everyone get there earlier than normal to listen. Yeah,
- 12:58Speaker 2: it's a I mean, it's a long time in between
- 13:01Speaker 2: two because he does the start of every homestand and
- 13:03Speaker 2: this has clearly been a long trip, so it'll be
- 13:06Speaker 2: great to get some updates there. I assume Bran and
- 13:08Speaker 2: Donovan will have an update too. I think we're all
- 13:10Speaker 2: curious to hear about the timing on him as well.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Garry, you've phoned back into World Cup fever here in
- 13:15Speaker 1: Seattle and you've got a doubleheader Friday. Well, you're trying
- 13:18Speaker 1: to get to the yard. The US and Australia are
- 13:20Speaker 1: going to be leaving Looman Field across the street with
- 13:22Speaker 1: sixty eight thousand people and all kinds of people at
- 13:25Speaker 1: watch parties. First of all, that's really interesting for you.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Are you in Are you interested at all in this?
- 13:30Speaker 1: I know you have a day job, it keeps you
- 13:31Speaker 1: pretty busy on one sport, but is this Are you
- 13:33Speaker 1: curious at all? Are you a soccer guy?
- 13:36Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, no, I'm super curious. It's funny. I've never
- 13:40Speaker 2: been a huge soccer fan.
- 13:43Speaker 1: But there's this.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Mariners fan named Bernie who lives in Leeds and he
- 13:50Speaker 2: shows up once a year. He's a season ticket member essentially,
- 13:56Speaker 2: but he blocks him off for one homestand Flash from
- 14:00Speaker 2: Leeds shows up at one homestand he's been doing this
- 14:03Speaker 2: for years. He became obsessed with the Mariners in nineteen
- 14:07Speaker 2: ninety five, like he watched the playoff run then, and
- 14:10Speaker 2: he's been coming to Mariner games forever since. And so
- 14:15Speaker 2: I've gotten to know him a little bit over time.
- 14:17Speaker 2: So I've become a Leeds fan over time because of him,
- 14:20Speaker 2: and I watched him soccer in the offseason. It's a
- 14:24Speaker 2: fun thing to do. I also like, I love English
- 14:28Speaker 2: soccer announcers, the flowery language, the whole thing. It's phenomenal.
- 14:32Speaker 2: So I love it. So I've become more interested over time,
- 14:36Speaker 2: and it's fun to just for me, it's fun to
- 14:38Speaker 2: just be a fan of something without having to know
- 14:41Speaker 2: exactly what's going on. I can just watch a game
- 14:43Speaker 2: and enjoy it, right, So I enjoy that. But you know,
- 14:46Speaker 2: the World Cup, it's you know, it's one of the
- 14:49Speaker 2: greatest sporting events in the world. And the fact that
- 14:52Speaker 2: Center back yard is incredible. I think Friday is going
- 14:56Speaker 2: to be awesome. I think there's people that are pulling
- 15:00Speaker 2: off the doubleheader and I am so happy for that.
- 15:03Speaker 2: That's something I would love to do. Uh, but it's
- 15:05Speaker 2: gonna be I can't imagine what it's gonna be like.
- 15:08Speaker 2: There are gonna be people everywhere. Uh, it's gonna be phenomenal,
- 15:12Speaker 2: watch parties, it's everything. I think it's great and I
- 15:16Speaker 2: love that it's here in Seattle because we deserve to
- 15:19Speaker 2: have one of the best sporting events in the nation.
