- 0:26Speaker 3: Kilowatts of power.
- 1:00Speaker 2: What's up and.
- 1:08Speaker 5: Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I am Brian.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I am Misty. I am Marlena.
- 1:13Speaker 5: And we're back for the third annual Easter Eggstravaganza. Pun intended. Anyway,
- 1:19Speaker 5: so we'll get it underway in our usual holiday fashion.
- 1:23Speaker 6: Uh-oh.
- 1:24Speaker 5: Well, first of all, even if we're not at home,
- 1:26Speaker 5: we have to have the bowl.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Ghost bowl.
- 1:29Speaker 5: The ghost-shaped bowl for all holiday food items.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I forgot we're having candy. I wouldn't have eaten so
- 1:34Speaker 1: much pizza.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Nah, suck it.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I can still eat candy. That's part of the plan.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I have, like, a bottomless pit today. I can eat everything.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I can go home and eat a whole cake. I'm
- 1:43Speaker 1: pretty sure I'm going to do that.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:45Speaker 7: Oh, you know, I meant to bring a red velvet
- 1:46Speaker 7: cake because I have an extra one.
- 1:47Speaker 5: I decided this is still fitting because it's the Holy Ghost.
- 1:51Speaker 5: If you care about the religious aspect, it's the Holy Ghost.
- 1:55Speaker 5: It says boo on it.
- 1:58Speaker 8: Yay.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I love Kit Kats.
- 2:00Speaker 7: Yay.
- 2:00Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Are we going to, like, say a word?
- 2:04Speaker 5: It would be the holiday without Mickey Mouse.
- 2:07Speaker 10: Yay.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I know they're not.
- 2:08Speaker 5: The big ones, but you can live with it.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I have something like two years ago still in the refrigerator.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I'm really going to feel like crap tomorrow. Me too.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'll probably end up throwing up by the time we're
- 2:17Speaker 1: done with this.
- 2:18Speaker 5: You say that every episode. Way too much crazy food.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I know, and I actually end up feeling a little
- 2:22Speaker 1: vomit afterwards.
- 2:24Speaker 5: It wouldn't be a holiday unless somebody was just feeling
- 2:26Speaker 5: very good.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I'm drinking a real Coke. That's weird.
- 2:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I told Brian he had to bring his own
- 2:32Speaker 6: drinks because I've got some Dr. Peppers, but I'm not
- 2:34Speaker 6: sharing because that's all it was real sugar, and they're
- 2:35Speaker 6: fucking limited edition.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't like that.
- 2:37Speaker 11: Which that seems nice since I just brought candy to
- 2:40Speaker 11: share with everyone.
- 2:41Speaker 1: But these are limited edition.
- 2:42Speaker 5: Uh-huh. So are these. They're only available during the holidays.
- 2:46Speaker 1: You can get them every other holiday, though.
- 2:47Speaker 5: Look at those pastel colors. You can't get those any other.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Time of year.
- 2:49Speaker 5: That's true.
- 2:50Speaker 7: You can't get these pastel purple Kit Kats. On an
- 2:54Speaker 7: unrelated note, I now have enough pastel nail polish to
- 2:57Speaker 7: paint every fingernail a different color because I'm kind of
- 2:59Speaker 7: obsessed with nail polish.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Okay. Just remember, Dexter. Anyway.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Dexter. Never mind.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Never mind. You'll find out the hard way. So, yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 5: it is time for... No pouting.
- 3:16Speaker 1: No pouting on Easter? This is about Easter. We're having
- 3:20Speaker 1: Easter cake. It is Easter.
- 3:21Speaker 5: It's the Easter holiday special. Yay. Somewhere there's a beagle dancing.
- 3:27Speaker 11: Anyway, so, in our usual fashion, I've decided, you know,
- 3:31Speaker 11: we come up with many ridiculous things that we try
- 3:33Speaker 11: to do whilst we're recording the show. I think it
- 3:36Speaker 11: adds something to it.
- 3:38Speaker 5: Good or bad, that's arguable. But I still think it
- 3:40Speaker 5: adds some sort of character to it. So.
- 3:42Speaker 11: I decided this time we need to bust out the
- 3:45Speaker 11: old school pause Easter egg kit and start dying some
- 3:49Speaker 11: Easter eggs.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yay, I'm so excited. I don't think I've ever died
- 3:53Speaker 1: Easter eggs.
- 3:54Speaker 5: Really? What the hell is wrong with you?
- 3:55Speaker 1: Many, many things. I might have, but I don't remember.
- 3:58Speaker 1: We usually do the plastic ones.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Pause. It's the way of the future. So we didn't
- 4:04Speaker 5: figure this whole deal out.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I did that one year when I was a kid.
- 4:07Speaker 1: We found an egg in the yard that had been
- 4:08Speaker 1: there for several years. We quit hiding real eggs. And
- 4:11Speaker 1: we used to use the plastic list, and my grandma
- 4:13Speaker 1: used to put change in them.
- 4:14Speaker 7: Ooh, yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 5: She put, like, real money in them for a while.
- 4:17Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 4:18Speaker 5: With, like, dollar bills and shit involved.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but I was the one hiding the eggs. So
- 4:22Speaker 1: do you think we really ever made it in the yard?
- 4:24Speaker 5: I wouldn't put that past you.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I love my grandma. Grandma's awesome.
- 4:29Speaker 5: She is pretty awesome.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Even though she has a dog now, and she carries
- 4:32Speaker 1: it around in her purse.
- 4:33Speaker 5: She's a Paris.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I have chocolate right here.
- 4:36Speaker 6: Oh.
- 4:37Speaker 1: This is my chocolate mustache.
- 4:40Speaker 5: That's how you know it's a holiday. Chocolate on your face.
