- 3:23Nick and Patsy are spending a short vacation at the home of Walter Summers,
- 3:28sheriff of a small county in Upper New York State. Peace reigns supreme over
- 3:30the Summer's household. As our story opens a piece which unfortunately is rudely shattered
- 3:36by all right, all right, just a minute, Sheriff Summer Speed,
- 3:47Sheriff, This is Jed Peters. Yes, Jed, Well what do you
- 3:51want at this out of the morning here if I'm at the Parsons place,
- 3:53you know, out on the edge of town. Yes, yes, I
- 3:55know. What's the matter. Well, I stopped you here a while back
- 3:58to deliver the Parsons or milk I can always do. And when I got
- 4:00here, I found Laura and missus Parsons all tied up to a chair.
- 4:04But I asked her what had happened. She couldn't talk much, but she
- 4:06said something about a man killing her husband and tying her up. Well I
- 4:11looked, and sure enough, mister Parsons is dead shot through the head.
- 4:14You better get out here right away. Mister Parson's murdered. Yes, sure,
- 4:17and Laura, missus Parsons, is in pretty bad shape. You better
- 4:20hurry up, all right, Jed, I'll be right over sunday. Can
- 4:23now. Don't touch a thing, and don't let nobody else touch nothing.
- 4:26I'm off, goodbye. Hey, what's all that about? Wald? Oh?
- 4:30I wake up? Didn't I? I'm sorry? No, I ain't
- 4:32neither, because i'd had to wake anyhow. What so early in the morning.
- 4:35I can't be more than six o'clock, just quarter two six, But
- 4:40murderers don't care what time did murderer? Oh, don't tell me. Somebody
- 4:44killed somebody way up here in the contrary, Yes, done it. First
- 4:47time in sixteen years of being sheriff, I ever had a murder in this
- 4:49county. I'm sure glad you're yep. Oh no, look here, Wald,
- 4:54I came up here for a rest, not to chase down a murderer.
- 4:57You're a good chef. You don't need me maybe, but you're coming
- 5:00along just the same. Now, get up now before I pull the clothes
- 5:03off the bed and pour this picture of water avera. All right, all
- 5:05right, all right, I suppose there's no way out, but you ought
- 5:10to be in charge. Well, if that's the way you want it,
- 5:12that's all right with me. Now hurry up and get some clothes on while
- 5:15I tell the medical examiner to meet me at the Parsons place in fifteen minutes.
- 5:28I'm surprised Patsy didn't want to get up and come along. Well.
- 5:30When I asked her, she just said you'd see us later. Said she
- 5:33wanted to get all the beauty sleep she could first looks if she was going
- 5:38to get the vacation not. You don't fool yourself. I'm going to say
- 5:41that this killing is solid in record time. I have to prove I did
- 5:45it myself. Anything for peace and quiet. You know what's funny about the
- 5:48Parsons is young Henry Parsons and his wife, a right pretty little girl.
- 5:54She is too. They come to town about two years ago, stayed at
- 5:58the hotel till they found the house like it's a little bungalow built right smack
- 6:02on the edge of the cliff overlooking the river. Follow the downs the bungalow.
- 6:08He took Alik in Henry and got him a job in the lumber mill.
- 6:11He's been there ever since goods did he work her? They tell me?
- 6:15Did they have any enemies? Oh? Not so firs. I know
- 6:18they never went out much, but everybody liked him. He was a real
- 6:21nice fellow. And if ever I saw two people in love with each other,
- 6:26it was them too. Yeah, there was more lovers than married folks,
- 6:30usways more than most married folks that I've seen. This is going to
- 6:34be pretty bad for her then losing the man you love. Yeah, you're
- 6:39right. Yeah, that's the house, a gray one with the smoke coming
- 6:42out of the chimney. Oh, I tell you it's going to be terrible,
- 6:45Nick, I'm dreading heaven to ask her any questions about it. Uh,
- 6:49you wouldn't wonder, Oh no, no, no, not much.
