Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: It's meat Podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:13Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your guest host Giannis but tell
- 0:17Speaker 2: Us today, joined by Spencer Brody, Corey Seth and Bronson
- 0:22Speaker 2: Strickland Ronson, this is your first time on the show.
- 0:26Speaker 2: How do you think you'll do it? Meat Eater Trivia?
- 0:29Speaker 3: If I do fifty percent, it'll be a victory for me.
- 0:32Speaker 3: I'm terrible at trivia.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Do you ever play along with this show at home?
- 0:38Speaker 3: I have a couple times with graduate students in the truck,
- 0:42Speaker 3: and I always lose.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Even though you're a doctor.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's pretty meaningless trivia.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Uh what if I told you that all of the
- 0:52Speaker 2: questions today are about white tails? Would that make you
- 0:55Speaker 2: feel any different?
- 0:56Speaker 3: A little better? Absolutely? Okay, but also more in barre
- 1:00Speaker 3: when I missed questions?
- 1:02Speaker 2: Yeah, well, as I always hope when I host an episode,
- 1:07Speaker 2: I hope I make them hard, but not too hard,
- 1:10Speaker 2: because no one likes it when I come in here
- 1:12Speaker 2: with a bunch of hard questions. So I think there's
- 1:15Speaker 2: some softballs in here. We'll see now. Normally, this is
- 1:19Speaker 2: a ten round quick show of questions from meat eaters.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking. But
- 1:26Speaker 2: this is whitetail Week, so in honor of North America's
- 1:30Speaker 2: most pursued game animal, every question today is about the
- 1:34Speaker 2: white tailed deer. I was still able to work that
- 1:37Speaker 2: into three out of the four verticals, but fishing stumped me. Normally,
- 1:43Speaker 2: the prize is the five hundred dollars donation on behalf
- 1:45Speaker 2: of the winner, but today that's also different. Today the
- 1:48Speaker 2: winner will get a lifetime membership to the National Deer Association,
- 1:53Speaker 2: which is a fifteen hundred dollars value. Doctor Strickland Ronson
- 1:58Speaker 2: tell folks why they should be member of the National
- 2:01Speaker 2: Deer Association, because.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It is an organization all about deer, all about education,
- 2:08Speaker 3: making people better, hunters, better stewards, advocacy for deer. So
- 2:14Speaker 3: it's just a wonderful organization made up of great people.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I'll give them a little props. I find myself oftentimes
- 2:22Speaker 2: unsubscribing from email lists, so I'm like, I'm not reading
- 2:26Speaker 2: the stuff you're sending the nda I haven't now, I
- 2:29Speaker 2: won't read every article that comes to my inbox, but
- 2:31Speaker 2: there's a lot of them. I'm like, you know what
- 2:33Speaker 2: that could be good for me, and I read it.
- 2:35Speaker 1: They do a very good job of bridging the gap
- 2:38Speaker 1: between biologists like doctor Strickland and hunters like us, and
- 2:43Speaker 1: like giving us good information that will make us better hunters,
- 2:46Speaker 1: better land managers, just like have a better time in
- 2:50Speaker 1: the woods and be more educated about white tails.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yep. Now for the stat of the week, we're looking
- 2:57Speaker 2: at the fat discounts you can get during Whitetail Week. Obviously, uh,
- 3:02Speaker 2: this is a script written by Spencer and he is
- 3:04Speaker 2: just straight up plugging the sale that's going on during
- 3:07Speaker 2: whitetail Week. So now through Sunday, October fifth, a bunch
- 3:12Speaker 2: of our and your favorite white tail gears on sale,
- 3:16Speaker 2: including the first Light Phase Kit, the Core Kit, and
- 3:20Speaker 2: the Thermot Kit all thirty percent off, the Source Jacket
- 3:23Speaker 2: forty percent off. You can get a Moultrie Edge two
- 3:28Speaker 2: Sell Cam two pack for one hundred bucks. That means
- 3:30Speaker 2: you save sixty bucks off of if you're gonna buy
- 3:33Speaker 2: two separately. The FHF Rifle Sling Bundle is twenty percent off,
- 3:38Speaker 2: the Phelps Omega Hybrid Grunt Tube is forty percent off,
- 3:43Speaker 2: And obviously there's a bunch of bunch more. Basically all,
- 3:45Speaker 2: Sam just told me. All meat Eater brands are on
- 3:49Speaker 2: sale this week. You can see the deals at first
- 3:52Speaker 2: light dot com or themeeater dot com. Who's got something, Sam?
- 3:58Speaker 2: What do you what are you excited for this seale?
- 4:00Speaker 2: What do you think is a good deal?
- 4:02Speaker 4: I really like those Moustary Edge two game cameras. Those
- 4:06Speaker 4: are sweet. Get those out in the woods and get
- 4:08Speaker 4: after it. I also there's some some discounts on some
- 4:12Speaker 4: meteor merch that's in the store too good white Tail here.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It has never been easier or cheaper to run a
- 4:18Speaker 1: cell camera than like this very moment on Earth. That
- 4:23Speaker 1: the cams are very good, The prices are cheap, the
- 4:27Speaker 1: the plans to run them monthly are reasonable. If you
- 4:31Speaker 1: own some land, if you'd like have access to land
- 4:34Speaker 1: and sell cams are legal. This is like the moment
- 4:37Speaker 1: to do it if you if you've thought about it for.
- 4:40Speaker 2: A while, Yeah, and if you set them up doing
- 4:42Speaker 2: the solar thing, which I now have. I think on
- 4:44Speaker 2: pretty much all of the cameras on our place, we
- 4:47Speaker 2: have gone so long now without touching or being near
- 4:51Speaker 2: some of these cameras that I'm coming to think that
- 4:54Speaker 2: I have two maybe three year old bucks that have
- 4:58Speaker 2: seen that camera from the day they were born. I'm
- 5:01Speaker 2: not messing around here, and they just simply don't have
- 5:04Speaker 2: that adverse reaction that like when Alston, a three year
- 5:08Speaker 2: old buck, walks by it the first time and he's
- 5:10Speaker 2: just like, you know, locks on the brakes and gives
- 5:13Speaker 2: you the stare down and you don't see him again.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Like these bucks are just like it's just part of
- 5:18Speaker 2: their normal thing, maybe a good thing, and they definitely
- 5:22Speaker 2: don't smell like me anymore.
- 5:23Speaker 1: The Kiling Hoodie is also on sale this week. That's
- 5:26Speaker 1: probably like my most used based layer on the website.
- 5:29Speaker 1: It has I think twelve hundred reviews. It's like our
- 5:31Speaker 1: most reviewed thing, four point eight four stars. So not
- 5:35Speaker 1: only do I love it, but everyone who's purchased one.
- 5:37Speaker 2: What zamebody? This would be a good trivia question. What
- 5:39Speaker 2: was the Kiln Hoodie call? Before it was called the
- 5:41Speaker 2: Kiln Hoodie? Climate no legend that was the fleet one?