- 4:43Speaker 5: We have to figure out instructions and stuff.
- 4:46Speaker 6: Words.
- 4:48Speaker 5: Let's see. Three tablespoons. Wait, tablespoons? Oh, man.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I'm going to measure.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Do you have a table?
- 4:56Speaker 1: Oh, hell yeah, bitches.
- 4:57Speaker 2: We're at my house.
- 4:58Speaker 5: I got shit. You got, like, your own cooking show
- 5:01Speaker 5: and shit.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna go somewhere. Oh!
- 5:07Speaker 5: Ooh!
- 5:08Speaker 8: You're all fancy.
- 5:09Speaker 5: It's like Martha Stewart all over your house.
- 5:12Speaker 6: I know.
- 5:13Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 5:14Speaker 5: We are at the Bastion of Awesomeness, by the way.
- 5:18Speaker 5: I'm in the middle of, and everybody will be excited,
- 5:21Speaker 5: actually painting. I have now suckered, uh, Oh, well, I've
- 5:24Speaker 5: guilted family members into helping because I wasn't going to
- 5:26Speaker 5: do it myself. And I was right. It's taken, like,
- 5:30Speaker 5: days and days with a good four people working out. Hey,
- 5:34Speaker 5: do you think they can come over and help me afterwards?
- 5:36Speaker 5: I don't know if he's got enough guilt to come over.
- 5:39Speaker 5: They're already so sick of it. I don't know if
- 5:40Speaker 5: they'll talk to me after this. Yeah, so eventually.
- 5:44Speaker 1: That's why I'm not painting your house this time.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Yeah, you said. But possibly.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I painted the last house.
- 5:50Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 5: He did, actually, so I'll give you that one. I'll
- 5:54Speaker 5: do the trim.
- 5:55Speaker 1: That trim fucking sucks.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Yeah, the trim sucks right now. Let me tell you,
- 5:57Speaker 5: that's what I worked on all day yesterday.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Yeah, trim's the worst.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Trim blows.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I just start painting a room and never finish it.
- 6:04Speaker 1: That's my MO.
- 6:04Speaker 5: That's been the last year for mine.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I just live with really ugly wallpaper.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Next time we appear at the actual studio, it will
- 6:12Speaker 5: be time to christen it in its new form. It
- 6:16Speaker 5: should actually be somewhat finished already. It's pretty exciting.
- 6:19Speaker 7: And then we can chip in to slowly get you
- 6:22Speaker 7: central heating and air.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Go for it. There's heating, for God's sake. I'm not
- 6:27Speaker 5: that poor.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Well, it didn't feel like there was heating last year.
- 6:30Speaker 5: Well, that's because it was broken, but now it works.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Now it works in the summertime.
- 6:33Speaker 5: Now that it's warm out. Okay, so we need three
- 6:37Speaker 5: tablespoons of... How much was a tablespoon? This name brand
- 6:41Speaker 5: that I'm not plugging.
- 6:42Speaker 1: But it has a little spoon that says, just a pinch.
- 6:47Speaker 11: I don't think that's an official measurement. But I do
- 6:51Speaker 11: like that this vinegar says got eggs on it.
- 6:53Speaker 1: It is pretty awesome.
- 6:54Speaker 5: They're all partnered up with Paws. I am plugging Paws
- 6:57Speaker 5: because it's awesome. It's half of my childhood, so I'll
- 6:59Speaker 5: plug them regardless.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It's a tablespoon. It's a TV, right?
- 7:04Speaker 5: Martha Stewart. Martha Stewart, everybody.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Where did those cups go?
- 7:08Speaker 6: Cups.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Cups, cups, cups. I'm excited. Yay.
- 7:11Speaker 5: We won't keep the cups, though.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Are the eggs going to fit in here?
- 7:15Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the whole thing.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Two tablespoons? Three tablespoons?
- 7:19Speaker 5: That's not deep enough for egg dunking.
- 7:21Speaker 1: It's kind of rolled in there.
- 7:23Speaker 5: You roll it.
- 7:24Speaker 1: How many did it say?
- 7:25Speaker 12: Three?
- 7:25Speaker 5: Three.
- 7:27Speaker 7: That's more than you think, though.
- 7:29Speaker 5: Rolling with the home.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I love during this, so I don't care what any
- 7:33Speaker 1: of you say.
- 7:35Speaker 5: I still remember being deeper.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I kind of do, too. I mean, I think you
- 7:41Speaker 1: should add water if you want on pastel. I don't
- 7:43Speaker 1: want pastel.
- 7:44Speaker 5: Okay, just, let's do, like, part of them with water
- 7:47Speaker 5: and part of them with not. Okay.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Well, then there's, you can get traditional, but we have
- 7:50Speaker 1: to add lemon juice in this shit. I ain't got
- 7:52Speaker 1: no damn lemon juice. Uh, you know what? We don't
- 7:54Speaker 1: need to measure this.
- 7:54Speaker 5: This is stupid.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I mean.
- 7:58Speaker 13: I see.
- 7:58Speaker 5: It's not gonna. That is kind of how we roll.
- 8:00Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Uh, you know, even with.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Reading.
- 8:02Speaker 7: It's, it's funny because, like, I bake a lot, even
- 8:05Speaker 7: with baking.
- 8:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Like, I ran out of flour and sugar yesterday. Oh,
- 8:09Speaker 1: I do have the pink ones. I see a little
- 8:10Speaker 1: bit less.
- 8:10Speaker 8: It's okay.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Do we want pink when hardcore?
- 8:13Speaker 6: Well, it says, let's see, for the pink dye tablet,
- 8:15Speaker 6: use water method to achieve the brightest pink color.
