Latest / The Dream Team / Dream Team: Week 7
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's time to set your lineup with the Dream Team.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Here's Jim Zoki and John Halpin.
- 0:09Speaker 1: All right, it is that time. John Halpin talking fantasy
- 0:12Speaker 1: football with the Panthers back at home, taking on Tampa
- 0:14Speaker 1: Bay for the Sunday game. We'll catch up on the
- 0:16Speaker 1: pregame show for that one. And out of the bye week, John,
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Panthers picked up right where they left off out
- 0:21Speaker 1: of the Detroit game. Not quite the biggest of numbers,
- 0:24Speaker 1: but somehow Tommy Trumbull, I guess he had a good day.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Bryce Young still being very efficient with what he's doing.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Chuba Hubbard has become like a lock and load running
- 0:34Speaker 1: back out there right now. And good to have Jalen
- 0:36Speaker 1: Coker back. So some good signs overall for fantasy football
- 0:39Speaker 1: folks that had Carolina Panthers on their roster.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Again, fantasy skills everywhere. We said when we talked last
- 0:45Speaker 3: Thursday on a Sunday morning, we said it would probably
- 0:46Speaker 3: be kind of a low scoring game.
- 0:48Speaker 2: And it was.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I mean, 25 points, solid. Not awesome, but solid. You know,
- 0:52Speaker 3: there was enough to go around for everybody. Like all
- 0:54Speaker 3: of the Panthers skill players were, produced for.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Their fantasy managers.
- 0:59Speaker 3: And, uh, again, Jalen Coker's the one, like he out-targeted Teteroa.
- 1:04Speaker 3: He's like, they're just, again, this is not a one
- 1:06Speaker 3: and a two. This is a one A and a
- 1:08Speaker 3: one B here.
- 1:10Speaker 1: An embarrassment of riches is what we got there. And
- 1:12Speaker 1: which is the opposite of fantasy football because normally it's, um,
- 1:16Speaker 1: the running back that has by committee and the committee
- 1:19Speaker 1: right now is one person, Chuba Hubbard.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It sure is. I mean, 28 carries. And he was great.
- 1:23Speaker 3: He just kind of, you know, with the lead in
- 1:25Speaker 3: the second half, they just really leaned on him.
- 1:28Speaker 2: He looks great.
- 1:30Speaker 3: He drafted him in the seventh or eighth round. What a,
- 1:32Speaker 3: what just fantastic. I don't, what's the outlook on Jonathan Brooks?
- 1:35Speaker 3: Still a few more weeks. We're not sure. But for now,
- 1:38Speaker 3: I mean, Chuba's the guy until he's not the guy.
- 1:41Speaker 1: It's certainly at least something November-ish, and probably later November
- 1:46Speaker 1: at that. But yeah, no time soon. He was like
- 1:48Speaker 1: a couple-month injury when he went down previously. So this week,
- 1:51Speaker 1: the matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and a lot
- 1:56Speaker 1: of indications that Baker Mayfield may be back for this one,
- 1:59Speaker 1: coming back from a dislocated thumb. And basically, he said
- 2:02Speaker 1: if he could handle the stitches being out and handle
- 2:04Speaker 1: the football... he'd be fine. And he did practice as
- 2:07Speaker 1: we talked Thursday, didn't practice yesterday. So at least the
- 2:10Speaker 1: way Dave Canales is talking, he expects his former quarterback,
- 2:13Speaker 1: if he could practice to be able to play in
- 2:14Speaker 1: this one.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah. It's weird.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Cause they said full practice, but they shared reps. So
- 2:19Speaker 3: I guess they're just trying to see if Baker's okay.
- 2:21Speaker 3: You know, there's no restrictions right now, but I would
- 2:23Speaker 3: expect him to be back unless something really bad happens.
- 2:26Speaker 3: And hopefully he'll, you know, from a fantasy standpoint, maybe
- 2:29Speaker 3: not this week, he makes some of their receivers a
- 2:30Speaker 3: little better, but.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Baker is, He wasn't doing that great.
