- 0:43Speaker 4: Did you? Either shanahan or McVeigh kind of guy that's
- 0:46Speaker 4: really the same tree, with some variances as to how
- 0:49Speaker 4: they do things.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Top hands, all tight hands, right.
- 0:52Speaker 5: Paull of a sudden, where is this? Where's the sweatshirt been?
- 0:55Speaker 5: For the last five years I've been here, I've never
- 0:56Speaker 5: seen him in it.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Is there a chance that I haven't won this sweatshirt
- 0:59Speaker 4: in five years? I would have Probably I would. I
- 1:01Speaker 4: would have made a mental her own database for paulk.
- 1:03Speaker 1: If you could have Bill.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Belichick be like, here's what just happened on that play.
- 1:07Speaker 4: And everybody and everybody will lose their minds. Belichick just
- 1:12Speaker 4: said the word in the same sentence.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Oh my god, mind blowing one hundred percent two thousand
- 1:18Speaker 1: and three Sound Odyssey Super sequel, And that's been dropped.
- 1:24Speaker 1: From what I understand, I think if Bill Belichick is
- 1:26Speaker 1: mentioned in it.
- 1:27Speaker 5: No, no, nothing, Bill, we do it kind of like
- 1:30Speaker 5: Madden does, where like we just call him any coach.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:33Speaker 4: I was one of the people that that Mike interviewed,
- 1:35Speaker 4: so you know that Bill was was involved.
- 1:38Speaker 1: You know, Bill got Keeper of the Flame Apella. This
- 1:42Speaker 1: is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:43Speaker 6: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals buy a Toyota
- 1:47Speaker 6: dot com.
- 1:50Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:54Speaker 1: at Jill's Stadium, and the search for staff continues. But
- 1:59Speaker 1: I think we're sixty six percent of the way there
- 2:02Speaker 1: and probably one hundred percent of the way there if
- 2:05Speaker 1: all the reports are accurate. Uh, in terms of the coordinators.
- 2:09Speaker 1: So we have reports, no, well, we've got DeMarcus Covington, yes,
- 2:12Speaker 1: pretty much confirmed. We got Jerry Springer affirm for.
- 2:16Speaker 4: The Jerry Jerry, Jared, Jeremy Jeremy and Jerry.
- 2:22Speaker 5: Is that is true that is true.
- 2:26Speaker 1: So you are the special teams coordinator. Isn't that how
- 2:31Speaker 1: Jerry Springer does it? Correct?
- 2:33Speaker 4: That's that's.
- 2:35Speaker 7: You're the father different Okay, Jerry was just fights okay,
- 2:40Speaker 7: all right?
- 2:41Speaker 1: And Jeremy Springer special teams coordinator. And it looks like
- 2:45Speaker 1: Nick Kayley. It seems that like everybody's saying it, like,
- 2:50Speaker 1: so it must be out there that you know, but
- 2:53Speaker 1: it's not confirmed, not official, but it looks like Nick Kayley,
- 2:58Speaker 1: former tight ends coach here, current tight ends coach with
- 3:02Speaker 1: the Rams the ROMs.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Yeah, and some some speculation to just with how Luke
- 3:06Speaker 5: gets he might fit into this because he worked with
- 3:09Speaker 5: with Kaylee back in college. So there's maybe I've seen
- 3:12Speaker 5: I think Mark Dangels was speculating that maybe, you know,
- 3:14Speaker 5: would make sense to have a passing game coordinator.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Imagine that that would be pretty fun.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I mean, you know, and that's the other thing.
- 3:22Speaker 4: The passing game.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I guess let's assume you're going to have a new quarterback.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Who's the quarterback coach? That's it?
- 3:29Speaker 4: Yeah, if one of those guys, that's what I would
- 3:31Speaker 4: be interested. If one of those guys has worked with quarterbacks, right,
- 3:34Speaker 4: you know, can GETSI be the quarterbacks coach under I'd
- 3:38Speaker 4: be interested in something.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I mean, there is a lot of hand ringing. And
- 3:41Speaker 1: by the way, it's Deuce, it's Alex, it's Paul, it's me.
- 3:45Speaker 1: There's a lot of hand ringing about the youth and
- 3:47Speaker 1: inexperience of the staff so far, and it's justified.
- 3:51Speaker 4: We have a forty right now.
- 3:54Speaker 1: You forget about Kayley would yeah, barely, Yeah, I mean
- 3:58Speaker 1: forget about the age, which you know is a factor
- 4:01Speaker 1: only because of the experience. You know, none of these
- 4:04Speaker 1: guys have done what they are going to do. Yeah
- 4:07Speaker 1: for the Patriots, right, No, right, and you've got potentially
- 4:13Speaker 1: a rookie quarterback. You know, it's it's it could be
- 4:19Speaker 1: an issue. It could be an issue, or it could
- 4:21Speaker 1: be great.
- 4:22Speaker 4: But Freddie callin off twenty four season already.
- 4:25Speaker 1: No, No, I'm not. But it's just something to think about,
- 4:28Speaker 1: like the lack of experience that you know, we're going
- 4:31Speaker 1: into the season with, and so I think it would
- 4:34Speaker 1: behoove them to hire a couple advisors, you know, guys
- 4:38Speaker 1: that have been in the league for a while seen
- 4:40Speaker 1: it all just to you know, have to be a
- 4:42Speaker 1: shoulder to lean on.
- 4:43Speaker 4: That's why I like Mike's theory on Getzi, just because
- 4:46Speaker 4: he at least has done it, and I don't know
- 4:47Speaker 4: how good he is at it. I know it didn't
- 4:49Speaker 4: work great in Chicago, but at least he has some
- 4:51Speaker 4: experience running an offense, calling plays, working with a quarterback.
- 4:56Speaker 4: If he's part of the staff, I think I feel
- 4:57Speaker 4: a little better.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Of especially a lot of people people, you know, with
- 5:00Speaker 1: the theory that the theory of getting justin fields.
- 5:04Speaker 4: But I'd be interested.
- 5:06Speaker 1: But they didn't like him in Chicago?
- 5:07Speaker 8: Right?
- 5:08Speaker 4: Would he be a good Jets or a bad Jets? Yeah?
- 5:11Speaker 4: They didn't. Well, he was obviously the fall guy they
- 5:13Speaker 4: didn't like. They didn't like his work in Chicago. He
- 5:15Speaker 4: lost his job, right he was.
- 5:17Speaker 5: He was one of the Senior Bowl coaches last year too.
- 5:19Speaker 4: He's miked up. So now just good guy, good way
- 5:21Speaker 4: about him?
- 5:22Speaker 5: I mean, I kind of you know, I just thought
- 5:23Speaker 5: it seems like a guy, seems like somebody'd like to
- 5:26Speaker 5: have around.
- 5:26Speaker 1: So who are the who are the shoulders to lean
- 5:29Speaker 1: on for girod Mayo, for the offensive coordinator who's never
- 5:32Speaker 1: done it? For the DC who's never done it? You know?
- 5:36Speaker 9: How?
- 5:36Speaker 4: And how much of a leash does this. I don't
- 5:38Speaker 4: know leash, but you know, how much time do they have,
- 5:41Speaker 4: Like you know what I mean?
- 5:42Speaker 5: I like Jromeo is certainly like he's got a chance
- 5:44Speaker 5: to build his team and everything. But you know, right
- 5:46Speaker 5: now this is shaping up to be We're going to
- 5:48Speaker 5: be a young coaching staff and a young team and
- 5:52Speaker 5: we're gonna.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Have to all figure it out together.
- 5:53Speaker 1: If they show competence, if things are buttoned up, if
- 5:56Speaker 1: it seems to be organized, if the players under stand
- 6:00Speaker 1: what they're being told and it makes sense, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 1: you give him three years anyway. If things are just
- 6:06Speaker 1: a hot mess, then you got you probably need to
- 6:09Speaker 1: cut the cord earlier. But you know that I think
- 6:13Speaker 1: takes care of itself by what it actually happens. I
- 6:15Speaker 1: don't think you go into it and say it's three
- 6:17Speaker 1: years no matter what.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Were you won Felger Mass yesterday, I was okay, I
- 6:21Speaker 5: tuned into like five oh five, but I was in
- 6:23Speaker 5: the middle of Felger just like the darkest of times
- 6:26Speaker 5: for the So.
- 6:28Speaker 4: This is actually funny. So I always tell you guys,
- 6:31Speaker 4: like how the emails go in the morning, And evidently
- 6:34Speaker 4: Mike woke up Wednesday morning and just had an epiphany
- 6:38Speaker 4: that wow, they really are like not really good and
- 6:42Speaker 4: they're yeah, sounded like they're far away, right. It was
- 6:46Speaker 4: amazing and they were follow thirteen and it's four years
- 6:51Speaker 4: of no offense, Like we will like started on them,
- 6:54Speaker 4: all three of us, Jim, Murray, Tony and myself, and
- 6:57Speaker 4: we're all like, you just get into this now, Mike,
- 7:00Speaker 4: and he's like, I know, I know, and that that
- 7:02Speaker 4: was his whole show yesterday, just kept saying he goes
- 7:04Speaker 4: and I know I'm late to the party. Everybody else
- 7:06Speaker 4: has been telling me, but but yeah, I just like
- 7:09Speaker 4: they have no receivers, they have no offense the line,
- 7:13Speaker 4: they have no quarterback, have nobody to coach the quarterback.
- 7:16Speaker 4: I love that they have no scheme.
- 7:17Speaker 5: It's like, I mean, I get what you're saying, Felger,
- 7:20Speaker 5: but like it's been a week and a half since
- 7:21Speaker 5: they fired, like they got give them somebody.
- 7:23Speaker 4: It's amazing that like he woke up yesterday and decided
- 7:27Speaker 4: that all these things were true when we tiggered this, well,
- 7:30Speaker 4: he just watched the last two years of the worst
- 7:32Speaker 4: offensive football.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I think on his part, a lot of this showmanship, Like.
- 7:36Speaker 4: I don't think a lot of this was showmanship. Usually
- 7:39Speaker 4: it is.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I I agree.
- 7:40Speaker 5: I love how Paul's describing because the reason I brought
- 7:42Speaker 5: it up, I thought the same thing. And I mean
- 7:44Speaker 5: I just I flipped on at five, and I think
- 7:46Speaker 5: they usually do kind of a recap of what they've
- 7:47Speaker 5: been doing, and and that's what he did. He was
- 7:50Speaker 5: just going right down the line.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And I'm like, I.
- 7:52Speaker 5: Mean, like, I yeah, but like dude, we're a week
- 7:55Speaker 5: and a half into a completely new regime, like you know,
- 7:58Speaker 5: like I know, it's a long way to go, but
- 8:00Speaker 5: it was just kind of straight.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I mean, they've had problems with the offense since Cam Newton,
- 8:05Speaker 1: and this year they were four and thirteen, you know,
- 8:09Speaker 1: for the most part because of the offense, and you know,
- 8:14Speaker 1: it's it's a bad situation. They're they're you know, I
- 8:16Speaker 1: don't say the whole team, but from the offense. I
- 8:18Speaker 1: think they're building from the ground up. And this gets to.
- 8:21Speaker 4: It's a complete total rebuilding.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and this gets to the other thing that you know,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I don't know what the exact number was, but it's
- 8:28Speaker 1: eleven ocs that they've or potential ocs that they've talked to.
- 8:31Speaker 1: A lot of people have turned down the job, stay
- 8:33Speaker 1: where they are. You know, if you're looking for two
- 8:37Speaker 1: years of success to get a head coaching job, this
- 8:39Speaker 1: is a bad job for you because you're not gonna
- 8:42Speaker 1: do it. But if you're interested in building.
- 8:46Speaker 4: This is what you yelled at me for the other day.
- 8:48Speaker 1: No, But if you're interested in building an offense in
- 8:50Speaker 1: your own image from the ground up, this is a
- 8:53Speaker 1: good job. You're gonna have a top pick, You're gonna
- 8:55Speaker 1: you're gonna be able to do that. You've got some
- 8:57Speaker 1: money to spend or burn, as the head coach would say.
- 9:01Speaker 1: So it did. But if you're looking for that quick
- 9:04Speaker 1: fix just to move on to be a head coach
- 9:05Speaker 1: really quickly, you know, this would be a tough one.
- 9:08Speaker 5: I think that was the thing that resonated like through
- 9:11Speaker 5: Felger's craziness. But it I mean, you're right, Like it's not.
- 9:14Speaker 5: I think everyone's looking at like the third overall pick
- 9:16Speaker 5: and the cap space and the available free agents, and
- 9:20Speaker 5: and it's like, yeah, they have they have resources, but
- 9:22Speaker 5: they can't fix everything on offense in this happen. There's
- 9:26Speaker 5: no way they're gonna plug every single hole. So really
- 9:29Speaker 5: the conversation now becomes, what are you willing to punt
- 9:32Speaker 5: on like what do you think you cannot wait for?
- 9:34Speaker 1: Like what you know?
- 9:35Speaker 5: And that's you know, when you get back to the
- 9:37Speaker 5: conversation we had on Tuesday with the third quarterback, Like,
- 9:40Speaker 5: you know, is it do you take the third quarterback?
- 9:43Speaker 1: Or do you say?
- 9:43Speaker 5: Look, I mean if you love him, yes, yeah, I
- 9:46Speaker 5: don't like if you're wishy washy no, And I feel
- 9:49Speaker 5: wishy washy right now about it.
- 9:51Speaker 1: But you're not selecting now, I know.
- 9:53Speaker 4: But like for me, it's Drake May. Yeah, the guy
- 9:55Speaker 4: is Drake May, I'll take him. If it's Jayden Daniels,
- 9:58Speaker 4: I wish you was, yeah, whoever it is.
- 10:00Speaker 1: If your guy is there, you need to take him.
- 10:03Speaker 1: But if he's if if you're making, if you're settling,
- 10:07Speaker 1: then don't pull. Then trade down or take Marvin Harrison
- 10:11Speaker 1: or whatever. But don't waste it on a guy you're
- 10:14Speaker 1: not sold on.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Yeah, do his trade down?
- 10:16Speaker 5: As in play, I think it is well and I
- 10:22Speaker 5: mean just a you know senior bull shout out, you know,
- 10:24Speaker 5: watching something I asked. I mean there's just there's a
- 10:26Speaker 5: bevy of tackles that are just big, mean, you know,
- 10:30Speaker 5: great prospects that are going to go throughout the first round.
- 10:33Speaker 5: So it's you know, now it just gets back to
- 10:35Speaker 5: like these discussions that we have every off season of
- 10:37Speaker 5: like if a class is stacked, well do you just
- 10:40Speaker 5: wait for one of them? Or do you say I
- 10:41Speaker 5: want the best one of all these tackles. I mean
- 10:43Speaker 5: I think this, you know, you talk about the league
- 10:45Speaker 5: needs tackles so bad. Right now this class is like
- 10:47Speaker 5: a godsend to so many teams. But now it's like
- 10:50Speaker 5: jockeying for position, and it's yes, there's a lot of them,
- 10:53Speaker 5: but you love all of them? Are you sure on
- 10:54Speaker 5: all of them?
- 10:55Speaker 1: Or And that's the temptation for the Patriots is other
- 10:59Speaker 1: than quarterback, you're gonna be able to pick the best
- 11:01Speaker 1: player at any position. Yeah, and that and to that point,
- 11:05Speaker 1: fred I, you know, as it stands right now, barring
- 11:08Speaker 1: a trade of those top two picks, I feel like
- 11:09Speaker 1: the Patriots kind of control the draft.
- 11:12Speaker 5: In some ways. I think was it a couple years ago,
- 11:14Speaker 5: same kind of thing where it's like, you know who
- 11:15Speaker 5: the first couple of picks are going to be, But
- 11:17Speaker 5: what's that next team gonna do? Are they gonna trade
- 11:19Speaker 5: out and allow everything to kind of go sideways or
- 11:21Speaker 5: are they going to make a pick off the beaten path.
- 11:23Speaker 5: That's that's gonna screw everything up. For all these mock
- 11:26Speaker 5: drafts that are you know this Williams may Daniels, Williams
- 11:29Speaker 5: may Daniels, I mean just pretty much everyone I look
- 11:32Speaker 5: at is Williams may Daniels.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah, none have Harrison.
- 11:36Speaker 4: I had not that.
- 11:37Speaker 5: I mean not that I you know, not that I'm
- 11:38Speaker 5: like going through every single one like it's but but
- 11:40Speaker 5: are they.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Are the mocks that you're looking at based on just
- 11:44Speaker 1: the value chart or the need of the team as
- 11:47Speaker 1: well and what you think the team will Because that's
- 11:50Speaker 1: assuming that the Patriots like Daniels. They may not like him, right,
- 11:53Speaker 1: and then that then your mock.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Draft is screwed and you never know. And yeah, I
- 11:57Speaker 4: mean the value probably would have Harrison.
- 12:00Speaker 1: In the right right, That's what I'm saying.
- 12:02Speaker 4: That's yeah, yeah, but that's not how you do mock drafts.
- 12:05Speaker 1: No, you shouldn't anyway.
- 12:07Speaker 4: I mean I've seen now there's different Like Daniel Jeremiah
- 12:09Speaker 4: has his top fifty and he I assume that he
- 12:12Speaker 4: has Harrison in the top three.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I think he's I think he's too. Actually, I
- 12:16Speaker 5: think it's william Sais that makes.
- 12:17Speaker 4: That makes sense to me? Yeah, I mean, and I
- 12:21Speaker 4: get your point, But I think actually Chicago at the top,
- 12:25Speaker 4: because of their situation with fields, they have a lot
- 12:28Speaker 4: of control of the draft.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Do you think that they would wait on fields though,
- 12:30Speaker 5: or is that something that would happen, you know, a
- 12:32Speaker 5: week or two before the drive. I mean we're not
- 12:34Speaker 5: talking day one, like the night of the draft, that
- 12:36Speaker 5: they would move. I mean when did they make that decision.
- 12:39Speaker 4: They're probably in conversations with teams about trades, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 4: leading in and then based on how those trades go,
- 12:46Speaker 4: then you determine what you want to do with fields, right,
- 12:50Speaker 4: because I don't think you keep both. No, I mean
- 12:53Speaker 4: you could. You could roll the dice with him and say, well,
- 12:57Speaker 4: we have a fourth year quarterback. We can keep them
- 13:00Speaker 4: and he plays this year, we draft Caleb Williams, but
- 13:03Speaker 4: he plays, and then we let him walk. Yeah, in
- 13:07Speaker 4: no way, then Caleb Williams sits a year. I mean,
- 13:10Speaker 4: it's not the worst plan that I've ever heard. It's
- 13:12Speaker 4: probably harder to do emotionally saying it just looks like
- 13:16Speaker 4: on paper right, well, the nerds would like it. When no, no,
- 13:19Speaker 4: that's what you do with math. So that's right here
- 13:21Speaker 4: at math.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, if you if you're gonna pick a
- 13:24Speaker 1: guy you know high like that, it's the intent. He's
- 13:29Speaker 1: going to be the starter someday. I don't care what
- 13:31Speaker 1: Fields does, like.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Oh right, that's what I'm saying. You let him play
- 13:34Speaker 4: his fourth year. It's in his best interest to play
- 13:36Speaker 4: as well as he can. It's not like he's gonna
- 13:37Speaker 4: dump on, right, and then you let him walk, Yeah,
- 13:40Speaker 4: and then Caleb Williams is the starter in year two.
