- 0:24Speaker 4: should don't be surprised if he's the star. No one
- 0:27Speaker 4: could have foreseen that happening.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Well, we all knew that that was going to.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Happen, did we all? Donald?
- 0:33Speaker 3: That is correct?
- 0:33Speaker 4: Oh my god, I just threw out.

- 1:06Speaker 1: This is Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Presented by Toyota's official website. For deals, buy a Toyota
- 1:12Speaker 3: dot com Builker what's that, Elliott? Yeah, okay, all right, thanks,
- 1:19Speaker 3: what do you.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Say any news? No news yet?
- 1:22Speaker 3: All right, Welcome to Patriots on Filter here at Jillette Stadium.
- 1:28Speaker 2: And the news obviously is we're on a watch for
- 1:31Speaker 2: Brandan Ayuk. But in the meantime, it's Duce, it's myself,
- 1:35Speaker 2: it's Paul at Sevan, Matt and Nabooth Jordan on the cameras.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Just got back from practice and it's an overcast, kind
- 1:43Speaker 2: of wet day, rain off and on throughout practice. Chili
- 1:48Speaker 2: only like sixty nine degrees right now. It was it
- 1:51Speaker 2: was downright chilling. But I'll take it he was out
- 1:55Speaker 2: there last real practice before the game or the preseason
- 1:59Speaker 2: game on Thursday. They'll do a walk through tomorrow. But
- 2:04Speaker 2: you know, we got to address the big news, not
- 2:08Speaker 2: news yet, but the rumors out there about the Patriots
- 2:13Speaker 2: fully interested in Ayuk. Reportedly, there's an offer that they
- 2:18Speaker 2: have made to the forty nine ers that the forty
- 2:20Speaker 2: nine ers say they would accept.
- 2:22Speaker 3: They also have.
- 2:23Speaker 2: An offer from the Browns that they also say they
- 2:26Speaker 2: would accept, and right now, supposedly it's up to Brandon
- 2:30Speaker 2: Ayuk as to where he goes. But Paul, we were
- 2:33Speaker 2: talking before the show. You have another theory which makes
- 2:36Speaker 2: a lot of sense.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Yeah, and I don't know. I like to preface I
- 2:40Speaker 4: don't know anything, but yeah, the reports are that San
- 2:44Speaker 4: Francisco says they have the framework for deals with the
- 2:47Speaker 4: Browns and the Patriots, and I find that odd. I
- 2:51Speaker 4: don't really know how many trades get done that way, like, well,
- 2:53Speaker 4: we have the principals are agreed to with two teams,
- 2:57Speaker 4: We're gonna let the player decide. To me, it sounds
- 2:59Speaker 4: like Francisco put that out there to let everybody around
- 3:02Speaker 4: the league know that, Okay, this is what Kileven's offering,
- 3:05Speaker 4: this is what New England's offering. What do you got, Pittsburgh,
- 3:07Speaker 4: what do you got Washington? Anybody else that may or
- 3:10Speaker 4: may not have any interest. I want to Understan Francisco's
- 3:13Speaker 4: trying to drive the price.
- 3:14Speaker 3: That makes sense to me.
- 3:15Speaker 6: Yeah, I actually same theory, but I thought it was
- 3:19Speaker 6: more for my ux camp because he doesn't want to
- 3:22Speaker 6: come here to Cleveland and is trying to get one
- 3:24Speaker 6: of the teams he's more interested in playing in. But
- 3:26Speaker 6: either way, the second that I saw, I think there's
- 3:30Speaker 6: some Bay Area reports initially that started this whole thing.
- 3:34Speaker 6: And then this morning, Mike Reeves reported that the Niners
- 3:37Speaker 6: are now open to hearing trade conversations from teams, And
- 3:42Speaker 6: as soon as I saw that rees tweet, I was like, oh, no,
- 3:45Speaker 6: like because if this was just a done deal, it
- 3:48Speaker 6: happens before anybody even knows it, and we just get
- 3:51Speaker 6: a schefter bomb at a random time, and all of
- 3:54Speaker 6: a sudden, Brandon Nayuk is a Brown or a Patriot.
- 3:57Speaker 6: Now it feels like somebody is trying to create a
- 4:00Speaker 6: market for Brandon Nyuk. Whether it's the Niners or it's Ayuk,
- 4:03Speaker 6: I guess can be.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I wouldn't rule out the Niners too, like just
- 4:08Speaker 4: saying okay, so this is go and make the framework
- 4:11Speaker 4: for your contract. Yeah, sure, we'll match that. Right, you
- 4:14Speaker 4: want to stay here, we'll match that.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Also, they could be also calling as bluff.
- 4:18Speaker 2: So supposedly the forty nine ers have an offer that
- 4:21Speaker 2: they've made Ayuk. Now, I don't know what that is,
- 4:24Speaker 2: but I also don't know how much separation there is
- 4:28Speaker 2: between that offer and what Cleveland and the Patriots are offering.
- 4:31Speaker 3: And maybe they're trying to prove d Ayuk.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Listen, we're pretty close here and you could stay here
- 4:37Speaker 2: and possibly win a super Bowl this year. We're that close.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Those teams aren't as close as we are, so there's
- 4:43Speaker 2: a lot to you know. And that's where I think
- 4:47Speaker 2: Mayo in his press conference this morning says something that
- 4:52Speaker 2: we should all listen to. It might be a little
- 4:54Speaker 2: further along than we think it is. The story, like.
- 4:57Speaker 4: The stories further along than it actually is, you know
- 5:00Speaker 4: what I mean. Like, I think that was what Gerard
- 5:03Speaker 4: was trying was saying. I think Doug kid asked him
- 5:05Speaker 4: about Kendrick Bourne, because Gerard, rightly, I thought, kept saying,
- 5:11Speaker 4: you know, we're not going to talk about guys on
- 5:12Speaker 4: other teams, you know, you know, out of respect we're
- 5:16Speaker 4: all involved. We're going to keep it to our our players.
- 5:20Speaker 4: And then later in the press conference, I thought Doug
- 5:23Speaker 4: Kyde had a good question about Kendrick Bourne has been
- 5:26Speaker 4: involved in some of these reports as being involved in
- 5:29Speaker 4: the in the trade. Have you talked to him about it?
- 5:33Speaker 4: And Mayo said he had, and then he made the
- 5:36Speaker 4: comment that the story maybe further along, you know at
- 5:40Speaker 4: this point, and my you know, Fred and I sort
- 5:43Speaker 4: of interpreted that as what they're writing is far more
- 5:47Speaker 4: advanced than what's actually happening in terms of the trade talk,
- 5:51Speaker 4: you know, between the teams, so coupled with Evan's saying
- 5:55Speaker 4: about the schefter, the retweet with with schefter. But you
- 5:59Speaker 4: know this, these things can take some time. Because I
- 6:02Speaker 4: had heard something early this morning that you know, noon
- 6:06Speaker 4: was like the deadline. Like that made no sense to
- 6:08Speaker 4: me at all, And here we are, I don't know
- 6:11Speaker 4: if maybe it's noon Pacific time. Maybe we'll find out
- 6:13Speaker 4: at three. I don't know. Well, maybe it's right around
- 6:16Speaker 4: the corner. We just don't know it.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean the other thing is, you know, yeah,
- 6:23Speaker 2: I mean, if it's true that the forty nine ers
- 6:25Speaker 2: are just trying to drive up the price and other
- 6:29Speaker 2: teams might get involved, the Patriots still have a little
- 6:32Speaker 2: bit of advantage because whatever draft pick it is, whether
- 6:35Speaker 2: it's first, second, or third, it's going to be a
- 6:38Speaker 2: high for a second or third.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Probably if it's the Patriots.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I mean, if you're looking at it from the forty
- 6:44Speaker 2: nine ers perspective and you look at other teams that could.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Be involved, I mean it could be anybody.
- 6:51Speaker 2: But you know, like the Carolina Panthers, for example, they
- 6:55Speaker 2: would trump us probably in the projection of where the
- 6:59Speaker 2: draft pick would be. But I think there's not a
- 7:01Speaker 2: lot of teams right now projected to have higher draft
- 7:05Speaker 2: picks than the Patriots.
- 7:06Speaker 3: We're like, we're projected to.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Have like top five, right, Yeah, I mean projections.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Projections, And obviously you bring an Ayuk and maybe now
- 7:15Speaker 2: that draft pick goes lower because you win more games
- 7:17Speaker 2: that I would think that would be the case.
- 7:20Speaker 6: Yeah. It always just worries me when reports come out
- 7:24Speaker 6: that they'll now listen to calls. That tells me that
- 7:27Speaker 6: they haven't gotten a call that either the Niners or
- 7:31Speaker 6: Ayuk are thrilled about. And they're trying to create a
- 7:34Speaker 6: market that doesn't currently exist for the player or for
- 7:38Speaker 6: the team. And if you're the Patriots, the last thing
- 7:41Speaker 6: that you want is more teams getting involved in the sweepstakes.
- 7:45Speaker 6: Now the entire league knows that the Niners will pick
- 7:48Speaker 6: up the phone on a call for Brandon Ayuk, and
- 7:50Speaker 6: that could even be a team we're not thinking about
- 7:54Speaker 6: that somehow maneuvers the cap with some gymnastics and is
- 7:57Speaker 6: able to figure it out to get him in the
- 7:59Speaker 6: building as well. So that always worries me. I'd much
- 8:02Speaker 6: rather just wake up and see that they trade is done.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Take a cap here, I got my pen no right, Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 6: Then to find out that night.
- 8:10Speaker 3: At a time, not out of ten times.
- 8:12Speaker 2: The way these work is Schefter breaks it and that's
- 8:14Speaker 2: the first you heard about it. The fact that this
- 8:17Speaker 2: is so out there like that and they've got the framework,
- 8:21Speaker 2: it kind of leans toward what Paul's saying is that
- 8:24Speaker 2: this is a forty nine ers trying to.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Yeah, and that doesn't mean the market. That doesn't mean
- 8:28Speaker 4: that I'm poo pooling the reports. No, No, Like, I
- 8:31Speaker 4: think there's probably validity to it. I think that we've
- 8:33Speaker 4: offered them something and it's something that maybe San Francisco
- 8:37Speaker 4: was saying, oh okay, but in the back of their mind,
- 8:39Speaker 4: John Lynch is going around saying, Okay, this is what
- 8:42Speaker 4: the Patriots are offering. Like you said, you know, the
- 8:45Speaker 4: Patriots are projected to have a high draft pick. Okay,
- 8:48Speaker 4: So my guess is the Patriots aren't willing to give
- 8:50Speaker 4: a first round pick, right, so it might be a
- 8:53Speaker 4: high pick in the second round. Does someone who's projecting
- 8:56Speaker 4: to maybe pick in the twenties want to give a
- 8:59Speaker 4: first rounder that's better than a high second rounder? Yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 4: you know, so you don't necessarily have to be ahead
- 9:03Speaker 4: of the Patriots in the draft, or you might be
- 9:06Speaker 4: willing to give a higher round because I wouldn't give
- 9:09Speaker 4: up a top five pick for Brandon. I wouldn't.
- 9:12Speaker 3: I would if the money wasn't involved.
- 9:15Speaker 5: Just the draft pick and that's it now. But you're
- 9:17Speaker 5: gonna have to give him huge contract, And that's my
- 9:19Speaker 5: biggest question.
- 9:20Speaker 3: What does it?
- 9:20Speaker 4: What does that look like? What is the money?
- 9:22Speaker 2: If it wasn't about the money I would give. I
- 9:25Speaker 2: would give a first round pick in a heartbeat for
- 9:27Speaker 2: this guy. He's a first round talent.
- 9:29Speaker 4: But then, so what is he going to play for?
- 9:31Speaker 4: Like he's going to play for free?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Well, you would have like a contract where you know
- 9:36Speaker 2: we had two years left and yet you don't have
- 9:39Speaker 2: to worry about it right away.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Well, there's no question. I mean, I wouldn't do it
- 9:43Speaker 4: for a first round pick.
- 9:45Speaker 5: And this will be bigger than what they offer Ridley, right, like,
- 9:47Speaker 5: this will be oh.
- 9:48Speaker 6: Yeah, thirty million a year.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Yeah, this is to get Yeah. Ridley was like I
- 9:53Speaker 4: think four years ninety two, yeah, and this is probably
- 9:56Speaker 4: be like four and one twenty is yeah, that's thirty
- 9:59Speaker 4: right math hard Yeah.
- 10:02Speaker 2: On one of your shows. This point, they were talking
- 10:03Speaker 2: about twenty five. It's gonna be more than now.
- 10:05Speaker 6: It's got to be it's got to be rating now
- 10:08Speaker 6: there's now thirty for our top ten.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Right, I think twenty eight would be the absolute minimum.
- 10:13Speaker 4: You know what's I think Jefferson is like thirty five
- 10:17Speaker 4: thirty five, so he probably won't go that high, right,
- 10:19Speaker 4: but he's twenty five, twenty six years old. He's gonna
- 10:22Speaker 4: get it. It's gonna get it. Makes sense.
- 10:24Speaker 5: I mean, I think we're talking about it up there.
- 10:25Speaker 5: You know, it would probably be a four year deal.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Five year I mean the crazy if you get crazy.
- 10:29Speaker 5: But you're getting a guy that's gonna be with May
- 10:32Speaker 5: for his rookie contract hopefully, and you know they'll have
- 10:34Speaker 5: a chance to build that kind of.
- 10:35Speaker 4: You know, chemistry.
- 10:36Speaker 5: I just I just wander up born because I'm not
- 10:39Speaker 5: saying that they're stacked at wide receiver. It just feels
- 10:41Speaker 5: like they have too many guys right now, and not
- 10:43Speaker 5: in a way of talent. It just feels so many
- 10:46Speaker 5: bodies to me, too many of the same guy.
- 10:48Speaker 3: You know.
- 10:48Speaker 5: It's it's like, even when you start writing about projections
- 10:51Speaker 5: and stuff, you I like, I forget about Kendrick Borne,
- 10:55Speaker 5: you know, like it's like or I forget about kJ asmore.
- 10:57Speaker 5: You know, they just it's so easy, especially with the
- 10:59Speaker 5: two rookies, to kind of focus on them. So I
- 11:01Speaker 5: don't know, I just I threw it out there. I'm like,
- 11:03Speaker 5: is it possible that they try to throw Baker into
- 11:05Speaker 5: that deal? Like, you know, do you throw one of
- 11:07Speaker 5: these rookies with some upside that you know, a manageable
- 11:10Speaker 5: contract is But for the forty nine ers, if this
- 11:12Speaker 5: kid were to work out, maybe they liked them in
- 11:14Speaker 5: the scouting process. I don't know, It's just I mean
- 11:16Speaker 5: I heard on the table Born on the table. I mean,
- 11:20Speaker 5: you know, and we should talk about Jude On too,
- 11:21Speaker 5: which you know, seemed like that took took another turn
- 11:23Speaker 5: today as well. I think he should be I mean
- 11:27Speaker 5: that makes sense to me to sell him.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I'm curious, like we all talked about a yuk. I'm
- 11:31Speaker 4: curious what the listeners think, you know, like, would you
- 11:33Speaker 4: know do you want ayuk? I assume the answer is yes,
- 11:37Speaker 4: But if so, what are you willing to offer? You're
- 11:39Speaker 4: willing to offer the first and the contract or a
- 11:42Speaker 4: second in the contract is you know, including Born and
- 11:47Speaker 4: maybe even judea On or something like that. Is that
- 11:49Speaker 4: a deal? Is that a deal breaker? I'm curious to
- 11:52Speaker 4: see what what the listeners think.
- 11:53Speaker 6: I really feel like they're the Patriots first round pick
- 11:57Speaker 6: is off the table. That's I don't even think that's
- 11:59Speaker 6: part of the conversation. This this trade, to me feels
- 12:02Speaker 6: like it's going to be a little bit more like
- 12:06Speaker 6: a like a baseball or a basketball trade, where it's
- 12:08Speaker 6: going to be like a second and third plus Kendrick
- 12:10Speaker 6: Bourne or plus the Matthew Judah and maybe the veteran
- 12:14Speaker 6: player and a guy like Bourn makes a ton of sense.
- 12:17Speaker 6: He's been a San Francisco forty nine or he's played
- 12:20Speaker 6: in that system. He's familiar with it, was productive in
- 12:23Speaker 6: it his last year there, and he's got the injury.
- 12:26Speaker 6: But once he's healthy, they don't need to.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Get him up with a second conditional first, and the
- 12:32Speaker 2: condition is the Patriots make it to the divisional round.
- 12:35Speaker 6: You can't do that.
- 12:36Speaker 3: You can't do that, No, why not?
- 12:38Speaker 6: It's just not CBA stuff like you can't make the
- 12:41Speaker 6: pick contingent on team success. So you could make the
- 12:44Speaker 6: pick contingent on Brandon n You's success.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Games played you know, milestone catches and whatnot. Yeah, did
- 12:51Speaker 4: you like playoff catches? I think so.
- 12:53Speaker 3: I do think you can do catches in the Silver Bowl.
- 12:56Speaker 4: I think you could do individual incentives based on team,
- 13:00Speaker 4: like you could put in Ayuke's contract you get a
- 13:03Speaker 4: five hundred thousand dollars bonus if you make or something
- 13:06Speaker 4: like that.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, well all right, so that's how you This
- 13:10Speaker 2: is what we know.
- 13:11Speaker 3: We don't know much, so it's not only what's being.
- 13:15Speaker 4: I was like, oh man, this is the.
- 13:18Speaker 6: Forty nine Ers are such a good team and they're
- 13:21Speaker 6: such a well run football operation. This to me is
- 13:25Speaker 6: is not a good football move for San Francisco. Like
- 13:29Speaker 6: I just that's the part that I can't get over
- 13:31Speaker 6: of actually trying to take this seriously. Is you're telling
- 13:34Speaker 6: me that one of the best football operations in the
- 13:37Speaker 6: NFL a month before the season is gonna trade their
- 13:40Speaker 6: best receiver when they could win a Super Bowl this year,
- 13:44Speaker 6: and they're gonna get pennies on the dollar. Because it's
- 13:46Speaker 6: not a good time to trade somebody right now during
- 13:48Speaker 6: this time of the year. You can't get anybody that's
- 13:50Speaker 6: gonna help you in the immediate with the draft picks
- 13:53Speaker 6: and the Niners are gonna do. Like, I just can't
- 13:56Speaker 6: get over It's it's not a good football move and
- 13:58Speaker 6: they don't make bad foot ball moves in San Francisco.
- 14:01Speaker 5: And like, I just think it's such an interesting situation
- 14:03Speaker 5: where he's coming from a place where they've got a
- 14:06Speaker 5: superstar tight end, they've got Debo, they've got you.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Know, there's a lot of stars.
- 14:10Speaker 5: So it's it's hard to kind of establish a pecking
- 14:13Speaker 5: order with that team, and it seems like it's hard
- 14:16Speaker 5: to kind of arrange the value of you know, do
- 14:18Speaker 5: we value him as a number one? Like he is
- 14:20Speaker 5: a number one, but for us, we you know, we've
- 14:22Speaker 5: built this thing to kind of be a four pronged attack,
- 14:24Speaker 5: and you know, it's just it's it's interesting the way
- 14:27Speaker 5: they built the team. It feels like this is kind
- 14:28Speaker 5: of coming back. It's hard to come.
- 14:30Speaker 4: But I agree with Evan because to me, it would
- 14:32Speaker 4: be short sighted if John Lynch looked at it that way,
- 14:34Speaker 4: because I think that might be the way it is
- 14:36Speaker 4: right now, but I think easily at this time next year,
- 14:39Speaker 4: it's it's George Kittle, It's Christian McCaffrey, and it's Deebo, Samuel,
- 14:43Speaker 4: those three guys are not guaranteed to be in the
- 14:45Speaker 4: same spot that they are right now physically next year.
- 14:48Speaker 4: They're close to the end, those three guys, and I
- 14:51Speaker 4: know they're not all that old, but they've all been
- 14:54Speaker 4: like really physically pounded for several years now. It's gonna
- 14:59Speaker 4: happen with those guys. That's why I wonder if the
- 15:02Speaker 4: Auk is in his prime.
- 15:03Speaker 3: That's why I wonder if.
- 15:04Speaker 2: There's more to this than we know in terms of
- 15:06Speaker 2: Ayuk's relationship with his current team.