- 15:22Speaker 2: So I just can't wait for it. Hopefully WI will
- 15:25Speaker 2: be good. I assume it will be. Yeah, it's gonna
- 15:29Speaker 2: be awesome.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Are you going? I am. I'm fortunate enough to be
- 15:32Speaker 1: covering it. But yes, it's well said, sir. You nailed
- 15:36Speaker 1: it right on good luck and getting in the yard
- 15:38Speaker 1: that day. I might if you might have.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Maybe I'll spend the night.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you might have to. That might be the way
- 15:46Speaker 1: to go. Gary. As always, we always appreciate your insight
- 15:49Speaker 1: someone who's at the club every day. We appreciate you
- 15:52Speaker 1: coming on enjoy the week, and you said it aptly
- 15:55Speaker 1: that Friday is going to be a special day in Seattle.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Thank you, sir.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Thanks Doctor.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yes, Sir, Gary Hill Junior Mariners broadcast as a fabulous job.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Play by play on the road trip with the Mariners,
- 16:06Speaker 1: he says, expect news today, not just on cal Rawley
- 16:11Speaker 1: coming back and JP Crawford potentially coming off the injured
- 16:14Speaker 1: list today, but JP Crawford he thinks the time is right,
- 16:17Speaker 1: that JP Crawford will start at third base tonight. He
- 16:19Speaker 1: didn't come right out and say third base tonight, but
- 16:21Speaker 1: he said he thinks the time is right, and that
- 16:23Speaker 1: Jerry Depoto has said this is real, and that JP
- 16:26Speaker 1: Crawford did take many, many more ground balls at third
- 16:29Speaker 1: base at the end of that road trip in Washington
- 16:30Speaker 1: than they had seen previously, and Gary Hill Junior telling
- 16:33Speaker 1: us he thinks it's going to be the time now
- 16:35Speaker 1: for Crawford to go to third base. Cole Emerson, the
- 16:38Speaker 1: twenty year old rookie, to stay at shortstop, and he
- 16:41Speaker 1: also says it's gonna be interesting to see if Andre's
- 16:43Speaker 1: Munhos is a part of any kind of rostermover injury list.
- 16:46Speaker 1: He does point out that Munhus has pitched through lower
- 16:50Speaker 1: back tightness in the past, but they're already didn't pitch
- 16:54Speaker 1: him one day, which what twice in six days. I'm
- 16:57Speaker 1: not sure what an injured injury list for ten days
- 16:59Speaker 1: stay do to hurt him. I think it would only
- 17:02Speaker 1: help him there in first place. It's June. Why not
- 17:04Speaker 1: work for cal Rawley. Apparently, we'll see what Roley comes back.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Looks like Rally's gonna be in the lineup tonight when
- 17:09Speaker 1: the Mariners play the Baltimore Oriols. At six forty to
- 17:12Speaker 1: begin in the homestand four nine four five, wanted to
- 17:15Speaker 1: talk to Koma Dodge text line. Some comments about Julio
- 17:18Speaker 1: Rodriguez as a center fitter as opposed to the corner
- 17:21Speaker 1: outfitter he was brought up to be as Gary Hill
- 17:23Speaker 1: Junior made that point a lot of comments about the
- 17:25Speaker 1: Brendan Soresby case on whether the NFL should even allow
- 17:28Speaker 1: him in a supplemental draft, and if they do, what
- 17:32Speaker 1: teams would bring him in and why should they or
- 17:35Speaker 1: shouldn't they. We'll go to the text line next and
- 17:37Speaker 1: Ian's gonna be in here. We'll talk to you about
- 17:39Speaker 1: what's on his show from twelve and to noon. Jesse
- 17:41Speaker 1: Ben backing tires back in town. That's neat she's been
- 17:44Speaker 1: in Australia.
- 17:45Speaker 5: Vak Bay, Wow, look at that. She's bad.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Is that what you're calling her?
- 17:49Speaker 2: Not?
- 17:49Speaker 1: Oh? We long joke.
- 17:51Speaker 5: Yeah, she's she's known as vak Bay.
- 17:53Speaker 2: You know.
- 17:53Speaker 1: She just disappears for eons and then returns when she vacates.
- 17:57Speaker 1: She does it correctly, you know what, well earned and deserved.
- 18:01Speaker 1: But you know, I'm sure in August you'll disappear for
- 18:03Speaker 1: a month. I'll be back by week one.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Guys, akb.
- 18:09Speaker 1: If I call a married woman, bak b, that's a
- 18:11Speaker 1: good one. You're a text stup. I'll credit you for that.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Of course you're a text up. Next on ninety three
- 18:18Speaker 1: point three kJ RFM, Welcome Back Greg Rest Show with
- 18:27Speaker 1: Christopher k Live on ninety three point three kJ r
- 18:30Speaker 1: f M. I dropped a kbay on Jessmine McIntyre up
- 18:35Speaker 1: in the sports Pitt just now and she said that
- 18:37Speaker 1: is a well learned title. She absolutely She said, I'd
- 18:40Speaker 1: do it hard and do it right. Yeah, I do
- 18:43Speaker 1: it in her voice though, go I can't. I can't.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Are you saying you can't because you don't want to? Great,
- 18:49Speaker 3: you can't because I don't want to. Oh, look at
- 18:51Speaker 3: this guy. Look at the look at him?
