- 0:22Speaker 1: coming up September 10th. First of all, thank you for
- 0:24Speaker 1: taking the time to chat. Let's talk about this event
- 0:26Speaker 1: and who should be joining us for this event.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Good morning, John. I just want to thank you for
- 0:31Speaker 2: allowing us to share a little bit about this art exhibit.
- 0:33Speaker 2: This exhibit is open, free, and open to the public.
- 0:37Speaker 2: The artwork is work of youth done at the Juvenile
- 0:41Speaker 2: Detention Center. And so, yeah, we just want to... invite
- 0:46Speaker 2: the community to see the work that we are doing
- 0:48Speaker 2: with the youth there.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And again, this is open to the public. It is
- 0:51Speaker 1: coming up September 10th from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Where will we go to see this? Where is this
- 0:57Speaker 1: going to be located?
- 0:58Speaker 2: The event is at the Underground by Rayfield, which is
- 1:01Speaker 2: 431 North Phillips Avenue, right across from the Lubbock.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Very nice. So again, if you're looking for something to
- 1:08Speaker 1: do on September 10th, that's a Thursday evening. 5 p.m.
- 1:11Speaker 1: till 7 p.m., and there's a program at 5.30, so
- 1:14Speaker 1: if you can, it'd be nice to be there for that,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because then you'll learn a little bit more than just
- 1:18Speaker 1: seeing the art, right?
- 1:19Speaker 2: That is correct.
- 1:20Speaker 1: How many different artists are involved in Journey Together Finding
- 1:23Speaker 1: Hope Through the Arts art exhibit? Are there quite a
- 1:25Speaker 1: few different artists involved?
- 1:27Speaker 2: Well, what we do is Journey of Hope. We have
- 1:30Speaker 2: art facilitators that meet with the youth at least four
- 1:33Speaker 2: hours a week. We also had a week-long workshop this
- 1:37Speaker 2: past year, so we Usually during these sessions, we have
- 1:42Speaker 2: about eight youth, whether that's boys or girls that we
- 1:44Speaker 2: meet with, and they're creating different pieces of artwork. So
- 1:49Speaker 2: it's not art that's for sale, but it's art to
- 1:52Speaker 2: showcase the work that we are doing.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I love that. I think that's really cool. And it's
- 1:57Speaker 1: an opportunity for people to kind of see this work
- 1:59Speaker 1: that these people are doing and be able to give
- 2:01Speaker 1: them some feedback and have them feel like an artist because,
- 2:05Speaker 1: you know, you're having an art show. I think that's
- 2:06Speaker 1: really neat. Yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Well, thank you so much.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And if somebody listening is interested, again, it's a free event.
- 2:14Speaker 1: It's September 10th, 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. I'm going
- 2:17Speaker 1: to throw all the details on our Facebook page to
- 2:19Speaker 1: make it really, really easy to find. But let's talk
- 2:21Speaker 1: about Journey of Hope so folks know what you guys do.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And if somebody would like to get involved, how would
- 2:27Speaker 1: they get involved with Journey of Hope?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah, so our website is journeyofhopesd.org. We have two different
- 2:33Speaker 2: programs that we offer, a hygiene program as well as
- 2:36Speaker 2: an art program. So we do art programming at the
- 2:39Speaker 2: Juvenile Detention Center and other places throughout the community. So
- 2:43Speaker 2: we would love for you to check out our Facebook page,
- 2:46Speaker 2: our website, and learn more about how you can be involved.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Very nice. And are you looking for volunteers or donors,
- 2:52Speaker 1: or are you kind of all covered with all of that?
- 2:54Speaker 2: Well, of course, we're always looking for those things. That's
- 2:58Speaker 2: a given.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So if somebody wants to get involved, there's always room.
- 3:01Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Well, thank you, Kari, for taking the time to chat.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And thank you for doing what you do. I think
- 3:06Speaker 1: this is a really neat thing that you're doing on
- 3:07Speaker 1: September 10th.
- 3:08Speaker 2: All right. Thanks so much, John.