- 13:42Speaker 1: No matter how good Fields.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Is, right, Yeah, but it's got to be appealing for
- 13:46Speaker 5: Chicago to think we can move Fields and get some
- 13:48Speaker 5: draft capital and then we can put more around Williams
- 13:50Speaker 5: rather than The question is when you could even decide
- 13:53Speaker 5: at the trade deadline, like maybe he plays a good
- 13:56Speaker 5: half a season and you know, maybe you're in it,
- 13:58Speaker 5: maybe you're not, but he plays really well, and then
- 14:02Speaker 5: you trade him and maybe you can get a second
- 14:04Speaker 5: round pick or something at the deadline, and then you
- 14:06Speaker 5: let Caleb Williams play the rest of the season.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I mean, the question is, you know, for the Bears,
- 14:10Speaker 1: is when will his value be highest on the market
- 14:13Speaker 1: and it's a risk. Is it now, is it just
- 14:17Speaker 1: before the draft? Is it right after the draft? Or
- 14:20Speaker 1: is it after he's played a little bit and maybe
- 14:22Speaker 1: does well. But no matter what you do, you're taking
- 14:26Speaker 1: a risk.
- 14:26Speaker 5: Yeah, what do you wait to see how the free
- 14:28Speaker 5: agency market plays out? And where those guys, you know,
- 14:30Speaker 5: the kirk Cousins of the world, those guys land and
- 14:32Speaker 5: then you.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Know, someone get desperate. Yeah, someone that didn't get it,
- 14:34Speaker 4: you know, does in Atlanta. Maybe they wanted Kirk Cousins,
- 14:37Speaker 4: maybe they wanted Baker Mayfield, they didn't get any of them. Yep,
- 14:41Speaker 4: they come back.
- 14:42Speaker 5: Yeah, So it's tough to put the puzzle together right now.
- 14:46Speaker 5: And I think that's what everybody's kind of starting to do.
- 14:48Speaker 1: And if you're a team that wants Fields or is
- 14:50Speaker 1: interested in it, feels, what's your strategy is it? You know,
- 14:54Speaker 1: give him something, give him a pick now, and get
- 14:56Speaker 1: it done with, you know, and so that it's a
- 14:59Speaker 1: t enough where they can't say no, like a high
- 15:02Speaker 1: second round pick, or do you wait see if the
- 15:06Speaker 1: value goes down? You know, like it's yeah, but if
- 15:09Speaker 1: you really like Fields, I would say, you're you're talking
- 15:12Speaker 1: to them now, you know, are you even interested.
- 15:15Speaker 5: You know, yeah, that's a surprise the rumors haven't started
- 15:18Speaker 5: to kick up.
- 15:18Speaker 4: I mean that's maybe because of the Super Bowl.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Once everybody gets down into down there, they'll start talking.
- 15:23Speaker 5: But it's no, there's just a lot of holes to
- 15:26Speaker 5: be filled for the Patriots. And I think that's what
- 15:28Speaker 5: everybody is kind of at right now of like, you know,
- 15:30Speaker 5: looking at yeah, that number three overall pick. It's great,
- 15:32Speaker 5: we can talk about you know what three guys that
- 15:34Speaker 5: that you know they might potentially take there, But it's uh,
- 15:37Speaker 5: you know, it's free agency. It's it's all that how
- 15:39Speaker 5: do they how do they build this team? And even
- 15:41Speaker 5: just watching some of you know, the Senior Bowl, it's
- 15:43Speaker 5: like what am I even looking at?
- 15:44Speaker 4: Like you know who who?
- 15:45Speaker 5: Like what is Nick Keyley like like you know on
- 15:47Speaker 5: deep what like is it still kind of are they
- 15:49Speaker 5: running the same stuff still? Like I don't they want
- 15:51Speaker 5: those same kind of guys, like you know, every time
- 15:53Speaker 5: there'd be like a special teams player from Navy, you know, like,
- 15:56Speaker 5: oh I gotta watch this guy. You know, I mean
- 15:58Speaker 5: I'm joking with that part, but you know what I
- 15:59Speaker 5: mean long snapper from Navy. You know, So it's I
- 16:05Speaker 5: think it's just it's hard. You don't know exactly how
- 16:08Speaker 5: it's all gonna come together, how they're going to even
- 16:09Speaker 5: try to put this offense together.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Other news, Uh, Dan Quinn reportedly is going to be
- 16:16Speaker 1: the Commander's head coach. So that's it. All the head
- 16:20Speaker 1: coaching vacancies have been filled.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Well till after the Super Bowl Kansas.
- 16:24Speaker 1: City, Well, the Freed steps down.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Chefter just keeps saying it, and I think it's so odd.
- 16:31Speaker 3: He's just trying to manifest speak.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Why is there any kind of like evidence that he
- 16:37Speaker 5: might do then.
- 16:37Speaker 4: That Andy Reid might step down, Yeah, you go out
- 16:40Speaker 4: on top.
- 16:40Speaker 1: He might have said it to somebody.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Said here, He's been saying it for the last couple
- 16:45Speaker 4: of years. But I just don't think it makes any
- 16:47Speaker 4: sense to replace him with Bill Belichick. Now, I don't
- 16:49Speaker 4: think it makes any sense. Well, they have two former
- 16:52Speaker 4: head coaches on staff, so if you don't hire one
- 16:55Speaker 4: of those guys, you're blowing out the whole staff for
- 16:58Speaker 4: a team that, in this in this hypothetical, is back
- 17:02Speaker 4: to back Super Bowl champion. And I'm just gonna say,
- 17:05Speaker 4: you know what, that was too much success. Let's blow
- 17:08Speaker 4: it all up. Well, I don't think it makes any
- 17:09Speaker 4: sense at all.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Do you have to blow it up? I mean, in
- 17:12Speaker 1: this case, if it's all you know, I've never heard
- 17:15Speaker 1: Bill say this, but if it's true that he really
- 17:17Speaker 1: wants to break down Shoulea's record, for this situation, you
- 17:22Speaker 1: might make a concession. Say I'm just gonna come in
- 17:24Speaker 1: and coach and win games with the best quarterback in
- 17:27Speaker 1: the in the league for a few years and then quit.
- 17:29Speaker 4: But way Spagnolo and Naggy say, they stay with me,
- 17:34Speaker 4: see you, Well, I don't know.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Maybe they want to keep winning too. It's fun to
- 17:39Speaker 1: be on a team that wins, you know. I don't know.
- 17:42Speaker 4: You know, I don't think there's any chance that Bill
- 17:44Speaker 4: Belichick would be the coach and the rest of the
- 17:46Speaker 4: staff would stay.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Matt Naggi's not going to be the head coach. I
- 17:49Speaker 1: don't stunk in Chicago.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Well, spag Stunk is a head coach too, But they're
- 17:53Speaker 4: former head coaches. They're going to leave.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Well yeah, but neither one of them is going to
- 17:57Speaker 1: be the new head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Of that, I don't. I think they'd be crazy to
- 18:02Speaker 1: do that.
- 18:03Speaker 4: I'm not sure of.
- 18:03Speaker 5: That the enemy maybe bring the enemy back maybe you know, but.
- 18:08Speaker 4: I could do that the enemy with with maybe Naggie
- 18:11Speaker 4: would stay for that.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Yeah. To me, those two guys are where they should be.
- 18:14Speaker 1: They should be coordinators. That's their ceiling. And sometimes you
- 18:18Speaker 1: realize that, you know.
- 18:20Speaker 5: Is heck of a He's.
- 18:22Speaker 1: A really good defensive coordinator and that's that's that's his calling.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I just find it crazy. Spags, I think is probably
- 18:28Speaker 4: content with it. Naggie, I guess what's Naggie is he's
- 18:31Speaker 4: looking for another shot, and I don't think he'd be
- 18:34Speaker 4: wrong to I think he had more success than other
- 18:36Speaker 4: guys that got second shots.
- 18:38Speaker 5: It's just such a heater, Like who would dump Patrick
- 18:40Speaker 5: Mahomes in the prime of his career and be like
- 18:42Speaker 5: I'm good, I can like there's so much, like, so
- 18:45Speaker 5: many more games to win with that guy, Like you're
- 18:47Speaker 5: going to tap out now, Like it's it's not that hard.
- 18:49Speaker 1: So I I think that I could see a situation
- 18:53Speaker 1: where Belichick comes in and is just the coach and
- 18:58Speaker 1: you know, they keep winning.
- 19:01Speaker 4: What about Buffalo, Well, I think they would keep winning
- 19:03Speaker 4: if Belichick was the coach, because it's the best team
- 19:05Speaker 4: in football.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:06Speaker 4: I don't see any scenario that the staff all just
- 19:08Speaker 4: stays in place and Bill just becomes the head coach,
- 19:11Speaker 4: because you think he gets his kids are coming with him,
- 19:14Speaker 4: Patricia's coming, McDaniels is coming.
- 19:16Speaker 1: But maybe not. I mean you're just assuming all that.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Maybe I forgot about Joe Judge.
- 19:22Speaker 5: But if Bill takes a year off, though, does that
- 19:25Speaker 5: affect his chances? You think?
- 19:26Speaker 1: Or I think it does. I think everyone's saying, oh,
- 19:29Speaker 1: all these other jobs are going to open up, and
- 19:31Speaker 1: there are always jobs that open up, you know, but
- 19:35Speaker 1: you know, now he's even a year older.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, right, he's gotten out of that just
- 19:41Speaker 5: I mean, he's been in this rhythm for what.
- 19:43Speaker 4: I had a conversation with Chris Jasper about it. He
- 19:45Speaker 4: seems to think it'd be great for him take a
- 19:47Speaker 4: step back. You'd be further removed from the stink of
- 19:50Speaker 4: the four and thirteen. I'm like, yeah, and he'd be
- 19:52Speaker 4: a year older. He's going to be seventy three when
- 19:55Speaker 4: he's looking for another job and you're out of the league,
- 19:57Speaker 4: like you're not.
- 19:58Speaker 5: I mean, maybe he would continue to watch film and
- 20:00Speaker 5: players and break down and stay up on everything. But
- 20:03Speaker 5: like I got to imagine. It's hard to I mean,
- 20:06Speaker 5: Sean Pink could probably tell you what it's like.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, other guys have done it. It's not
- 20:10Speaker 1: unprecedented that coaches have been out of it come back
- 20:14Speaker 1: and get head coaching jobs. So it's not unprecedented. But
- 20:18Speaker 1: I don't know, it's it's it just depends on what
- 20:23Speaker 1: his demand.
- 20:23Speaker 4: It's not unprecedented to take a year off. It would
- 20:26Speaker 4: be unprecedented to take a year off at age seventy two.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's ever been done.
- 20:31Speaker 4: That's therefore unprecedented.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's Bill Belichick.
- 20:35Speaker 4: I mean, no, there's probably there's always going to be
- 20:38Speaker 4: a team. Will mean I put him. He just had
- 20:41Speaker 4: six openings and didn't get any of them. I know,
- 20:43Speaker 4: but and talk to reportedly one team.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Well that's the thing. He only talked to one team.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I mean, it's no one else wanted them, Fred, I
- 20:51Speaker 1: don't know about that. I think the Cowboys wanted him, agin.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I think I think Bill said, when you have an opening,
- 20:57Speaker 1: i'll talk to you. I'm not going to talk to
- 20:58Speaker 1: you while you have a coach demployed. I just won't
- 21:01Speaker 1: get don't job a.
- 21:02Speaker 10: Couple of games next year early on like I could
- 21:04Speaker 10: see them parting ways with Mike McCarthy and Belichick sitting there.
- 21:08Speaker 4: I could see them parting ways with Mike McCarthy. But
- 21:11Speaker 4: I don't think like automatically means that Bill is going there. Definitely.
- 21:17Speaker 10: I just like especially with Rabel also, like that's another thing.
- 21:21Speaker 10: Mike Rabel doesn't get a job right now, that's true.
- 21:23Speaker 11: Coach of the Year how many seasons ago, like.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Two, Yeah, what does he do this year?
- 21:28Speaker 3: I don't know, special advisors.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Everybody talks about Bill going to the booth. I think
- 21:34Speaker 1: I think Rabel would be a great analyst. Kidding me,
- 21:38Speaker 1: he would be a guy who's not afraid to say things.
- 21:41Speaker 5: Well, I got a text from our producer Don Maxon,
- 21:44Speaker 5: who's a big BC guy, and he was, you know,
- 21:45Speaker 5: lamenting Jeff Hafley leaving in the middle of the night
- 21:48Speaker 5: to go to Green Bay, and I said, go give Rabel.
- 21:51Speaker 4: But you know, I think it's it's becoming.
- 21:53Speaker 5: More of a thing now with college, with all the
- 21:54Speaker 5: NIL stuff, and it's becoming a different environment. And I
- 21:58Speaker 5: don't know if it's the same kind of I mean,
- 22:00Speaker 5: maybe it never was that appealing thing to NFL coaches generally,
- 22:03Speaker 5: but it's a different ballgame now in college, and I
- 22:05Speaker 5: think you have to be ready to deal with all
- 22:07Speaker 5: that stuff. Now.
- 22:08Speaker 4: My first thought with BC was your old buddy. I
- 22:11Speaker 4: wonder if he regrets yeah from Holy Cross.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Jmu Well, I mean, you know college football escape better
- 22:18Speaker 5: than me. What would be James Madison or BC?
- 22:20Speaker 1: What would be?
- 22:21Speaker 9: No?
- 22:21Speaker 8: What?
- 22:21Speaker 4: BC? Obviously you know a higher job in terms of
- 22:24Speaker 4: acc and all that stuff. But I'm just saying if
- 22:26Speaker 4: he didn't hadn't already taken that, if this, I wonder
- 22:30Speaker 4: if he would have thought differently. I don't know where
- 22:32Speaker 4: he's from originally.
- 22:34Speaker 5: He's from Pennsylvania actually, but he's been in Assumption and.
- 22:37Speaker 4: But it's not like it had to be New England.
- 22:40Speaker 4: That was something he was always thinking of for Vrabel.
- 22:42Speaker 4: I don't think BC makes a ton of sense. I
- 22:44Speaker 4: don't think this kid went there right. I don't think
- 22:46Speaker 4: it's a great job.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Was the halfway thing like a shocker to BC?
- 22:51Speaker 5: Or had planning?
- 22:52Speaker 4: Well?
- 22:52Speaker 5: I saw Kevin Stone write in a little bit about it.
- 22:55Speaker 5: I think he said, all of a sudden, like all
- 22:56Speaker 5: the football team got up last night at like halftime
- 22:58Speaker 5: of a basketball game PC and like walked out because
- 23:00Speaker 5: they had just heard that, Like so I think.
- 23:03Speaker 4: It was a surprise to a lot of people.
- 23:06Speaker 1: So they in other words, it's going to take them
- 23:09Speaker 1: a little while for this search. They don't have a
- 23:11Speaker 1: guy lined up, no.
- 23:13Speaker 5: No, and it seems like a lot of that's been
- 23:15Speaker 5: been done already, so.
- 23:16Speaker 4: It is a little late too for colleges.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Well if it's usually whoever, the head coach of BC
- 23:22Speaker 1: has spoken at the coaches clinic that I do, and
- 23:26Speaker 1: you know, this year, like for some reason b C
- 23:28Speaker 1: wouldn't commit. They sent one guy like one of the assistants,
- 23:32Speaker 1: and it's like that's kind of weird, you know, and
- 23:35Speaker 1: now we know why.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Did you get any of the holy Cross guys?
- 23:38Speaker 1: Just one so far? Drew Canan he didn't go, No,
- 23:43Speaker 1: I know's he went with him, But about going somebody
- 23:47Speaker 1: else running Holy Cross, there's a lot of shake up
- 23:51Speaker 1: right now, so we're slow in getting our clinicians in.
- 23:56Speaker 5: I want to go to that this year.
- 23:57Speaker 4: I always want to just go and listen, did you
- 23:59Speaker 4: just get to talk?
- 24:01Speaker 1: I could that'll yeah, you know, uh x y concepts
- 24:09Speaker 1: don't know what he calls.
- 24:12Speaker 5: Yeh, leak leak pull pin pin pull.
- 24:17Speaker 4: You can't pull before you pin. If you you're gonna
- 24:19Speaker 4: have a bad time. Even I knew that one.
- 24:23Speaker 12: Scheme.
- 24:23Speaker 1: All right, what else before we open it up to
- 24:26Speaker 1: the listeners, we talked about no game this weekend, No
- 24:30Speaker 1: game this weekend, No.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Picks, don't hurt. No, I'll give the results though, you know,
- 24:34Speaker 4: at the end of the show, I'll give the results,
- 24:36Speaker 4: and uh, we'll get ready for the last one. Yeah, Freddy,
- 24:40Speaker 4: he's got a little competition.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Okay, all right, not.
- 24:43Speaker 5: Really postseason he kicks it into a new level.
- 24:46Speaker 4: You know, it's got a feel for the league. Well,
- 24:49Speaker 4: you know what the problem? You know, fred actually gets
- 24:51Speaker 4: better in the in the postseason because all the teams
- 24:54Speaker 4: that he has generally don't make the playoffs. That's why
- 24:58Speaker 4: last year and last year he rug the last couple
- 25:00Speaker 4: of years he struggled in the postseason because the Bengals
- 25:02Speaker 4: have been part of the playoffs. This year, they were
- 25:05Speaker 4: back to being the Bengals. It's gonna be.
- 25:06Speaker 5: Interesting to see with Joe Burrow comes back, how he
- 25:08Speaker 5: kind of fits into what we've learned this year of
- 25:11Speaker 5: just Patrick Mahomes continuing to Yeah, I mean we've.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Given him a pass, but now this is two seasons
- 25:15Speaker 1: where it's been derailed by injury.
- 25:17Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you know, can he get back into that level?
- 25:20Speaker 5: And you know what does it look like? Do they
- 25:21Speaker 5: bring T Higgins back?
- 25:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 25:23Speaker 4: Do you guys read that piece that that Chris Gasper
- 25:26Speaker 4: had yesterday and Brady Senior? No, I saw some highlights
- 25:30Speaker 4: of it. It was very funny, Like the headline was.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Extremely well, that's what that's what I know. I can't
- 25:35Speaker 1: scale the the wall that they have at a globe,
- 25:39Speaker 1: but yeah, well.
- 25:40Speaker 4: I could just give you my heart like if you read.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Like, if you agree that like you thought it was
- 25:45Speaker 1: a lot more rosy from the headline. But when you
- 25:48Speaker 1: get into.
- 25:48Speaker 4: Everybody, this one mildly complimentary quote at the top. It's
- 25:53Speaker 4: the headline is Brady Senior goes to bat for Belichick,
- 25:56Speaker 4: right right, and this one mildly compliment three. Uh, he's
- 26:02Speaker 4: a great, great, great coach, three greats, kind of like
- 26:06Speaker 4: when I called him a very very good draft damn rights. Right.
- 26:10Speaker 4: And then the rest of it is all about how
- 26:13Speaker 4: he didn't do nothing with Brady. He thought he thought
- 26:15Speaker 4: that Brady was done. He went on and won a
- 26:17Speaker 4: Super Bowl without him. It was just like regular Tom.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Brady He's a great, great, great coach, but there was
- 26:22Speaker 1: a butt after that. He's got a personality flaw.
- 26:25Speaker 4: In Foxborough, there's been His interpersonal skills are terrible, are
- 26:29Speaker 4: terrible in Foxborough's has been down in the dump dumper
- 26:33Speaker 4: in the last five years or whatever.
- 26:35Speaker 5: Ou mister Brady put him in the booth.
- 26:39Speaker 4: I'd rather have him in the booth than his son. Yeah,
- 26:42Speaker 4: tell you that.
