- 1:01Speaker 1: down by three categories micro budget, indie film, market, and
- 1:05Speaker 1: studio film. There's no reason to get coverage from a
- 1:07Speaker 1: reader that's used to reading temp pole movies when your

- 1:39Speaker 4: Hey, thanks for having me.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's that's so awesome. Yeah again, thank you
- 1:43Speaker 3: for doing this. I know you've probably got like a
- 1:45Speaker 3: million things to do today, and.
- 1:47Speaker 5: You know what might the hard part at all that
- 1:49Speaker 5: stuff is over for me. I just sit back and
- 1:51Speaker 5: relax now. So I just I just show up at
- 1:54Speaker 5: the venue at you know, before the doors open, I
- 1:56Speaker 5: look at the movie on screen and make sure it
- 1:58Speaker 5: looks pretty or sounds pre and that's about all I
- 2:01Speaker 5: do today. So I sit back and relax. And it's
- 2:04Speaker 5: more about the cast.
- 2:05Speaker 4: And crew anyways, that than me.
- 2:07Speaker 5: My job for everything is has been done for a
- 2:09Speaker 5: little while, so I just hope they come out and
- 2:11Speaker 5: have fun and then it premieres for the public in
- 2:13Speaker 5: a couple of weeks.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Here and that's really cool, Len, and I'm going to
- 2:17Speaker 3: make sure to link to everything in the show notes
- 2:19Speaker 3: that we talk about too. And by the way, you know,
- 2:21Speaker 3: Len and I are probably about an hour away from
- 2:24Speaker 3: each other because you're in Western Pa. I'm here in Philadelphia.
- 2:28Speaker 3: So usually when I interview everyone, lend they're either in
- 2:30Speaker 3: New York or LA. That's like, so usually, yeah, their
- 2:34Speaker 3: weather is amazing, and it's like, you know, a humid
- 2:37Speaker 3: or it's a rainy day out here in Philadelphia.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Yeah. You know, I'm a biker guy.
- 2:41Speaker 5: I've been a motorcycle guy for most of my life,
- 2:45Speaker 5: so you know, when it's ninety degrees humid and hot,
- 2:48Speaker 5: or Vegas and it's one hundred and fifteen and people
- 2:50Speaker 5: are bitching and moan, and that's the weather I like.
- 2:53Speaker 5: I like it the kind of hot that people complain about.
- 2:55Speaker 5: So the hotter the better.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Yeah, right, because you know, if you go out when
- 2:59Speaker 3: it's when it's too wet out or something you would
- 3:02Speaker 3: like wipe out. Right.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not fun. Ray rain hurts when you're running
- 3:07Speaker 5: a motorcycle. Trust me, it's it's not a fun time.
- 3:09Speaker 3: So so you known, and you and I too have
- 3:13Speaker 3: a lot of things in common, more shorts and filmmaking,
- 3:16Speaker 3: and I wanted to get ask you about your your
- 3:18Speaker 3: filmmaking career first, you know, because you've done a lot
- 3:21Speaker 3: of really cool stuff and I wanted to ask you know,
- 3:23Speaker 3: you've been working since about like I think two thousand
- 3:25Speaker 3: and five when you created your first movie, Swamp Zombies.
- 3:28Speaker 3: So I wanted to ask Glenn, you know, at what
- 3:30Speaker 3: point did you get bit by the filmmaking bug where
- 3:32Speaker 3: you said to yourself, Hey, I want to go out
- 3:33Speaker 3: there and I want to make my own film.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it's It's something I wanted to do
- 3:39Speaker 5: ever since I was little little, you know, when I
- 3:41Speaker 5: was you know whatever, six years old or whatever, I
- 3:45Speaker 5: started to want to do things or creatively imagination type
- 3:50Speaker 5: things where started to run as my mom would stay
- 3:52Speaker 5: up and watch science fiction and horror movies with me.
- 3:55Speaker 5: There was like a late Great horror show it was
- 3:57Speaker 5: called on Saturday nights at midnight. It wasn't a school night,
- 4:01Speaker 5: so my mom would let me stay up and she'd
- 4:02Speaker 5: watched like Man with Two Brains or or any number,
- 4:06Speaker 5: Godzilla versus the Smog Monster or so it was something
- 4:08Speaker 5: like that. So, you know, and staying up and watching
- 4:10Speaker 5: these and they were all PG rated stuff, so but
- 4:13Speaker 5: still it kind of planted the seed in my brain
- 4:15Speaker 5: that hey, look at all this creative stuff that's in
- 4:17Speaker 5: front of me, and they get to do monsters and
- 4:18Speaker 5: dinosaurs and scientific experiment dudes with two brains and this
- 4:24Speaker 5: kind of stuff.
- 4:24Speaker 4: So I thought, oh, this is so cool.
- 4:26Speaker 5: So but going along, and you know that that spurned
- 4:30Speaker 5: my love really for B movies and stuff like that,
- 4:32Speaker 5: and that got me on track that you know, I
- 4:34Speaker 5: still love that kind of stuff to this day. I
- 4:36Speaker 5: still watch that stuff to this day. You know, my days,
- 4:40Speaker 5: if it's not watching sports or obviously working, which is
- 4:44Speaker 5: it seems like I worked five.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Jobs at times.
- 4:47Speaker 5: Other than that, you know, I'm watching B movies on
- 4:49Speaker 5: Amazon Prime or seeing what the latest Trauma flick on
- 4:52Speaker 5: Prime is or the latest God Free ho movie on
- 4:54Speaker 5: Prime is or whatever. So I watch a lot of
- 4:56Speaker 5: Amazon Prime stuff. But yeah, I'm staying up with me
- 5:00Speaker 5: watching those films that got the ball rolling. But as
- 5:03Speaker 5: I went into high school and college, and you know,
- 5:07Speaker 5: back then it's you know, the early nineties and stuff.
- 5:09Speaker 5: There is no digital video or mini DV even at
- 5:13Speaker 5: that point, or anything like that. It's like if if
- 5:15Speaker 5: you wanted to shoot your film or do a film
- 5:17Speaker 5: that was you had to film on thirty five millimeter. Now, yeah,
- 5:20Speaker 5: sixteen and stuff was around, but I mean nobody really
- 5:23Speaker 5: got out there shooting on that stuff. I mean, you
- 5:25Speaker 5: had to do thirty five millimeter. I'm really to be
- 5:28Speaker 5: taken seriously even so, I mean even in movies to
- 5:32Speaker 5: this day that like you see Riff Tracks makes popular
- 5:38Speaker 5: movies like Future Force or something like that with David Carrodding.
- 5:41Speaker 5: You know that's nineteen ninety that's still shot on film.
- 5:43Speaker 5: I mean it might look like a movie with a
- 5:45Speaker 5: twenty thousand dollars budget, but I mean that's thirty five
- 5:47Speaker 5: millimeter film. They had six figures right there just shooting
- 5:51Speaker 5: on films. So, you know, I didn't have obviously the
- 5:55Speaker 5: knowledge or anything like that to you know, I didn't
- 5:58Speaker 5: go to UCLA Films school and those kinds of things.
- 6:02Speaker 5: I just kind of always wanted to do it, but
- 6:03Speaker 5: didn't have the real knowledge, you know, and still might
- 6:06Speaker 5: not to do, you know, those kinds of things.
- 6:09Speaker 4: But as I went along, Mini DV came about.
- 6:13Speaker 5: I started just kind of hanging out at like horror
- 6:16Speaker 5: movie conventions. And science fiction conventions and stuff like that
- 6:19Speaker 5: where I had ran into again, this is a really
- 6:23Speaker 5: really condensed quick version. I years later ran into Bob
- 6:27Speaker 5: Zadar and Chris Watson, who directs and writes and does casting.
- 6:32Speaker 4: He does a lot of stuff. He's an author. He
- 6:34Speaker 4: has a few books out there. Chris Watson did.
- 6:36Speaker 5: A movie called Zombie Gedd and he was working on
- 6:39Speaker 5: again a very low budget movie.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Populated it all.
- 6:44Speaker 5: I mean, in my opinion, he really started the boom,
- 6:47Speaker 5: if you will, of the one day on set things
- 6:51Speaker 5: for you know, name actors and actresses in micro indie movies.
- 6:54Speaker 5: He would get Tom Savini for a day, or he'd
- 6:56Speaker 5: get Bob Zaddar for a day or two, and he'd
- 6:58Speaker 5: get all these zombiegein and is packed with b name
- 7:01Speaker 5: you know actors in it.
- 7:03Speaker 4: And that's what he would do is.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Go around to these conventions, you know, pay him a
- 7:06Speaker 5: few underducks or whatever it was, and you know, get
- 7:08Speaker 5: him on set for the day and bam there in
- 7:10Speaker 5: his movie zombie getting So I kind of learned some
- 7:13Speaker 5: things from him, and and right then the mini DV
- 7:17Speaker 5: thing was the ball was was getting rolling pretty good.
- 7:20Speaker 5: And that this is around two thousand and three, two
- 7:22Speaker 5: thousand and four. So so that's pretty much how it
- 7:25Speaker 5: all got started there.
- 7:27Speaker 3: You know, you mentioned film school in and that's something
- 7:30Speaker 3: that we talk a lot about on the show because
- 7:32Speaker 3: some people have gone to film school. I didn't. I
- 7:35Speaker 3: didn't go to film school either. You know. I find
- 7:38Speaker 3: that it's kind of there. You know, there's a million,
- 7:41Speaker 3: million and one different ways to enter this business right there.
- 7:44Speaker 3: You can do a ton of different ways to get in.