- 15:09Speaker 3: You know, it could be good.
- 15:11Speaker 2: It could be that it's just an intolerable situation that
- 15:15Speaker 2: they have to move them because like both of you
- 15:18Speaker 2: are saying, like he's the young guy, wouldn't you be
- 15:21Speaker 2: trying to move Deebo rather than him? And if it's
- 15:24Speaker 2: a money thing, just give them money to Ayuk. I mean,
- 15:28Speaker 2: it's a little strange.
- 15:31Speaker 4: I wonder if whatever he would agree with for the
- 15:34Speaker 4: Patriots or Cleveland money wise, if he's not willing to
- 15:38Speaker 4: agree with that with San Francisco, right, I wonder, Again,
- 15:41Speaker 4: I know nothing, because sometimes I'm just wondering.
- 15:43Speaker 2: These players they dig their heels in and it doesn't
- 15:47Speaker 2: matter they just want out, and they actually end up
- 15:49Speaker 2: taking the same or maybe a little bit more around
- 15:52Speaker 2: the same that the current team was offering, just to
- 15:54Speaker 2: get the hell out.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Like I said to you a couple of weeks ago
- 15:57Speaker 4: when we were talking about some of this stuff, probably
- 15:59Speaker 4: like a month ago, like is a report about Washington.
- 16:02Speaker 4: He was really interested in Washington because of his friendship
- 16:04Speaker 4: with Jayden Daniels, And I was like, I'm not sure
- 16:06Speaker 4: I like him as much anymore, right, you know, not
- 16:08Speaker 4: personally obviously, but like as a player, Like why would
- 16:11Speaker 4: you want, you know, openly want to leave San Francisco
- 16:14Speaker 4: a team that is absolutely a Super Bowl contender to
- 16:17Speaker 4: go play with your friend, right right? Like really that's
- 16:21Speaker 4: the off season.
- 16:21Speaker 5: There's also just the uncertainty with him of if he's
- 16:25Speaker 5: truly the number one and getting all the attention, Like
- 16:27Speaker 5: what does that look like? I know that there's plenty
- 16:29Speaker 5: out there of scouts saying and there's plenty of scouts
- 16:31Speaker 5: out there saying, no, he's worth it. He's a number one,
- 16:33Speaker 5: and you know, and I like him, and that's all fair,
- 16:35Speaker 5: but you know, until you actually see it, especially coming
- 16:38Speaker 5: here where it's like number one and then a.
- 16:41Speaker 4: Lot of question marks, it would be the cut number one.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Get it's fair to.
- 16:44Speaker 5: Wonder what you know, Sauce Gardner, Polo, you know twice
- 16:48Speaker 5: a year you're you know what I mean.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Is tell you could have a huge year if you
- 16:51Speaker 4: if you picked up a guy like a Yuka Is
- 16:52Speaker 4: to Mario Douglas, yeah.
- 16:54Speaker 6: I think that it's more that. To me, it's the
- 16:57Speaker 6: it's the domino effect of now it makes life easier
- 17:00Speaker 6: on everybody else. And that's why you know when people say, well,
- 17:03Speaker 6: how many wins does Brandon I you got him in
- 17:06Speaker 6: a vacuum. I'm not going to sit here and tell
- 17:08Speaker 6: you that it adds five wins to the Patriots. But
- 17:11Speaker 6: his gravity in the offense of he's going to draw
- 17:14Speaker 6: sas Gardner every week, He's going to have the safety
- 17:17Speaker 6: attention every single week. And now all of a sudden
- 17:20Speaker 6: pop Douglas and Jalen Polk and Hunter Henry and Ramandra Stevenson,
- 17:23Speaker 6: they all have a little bit more room and a
- 17:25Speaker 6: little bit more faciaus.
- 17:26Speaker 3: We're talking about this before practice today.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Don't you think ayuk on last year's team gives you
- 17:31Speaker 2: three extra wins?
- 17:33Speaker 3: No, I had three games where they scored six points.
- 17:36Speaker 4: I think I think that their offense will be better.
- 17:39Speaker 4: I'm not a big fan of X guy gives you
- 17:42Speaker 4: x amount more wins, Like I think their offense would
- 17:44Speaker 4: be better, right, I don't think. I think it's unquestionable
- 17:46Speaker 4: their offense.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Don't think offense last year would equal at least three
- 17:50Speaker 3: more wins.
- 17:51Speaker 4: I don't no, I don't know. I have to see
- 17:53Speaker 4: how the game's unfolded. I don't think it's a very
- 17:57Speaker 4: good team. I don't think it was a very good
- 17:58Speaker 4: team last year. They easily could have won three more games.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Last year, they still stunk, right like, even if they
- 18:03Speaker 4: won the games. But I don't think, No, I don't
- 18:05Speaker 4: think that, like you score another touchdown, like, I don't
- 18:08Speaker 4: think it works that way. I know for anybody a quarterback,
- 18:12Speaker 4: I know the quarterback makes the difference between wins.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Obviously, the whole butterfly effect, I get it. But if
- 18:18Speaker 2: they had scored an extra touchdown in three games, they win.
- 18:21Speaker 4: But as Mac Jones throwing the ball all over the yard,
- 18:23Speaker 4: even with Brandon Nayuk, I don't think you win my.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Points like shucking it up down getting picked off.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Like they had poor quarterback play last year. They have
- 18:30Speaker 4: poor quarterback play again this year. With or without Brandon Ayuk,
- 18:33Speaker 4: you're going to struggle offense.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Granted, granted I just think that he does.
- 18:39Speaker 4: That make sense, Yeah, I just don't think the translates that.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I know.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I know their offense was awfully last year, but I
- 18:46Speaker 2: think he would have made it better and he would
- 18:50Speaker 2: make this year's offense better as well.
- 18:53Speaker 6: So there's no question about that.
- 18:55Speaker 4: And I think the offense would be better.
- 18:57Speaker 6: Your your theory of that it the relationships are too
- 19:02Speaker 6: far gone in San Francisco. Is the only explanation as
- 19:04Speaker 6: to why this is happening is nothing. It's nothing to
- 19:08Speaker 6: do with football, because you know, to deuce his point
- 19:11Speaker 6: about is he truly a number one? You know, when
- 19:13Speaker 6: I watched that offense last year, and you know, you
- 19:15Speaker 6: guys know I like to watch that offense as much
- 19:17Speaker 6: as anybody.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Uh.
- 19:19Speaker 6: He was the engine of the offense last year outside
- 19:22Speaker 6: in the passing game, like McCaffrey is the engine of
- 19:25Speaker 6: the offense as a whole. But in the passing game,
- 19:28Speaker 6: he was the best player they had to throw the
- 19:30Speaker 6: ball to and it wasn't even close. Like you know,
- 19:33Speaker 6: as much as I think Debo and Kittle are good players.
- 19:36Speaker 6: He's the best receiver on the team.
- 19:38Speaker 3: I agree with that.
- 19:39Speaker 6: So even though he you know, he would get more
- 19:41Speaker 6: attention here, I don't necessarily look at it and say
- 19:44Speaker 6: he wasn't a number one in San Francisco last year
- 19:47Speaker 6: because he was the guy on the outside at the
- 19:51Speaker 6: X spot getting a lot of that coverage and he
- 19:54Speaker 6: was their best player on offense outside of McCaffrey last year.
- 19:58Speaker 6: So it just to me, it just feels like, you know,
- 20:01Speaker 6: no matter where he goes, he's going to be that guy.
- 20:03Speaker 3: So let's talk about the guys on this team.
- 20:07Speaker 2: We've had quite a few practices since the last unfiltered,
- 20:11Speaker 2: so we a lot to catch up with with what
- 20:13Speaker 2: we've seen since.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Practice. Yeah, I think.
- 20:18Speaker 2: The highlight for me, you know, was yesterday with the
- 20:22Speaker 2: physical practice that they had. I mean told them, I
- 20:25Speaker 2: want you guys playing at full speed at least the
- 20:28Speaker 2: defense because.
- 20:29Speaker 3: They were lighting some people up.
- 20:32Speaker 4: No, that was his physical Like I cannot remember the
- 20:35Speaker 4: last time they tackled to the ground, you know, for
- 20:39Speaker 4: like full team periods. They were like two full periods
- 20:42Speaker 4: of complete tackle to the ground.
- 20:45Speaker 2: And he said, that's I feel like he just can't
- 20:47Speaker 2: go into a game without having done it yet.
- 20:49Speaker 4: So and I've been really agree with that. By the way,
- 20:51Speaker 4: I've been reading a little bit from some other people
- 20:54Speaker 4: around the league, and I guess there's more of that
- 20:56Speaker 4: going on, and I wonder. I wonder if people have
- 20:59Speaker 4: sort of decided, well, we don't want to do it
- 21:01Speaker 4: in preseason games because we don't want to have our
- 21:05Speaker 4: players playing in those games. So this is much more
- 21:09Speaker 4: of a controlled environment. We can do it without joint
- 21:12Speaker 4: practices because joint practices get really chippy. We've seen it
- 21:15Speaker 4: now again with the Giants and the Lions are getting
- 21:18Speaker 4: in fights. So I wonder if maybe some of the
- 21:20Speaker 4: coaches are saying, we're not gonna play our players in
- 21:23Speaker 4: the preseason games, so they're not gonna be ready. We
- 21:25Speaker 4: got to do something different in camp, and I will
- 21:28Speaker 4: say they've been like every three days they've been a
- 21:32Speaker 4: day off so far, and I would say about forty
- 21:37Speaker 4: five minutes to fifty five minutes of every practice has
- 21:40Speaker 4: sort of been an extended warm up. But they've been
- 21:43Speaker 4: in full pads now what six times, which I think
- 21:47Speaker 4: is more than they were in camp last year and
- 21:50Speaker 4: tougher than Belichick Andy And when they've had. You know, Like,
- 21:53Speaker 4: like I said, I think it's a mix. Like I
- 21:56Speaker 4: think the practices last year were probably more intense than
- 21:59Speaker 4: these practices, but when they've been intense this year, I
- 22:02Speaker 4: think it's exceeded anything they did last year. Certain does
- 22:06Speaker 4: that makes sense? Yeah, certainly. Yesterday's I mean that's just
- 22:09Speaker 4: was a yesterday. It was as intensive practice as I
- 22:11Speaker 4: can remember, going back to when I first started working
- 22:14Speaker 4: for you, when they used to tackle to the ground
- 22:16Speaker 4: school guys. Yeah, like double sessions and one of them
- 22:19Speaker 4: was like full board tackle to the ground and then
- 22:22Speaker 4: they would take it easy in the afternoon.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Yeah, that was my feeling after yesterday's practice, because these
- 22:26Speaker 5: last two practices really haven't been overly productive. I mean,
- 22:29Speaker 5: I felt like the offense was making progress last week
- 22:31Speaker 5: and you could kind of feel like, all right, some
- 22:33Speaker 5: things just starting to open up in the run game,
- 22:34Speaker 5: and you know, the quarterbacks have got some time, and
- 22:36Speaker 5: certainly those plays still exist the last two practices, but
- 22:40Speaker 5: overall it's it's.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Kind of been a grind. But I was kind of
- 22:42Speaker 4: almost okay with it yesterday just because it was so
- 22:45Speaker 4: hard and it was so run oriented, so it wasn't
- 22:47Speaker 4: really necessarily like you didn't go out of those saying
- 22:49Speaker 4: Jacoby Brissett took a step back to oh, Drake May,
- 22:52Speaker 4: like he had that momentum. I didn't do that yesterday,
- 22:54Speaker 4: and I really didn't do it today because I think
- 22:56Speaker 4: there's still been some things that I like about. I
- 23:00Speaker 4: think there's more rhythm, but everything is short. I don't
- 23:02Speaker 4: know how you guys feel. It's like when when you
- 23:04Speaker 4: see like Drake May, because you know not to step
- 23:07Speaker 4: on you us side of the street. No one cares
- 23:09Speaker 4: about youset Like Brissette's been fine. I think he's going
- 23:12Speaker 4: to be more than likely going to be the guy
- 23:14Speaker 4: to open the season. But you're starting to see some
- 23:16Speaker 4: of the things that people talk about with May, like
- 23:19Speaker 4: when he gets in rhythm, the ball's out and it
- 23:21Speaker 4: comes out on time. When he gets a little bit
- 23:22Speaker 4: of time, he looks like he knows what he's doing.
- 23:24Speaker 4: The ball comes out and he's pretty accurate. I think
- 23:27Speaker 4: he's been let down a little bit by his receivers
- 23:30Speaker 4: at times, with some drops here and there. I thought
- 23:32Speaker 4: Javon Baker struggled today despite making an unbelievable catch on
- 23:36Speaker 4: the sideline and seven on seven diving parallel. He dropped
- 23:40Speaker 4: two or three others one led to a pick. But
- 23:43Speaker 4: I I'm not I'm not overly down on may. I
- 23:46Speaker 4: don't know if that's no, no no, I, like I
- 23:49Speaker 4: said it to Evan, it's so is that a Homer take?
- 23:51Speaker 4: I mean, I guess I'll wear it.
- 23:52Speaker 5: This is so hard because the only the moves the
- 23:54Speaker 5: needle is he was amazing today or he was terrible today. Yeah,
- 23:57Speaker 5: And I don't ever feel like he's I feel like
- 24:00Speaker 5: he's been consistently okay and a little better here and there.
- 24:03Speaker 4: And it's you know, and and and like those throws today, the.
- 24:06Speaker 5: You know, the fade to jehean Bell, which I just
- 24:08Speaker 5: thought was a beauty, like you know those seven on seven,
- 24:12Speaker 5: seven on seven.
- 24:13Speaker 4: You see it for sure, you know.
- 24:15Speaker 5: But again, it's just it's so hard to manage, like
- 24:17Speaker 5: with all the hot takes that are out there, and like,
- 24:19Speaker 5: you know, that's the only stuff that moves the needle.
- 24:21Speaker 5: But like slow and steady wins the race. And that's
- 24:23Speaker 5: what I kind of feel like he's been.
- 24:24Speaker 3: And a lot of it is we don't know what
- 24:25Speaker 3: we're looking at. Oh, I guess I whole guess it.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Came out like some of the stuff where a few
- 24:32Speaker 2: practices ago were made and looking they were working on
- 24:34Speaker 2: third and Law.
- 24:35Speaker 4: You know, one of the first days there was one
- 24:37Speaker 4: of his best days.
- 24:37Speaker 3: But peres are going to go down.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Yeah, but that was one of his best days. I
- 24:41Speaker 4: heard that this morning. The guy had the wrong practice. Okay,
- 24:45Speaker 4: one of his best days was was a third and
- 24:47Speaker 4: long day. Talked about it after.
- 24:49Speaker 6: Practice, Yeah, no, he was, but he was talking about
- 24:51Speaker 6: a practice earlier.
- 24:53Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 24:54Speaker 6: Okay, maybe I mean there was a third.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Practice that they actually I thought they converted a handful
- 25:01Speaker 4: of them, like, I thought they did pretty good, and
- 25:03Speaker 4: he talked about how hard it is, Yeah, and I
- 25:06Speaker 4: thought that I thought that was Maybe I don't know,
- 25:08Speaker 4: maybe I thought better of may Maybe I am a
- 25:10Speaker 4: homer because maybe we're getting bogged down by semantics of
- 25:15Speaker 4: which practice it was. But I feel like I've seen
- 25:19Speaker 4: some steady progress from him. But it's steady progress.
- 25:21Speaker 6: I'm not telling you that he looks like I'll pro
- 25:24Speaker 6: all of a sudden out at practice, but the ball's
- 25:26Speaker 6: coming out quicker. His eyes aren't darting around as much,
- 25:29Speaker 6: and like where he's you know, looks like he's uncertain
- 25:32Speaker 6: of where he's supposed to go with the football, And they,
- 25:35Speaker 6: to me, have been doing some interesting coaching with him
- 25:39Speaker 6: in terms of what they're throwing at him defensively, a
- 25:42Speaker 6: lot of blitzes, a lot of two high safety shells,
- 25:45Speaker 6: and they're telling him, you're we know you can throw deep,
- 25:49Speaker 6: and we know that you can do the playground stuff.
- 25:52Speaker 6: We're gonna make you do the other things in practice.
- 25:54Speaker 6: We're gonna work on the weaknesses, which is, you know,
- 25:57Speaker 6: can you get the ball out quickly? Can you beat
- 25:59Speaker 6: a blitz? Can you read a defense out and get
- 26:01Speaker 6: the ball out underneath? Can you hit the throws outside
- 26:04Speaker 6: the numbers that in college sometimes those balls would sail
- 26:07Speaker 6: over guys heads and we get those whoa where did
- 26:09Speaker 6: that that didn't go? And he, to me, has made
- 26:12Speaker 6: a lot of strides in those areas in the ball.
- 26:14Speaker 6: It seems crisper and more in rhythm when he's in there.
- 26:17Speaker 2: It was behind a few guys today on the short passing,
- 26:21Speaker 2: but I agree like he's he's starting to look a
- 26:24Speaker 2: little bit better. He had a throw yesterday in the
- 26:27Speaker 2: physical practice forty yards downfield. He actually overthrew it by
- 26:33Speaker 2: a couple of yards but it was just a flick
- 26:35Speaker 2: of the wrist. It was like Aaron Rodger esque like like,
- 26:39Speaker 2: I haven't we haven't seen that in a quarterback here.
- 26:44Speaker 2: We haven't seen that in a quarterback here in quite
- 26:45Speaker 2: a while. Yeah, And it was, you know, a really
- 26:49Speaker 2: really nice throw.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Now it's that there's no more of the days to
- 26:51Speaker 4: like get there, you know.
- 26:52Speaker 5: I remember that with some of Max balls where it's like,
- 26:54Speaker 5: you know, we try to hit that deep out and
- 26:56Speaker 5: it would just you know, kind of linger there, even
- 26:57Speaker 5: off the scene stuff, which just but with May you
- 27:00Speaker 5: can tell. And I thought some of those throws near
- 27:02Speaker 5: the end today when they kind of did a situational
- 27:04Speaker 5: Baker had that drops it like he puts a mustard
- 27:06Speaker 5: on those throws.
- 27:07Speaker 4: I mean, granted it's it's hard with the.
- 27:08Speaker 5: Rain and everything, but but he can step up and
- 27:10Speaker 5: sling it. It's just it's I've said it one hundred
- 27:12Speaker 5: times now, it's just it's nice not to have to
- 27:13Speaker 5: think about those things. But you know, now we're getting
- 27:16Speaker 5: into preseason, so it's let's put them in a game.
- 27:18Speaker 5: And I think that, to me is what I'm most
- 27:20Speaker 5: interested in overall of the offenses. You just haven't seen
- 27:23Speaker 5: them live situationally, down to down, you know, the play clocks, run.
- 27:27Speaker 4: And get the play.
- 27:28Speaker 2: It's all stringing them together, and they jointed.
- 27:32Speaker 4: For the offense in general. But I do agree, you
- 27:34Speaker 4: know the way you know, Evan and Mike just talked
- 27:37Speaker 4: about it, and it's nothing for me, it's nothing fancy.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Well they're talking about the specific plays like it's nothing fancy,
- 27:44Speaker 4: But it's the stuff that he probably didn't do as well.
- 27:47Speaker 4: And you might look at it. It was like there
- 27:49Speaker 4: was that one team period early today where it was
- 27:52Speaker 4: like a like a quick little hook and then it
- 27:55Speaker 4: was like rag or like three times. None of the
- 27:57Speaker 4: balls probably traveled more than five yards. It snap all
- 28:01Speaker 4: out catch, take the easy money. Yeah, you know, maybe
- 28:04Speaker 4: it's you know, let's let's assume instead of assuming it's
- 28:08Speaker 4: third and long and getting in, let's assume it's first
- 28:10Speaker 4: and ten and now it's you know, second and four. Yeah, okay,
- 28:13Speaker 4: So I thought he did a good job of that
- 28:16Speaker 4: at times today and we've seen that a little bit.
- 28:18Speaker 2: The other thing I like about May is the confidence
- 28:22Speaker 2: he has thrown outside the numbers. You know, that pass
- 28:25Speaker 2: it may only be five or eight yards beyond the
- 28:28Speaker 2: line of scrimmage, but it's still a twenty five yard pass.
