Transcript
- 0:00Hello there. It's time for most things
- 0:04Kenobi. I prefer all things Kenobi but I
- 0:07suppose that's not the Jedi way as long as it's not all things
- 0:11Anakin. Hi everyone.
- 0:26Welcome to another episode of most things Kenobi.
- 0:28A podcast about A Wan Kenobi and all things Star Wars.
- 0:32I'm your host Leanne and I'm your host Lauren and this week,
- 0:35interesting topic, one that we don't completely understand.
- 0:39Even after doing significant amount of research.
- 0:42Yeah, we're talking about the wills and wh I ll s the quills.
- 0:55You know, what if you will? But Wills let's talk about the
- 0:58wheels wheels. That's so funny.
- 1:02It's a deep topic and I'm not like I was telling you, I'm not
- 1:05entirely sure. I truly understand it.
- 1:08Yeah. When we picked this last week, I
- 1:10don't think either of us realized what we were getting
- 1:12into. No, that's typically how it
- 1:16goes. But we're just having a
- 1:19conversation, a little case study on the wills.
- 1:23And actually, if people understand it more, please chime
- 1:26in after the after you listen to this episode, because we're Do
- 1:30it as far as I can tell. It's a George.
- 1:32Lucas original, like original original?
- 1:35Yeah. Like from the first script you
- 1:37ever wrote. Yeah, I didn't the script that
- 1:40got tossed and it realized that at all and like I don't know
- 1:44where this is from like what source this comes from.
- 1:48But the fact that the whole Skywalker Saga is actually R2D2
- 1:54replaying. The events of the Skywalker life
- 1:57100 years after the battle of Yavin.
- 2:00To one of these keepers of the wills.
- 2:02You know, I never heard that before, I fucking love that.
- 2:08I always had a head Canon that a long time ago.
- 2:12In a galaxy far, far away. Dot-dot-dot is actually R2-D2.
- 2:16Well you're right. I mean that is what it is.
- 2:19Yeah. I guess George Lucas confirms.
- 2:22This will. Thank me.
- 2:23Crazy. Well he's the only one that's
- 2:26seen it all and hasn't had his memory wiped.
- 2:29Yeah. Yeah, it's so funny which is my
- 2:32God. It's kind of sad though.
- 2:34It is. It does make me sad and also
- 2:37like skeptical that a Droid could survive that long because
- 2:40I don't own any piece of technology that would survive
- 2:42more than a hundred years. But whatever that this is the
- 2:45future we're talking about. So maybe the fact that R2 is the
- 2:50hell robot that survives all this stuff so funny.
- 2:56Well, there's a lot of interesting things that That I
- 3:00came across when like, studying this, for this episode, about
- 3:04the wills and where it all originated with George.
- 3:07Lucas and how, in fact, he wanted to write, he had like a
- 3:11whole Journal, hmm about the wills, which was, It was kind of
- 3:15not, they didn't buy it, so he scrapped it.
- 3:17And then that's how we came up with Star Wars basically.
- 3:20Yeah. But he never truly abandoned the
- 3:23idea of the wheels and of course, then we get the episodes
- 3:26in the Clone Wars, you know, through Dave filoni via Joy
- 3:30Lucas. Yeah.
- 3:32So it's definitely like in the background at all times which I
- 3:35do like because if that was his original thing I'm glad he kept
- 3:38it kind of inner woven in a way or in some form since the
- 3:42beginning. Well, it makes me think he must
- 3:45have been working towards that sequel Trilogy that he had
- 3:49planned to make because yeah, we see in Clone Wars, right?
- 3:53As it got canceled, they were starting to get into talking
- 3:56about the wills, which is crazy and then it gets cancelled.
- 3:59So to me, That seems like he was, he was starting to set it
- 4:02up, you know? Because I guess there's there's
- 4:05some book called, like, the Star Wars archives.
- 4:08Right? Isn't that me?
- 4:10And so, like in there, he discusses his plan for the
- 4:14sequel Trilogy, and it was supposed to be diving into the
- 4:18spiritual stuff, like the wills themselves.
- 4:21Right isn't that? That was his like original plan.
- 4:24Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:25It's the Journal of the wills that he wrote in 1973 it.
- 4:30Story of Mace windy. Which I kind of love the name.
- 4:37Mace windy better than Mace Windu.
- 4:40That's you know in the original radio drama Luke has a friend
- 4:45named Wendy there you go it all kind of wraps together just he
- 4:49just like keeps all these little references and if he doesn't use
- 4:52it here, he decides to use it there.
- 4:54Like it's, it's so funny and only us crazy.
- 4:57Obsessed people find find all the connections because we're
- 5:02not true. Truly, there's so many
- 5:04Connections in fact, and most of them show up in the Clone Wars
- 5:08series, which is not a surprise. Because Dave filoni worked with
- 5:11George, Lucas. Yeah, to bring about some of the
- 5:14things that we learned in the Clone Wars and in Rebels.