- 6:51I wouldn't. I'm just a private in the rear rank today. I thought
- 6:55you wouldn't. Well, this is it. Go with as soon as I
- 7:00can, come on, let's go in. Doors probably open, yes,
- 7:08Chi South Winslow. I'd be here in just a few minutes now. He
- 7:13only lives a few miles further from here, And I do warning share dog
- 7:16you here already you must have flew over. Well. I left soon as
- 7:19I got your message. I'll good for you. I meet mister Nick Carter,
- 7:24friend of mine. Hello, mister Carter. Morning. Dodor Parsons is
- 7:27dead, all right, shot right through the head. He's there in the
- 7:30dining room. And Miss Parson's taking it pretty hard? Is she terrible?
- 7:34Hard? Share? And I put her to bed in the spare room.
- 7:38Somebody gave her a real good shock in the jaw. Judging for the looks.
- 7:41I'd like to give her sedative, but I knew you'd want to talk
- 7:44to her first, so I've been waiting. You got through. Oh,
- 7:46thanks, Doc, I knew I could count on you. Say where's Jed?
- 7:49I don't see him around. Well, Jed felt the babies had to
- 7:53have their milk, murder or no murder. I told him to go ahead,
- 7:57but come back soon as he could. And I told him not to
- 8:00tell a soul what happened to here. Well that's something anyway. I hope
- 8:03he minds what you told him. I look sure if you're going to question
- 8:05missus Parsons now, yes, right now, Dot, come on, then
- 8:09money right with you? Walk in miss Passions. I'm terrible sorry to about
- 8:16Henry. How can you tell me what happened I'll do my best shirt.
- 8:22Now, suppose you start right at the beginning and just tell us whatever you
- 8:26can. I was asleep when I heard a loud noise. It woke me
- 8:31up. What kind of a noise? I don't know, just a loud
- 8:35noise. It's like an explosion, like all right, all right, we
- 8:39know what you mean. And then what woke up? Found that Henry?
- 8:43It wasn't in bed besides me. That scared me. So I called him
- 8:46answer and I started to get out of bed. Then I saw, I
- 8:50saw, asked miss Passion's what was it? You saw Henry on the floor
- 8:58right? Stay out taking? And what did you do? Then? I
- 9:03screamed? The man hit me on the chin. All missus Parsons, did
- 9:07you get a look at this man who hits you? Can you tell us
- 9:11what he looked like? But medium size, stuck him old clothes, he
- 9:16hadn't shaved for several days, with a scar across his part and down over
- 9:22his cheek. Did you ever see him before? Oh? Never? Well,
- 9:24support you go on with your story. When I became conscious to get
- 9:28I was gagged and tied up in one of the kitchen chairs. The man
- 9:33said he was sorry. He had to kill me, but he couldn't take
- 9:35any chances on my telling the cops about Did he have a gun, Missus
- 9:39Parsons, Yes, I could see it in his pocket. He said he
- 9:41couldn't shoot a woman and knew a better way to do it. And what
- 9:46did he do? He turned on the gas, so that was an easy
- 9:48way to die and he left me. Where did he go? Then?
- 9:52I heard him moving around in the dining room and I heard him climb out
- 9:56the window and shut it and he left the gas turned on. I almost
- 10:00died before Jed got you and turned it off, and then Jed cuts you
- 10:03loose. Yes, it seemed hours later that she can tell us well,
- 10:11thanks Ms Parsons. All for now, we let you know. If we
- 10:16want to know anything else, I'll send the dock in talk in putter sleep
- 10:22now about time too, poor kids, she's putting her all in. Nick,
- 10:28You heard her describe that man had done it? Why? Yes?