- 8:18Speaker 5: Mm, go throw some water in.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Tail shoe. Yeah, cup. Use some vinegar.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Use some vinegars. God, I hate vinegar.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I've had to bathe in vinegar once. Ugh, it's so gross.
- 8:33Speaker 5: I remember as a kid.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Oh, God, that smelled like ass.
- 8:37Speaker 5: As a kid, we were playing, like, I don't know,
- 8:39Speaker 5: some sort of spy game or something.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It gets all fizzy.
- 8:41Speaker 6: I want a pink one.
- 8:42Speaker 5: I want a pink one.
- 8:43Speaker 11: And we had a rag soaked in vinegar that we
- 8:45Speaker 11: were pretending, like, was chloroform so that we could take
- 8:48Speaker 11: the other kids down.
- 8:48Speaker 5: This is why I will be locked up at some point.
- 8:53Speaker 5: This one's kind of pink looking. You want that one instead?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Is that pink or is that red?
- 8:57Speaker 5: Or do they have a red? Do both of them.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I like that they get all fizzy like an Alka-Seltzer tablet.
- 9:01Speaker 5: We'll probably need paper towels the way we're going. There's vinegar.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I probably didn't measure that properly. It's okay.
- 9:09Speaker 5: That's been measured properly.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Where'd the pink one go? Right here. Oh.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Don't eat it.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Don't eat it. I can't get it out, damn it.
- 9:19Speaker 1: There's green.
- 9:20Speaker 15: See, there's green.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I would not have expected that one to be the
- 9:21Speaker 1: green one. It looks like absinthe.
- 9:24Speaker 5: Drink it. you'll see a green fairy how.
- 9:28Speaker 7: Dare one of you to drink this it's not going
- 9:30Speaker 7: to be misty I know that much I don't.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Know she loves vinegar vinegar is so disgusting.
- 9:36Speaker 5: Don't lose the crayon we need that I know do
- 9:39Speaker 5: you have any rubber bands I'm aware of what because
- 9:43Speaker 5: it's fun to make tie-dye eggs do you have damn
- 9:45Speaker 5: hippies I don't know hippie eggs I don't think I
- 9:47Speaker 5: ever thought about.
- 9:48Speaker 7: That why are there so many blues it likes blue
- 9:51Speaker 7: it's a pretty color there's.
- 9:52Speaker 1: A rubber band I love to eat it Oh, God,
- 9:56Speaker 1: that stinks so bad. Welcome to your childhood. I didn't
- 10:01Speaker 1: have this childhood.
- 10:01Speaker 5: We're starting it now.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Yeah, we didn't do this. We had the plastic.
- 10:07Speaker 6: I love the plastic ones where you dip it and
- 10:08Speaker 6: it goes and it sucks to the egg.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Oh, my God, I fucking love those. Does it really?
- 10:15Speaker 13: Yep.
- 10:17Speaker 5: Go boil some water.
- 10:19Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Where's the turtle?
- 10:22Speaker 5: He was my favorite.
- 10:22Speaker 11: Even before I said, I like turtles all the time.
- 10:26Speaker 11: I like the little turtle guy that was always on there.
- 10:29Speaker 5: There he is.
- 10:30Speaker 7: Terrence.
- 10:31Speaker 1: He's got a head on. How cool is he?
- 10:35Speaker 5: I found the stickers.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I like stickers. Is there a turtle sticker? There's no
- 10:40Speaker 1: turtle sticker. Oh, there's a monkey and a rocket ship. Alright,
- 10:47Speaker 1: we're ready to dye the hell.
- 10:47Speaker 6: Out of these damn eggs.
- 10:50Speaker 5: I did pop the circles out of the box and
- 10:51Speaker 5: we now have an egg depository. Yay.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Look how lovely those Easter eggs are.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Ours are not going to look like that. Not so much.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Is there only one egg dipper?
- 11:02Speaker 9: I think so.
- 11:03Speaker 5: It's an egg dipper burr kit. So, we'll buy more kits.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, who wants to start? I'm going to do a
- 11:09Speaker 1: pink one.
- 11:10Speaker 5: This, he's never done it before. This is her, like,
- 11:12Speaker 5: inaugural egg dipping.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I know, I'm so excited. I just, like, You can
- 11:16Speaker 1: just dip half and have a two-toned egg. It's amazing.
- 11:20Speaker 5: That's pretty exciting. The longer you let it sit, the
- 11:24Speaker 5: more darker it gets.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'm going to let it sit.
- 11:31Speaker 5: Then you can drop them in there.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I'll fish it back out.
- 11:34Speaker 2: I know.
- 11:35Speaker 5: I'm just saying if you let go. It's getting all spotty.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I'm just going to let it sit in there for
- 11:40Speaker 1: a minute. Hold up. They don't normally do that. I
- 11:44Speaker 1: guess the layer of skin on top, it's making them
- 11:46Speaker 1: all weird.
- 11:47Speaker 5: That'll just make it more festive when you're done. It'll
- 11:50Speaker 5: have spots on it.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Ooh, watch, watch, watch. It pushes it up as you do.
- 11:53Speaker 1: It kind of goes away with it. Ooh, it comes back. Ooh,
- 11:56Speaker 1: that's so weird. Look how vibrant my egg is.
- 12:00Speaker 16: It's beautiful.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Mine's not. Mine's splotchy, but I don't think it has
- 12:06Speaker 1: the mange. It's pretty cool, though.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Look at it. Oh, no.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I didn't want that to happen. I'm going to leave
- 12:16Speaker 1: it in there for a little bit longer. Look how
- 12:20Speaker 1: beautiful this turned out.
- 12:22Speaker 5: So while we're dying eggs, let's start the geek week.
- 12:25Speaker 5: You guys go first.
- 12:27Speaker 1: You can't really expect us to multitask like that, can you?
