- 0:10Speaker 1: in the spotlight, and very few ever managed to make
- 0:14Speaker 1: it happen. For those who can't make the cut, it's

- 0:29Speaker 1: new future stars or finding another way to pay your bills.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Our subject today was forced to find a new path
- 0:37Speaker 1: away from her dreams of being a pop star. But
- 0:41Speaker 1: somehow that path took her to black magic and witchcraft,
- 0:46Speaker 1: and it all made her dreams of being famous and
- 0:50Speaker 1: known by all a complete and tragic reality. Warning the
- 0:57Speaker 1: following podcast material intended more mature audience listeners. There turned
- 1:26Speaker 1: you on?
- 1:27Speaker 2: Thank you?
- 1:28Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:29Speaker 2: My name is Ben and I'm Nicole and you're listening
- 1:32Speaker 2: to Wicked and Grim, a.
- 1:34Speaker 1: True crime podcast. Why did you? Why did you kickle
- 1:38Speaker 1: at me?
- 1:39Speaker 2: I don't know. I thought we would redo that, but
- 1:41Speaker 2: apparently we're not.
- 1:43Speaker 1: You don't want to do you want to redo that?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Or do you want to just let people know that
- 1:46Speaker 1: I just turned your microphone on. Let's do it, because
- 1:50Speaker 1: that's what it was, your microphone.
- 1:51Speaker 2: You were about to mute me this whole whole episode.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Well, the whole new intro is throwing me for a
- 1:56Speaker 1: loop a little bit with the audio systems. I gotta
- 1:58Speaker 1: I gotta get used to that.
- 1:59Speaker 2: But people are liking that. I think it's kind of cool.
- 2:02Speaker 1: It's a fun way to actually like introduce the whole
- 2:05Speaker 1: the whole episode in a little bit of a drawing
- 2:09Speaker 1: type way.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I really like it. I it's fun.
- 2:12Speaker 1: It's actually fun to write them too.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Ah.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Sure one. What is really fun though? What our patrons?
- 2:20Speaker 2: Ooh yes they are.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So we got one patron to thank this week. So
- 2:24Speaker 1: today it's all about Tracy Hanks.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Tracy, You're freaking awesome.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Tracy for signing up over on Patreon.
- 2:31Speaker 1: We appreciate the absolute shit out of you.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah we do. You're wicked as fuck, wickedly awesome.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 2: So we had a big celebration on the weekend. We
- 2:42Speaker 2: did tell us it, tell them all about it. We
- 2:45Speaker 2: had our twelve year wedding anniversary whoop, whoop, holy heck.
- 2:51Speaker 2: And then we've also been together like seventeen years, so
- 2:53Speaker 2: it was a big Yeah, that's a big.
- 2:55Speaker 1: We've well you said you for sure, you've had people
- 2:58Speaker 1: jokingly ask but still ask, have you were you a
- 3:01Speaker 1: child bride? Because like we're not super old, we're pretty old,
- 3:07Speaker 1: we're starting to get there. But to be married for
- 3:09Speaker 1: twelve years and be thirty four, yeah I'm.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Thirty three, give it a little bit. But well, yeah
- 3:15Speaker 2: I was twenty one when we got married and you
- 3:17Speaker 2: were twenty two.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, just turned twenty two. So babies, basically little baby,
- 3:23Speaker 1: you were a child bride, but by volunteering, not an
- 3:26Speaker 1: arranged marriage.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah that's what that's what we say.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So we went out and we did photo shoots. We
- 3:33Speaker 1: had breakfast, we had lunch, and we had dinner, didn't
- 3:36Speaker 1: we or No, The breakfast was coffee and then we
- 3:38Speaker 1: went for brunch and then we were dinner.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what we did. And we also we also
- 3:43Speaker 2: had Starbucks to at one point like we just like
- 3:45Speaker 2: lived our best lives.
- 3:46Speaker 1: We did. It was pretty awesome.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Had a photo shoot one for a walk. Oh and
- 3:53Speaker 2: I also forgot about this. So Ben's neck has just
- 3:56Speaker 2: been like fucked, Like yes, fucked is like an understate.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Which is actually why the episode is delayed one day
- 4:03Speaker 1: because I was having serious issues, like researching on a computer.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was it was hurting you.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But I went to physio today, so that's good. I
- 4:11Speaker 1: feel a little bit better.
- 4:12Speaker 2: So anyway, for his anniversary present, I took him to
- 4:16Speaker 2: Sleep Country and we got you a really good pillow.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and then the pillow was by one get one
- 4:23Speaker 1: fifty percent, So I got you a pillow for your
- 4:28Speaker 1: anniversary gift too.
- 4:29Speaker 2: So we basically are oldest in because we got each
- 4:32Speaker 2: other ergonomical ergonomical ergonomical pillows for our anniversary.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Yeah, we old as fuck. Happy anniversary. Here's a pillow.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I god thought it was like pretty
- 4:44Speaker 2: much the most comical shit I've ever It's like.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Those scenes out of a comedy movie where it's like here,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I got you this. Oh my god, I got you
- 4:51Speaker 1: the same thing. That's basically what happened. So yeah, except
- 4:56Speaker 1: we are both there when we bought the pillows and yeah,
- 4:58Speaker 1: but it's still it applies.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I don't know, like this is so sounding old, but
- 5:02Speaker 2: it's like in all reality, like you're sleeping, you sleep
- 5:05Speaker 2: a lot, and like your mattress and your pillows and
- 5:07Speaker 2: stuff should be the shit. Yeah, I really should.
- 5:11Speaker 1: My pillow has been for the last like thirty years.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Shit not the shit.
- 5:15Speaker 2: It hasn't. You haven't had one pillow for thirty years.
- 5:18Speaker 1: But it's like no, but I've just had shit pill Yeah.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I've tried to buy you new ones and then, like
- 5:23Speaker 2: buying someone a pillow without them there is hard. It's hard.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, so got a good pillow now though. Yeah. Also,
- 5:30Speaker 1: I got to roll right back to Patreon here for
- 5:32Speaker 1: a minute. I just realized because today's episode is actually
- 5:35Speaker 1: selected by the lovely members over on Patreon.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like it really won I think, right,
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yeah it was.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I believe it was like forty percent above the rest
- 5:46Speaker 1: or something like that.
- 5:47Speaker 2: So nice.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Yeah that case. You about to find out what it is.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I mean I told you about it a little bit already,
- 5:54Speaker 1: but you're about to find out a lot more. You
- 5:56Speaker 1: ready for this?
- 5:56Speaker 2: I think we're totally ready here.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Okay, well I don't know if you're ready. Are you ready?
- 6:03Speaker 2: I'm ready?