- 28:31Speaker 2: And you see, like in the past with with Mac
- 28:35Speaker 2: it takes so long to get there, and with him
- 28:37Speaker 2: it's a confident throw because he knows he's got.
- 28:41Speaker 4: There's a little different in the two minute for that one.
- 28:43Speaker 4: It was one of those that took a long time
- 28:44Speaker 4: to get there. Well, the immortal del Pettis.
- 28:47Speaker 5: I thought, I thought to your point, the quick game
- 28:49Speaker 5: stuff with those midfields, three of them were the er.
- 28:52Speaker 4: I mean, it was just it was born rega Rager
- 28:55Speaker 4: in like a five play span and they were all completions,
- 28:57Speaker 4: and it all like what you were talking about, just
- 29:00Speaker 4: like the rhythm, like he's getting the snap, he's on
- 29:02Speaker 4: the back foot, the balls out.
- 29:04Speaker 6: Like that drive. I was actually you brought it up
- 29:07Speaker 6: before I could. That to me is what I've been
- 29:09Speaker 6: looking for with him, to say that he's taking a
- 29:12Speaker 6: step forward, because those are the things that he wasn't
- 29:14Speaker 6: doing at North Carolina. Was like anticipating those one on
- 29:18Speaker 6: ones on the outside and getting the ball out on time.
- 29:21Speaker 6: And sometimes you see guys like Bill you know, did
- 29:24Speaker 6: it on the draft night and Kurt Warner with the
- 29:26Speaker 6: guys that really know quarterback playing what they're looking at.
- 29:29Speaker 6: They'll break down here. This guy's open if he throws
- 29:32Speaker 6: it with some anticipation and throws it a beat earlier
- 29:35Speaker 6: as he's coming out of his break. But then he
- 29:37Speaker 6: holds the ball and now it's covered and so he's
- 29:39Speaker 6: got to pull it down and you know, the train
- 29:41Speaker 6: comes off the rails. That drive, to me, was exactly
- 29:44Speaker 6: what you would want to see out of Drake May.
- 29:46Speaker 6: And these guys are playing seven eight yards off the
- 29:49Speaker 6: line of scrimmage, and to Fred's point, he can just
- 29:51Speaker 6: get the ball out there. So if you're gonna play
- 29:53Speaker 6: off coverage against us, now all of a sudden, we
- 29:55Speaker 6: can hit the ball outside the numbers. We're gonna throw
- 29:57Speaker 6: it out. We're gonna throw a quick hitch, and eventually
- 30:00Speaker 6: the defense has to start creeping up towards the line
- 30:02Speaker 6: of scrimmage, and that's when you start to be able
- 30:03Speaker 6: to go over there.
- 30:04Speaker 2: I mean what you said about anticipating, that's one of
- 30:06Speaker 2: the biggest things with all these quarterbacks that we've seen
- 30:09Speaker 2: come through camps over the years. Compared to Tom Brady,
- 30:12Speaker 2: Brady trusts.
- 30:13Speaker 3: What should be and not just what he sees, and.
- 30:17Speaker 2: These young quarterbacks. They don't trust what should be. They
- 30:21Speaker 2: only trust what they're seeing right now. But they have
- 30:24Speaker 2: to get into that mindset of if he makes that
- 30:27Speaker 2: break where he's supposed to break the break, and I
- 30:30Speaker 2: throw it ahead of time, he'll be there. But it's
- 30:33Speaker 2: hard to do that.
- 30:34Speaker 6: Yeah, he's doing it a lot better what you don't
- 30:36Speaker 6: see yet. Yeah, he's doing it a lot better now.
- 30:39Speaker 6: He didn't do that at North Carolina at a high level.
- 30:41Speaker 6: He's doing it a lot better now now. Unfortunately, in
- 30:44Speaker 6: the two minute, you know, one goes through Javon Baker's hands,
- 30:46Speaker 6: the other one, you know, bounces off Juju for the
- 30:49Speaker 6: seventh time, and you know that.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Gets something on the That bowl looked like it was
- 30:53Speaker 4: coming out. It came out funny to the one off
- 30:55Speaker 4: of Juju, and he also Juju was going left to
- 30:58Speaker 4: the left sideline, well his right sideline, but like for us,
- 31:02Speaker 4: and the ball came back on the backside. I thought
- 31:05Speaker 4: something happened on that play.
- 31:06Speaker 5: But everybody like, yeah, that's what everybody's quick to jump
- 31:11Speaker 5: to at this point.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Myself included, Yeah, yeah it's possible.
- 31:14Speaker 6: I think we're at the point and we'll see what
- 31:16Speaker 6: it looks like. On Thursday night. This is kind of
- 31:18Speaker 6: the last stamp. But if he looks good on Thursday night,
- 31:21Speaker 6: then he's got to play with the ones like you gotta.
- 31:24Speaker 4: I think he's gonna.
- 31:26Speaker 6: No, not on No, I'm not talking about it on
- 31:30Speaker 6: Thursday night. I'm talking about in practice next week because
- 31:32Speaker 6: at some point it's not necessarily about is he ready
- 31:35Speaker 6: to start Week one, It's just you have to see
- 31:37Speaker 6: what it looks like with the ones against ones. It's
- 31:40Speaker 6: not just with our starters, it's also against the starting defense.
- 31:44Speaker 6: You know, can he dissected and can he read it
- 31:46Speaker 6: out as quickly like when it's Christian Gonzalez and Jonathan
- 31:50Speaker 6: Jones and Kyle Dugger and Jabriel Pepper's out there and
- 31:53Speaker 6: not the guys he's going up against now. So at
- 31:56Speaker 6: some point you have to see it against the ones
- 31:58Speaker 6: to know if it's for real and now will come
- 32:00Speaker 6: next week, I mean even against the Eagles in the
- 32:02Speaker 6: joint practice, like, let's see it for a series or two.
- 32:05Speaker 2: So Gerard also said today he was asked who's going
- 32:08Speaker 2: to play preseason, He's like, you know, anyone that's healthy
- 32:11Speaker 2: could play.
- 32:11Speaker 3: I think what he really.
- 32:12Speaker 4: Will play, he said, everybody that's healthy will play.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Will play.
- 32:15Speaker 2: But I think what he's saying is that's what he's
- 32:18Speaker 2: telling the players because he wants them already. I don't
- 32:21Speaker 2: think everybody will play.
- 32:23Speaker 4: I think they will, Oh you do.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I think every player who's healthy will play.
- 32:27Speaker 4: I'm not talking necessarily about the bottom ten guys on
- 32:31Speaker 4: the roster, but I think the starters will play a series.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Okay, all right.
- 32:35Speaker 4: I think that's the way. I don't see why he
- 32:37Speaker 4: would say that if that's not what he what he meant, Yeah, well,
- 32:40Speaker 4: I think And he also, that's more than you got
- 32:43Speaker 4: in the past. Yeah, Like he was very quick to say,
- 32:45Speaker 4: like Bill didn't tell you I did.
- 32:47Speaker 3: That's true.
- 32:47Speaker 5: Just I think it makes sense with the quarterbacks, like
- 32:49Speaker 5: I'd like to see all four guys and even they
- 32:51Speaker 5: all just got.
- 32:52Speaker 4: There wasn't a follow up to Mike on that. Someone
- 32:55Speaker 4: asked him specifically, like if if all four guys will playing,
- 32:59Speaker 4: because yeah, that's a plan.
- 33:00Speaker 6: Yeah, and as Jacoby's gonna start, And he said that
- 33:02Speaker 6: plan is to start Jakobe. That's the one guy that
- 33:05Speaker 6: in eight but eight years now, thirty one year old,
- 33:08Speaker 6: forty eight career starts, Like does he really we really
- 33:11Speaker 6: need to see it.
- 33:12Speaker 4: I see it kind I kind of agree with fred
- 33:15Speaker 4: in that, like in most of these situations where you
- 33:19Speaker 4: have a veteran who's keeping the seat worn for the
- 33:21Speaker 4: new guy, he's already on your team. It's Brett far Fitz,
- 33:26Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers. This is like he's got to play too
- 33:29Speaker 4: to get up to speed with these guys. Not necessarily
- 33:31Speaker 4: the offense because he knows that, but like he's never
- 33:34Speaker 4: I mean Jalen Polk and Javon Baker and kJ Osborne.
- 33:38Speaker 4: He doesn't have a like a rapport with these guys.
- 33:41Speaker 4: It's not gonna be much he's gonna play. I mean,
- 33:43Speaker 4: that's why I'm not like it's gonna be a series now.
- 33:47Speaker 4: You know, who knows. The series could be like the
- 33:48Speaker 4: way that they've been at practice. The series could be
- 33:50Speaker 4: twelve plays, you know, or I mean it could be
- 33:54Speaker 4: a three and out. I don't necessarily think there's a
- 33:57Speaker 4: number of plays he has.
- 33:57Speaker 2: That's why I think it can't be too definitive if
- 34:00Speaker 2: you're dry, because you just don't know what's going to happen.
- 34:02Speaker 2: If you haven't seen enough of a player, maybe he's
- 34:05Speaker 2: in another series more than you thought he would be in,
- 34:08Speaker 2: you know, so you know what.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Would be interesting, you know, in that regard. It just
- 34:11Speaker 4: thought of it like if they come out and they
- 34:13Speaker 4: have a good drive, like you can like chew up
- 34:16Speaker 4: three quarters of a quarter, right, so he might look
- 34:19Speaker 4: at that and say, I don't want all that time
- 34:21Speaker 4: to come off the clock. If if Jacoby goes out
- 34:24Speaker 4: there and they all of a sudden have like an
- 34:25Speaker 4: eight play drive going, just take him out right, put
- 34:28Speaker 4: May in and let him finish the drive. Yeah, you know,
- 34:31Speaker 4: make sure he gets the snaps, because I think that's
- 34:33Speaker 4: what we all want to see. We want to see
- 34:35Speaker 4: multiple drives for Drake May. Yeah. I mean I don't
- 34:38Speaker 4: know what the number is, but I'd like to see twenty.
- 34:39Speaker 3: Plays, multiple drives in multiple scenarios. What do you needs
- 34:42Speaker 3: in multiple situations?
- 34:44Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 34:44Speaker 5: Anythink do you think there's value too and just getting
- 34:46Speaker 5: Zappi in there to let other teams maybe have a
- 34:48Speaker 5: look at him a little bit.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Is that? Is that anything? You know?
- 34:51Speaker 3: Look at the tapes from the last year.
- 34:53Speaker 4: He's one He's one games in this.
- 34:54Speaker 2: He's one game, So go look at those games. There's
- 34:57Speaker 2: enough tape on Bailey's.
- 34:58Speaker 4: That's my new line every time z he does something,
- 35:01Speaker 4: he's one game.
- 35:02Speaker 2: That's why when he says we're gonna play all four,
- 35:05Speaker 2: I cringe because I want to see Drake May. I
- 35:08Speaker 2: want Drake May to get as many snaps as possible.
- 35:10Speaker 4: But you don't want to play like the whole game.
- 35:12Speaker 3: You want to play a half?
- 35:13Speaker 4: Do you want to see I think he could play
- 35:16Speaker 4: basically the equivalent of a half, Like if he goes
- 35:19Speaker 4: in the middle of the first quarter and finishes the
- 35:21Speaker 4: first half, that to me is like, that's almost a half.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's close.
- 35:24Speaker 4: Enough, it seems how Joe Milton does.
- 35:26Speaker 6: And then you split Zappie and Milton, right, That's how
- 35:29Speaker 6: That's sort of how I felt it would go. Is
- 35:30Speaker 6: you know, maybe they give Jakobe a series or two,
- 35:33Speaker 6: depending on how long the first series is, and then
- 35:35Speaker 6: Drake finishes out the entire first half and then you
- 35:38Speaker 6: get split.
- 35:39Speaker 3: You think when they put Drake in, they might keep
- 35:42Speaker 3: the starting O line in at least for one series.
- 35:45Speaker 6: I doubt it is more because of risking those guys
- 35:48Speaker 6: to injury.
- 35:48Speaker 4: That plus, like what is the starting offensive line I know,
- 35:51Speaker 4: I mean besides David Andrews and Michael wy.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Just city well, speaking of that. We saw Kane Wallace
- 35:57Speaker 3: take a walk off the field today on him.
- 36:00Speaker 4: But he's with the second group, and you know it's
- 36:02Speaker 4: been Venerian Lowe and Calvin Anderson the last couple of
- 36:05Speaker 4: days at tackle. You want to keep those guys out there.
- 36:09Speaker 4: I would like to see Kayton Wallace get some work
- 36:10Speaker 4: provided that because the last time we saw an offense
- 36:13Speaker 4: ave Lineman get hurt then stay in the practice, he
- 36:16Speaker 4: missed the next couple of days. So yeah, I don't know,
- 36:18Speaker 4: just they just don't have a lot of options at
- 36:20Speaker 4: tackle it.
- 36:20Speaker 5: I wondered about the center position because that was the
- 36:22Speaker 5: problem again today Mafi got pulled. You know, Andrews isn't
- 36:26Speaker 5: full participate with the ones all the time, and he
- 36:27Speaker 5: like he does a few reps and then he comes
- 36:29Speaker 5: out and a lot. So if you're telling me you
- 36:32Speaker 5: want to keep Leverett.
- 36:33Speaker 4: In, I'd like to have Leverett be the center to
- 36:35Speaker 4: make sure he gets good snaps.
- 36:36Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, the lever that could definitely your other.
- 36:38Speaker 4: Guy's starting to get some Charles Charles.
- 36:41Speaker 5: That was Mafi out, And I mean you've seen Mafi
- 36:44Speaker 5: out earlier practice working on the snaps. I mean you
- 36:45Speaker 5: can tell it's a thing.
- 36:47Speaker 4: But did you guys see and I already talked to Michael,
- 36:49Speaker 4: what did you see anything happen with so today? Like
- 36:52Speaker 4: he was, he was at his regular left guard spot
- 36:54Speaker 4: in the walk through before practice. Then he didn't really
- 36:56Speaker 4: take any of the reps. And now Michael b Jordan
- 36:59Speaker 4: after that.
- 37:00Speaker 6: Yeah, it might be just a management thing. I don't know.
- 37:03Speaker 2: M all right, he's dealing with So the game, the
- 37:07Speaker 2: preseason game is Thursday.
- 37:09Speaker 3: What's the start time? Seven thirty.
- 37:12Speaker 4: We're going for thirty for the for the pregame social games.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Okay, our first pregame social with the new host.
- 37:20Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, yes, yes, preseason I'll always.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Got he's got to produce the preseason. So it's gonna
- 37:28Speaker 3: be just like Paul, just Mike.
- 37:30Speaker 4: And Paul and just Mike.
- 37:31Speaker 3: When Paul goes to do his hit.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Oh no, we're gonna we're gonna time that up. We're
- 37:36Speaker 4: gonna we're gonna work that. I already talked to Jeremy
- 37:38Speaker 4: about it a little bit. We'll work out. So make
- 37:41Speaker 4: sure we're in a break when I do.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Will you at least have Duncan?
- 37:43Speaker 4: Of course, Dunk.
- 37:45Speaker 3: We will absolutely have Duncan.
- 37:47Speaker 7: Just waiting on our sponsorship.
- 37:48Speaker 4: That's not the producer is.
- 37:50Speaker 3: It's still sponsored by Duncan.
- 37:51Speaker 8: We are, We're just Kristen just has to bring me
- 37:53Speaker 8: down our sponsorship stuff.
- 37:54Speaker 4: Okay, all right, jeez, scare me.
- 37:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna bring back to coffee cake muffins.
- 37:59Speaker 4: I think this year coffee coffee.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Our first preseason game on Thursday.
- 38:04Speaker 6: No Bryce Young, no Xavier get Yeah, no Bryce Young.
- 38:08Speaker 3: That's my.
- 38:12Speaker 4: Aget has a foot injury. And I know Donald's not
- 38:15Speaker 4: playing because he's got like a quald.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:17Speaker 2: The Panthers don't need to develop Bryce Young. He doesn't
- 38:19Speaker 2: need the reps in preseason.
- 38:20Speaker 4: So yeah, I mean in preseason games. You don't like
- 38:25Speaker 4: preseason game reps are almost useless.
- 38:27Speaker 3: That's better than nothing.
- 38:29Speaker 4: No, I'm not really sure it is.
- 38:30Speaker 5: It's funny though, since we've gone to three games, no
- 38:32Speaker 5: one's really settled in on like what the formula is.
- 38:34Speaker 8: Like.
- 38:34Speaker 4: Everyone still seems like we.
- 38:35Speaker 5: Have no idea who's gonna play, Like you know, back
- 38:37Speaker 5: in like when there were four, we always know like
- 38:39Speaker 5: three is the dresser.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Maybe finally when we get to maybe finally, when we
- 38:42Speaker 2: get to two press and games, they might mean something or.
- 38:45Speaker 4: At least just think this is just limit.
- 38:47Speaker 5: It's like the first in the second game is all
- 38:50Speaker 5: our starts.
- 38:51Speaker 4: I don't think people, I don't think that anybody wants
- 38:53Speaker 4: to play in them. I think coaches reluctantly put guys
- 38:56Speaker 4: in that they don't really want to have been played.
- 38:58Speaker 4: They just eliminate them.
- 39:00Speaker 2: So you think you could go into the regular season
- 39:03Speaker 2: with a high level of NFL play?
- 39:05Speaker 4: Oh no, I didn't say that, But I don't think
- 39:08Speaker 4: the preseason is going to change the level of play
- 39:10Speaker 4: that you open with.
- 39:11Speaker 6: I don't like eliminating the preseason. I think two is fine.
- 39:14Speaker 4: And I'll tell you this is what's going to happen. Yeah, okay,
- 39:17Speaker 4: as ready as like you know, Bill Belichick is no
- 39:19Speaker 4: longer in the league, not right now right you know,
- 39:22Speaker 4: like you know Andy Reid will be gone soon, you know,
- 39:25Speaker 4: Mike Tomlin when this when when it's all the young
- 39:28Speaker 4: guys with the tight pants, yep, no one will do
- 39:31Speaker 4: anything in the preseason. Could be because the only practice
- 39:35Speaker 4: that Bill Belichick that old traditional. I don't know how
- 39:38Speaker 4: much you're supposed to get guys ready to tackle and
- 39:41Speaker 4: and be able to you know, how do you how
- 39:42Speaker 4: do you cover kicks like no one cares, Bill, No
- 39:45Speaker 4: one cares.
- 39:47Speaker 3: When that day comes, there'll be more more joint practices.
- 39:51Speaker 4: I think joint practices are going to be endangered too.
- 39:53Speaker 4: If they can't figure out how to do this without
- 39:55Speaker 4: having fight night at the four.
- 39:58Speaker 3: I think there is a case. Then then how do
- 40:00Speaker 3: you get teams ready to play tackle football if you
- 40:03Speaker 3: can't practice?
- 40:04Speaker 4: I don't know, Like, how do every team and every
- 40:07Speaker 4: other level do it. It's only the NFL that has
- 40:10Speaker 4: preseason games.
- 40:13Speaker 3: It's a schedule.
- 40:17Speaker 4: What if we played a UFL team, Figure it'll be
- 40:20Speaker 4: it'll be an adjustment, it'll be funny, it'll look weird,
- 40:23Speaker 4: and then after a couple of years it just be normal.
- 40:26Speaker 4: I also just I agree that the level of play
- 40:28Speaker 4: at the beginning of the season is not great, and
- 40:31Speaker 4: I think we've been saying that for years and years
- 40:33Speaker 4: and years.
- 40:34Speaker 6: I just feel like, also just covering a team that
- 40:37Speaker 6: has a first year head coach, this is the first
- 40:39Speaker 6: time that Gerrod Meyo is going to be the head
- 40:41Speaker 6: coach of a football team during a game.
- 40:43Speaker 3: He needs reps, He needs reps.
- 40:45Speaker 6: Alex Van Pelton needs reps. De Marcus Covington needs reps.
- 40:48Speaker 3: But they can get them with anyone. You know. They
- 40:50Speaker 3: don't need the start.
- 40:51Speaker 4: All they have to do tomorrow is go out on
- 40:53Speaker 4: the field, in the in the stadium, put the clock
- 40:55Speaker 4: on and have reps. Like, there's your reps.
- 40:59Speaker 6: No, it's different.
- 41:00Speaker 4: Is a game, Mike. Tell them, Tell them how easy
- 41:03Speaker 4: it is.