- 12:31Speaker 6: Yes. All right, well, my eggs are now in the stuff,
- 12:34Speaker 6: so I'll talk. I watched a shitload of Sean Patrick
- 12:37Speaker 6: Flannery movies. I will start with what I watched first.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Is this because you were hanging out with him last
- 12:42Speaker 5: week because you're so cool like that?
- 12:43Speaker 6: Yeah, he's my new biggest celebrity crush, but don't tell Corey.
- 12:46Speaker 6: Corey's still my favorite, and I love him the most,
- 12:47Speaker 6: but right now, I mean, John Patrick Flannery's just a crush.
- 12:50Speaker 6: It probably won't last long. I watched The Insatiable, which sucked.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Is that the one with the demon?
- 12:57Speaker 1: No, that's the vampire. Okay.
- 12:58Speaker 7: Okay.
- 12:59Speaker 1: It's a vampire.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Sean Patrick Flannery plays this really nerdy, office-y kind of
- 13:02Speaker 6: guy who's just a fucking loser by all means.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Anyways, he's walking down.
- 13:05Speaker 6: He walks past Nellie one night and sees this guy
- 13:07Speaker 6: getting his fucking throat torn out by this vampire chick.
- 13:11Speaker 6: And she runs off and tears the guy's head off.
- 13:13Speaker 6: And Sean Patrick Flannery's like, ooh, I must kill this girl.
- 13:16Speaker 6: And then he decides he can't kill this girl because
- 13:17Speaker 6: he's kind of a weenie. So he just traps her
- 13:19Speaker 6: in his basement in a cage. And then he falls
- 13:21Speaker 6: in love with her.
- 13:22Speaker 7: Oh, no.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Yeah, so whatever. Whatever.
- 13:25Speaker 6: I mean, it was kind of lame. Then I watched
- 13:27Speaker 6: The Damn Thing, which is kind of, I guess, one
- 13:29Speaker 6: of the Masters of Horror segment things or whatever. Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 6: And it's got him playing a sheriff, and apparently his
- 13:35Speaker 6: parents or his relatives at some point pissed off this
- 13:37Speaker 6: big fucking oil tar monster. I'm not really sure what
- 13:40Speaker 6: the hell it was. Anyways, it comes after him to
- 13:42Speaker 6: kill him.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Do you hate when that happens?
- 13:44Speaker 7: I do.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I fucking hate when that happens. And then I watched Call,
- 13:47Speaker 1: which was probably the fucking worst. Call. That's pretty bad. Yeah,
- 13:51Speaker 1: it's pretty bad. It's kind of like The Birds, but not.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Except the suck.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 6: These birds attack this town, and they make a point
- 13:59Speaker 6: to tell you that they are ravens, they are not crows.
- 14:01Speaker 6: And then they make a point that the Mennonites, they
- 14:05Speaker 6: tell you, they make sure you know it's the Mennonites,
- 14:06Speaker 6: not the Amish, that had these cows, and then the
- 14:10Speaker 6: cows got mad cow disease, and then the ravens ate
- 14:12Speaker 6: the cows.
- 14:13Speaker 12: And yeah.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Because ravens eat cows?
- 14:15Speaker 1: They were dead.
- 14:15Speaker 6: Okay.
- 14:16Speaker 5: So yeah, then the ravens start killing people. I thought
- 14:18Speaker 5: those were like vultures and.
- 14:20Speaker 6: Well, because they got the mad cow disease. Like, that's
- 14:22Speaker 6: supposed to make them mad raven disease. Which Boyfriend's reply was, well,
- 14:25Speaker 6: that's just so raven.
- 14:27Speaker 13: Oh.
- 14:30Speaker 5: I guess we still claim him after that.
- 14:32Speaker 1: That's so raven.
- 14:33Speaker 5: I did say eggs. You're special.
- 14:37Speaker 6: All right, and then after Call, I watched Savage Planet,
- 14:41Speaker 6: which was probably one of the better ones of the
- 14:43Speaker 6: ones I watched in my extravaganza of Sean Patrick Flanner.
- 14:46Speaker 6: It was.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Savage Planet.
- 14:48Speaker 6: It's pretty much him walking around saying lines that sound
- 14:50Speaker 6: like they were overdubbed by Nathan Fillion the entire fucking movie.
- 14:53Speaker 6: The lines sound like they were written for Nathan Fillion.
- 14:55Speaker 6: I think at some point he's even wearing a Nathan
- 14:57Speaker 6: Fillion type outfit from like Fireflies.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it looks just like it's okay. They're big monster bears.
- 15:04Speaker 5: It's a big wannabe Firefly.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yeah, anyways, they're bears.
- 15:10Speaker 5: Space bears.
- 15:11Speaker 1: On a different planet where there's bears.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Space bears.
- 15:13Speaker 1: They're huge. They're ginormous fucking bears.
- 15:15Speaker 5: Space podiac.
- 15:17Speaker 1: And then I watched... God, what else did I watch? Oh,
- 15:23Speaker 1: I guess, shit, I watched Girl first. I fucking love
- 15:25Speaker 1: that movie.
- 15:26Speaker 5: Girl's awesome.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I actually like Girl. I love the hell out of
- 15:28Speaker 1: that movie. Girl was awesome. I fucking love that movie.
- 15:30Speaker 5: That's back when he did, like, normal movies, not his special, like,
- 15:33Speaker 5: sci-fi-esque movies that he specializes in now.
- 15:37Speaker 1: He's so gorgeous in that movie. He plays a rock star.
- 15:39Speaker 1: He's just an ass.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Girl's a good movie.
- 15:41Speaker 6: And it's got, what's her name, Dominic Swain in it.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Dominic Swain is awesome. And Portia de Rossi and Selma Blair.