- 6:03Speaker 1: Okay, Well, let's dive into this. I'm not even going
- 6:05Speaker 1: to say the name right of the get go. I'm
- 6:07Speaker 1: going to burst the title of the whole thing. You
- 6:10Speaker 1: can see it in the title of the actual like listening. Anyways,
- 6:14Speaker 1: you're gonna have to wait a little bit, okay, okay,
- 6:17Speaker 1: because we're going to start off with an individual by
- 6:20Speaker 1: the name of Masna Ismail who was born on January first,
- 6:25Speaker 1: nineteen fifty six in Kangar, Malaysia.
- 6:29Speaker 2: New Year's baby, yes.
- 6:31Speaker 1: New Year's baby indeed. Now. She was a young girl who,
- 6:36Speaker 1: like many others today, dreamed of making it big. You know,
- 6:39Speaker 1: the lights, the stage, you name it. She was into dancing, singing,
- 6:44Speaker 1: performing all the time. The whole while. While she was
- 6:49Speaker 1: doing these things, and you know, doing her little I
- 6:52Speaker 1: don't know, child star shows and stuff, she had a
- 6:55Speaker 1: big smile on her face the entire time, plastered across
- 6:59Speaker 1: her face, you know, through and through. She wanted to
- 7:01Speaker 1: become a pop star, and she presented herself as such.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Aw Like, I hope it was there because she was
- 7:08Speaker 2: enjoying what she was doing.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I'm sure she did. She loved it so, but I
- 7:13Speaker 1: mean that's still the persona right like smiles, stand up straight,
- 7:16Speaker 1: that sort of thing. Yeah, no kidding, is that my
- 7:19Speaker 1: chair squeaking or yours?
- 7:20Speaker 2: It's definitely not me.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Maybe I'm moving too much. I don't know if you
- 7:23Speaker 1: guys can hear it, but calm down, calm down into it, Okay. Anyways,
- 7:30Speaker 1: She would later adopt a stage name as she continued
- 7:33Speaker 1: to strive for stardom in her adult life. Her name
- 7:37Speaker 1: would become Mona Fandy. It was a name she adopted
- 7:42Speaker 1: out of the inspiration from her biggest fan, her husband,
- 7:47Speaker 1: whose name was Mohammed nor A Fandy, So she kind
- 7:51Speaker 1: of took that and took Mona out of it. I'm
- 7:55Speaker 1: assuming like Mohammad became Mona and then of course a
- 7:59Speaker 1: Fandy became fan.
- 8:00Speaker 2: That's really cool.
- 8:01Speaker 1: It is. It's almost like a Harry Potter thing with
- 8:05Speaker 1: Lord Voldemort. You know, you don't know.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I don't know what you mean, but I've watched Harry Potter,
- 8:12Speaker 2: so no one get mad at me. For the love
- 8:14Speaker 2: of god, I do like Harry Potter.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Mom, Marvolo, riddle you rearrange ith. Yeah, I am Lord Boldimore.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah see, I'm like, and now you're going to
- 8:24Speaker 2: defend myself. I am into Harry Potter, but I'm not
- 8:28Speaker 2: like as Avid as a fan of Like, that's that's
- 8:30Speaker 2: totally fair.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, regardless though her name is now Mona Fandy. Okay, Now,
- 8:38Speaker 1: together the two did all they could to push her
- 8:41Speaker 1: into the limelight. They even went as far as to
- 8:44Speaker 1: open their own recording studio to get her in front
- 8:46Speaker 1: of a microphone.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Wow.
- 8:48Speaker 1: So it was their own money getting the recording studio
- 8:51Speaker 1: with all the equipment, and they're in that studio. They
- 8:54Speaker 1: produced herself sponsored album because they you know, paid for
- 8:58Speaker 1: it and everything and titled Diana, and she after the
- 9:03Speaker 1: album and everything, even made a few television appearances. Okay,
- 9:07Speaker 1: now I'm going to give you guys a quick little
- 9:09Speaker 1: moment to listen to a little bit of her singing.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I want to know what you guys think, Nada.
- 9:37Speaker 1: So for context, that's like nineteen eighty seven Malaysian pop music.
- 9:43Speaker 1: So I'm not too sure if you're all brushed up
- 9:46Speaker 1: on your nineteen eighty seven pop, you know, culture music stuff.
- 9:50Speaker 1: But for me, I don't think that's half bad.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah no, I thought it was good and honestly too, like,
- 9:56Speaker 2: so good for them for like taking the bowl by
- 9:58Speaker 2: the horns, because people aren't always going to be knocking
- 10:01Speaker 2: on your doors, so you gotta go knock on theirs, right, exactly,
- 10:04Speaker 2: Well done.
- 10:05Speaker 1: You gotta pave your own path.
- 10:06Speaker 2: I love that. Yeah, so like that's awesome. Yeah, they
- 10:09Speaker 2: did this.
- 10:10Speaker 1: They took that initiative. They went out there and they
- 10:12Speaker 1: produced these and like I said, because of this album,
- 10:15Speaker 1: she even made a couple of TV appearances with her music.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Awesome, absolutely awesome.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Now, despite those TV and public appearances, the self published
- 10:26Speaker 1: album didn't exactly push your career like she was hoping to,
- 10:29Speaker 1: didn't put her in the limelight, and she didn't become
- 10:32Speaker 1: well a pop star. It was obvious to Mona and
- 10:36Speaker 1: her husband that she wasn't exactly going to make it big,
- 10:39Speaker 1: especially anytime soon, and the idea of becoming a star
- 10:43Speaker 1: didn't leave Mona's mind. However, was very much still a
- 10:46Speaker 1: dream of hers now in the meantime, just because she
- 10:51Speaker 1: had these aspirations and this dream and something that she
- 10:54Speaker 1: wanted to pursue, it didn't exactly fit well for her
- 10:59Speaker 1: to keep pursuing and that she had to go and
- 11:01Speaker 1: find some other means of income. So the two of
- 11:05Speaker 1: them did, and they did what any reasonable person would
- 11:07Speaker 1: do in this whole situation. Black magic as a witch doctor.
- 11:13Speaker 1: That was their backup plan.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Okay, well, you just like went there, I was like
- 11:19Speaker 2: building up and the building up that was not what
- 11:21Speaker 2: I expected.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I that was completely left field for me too
- 11:25Speaker 1: while I was researching.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Wow, all right, then it's kind of wild.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I mean most people would be like, Okay, I'm gonna
- 11:30Speaker 1: go see if I can find like a labor position
- 11:32Speaker 1: or you know, maybe just like an office job where
- 11:34Speaker 1: it can you know, type in data for a little bit,
- 11:37Speaker 1: or who knows.