- 5:17So, it continued into the rebels series just to give people a
- 5:20background. This is a direct quote, from
- 5:24George, Lucas himself via Star Wars.
- 5:26The annotated screenplays. He says, quote originally, I was
- 5:30trying to have the story be told by somebody else.
- 5:33Else. There was somebody watching this
- 5:34whole story and recording it. Somebody probably wiser than the
- 5:38Mortal players in the actual events.
- 5:40I eventually dropped this idea and the concept behind the
- 5:42wheels turned into the force, but the wheels became part of
- 5:46this, massive amount of notes, quote background information
- 5:49that I used for the scripts, the stories were actually taken from
- 5:53the Journal of the wills. And so, basically the wills, as
- 5:57we know, them are just kind of spiritual keepers of the past,
- 6:01the present, and the future. Would that be a good way to sum
- 6:04it up? The wills themselves are not
- 6:08that but the Guardians of the wills are the ones who keep the
- 6:12journals. Yes.
- 6:14My bad. Yeah.
- 6:15So the wheels are connected to the midi-chlorians.
- 6:19Correct? Yeah.
- 6:19So that's the shit that really surprised me.
- 6:22Basically, what George Lucas set up the wills and the force they
- 6:27are basically They're parasites, like it really freaks me out a
- 6:32little bit there, like a parasitic infection, that, like,
- 6:36controls quote. Your destiny, even though
- 6:38they're calling them symbiotic because they're as opposed to a
- 6:41parasite, a symbiote, you know, you, you're able to like live in
- 6:46harmony together and help each other, but the wills are
- 6:51microscopic organisms. I don't know, but they live off
- 6:55of and live with and communicate through the midi-chlorians.
- 7:00To the living beings that they're attached to correct.
- 7:05And so like the and the more you have, the more power you have
- 7:08through the force if you choose. Yeah.
- 7:11Yeah. Because some people, they're
- 7:12saying could ignore their quote, Destiny if they want it to, but
- 7:16if you're opening yourself to listening to the will of the
- 7:19force, they're saying, the will of the force is equivalent to
- 7:23The Wills whil LS. This is so complicated, very
- 7:27complicated, it's insane. I like the more I started
- 7:31researching this, I was like, what the fuck?
- 7:34It's a lot man, it's a lot. It's crazy.
- 7:39The to canonical references, we have through the Skywalker.
- 7:43Saga is first, in the Clone Wars episode where Yoda communicates
- 7:48with the priestesses or the shamans of the wills.
- 7:51Yeah, The Keeper of the wills. And then again in the
- 7:56novelization of the force awakens by Alan Dean Foster,
- 8:00which I thought was interesting because had they run with it.
- 8:02Like you said, George? Lucas has plans for the sequel
- 8:05Trilogy, much different. Right.
- 8:07It would have explored the wills even more and I wish they would
- 8:10have gone. That direction would have been
- 8:12so much more interesting. Yes, it could have really lended
- 8:15to raise story because she was obviously very big.
- 8:19She had a lot of will shed a lot of wheels and she had a lot of
- 8:21midi-chlorians. Yeah.
- 8:23If you follow this, Route of thinking yeah well it's shoot
- 8:27like Leia was supposed to be the chosen one of the sequel Trilogy
- 8:31and I guess Ray would have been Anakin's granddaughter I think
- 8:35something there was made so much more sense.
- 8:38It was a plan for a granddaughter who is like very
- 8:41strong in the force who kind of like developed into Ray, I
- 8:44guess. But like man would that have
- 8:46been and like they're saying, Luke is rebuilding the Jedi
- 8:49Order, while Leia is the new Chancellor and like, whoa, I
- 8:53would Is so interested to see that story but it's so far from
- 8:58what we got really is. Yeah, yeah, it's it would be so
- 9:02cool. I just, you know, to Envision
- 9:04something different to see something different much
- 9:06different. Well, maybe that's what filoni
- 9:09is working on with all these shoes.
- 9:11Maybe he's still finding a way to bring George's sequels to
- 9:16life somehow, right? That would be very interesting
- 9:19to see, but yeah, I don't know. This was like, it was not what I
- 9:23was expecting. Affecting I really wasn't.
- 9:25I was to have it be more like microorganisms is opposed to,
- 9:29like, a more like spiritual thing.
- 9:31It was, it's kind of weird to think that all the people who
- 9:34have quote, the force are being controlled by a microorganism
- 9:39within their body, as opposed to, like an external Source
- 9:43outside of their body, which is kind of how we think of God, you
- 9:46know, and like the universe in that we live in a lot of times,
- 9:50we think of an omniscient or omnipresent, Spiritual force
- 9:55that can come into our body, but like is lives externally.