- 26:43Speaker 1: I'm with you, Paul.
- 26:44Speaker 5: I'm so curious how to say that. I think everybody
- 26:46Speaker 5: kind of default to it. Tom Brady, he'll figure it out.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Well, he's so competitive. He never figured out acting, so
- 26:51Speaker 4: I don't know. It's a good point. And Deuce would know.
- 26:54Speaker 4: You do spend time in Hollywood, Alex, did you know
- 26:57Speaker 4: that Duce used to be in Hollywood? I have a
- 26:59Speaker 4: whole song about it.
- 27:00Speaker 3: You have been working on some screenplays?
- 27:01Speaker 4: Oh god, yeah, you gotta work on that one today.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Fred's notes are these?
- 27:08Speaker 1: What's the genre drama working on?
- 27:10Speaker 5: We're working on our thing, on our little schedule, our thing,
- 27:13Speaker 5: but our thing with Fred gave me some notes, but
- 27:15Speaker 5: it came with the disclaimers.
- 27:16Speaker 4: I don't mind the stain on the front page. That's
- 27:21Speaker 4: to my interview. When I interview with Fred, he had
- 27:23Speaker 4: a stain on his T shirt.
- 27:24Speaker 5: And I was like, well, from the looks, somebody really
- 27:26Speaker 5: liked it.
- 27:30Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 4: I was just getting over the the the unfortunate phrase
- 27:36Speaker 4: from last week.
- 27:38Speaker 1: You know what it is. It's like liquid glue that
- 27:40Speaker 1: I was trying to glue this lamp shade and I
- 27:43Speaker 1: got it all over the place, and it does look
- 27:45Speaker 1: liquid glue, liquid glue office in my office, it does look.
- 27:52Speaker 1: So when I handed Douce, this is.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Either a deviant or he's trying to get high glue.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah. So when I handed Deuced the I said, it's
- 28:01Speaker 1: not what you see.
- 28:05Speaker 4: So we'll be working on that later.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff, good stuff. You smell it. It's glue. Yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 1: I can imagine a photo.
- 28:14Speaker 5: I was about to run through the photocopy of machine.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Just to be safe. I got some late black live.
- 28:20Speaker 4: I don't need a DNA test.
- 28:21Speaker 1: You know what was.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Is that hair? Jim?
- 28:28Speaker 1: I know that movie?
- 28:29Speaker 4: Okay? Freddie got a reference?
- 28:32Speaker 1: Yeah, eight five five pass five hundred is taken hotline
- 28:35Speaker 1: web radio at pages dot com. Is the email address?
- 28:39Speaker 1: All right, let's open it up, right, open it up.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Whatever we missed I'm sure lines over there, it really is.
- 28:46Speaker 1: We got it fixed, right, yeah, ish, Yeah, there's still
- 28:50Speaker 1: a couple of lines down, but we've got four lines working.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Arthur's in New York. What's up, Arthur?
- 28:57Speaker 14: Hey, how are you guys?
- 28:59Speaker 15: First?
- 28:59Speaker 14: I heard Paul say earlier that he was a little
- 29:02Speaker 14: wishy washy on Daniels. Personally, I'm just wishy because I
- 29:06Speaker 14: wish that we just draft this guy. I mean, I
- 29:08Speaker 14: think he's the best quarterback in the draft. If I
- 29:09Speaker 14: had the first kick, I would take him there. But
- 29:12Speaker 14: my second point is there's a lot of people, like
- 29:15Speaker 14: on the internet campaigning about certain offensive coordinators who they
- 29:19Speaker 14: think the best offensive coordinator higher should be. But the
- 29:23Speaker 14: reality is none of us know these guys personally. I mean,
- 29:26Speaker 14: Brian Flurry is the forty nine Ers tight ends coach.
- 29:29Speaker 14: Thomas Brown is the Bears passing game coordinator. I didn't
- 29:33Speaker 14: even know that a passing game coordinator was a thing.
- 29:36Speaker 9: Nick Cayley isn't formerly with the papers, but as the
- 29:39Speaker 9: Rams tight ends coach, how does anybody actually know unless
- 29:42Speaker 9: you are breaking down their playbook know them personally, are
- 29:45Speaker 9: coaching within the building, who the best guy is?
- 29:47Speaker 4: I agree with you, on that on the internet. Yeah,
- 29:49Speaker 4: I agree with you on that. I think people are
- 29:51Speaker 4: just going off of resumes, and that's what I go
- 29:53Speaker 4: off of more than anything. I'm looking for a guy
- 29:55Speaker 4: who actually has some experience calling plays. But I wanted
- 29:58Speaker 4: to get back Athor to your original point about Caleb
- 30:01Speaker 4: Williams and Jade and Daniels. What is it about Daniels
- 30:04Speaker 4: that you like more than Williams.
- 30:06Speaker 9: Well, first of all, the rushing ability is on a
- 30:08Speaker 9: completely different level. He's run for over two thousand yards
- 30:11Speaker 9: and twenty touchdowns over the past two seasons. He is
- 30:13Speaker 9: by far the best rusher in the draft. You could
- 30:16Speaker 9: make a case that Caleb Williams has a little bit
- 30:18Speaker 9: better pocket presence his ability to move around the pocket,
- 30:20Speaker 9: but rushing ability on the whole. If Jayden Daniels couldn't
- 30:23Speaker 9: throw the ball at all, he would still have such
- 30:25Speaker 9: a high four just due to his rushing ability. He's
- 30:27Speaker 9: a better rusher than justin Field in my opinion. He's
- 30:30Speaker 9: that special and electric of a rusher. He can, you know,
- 30:33Speaker 9: snap off a seventy yard run. It's not something that
- 30:35Speaker 9: Caleb Williams is gonna do.
- 30:36Speaker 4: Okay, got it? And I would agree with you. I
- 30:38Speaker 4: think he's a better runner than Caleb Williams.
- 30:40Speaker 9: But he's not just a better runner. He's an elite
- 30:42Speaker 9: runner like Jalen Hurts type.
- 30:44Speaker 4: So would you rather have Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes.
- 30:48Speaker 9: Well, that's that's the thing that I love about Jaden Daniels.
- 30:51Speaker 9: He completed over seventy percent of his passes this year,
- 30:53Speaker 9: even as a true freshman at Arizona State.
- 30:55Speaker 4: In a completely I don't complete seventeen.
- 30:57Speaker 9: Touchdowns to two interceptions, He's it was a beautiful ball.
- 31:00Speaker 9: That's what people are going to realize when they actually
- 31:02Speaker 9: see him.
- 31:02Speaker 4: He's not a great passer. He's not He's not a
- 31:05Speaker 4: great passer. He's got a lot of work to do
- 31:07Speaker 4: as a passer.
- 31:08Speaker 9: But what makes you say that?
- 31:09Speaker 4: Because he can from watching them watching him against good defenses.
- 31:12Speaker 9: He Strugglesxas he played Texas A and M, a defense
- 31:16Speaker 9: that hadn't given up a touchdown in twenty five straight drive.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Watch the Florida State game, both of them acually.
- 31:22Speaker 9: Put up over three hundred and fifty yards and free
- 31:24Speaker 9: touchdown against Alabama three hundred fifty yards and three touchdown
- 31:27Speaker 9: this season.
- 31:30Speaker 4: He's not a great passer. He's a great runner. I
- 31:32Speaker 4: agree with you on that, but he's nowhere near Caleb
- 31:34Speaker 4: Williams as a passer, not even close.
- 31:37Speaker 9: But you've got to look at the offense.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Yeah, he's got better weapons, which I.
- 31:42Speaker 9: Agree with you because like Malik Agbors is also going
- 31:44Speaker 9: to be a top ten pick in the draft. But
- 31:46Speaker 9: I don't think you can discount what he actually did.
- 31:49Speaker 9: I mean, he was the runaway heisman. He had forty
- 31:52Speaker 9: passing touchdowns this season. That's more than Caleb Williams by
- 31:55Speaker 9: a lot. He had over forty eight hundred yards.
- 31:58Speaker 4: You know, and no one had better stats than Bailey's appy,
- 32:02Speaker 4: Like the stats don't like just what just watching you
- 32:07Speaker 4: you can't possibly compare Jalen Daniels as a passer to
- 32:11Speaker 4: Caleb Williams, Like they're not even close.
- 32:14Speaker 9: But he did it, Okay, Look in twenty nineteen, he
- 32:18Speaker 9: was That was the same offense that Ni kil Harry
- 32:20Speaker 9: was in in twenty eighteen at Arizona State. That offense
- 32:23Speaker 9: was broken, right, They were not an explosive offense. They
- 32:27Speaker 9: were coming off of HERM Edwards as a coach, who you.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Know, I'm just going off of last year. I'm not
- 32:31Speaker 4: going I'm not gonna like but you have to look.
- 32:34Speaker 4: But I'm not going to hold against him what he
- 32:35Speaker 4: did when he was eighteen years old six years ago.
- 32:38Speaker 4: I'm just talking about the last two years.
- 32:41Speaker 9: But does that not matter to you that as a
- 32:42Speaker 9: true freshman in the.
- 32:44Speaker 4: ES season, that he struggled a little bit in the.
- 32:46Speaker 9: Pac twelve, which is a difficult you.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Know, it's not really, it's not a it's I mean,
- 32:51Speaker 4: this this past year it was. It was pretty good,
- 32:53Speaker 4: but traditionally it hasn't been all that good.
- 32:56Speaker 15: But for an.
- 32:56Speaker 9: Eighteen year old true freshman.
- 32:59Speaker 4: He struggled. And I get it, like he was just
- 33:01Speaker 4: a kid that I get it. I can't. I can't.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Obviously he's related to Jalen Daniels in some way. I mean,
- 33:11Speaker 4: and fifty. Do you ever watch college games and see
- 33:14Speaker 4: anybody with a bad quarterback rating?
- 33:17Speaker 9: Absolutely? And fifty is exceptional, especially as a true freshman.
- 33:22Speaker 4: Okay, all the other all the other people that watch
- 33:25Speaker 4: these games are wrong. Author is the only one that
- 33:28Speaker 4: sees the true greatness in the passing. He's got a
- 33:31Speaker 4: lot of work to do as a passer. He looks
- 33:33Speaker 4: to run. He's in everything he said about Okay, Daniels
- 33:36Speaker 4: as a runner, I agree.
- 33:37Speaker 1: With I don't know answer.
- 33:38Speaker 4: He looks to run first. But let me ask you,
- 33:40Speaker 4: and that is something that is hard to do in
- 33:42Speaker 4: the NFL.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Is he a better passer now than Lamar Jackson was
- 33:47Speaker 1: when he was going?
- 33:49Speaker 4: Very similar?
- 33:50Speaker 1: Very similar?
- 33:51Speaker 4: And by the way, as long as we're just gonna
- 33:54Speaker 4: go by stats, why don't you look at Lamar Lamar
- 33:57Speaker 4: Jackson's stats his junior year when he won the Heisman Trophy.
- 34:01Speaker 4: He just said this guy, he just said he can't
- 34:02Speaker 4: he couldn't throw. Well, absolutely absolutely. Stats were there, So
- 34:06Speaker 4: don't tell me about one hundred and fifty passer rating
- 34:08Speaker 4: in the in the forty touchdowns, like.
- 34:11Speaker 9: But look, what was the knock on Lamar Jackson coming
- 34:13Speaker 9: into the league.
- 34:14Speaker 4: He was a little right, he was no, he needed
- 34:16Speaker 4: to develop as a passer, but that's.
- 34:19Speaker 9: What he did. But it was also his frame. That's
- 34:21Speaker 9: the biggest knock on Jaden's right now. Was his frame.
- 34:23Speaker 1: No, the biggest knock on The biggest knock on Lamar
- 34:26Speaker 1: Jackson was if you bring him in, you're gonna have
- 34:28Speaker 1: to redo your offense to tailor to his game.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Because he wasn't a an accomplished passer, and I think,
- 34:36Speaker 4: to be honest with you, I think he's great, but
- 34:38Speaker 4: I think there's still questions about that.
- 34:41Speaker 9: Yeah, okay, but is forty touchdowns to foeig interceptions not
- 34:44Speaker 9: impressive as a pastor?
- 34:45Speaker 4: Have you like it's not? It doesn't at the college level.
- 34:48Speaker 4: It does absolutely nothing for me. Nothing.
- 34:51Speaker 9: But he wasn't bon Nicks through completed seventy I think.
- 34:54Speaker 4: Bon Nick stinks, Like That's what I'm telling you.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I don't.
- 34:57Speaker 4: I don't think Boone Nicks is a very accurate passer,
- 35:00Speaker 4: and his completion percentage was through the roof.
- 35:03Speaker 9: But Jayden Datis was throwing it down the field and
- 35:05Speaker 9: completing as past as.
- 35:06Speaker 4: That's two wide open players like Matt Jones threw it
- 35:09Speaker 4: all over the place too. I don't think he can
- 35:12Speaker 4: hit the broadside of a barn.
- 35:13Speaker 9: He made tight window throws. To say in a vacuum
- 35:17Speaker 9: that everyone was wide open because he had good weapons
- 35:20Speaker 9: around him is false.
- 35:21Speaker 4: I just don't think he's a great pastor. We can
- 35:23Speaker 4: agree to disagree with Arthur, like, I don't need a
- 35:25Speaker 4: stat to tell him he's a great You need.
- 35:28Speaker 1: To stay in touch here, I mean we need, we
- 35:30Speaker 1: need you to end point. We need you to be
- 35:32Speaker 1: a regular cont just just thank you before author goes.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Of course you dump them. I like Jayden Daniels, I
- 35:38Speaker 4: just don't like them like that.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Well, he has.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Worked to do it.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Somebody's going to be right here, he has worked. No,
- 35:44Speaker 1: somebody's going to be right.
- 35:46Speaker 4: My guess is neither one of us is going to
- 35:47Speaker 4: be right.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Okay, all right, well we'll see.
- 35:50Speaker 4: You know, because if you just go by like seventy
- 35:53Speaker 4: percent completion percentage, that doesn't tell me anything. But and
- 35:58Speaker 4: that's what he was doing. He was giving me that
- 36:00Speaker 4: twenty touchdowns, but seventy percent. I don't care. He's not
- 36:04Speaker 4: in the car. He's not a gifted pocket passer. He's
- 36:07Speaker 4: a great gifted runner.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Okay, but I think like I like it. Arthur brought
- 36:13Speaker 1: it first call, right out of the choot bang. I
- 36:16Speaker 1: love it to bring it.
- 36:17Speaker 4: I wish I thought.
- 36:20Speaker 1: And it's not like he's from New York. He wasn't
- 36:23Speaker 1: even from you know, Louisiana.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Would I mean if I was his passionate about Jade
- 36:26Speaker 5: Daniel as he is, I would be like riding high
- 36:28Speaker 5: right now because I'm like, we got him, Like, let's
- 36:30Speaker 5: go we're gonna get him.
- 36:31Speaker 4: We're gonna get it, and I will not be pissed
- 36:33Speaker 4: off if they draft Jayden Daniels. I'm just a little
- 36:36Speaker 4: wishy washing on him. I don't think I think he
- 36:38Speaker 4: can go either way, but if they decide that, they
- 36:40Speaker 4: think he's worth the investment, like I think, I look
- 36:45Speaker 4: back at Lamar Jackson with a lot of regret from
- 36:47Speaker 4: the Patriots' perspective. Now it's a little different at the
- 36:50Speaker 4: end of the first round. It is the top of
- 36:52Speaker 4: the first round. But I think that that was a
- 36:54Speaker 4: lost opportunity. I think that would have been the perfect
- 36:57Speaker 4: kind of guy who's not going to be ready in
- 36:59Speaker 4: clamoring for playing time as you go through the twilight
- 37:02Speaker 4: of Brady's career. I think that Josh mcdeniells was interested
- 37:05Speaker 4: in it, and I don't think they pulled the trigger
- 37:08Speaker 4: for whatever reason, and I think that was a mistake.
- 37:10Speaker 4: So if they end up getting Jayden Daniels and Arthur
- 37:12Speaker 4: ends up being right, I think we'll all be happy.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Because Josh says, you know, I really like this Lamar
- 37:17Speaker 1: Jackson in the room says, and you like Tim Tebow.
- 37:21Speaker 4: So I think you'll pass Fred. I think you might
- 37:23Speaker 4: be right. I think you might be right. Go sit
- 37:28Speaker 4: in the back. But listen if Arthur ends up being right,
- 37:31Speaker 4: and he comes in and he's you know, he's more CJ.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Stroud as a passer than Lamar Jackson was. That's great.
- 37:40Speaker 4: And he's the Patriots guy, and you got your guy,
- 37:42Speaker 4: got our guy.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I liked his first line, he says, Paul said, I'm
- 37:46Speaker 1: wishing washed. He says, I'm wishing.
- 37:47Speaker 4: I wish I did like that line.
- 37:49Speaker 1: That was a good line. Line He's called other shows before,
- 37:52Speaker 1: he's practiced this. Oh, but I love it. Eldred's in
- 37:55Speaker 1: New York. What's up, Eldrick? What are you doing in
- 37:57Speaker 1: New York?
- 37:59Speaker 4: The track supposed to be in New York?
- 38:01Speaker 1: I mean shot.
- 38:04Speaker 4: Eldress on the run.
- 38:05Speaker 16: Alice took the merrill and the fellows. How y'all doing good? Hey, Hey,
- 38:11Speaker 16: I love that passion. But bro, I'm gonna disagree with you.
- 38:15Speaker 16: He wasn't the runaway Heisman because like all the understaid,
- 38:19Speaker 16: he should have went with to with Pennick. He should
- 38:21Speaker 16: have got it, but they gave it to him. And
- 38:23Speaker 16: another thing they do have U picking Daniels in three
- 38:29Speaker 16: number four, h Marvin Harrisons going to Arizona. But me,
- 38:33Speaker 16: if I had my wish, I'm getting there. I'm getting
- 38:35Speaker 16: Marvin Harrison at three and on the stuck round on
- 38:38Speaker 16: getting Michael Pennick. He's a better passing. He can't run
- 38:41Speaker 16: like like y'all said, you don't run like Josh Daniel
- 38:43Speaker 16: or excuse me, Josh Allen or Jay and Daniels. But
- 38:46Speaker 16: he can't move, and he's more active the past.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Like vand Wagon for a while, I'm.
- 38:52Speaker 16: Gonna I'm gonna keep being on it. You know what
- 38:54Speaker 16: I told you all about Strout last year? What you say,
- 38:57Speaker 16: Mike so Elder, just like starting all over again?
- 38:59Speaker 4: What year? But but Eldred, hold on a second. I
- 39:05Speaker 4: mean telling us about Stroud last year. It was useless,
- 39:08Speaker 4: like he went with the third pick of the second
- 39:10Speaker 4: pick of the draft or whatever he went, but it
- 39:12Speaker 4: was he number two or three.
- 39:13Speaker 16: I would have traded, man said, I would have traded
- 39:15Speaker 16: Max tried to shoot.
- 39:17Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's not gonna do it. I mean, I
- 39:20Speaker 4: can trade all my bad players to try to get
- 39:22Speaker 4: the good ones too, but no one's really gonna do
- 39:24Speaker 4: that for you. Well, may by trading Mac Jones, wasn't
- 39:28Speaker 4: getting you c J. Stroud last year.
- 39:30Speaker 16: Fifteen, I want to trade up to get what I
- 39:34Speaker 16: would have did go.
- 39:36Speaker 1: It would have done whatever it took, all right, Like I.
- 39:40Speaker 16: Said, I watched it for two years, like I'm watching
- 39:42Speaker 16: Pin three.