- 11:38Speaker 2: What at a coffee shop something, yeah, something.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Just in the meantime, it means some of those jobs
- 11:42Speaker 1: pay well, So I mean hell yeah, yeah, so that's
- 11:46Speaker 1: not what they did. They're like, you know what, fucking
- 11:48Speaker 1: witch doctor. Okay, all right, let let's sure.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I'm very aged to know how this goes down.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Well, I mean it seems odd. Obviously you can't make
- 12:01Speaker 1: a living as like a singer pop star, So how
- 12:03Speaker 1: do you think you can make a living as a
- 12:06Speaker 1: black magic ritualistic can witch doctor? For people?
- 12:11Speaker 2: They must have been into that kind of ad as well, right.
- 12:16Speaker 1: They must have had something to initiate it. Yeah, get
- 12:18Speaker 1: them in there.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Like it's you don't just randomly decide that's what you're
- 12:22Speaker 2: going to do.
- 12:23Speaker 1: That's completely left field. Yeah, you're not like, oh, I
- 12:25Speaker 1: love pop music, it's not working, satan. I guess that's
- 12:29Speaker 1: not what happens, you know. No, so they must have
- 12:31Speaker 1: had some sort of interest, like you say, to push
- 12:34Speaker 1: them this way. So it's I mean, making a living
- 12:39Speaker 1: doing these rituals. It's it's far fetched at best to
- 12:42Speaker 1: think that you're going to just start pulling an income.
- 12:45Speaker 1: But it actually worked, hm. They their new role doing
- 12:51Speaker 1: spiritual rituals, healing provisions of talismans for money. One mona
- 12:59Speaker 1: much more fame than she ever dreamed of.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Really.
- 13:04Speaker 1: It brought her wealth, it brought status, fame, and of
- 13:08Speaker 1: course materialistic things such as mansions and houses like they
- 13:15Speaker 1: were living the good life of course really yeah, of
- 13:19Speaker 1: course though, mind you like, she's not like in the
- 13:22Speaker 1: limelight as she would as a pop star, not cover
- 13:24Speaker 1: of magazines by any means.
- 13:26Speaker 2: And doing autographs and all that jazz.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Probably yeah, but she is definitely living the money life.
- 13:32Speaker 2: So okay, well, I hope you're gonna elaborate on what
- 13:35Speaker 2: exactly they're doing. May any of us want to? I'm
- 13:40Speaker 2: just kidding. I'm just kidding.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I do a little bit here, and I'll try and
- 13:44Speaker 1: explain it as best as I can because it's pretty
- 13:47Speaker 1: vague on the exact type of stuff that they were doing. Okay,
- 13:50Speaker 1: but I do go over some of it, so we'll
- 13:52Speaker 1: touch on it here in a moment. Uh what actually
- 13:57Speaker 1: by touch on it right here? Perfect? Okay. So basically
- 14:01Speaker 1: it was the elite country or the country's elitists were
- 14:03Speaker 1: like knocking on her door to get in. They were
- 14:05Speaker 1: the most wealthy businessmen and politicians who are looking for
- 14:09Speaker 1: good fortune. Essentially, the more money they forked over to Mona,
- 14:14Speaker 1: the more powerful spells and ceremonies she would say she
- 14:18Speaker 1: would be performing, and the better fortune and spiritual healing
- 14:21Speaker 1: they would receive. So essentially what they're saying is, Okay,
- 14:28Speaker 1: we're going to perform ceremonies on you, rituals on you,
- 14:31Speaker 1: whatever it is, and get you good fortune, good healing,
- 14:35Speaker 1: and push you farther in your career, gets you wealth,
- 14:38Speaker 1: and get you status. And that's what these guys are after.
- 14:41Speaker 1: They're after that power and that status, so they're forking
- 14:44Speaker 1: out whatever cash they need to she could pretty much
- 14:47Speaker 1: name her price.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Wow, if only it was that easy, Ah, if only if.
- 14:53Speaker 1: It was that easy, we might be offering that sort
- 14:56Speaker 1: of stuff over on a Patreon for the smooth, smooth
- 15:01Speaker 1: figure of ten thousand dollars per ten second phone call
- 15:05Speaker 1: where we will give you. No, I'm just kidding my word.
- 15:09Speaker 1: If like you say, if only.
- 15:11Speaker 2: If only, I mean, if only, then I feel like
- 15:13Speaker 2: a lot of people would be doing a lot better.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Yeah. So this whole time though, Mona is of course,
- 15:19Speaker 1: just just laughing all the way to the bank. She's
- 15:21Speaker 1: making She's making cash like crazy. Now, I do want
- 15:25Speaker 1: to mention this here before I move on. There is
- 15:28Speaker 1: nothing wrong with spiritualistic beliefs or performing such rituals. I
- 15:32Speaker 1: don't want to throw shade at that. We're joking a
- 15:34Speaker 1: little bit here, because the one thing that is wrong
- 15:38Speaker 1: with it is taking advantage of people, which is exactly
- 15:40Speaker 1: what Mona's doing. Yeah, she's just like, I want to
- 15:43Speaker 1: make money. I want to become famous, and this is
- 15:45Speaker 1: my path to do it. You know, I'm going to
- 15:48Speaker 1: charge a shit ton of money. So that's where I
- 15:50Speaker 1: have a problem with it. I mean, charge your crystals,
- 15:53Speaker 1: look up at the stars. I don't give a shit.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Do your thing, do you? Yeah, that's totally cool.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Well, because honestly, something just even like the power of
- 16:00Speaker 2: believing in something. Oh, yeah, really does make it work, right,
- 16:04Speaker 2: But and in my in my opinion, it's just it's
- 16:07Speaker 2: mostly the power of you believing. But if you're doing
- 16:11Speaker 2: it like kind of unfaithfully to gain yourself, that's maybe
- 16:16Speaker 2: not the best.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Yeah. And like a lot of like witchcraft or Wickan
- 16:20Speaker 1: stuff or all this sort of black magic or whatever
- 16:24Speaker 1: is not necessarily like I joked earlier, with like Satan, right,
- 16:27Speaker 1: it's not necessarily lining up with that, Like even Satanism
- 16:30Speaker 1: isn't lined up with Satan. So it's it's a lot
- 16:34Speaker 1: more like like you say, when you're taking advantage of it,
- 16:36Speaker 1: or when you're going about it the wrong way, that's
- 16:39Speaker 1: when it's it's not cool. And that's when it is
- 16:41Speaker 1: really about like yourself, and it is about selfishness.
- 16:45Speaker 2: And when you're doing it taking advantage and doing it
- 16:48Speaker 2: to some of someone else exactly kind of thing, yeah, exactly.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yeah. And one man she did take advantage of was
- 16:54Speaker 1: a politician by the name of Maslin. There we go,
- 16:59Speaker 1: Maslin Idris. It's not certain who exactly approached who about
- 17:04Speaker 1: their arrangement. I'm going to assume it's Maslan who did
- 17:07Speaker 1: approach Mona about it. But regardless the result is the
- 17:12Speaker 1: same Mona was selling some very specific talismans to them.
