Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. We got some heat in Texas,
- 0:07Speaker 1: and I don't mean the weather. Did you see the
- 0:09Speaker 1: Washington Times article today Senator John Cornyn, the establishment senator,
- 0:15Speaker 1: the longtime senator, moderate senator, warning the GOP of election
- 0:20Speaker 1: day massacre if current Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is
- 0:24Speaker 1: running for that Senate seat against Cornyn, wins. But here's
- 0:28Speaker 1: where it gets spicy. If the Attorney General is at
- 0:32Speaker 1: the top, at the top of the ballot, which where
- 0:34Speaker 1: the Senate states will be, we will have an election
- 0:36Speaker 1: day massacre, Senator Cornyn said at a campaign stop with
- 0:40Speaker 1: actually former Governor Rick Perry. Republicans up and down the
- 0:44Speaker 1: ticket will pay the price of having an albatross like
- 0:49Speaker 1: the corrupt attorney general hung around around their neck. Now,
- 0:54Speaker 1: this guy is always a mild managed senator. I mean
- 0:57Speaker 1: he's very very and he's soft spoken, and he's decent
- 1:03Speaker 1: and whatever. But holy cow, I know him in New
- 1:08Speaker 1: York City. But I could not ignore this headline because
- 1:11Speaker 1: the infighting in Texas will lead to I guess this
- 1:16Speaker 1: tall Rico or Jasmine Crockett turning Texas blue. And I
- 1:20Speaker 1: think it's fascinating and it just if you've ever seen
- 1:24Speaker 1: Fox News or seeing End and you see John Corny,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and you know, this guy is a very very mild,
- 1:29Speaker 1: minor guy. So for him to fight like hell with
- 1:32Speaker 1: this to preserve his seat in the primary and beat Paxton,
- 1:36Speaker 1: who is popular, I mean, Ken Paxton is a very
- 1:41Speaker 1: popular person in Texas and he's always kind of been
- 1:49Speaker 1: abas right hand guy and everything like that. So this
- 1:52Speaker 1: is a big deal that corn is trying to save
- 1:55Speaker 1: a seat. And by the way, if he loses to Paxton,
- 2:03Speaker 1: Cornyn says that the Republicans would lose the seat, giving
- 2:07Speaker 1: Democrats their first statewide win since nineteen ninety four, and
- 2:11Speaker 1: drag down Congressional candidates that could jeopardize the Houses to
- 2:16Speaker 1: euopia majority and boost the chances a new Democrat House
- 2:19Speaker 1: led would impeach Trump and block his agenda. Now, that's
- 2:24Speaker 1: what I think is gonna happen. Whether I'm in favor
- 2:27Speaker 1: of that or not, I won't to opine on that part.
- 2:31Speaker 1: But I do believe if the Democrats get hold of
- 2:35Speaker 1: both the House and the Senate in twenty twenty six,
- 2:39Speaker 1: you will start to see the impeachment trials again. And
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know what, the valid ground they'd have is the
- 2:44Speaker 1: Epstein file situation. I think that's the one where they
- 2:47Speaker 1: would get him on and and so I guess if
- 2:54Speaker 1: you don't want that, you have to vote to keep
- 2:56Speaker 1: the GOP intact. However, if you're on the blue side
- 3:00Speaker 1: of things, this infighting is fascinating. And as an as
- 3:04Speaker 1: someone who just reports on this stuff, I find it
- 3:06Speaker 1: fascinating because I've seen Cornon throughout the last eight nine
- 3:11Speaker 1: years of Trump uh waiver, go back and forth. I mean,
- 3:15Speaker 1: he's never always been He's been kind of a solid
- 3:17Speaker 1: Trump supporter, but he's also criticized the guy. But now
- 3:21Speaker 1: he's fighting for his seat. And according to ad Impact,
- 3:26Speaker 1: an independent campaign tracker, corn and his allies have poured
- 3:30Speaker 1: in nearly fifty nine million dollars in political ads, compared
- 3:34Speaker 1: with just two point three million for Paxxston. Now, maybe
- 3:37Speaker 1: camp Paxton's they went on popularity, like Cuomo thought. Even
- 3:45Speaker 1: with that huge betting advantage, Paxston leads Corning in the
- 3:49Speaker 1: polls ahead of the March third primary thirty nine to
- 3:54Speaker 1: thirty one percent. Thirty nine to thirty one percent. And
- 3:58Speaker 1: that's gonna tell me if he does win the primary,
- 4:01Speaker 1: that even Texas is tired of the establishment, even they're
- 4:04Speaker 1: tired of a guy like Cornon always winning. And we
- 4:07Speaker 1: do often think about term moments with these guys. I mean,
- 4:10Speaker 1: how old can you be before you know are gonna
- 4:14Speaker 1: die in that seed? I mean, it just doesn't make sense,
- 4:19Speaker 1: But yeah, that's the one I got, Alex News. Infighting
- 4:21Speaker 1: in Texas could really turn, could really turn Texas blue
- 4:28Speaker 1: in a better way than Beto o'rock tried and other
- 4:30Speaker 1: people tried. I mean, I don't even think Jasmine Crockett's
- 4:33Speaker 1: to face this part this party. I think she's just
- 4:38Speaker 1: not a good face of the party. But but my
- 4:43Speaker 1: thought is if Corner is fighting like hell, then Republicans
- 4:52Speaker 1: might be in trouble with this infighting. So I gotta say,
- 4:59Speaker 1: I think I'm going to keep an eye on this primary.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Her Wollnock a b Alex News because if it does
- 5:06Speaker 1: go Paxton, I don't think he wins the Senate seat,
- 5:11Speaker 1: and I do think the Democrats will have a blue
- 5:14Speaker 1: seat in Texas. That's my colleague disregard her at the
- 5:21Speaker 1: moment in Texas, and that would be astounding but not surprising.
- 5:27Speaker 1: A lot of cities in Texas are turning blue Austin's
- 5:30Speaker 1: gotten bluer, Houston's getting a little more blue. I mean,
- 5:35Speaker 1: there are cities that are turning to the Democratic side,
- 5:41Speaker 1: and with this gop in fighting in such a way
- 5:43Speaker 1: where he's calling the Attorney General an albatross and corrupt,
- 5:51Speaker 1: the gloves are off in Texas. And I said this
- 5:54Speaker 1: start of the show, it's getting hot down there. And
- 5:56Speaker 1: I don't mean the weather.