- 10:31Why I know him? You know him? Not personally, I don't mean,
- 10:35but I know who he is. Been hanging around town for over a
- 10:37week now. There's been two burglaries while he's been here too. I've been
- 10:41going to arrest him on suspicion. But now, by gosh, I got
- 10:45a real reason to arrest him. Yes, looks that way. Well let's
- 10:50take a look at the body. Yeah, Doc said was here in the
- 10:52dining room. Yes, that is m must have just been coming out of
- 10:58the bedroom when he was shot. Never knew what hit him, seems like
- 11:01I look there walk the center window. What oh, the catch is smashed?
- 11:05So that's how he got in Yes, mm hmm. Henry must have
- 11:11heard him in here, got up to see what was going on, and
- 11:13the burglars shut him. Footprints here on the window sill too, And I
- 11:18can see some princes down in the garden under the way. That's settled it.
- 11:22I'm going to find that tramp and I'm going to get a confession.
- 11:24Oh wait, well wait, you have to have more evidence than a footprint
- 11:28to convict a man of murder. But Miss Parsons can identify him easy because
- 11:31she saw him. I suppose you go after him. I'll stay here and
- 11:33see what else I can take up in the way of evidence. You don't
- 11:37want to go with me, No, it's better if we each work on
- 11:39a separate angle. Get results quicker that way. Okay, Nick, I'll
- 11:41get hold of my deputy and we'll find that murdering tramp in short order.
- 11:46Just a minute, just a minute, God, I heard someone just outside
- 11:48this door. I mean somebody's listening, I think, so let me open
- 11:52the door. Well, Jed, what are you doing here? Nothing?
- 11:56Well, Jed, do you hear anything worth listening to? I wasn't listening.
- 12:01I just happened to be standing here. Well, if you wasn't listening,
- 12:03I didn't know. Well, how does it happen in your back?
- 12:07So soon? Jed? Got your milk all delivered? Well, just took
- 12:11the milk to houses where they got babies, and I came back just like
- 12:13Doc told me to, of course, telling anybody about the murder. No,
- 12:18Doc said not to Jed. What time was it when you first heard
- 12:20missus Parsons morning? When I set her milk on the back porch, about
- 12:24five o'clock, five o'clock, But you didn't phone the sheriff until after five
- 12:28thirty? What you led you? Why I was untying Laura, missus Parsons,
- 12:33and trying to get her to tell me what ha happened? I see?
- 12:35Did you break in the front door or the back when you came in?
- 12:37Neither one. The back door was unlocked. Oh, the back door
- 12:41was unlocked, So you just came in that way? Well, sure I
- 12:45did. So were you trying to do get me balled up? I'm not
- 12:46trying to do anything to your Jed. I just want to get all the
- 12:50facts straight. Okay, what else you want to know? Suppose you tell
- 12:54us just what happened when you came in the back door. Well, Laura,
- 12:56Missus Parsons, was tried up in one of the chairs near the dove.
- 13:00I smelled gas and she said whoever it was, and turned it on
- 13:03to suffocat her, so I turned it off. God, she was almost
- 13:07out. Then I cut the ropes that were holding her and I let her
- 13:09loose. What else did she say? She didn't say nothing much. She's
- 13:11just about unconscious when I found her. She talked about a man coming in
- 13:15and killing her husband and some other stuff I didn't get I see, And
- 13:20what did you do then? Why? I took her into the spare room
- 13:22and I put her on a bed. Then I called the sheriff. That's
- 13:26all, Jed. I noticed you're pretty friendly with Missus Parston's. What do
- 13:30you mean by that? By the way, you call her Laura. That's
- 13:31all. Oh, well, you see, she's been giving me grammar lessons
- 13:35for about an hour every day after my milk's delivered, so I got to
- 13:39know her kind of well. Missus Parsons is very pretty, isn't she?
- 13:43Here? Dar right? She is as well to look around the whole route.
- 13:46You like her very much, don't do? Sure? I do.
- 13:48She's been awful good to me, and I well, I just like her.