- 17:17Speaker 1: There was two of them, to be particular. One was
- 17:20Speaker 1: a cane and another was a traditional hat that was
- 17:22Speaker 1: apparently previously warned by the President of Indonesia, a man
- 17:27Speaker 1: whose name was Sukano. Now apparently there's a bunch of
- 17:32Speaker 1: stuff in the history of this guy as well, but
- 17:34Speaker 1: I'm not gonna be diving into that today. But the
- 17:37Speaker 1: two items were sold to him for the very small
- 17:40Speaker 1: price of two point five million Malaysian ringots, which was
- 17:44Speaker 1: worth about six hundred thousand dollars.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Oh ely shit.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is the kind of stuff she is charging.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And that's a lot of money.
- 17:56Speaker 1: And you know, she's just like going down to the
- 17:58Speaker 1: local flea market and some shit.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Oh no, I mean, but she put herself in that
- 18:04Speaker 2: position to have people believing that she could help them too.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Yeah, Maslin believed her because without a second thought he agreed.
- 18:13Speaker 2: So she's doing something.
- 18:15Speaker 1: She's doing something right, well not right, but she's doing
- 18:18Speaker 1: something to make money. I don't know how to do.
- 18:24Speaker 2: That's wild.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Yeah. So she's swindling, is what she's doing.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Because I'm just like, if you spent that money, I
- 18:31Speaker 2: don't know, like educating yourself or like I have a
- 18:36Speaker 2: campaign or something like, you would just get to where
- 18:40Speaker 2: you want to be too, maybe better, easier, I don't.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Know, over a top hat and a cane.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, I feel like I'm spiraling here, but
- 18:47Speaker 2: I'm like, ah.
- 18:48Speaker 1: No, I know what you mean. Anyways, he paid one
- 18:52Speaker 1: fifth of the cost up front, and the rest he
- 18:54Speaker 1: had gave up some land as collateral as the remainder.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Now what I think here is I don't think he
- 19:02Speaker 1: could afford the full sum, and he's banking on here's
- 19:06Speaker 1: what I can afford. Now here's my collateral. Once these
- 19:09Speaker 1: talismans pay off and I am going far in my
- 19:11Speaker 1: career and I'm getting money, then I'll pay the rest.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I believe that's what his his math was going on there.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Yeah that makes sense.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Yeah, so he clearly wanted to go far in his
- 19:23Speaker 1: political career, and with these he was sure he was
- 19:25Speaker 1: going to make it to the top. But of course
- 19:29Speaker 1: he didn't. Mona clearly scammed him, and soon he would
- 19:33Speaker 1: be wise to her false promises. Once you know, absolutely
- 19:37Speaker 1: nothing changed, everything was the same. He's just shy of
- 19:40Speaker 1: a shit ton of money. This is probably why he
- 19:43Speaker 1: didn't follow through to pay her the rest of what
- 19:46Speaker 1: he owned, because the land was up for collateral, right,
- 19:50Speaker 1: so well, he'll probably end up being some land. But
- 19:52Speaker 1: he still didn't even give her the land. It was
- 19:54Speaker 1: just what he put up front and that was it. Okay,
- 19:58Speaker 1: Now he wasn't getting he wanted, and Mona wasn't getting
- 20:01Speaker 1: what she wanted. Of course the money. Mona told him
- 20:05Speaker 1: there were some issues preventing the talismans from working properly,
- 20:09Speaker 1: and she made up some complete mumbo jumbo about needing
- 20:12Speaker 1: to perform a cleansing type ritual with him so the
- 20:15Speaker 1: magic could actually take effect with the talismans. Now reluctantly,
- 20:21Speaker 1: Maslin agreed to take part. I'm pretty sure you can
- 20:24Speaker 1: get your I'm sorry, I'm pretty sure you can't get
- 20:27Speaker 1: your money back from black magic rituals. And he probably
- 20:31Speaker 1: realized that there's no exact return policy on that sort
- 20:35Speaker 1: of thing, so he probably thought to himself, will have
- 20:38Speaker 1: gone this far, so why not just go through it
- 20:42Speaker 1: and maybe it'll work and hope for the best. You
- 20:44Speaker 1: know what if I got to lose Now, I'm not
- 20:46Speaker 1: paying her any more money up front. She's saying she'll
- 20:49Speaker 1: fix it, and then I'll be rich again, or famous again,
- 20:52Speaker 1: or politically amazing again, and then I'll pay her. So
- 20:55Speaker 1: what does he have to lose? Really? Right?
- 20:57Speaker 2: I know, I was just gonna say that he doesn't
- 20:58Speaker 2: have much to lose unless something crazy happens here. I'm worried.
- 21:03Speaker 1: I'm something crazy happens here. I dun, dun. So they
- 21:11Speaker 1: met up for another ritual on July one of nineteen
- 21:15Speaker 1: ninety three. In the middle of the night, Maslin took off,
- 21:18Speaker 1: not telling his wife, so he could meet Mona in
- 21:21Speaker 1: the remote area of Kumpoun Prak at one of Mona's
- 21:25Speaker 1: many houses.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I already don't like this.
- 21:29Speaker 1: He followed the road and turned off onto a dirt
- 21:31Speaker 1: road and kept going through the forest up a hillside
- 21:34Speaker 1: until he arrived at his destination, the small bungalow nestled
- 21:38Speaker 1: within the woods. There. Inside the house, Mona and her
- 21:42Speaker 1: husband Mohammed met him, and there was also their assistant,
- 21:48Speaker 1: and they had set up an area for the ritual
- 21:51Speaker 1: to be performed. Now, as he walked through the house,
- 21:54Speaker 1: there's items. There's nick knacks all around, and things in
- 21:57Speaker 1: jars and ingredients, lining shells. Very much witchcrafty type. Stuff
- 22:02Speaker 1: much from what you'd expect of someone who would be
- 22:04Speaker 1: living in a house and performs these sort of rituals. Okay, Now,
- 22:08Speaker 1: inside the home was also there was a construction of
- 22:13Speaker 1: a slab that he was apparently told he needed to
- 22:16Speaker 1: lay down on in the kitchen. Now that slab was
- 22:20Speaker 1: dressed with flower petals as part of the ritual for quote,
- 22:23Speaker 1: a flower bath. His instructions were to lay down on
- 22:27Speaker 1: his back and close his eyes and wait for I
- 22:30Speaker 1: quote money to fall from the sky. Now what's going
- 22:36Speaker 1: to happen is as he lays there, they're kind of
- 22:38Speaker 1: like dropping rose petals and flower petals upon him. Right,
- 22:42Speaker 1: So he did his mona and and her husband told
- 22:45Speaker 1: him to do, and they were dropping those petals on
- 22:48Speaker 1: top of him in this flower bath, and he felt
- 22:51Speaker 1: the petals hitting his body and his face as if
- 22:53Speaker 1: it were the riches falling from the heavens. But then
- 22:57Speaker 1: all of a sudden, there was a different feeling, the
- 23:01Speaker 1: feeling of an axe chopping clean through his exposed neck.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Oh no, yep, okay, yeah, I knew it was going
- 23:10Speaker 2: to go somewhere, but I didn't know where it went.
