- 0:00Podcastheroes.com. Welcome to The Daily Quote, the
- 0:05podcast designed to kick start your day in a positive way.
- 0:09I'm our host, Anna McGivern for December 31st.
- 0:12Today is New Year's Eve, the last day of 2025 and the
- 0:17threshold between what was and what's coming.
- 0:21Tonight, people across the world will gather to mark this
- 0:25transition. Champagne toasts, countdown
- 0:28clocks, fireworks lighting up midnight skies.
- 0:31The celebration is universal, even though the reasons vary.
- 0:36Some celebrate accomplishments. Some celebrate survival.
- 0:40Some celebrate simply making it through another year.
- 0:43New Year's Eve is both ending and beginning.
- 0:47We say goodbye to 2025 while preparing to say hello to 2026.
- 0:52We're standing in the doorway between two years, 1 foot in
- 0:56each, honoring the past while facing the future.
- 1:01And that brings us to today's quote from Roman philosopher
- 1:04Seneca, who captured this perfectly when he wrote Every
- 1:09new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.
- 1:14Seneca understood that endings and beginnings aren't separate
- 1:17events. They're two sides of the same
- 1:19moment. Today, December 31st, is both.
- 1:25At midnight, 2025 ends and 2026 begins.
- 1:30Same instant, same breath. You can't have one without the
- 1:34other. The new year can't start until
- 1:36the old one finishes. The beginning requires the
- 1:40ending. This applies beyond calendars.
- 1:44Every chapter of your life works this way.
- 1:47To begin something new, something else must end.
- 1:50A new job means leaving an old one.
- 1:52A new relationship means closing a previous chapter.
- 1:55New growth requires letting old versions of yourself fall away.
- 2:01We resist endings. We hold on trying to keep things
- 2:05as they were. But Seneca reminds us, endings
- 2:09aren't obstacles to beginnings. They're requirements.
- 2:13The end creates space for the new.
- 2:16Without it, nothing can start. Today, at midnight, 2025 ends.
- 2:22That's not sad. That's necessary.
- 2:25It makes room for what's next. Today, honor both sides of
- 2:29Seneca's wisdom. Honor the ending and the
- 2:33beginning. Reflect on 2025.
- 2:36What happened? What did you learn?
- 2:40Who did you become? Thank the year for its lessons,
- 2:43its challenges, its gifts. Then let it go.
- 2:48Say goodbye and Createspace. Tomorrow, 2026 begins.
- 2:54It can't start until tonight ends.
- 2:57So when midnight comes, mark the moment.
- 3:01Count it down, celebrate, raise a toast.
- 3:05Welcome the new beginning. That's only possible because
- 3:08another beginning has ended. Seneca was right.
- 3:12Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings.
- 3:14End tonight you get to witness both the ending that makes the
- 3:20beginning possible. Happy New Year's Eve, honor the
- 3:25end, prepare for the beginning because they're the same thing.
- 3:29That's going to do it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off
- 3:33for now, but I'll be back next year.
- 3:37Same pod time, same pod station with another daily quote.