- 9:59This is like the opposite of that, where it's like, it lives
- 10:01inside you and then, you can affect things outside of you
- 10:07through its influence. But I don't know, man.
- 10:11It's not what I expected at all. Well then we have a the Temple
- 10:15of the wills, which is on Jetta. Hmm.
- 10:18So there's a whole ass Temple that the Jedi would go to.
- 10:23It was it was considered Sacred by the Jedi.
- 10:25Of course, the planet of Jetta was a big Jedi.
- 10:29Yeah, Centric. I'm not sure how to phrase my
- 10:33head revered. He was that ever hybrid Temple,
- 10:35right? So, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:38Which we know from Rogue one, they were basically the empire
- 10:41was harvesting kyber crystals from there, it's really crazy.
- 10:49Well in that. So like within that, right?
- 10:50There's the there are two parts of that, right?
- 10:53It's like Guardians of the will and then the Disciples of the
- 10:57will is that, right? Yeah, remembering that right?
- 11:01Yeah, it's so like One, felt the force, and one used the force,
- 11:08but they use different. They were like different.
- 11:11I don't know. It's so fun confusing and then
- 11:14there's another, they called The Church of the force, right is,
- 11:17it's just like, right starts to spiral into this huge.
- 11:23I don't even know. I mean, you can kind of see why
- 11:27it didn't really take off. It was a little complicated.
- 11:30Yeah. You need to boil it down to
- 11:32something and he boiled it down to Star Wars and the force
- 11:37itself. Yeah, which keeps it which
- 11:39simple. I would love to learn more about
- 11:45the Temple of the Khyber and like Jetta the Disciples of the
- 11:50wheels. Like all that stuff is really
- 11:51fascinating to me and I guess they've kind of started making
- 11:55material for a but really not much.
- 11:57There's like I think there's a graphic novel of it and then
- 12:00there's References to it in Rogue one.
- 12:03And then there is a comic where Luke goes back to Jed.
- 12:07I think it's called ashes of Jetta but that doesn't go in
- 12:11depth into the history of the what Jetta City really was and
- 12:16like what the spiritual part of it was.
- 12:18So it's like it's almost too big for even Disney to tackle
- 12:22because it's such a complex idea.
- 12:25It really is. I mean, we were getting close to
- 12:28it again in the episode of Clone Wars where Order goes in search
- 12:32of the wills and speaks to them. And Qui gonn ends up telling
- 12:36him, like, if you can communicate in this fashion
- 12:39after death. You if you communicate with the
- 12:41wills or the shaman of the wills, then you can learn to
- 12:44communicate after death. Yes, which kind of, I mean,
- 12:47that's why I was so confused in the Kenobi series because Qui
- 12:50gonn showed up as a corporeal figure, right?
- 12:54We know that it's voice only unless you learn more and
- 12:58Qui-Gon never got to complete his studies which is why Why he
- 13:01should have remained just a voice.
- 13:04So people are saying that because Yoda learned from the
- 13:08wills that he was able to help Qui-Gon continue learning after
- 13:13death. That's how he was eventually
- 13:15able to like manifest a body. Okay?
- 13:17I can I can buy that but that's a stretch still right?
- 13:20Like have they actually shown that anywhere?
- 13:23There's a lot of references like a lot of stuff I read was on
- 13:26Wikipedia so like I didn't go through the annotations to see
- 13:30like what there Source material was for all of this information
- 13:33at like I didn't have time honestly because there's just so
- 13:36much you know, in these articles they're saying that Qui-Gon was
- 13:40able to continue studying after death because he at least had a
- 13:43Consciousness and I guess that's all you need to keep learning
- 13:46and Yoda was able to like learn physically affecting the real
- 13:52world even though he was in the spiritual plane.
- 13:55Like he had his gibber. Stick that he hit Luke in the
- 13:58head with all. Yes.
- 14:00And he liked was a able to make a bolt of lightning come down
- 14:03and hit that forestry that Luke had on act two.
- 14:06So it's like, yeah, they were saying that that was new for
- 14:10ghosts. I mean, Obi-Wan did come in and
- 14:12sit down on a tree and returning to did I but did yeah.
- 14:19I don't know. It's really interesting because
- 14:21then the in these articles they also say Anakin becomes a force
- 14:25ghost and bend solo becomes a force ghost which I didn't
- 14:29remember seeing that. Anywhere.
- 14:31But maybe it's an adult, we don't see him.
- 14:33Maybe it's an old. See that is it?
- 14:35That could be in a book again novelization.
- 14:37Apparently. So like if you are a good person
- 14:41you can just like if you're really selfless, apparently you
- 14:44can just like learn it through death.
- 14:46I don't know. That was really a far stretch.