- 23:12Speaker 1: To axe in the.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Neck, Oh my goodness, okay, you good, bruh. I could
- 23:21Speaker 2: hardly listen to that. It's like the anticipation building from
- 23:25Speaker 2: my body.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I was just like losing it the moment I said
- 23:29Speaker 1: the feeling of an axe. You moved away from your
- 23:32Speaker 1: mighty and started cringing before I even said what happened?
- 23:36Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, okay, oh this poor person, Oh my goodness.
- 23:42Speaker 1: So Maslin was quickly reported missing the next day, on
- 23:46Speaker 1: July second, as this took place in July first in
- 23:49Speaker 1: nineteen ninety three, after there was a withdrawal of thirty
- 23:54Speaker 1: thousand ringots, which was then about twelve thousand dollars in
- 23:57Speaker 1: US dollars from a Kula Lumpar bank. Oh geez, which
- 24:04Speaker 1: Kula Lamparp? Sorry, is the area, not the bank specifically,
- 24:07Speaker 1: it's the area, okay. An important clue for the police
- 24:11Speaker 1: as they knew where to start looking.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Now.
- 24:15Speaker 1: As it turns out, the day after Maslin's slaying in
- 24:20Speaker 1: cold Blood, Mona decided that a shopping spree was an order.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Oh you know, I started this podcast feeling and bringing
- 24:29Speaker 2: bad for her. Yep, now I just h is it
- 24:34Speaker 2: get worse? Well, no, it's it's just this one situation, okay, geez.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yeah, so she decided, Yeah, a shopping spree, unbelievable. She
- 24:45Speaker 1: probably felt that the money was owed to her.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Honestly, probably, Yeah, I wouldn't. I wouldn't put it past her.
- 24:52Speaker 1: So she went shopping and even bought herself a Mercedes
- 24:55Speaker 1: Benz and splurged a little extra on herself because you know,
- 24:59Speaker 1: she deserves it, and got a facelift.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Yeah, she deserves it, my ass, she deserves it.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Yeah. So the day after slaying a dude, she goes
- 25:10Speaker 1: withdraws a shit ton of money from his bank and
- 25:12Speaker 1: goes in a shopping spree.
- 25:13Speaker 2: And gets a facelift and a car.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Yeah, a Mercedes.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Wow, real winner right here we got.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Yeah. No, Mona clearly had the fucking, the fucking hootspa.
- 25:23Speaker 1: There we go.
- 25:23Speaker 2: That's the hootspa.
- 25:27Speaker 1: To believe she was gonna get away with it, honestly.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm sure she thought that she was totally
- 25:33Speaker 2: getting away with this. And like you said, she thinks
- 25:36Speaker 2: that that money was completely out to her. She probably
- 25:39Speaker 2: doesn't think she did anything wrong. She didn't get all
- 25:41Speaker 2: the money, so she took his life.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm going to go back a little bit
- 25:45Speaker 1: here because you said that there's something for like believing
- 25:47Speaker 1: in yourself.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I honestly think that she actually believed in her own
- 25:52Speaker 1: abilities and chalked this whole like him dying up to
- 25:56Speaker 1: bad karma like kind of thing for not listening to
- 25:59Speaker 1: her in the place, like he pretty much did it
- 26:02Speaker 1: to himself because he didn't pay her. So it's like, well,
- 26:06Speaker 1: it's bad ju ju on you then that that's my assumption.
- 26:11Speaker 2: It makes sense.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I think she was literally caught up in her
- 26:14Speaker 1: own sharade and she began to believe her own falsibilities.
- 26:16Speaker 1: That's what I think.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I mean a lot of people in those
- 26:19Speaker 2: kind of positions and stuff do, Yeah, they totally do.
- 26:21Speaker 2: It's like I was just came to mind as like
- 26:24Speaker 2: cult leaders and stuff, right, yeah, I mean how.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Else do you explain like using the card the very
- 26:29Speaker 1: next fucking day. She believed she can just get away
- 26:32Speaker 1: with it. She believed that she was fucking magic. That's
- 26:36Speaker 1: what I think.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Anyways, it didn't take long for a break to come
- 26:42Speaker 1: in this case, and it doesn't come from anywhere you
- 26:44Speaker 1: would actually guess or expect. On July twenty second, police
- 26:49Speaker 1: ended up arresting a young man who was higher than
- 26:52Speaker 1: a fucking kite wandering public streets. So a couple of
- 26:57Speaker 1: foot patrol officers arrested him and brought him in. Very
- 27:02Speaker 1: lucky that these foot patrol officers just happened to run
- 27:05Speaker 1: into this individual, and this individual in question just so
- 27:08Speaker 1: happened to be a twenty three year old man named
- 27:12Speaker 1: Jarima who's sin Mona's assistant.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Really yes, oh my goodness. Okay, So at.
- 27:22Speaker 1: This point drama or dry me sorry, Jerimi is how
- 27:26Speaker 1: he say his name. Was only facing a bit of
- 27:28Speaker 1: jail time maybe at worst, you know, maybe a fine
- 27:31Speaker 1: and slap on the wrist, and back in his way. Right,
- 27:33Speaker 1: he's basically just high in public, so okay.
- 27:36Speaker 2: I was just like, that's really all he's done.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it, h okay. However, something had happened when
- 27:44Speaker 1: he was arrested and they began questioning him regarding his
- 27:47Speaker 1: inebriation before he was fully sober. He actually ended up
- 27:52Speaker 1: implementing implication I can't talk today, implicating himself in the
- 27:57Speaker 1: murder of Maslin.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 28:00Speaker 1: His statements were complete, jumbled for the record, they're rambling,
- 28:03Speaker 1: incoherent at first, but the police were able to pick
- 28:06Speaker 1: up some crucial pieces of information and most importantly a
- 28:12Speaker 1: name Maslin Idris hm hm.