- 39:43Speaker 4: Like you you can you can tell me like in
- 39:46Speaker 4: twenty one, I like Justin Fields better than mac Jones,
- 39:48Speaker 4: and I would have traded up from fifteen to get
- 39:51Speaker 4: to get to get Justin Fields. That that's that's realistic.
- 39:56Speaker 4: The Patriots didn't realistically have a chance to trade up
- 39:59Speaker 4: and get CJ. Stroud last year with with mac Jones.
- 40:03Speaker 1: So Arthur's for Daniels Aldrich for Pennick.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Pennick struggling a little bit. Although I don't care. I
- 40:12Speaker 4: don't care what happens the super Bowl.
- 40:14Speaker 16: He did the first day, but but but the last
- 40:17Speaker 16: couple of days the Interval network and he's showing it. No,
- 40:19Speaker 16: he's not Okay, he did the first day, but he
- 40:23Speaker 16: but the one he's better than rest up.
- 40:26Speaker 4: The only one I heard that was really bad was
- 40:28Speaker 4: next which I'm not surprised that because I don't think
- 40:31Speaker 4: he's very good.
- 40:31Speaker 16: Yeah, but but but it's stopped going up a little
- 40:35Speaker 16: bit and he's improved doing.
- 40:37Speaker 17: Better, and I like what they like.
- 40:39Speaker 16: You said he can throw short, he came through a medium.
- 40:41Speaker 16: He look, damn dude, yesterday doing it? They all right,
- 40:45Speaker 16: I don't know.
- 40:45Speaker 1: All right, Aldritch is on board for Pennis. We got
- 40:48Speaker 1: just don't get any rush on Arthur for Daniels. Next
- 40:52Speaker 1: up is Tony in Michigan. What's up Tony?
- 40:56Speaker 18: Hey, lady and gentlemen, how are we doing?
- 41:01Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 41:01Speaker 18: I guess quarterback wise, I'm I'm putting my vote in
- 41:04Speaker 18: for Drake.
- 41:05Speaker 1: May Drake May Drake may caller.
- 41:08Speaker 18: All right, Yeah, I kind of think that Daniels love
- 41:11Speaker 18: is more people talking themselves into it because we won't
- 41:15Speaker 18: be able to get Williams.
- 41:16Speaker 15: Or May Sure. I kind of agree with you, and
- 41:20Speaker 15: you know, I.
- 41:20Speaker 18: Mean, Daniels is a talented runner. He's definitely the best
- 41:23Speaker 18: runner of you know, of the three. I think he's
- 41:25Speaker 18: smaller than Lamar when Lamar was coming out, and I
- 41:28Speaker 18: just don't love, you know, he screams one hit. Wonder
- 41:30Speaker 18: to me who produced when he had great talent?
- 41:34Speaker 1: But anyway, so what do you like about may Well
- 41:36Speaker 1: the draft?
- 41:37Speaker 4: I'm going to be a little defensive of Daniels and
- 41:38Speaker 4: take Arthur's argument he wasn't a stiff at Arizona State.
- 41:42Speaker 4: He was pretty good there. You know, he wasn't a
- 41:45Speaker 4: one hit wonder. Now he went to the Heisman Trophy
- 41:47Speaker 4: candidate in the SEC, playing against the you know, the
- 41:50Speaker 4: best of the best. But he wasn't terrible his first
- 41:53Speaker 4: year at Arizona State.
- 41:56Speaker 18: No, I mean, he was pretty terrible, but it's not
- 41:58Speaker 18: he was not really, It's not like, oh, watch this guy.
- 42:01Speaker 18: You know, this isn't a guy to put on the
- 42:02Speaker 18: radar and like he's going to be amazing, you know
- 42:06Speaker 18: as a prospect of seems like a guy that climbed.
- 42:09Speaker 4: Yeah, he definitely climbed this year. He put himself in
- 42:12Speaker 4: a different level.
- 42:13Speaker 19: Absolutely, Yeah, But I was so I guess going to
- 42:17Speaker 19: the draft, the way that I see this team, the
- 42:22Speaker 19: offense is completely barren and the defense is old.
- 42:26Speaker 18: To me, this is a time where we should be
- 42:30Speaker 18: looking at trading away guys like Jude and John Jones,
- 42:34Speaker 18: you know, getting what draft capital we can for some
- 42:38Speaker 18: of these aging guys on defense and really focusing on
- 42:42Speaker 18: building both sides of the ball through the draft. I
- 42:45Speaker 18: know people don't like that because it's kind of committing
- 42:48Speaker 18: to you know, allow people see the defense as elite
- 42:52Speaker 18: still and that if we can get a mediocre offense
- 42:55Speaker 18: will be complete competing for the playoffs. I just don't
- 42:58Speaker 18: feel the same.
- 42:59Speaker 1: I love that.
- 43:00Speaker 18: I think by the time the offense is ready to compete,
- 43:02Speaker 18: the defense is going to be you know, a bunch
- 43:04Speaker 18: of Judon's coming off a season ending injury. You know,
- 43:06Speaker 18: Barmore and Gonzalez is the only young building blocks we
- 43:09Speaker 18: have right now.
- 43:10Speaker 4: I love that idea of Judon. I think Judon could
- 43:14Speaker 4: fetch you something. Yeah, did you get your second round?
- 43:17Speaker 13: Oh?
- 43:17Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it's more ammunition to reload.
- 43:23Speaker 4: And I kind of like that.
- 43:24Speaker 18: If there, I wouldn't and I wouldn't be opposed to
- 43:28Speaker 18: trading away Judon and trying to extend Uja to keep
- 43:32Speaker 18: a young pass rusher around. I know, you know, he
- 43:34Speaker 18: hasn't really been up to the level of what you know,
- 43:38Speaker 18: a young pass rusher will probably get on the free
- 43:40Speaker 18: agent market.
- 43:41Speaker 4: I'm less interested in.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Yeah, the problem with is he's so specialized.
- 43:45Speaker 4: He just.
- 43:48Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean, I don't I don't love him, but
- 43:51Speaker 18: I think just you know, to keep some sort of
- 43:54Speaker 18: semblance of a pass rush. You know, if they did
- 43:56Speaker 18: move on from judon it'd be an idea to kick around.
- 43:59Speaker 18: I just I guess, I guess I'm just wondering, you know,
- 44:01Speaker 18: and then I can hang up. You know, if you
- 44:03Speaker 18: guys feel similarly that the timelines aren't lining up, the
- 44:08Speaker 18: defense is going to be you know, aging and kind
- 44:10Speaker 18: of declining by the time the offense is there, and
- 44:13Speaker 18: you know, should be kind of look at rebuilding the
- 44:15Speaker 18: whole thing right now.
- 44:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think that all right. I think Tony.
- 44:22Speaker 4: I think Tony makes good points. I don't really care
- 44:25Speaker 4: about the time the timetable lining up as much as
- 44:27Speaker 4: Tony does.
- 44:29Speaker 1: But if you could.
- 44:30Speaker 4: Tell me that the offense is going to get fixed,
- 44:35Speaker 4: you can be fine on defense. Yeah, Like, they're not
- 44:38Speaker 4: a lot of really good offenses that aren't threats because
- 44:41Speaker 4: the defense stinks. Like generally, if you have a really
- 44:44Speaker 4: good offense, you're a contender. And I think the Lions
- 44:47Speaker 4: defense stinks as as a comparison, and then he absolutely
- 44:50Speaker 4: should be playing a week from Sunday. But the timetable
- 44:56Speaker 4: part of it, I want to make the move that
- 45:01Speaker 4: I'm interested in, the move that he wanted to make,
- 45:03Speaker 4: because I think that that could quicken the timetable Yeah,
- 45:06Speaker 4: Like I think if you could get like a you know,
- 45:09Speaker 4: draft capital for for those two guys that he mentioned,
- 45:11Speaker 4: Judon and Jones. I don't know. I don't think Jonathan
- 45:14Speaker 4: Jones is getting you anything, but Judon could for a
- 45:17Speaker 4: team that that's a premiere position and he's you know,
- 45:20Speaker 4: he's a proven standout pass rusher for someone like like
- 45:25Speaker 4: Bradley Chubb when he went to the Dolphins. You know
- 45:29Speaker 4: someone might do that. Yeah, someone might give you a
- 45:31Speaker 4: second round.
- 45:32Speaker 5: Pame season one.
- 45:33Speaker 4: I mean is that we think with Yeah, I mean
- 45:35Speaker 4: it could happen. I just that to me, that's the timetable.
- 45:38Speaker 4: I'm interested. How do I quicken the pace of adding
- 45:42Speaker 4: all the things that I need to add on offense? Well,
- 45:44Speaker 4: I think it's worth adding.
- 45:45Speaker 5: I mean perspective, Wise guy, I mean, we don't know
- 45:47Speaker 5: what's gonna happen this year, but this group guy gotscha.
- 45:50Speaker 4: Barmore and Wise are.
- 45:51Speaker 5: All free agents next year.
- 45:53Speaker 4: So you know, Tony's right about the age. Barbore and
- 45:56Speaker 4: Zas are the only two young guys on defense. So
- 45:58Speaker 4: I mean, I like the sound of that. Barmore. You know,
- 46:01Speaker 4: resource to.
- 46:02Speaker 1: The defensive line is pretty old except for Barmore, but.
- 46:05Speaker 4: Other than I mean jude On Bentley Jones.
- 46:08Speaker 1: I said, well, Judea, but like, how old is Jonathan Jones?
- 46:12Speaker 4: Thirty?
- 46:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't think he was that old.
- 46:15Speaker 4: I know, because everybody thinks the only reason why they
- 46:17Speaker 4: were average age on their roster was because Matthew Slater's
- 46:20Speaker 4: been around a long time, but they had an old team.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Yeah, which I mean, but you know, is still on
- 46:26Speaker 1: his first contract, but he's a free he's gone.
- 46:28Speaker 4: I know he's gone, but he's not that old. No, no, no, no.
- 46:31Speaker 4: If they're if they're all back, then that's different. But
- 46:34Speaker 4: I'm assuming that he's gone, is gone. Like those are
- 46:38Speaker 4: the young guys on defense. You know, you could lose Jennings,
- 46:42Speaker 4: j Duggar, Barmore and then and then then you have
- 46:47Speaker 4: basically just Gonzales left as a young guy, you know,
- 46:51Speaker 4: head heading into the twenty five. They should be right
- 46:54Speaker 4: getting him because all those guys are up now right
- 46:57Speaker 4: now except for Barmore will be up next year.
- 46:59Speaker 1: I'm telling you now.
- 47:00Speaker 5: That's I mean no disrespect to Ouch or Douggar or
- 47:03Speaker 5: a mind you, but Barmore would be my priority right now.
- 47:06Speaker 5: And I think you know to all what we're talking about.
- 47:08Speaker 1: You can't let him go.
- 47:09Speaker 4: A long term impact defensive lineman. You know, it's I
- 47:12Speaker 4: would agree. I would agree Barbara has a chance to
- 47:16Speaker 4: be special.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Eric's in New Jersey. What's up, Eric?
- 47:20Speaker 20: Hey, how are we doing today?
- 47:21Speaker 1: Good?
- 47:23Speaker 20: Like I said, I totally piggyback off of Tony again.
- 47:27Speaker 20: I'm with him, stride by stride. I thought you should
- 47:29Speaker 20: have been able to trade John Jones last year at
- 47:31Speaker 20: the trade deadline. But you know, considering most teams need
- 47:34Speaker 20: a lot of secondary help. I mean, he's gonna be
- 47:36Speaker 20: thirty two coming at the end of this next season.
- 47:38Speaker 20: I mean, people look at that Texans model and they
- 47:41Speaker 20: try to see that we can replicate that, but we
- 47:43Speaker 20: don't have the foundational pieces that There's no Punsole, there's
- 47:46Speaker 20: no Mason here, there's no Nico Collins here. You know,
- 47:49Speaker 20: some of those places, you know on the offensive side
- 47:52Speaker 20: is just not there. And when you look at this,
- 47:55Speaker 20: when you when you look at the roster and totality,
- 47:57Speaker 20: there's no way that you can sit here and say,
- 47:59Speaker 20: you know, give the free agent class. You know, maybe
- 48:03Speaker 20: if you hit it out and park out the draft,
- 48:04Speaker 20: but you know, maybe realistically you get two three guys
- 48:07Speaker 20: you know on average, but you know, how quick can
- 48:10Speaker 20: you really you know, in the state of this roster
- 48:12Speaker 20: where you have most of your defensive turnover. Like again,
- 48:14Speaker 20: D's just mentioned a lot of these guys as free
- 48:16Speaker 20: agents next year. You know, there's no talent, you know
- 48:19Speaker 20: backing these guys up. There's no talent, especially.
- 48:21Speaker 15: On the offensive side.
- 48:23Speaker 20: I mean, so, like, what is like the realistic like
- 48:25Speaker 20: expectations that we can sit here and say, because I
- 48:29Speaker 20: think I don't want us to fall into that trap
- 48:30Speaker 20: of twenty twenty one where the free agent class to say,
- 48:33Speaker 20: if Pittman, Higgins are all locked up, you're picking third
- 48:37Speaker 20: tier guys. Evans is locked up, you know, Curtis Damuel
- 48:41Speaker 20: Markith Brown. I mean, is that who using our you know,
- 48:44Speaker 20: change lights? And again the draft, I mean, yeah, there's
- 48:47Speaker 20: a lot of good wide receivers, but game breakers like
- 48:49Speaker 20: your Neighbors and goons A Harrison. I mean, I think
- 48:52Speaker 20: it's that class. And then there's you know, maybe Keon
- 48:54Speaker 20: Coleman and die Miss and then there's just good wide
- 48:56Speaker 20: receivers like your kens Are Bourne type. So I mean
- 48:59Speaker 20: it's just realistic. I just don't know, how can you
- 49:03Speaker 20: the expectation. How can you, like, what is the vision
- 49:05Speaker 20: that you got to see individually? And I'll take it
- 49:07Speaker 20: off the line. Thanks God, all.
- 49:08Speaker 5: Right, thanks, that's a great question. I mean that's what
- 49:11Speaker 5: I'm you know, scrambling to try to figure out how
- 49:13Speaker 5: you can rebuild all these pieces. And then meanwhile, like
- 49:15Speaker 5: I just said, you're staring at next year, the defense
- 49:18Speaker 5: is gonna they're gonna all turn over and along the line,
- 49:20Speaker 5: which I mean, I think is you know, critical. I
- 49:23Speaker 5: mean that's you know, say what you will about last
- 49:25Speaker 5: season's Patriots team, but they at least were able to
- 49:27Speaker 5: kind of win the line of scrimmage and do pretty
- 49:29Speaker 5: well against the run.
- 49:30Speaker 1: It's just not gonna happen overnight, no, you know.
- 49:33Speaker 5: I mean, I just I think that there's a there's
- 49:35Speaker 5: no tackles in the league. You know, it's just it's
- 49:37Speaker 5: so hard to find tackles. So I just I think,
- 49:39Speaker 5: and it should have been a priority last year. They
- 49:41Speaker 5: have to figure out a way to get a stud
- 49:42Speaker 5: tackle this year one way or another like that. That
- 49:44Speaker 5: to me, like quarterback, you can take a swing on it,
- 49:47Speaker 5: and I you know, I just continue to think with receivers,
- 49:49Speaker 5: there's so many good receivers, you know, and it's like
- 49:51Speaker 5: Marvin Harrison, they simply.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I don't know the name, but if they had simply
- 49:55Speaker 1: replaced cold Strange with a tackle, they might be in
- 49:58Speaker 1: a better position right now, very possibly name good tackle
- 50:02Speaker 1: out of that draft.
- 50:03Speaker 4: So there's a lot of different things that you could
- 50:04Speaker 4: do with that with names. So instead of Cold Strange,
- 50:07Speaker 4: you take Trent McDuffie or no, but I know he's not.
- 50:11Speaker 4: I'm not done. Then instead of taking Christian Gonzales, you
- 50:15Speaker 4: have an all pro cornerback already in Trent McDuffie. So
- 50:18Speaker 4: now I can take a tackle, just com on it,
- 50:21Speaker 4: you know, and maybe you know, and I don't know
- 50:23Speaker 4: how good. What's the the guy that we swindled the
- 50:28Speaker 4: Jets out of Dwan Jones? Which one is that the
- 50:32Speaker 4: fourth round pick? Which one is the guy that Pittsburgh
- 50:34Speaker 4: Tooks couldn't take Broderick Jones? You know, maybe you'd take
- 50:37Speaker 4: Broderick Jones and you're not looking here, you know, walking
- 50:40Speaker 4: around with a tin cup in your hand looking for
- 50:42Speaker 4: a tackle, right like that. That's the kind of those
- 50:45Speaker 4: are the sort of change actions. So that's where I
- 50:48Speaker 4: sat drafting kills you. That's where I say to Eric,
- 50:52Speaker 4: That's what I say to him, is like, you know,
- 50:53Speaker 4: I don't know where this is going to come from.
- 50:56Speaker 4: It's going to come from just being smart going forward
- 50:58Speaker 4: and not making mistakes. The bottom line is now, regardless
- 51:01Speaker 4: of who they take and where, they need to stack
- 51:05Speaker 4: some draft classes together of quality players.
- 51:07Speaker 1: And if you do that, you start, you know, like
- 51:11Speaker 1: the Jets.
- 51:12Speaker 4: You can do it in two years the Jets. The
- 51:14Speaker 4: Jets did it right.
- 51:15Speaker 1: The Jets are close. They just need a quarterback right
- 51:18Speaker 1: now and maybe some O line hope help.
- 51:21Speaker 4: But that's not that hard, you know, and if they
- 51:24Speaker 4: had a good quarterback, their O line would look a
- 51:26Speaker 4: lot better. Like they have two good like they did
- 51:28Speaker 4: invest in their offensive line. They all they just always
- 51:30Speaker 4: get hurt. Yeah, Beckton has been a disappointment, but verit.
- 51:34Speaker 4: Tucker's really good. He's just never healthy.
- 51:36Speaker 1: So I mean, it can be done. It's like, obviously
- 51:40Speaker 1: there's hope. You just have to you have to hit,
- 51:42Speaker 1: you have to be smart.
- 51:43Speaker 4: And you can be You can get by with average
- 51:48Speaker 4: offensive line play if you're good. Like the problem with
- 51:51Speaker 4: the Jets is obvious. They just don't have a quarterback
- 51:54Speaker 4: that they can rely on.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Todd's in North Carolina. Heye Todd.
- 51:58Speaker 4: By the way, they're mex.
- 52:00Speaker 12: And have a trouble with the phone. I don't know
- 52:01Speaker 12: if it's on your end or mind, but it's end.
- 52:05Speaker 15: Probably.
- 52:06Speaker 12: So here's what my thought process is. I don't think
- 52:09Speaker 12: we should get a quarterback this year because we're probably
- 52:11Speaker 12: going to get a young, new type OC, and I
- 52:15Speaker 12: would like to get somebody veteran, just as a place older,
- 52:18Speaker 12: come in and let that OC get a year under
- 52:20Speaker 12: his belt and then develop the offense because right now
- 52:23Speaker 12: there's only one star on the offense, one guy that
- 52:25Speaker 12: I consider to be you know, star worthy, and he
- 52:28Speaker 12: start slot back, I think that's it. I don't pop
- 52:32Speaker 12: our running back, like give me a star, give me
- 52:36Speaker 12: a new one, and everything else, like our online is garbage,
- 52:39Speaker 12: our receivers garbage. We need to start new. So I
- 52:44Speaker 12: think we need to get because we're most likely going
- 52:47Speaker 12: to get a young OC. I can't see us getting anybody.