- 2:33Speaker 3: The good thing about him is in his first three starts,
- 2:35Speaker 3: you know, 615 passing yards, kind of okay. A couple
- 2:38Speaker 3: of touchdowns, that's probably going to regress to the mean
- 2:40Speaker 3: and improve. 65 rush yards. You know, Baker scrambles a
- 2:43Speaker 3: little bit, which is nice if you have him on
- 2:44Speaker 3: your fantasy team.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, probably not your regular starter. If you have him
- 2:48Speaker 1: on your bench, he's probably the fill-in guy. But, you know,
- 2:52Speaker 1: with the receivers is what you wonder about there. And
- 2:54Speaker 1: just like with no Mike Evans there, it's just not
- 2:57Speaker 1: very enticing, is it, as far as any of the
- 2:59Speaker 1: pass catchers?
- 3:00Speaker 3: No, and we thought before the season that Ibuka was
- 3:02Speaker 3: probably going to step up. The thing is, he had
- 3:06Speaker 3: that toe injury in camp, and that was something that
- 3:09Speaker 3: some people thought would linger, and it seemed to. Right
- 3:11Speaker 3: now he's got a concussion. But he's averaging less than
- 3:14Speaker 3: 10 yards a catch, 28 for 240. That is just
- 3:17Speaker 3: not good. I know last week he got a ton
- 3:19Speaker 3: of targets, and maybe Baker brings him back to life
- 3:22Speaker 3: a little bit if he plays this week. But yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 3: that whole receiving court not going well, and Ibuka, he's
- 3:26Speaker 3: the big disappointment because he's the one you expected to
- 3:28Speaker 3: do well.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Bucky Irving, I mean, good running back, but stats-wise, he's
- 3:33Speaker 1: a little bit up and down, right? A little bit
- 3:35Speaker 1: unpredictable as far as that will do with Dewey.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah, he is one that I feel bad that I
- 3:40Speaker 3: missed on because I had a lot of shares in
- 3:42Speaker 3: him when he was a rookie, and he looked so good.
- 3:44Speaker 2: And last year, he didn't. It was because he was hurt.
- 3:46Speaker 3: And I bought into the whole thing this year coming in. Well,
- 3:48Speaker 3: they got Gainwell, and Sean Tucker runs near the goal line,
- 3:51Speaker 3: and Bucky's just kind of part of a committee. Bucky's
- 3:53Speaker 3: a really nice back. And, you know, over 500 yards
- 3:56Speaker 3: from scrimmage in his first six games. He's got three touchdowns.
- 3:59Speaker 2: He's really good.
- 3:59Speaker 3: He's running back 18 in fantasy, but I really like him.
- 4:02Speaker 3: He's one of those guys who you lock and load
- 4:03Speaker 3: every week and start him.
- 4:05Speaker 1: All right, so Bucky Irving, probably the best play out
- 4:07Speaker 1: of anybody from Tampa Bay. As far as the Bucs defense,
- 4:11Speaker 1: any worries with the Panthers going against them or just
- 4:14Speaker 1: kind of standard stuff?
- 4:16Speaker 2: Standard stuff they haven't done well.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Coming into the year, Todd Bowles' defense has always racked
- 4:20Speaker 3: up the sacks and things, and they're just not. They're
- 4:23Speaker 3: not playing well at all. This whole thing in Tampa
- 4:25Speaker 3: is just not going well.
- 4:27Speaker 1: One win so far. Hopefully the Panthers can keep them down.
- 4:30Speaker 1: The teams that you want to not have players up
- 4:32Speaker 1: for this week are the Bills, Jaguars, Commanders, and Chargers.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And if you're playing a Charger, shame on you. I
- 4:40Speaker 1: even took a flyer on Ladd McConkie last week just
- 4:45Speaker 1: because I picked him off the waiver wire. And I figured,
- 4:49Speaker 1: you know, somebody's got to catch the ball. If they're
- 4:51Speaker 1: really losing, they'll be throwing the ball. And then he
- 4:52Speaker 1: gets a concussion. So I was like, this whole thing
- 4:55Speaker 1: is just like a never-ending mess with the Chargers this year.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Disaster.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And people drafted a lot of those guys high. McConkie
- 5:01Speaker 3: went in round three. Omarion Hampton, round one in some leagues,
- 5:05Speaker 3: and he's part of a three-man committee. It's just not
- 5:08Speaker 3: only in real life, but in fantasy football, the Chargers
- 5:10Speaker 3: are also a mess.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Except for Justin Herbert's personal life seems to be
- 5:16Speaker 1: going pretty well. But other than that, let's look at
- 5:19Speaker 1: what injury situations we may have out there. This is
- 5:22Speaker 1: a big one. Devontae Adams out six to ten weeks,
- 5:26Speaker 1: their touchdown guy, with a hamstring injury. That's a big
- 5:29Speaker 1: one for the Rams.