- 7:46Speaker 3: And you know, I think the people that are are
- 7:49Speaker 3: quote unquote normal are the people that are that you know,
- 7:51Speaker 3: maybe sit on the couch or they're driving or and
- 7:53Speaker 3: they always saying themselves, Oh man, I wish I could
- 7:56Speaker 3: go out and make my movie. I wish I want
- 7:58Speaker 3: to make a movie. That's why. You know, with guests
- 8:00Speaker 3: like yourself there and the other guests of have On,
- 8:04Speaker 3: is that really normal because you're actually out there doing it,
- 8:06Speaker 3: you know what I mean, You're actually out there and
- 8:09Speaker 3: you know, I mean, as we're going to get into
- 8:11Speaker 3: it's so damn hard to make a movie because you
- 8:14Speaker 3: have to wear five different hats at least, you know,
- 8:17Speaker 3: you're always juggling ten different things, you know, and it's
- 8:20Speaker 3: like the fact that a movie even comes together is
- 8:23Speaker 3: a small miracle in of itself.
- 8:26Speaker 5: Yeah, and you know, I've been there twelve times now
- 8:29Speaker 5: or something like that, So it's not that it can't
- 8:32Speaker 5: be done. But yeah, the amount of work and effort,
- 8:34Speaker 5: I tell you, along the way since two thousand and four,
- 8:38Speaker 5: it's I've probably.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Met I don't.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Know, hundreds of filmmakers put it that way, but I've
- 8:46Speaker 5: met thousands of want to be filmmakers or wish they
- 8:50Speaker 5: would make films. I don't want to see They want
- 8:52Speaker 5: to be as in derogatory, I mean, you know, want
- 8:54Speaker 5: to be want to do stuff that kind of. I've
- 8:56Speaker 5: met thousands and thousands of them, but most of them
- 9:00Speaker 5: quit along the way somehow when they find out how
- 9:03Speaker 5: really difficult it is. You know, I'm not interested in
- 9:07Speaker 5: just being called a filmmaker.
- 9:08Speaker 4: I am one.
- 9:09Speaker 5: This is what I do, you know what I mean.
- 9:11Speaker 5: I don't have projects and then just not make them.
- 9:15Speaker 5: I mean, in my brain and the way I am,
- 9:17Speaker 5: I mean, I have to do this stuff or you know,
- 9:20Speaker 5: it's like sharks, they swim for it all the time
- 9:22Speaker 5: and if not, they die, sir. So that's kind of
- 9:25Speaker 5: how I am. I feel creatively. I always have to
- 9:28Speaker 5: keep being creative or keep working towards things, and that's
- 9:31Speaker 5: just kind of how life has lived for me.
- 9:34Speaker 3: So yeah, and I completely understand what you mean. I
- 9:37Speaker 3: mean it is and when you finally go sit down
- 9:39Speaker 3: and start to write a script or you know, you
- 9:42Speaker 3: go over and you're wearing your producer hat and you're
- 9:44Speaker 3: thinking yourself, all right, but we got to make sure
- 9:46Speaker 3: our schedules are going to coordinate for these shooting days.
- 9:49Speaker 3: And then you gotta wear another half for a marketing
- 9:51Speaker 3: you know, from a marketing standpoints. You made the thing
- 9:54Speaker 3: and you're like, oh crap, now I got to get
- 9:55Speaker 3: it out there and how are people going to be
- 9:57Speaker 3: able to see it?
- 9:57Speaker 1: So we'll be right after a word from our sponsor
- 10:05Speaker 1: and now back to the show.
- 10:08Speaker 3: So, so, Lene, way, when you were making Swamp Zombies,
- 10:10Speaker 3: which which was which was your first film? You know,
- 10:13Speaker 3: at what point did you sit down, you know, and
- 10:15Speaker 3: start writing the script and then say to yourself, oh, man,
- 10:18Speaker 3: you know what, I'm gonna make this. I'm gonna I'm
- 10:20Speaker 3: gonna direct this. This is gonna be my first feature.
- 10:22Speaker 3: You know what, you know, was there anything, was there
- 10:24Speaker 3: an impetus that happened where you finally said, you know what,
- 10:27Speaker 3: this is the year I'm going to do it.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 5: You know it was after I had met Chris Watson
- 10:31Speaker 5: when I when I when I had been on set
- 10:32Speaker 5: of Zombie Get In. And I still talked to Chris
- 10:34Speaker 5: Watson to this day. I talked to him a week ago.
- 10:39Speaker 4: You know, I.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Knew that his plan and what he was doing, and
- 10:42Speaker 5: he was talking to people from either Trouma or or whatever.
- 10:46Speaker 5: There's thousands of you know, distributors out there that want
- 10:49Speaker 5: to sign your movie. So yeah, I knew right after
- 10:53Speaker 5: Zombie Get In. I knew that what kind of camera
- 10:55Speaker 5: he used?
- 10:56Speaker 4: What what could I do? And I thought, wow, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 4: being on set of this this film, I I could
- 11:00Speaker 4: do this. Finally.
- 11:01Speaker 5: You know, this camera costs you know, a couple thousand
- 11:03Speaker 5: bucks or whatever. You know, I'm in college at the time,
- 11:06Speaker 5: I'm in medical school at the time, and I said,
- 11:09Speaker 5: you know what, that's it. I'll use a charge card,
- 11:11Speaker 5: which is what ninety nine percent of micro INDI people
- 11:14Speaker 5: do a lot of times, and you know they put
- 11:16Speaker 5: all their initial equipment in those kinds of things on it.
- 11:19Speaker 5: And to this day, even though I do not use it.
- 11:21Speaker 5: I still own the camera that shot Swamp Zombies, which
- 11:24Speaker 5: is a canon GL two, but it's still a nice camera.
- 11:29Speaker 5: It's just not a twenty four P It's in beautiful
- 11:31Speaker 5: thirty frames per second and just like Uncle Ted's video
- 11:34Speaker 5: camera twenty years ago.
- 11:35Speaker 4: So you know that's what we did.
- 11:38Speaker 5: But I knew that, yeah on'es on Zombie get In.
- 11:41Speaker 5: I came back and I sat there and thought, man,
- 11:44Speaker 5: you know I could do this. But the script I
- 11:47Speaker 5: wrote for Swamp Zombies, and I love writing scripts, but
- 11:50Speaker 5: the script I wrote back then, I mean again, I
- 11:52Speaker 5: still don't have any real experience. It was a pretty
- 11:56Speaker 5: ambitious script that I needed to have my head examined
- 11:59Speaker 5: trying to produce a movie like that is my first film.
- 12:02Speaker 5: But Tom, in terms of getting it out there and stuff,
- 12:05Speaker 5: I did have a plan though. I mean even when
- 12:07Speaker 5: I didn't know what I was doing, I did have
- 12:09Speaker 5: a plan. I knew I wanted to get eyeballs on
- 12:12Speaker 5: the movie, and I knew I wanted to pick genres
- 12:15Speaker 5: if you will, or entertainment outlets if you will, like WWE,
- 12:21Speaker 5: or the adult film industry or UFC, which was not
- 12:25Speaker 5: in two thousand and four, this big thing that it
- 12:27Speaker 5: is today. UFC was just kind of still kind of
- 12:30Speaker 5: getting rolling kind of thing. So that's where Dan Severn
- 12:33Speaker 5: came in, That's where Blue Mini came in, That's where
- 12:35Speaker 5: Jasmine Saint Clair came in. I mean I strategically obviously
- 12:39Speaker 5: went and wanted to use these people because of their
- 12:42Speaker 5: names and kind of a following that you know, hopefully
- 12:44Speaker 5: would come along. So yeah, there was plans like that.
- 12:48Speaker 5: I mean I didn't go in just completely well, I'm
- 12:51Speaker 5: just going to film this and whatever happens happens.
- 12:53Speaker 1: You know.
- 12:53Speaker 4: I didn't go in like that.
- 12:55Speaker 5: I kind of thought, you know, this is my plan.
- 12:57Speaker 5: I'm going to get it signed with the distributor. They're
- 13:00Speaker 5: going to use and market my my star people here,
- 13:03Speaker 5: and uh we'll see what happens from there. So that's
- 13:06Speaker 5: how that came about.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I actually have seen Swamp Zombies and
- 13:10Speaker 3: I actually watched it on Amazon Prime and.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Uh so you've seen the condensed version of it, You've
- 13:15Speaker 5: seen the the ninety minute version of it.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, I a good deal. I actually went on
- 13:21Speaker 3: a len Kabazinski sort of run. I actually saw that
- 13:25Speaker 3: face of the vampire cursal wolf skull Forest. I think, No, no,
- 13:29Speaker 3: I don't think skull Forest is on there yet. When
- 13:30Speaker 3: I watched it, maybe it was. Yeah, I was gonna say,
- 13:33Speaker 3: I don't. I think that's when I was. I was
- 13:34Speaker 3: on your Facebook, you know it was it was Bridal
- 13:36Speaker 3: Party massacre. That's actually oh yeah yeah. So yeah. So
- 13:41Speaker 3: when I watched Swamp Zombies, by the way, I was like,
- 13:43Speaker 3: Dan Severn looks exactly like you think a police chief
- 13:46Speaker 3: would look. He he look, he has that look to
- 13:49Speaker 3: him where he looks like a detective or you know
- 13:51Speaker 3: what I mean, like like him and Don Fry could
- 13:54Speaker 3: be like.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, they trained together back in the
- 13:57Speaker 5: day too.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 3: I mean they look like those horror grizzled tough guys
- 14:01Speaker 3: and they both are legit tough guys too, which is
- 14:02Speaker 3: even you know. I mean, Dan Severn, I'm a huge
- 14:06Speaker 3: UFC fan, Like I was saying, you know, we have
- 14:08Speaker 3: me too, yeah, yeah, like you know, we have two
- 14:10Speaker 3: things in common, martial arts and movies. And you know,
- 14:13Speaker 3: I remember I remember the early days of the UFC,
- 14:15Speaker 3: and it was like they had to have it in
- 14:17Speaker 3: like Casper, Wyoming, and it was just like there was
- 14:19Speaker 3: three rules, you know what I mean, and it's.
- 14:21Speaker 5: Just I remember, yeah, but Dan was my favorite even
- 14:25Speaker 5: back then. But when I approached him for Swamp Zombies, yeah,
- 14:29Speaker 5: it was super nice.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Man.