- 41:03Speaker 6: If you played sports, you know it's differently what I
- 41:05Speaker 6: have the game.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Tell them what I do, Mike, Tell them what I do.
- 41:08Speaker 7: Mike.
- 41:09Speaker 4: I just do what I do and I know nothing.
- 41:12Speaker 4: It's not that hard all the time out, get out
- 41:15Speaker 4: of bounds, spike the ball.
- 41:16Speaker 2: But it's it's not that hard for you, But for
- 41:19Speaker 2: some of these guys it is.
- 41:20Speaker 4: Why is it not that hard for me? But it's
- 41:21Speaker 4: a hard thing to do? If I have an anymore?
- 41:24Speaker 4: Can do you have what I'm telling you? Have an
- 41:26Speaker 4: aptitude for it?
- 41:27Speaker 3: I'm having no aptitude hicking around. I'm being serious.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Some people people know I'm Some people are better at
- 41:36Speaker 2: it than others.
- 41:37Speaker 6: We have a small update from Ian Rapaport.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Brandon Ayukas and Logan Airport.
- 41:42Speaker 6: The latest on the Brandon I on Brandon Ayukaus. The
- 41:45Speaker 6: forty nine Ers continue active trade discussions with the Steelers
- 41:49Speaker 6: Browns and Patriots.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Steelers are back in it.
- 41:52Speaker 6: At least at least all three teams are still in it.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Okay, so at least I wasn't completely The.
- 42:00Speaker 3: More teams that are in it, the less confident I am.
- 42:04Speaker 4: We're back. I think that's probably probably that's probably safe.
- 42:08Speaker 4: The more the more someone's going to offer more than
- 42:10Speaker 4: you did.
- 42:11Speaker 6: Yea and a more appealing situation.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Does he want to play for Pittsburgh? Does he does?
- 42:17Speaker 1: He like?
- 42:17Speaker 6: That was one of his teams on his list initially, Pittsburgh.
- 42:20Speaker 6: That's Washington.
- 42:22Speaker 4: I know, I remember Washington. I didn't know.
- 42:24Speaker 6: I guess this is that Pittsburgh is him calling the
- 42:26Speaker 6: Steelers and being like, come on, guys, like I don't
- 42:29Speaker 6: want to know they're willing.
- 42:31Speaker 5: Yeah, we talked about you on a little bit today.
- 42:34Speaker 5: I feel like this is like depressing. Yeah, and he
- 42:37Speaker 5: spoke yesterday. It was a little weird. I mean, I
- 42:39Speaker 5: just didn't seem like Matthew jude On to me. Came
- 42:42Speaker 5: out today, warmed up, no shoulder pads on, looked like
- 42:45Speaker 5: he just had a shell on, didn't have a helmet
- 42:48Speaker 5: with him, disappeared for a little bit, then came back
- 42:51Speaker 5: out and was just watching again. So it's, you know,
- 42:54Speaker 5: the kind of company line has always been out here.
- 42:55Speaker 5: He's been practicing with pads on and that was the
- 42:58Speaker 5: big question we had after the dust up last week,
- 43:00Speaker 5: was and he was there, and he was with pads.
- 43:02Speaker 5: He wasn't, you know, participating in everything first round all
- 43:04Speaker 5: that kind of stuff.
- 43:05Speaker 4: He's kind of in and out.
- 43:06Speaker 5: But it just it feels to me like this thing's
- 43:08Speaker 5: going a little sour right now. And I just I
- 43:11Speaker 5: don't know. Yesterday I got a bad vibe from Judah
- 43:13Speaker 5: and just didn't seem like he's really.
- 43:15Speaker 4: It was tough listening to him yesterday. I was in
- 43:17Speaker 4: on that that interview in you know, like to me,
- 43:21Speaker 4: the money line, the takeaway line was, you know, someone
- 43:24Speaker 4: asked him, you know, earlier in camp you basically said
- 43:28Speaker 4: you weren't happy with the way you handled it last year.
- 43:30Speaker 4: You said you would play, you know, honoring your contract,
- 43:33Speaker 4: and he said I said I would play. I didn't
- 43:35Speaker 4: say nothing about practice, And I was just like, wow.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, practice.
- 43:40Speaker 4: Yeah, That's exactly what it sounded like. Right was was
- 43:43Speaker 4: Alan Iverson like, I didn't say anything about practice.
- 43:46Speaker 5: It's like Evan always just says, you know, is Matthew
- 43:48Speaker 5: Judon going to be part of the next great Patriots team?
- 43:50Speaker 5: And you know, I think it's a great line, and
- 43:52Speaker 5: I mean it's very true, but it's I think the
- 43:53Speaker 5: reason to keep him around was that.
- 43:55Speaker 4: But can he be part of the rebuild and can
- 43:57Speaker 4: he be part.
- 43:58Speaker 5: Of re establishing the culture here and you know, making
- 44:01Speaker 5: this defense competent enough that they can keep a young
- 44:04Speaker 5: offense that's still trying to find its way in games.
- 44:07Speaker 5: And I just I don't know if he's invested in that.
- 44:09Speaker 4: And it's funny to me because like we're talking about
- 44:12Speaker 4: the Niners with Brandon Ayuk and we're saying, you know,
- 44:16Speaker 4: could the relationship with Soward so much that John Lynch
- 44:19Speaker 4: feels like he has to make a move. This is
- 44:21Speaker 4: a team that's in a Super Bowl conversation. I mean,
- 44:26Speaker 4: from the outside looking in, it certainly looks like this
- 44:28Speaker 4: relationship is sourd right, Okay, Now, whether what's going on
- 44:31Speaker 4: behind closed doors, you know, we're not privy to, but
- 44:35Speaker 4: you would think a team that is trying to establish
- 44:38Speaker 4: a culture and get back to that situation that San
- 44:41Speaker 4: Francisco's in now would say this isn't really worth it.
- 44:45Speaker 4: And I and I get the flip side of that,
- 44:47Speaker 4: Girod saying, I'd like to have a guy like that
- 44:50Speaker 4: that I can rely on to put pressure on the
- 44:52Speaker 4: pass or get us off the field on third down
- 44:54Speaker 4: and get us off to a good start defensively at
- 44:57Speaker 4: the start of the season. But to what I you know,
- 45:00Speaker 4: if he won't get on the field and practice, it's
- 45:03Speaker 4: to me, it's there's a lot of young guys. I know,
- 45:06Speaker 4: the Patriots have been rumored to be young the last
- 45:08Speaker 4: several years. They're actually young. Now. This is a young,
- 45:11Speaker 4: pretty young football team, and I just think it's it's
- 45:15Speaker 4: a bad message to send. It's just like if Christian
- 45:18Speaker 4: Gonzalez is watching this and he's saying, you know, in
- 45:20Speaker 4: two years when I want a new deal, I'm just gonna,
- 45:22Speaker 4: you know, take my pads off every once in a
- 45:25Speaker 4: while at training camp.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Well, we'll see what happens. If he ends up not
- 45:29Speaker 2: getting a deal and being traded, then then people are
- 45:33Speaker 2: gonna say, Okay, I'd rather be Gotsha and get the
- 45:36Speaker 2: deal than Jude On and not right.
- 45:38Speaker 4: But that's my point. If you let him do it,
- 45:40Speaker 4: and you keep letting him do this, right, it's coming
- 45:44Speaker 4: to a head.
- 45:44Speaker 5: Like and I just like, at some point it's either
- 45:46Speaker 5: got to be Matthew Judon just signed a new deal
- 45:48Speaker 5: and here he comes running out throwing T shirts at football.
- 45:51Speaker 4: I keep waiting for that to happen. I keep expecting
- 45:53Speaker 4: it to happen. But it's different.
- 45:55Speaker 3: It doesn't seem like it's it's close right now.
- 45:57Speaker 4: It doesn't.
- 45:58Speaker 6: It was just interesting because yesterday he did participate a
- 46:01Speaker 6: little bit and that was probably the most physical practice
- 46:03Speaker 6: I've ever seen in training camp. And then today it's
- 46:07Speaker 6: raining and like maybe he's thinking, oh if I slip
- 46:10Speaker 6: and tweak something, and now you know all this kind
- 46:12Speaker 6: of stuff. But you know, it kind of is.
- 46:15Speaker 3: A little bit like I used the other thing.
- 46:17Speaker 6: Now he's just unhappy here and doesn't want.
- 46:19Speaker 3: To be here.
- 46:19Speaker 2: And here's the other thing, like if they if they
- 46:22Speaker 2: do end up signing Ayuk, it's gonna be a lot
- 46:25Speaker 2: of money. I mean that puts Jude On in even
- 46:29Speaker 2: more of a tail spin because it's not about not
- 46:32Speaker 2: spending money. It's they don't want to spend money on me.
- 46:36Speaker 6: Yeah that that it doesn't strike me. As these rumors started.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Last then you have to move them.
- 46:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, he practices yesterday. Granted it was it
- 46:47Speaker 6: wasn't full tilt, but he practices yesterday, and then these
- 46:51Speaker 6: rumors happen overnight that the Patriots are not just interested
- 46:54Speaker 6: in Brandon Nyuk but also offering him the most money
- 46:56Speaker 6: out of the teams that are in the sweepstakes in
- 46:58Speaker 6: terms of contract, and today he's am I A. And
- 47:02Speaker 6: it just those things feel like they're connected, like there's
- 47:07Speaker 6: looking he's looking at it and saying, well, you're gonna
- 47:09Speaker 6: give you thirty million dollars a year, but you can't
- 47:11Speaker 6: give me an extra five to make money.
- 47:14Speaker 2: I think it's gotta be like if it was just
- 47:16Speaker 2: an extra five, I think it's a done deal. I
- 47:18Speaker 2: think it's he's got to be asking more than that.
- 47:20Speaker 6: So he said yesterday, and when he had Yeah, when
- 47:24Speaker 6: he said it this yesterday, I thought this was sort
- 47:27Speaker 6: of where his head was at. He mentioned that every
- 47:31Speaker 6: year somebody sets the bar for the top pass rushers
- 47:35Speaker 6: in the league, and we all fall in line off
- 47:38Speaker 6: of that is what he said, and then somebody next
- 47:40Speaker 6: year will break it, and the next year he wants
- 47:43Speaker 6: a record breaking deal.
- 47:44Speaker 3: Okay, well I'm gonna get that.
- 47:45Speaker 4: I didn't take it like that. I took him saying,
- 47:47Speaker 4: I know I'm not getting that like the record setting
- 47:51Speaker 4: you know, the sort of the market setting deal.
- 47:54Speaker 6: I took it.
- 47:55Speaker 4: Read this without my glasses. Now come on, Grandpa, come
- 47:59Speaker 4: on me.
- 48:00Speaker 3: I talk.
- 48:01Speaker 6: That is that he wants to going right, I can't read.
- 48:03Speaker 4: I'm going to play. I didn't say anything about practice.
- 48:07Speaker 4: That's yeah. We uh, we have a market set by
- 48:12Speaker 4: the highest guy. That's not really what my that's not
- 48:20Speaker 4: really what my market is. He said, coming off no,
- 48:23Speaker 4: coming off an injury.
- 48:24Speaker 3: No kidding.
- 48:25Speaker 4: So like, I don't I don't think he Maybe Evan's right,
- 48:28Speaker 4: but I don't think he's looking to set them up out.
- 48:29Speaker 3: But I read he's looking for more than an extra
- 48:31Speaker 3: five million.
- 48:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I think record breaking.
- 48:33Speaker 4: That's not going to get it done.
- 48:34Speaker 3: And I would give him an extra five to seven million.
- 48:36Speaker 3: I would do that. I'd bring him up to fifteen.
- 48:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I think record breaking deals.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Wasn't he wants twenty five?
- 48:43Speaker 6: Yeah? I think he exactly. I think he wants what
- 48:45Speaker 6: the going rate is for a Pro Bowl caliber pass rusher.
- 48:50Speaker 6: Not necessarily like what Nick Bosa god or something like that,
- 48:52Speaker 6: but the going rate of eighteen to twenty million dollars
- 48:56Speaker 6: for a guy that has his accolades and his resume
- 48:59Speaker 6: and just to pay, are just not going to do that,
- 49:01Speaker 6: it doesn't seem.
- 49:03Speaker 2: And he probably also wants multiple years, which is also
- 49:06Speaker 2: a consideration.
- 49:07Speaker 4: I mean, I think that you could get around that
- 49:09Speaker 4: because yeah, you can always cut them, but you know,
- 49:14Speaker 4: like if you didn't want.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Them, no, But let's say he wants Let's say he's
- 49:17Speaker 2: willing for fifteen, he's that's thirty over two. He's gonna
- 49:20Speaker 2: want twenty million guaranteed at least at least.
- 49:23Speaker 4: Yeah, but he's gonna get most of that guaranteed this year.
- 49:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I get it all this year.
- 49:27Speaker 4: And then you get rid of them if you don't
- 49:29Speaker 4: want them. That's the only direction I see a point.
- 49:30Speaker 4: But I kind of agree with you. I think he's
- 49:33Speaker 4: probably looking for like two years and fifty million instead
- 49:35Speaker 4: of two years and thirty million, you know which. I
- 49:38Speaker 4: had a real hard time see him sign a multi
- 49:40Speaker 4: year deal now.
- 49:41Speaker 5: I mean, it's just it feels like the only way
- 49:42Speaker 5: out of this thing if he stays here is a
- 49:44Speaker 5: sweetener for this year, and you give him a bump
- 49:46Speaker 5: and he's happy, and he said, all right, that's enough,
- 49:48Speaker 5: I'm gonna play, you know, out the string and then
- 49:51Speaker 5: the sweetener.
- 49:52Speaker 4: You know, I kind of agree with you, guys. I
- 49:54Speaker 4: think he's probably looking for more than just like an
- 49:56Speaker 4: extra five or six million. He's probably looking for closer
- 49:58Speaker 4: to like fifteen million. Yeah, and then you have there's
- 50:01Speaker 4: a conversation to have.
- 50:03Speaker 3: Yeah, all right?
- 50:04Speaker 2: Eight five to five Pats five hundred is the ace
- 50:06Speaker 2: ticket hotline. Eight five five pats five hundred. Web radio
- 50:10Speaker 2: at Patriots dot com is the email address. Let's get
- 50:14Speaker 2: to some of these emails, shall we. Kelly is in
- 50:17Speaker 2: Salt Lake, and he or she says, I'm seeing a
- 50:20Speaker 2: lot of pushback on X Machine about Ayuk to the
- 50:24Speaker 2: Patriots because it only makes them a six win team.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Wouldn't this trade be more of a long game trade though,
- 50:33Speaker 2: in hopes of having most of an offense constructed for
- 50:36Speaker 2: the next four to five years? Yes, so so much
- 50:38Speaker 2: short sighted commentary on him going to New England.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Do teams think of it that way?
- 50:44Speaker 9: No?
- 50:44Speaker 4: I think that that's accurate. That like, if you're making
- 50:46Speaker 4: this deal, it's get the one four year deal and
- 50:49Speaker 4: you hope that May and Ayuka your your lynch pins
- 50:53Speaker 4: are your offense yep? Right, years?
- 50:55Speaker 6: Yeah, He's only twenty six years old, right, So I
- 50:57Speaker 6: don't know why we would be thinking about it. He's
- 50:59Speaker 6: not thirty, and we're thinking about this as a one
- 51:01Speaker 6: or two year thing. But you know, maybe I talk
- 51:05Speaker 6: about rose color glasses. Maybe I have rose colored glasses
- 51:08Speaker 6: with it. But I think this year, if you had
- 51:11Speaker 6: Brandon Nayuk on the team, this year, I think they
- 51:15Speaker 6: could be frisky. I really do. Like there's not a line,
- 51:18Speaker 6: there's just not a.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Whole The offensive line is good. I think they could
- 51:22Speaker 2: be a good offense.
- 51:23Speaker 6: I don't even need the offensive line to be good,
- 51:24Speaker 6: but I need the quarterback to be good, and I
- 51:26Speaker 6: need the receivers to be I need the.
- 51:27Speaker 4: Quarterback to be good. If they're not sure, the quarterback
- 51:30Speaker 4: is ready to be good.
- 51:30Speaker 6: If those two things can if you need two out
- 51:32Speaker 6: of three, right, you need receivers, quarterback, offensive line play.
- 51:36Speaker 6: If they even just have quarterback and receiver giving them
- 51:39Speaker 6: good play. I mean we say it all the time.
- 51:42Speaker 6: There's not a whole lot separating them from it. From
- 51:45Speaker 6: the seventh seed in the in the AFC, right, like the.
- 51:48Speaker 4: Browns, Brandon Ayuk in my mind, like, I don't think
- 51:52Speaker 4: that's enough to like separate you from fifteenth seed in
- 51:55Speaker 4: the AFC to seventh seed in the AFC.
- 51:59Speaker 5: It's hard for me, is that the only being the
- 52:01Speaker 5: only jump of anybody, Like there's got to.
- 52:03Speaker 4: Be a quarterback, quarterback being better than last year, right,
- 52:07Speaker 4: Oh no, no, no, no, really, well, not better than last year,
- 52:10Speaker 4: but like, don't no, go from thirty first to like
- 52:12Speaker 4: twenty fifth.
- 52:13Speaker 6: I mean, like, what did Joe Flacco give the Browns
- 52:15Speaker 6: last year? They had a really good defense, and they
- 52:18Speaker 6: had a good system, offensively, good run game, all that
- 52:21Speaker 6: kind of stuff.
- 52:22Speaker 4: It was only Joe let the world on fire, way
- 52:25Speaker 4: better than Jacoby Brissett's capable of playing.
- 52:27Speaker 6: I don't agree with that.
- 52:28Speaker 4: On the stretch.
- 52:28Speaker 6: I think Jacoby Brissette played just as well as him
- 52:30Speaker 6: in twenty twenty two.
- 52:33Speaker 4: Oh and maybe in twenty twenty two, but not in
- 52:35Speaker 4: twenty twenty thirty. Flacco played played well in those games
- 52:38Speaker 4: down the stretch, and he still threw a lot of picks,
- 52:41Speaker 4: he still made a lot of plays.
- 52:43Speaker 2: I think I think we're underestimating how putrid that offense
- 52:48Speaker 2: was last year, and.
- 52:49Speaker 4: I'm not it.
- 52:51Speaker 3: It was so bad.
- 52:52Speaker 2: And I think that if you have a capable O
- 52:54Speaker 2: line this year, capable quarterback play and Ayuk, I think
- 53:00Speaker 2: you're miles ahead of.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Where you were last year.
- 53:02Speaker 4: Offensively, I don't think you are.
- 53:05Speaker 6: I feel similarly.
- 53:06Speaker 3: I mean, I think they were so bad last year.
- 53:09Speaker 4: I know, but everything was bad. You're saying now everything
- 53:11Speaker 4: is going to be good.
- 53:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I think.
- 53:12Speaker 4: I don't think that's right.
- 53:13Speaker 3: I think all I need is everything to be better.
- 53:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that everything will be better with Ayuk.
- 53:20Speaker 4: I think will make you a better offense. I'm not ry.
- 53:23Speaker 4: He doesn't make it well, but it doesn't make it
- 53:24Speaker 4: a good offense. But I think unless the quarterback is good,
- 53:27Speaker 4: and I don't think you have a good quarterback on
- 53:29Speaker 4: the ross, the.
- 53:30Speaker 3: Quarterback plays like Mac Jones, were screwed.
- 53:32Speaker 4: If the quarterback plays like Jacoby Brissett, you're screwed.
- 53:36Speaker 3: I think if Jakov he needs to play. If Jacoby
- 53:39Speaker 3: Brissette was our quarterback last year, we'd have six wins,
- 53:42Speaker 3: six seven.
- 53:42Speaker 4: Years, would have This is where I disagree with you.
- 53:44Speaker 3: He doesn't throw that interception against the car.
- 53:46Speaker 4: He also doesn't throw touchdowns against anybody. Look at his numbers.
- 53:50Speaker 4: He's not doesn't make mistakes because he doesn't try to
- 53:53Speaker 4: make plays.
- 53:53Speaker 2: It's true, but I I I'm telling you what we
- 53:57Speaker 2: saw last year was not NFL qual offense.
- 54:00Speaker 4: It wasn't it was it was putrid. I agree. I'm
- 54:04Speaker 4: not arguing with you about how bad it was last year.