- 5:30Speaker 2: That's huge.
- 5:31Speaker 3: And it means more volume for Puka Nakua, maybe some
- 5:35Speaker 3: for their tight ends, but you never know who it's
- 5:36Speaker 3: going to be because they play a lot of 13 personnel.
- 5:38Speaker 3: So this week it could be Tyler Higbee. Next week
- 5:41Speaker 3: it could be Ferguson when he comes off IR. it's
- 5:43Speaker 3: going to be tough to tell a week to week thing,
- 5:45Speaker 3: but Puka is going to get all the volume he
- 5:47Speaker 3: can handle.
- 5:48Speaker 1: And this is a guy who's, you know, wasn't healthy
- 5:50Speaker 1: to begin the season. So we'll see if that wears
- 5:52Speaker 1: him down too, but we'll see as the time moves on.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And then Baltimore, Lamar Jackson, this is an interesting one.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Didn't play last week with the ankle injury kind of
- 6:02Speaker 1: still up in the air right now, right?
- 6:04Speaker 2: He is up in the air.
- 6:04Speaker 3: He was limited on Wednesday and, and part of the
- 6:08Speaker 3: dangers of social media is, So he walks off the
- 6:10Speaker 3: field yesterday, and people are pointing out, look, he's walking
- 6:13Speaker 3: with a limp. And people start retweeting, look, he's walking
- 6:15Speaker 3: with a limp. Then other people come in and say,
- 6:17Speaker 3: he always walks like that.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Just stop overreacting, everybody.
- 6:22Speaker 3: So he was limited Wednesday. They're hoping he can get
- 6:26Speaker 3: back this week. I think it's going to be if
- 6:27Speaker 3: you're going to have to wait until Friday.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Thank you, all you insiders, for your little blessings there. Yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 1: it'd be the greatest if he was doing a smoke
- 6:36Speaker 1: screen anyway, like making it obvious that he's going to play,
- 6:39Speaker 1: just to make it look like he wasn't going to play.
- 6:40Speaker 1: But we'll see with his status. Jalen Hurts, we know,
- 6:43Speaker 1: is not going to play this season with a blood
- 6:45Speaker 1: clot situation. As I said, that kind of escalated quickly.
- 6:49Speaker 1: And I think the NFLPA wants an investigation, even though
- 6:51Speaker 1: the NFL's come out and said they did nothing wrong.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And I'm not saying they did do anything wrong, but
- 6:56Speaker 1: it was just an odd set of circumstances when you
- 6:58Speaker 1: hear all the stories about them being overseas and He
- 7:01Speaker 1: wasn't allowed to go to sleep for 36 hours. He
- 7:03Speaker 1: played in that game prior to the Panther game. He
- 7:06Speaker 1: sat out. So talk about a mess. That's a lot
- 7:09Speaker 1: going on with that whole medical situation.
- 7:11Speaker 2: It really is.
- 7:12Speaker 3: And I'm having a hard time believing that a bunch
- 7:15Speaker 3: of doctors sat there and said, hey, the guy has
- 7:17Speaker 3: a blood clot and he's in danger of being really sick.
- 7:21Speaker 3: So let's let him go play football. I almost want
- 7:24Speaker 3: to believe that there is a reasonable explanation. I just
- 7:26Speaker 3: don't really know what it is.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Which I get the part about you shouldn't sleep, but
- 7:30Speaker 1: you shouldn't play football if you can't sleep.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Like pick one or the other as far as a
- 7:35Speaker 1: wrap to go with that. So he's out. And we
- 7:38Speaker 1: saw last week that the passing game with McKee was
- 7:41Speaker 1: not great. They, again, have a lot of injuries in
- 7:44Speaker 1: the backfield. I guess we're still kind of week to
- 7:47Speaker 1: week with Saquon Barkley with a hamstring. This could be
- 7:49Speaker 1: the week or it might be next week.