- 14:30Speaker 5: Actually, in Swamp Zombies, he came to Eerie for the
- 14:34Speaker 5: day because I had this swamp cabin type location that
- 14:37Speaker 5: you see in the movie where I'm doing a cotta
- 14:39Speaker 5: or something to introduce my character. We had that location
- 14:42Speaker 5: and a couple of cast members their dad or something
- 14:47Speaker 5: owned it. So I was like, man, this is a
- 14:48Speaker 5: super awesome location. So I was really fortunate to have
- 14:51Speaker 5: stuff like that in the movie. Dan Severn came out
- 14:54Speaker 5: to that location to film some scenes and then I thought, man,
- 14:56Speaker 5: you know, I just don't have him fighting enough at
- 14:59Speaker 5: this point. So I contacted him and said, Dan, you
- 15:02Speaker 5: know what, he's in Michigan. But he had all kinds
- 15:05Speaker 5: of woods and stuff around his property, and I said,
- 15:07Speaker 5: you know what, what if I come to you, you
- 15:08Speaker 5: don't have to do anything, just eat breakfast and come
- 15:11Speaker 5: outside and fight sot baser at it. So I'll come
- 15:14Speaker 5: to you, Dan, because Michigan is only like four and
- 15:16Speaker 5: a half hours away drive for me, So I just
- 15:19Speaker 5: we went up there for the day and what a hospitable.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Just nice guy.
- 15:23Speaker 5: I mean, he was super nice and we always wanted
- 15:25Speaker 5: to work together again. But scheduling wise, you know, once
- 15:30Speaker 5: my film schedules are set, I can't really change him
- 15:32Speaker 5: because I do vacation from work and leave and those
- 15:35Speaker 5: kinds of things, and once I take my dates, my
- 15:37Speaker 5: dates are my dates kind of thing, and it just
- 15:40Speaker 5: never could work out.
- 15:40Speaker 4: And he's a super busy guy. I mean, even to.
- 15:43Speaker 5: This day, he does tons and tons of stuff, whether
- 15:45Speaker 5: it's law enforcement or UFC promotional things or wrestling. He
- 15:49Speaker 5: still that promotes those kinds of things too. And yeah,
- 15:52Speaker 5: nice man. I hope to work with him again in
- 15:54Speaker 5: a Yeah, he was awesome.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I've seen all the things he's done over the years.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I know he went back into MMA, I think last year.
- 16:04Speaker 3: I mean he's got like a what is it like
- 16:06Speaker 3: he think he's like one hundred and five or one
- 16:07Speaker 3: hundred and ten and like nineteen losses, like unbelievable career.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I mean, most guys in MMA they last for maybe
- 16:15Speaker 3: you know what, eight ten fights. You know, a lot
- 16:16Speaker 3: of the guys and the upper echelon guys keep going.
- 16:19Speaker 3: But I mean, you know, I mean he has over
- 16:20Speaker 3: one hundred fights for God's sakes, I mean.
- 16:22Speaker 5: Yeah with him too. Though he's got a style too.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Though if you look at him, I mean, look at
- 16:27Speaker 5: the dude. He just has not taken tons of damage
- 16:30Speaker 5: throughout his career.
- 16:31Speaker 4: He's got a style.
- 16:32Speaker 5: That lends him to, you know, not get beat up
- 16:34Speaker 5: a lot in fights. So I think that's one of
- 16:37Speaker 5: the reasons he's lasted as long as as long as
- 16:39Speaker 5: he did.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Oh, I agree completely, Len. He was definitely one of
- 16:42Speaker 3: the forefathers of you know, he has more of a
- 16:44Speaker 3: wrestling background. He uses that in the Gauntlet. I'm sorry,
- 16:47Speaker 3: the Octagon. I'm jumping Ahead'm thinking about your movie Challenged
- 16:50Speaker 3: with the Five Gods. That's what I'm thinking of. And
- 16:54Speaker 3: so well, yeah, you know, I agree completely. And you know,
- 16:56Speaker 3: he's just used his style so well. And when you know,
- 17:00Speaker 3: and you also look at somebody like Don fry kind
- 17:02Speaker 3: of similar style, Don Frye might trick a little more.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I'm sure that all the people listening to this for film,
- 17:07Speaker 3: by the way, probably like Virelin and Dave talking about you.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Say about the MMA, right, yeah, yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 3: So you know, but but yeah, helped two awesome guys,
- 17:15Speaker 3: and I actually was fortunough to meet Don Fry before,
- 17:18Speaker 3: but not Dan, and I'm glad to hear that he's
- 17:20Speaker 3: an awesome guy, yeah, because he seems pretty intimidating by
- 17:24Speaker 3: the way.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Like you know, oh yeah after the one h after
- 17:28Speaker 5: we shot Swan Zombies and in Meadville, Pennsylvania there we
- 17:30Speaker 5: all went out to Pizza Hut afterwards, and he was
- 17:33Speaker 5: like as nice as like a librarian type person. He's
- 17:38Speaker 5: eating his pizza with a knife and fork and he's yes, sir, yes,
- 17:42Speaker 5: ma'am to the waitresses, and I mean, he treats everybody
- 17:45Speaker 5: super good, so you can tell he's, like I believe
- 17:47Speaker 5: he's from Missouri and he's got that kind of hospitality
- 17:51Speaker 5: thing going on for him. So he's extremely nice to everybody.
- 17:54Speaker 5: And with that too, he's got the wrestling base, but
- 17:57Speaker 5: he acts like a true martial artist though. He as
- 18:00Speaker 5: that respect and that nature about him that you can
- 18:03Speaker 5: tell those kinds of disciplines kind of molded his character
- 18:07Speaker 5: probably personally as well.
- 18:08Speaker 4: So very nice guy and.
- 18:10Speaker 3: That's awesome to hear.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 3: You know a lot of those wrestlers from the Midwest,
- 18:14Speaker 3: you know, amazing, amazing stuff they do out there, and
- 18:17Speaker 3: so just getting back to to swam Zombies learn. So
- 18:19Speaker 3: when you finally, you know, you were putting this together,
- 18:21Speaker 3: and you mentioned, you know, you had a few, you know,
- 18:23Speaker 3: pieces of the cast and crew, you know, helped you
- 18:26Speaker 3: get maybe a location here, location there, or maybe a
- 18:28Speaker 3: resource here and there. You know, was there ever a
- 18:31Speaker 3: point in time where you had like a huge problem,
- 18:33Speaker 3: like a production problem. My question was, yeah, I'm glad
- 18:38Speaker 3: I brought it up there because I love to hear
- 18:40Speaker 3: stories like this about how filmmakers overcame this. You know,
- 18:43Speaker 3: you have a sort of like a resource problem and
- 18:45Speaker 3: you know, so what was your biggest problem and how
- 18:47Speaker 3: did you overcome it?
- 18:49Speaker 4: Oh? God, biggest problem? I don't know.
- 18:52Speaker 5: I can think of one off at the top of
- 18:53Speaker 5: my head. I don't know if it was the biggest problem,
- 18:55Speaker 5: because we still would have got around it. But we
- 18:58Speaker 5: had a local actress. Well, nobody's actors and actresses. We're
- 19:03Speaker 5: all just starting, but we'll just say actress who wanted
- 19:06Speaker 5: the role. She was the friend of Pamela, such as
- 19:10Speaker 5: character in the movie. They're going on the beach and
- 19:12Speaker 5: stuff like that, and sunbathing and just girls hanging out
- 19:15Speaker 5: on the beach kind of thing. Well, the one character
- 19:19Speaker 5: did not show up, and I had just talked to
- 19:22Speaker 5: them the night before and actually met with him and said, Okay,
- 19:24Speaker 5: this is what we're doing. We're going to show up
- 19:26Speaker 5: at this beach at X amount of time. I'll have
- 19:28Speaker 5: you done with the probably four or five hours, and
- 19:30Speaker 5: that'll be that.
- 19:31Speaker 4: You know.
- 19:31Speaker 5: And they're like, oh, great, this is awesome. I'm so
- 19:33Speaker 5: excited to do this. Blah blah blah blah blah. So
- 19:35Speaker 5: Pam such is on set. We're all down there waiting
- 19:37Speaker 5: and this person just doesn't show up, doesn't call me,
- 19:40Speaker 5: doesn't do anything. And I thought, oh man, now what
- 19:44Speaker 5: so And back then my brain wasn't running where it
- 19:48Speaker 5: didn't it. I'll get into a Hellcout's example in a
- 19:51Speaker 5: little bit here. But now, if something like this were
- 19:55Speaker 5: to happen and somebody would know show, I'm pretty confident
- 19:58Speaker 5: in my abilities. I could script write on the fly
- 20:00Speaker 5: and fix it.
- 20:02Speaker 1: We'll be right back after a word from our sponsor,
- 20:08Speaker 1: and now back to the show.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Whatever the situation is.
- 20:13Speaker 5: I'm pretty I have that confidence now that I'll fix
- 20:15Speaker 5: any problem that arises like this. But yeah, the actress
- 20:19Speaker 5: no showed and I was stuck without a character there
- 20:21Speaker 5: and I thought, oh god, I'm panicking and stuff. And
- 20:23Speaker 5: then one of the extras comes up to me and says, hey,
- 20:28Speaker 5: I know this local girl that works as a stripper
- 20:30Speaker 5: here and she might, you know, come out and do this.
- 20:32Speaker 5: And I said, okay, offer one hundred bucks to get
- 20:34Speaker 5: down here, like right now, you know, for the day,
- 20:37Speaker 5: and he's like, okay, like go, and sure enough he did.
- 20:41Speaker 5: And an hour later came this red haired, tall, good
- 20:44Speaker 5: looking young girl that comes out and girl woman probably
- 20:48Speaker 5: in her early twenties there that comes out to set
- 20:50Speaker 5: and sure enough we made the scene happen and it
- 20:52Speaker 5: got done, and yeah, she's the character that's Pamela such
- 20:57Speaker 5: as friend.
- 20:57Speaker 4: They go on the beach and she gets killed by zombies.
- 21:00Speaker 5: So uh yeah, that was that was a major problem
- 21:03Speaker 5: where somebody just didn't show up who we pretty much
- 21:06Speaker 5: fully expected to show up.