- 18:53Speaker 1: All right? Fair enough? You know what time it is
- 18:56Speaker 1: when you hit that music, it's time to read back
- 18:57Speaker 1: your text at four nine four or five one that
- 18:59Speaker 1: the coma dodge text line.
- 19:01Speaker 5: Where the hell is four to six'? Nine can someone. Six,
- 19:04Speaker 5: YEAH i don't know that's a new.
- 19:05Speaker 3: One can someone please provide an update On Brendan. Donovan
- 19:09Speaker 3: is he in witness propection? Program what's going on? There,
- 19:12Speaker 3: yeah there hasn't been an update That i've.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Read it's In dallas four six. NINE i looked that.
- 19:17Speaker 1: UP i didn't know That Brandon donovan two weeks. AGO
- 19:21Speaker 1: i think before that ten game road trip is When
- 19:24Speaker 1: Justin hollander the start of the homestand said That donovan
- 19:27Speaker 1: would be out and a minor league rehab point at some,
- 19:32Speaker 1: point and we haven't heard anything. Since. Now hollander is
- 19:34Speaker 1: supposed to speak before the homestand begins. Today that's his
- 19:37Speaker 1: custom to update on injuries in the dugout before the series,
- 19:41Speaker 1: begins before homestand, Begins so that was part of What
- 19:44Speaker 1: Gary Hill junior was, saying is that they expect A
- 19:46Speaker 1: Brandon donovan update, soon like within three hours or four
- 19:51Speaker 1: hours from, now before first pitch.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Tonight speaking of, Vacationing marcus text, In i'm vacationing.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Poorly just spent four hours.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Working, yeah, exactly how everyone, say, oh enjoy your time.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Off The seahawks were done last week in mini campus
- 20:06Speaker 1: like Uh, no it's it's it's fun And seattle. SUMMERS i,
- 20:12Speaker 1: mean this is why we live, here right and this
- 20:13Speaker 1: place is, awesome.
- 20:16Speaker 2: All?
- 20:16Speaker 5: Right four two.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Five we are spoiled having A World cup of races nationalities.
- 20:23Speaker 5: In the what is?
- 20:25Speaker 1: Why, YES i don't.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Know in the for, countries even events like The World
- 20:30Speaker 3: cup And olympics and the only chance to see what
- 20:32Speaker 3: people from other countries look.
- 20:33Speaker 5: Like that's one perspective to take a look at.
- 20:38Speaker 1: About Brendan. Soresby there are a lot of you that
- 20:40Speaker 1: put in about no way and one though the two
- 20:44Speaker 1: five three said equate this to alcohol. Syndrome if he
- 20:48Speaker 1: quits and has proven to have, quit doesn't he deserve
- 20:51Speaker 1: a second? Chance they put breathalyzers in, cars just asking
- 20:56Speaker 1: to WHICH i would, respond, yeah BUT i understand that,
- 20:59Speaker 1: thought and, yes if you rehabilitate and you get a second.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Chance but that's you don't put an alcoholic as a.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Bartender you. DON'T a bar doesn't hire an alcoholic to
- 21:09Speaker 1: be a. Bartender and maybe that's a poor analysis or,
- 21:13Speaker 1: analogy but if you're putting a guy who has a
- 21:16Speaker 1: gambling addiction into a sport that is heavily heavily bet
- 21:20Speaker 1: upon in the world THE nfl at a position that
- 21:24Speaker 1: determines the outcome of the game because he has the
- 21:26Speaker 1: ball in his hand every. Play, Now i'm going to
- 21:30Speaker 1: the leap that he would actually be playing in games
- 21:33Speaker 1: and affecting the. OUTCOMES i still don't think AN nfl
- 21:36Speaker 1: team will draft, him or very few will draft, Him
- 21:39Speaker 1: and if they do draft, him it's probably going to
- 21:41Speaker 1: be sitting behind somebody for a long. Time, Right but
- 21:46Speaker 1: they bet on preseason games. Too, Yeah my point IS
- 21:50Speaker 1: i don't think it is a rubicon in THE. Nfl
- 21:55Speaker 1: chris mentioned it at the top of the. Show they
- 21:57Speaker 1: have rules against this and they will throw you out
- 21:59Speaker 1: life time banned the whole. Thing THE nba does, too
- 22:02Speaker 1: and we've seen it with players on the end of
- 22:04Speaker 1: benches that have been thrown out of the. Sport this
- 22:07Speaker 1: is a different deal Than it's sad to, say but
- 22:10Speaker 1: someone brought up that domestic, abuse you're more likely to
- 22:16Speaker 1: be rehabilitated into a second chance in THE nfl than.