- 7:52Speaker 3: It does sound like this week or next week that
- 7:54Speaker 3: he's close, but they're not sure if he's definitely back.
- 7:56Speaker 3: One thing I do want to know about that, as
- 7:57Speaker 3: bad as they looked, they're going to let Tanner McKee
- 8:00Speaker 3: throw because he's kind of a dropback passer. He's different
- 8:03Speaker 3: than Jalen Hurts. He targeted Devontae Smith a lot. So
- 8:07Speaker 3: if you have Devontae Smith, don't despair. He's going to
- 8:11Speaker 3: get the volume most likely. And even though the catchable
- 8:15Speaker 3: rate might not be awesome because McKee is still learning,
- 8:18Speaker 3: it should be okay for him.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah. And, you know, obviously seeing Devontae Smith in person,
- 8:23Speaker 1: you're reminded how good he is. He's really good. But
- 8:26Speaker 1: also Dallas Goddard, you know, he's, again, as far as
- 8:28Speaker 1: the tight end position goes, he's productive. I mean, I
- 8:31Speaker 1: say that. And again, like you said, somebody's got to
- 8:34Speaker 1: catch the ball. And that's an easier target for a
- 8:35Speaker 1: young quarterback, I would think.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Goddard, we talked about before last week, Goddard was the
- 8:41Speaker 3: likely beneficiary and he's going to continue to be.
- 8:44Speaker 1: From the Monday game, Terry McLaurin. This is like last
- 8:47Speaker 1: year all over again with these Washington injuries. They just
- 8:50Speaker 1: got the quarterback back, Daniels, and now it is Terry
- 8:53Speaker 1: McLaurin who's out for the season this time with a
- 8:56Speaker 1: knee injury after battling injuries last year.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Yeah, brutal for the Commanders. They're off this week, so
- 9:01Speaker 3: no action required yet. If you want to get a
- 9:03Speaker 3: jump on it, Antonio Williams, Clemson rookie, might be someone.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I mean, they're going to throw to Diggs, but Antonio
- 9:09Speaker 3: Williams might pick up some targets there that he can
- 9:12Speaker 3: probably be grabbed in any league you want.
- 9:15Speaker 1: When you hear Achilles, you think the worst, but when
- 9:18Speaker 1: Mike Evans left the game, they say it was not
- 9:20Speaker 1: a severe injury. It's more of a tendonitis situation, but what,
- 9:24Speaker 1: what's his status we think for upcoming games?
- 9:27Speaker 3: Probably out this week from here. It's kind of TBD.
- 9:31Speaker 3: There's the words that I've seen are he's likely to
- 9:35Speaker 3: miss some time.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Like, thanks everybody. That's a big help. So maybe a
- 9:38Speaker 2: couple of weeks, who knows?
- 9:40Speaker 1: What's the status with Rasheed Rice?
- 9:43Speaker 3: He didn't practice again Wednesday. He missed last week. It's
- 9:46Speaker 3: tracking toward being out again this week with his hamstring injury.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Not good.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Jeremiah Love has become that guy that I do not
- 9:52Speaker 1: love because I drafted him in two of my three leagues.
- 9:54Speaker 1: And I always draft some guy way too high, second
- 9:57Speaker 1: round in this case, of a guy that I thought, well,
- 10:00Speaker 1: they invested a top five pick in him. Certainly he'll
- 10:02Speaker 1: be the bell cow, but he hasn't been. And he's
- 10:04Speaker 1: been dinged up since preseason. Right now I'm currently sitting
- 10:08Speaker 1: on my bench, so I don't really know quite what
- 10:10Speaker 1: to do with him.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and you're probably going to sit him again this week.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Last week we talked about how the coach said, well,
- 10:16Speaker 3: we've got to get that knee right. I went, okay,
- 10:18Speaker 3: that doesn't sound great. And this week, yes, on Wednesday,
- 10:21Speaker 3: the coach said, well, you know, they asked about what
- 10:23Speaker 3: his status was. He said, well, he's not playing until
- 10:25Speaker 3: he's 100%. And I think what Coastal Floor is looking
- 10:29Speaker 3: at there is, well, he has Tyler Algier. He also
- 10:32Speaker 3: ran Bam Knight last week, who 15 carries for 80 yards.