- 15:47Speaker 6: It's just, it's an awesome movie, and he's just, he
- 15:49Speaker 6: plays the fucking rock star, and he's so fucking gorgeous.
- 15:53Speaker 6: But then I watched Demon Hunter, because it's on Netflix.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Watch it now.
- 15:59Speaker 5: So that might be the one I was.
- 16:01Speaker 6: Yeah, he's... Actually, it was fun.
- 16:04Speaker 1: It's tolerable. Yeah, he plays a guy who just hunts demons.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the one I saw part of on cable
- 16:10Speaker 5: right before we left to go see him, and I
- 16:12Speaker 5: was just like, wow, this is a pretty bad movie.
- 16:14Speaker 1: But it was at least entertaining.
- 16:15Speaker 5: Yeah, it seemed like it was.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Oh, it wasn't even entertaining.
- 16:18Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 5: It seemed like it was a fun cable watch at
- 16:21Speaker 5: like 11.30 because, you know, it's Friday night and you
- 16:23Speaker 5: have nothing else to do. Oh, wait, maybe that's just me.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Either way, though, yeah, it seemed like it could have
- 16:28Speaker 5: been a fun, cheesy movie.
- 16:30Speaker 6: Well, yeah, well, Jay went to bed at like 9.30
- 16:31Speaker 6: last night, so I was up late last night watching television.
- 16:35Speaker 6: So I watched that, and then I watched Ten Inch Hero,
- 16:39Speaker 6: which was not quite as pornographic.
- 16:40Speaker 1: As I thought it might be.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Yeah, you would think, wouldn't you?
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, but it was not. Aw, I missed his awesome egg.
- 16:46Speaker 1: It did not turn out as awesome as I anticipated.
- 16:50Speaker 6: But Tenichiro is about, I guess he's kind of a
- 16:53Speaker 6: main character. He's the guy that the chick from Point
- 16:56Speaker 6: Pleasant falls in love with.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Sort of, but not really. It's complicated. She thinks his
- 17:01Speaker 1: kid might be hers, but it turns out it's not.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I just spoiled it for you if you haven't seen
- 17:05Speaker 1: it yet. She thinks his kid might be hers? Well,
- 17:07Speaker 1: she gave her kid up for adoption.
- 17:08Speaker 6: Because she had her kid when she was 15, so
- 17:10Speaker 6: apparently she was a slut.
- 17:13Speaker 1: So her parents made her give it up.
- 17:16Speaker 5: Oh, oh, oh.
- 17:17Speaker 6: But then it has Jensen Eccles in it. He has
- 17:21Speaker 6: a mohawk almost the entire time, so you can't tell
- 17:23Speaker 6: how freakishly small his forehead really is. And it's got
- 17:26Speaker 6: John Doe in it.
- 17:27Speaker 5: John Doe is cool.
- 17:29Speaker 17: And.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Clea Duvall, is that her name?
- 17:31Speaker 5: Clea, yeah.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And it's got.
- 17:34Speaker 6: That one chick from One Tree Hill who came on
- 17:37Speaker 6: the show and she was a bitch.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I can't remember her name.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Yeah, the one that was on every, like, stupid.
- 17:42Speaker 6: Her name was Danelle Harris in real life. She ended
- 17:44Speaker 6: up marrying Jensen Eccles.
- 17:46Speaker 1: In real life? Yeah.
- 17:47Speaker 2: IRL?
- 17:47Speaker 1: She was a bitch on the show.
- 17:48Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying.
- 17:49Speaker 11: She's, like, she went through this run, if it's the
- 17:51Speaker 11: one I'm thinking of, that she was on every show, like, every, specifically, like,
- 17:56Speaker 11: hour-long dramas on cheesy cable networks, that, like, they brought
- 18:01Speaker 11: her in as, like, the new character, and she was
- 18:03Speaker 11: a bitch on every one. Like, she played the exact
- 18:06Speaker 11: same character every time.
- 18:08Speaker 6: Yes.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Oh, is my egg still wet? But it was, I
- 18:13Speaker 1: think Tenet Tree, it was a nice movie. It was,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I guess, it was nice.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Nice.
- 18:20Speaker 5: I didn't hate it.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I didn't hate it.
- 18:23Speaker 6: It was better than Call. It was a love story,
- 18:27Speaker 6: which usually it's, I'm like, whatever, it's fucking lame. It's
- 18:30Speaker 6: kind of a chick movie, but I enjoyed it somewhat,
- 18:33Speaker 6: mostly because it's got Sean Patrick Flannery kind of being
- 18:35Speaker 6: a dork, and at some point he's running on the
- 18:36Speaker 6: beach going, Call!
- 18:38Speaker 1: So I think it's kind of a throwback to Caw.
- 18:40Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the wrong movie, isn't it?
- 18:41Speaker 7: I don't know who's running on the beach yelling, Caw, Caw,
- 18:44Speaker 7: and not in the movie.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Watch my other movie!
- 18:45Speaker 5: Watch my other movie!
- 18:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it was fun. I enjoyed it. He was hot.
- 18:50Speaker 1: He didn't have his shirt off near enough in any
- 18:51Speaker 1: of these movies. Damn it to hell.
- 18:53Speaker 5: Please. Why didn't you tell him that last time you came?
- 18:55Speaker 1: Dude, I should have.
- 18:56Speaker 6: Except for now, I'm not really sure I want to
- 18:57Speaker 6: see it as much.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Oh, that's true.
- 18:59Speaker 6: He needs to go back in time and be more fearless.
- 19:01Speaker 1: He needs to go back in time and take off
- 19:03Speaker 1: his shirt. Dude, seriously. He was a gorgeous man. He
- 19:06Speaker 1: still is, even with his duck face. I don't care.