- 22:19Speaker 5: This, no he's one hundred percent or he's one hundred percent, right.
- 22:22Speaker 1: It's, true but it's. Sad that's a bad commentary on
- 22:25Speaker 1: a society and sport that you can be equated to
- 22:29Speaker 1: have a second chance and worthy of, one and a
- 22:31Speaker 1: team will do it if you're a domestic. Abuser but
- 22:34Speaker 1: if you're a gambler and you have a gambling, addiction
- 22:37Speaker 1: you gamble on the sport you, plan you. Can't there's
- 22:41Speaker 1: something wrong. There AND i agree that you, can and it's,
- 22:44Speaker 1: True But i'm just, saying in a bigger, picture what's
- 22:46Speaker 1: wrong with our society that we can give a pass
- 22:49Speaker 1: to domestic, abusers that they can go play quarterback in THE,
- 22:52Speaker 1: nfl which they have and DO i. Agree you're, Right,
- 22:56Speaker 1: chris that is true.
- 22:57Speaker 5: From the four to two.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Five unfortunately for the swordsbek, kid he's any chance he
- 23:00Speaker 3: had for AN nfl, career even In cleveland Or New.
- 23:04Speaker 3: York two o six way too, risky considering he would
- 23:08Speaker 3: be participating in an environment where wagering is. Prevalent to,
- 23:14Speaker 3: us go, ahead go. AHEAD i think it might be
- 23:16Speaker 3: the same. ONE i think he deserves a chance in THE.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Nfl from the two. Six his punishment was no more college,
- 23:20Speaker 3: football BUT i would let it be, known no. Tolerance
- 23:24Speaker 3: you mess up once you're. Done Calvin ridley got a second,
- 23:27Speaker 3: chance so there is. Precedent there is precedent With Calvin,
- 23:31Speaker 3: ridley that is, TRUE i WOULD i, mean are we
- 23:35Speaker 3: splitting hairs here by saying it's different Because Calvin ridley
- 23:38Speaker 3: was not a.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Quarterback Calvin ridley is a wide, receiver so he can
- 23:43Speaker 1: affect the plays to come to. Him but if you
- 23:46Speaker 1: have a known gambler with a gambling addiction who is
- 23:49Speaker 1: trying to overcome that gambling. Addiction my point is that
- 23:52Speaker 1: the quarterback in particular is one THAT i would have
- 23:55Speaker 1: red flags with fibers AN NFL. Gm he determines the
- 23:58Speaker 1: outcome of. Games and we don't think in our, country
- 24:01Speaker 1: as unscrupulous as people, are that a better and bookie
- 24:05Speaker 1: or someone in online wagering would not try to get
- 24:08Speaker 1: It Brendan sorosby and tempt him to shave or throw a.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Game if he was a quarterback in THE, nfl even
- 24:12Speaker 1: in a preseason, game they absolutely. Would they would find.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Him that's what we. Are anything for a buck, man
- 24:20Speaker 1: they will absolutely find that. Guy and even if he
- 24:22Speaker 1: wants to be and hope he is rehabilitated and he's
- 24:26Speaker 1: trying to beat his, addiction he will be tempted by
- 24:29Speaker 1: people that will come to him and offer him boatloads
- 24:32Speaker 1: of money to change the outcome of even preseason. Games
- 24:35Speaker 1: that's a fact that should not, happen but it. Will
- 24:39Speaker 1: that's yet another reason why he shouldn't be in THE.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Nfl to, me because of that slippery slope That, toddunkin
- 24:47Speaker 1: The browns coach so aptly put. It two. Six IF
- 24:49Speaker 1: i were AN, NFLGM i would not Select soresby in
- 24:52Speaker 1: a supplemental draft due to the baggage with, him no
- 24:55Speaker 1: matter if we needed a. QUARTERBACK i think that is
- 24:58Speaker 1: sending a message this not him. ME i think that's
- 25:01Speaker 1: sending a message to your locker room as. WELL i
- 25:03Speaker 1: know that's WHAT i know coaches enough to know that's
- 25:06Speaker 1: exactly What Todd munkin was doing by publicly commenting he
- 25:08Speaker 1: knew what he was, doing by saying that he probably
- 25:11Speaker 1: knew he was gonna get. Asked he had an answer,
- 25:13Speaker 1: ready and he wanted his locker room and players to
- 25:15Speaker 1: hear him, say uh, uh that's a slippery slope.