- 10:36Speaker 3: And he's got capable enough backs, not as good as
- 10:39Speaker 3: Jeremiah Love. And like you said, top five pick, you
- 10:41Speaker 3: think he'd play all the time, but he wants to
- 10:43Speaker 3: make sure he's healthy before he plays. And he's being
- 10:45Speaker 3: careful with him. And that doesn't sound great for week seven.
- 10:48Speaker 1: All right. But other running backs in the news, we've
- 10:51Speaker 1: got a bunch to get to. So here we have
- 10:53Speaker 1: Brees Hall with the quad injury with the Jets.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Still not practicing, so they're hoping he'd get back this week.
- 10:58Speaker 3: But another one, Braylon Allen's playing well. Why rush Brees
- 11:02Speaker 3: Hall back if he's not ready?
- 11:04Speaker 1: Houston, David Montgomery with the groin injury. What's his status?
- 11:08Speaker 2: Still going to be out again, most likely. Woody Marks
- 11:10Speaker 2: still runs with that one.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I drafted DeAndre Swift in one of my leagues and
- 11:16Speaker 1: got Kyle Menungai as the handcuff. And the handcuff went
- 11:20Speaker 1: for like 130 yards a couple of weeks ago. He
- 11:22Speaker 1: got hurt in that game and he's not been back
- 11:24Speaker 1: and he's not going to play this week, right?
- 11:26Speaker 3: No, they said that was going to be a multi-week
- 11:28Speaker 3: absence and he's out again. This is a Thursday night game.
- 11:30Speaker 3: So definitely count out Menungai. If you have Swift, you're
- 11:33Speaker 3: certainly rolling with him. And we're going to get to
- 11:35Speaker 3: the free agent list later. There might be another bear
- 11:37Speaker 3: that you can think about a running back.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Quinn Sean Judkins, good running back on a team that
- 11:43Speaker 1: doesn't provide a lot of offense, unfortunately. He's got an
- 11:46Speaker 1: ankle injury. I guess it looks like he'll play, but
- 11:50Speaker 1: that offense doesn't do anything except account for late field
- 11:53Speaker 1: goal drives to win games. Nothing really happens with that offense.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 11:56Speaker 3: And they're supposedly bringing back Dylan Sampson, who is a
- 12:00Speaker 3: decent receiving back this week. So more bad news for
- 12:03Speaker 3: Quinn Sean Judkins, who's been averaging like 0.1 yards a
- 12:06Speaker 3: carry or something close to that this season.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Jordan Mason, Minnesota Vikings, another thumb injury. It looks like
- 12:13Speaker 1: he'll play.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 3: So he played week one, sort of sharing the backfield,
- 12:18Speaker 3: maybe leaning more toward him in the backfield over Aaron Jones.
- 12:22Speaker 3: So week one, he was 15 for 59 and one
- 12:24Speaker 3: in that win over the comeback, went over the Packers,
- 12:26Speaker 3: hurt his thumb, went on injury reserve. Now he's probably
- 12:29Speaker 3: coming back this week. I think if he comes back,
- 12:31Speaker 3: he's got 12 to 15 carries moving forward. So if
- 12:35Speaker 3: you can still get Jordan Mason, you can probably only
- 12:36Speaker 3: get him in 30% or so or Yahoo leagues, but.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I'm starting him in the league this week where I
- 12:40Speaker 3: have some by players.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Zach Charbonnet, one of my leagues, I was able to
- 12:44Speaker 1: find him on the waiver wire. So he's sitting on
- 12:45Speaker 1: my bench right now. He is expected to play this week.