- 54:06Speaker 4: It was terrible.
- 54:07Speaker 5: Yeah, That's why I feel like those last two offenses
- 54:09Speaker 5: like gas lit me like, I don't know anymore.
- 54:11Speaker 4: I just don't know what to respect.
- 54:13Speaker 5: Like this offense has looked okay to me, like it
- 54:15Speaker 5: looks competent, and you know, it seems like they can
- 54:18Speaker 5: put some plays together. I don't know if it means anything.
- 54:20Speaker 5: I really don't like.
- 54:21Speaker 3: I just it doesn't.
- 54:23Speaker 5: You got to get to the games and then I'll
- 54:24Speaker 5: be able to be like.
- 54:25Speaker 3: Oh we're seeing now does not really mean anything.
- 54:27Speaker 4: So you know what happens like now too, Like that
- 54:30Speaker 4: that practice is so you're so right, Mike, cause it's
- 54:32Speaker 4: so deceiving, Like they want to set the ball up,
- 54:34Speaker 4: they want to set this sequence of plays and they
- 54:36Speaker 4: want to run right. Mayo has said it several times.
- 54:40Speaker 4: The players are saying what Mayo is saying in meetings
- 54:43Speaker 4: about wanting to run the ball and be a physical team.
- 54:46Speaker 4: So what we're seeing in camp more often than not
- 54:48Speaker 4: is a run play that gets stuffed for nothing and
- 54:51Speaker 4: another run play that gets stuff for nothing. So that's
- 54:54Speaker 4: not the like, to me, the formula for any kind
- 54:57Speaker 4: of thing success. Now what might happen after that? Today
- 55:00Speaker 4: at practice, you might get a run play for nothing,
- 55:03Speaker 4: then the next play is like a twelve yard hook
- 55:05Speaker 4: to kJ Osborne. Like in practice, like that might happen,
- 55:10Speaker 4: but it's different, see what I'm saying. It's different, Like
- 55:13Speaker 4: it's second and eleven up and you're working on what
- 55:16Speaker 4: you're working on. Now it comes to blitz and it
- 55:18Speaker 4: comes or maybe they go coverage like it changes everything,
- 55:22Speaker 4: like it's yeah, and it goes back to what I
- 55:24Speaker 4: was saying of I just I have no idea under
- 55:26Speaker 4: normal game conditions with the play clock running and plays
- 55:30Speaker 4: coming in and out and the pressure of that. Concerns
- 55:33Speaker 4: about that I don't know what it looks like. And
- 55:34Speaker 4: because this is pretty much every day out of eleven
- 55:37Speaker 4: days where the play clock's always running down, Like I'm
- 55:40Speaker 4: not talking about like getting snapping the ball in the
- 55:43Speaker 4: last five seconds. Every team does that on a consistent basis.
- 55:47Speaker 4: They don't look like they're ready to snap the ball
- 55:50Speaker 4: like often today the ball was on the ground five times.
- 55:54Speaker 6: Yeah, it just looks like the there's a difference between
- 55:57Speaker 6: like the plays look cleaner or consistently. I'm not saying
- 56:01Speaker 6: it's all the time, but there's more clean plays that
- 56:04Speaker 6: are going on now. But it's it's clean plays in
- 56:07Speaker 6: the vacuum. It's not a it's not a drive strung
- 56:09Speaker 6: together where they're getting the play in, they're making the call,
- 56:12Speaker 6: they're getting to the line of scrimmage, and they're driving
- 56:14Speaker 6: the football. It's more just oh, that was a nice play.
- 56:18Speaker 4: I would say overall, they've had like longer periods where
- 56:24Speaker 4: they've looked decent than they did last year. But I
- 56:27Speaker 4: think it's pretty similar to last year. Now. If you
- 56:30Speaker 4: had told me last year at this time that they
- 56:32Speaker 4: were going to have the offense they did in the
- 56:33Speaker 4: regular season, I would have said, no, they're not going
- 56:35Speaker 4: to be that bad, because it wasn't that bad in
- 56:37Speaker 4: camp two years ago. In camp, it was just as
- 56:40Speaker 4: bad as it was last year in the regular season.
- 56:43Speaker 4: Like everything that happened two years ago, the Patricia year
- 56:46Speaker 4: we all saw every day in camp. I didn't think
- 56:48Speaker 4: it was quote unquote that bad in camp last year.
- 56:52Speaker 4: I agree, I was wrong.
- 56:53Speaker 3: It was right.
- 56:54Speaker 4: I was fooling myself because I was blinded, but because
- 56:58Speaker 4: I liked Billy Oh when I was thinking, it's better,
- 57:01Speaker 4: they have a sequence. They have they have a plan,
- 57:03Speaker 4: they know what they're doing.
- 57:04Speaker 2: They didn't, and they should have because it was also
- 57:06Speaker 2: a third year quarterback. Now, even though it's a third
- 57:09Speaker 2: new system, you know, Mac had been in the league
- 57:13Speaker 2: for three years at that point.
- 57:14Speaker 3: Crassett has a good should have looked better.
- 57:17Speaker 4: If Brissette has a like a good year, like not
- 57:19Speaker 4: like a good year for Brissette, like a good year
- 57:22Speaker 4: for an average quarterback. Like he's somewhere, you know, in
- 57:25Speaker 4: the middle of the pack. Let's call him somewhere between
- 57:28Speaker 4: thirteen and nineteen, right in there. Their offense can be
- 57:32Speaker 4: markedly better than it was last year, because that's good
- 57:35Speaker 4: quarterback play.
- 57:36Speaker 3: He's good.
- 57:37Speaker 6: Yeah, he was close to that in Cleveland.
- 57:39Speaker 4: I don't think he was. I mean statistically he was
- 57:42Speaker 4: the games going back to this.
- 57:45Speaker 6: Because I thus when they lose a game thirty one
- 57:47Speaker 6: to thirty on a last second, I don't.
- 57:50Speaker 4: Think Cleveland Steve it's funny thirty. When Deshaun Watson wins
- 57:54Speaker 4: games not playing well, it's because he has a great defense.
- 57:56Speaker 4: Suddenly Brisett's losing thirty one thirty every week, not every
- 58:00Speaker 4: going to have I don't think you can exactly. It
- 58:02Speaker 4: wasn't every week, it was it might have been one
- 58:03Speaker 4: game that he lost like that. They were like, he's
- 58:07Speaker 4: consistently not a good quarterback in the NFL. Like that's
- 58:10Speaker 4: what the numbers say. He's consistently losing every and he's
- 58:14Speaker 4: had multiple opportunities like in Indy, in Cleveland, even in
- 58:18Speaker 4: Washington last year.
- 58:18Speaker 3: He's not He's not a playmaker.
- 58:21Speaker 4: No, he's a safe guy who's not gonna throw interceptions
- 58:24Speaker 4: and he's not going to make any plays for you.
- 58:26Speaker 4: He holds the ball too long. Those don't kill your stats, right,
- 58:30Speaker 4: because he's not throwing interceptions and he's not putting the
- 58:34Speaker 4: ball in harm's way. He's not throwing a complete past.
- 58:37Speaker 3: That's why this offense is.
- 58:38Speaker 6: I'm telling you that he's dynamic. My argument is simply
- 58:41Speaker 6: that he's just competent, and competent is better than what
- 58:44Speaker 6: they had.
- 58:45Speaker 4: And I agree, competent is better than what they had.
- 58:48Speaker 6: And if the way he's practiced, I think has been
- 58:50Speaker 6: competent as well at times, and if that's going to
- 58:54Speaker 6: be the case that they're gonna even if he's the
- 58:55Speaker 6: twentieth best quarterback in the league, it's still better than
- 58:58Speaker 6: what they had.
- 58:58Speaker 4: So that's not better enough.
- 59:00Speaker 3: So here's the silver lining for this year.
- 59:02Speaker 2: Whether it's Jakobe Brissett or Drake May, the offense is
- 59:06Speaker 2: going to be better than last year.
- 59:07Speaker 6: I'm not ready.
- 59:07Speaker 3: I'm going out on a limb.
- 59:09Speaker 6: I'm not ready to say.
- 59:11Speaker 3: I am again. We're underestimating how bad it was last year.
- 59:15Speaker 4: I think you're overestimating what they have for personnel right now.
- 59:18Speaker 4: They don't have personnel. It's any better than that's different.
- 59:22Speaker 4: You can't that better?
- 59:24Speaker 6: I got it right, It wasn't.
- 59:26Speaker 4: Didn't I say, like, the offense will be better if
- 59:28Speaker 4: I is here. I'm not going to say I'm stubborn,
- 59:31Speaker 4: but I'm not going to argue that's not going to
- 59:32Speaker 4: make your offense better. He's going to make it better.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and listen, I think Pop Douglas, if he studies healthy, uh,
- 59:39Speaker 2: second year, I think he'll be better. We've already seen
- 59:43Speaker 2: that in practice. How like more comfortable he is. He's
- 59:46Speaker 2: he looks different whenever he's out there. It's going to
- 59:50Speaker 2: be I don't know. How much better, But I guarantee
- 59:52Speaker 2: it will be better offense than last year.
- 59:55Speaker 4: So the one thing especially had something we could quantify
- 59:57Speaker 4: it with, Well, you won't until I'm not going with
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: stats like I'm not telling.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: You like it's no your eye test. You'll know.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: Then you're going to argue it's better, and I'm gonna
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: argue it wasn't. Oh that's useless. No, I listen, and
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: neither one of us is right or wrong that they
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: win games.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Are looking I'm the guy that said I was perfectly
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: happy with Mac Jones as my quarterback. I was wrong.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: I'm ready to admit it. Actually I was ready to
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: admit now. I was ready to admit it at the
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: end of the first season.
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: You know, I think Max, that could I think the
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: one thing that I because we were at those Green
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: Bay Joint practices and it was I can't I always
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: forget which the day was which, but there was one
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: day where the Patriots offense won the final portion of
- 1:00:39Speaker 6: the practice. And looking back on it, though, there was
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: a lot of pressure on the quarterback in those periods
- 1:00:45Speaker 6: that in games, that attrition eventually leads to Mac having
- 1:00:49Speaker 6: the yips and him falling apart but because he's in
- 1:00:52Speaker 6: a red non contact jersey and he doesn't have that
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: same fear of getting hit or the attrition of getting
- 1:00:57Speaker 6: hanging in there, you're just kind of standing in there
- 1:00:59Speaker 6: and making rows. If their offensive line play, assuming they
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: don't have Brandon Nyuk, if their offensive line play doesn't
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: look any better than it did last year, then I'm
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: still going to think that I have a new I.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Just thought of a new technology that teams can incorporate
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: where when you're in practice and the quarterback can't get
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: hit in a play where he would have been.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: Hit, you can shock them.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: So there's a button that the offensive corn can hit
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: and shock them. So there is there is something. There
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: is some penalty for holding the ball too long.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: And why are you so hell bent on violence?
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: Because I want to get the violence conditioned to.
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: Story about how he wanted to get like the kickers
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: like Gastowski and Gramatica, and they were he wanted to
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: put their like wives with a knife to their throat.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: And literally, I'm not I don't know. I said the
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: threat of that. I said, you go up behind them.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: And you threaten to kill. They don't want to make
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: a kill, kill their family. If you don't make this
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: feel good. I mean, let's get it. Let's go.
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: It was like it wasn't little defense.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: But you get the point.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: I wish I didn't bring it up.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Let's make this up, pressurize the situation as we can.
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: It's the hardest part about watching practice to me. And
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: you know, people that that charted. Some people will call
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: them sacks and like, you know, you you touched them down, sack, right,
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: But in a game, you know, does the quarterback.
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: Shake out of it? Does he get out of the pocket?
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: I say, that's one of his biggest strengths.
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: Right, And how does the pressure of actually getting hit,
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: How does that over the course of four quarters have
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: an impact on the quarterback? You don't know in practice.
- 1:02:45Speaker 6: So that's the hardest part to me of gauging whether
- 1:02:47Speaker 6: or not it's actually looking good or not. Is you know,
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: there's a lot going on in that offensive line, defensive line,
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: in the trenches and.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: Thank you Ara prog old school football. Let's go practice
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: like you play.
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: When like the linebacker comes in and he just taps
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: him in the button then just goes like one.
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: And you know, I don't mind on the sacks when
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: they do that because like, I want the least amount
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: of contact around the quarterback. Don't get around his legs.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: I don't want.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: But it's like the quick little out to the receiver
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: and then the receiver catches it, turns up and the
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: cournerback is yeah, that's tackle, you know, like the ones
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: that like Jalen Polkad, like the one that he turned
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: up yesterday in the live tackling, Like that's what you say.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: Alex Austin went up and was no problem diving at
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: his feet and didn't even come close to making the tackle.
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: He's like, yeah, that was the thing that Garrodd said
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: about the live tackling yesterday was that they're trying to
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: evaluate the players, and he said it's one thing, you know.
- 1:03:44Speaker 10: He called it.
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: The thudding is what they usually call which is when
- 1:03:47Speaker 6: you kind of wrap and like, yeah, studding. It's like,
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: you know, it's like a nice put.
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: His shoulder into a guy in your kidding, Yeah.
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: Like nice initial contact, but no tackling to the ground.
- 1:03:58Speaker 6: And he said that, you know, that's not real football.
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: So how am I supposed to come out here and
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: evaluate Alex Austen and say that he's one of the
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: three best corners on the team when I haven't even
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: asked the guy to tackle anybody yet, and then all
- 1:04:11Speaker 6: of a sudden we get into a game we can't tackle, right.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: The interesting point too, is uh I think it was
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: from football outsiders just pointing out how well the Patriots
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: defense tackled historically for years, you know, just things have
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: changed a little bit, and I you know, I think
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: we all would say, like, maybe this is a little
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: bit better to prepare you to tackle. I don't know,
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: but that's one thing characteristic.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: I think historically the Patriots have been a good tackling team,
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: but recently there were a couple of seasons where that's
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: all we did was lament about how they missed.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: Tackles because it's hard to tackle in the open field
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: in the NFL. No, I'm dead stillry like they are
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: one of the better tackling teams in the league. And
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: I think that one of the reasons for that is
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: because there's so fundamentally sound. It's almost never a guy
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: on an island having to make a tackle that there's
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: always layers.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: One thing, you know, Bill drilled in and don't let
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: get guys get behind you, don't give up the big play.
- 1:05:06Speaker 6: Yeah. Statistically they've been one of the best tackling teams.
- 1:05:09Speaker 6: You're in and you're out, like in terms of rate
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: of mistackles and things like that.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: All Right, we're at the halfway point, so good time

- 1:06:50Speaker 7: Only Well, hello, Ranny Day.
- 1:06:55Speaker 12: I think it'd be good for the players to come
- 1:06:57Speaker 12: out here and continue to work on their fundamentals.
- 1:07:00Speaker 7: Now that the grass is slick.
- 1:07:01Speaker 12: Obviously you probably see some people on the ground, and
- 1:07:03Speaker 12: there'll be great teaching moments. I know, you know where
- 1:07:07Speaker 12: all you guys want to know. One thing I did
- 1:07:09Speaker 12: learn from Bill is I just I don't talk about
- 1:07:11Speaker 12: players on other team, so this let me go ahead
- 1:07:13Speaker 12: and say that now. But I remember as a player,
- 1:07:16Speaker 12: you know, I appreciated that. I appreciated that the only
- 1:07:18Speaker 12: opinions that mattered were inside the walls, and so I'm
- 1:07:22Speaker 12: still trying to apply that now going forward.
- 1:07:25Speaker 13: Can you confirm it all that there's you know, talks ongoing.
- 1:07:30Speaker 7: Look, I'll be honest with you, that's more of an
- 1:07:32Speaker 7: Elliot question.
- 1:07:34Speaker 12: Right now, I'm just focused on the guys out here,
- 1:07:36Speaker 12: the New England Patriots.
- 1:07:37Speaker 7: Sorry, do you.
- 1:07:38Speaker 14: Guys, how do you feel about the odd the wide
- 1:07:40Speaker 14: receiver groups?
- 1:07:43Speaker 7: Oh? Those guys are those guys are working hard.
- 1:07:45Speaker 12: They're getting better every day now from Elliott in my perspective,
- 1:07:49Speaker 12: we're always trying to get better, no matter what position
- 1:07:51Speaker 12: we're talking about, no matter how those those guys get here,
- 1:07:54Speaker 12: whether it's through cuts or through trades or whatever, We're
- 1:07:56Speaker 12: always looking to improve our team and win.
- 1:07:58Speaker 13: Now there is more both reports out there that the
- 1:08:01Speaker 13: forty nine ers have negotiated a trade offer you guys
- 1:08:05Speaker 13: about Brandon and I you can They've allowed him to
- 1:08:07Speaker 13: speak to you guys, So I don't think it falls.
- 1:08:09Speaker 6: Into tampringer or anything.
- 1:08:10Speaker 13: But so can you confirm that?
- 1:08:13Speaker 12: I can't, you know, Like I said earlier, I'm just
- 1:08:15Speaker 12: focused on the guys in the in the room.
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: So here, what say yesterday?
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: Any comments on what he had to say.
- 1:08:21Speaker 7: Look, Judon is doing what he has to do.
- 1:08:24Speaker 12: He's out here every day, he's in pads, He'll be
- 1:08:26Speaker 12: in pads today as well.
- 1:08:27Speaker 7: He's doing everything in the meeting rooms.
- 1:08:29Speaker 12: And look, it was a hiccup, and I feel like
- 1:08:31Speaker 12: we're on the same page and we're moving.
- 1:08:32Speaker 14: Forward when the player's attitude is I'm just doing what
- 1:08:35Speaker 14: I need to do so I don't get fined.
- 1:08:36Speaker 6: Is that good for the team right now?
- 1:08:38Speaker 12: Look, I mean every day it's its own day. Like
- 1:08:40Speaker 12: sometimes I come to work and I don't feel like
- 1:08:42Speaker 12: talking at all either. He both as a player and
- 1:08:43Speaker 12: also as a coach, So it's day to day. And
- 1:08:46Speaker 12: what I will say about Judon, he always brings great
- 1:08:48Speaker 12: energy to the practice field, brings great energy in the
- 1:08:50Speaker 12: locker room. And and that is the expectation that he
- 1:08:52Speaker 12: said early on, and I don't see it any different now.
- 1:08:55Speaker 11: Is it your understanding of the team's approach with his negotiations?
- 1:08:58Speaker 15: Is it all affected by other negotiations you might be
- 1:09:01Speaker 15: having through your conversations with other way.
- 1:09:03Speaker 12: No, all of those conversations are independent of each other.
- 1:09:05Speaker 12: So I guess to answer your question hopefully, hopefully.
- 1:09:08Speaker 15: That another move before you do anything with ju dunk.
- 1:09:11Speaker 12: Everything is its own independent move and that's how we
- 1:09:14Speaker 12: look at it.
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: For Drake in that thirst date's opener.
- 1:09:18Speaker 7: Uh, Drake will play.
- 1:09:20Speaker 12: Drake will play and you know when he gets in
- 1:09:22Speaker 12: the game, we'll we'll talk about that, but he will
- 1:09:24Speaker 12: play in the game. Look, everyone who is healthy enough
- 1:09:27Speaker 12: to play in the game will play in the game.
- 1:09:29Speaker 12: That's more than you've ever gotten.
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: How much?
- 1:09:35Speaker 7: Not sure? Now you're going too far.
- 1:09:37Speaker 6: Vision all four quarterbacks playing.
- 1:09:40Speaker 12: Uh So as of today, like that's the plan to
- 1:09:42Speaker 12: have all those guys out there playing. And once again,
- 1:09:44Speaker 12: it goes back to competing. So yesterday, you know, you
- 1:09:47Speaker 12: guys saw the live tackling period and things like that
- 1:09:49Speaker 12: that I think is very important and you don't want
- 1:09:52Speaker 12: the first time these guys have to get hit or
- 1:09:54Speaker 12: hit someone else to be in the preseason game.
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: So we got to see what these guys can do
- 1:09:58Speaker 7: with live action.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: Have you talked to say a contract off of a page?
- 1:10:02Speaker 7: Jud I'm not going to discuss his contract situation. Elliott.
