- 0:00Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 0:03Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 0:07Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 0:11Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 0:15Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 0:19Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 0:23Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 0:28Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 0:31Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 0:35Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fined nearly
- 0:39Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will
- 0:43Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 0:46Speaker 1: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws,
- 0:55Speaker 1: border and families will.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Be protected sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 1:00Speaker 3: So let me ask you this Black Hollywood, and We've
- 1:02Speaker 3: been spending a lot of time in Black Hollywood, so
- 1:05Speaker 3: I'm hearing a lot of the same stories told like
- 1:08Speaker 3: it's very tough it's difficult. The budgets are not the same,
- 1:11Speaker 3: and you know a lot of people saying the same
- 1:13Speaker 3: thing for the outside people that's not in that cluster,
- 1:18Speaker 3: and they don't understand, like, what are some of the
- 1:20Speaker 3: challenges that people facing Black Hollywood as far as getting
- 1:25Speaker 3: a movie produced or not getting the same budget for
- 1:29Speaker 3: their white counterparts, because I don't think people have an
- 1:31Speaker 3: appreciation of that.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Well, the very thing that those who are outside of
- 1:37Speaker 4: the Hollywood industry that are in our community, that see
- 1:40Speaker 4: the challenges that.
- 1:42Speaker 5: We deal with every day as of people.
- 1:44Speaker 4: You know, we work twice as hard to get you know,
- 1:48Speaker 4: twice is less as our counterparts, right, and that being said,
- 1:54Speaker 4: it is the same way we're not valued the way
- 1:57Speaker 4: we I believe we supposed to be about. So those
- 2:01Speaker 4: budgets are really important for us so that we can
- 2:04Speaker 4: have the kind of quality that we can resent to
- 2:08Speaker 4: the consumer. And the smaller the budget, the more creative
- 2:14Speaker 4: you have to get. And we don't have resources off
- 2:17Speaker 4: oftentimes as our white counterparts. The real deal is we
- 2:23Speaker 4: don't own any platforms the way we should. There's a
- 2:27Speaker 4: few black owned platforms, but we don't have a lot
- 2:31Speaker 4: of outlets. We don't have as many, So we're not
- 2:35Speaker 4: sort of governing over these entities or these corporations to say, hey,
- 2:44Speaker 4: you guys have a great story, y'all want to tell it,
- 2:46Speaker 4: and there's money to be made, come here.
- 2:50Speaker 5: It's not as many. So when we do find.
- 2:54Speaker 4: That those places, everybody's trying to go through one keyhole.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Everybody's trying to go through one tunnel. And even when
- 3:02Speaker 4: you go to non black owned places, they'll tell you
- 3:05Speaker 4: to go over there because you know, they have to
- 3:09Speaker 4: find value in what we do. And that's changing quite
- 3:12Speaker 4: a bit as we're you know, making it very clear,
- 3:17Speaker 4: and we're loud about it because we have to that.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I always say, and I talk to execs in the
- 3:24Speaker 4: industry in Hollywood that either look like us, and particularly
- 3:27Speaker 4: the ones who are not from the black community. I
- 3:29Speaker 4: tell people all the time, we're not looking for handouts.
- 3:32Speaker 4: We're not asking for any favors. Black folks have earned
- 3:36Speaker 4: the right to have the things that we believe right
- 3:40Speaker 4: from what we've contributed in front of the camera, what
- 3:44Speaker 4: we've done behind the camera, the things that we have
- 3:47Speaker 4: done and changed the narratives, and we've taken the rain.
- 3:52Speaker 4: We've been able to do so much, and we've made
- 3:55Speaker 4: y'all a lot of money ten times, one hundred times
- 4:00Speaker 4: over in a real way. But also the consumers, black communities,
- 4:07Speaker 4: black people support all movies, right, so we have earned that.
- 4:15Speaker 4: We have earned the right to be at the table.
- 4:18Speaker 4: We earned the right to have the you know, decision
- 4:24Speaker 4: making power. And oftentimes in Hollywood historically black folks don't
- 4:30Speaker 4: govern over anything.