- 19:09Speaker 1: His duck face is hot. I don't care. Screw you guys.
- 19:14Speaker 1: All right, I'm done. That's all I have. Okay, me?
- 19:18Speaker 7: Well, I'll talk about my themed movies that I watched unintentionally.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Last night I watched Mermaids, which I love. It's a
- 19:26Speaker 1: really good movie.
- 19:26Speaker 5: Mermaids is a good movie.
- 19:28Speaker 7: Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci, they're so adorable. And even Cher.
- 19:33Speaker 5: She's not Cher adorable? Yeah, you don't want to smack
- 19:35Speaker 5: her like normal.
- 19:35Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I forgot that Cher used to be
- 19:38Speaker 7: a mega babe in her day, and I forget that
- 19:40Speaker 7: because I think of Cher and I think of creepy,
- 19:42Speaker 7: like overly plastic surgery kind.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Of, and that scares me. But she was a babe,
- 19:48Speaker 1: and her clothes were really cute. in Mermaids, and I
- 19:50Speaker 1: liked it a lot.
- 19:51Speaker 7: And I was like doing five other things while watching it,
- 19:55Speaker 7: so I didn't pay that much attention to it. I
- 19:58Speaker 7: also watched Burlesque because we went to rent.
- 20:03Speaker 5: I'm going to have to watch it eventually.
- 20:05Speaker 1: We went to rent. Black Swan, but they didn't have it.
- 20:08Speaker 5: So the polar opposite is burlesque.
- 20:11Speaker 1: It's still a movie about dancing.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Kind of.
- 20:16Speaker 7: Speaking of Black Swan, did you know Winona Ryder's in
- 20:19Speaker 7: Black Swan?
- 20:20Speaker 5: I think I remember mentioning. She turns up in the
- 20:24Speaker 5: weirdest places now. It's like last year in the middle
- 20:27Speaker 5: of Star Trek. I'm like, wait, what? What the hell's
- 20:30Speaker 5: going on here?
- 20:31Speaker 1: Burlesque Uh, yeah, it was pretty terrible.
- 20:38Speaker 7: I actually enjoyed it the first time around when it
- 20:40Speaker 7: was called Coyote Ugly because it's the exact same fucking plot.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Um, so it's not the exact same fucking plot as Showgirls?
- 20:48Speaker 7: Well, I've never seen Showgirls, so maybe it's like an
- 20:51Speaker 7: amalgam of Showgirls and Coyote Ugly put together.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Because, yeah, that's what everybody said.
- 20:55Speaker 11: It's like, Showgirls was at least fun in the badness
- 20:58Speaker 11: of it, whereas, like, Verlust just doesn't even embrace how
- 21:02Speaker 11: bad it is.
- 21:03Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 21:03Speaker 5: It takes itself.
- 21:04Speaker 11: Not even, like, that's the thing. Showgirls takes itself seriously,
- 21:07Speaker 11: and that's why it's awesome. Like, burlesque is just bad
- 21:10Speaker 11: and not even fun.
- 21:11Speaker 7: I mean, I think you should watch it just because
- 21:12Speaker 7: you love Kristen Bell and Kristen.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Dina, what's her face? Is it molting?
- 21:18Speaker 7: I don't know, but it looked really good before I
- 21:20Speaker 7: put it in there a second time. Now it's, like,
- 21:22Speaker 7: spotty and crusty.
- 21:23Speaker 1: This gives it character. I want to dip this in water.
- 21:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 5: Christina's weird now. She's losing me.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Yeah, she's got a weird face now.
- 21:31Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 21:32Speaker 5: And I don't, at first I thought it was weird surgery.
- 21:34Speaker 11: I think she just, like, I think her weight has
- 21:37Speaker 11: fluctuated so much that it's taking its toll on her.
- 21:40Speaker 5: She's weird looking now.
- 21:41Speaker 7: This is making, why is it getting all crusty?
- 21:43Speaker 5: It's good for it.
- 21:45Speaker 1: My eggs are crusty.
- 21:46Speaker 5: Sounds like something you see at the doctor.
- 21:52Speaker 7: But your eggs are getting crusty too.
- 21:55Speaker 5: I like it. It looks like a dinosaur egg.
- 22:01Speaker 1: What was I saying? Oh, that's pretty. It turned purple.
- 22:05Speaker 5: That's cool. That was really funny.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Kristen Bell and Galera. Christina Aguilera. Very cute. Earl's, normally.
- 22:18Speaker 7: Not Christina What's-Her-Face anymore so much, but.
- 22:21Speaker 5: She used to be back in the day. Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 7: But, um.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Yeah, don't waste your time on that. Should I boil
- 22:27Speaker 1: some water so we can put the wrappers on them?
- 22:29Speaker 5: We've still got a few, right?
- 22:30Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 22:31Speaker 1: There's four.
- 22:31Speaker 5: Okay.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I want to put wrappers on them.
- 22:34Speaker 5: We're going to do wrapper eggs, too.
- 22:35Speaker 6: All right.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Our eggs are going to be wrappers. Should be big enough, right?
- 22:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 5: You just got to dunk it, so fill it up
- 22:42Speaker 5: most of the way, so you can submerge your egg I.
- 22:45Speaker 7: Don't really have that much to say about mine.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Mermaids was good. Brusque was not good. I watched more movies,
- 22:54Speaker 1: but I watched them with Jay, so.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:56Speaker 6: I figured I watched enough Tom Hedrick's Flannery. Yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 7: I did watch, I mean, since we're trying to keep
- 23:00Speaker 7: it short, I did watch other movies like Ginger Snaps
- 23:02Speaker 7: and Toy Story 3, but.
- 23:03Speaker 1: That's the same category as me. Mm-hmm.