- 28:16Speaker 2: So if you got a big juicy secret, don't get
- 28:18Speaker 2: drunk or high or whatever and spill all your means.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Yeah, or just don't get high. You know that I'm
- 28:24Speaker 1: drunk in public and you know, Yeah, substance abuse is
- 28:28Speaker 1: bad kids, let's put it that way. It is, yep,
- 28:31Speaker 1: but yeah, it was basically he just started going off
- 28:34Speaker 1: and confessing to the police about this shit.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Wow.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Yeah, he was confessing to being involved in the disappearance,
- 28:42Speaker 1: which is ridiculous. And because of that, the police pressed
- 28:46Speaker 1: forward and questioned him on the information, and he began
- 28:49Speaker 1: telling them the wild tale of black magic and rituals.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Whoa, Okay, I'm not gonna lie. I do actually really,
- 28:56Speaker 2: I'm enjoying this. You're enjoying this, Like this is good?
- 29:00Speaker 1: What specifically? What do you mean?
- 29:01Speaker 2: Well, it's just hilarious because the next morning or whatever,
- 29:05Speaker 2: when this person is sober, like they're gonna just be
- 29:09Speaker 2: like fuck yeah, like holy shit, and.
- 29:13Speaker 1: This, like this whole case is just a shit show
- 29:15Speaker 1: of just like what the fuck?
- 29:17Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 29:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, and he also mentioned a name Mona Fandy.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Really okay, went all out. Yeah, I just went to
- 29:26Speaker 2: town here.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Yeah, he mentioned Mona Fandy. Oh you know that famous
- 29:29Speaker 1: witch doctor. Yeah her, wow, the one that police already
- 29:34Speaker 1: know who she is, because she's that famous witch doctor. Oh,
- 29:37Speaker 1: the ones who just happens to own the bungalow down
- 29:39Speaker 1: the dirt road that just so happens to be in
- 29:41Speaker 1: the area where Maslin's credit card was used to make
- 29:44Speaker 1: a large withdrawal holy day of his reported appearance. Yeah,
- 29:48Speaker 1: that Mona wow.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Because like, honestly, they might they probably would not have
- 29:53Speaker 2: figured it out otherwise.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Honestly, probably not.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Because I just feel like she probably would have been
- 29:59Speaker 2: very good at bring up her church steps.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, oh, we're going to talk about covering up
- 30:07Speaker 1: the steps here in a minute. But that wasn't everything
- 30:10Speaker 1: that Jarami said, though. He said even more. He claimed
- 30:14Speaker 1: that the most crucial piece of evidence that the police
- 30:17Speaker 1: needed lay waiting to be found at that bungalow. So
- 30:23Speaker 1: him and the officers officer officers to hear that. Yeah,
- 30:28Speaker 1: officers went for a little drive. Mona and her husband
- 30:32Speaker 1: were quickly, of course, arrested, and police went searching the
- 30:36Speaker 1: house for a rickety little shed out back and sure enough,
- 30:40Speaker 1: in this rickety little brick shed there was this evidence
- 30:45Speaker 1: that Jerami was talking about. Detectives opened the building and
- 30:50Speaker 1: inside they found a patch of newly poured concrete in
- 30:54Speaker 1: the center of the floor.
- 30:55Speaker 2: What yep, wow, Okay, my brain had gone somewhere. I
- 31:00Speaker 2: thought they were going to like be dissecting this body
- 31:03Speaker 2: or something using it for their their rafts stuff.
- 31:07Speaker 1: No, no, not quite. There was there was a fresh tomb,
- 31:11Speaker 1: if you will. Let's put it that way.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Interesting though, because I don't know if that would be
- 31:16Speaker 2: like a great way to hide a body. It seems
- 31:19Speaker 2: kind of suspicious.
- 31:21Speaker 1: No, I mean, only if you're looking for a body
- 31:27Speaker 1: a nice cement floor in a shed, I guess why not? Sure,
- 31:34Speaker 1: Either that's not a suspicious thing for me, or I
- 31:38Speaker 1: know a lot of sheds that hold a lot of bodies.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Oh god, Because a lot.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Of people will pour a concrete pad and then build
- 31:44Speaker 1: something on it. Right, it's a foundation, I guess.
- 31:49Speaker 2: So I mean, wow, okay, yeah, okay, make.
- 31:52Speaker 1: A floor in your shed, and then people aren't going
- 31:54Speaker 1: to be the wiser, especially the older it.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Gets, right, Holy heck huh Okay.
- 32:01Speaker 1: So obviously a team was brought in to break open
- 32:03Speaker 1: and search through the concrete. Through digging, they would eventually
- 32:07Speaker 1: find remains six feet down into the dirt. Sorry, approximately
- 32:11Speaker 1: six feet down to the dirt. It was, of course Maslin.
- 32:15Speaker 1: His remains were decomposed and he was chopped up into
- 32:20Speaker 1: eighteen different pieces.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Wow.
- 32:24Speaker 1: The whole of course reeked of decay.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Huh.
- 32:28Speaker 1: But it also contained more than his remains. It also
- 32:32Speaker 1: included things like an axe, knives, other tools and items
- 32:38Speaker 1: that were used and found from the murder scene.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Why the heck did they chop him up into so
- 32:43Speaker 2: many pieces?
- 32:44Speaker 1: Probably for easy disposable you know, carrying out to the
- 32:47Speaker 1: backyard or something like that.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Okay, interesting, or.
- 32:51Speaker 1: As you say, it could be some other ceremonial things
- 32:54Speaker 1: that they were after.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I was like they might be using his
- 32:57Speaker 2: body for things.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I should also say, actually that in the Corner's notes
- 33:01Speaker 1: it was mentioned that the body appeared to have been
- 33:04Speaker 1: partially skinned, which also plays into the whole witchcraft ceremonial things.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Well, yeah, like, okay, if there is a bunch of
- 33:15Speaker 2: jars and stuff in there, don't you picture one of
- 33:18Speaker 2: the jars to be like pieces of skin?
- 33:20Speaker 1: Oh?
- 33:20Speaker 2: Probably one in a mason jar seal that shit.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Up eyeballs and shit, oh yeah, Newts, I have Newt
- 33:27Speaker 1: puppy dog's tails.
- 33:28Speaker 2: There you go.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Which that honestly just shows me that the whole her
- 33:33Speaker 1: believing her own bullshit thing is extremely true because behind
- 33:38Speaker 1: the scenes, guess what they're doing. They're not putting on
- 33:40Speaker 1: a show to anyone. They have a dead body and
- 33:43Speaker 1: they are dissecting it, skinning it. So they're doing this
- 33:46Speaker 1: for their own amusement or their own rituals.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna I'm I think rituals. I'm going with that.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Well, rituals are not though. It's the one thing that
- 33:55Speaker 1: really gets me is they tried to cover their tracks,
- 33:58Speaker 1: and honestly, like I mean, they kind of did a
- 34:01Speaker 1: good job of it, Like I think they could have
- 34:03Speaker 1: like well, you even said they probably would have gotten
- 34:05Speaker 1: away with it.