- 13:52You were in love with her, Jed. In love with her,
- 13:54of course not. She's married. You weren't so much in love with her
- 13:56that you'd be jealous of her husband. Want I'm out of the way,
- 13:58Perhaps he look care you. If you're trying to say it I killed mister
- 14:01Parker, you can turn shut up, Jed. Nick's doing the talking here.
- 14:03You'll just answering question. Well, and they can come around here making
- 14:07cracks like that. I don't know I'd call that a crack. There's been
- 14:09considerable talk around town about how much time you've been spending with Ms Parsons.
- 14:13I never took no stock in it before, but now I tell you there's
- 14:16nothing to a share. We were just good friends, that's all all right,
- 14:18Jed that's all for now. I don't go anywhere, but I ain't
- 14:22finished. Children my milk here. Listen. If Nick says wait you wait,
- 14:26I'll tell you when you can go. Murder is a serious thing of
- 14:28all, A thick headed dumb cluck tires so jed really had anything to do
- 14:33with it, Nate. They certainly had the motive and the opportunity and afford
- 14:35to overlook any angle untill we sure for the present, I suspect everyone.
- 14:41Yeah, heaven name is that's missus Parsons. Maybe more trouble? Come on,
- 14:45come on, what new development is this? As something happened to missus
- 14:58Parson's as well as their husband. We'll see in just a moment. Nothing

- 16:08the sheriff racing down the hall toward the room where Missus Parsons had been sleeping
- 16:11in the effort to find out why she was screaming mad Nick, Please,
- 16:17missus Parsons, take this to Mark. What's the trouble, Doc, She's
- 16:21having hysterics. I didn't leave her a big enough dose before. I guess
- 16:23now she won't take nothing here. Let me hold her all right now.
- 16:27Put the glass to her lips. Maybe she'll take it. Did that'll keep
- 16:37her quiet? Hey? Gosh. I thought she was being killed from the
- 16:41noise she was making. You follows fine anything, Yes, sir, we
- 16:45found the marks where the killer, that is, the fellow we think must
- 16:48kill him, broke in through the window in the dining room. I'm going
- 16:51out after him, now, will you be Nick? If I'm not here,
- 16:53I'll be at your place. I'm going back and get Patsy as soon
- 16:56as I'm through here. We came up here for a vacation. You know,
- 17:00all right, Nick, I'll be seeing you. Good luck with your
- 17:02hunting. Well neck, How does it look so far? We know that
- 17:15a burglar entered the Parsons house last night and staw some silverware. When I
- 17:19went back to look after Walt left, I found the sideboard and the dining
- 17:22room was cleaned out. You may have shot Parsons when Parsons surprised him taking
- 17:26the stuff. What about Jed Well, he certainly had the motive. He
- 17:30loved missus Parsons, and he had the opportunity that of being on the spot
- 17:34at practiced at the same time the murder took place. Do you know when
- 17:37that was Well, we got there about six. He'd been dead roughly about
- 17:41an hour. Then which one of the two do you think did it?
- 17:45I'm not ready to answer that yet, Patsy. When I was looking over
- 17:48the scene at the crime after Walt left, I found several little things that
- 17:52indicate there may be a third party involved. A third party? What do
- 17:56you mean, bike, Patsy, pull over? Pull over? Gosh,
- 18:02that was too close. Kids would learn to watch where they're going when they're
- 18:04on the main highway. Well, we missed him, so it's all right
- 18:08this time. Can you see the parson's house on this road? Nick,
- 18:12No, the cliff's too steep. How are you going to know where to
- 18:15look? Then? Before I left the house, I hung one of my
- 18:18handkerchiefs in the clothes line right at the edge of the cliff. Oh that's
- 18:21good. I think we can see it from here. Should be just ahead.
- 18:25I'll watch for Oh, yes, that is slow down a little okay,
- 18:32now stop right here, right sid thing you hung that handkerchief up there?