- 21:07Speaker 4: So uh yeah, we had to pull that one out
- 21:09Speaker 4: and luckily we did so.
- 21:12Speaker 5: But yeah, it's funny you're watch it on Amazon Prime.
- 21:14Speaker 5: I had done the re edit on that movie and
- 21:16Speaker 5: I chopped about a half hour from it and put
- 21:19Speaker 5: it on Prime. And actually the movie has been out
- 21:22Speaker 5: of print for several several months now I probably close
- 21:25Speaker 5: to uh, I don't know, almost going on a year anyways,
- 21:29Speaker 5: because I got the rights back to that film. It
- 21:32Speaker 5: is not available on DVD. It's out of print now,
- 21:34Speaker 5: so you're going to pay potentially big bucks to try
- 21:36Speaker 5: to find it right this second.
- 21:37Speaker 4: But it's coming. It's coming back to DVD in like
- 21:40Speaker 4: a month.
- 21:42Speaker 5: I'm just sending it out to get authored now the
- 21:44Speaker 5: dbd SO and then it'll be out and selling again
- 21:47Speaker 5: on DVD with a couple of new commentary tracks, so
- 21:51Speaker 5: it'll be a brand new package, new artwork, all that
- 21:53Speaker 5: kind of stuff. So it should be just about a
- 21:55Speaker 5: month or maybe even a little less and Swam Zombies
- 21:58Speaker 5: will be back on DVD.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Oh that's really cool. I mean, you know, and by
- 22:02Speaker 3: the way, I mentioned that about production problems and how
- 22:05Speaker 3: you overcame them, you know, when you were talking about
- 22:08Speaker 3: somebody not showing up, that happened to me too, Lenn.
- 22:10Speaker 3: I completely understand where you're coming from, because when I
- 22:13Speaker 3: started doing movies too, that was one of the biggest
- 22:15Speaker 3: problems was people who would say, Oh my god, you know,
- 22:18Speaker 3: it's it's I've always wanted to do this, I'm going
- 22:20Speaker 3: to show up and the day of they know show
- 22:23Speaker 3: no court.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, and you know, but that's a it's a
- 22:26Speaker 5: good lesson learned and going forward in the future when
- 22:29Speaker 5: I when I'm doing extras, and a lot of times
- 22:31Speaker 5: I didn't have to coordinate extras going forward, sometimes I did,
- 22:35Speaker 5: but but then is I got associate producers come on
- 22:38Speaker 5: board and things I would have like my associate producer
- 22:41Speaker 5: for for quite a few films now Ruth Sprague does
- 22:43Speaker 5: a lot of coordinating with extras and things like that.
- 22:47Speaker 5: But the main thing I do is if you aren't
- 22:50Speaker 5: one million percent sure you're coming, just please, you know,
- 22:54Speaker 5: I'm marking you down a as a no. You know
- 22:56Speaker 5: what I mean, I don't maybe these are nos to
- 22:58Speaker 5: me now in filma and it's like I try to
- 23:02Speaker 5: only do the shore things and if they show up, great.
- 23:05Speaker 5: If it's a maybe and they show up, great, If not,
- 23:08Speaker 5: I didn't count on them anyways kind of thing. And
- 23:10Speaker 5: that's kind of how I treat that.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I concur if they're not into it a million percent,
- 23:16Speaker 3: and if they even say, well, you know, hey, Len,
- 23:18Speaker 3: I'll try to show up or you know, I'll try
- 23:20Speaker 3: to be there. I was like that that that's that
- 23:22Speaker 3: subtext meeting. That's that's the part right.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Right, right right. I don't try anything. I just do it.
- 23:28Speaker 4: So little faster pussycat reference there.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it's there is no uh do it or not?
- 23:36Speaker 3: There is no try yoda yea from the and uh.
- 23:40Speaker 3: But so you know, as you actually got you know,
- 23:41Speaker 3: some zombies, you got it done. You know, you're you're
- 23:44Speaker 3: able to just sort of market it. So when you started,
- 23:47Speaker 3: you know, going into your other projects like Cursal the
- 23:49Speaker 3: Wolf and Fist of the Vampire, you know what, what
- 23:51Speaker 3: are some of those things that you that that you
- 23:53Speaker 3: started to do you know, maybe more of or less
- 23:56Speaker 3: of meaning? Did you start hiring more crew members to
- 23:59Speaker 3: like help you out? Did you maybe say, you know
- 24:00Speaker 3: what I'm gonna I'm gonna get a person just for
- 24:02Speaker 3: marketing and maybe I'm going to find some producers that
- 24:05Speaker 3: I can actually work with, you know that I can
- 24:08Speaker 3: keep using for project to project project because that's something
- 24:10Speaker 3: I found out is too is like you know, Kevin
- 24:12Speaker 3: Smith has Goot Mesure, Quentin Tarantino has Lawrence Bender. It
- 24:14Speaker 3: was always at that that tandem. So were you were
- 24:17Speaker 3: you able to start you know, finding more and more
- 24:18Speaker 3: people that you wanted to work with.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Yeah, you know the way I tried to do it.
- 24:23Speaker 5: After Swampsombies, I went into Curse of the Wolf, and
- 24:25Speaker 5: the first thing I knew I had to improve right
- 24:27Speaker 5: off the bat is I looked at other films and
- 24:29Speaker 5: looked at my peers and.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Things like that.
- 24:31Speaker 5: And as I said, MiniDV was still fairly new at
- 24:34Speaker 5: that point. But so it was twenty four P cameras
- 24:36Speaker 5: for consumers, and I knew once I saw twenty four
- 24:40Speaker 5: P and one of my other peers projects were looking
- 24:43Speaker 5: like I knew right then and there, I need to
- 24:44Speaker 5: go twenty four P. And I need to just try
- 24:46Speaker 5: to get a hold of a good camera for Curse.
- 24:48Speaker 5: So I had bought a Panasonic one hundred DVX one
- 24:52Speaker 5: hundred D off of a guy that was filming biker
- 24:55Speaker 5: documentaries for the Discovery Channel and he was local making
- 24:59Speaker 5: motor cycle engines or something, and he said.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Hey, I got this camera. I'll sell it to you
- 25:03Speaker 4: five hundred bucks.
- 25:04Speaker 5: And that's the best five hundred bucks I ever spent
- 25:05Speaker 5: because it went on to shoot, you know, three or
- 25:08Speaker 5: four more movies for me on the DBX, and it
- 25:10Speaker 5: was just a workhorse for me. So I knew I
- 25:13Speaker 5: had to improve that, and I think we pretty much
- 25:14Speaker 5: did that. And I think there's a big jump between
- 25:17Speaker 5: Swamp Zombies and Curse of the Wolf. I can see
- 25:20Speaker 5: a big divide between those two films in terms of
- 25:23Speaker 5: look at least. But yeah, it's a shit, you know, dude,
- 25:30Speaker 5: it's a you try to I want that when I
- 25:34Speaker 5: do my pictures. I want to have a cast that
- 25:37Speaker 5: I can run with for a while. And I thought
- 25:40Speaker 5: it would happen back on Curse of the Wolf. We
- 25:42Speaker 5: had changed editors because the editors of Curse of the
- 25:45Speaker 5: Wolf were actually on set doing effects, so they really
- 25:48Speaker 5: lived with Curse of the Wolf.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Like I did.
- 25:50Speaker 5: And he was not begging, but really strongly lobbying, len,
- 25:53Speaker 5: let me edit this movie.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Let me edit Curse. Let me edit Curse.
- 25:55Speaker 5: And I was going to use the same editor as
- 25:57Speaker 5: Swamp Zombies, but he kind of convinced me and Lisa,
- 26:02Speaker 5: who was the producer of that film, to use him,
- 26:05Speaker 5: and going forward, he ended up editing Fist to the
- 26:07Speaker 5: Vampire as well. And at that point, I'm like, Okay,
- 26:10Speaker 5: let's do like a three picture tight handshake deal here,
- 26:14Speaker 5: you know what I mean. In the micro world, you
- 26:16Speaker 5: don't pay somebody ten grand to edit three pictures. That
- 26:18Speaker 5: just doesn't happen. You shake hands and say, hey, I
- 26:20Speaker 5: want to use you in the next three movies.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Let's do it.
- 26:23Speaker 5: So that's what we thought would happen. But he edited
- 26:25Speaker 5: two pictures and then I kind of just let him
- 26:26Speaker 5: go from there. Just the amount of work and stuff
- 26:29Speaker 5: and being a perfectionist and myself, it's just like, I'm
- 26:34Speaker 5: not happy a lot. I tend to really try to
- 26:38Speaker 5: just push and push people and get the best out
- 26:40Speaker 5: of things. And you know, that's kind of a personality
- 26:45Speaker 5: quirk of mind that doesn't always work out all the
- 26:47Speaker 5: time anyways. You know, it's kind of like a leader
- 26:51Speaker 5: of a band that goes through a lot of musicians.
- 26:53Speaker 5: You know, they either think he's a dick, or they
- 26:55Speaker 5: push him to work too hard for too little money,
- 26:58Speaker 5: and all those kinds of things. But I understand and
- 27:00Speaker 5: all that stuff. I mean, I know my limitations when
- 27:03Speaker 5: it comes to that. But yeah, you know, it works
- 27:06Speaker 5: out where you end up using the same people for
- 27:08Speaker 5: two or three movies or so, but then they move
- 27:10Speaker 5: on or you know, something happens where you know they
- 27:13Speaker 5: go onto their own projects or something.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Like that.