- 52:49Speaker 12: I can't see Daniels coming back. Please no, So let's
- 52:52Speaker 12: get the OC one year with a golder quarterback that's
- 52:55Speaker 12: just going to sit in there and hang out for
- 52:58Speaker 12: a year and build the offense. And then when we
- 53:00Speaker 12: can go in the next year's draft and we'll have it,
- 53:03Speaker 12: hopefully a bit of an old line, maybe a receiver
- 53:05Speaker 12: or two, and you know, we can get that quarterback
- 53:08Speaker 12: then and give him something.
- 53:09Speaker 1: So you're saying, don't draft a quarterback this year, get
- 53:12Speaker 1: a bridge guy and wait.
- 53:13Speaker 4: But why not do both?
- 53:14Speaker 21: Exactly?
- 53:15Speaker 4: Why not get a bridge guy and draft a quarterback
- 53:18Speaker 4: and let him let him learn?
- 53:20Speaker 12: Can you can you afford that? Can you actually get
- 53:22Speaker 12: both into Like?
- 53:25Speaker 1: Sure, why not?
- 53:27Speaker 12: Because we need I don't want a young guy going
- 53:29Speaker 12: in there when this line is rebuilding and a new Like, no.
- 53:32Speaker 1: You're not gonna play him, He's gonna sit, He's gonna watch.
- 53:35Speaker 4: I mean you can if you don't want to play him,
- 53:37Speaker 4: you have that, you know, signed to Kobe Brissett and
- 53:40Speaker 4: draft Jad and Daniels be free. He's a free agent.
- 53:44Speaker 1: He's always free. Now he's a mercenary.
- 53:48Speaker 4: Now I'm just saying, like, thanks, Todd, I'm just off
- 53:51Speaker 4: the top of my head.
- 53:52Speaker 5: I just threw out a veteran a way to kind
- 53:54Speaker 5: of do it.
- 53:55Speaker 1: You know. Yeah, let's go to Kobe in Louisiana. What's up, Kobe, Kobe?
- 54:04Speaker 1: Kobe Kobe, And are you have you muted yourself? No, okay,
- 54:11Speaker 1: call back goodbye Kobe Melvin, but not the Melvin. It's
- 54:16Speaker 1: different Melvin in Indiana.
- 54:20Speaker 13: Town.
- 54:22Speaker 4: Yes, different.
- 54:24Speaker 13: Alrighty. So just one quick thing there. I really don't
- 54:27Speaker 13: see us, you know, winning the Super Bowl next year.
- 54:30Speaker 13: To the draft, I think we need to pick a position,
- 54:33Speaker 13: an important position, and start there. And I just say,
- 54:36Speaker 13: Marvin Harrison Juniors. I can't miss how we get that right.
- 54:40Speaker 13: It helps out the other guys on the elephant. I
- 54:42Speaker 13: know the line these work quarterback plays needs to be better.
- 54:46Speaker 13: I get all of it. But maybe Appendix is there
- 54:48Speaker 13: in the second round, or a Joe Milton is there
- 54:50Speaker 13: in the third or fourth round, and we can get
- 54:52Speaker 13: somebody like that there's more of a project and give
- 54:54Speaker 13: them a whipping like Marvin Harrison Junior to work with,
- 54:58Speaker 13: as well as Pop Douglas, as well as me be
- 55:00Speaker 13: signing a few other guys from the free agencies. We
- 55:03Speaker 13: need a lot of pieces. I just think we need
- 55:05Speaker 13: to pick something and get the best player at that position.
- 55:10Speaker 13: And to me, Marvin Harrison is the best player in
- 55:12Speaker 13: the draft regardless.
- 55:14Speaker 1: A lot of people agree with you.
- 55:15Speaker 10: Yeah, thanks, I like that point because I mean whenever
- 55:20Speaker 10: people are talking about the quarterbacks available, no one has
- 55:22Speaker 10: a consensus.
- 55:23Speaker 11: Everyone argues with each other.
- 55:25Speaker 10: I'm not sold on an acc quarterback certainly, And I
- 55:28Speaker 10: don't know if Marvin Harrison is the under is the
- 55:31Speaker 10: decided best player, generational talent. And we're talking about building
- 55:36Speaker 10: this team through the draft, bringing a guy like Harrison
- 55:38Speaker 10: address the offensive line, and then bring in a bridge
- 55:41Speaker 10: guy like we're talking about Jacoby Brissett, Kyler Murray, Baker
- 55:44Speaker 10: like whoever it is, and just get us into a
- 55:47Speaker 10: place where whatever the product is on the offense is
- 55:50Speaker 10: at least respectable and just go from there.
- 55:52Speaker 1: And I sounds good to me. The only thing about
- 55:56Speaker 1: is some of the names you name, like Kyler Murray,
- 55:59Speaker 1: they're gonna like forty for sure.
- 56:02Speaker 11: For sure?
- 56:03Speaker 1: Are you willing to him?
- 56:04Speaker 3: No, like you know I would.
- 56:07Speaker 11: I'm not sold on it. I don't think he's gonna
- 56:09Speaker 11: take us to the Promised Land.
- 56:10Speaker 10: But I think it's better than taking a chance with this,
- 56:13Speaker 10: like this gift of a draft, right and you're taking
- 56:16Speaker 10: a chance on quarterbacks.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Garrett Wilson is the poster child for this thing where
- 56:22Speaker 1: you get the great quarter uh wide receiver and he's
- 56:26Speaker 1: just kind of wasted. But if Aaron Rodgers is, you know,
- 56:31Speaker 1: near to form, Garret Wilson's going to get his numbers
- 56:34Speaker 1: this year.
- 56:35Speaker 4: He's going to get his numbers. But you're gonna win games. Yes,
- 56:38Speaker 4: And this is the no I'm talking about before this
- 56:41Speaker 4: like it was a great draft pick. Yeah, they but
- 56:45Speaker 4: they had a quarterback and then they decided to draft
- 56:48Speaker 4: the wide receiver after they had the quarterback to give
- 56:51Speaker 4: the quarterback a weapon.
- 56:52Speaker 1: But it worked.
- 56:53Speaker 4: But that's a great play.
- 56:54Speaker 1: But I'm just saying that if Rogers comes back, now
- 56:58Speaker 1: you don't have to worry about the wide receiver position.
- 57:00Speaker 4: But you just said you don't think that the Patriots
- 57:02Speaker 4: would pay forty million dollars for that quarterback. No, I'm
- 57:04Speaker 4: just saying, so then you don't have that option.
- 57:06Speaker 1: I'm just saying. Everybody says you can't draft a great
- 57:08Speaker 1: quarterback before you have the receiver. I I I'm with Alex.
- 57:12Speaker 1: If you think this guy generation the other way them
- 57:15Speaker 1: take them.
- 57:15Speaker 10: Even if you can't do anything, you have a really
- 57:18Speaker 10: talented player to leverage into.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Right, Marvin Harrison isn't going to be in next year's draft.
- 57:23Speaker 4: He's in this draft, probably will be I'm just telling
- 57:27Speaker 4: you he probably will.
- 57:29Speaker 3: Will we be picking third? I hope not.
- 57:32Speaker 4: You probably will be sitting for another season like this.
- 57:35Speaker 4: I mean, you're probably going to be in the top ten.
- 57:37Speaker 4: And I don't know when was the last time there
- 57:40Speaker 4: wasn't a receiver that was that good that came out
- 57:43Speaker 4: like not one for sure?
- 57:44Speaker 1: Like me? Well, I don't know. I mean the way
- 57:47Speaker 1: they're talking about Harrison, I.
- 57:48Speaker 4: Know how they're talking about him.
- 57:49Speaker 1: I'm just asking there's another guy that Paul doesn't washing,
- 57:54Speaker 1: Paul washing, Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 57:56Speaker 4: I think I think he's tremendous. Is he better than Justinjefferson?
- 58:01Speaker 1: The way they're talking about him again.
- 58:04Speaker 4: I know how they're talking about is he better than him?
- 58:07Speaker 4: I don't know, but I'm just saying, is he better
- 58:10Speaker 4: than Jamar Chase?
- 58:11Speaker 1: Out of the draft? You know, he's ranked higher than Chase.
- 58:17Speaker 4: I know what, Like Trevor Lawrence was considered that too,
- 58:19Speaker 4: he hasn't been that That's true, Okay. I understand what
- 58:22Speaker 4: people are saying about him, and I love him. I
- 58:25Speaker 4: think he's a great wide receiver prospect. And Alex's plan
- 58:28Speaker 4: makes all the sense in the world. Doesn't matter if
- 58:31Speaker 4: you're not going to pay forty million, as you said,
- 58:33Speaker 4: they won't for a quarterback, and that's not going to
- 58:36Speaker 4: help you do anything if you're just going to try
- 58:38Speaker 4: Jacoby brissetto.
- 58:39Speaker 1: But if you've writ Justin Fields over here.
- 58:42Speaker 4: You probably not. The Bears aren't interested in it. They've
- 58:47Speaker 4: had him for three years. They have that option, they could,
- 58:50Speaker 4: They could keep Fields and take Marvin Harrison.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I know a But if in the event that they don't,
- 58:55Speaker 1: that's that's a path.
- 58:57Speaker 4: A path to what winning It's a path to being
- 59:00Speaker 4: the Jets.
- 59:00Speaker 1: It's no, it's a path to a productive offense.
- 59:04Speaker 4: No, it's not not unless you have a quarterback.
- 59:07Speaker 1: So you don't like Justin Fields. You think he stinks.
- 59:10Speaker 4: Justin Fields isn't on the Patriots.
- 59:11Speaker 1: Fred I said, if you can get him.
- 59:14Speaker 4: So what are you giving up for that?
- 59:16Speaker 1: At whatever second round pick and Matt you know, whatever
- 59:19Speaker 1: you want to give them. But that's I I just
- 59:21Speaker 1: assume getting him as a bridge. If you're talking about
- 59:23Speaker 1: a bridge quarterback a third round pick, I'd just as
- 59:26Speaker 1: soon take a chance on Justin Fields and bringing in
- 59:28Speaker 1: Kyler Murray.
- 59:31Speaker 4: I have no problem taking a shot with Justin Fields.
- 59:33Speaker 4: But I don't think that that's getting you where you
- 59:35Speaker 4: want to go. I like Justin I think it might. Okay,
- 59:38Speaker 4: so the Bears are just stupid. They don't see this
- 59:41Speaker 4: on this opportunity that's staring them right in the face.
- 59:43Speaker 4: They just keep the quarterback you have in draft Arvin Harrison,
- 59:47Speaker 4: and you were suddenly going to be a potent office.
- 59:49Speaker 1: If the Bears were in the middle of the draft,
- 59:52Speaker 1: let's say they were like eight to nine last year,
- 59:54Speaker 1: they'd be sticking with Justin Fields. The thing is, they
- 59:57Speaker 1: have this opportunity now to get because they have the
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: high draft pick from the trade, to get the best
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: of the best. Yeah, it doesn't matter how they got
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: the pick. They have this pick staring in their face.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: And so now they have to make a decision. Do
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: we stick with Justin Field's or do we go after
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: the guy that we think is the best.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: But you think it's a no brainer, I don't think
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: right there, if they did, no, why would the Bears not?
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: I don't And people in Chicago don't think it's.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: The Patriots have the same option. They can draft a
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: quarterback or they could go to Justin I just.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Told you, I don't think it's a no brainer. People
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: in Chicago are debating this.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: Oh, I definitely think it's a debate. I totally agree.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: So now we can get if they decide to go for,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: you know, the other quarterback, we might be able to
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: get Justin Fields, the guy that.
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: I just don't understand why that is so exciting to people.
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: I like Justin Fields.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: But it's all a lot better than what we got.
- 1:00:51Speaker 12: Now.
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: Is it better than Drake May? Is it better than
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: Caleb Williams?
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: I don't think it is. We're not going to get them.
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: Why not? You're picking third? You have the source.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Because the teams above us want them, they like them too.
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: Then winner's the debate? I don't. You're just talking in
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: a huge circle. If it's if it's a debate, it's
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: a debate. If it's not, you you can get where
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: you want to go.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: My point about the debate is that it's not like
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: they think Justin Field stinks. There's a lot of people
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: in Chicago that thinks he has a future that he's
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: been getting.
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: I am intrigued by the Justin Fields thing, just because
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: I like that better than any alternative than anybody's. Now,
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: if you're telling me just pick one, at three.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I like that.
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: The best someone that they say is if it's Jayden
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: Daniels and they just Gerard Meyo says, I like this
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: Daniels kid. I want Daniels. That would get me the
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: most excited. But Plan B would be this Justin Fields
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: thing for me for me personally, right, But by no
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: means my saying, well, you get Justin Fields and Marvin
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: Harrison's your offense. I don't see it that way. I
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: think I think DJ Moore is a really good player.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: But here's the thing about and have an off Here's
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: the thing about Justin It's not like you're stuck with him,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: Like if he doesn't pan out, you're still in the
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: quarterback market, right.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: But you've lost an opportunity.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: But you've but you've also got Marvin Harrison.
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: I know, but you've lost an opportunity to do anything about.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: Do you think the Jets are looking at it right
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: now saying but we have Garrett Wilson. No, they're suicidal
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: because they haven't had an ability to make that pan out.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: They're also suicidal because they are quarterbacks stunk, right, you know.
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: And this is again, this is the scenario that I'm
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: trying to unfold.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I know, but like I, I don't think Fields is as
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: bad as Zach Wilson.
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: No, he's not as bad as Zach Wilson. You know
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: I liked I like Fields, but I'm certainly not convinced
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: he's the answer, are you? No? No, I like Fields
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: probably more than anybody in this room.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Get It would give me hope.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: I would give me hope only because it would be
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: something to improve me. Got It would give me hope
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: because I don't have to watch that anymore.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: We we got a generational receiver, and we got a
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: quarterback who might.
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: Be good generational receivers. I never played it down.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: I hope, But that's what they're saying.
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: I'm just bloodlin, you know, I know.
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: And that's like you're in You're getting to like the
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: heart of like the football debate right now, which is
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: like nothing better than to roll Marvin Harrison out on
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: the field as the draft pick, and that gets the
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: fan base excited and fantasy football, and you know, there.
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: Are a million examples of these guys that come in
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: and they're great, and like Calvin Johnson was as good
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: as anybody I've ever seen. Like for what what do
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: you get out of it like it's just a hard
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: position to control a game from when you don't have
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: an answer at that quarterback spot. And I just look
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: at it, like, do you honestly think like? I love
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: Marvin Harrison. I've seen him play at Ohio State for
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: the last two years, just like everybody else has. I
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: don't break down the film. I don't see him run, run,
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: leak or stick. Okay, but I love the player. He
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: looks to me like he can get deep. He can,
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: He's a precise route runner. It looks to me like
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: the total package. What do you think the chances are
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: that he's better than Justin Jefferson or Jamar Chase or
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: a lot of these other you know, Tyreek Hill, these
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: elite receivers that are in the league. I think the
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: best case that you have is that he's comparable to
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: those guys.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: And if Justin Jefferson was and you knew, you know,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: if you knew now what you if you knew then
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: what you know now about Justin Jefferson and he was
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: that three, wouldn't he be worth taking?
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: What do I have for quarterback?
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: Same scenario because if I was the if I was
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: the vituation that you are right.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: If I were the Vikings next year and I do
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: not retain Kirk Cousins, no, that wouldn't be my pick.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: Well if I if I was able to resign Cousins
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: and I have Justin Jefferson on the board at number three,
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: sign me up. So if the Patriots want to do that,
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: But you say that they wouldn't, and I don't think
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: you're wrong. By the way, this isn't one of my
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: trying to set front up into a trap things that
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: I like to do. I think you're right. I don't
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: think they would give forty million dollars to one of
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: these these guys, right, But that's what they cost. If
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: Alex's plan is to come to fruition, right, they have
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: to pay for it. Like even Baker Mayfield is going
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: to make some decent money.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Because Baker Mayfield doesn't want to be a bridge quarterback.
- 1:05:11Speaker 11: Yeah, that's why I wish we would just spend the money.
- 1:05:14Speaker 10: It feels like the most efficient way to target like
- 1:05:17Speaker 10: those three major needs you have. I don't know, especially
- 1:05:20Speaker 10: with how deep the guards are that every not that
- 1:05:23Speaker 10: I know.
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: And I really really like Marvin Harrison before this gets like,
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: I just don't want them without a quarterback.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: About our discussion, right, imagine what it's happening right now
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: down in the Patriots personnel and scouting, and someone's got
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: to decide.
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: I'd like to think there's someone that actually knows talent
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: and evaluates these things, not like Paul who kind of
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: likes Jayden Daniels but is worried about his passing but
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: really likes straight I'd like to think someone that's actually
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: a professional at this. But even there's a little bit
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: more money idea.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: It's like, I'm not talking about guys in football sets,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: but the Jeremiahs. And there's no consensus there about Drake
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: may or Jayden and Daniel.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: I'll tell you the consensus. It's Williams May that's the consensus.
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: The consensus.
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: But the reality is that one or two of these
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: guys might work out and be a star.
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: Like one or two absolutely that might absolutely, just like
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: there's gonna be five wide receivers taken and one or
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: two of them are going to be really good. I
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: like neighbors. I don't want to like me.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: I don't want to I like.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: I always pronounced that I finally got it, But you know,
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: neighbors It's like, I nothing against Marvin Harrison, but like
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: I'm super good too. I think all three they were
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: gonna be really good receivers taken they were going It
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: just happens every year. There's a lot of good receivers,
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: but you're not going to get a chance to take
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: the you know, going down the list to get you
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: can get a tackle, you can get a wide receiver.
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: You're not like the whole Michael Pennix in the second
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: round thing doesn't excite me far.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: No, And I'll go back to what I said at
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: the top of the show. If they like Jayden Daniels them,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: they have to take that.
- 1:07:07Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: If Arthur is right, yeah, you got to take them.
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: They have to take And then you could be wishy
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: and not washy.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Tony's in Canada. What's up, Tony?
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: I really did like that line that.
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: I wish for him.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Tony, Hi, guys.
- 1:07:22Speaker 22: Yeah, it's certainly an interesting conversation about receivers. I called
- 1:07:27Speaker 22: him about actually about the coaching staff. But wouldn't it
- 1:07:31Speaker 22: be something if we drafted Harrison? And also Jerry Rice's
- 1:07:35Speaker 22: kid is in so can you imagine our receiving room
- 1:07:38Speaker 22: with names like Harrison and Rice, And there's been a
- 1:07:44Speaker 22: lot of news lately on the media about how the
- 1:07:49Speaker 22: Patriots are having trouble building up there, like finding an
- 1:07:53Speaker 22: oc offensive coordinator, because I've been hearing that it's new
- 1:07:58Speaker 22: Enland's not really an attractive place to come to. It's
- 1:08:01Speaker 22: a challenge for someone maybe to take that position and
- 1:08:06Speaker 22: finding someone to run mcvay's offense or something like that.
- 1:08:09Speaker 22: But something that struck me as being kind of odd
- 1:08:13Speaker 22: as far as I know, and correct me if I'm mistaken,
- 1:08:15Speaker 22: there's no limit as far as like a cap spending
- 1:08:19Speaker 22: for your coaching staff and if Craft really wants to
- 1:08:25Speaker 22: fix things around. And it's easy for me to say,
- 1:08:28Speaker 22: if I was Craft, I'm not spending my own money.
