- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning From the porch, can you hear all
- 0:31those bugs in the background? Just it's amazing the frogs, the
- 0:36bugs, it's just awesome. Anyway, today we are talking
- 0:41about Goldilocks and the three bears.
- 0:43Do you remember the story of, you know, how she breaks into
- 0:46the Bears house and she's eating porridge and it's too hot, too
- 0:50cold, just right. The bed is too hard, too soft,
- 0:53just right? You go through this whole thing
- 0:55about, you know, she's looking for what's just right.
- 0:58Well, isn't it funny? I mean, first of all, the story
- 1:01is reprehensible. She breaks into the Bears house.
- 1:04Let's not even go there and they're giving this to us as a
- 1:07children's book. I mean, we think of it as a
- 1:09children's books, but it really was a a tale for everyone
- 1:13because, you know, hundreds and hundreds of years ago, those
- 1:16were meant to be learning stories, not just for children,
- 1:21but for adults. So anyway, back to the what's at
- 1:24hand. This is such a great thing when
- 1:29you really stop other than the the break in thinking about
- 1:32she's seeking what's right and she doesn't stop.
- 1:34She doesn't get the porridge delivered to her and it's too
- 1:38cold and she says, OK, I'll just eat it anyway or it's too hot
- 1:42and she says, let me just burn my mouth.
- 1:44She's she keeps seeking and a big part of the metaphor in this
- 1:49is that we as human beings seek out what's just right, or we at
- 1:53least used to until we believed we were.
- 1:57We've been taught that we we must just, you know, suck it up.
- 2:01This is a suck it up Princess moment or whatever you like to
- 2:05say for it. For me, I I can still make do
- 2:11with what's there, but it doesn't mean I'm not seeking.
- 2:14I will make the best out of what I've been handed.
- 2:17However, I'm going to keep seeking.
- 2:19And sometimes this creates problems because people say, oh,
- 2:23well, can't you just be happy with what you have?
- 2:25And I always find that phrase so interesting because I'm like,
- 2:30well, I am always happy somewhere inside of me.
- 2:34But at the same time, let me be very clear, I'm always seeking
- 2:38out other things. I am definitely seeking out
- 2:41other things. I'm always seeking to grow,
- 2:43expand. What else can I do?
- 2:45What else can I incorporate? How else can this show up?
- 2:48Because it's just my hardwiring. It's just who I am, so, and it's
- 2:52who we all are. Somewhere inside of us, we are
- 2:55all that way. We all want to achieve more and
- 2:59we all want to. And I don't care if it's more of
- 3:02a nap, OK? Like, think about this.
- 3:05We are wired for expansion and we have to accept that we are
- 3:10wired for expansion. And that doesn't always mean our
- 3:12waistline. What it means is that we have to
- 3:16really consider what's right for us, what has to happen for us to
- 3:19thrive. And in the, you know, in the
- 3:22world of Goldilocks, she was seeking it out.
- 3:24She was thinking, OK, this porridge is not going to make me
- 3:27thrive. This bed is not going to make me
- 3:28thrive. So we end up, you know, going on
- 3:32and doing other things, looking and trying to find it.
- 3:37And in that process of doing that, we, we really have to
- 3:40remember that, you know, as human beings, it's it, it's our
- 3:46awareness that helps us more than anything.
- 3:48When we are ultimately aware, we can reduce all the things that
- 3:53we don't like, like the stress, the, the, the anxieties.
- 3:57We can pull those back because we're going to be motivated by
- 4:00that to to seek out that thing that has us thrive.
- 4:04But in the process, we want to make sure we're moment to
- 4:07moment. We're we're paying close
- 4:09attention because why go way off?
- 4:11You've heard me say that a million times, but the story of
- 4:13Goldilocks just really exemplifies the fact that on the
- 4:20smallest of small things, we can do this.
- 4:22We don't have to settle in those moments in and have it be
- 4:27something that is so far out and we don't have to suck it up in
- 4:32those small moments. If the if the burger that you
- 4:35ordered isn't good, send it back and say I'm sorry this isn't
- 4:39right and don't sit there and suck it up.
- 4:42If you can not fix it, fix it quickly because you know, beyond
- 4:47all of the, the crap that happens everyday to us is what
- 4:51we take home with it. That anxiety, the crappy, you
- 4:54know, stories that we're taking and talking about, all of that,
- 4:58that leads to other things. It shifts our beliefs.
- 5:01So when we clean them up when they're small, we have a better
- 5:03chance of reaching and attaining those other moments.
- 5:06So just remember living intentionally and thinking about
- 5:10what it has to happen for you to thrive, what you're going to do,
- 5:13changing those small things, they all add up to big outcomes.
- 5:17All right, my friends, I hope you have a Goldilocks kind of
- 5:19day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:22Bye.