- 12:48Speaker 1: But do you expect this, especially the first week, will
- 12:50Speaker 1: be some kind of committee back behind him? Still, yeah.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I mean, Zach Charbonnet has never been more than a
- 12:55Speaker 2: committee back.
- 12:57Speaker 3: So as much as they don't like the guys they
- 13:00Speaker 3: have now, Price is, I think, still hurt. I don't
- 13:03Speaker 3: think Charbonnet is going to come back and somehow become
- 13:06Speaker 3: this 20-carry guy. He's going to be a split backfield
- 13:08Speaker 3: with whomever else is healthy. And one other running back
- 13:11Speaker 3: I think we've got to talk about is Josh Jacobs.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Packers might be activating him this week. They say he's
- 13:18Speaker 3: eligible to return. The Packers are saying, well, conditioning-wise, he's
- 13:23Speaker 3: ready to go, but we're not yet sure. I think
- 13:26Speaker 3: they'll probably play him unless something goes wrong in practice
- 13:29Speaker 3: this week. And if you've been stashing Josh Jacobs on
- 13:31Speaker 3: your bench, it might be time to start him.
- 13:33Speaker 1: All right. So that's kind of the list of the
- 13:35Speaker 1: running backs and their injuries. So tight end Tyler Warren
- 13:38Speaker 1: got injured late in the week in practice and didn't
- 13:40Speaker 1: play last week. What's his status for this week?
- 13:43Speaker 2: He didn't practice again Wednesday.
- 13:45Speaker 3: I'll call my Colts insider tonight and see if she
- 13:48Speaker 3: can give us some insight on that one. But right now,
- 13:52Speaker 3: Tyler Warren not tracking well in the Colts. Things are
- 13:54Speaker 3: not going well in Indy.
- 13:56Speaker 1: And what is going on with your New York Giants
- 13:58Speaker 1: this week as they play at Houston? So J.J.
- 14:01Speaker 3: McCarthy is going to start quarterbacking. Funny, the line was
- 14:04Speaker 3: Houston minus nine and a half. And when the Giants
- 14:06Speaker 3: announced McCarthy, it went up to ten and a half.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Just so, you know, the Giants homers can see what
- 14:12Speaker 3: the rest of the world thinks of this move. Look,
- 14:14Speaker 3: I know he can run a little bit. Maybe he
- 14:16Speaker 3: can run away from that pass rush. But remember, we're
- 14:18Speaker 3: a month removed from J.J. McCarthy being a guy that
- 14:21Speaker 3: the Vikings didn't want to make their number two quarterback
- 14:23Speaker 3: over Carson Wentz. I don't think this is going to
- 14:25Speaker 3: go well, no matter how well he played in the.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Fourth quarter last week.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Wow. Okay. So there you go. Not all top 10
- 14:30Speaker 1: picks make it, as we know, in the NFL. So
- 14:32Speaker 1: let's see what's out there potentially on people's waiver wires
- 14:36Speaker 1: as they get ready for, as I mentioned, four teams
- 14:38Speaker 1: on a bye week this week, the big one being
- 14:40Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills in particular, Jacksonville Jaguars. If you're looking
- 14:43Speaker 1: to get a quarterback who might be available out there
- 14:46Speaker 1: for somebody to pick up for at least a week.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Michael Penix, he's looked good the last few weeks. He's
- 14:50Speaker 2: available in 84% of Yahoo! Leagues.
- 14:53Speaker 3: They're playing the Niners at home. Someone's got to beat
- 14:55Speaker 3: the Niners at some point. The over-under is 49.5. And
- 14:59Speaker 3: it's one of those early games. It's an early game,
- 15:01Speaker 3: I think, East Coast. Penix has been averaging 236 passing
- 15:06Speaker 3: yards in his starts. He's got six touchdowns, four starts.