- 18:44You never know there was a house there. Now you know what you're
- 18:45looking for, don't you? Yes? You don't think it could have gone
- 18:48across the road, do you? I doubt it, Betsy. They could
- 18:52train baseball player to throw it. That fire no, it's somewhere between the
- 18:55road and the bottom of the cliff. Now you look them here up that
- 18:57way, and I look them here. We've got to find out if it's
- 19:00here. We can't give up until we do. Careful, Pete. We
- 19:18don't want to warn him we're here because he's a desperate carricter. But thing
- 19:22those kids seen him come in this way hereff saves us a lot of hunting
- 19:26around. See anything of that shack that told us about you. But he
- 19:30should be just ahead. Take it easy and right right there. All right
- 19:33now, Lester Pete, you stay out here in front, keep behind that
- 19:37big tree, and fire your gun over the shack once in a while.
- 19:40Keep his attention on you. I'm going round back and creep up on him
- 19:42from that side. Then i'll get him, for he knows I'm there,
- 19:45is he, but keep here. I don't want to lose Deputy. Okay,
- 19:48Sheriff, I'll watch him. Want me start firing now, No,
- 19:52let me get a head start so he won't see me. Then start firing.
- 19:55I'll signal you win. Okay, good luck, there's a signal here
- 20:03goes. Get your hands up. We got you surrounded. You can't get
- 20:11a sheriff got him? H neb it. There ain't nobody here. See
- 20:15been living there, sheriff. Yeah, he's been here all right, pretty
- 20:18much cleared out right after the murder. Let's got scared and run for it.
- 20:22Look, sheriff, here's a fork under this whole piece of carpet.
- 20:26God, big initial pee on it. Uh huh. One of the passions
- 20:29is likely. Oh this aman? All right? What now, sheriff,
- 20:32We're going back to the office and send out an alarm for him. You
- 20:34won't get furfore he's nabbed. I'll see to that. But where are you
- 20:48now? Nick? At your house? Wald? We found the gun,
- 20:51You got the man. You went after him? We sure did, got
- 20:53him and the stuff he stole too. He was got in the next town
- 20:56trying to pawn some of that soba. He just brought him in. What
- 21:00does he have to say? Oh, he says he found the silver in
- 21:03the woods. Yeah, he's shack. Says he never was near the parson's
- 21:07house. Well, we'll change his mind for him when we show him what
- 21:10we know. A while after I started thinking things over, I went back
- 21:14to Parsons place found a couple of very interesting bits of evidence. That i'd
- 21:17overlooked before. Suppose you take the burglar out there. I want missus Parsons
- 21:22to identify him. I'll meet you there in fifteen minutes. Okay, Nick,
- 21:26we'll be there. Good all. I want to get back to my
- 21:27vacation. Well, now that role here, doc, will you ask missus
- 21:44Parsons to join us? I wonder what identify this man? He's feeling a
- 21:47little quieter. Now I'll get here. Have I got to stick around here
- 21:49forever? Share if I got a job to do. If I don't get
- 21:52back, I'll be fine. I don't stay away, that'll be trouble now,
- 21:55you said, but I got to get back down. Some things I
- 21:59want to ask you as soon Assus Parsons gets here. Oh, well,
- 22:03take your prisoner over the other side of the room, so if you won't
- 22:04see him when she first comes in. All right, come on, you
- 22:07come on, all right, quit shoven, I'm coming, mister car Won't
- 22:12you make this as quick as you can? I don't feel I can stand
- 22:15much of this question. We'll spare you well, we can, missus Parsons,
- 22:18but there are certain things we're having to know. Won't you sit down
- 22:22here next to passy. Yes hear missus Parsons. Let me help you,
- 22:25all right, but right, that's the man. He did it. He
- 22:30hit me and TI me up. You're not I I me upset you,
- 22:33but I never touched your old man looks as if that settled it. If
- 22:37you're the one that hit her, you're the one that killed Henry. We
- 22:40found you with the silver were on you, and miss Parsons here identifies you.