- 27:15Speaker 5: But you know, at the end of the day, when
- 27:17Speaker 5: when my people want to go off and do things
- 27:20Speaker 5: or do that, that's totally cool. But you know, for
- 27:22Speaker 5: Killer roll films, at the end of the day, I'm
- 27:24Speaker 5: the one still here, you know what I mean. I'm
- 27:26Speaker 5: still here in working no matter what. Everybody else can
- 27:29Speaker 5: leave and branch off, but you know, at the end
- 27:31Speaker 5: of the day, I'm still here doing stuff and that's
- 27:34Speaker 5: not going to change.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, And I think you always have this
- 27:37Speaker 3: sort of being the master of your own fate, you
- 27:39Speaker 3: know what I mean. You always have to be not
- 27:41Speaker 3: only I mean you're like me, Lenn. You want to
- 27:43Speaker 3: write your own scripts and I and honestly because it's
- 27:46Speaker 3: your story, is your own special sauce, so to speak,
- 27:50Speaker 3: and you want to say, you know what, I actually
- 27:51Speaker 3: want to see this done. So I'm going to lead
- 27:53Speaker 3: the charge to get this produced. Obviously I'll direct it.
- 27:56Speaker 3: And then you know, and you want to make sure
- 27:58Speaker 3: that that the last part of that left is the production,
- 28:00Speaker 3: you know, and you want to make sure a do
- 28:02Speaker 3: I have some kind of you know, money to you know,
- 28:05Speaker 3: you know, cash is king, right, and then you know, resources,
- 28:08Speaker 3: the locations and stuff like that, and then we go
- 28:10Speaker 3: into the whole cast and crew stuff of you know,
- 28:12Speaker 3: what's my list? And like you said, Lena, as you
- 28:15Speaker 3: keep doing this, your list grows more and more. So
- 28:18Speaker 3: if somebody does drop out, you know, hey, well I
- 28:20Speaker 3: have a couple other people now and I'm not I'm
- 28:22Speaker 3: not you know where. You know, when you first start out,
- 28:24Speaker 3: your list is very small, and then as you start
- 28:26Speaker 3: going out more, you network and you start meeting new people.
- 28:30Speaker 5: Yeah, when I A big turning point for me with
- 28:33Speaker 5: the less is more kind of thing is between a
- 28:37Speaker 5: movie I did call Ninja Prophecy of Death, which was
- 28:40Speaker 5: one of my higher last like higher budgeted movies for
- 28:43Speaker 5: what I do, I went in and did a movie
- 28:45Speaker 5: called Skall Forest. Where Skall Forest I tried to like
- 28:49Speaker 5: not dumb it down, but I tried to do a
- 28:50Speaker 5: less is more thing where, you know what, I'm not
- 28:52Speaker 5: trying to get twenty seven different locations. I think Skall
- 28:56Speaker 5: Forest might have four or five locations total in it
- 28:59Speaker 5: and something like that. But I knew that I'll condense
- 29:01Speaker 5: the story.
- 29:02Speaker 4: I'll make it.
- 29:03Speaker 5: You know, we're not going to be running around on
- 29:05Speaker 5: a film like a day planner, you know, day one,
- 29:07Speaker 5: we're in the woods. That's it, where they're all day.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Day two we're in a dance hall or something all day.
- 29:12Speaker 5: And I knew I got really I got better at
- 29:17Speaker 5: day planning for you know, what's shooting on what day?
- 29:19Speaker 4: That thing.
- 29:20Speaker 5: I and the last several films that went really smooth
- 29:24Speaker 5: for me to shoot. So day planning and constructing. Usually,
- 29:27Speaker 5: if I have extras, I put them all on one
- 29:29Speaker 5: day for example, like hell, because extras are always the
- 29:33Speaker 5: hardest thing for me anyways, is to round up a
- 29:35Speaker 5: bunch of people, get them all on the same day,
- 29:37Speaker 5: on the same schedules, and all that stuff.
- 29:39Speaker 4: That's hard. So if it's one.
- 29:42Speaker 5: Group of people that I want to really have fun
- 29:44Speaker 5: on my movie sets, it's not even so much my
- 29:46Speaker 5: lead actors. It's my extras because those are the people
- 29:48Speaker 5: that populate scenes and make them look good, you know
- 29:50Speaker 5: what I mean. So so the number one group of people,
- 29:55Speaker 5: if you will, on set, that I want to come
- 29:56Speaker 5: out and have fun is the extras, because when I
- 29:58Speaker 5: do my next film, I want them back.
- 30:01Speaker 1: We'll be right back after a word from our sponsor
- 30:07Speaker 1: and now back to the show.
- 30:10Speaker 5: To do something else if I need them. So yeah,
- 30:14Speaker 5: on Hellcat's Revenge that's coming out here, and it's already
- 30:17Speaker 5: it's signed a worldwide multimedia, so it's out of my
- 30:20Speaker 5: hands now, but I do think the DVD's probably come
- 30:23Speaker 5: in by like Thanksgiving ish time here for Helcat's Revenge.
- 30:28Speaker 5: But we did a clubhouse, if you will, a female
- 30:31Speaker 5: Hellcats like motorcycle clubhouse, and we shot all those scenes
- 30:34Speaker 5: on the same day. We did an eight hour day
- 30:36Speaker 5: or whatever, and all we did for that eight hour
- 30:38Speaker 5: shift was film all the scenes where it's really really
- 30:41Speaker 5: populated in the clubhouse, and it worked out really really well.
- 30:44Speaker 5: So and we did the same thing where we were
- 30:46Speaker 5: at a strip club. We shot all the strip club
- 30:48Speaker 5: scenes on one day. Got a bunch of people who
- 30:50Speaker 5: doesn't want to come out and be an extra, and
- 30:52Speaker 5: a strip club, so it's like we got a bunch
- 30:54Speaker 5: of people on that day. So that's one thing I've
- 30:57Speaker 5: gotten better at as we go along. But yeah, it's
- 31:02Speaker 5: those elements that you've got to it's not about cutting
- 31:04Speaker 5: or trimming, it's about really what I think I've gotten
- 31:08Speaker 5: better at is writing scripts that I know I can
- 31:10Speaker 5: accomplish kind of thing. And I get a lot of
- 31:13Speaker 5: emails actually saying, well, then how did you go about
- 31:16Speaker 5: doing this or that or how did you get this
- 31:18Speaker 5: or that in your films and stuff? And I said,
- 31:19Speaker 5: you know what, if you want to accomplish your film
- 31:22Speaker 5: and you're just getting rolling, or it's your first movie
- 31:24Speaker 5: or second movie.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Or whatever, write one.
- 31:27Speaker 5: Write your script to what you know you can get.
- 31:29Speaker 5: If you have a script that calls for a double
- 31:32Speaker 5: decker bus in France and sharks coming at you from
- 31:36Speaker 5: the sky, but you can't get those things, don't do it.
- 31:39Speaker 5: You know what I mean, don't write it. So and
- 31:42Speaker 5: I'm not trying to limit your imagination, but what I'm
- 31:44Speaker 5: trying to do is get you to have a film
- 31:46Speaker 5: that's realistic for you to shoot kind of thing. And
- 31:50Speaker 5: it's stall force being example, it's woods, it's guns, it's
- 31:53Speaker 5: fight scenes, and that's about it. So I knew I
- 31:56Speaker 5: could get that done. But so I tell them that,
- 31:59Speaker 5: And then I said, you know, at your cast and crew,
- 32:02Speaker 5: everybody wants to do a movie. Every joe blow off
- 32:05Speaker 5: the street wants to do a movie. But when it
- 32:07Speaker 5: comes time for them to show up on your set
- 32:09Speaker 5: and they don't, you know, don't be surprised kind of things.
- 32:12Speaker 5: So you know, don't don't make your cast real expansive
- 32:15Speaker 5: and stuff. Just to start off, I would say, start
- 32:17Speaker 5: start small here. And speaking, I know, we've talked a
- 32:21Speaker 5: lot about swamp zombies and yeah, I mean coordinating. God
- 32:24Speaker 5: bless everybody that helped me out for that film. But yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 5: sometimes it was just hell trying to coordinate twenty zombies
- 32:30Speaker 5: on set or whatever. I mean, And I was doing
- 32:32Speaker 5: it all back then. I didn't have an associate producer
- 32:34Speaker 5: or anything. I mean, I was on the phone and
- 32:36Speaker 5: doing Oh man, it was I ain't going back there again,
- 32:41Speaker 5: put it that way. But but everybody that helped out
- 32:44Speaker 5: was super great. I mean, I've been really blessed that
- 32:46Speaker 5: out of whatever, a dozen movies or whatever, it is
- 32:48Speaker 5: now very very very I can't I can't remember many
- 32:54Speaker 5: dickheads or jerks really, so I've been really fortunate there.
- 32:57Speaker 5: And yeah, even back in the day to kind of
- 32:59Speaker 5: prevent that stuff, I had met Jasmine Saint Clair and
- 33:01Speaker 5: Blue Meanie and talked to Dan Severin and well before shooting,
- 33:06Speaker 5: because I knew I didn't want to bring these people
- 33:08Speaker 5: on that were getting paid for their roles and everybody
- 33:10Speaker 5: else is covered in swamp crap and zombie makeup and stuff,
- 33:13Speaker 5: and they're not getting paid.
- 33:15Speaker 4: Yeah, the last thing.
- 33:17Speaker 5: I'm gonna do is bring Jasmine on Saint Clair on
- 33:19Speaker 5: set and paid roll and have her treat my people
- 33:22Speaker 5: like jerks or whatever. So I made sure everybody I
- 33:26Speaker 5: used had a cool personality and stuff, and I still
- 33:29Speaker 5: kind of work that way to this day. If there's
- 33:31Speaker 5: a more name person that maybe once involved, I would
- 33:34Speaker 5: talk to them and just kind of make sure that
- 33:36Speaker 5: it's gonna be.
- 33:36Speaker 4: A personality fit. I'm a real blue collar guy.
- 33:40Speaker 5: So it's dibas and those kinds of people. They're just
- 33:42Speaker 5: gonna hate me. I'm gonna probably hate them and it's
- 33:45Speaker 5: just not gonna work.
- 33:46Speaker 3: So you know, yeah, you know that that's the thing, Lenn.
- 33:50Speaker 3: You have to get those bad attitudes out of there.
- 33:51Speaker 3: And that that's so true, because those bad attitudes spread.