- 5:46Speaker 1: Maybe I have.
- 5:47Speaker 5: Origin the LJ is what was that called.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I'm not gonna remembory either right now, but I would
- 5:54Speaker 2: say that that piece while you're thinking, I would say
- 5:56Speaker 2: that piece is what put first light on the map.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Ye like I'm guided multiple hunters that would be wearing
- 6:02Speaker 2: a wool hoodie and I'd be like, what's that? This
- 6:04Speaker 2: is long before I even knew about First Light. Oh,
- 6:06Speaker 2: this is his first light. I still have one of
- 6:08Speaker 2: the like I live in it.
- 6:11Speaker 1: O God, irritate me.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Phil, can you google it for us while we're
- 6:17Speaker 2: talking right now? No, I said it would be a
- 6:20Speaker 2: good trivia question. I didn't say I knew the answer again, Trauma.
- 6:27Speaker 2: You're right. The good work on steel trap memory, which
- 6:34Speaker 2: is why it makes Brody a uh real trivia contender.
- 6:39Speaker 2: White a week again, happening right now first light dot
- 6:41Speaker 2: com biggest sale of the year on our best white
- 6:44Speaker 2: tail specific products. No I F I F a Q
- 6:48Speaker 2: or housekeeping today Other than this fly It buzzed around
- 6:52Speaker 2: us all during the podcast too. It is I'll do
- 6:57Speaker 2: It'll be.
- 6:58Speaker 6: My bonus point to the player who can.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Oh, just Phil's been killing some in the studio. It's
- 7:04Speaker 1: just too many of them.
- 7:05Speaker 6: Get some fly tape in here, Phil, Ye, good, Yeah,
- 7:08Speaker 6: it might be good for acoustics as well.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Phil, you're ready, Yeah, let's do it. The Jennifer Index
- 7:14Speaker 2: today is a four, so our winner should get eight. Correct.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Answers Bronson, if you don't know, Usually it's a Shelby Index,
- 7:22Speaker 2: who is Spencer's wife. She plays before we all play,
- 7:27Speaker 2: and she gets a score, usually double. Her score is
- 7:30Speaker 2: what the winner will get. I ran my questions by
- 7:33Speaker 2: my wife this morning.
- 7:35Speaker 1: She got four right, and after going to the Madison
- 7:37Speaker 1: tailgate tour and the Milwaukee store opening, a lot of
- 7:40Speaker 1: folks now treated as their barometer. That's who they're competing
- 7:43Speaker 1: against each other.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Oh, it's against Shelby.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Or the Jennifer Index or whatever the index is that week,
- 7:49Speaker 1: So it now serves that purpose more than predicting the outcome.
- 7:52Speaker 2: It made me feel good that she got four because
- 7:54Speaker 2: I'm like, it can't be that hard. There we go,
- 7:56Speaker 2: even though definitely a couple she just pulled out of
- 7:59Speaker 2: her rear end. But all good with that. We're onto
- 8:02Speaker 2: the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Look, I need to know what I stand to win everything?
- 8:11Speaker 7: How's just tend to win everything?
- 8:20Speaker 5: Gamon Suckers.
- 8:23Speaker 2: The first question is, as always, multiple choice. It is
- 8:28Speaker 2: also one of the listeners submitted questions this week, and
- 8:31Speaker 2: it was sent in by Kevin Robinson of Missoula, Montana.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Go Cats Go, Griz for sending this great question. Kevin
- 8:40Speaker 2: is Kevin is going to get a board game signed
- 8:43Speaker 2: by the crew. If you want a chance to win
- 8:44Speaker 2: a listener question of the week, then send your question
- 8:46Speaker 2: to Trivia atthemeeater dot com. The question is what antlered
- 8:52Speaker 2: big game species shares the same pope and young minimum
- 8:57Speaker 2: entry score of one hundred and twenty five inches with
- 9:00Speaker 2: typical white tail deer? Is it cou's deer, shius, moose,
- 9:08Speaker 2: black tail deer or dull sheep?
- 9:11Speaker 1: This is a great question.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it is good job Kevin. Kevin had as a
- 9:17Speaker 2: non multiple choice, which I thought was way too hard.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Huh Yanni.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Again, the question is what antlered big game species shares
- 9:28Speaker 2: the same pope and young minimum entry score of one
- 9:33Speaker 2: hundred and twenty five inches with typical white tail deer?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Is it cou's deer, shius, moose, black tail deer or
- 9:43Speaker 2: dull sheep?
- 9:47Speaker 1: P and y.
- 9:49Speaker 5: Gerald, go, p and y Yanni.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I think it? Will you know you're gonna have you
- 9:53Speaker 2: measure it?
- 9:54Speaker 5: Yeah, happy to break out the stretch of tape for you.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I appreciate it. Does everybody have an answer? Yeah?
- 10:03Speaker 1: You don't want tape that stretches, then it would score smaller.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Well, yeah, it's like non.
- 10:09Speaker 8: You measure it and then the usually a string or
- 10:12Speaker 8: a cable, and then you get the stretchy tape out.
- 10:14Speaker 5: You go round up.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Okay, go ahead and reveal your answers. Ronson says black
- 10:21Speaker 2: tail deer, Sam, black tail deer, Spencer, Shiris moose, corey
- 10:24Speaker 2: doll's sheep. Seth hard to read your name there, Buddy
- 10:28Speaker 2: Shyros and Brody Shyris. We have some correct answers. It
- 10:32Speaker 2: is Shiris moose. Good job fellas the Pope and Young.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Minimum for typical coups is seventy inches, typical black tail
- 10:42Speaker 2: deer is seventy five inches, and doll sheep is one
- 10:46Speaker 2: hundred and twenty inches.
- 10:47Speaker 5: Oh see, that's where I was off.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Shiros moose in habit parts of southern BC and Alberta
- 10:53Speaker 2: in Canada, and mountainous regions of Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah,
- 10:57Speaker 2: Wyoming and Colorado in the US. The world record archery
- 11:01Speaker 2: Shiris is one and ninety two inches and was killed
- 11:04Speaker 2: in Colorado. Has anybody in the room gone through the
- 11:07Speaker 2: process of submitting an animal to Pope and Young? Nope, no, no,
- 11:12Speaker 2: I haven't either, So I think maybe with that bowl
- 11:14Speaker 2: of mine, we should do that. We'll have a little
- 11:16Speaker 2: experience with it.
- 11:17Speaker 1: If you had asked me before right now, what the
- 11:19Speaker 1: Pope and young minimum score for a shyris, mooses, I
- 11:22Speaker 1: don't think I would have been within forty inches.
- 11:24Speaker 2: No, me, neither thought of it been way higher.
- 11:26Speaker 5: They don't have small, great.
- 11:27Speaker 9: Big giant scores.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean, like they score them weird.