- 1:10:07Speaker 10: You know it's been i'd say aggressive trying to improve
- 1:10:11Speaker 10: this team throughout the offseason. Some things you know haven't worked,
- 1:10:13Speaker 10: but it seems like he's doing everything and one, how
- 1:10:15Speaker 10: much do you like his approach into how much are
- 1:10:17Speaker 10: you guys on the same page with what you know
- 1:10:19Speaker 10: you're trying to build?
- 1:10:19Speaker 12: Yeah, I love Elliot's approach to getting better. Once again,
- 1:10:22Speaker 12: like on the outside, we don't have a chance, but
- 1:10:25Speaker 12: we're always trying to get the team better and Elliott
- 1:10:27Speaker 12: and his staff grow. Those guys have been doing a
- 1:10:28Speaker 12: good job identifying pieces that will help us win.
- 1:10:31Speaker 7: Now, we've been on the same page.
- 1:10:33Speaker 12: For a long time, even before I got this role
- 1:10:35Speaker 12: and before he got his role. Uh, we've had a
- 1:10:37Speaker 12: good relationship since since then, and our philosophy is been married.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: Do you think let's go ahead?
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: Go ahead?
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: Oh so you spe like being at the stops first?
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: All right? Hear you used the word collaborative a lot
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: in the draft process. Does that apply as well to
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: roll street cutdowns?
- 1:10:56Speaker 16: When you guys reach the final fifty three the players
- 1:10:58Speaker 16: you want.
- 1:11:00Speaker 12: And I would also say the assistant coaches and Elliott
- 1:11:02Speaker 12: and the rest of his staff also have a say. Ultimately,
- 1:11:05Speaker 12: Elliott and I have to make a final call, but
- 1:11:07Speaker 12: we try to stay collaborative.
- 1:11:08Speaker 15: In that approach, knowing you guys are always trying to
- 1:11:11Speaker 15: get better. As you've said, is there additional urgency to
- 1:11:15Speaker 15: try to improve the roster because you have a young quarterback.
- 1:11:18Speaker 15: I know we're not sure when he's actually going to play,
- 1:11:20Speaker 15: but is there urgency on the team's end to make
- 1:11:22Speaker 15: sure you're giving him the best environment possible.
- 1:11:24Speaker 12: There's always a sense of urgency to get good players.
- 1:11:27Speaker 12: And you know everyone talks about young quarterbacks and surrounding
- 1:11:29Speaker 12: them with good players. Look, we got we have an
- 1:11:32Speaker 12: older quarterback, and we want to surround him with good
- 1:11:33Speaker 12: players as well, and we're gonna put the best product
- 1:11:36Speaker 12: or the best team out there that we can.
- 1:11:37Speaker 13: Yes sake, I want to say, is Jermia Farms taking
- 1:11:41Speaker 13: sounds of the gold back?
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: Is that a plan for the season going in or
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: is that just kind of trying.
- 1:11:45Speaker 12: Yeah, it's kind of an experiment at this point in time.
- 1:11:48Speaker 12: Remember Keon did play you know, tight end in college
- 1:11:50Speaker 12: as well, So it's an experiment, experiment.
- 1:11:53Speaker 17: I'm trying to go back to what Mike was saying before.
- 1:11:54Speaker 17: So you gave us a lot as far as you
- 1:11:56Speaker 17: know who's going to potentially play here quarterback? And when
- 1:11:58Speaker 17: did the players know that as well? Have you informed
- 1:12:01Speaker 17: them sort of what they're gonna be doing on Thursday night.
- 1:12:03Speaker 12: Uh not at this time, so they'll read it probably
- 1:12:05Speaker 12: in one of your articles or something like that. But
- 1:12:08Speaker 12: but the expect once again, though, the expectation is that
- 1:12:12Speaker 12: everyone's always gonna play like. We don't want to just
- 1:12:15Speaker 12: sit people out and you know it kind of lose
- 1:12:18Speaker 12: an opportunity to go out there with live bullets fly.
- 1:12:20Speaker 7: Probably not a good analogy, but that's how I think about.
- 1:12:23Speaker 14: You want you, Kobe to start on Thursday night.
- 1:12:26Speaker 12: That's the plan. And once again, look, I'm telling you
- 1:12:28Speaker 12: guys this today. I mean, it could change as the
- 1:12:31Speaker 12: week continues to progress, but that is the plan.
- 1:12:33Speaker 14: What were your theories on the live tackling, of course
- 1:12:35Speaker 14: that we saw and the practice.
- 1:12:37Speaker 12: Yeah, that we need it, and you know, it goes
- 1:12:38Speaker 12: into fundamentals, like we can do all the scalloping and
- 1:12:41Speaker 12: fitting and thudding up that you want to. It's a
- 1:12:42Speaker 12: lot different trying to get a man to the ground.
- 1:12:44Speaker 12: So that was as far as our evaluation and competing,
- 1:12:48Speaker 12: we wanted to see who could actually do that. You know,
- 1:12:50Speaker 12: sometimes you have those guys in shorts that kind of
- 1:12:52Speaker 12: look great and then once it's time to put the
- 1:12:54Speaker 12: Shouler pats on a tackle, they just kind of disappear.
- 1:12:56Speaker 12: We're trying to kind of weed that.
- 1:12:57Speaker 13: Out as far as roster competitions go, not just a quarterback,
- 1:13:01Speaker 13: with all positions. How do you personally weigh practice versus preseason?
- 1:13:05Speaker 12: Actually, yeah, there's nothing more important that we do than practice,
- 1:13:10Speaker 12: and it's about the day after day after day trending in.
- 1:13:13Speaker 7: The right direction.
- 1:13:14Speaker 12: So look the preseason game where they play a series
- 1:13:17Speaker 12: a quarter and a half like, those are important as well,
- 1:13:19Speaker 12: But remember that's just straight like, it's not really scheme
- 1:13:22Speaker 12: like when we're out here on the football field and sorry,
- 1:13:24Speaker 12: the practice field, it's a little bit more scheme, a
- 1:13:26Speaker 12: little bit more thinking. So I think practice is the
- 1:13:29Speaker 12: most important at this time.
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: A player you do have in your roster. Kendrick Form
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: is primarily featured in some of these.
- 1:13:35Speaker 15: Reports where players are involved in trade talk to rumors.
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: Have you spoken to him or do you feel compelled
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: to speak to him about him?
- 1:13:41Speaker 12: Yeah, you know, honestly, I did talk to him this
- 1:13:45Speaker 12: morning and it was a good conversation. And once again,
- 1:13:47Speaker 12: I feel like the story is so much further along
- 1:13:50Speaker 12: than anything else.
- 1:13:51Speaker 7: I just wanted to make sure we cleared the air.
- 1:13:53Speaker 12: And I do believe in being transparent with the players
- 1:13:56Speaker 12: and really just setting those guys at.
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: Ease the outside, agnostigated of what they see or whatever.
- 1:14:01Speaker 7: As far as you guys concerned players all the way through.
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: You know, whether you acquire better players or what have you,
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: how good do you think this team can be right
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: from the get go, especially if you acquire more talent.
- 1:14:13Speaker 7: I mean, look, I don't have a crystal ball.
- 1:14:15Speaker 12: We'll wait and see, but what I will say is
- 1:14:17Speaker 12: we'll be better as the season goes on. I don't
- 1:14:19Speaker 12: know if the first game we go out there and
- 1:14:21Speaker 12: get beat or beat whoever we're playing. I think teams
- 1:14:23Speaker 12: are still trying to figure out the identity because now
- 1:14:25Speaker 12: we only have three preseason games as well, so you know,
- 1:14:28Speaker 12: we'll see what happens to You.
- 1:14:30Speaker 16: Guys would have the season ticket holder practice in the
- 1:14:32Speaker 16: stadium before the first preseason game, and Bill would always
- 1:14:37Speaker 16: use that, he said, as kind of a practice run
- 1:14:39Speaker 16: for not only the players, but the coaching staff.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: You guys won't get in there for the season.
- 1:14:44Speaker 16: Ticket holder practice before Thursday, but have you had ample
- 1:14:47Speaker 16: time in the stadium to go through that?
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: How do you feel about just the logistics of your.
- 1:14:51Speaker 12: Staff's a great question. We have gone through that, and
- 1:14:54Speaker 12: tomorrow we'll go through it as well. We'll get the
- 1:14:55Speaker 12: coaches up in the box and we'll just have a
- 1:14:57Speaker 12: mock game substitutions all.
- 1:14:59Speaker 7: Those things over.
- 1:15:00Speaker 12: It's a real it's a test for us, but also
- 1:15:02Speaker 12: you know, it's something that we can probably improve and
- 1:15:05Speaker 12: we'll see how it plays out tomorrow.
- 1:15:07Speaker 7: Sorry, you've personally.
- 1:15:09Speaker 14: Been the head coach here for six months. Now Thursday
- 1:15:11Speaker 14: night get to see your team in the full uniform.
- 1:15:14Speaker 14: You get to put on the headset. What's it like
- 1:15:16Speaker 14: for you.
- 1:15:16Speaker 7: I'm excited.
- 1:15:17Speaker 12: I'm excited to be on the sideline and honestly I'm
- 1:15:19Speaker 12: excited for the players to go out there and perform.
- 1:15:21Speaker 7: Well, so that's the main thing. All right, Thanks guys, appreciate.
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: And now great moments in history go to the A
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: ticket outline. Rogers in Foxborough.
- 1:15:33Speaker 7: Hey Roger, Hey, guys.
- 1:15:35Speaker 9: First of all, I think you need to let Megan
- 1:15:36Speaker 9: talk more. You guys bickering in the background. She's the
- 1:15:38Speaker 9: best you have on that shoulder.
- 1:15:40Speaker 8: Okay, well listen another sun, My god, it's gonna be bigger.
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: Dundee there's no muzzle on Megan. She can talk anytime
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: she wants.
- 1:15:49Speaker 9: So I heard that dontrell and is retiring. Does that
- 1:15:52Speaker 9: mean we have a chance for Dannyetlink to be a littit.
- 1:15:54Speaker 18: Receiver on this team.
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't know about the retiring thing. But Dontrell
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: Iman looks lost in the first three days in practice.
- 1:16:01Speaker 9: Second right, he didn't he was late to camp and
- 1:16:03Speaker 9: now he's not out here.
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: It feels like a guy contrel Imine wasn't late. He
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: was not late to camp.
- 1:16:07Speaker 11: No, there were reports that he was not going to
- 1:16:09Speaker 11: show up on time, and then he did.
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: But he was, he was, he was, but he was here. Yeah,
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: your mouth, lady, Wow, you can continue to make stuff up.
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: But he's been the first guy on the field the
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: first three days and then you can call him late
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: if you want. But that's okay. Then you can come
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: without information and just be as smart.
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: All right, you're right, thanks, Roger.
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: I'm sorry, You're right, Roger, Roger bringing it.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: That's another great moment from back.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: Here on pages filled. That was Andy Hart who was
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: who got me.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: I was legit annoyed you were you were? I was
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: legit annoyed that was not an act. I was annoyed.
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: It's almost like he knew how to push your button.
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: But you know what, when you were annoyed, like we
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: were married for twenty years.
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: When you're annoyed, Paul, you know what's a good thing
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: to do. It's easy to drink, It's easy.
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: To when joy bud Light, the official beer sponsor of
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: the New England Patriots. And you know what else is depressing?
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Schools almost starting again. It's officially back to school season
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: and you can find everything you need to design your
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: dream dorm at Bob's Discount Furniture. Set up a stylish
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: study spot. They love the alliteration, with plenty of small space,
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: friendly seating, a plus bedroom sets and of course smart
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: storage made to maximize your college HQ. So stop in
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: and make the grade with Bob's Discount Furniture, the official
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: furniture store of the New England Page.
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: Maybe maybe you could have done some of that polls.
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: Then again, your kid a sectional you found on the
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: side of the road.
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: We didn't find someone living in the same apartment complex
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: that Will is living in now was giving one away
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: at the end of the school year. So I said,
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: let's take it. Yeah, absolutely, I feel like you got
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: to have a section.
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: But it wasn't outside that was mine. We actually did
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: find our. It was like the color of the green
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: monster sectional that got us through college. And I think
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: that's just something you got to have in college, a
- 1:18:06Speaker 5: crappy old sectional.
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure they don't like when you critique the
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: copy when you're reading on behalf of the sponsor.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: Well, we all love Bob's furniture, but whoever's writing their
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: copy obviously doesn't read it.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: Have to read it out loud, So.
- 1:18:20Speaker 6: Try to read it out loud before sending it to us,
- 1:18:22Speaker 6: right fact.
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: Right, Well maybe Fred could read it out loud before
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: he reads it on the air.
- 1:18:27Speaker 6: Listen practice in the mirror called show Prepa.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: Of course.
- 1:18:35Speaker 6: The bulls no, because I got to do it on
- 1:18:37Speaker 6: Catch twenty two and and then I stumble all over
- 1:18:39Speaker 6: the words too.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: It's not that hard. Mike will show them. We'll show
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: him Thursday.
- 1:18:44Speaker 6: We happen to ride Let's ride no inactives on Thursday.
- 1:18:49Speaker 6: So if you if you meet your boy, then you
- 1:18:51Speaker 6: can you can call upon me.
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: If I'm sitting here alone.
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: All right, A five to five, let's go to Christian
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: in la what's up question?
- 1:19:01Speaker 9: Hey you guys, good day, see you, Good to hear
- 1:19:03Speaker 9: from you, and good to talk to you guys. So
- 1:19:06Speaker 9: I've been flip flopping back and forth on my expected
- 1:19:11Speaker 9: or desire win total, and it's partially because the last
- 1:19:15Speaker 9: few practices, and I know there was a couple where
- 1:19:17Speaker 9: there was a couple of guys who got behind people
- 1:19:21Speaker 9: got open. But for the most part, I'm just saying
- 1:19:24Speaker 9: everybody is contest to catch it over and over again,
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: and that kind of has me worried that the like
- 1:19:30Speaker 9: you guys said earlier, the skill level just hasn't risen
- 1:19:33Speaker 9: enough for us to really even though it may look
- 1:19:36Speaker 9: better and more contain a little sharper than last year,
- 1:19:40Speaker 9: it isn't seeming like it's going to produce any more wins.
- 1:19:43Speaker 9: That's one thing. And then secondly, what do you guys
- 1:19:46Speaker 9: think is sort of holding Drake May back? Meaning during
- 1:19:52Speaker 9: the draft it was sort of known that each of
- 1:19:54Speaker 9: the three quarterbacks could go. You know, May could have
- 1:19:57Speaker 9: gone first, Daniels could have gone first, and Kaylee could
- 1:20:00Speaker 9: have gone first, and so their skill set was comparable
- 1:20:03Speaker 9: for the most part. But what do you guys feel
- 1:20:05Speaker 9: is not clicking for Drake that he's not making those
- 1:20:08Speaker 9: things for the leafs that Daniels and Kayles seem to
- 1:20:10Speaker 9: already be showing with their.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: I have no idea what those guys here.
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I I look, I wouldn't characterize it
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: that it's contested catch after contest, like there certainly are
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: contested catches, but there are some open plays too. There's
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: not a lot of consistent plays across the board contested
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: or not contested. But I don't think that that's really
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: inaccurate that like nobody gets over like That's what I think.
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: What I've liked about some of the plays the offense
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: have made is that they look in time, there's a
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: receiver coming into the window, he catches the ball in
- 1:20:37Speaker 5: the window, and he's off.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: So a lot of these contested catches or does not
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: their back shoulder catches down the sideline, Yeah, those are
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: meant to be contested.
- 1:20:46Speaker 6: There's not a ton of down the field open like
- 1:20:50Speaker 6: deep down the field. I'm not talking about ten yards,
- 1:20:53Speaker 6: fifteen yards, forty yards like down the field. We don't
- 1:20:56Speaker 6: have a Tyreek kill in camp who's running by the
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: entire defense and is waltzing into the end zone like
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: he did today on like a sixty yard bomb from
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: Tua from one of the videos I saw. But I
- 1:21:07Speaker 6: also just say that with the other reports, those teams
- 1:21:12Speaker 6: have made it abundantly clear that those guys are starting
- 1:21:15Speaker 6: week one no matter what. You know, they are not
- 1:21:17Speaker 6: going into it with like a Jacoby Rossett who might
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: be a bridge quarterback and might do it that way.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: So they're getting ready for the season, Yeah, with their
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: starting quarterback, right.
- 1:21:28Speaker 6: I don't think that there's necessarily no competition. No, there's
- 1:21:32Speaker 6: no competition and they're not running with the twos and
- 1:21:34Speaker 6: they're not you know, there's not I don't think it's
- 1:21:37Speaker 6: reported on the same when those things are happening, If
- 1:21:40Speaker 6: that makes sense, they are the starters week one, right,
- 1:21:44Speaker 6: I mean they come out with depth charts, some of
- 1:21:46Speaker 6: these teams do, and it's QB one Caleb Williams, QB one,
- 1:21:49Speaker 6: Jayden Daniels, Like there's no arguments there.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: And I mean that's would you say that's an advantage
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: for guys like Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels where Drake
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: May is that a disadvantage because he doesn't get that
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: status and those.
- 1:22:04Speaker 6: Reps depends on your take. On developing quarterbacks, which we've
- 1:22:09Speaker 6: talked about in the past, of you know, do you
- 1:22:11Speaker 6: want to take the packer away and be more methodical
- 1:22:15Speaker 6: or to out.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: There Even if you think Jacoby Brissett's going to start
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: at week one, he's a veteran quarterback, he's been in.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: The league a long time.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: Maybe you give some practices to Drake May knowing that
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: Jacoby doesn't need it as much as Drake.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: We could see that next week.
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I hope.
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: So, I hope even the week after because I know
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: that you know, the public portion of practice is going
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: to end. But my guess is will we'll still be
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: out there practice between preseason two and three, those two games,
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: and we might see some of that. I mean, I
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: think it depends. I think the pressure that comes with Okay,
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: Caleb Williams, you're starting opening We drafted you. And by
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: the way, I would say, there was no real no
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: one was saying it could be May, Wills and Daniels
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: or Daniels. It was Williams one, Williams was one, two
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: and three. There was a there was a debate about
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: Daniels and in May, I would say that you know
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: what's different May is the youngest of those three six
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: years and with Daniels specifically, I mean six years of college,
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: so there's a lot more experience for Jade and Daniels,
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: he kind of should be at a level in terms
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: of reading defenses and whatnot. Further along now, Williams is
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: closer in age. I mean, you started at Oklahoma, played
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: two years at USC, so even he has more experience
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: in college than May did. So I think that's one
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: reason why that you might see them a little further along.
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: But I think Evan's point is probably the most accurate.
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: They're they're the guy, and they're they're getting all the
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: first team reps and they're going.
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: And I think the other point, like I mean, getting
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: to the heart of that question is just that what
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: you said earlier, Evan was I think what d Drake
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: needs to continue to prove on most it's just playing
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: within structure, playing within the system, understanding how NFL foot
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: and you know, not just being able to, you know,
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: whenever he needs to go off script, which is easy
- 1:24:04Speaker 5: and based on its.
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: Experience, and I think there's nothing that's going to replace that.
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: He needs experience.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: Hey, you got to do it. Uh, Anthony and Hampton Virginia.
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: I hear a lot of people complain about preseason games
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: and how pointless they are. While they are maybe not
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: essential for veteran starters, I think everyone else involved benefits.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: Preseason games acts like a dress rehearsal for everyone, from
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: stadium security, refs, broadcast teams, reporters, concessions, et cetera. This
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: helps Week one be a better product. It seems to
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: also be one of the best the last ways to
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: buy NFL tickets cheap in advance. I know they will
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: most likely go down to two preseason games with an
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: eighteen game schedule, and hope they don't try to get
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: rid of them completely.
- 1:24:47Speaker 6: Yeah, Paul, I have to get my reps to get
- 1:24:49Speaker 6: ready for weeks, But how could you write otherwise? Observation
- 1:24:54Speaker 6: is going to be a I.
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: Mean, I'm not going to take him literally. I mean,
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: first of all, the broadcast teams are not the same
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: preseason as they are in the regular season. But semantics,
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: there's a handful of guys that might around and I'm
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: talking around the league, not on each team, that might
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: flash with two or three good preseason games and earned
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: a rash spot. I think that for the most part,
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: coaches know who's going to make a team. I think
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: if you asked Jarrodmeyo right now, he'd probably have fifty
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: out of fifty three guys in his mind locked. Yeah,
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: and you know a couple might sway him a little bit.