- 33:55Speaker 3: It's almost like a like a disease, you know, It's
- 33:57Speaker 3: almost like it was like a zombie GIRs. You know,
- 34:00Speaker 3: it's like it affects one person that it affects two.
- 34:03Speaker 3: And and that's why it's so good to sort of
- 34:06Speaker 3: like hire slow, fire fast, as you're saying, out of business,
- 34:09Speaker 3: and that's something I've learned over the years too. Is
- 34:11Speaker 3: you know, I've been there. We were just mentioning about
- 34:14Speaker 3: swam zombies where you're on the phone and you're trying
- 34:16Speaker 3: to coordinate all these people. You know, I've been there too,
- 34:18Speaker 3: where you're you're like, okay, you're on the phone trying
- 34:20Speaker 3: to give somebody directions. People are coming up to it
- 34:22Speaker 3: at the same time asking you for stuff, and you're like,
- 34:24Speaker 3: my god. You know it's it's a lot, right, So
- 34:27Speaker 3: that's when you need to have, you know, the crew
- 34:28Speaker 3: to sort of you know, to sort of delegate the
- 34:31Speaker 3: you know, all these assignments, and you want to have
- 34:33Speaker 3: everyone have that upbeat attitude. Hey, look, you know we're
- 34:35Speaker 3: making art. We're actually out here doing something and we're
- 34:38Speaker 3: getting treated well for it. The director is not talking
- 34:40Speaker 3: down to us. You know, we all feel like we're
- 34:42Speaker 3: a part of the team. And I and you know
- 34:44Speaker 3: I and that is so key because you know, I've
- 34:47Speaker 3: been on those sets here in Philadelphia where you know,
- 34:49Speaker 3: you show up and the director acts like, you know,
- 34:51Speaker 3: who the hell is you know, what are you doing here?
- 34:53Speaker 3: Don't talk to me or whatever, and you're like, come on, dude,
- 34:56Speaker 3: you know, we're all in the same boat here.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, with stuff like that.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Out of the opposite, I wish I could hang out
- 35:02Speaker 5: and talk to the extras more, to just talk to
- 35:04Speaker 5: people in general. I mean, there's people that had starring
- 35:06Speaker 5: roles in my films too. I probably spoke three sentences too,
- 35:10Speaker 5: you know, just because I don't I don't have time
- 35:12Speaker 5: on set and with a wonderful internet here. I mean,
- 35:17Speaker 5: a lot of my directing, if you will, to the actors,
- 35:20Speaker 5: it's done months beforehand. You know, we're communicating online or
- 35:24Speaker 5: you know, they'll message me questions about their characters. That
- 35:28Speaker 5: I do a lot of the directing remotely, so when
- 35:31Speaker 5: by the time they show up on set, they know
- 35:33Speaker 5: what's expected of them, you know, character wise and things
- 35:36Speaker 5: like that. So it does make my job easier come
- 35:39Speaker 5: actual you know, film time, when the camera's rolling, that
- 35:43Speaker 5: they know what I'm expecting of them. And that doesn't
- 35:46Speaker 5: mean I still have to kind of direct them and
- 35:48Speaker 5: reel them in from here or there. But it's it's
- 35:52Speaker 5: a good process that I get to nail a lot
- 35:54Speaker 5: of direction really ahead of time a lot many times.
- 35:58Speaker 3: And that's good. That's really too because that way when
- 36:01Speaker 3: they get there, you're you know, everyone knows what was
- 36:03Speaker 3: expected of them, and you can just rock and roll
- 36:05Speaker 3: through this and then a lot of you know, waiting
- 36:07Speaker 3: around between takes and stuff like that.
- 36:09Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Hellcats Revenge.
- 36:11Speaker 5: I rewrote the script at the last minute, literally last minute.
- 36:16Speaker 5: We had a cast member drop out, and I thought, well,
- 36:19Speaker 5: I'm still filming this. I'm just going to change a
- 36:22Speaker 5: couple of things. And I'm you know, I had people
- 36:24Speaker 5: in from Vegas, I had people in from La already
- 36:27Speaker 5: on set, and I had to change the script. And
- 36:30Speaker 5: but I did it. The movie premieres tonight. It's like
- 36:33Speaker 5: it's out there. It's gonna come to DVD later this year.
- 36:36Speaker 4: And I mean, wow, that.
- 36:37Speaker 5: Was one of the craziest experience in film ever to
- 36:40Speaker 5: have like a lead, you know, not be there and
- 36:42Speaker 5: then me have to just kind of rework everything at
- 36:45Speaker 5: the last minute. And it definitely worked out for the better.
- 36:48Speaker 5: So it's one of those moments, Yeah, you just got
- 36:52Speaker 5: a nut up and figure out, you know, what are
- 36:53Speaker 5: you going to do this? Are you not going to
- 36:55Speaker 5: do it? Pick a direction and go and and mine
- 36:57Speaker 5: was go make a movie.
- 36:58Speaker 3: So yeah, and and usually lend that is the best
- 37:01Speaker 3: option to go with, is you know what, you got
- 37:03Speaker 3: to put your head down and just keep going forward
- 37:06Speaker 3: because you know a lot at the time, it is
- 37:09Speaker 3: the right decision, you know, because it's better to make
- 37:11Speaker 3: it than not make it right. So and so, as
- 37:14Speaker 3: we talked about Hellcats Revenge, could could you just give
- 37:16Speaker 3: me a you know, give everyone a log line about
- 37:19Speaker 3: the film?
- 37:20Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, yeah.
- 37:21Speaker 5: Basically, Hellcats Revenge is your your kind of biker revenge movie.
- 37:26Speaker 5: I mean, you're not going to get some kind of complex,
- 37:29Speaker 5: you know, seven ish story out out of it or
- 37:31Speaker 5: something like that.
- 37:32Speaker 4: I mean, it's pretty straightforward.
- 37:34Speaker 5: H biker leader of a female gang is killed and
- 37:37Speaker 5: so her her hellcats if you wear her gang writing
- 37:42Speaker 5: club or whatever you want to call them, kind of
- 37:43Speaker 5: go out and try to find out who killed her,
- 37:45Speaker 5: and they end up coming up against a criminal gang
- 37:48Speaker 5: called the Vipers and.
- 37:50Speaker 4: They kind of go at it kind of thing.
- 37:51Speaker 5: So it's a female gang versus a male biker gang
- 37:54Speaker 5: in the film. And then there's kind of some like
- 37:56Speaker 5: fence sitting shady characters that kind of kind of play
- 37:59Speaker 5: bow both sides there. But yeah, it's not an all
- 38:04Speaker 5: out martial art film. There is some fight scenes obviously
- 38:06Speaker 5: in it, and stuff like that. It moves along at
- 38:08Speaker 5: a pretty good pace. It's like an hour and twenty minutes,
- 38:10Speaker 5: I think, so I was pretty pleased with the run
- 38:13Speaker 5: time and all that kind of stuff, So I think
- 38:15Speaker 5: it moves along good. We had an Osmo camera for
- 38:19Speaker 5: this one, so we have some really cool steady tracking
- 38:21Speaker 5: shots and those kinds of things. The Osmo camera was wonderful,
- 38:26Speaker 5: so I think, I think what people will see is
- 38:27Speaker 5: increase production values, just even stepping up from like Angel
- 38:31Speaker 5: of Reckoning, So I think they'll see those kind of
- 38:34Speaker 5: productions like lighting and all those kinds of things. Sound,
- 38:38Speaker 5: we adr'd a lot of stuff in it, so we
- 38:40Speaker 5: wanted to make sure because that's a common problem, especially
- 38:43Speaker 5: micro indie stuff, is lighting and sound are the two
- 38:46Speaker 5: big things that you know usually need the most work
- 38:49Speaker 5: or end up sucking. So we try to really and
- 38:53Speaker 5: we did that with Angel of Reckoning too, but even
- 38:55Speaker 5: Hellcat's Revenge even more so that we wanted to, you know,
- 38:58Speaker 5: if we had the ADR stuff, it is what it is.
- 39:01Speaker 5: Let's just make it the best, you know that we can.
- 39:03Speaker 5: And so yeah, it's just a crazy little action picture.
- 39:07Speaker 5: There's a lot of guns, few fight scenes, some hot chicks.
- 39:09Speaker 4: That kind of thing.
- 39:10Speaker 5: So I hope people enjoy it. It continues my trend
- 39:13Speaker 5: of like action movies without being martial art movies. But
- 39:16Speaker 5: that being said, you kind of mentioned this briefly, and
- 39:18Speaker 5: I'll touch on it now real quick. Is I've got
- 39:21Speaker 5: Actually we'll backtrack to Hellcats one second here. I've had
- 39:24Speaker 5: a lot of especially like red letter media fans and
- 39:26Speaker 5: stuff like that, messaged me that Len, when are you
- 39:29Speaker 5: going back to doing like a lead type role, because they,
- 39:32Speaker 5: for whatever reason, like when I'm I'm acting and doing
- 39:34Speaker 5: that kind of stuff, And for the last couple of pictures,
- 39:37Speaker 5: I really haven't been. But for those that want to
- 39:39Speaker 5: see me in a lead type role Hellcats avengel Be
- 39:42Speaker 5: or movie, I play the character Snake in the movie,
- 39:45Speaker 5: who is like the lead villain type character. So for
- 39:48Speaker 5: those that want to see me in a lead role
- 39:50Speaker 5: Hellcat's revengel Be or Movie, it's Lisa Nield, Playboy cover model.
- 39:54Speaker 5: Lisa Neild plays the Cat, the leader of the Hellcats,
- 39:58Speaker 5: and I play Snake, the leader of the.
- 40:00Speaker 1: So we'll be right back after a word from our sponsor,
- 40:08Speaker 1: and now back to the show.
- 40:11Speaker 5: For those that want to see me in a lead role,
- 40:12Speaker 5: that's the Hellcats is your movie. But that's a question
- 40:16Speaker 5: I got was when when you do an a lead
- 40:18Speaker 5: role again? So there's the answer to that. And then
- 40:20Speaker 5: the other question I get a lot is lend your
- 40:22Speaker 5: last couple of movies like Angel of Reckoning for example,
- 40:26Speaker 5: art really martial art movies. When are you going to
- 40:28Speaker 5: do your martial art movie? Well, that's coming next year.