- 11:33Speaker 2: They do all right. On the question two. The next
- 11:40Speaker 2: question falls into our conservation, vertical and forestry. What does
- 11:46Speaker 2: the acronym dB H stand for? Hmm, well, bone here
- 11:52Speaker 2: from my buddy set I know that doctor Strickland's going
- 11:55Speaker 2: to have this one right as well. The question again
- 11:59Speaker 2: is in forestry, what does the acronym dB H stand for?
- 12:10Speaker 2: Like I said, bones here for Seth and Bronson. Their
- 12:14Speaker 2: boards are down. Everybody else is thinking tv H.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Ask me about BBD and I could tell you.
- 12:28Speaker 2: All day, big bear down. Yeah, that's what I was.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Once again, the question is in forestry, what does the
- 12:41Speaker 2: acronym d b H stand for? This is one that
- 12:47Speaker 2: Jennifer got correct. Just not gonna help anybody.
- 12:51Speaker 1: She's an ecologist, she's an ecologist. Do you have this right, Brody? No,
- 13:07Speaker 1: no good.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Everybody have a question or an answer that's gonna have
- 13:14Speaker 2: an answer.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Questions for sure, Yanni. Have you seen Breaking Bad?
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yes?
- 13:22Speaker 1: This is like the Fly episode of Breaking Bad. Now
- 13:25Speaker 1: in here.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Oh, I don't remember that episode. I didn't see. It
- 13:29Speaker 2: got too long for me.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Oh oh it only got better though, Bud, Well, that.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Might maybe, but when they can't wrap it up, I
- 13:35Speaker 2: don't like it.
- 13:35Speaker 1: The Fly episode was controversial. It was the lowest rated
- 13:39Speaker 1: episode of the highest rated season. Oh, it's a good episode. Yeah, no,
- 13:43Speaker 1: I liked it.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Now I have to go back and watch it. Sam, Oh,
- 13:49Speaker 2: give me a about done rioting. You're drawing pictures.
- 13:54Speaker 9: Look through that dear management thing, se find.
- 13:58Speaker 2: There might be.
- 14:01Speaker 4: I took a couple extra minutes to read that.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Okay, go ahead and reveal your answers. Ronsin says diameter
- 14:08Speaker 2: breast height sam, density by one hundred, spencer, dead buck, habitat, corey,
- 14:13Speaker 2: dig big holes, seth, diameter at breast height brody, deer,
- 14:17Speaker 2: and bare habitat. The correct answer is diameter at breast
- 14:21Speaker 2: height Wow. According to the book Managing Oak Forests in
- 14:25Speaker 2: the Eastern United States, Foresters commonly evaluate the diameter of
- 14:29Speaker 2: a tree at a standard height above ground to ensure consistency.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Because trees have more swelling as you get closer to
- 14:35Speaker 2: the ground, a measurement there would result in a greater
- 14:37Speaker 2: diameter than if you measured two, four or six feet
- 14:39Speaker 2: above ground. So years ago, this standard was developed at
- 14:44Speaker 2: four and a half feet above ground. At this height,
- 14:46Speaker 2: most of the swell is gone, and it is a
- 14:48Speaker 2: convenient height for most adults. In fact, because four point
- 14:51Speaker 2: five feet above ground approximates breast height, the measure has
- 14:54Speaker 2: come to be known as diameter at breast height or DBH.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Tell else why DBH is important to a white tailed
- 15:03Speaker 2: deer hunter.
- 15:05Speaker 3: In terms of managing your forest and in terms of
- 15:08Speaker 3: monetizing the sale of your trees, You've got to keep
- 15:12Speaker 3: track of what is the DBH and the basel area
- 15:16Speaker 3: and the inventory and the board feed, et cetera, et cetera,
- 15:20Speaker 3: so you can figure out either when to thin that
- 15:23Speaker 3: stand for management or the final harvest. So that is
- 15:26Speaker 3: the way that would be the equivalent of boone and
- 15:29Speaker 3: Crocket's score for me and a deer dbh's to a forester.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like when I jumped into that whole
- 15:36Speaker 2: habitat management thing three four years ago. That was like
- 15:39Speaker 2: one of the first things where I was like what
- 15:41Speaker 2: and then basil area kind of falls on the heels
- 15:44Speaker 2: of that, and that was that took a lot longer
- 15:46Speaker 2: to understand than diameter of breast height. But either way,
- 15:50Speaker 2: I feel like it's one of the first things that
- 15:51Speaker 2: you kind of you have to learn when you're looking
- 15:53Speaker 2: at managing the forest. On the question number, well, somehow
- 15:59Speaker 2: my numbers went away. I think it's three. Yes, hope
- 16:04Speaker 2: you guys like this one. How many waypoint icons that
- 16:08Speaker 2: specifically use the term white tail does on X have?
- 16:13Speaker 5: Nice? Huh, great question.
- 16:16Speaker 2: I'll repeat the question. How many waypoint icons that specifically
- 16:21Speaker 2: use the term white tail does on X have?
- 16:29Speaker 1: Well?
- 16:29Speaker 2: I love about it is that everybody here has used
- 16:33Speaker 2: icons that say this. No, haven't you come on never once.
- 16:41Speaker 8: It's been a minute since I've really thought about white
- 16:44Speaker 8: tails when I'm looking at onyx.
- 16:46Speaker 7: But how many.
- 16:47Speaker 9: Cory sees a white tail? He's like, Mark, this is
- 16:49Speaker 9: the wrong place to be.
- 16:51Speaker 5: I grew up hunting, but it's been a minute.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Well, I was telling uh ronson before we got started
- 16:57Speaker 2: that when I first heard that bull bugle on Tuesday.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I was like, Oh, he's in the white tail metal
- 17:03Speaker 2: because there's this one medal that just always has Sometimes
- 17:06Speaker 2: it's a dose and it's a buck, but there's like
- 17:08Speaker 2: always a white tail deer in this spot. And but
- 17:10Speaker 2: today there was a bowl, or that day there was
- 17:12Speaker 2: a nice six point bowl.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I aspire to be as organized as some folks on
- 17:17Speaker 1: on X where I would have a white tail icon
- 17:20Speaker 1: for something, but it's mostly x'es. A lot of them
- 17:23Speaker 1: are red.
- 17:25Speaker 2: My favorite icon to lay down is when I do,
- 17:28Speaker 2: whether it's a white tail icon or a elk icon,
- 17:32Speaker 2: and then I color them black and it has someone's
- 17:36Speaker 2: initials and the date and that serves as where the
- 17:39Speaker 2: spot where that animal died.
- 17:42Speaker 1: My favorite icon is green, because that's what I do
- 17:45Speaker 1: when I have hunting permission on a place. If I
- 17:48Speaker 1: have a lot of green, it's looking up for me nice.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I like it.
- 17:52Speaker 2: All right, there we have an answer written down. It
- 17:54Speaker 2: should be a number again. How many waite point icons
- 17:59Speaker 2: that specifically use the term white tail does ONYX have?
