- 0:23chickens. Hey, good morning.
- 0:28From the chicken coop, everybody So today I want to talk to you
- 0:32about time and the specific angle on time today.
- 0:36The Buddha is quoted as having said, the problem is, you think
- 0:40you have time? Such a hard phrase to here,
- 0:43right? The problem is you think you
- 0:45have time? And in the big scheme of things,
- 0:49we all believe we have time to do the things we want to do.
- 0:52We all believe that we are going to have the time to take the
- 0:55vacation by the RV. Go on the trip.
- 0:59Write the book. Look, you know, have the kids
- 1:02get the dog, do whatever it is that we might want to do, but
- 1:06really do we have time. And the question that this is a
- 1:11very big question for you to contemplate today is all,
- 1:17really, it comes down to, what are you putting your focus on
- 1:20and if something is truly important to you, are you making
- 1:23the time in your life for it? Because, none of us are here for
- 1:27a guaranteed amount of time. Now, them, none of us, know when
- 1:30Expiration date is even those that have been told they have an
- 1:33expiration date. Don't necessarily know if that's
- 1:36true and it doesn't mean that it will be true.
- 1:38Just because another human says, it does not make it true.
- 1:42And we get very hung up on the fact that we will put things off
- 1:47and put things off and put things off because we are
- 1:50dealing with minutiae. We are dealing with things that
- 1:53are you know everyday stuff like doing laundry and cleaning and
- 1:59you know, taking care of Paying bills and doing all the crazy
- 2:02stuff that humans have to do in our daily lives to quote,
- 2:07unquote survive, and those things end up eating us up and
- 2:11they take up our mental space. They take up our capacity and
- 2:15put us in a place of just mostly overwhelmed because there's so
- 2:19many of those menial tasks around us all the time that we
- 2:22forget about the stuff that is on, maybe the bucket list, maybe
- 2:27you call it the bucket list, maybe you don't, I don't have a
- 2:29bucket list. I have definitely I have a list
- 2:33of things that will be done in my lifetime and planning them
- 2:39all out. And the challenge we have is we
- 2:43think we have time and we put them off.
- 2:45And we say well, I'll get to that next year or I will get to
- 2:48that in a five years and we put things on a spectrum.
- 2:53Assuming we will have all this time and the reality is we don't
- 2:59we don't have all this time. My life goes by very quickly,
- 3:03anybody who has gone from the age of 25 to 50 understands how
- 3:09quickly life goes by. That feels that span of time in
- 3:13digits. It seems like a long time.
- 3:16But their truth, is it goes by in a heartbeat, it goes by.
- 3:20When you see it, you know, you're all of a sudden your kids
- 3:23that you had when you were in your 20s are now in their 20s.
- 3:26And you're going, holy cow. How did this happen?
- 3:29And Are being presented with the fact that they're having
- 3:32children and you're going to be a grandparent.
- 3:34You're like, how can I be a grandparent?
- 3:36I still feel like I'm a kid and there's this shock in you that
- 3:41said oh my gosh and even if you're not think about the time
- 3:44even if you're young and you're listening to this think about
- 3:46the time you were in high school to now that you're in your 20s
- 3:50that is a chunk of time and it feels like it went by just in a
- 3:53snap of a finger. So this this concept of time
- 3:58that we have it screws with us, It makes us think.
- 4:02Oh yeah, I'll get to it. I'll get to it, I'll get to it.
- 4:05But the reason I wanted to have this conversation with you today
- 4:08is the exact reason why I'm out here in the chicken coop
- 4:11recording. Because I had put this off and
- 4:14put this off and put this off. And I ran into this quote, in
- 4:19one of my books. I have it written down multiple
- 4:21times throughout my journals, my notebooks, everything.
- 4:25The problem is, you think you have time?
- 4:26The problem is, you think you have time?
- 4:28And I've always been heavily. Moved by the quote, over the
- 4:32years, I've done things, I've taken trips, I've jumped into
- 4:36jobs and done stuff that people thought were absolutely insane
- 4:41going to work for Tony Robbins and giving up advertising and
- 4:43everything else. Everyone thought, what are you
- 4:45doing? It was based around this.
- 4:48The problem is you think you have time because I lost my dad
- 4:52when he was 57 years old. And to me he was so young and he
- 4:57said, you know, when he was he knew he was ill.
- 5:00He said, well, I've had a really great life and I can't imagine,
- 5:05I can't imagine what that must have felt like, because I still
- 5:10feel like I have so much to do and I can't believe that.
- 5:15Now, at that age I'm sitting there going, holy cow, I can't
- 5:19imagine what he must have felt like because I feel like I have
- 5:22so much more that I want to do. So when I come back to this
- 5:26whole thing, the problem is, you think you have time now?
- 5:29I recognize Don't. So this was one of these things
- 5:32that I had talked about doing having chickens.
- 5:35They Major Force in my life to that happiness, and having a
- 5:40having them just be a part of my everyday life again and I made
- 5:45it happen and when it came up to doing that the podcast and I had
- 5:49talked about doing it for so long, as I've said another
- 5:52podcast, this was my natural like it just went off and it was
- 5:56like a natural Bells going off and saying, yes, this is it go.
- 5:59Do it in the Chicken Coop and ever since I made the decision
- 6:03it's been every single day since then and I have not regretted it
- 6:07at all but it put me in a place where I had to think about well
- 6:12if you're not going to do it now or when are you going to do it?
- 6:15Because the problem is you think you have time so you either make
- 6:19the time or you sit there and think about when will it be
- 6:22time? And I think that's the conundrum
- 6:25that you have to ponder today if you're not going to do it, when
- 6:28will you do it? When will you make the Time
- 6:31because time goes by quickly and the problem is we think we have
- 6:34lots of it and we don't. So if there are things that just
- 6:38you've always wanted to do and there are things that you've
- 6:41always wanted to experience. And there are things that you've
- 6:43always wanted to say, you tried, even if it's sitting down and
- 6:47doing something as solo is writing a book, whatever it
- 6:50might be, you have to make the choice to say, now is the time
- 6:55and make those things happen because if you wait for the time
- 7:00to show, Oh up, I promise you, it won't.
- 7:02It's just like, there's never a good time to have a kid or buy a
- 7:04house or get a puppy, whatever it might be it.
- 7:08This is all about what you put your focus on in your intent.
- 7:11So don't go down the road of constantly being under the
- 7:14illusion that you think you have time because it's not promised
- 7:17to anybody. So figure out what special to
- 7:21you and make sure you understand that I want to do this because
- 7:26it's important to me and I'm going to make the time, I'm not
- 7:28just going to wait for the time. Hope you guys have a blessed day
- 7:31and I will see you tomorrow. Bye.