- 14:49What does that explain? How Anakin became a force ghost,
- 14:52his Redemption and being the chosen one I guess was, I mean I
- 14:56guess yeah. Because okay, on.
- 14:59On the topic of the chosen, one, the Novelization that we get for
- 15:03the force awakens, actually talks about the prophecy,
- 15:07through with the idea of the wills.
- 15:12The first quote, this is this is from the first draft of the
- 15:18Journal of the wills. Okay.
- 15:19So follow if you will it says quote and in the time of
- 15:23greatest despair, they'll show there shall come a savior and he
- 15:27shall be known as the son of the sons.
- 15:29So Sun Sol And of the sons as UNS.
- 15:34Hmm. And so, like you could say of
- 15:36the twin Suns of Tatooine it just.
- 15:39Um, yeah. But I mean, you could also say
- 15:42Luke as that as well because he becomes a savior also from
- 15:45there. Yeah.
- 15:47And is born and then Tatooine come on that board there that we
- 15:51get there and then we get the novelization by Ellen.
- 15:54Dean Foster with a quote, from the Journal of the wills in the
- 15:58novelization of the force awakens.
- 16:00And it says, As quote first comes the day, then comes the
- 16:04night. After the darkness shines
- 16:06through the light, the difference they say is only made
- 16:09right by the resolving of gray through refined Jedi site.
- 16:15Wow sounds like a mannequin to me little bit.
- 16:18Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Right.
- 16:21Because while I was researching this, I wanted to know what
- 16:23Anakin's because he has the highest medical Orion count of
- 16:27all time. So I started looking into it and
- 16:30it's tied to To the Grand experiment.
- 16:33Did you start reading about that at all when you were doing any
- 16:36of this research? No.
- 16:37Tell me more. So, the grand experiment is like
- 16:39a reference to dark, Darth Plagueis, pledges or Plagueis.
- 16:44I feel like I say Plagueis. Okay?
- 16:46I'm never really sure how to pronounce it, Plagueis.
- 16:49It's not as he's ugly. It's all I know.
- 16:53Why the long face Darth Plagueis?
- 16:58Doesn't he have like the longest face and I think so.
- 17:00Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:01He's so hideous. Anyway, has nothing to do with
- 17:03what you're about to say. No.
- 17:04But I like it. So he decided to do this
- 17:09experiment with city as they were working together because
- 17:11cities was his Apprentice. So they were trying to create
- 17:14like a sentient being exerting, their will on the force and
- 17:18midi-chlorians to create life. Their own Perfect Tool and like
- 17:23that makes sense manipulate the force, right?
- 17:26Yes. The wills did not like that
- 17:30because it goes against their plan for living beings living in
- 17:35harmony. It Rose the universe out of
- 17:38balance. So they in response, created
- 17:42Anakin Skywalker as like a countermeasure to what Darth
- 17:46Plagueis was doing. So, you know, this is
- 17:51interesting and it can has no father, you know, he's like
- 17:54right. He was an Immaculate Conception
- 17:55from the wills and the midi-chlorians in as a big Fu to
- 18:03their little experiment yet which ironically, they End up
- 18:07getting to use. Anyway.
- 18:09In the end they end up in the nip elating and using him as
- 18:12their tool. Yeah.
- 18:13At least Darth Sidious Palpatine.
- 18:16Exactly. So, but it's like the Oedipus
- 18:19complex, right? Of like, yeah, he is destined to
- 18:22kill his father so he says, well I don't want to kill my father
- 18:25so he leaves and goes on this, you know, Odyssey and by
- 18:30returning and like being on his Odyssey.
- 18:32He fulfills the destiny of accidentally killing his father,
- 18:35so correct. That's what.
- 18:37Ins Oedipus. Is it's the same thing.
- 18:39It's like the Sith wanted to create this being and the wills.
- 18:43Yeah, didn't want that as fate and destiny, so they created
- 18:47Anakin and then Sidious thinks that he's getting what he
- 18:50wanted. Anyway, he's got stool that he
- 18:52can use, which ultimately, by fulfilling that forced Anakin to
- 18:57go the full circle of being both light and dark, and returning to
- 19:00the light and bringing balance to the force as like a gray
- 19:04area. Like balance, just like the A
- 19:07quote said, exactly. So it's like, I thought that was
- 19:11very interesting and it ties into how the wills and the at
- 19:16least the wills, the priestesses of the wills that we see in
- 19:19Clone Wars. They talk about how fear and the
- 19:22dark side are actually important because it's like the light is
- 19:28important. But what you and I always talk
- 19:30about, you have to have the dark to balance the light balance
- 19:33solutely, isn't the like the absence of Goodness, you have to
- 19:37have both and the wills understood that.
- 19:40Well, you can't, you can't understand one without the
- 19:43other. You can't realize what one is
- 19:46without knowing the opposite of it, right?