- 18:03Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Bronson eight, Sam two,
- 18:07Speaker 2: Spencer one, Corey two, Seth two, Brody two. We have
- 18:11Speaker 2: one correct answer. It is one which.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Is just buck buck whitetail maybe or maybe doe.
- 18:21Speaker 2: But they don't have they don't use the term white
- 18:24Speaker 2: tail in it. The other deer related icons are named
- 18:28Speaker 2: but dough buck, mule deer, and just simply buck. Obviously. Yeah,
- 18:34Speaker 2: we have other ones that are related, but yeah, only
- 18:38Speaker 2: one that uses the term white tail. Onto the next question.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Which cartridge has produced the most combined typical and non
- 18:51Speaker 2: typical white tailed deer entries in the Boone and Crockett
- 18:55Speaker 2: record books. That's not right time, I thought I messed
- 19:03Speaker 2: up Phil.
- 19:11Speaker 1: M twenty two.
- 19:15Speaker 7: Rim Fire.
- 19:18Speaker 1: At Night would be a problem.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Sam, You're not gonna write one down, I'm thinking. Okay again,
- 19:24Speaker 2: which cartridge has produced the most combined typical and nontypical
- 19:28Speaker 2: white tailed deer entries in the Boone and Crockett record books?
- 19:35Speaker 2: You see how hyphenated white tailed deer? Mm hmm, I'm
- 19:38Speaker 2: just that's just for Pat Dirkin.
- 19:40Speaker 9: That's a good little half a finger, isn't he?
- 19:43Speaker 2: Is he big on that too? Is he? I can't remember?
- 19:45Speaker 2: I think he is. Thanks.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Wait, you you intentionally put the hyphen white tail.
- 19:56Speaker 2: It should be white white hyph tailed. Then I messed
- 20:00Speaker 2: up space dear, you're right.
- 20:02Speaker 1: How do you write it?
- 20:03Speaker 3: Doctor Strickland white hyphen tailed.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I meant to do. Sorry, Pat, like
- 20:09Speaker 2: the honest version we were talking earlier. How it takes
- 20:12Speaker 2: a it takes a strong human to say I messed up,
- 20:16Speaker 2: I'm wrong.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Congrats to you on that.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Everybody have an answer.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Thanks. I bet this cartridge just blows the other ones
- 20:30Speaker 1: out of the water. I would assume it's not close.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I'm guessing that's what I'm hoping too.
- 20:35Speaker 2: It's uh very interesting play for text. Here here to come.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I'm excited.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Sam, no idea. Come on, we'll write a popular Okay,
- 20:47Speaker 2: go ahead and reveal your answers. Ronson says, thirty hot six,
- 20:52Speaker 2: Sam three hundred, Spencer thirty hot six, Corey thirty hot six,
- 20:56Speaker 2: seth thirty thirty already thirty odd six. The room did well.
- 21:00Speaker 2: The correct answer is thirty hot six.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Do you have do you have the top five or something?
- 21:06Speaker 2: I don't quite have top five, but.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I would guess number two is maybe like a two seventy.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Okay, so let me read the flavor text and then
- 21:15Speaker 2: we can discuss thirty hot six has a total five
- 21:19Speaker 2: hundred and fifty five entries. Second place is the twelve
- 21:24Speaker 2: Gates shotgun with five hundred and thirty six. And now
- 21:26Speaker 2: I know it's not technically a cartridge, but I thought
- 21:29Speaker 2: it was worth mentioning as method of take. The actual
- 21:32Speaker 2: second place cartridge is the two seventy. Even more interestingly,
- 21:37Speaker 2: I found that if you add up all of the
- 21:41Speaker 2: different drawways of compounds and include long bows and recurves
- 21:45Speaker 2: because for some reason they like to break it out
- 21:47Speaker 2: by like forty five to fifty five, fifty five to
- 21:50Speaker 2: seventy and seventy up or whatever, if you add all
- 21:52Speaker 2: of those up, that accounts for one four hundred and
- 21:55Speaker 2: twenty entries. So like are hammering, yeah, boone and crockets
- 22:02Speaker 2: with their bows, right. That's also not including the eight
- 22:06Speaker 2: hundred and fifty eight entries from crossbows, which I found
- 22:09Speaker 2: which I found interesting. So like, both of those beat
- 22:13Speaker 2: the thirty because they're hot and during the rut in
- 22:16Speaker 2: some states a lot of states.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I am still surprised that twelve gage would be that high.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Yeah, but I just think there's a lot of shotgun
- 22:24Speaker 2: only states. You know, if you're interested in messing around
- 22:29Speaker 2: with that kind of information. I found this all using
- 22:33Speaker 2: Boone and Crockett's Big Game Records Live Weapon Visualizer, which
- 22:38Speaker 2: is a lot of fun to play around with.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I think you have to be a member though, to you?
- 22:42Speaker 2: You do?
- 22:42Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yep? Was that five? Phil? Was that? That was four? Okay?
- 22:47Speaker 2: Number five? What is the name of the hardened fibrous
- 22:52Speaker 2: tissue that replaces a white tailed deer's upper incisor teeth?
- 22:59Speaker 2: The room looks shocked. Wait, oh, I guess I could
- 23:04Speaker 2: read it. What is the name of the hardened fibrous
- 23:07Speaker 2: tissue that replaces a white tailed deer's upper and size
- 23:11Speaker 2: or teeth?
- 23:11Speaker 1: Bronson doesn't have an answer yet either. It makes me
- 23:14Speaker 1: feel better about not knowing it.
- 23:20Speaker 2: So like the deer doesn't have teeth there, but in
- 23:23Speaker 2: place of those teeth there is a tissue there. We've
- 23:29Speaker 2: all carved it off, probably preparing our skulls for boiling,
- 23:34Speaker 2: and it has a name. This might be the hardest one.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Number six is going to be a softball. Okay, don't
- 23:44Speaker 2: get two down on yourself, all right, Doctor Strickland, Do
- 23:54Speaker 2: you feel like, at times in your life or your
- 23:57Speaker 2: career you have known the name of this fibrous tissue.
- 24:01Speaker 3: No, oh, okay.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I imagine it's the same on an elk. And it's
- 24:09Speaker 2: a little.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Bit of a trick question though, you think, no, big
- 24:15Speaker 3: trouble in little China.
- 24:18Speaker 9: How would it be the same.
- 24:19Speaker 2: On an elk? They have the same thing, then what's
- 24:26Speaker 2: in ivory? Well, those would be like canines or tusks.
- 24:31Speaker 2: But I'm talking like like these teeth here.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Upfronts.
- 24:38Speaker 2: If they don't have those teeth, gotcha instead, there's a
- 24:44Speaker 2: hardened fibrous tissue. The answer is surprisingly simple, but.
- 24:56Speaker 1: You got it, Corey.