- 40:32Speaker 5: I'm writing now a movie called Challenge of Five Gauntlets,
- 40:35Speaker 5: which is a all out.
- 40:37Speaker 4: Martial art picture.
- 40:38Speaker 5: It is done in the vein of stuff I really
- 40:40Speaker 5: love in the seventies like Shaw Brothers Studio, martial art
- 40:42Speaker 5: pictures or.
- 40:43Speaker 4: Kung fu movies, those kinds of things.
- 40:46Speaker 5: Got a Challenge of Five Gauntlets will be in that style.
- 40:49Speaker 5: So it will be my first all out, you know,
- 40:52Speaker 5: martial art picture. There is no vampire, zombies, you know whatever,
- 40:57Speaker 5: none of that is in it. It's all it's in
- 40:59Speaker 5: all out kung fu pickure. So and that starts filming
- 41:02Speaker 5: next next sprint.
- 41:03Speaker 3: And I know you mentioned that there's a certain somebody
- 41:06Speaker 3: from real Letter Media who's going to play the the
- 41:09Speaker 3: wise old kung fu master.
- 41:11Speaker 4: I'm hoping that happens.
- 41:14Speaker 5: If it doesn't, you know, It's not like I'm not
- 41:16Speaker 5: doing the film or whatever, but I thought it would
- 41:18Speaker 5: be funny, you know, if that happens. It's not a
- 41:21Speaker 5: comedy film obviously, but if it happens, I think it'll
- 41:24Speaker 5: be really funny for the fans. If not, and they're
- 41:27Speaker 5: still interested in checking it out, they're gonna get what
- 41:29Speaker 5: they want out of me. They're gonna get that all
- 41:32Speaker 5: out martial art, you know picture. So even now I'm
- 41:35Speaker 5: currently as i'm writing it, I'm studying a lot of
- 41:38Speaker 5: fight scenes from that area, really studying the choreography and things.
- 41:43Speaker 5: Not so much to like rip off things, because that's
- 41:45Speaker 5: really not my deal. It's more to like understand, like
- 41:49Speaker 5: in a Shaw Brothers fight scene and challenge if I
- 41:51Speaker 5: or challenge in Five Element Ninjas. You know, here's this
- 41:56Speaker 5: big fight scene, how many moves do they go with
- 41:58Speaker 5: before cutting and switching an angle or doing stuff like that.
- 42:02Speaker 5: So really trying to like see how the fight scenes
- 42:04Speaker 5: are in those films, and really I'm going to try
- 42:06Speaker 5: to mold my fight scenes in a similar fashion.
- 42:10Speaker 3: And that's awesome line because again, you know you're a
- 42:12Speaker 3: big martial arts fan, you're a martial art yourself, you know,
- 42:15Speaker 3: I've read about your background. I know you've done a
- 42:17Speaker 3: lot of taekwondo, a lot of pangs sudo you know,
- 42:21Speaker 3: and that's awesome when you can bring that to through
- 42:22Speaker 3: the to the films. You know, you do fight choreography,
- 42:26Speaker 3: and I actually can't wait to see challenge with the
- 42:28Speaker 3: five goal. Let's and see what you do with it.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's I'm excited to do an all out
- 42:34Speaker 4: martial art picture. I really am.
- 42:35Speaker 5: Because now when it comes time for distribution, you know,
- 42:37Speaker 5: back in as we mentioned mini DV booming and the
- 42:41Speaker 5: early micro horror type stuff coming about. Now I don't
- 42:45Speaker 5: need to play to anything. I can just do a film.
- 42:47Speaker 5: And you know, I realized a couple of films ago,
- 42:50Speaker 5: and I try to be a humble guy about things,
- 42:52Speaker 5: but so I never see myself as somebody like this
- 42:55Speaker 5: popular star type person.
- 42:57Speaker 4: It's just not myself.
- 42:58Speaker 5: But but now people seem to want to watch my
- 43:01Speaker 5: films for me and not for you know, a certain
- 43:04Speaker 5: actor I put in them or whatever, you know what
- 43:06Speaker 5: I mean. So that kind of allowed me the freedom
- 43:10Speaker 5: to go kind of go out and make you know,
- 43:11Speaker 5: gauntlets here and say, you know what, I don't have
- 43:14Speaker 5: to worry about trying to get a gimmicky name or
- 43:16Speaker 5: do something like that. And I can go out and
- 43:18Speaker 5: be myself now and people will watch it for me
- 43:20Speaker 5: and I don't have to worry about trying to draw
- 43:22Speaker 5: them in with something else.
- 43:23Speaker 3: So yeah, and you know, I found that too, Len,
- 43:27Speaker 3: because when I was showing I think Swamp Zombies took
- 43:29Speaker 3: a few people. They actually were like, hey, where's lenn Att.
- 43:31Speaker 3: They actually and I'm not just saying next, I'm all,
- 43:33Speaker 3: you know, doing this interview with you, but I'm dead serious.
- 43:36Speaker 3: They were like, you know, they they always felt that
- 43:38Speaker 3: the movie really, you know, quote unquote came alive, you know,
- 43:41Speaker 3: when you were on screen, So you know, honestly, and
- 43:44Speaker 3: that that works well honestly, Len, because just like you said,
- 43:47Speaker 3: you can actually focus on Hey, look, you know what
- 43:49Speaker 3: I'm in the movie. It's just me. You know, people
- 43:51Speaker 3: want to watch for you, and you don't have to
- 43:53Speaker 3: you know, you know, do anything, you know, you know
- 43:55Speaker 3: what I mean, And that that's a great advantage to have.
- 43:58Speaker 5: Yeah, and and come to challenge off, I've let's there.
- 44:00Speaker 5: I will not disappoint them. I am the lead character
- 44:02Speaker 5: in it. I don't know how many lead roles I
- 44:04Speaker 5: got in me anymore. I mean, I would like to
- 44:06Speaker 5: stay behind the camera more, much like I did for
- 44:09Speaker 5: Angel of Reckoning, which I got a lot of love
- 44:11Speaker 5: for that film. I think it turned out pretty well
- 44:13Speaker 5: for you know, that kind of thing. But you know,
- 44:15Speaker 5: even going back, as I've had to close caption my
- 44:18Speaker 5: films from the Amazon Prime, I've really been living a
- 44:21Speaker 5: lot with the movies like Swam Zombies and Curse of
- 44:23Speaker 5: the Wolf and Fist of the Vampire lately. And I'll
- 44:25Speaker 5: say this though, for Fist of the Vampire, I was
- 44:28Speaker 5: you know, I would put that movie up against a
- 44:31Speaker 5: lot of micro INDI stuff being made today, and Fist
- 44:34Speaker 5: of the Vampire is ten years old now, so there's
- 44:38Speaker 5: I still think there's some good stuff in there. You know,
- 44:40Speaker 5: Swam Zombies, Curse of the Wolf, there's a lot of
- 44:41Speaker 5: growing pains. But but this I think has some some
- 44:44Speaker 5: decent stuff in it still that that can translate to
- 44:46Speaker 5: today's micro filmmaking world.
- 44:49Speaker 3: So oh yeah, yeah, absolutely. I mean, you know, you know,
- 44:54Speaker 3: just as we as we all grow and we all
- 44:55Speaker 3: do our different films, we see different things happening, and
- 44:58Speaker 3: in this world that we're in is constantly changing, you know,
- 45:01Speaker 3: there's constantly new technology coming out, there's constantly new distribution realms.
- 45:06Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, hell, in two thousand and six,
- 45:08Speaker 3: for First of the Vampire or twousand and seven, Amazon
- 45:10Speaker 3: Prime was even a thing, right, you know what I mean.
- 45:12Speaker 3: It's it's like now, all of a sudden, you know,
- 45:14Speaker 3: there's a there's an article friend of mine wrote. He goes,
- 45:17Speaker 3: if you're an indie filmmaker today, what's better YouTube or
- 45:20Speaker 3: Amazon Prime? You know which one is going to help
- 45:23Speaker 3: the filmmakers more? And at the end of the article,
- 45:25Speaker 3: you know, spoiler alert, he picks Amazon Prime and yeah,
- 45:29Speaker 3: and he feels that that's much better because YouTube has
- 45:32Speaker 3: a lot of different selections of like, hey watch me
- 45:34Speaker 3: play video games, Hey watch me you know, practice guitar. Well,
- 45:38Speaker 3: if you're on Amazon Prime, it's there to watch movies
- 45:40Speaker 3: exactly right, You're just there to watch movies.
- 45:43Speaker 4: Yeah, that's smart.
- 45:44Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, there is no you know, music whatever that.
- 45:48Speaker 5: I mean, YouTube can be anything. It'd be some I'm
- 45:51Speaker 5: not playing with his dog in the backyard or whatever.
- 45:53Speaker 5: But I mean when you're in Amazon, right, you're there
- 45:55Speaker 5: to watch movies. So yeah, I think that's a good
- 45:59Speaker 5: way to go. And I think I'm going to go
- 46:00Speaker 5: that route when I've got a movie called blood Prism
- 46:03Speaker 5: coming out that's going to wrap in probably two months here.
- 46:06Speaker 5: And that is another one though, where again fans might
- 46:09Speaker 5: see it and be like, ah, man, where's Len, Because
- 46:11Speaker 5: I am not in the movie. I just I wrote,
- 46:13Speaker 5: I co wrote and direct it. It is a dark comedy.
- 46:16Speaker 5: There is no action fight scene type stuff in it.
- 46:19Speaker 5: It's a dark comedy film. But I also with that
- 46:21Speaker 5: want to show people, I mean, if they check it out,
- 46:23Speaker 5: it's a you know, I'm not a one trick type thing.