- 1:08:30Speaker 22: But if there's no limit in terms of how much
- 1:08:33Speaker 22: you can spend to build a staff, even if it
- 1:08:37Speaker 22: wasn't that attractive position, why couldn't you just basically offer
- 1:08:41Speaker 22: something over and above, like, you know, double whatever.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: You could what they did McDaniels to keep its.
- 1:08:49Speaker 22: Really not that big of a deal. I don't know,
- 1:08:52Speaker 22: that's my idea, And I'll listen, guys.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Thanks, Thanks Ton. I hope they do that with offensive
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: line coach. You know, I'll get the best one. You
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: think Clem's going, I don't know where is he? Where
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: is I think he's think he's staying. I think I
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: think the guys that are under contractor staying.
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: Yeah, just real quick.
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: Diana Rassini reported that Bill did was considered for Washington.
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: They spoke, but he had some supporters, but that they went.
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: With I highly question that report. High. Why do you
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: question it because it runs extremely counter to something somebody
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: told me.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Okay, and that's something unless unless somebody is Josh Harris,
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: someone who spoke directly to Josh Harris.
- 1:09:39Speaker 7: Really, yes, unless there was like a travels in circles,
- 1:09:45Speaker 7: he would never realizewhere some.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Of these straw men.
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: Man. Just because just because you're not allowed to actually
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: report on things when you work for the team doesn't
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: mean that you don't try to still beat in the bushes.
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: No stuff. Anyway, there is always a possibility that when
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: Ben Johnson left Washington at the Altar early in the week,
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: there was a my opinion, if that's true, If that,
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: and let's face it, few national reporters have had more
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: misinformation out there than that particular one. If that's true,
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: my guess would be that Bill's camp reached out to
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: Washington after the news of the Ben Johnson thing. And
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: that's the talk.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Do you know what?
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, they started it. I like that.
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: I just I don't from what I was told, I
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: don't think there was a lot of interest in a
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: seventy two year old coach. They want to start over
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: in Washington. Now, I don't think dan Quinn is all
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: that young either, So about the hat backwards? How old
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: is dan Quinn? You know? So maybe they did. Maybe
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: they had a change of course when Ben Johnson stiffed him.
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: See so Ben Johnson.
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: Right right, I mean it was like he was that
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: like someone's like dance recital. It was only fifty three. Yeah,
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: that's that's really Maybe he was out of dance recital
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: and didn't properly acknowledge someone's niece.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Uh, Trent, is that right, Trented?
- 1:11:18Speaker 15: Yes?
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Okay, where's Holston?
- 1:11:20Speaker 12: Uh?
- 1:11:21Speaker 23: It's right next to the Cambridge, It's right next to
- 1:11:23Speaker 23: the our box center.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Oh okay, I never heard of Holston.
- 1:11:29Speaker 23: Yeah, but first time caller, a longtime listener. You guys
- 1:11:32Speaker 23: are great. I think I'm three guys. What I think
- 1:11:35Speaker 23: is a curve ball. But my question is, since the
- 1:11:38Speaker 23: UFL is coming up starts in March as in June.
- 1:11:42Speaker 23: I know Patriots, I don't know Drag have the same mindset.
- 1:11:44Speaker 23: But Patriots are good at finding talent that maybe other
- 1:11:48Speaker 23: teams look past. And I know the UFL will be
- 1:11:51Speaker 23: full of players that couldn't make an NFL team or
- 1:11:54Speaker 23: undrafted players that just maybe didn't.
- 1:11:56Speaker 19: Have what it took.
- 1:11:57Speaker 23: Do you think it'll be a viable source?
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: So I think you're going to see guys come out
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: of that. You know, not a lot, but you know.
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: You'll get guys. You won't get any two or three
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: a year, you won't get any impact players, but you'll
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: get some guys that end up being the fifty third
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: man on a roster and playing special teams in the
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: back up.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: But here's the thing, Trent, And when you say you
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: know the Patriots are good at finding guys that you
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: know they used to be like, no matter what, no
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: matter if the Patriots are fill in the blank, you
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: have to start over. Now. We don't know what the
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: Patriots are good.
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: Are they any different at it than everybody else?
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: But they did have success, you know a lot of
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: success undrafted guys and things like that, but right everybody
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: else right now, they're starting over with all of that.
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: To me, that's so like down the bottom of the
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: wrong like trenches they got.
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: They need talent.
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: They need guys who move the needle and like you know,
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: finding that needle in a haystack, who can come in
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: and be like a solid.
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: You can get a Jeremiah Farms. Yeah, I know you're
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: not going to get Christian Barmore out of the UFL.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: Like I know I will not be watching.
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: Oh I probably will because I'm a degenerate. But you
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: know that's just the way it is.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: What about can I just throw out Calvin Ridley's name,
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: because like we haven't really talked about free agency much
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: at all, and like I.
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: Just I would.
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: He's a really good player that you know is gonna
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: hit free agency.
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: I mean, they've got money to spend.
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: It's like, how don't just spread it all around, Like
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: get a guy like Calvin Ridley instead of Kendrick Bourne
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: Punk plug him into.
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: That, do you think? But do you think Calvin Ridley
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: would be interested in signing with Patrios?
- 1:13:25Speaker 9: No?
- 1:13:25Speaker 5: Maybe interested some money.
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: We got the money, but the money is probably going
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: to be to get Daniels pretty.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: Ch I try.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: No.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: I mean, it's you know, it's a fair point, but
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: I'm saying, you know that that's the kind of guy
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: I would probably you don't have.
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: And Daniels, why not not yet because the draft isn't
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: until May.
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: Hey, yeah, don't worry. We got we got you. We're
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: gonna it's not just gonna be gonna be.
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: Uh No, I don't know.
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: I just don't mean it's we jump right into the draft,
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: and there's so you know, and there's just so many
- 1:13:54Speaker 5: things that could happen in free agency and guys like
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: that that I feel like, you know, of course, he
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: might say, look, I'm gonna go somewhere with a quarterback
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: who's established and.
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: I don't know, maybe Kansas City. Yeah, sure, I mean,
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: you know, possible.
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: But at the same time that those are the kind
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: of moves that they have to be trying to make,
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: like those are the stuff that's going to move the needle.
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: And then you know that, I mean, you can't sign
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: a bunch of middle class guys again, like you need
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: some talent. You need people that are gonna get fans
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: excited here. And what about I thought about Pittman. Yeah,
- 1:14:22Speaker 5: I mean I'm not against him either.
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: Yeah, No, I look Ridley better.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: I like you.
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: You know, Higgins is at the top, but like Ridley,
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: I think I.
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: Did some digging, but I had him on my short list.
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: I just Pittman's numbers were better than I thought they were,
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: so I think maybe he's gonna end up being more
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: expensive than I thought.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: Curtis Samuel's the other one I kind of liked.
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I like him, but that I mean, that's the
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: kind of guys that I think level but.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: Been talked about like a couple of years ago coming here,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: you know, Patriots interested in him.
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I you know, there's just a lot of.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: Things that they can do, Like, you know, where's the food, Matt,
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: I don't know, would you guys go to a new
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: place today or something?
- 1:15:00Speaker 10: Uh?
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: Yeah, he's got you gotta stay stay in the regulars.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: Andre's in Tennessee. Andre. He couldn't hang on job.
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: I've heard good things about this place. All right, Well,
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: we'll see Paul. Clearly I already screwed up the orders.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: I don't know. Let's see a lot of emails coming
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: in web radio take Yeah, I think that's going to
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: be Hi, Jack writes in I'm curious as to what
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Paul's ideal first pick for us would be. Getting Caleb
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: Williams seems unrealistic. I wish you washed what best case
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: scenario if the cards fell into place. Sometimes it feels
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: like he doesn't want anyone.
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: No, I like Williams in May, I would take you
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: the one of those, and I would take Daniels. I
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: could be definitely. Arthur did a good job of like
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: sort of selling me on on on Daniels. I never
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: im like, I personally think he needs work as a passer,
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: but I didn't disagree with anything you said about him
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: as a runner. And I think if you come into
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: the league with an elite skill set, you can kind
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: of learn the rest like I. I. Yeah, that's why
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: I'm wishy washy, like I could be talked into it.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: It just bummed me.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: But I like all three of them. I do.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I was a better runner coming out
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: of college. Michael Vicker, Mike Vick, nobody was Michael Vick
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: Nate in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I'm pretty sure the news drop
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: between shows, so I'm not positive you guys discussed what
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: are everyone's feelings on the booty arrest.
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: We didn't talk about right, but I don't think we
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: did talk about it. We didn't talk. We didn't Good job.
- 1:16:42Speaker 11: I think it broke right after the show Thursday.
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: Good job steering the ship.
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: Like what Pauls was talking about, Like his logging was
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: like Kaishan Bohan boy oh one in seven, Yeah, you
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: gotta get rid of it.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: I mean, was that all nil money that he was using.
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: God, I don't know what mode he was using, but
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: he was betting on himself.
- 1:17:02Speaker 10: The thing is he was making fake names like the
- 1:17:05Speaker 10: dis like the names would be fake, but then the
- 1:17:08Speaker 10: username would be like just keep it.
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: So he says it's like John Smith, but but it
- 1:17:14Speaker 5: says at Kashan Butte.
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: Over almost nine thousand bets he placed, including some on
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: his own team. I agree. I agree with Mike, He's go,
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: you gotta go. I'm kind of surprised. I mean, I
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: guess they're in the off season.
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: They're going to just let it kind of linger for
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: a little bit before they have to make a decision.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: But I think you're going to see that happening more. Yeah,
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: what do you mean, just getting more more rope?
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: They stuck by Jack.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: Uh Mike writes in he says trade down is a must.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: The draft is loaded and they only have seven picks.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: They need talent and players.
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: The draft is not loaded. I think there's strong positions. Yeah,
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: and what so, just as a point of comparison, and
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: Mike and I talked about this a little lot. Fair
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: people are talking about this draft that there's only about
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: four or five rounds of players. There is so much
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: fewer underclassmen that because of the nil because of COVID,
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: you know, the last remnants of COVID, that there's a
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: lot of guys. I think they only had like thirty
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: players declare as underclassmen is usually over one hundred. So
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: I think your boy Jim Naggy at the Senior Bowl
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: opined that day three picks are going to be undrafted
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: free agents of the past. This draft is not loaded.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: Now it is strong at the positions that you need. Quarterback, wide, receiver, tackle,
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: they're supposed to be all three of those spots are
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: supposed to be deep.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: Yep, Jared and Vermont. I feel like I'm going crazy.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: I have zero interest in drafting a quarterback in the
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: first round, no matter who you pick, it's doomed on
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: this team. How many crappy teams have to draft the
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: shiny object just for it to blow up a year
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: or two later before people learn trade down, trade Jude
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: on stockpile picks so that you can pick up quarterback eventually, hopefully.
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: Well, that's my argument that I have with Felger. You know,
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: it's like, you know, make a trade with someone who
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: you think is going to be bad. I go, why
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: so you can be in the top you know, picking
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: in the top three again next year? So you can
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: trade it because you won't pick you won't pick the
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: talent because you don't believe in talent. Like I just
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: don't understand the notion of quarterbacks bust, so don't take one. Well,
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: somewhere along the line you have to get it. Teams
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: that are good that drafted their quarterbacks. I mean, I'm
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: sure that these are the same people that have said
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: there's no way ever Kansas City should be moving up
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: twenty spots in the first round to take Patrick Mahomes
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: or Buffalo should be moving up, you know, from the
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: bottom of the first round to the number seven to
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: take Josh Allen. But how do you how do you
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: do it if you don't make that kind of a.
- 1:19:53Speaker 5: Move, and it's Fred's think it's conviction.
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: You know, Cincinnati was right for taking Joe Burrow number
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: one overall. Those umber one picks never work until they do. Like,
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: I get it. Like there, it's a risk, and quarterback
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: is a bigger risk than all the other spots. But
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: you can't go into a pick and saying I'm not
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: gonna take it because I'm gonna blow it anyway.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Hire good coaches, spend money in your evaluations, and trust
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: your and the information that you get.
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: And how many of these guys, Like do you think
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: Baker Mayfield's any good? Fred, Yes, you do, right, yep.
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: So he's taken with the number one overall pick. I
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: don't think he's as good as you.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: I don't think he's that good.
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: But I'm just saying you think he's pretty good. Yeah,
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: not everybody else. See, you can't take Baker Mayfield. Well, no,
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: if you did it right, he'd probably be better for
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: you if you if you didn't have four offensive coordinators
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: in his first four seasons in Cleveland, maybe he wouldn't
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: have been a mess by the time he left the Browns. Yeah,
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: you know, Matthew Stafford. Don't tell me Matthew Stafford wasn't
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: deserving talent wise or the number one overall pick. He's
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: been a really good player for a long time. The
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: fact that the Lions couldn't figure it out with him,
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: he's on the Lions. He looks pretty good now.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: Yep. Great Robin san Diego via Connecticut. Watching the games
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: last week, something stood out to me. Many people are
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: talking about coaching and discipline, but what about playmakers? Yes,
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: the Lions and Ravens have many self inflicted wounds, but
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: I also saw Kelsey and McCaffrey have game changing style plays.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: I bring this up because of the drum beat for
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: building inside out in New England. I don't know which
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: way is best, but it seemed to me that self
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: inflicted wounds aside. The teams with the playmakers are the
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: teams that advanced. I understand that this might be a
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: multi year view of team building, but boy, with the
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: internal hires, inexperienced coaches, and prospects of linemen high in
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: the draft, it seems like some red Sox vibes.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: Oh that's bad. I think it's both. I think there
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: was plenty of playmakers on all four teams last week.
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: I mean, Jamison Williams looked like a pretty dynamic playmaker
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: to me. Nice touchdown, he touched the ball three times,
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: it was in the end zone twice. But Josh Reynolds
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: dropped passes and they lost. You know, McCaffrey was great,
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: Kelsey was great. Zay Flowers made all kinds of plays
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: and also did some really stupid things. But he, I mean,
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: he didn't. He didn't make any plays in that game.
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: The bomb that he caught for a touchdown, the scramble drill.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: He was also one of the reasons they were still
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: in there.
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: There was a lot of playmaking done in those games
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: by the teams that lost.
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: Yeah, Gibbs, I mean, Gibbs was remember last year when
- 1:22:32Speaker 5: they picked Gibbs what you know, But same thing.
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: It's just, you know, he made a play and any fumble.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: He's a good player.
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: He's a really good player. But that's that's my point.
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: I think that's what Mike was trying to say.
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: But it's just, you know, I think it's that there's
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: no one way to do anything, and you know, it's
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: it's that that pick got some controversy, but he was
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: you know he's developing into a stud to what they need,
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: and you know it's it's that's why it's like you
- 1:22:54Speaker 5: can throw all these comparisons of everything.
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: And that's why I say, just if it's Marvin Harris,
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: if Alex's playing comes to fruition, I'd be fine with
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: that because if he's a really good like no, if
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: he's a really good player, that's got to be your
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: only goal. Fred I got to come out of this draft.
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: If I pick somebody at three, he needs to be
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: a really good player, right, And Mike is right. There's
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: a million different ways you can structure your team and
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: get the pieces first, last, second, whatever. But if you
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: don't hit, you know, like Jamiir Gibbs is a good player.
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: Now I would have taken something else, still would take
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: something else, but he hit. So the Lion's not going
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: to look at that and say, man, we had that opportunity,
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: blew it. Yeah, you know, Jack Campbell, I think a
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: little differently about that first round pick. Yeah, I don't
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: think he's a hit.
- 1:23:42Speaker 5: And the thing that I can't get away from is just.
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: That if you really truly.
- 1:23:46Speaker 5: Looked at the board at three of what they should
- 1:23:50Speaker 5: take emotions aside, like you know, it's probably Marvin Harrison.
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: I mean, he's probably the second best player in this draft.
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: And it's hard to you know, no matter how much
- 1:23:58Speaker 5: you want to say they need to protect the quarterback
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: that you know, it's like he is the best player
- 1:24:04Speaker 5: available when they're gonna probably be picking, and you have
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: to you have to at least consider that, you know,
- 1:24:09Speaker 5: maybe somebody like that gives you a little bit more
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: juice to bring a quarterback in or something like that.
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: You know, and I know you're Dorman man, but or
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: fans too.
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: So it's if that's the rationale, If that was if
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: that's what they came away with, I think I would
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: be on board with that. If they said, we had
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: our choice between Drake May, Jylen Daniels and Marvin Harrison
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: and Joe Walt or whoever else, and we thought significant
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: by a significant margin, Marvin Harrison Junior was the best player.
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: I don't know how anybody argues with that. Throw throw
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: the rest out, throw out. You know what do you need?
- 1:24:39Speaker 5: And know you know Calvin in or you know with
- 1:24:42Speaker 5: Calvin Johnson, you know, like all the all the things
- 1:24:45Speaker 5: of the past that have not worked out and you know.
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: It's again, I would say, put it. I would say
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: my same argument against those that I just used for
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: the quarterback. Just because it didn't work, it doesn't mean
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: it's never gonna For.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: Years, the Patriots are drafting linebackers until they got Rob Gronkowski.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: I mean, but you don't stop doing it because you
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: know Dan Graham wasn't worth a first round pick or
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Ben Watson wasn't worth a first round pick.
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: Well, it's just it's hard.
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: It's hard for me even to sit here and be like, well,
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: that's not how teams are built. Like you have to
- 1:25:10Speaker 5: get a tackle, like you that's the it's one of
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: the trenches, and that's you know you have. I got
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: to protect the quarterback, and you know it's it's it
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: would be easy to get pace all that.
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: It's a good case STUF like San Francisco with all
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: those draft picks.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: Tyler in New York City, Hello Alex and others.
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: We're now in the rest. I want the Patriots now.
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: You feel like I want to pay coach the.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: Draft Marvin Harrison. Will it be smarter move getting a quarterback? Maybe?
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: But I've watched decades of Patriots football with a really
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: good quarterback. But I've watched almost no Patriots football starring
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: a true number one receiver Randy Mows. But no, I
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: get it. Marvin Harrison Junior will be fun to watch.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: He's going to do things in a Patriots uniform that
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: we haven't seen before. Sure, those things might happen on
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: a six and eleven team as where we're building, but
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: I'm fine with that. Is he going to be fine
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: with it? I view the NFL and the Patriots as
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: a form of entertainment. When Brady was on the team,
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: my entertainment was maximized by competing for Super Bowls every year.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: Without that aspect of this entertainment being available to Patriots
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: fans these days, I have to look elsewhere, and where
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: better to look than the best wide receiver prospect of
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: the last several drafts. Patriots football has not been fun
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: to watch for several years. I think Marvin Harrison Junior
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: can make it fun. I'm open.
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: I'm open. That's an interesting argument, though it really is. Yeah,
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: like we could be six and eleven, but at least
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: will be entertaining.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: Let's see Allison in Chicago trade a second round pick
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: for fields draft Harrison or another star receiver in Draft
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: O line fields is likely better than the quarterbacks in
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: this draft other than Caleb Williams. Also, as to being
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: the world's original podcast, they will say you were my
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: first podcast. They found you in twenty ten and have
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: been listening ever since, other than a few episodes after
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: Malcolm Butler was benched the Super Bowl because I was
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: so angry with the Patriots and I needed a break.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: Thanks so much for keeping us engaged all year long
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: and the Patriots and other topics. You're welcome, Alison. Yeah,
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: so there you go.
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: This is gonna be I usually love the off season shows.
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: He's not gonna speak grind. It's gonna be a grind
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: between Caleb Williams, Drake May, Jalen Daniels, Marvin Harrison Junior.