- 24:57Speaker 5: I think so. Actually, after that last well hit bit.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Brody's still thinking. I gotta say so when you when
- 25:05Speaker 2: you host a trivia episode, I usually have like a
- 25:08Speaker 2: list of running questions and then Spencer lets me in
- 25:11Speaker 2: on this document that has every question has ever been
- 25:14Speaker 2: asked me to your trivia and if you're lucky, only
- 25:18Speaker 2: like one or two of your questions have already been asked.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I had four that hit me yesterday at like five pm.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Colle give me an example, piebald had been used. Okay,
- 25:34Speaker 2: I'd have to look at the other ones, but yeah.
- 25:38Speaker 1: This is a replacement one that you were you know,
- 25:42Speaker 1: maybe there you.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Go all right, go ahead and reveal your answers. Bronson
- 25:47Speaker 2: says cartilage, Sam bucktooth, that's a good one, Spencer, fang, tissue,
- 25:53Speaker 2: Corey calcium Seth without an answer, and Brody says gums,
- 25:58Speaker 2: that's a zero percenter. Today the answer is dental pad. Well, yeah,
- 26:04Speaker 2: The dental pad acts as a cutting board for the
- 26:06Speaker 2: lower incisors to cut against the hard rubbery pad helps
- 26:10Speaker 2: them efficiently gather large quantities of plant matter by pinching
- 26:13Speaker 2: it between the pad and their bottom teeth. The clip
- 26:16Speaker 2: food then moves to the molars, where it is ground
- 26:19Speaker 2: into finer particles for digestion. Remember that for a zero
- 26:23Speaker 2: percenter and upcoming one dental pad.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Bronton, what do you think of a dental pad? That
- 26:28Speaker 1: was that?
- 26:30Speaker 3: I have heard that the many many many years ago.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Well, when I knew Bronson was coming on, I'm like,
- 26:35Speaker 2: I gotta have a couple of hard ones. All right,
- 26:38Speaker 2: since I was question five, it's time for a scoreboard update.
- 26:41Speaker 6: Phil at halftime, Sam James is not currently on the
- 26:46Speaker 6: board yet zero points. Corey Calkins has one point. I'll
- 26:50Speaker 6: tied up with. Two are Brody Seth and our guest
- 26:52Speaker 6: Bronson Strickland and in first place. Our host, Spencer Newhart,
- 26:56Speaker 6: was three points.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Okay, anybody's game. Anybody's game, Sam, I think you're still
- 27:02Speaker 2: in it big time. All right, on to question number six.
- 27:07Speaker 2: The fish Filay's sweet meat, breakfast loins, weenie loins, and
- 27:14Speaker 2: mud veins are all nicknames for what chunk of meat
- 27:18Speaker 2: in a deer?
- 27:22Speaker 5: Is this an Upper Midwest thing?
- 27:24Speaker 2: Come on, I know you've heard of one of those
- 27:26Speaker 2: nicknames again. The question is the fish filays sweet meat,
- 27:33Speaker 2: breakfast loins, weenie loins, and mud veins are all nicknames
- 27:38Speaker 2: for what chunk of meat in a deer? We used
- 27:42Speaker 2: the fish a lot. Use that term, yep. I think
- 27:46Speaker 2: that's one of the more popular ones.
- 27:49Speaker 1: The fish a sentence.
- 27:55Speaker 2: I know, I think that would reveal the answer. Meat
- 28:00Speaker 2: looks like half the room's feeling pretty confident.
- 28:04Speaker 8: Yeah, it's definitely Upper Midwest Northeast thing.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Mm hm oh did you get him? No, he did not.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Yanni took a swipe and.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Steve if we had that salt gun. Okay, does anybody
- 28:23Speaker 2: need more time? Everybody have an answer? All right, reveal
- 28:26Speaker 2: your answers. Ronson tenderloin, Sam, tenderloin spencer, tenderloins, tenderloins, tender loins.
- 28:32Speaker 2: The correct answer is tender loins. This is the deer's
- 28:37Speaker 2: equivalent to file mignon. The muscle is used very little
- 28:42Speaker 2: by deer, making it extremely tender. I searched for a
- 28:45Speaker 2: while as much time as I could give it, like,
- 28:48Speaker 2: what does that muscle do? Do you know? Ronson? Like
- 28:51Speaker 2: what it? It doesn't do much? We know that, but
- 28:53Speaker 2: what is its purpose?
- 28:57Speaker 7: Sorry, wouldn't it be late?
- 29:00Speaker 2: Really?
- 29:00Speaker 5: November hit thrusting with well answer.
- 29:02Speaker 2: You know, jokingly. I have heard that multiple times that
- 29:07Speaker 2: the only time they use that muscle is when they
- 29:09Speaker 2: get up on their hind feet. I don't know, maybe.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Nothing, And that's why it's you're right, you're right.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Maybe the dolls are even tender because they use them
- 29:18Speaker 2: they don't have to get on their back legs. The
- 29:22Speaker 2: mud veins, I've only heard that one time. But I
- 29:25Speaker 2: had an elk hunting client who is lucky enough to
- 29:27Speaker 2: draw one of Michigan's elk tags kills a bowl and
- 29:32Speaker 2: the guide is gutting it and he goes, hey, what
- 29:35Speaker 2: do you want me to do with the mud veins?
- 29:37Speaker 9: Maybe they're called mud veins because they use that muscle
- 29:39Speaker 9: when they're taking a poop.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Well maybe, well, but this guy's answer was close to
- 29:45Speaker 2: the guts. He's like, oh, what are the mud veins?
- 29:47Speaker 2: He's like, oh, these things right here, like they taste
- 29:49Speaker 2: like mud, they're close to the guts. They're no good mud.
- 29:53Speaker 2: I take them out and I feed them to my dog.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I've heard people think about it and well yeah, but
- 29:59Speaker 2: this client that I was guiding was like, yeah, I
- 30:01Speaker 2: don't think so go ahead and put those in my cooler.
- 30:05Speaker 2: You're not taking my mud veins, all right. Next question
- 30:11Speaker 2: is also a listener submitted question was submitted by Morgan
- 30:15Speaker 2: Burks of West Virginia and for sending this great question.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Morgan is going to get a board game signed by
- 30:20Speaker 2: the crew. And if you want a chance to win
- 30:23Speaker 2: Listener Question of the Week, or maybe there's two that week,
- 30:25Speaker 2: then send your question to Trivia at the meat Eater
- 30:28Speaker 2: dot com. The question is what state has the highest
- 30:34Speaker 2: number of Boone and Crockett entries for white tailed deer one? Now, Bronson,
- 30:44Speaker 2: you do some work with Boone and Crockett.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Correct, Uh huh, I'm a professional member.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Okay, being a professional member, do you feel like these
- 30:53Speaker 2: Boone and Crockett questions are like is it helping you?
- 30:57Speaker 3: I'm at no advantage, no advantage, Okay.