- 15:09Speaker 3: He's doing okay, but he looks decent. Not great, but
- 15:14Speaker 3: he's got Drake London, who's really good. He's finally getting
- 15:17Speaker 3: the ball to Kyle Pitts. I know they would rather
- 15:20Speaker 3: run the ball, but I don't know that The game
- 15:22Speaker 3: against the Niners is going to be a situation where
- 15:24Speaker 3: they're ahead enough to run the ball a lot. I
- 15:26Speaker 3: think he's going to need to throw. Last couple of
- 15:27Speaker 3: weeks have been over 30 attempts. I think Michael Penix,
- 15:30Speaker 3: if you're in a pinch, you don't have Josh Allen,
- 15:31Speaker 3: Trevor Lawrence, guys like that. Penix is a guy you
- 15:33Speaker 3: can grab.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Again, these are all suggestions if you're trying to
- 15:36Speaker 1: get through a week here. And running back, we know
- 15:39Speaker 1: those waiver wires are always thin. Anybody out there that
- 15:41Speaker 1: might buy you a couple points this week?
- 15:43Speaker 2: I think so.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Kendri Miller on the Saints. He's available in more than
- 15:47Speaker 3: half of Yahoo leagues. The Saints were up big last
- 15:49Speaker 3: week over the Giants, so they ran a lot, but
- 15:51Speaker 3: he had 20 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Roshon Johnson, we mentioned the.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Bears earlier, he's available in most leagues on Yahoo. He
- 15:57Speaker 3: went 13 for 51 with a touchdown last week with
- 16:00Speaker 3: Kyle Menonga out. He also caught a touchdown pass, so
- 16:03Speaker 3: he's a.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Guy you can grab.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Finally, I mentioned Bam Knight on the Cardinals, 15 for
- 16:07Speaker 3: 80 last week. He's probably going to share time with
- 16:09Speaker 3: Tyler Algier, but you've got some options here. If you
- 16:11Speaker 3: have James Cook on a bye and all that litany
- 16:14Speaker 3: of running backs we mentioned earlier, you've got some options
- 16:17Speaker 3: on the waiver wire that are okay.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Wide receivers. These guys can be boom or bust. I
- 16:21Speaker 1: saw the numbers on Omar Cooper last week with the Jets.
- 16:25Speaker 1: He had six catches, 103 yards, and a touchdown. It's
- 16:28Speaker 1: always tempting, but I always feel like that was the
- 16:30Speaker 1: game of his life. It'll never happen if I ever
- 16:32Speaker 1: activated him, if I ever got him. So what do
- 16:34Speaker 1: you think about him and some possibilities at the wide
- 16:36Speaker 1: receiver position?
- 16:37Speaker 3: I think he's okay. And if I needed a receiver
- 16:40Speaker 3: this week, he'd be the guy I'd look at. It's
- 16:43Speaker 3: weird to think that you would pick the second receiver
- 16:46Speaker 3: on the jets in a game where the jets are
- 16:48Speaker 3: probably going to be, are probably going to win over
- 16:51Speaker 3: the dolphins, like be favored, but you know, beggars can't
- 16:54Speaker 3: be choosers and the wide receiver pool is pretty thin.
- 16:56Speaker 3: So Cooper and DeMar Douglas on the, on the Patriots
- 17:00Speaker 3: who's playing tonight. He's got 11 catches in his last
- 17:02Speaker 3: two games.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Again, no superstars at wide receiver here.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Tight end. We spin the wheel of which LA Ram
- 17:07Speaker 1: might catch footballs this week. Which one do you like
- 17:09Speaker 1: the best?
- 17:09Speaker 3: I like Tyler Higbee until Ferguson returns from, from IR
- 17:13Speaker 3: Higbee's the guy. Uh, he's been in this space the
- 17:15Speaker 3: last two weeks, but you know, he's, he's as bottom
- 17:19Speaker 3: feeder tight ends go or like low level tight end ones.
- 17:22Speaker 2: He's okay.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Um, Stafford likes him, uh, last week he was, you know,
- 17:27Speaker 3: less productive than the two previous weeks, but Tyler Higby
- 17:30Speaker 3: is kind of okay.
- 17:31Speaker 2: And he's available.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And which defense are we streaming this week off waivers?
- 17:36Speaker 3: Um, the jets, uh, versus the dolphins jets are available
- 17:39Speaker 3: in over 60% of Yahoo leagues.