- 1:27:23Speaker 4: Probably not.
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: Do you feel like Marvin Harrison Senior was kind of
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: soft though?
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: He like, oh god, no, he was great. Oh really yeah,
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: it was great, Like I don't know, I guess I'm
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: just thinking of the games here.
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: Well, he's like they just destroyed him and he.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: Was doing then what a lot of the smaller quarterbacks
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: do now is they get down, they don't take the hit.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: And people said oh, you know, he doesn't go for
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: the extra yards, you know when contact comes. But he
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: was smart, like you know, it's.
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: Like Eugene Wilson like spearing him with like like a
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: missile like.
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: That was like, I know exactly, I know exactly the
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: player you're talking about.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: He was very good. And what am I incorrectly? He
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: was fast, but he wasn't like a blazer. He was
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: just a really good route runner. Smart.
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: I don't I don't remember thinking of him as like
- 1:28:10Speaker 4: a tyree kill no, right, but he was great.
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: Kind of the same guys, right, I mean, just similar
- 1:28:17Speaker 5: in the mold smart and.
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: You know they were in tune with Peyton Manning and
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: I'm sure, but I do wonder like how much Manning
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: made them because then they lost them. And he was
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: the same with Pete the Waider and Foster, right, Pete
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: the Waiter, Khan that Peter in case you went one room,
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: Pete the Wader.
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: Christian writes in I know you guys said, that's good.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: What's that Pete the Wader?
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: That was that was your line?
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: I know the credit. I know you guys said that
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: you are wishy washy with some quarterbacks. I've been watching
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: the full games and breaking down film with some of
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: my college teammates when we played, and I think the
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: quarterback order goes like this.
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: What do you think he has number one Caleb Williams.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: Nope, number one Daniels. He says he's a top three talent.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: Number two was Caleb top three talent, and number three
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: is May a five to ten pick talent. Wow.
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: All right, So he's down on Marv not.
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: Saying my opinion is right. But if I would you guys,
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: I would watch the full games of guys and think
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: you might see that Drake May is being overhyped. Watching
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: individual plays doesn't necessarily show what actually happened in the game.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: He's right there, you.
- 1:29:32Speaker 5: See from what I've watched of May, though, I have
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: a little bit of intrigue, like what we talked about
- 1:29:36Speaker 5: with Marvin Harrison, that he's kind of interesting and fun
- 1:29:40Speaker 5: to watch, you know, and it's not always great, but
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: I mean, I'm, you know, watching him throw left handed passes,
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: and you know he's athletic, he's got a big arm,
- 1:29:46Speaker 5: so I mean I see some kind of entertainment factor
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: from him.
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: Yeah, And to me, it's not about necessarily breaking down
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: the games like it's a skill set and what they
- 1:29:56Speaker 4: bring and how they play. Like if you go to
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: North Carolina too years ago and watch Drake May it
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: looks a lot different than it did last year. Yeah,
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: a lot different. He was much better two years ago.
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: James Pettigrew, the most interesting Patriots fan in the world,
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: rites in says, draft a quarterback. If we and he sucks,
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: take a quarterback withhe our high first pick the next year.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: Repeat until you have a franchise quarterback.
- 1:30:19Speaker 4: This is my That's where I though where I land. Like,
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: if you miss, just take one the next year, do
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: it again, keep rolling it.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: Let's see Mike and Charlotte. If the Patriots draft a
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: quarterback at three, they need to spend the next two
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: picks on o line. You can have all the weapons
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: in the world, but if the quarterback is on his back,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: maybe you can find some serviceable receivers and free agency
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: to get by for this year and focus on wide
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: receiver in next year's draft.
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: I mean, I don't need to overdo it at tackle,
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: like I mean, I would like to get a couple,
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: but I mean, to me, what kind of makes the
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: most sense would be to take the quarterback to take
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: the receiver to take the next best tackle, because there'll
- 1:30:58Speaker 5: be another good tackle left in the second round, and
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: then in the third round.
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: Hit one of these receivers. You know, just that like
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: meet to me, late second round, third round. That's where
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: you do.
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: The same thing with the quarterback every year. Let's just
- 1:31:09Speaker 5: continue to take a couple guys. You know, you look
- 1:31:12Speaker 5: at Green Bay, you look at what they've done in Detroit,
- 1:31:14Speaker 5: like these teams that have just continued to throw mid
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: round selections at wide receiver, at tight end, at running back,
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: the weapons spots without overinvesting too much of the high
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: end draft capital, and and you'll get a bunch of them,
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: you know, And then I don't know, there's just and
- 1:31:28Speaker 5: I don't want this to become like we need we
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: want to have a bunch of twos and threes. But
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: like I see appeal to not being a team with
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: we have one superstar stud receiver on the outside. And
- 1:31:37Speaker 5: then it's kind of meh, you know, like I personally,
- 1:31:40Speaker 5: just if you're constructing middle, well you just I'd like
- 1:31:43Speaker 5: to have where you got a bunch of different kinds
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: of weapons that everybody's pretty good taking a start.
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: But I want but I need the other guys too,
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: you know, with with Mike like I would take you know,
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: I don't think anybody would argue if you ended up
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: with like Watson, Reid and uh yeah jobs and wait
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: in Wicks like these are all like Day two and
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: Day three picks. Ye, Like, I don't think anybody would like, well,
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: you know what they really need they need a star. No,
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: they're all pretty good players. Yeah, and it works.
- 1:32:11Speaker 5: And Watson has the body type that you know.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: I think I think he can be the star he
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: ever stays in training camp, you know, this year. But yeah,
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: but he was also basically a first round he was
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: like the thirty four.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: But you know, whether it's on offensive defense, in some
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: positions you need guys that they're just better than the
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: other guys and the other team. Yeah, you know you
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: need some of those, like everybody can't be better than everyone.
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: Do we think of the interior of the offensive line.
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: I'm just offense putting it out of my mind right
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: now for.
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: The page, Like do you think that they'd be all
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: right with strange Strange Andrews. So with Mafi and Jake Andrews,
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: that that.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: Core of five, who is my offensive line coach.
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: Adrian Klemp, But what do you think of those those
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: five guys? So, in other words, if you can get
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: a tackle, if you could get Joe Walt and he hits,
- 1:33:06Speaker 4: is your offensive line Okay.
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: It's better? Yeah, it could be.
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: I mean, I think you'd be fine. It's it's yeah,
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: I mean, I think it's fine. I think the problems
- 1:33:15Speaker 4: with the offensive line are greatly exacerbated by the lack
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: of weapons on offense. I think the offensive line takes
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: all the heat. They weren't good. Not saying that they were.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: They weren't good. I don't think we're eating. Yeah, that's
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: pizza time. Man's apparently pizza time never arruns.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: That's pizza time.
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: Work not find the delivery driver.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Uh well, we got plenty of calls and emails, so
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: it's not like we have nothing to do. Uh Andre's
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: and Tennessee. Uh you were off the line last time there.
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: Now yeah, I'm here.
- 1:33:54Speaker 15: So I have a question. So there's a quarterback that
- 1:33:57Speaker 15: no one is talking about that was one of the
- 1:34:01Speaker 15: top quarterbacks in the n c A this year. Jordan's
- 1:34:04Speaker 15: Travis Yep. How do y'all feel about drafting Marvin Harris
- 1:34:09Speaker 15: and their number three and then some some late round pick.
- 1:34:13Speaker 15: Go get Jordan Travis, let him heal up and let
- 1:34:17Speaker 15: him be our quarterback for next year. And with the
- 1:34:19Speaker 15: British quarterback this year.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: Now, I could be educate me on this guy.
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: Florida State. Florida State didn't make the playoffs.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: Of course.
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: I like him. I think he's a little small, but
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: he's a good player. I wouldn't be supposed to taking
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: the day three pick. I wouldn't.
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: I mean, yes, you got to draft the quarterback no
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: matter what, whether it's three overall, I mean i'd be
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: I'd be down for anybody, down for anybody. I mean
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: I don't there's certainly guys I don't like.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: What was his.
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: Injury, had a a cl injury.
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: He's small, he's small, Yeah, yeah, he's.
- 1:34:58Speaker 24: A good player.
- 1:34:59Speaker 15: Murdered wrong.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: Yeah yeah yeah.
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: Do you want him? You could probably get him. I
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: don't know that.
- 1:35:08Speaker 5: Well, I guess because we're just we're flirting with Jayden
- 1:35:10Speaker 5: Daniels and Drake May.
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: It's like guys just.
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: That that they have the tank, like they have tangible
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: things that are like not going to change.
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: It's like with Mack you knew he was always gonna
- 1:35:19Speaker 5: not have that elite skill set, and it's like, at
- 1:35:22Speaker 5: least you got something to work with.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: Swear.
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: That's why I.
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: Swear that people and not just here in New England,
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: but people are so starved for the next quarterback that
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: we overrate these guys. Yeah.
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: No, that's it's a huge thought of mine. Fred, It's
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: I mean, that's and I think it's just like NFL
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: teams too. I think that the whole league does that.
- 1:35:39Speaker 12: You know.
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: It's like we talked, You get to the point and
- 1:35:42Speaker 5: you need a quarterback and this is the guy that's
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: sitting there and that's where he's supposed to go and
- 1:35:46Speaker 5: you feel great about him.
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: Not really, but you got to.
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: Guy hit it in one of those years where the guys,
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: the guys time.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: Let's go to Seana, Vancouver, Hey, Sean, lots of Canadian Hey.
- 1:36:00Speaker 21: You know, Mike, I agree with you about the free
- 1:36:03Speaker 21: agents that we should talk about that, but I think first,
- 1:36:06Speaker 21: you know, you got to bring back some of your
- 1:36:08Speaker 21: own players before you sign others. And the two that
- 1:36:11Speaker 21: have the top of the Patriots list players I'd want
- 1:36:14Speaker 21: them to bring back as Ollenue Henry, and then there's
- 1:36:16Speaker 21: some others that I didn't get them have good money.
- 1:36:18Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:36:19Speaker 21: And in terms of Calvin Ridley, I think he will
- 1:36:21Speaker 21: be the top target because I see Higgins and Pittman
- 1:36:28Speaker 21: going back to their respective teams to the Bengals and
- 1:36:30Speaker 21: nicolets uh this year. So I think he'll be the
- 1:36:33Speaker 21: top free agent prize. And in terms of the drafts
- 1:36:39Speaker 21: that those any of those three quarterbacks, I think it
- 1:36:42Speaker 21: would be fine. It's just if you if you do
- 1:36:44Speaker 21: get Daniels, you know, you don't want to try and
- 1:36:47Speaker 21: force him to be a pocket passer, because then you're
- 1:36:49Speaker 21: trying to fit a square peg in a round hole
- 1:36:51Speaker 21: or by versa.
- 1:36:52Speaker 15: He's with you, not can be that.
- 1:36:54Speaker 4: I agree with that. You have to let him try
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: to play like his style, like they let Lamar play. Yeah,
- 1:36:59Speaker 4: they don't force you to play from the pocket all
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: the time. It's got the limpers.
- 1:37:02Speaker 21: Yeah, we're gonna have. We're gonna have. We're going to
- 1:37:04Speaker 21: struggle as well, So we got to be patient because
- 1:37:07Speaker 21: you can.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, thanks, Sean.
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: I know I agree with Sean. I don't think you
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: can't just try to say like we're gonna run the
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: old Patriots offense with Tom Brady and have him be
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: in the pocket all the time.
- 1:37:18Speaker 10: No, that's should be burned to the ground, regardless, burning violence, fire.
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: No literally, I'm not talking burning.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: People with these guys.
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: I like them, but you don't speaking.
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: You don't have a greyhound as a pet unless you
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: have a big backyard. Oh yeah, let him run, Let
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: him run.
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: Those are weird looking dogs. They're giant, like sleep.
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: There's a lot of people who adopted.
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: My sister in law had an adopted greyhound before she
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: married my brother. You and I are similar dog guys.
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: I do not like that. I don't like dogs. I
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: didn't get too close. Dogs bite, dogs bite you. Yeah,
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: I've been bitten, a little afraid. My sister got bit
- 1:37:57Speaker 4: in the face when she was little.
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: What's the saying, I.
- 1:37:59Speaker 11: Don't I don't trust a person that doesn't like a dog,
- 1:38:01Speaker 11: but I trust a dog.
- 1:38:03Speaker 4: And I don't trust people that treat animals like their humans.
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: I've been punched. I've been punched, But I don't hate
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: all humans.
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but you can talk to you can talk to humans.
- 1:38:11Speaker 4: You're going to see it coming with humans. Here's kind
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: of not true.
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: You know, you gotta love dogs.
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: I like him from afar. I would just agree with
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: the point on Hunter Henry. I would definitely resign Hunter Henry.
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: There's just nothing out there at tight end that there's
- 1:38:26Speaker 5: not a great tight end class. There's just nothing out there.
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: I don't you know.
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: I think that he's limited.
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: I've always thought he can't really block at a plus level,
- 1:38:32Speaker 5: but he can play. He's a tight end that can
- 1:38:34Speaker 5: play in this league. I would sign something. I would
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: I would make an effort.
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: Was a captain, he's a leader.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: Just let everybody go, Yeah, wait a minute, is your
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: family pressuring you to get a dog?
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: Not anymore?
- 1:38:45Speaker 5: Fred, I've been parrying for so long that I'm like,
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: I'm I'm ahead of the game.
- 1:38:49Speaker 4: We get it to a point where like no one's
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: mentioned it for like a couple of months.
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: See, that's why he doesn't like dog.
- 1:38:53Speaker 10: He doesn't want to have one because wait until the
- 1:38:55Speaker 10: kids are on summer vacation and they're bored.
- 1:38:58Speaker 4: That's that's usually when it comes about.
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: But I don't know, I just like, I don't need
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: another thing in my life to take care of and
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: to like why, I'm honest.
- 1:39:06Speaker 10: About it and realistic, because the worst is when someone
- 1:39:08Speaker 10: gets a dog and they're just not at all prepared
- 1:39:10Speaker 10: to have a dog.
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I you know, they're cute and I'd
- 1:39:13Speaker 5: like I'd love to have a puppy, and I'm sure
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: I would be home the best friends.
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: But right now, I'm just like, I like my life.
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: My kids are older. I don't have to change diapers anymore. Right,
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: I'm off of the like I got to get up
- 1:39:23Speaker 4: and mark the dog.
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: I don't need that in my life. That is why
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: I would never have a dog. And it drives me crazy.
- 1:39:28Speaker 4: When I'm out a lot with my brother in law
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: and sister in law, they have to go home. I
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: always have to leave early. I gotta go the dog,
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: the dog, the dog. Fourth of July. The dog, the fireworks.
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: The dog is freaking out like it just it's like
- 1:39:41Speaker 4: having another baby. It is, and there's a responsibility with
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: that that I kind of I agree with that. I
- 1:39:48Speaker 4: respect Mike for saying I don't want that response right now,
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: and that's fair. It doesn't make it like a selfish
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: You don't not like dog.
- 1:39:55Speaker 5: No, no, I mean generally, but I am a little
- 1:39:57Speaker 5: bit like Paul in that you know, you don't know
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: what they're thinking.
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: To me, it's not like I'm not going to go
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: stick my face.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: Somebody's dogs hanging out with it, like a toy poodle
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: a little, a little Actually there was a ferocious poodle
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: more than right behind him.
- 1:40:14Speaker 10: Not poodles, yes, but like a multi pooh or something
- 1:40:17Speaker 10: that's multie, like a Maltese.
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: Or like a loss.
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: I could say a really bad joke, congratulations.
- 1:40:25Speaker 5: Yeah, but he's just going to what he was going
- 1:40:27Speaker 5: to say when I when I lived in LA, one
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: of our friends, you know, everybody has to adopt a dog,
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: and one of our friends, Jamie, she she's like, oh,
- 1:40:34Speaker 5: I adopted this dog. His name is Stewie, you know.
- 1:40:37Speaker 4: Named after family guy.
- 1:40:39Speaker 5: The freaking dog was just like nipping everybody, like you know,
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: it was a rescue and so it had trauma and yeah,
- 1:40:44Speaker 5: you know, anytime you got too near, it got too loud.
- 1:40:49Speaker 4: You know, this little like cross thing of a of
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: a what HuaHua.
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: You know they all have like like poor chihuahua's like
- 1:40:54Speaker 5: they're just getting mated with everything left in Get the
- 1:40:57Speaker 5: chia over here, that right, that baby poole something pools
- 1:41:03Speaker 5: like anything. Yeah, poor poodles too, those things just like
- 1:41:05Speaker 5: they have you know, they get a Golden Retriever and
- 1:41:08Speaker 5: poor poodles, Like.
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: That's what you need to get the best dog in
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: the world.
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: Golden Well, that's we have one briefly when I was
- 1:41:13Speaker 4: a kid.
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: And then labs.
- 1:41:15Speaker 3: I've never owned.
- 1:41:16Speaker 5: What's the difference between a lab and I think they're
- 1:41:18Speaker 5: they're so.
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: Longer. Yeah, but I had a black lab.
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: Yeah, my neighbor had a black black Lab that I
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: grew up with.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: He was great, just loved everybody, just so yeah, it
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: was so good.
- 1:41:31Speaker 5: We had a we had a Golden Retriever puppy when
- 1:41:33Speaker 5: I was a kid, and it's happened to coincide with
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: me and my sisters all got chicken pox at the
- 1:41:37Speaker 5: same time.
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: So my mom couldn't deal.
- 1:41:39Speaker 5: She's like, no, that's it, and just like gave like
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: we like bought the dog.
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: You know, it's like a whole thing.
- 1:41:43Speaker 5: It was on Kate cod actually and no, yeah, we
- 1:41:47Speaker 5: took bridget.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: We had a joke with our lab like if a
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: you know, a robber ever came in, here's the silverware.
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: That's what we said.
- 1:41:54Speaker 10: You know, you know, helpfrigerators right over there would lick
- 1:41:59Speaker 10: the robber to death.
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: You would lick him to death.
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's nice. I would say, it's more like
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: what Mike is saying. I'm not a dog person more
- 1:42:08Speaker 4: so than like, oh, Paul hates dogs. I'm not a
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: big dog guy. Like when you go to a house
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: and then we have a dog and like hello, and
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: you let him your hair, and I'm frightened out of
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: my mind in that scenario. Would so be the.
- 1:42:22Speaker 10: Type of guy that his family was on board. They
- 1:42:24Speaker 10: got like a little dog that he was like, I
- 1:42:26Speaker 10: don't stupid in it. But then at the end of
- 1:42:29Speaker 10: the day he's on the couch.
- 1:42:30Speaker 4: That's what everybody says. So that's that's a thousand percent.
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: But it's the same thing with the stupid cat. Here's
- 1:42:39Speaker 4: the cat's buddy now, right me? Yeah, you know at
- 1:42:42Speaker 4: night when we're watching TV, the cat sits on my lap, right,
- 1:42:45Speaker 4: And I would have been the one like I don't
- 1:42:50Speaker 4: but I think, oh, but we've we've gotten really lucky.
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: We had Beth had a cat when I met her,
- 1:42:55Speaker 4: and now this is our second cat, and they're both
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: almost exactly the same. They like little dogs, only they're
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: not gonna get to be these huge things that need
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: to be like walked and all the work that goes
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: through them. They're just companions, all right again at the
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: same time. Then it ends, and I can't deal with
- 1:43:15Speaker 4: that emotionally. If I'm a baby. That's a hard thing.
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: It is all right. I will take a quick well,
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: we'll take a break. Pulse Foods here for you. Then
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: we'll wrap it up because we're getting to the end.