- 23:07Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly. Is there only three egg wrappers?
- 23:13Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 23:13Speaker 5: There's like a whole little sheet. Somewhere over here.
- 23:16Speaker 1: What do they look like? All these things?
- 23:19Speaker 7: Oh.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know.
- 23:24Speaker 5: You're having egg problems?
- 23:25Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 23:27Speaker 1: My eggs are falling out.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Once again, that seems like a problem.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I just don't understand why they got all crusty. I mean,
- 23:35Speaker 1: my yellow and orange ones.
- 23:36Speaker 5: We didn't actually follow the directions. We completely disregarded the
- 23:39Speaker 5: readings and the measurements and anything else technical that might
- 23:43Speaker 5: have kept the crustiness from taking place.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Oh, well, it's the process. That's so fun. Kind of.
- 23:50Speaker 1: This is awesome, too. You can kind of read it.
- 23:53Speaker 5: You didn't even write it. It just said that when
- 23:54Speaker 5: you put it in there.
- 23:55Speaker 9: It knows.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I'm excited.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I love it. This is what I grew up with.
- 24:01Speaker 1: We had dippy things.
- 24:02Speaker 11: Dippy things are fun only because they do the weird
- 24:05Speaker 11: sucky thing at the last minute.
- 24:06Speaker 5: But it doesn't involve all the cups and dyes and
- 24:10Speaker 5: ridiculous process.
- 24:11Speaker 1: That goes on.
- 24:12Speaker 7: This was a good photo op.
- 24:13Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. It's a lot of fun. So
- 24:16Speaker 5: with my geek week, I was waiting to see if
- 24:18Speaker 5: we'd see Greg. Who knows?
- 24:20Speaker 11: Because we actually shared a geek week last night. We
- 24:23Speaker 11: decided to go to see... Did you share a moment? Um,
- 24:27Speaker 11: we shared like two hours in the parking lot, just rambling,
- 24:30Speaker 11: not even talking about that movie. We just got our
- 24:33Speaker 11: usual sidetracked yammering on like we do. But, um, yeah,
- 24:37Speaker 11: we decided to go see Hannah, which, um, yeah, I
- 24:40Speaker 11: was considering doing a whole.
- 24:42Speaker 5: Little discussion on it, but I don't know. I got done.
- 24:44Speaker 11: I was just like, I don't even know how much
- 24:47Speaker 11: to say. So I won't even spoil anything for anybody really.
- 24:50Speaker 11: Cause I think it's just, I don't know. I don't
- 24:54Speaker 11: know how to go into most of it. It's pretty
- 24:57Speaker 11: straightforward if you've.
- 24:58Speaker 5: Seen the trailer.
- 24:59Speaker 11: But it's pretty well done as well. It's like, um,
- 25:02Speaker 11: I was checking. Yeah, if you got places.
- 25:06Speaker 1: It's like, you're flaky.
- 25:09Speaker 6: Awesome.
- 25:10Speaker 5: It looks like a lizard. Lizard egg.
- 25:13Speaker 6: Awesome.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Oh, it's touching mine.
- 25:17Speaker 5: I like the lizard egg.
- 25:19Speaker 11: But yeah, the director on that is Joe Wright, who,
- 25:21Speaker 11: I mean, this is a movie about a young girl
- 25:25Speaker 11: basically trained to be an assassin. So it's like, it's
- 25:28Speaker 11: odd that his other movies are Pride and Prejudice and Atonement.
- 25:31Speaker 11: So it's a very proper director to give something like
- 25:35Speaker 11: this to. So I think it comes off a little
- 25:37Speaker 11: better because it's not done so cheesy. It's not done
- 25:40Speaker 11: as strictly an action movie. It's actually done sort of
- 25:43Speaker 11: as this character study and you follow this girl, this
- 25:46Speaker 11: like super young teenage girl that's like coming to terms
- 25:50Speaker 11: with the fact that she's become.
- 25:52Speaker 5: and trained as an assassin, basically.
- 25:54Speaker 11: She's starting to come into her own, and she's having
- 25:57Speaker 11: that growing up moment, so there's a whole lot of... Basically,
- 26:02Speaker 11: he takes her out in the woods to train her
- 26:03Speaker 11: to be an assassin. So it's kind of like if
- 26:06Speaker 11: Hit Girl was in the wilderness. It's pretty much the
- 26:09Speaker 11: same setup. It's a girl from birth, basically, trained to
- 26:12Speaker 11: be an assassin.
- 26:14Speaker 6: I love eggs in a wrapped in plastic bag.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I don't know if this is... It'll shrink up to
- 26:20Speaker 1: the bottom.
- 26:21Speaker 7: You've never rocked them before?
- 26:25Speaker 2: There you go.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Whoa!
- 26:25Speaker 1: That's crazy. That's insane.
- 26:30Speaker 5: Shrinky nicks. Dip in the egg. Oh, yeah.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I want to dip another one, too.
- 26:37Speaker 5: I think we're running out of eggs.
- 26:39Speaker 7: Do you want to dip this one?
- 26:42Speaker 1: I love eggs. Yay!
- 26:45Speaker 5: Our eggs are mostly dipped, except for the soaking ones.
- 26:49Speaker 5: But yeah, that's pretty much what it is. It's like,
- 26:52Speaker 5: what if Hit Girl was raised in the wilderness? It
- 26:55Speaker 5: takes this little girl from birth and teaches her how
- 26:57Speaker 5: to be an assassin. I mean, otherwise, performance-wise, it's really impressive.
- 27:01Speaker 5: It's just by the end, I didn't know what to
- 27:03Speaker 5: do with it.