- 46:27Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, I love martial art films and stuff
- 46:29Speaker 5: like that. I love micro horror movies and stuff. But
- 46:31Speaker 5: I also want to show that I'm not old school
- 46:33Speaker 5: or new school. I want to be all school. So
- 46:36Speaker 5: and that's what I'm trying to kind of prove to
- 46:39Speaker 5: people in Blood Prism. So hopefully they'll check it out.
- 46:41Speaker 5: But it's a very very very different, different movie.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm gonna make sure to link to all
- 46:47Speaker 3: your stuff in the show notes.
- 46:48Speaker 4: Len.
- 46:49Speaker 3: You know, I know we've been talking for about forty
- 46:50Speaker 3: five minutes now. I know, you know we're running out
- 46:53Speaker 3: of times. I know you have a you know, you
- 46:54Speaker 3: want to you have a couple of things to do
- 46:55Speaker 3: before the premiere tonight, So len just in closing, just
- 46:58Speaker 3: to sort of wrap up everything. Is there any thing
- 47:00Speaker 3: that we can get a chance to talk about that
- 47:01Speaker 3: maybe you want to talk about right now, or anything
- 47:03Speaker 3: you want to sort of say, just to put a
- 47:05Speaker 3: period at them this whole conversation.
- 47:08Speaker 5: Just to check out, Like, we just started a Patreon page.
- 47:12Speaker 5: It's only a two dollar we just have a two
- 47:14Speaker 5: dollars level. It's a patreon dot com slash Killer Wolf
- 47:18Speaker 5: Films if you want to check it out. I feel
- 47:19Speaker 5: new content every month, So it's not like you're giving
- 47:21Speaker 5: me two dollars and it just sits there or whatever.
- 47:24Speaker 5: I really just only kept it at that level. It's
- 47:26Speaker 5: not really more than that. It's a you know, it's
- 47:30Speaker 5: not a cash grab type type thing for me. It's like, hey,
- 47:33Speaker 5: you know, help me get lights or a camera, get
- 47:36Speaker 5: a stunt man or something like that in by by
- 47:38Speaker 5: you know, joining our patreon. So so we did start
- 47:41Speaker 5: the Patreon campaign there. I'm on Twitter, Twitter dot com
- 47:44Speaker 5: slash Sparical Films or you can pit me up at Facebook.
- 47:47Speaker 5: I'm out of like friends things now, So you can't
- 47:50Speaker 5: friend me because it won't let me. I guess I'm
- 47:52Speaker 5: at a limit or something like that, but you know whatever,
- 47:55Speaker 5: that's stupid. But yeah, they put a limit on your friends.
- 47:59Speaker 4: So that's very uh whatever.
- 48:02Speaker 5: That seems like communistic almost, But yeah, you have a
- 48:05Speaker 5: cap on the number of friends you can have. But
- 48:07Speaker 5: check me out at Facebook dot com. It's slash len
- 48:10Speaker 5: dot Coposinski or Killer Wolf's Films.
- 48:13Speaker 4: Is on there too.
- 48:14Speaker 5: But yeah, there's those new things I'm doing now. There's
- 48:18Speaker 5: so many new things coming out as Swamp Zombies, Curse
- 48:21Speaker 5: of the Wolf, is the Vampire, They're all coming back
- 48:23Speaker 5: to DVD. They're out of print now. I'm working hard
- 48:26Speaker 5: on them now to get them back out there. Like
- 48:29Speaker 5: I said, Swamp Zombies will probably be first up and
- 48:31Speaker 5: it should be out by October first, I would imagine.
- 48:34Speaker 5: So there's those things. Hellcat's Revenge should be on DVD
- 48:37Speaker 5: by the end of the year, coming from Worldwide Multimedia.
- 48:40Speaker 5: Blood Prism Again is another brand new movie that I
- 48:43Speaker 5: just got done shooting a few months ago that should
- 48:46Speaker 5: be out by the end of the year on DVD.
- 48:49Speaker 5: And then Challenge of Five Gauntlets I'm writing, but also
- 48:51Speaker 5: something that kind of fell into my lap within the
- 48:54Speaker 5: last week or two.
- 48:55Speaker 4: Here was a sequel to.
- 48:56Speaker 5: Swamp Zombies, which I know we didn't get to talk
- 48:59Speaker 5: about much, that might start, That could start shooting as
- 49:03Speaker 5: soon as a month away, and that's filming in the
- 49:05Speaker 5: Philadelphia area there, so swam Zombies two would happen. It's
- 49:10Speaker 5: kind of a running Man mixed with Survivor mixed with
- 49:15Speaker 5: a zombie movie type story. So Newt Whalen, who owns
- 49:19Speaker 5: a theater in Philly there, he actually wrote the script
- 49:22Speaker 5: and I was kind of just kind of changing and
- 49:24Speaker 5: picking at things with them there. It's a really cool story.
- 49:27Speaker 5: So I hope the ball gets rolling on that and
- 49:29Speaker 5: it'll continue my stuff. Like like I said, swam Zombies too.
- 49:33Speaker 5: With a name like Swan Zombies, you are not expecting
- 49:35Speaker 5: to get gone with the wind type stuff there. But
- 49:38Speaker 5: you know it's I told him that, you know, much
- 49:41Speaker 5: like I told Red Letter Media when we were kind
- 49:43Speaker 5: of talking about a Bite of the Mummy picture. Is
- 49:47Speaker 5: you know, I'm still Len. I'll still be Len, But
- 49:49Speaker 5: at the same time, the swam Zombie production kind of
- 49:52Speaker 5: Len is long gone, you know what I mean. I'm
- 49:54Speaker 5: not interested in not.
- 49:57Speaker 1: We'll be right back after a word from our sponsor,
- 50:03Speaker 1: and now back to the.
- 50:04Speaker 5: Show getting better with lighting and sound and those kinds
- 50:08Speaker 5: of things. So if you want that more shittier level
- 50:11Speaker 5: of production, I'm not interested in going backwards. I just
- 50:14Speaker 5: want to, you know, I want to continue my trend
- 50:16Speaker 5: of getting better at those things. So as long as
- 50:18Speaker 5: they were cool with that, I was cool with that.
- 50:21Speaker 5: I still love trauma movies. Swamp Zombies two will still
- 50:23Speaker 5: be that campy, trauma ish kind of movie, but yet
- 50:27Speaker 5: still have really good lighting and good sound in those
- 50:29Speaker 5: kinds of things. So I hope everybody can check it out,
- 50:32Speaker 5: drop by my Patreon, or hit me up on Twitter
- 50:34Speaker 5: or whatever. So I try to be super interactive with
- 50:37Speaker 5: the fans. You know, I get dinged every time somebody
- 50:40Speaker 5: sends me a message.
- 50:41Speaker 4: So it takes me. You know.
- 50:42Speaker 5: They're like, Len, you must not have anything to do
- 50:44Speaker 5: if you're responding to all these fans, and I'm like, no,
- 50:46Speaker 5: it's not that. It's just it takes me ten seconds,
- 50:48Speaker 5: if not less, to just drop by and say hey,
- 50:50Speaker 5: thanks for watching my.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Stuff or whatever.
- 50:52Speaker 5: So I appreciate everybody that's kind of supported Killerble Films
- 50:57Speaker 5: through the years. Here and like you said, it started
- 50:59Speaker 5: in two thousand when I started writing Swamp Zombies, and
- 51:02Speaker 5: we're in the twenty seventeen now, and you know, much
- 51:05Speaker 5: like I said before, I'm still here, so I'm not
- 51:08Speaker 5: going anywhere, So jump on board.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Len Kabazinski. I want to say, man, it's been an
- 51:12Speaker 3: absolute blast talking with you.
- 51:14Speaker 4: Thanks for having me on any time.
- 51:16Speaker 5: As we get closer to other, you know, newer releases
- 51:18Speaker 5: I have towards the end of the year or whatever,
- 51:20Speaker 5: let's do it again, brother.
- 51:22Speaker 3: You know what, Len, I love to have you back
- 51:23Speaker 3: on any time.
- 51:24Speaker 4: Man.
- 51:24Speaker 3: You know, you and I could talk all day about
- 51:26Speaker 3: this stuff. Oh you talk about old movies too, Oh yeah.
- 51:29Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, I'm a wealth of stuff.
- 51:32Speaker 5: And speaking of that, just quickly on the Patreon page,
- 51:35Speaker 5: I have a Len's Forgotten movie den where I talk
- 51:37Speaker 5: a lot about directive video maybe films you haven't heard of.
- 51:41Speaker 5: Usually it's a lot of like eighties films or early
- 51:44Speaker 5: nineties films, but I talked about movies like Overkill with
- 51:46Speaker 5: Aaron Norris, or I talk about Georgia Vera's Fist Fighter,
- 51:49Speaker 5: a movie I adore from the eighties. So yeah, just
- 51:52Speaker 5: just on a tangent there about talking about movies all day.
- 51:55Speaker 5: I try to do that, and I pick a film
- 51:56Speaker 5: each month to try to bring to your attention. I
- 51:58Speaker 5: don't critique them or anything. I just kind of say, hey,
- 52:01Speaker 5: there's this movie I really love. You should check it
- 52:02Speaker 5: out kind of things. So again, thanks for having me, Man,
- 52:05Speaker 5: and enjoy your Sunday.
- 52:06Speaker 3: You too, Lennon, and I wish you the best of
- 52:08Speaker 3: luck with Hell Ofcat Revenge and now all the other
- 52:10Speaker 3: things you got going on. So I wish you, but
- 52:11Speaker 3: I know the premieres tonight, so I wanted to focus
- 52:13Speaker 3: on that, So best of luck with that, my friend.
- 52:16Speaker 4: Thanks a lot, Man, take care.
- 52:19Speaker 1: I want to thank Dave so much for doing such
- 52:20Speaker 1: a great job on this episode. If you want to
- 52:22Speaker 1: get links to anything we spoke about in this episode,
- 52:24Speaker 1: head over to the show notes at Bulletproof Screenwriting dot tv.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Forward slash for forty two. Thank you so much for
- 52:30Speaker 1: listening to guys. As always, keep on writing no matter what.
- 52:34Speaker 1: I'll talk to you soon.