- 34:06Speaker 2: So I mean, if you're covering your tracks of something,
- 34:08Speaker 2: then you know you did something wrong.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Yeah, other than like you know, the the credit card
- 34:13Speaker 1: thing and having a fucking witness at the scene, you know,
- 34:16Speaker 1: fucking a for effort, I guess.
- 34:18Speaker 2: But they really trusted this assistant.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Oh did they ever? Especially if they know that he's
- 34:24Speaker 1: getting high and wandering the fucking streets. Yeah, everything, they
- 34:26Speaker 1: didn't know. He's getting caught by the comps and spilling
- 34:28Speaker 1: the beans.
- 34:29Speaker 2: No kidding, spilling the beans. Yeah, that's what he did. Yeah,
- 34:35Speaker 2: and he like he is going to be in trouble too.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Well he was actually the one who struck the blow.
- 34:44Speaker 1: He was the one who had the axe.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, seriously. Yes, so they even made someone
- 34:50Speaker 2: else do this the dirty work completely.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Yes, now I should clarify though I don't have that
- 34:56Speaker 1: written in my notes. I remember reading, but I can't
- 35:01Speaker 1: remember the resource for that, so I could be wrong
- 35:04Speaker 1: on that particular piece.
- 35:06Speaker 2: But it makes sense. I bet you they would totally
- 35:09Speaker 2: do that.
- 35:10Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure he was the one with the acts.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Anyways, moving on to their trial, Mona Mohammed and Jeremiah
- 35:20Speaker 1: Drymy were tried before the judge his name was Dat
- 35:24Speaker 1: took Macartar sid In. I believe, I really hope I
- 35:29Speaker 1: said that right. In nineteen ninety five, they were all
- 35:33Speaker 1: charged with murder under section three zero two of the
- 35:37Speaker 1: Malaysian Penalty Code, a crime which carries a mandatory death sentence. Wow, okay,
- 35:45Speaker 1: mandatory good. So if found guilty, mandatory death.
- 35:50Speaker 2: Sentence well, yeah, they took someone else's life quite easily here.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Now, the trial was a absolute media sensation. A famous
- 36:01Speaker 1: witch doctor and her beloved husband in their late thirties
- 36:04Speaker 1: accused of a gruesome voodoo related murder. The entire time
- 36:09Speaker 1: while going to court, Mona wore expensive outfits each day, you.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Know, Oh my gosh, she was using this.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yep, she was looking her absolute best, thrived in the
- 36:20Speaker 1: media attention, and she continued her own ritual that she
- 36:23Speaker 1: had since she was a kid, of always keeping that
- 36:27Speaker 1: beautiful show stopping smile on her face.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Disgusting.
- 36:32Speaker 1: She loved every bit of attention that she was getting, which,
- 36:37Speaker 1: like you just said, disgusting.
- 36:39Speaker 2: So like she just literally wanted to be in the
- 36:41Speaker 2: limelight and she didn't give a shit how or how
- 36:44Speaker 2: she was there really exactly. That is so gross. Like
- 36:49Speaker 2: I am so disgusted right now. Oh tell me, I
- 36:52Speaker 2: was going to eat an English muffin after this. Now
- 36:54Speaker 2: I'm not sure I want to.
- 36:55Speaker 1: That is so oddly specific. I was gonna eat an
- 37:01Speaker 1: English muffin, But now this bitch can fuck off.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Yeah now I'm just like not hungry anymore, all right, Okay,
- 37:10Speaker 2: I don't know how I can top that.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Well. The case lasted sixty five English muffinless days and
- 37:20Speaker 1: heard evidence from seventy six different witnesses. The prosecution told
- 37:25Speaker 1: the court that money was a clear motivation for the
- 37:29Speaker 1: murder and pointed to the shopping spree, you know, having
- 37:33Speaker 1: a big old facelift and a brand new Mercedes Bins.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Jerimi also testified against Mona and Fandi, who's sorry, I
- 37:43Speaker 1: have his last name there, Mohammed so Mona and Mohammed
- 37:46Speaker 1: and revealed the gruesome details of the murder as he
- 37:49Speaker 1: was there himself.
- 37:51Speaker 2: And sorry just to clarify something too, so like witnesses
- 37:54Speaker 2: and stuff, I imagine it's other people that were, like,
- 37:57Speaker 2: I don't know what you call them, clients of hers.
- 38:00Speaker 1: So I couldn't find exactly who these witnesses were, but.
- 38:04Speaker 2: For that many, I feel like some of them are
- 38:06Speaker 2: probably that hey, because there wasn't like any many witnesses
- 38:09Speaker 2: of the crime or anything.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to assume it's a lot of people
- 38:13Speaker 1: business related, you know, who can attest to specifically, since
- 38:17Speaker 1: the motivation is money, motivate like for spending how much
- 38:20Speaker 1: she charged people living the lavish life with her, and
- 38:24Speaker 1: witnessing that sort of stuff, witnessing her business, what she
- 38:26Speaker 1: would do and perform at rituals, So I would assume that, Yeah,
- 38:30Speaker 1: a lot of them are probably going to be clients.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:34Speaker 1: So now, the only defense from Mona and Mohammad was
- 38:39Speaker 1: that he owed them money for the rituals and the
- 38:42Speaker 1: talismans they provided. That's basically the some of their defense.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Well he owed us money, Wow, because that justifies it
- 38:49Speaker 2: completely apparently in their mind, I guess. And they didn't
- 38:53Speaker 2: buy the sounds of it too. They didn't even need
- 38:55Speaker 2: the money, right, No, they didn't, So that just doesn't
- 38:58Speaker 2: make any sense.
- 38:59Speaker 1: No, So, yeah, they pieces of shit.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:05Speaker 1: So it only took seven jury members just seventy minutes
- 39:09Speaker 1: to reach a unanimous verdict of guilty against all three defendants. Yes,
- 39:19Speaker 1: Mohammed and Mona smiled when the foreman of the jury
- 39:23Speaker 1: delivered the verdict on the ninth of February nineteen ninety five.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Why ugh, I don't.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Know, because they fucked up. The judge then passed the
- 39:35Speaker 1: death sentence on each of them. He said that they
- 39:39Speaker 1: would be taken from the court to a recognized facility
- 39:43Speaker 1: aka at prison and later be hanged until they were dead.
- 39:49Speaker 1: After hearing her sentence, Mona said this, I am happy
- 39:54Speaker 1: and thank you to all Malaysians.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Really hey, like by getting this guilty, they would have
- 40:02Speaker 2: known that they were basically going to die. But it
- 40:04Speaker 2: doesn't seem to have bothered them at all.