- 19:49Isn't it weird? We have to Define things by
- 19:51knowing the opposite of what it would be.
- 19:53It's so interesting. It is that also makes me think
- 19:58about how Yoda in that episode for Clone Wars.
- 20:01He sent to the Dark Island or whatever where he has to go and
- 20:04face his inner Darkness. Yes.
- 20:07That's really an important step because you have to realize that
- 20:11in order to cross over to the light, to get to that other side
- 20:15to fulfill it. Exactly.
- 20:17I kind of love this because this is the overriding thing theme of
- 20:21Star Wars. Anyways, to overcome the
- 20:23darkness, to make your choice to choose, the light to choose the
- 20:27good to, you know, the selfless thing.
- 20:29Yeah. In the end and we see that
- 20:31through all the protagonist. Hmm.
- 20:34That is Luke and Leia. That's Anakin.
- 20:37I mean we see it a thousand times with Obi-Wan.
- 20:40It's been so low. It's Ray, mmm, you know, it's
- 20:44all of them. You have to acknowledge that you
- 20:46do have both light and dark inside you.
- 20:49It's the choices that you make and like, which we've always
- 20:53reiterated on, this show is the important thing about Star Wars
- 20:56is this about your choice. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:59And it's true in real life, which is probably why so many
- 21:02people feel really connected to Star Wars because it is like
- 21:05it's like removed enough. Real life that we can actually
- 21:08like take lessons from it and unbiased way but it really
- 21:11applies to real life in a really kind of beautiful way.
- 21:16Did you read about the been do and how that came about?
- 21:20No bubbles, I love the been do. He's such a because it's not
- 21:25just like a gentle sweet character.
- 21:27It's like it's a little bit scary at the same time and I
- 21:29love right, right. So when George Lucas first,
- 21:33wrote the journal of the wills you mentioned mace windy.
- 21:37Who is an original Jedi been do monk.
- 21:40So Ben do was actually Lucas's original name for Jedi really,
- 21:46but he dropped that. He kept Jedi.
- 21:49And what's interesting is the tie-in is that then Dave filoni
- 21:54used been do as the name of the spiritual.
- 21:57Well, he looks like an ox. Yeah, he's kind of a spiritual
- 22:00being of both light and dark. He is kind of gray.
- 22:03Mmm, he takes the Middle Road between the light and the dark
- 22:06side of the force. And it's and it's interesting
- 22:08because Lucas's original terms for the light and dark side of
- 22:11the force are the ashla and the Bogan, which become Cannon and
- 22:15Rebels and ashla, was also the Alias used by Ahsoka in her
- 22:19novel. So the novel titled Ahsoka is
- 22:22hurt. That's her namik.
- 22:23Her she uses really, I didn't know which is Lucas's original
- 22:27term for the light which make sense because she's also tied to
- 22:30the daughter from mortis, who is yes right side.
- 22:35And a lot of people argue that This window is kind of like a
- 22:38gray Jedi or the most gray of the Jedi because he's got you
- 22:41know you kind of Treads the line so maze windy that name.
- 22:48So glad the changed it was an original Jedi been do but the
- 22:51been do is known according to Wikipedia is a collection of
- 22:56non-confrontational beliefs practiced by been do monks.
- 22:59So the original Journal of the wills by Lucas himself talks
- 23:03about the been do and now we have a whole non-confrontational
- 23:07Religion and their symbol is eerily similar to The Republic
- 23:12symbol and then eventually the Empire symbol so it all kind of
- 23:16ties together. I know it's a lot a lot but it's
- 23:18crazy you're right because the symbol does look like that.
- 23:21Which is so interesting because opposite if non-confrontational
- 23:26right with the right tire it's funny.
- 23:29The symbol of been do was a circle connected by eight even
- 23:33spokes which represented the unification of the Galaxy by the
- 23:37The force. Oops, the Empire cut through
- 23:40that unification and put a lot of gaps in the symbol.
- 23:44Which I mean if you look at you know the the Empire /, you know
- 23:49the Republic in its height. Yeah.
- 23:51You know and then the Sith Empire during the galactic War.
- 23:55The symbols. Very it's a pointed version of
- 23:58the circle. It's all connected.
- 24:00It's so fascinating. Oh my gosh.
- 24:02This is like blowing my damn mind.
- 24:05Yeah, it's insane. And because Anakin's fighter in
- 24:09Revenge of the Sith, the fighter ship, that little star fighter.
- 24:13He flies has a version of the six.
- 24:16Spoke symbol not the 8-spoke. So it's a version of the been do
- 24:22slightly less instead of anything.
- 24:23There's seven. There's eight, there's six.