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: You know, injuries are going to happen, things are going
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: to happen.
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: But I kind of feel like Gunner Osseewski was one
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: of those guys kind of made the team right at
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: the end there playing some cornerback and stuff.
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: You know, I don't know.
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: I mean, I'm trying to think of other guys that
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: you don't really see anything from really in practice, and
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: then he's found a way to make the team with
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: a couple good The one the one spot I always
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: feel like is running back because you can't, well, other
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: than yesterday, you're not normally tackling to the ground. You
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: can't really judge like yards after contact because guys aren't
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: really going all out to try to get them on
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: the ground. So I feel like at running back, Plus,
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: it's not like Rimondre Stevenson is gonna get a high
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: volume of carries in the preseason, So a guy like
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: Drel Jennings, we've all seen a little something something out
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: of he might have a game where he's got twenty
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: twenty five carries and you might actually get to see
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: what he's made of a little bit. Sometimes I feel like, though,
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: you see those guys and they look great and you're
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: excited about them, and then they just get cut like anyweah,
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: you know, like even then sometimes it's like you look.
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: At the guy who leads the preseason web in rushing,
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: and then those guys never make.
- 1:26:32Speaker 6: The yeah, yeah, the other thing I kill.
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: What's the guy Thomas the huge arms from San Francisco, CTE.
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: It'll come to me, Big Arms, Carol, Thomas Carroll. No,
- 1:26:44Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:26:45Speaker 6: We don't even get the luxury either of watching the
- 1:26:47Speaker 6: film back of practice so offensive and defensive line play.
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: It's nice to actually see it and be able to
- 1:26:54Speaker 6: watch it back and see exactly what does Caden Wallace
- 1:26:57Speaker 6: actually look like? What does later because just why it live?
- 1:27:00Speaker 6: You're like, oh, that seemed like a pretty good block
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: from Caden Wallace, but you don't actually get to see it.
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: Matt Wright saying I had a quick question about what
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: Evan is saying about may If may believes that if yeah, oh,
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: if Mayo believes that defense is going to go too
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: high against him. Isn't that all the more reason to
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: put him in quicker? The Patriots are often really really struggling,
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: struggling against one of against those one high looks. Since
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: it allows defenses to disguise and blitz, if may can
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: contribute to creating more too high defenses, that would be
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: a huge improvement to the O.
- 1:27:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, you would hope. So I think that
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: that's probably three or four steps from now when we
- 1:27:43Speaker 6: start talking about how teams are going to defend him
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: and things like that. But the point I'm more making
- 1:27:47Speaker 6: about that is that it's forcing him to make the
- 1:27:50Speaker 6: throws that he doesn't necessarily make. It a high level good.
- 1:27:53Speaker 6: You know, we know that he can throw the deep ball,
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: we know he can throw the seams. We know he
- 1:27:57Speaker 6: can make those types of throws when you play at
- 1:27:59Speaker 6: middle of field open and you're not going to throw
- 1:28:01Speaker 6: routes into those areas in the field as frequently. So
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: now he's got to work the underneath the zone. He's
- 1:28:06Speaker 6: got to work the honey hole, he's got to work
- 1:28:08Speaker 6: you know, the short stuff underneath over the middle. Those
- 1:28:11Speaker 6: are the things that at UNC he had some issues
- 1:28:14Speaker 6: throwing those balls every once in a while. So now
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: you force him to work on those weaknesses in practice.
- 1:28:19Speaker 6: If they just went out there and let him just
- 1:28:21Speaker 6: survive off instinct and run around and make plays, he'd
- 1:28:24Speaker 6: look flashier, he'd look probably better to a lot of people.
- 1:28:28Speaker 6: But would he actually be learning anything, Like would it
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: actually be gaining any sort of you know, positive reps
- 1:28:34Speaker 6: out of those I don't think so, because we already
- 1:28:36Speaker 6: know he can do those types of things.
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: Because you need your foundation. You need your foundation, and
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: it can't be running around. That's not a good foundation.
- 1:28:44Speaker 6: It's that can be your superpower, but that can't be
- 1:28:46Speaker 6: your foundation.
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: Let's see, Aaron wrights In has draw named the preseason starter,
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: yet also is the fullback position going to be a
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: bigger part of the offense this year?
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: No to the second one and yes to the first one.
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: Well, my guess is that it's going to be Brissett, he.
- 1:29:04Speaker 6: Said in the press conference this morning.
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: But I think too, there's there's probably quite a number
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: of players that aren't going to play that you know,
- 1:29:11Speaker 5: might be a little bit off of people like that,
- 1:29:13Speaker 5: like o Ja is clearly dealing.
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: With something like isn't practiced.
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: There's gonna be guys like that who you know, aren't
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: really being trumpeted as being injured. Like Kayden Wallace got
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: kind of banged up, he might not go. You know,
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: there's there's gonna be a significant number of guys that
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: that don't play because.
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: That's something might have happened to him today. But like
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: in terms like Thornton has been limited in recent day.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: You know, Chookes has been out, you know, the last
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: couple of days. Like I wouldn't expect to see these guys.
- 1:29:42Speaker 6: I wouldn't expect to see Andrews and.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: Dredd said that anybody who's healthy will play.
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: I mean, and so there's a list of growing Marcus
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: Jones is probably not going to be out there Thursday, right,
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: you know.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: I mean, if you have a hangnail and you're a veteran,
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: you're not playing correctly.
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: I mean, it's just realistic. It might go into that
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: game of four tackles.
- 1:29:59Speaker 5: I mean, I know it's not that crazy, but for
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: a preseason game, I mean, it's you know that those
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: all those guys are gonna have to play a lot,
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: and know what you're talking about.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: Starters Tyler and South Carolina Wrights in what is more
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: valuable to the offense we are running wide receiver or
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: running back. You all said this offseason that this offense
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: is built around the run. So what a star running
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: back with one or two solid backups be better than
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: a group of decent wide receivers? Or would you rather
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: have a better wide receiver group. I know we obviously
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: want both, but if you were to start from the
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: ground up, would you start with running back or wide receiver?
- 1:30:37Speaker 4: Room receiver wide receiver?
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: The only reason to run the ball is so that
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: you can pass the ball.
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: You plus, I think Mermander Stevenson is good enough to
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: be a running back that if you want to run.
- 1:30:48Speaker 4: I mean, he's not Nick Chubb, but if you want
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: to run the ball and.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: List they have said we want to be a running team,
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: that's fine, But I think they also realize in order
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: to win, you've got to be a good passing team.
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: You know, they're not going to win a Super Bowl
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: just being a good running team.
- 1:31:06Speaker 6: I would also say that that's don't get too caught
- 1:31:10Speaker 6: up in them saying they want to be a run
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: first team because they want to run to pass, so
- 1:31:14Speaker 6: they're running to marry it. Up with the play action
- 1:31:17Speaker 6: passing game so that they can throw the ball down
- 1:31:19Speaker 6: the field off play action. And this I keep saying it,
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: but this offense is not designed to dink and dunk
- 1:31:25Speaker 6: off play action. This is an offense that's designed to
- 1:31:27Speaker 6: push the ball down the field off play action. So
- 1:31:30Speaker 6: they're going to take shots like they're going to be
- 1:31:32Speaker 6: aggressive and they're going to take shots.
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: Let's see Dorian right Sin from Maryland. He says, I
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: disagree with some of the opinions on the importance of preseason.
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: I would actually like to keep these games around because
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: even though it doesn't give you an idea of how
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: good your football team is, it allows these guys fighting
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: for their professional careers a lot of film to continue
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: their dreams of being professional football players.
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: It's also a.
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: Cheaper game for fans to attend and sit relatively close
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: that can't afford regular season games. I think they should
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: stay around at least two games. Some people get injured
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: during the season because they haven't allowed their bodies to
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: adjust to hitting by not playing in preseason and having
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: limited live practices and pads. Also trade jude On and
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: Juju keep.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: Born for Ayuk keep Born for Ayuk. I don't know
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: what that means.
- 1:32:24Speaker 6: Well, we should mention that report for Mantrew Callahan, that
- 1:32:28Speaker 6: Andrews is saying or reporting that Kendrick Borne is going
- 1:32:32Speaker 6: to be in the trade package for Brandon Ayuk If
- 1:32:34Speaker 6: that is in fact?
- 1:32:37Speaker 5: Is that weird that you come back from that one like, hey,
- 1:32:39Speaker 5: we're gonna, you know, if we trade it, if you can,
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: if you chooses here, you're going, hey, he didn't choose here.
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: You're staying we're psyched to have you back.
- 1:32:44Speaker 7: I mean, is that.
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: I don't know. I agree, No, it is.
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: It's tough, but it's it's football is also a business,
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: and it's tough time, maybe more in other sports than football,
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: since it's not a lot of player for players, you
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: can also couch it and say you're the only guy
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: that San Francisco wanted, so you you kind of pump
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: them up in that discussion too.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: You know, you got to be transparent. It's better than
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: you know, trying to do it under the.
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:14Speaker 6: Would Yeah, I have to ask Jalen Brown, he knows
- 1:33:19Speaker 6: all about it.
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: Uh eight five five pass five hundred is ACE ticket
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: outline Daniels and Sacramento.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: It's upt Daniel, Hey.
- 1:33:28Speaker 9: How you doing.
- 1:33:29Speaker 18: Okay, huge fan of the show and guys, just just
- 1:33:31Speaker 18: started watching this off season. Actually just found it randomly
- 1:33:35Speaker 18: on my YouTube and just been loving the show. So
- 1:33:38Speaker 18: my question is is, uh, it's a really random player
- 1:33:41Speaker 18: on the team. I know we drafted Jaheem Bell. I
- 1:33:46Speaker 18: was just I've been, you know, watching, and I haven't
- 1:33:48Speaker 18: really heard much about jahem Bell during camp. So I
- 1:33:52Speaker 18: just wanted to, you know, get get your guys to senior,
- 1:33:54Speaker 18: not back, and take it off there.
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: You picked the right day to call in because it
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: was the first day you spent been visible. I did
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: nothing for four or five days. Then he got hurt,
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: missed four or five days, and today he made a
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: catch in the end zone for a touchdown. I think
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: we think he got it. I think he was inbound
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: pretty in seven seven and that's kind of it. Which
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: but he has not done point anything but Austin.
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: Hooper's round pick.
- 1:34:17Speaker 5: Yeah, never, Henry have been pretty good. But yeah, I
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: mean you're kind of hoping. I mean, I know we
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: you know, not to blow up a seventh round pick,
- 1:34:23Speaker 5: but I think he has some traits and you know,
- 1:34:25Speaker 5: anytime in offense is just desperate for guys who can
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: move the needle offensively.
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: You're you're hoping this late round pick that you know
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: that I've seen a little bit from is Dial myself
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: to Dial. Now, I'm not necessarily saying he's going to
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: be part of the secondary, you know, a regular contributor.
- 1:34:42Speaker 4: But he's really competitive in coverage. He's got some size
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: to him, some physicality. I don't know right spot today,
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: would seem to have traits that would allow him to
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: play special teams.
- 1:34:53Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:34:53Speaker 4: He just looks competitive to me right now. That whole
- 1:34:55Speaker 4: cornerback group looks like a big thing of mush. I mean,
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: I just don't know.
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: Between Alex Austin and Marco will Sinning, Isaiah Bolden and him,
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: I mean, it's just, you know, there's.
- 1:35:02Speaker 4: I'm gonna put my hand in the air and saying
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: I've been very disappointed in Alex Austin in this camp.
- 1:35:07Speaker 6: That's fair. Yeah, he's been probably one of the more
- 1:35:10Speaker 6: disappointing players because he was good in the spring, and
- 1:35:13Speaker 6: the pads came on in camp and well didn't.
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: He start out okay in training camp Alex Austen and
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: then now he's kind of tapered off.
- 1:35:22Speaker 6: He had a really good spring, yeah, and it hasn't
- 1:35:26Speaker 6: been as good in camp, and he's been not getting
- 1:35:30Speaker 6: beat deep a lot too, you know, like over the top, which.
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: Is gives up a lot of catches.
- 1:35:35Speaker 6: Yeah. I never want to see that.
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: Yeah, Audrey new Hampshire writes in earlier today, I was
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: listening to Zoe and Beatle live from training camp at
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: one Yeah, at one point they were very excited and
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: pumped up about some of Drake Maye's throws, particularly to Booty.
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: They felt that he's being held back.
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: By the coaches, and they mentioned the crowd was chanting
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: start may was today that good.
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: I didn't hear the crowd, but I.
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: Did not hear rest. I did not hear the crowd.
- 1:36:03Speaker 4: That was a good throw to Booty.
- 1:36:04Speaker 6: Yea, yeah, he made. He made back to back throws
- 1:36:08Speaker 6: and seven on seven to Booty and the Jean Bell
- 1:36:10Speaker 6: that were really pretty throws that I did look over
- 1:36:13Speaker 6: at them because they were hooting and hollering over at
- 1:36:16Speaker 6: the ninety eight five station, and they were pretty pumped
- 1:36:18Speaker 6: up about the throws. But I thought, up until the
- 1:36:22Speaker 6: two minute drills or one minute whatever you want to
- 1:36:24Speaker 6: call it, hurry up sequence at the end made did
- 1:36:26Speaker 6: have a nice day today, and then the wheels kind
- 1:36:29Speaker 6: of came off in the hurry up.
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: But I would agree I thought there was some good
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: There was some good stuff before that.
- 1:36:36Speaker 6: I also am at the time of camp and at
- 1:36:39Speaker 6: the time of year where I have no more time
- 1:36:41Speaker 6: for seven on seven. Like, I know, the guy can
- 1:36:43Speaker 6: throw the ball when there's no pass rush. He's six
- 1:36:46Speaker 6: foot four, two twenty with a great arm. Like you
- 1:36:48Speaker 6: can obviously throw the ball in seven on seven's, but
- 1:36:51Speaker 6: we don't, you know, they don't play seven on seven.
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: So not yet at least.
- 1:36:54Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: Uh another call eight five five pats five hundred were
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: big in Sackmento. This is Leon in Sacramento's Leon, Leon, Leon,
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: Hello Sacramento.
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: You're on No No, Leon, Okay, we also have Melon
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: sack Town right drop Leon.
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: You can call back if you want.
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: We have an unfortunate Brandon Nyuk update. Oh no, he
- 1:37:23Speaker 6: hasn't been traded. Don't don't worry. But apparently the Steelers
- 1:37:29Speaker 6: re engaged today with the forty nine ers, just as planned.
- 1:37:34Speaker 6: With Brandon Ayuk. Their talks had previously stalled. According to Schefter,
- 1:37:38Speaker 6: we already talked about this and now they've re engaged
- 1:37:41Speaker 6: with the Steelers.
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: Yeah, this is more of official.
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: I thought that someone someone had reported that it's three teams, right, yeah,
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: including the Steelings.
- 1:37:50Speaker 6: But I don't like the fact that they're now re engaged.
- 1:37:53Speaker 5: Well to the point at the top of the show
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: is that this information being put out to be like,
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: if anyone else wants to re engage, now's your last chance.
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: On the Steelers just engaged for the first time.
- 1:38:01Speaker 6: It seems like Brandon Nyuk in his list, if he
- 1:38:06Speaker 6: has a list, the Steelers are closer to the top
- 1:38:09Speaker 6: than the Patriots are. And then my guess is that
- 1:38:12Speaker 6: Brandon Nyuk's camp said, Hey, Pittsburgh, why don't you get
- 1:38:15Speaker 6: back involved in this now? And now they're back involved.
- 1:38:19Speaker 6: Trade off, trade.
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: Off, Elliott, you got it. You gotta step up here,
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: Come on, come on, a little more money.
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: Boston's better than Pittsburgh, Boston's better than Cleveland.
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: Let's go, let's go.
- 1:38:35Speaker 4: What is Foxboro fit in? Matt higher archy matter.
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: You're not gonna live in Foxborough?
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: Non play in Patriots. You think live in Boston a lot? Really?
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: Oh yeah, the veterans do Boston. Yeah, I think the
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: seaport don't they all live down in the seaport.
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: Now, no, maybe the smart players, young guys get a
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: local place. So you're not gonna be said, once she
- 1:38:58Speaker 5: got established a little.
- 1:38:59Speaker 4: Bit, they live in town. I mean, you don't have
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: to say who and where.
- 1:39:02Speaker 6: I think some of the veteran guys, as Fred said,
- 1:39:04Speaker 6: more of those guys do, like a lot of the
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: younger players.
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: The veterans live in like the suburbs around him I'm
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: talking about. I didn't want to say the specific towns.
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: Why not, because that's not fair.
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm talking more about like the young the veterans,
- 1:39:23Speaker 6: but not necessarily the family man, like we're not talking
- 1:39:25Speaker 6: about David Andrews has multiple kids and a wife and
- 1:39:28Speaker 6: all that kind of stuff. Where you know, talking about
- 1:39:30Speaker 6: sprawling man.
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: Quincy used to be a place.
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: That's where Brady lived for a little while.
- 1:39:35Speaker 6: Quincy.
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: He lived in.
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: Marina Harbor, which is Quinsy.
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: It's not that big like kind of hotel resort thing
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: like out near the water.
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's by the water, this restaurant shops.
- 1:39:50Speaker 4: Yeah, but I thought a lot of him and lawyer
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: lived there.
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: But I know Brady Brady ended up moving to Back
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: Bay and then Chestnut Hill, Well, Beacon Hill.
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: Well, no, he you lived in the back bay. It
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: was on Beacon Hill.
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: I thought it was on he was on comm Ab
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: at one time, because that's where he was when he
- 1:40:07Speaker 4: got in the accident.
- 1:40:09Speaker 6: Yeah, right off Stero.
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: He probably had multiple places. What do you have for dinner? Yeah?
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: And then he then he moved to Chestnut Hill.
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: But I thought the seaport like more and more as
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: might be right, and you know, more and more athletes
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: like the Bruins.
- 1:40:23Speaker 6: Well, certainly the Bruins and the Celtics live and they
- 1:40:25Speaker 6: live there.
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: That's where they play.
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: But they practiced in wallfam.
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's who cares. And actually they practiced in town.
- 1:40:33Speaker 6: You know, they practice in Brighton.
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: Now the Celtics they moved out of uh.
- 1:40:40Speaker 6: Yeah. Now they have the ur back centers right next
- 1:40:43Speaker 6: to Warrior, which are both in Brighton, right off the
- 1:40:46Speaker 6: mass Pike.
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: Okay, they were all at the new Balance Center.
- 1:40:49Speaker 6: Right next to r right there. Oh Mike, okay, Mike's
- 1:40:53Speaker 6: a Reebok guy.
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: Right, Hello everyone, Hello.
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: Marine Claire's writing in uh okay, some very much with
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: Paul scrap preseason and Deuce has me questioning if the
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: Patriots should even trade for Ayuk.
- 1:41:07Speaker 6: What did I do, Mike, You need to need to
- 1:41:09Speaker 6: be more positive.
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: No, I would like I would like it. I mean,
- 1:41:12Speaker 5: I'm pulling the same pages you guys. I don't want
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: to give up one, but I.
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: Would like it if we don't have to give them any.
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: Well, I don't want to help the one.
- 1:41:18Speaker 7: I didn't.
- 1:41:18Speaker 4: I didn't want to give him anything. I would give
- 1:41:20Speaker 4: him a two and a three and a player sure
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: whether it's born or Judean born in about two and
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: a three.
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: And then they're like, hey, guys, we got no Day
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: two picks.
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: This year, we got no show.
- 1:41:30Speaker 6: That's true.
- 1:41:31Speaker 4: I didn't even think of that.
- 1:41:33Speaker 6: It just it means nothing in terms of wins and losses.
- 1:41:37Speaker 6: But if this trade goes down in the next couple
- 1:41:39Speaker 6: of days and then the next next week, you get
- 1:41:41Speaker 6: out practice and you joint practice against the Eagles. And
- 1:41:44Speaker 6: now Brandon Nyuk is a Patriot.
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: Talking to a j Brown like wearing shorts. It makes
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: the ramp up period. My guess is a thing. It's
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: in San Francisco yet, right, and he pulls his hamstring
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: like the second day?
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: Why why this is what she's talking to?
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: That's why Claire doesn't like you, but we haven't had
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: that in a while. She's not going to have you
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: in the podcast anymore, and I'm a little disassoing.