- 31:02Speaker 2: There's a few, yeah, okay, not like US amateur members. Again,
- 31:07Speaker 2: the question is what state has the highest number of
- 31:09Speaker 2: Boone and Crockett entries for white tailed deer as of when?
- 31:18Speaker 2: Uh at? Like what yesterday? Yesterday? Yeah?
- 31:28Speaker 9: Because I feel like there could have been some changes
- 31:31Speaker 9: over time.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Yo, Seth has destroyed the fly. He now has fly
- 31:36Speaker 1: guts on his hat.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Getting sick of thing.
- 31:41Speaker 1: We could have used you here like three hours ago.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Speaking of hats, I got one of those camouflaged wired
- 31:47Speaker 2: to hunt hats. It's got a little rope on it,
- 31:50Speaker 2: just like that one. It's got a little eight point
- 31:52Speaker 2: running across it. It's on sale, but it's also become
- 31:56Speaker 2: my first and ever lucky hunting hat. I've never had one,
- 32:00Speaker 2: and it just happened.
- 32:01Speaker 1: To be Dang.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I killed a caribou and the bowl wearing that hat.
- 32:05Speaker 2: And usually I don't like going into the woods with
- 32:07Speaker 2: just a regular ball cap. I feel like I get
- 32:09Speaker 2: sweaty and I'd much rather have something that's a little
- 32:11Speaker 2: more techy that drives faster. But I walked in the
- 32:14Speaker 2: woods wearing that hat killed the bowl.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Good. So it's the most popular hat in our office,
- 32:19Speaker 1: so it might be a few people's lucky hunting hats.
- 32:22Speaker 7: Soon.
- 32:23Speaker 1: You have to let me get a lick of that hat,
- 32:25Speaker 1: rub off some of that good luck.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's in the truck, Herbert. You ready, Brody, all right?
- 32:33Speaker 2: Rebeal your answers. Ronson Wisconsin, sanm Nebraska, Spencer, Wisconsin. The
- 32:40Speaker 2: rest of the state says Wisconsin. You are correct. Wisconsin
- 32:45Speaker 2: comes in up top with one eight hundred and twenty
- 32:49Speaker 2: two entries.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Could we guess the others? Do you have the I
- 32:53Speaker 1: have the next four Texas, Pennsylvania, No, not on the
- 32:59Speaker 1: Michigan so many deer know.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Illinois, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Ohio.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Illinois is second. Sorry, Illinois is second with one thousand,
- 33:11Speaker 2: four hundred and forty Minnesela Kansas, followed by Iowa at
- 33:15Speaker 2: one thousand, three hundred and thirty, Minnesota one thousand, one
- 33:18Speaker 2: hundred and ninety four, and running out the top five
- 33:20Speaker 2: is Ohio with one thousand and forty nine. Yeah. I
- 33:27Speaker 2: probably would have put I was number one, I think
- 33:30Speaker 2: if I would have been asked that question. But as
- 33:34Speaker 2: we've talked before with you, Spencer. You feel like this
- 33:37Speaker 2: is there's a bias there because you feel like Wisconsinites
- 33:41Speaker 2: are just more into the whole Boone and Crockett process. Yeah, books,
- 33:46Speaker 2: and so they just submit more deer to boon and crocket.
- 33:49Speaker 1: And I think Wisconsin kills way more deer than Iowa.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you can. You can also go kill two bucks
- 33:54Speaker 2: there every year, whereas Iowa's you know, you gotta draw
- 33:59Speaker 2: Iowa four years, did you or whatever?
- 34:02Speaker 3: And numbers wise, they have a bigger digger population, so
- 34:05Speaker 3: they're going to produce more bot.
- 34:07Speaker 7: Crockets, more Boone and crockets.
- 34:09Speaker 2: There we go. This is great, aving Bronson here, we
- 34:12Speaker 2: came around for a whole week of content. Okay, next question,
- 34:17Speaker 2: we're still we're hanging out in the record book category.
- 34:21Speaker 2: In what state were their world record archery typical and
- 34:27Speaker 2: non typical white tailed bucks killed?
- 34:31Speaker 1: World record?
- 34:32Speaker 2: It's one state, Okay, in what state where the world
- 34:37Speaker 2: record archery typical and non typical bucks kilt? Currently they
- 34:44Speaker 2: are current world records. Unless I did my research wrong
- 34:49Speaker 2: and misread something, I believe that both of them are
- 34:53Speaker 2: from this state.
- 35:01Speaker 1: H m hmm.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Again the question state that could give away. It would
- 35:18Speaker 2: be a little too much info. The question is in
- 35:22Speaker 2: what state where the world record archery typical and non
- 35:26Speaker 2: typical bucks killed?
- 35:30Speaker 9: Got an answer?
- 35:31Speaker 2: Did we do? We have one of these people on
- 35:33Speaker 2: the podcast.
- 35:34Speaker 5: Oh, come on now, send it down.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Just curious.
- 35:42Speaker 9: Don't answer that.
- 35:44Speaker 2: I can't answer it. I don't think it's gonna help.
- 35:47Speaker 2: O mm hmmer something do you want me to know? Okay,
- 35:55Speaker 2: let's just wait just a little bit, because if Bronson
- 35:58Speaker 2: hasn't listened to that episode, they'll give it rest unfair advantage. Kay,
- 36:03Speaker 2: he has a need more time. Ready to go. Everybody's
- 36:08Speaker 2: got a state written down. Reveal your answers. Ronson Kansas,
- 36:13Speaker 2: Sam Iowa, Spencer Illinois, Corey Indiana, Seth Kansas, Brody Kansas.
- 36:18Speaker 2: We have again one correct answer. It is Illinois.
- 36:23Speaker 1: I thought Indiana like that one.
- 36:25Speaker 2: I thought it was gonna be Indiana too. Mel Johnson
- 36:28Speaker 2: killed the world record typical in nineteen sixty five with
- 36:32Speaker 2: the trad bows, and Luke Brewster killed the world record
- 36:35Speaker 2: non typical in twenty eighteen. I believe it was with
- 36:39Speaker 2: a compound. Johnson's typical scores two hundred and four and
- 36:43Speaker 2: four eights. Brewster's nontypical scores three hundred twenty seven, seven eights.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Johnson killed his on October twenty ninth, and Brewster on
- 36:53Speaker 2: November twod, proving that late October and early November are
- 36:57Speaker 2: great time frames to be in the woods if you're
- 36:58Speaker 2: looking for a monster buck.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I interviewed Luke when he killed that buck and wrote
- 37:03Speaker 1: about it on our website, so you could go find
- 37:05Speaker 1: something on the meat eat or down. You got that
- 37:07Speaker 1: question right, Yes, yeah, I was at a big advantage there.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Good job for Luke Brewster's buck.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Yeah. I found it great that the guy killed it
- 37:15Speaker 2: with a trad boll.
- 37:17Speaker 9: Well, what year was it?