- 17:41Speaker 2: And the Browns defense has been playing well.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Look, I know the Titans came back last week and
- 17:45Speaker 3: beat the Colts, and Cam Ward was kind of okay,
- 17:47Speaker 3: but I would like to bet against Cam Ward. And
- 17:50Speaker 3: the Browns defense has been pretty darn good in fantasy.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and in real life, too. And the Jets even
- 17:55Speaker 1: got a few interceptions a few weeks ago, I saw.
- 17:57Speaker 1: So that broke like a nine-year streak of not having interceptions.
- 18:01Speaker 1: We always have to see what's going on with Matt
- 18:02Speaker 1: Hogan's lineup this week, what questions Matt might have. Let's
- 18:05Speaker 1: see what he's got today.
- 18:07Speaker 4: My first question is a callback to last week when
- 18:09Speaker 4: we were talking. What do you think of Jeremy Bernard?
- 18:12Speaker 4: Is that a real deal thing, or was that just
- 18:14Speaker 4: a fluke?
- 18:17Speaker 2: I think Aaron Rodgers likes him.
- 18:21Speaker 3: There were stories last week, even when we had this conversation,
- 18:24Speaker 3: about how, wow, he really absorbs the playbook, and I
- 18:28Speaker 3: like this guy, and all that stuff. So you get
- 18:30Speaker 3: Aaron's trust, maybe it works. Look, last two weeks, it's
- 18:33Speaker 3: hard to argue.
- 18:33Speaker 2: 17 catches.
- 18:35Speaker 3: for 167 yards and a touchdown. He's getting targeted a lot.
- 18:39Speaker 3: The fantasy ranking, the expert consensus, he's at wide receiver 23.
- 18:44Speaker 3: You asked last week, is he going to win me
- 18:45Speaker 3: my league? No, I don't think he's going to win
- 18:47Speaker 3: your league because he's still got, they still want to
- 18:49Speaker 3: run the ball. He's still got DK Metcalf there and Fryermuth.
- 18:52Speaker 3: I know Pittman's out, but he can be okay. And
- 18:55Speaker 3: sometimes that's okay.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I'll take okay.
- 18:57Speaker 4: My team, my bench is not very deep. Other question
- 19:01Speaker 4: for you. I'm kind of thin at running back. I
- 19:04Speaker 4: do have Kenneth Walker, which is nice, but my RB2
- 19:07Speaker 4: is Jeremiah Love and then it's Woody Mark. So I
- 19:09Speaker 4: kind of am looking for a running back. Should I
- 19:12Speaker 4: trade a bench receiver in Casey Concepcion for Braylon Allen?
- 19:17Speaker 4: I know Brees is coming back either this week or
- 19:20Speaker 4: next week. Does he still have value? Is that a good,
- 19:24Speaker 4: is that a fair trade?
- 19:25Speaker 3: I think that, that could, I think that's a fair
- 19:29Speaker 3: trade because I don't know that you're going to get
- 19:30Speaker 3: much out of Casey Concepcion. I think he's, In real life,
- 19:33Speaker 3: I would love to have him. In fantasy this year,
- 19:35Speaker 3: I don't think I would. Jim mentioned earlier that Brown's
- 19:38Speaker 3: offense doesn't do much. I think I would take that bet. Again,
- 19:42Speaker 3: this week, I don't know what you're going to get
- 19:43Speaker 3: out of it because Brees Hall's status is very TBD.
- 19:46Speaker 3: But I also don't think the way Allen's playing, I
- 19:48Speaker 3: don't think he's going to be able to do much.
- 19:50Speaker 3: gets buried. I think there's a role for him. I
- 19:52Speaker 3: still think Brees Hall is the one, but Braylon Allen
- 19:55Speaker 3: could get some carries moving forward. And you never know
- 19:57Speaker 3: Brees Hall. I don't know what his contract looks like,
- 19:59Speaker 3: but if the Jets are sellers, you never know. So
- 20:02Speaker 3: I like Braylon Allen and I would make that trade.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Sweet.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Thank you, John. I appreciate it.
- 20:06Speaker 1: All right. Well, good luck to Matt. Good luck to
- 20:08Speaker 1: everybody out there. And John, we'll talk to you Sunday
- 20:10Speaker 1: morning at the home game with Tampa Bay coming up.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Sounds great. Thanks, Jim.