- 4:32Speaker 5: We're in front of the camera and it looks good.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Give black folks enough, you know, to keep them quiet,
- 4:37Speaker 4: but not enough to make them a real difference or
- 4:41Speaker 4: have a real impact on the other side of things.
- 4:44Speaker 5: And we want to change that. You know, we don't want.
- 4:46Speaker 4: To just have enough to keep us quiet but really
- 4:49Speaker 4: not make a difference. We're trying to really do something
- 4:53Speaker 4: here and we've earned it on both sides.
- 4:56Speaker 5: So now we have black entrepreneurs and I mean that
- 5:00Speaker 5: you are.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Now we have black entrepreneurs or black you know, companies
- 5:03Speaker 4: that recognize that, and they Hollywood has had to come
- 5:07Speaker 4: together and be a part of sort of you know, uh,
- 5:12Speaker 4: the movement, and because they understand we bring a lot
- 5:15Speaker 4: of money.
- 5:15Speaker 5: So you look at this, it's like look at black Panther.
- 5:18Speaker 6: That's that's where I was going, because what you're saying
- 5:22Speaker 6: is it takes for a black panther and alright, Coogler
- 5:24Speaker 6: to do that, a billion dollar movie, do it again,
- 5:27Speaker 6: another billion dollar success on its way. And then you
- 5:30Speaker 6: hear like what Disney has a divisional Onyx and that
- 5:33Speaker 6: was focusing on black creators, and so I wonder if
- 5:36Speaker 6: I mean, it seems like it's a timing thing, right
- 5:38Speaker 6: even now, like you said, there's a cold time, but
- 5:42Speaker 6: now it's hot. It's a hot thing, and it's a topic.
- 5:46Speaker 6: It's a topic, right, and so now it brings more creatives.
- 5:48Speaker 6: But having just honest isn't enough, right, No, I was going.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I was going to. The next point was like, hey,
- 5:54Speaker 2: take entertainment.
- 5:55Speaker 6: Yeah, like exactly this Now this develops and it's like
- 5:57Speaker 6: you've been working for But now the timing of it
- 5:59Speaker 6: makes sense.
- 6:00Speaker 4: I mean yeah, because now we have executives who are
- 6:02Speaker 4: in these places now that are you know, the heads
- 6:06Speaker 4: of production in their heads of these companies and entertainment
- 6:11Speaker 4: companies that when I walk into a room, they understand
- 6:15Speaker 4: and it's not something that I have to you know,
- 6:18Speaker 4: beat them over the head about like Okay, they get it,
- 6:21Speaker 4: and I'm not going to bring anything that's mediocre. I'm
- 6:23Speaker 4: really believe I'll bring something that's quality or I won't
- 6:26Speaker 4: bring it at all. Right, but you mentioned Tapment Entertainment,
- 6:29Speaker 4: which is a production company, entertainment company that my brothers
- 6:32Speaker 4: Laarn and Lamar and I decided to put together years ago,
- 6:36Speaker 4: and we've had some cool deals.
- 6:37Speaker 5: You know, they'll go and give you.
- 6:40Speaker 6: This episode is brought to you by P and C Bank.

- 8:30Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 8:34Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from El Salvador
- 8:38Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with

- 8:46Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President

- 9:27Speaker 5: Will be protected.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Security, Housing Deal.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Make sure that you're cool, make me pay you some money,
- 9:33Speaker 4: take CAREU. But it's like, okay, it's great to be
- 9:36Speaker 4: in there, and it's great to get a little bit
- 9:37Speaker 4: of that money. But we want to get the product
- 9:39Speaker 4: out there. We want to be able to get the
- 9:41Speaker 4: stories told. We want to be able to make sure
- 9:44Speaker 4: that the voices of the voice list can be heard.
- 9:47Speaker 4: And if we are those you know, the pathway with
- 9:50Speaker 4: the conduits to do that, then we really need to
- 9:55Speaker 4: see those who are like minded and understand the bigger
- 9:58Speaker 4: overall picture.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Want equity.