- 25:18Speaker 5: From the four two.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Five this is one of those situations you're only sorry
- 25:22Speaker 3: because you were. CAUGHT i, mean, man all the bets he,
- 25:25Speaker 3: made it sounds like that is definitely the.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Case, yeah that could, BE i mean cynical to save
- 25:31Speaker 1: it true vacation.
- 25:36Speaker 5: Time last one from me from the four two. Five
- 25:40Speaker 5: just got back from two weeks in The. Caribbean we'll
- 25:43Speaker 5: look at you.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Man good job four to. Five that's What i'm Talking
- 25:46Speaker 1: that sounds pretty. NICE i know lots of bartender's are.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Alcoholics four to five, says two six says. Yes And
- 25:53Speaker 1: i'm not trying to comment on alcoholics And. Bartenning i'm just,
- 25:56Speaker 1: saying if you know, that and he's trying to get over,
- 25:58Speaker 1: that why would you put in that? SITUATION i mean
- 26:02Speaker 1: as an, employer do you have a responsibility? Today i'm
- 26:05Speaker 1: just as AN nfl from an employee perspective is What
- 26:07Speaker 1: i'm talking. About, yeah two sixes Hope ian is happy
- 26:13Speaker 1: he Got John twitterrella. Turfed, Ian i'd, say was not

- 31:18Speaker 4: HAVEN'T i haven't heard what your hot takes, are.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Well my hot. TAKES i said that yesterday was one
- 31:24Speaker 1: of the better sporting days In seattle sports. HISTORY i
- 31:27Speaker 1: thought it was an incredible exhibition of the. City the,
- 31:30Speaker 1: stadium the, noise and it's just going to be off
- 31:34Speaker 1: the hook On. Friday it's JUST.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I, UH I i. ECHO i wasn't in the stadium
- 31:39Speaker 4: or down, there BUT i drove along the waterfront to
- 31:43Speaker 4: get to The iHeart studios. Yesterday AND i talked about
- 31:46Speaker 4: that in the first segment yesterday With andrews THAT i
- 31:48Speaker 4: thought the, vibe the, feel just everything around yesterday down
- 31:55Speaker 4: was just, awesome like just you, know just Just AND
- 31:58Speaker 4: i Mean i'm one a lot of like eleven fifteen
- 32:01Speaker 4: along the. Waterfront the majority of those people aren't going
- 32:03Speaker 4: to the, game, right but there were people in Every
- 32:06Speaker 4: jersey imaginable and just having. Fun and the waterfront looks.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Spectacular they did a great job with, that you, know
- 32:11Speaker 4: with no more viaduct building the waterfront And.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Pier sixty two is, fat it's overrun and they are,
- 32:17Speaker 1: limited and the barge costs some, money but it's.
- 32:19Speaker 4: YEAH i got no desire to go on the bro.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Barge but but but everything else looks really. FUN I
- 32:25Speaker 4: i thought it was. Interesting so and this is SOMETHING
- 32:27Speaker 4: i guess only us with the media we. Get so
- 32:31Speaker 4: EVERY nfl game you, get the announcement, comes.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Oh, yeah here we. GO i haven't even brought this up.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Yet i'm got to EVERY.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Pa so every press box and EVERY nfl city has
- 32:43Speaker 4: these things that are announced before the, game and it's