- 24:25There's all these numbers and we know how numbers play an
- 24:27important part. We've talked about it in the
- 24:29mortise Arc crazy. I had no idea if it's a lot but
- 24:34it's like blowing my fucking mind.
- 24:37And this all comes from George Lucas's Journal of the wheels
- 24:40which never took off. Anyway, Star Wars was inspired
- 24:43by it. He had it in his mind and of
- 24:44course we all know that Luke's, the whole Skywalker name was
- 24:48originally supposed to be Starkiller right up until like,
- 24:50right, I started filming right. They even had to reshoot the,
- 24:55I'm Luke Skywalker. I'm here to rescue.
- 24:56They had to reshoot it because he said, I'm Luke Starkiller.
- 24:59I'm here to rescue you. Yeah, I I prefer Skywalk.
- 25:03I think it's one of the greatest names ever ever ever.
- 25:06It's Actually, for him starkiller's too much.
- 25:09Wasn't that the name of a Baker's Apprentice?
- 25:13Yeah. In the game.
- 25:14Yeah. What a fucking honor.
- 25:17That must have been right to get to play the character.
- 25:19That was, like, the original name of this guy Walker's, like,
- 25:23I don't know, I just love that shit.
- 25:27I just it's it's, it's really difficult.
- 25:31The wills is not a simple concept at all, it's not as
- 25:35simple as the priestesses that we see in the Clone Wars
- 25:38episode, it goes beyond its a it ties into a religion, it ties
- 25:42into Consciousness after death that ties into midi-chlorians
- 25:46and how Anakin came about and how you know, the prophecies
- 25:50within I start to wonder too. Like okay, so when you're alive
- 25:55the wills and midi-chlorians A to you through your living body
- 26:00basically. So if you die and preserve your
- 26:02Consciousness, how do they communicate with you?
- 26:05Then if you don't have like a symbiotic body to to live in
- 26:10together? Well, maybe they're the the
- 26:13link. Well, I guess if you had it it
- 26:15could be. Because they say when you die,
- 26:17right? And I always get this mixed up.
- 26:20When you die, do you join the cosmic force or the living
- 26:23Force? But they were saying that one
- 26:25feeds into the others. If you can, if when you die, you
- 26:28preserve your Consciousness. And you go into this like center
- 26:31point where it's like the living Force feeding, the cosmic Force,
- 26:36which is also, then the wills like it's a lot for the brain
- 26:43really is. It's a lot closer.
- 26:45You get to it the farther away. It feels, it's so confusing.
- 26:51Let's just read the very basic definition of the force.
- 26:56Let's go. To the original everything,
- 26:59right? The force was an energy field
- 27:01created by all life that connected everything in the
- 27:04universe and was known by a variety of names throughout
- 27:07Galactic history. So as Obi-Wan says to Luke
- 27:10Skywalker, quote, the force is what gives a Jedi, his power.
- 27:14It's an energy field created by all living things it surrounds
- 27:17us and penetrates us it binds the Galaxy together and quote.
- 27:21So I could see that if it's an energy field if you continue to
- 27:25remain in that energy field after After death, you could
- 27:28continue to use it per se to communicate and instruct or as
- 27:36long as you're leading someone on towards the light in their
- 27:39living form. I've never seen a force ghost,
- 27:42do anything nefarious. When that?
- 27:44You can't be, I guess. According to the rules.
- 27:48They've established, you can't be a force ghost if you're not
- 27:51selfless which is why the Sith can't preserve their
- 27:54Consciousness because they're selfish that Do I like all the
- 27:58ghosts are good? I guess.
- 28:01Yeah, this is so funny to be because Leia becomes a force
- 28:06ghost, right? And we had, we had questions
- 28:07about that. Yeah, so but I think by default
- 28:12and that's kind of what they were implying because she was
- 28:14so, like, pure of spirit because she was the ultimate selfless
- 28:19being, you know, she was always fighting for a cause Beyond
- 28:22yourself. Yeah, and so like naturally when
- 28:26she died, she would be a force ghost.
- 28:29But she was also studying, you know, she was training with
- 28:32Luke, and I do feel like they're twins.
- 28:35So maybe there's a tie. They're absolutely spiritual.
- 28:39And if Luke understood This and like, was had studied with Yoda
- 28:44and Obi-Wan, and had learned how to join the living force, or
- 28:48whatever. He probably taught Leia, and
- 28:50even if he didn't teach her, they were tied together
- 28:52spiritually. So, I don't know if it's ever
- 28:55been like officially addressed or not though.
- 28:58She just appeared and so it's again it's like, did they just
- 29:02write that in without like, really reading about it and
- 29:04like, understanding how Force ghosts work or did they
- 29:09understand it better than all of us and they just haven't share
- 29:13the information with us yet? I don't know.