- 1:43:27Speaker 5: But we'll see good stuff after the break though, cock
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: stick around.
- 1:43:32Speaker 25: Isn't it time to get exactly what you want?

- 1:44:05Speaker 6: wanted to thank my most trusted Game Day teammate, Tostitos,
- 1:44:10Speaker 6: as I recall the last minute grocery runs in late
- 1:44:14Speaker 6: night dishwashing, the salty defeats and spicy victories I realize
- 1:44:20Speaker 6: it was all thanks to my teammate Tostitos. It was
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: always you Tostitos. Team up with Toastitos, the official chip
- 1:44:30Speaker 6: and Dip of the New England Patriots.
- 1:44:35Speaker 26: And we're back with another quick Thursday edition of the
- 1:44:38Speaker 26: PU Halftime Show. I am joined by Alex reoccurring guests
- 1:44:42Speaker 26: as always.
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: Gotta get used to me.
- 1:44:44Speaker 26: Wow, guys, there is no trivia today because I did
- 1:44:48Speaker 26: this pretty last minute.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: So you know what happens.
- 1:44:50Speaker 10: Yeahs came to my five minutes ago. It was like,
- 1:44:52Speaker 10: can you come down and record with me? And I
- 1:44:54Speaker 10: was like, no, I'm kind of busy, and then he
- 1:44:57Speaker 10: was like please, So here we are.
- 1:44:58Speaker 26: We're like, also running out of PAP trivia, so I'll
- 1:45:00Speaker 26: do a deep dive into that. But anyways, we're gonna
- 1:45:02Speaker 26: start off with a couple start bench cuts like we
- 1:45:05Speaker 26: always do, So Alex Start bench Cut.
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: I haven't done one of these in a minute, Christian.
- 1:45:11Speaker 26: McCaffrey, Isaiah Pacheco, and Jamineer Gibbs. That's the only one
- 1:45:15Speaker 26: for the NFC. I haven't for the n FC title game.
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: Start McCaffrey.
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: Mm hmm, it's tough.
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: Start McCaffrey bench Pa Checko. I guess Scott Gibbs.
- 1:45:32Speaker 26: It's tough though, Yeah, I'm doing I am starting my
- 1:45:35Speaker 26: my camp. Camp buddy Christian McCaffrey. Good friends with him,
- 1:45:40Speaker 26: Isaiah Pacheco benching him because he runs like a kid
- 1:45:44Speaker 26: trying on his sneakers and Gibbs. It's tough though, because
- 1:45:47Speaker 26: he's nasty.
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:45:48Speaker 26: Number two, we got some halftime performers from the past
- 1:45:50Speaker 26: three years. All right, we got Usher, who's this year
- 1:45:53Speaker 26: hasn't gone yet, yep, Rihanna and Doctor Dre.
- 1:45:58Speaker 8: Oh.
- 1:45:58Speaker 24: I love the Doctor Dre.
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: That one was just I'm surprised you didn't have the
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: Shakira jal one on this. I just did three okay, okay,
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: m okay, start Doctor Trey.
- 1:46:11Speaker 10: I thought that was so fun, and then just everyone
- 1:46:13Speaker 10: he brought out it was so nostalgic. I have to
- 1:46:17Speaker 10: bench Rihanna, which feels blasphemous.
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: Yeah, she was good too, And then you just don't know.
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: What us for yet.
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: Usher. I'm sorry.
- 1:46:24Speaker 10: I know Usher is an absolutely talented performer. I know
- 1:46:28Speaker 10: he's gonna shut it down, but I'm just I have
- 1:46:30Speaker 10: a bias to Rihanna.
- 1:46:31Speaker 26: We'll circle back on this in a week to see
- 1:46:35Speaker 26: what happened, and then this one, which segues into our
- 1:46:37Speaker 26: next topic, The Wags. Taylor Swift Kristen used is that
- 1:46:43Speaker 26: her first name for sick? Yep, Christen and Olivia Coppo
- 1:46:47Speaker 26: the wags.
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: Of the Super Bowl. Yeah, oh we're leaving some out, sorry, Britt, but.
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: Yeah, we thought you were going to be a mutual.
- 1:46:54Speaker 10: Okay, So now I could go about this a couple
- 1:46:58Speaker 10: of ways, like from the perspective of like a player
- 1:47:02Speaker 10: dating one of these women, or just me. Yeah, okay,
- 1:47:09Speaker 10: you guys know I'm swifty, but I'm not a swifty swifty.
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: I'm not one of the crazy ones.
- 1:47:16Speaker 10: Okay, I am going to start Taylor Swift because you
- 1:47:22Speaker 10: have to. I'll have people picketing outside of this office.
- 1:47:28Speaker 10: But also, like I would be stupid not too. She's
- 1:47:30Speaker 10: the only billionaire in this category as far as I know,
- 1:47:34Speaker 10: Between Colplo and Kristen. This gets difficult for me because,
- 1:47:39Speaker 10: I mean, copol used to date Amadola and she's she's
- 1:47:44Speaker 10: a Rhode Island girl, But I don't know, there's like
- 1:47:48Speaker 10: full disclosure. I think Olivia Copo is one of the
- 1:47:50Speaker 10: most beautiful human beings on the planet, right Now, however,
- 1:47:54Speaker 10: I something about her online presence is just really annoying.
- 1:47:58Speaker 10: I think she's really annoying. I think Kristen. I mean,
- 1:48:00Speaker 10: Kristen just signed a licensing deal for merchandising with the NFL.
- 1:48:06Speaker 10: And this isn't just like she's sketching up some stuff,
- 1:48:08Speaker 10: like she's sitting there sewing these outfits. She's so creative,
- 1:48:12Speaker 10: she's so talented. She seems like a really smart lady
- 1:48:15Speaker 10: with her good head on her shoulders. So as crazy
- 1:48:18Speaker 10: as it sounds, I'm cutting Miss Universe. I'm cutting the
- 1:48:21Speaker 10: former Miss Universe Olivia Copplo, and I'm benching Kristen starting
- 1:48:26Speaker 10: Taylor Swift.
- 1:48:26Speaker 26: All right, you're ready for this? Yes, Swift, He's don't
- 1:48:29Speaker 26: come at me. I'm starting Colpo. Know she's she's lived
- 1:48:34Speaker 26: out a New England girls dream.
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: She really I respect that hustle.
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: How many Super Bowls did she go to with Danny?
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: One or two?
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: I think too.
- 1:48:44Speaker 26: And so I'm benching us check okay, and I'm cotting
- 1:48:48Speaker 26: Swift and listen, I respect get it from a guy's person.
- 1:48:52Speaker 4: This is why I'm.
- 1:48:53Speaker 26: Cutting Swift because she she hasn't earned full wag status
- 1:48:56Speaker 26: to me yet she's still new to the game. This
- 1:48:58Speaker 26: is her first season.
- 1:48:59Speaker 10: That's true, but thinks other wags are jealous that she's
- 1:49:02Speaker 10: just stolen the show or do you think they're happy
- 1:49:04Speaker 10: that she's helped like elevate.
- 1:49:06Speaker 26: That if she takes one picture with one of them,
- 1:49:10Speaker 26: it's it's over.
- 1:49:11Speaker 10: She like that.
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: That's what's crazy, is she kind of put Kristin.
- 1:49:14Speaker 10: I don't want to say she put Kristen on the map,
- 1:49:16Speaker 10: because Kristen was Kristen was making outfits for Simone Biles
- 1:49:20Speaker 10: for herself, like she already had notoriety. But when Taylor
- 1:49:25Speaker 10: wore her puffer to her custom puffer jacket, like basically
- 1:49:30Speaker 10: sealed the deal for Kristen to sign that deal with
- 1:49:31Speaker 10: the NFL.
- 1:49:32Speaker 26: I mean it's a special one again for the Super Bowl,
- 1:49:35Speaker 26: like Kristin.
- 1:49:36Speaker 10: This is a message for Kristen and Kristen only congratulations
- 1:49:40Speaker 10: on your new line. I would love to help you
- 1:49:43Speaker 10: in any way I can with any Patriots gear you have.
- 1:49:45Speaker 10: I can just kind of stage an imprompto photo shoot
- 1:49:49Speaker 10: with Tamara, myself and our team photographers. I just have
- 1:49:52Speaker 10: one request, please make some clothing in your line, like
- 1:49:56Speaker 10: jackets and stuff. But I can't be wearing players numbers
- 1:50:00Speaker 10: out there, so non player just the logo because it's
- 1:50:05Speaker 10: it's weird if I'm out there and like, I don't know.
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: So uh yeah, all right.
- 1:50:14Speaker 26: So before we're getting told to wrap up, it's Super
- 1:50:17Speaker 26: Bowl prop that season, So I want to go through
- 1:50:19Speaker 26: four quick. Taylor Swift, just tell me how ridiculous it
- 1:50:23Speaker 26: is because we're getting told to wrap up. Number one,
- 1:50:25Speaker 26: how many times will she be shown on the on
- 1:50:27Speaker 26: the the show on the camera over under is one
- 1:50:31Speaker 26: and a half times?
- 1:50:33Speaker 12: Over?
- 1:50:33Speaker 26: Okay, agreed? Second, will Swift and Kelsey appear together in
- 1:50:37Speaker 26: a commercial?
- 1:50:40Speaker 22: Mm?
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: I don't know if Taylor, I say no. I don't
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: think Taylor is a big commercial girl.
- 1:50:44Speaker 26: I think no too, all right, And these are the
- 1:50:46Speaker 26: last two and they're third. Well, the couple announced their
- 1:50:48Speaker 26: first pregnancy at the Super Bowl.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: I mean.
- 1:50:55Speaker 10: From the way, you'd probably only do this if you're
- 1:50:56Speaker 10: a winning team. Yeah, so there's a lot of guys
- 1:51:00Speaker 10: on these teams. Yeah, I say yeah.
- 1:51:02Speaker 26: And then the last one I'll do is will they
- 1:51:05Speaker 26: be shown kissing after the game? That's also winner losing one?
- 1:51:07Speaker 10: Yes?
- 1:51:08Speaker 26: Yeah, hard, yes, all right, all right, you might have
- 1:51:10Speaker 26: some more props next week. Alex, thank you for joining,
- 1:51:14Speaker 26: and let's get back to the show.
- 1:51:18Speaker 27: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, no
- 1:51:23Speaker 27: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:51:27Speaker 27: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:51:31Speaker 27: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: And now great moments in.
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: History.
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: I believe they were not in pads, right, l Yeah,
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: pads which you always ask every Wednesday, and then finally
- 1:51:49Speaker 4: the answer changed and you weren't here.
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: So do you think they will not be in pads
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: all week? Or will they be in pads today?
- 1:51:55Speaker 28: I think they were in in in pads, but not
- 1:51:59Speaker 28: like full pads yesterday. I think it was light pads,
- 1:52:02Speaker 28: but I have to double check on that. That's even
- 1:52:04Speaker 28: better because.
- 1:52:06Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:52:08Speaker 24: Now I like now I'm doubting myself a little bit.
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: We noticed too, in the locker room, Mac had on
- 1:52:12Speaker 5: one of the scuba hats, so it seemed like he's trying.
- 1:52:14Speaker 28: To Yeah, a lot of the players, that's true, Like
- 1:52:18Speaker 28: if you were here, you would have asked these questions
- 1:52:20Speaker 28: and we would have told the listeners about these things.
- 1:52:22Speaker 4: You feel attacked. I asked them what the move was
- 1:52:25Speaker 4: supposed to do. Oh no, he did. He asked all
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: the requisite questions. We were upset that you weren't here
- 1:52:29Speaker 4: to answer.
- 1:52:30Speaker 24: He had the answer.
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, we would have gotten to this point.
- 1:52:33Speaker 28: Ab A lot of the players were wearing like sweatshirts
- 1:52:37Speaker 28: or layers underneath their their their practice outfits because the heat.
- 1:52:43Speaker 24: They want to they want to be hot, be hot
- 1:52:46Speaker 24: because of Miami.
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: Gotcha. Huh, that's it.
- 1:52:50Speaker 24: That's your recap of yesterday's I.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: Wonder if that translates, because when you were in Miami,
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: the heat comes from the sun right outside rather than
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: coming internally. That's that's a different type a hot.
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: Yeah, where did he come from? Another places?
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: That's another great moment from Hey are you counting down

- 1:53:34Speaker 1: the New England Patriots.
- 1:53:36Speaker 5: And Paul Studio during the pregame preseason.
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: I think it's Oh my bob, oh oh my bob,
- 1:53:44Speaker 4: Oh my bob, oh.
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: My, oh my, oh my.
- 1:53:51Speaker 3: This is why we brought you. This is why I
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: brought you guys back for the second.
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: Right right, Oh my, Bob, my bob.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: Here we go. Not good?
- 1:54:06Speaker 12: What are we doing?
- 1:54:07Speaker 23: Yeah?
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: All right, as you're getting reset there, Freddy, I'll just
- 1:54:11Speaker 4: really quickly, I'll recap last week for everybody the divisional
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: round across the board. Everybody went one and one, picking
- 1:54:21Speaker 4: the actual game itself with the spread. Evan went to
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: and oh everybody else went one and one. So Freddy
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: dominant has clinched the regular season the postseason title ten
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: and two, followed by Paul and Evan at eight and four,
- 1:54:38Speaker 4: Mike at seven and five, and Alex six and six
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: with the spread not clinched yet, fred eight and four,
- 1:54:48Speaker 4: followed by Paul and Evan at seven and five, and
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: Mike and Alex at four and eight. Gar, So you
- 1:54:54Speaker 4: have you have a one game lead over Evan and
- 1:54:57Speaker 4: I with the spread, but you have clinched the the other.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: Picks so good super Bowl. So we're not going to
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: do our Super Bowl pick?
- 1:55:03Speaker 4: Well yeah, next we would have hurried.
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: Yeah, we got more information to be gleaned.
- 1:55:08Speaker 4: We can't.
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: Yeah, piece of time.
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: I really screwed that up.
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: They really did they?
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: Yeah they did.
- 1:55:12Speaker 4: The timing off a sandwich.
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: Wasn't free advertising?
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: Some emails that came in rich in New York City.
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: My wife and I ever retired racing greyhound. We're on
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: our second greyhound. They don't run around. They sleep all
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: day and barely move when you take them for a walk.
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: I highly recommend adopting one. So they're like, I've had
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: it with running.
- 1:55:32Speaker 4: Yeah, that's weird. You just look at them like.
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: You wish you were sprinting right now, don't you dog?
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: You know they don't. So it did used to sprint,
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: like when you go to the park and it would
- 1:55:42Speaker 4: and it would always sprint an oval. You mean like
- 1:55:44Speaker 4: the park the park that park, Glendale Park.
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: Uh, what park you're talking about, not like a regular
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: park like Joe from Hull. I wonder if ron Uh
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: says Fred not hating humans. I wonder if Ronald Robinson
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: hates humans. Thanks for all the fun moments this season.
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: I'm excited to see what the off season bring. Okay,
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: that's it all right, Jack and ann Arbor. The golden
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: rule for how a football coach should use his players
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: is if you've got a horse, ride him. Yeah. I
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: would agree with that, Ben Manchester, says Daniels, because having
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: watched daniels tape, I fully get the caution in him
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: and why it may not translate to the NFL, where
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: he doesn't have elite weapons, but what if what it
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: would also give me his hope. He has the arm
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: and the legs to score from literally anywhere on the field.
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: The Patriots could be backed up in their own half,
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: and I'd have hope that on any play he could
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: rip it deep down the field or take off with
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: his legs and beat everyone, because he's that damn fast
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: as a runner, and that to me would be exciting.
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: Every single play something could happen. Not just can we
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: hit the eight yard dink to pick up a first down,
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: which what I've mostly thought for the last four years,
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: whoever it's been quarterback. I can also see a chance
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: he could benefit from a speech sturt to open the
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: field like Thornton. If he could catch or rekindle a
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: relationship with Booty if he hadn't gambled his way into trouble.
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: I get the caution on him, though. It's an enthralling
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: off season.
- 1:57:12Speaker 4: Yeah, and I agree with that theory of the excitement
- 1:57:15Speaker 4: that a guy like that will provide. Ultimately, his success
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: will depend on whether or not he can hit the
- 1:57:22Speaker 4: eight yard dink pass on third down, because justin Fields
- 1:57:26Speaker 4: gives you all of that right take the lamps. He
- 1:57:28Speaker 4: can take that. He could take it to the length
- 1:57:31Speaker 4: of the field any playing, but he doesn't do the
- 1:57:34Speaker 4: third knee completions often enough.
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: One more called Trey's in Memphis. What's up Trey?
- 1:57:39Speaker 17: Hey guys, how's it going all right?
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: Trey?
- 1:57:42Speaker 13: Okay?
- 1:57:43Speaker 17: I will listening early on in the show, and you
- 1:57:46Speaker 17: guys were talking about you made want to move on
- 1:57:49Speaker 17: from I think you have to be careful well how
- 1:57:54Speaker 17: these team is carrying his sit up now with who
- 1:57:56Speaker 17: you trade? And I don't think you know you move
- 1:57:58Speaker 17: a guy like Judah on I mean thirty one years
- 1:58:00Speaker 17: only to be thirty two later on this year, and
- 1:58:03Speaker 17: I think he he still has some juice now. But
- 1:58:06Speaker 17: I mean, so as far as moving the player, I
- 1:58:09Speaker 17: would well I'll say, you know, Jonathan Jones, I mean,
- 1:58:12Speaker 17: but you know, you move a guy like Judaan, he's
- 1:58:15Speaker 17: an alf a male. I don't think you want to
- 1:58:17Speaker 17: do that. And as far as the franchise tag goes,
- 1:58:20Speaker 17: I say, you throw the tag on Henry. I don't
- 1:58:23Speaker 17: think it's going to cost that much. And you know
- 1:58:27Speaker 17: there's pretty much gonna sumb up my call.
- 1:58:29Speaker 5: All right, thanks appreciate, it's a good call. That's a
- 1:58:32Speaker 5: good call. Something to consider with Henry for sure.
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that I did rather see if I
- 1:58:37Speaker 4: can work out a deal with him.
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: I do think, Uh, Judan's question is this contract and
- 1:58:42Speaker 5: you know, didn't they take money last year from this
- 1:58:44Speaker 5: year put it into last year and last year so
- 1:58:47Speaker 5: you want more?
- 1:58:48Speaker 4: And you know it's it's this.
- 1:58:49Speaker 5: I mean, I would at least anticipate some kind of
- 1:58:53Speaker 5: holding or contract negotiation of some sort if he is
- 1:58:56Speaker 5: going to play here, and if not, then I mean
- 1:58:58Speaker 5: that could be impetus to move him too.
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: And if he does play, I think what's sort of
- 1:59:03Speaker 4: all in agreement. We don't think they're going to be
- 1:59:05Speaker 4: a great team next year, even barring something unforeseen like
- 1:59:09Speaker 4: Jaden Daniels at three and he's c J. Stroud. Yeah,
- 1:59:14Speaker 4: then what then you losen him for nothing? He'll be
- 1:59:16Speaker 4: a free agent, right, yeah, that's I think that's why
- 1:59:20Speaker 4: you pick a guy like that. A. He can get something,
- 1:59:23Speaker 4: and B he's not part of your long term plan.
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: All right, that's going to be it for this edition
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: of Patriots Unfiltered. Everybody enjoy their football free weekend, if
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: that's possible. Excuse me. We'll be back on Tuesday. We'll

- 1:59:45Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, but we'll see, all right, see you then.