- 40:06Speaker 1: No. Right here, it says like after her sentence, not
- 40:11Speaker 1: after the verdict, after sentence, after you will be hanged.
- 40:16Speaker 2: We'll be here. He says that now she literally is
- 40:18Speaker 2: going to be famous, like she's famous forever.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that's exactly what she wanted. She was photographed smiling
- 40:28Speaker 1: as she was led from the courtroom to prison. There's
- 40:32Speaker 1: an infamous photo. You look it up, and she is
- 40:35Speaker 1: a big shit eating grim.
- 40:37Speaker 2: I see this.
- 40:38Speaker 1: You don't want to.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I need I'm going to. I'm going to look at
- 40:41Speaker 2: it while I'm eating my English mother.
- 40:45Speaker 1: All right, all right, that'll be one hell of an
- 40:48Speaker 1: English moff. And I guess now. Of course, all attempts
- 40:51Speaker 1: for appeal were dismissed, all three attempts from each individual,
- 40:56Speaker 1: and on Friday the second on November of November sorry
- 41:00Speaker 1: in two thousand and one, in a Kanjang a Kajang prison.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Before dawn, the trio were each handcuffed and hooded in
- 41:10Speaker 1: their holding cells adjacent to the execution chamber, and then
- 41:14Speaker 1: led to the gallows with their three British style nooses
- 41:19Speaker 1: dangling from a big old metal beam.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Oh yikes, yikes.
- 41:22Speaker 1: There they were hanged, and they were left to hang
- 41:26Speaker 1: for an hour before being pronounced dead. A prison official
- 41:31Speaker 1: said the trio expressed no remorse at the pre dawn execution.
- 41:37Speaker 2: M So it's almost like they just accepted it and
- 41:40Speaker 2: they were fine with that.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Hey, yeah, it's like that that's what they fucking wanted.
- 41:44Speaker 1: They wanted the limelight, they wanted the stardom, they wanted
- 41:47Speaker 1: the infamy, which it kind of sucks to talk about
- 41:51Speaker 1: this case in that sense now, Yeah, but also in
- 41:56Speaker 1: that it's like, fuck, you guys. You know, we're gonna
- 41:59Speaker 1: talk about it, and we're going to talk about how
- 42:01Speaker 1: much you guys fucking suck and your big pieces of shit.
- 42:05Speaker 2: And no kidding. Yeah, I'm just like, it's because I
- 42:09Speaker 2: imagine like a lot of people in that moment though,
- 42:11Speaker 2: were just like terrified and oh my gosh, like trying
- 42:14Speaker 2: to figure out how they could like possibly a last
- 42:16Speaker 2: minute get out of this, but they just didn't just
- 42:21Speaker 2: mind blowing.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Yeah, Now, the one nice thing to sum this all up.
- 42:28Speaker 1: After the executions, Maslin's widow, Dateene Farida uh told reporters
- 42:35Speaker 1: that she could finally bury the past, which is.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Like, which is awesome good. I mean because she's like
- 42:45Speaker 2: the main victim here in a sense, because she has
- 42:48Speaker 2: to continue her life and know what happened to her
- 42:52Speaker 2: husband and why he was doing this, and because he
- 42:54Speaker 2: wanted to be successful, and I probably imagine he probably
- 42:56Speaker 2: wanted to be successful like for her and everything. Right,
- 42:59Speaker 2: So that's like a tough pill to swallow.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be something that I'm sure she'll
- 43:05Speaker 1: be thinking about for a long long time to come.
- 43:08Speaker 1: So that is the story about this fucking bitch mona
- 43:13Speaker 1: fandy and her fucking husband and assistant pieces of shit.
- 43:17Speaker 2: No kidding. I did not expect this story to go
- 43:20Speaker 2: that way. No, I mean when you first started, I
- 43:24Speaker 2: was just like, oh, this is interesting, But now I like,
- 43:26Speaker 2: literally do not like this woman whatsoever.
- 43:29Speaker 1: It's very relatable at the beginning, you know, a young
- 43:32Speaker 1: girl who dreams of stardom and be on the stage
- 43:35Speaker 1: and doing what she can to get there and working hard.
- 43:39Speaker 1: But then it just.
- 43:41Speaker 2: It becomes very unrelatable.
- 43:43Speaker 1: And very dark and very twisted. But it also makes
- 43:48Speaker 1: me think, like how long did she have this in her?
- 43:51Speaker 1: Was that smiling at a young age, really innocent wanting
- 43:56Speaker 1: to be a pop star or was that just something
- 43:58Speaker 1: sinister right out of the gate.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Could be Actually I never thought about it like that. Eh,
- 44:04Speaker 2: Like this she was just like a murderer in the works.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Maybe maybe the whole pop star thing was just like
- 44:11Speaker 1: a mask, like a facade, and then you know she
- 44:16Speaker 1: couldn't that facade wasn't getting her anywhere. And then when
- 44:20Speaker 1: she went to the witch doctor black magic thing, she
- 44:25Speaker 1: peeled away the mask and it was just who she
- 44:27Speaker 1: really was, this creepy, fucking, vile human being.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Like what a disturbing story because, like we said too,
- 44:34Speaker 2: like she would have had interest in that, right, Yeah,
- 44:37Speaker 2: you just don't all of a sudden. I think one
- 44:38Speaker 2: day like fail at one thing and like go to
- 44:42Speaker 2: something else and not have had an interest in it.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Well kind of, I mean to be fair. I mean myself,
- 44:47Speaker 1: like I'm undiagnosed, but we pretty much are certain I
- 44:51Speaker 1: have ADHD, right, And the thing for me that I
- 44:55Speaker 1: really get going is hyperfixation. I find something that piques
- 44:59Speaker 1: me interest, I dive into it headlong, headlong, So it
- 45:05Speaker 1: might not be something if I guess anything like that.
- 45:07Speaker 1: She could just have one day heard it from a
- 45:09Speaker 1: friend and then started reading about it and then it
- 45:11Speaker 1: just really piqued her interest and she should do this.
- 45:13Speaker 2: I really think that you make all this money from
- 45:16Speaker 2: it though. Wow, huh that's a wild story. Yeah, interesting,
- 45:23Speaker 2: well done, It's.
- 45:24Speaker 1: A crazy one. Patrons are good at selecting those good ones.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Hey, yeah, they are well. I think a lot of
- 45:29Speaker 2: them too had never heard heard this story covered by anyone,
- 45:33Speaker 2: so that's why it was a big interest in right.
- 45:36Speaker 1: And it's a roller coaster. So I hope that you
- 45:38Speaker 1: guys enjoyed it.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Yeah, my head's spinning.