- 29:15It's, it's fun. Like it's fun to talk about this
- 29:18but like you said before we started recording we don't
- 29:20really have any answers. No, we're just Just we're doing
- 29:25a study in trying to figure out. Well, first of all, we talked
- 29:28about the origins of it and from there, it just got more
- 29:31complicated because George Lucas's.
- 29:33Brain is a different type of brain.
- 29:35Seriously, as a writer, like we both are writers.
- 29:39This just blew my mind as like a creative person.
- 29:43It's like I've written novels that aren't Star Wars related
- 29:46and I'm always working on something.
- 29:48That's not Star Wars related never in my whole life if I ever
- 29:52decided to come up with a whole new.
- 29:54Religion explanation for existence like symbiotic
- 29:59creature. That gives you.
- 30:01My brain is just exploding because it's like, who's mind
- 30:07works like this, you know, it's like, who has the time for their
- 30:11mind to work? Like this.
- 30:13How often are you taking a shower, George Lucas, where you
- 30:16stand there and think about these things, because that's the
- 30:19only time of peace. I have to think about anything
- 30:21random me to shower taking you A shower, a driving or taking a
- 30:26walk. Those are the only three times
- 30:28that I like my brain can have times.
- 30:31It's true writing, it's true. So yeah, I don't know.
- 30:36How do you feel about it? Do you like this explanation for
- 30:40what the Williams Force do? You mean specifically with Leia,
- 30:43becoming a force ghost, or just the wheels, and just in general,
- 30:46like, what are your feelings on it?
- 30:49The parasite midi-chlorian thing is weird, but it's always been
- 30:53weird to In Star Wars, I do like that those, there's a greater
- 30:59thing watching over it by asking me this.
- 31:02We're talking about the greater topic of like, does destiny.
- 31:06Exist, is everything predetermined or do we seal our
- 31:10own fate? You know, and I think about
- 31:11Vikings who thought everything was predetermined that they were
- 31:15just on this path and at the mercy of their predetermined
- 31:18Destiny, and yeah, you know, and that sort of thing.
- 31:21And I don't know that, I believe that because we, Saw with Anakin
- 31:25that, it's both yes and no to his Destiny, right?
- 31:28He fulfilled the destiny. He just went in a very
- 31:31roundabout, long-ass way of doing it.
- 31:34That resulted in a lot of terrible things, right?
- 31:36Yeah, I like the idea of the priestesses that we see in the
- 31:40Clone Wars that gives it a little more concrete, like
- 31:44something tangible to work with. Other than all of this like
- 31:47philosophical. They have their hands in the
- 31:49destiny but they don't at the same time and people can choose
- 31:52but then they're also like manipulating And working with
- 31:55midi-chlorians all this. It's a little much.
- 31:57So I'm okay with certain aspects but not with others.
- 32:00When I always come back to the ultimate question of like, why,
- 32:04why are they bothering? Ya know, I love the idea of the
- 32:08force. I believe the force exists right
- 32:11now in this lifetime. Yeah, I believe everything is
- 32:14connected. All living things are connected.
- 32:16That's why as humans we have to be very careful about our
- 32:20environment. We have to be very careful about
- 32:22what we do to it. Because it's a ripple effect
- 32:26that we may not see, but, it's happening.
- 32:28Anyway. All living things are connected.
- 32:31Yeah, it's a chain Force exists. It's a chain.
- 32:33Yeah, Mmm. Yeah.
- 32:35And there are like, think about it on this level two, there are
- 32:39animals that can see and hear beyond what humans are able to.
- 32:43There are colors that exist that we can't see as humans.
- 32:47So like to assume that it's the only things that exist are what
- 32:51we can see and touch with our own.
- 32:54Physical existence is already disproven because there are
- 32:57other living creatures that can go beyond what we can.
- 33:00So imagine what an even heightened being could
- 33:04experience and see. So like, I mean, human bodies,
- 33:07if you'd want an even take spirituality out of it, you're
- 33:10an electrical being, you have an electrical force field.
- 33:13It's what powers your brain and electrical stuff extends Beyond
- 33:18its own container. So it's not like totally crazy
- 33:21to think that like your electrical energy is Sending
- 33:24beyond your skin at the very least, which would be the same
- 33:27for trees and grass. So, as you walk through nature,
- 33:31you literally could have like your energy kind of touching
- 33:34each other. I know that sounds like really
- 33:36crazy but it's actually not. It's what is it?
- 33:39What is it, like, thermodynamics or whatever?
- 33:41The fuck it is, it's like where they realized that all existence
- 33:46is not solid, its energy moving it is, it is.
- 33:51Yeah, and that's why you can think of it, like, You get a bad
- 33:55vibe from someone. That's an energy.
- 33:56You get a good vibe from someone.
- 33:58Why do animals not like certain people but do like somebody.
- 34:02I mean it's all energy and if you think about it, what's
- 34:05powering human beings is energy in an atom.