- 10:01Speaker 4: It's more than just you know, getting the project off
- 10:03Speaker 4: the ground. We want some ownership. And as we do
- 10:06Speaker 4: business with other you know, black entities, quality, you know,
- 10:11Speaker 4: we're looking for quality. We team up with the quality.
- 10:14Speaker 4: We want equity because that's what it's about. It is
- 10:17Speaker 4: a business. And so the fact that we recognize more
- 10:21Speaker 4: of the business. We walk into the rooms and we
- 10:25Speaker 4: are aren't we we we we we know.
- 10:28Speaker 5: What we're doing.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I thought, oh, that was gonna come out. He's gonna
- 10:31Speaker 2: say we go on our ship.
- 10:33Speaker 5: I was about to.
- 10:36Speaker 3: It's been a pleasure, my brother. Anything that you want
- 10:39Speaker 3: to make the public aware of any new projects, of
- 10:42Speaker 3: course you know your Power, but anything you're working on.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I want to talk about obviously Power Ghosts season three,
- 10:49Speaker 4: that's out, that's covered out.
- 10:51Speaker 5: It's going to be an incredible season. Coun Yes, counselmen
- 10:55Speaker 5: tell you that's the connection.
- 10:57Speaker 4: And you know, can't give too much away, but I
- 11:00Speaker 4: can't say that we've elevated some things. We're definitely gonna
- 11:03Speaker 4: you know, see counsel and take up to his Shenanigan
- 11:07Speaker 4: how to do that.
- 11:08Speaker 5: It wouldn't be you know, there's gonna be some blood something.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a backdoor deals, it's a you know, some
- 11:15Speaker 4: nonsense going on.
- 11:16Speaker 5: And no, I'm excited about it. It's a it's a
- 11:19Speaker 5: it's a.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Great body will be sacrificed.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Absolutely mandatory, it has to happen. But I'm excited about
- 11:27Speaker 4: this season and what the whole Power Universe is representing.
- 11:31Speaker 5: What else we got.
- 11:32Speaker 4: We my brothers and I actually are working on a
- 11:34Speaker 4: docu series about social injustice, about the marginalization of specifically
- 11:39Speaker 4: black people, and we are filmed it in Chicago, right
- 11:42Speaker 4: We've been working on the West Side, in the South
- 11:44Speaker 4: Side Chicago, really just showing, you know, why some of
- 11:48Speaker 4: the things are happening, but beyond why are the things
- 11:51Speaker 4: happening in terms of the marginalization of us and our community,
- 11:55Speaker 4: what are the solutions? And we are trying to create
- 11:58Speaker 4: something that allows the people who are going through what
- 12:02Speaker 4: they're going through to come up with the solutions. Oftentimes
- 12:04Speaker 4: it's people who are behind the scenes or off to
- 12:06Speaker 4: the side who is not even we're not even from
- 12:08Speaker 4: the community deciding what is best for those who are
- 12:11Speaker 4: dealing with the deal with it. But guess who knows
- 12:14Speaker 4: the people who have been able to survive, the people
- 12:16Speaker 4: who have been able to overcome those hurdles and those
- 12:18Speaker 4: pitfalls and those land mines. So we wanted to create
- 12:21Speaker 4: something that allows the voices of those who are dealing
- 12:25Speaker 4: with it.
- 12:26Speaker 5: To tell us what the solution is and let's figure
- 12:29Speaker 5: that out.
- 12:29Speaker 4: So we're also involved with some redevelopment, you know, we
- 12:34Speaker 4: have to call it redevelopment, but basically it's.
- 12:36Speaker 5: Gentrification in the hood.
- 12:37Speaker 4: And I'm like, yo, hold up, how can we be
- 12:39Speaker 4: a part of that, you know, redevelopment because it's really
- 12:42Speaker 4: important and as you know with gentrification, you know, it's
- 12:45Speaker 4: valuable land, it's valuable you know, communities, but they displace
- 12:50Speaker 4: those who inhabit it, and it's particularly black folks, black
- 12:52Speaker 4: and brown people, right, And so we're like, how can
- 12:55Speaker 4: we find this social equity?