- 37:18Speaker 2: Sixty five?
- 37:18Speaker 1: Oh?
- 37:19Speaker 2: Come on, I know, but there was probably a couple
- 37:21Speaker 2: of wheel bows around.
- 37:24Speaker 1: But I don't think it's that okay, he was in
- 37:27Speaker 1: the thirty thirty though.
- 37:28Speaker 2: He was also wearing a flannel shirt, no camoaly.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Luke Brewster's buck. If you think you know what a
- 37:35Speaker 1: giant non typical world record white tail looks like, you
- 37:39Speaker 1: actually don't like you need to go see pictures of it.
- 37:41Speaker 1: It's it's that insane. There's just so much antler happening,
- 37:44Speaker 1: and so much of it coming towards the ground as
- 37:48Speaker 1: opposed to vertically. It's big buck.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's amazing. I bet it's heavy. I'd like
- 37:54Speaker 2: to know how much how much those Antler's away.
- 37:56Speaker 9: Yeah, it's got mass Andy's heavy.
- 37:58Speaker 2: That's right. Just like Jeff Foxworthy said, ones, how many
- 38:06Speaker 2: states can you legally hunt white tail deer?
- 38:09Speaker 8: In?
- 38:11Speaker 2: I didn't hyphenate at this time, how many states?
- 38:21Speaker 1: It's a lot of them.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Yes, it is a lot of them. You might think
- 38:26Speaker 2: about counting the ones that you can't hunt them into
- 38:28Speaker 2: get your answer.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 38:38Speaker 3: It's whitetail including cows.
- 38:41Speaker 7: Yes, like the pronunciation.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Ronson, Yeah, again, the question is how many states can
- 39:06Speaker 2: you legally hunt white tail deer? In? A lot of
- 39:18Speaker 2: thinking going on in here. It's very warm in this room.
- 39:22Speaker 2: When we get late in the game, Brody's got an answer,
- 39:28Speaker 2: Ronson's writing one down. I think everybody's got something written down.
- 39:31Speaker 9: Swinging for the fences on this one.
- 39:33Speaker 6: All right, fellas, this is question ninety honest what it is?
- 39:37Speaker 9: Well, we can let's do our score update before you're
- 39:40Speaker 9: do it after nine.
- 39:41Speaker 1: I guess there we go.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Sorry again when I copy and paste that something went
- 39:46Speaker 2: wrong with the formatting. Go ahead, and reveal your answers.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Ronson forty five, Sam forty three, Spencer forty five, Corey
- 39:53Speaker 2: forty nine, Seth forty seven, and Brody forty nine. Spencer
- 39:58Speaker 2: and Bronson got it correct that it could be a trick, like.
- 40:01Speaker 1: You can legally kill them in Alaska despite them not
- 40:04Speaker 1: living there.
- 40:05Speaker 9: That's what I was thinking, like, they if they're there,
- 40:08Speaker 9: you can shoot them.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Maybe I should have phrased it differently, but you got
- 40:12Speaker 2: it the way I think. Yeah, the ones you cannot
- 40:18Speaker 2: hunt white tail deer in are Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, California,
- 40:22Speaker 2: in Utah. Ai actually try to tell me that Arizona
- 40:26Speaker 2: didn't either, but we all know it's not true because
- 40:29Speaker 2: Arizona's packed with cows deer. Which are you white What.
- 40:33Speaker 9: Are the states you can't again?
- 40:36Speaker 2: Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, California, in utah.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I wrote down Oregon. But they must have a season
- 40:42Speaker 1: for their white tail. Yeah, that you you can kill
- 40:49Speaker 1: them in the northern part of the state. I looked
- 40:51Speaker 1: at doing it there once because they have some white
- 40:53Speaker 1: tail habitat.
- 40:55Speaker 2: But do they have a white tail season or a
- 40:57Speaker 2: white tail tang?
- 40:57Speaker 1: I don't know. My guess is no, it's just deer.
- 41:02Speaker 1: And I remember when I was looking into it, it was
- 41:03Speaker 1: like once every few years somebody would kill one, like
- 41:07Speaker 1: right on the Utah border.
- 41:08Speaker 9: And there's no Colombian whitetail in California.
- 41:11Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think you can hunt.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Only places I could find Colombian whitetail or it was
- 41:18Speaker 2: uh no, uh.
- 41:23Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I'm only seeing a mule deer season.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Can we move make adjustments.
- 41:31Speaker 5: That we'll all just get that one correct.
- 41:34Speaker 1: I think the game would be more interesting if I
- 41:36Speaker 1: got it wrong, which I think I probably did, because
- 41:39Speaker 1: I think Brody is right about Utah not being one
- 41:42Speaker 1: of them.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Oh so you think it's forty six. I think so
- 41:45Speaker 2: that means everybody got it wrong then yeah, nobody had
- 41:47Speaker 2: forty six right. Well, I mean you should look it up.
- 41:52Speaker 9: See is it legal to kill white tails in Utah?
- 41:55Speaker 2: I'm sure on it.
- 41:57Speaker 6: Well, I mean, I mean, yeah, that's what I just
- 41:59Speaker 6: I just looked at him, and so far I'm only
- 42:01Speaker 6: seeing mule deer for having like an archery and rifle
- 42:05Speaker 6: season in general.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:06Speaker 6: I specifically searched for whitetail as well, and the first
- 42:09Speaker 6: thing that came up is mule deer, but I'm not
- 42:11Speaker 6: haven't dug deep at all, So.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Going to the deep AI mode, do do your scoreboard
- 42:17Speaker 2: update and the correct answer review, and I will try
- 42:20Speaker 2: to get an answer in the meantime. Let's do it.
- 42:24Speaker 4: Well.
- 42:24Speaker 6: If there are no revisions to the score, Spencer does
- 42:27Speaker 6: indeed win the game because he cannot be caught by
- 42:30Speaker 6: the second place player who is our guest Bronson with
- 42:32Speaker 6: five points. Spencer has seven, and then behind them are
- 42:35Speaker 6: Brody and Seth with four, Corey with three, and Sam
- 42:37Speaker 6: with one.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Ron'son excellent showing, well, thank you.
- 42:43Speaker 9: Yes, as it is legal to kill whiteter in whitetail
- 42:45Speaker 9: in Utah, but only if you obtain the proper hunting
- 42:48Speaker 9: license and permit.
- 42:51Speaker 2: All right, so technically is that an AI answer?
- 42:54Speaker 9: Well, I'm key, I'm looking at some more.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Yeah, they're always right.
- 42:58Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Okay for a direct question.
- 43:01Speaker 9: Maybe not. Oh, I don't know, you'd have to dig deeper.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Correct question review. Question one with shyris moose two diameter
- 43:11Speaker 2: at breast height three one four thirty odd six springfield five,
- 43:20Speaker 2: dental pad six the inner loins or tender loins seven
- 43:26Speaker 2: Wisconsin eight forty five Are you sure I'm just doing
- 43:33Speaker 2: my mathron to I do four twice again. This number,
- 43:37Speaker 2: this numbering thing is really messing me up.