- 22:44Now you're going to admit that you did it all because it doesn't I
- 22:47swiped the stuff maybe, but I didn't cook nobody. I just gave her
- 22:49a clot on the jaw to keep her quiet. Well, Nate, what
- 22:52you got to say? Now you're satisfied? No, older, I'm not.
- 22:56There's several things that don't match up here. I don't know what's the
- 22:59matter with you, Nate, but I know you'll do it the way you
- 23:00won't do anyway. She'll go ahead. Now, are you what time did
- 23:06you break into this house? About two o'clock? Did you see either mister
- 23:08or missus Parsons. I looked and they were both asleep. I didn't wake
- 23:12him up. You did? You woke Henry? And please, missus Parsons
- 23:15please be try it. Nick knows what he's doing. You just took what
- 23:18silver you could find and went out again. Huh. Yeah. A woman
- 23:22woke up and was gonna stop me, so I had to soccer one to
- 23:25keep her quiet, and I ducked out. That's all. He's a lion
- 23:27thieve in murdering. I don't think so well, but Nate less, let
- 23:30me finish, please, Jed, what was missus Parson's wearing when you found
- 23:34her this morning? Why? She had a pink sort of house coat,
- 23:38lots of lace on her Yes? Did she look pretty in it? She
- 23:41sure did, But that don't mean I had Let's answer my questions. Please,
- 23:47is this Parsons? Did you ever see this gun before? WHOA?
- 23:52I never saw it before. You sleep on two pillows, don't you?
- 23:56Yes? And you never saw this gun before? Oh I didn't. That's
- 24:02peculiar. When I lifted the top pillow off your bed this morning, I
- 24:06found a little hollow on the top of the bottom one, and this gun
- 24:08just fits it. That's a lie you like, Jed. He's a nice
- 24:15boy, but you liked your husband better. Of course I loved Henry.
- 24:19Yes, you loved him so much. You couldn't bear to have him leave
- 24:22you. Isn't that true? I don't wa are you getting at Nick?
- 24:26I don't get this, wal missus Parsons killed her husband. I didn't.
- 24:30I didn't do it. Was that man? Are you crazy? Nick?
- 24:33Or? What makes you think she did it? I think I know she
- 24:36did it as I see it. She woke up and heard the burglar in
- 24:38the dining room. She'd already decided to kill Henry, but hadn't decided how
- 24:41to do it. And now the thought came to her that she could kill
- 24:45Henry and blame it on the burglar. She'd undoubtedly seen the man around town
- 24:48and knew exactly what he looked like. Remember that very excellent description she gave
- 24:52us world, Well, sure sure she never saw him that clearly by flashlight.
- 24:55You're rye. You can't prove any got five o'clock. She got up,
- 24:59took a gun from under a pillow, went into the dining room,
- 25:00and called Henry very excitedly. When he rushed out of bed to see what
- 25:03was the matter, she waited for him at the dining room door and shot
- 25:06him as it came through. And she took off her night dress and put
- 25:08on the pink housecoat. I found the night dress with some spots of blood
- 25:12on it under the mattress on her bed. You lyeing, I wore that
- 25:15house got to bed last night. I was cold. I was that housecoat
- 25:21rumbled up when you saw it this morning? Why, poor guy? She
- 25:25looked like new to me, I thought so, missus Parsons. You went
- 25:27to the kitchen, waited until a few minutes before you knew Jed was due
- 25:30to arrive. Then you turned on the gas, tied yourself in the chairs
- 25:33best you could, and waited for Jed. You knew there was no danger
- 25:37of your suffocate hi before Jed arrived, and you knew that Jed was half
- 25:38in love with you already, and that when he found you in that very
- 25:41feminine, attractive garment, he'd never noticed that the nuts whitch bound you were
- 25:45tied very clumsily and not very secure back to life. She was all tied
- 25:48up good and TIC's what she wanted you to think. Why should she do
- 25:49it? Yes, Nick, what earthly reason would she have to do it?