- 12:56Speaker 5: How can we find opportunities to keep.
- 12:59Speaker 4: You know, to redevelop it, get all the amenities, housing,
- 13:03Speaker 4: affordable housing, you know, businesses that the people who live
- 13:07Speaker 4: there could take part, and they're not displaced, right, And
- 13:10Speaker 4: we can create businesses and we can create you know,
- 13:13Speaker 4: schools and museums. And this is not like sort of
- 13:17Speaker 4: like a pipe stream. It's like it is attainable.
- 13:19Speaker 5: It happens.
- 13:20Speaker 4: It just doesn't happen with us often. So we're doing
- 13:23Speaker 4: all the things that we can to be a part
- 13:25Speaker 4: of that. We're dealing with developers and architects and lawyers
- 13:28Speaker 4: and you know, financial people that you know, look like
- 13:31Speaker 4: us that we could be a part of the narrative
- 13:33Speaker 4: to redevelop and help buy back the block you had.
- 13:36Speaker 2: My last thing, you had a successful odio series.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Yes, so Bronsville represents that and that's at that. Yeah,
- 13:42Speaker 4: so we have more of that.
- 13:43Speaker 5: You know. Bronsville is sort of a road map, if
- 13:47Speaker 5: you will.
- 13:49Speaker 4: The actual story is like a story of the mind
- 13:53Speaker 4: where you can like hear like this podcast, right, but
- 13:56Speaker 4: we scripted it.
- 13:57Speaker 5: There's characters in it.
- 13:58Speaker 4: And it takes place in an nineteen thirties nineteen forties
- 14:01Speaker 4: on the South side of Chicago in a community called Bronzeville,
- 14:05Speaker 4: where black folks were self sufficient and the way that
- 14:08Speaker 4: they became self sufficient financially was running numbers. Other communities
- 14:13Speaker 4: were you know, bootlegging, when doing liquor and all that stuff.
- 14:16Speaker 4: During Prohibition, black folks we were running numbers. And what
- 14:20Speaker 4: happened was as a result of creating this economic infrastructure,
- 14:25Speaker 4: they began to invest in the community. So these people
- 14:28Speaker 4: will call policy kings, decided to invest into like the
- 14:32Speaker 4: first black owned bank, the first department store in Chicago
- 14:35Speaker 4: that was black on the grocery stores, and we had
- 14:38Speaker 4: this metropolis of a community where we had our own
- 14:43Speaker 4: police departments when we policed ourselves, and we had our
- 14:46Speaker 4: own grocery stores and butcher shops where people would look
- 14:48Speaker 4: out for each other. And I felt like we got
- 14:50Speaker 4: away from that, and we wanted to tell the story
- 14:53Speaker 4: of how we can get back to that because it
- 14:55Speaker 4: is attainable for us as black folks to unite, thrive
- 14:58Speaker 4: and have a true a part of the piece of
- 15:01Speaker 4: American dream turners.
- 15:09Speaker 2: What's going on.
- 15:10Speaker 6: Listen, Eylu is relaunching, revamping, retooling. That's why we're creating
- 15:14Speaker 6: a new educational experience that's more expensive.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Shy telling we gods twenty twenty three. We've got a
- 15:21Speaker 3: lot in still a lot planning for you guys. So
- 15:23Speaker 3: you know that Eylu already includes monthly financial planning calls
- 15:27Speaker 3: with Me, book Club calls with Troy, real estate calls
- 15:30Speaker 3: with MG the Mortgage Guy, access to the Home Buying
- 15:33Speaker 3: Blueprint Volume one and Volume two. Part of the revamp
- 15:37Speaker 3: will include twenty seven local chapters from across the United States,
- 15:41Speaker 3: live interactive teaching, hands on not just pre recorded videos,
- 15:46Speaker 3: plus fifteen brand new curriculums.
- 15:49Speaker 2: The biggest just got bigger.
- 15:51Speaker 7: Head over to eyluniversity dot com. That's EYL. You n
- 15:57Speaker 7: i v r si e Y dot com.
- 16:02Speaker 2: See you there,