- 43:39Speaker 6: Uh, you had ten questions, be honest, I didn't. I
- 43:42Speaker 6: didn't you know, I made sure to count them. We've
- 43:44Speaker 6: done nine questions. I don't thank you.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Yeah, here's a forum for a forum for twenty eighteen
- 43:51Speaker 1: that's not necessarily accurate. That are saying white tails are
- 43:54Speaker 1: protected in Utah. So I don't know if that is
- 43:58Speaker 1: legit or not.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Okay, Well, it's not going to change the score in
- 44:02Speaker 2: fortune today because you and Bronson had the same answers.
- 44:05Speaker 2: So uh, it would just deduct one from each of
- 44:08Speaker 2: you guys. Oops, but it would make it a It
- 44:11Speaker 2: make it a real, uh real battle for second. I
- 44:15Speaker 2: guess if Bronson was down to four, let's bring them
- 44:17Speaker 2: back down there we go. Let's go on to question ten.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Is there a chance? Nope, no chance for a tiebreaker.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Using USDA calculations, order these meats and caloric density from
- 44:34Speaker 2: highest to lowest, lean ground beef, skin on, pheasant venison,
- 44:40Speaker 2: and catfish filets lean ground beef. I got this information
- 44:47Speaker 2: by literally going to their website and just punching in
- 44:53Speaker 2: calories and then the name of the meat.
- 45:00Speaker 9: They had it as venison, not broken out by a species. No,
- 45:07Speaker 9: hi's the lowest.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Yep, which one has the most galleries?
- 45:13Speaker 3: Down to the least dumb question? Is lean ground beef
- 45:19Speaker 3: like relatively lean? The proportion of fat in it is
- 45:23Speaker 3: less or zero fat ground beef?
- 45:28Speaker 2: I think leans like anything like ninety and well they
- 45:33Speaker 2: have like one that's called ninety percent lean.
- 45:38Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't think they can call it lean unless
- 45:41Speaker 9: it's a certain percentage.
- 45:44Speaker 7: But I don't know what that percentage is.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Either word.
- 45:57Speaker 8: Yeah, you're gonna change it.
- 46:02Speaker 5: It's different than my answer.
- 46:03Speaker 4: I'll tell you that.
- 46:04Speaker 2: The question is using USDA calculations, order these meats and
- 46:09Speaker 2: caloric density from highest to lowest lean ground beef skin
- 46:13Speaker 2: on pheasant, venison and catfish filet.
- 46:16Speaker 6: Looks like the USDA defines lean as being at at
- 46:19Speaker 6: least ninety.
- 46:21Speaker 8: Com I'm just trying to hit that Jennifer index.
- 46:28Speaker 5: Are you I'm at three? Oh answers different than yours.
- 46:33Speaker 1: I really disagree.
- 46:34Speaker 8: Well, I don't think I disagree. I mean, I'm just
- 46:39Speaker 8: going by personal preference here.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Maybe everybody have an answer.
- 46:50Speaker 5: Where did these catfish come from?
- 46:53Speaker 2: I got a buddy boys, that's a valid question.
- 46:56Speaker 1: I mean, or they farm raised Seth's pond.
- 47:00Speaker 2: It is a valid question. Yeah. Again, this is what
- 47:04Speaker 2: the US d A there said for a pound of
- 47:08Speaker 2: catfish filets.
- 47:10Speaker 3: If they're Mississippi Delta farm raised aquaculture, there will be
- 47:14Speaker 3: a lot of fat.
- 47:18Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 47:18Speaker 2: But I feel like those flatheads that we caught on
- 47:20Speaker 2: the Missouri they had a lot of fat too.
- 47:23Speaker 1: I was operating as though this was a channel catfish.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, lots of things.
- 47:28Speaker 9: There's a lot of non specificity in these I was
- 47:31Speaker 9: thinking of, you.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Were okay, I was picturing a channel.
- 47:37Speaker 2: That's what they're going on. You guys already to reveal
- 47:40Speaker 2: your answers, please, Bronson says, ground beef, peasant, catfish, venison,
- 47:47Speaker 2: Sam beef, pheasant, venison, catfish, spencer beef, venison, pheasant, catfish,
- 47:53Speaker 2: corey pheasant, venison, catfish, beef, seth, catfish, beef, venison, pheasant,
- 47:59Speaker 2: brodie pheasant, catfish, lean, ground beef, venison. Okay, I think
- 48:04Speaker 2: one person got it, one person right, and I think
- 48:07Speaker 2: that that's bronzing. No, it was Sam, Oh Sam? What
- 48:11Speaker 2: was it?
- 48:12Speaker 4: Oh?
- 48:12Speaker 2: Yeah, venison is last oh man, No, no, no, no, brilliant,
- 48:17Speaker 2: got it? I was okay, be honest.
- 48:20Speaker 6: The formatting of this document is a nightmare.
- 48:21Speaker 2: Hey, look who it is?
- 48:22Speaker 1: Hey, hey Stephen Ranela ask him Steve, of those has
- 48:27Speaker 1: the most calories?
- 48:28Speaker 2: You don't know? And for a pound slice of pizza,
- 48:33Speaker 2: who has the most calories? Who has the least?
- 48:38Speaker 9: Why don't you read the answer? And whoever has it
- 48:40Speaker 9: will raise their head.
- 48:44Speaker 2: The correct order is lean ground beef, skin on pheasant, catfish, venison.
- 48:51Speaker 6: Okay, so Bronson did get that one? Yes, okay.
- 48:54Speaker 2: For pound of meat, lean ground beef has twelve hundred
- 48:56Speaker 2: and fifty calories, skin on pheasant has six hundred and
- 48:59Speaker 2: seventy two, catfish flats have six hundred and fifty three,
- 49:02Speaker 2: and venison has a mere five hundred and forty four galleries,
- 49:07Speaker 2: Which is why we're always adding fat to our ground
- 49:09Speaker 2: meat and cooking our steaks and butter. So that makes
- 49:16Speaker 2: Spencer our winner. Spencer wins every time I host. I
- 49:24Speaker 2: don't know how that happens.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Well, you guess hosts the most. That makes a difference.
- 49:28Speaker 1: We must just share the same brain, Yanni.
- 49:30Speaker 2: I guess so, I guess. So he's seen all these
- 49:33Speaker 2: questions before access to documents, and he interviewed the guy.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Guy.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but you said, you said you went through the
- 49:40Speaker 2: pool of questions that, Spencer.
- 49:42Speaker 1: That's a sheet that has every question from the board.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Game that's ever been used. Oh and if I if
- 49:48Speaker 2: my question comes up there, I can't use it. Oh
- 49:52Speaker 2: for that reason, Yeah, I mean come on, Okay, thank