- 34:08I mean the smallest and submitted Korean.
- 34:11Isn't it? A glorious?
- 34:16There are atoms. And what's inside our atoms?
- 34:18Those are the wills. Yes, Jesus Lord.
- 34:27But you're right, I mean, even think about like, when there's
- 34:29going to be an earthquake or a volcano animals can sense it.
- 34:33Like, when I was in geology class, we were talking about
- 34:37earthquakes in particular but volcanoes as well.
- 34:39They say, one of the indicators is the animals, leave the area
- 34:43in a mass correct like in a very unusual speed all at once, there
- 34:48will be no birds, they'll be no squirrels and it could be days
- 34:52before the event even happens and that's because they can tell
- 34:56some Is up with the Earth. They can feel it.
- 34:59It's pretty amazing. So yeah, I definitely won one of
- 35:03the many reasons to love Star Wars is the way it ties into
- 35:06this stuff. I just never thought when we
- 35:09said we were going to research this that we were going to go
- 35:11back to the very very beginning of George.
- 35:13Lucas's, original ideas. I had no clue.
- 35:16I didn't either. I had no idea that this had
- 35:18always been part of his. Basically, it's his own
- 35:21headcanon. Think of the shit that Dave
- 35:25filoni has to know. Before not high-end stuff like
- 35:28the been do and the yeah the ashla for the for the
- 35:32novelization for Ahsoka and yeah, all this shit and I hope
- 35:37we get to see more. I hope we get to see more maybe
- 35:41in Future Works. They are like Jedi, those two.
- 35:43It's like George. Lucas is the Grand Master and
- 35:46he's passing his knowledge on to the master, they will
- 35:50communicate after death. Series will still be sitting
- 35:54around. Dave, filoni in is Pittsburgh.
- 35:56One's hat will be sitting around as a force goes with George
- 35:59Lucas in his Costco, white sneakers.
- 36:02And they'll be talking about this shit as Force Coast I
- 36:05believe this. Yeah, I agree.
- 36:12Oh my God, it's Costco sneakers, you're fucking killing me.
- 36:17You know, the one. Oh, I do.
- 36:18It's a real thing. It's a real thing.
- 36:21And the jeans, the dad, dad jeans, the plaid shirt, and the
- 36:25white sneakers. It's a look, it's a mood.
- 36:29Yeah it's a choice when you're that rich.
- 36:35It is a choice like it is a joke.
- 36:45Now it's your turn listeners. What are your thoughts on the
- 36:49wills? Do you like the idea of it being
- 36:51kind of a symbiotic, relationship?
- 36:53Do you interpret it, more Jazz, an energy force, Interested how
- 36:57you interpret the wills because it is a deep and complex subject
- 37:02so like sure is and I said, we don't really feel like we have a
- 37:05good grasp on it. Even after all this research, so
- 37:08tell us your thoughts for next week's episode.
- 37:12We reached out to our patrons and we asked them, pick our next
- 37:15podcast. Episode, our choices that we
- 37:18gave them were how Leia is like Padme Anakin or how is Luke like
- 37:22Padme Anakin and out of all of our patients.
- 37:25It was Hundred percent chosen. How is Leia like Padme Anakin?
- 37:31So with their choice next week we will talk about all the ways
- 37:35that Leia is like her mom and her dad and I think it's going
- 37:39to be a fun, a fun chat especially for sure after what
- 37:42Obi-Wan said in the season finale of the show that we will
- 37:47definitely get to give some feels.
- 37:50Yeah we're definitely gonna get into that too.
- 37:52So join us. It's going to be a good one
- 37:54unless week's episode we Revisited.
- 37:56Our top five things that we had wanted to see on the Kenobi
- 37:59series. We discussed what we did, get
- 38:01what we didn't get, what we were, glad we didn't get, we ran
- 38:05a poll on our Instagram, asking our listeners to tell us what
- 38:08was something that they had wanted to see in the Kenobi
- 38:10series, but that they didn't get.
- 38:12And we got so many responses. We got over 40, almost 50
- 38:17responses. It was pretty intense.
- 38:20There seem to be some consistent themes in the responses that we
- 38:23got most people wanted to see either Satine, Ahsoka for Cody.
- 38:29Some other things that people wanted to see where Clone Wars
- 38:31flashbacks, a cow cast, his Cameo.
- 38:33A Quinlan Vos appearance will be one doing yoga training, which I
- 38:37would pay good. Money to see a Honda appearance
- 38:40more episodes in general, Recs tala surviving, no one else
- 38:45dying in Obi-Wan's arms, a Padme flashback.
- 38:48A Corky Crees /, Kenobi, reference more emotional, and
- 38:53psychological pain. Sorry, not sorry.
- 38:56And my Everyone of all a robe drop.