- 25:53I didn't do it. I didn't do it. Eh. Remember when
- 25:57we approached the house this morning, we saw smoke out of the chimney.
- 26:00Yes, well, and I remembered that smoke. A little while ago,
- 26:03I went down to have a look at the furnace. I was curious whether
- 26:06it'd be a fire going on a warm day like this, And I found
- 26:10this a letter from Henry's real wife in the city, saying that she was
- 26:15happy he had at last decided to return to her and his son from whom
- 26:18he'd run away when he came here with Laura. And there was the motive
- 26:21plain enough. Laura couldn't bear the thought of his leaving her. There's the
- 26:25blow to her pride that he was tired of her, so she killed him.
- 26:30Her fingerprints around this gun we found. If you want definite proof,
- 26:33all right, I killed it, and I'm glad they couldn't treat me that
- 26:37way. But I never go to the chair. I'll kill myself first.
- 26:41Better take her away well and keep your eye on her. Murder Demman's at
- 26:45the murderer pay the penalty for his crime, guy sneak. I still can't
- 26:49believe it. She was such a darn nice little girl. I nik if
- 26:52she hadn't tried to burn that letter, she might have gotten away with it.
- 26:56Yes, Betsy, that was what first led me to think she did
- 26:59it. Until I found that letter, I could find no motive for her
- 27:02killing him. And without the motive, nothing made sense. But the furnace
- 27:07was so choked with the ashes that the papers she tried to burn just smoon
- 27:10it. And where there's smoke, you know as I know where there's smoke.

- 28:52was heart failure, a young man felt so sure that his uncle had been
- 28:56murdered that he arranged a midnight Seans with the famous medium and had everyone who
- 29:02could have committed the murder there to see what went on And did the medium
- 29:04succeed in contacting the dead uncle? She claims she did. Everyone there thought
- 29:08they recognized his voice, and did he accuse anyone of murdering him? That's

- 30:23America and saying, so long until next week. This is mutual welcome back.
- 30:45To be honest, the only person I didn't suspect other than of course,
- 30:49Nick and Patsy was the guy that they arrested, because that would be
- 30:56just a total departure to have that type of person actually behind the crime.
- 31:00Well, now we turn to listener comments and feed back, and Joseph Allen
- 31:06left some comments regarding a Nick Carter collection he picked up and some of the
- 31:11SPSIC questions about the relationship between Scubby Wilson and Patsy Bowen because he heard an
- 31:18episode on that set that identified them as a couple. The one thing advantage
- 31:26that we have listening to the show is that we come on each episode together,
- 31:33so we get to see how the show develops. So I'm actually have
- 31:38not listened to Nick Carter beyond the episode we're currently playing, so we'll see
- 31:44how that works out later on in the show. But he comments, what
- 31:47makes Nick Carter an enduring detective is that he can work through the most perplexing
- 31:51cases despite being flummixed as to what happened and Nick Carter, and I think
- 31:57that does go back to the Nick Carter books. He was just very much
- 32:04a soul. He wasn't I think as brilliant as some of the other detectives,
- 32:10certainly not as smart as near a wolf or Father Brown, but he
- 32:16was you couldn't determine. And he was also incredibly courageous and willing to press
- 32:25through even the most difficult situations, and that I think is what makes Nick
- 32:30Carter such a great detective. Thanks so much for that comment, Joseph,
- 32:35And we also have a comment on podcast. Alley G. D Pine says,
- 32:39great show and great host. Well, thanks so much. Well,
- 32:44I will do it for today. We will be back tomorrow as we wrap
- 32:47up the Older Matter, and then join us back here on Thursday for another
- 32:53episode of Nick Carter. In the meantime, send your comments to Box thirteen