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: So if you're the Patriots and.
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: You really want AYUK, where would you be more willing
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: to go up money or what you're giving?
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: Uh, the forty nine ers?
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: I mean, it depends on what I need the forty
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: nine ers, okay with the trade because they according to
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: the reports, the framework of a trade has been No.
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: I know, but now they're getting other offers from other teams,
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: so maybe now so.
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: I'll go up whatever I need to go up. That's
- 1:42:35Speaker 4: what like does does you want more money?
- 1:42:38Speaker 18: No?
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: But that's in order to Yeah, that's all I mean,
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: that's all I know. Who's unhappy?
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: Okay, But let's just say the forty nine ers are
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: getting better deals from other teams, right.
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: Would you be willing to put I wouldn't be willing
- 1:42:50Speaker 4: to go up to the first round pick because I'm
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: not like you guys. I don't think that makes us
- 1:42:55Speaker 4: a playoff contender. I didn't say you're still a top
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: ten you said a playoff team.
- 1:43:00Speaker 6: That's not a contender. Two different things.
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: A playoff contender.
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: Is there any player other than a quarterback that would
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: make this team a playoff team?
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: No, unless you're gonna like, you have the c J.
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: Stroud thing plays and he's like, that makes you a
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: playoff contend, Well, that's a lot.
- 1:43:22Speaker 6: There's a much higher chance of that happening if you're
- 1:43:25Speaker 6: throwing to Brandon Ayuk instead of kJ Osborne in Week one.
- 1:43:28Speaker 6: That's my point is like, it makes everybody's jobs here.
- 1:43:31Speaker 6: That's true. I shouldn't have said that it makes it.
- 1:43:34Speaker 6: It makes everybody's job easier, including the quarterbacks.
- 1:43:37Speaker 4: Agreed. I just think that there's there's a lot of
- 1:43:41Speaker 4: really good players in the league that don't make that
- 1:43:43Speaker 4: kind of a difference. I know, but I don't think
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: Brandon is justin John.
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: But I think I think eventually you're gonna have to
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: use that first round pick, either on draft day or
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: in a trade. And if in a trade you get
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: a first round player, what's the diff.
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: So now you want to give the first round.
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: Pick like, I wouldn't rule it out, Okay.
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: I mean I would because I think it's going to
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: be a top five pick.
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: The only reason that the only reason I'm hesitant about
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: giving up the first round pick is because it goes
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: with a boatload of money.
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: If you guys are right, and it makes you like
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: a playoff contender, I can win nine games, ten games.
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: I'd give up the first round pick if if I
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: know I was gonna win eight or nine games, because
- 1:44:24Speaker 4: I don't mind giving up a pick in the like
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: the mid teams.
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: Let's say the Patriots have a bad year this year.
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: You know they're five wins, six wins, whatever, They're gonna
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: have that first round pick next year.
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: Is that player other than a quarterback going to make
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: you a playoff team. No, that's what I'm saying, is
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: a first round talent.
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: So that's not going to make you a playoff team either.
- 1:44:47Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: It's mean according to you because the first round pick
- 1:44:52Speaker 4: is not going.
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: To do it right, But I'm throwing it back at you.
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: Either one is the same.
- 1:44:56Speaker 2: So I'm saying, if we can, if we have a
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: chance to add first round talent on this team, let's
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: do it what we we we go show in and
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: show out saying that we don't have any stars in
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: this team, we don't.
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: Have any top end talent. To get top end proven
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: top DOWND talent, not somebody you hope becomes top end talent.
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: You know you will convince yourself that's fine. Said, this
- 1:45:19Speaker 4: guy is Tom. I'm for acquiring Brandon Nayuk.
- 1:45:22Speaker 7: I am.
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: I would if I were the Patriots. I don't subscribe
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: to this. They're not ready for him yet. I don't
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: think that that's relevant at all. Get good players in
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: your team. I just think you have to think about.
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: You think you can get somebody better in the draft.
- 1:45:37Speaker 4: I think I can get a better player than Brandon
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: and Ayuk in the top five. Yes, I should. I
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: shouldn't aspire to that.
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: Who also, when he's unhappy with his contract in two years,
- 1:45:45Speaker 5: isn't going to pull this crap again?
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: Correct? Yeah, I should aspire to a better player than that.
- 1:45:49Speaker 6: That is putting a lot of stock in Luther Burden
- 1:45:52Speaker 6: that I am not willing to put it.
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: I'm not necessarily saying it has to be a wide receiver.
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: I'm just saying this, should you should be able to
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: get a better player than that.
- 1:45:59Speaker 6: I hear you, if you have it, yeah, I mean may.
- 1:46:02Speaker 6: I'm not touching twenty twenty five's first round pick now.
- 1:46:06Speaker 4: Fred just giving them away will he nill right, I'm
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: not touching. You'll get a first round pick.
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: You'll get it.
- 1:46:10Speaker 6: But if they want something else, I'd probably want to
- 1:46:14Speaker 6: take it from twenty six, Like, well, okay, maybe we'll
- 1:46:16Speaker 6: give you another Day two pick in twenty six.
- 1:46:18Speaker 7: I do that.
- 1:46:19Speaker 6: I'm not giving you a first round pick in twenty
- 1:46:21Speaker 6: five or twenty six.
- 1:46:22Speaker 4: I'd give you twenty six because I would have faith
- 1:46:24Speaker 4: in my program that I will not be picking in
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: the top ten two years from now.
- 1:46:29Speaker 6: Because that's three years in a row, and then we're
- 1:46:30Speaker 6: in trouble.
- 1:46:31Speaker 4: Yeah, correct, then probably someone else.
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean I think one. I think here
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: we're underestimating the crapshoot that is the draft. And you
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: know how hard it is, like even if you have
- 1:46:44Speaker 2: a top five pick to really always get the value
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: of that top five pick.
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: Of course, I agree with you, especially when you're not
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: in the quarterback mark, of.
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: Course, but you should you should want I mean, you
- 1:46:55Speaker 4: shouldn't go in, say, but here's a guy I don't
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: think I wolve should be saying it's a crap I.
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: Mean, how how how far away is Ayuk from being
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: worthy of a top five pick in the NFL draft.
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: I mean, I personally think a good distance.
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: I think, really, I don't think he's that.
- 1:47:12Speaker 4: I think I think he's a good player. I don't
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: think he's a great player.
- 1:47:15Speaker 6: I just don't think it works now, Like teams don't
- 1:47:17Speaker 6: look at it that way to me in this league
- 1:47:19Speaker 6: because of the it's not just the pick that's it.
- 1:47:21Speaker 6: It's also the money investment that's attached to it too
- 1:47:24Speaker 6: fair enough, and I think the combination of those two
- 1:47:26Speaker 6: things that's why there's no precedence.
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: At the beginning. That's what makes it tough for me.
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, like if I
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: love the guy and there's other deals that I need
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: to top, and that's.
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: Going to make it happen.
- 1:47:40Speaker 4: Like it gets back to our argument from I might
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: do that, I might do it. I remember we all
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: talked a couple of weeks ago. Would you rather have
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: Marvin Harrison, Roma Dunze or Elite Neighbors lighting up Giants
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: or Brandon Ayuk? Right now today, who would you rather
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: have any of those three or Brandon Ayuk?
- 1:47:59Speaker 3: I'd rather have Marvin Harrison, So only one of those three,
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: only one.
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: I'd rather have any of those three because I think
- 1:48:04Speaker 4: they have better players than him, But you don't know that.
- 1:48:07Speaker 4: I don't, but I have to. I have to do
- 1:48:09Speaker 4: something to.
- 1:48:10Speaker 6: Evaluate the player I know, but you know is a
- 1:48:12Speaker 6: good player.
- 1:48:13Speaker 9: I do.
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: I think the other three can be better than good
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: could be. That's a big word. And they're rookies. They're
- 1:48:19Speaker 4: not twenty five already.
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: How much better will they be than Ayuk.
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: I think that they can all significantly be better. I
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: think Neighbors could blow them out of the water. I
- 1:48:28Speaker 4: think Neighbors has the ability to be way better than
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: even Marvin Harrison.
- 1:48:32Speaker 6: Neighbors is silly.
- 1:48:33Speaker 4: I love them. Paul's arguing from my side of the
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: street because I'm like, you go, Paul.
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: Well, he's arguing something that right now can be proved.
- 1:48:40Speaker 4: But but but I'm willing to take that rid one
- 1:48:42Speaker 4: thousand percent one thousand percent. And that's what makes it fun,
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: I know, because we can all have a different opinion
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: and no one's right.
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: I just see something that we haven't had in a while.
- 1:48:51Speaker 4: I don't think you're wrong, you know, for one together,
- 1:48:54Speaker 4: I know who he is.
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: Like, it's you know, I think I want them.
- 1:48:59Speaker 4: I want to nothing.
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: It's a sure thing.
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: But this is as close to a sure thing as
- 1:49:03Speaker 2: you can get in getting a wide receiver one like
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: I'm going crazy.
- 1:49:09Speaker 6: Chefter is treating a lot of Steelers propaganda right now,
- 1:49:12Speaker 6: Brandon Ayuk to the Steelers, which like usually when he
- 1:49:16Speaker 6: starts dropping.
- 1:49:17Speaker 4: In the ground, I'm hearing, I'm hearing.
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: Who's saying this, Tomas Yeah? So he he uh.
- 1:49:25Speaker 6: He followed up his tweets saying the Steelers are back
- 1:49:27Speaker 6: in with noting that last year when Pittsburgh played San Francisco,
- 1:49:31Speaker 6: Brandon Nyuk had a huge game against the Steelers and
- 1:49:35Speaker 6: so now you know from the Steelers side of things,
- 1:49:37Speaker 6: they're like, we really throw George.
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: Pickens in And what hurts is that a Yuk wants
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: to go there?
- 1:49:42Speaker 6: Sounds like it.
- 1:49:43Speaker 4: So, Russell Wilson, what can we do?
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: More and more?
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: Like justin field? See what happened, Russell Wilson, I'd rather so.
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know.
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: I hurt pushing a sled.
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: I don't know if any of Brandon Ayuk's people are
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: watching or have feelers out there, But if any of
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: your people are watching this show, Brandon, you could be
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: sitting in one of these seats as a guest.
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: You could be if you don't like it, we actually
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: have a desk, so we could have a regular show
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: if you like it better than Yeah.
- 1:50:16Speaker 17: They're saying that Christian McCaffrey strange his calf at practice today,
- 1:50:21Speaker 17: But he does that every missing the whole.
- 1:50:23Speaker 4: Preseason, missing the whole preseason, It says preseason. I don't know,
- 1:50:28Speaker 4: whole Yeah, miss exaggerating a little. Yeah, I mean, I
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: don't think you'll play in any of the preseason games.
- 1:50:33Speaker 4: It's amazing how he doesn't play in preseason games and
- 1:50:35Speaker 4: yet still is the best running back. They have to
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: tell him whre to line up for the national an.
- 1:50:41Speaker 6: You could be on this show.
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: A good subtle does not have this show, Cleveland does.
- 1:50:45Speaker 4: This is a good shot at Fred. That just went
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: right over everybody.
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: I'm busy talking to you, got more important business and
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: listening to your nonsense.
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: I'm just I'm just expect the front of some songs sometime,
- 1:51:00Speaker 5: probably your kind of music event sometimes where there's like
- 1:51:02Speaker 5: a fake phone call takes place like that.
- 1:51:03Speaker 6: Oh yeah, it needs it, like the top, like blame
- 1:51:06Speaker 6: by Kanye.
- 1:51:08Speaker 4: There's more different things than we do that will never
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: stop making me laugh. And one of them is always
- 1:51:15Speaker 4: when Fred addresses it breaks the fourth wall and has
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: an address for Brandon's my camera. If you want to
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: be in one of these comfortable seats, you can do around.
- 1:51:26Speaker 4: Just look around in the atmosphere the wall.
- 1:51:28Speaker 6: Would you imagine though, if he came here and he
- 1:51:30Speaker 6: was like, I listen to your guys show, I really
- 1:51:33Speaker 6: saw me.
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: It was that Fred was so passionate that one guy
- 1:51:36Speaker 4: that wasn't sure that I was that good, I would
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: to prove him wrong. Right, I am a top.
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: I am a top. You go, Chase bro. Don't underestimate
- 1:51:48Speaker 3: the reach of patriots unfiltered. You never know. You never know.
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: We always say that no matter what the topic, we
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: have somebody out there listening who's an expert. Well, I'm
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: sure that there's somebody that's watching, listen thing that has
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: some connection to Brandon Ayuk's camp.
- 1:52:03Speaker 4: It's a brand San Francisco.
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: As soon as this shows over in Atlanta, almost Brandon
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: from San Francisco.
- 1:52:10Speaker 4: You there brand?
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: Okay, little departure here. Todd and Garner, North Carolina, please
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: rank the Blow media with respect to the the optimism
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: shown by their coverage. So it's us p U ninety
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: eight point five Uh, what's the question. Patriots Press Pass
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: and clinics.
- 1:52:31Speaker 6: Patriots Press Pass and clinics are the same thing, are
- 1:52:33Speaker 6: they that?
- 1:52:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know what that's. I
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: don't know what Patriots Press pass is. I'm sorry, I
- 1:52:39Speaker 4: don't mean that to be disrespectfully. I mean, fifty six
- 1:52:42Speaker 4: years old, I don't know what that.
- 1:52:44Speaker 6: Yeah, Patriot Press passes this Patriots YouTube channel.
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: Okay, so the same. I don't know the same. Because
- 1:52:52Speaker 3: now this brand okay.
- 1:52:53Speaker 4: So that's Fusion. So that's that's who.
- 1:52:55Speaker 6: Now that's like Taylor, Taylor, Mike and Mike Turned, Mike,
- 1:52:59Speaker 6: Brian Hines.
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: Brian I like. I mean, I like Brian a lot.
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: I like Mike Kadlick. I don't really know Taylor very much,
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: so I can't say I've never really met him. But yeah,
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: I don't. I don't speak. I didn't want to meet you.
- 1:53:12Speaker 4: Come off disrespectfully. I don't know. With the Patriots presspects,
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: you can't keep checking everything. You're good because you know
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: I have that everybody who Fred likes to say that
- 1:53:21Speaker 4: I have my media list. They're not honest. No, they're
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: the young guys. But I don't know.
- 1:53:26Speaker 3: I mean, who's the most optimistic of that.
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: Of that guy, those guys all of sports of it.
- 1:53:34Speaker 4: I like EI and the sports, but probably not. We're
- 1:53:37Speaker 4: probably after them and they're behind us.
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: When you but when you talk about ninety eight point five, yeah,
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: be ahead of it. You have to only take you
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: have to Well, it's tough because morning show and afternoon show.
- 1:53:49Speaker 2: But then you get Zolac, who you know, he's usually optimistic, right.
- 1:53:53Speaker 4: Yeah, that show has not been over the Beatles down
- 1:53:56Speaker 4: off Beatles on the situation with may he thought may
- 1:53:59Speaker 4: should have more of an opportunity to start well than
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: he's been given.
- 1:54:03Speaker 3: That's fine, it's a fair point. Yeah, that's fine.
- 1:54:06Speaker 6: It's the third overall.
- 1:54:07Speaker 3: But that does But is he down on may or
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: is he down on Mayo's.
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: Down on Mayo?
- 1:54:11Speaker 7: Mayo?
- 1:54:12Speaker 5: Do you think that if may give him first team
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: reps like next week, does that need to does he
- 1:54:16Speaker 5: need to preempt that? Because I feel like if all
- 1:54:18Speaker 5: of a sudden, major starts getting first reps, especially.
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: After a preseason game or maybe you know Jacoby.
- 1:54:22Speaker 5: Like I just the implication of people are gonna take
- 1:54:25Speaker 5: it and run with it, like, oh, they're not feeling
- 1:54:26Speaker 5: great about Jacoby that you know, does he have to No.
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: I think it would be an indication that they feel
- 1:54:31Speaker 4: like may has earned more opportunities. And I think that
- 1:54:35Speaker 4: the criticism that could come from that to Mayo is
- 1:54:38Speaker 4: he should have gotten this earlier, and if you did,
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: you might have had a true competition on your hands
- 1:54:42Speaker 4: instead of like, I don't know how you guys feel.
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: I know Fred you feel differently. I still don't think
- 1:54:48Speaker 4: there's any chance whatsoever that Drake may starts week one.
- 1:54:51Speaker 3: Well right now if the season started, there's no chance.
- 1:54:54Speaker 4: No, I know, but I don't think there's anything that
- 1:54:55Speaker 4: can happen in between now and okay we change what
- 1:54:59Speaker 4: brring and in to read a Brissette.
- 1:55:00Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, now I would agree with you. And but
- 1:55:04Speaker 6: you might have said this, I feel like you did now.
- 1:55:06Speaker 6: I feel it was like premeditated, Yes, that's this was
- 1:55:09Speaker 6: always the plan. And barring him, as Mayo put it
- 1:55:14Speaker 6: in at the beginning, lighting up practice like literally not
- 1:55:16Speaker 6: throwing it incompletion for like three straight days, it wasn't
- 1:55:19Speaker 6: going to change.
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: I don't even think he gave him an opportunity to
- 1:55:22Speaker 4: light up a practice.
- 1:55:23Speaker 6: Right because he's out there throwing to who he's throwing
- 1:55:25Speaker 6: to and behind and all that stuff.
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: But still, even with that caveat, May hasn't always looked
- 1:55:33Speaker 2: that great. He hasn't, Like you can't always blame it
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: on his supporting.
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: I'm not.
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 1:55:39Speaker 4: He's been okay, Yeah, that's okay.
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: That's the disappointment I've had, is like he hasn't lit
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: it up like you would know even if guys are
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: dropping it or running the you would know.
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: May's looking good. I can't say that yet, Yeah, I can't.
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: What I what I was hoping and what I still
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: hope will happen, is that there will come a point
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: where where May is just mentally and physically above Jacoby Brissett.
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: We haven't even seen anything to that yet. I agree,
- 1:56:08Speaker 2: we haven't seen that yet, and that's what I need
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: to see and what Mayo needs to see.
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: I kind of feel like the closest was that middle
- 1:56:16Speaker 5: elevens period today where the couple drops from from Baker.
- 1:56:20Speaker 5: You know, it just it felt like May was making
- 1:56:23Speaker 5: throws and getting the ball in places where maybe they
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: should have been completed.
- 1:56:26Speaker 4: And you know, the teammates weren't helping him out. But
- 1:56:28Speaker 4: I agree with the boys.
- 1:56:29Speaker 6: Not that it always has to be a comparison. But
- 1:56:32Speaker 6: like going back to Max Rocky training camp, it was
- 1:56:35Speaker 6: the Giants joint practices that really turned the corner for
- 1:56:39Speaker 6: Mac Jones. I just think there's a lot riding on
- 1:56:41Speaker 6: that Eagles joint practice. And to Fred's point, we haven't
- 1:56:45Speaker 6: necessarily seen him may have one of those dominant practices.
- 1:56:50Speaker 6: I don't know if we necessarily saw that from Mac
- 1:56:52Speaker 6: until we got into that the joint Bram wasn't there. Yeah,
- 1:56:56Speaker 6: and then that Giant joint practice happened, and that was
- 1:56:58Speaker 6: sort of the day he.
- 1:57:00Speaker 4: Came to say he won it by default because the
- 1:57:02Speaker 4: other guy wasn't there.
- 1:57:03Speaker 6: I mean, he had a really good practice.
- 1:57:04Speaker 4: He did, he did, but he got the opportunity because
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: the other quarterback was not doing what he needed to
- 1:57:10Speaker 4: do to be on the field. I don't think that's
- 1:57:12Speaker 4: gonna happen with percent. I think, you know, like I said,
- 1:57:14Speaker 4: barring an injury, yeah, that could change it.
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: But I'm not giving up hope.
- 1:57:18Speaker 4: He's going to be doing up.
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: Hope Brandon, he's still got this preseason game. Let's see
- 1:57:22Speaker 3: what he does.
- 1:57:23Speaker 2: We got the joint practice, Let's see how Mao uses
- 1:57:26Speaker 2: him in the joint practice, because that'll be a good,
- 1:57:29Speaker 2: you know, early kind of test for him.
- 1:57:32Speaker 3: We'll see. All right, that's going to be it for