- 27:03Speaker 11: Like, it was all pretty straightforward, and it kind of
- 27:06Speaker 11: went where you expected, and it's all very, like, most
- 27:10Speaker 11: of it's like... Got a weird European feel to it.
- 27:13Speaker 11: I mean, the whole thing is in Europe, but I mean,
- 27:15Speaker 11: it even feels movie-wise. And I don't know if it's
- 27:17Speaker 11: like the movie really feels this way or if it's
- 27:20Speaker 11: just me trying to apply my past foreign action type
- 27:25Speaker 11: movies onto it. Like, I'm sitting there at times being like,
- 27:27Speaker 11: that's kind of a little La Femme Nikita. And then
- 27:30Speaker 11: there's later, I'm like, that's kind of run Lola Run.
- 27:32Speaker 5: But I'm like, I don't know.
- 27:33Speaker 11: Maybe I'm just imposing my, what little limited foreign action
- 27:37Speaker 11: movies chick movies, I don't know, but there were times
- 27:41Speaker 11: that felt kind of like that, but not even, like, like,
- 27:43Speaker 11: ripping it off, just sort of reminiscent of it, like,
- 27:45Speaker 11: maybe it is, especially the film Nikita, I'm sure he, like,
- 27:48Speaker 11: did go into that with a little, uh, tribute in
- 27:51Speaker 11: mind on that one, but yeah, it's, it's definitely worth seeing,
- 27:53Speaker 11: I liked it visually, it's really impressive, I mean, he's, he's, again,
- 27:58Speaker 11: done some pretty impressive stuff visually in the past, so.
- 28:02Speaker 5: Yeah, it's kind of interesting.
- 28:03Speaker 11: It wraps up in a way that's a little too
- 28:06Speaker 11: played out at this point. They work in a story
- 28:09Speaker 11: angle towards the end that's, I don't know, something we've
- 28:13Speaker 11: seen a lot of in recent years. And everybody has, actually,
- 28:18Speaker 11: Eric Vanna's got an interesting accent. It's at least, like, solid.
- 28:23Speaker 11: It follows every time. It kind of sounds Austrian-ish. He
- 28:26Speaker 11: sounds sort of like Arnold the whole time. And then
- 28:30Speaker 11: our other... Well, I mean, the main girl. I still
- 28:32Speaker 11: can't pronounce her name.
- 28:34Speaker 1: That one chick.
- 28:35Speaker 6: Okay.
- 28:35Speaker 5: The female lead is actually really good and does... Again,
- 28:39Speaker 5: she shows so much promise because she goes into it very...
- 28:44Speaker 5: I don't know, just.
- 28:45Speaker 11: Very raw, the way that her performance comes off, which
- 28:48Speaker 11: is kind of what you would need to be with
- 28:49Speaker 11: this kid that is completely out of.
- 28:50Speaker 5: Touch with society. And it's, yeah, it's pretty well done.
- 28:54Speaker 5: But yeah, our other main... character is Kate Blanchard, who
- 28:59Speaker 5: has this weird accent, and it seems like it fluctuates.
- 29:03Speaker 1: That seems to happen with her lately.
- 29:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know what it is.
- 29:05Speaker 7: She's, like, such a good actress. I just don't understand
- 29:07Speaker 7: how she can't do accents.
- 29:09Speaker 11: I mean, she's still good in this, but there's times when,
- 29:11Speaker 11: I'm not even sure what it was supposed to be.
- 29:13Speaker 11: There's times when it came off almost very Texan, and
- 29:16Speaker 11: then there were other times where it was very minor.
- 29:19Speaker 5: I don't know. She just fluctuated quite a bit with
- 29:21Speaker 5: that accent. So I don't know what she was even
- 29:23Speaker 5: going for.
- 29:24Speaker 7: I've seen her do country accents really well.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Yeah, The Gift. She's amazing. And it's solid. That's the thing.
- 29:31Speaker 5: You could watch that and think she's from the South somewhere.
- 29:34Speaker 5: Not England.
- 29:35Speaker 11: So the fact that she can pull that off so
- 29:38Speaker 11: solid it makes no sense why this one is just
- 29:40Speaker 11: all over the place.
- 29:41Speaker 6: Whatever accent she had in the last indiana.
- 29:45Speaker 7: Her acting was so bad in that movie i was
- 29:47Speaker 7: like ashamed for her it's like you're an amazing oscar-winning
- 29:51Speaker 7: actress like you are one of the top actresses out
- 29:54Speaker 7: there like That.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Entire movie sucked. I think it sucked all the talent
- 29:57Speaker 1: out of her. Yeah, I think it did.
- 30:00Speaker 7: I think it just became such a ridiculous joke.
- 30:02Speaker 1: She was just like, I'm going to butcher this. I
- 30:03Speaker 1: don't even give a fuck.
- 30:04Speaker 5: I don't know. This one is not that. This one's
- 30:06Speaker 5: a lot of fun.
- 30:09Speaker 11: They meet this family on this little trip, and there's
- 30:11Speaker 11: this other little girl, this other teenage girl, that just
- 30:15Speaker 11: for that alone, her performance is fucking hilarious.
- 30:18Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, you'll end up having that be your favorite character.
- 30:21Speaker 5: She says some pretty crazy shit.
- 30:24Speaker 6: Sean Patrick Flannery said some pretty crazy shit in the
- 30:28Speaker 6: extravaganza movies that I watched him in.
- 30:31Speaker 5: Do you have specific favorite lines?
- 30:33Speaker 6: No, I don't know, because there's just so many of them.
- 30:36Speaker 6: I can't break it down to that level.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I think I just watched too many of them.
- 30:40Speaker 6: I watched four Sean Patrick Flannery movies yesterday alone.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Whoa.
- 30:44Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 5: You have a multicolored dyed egg that's also kind of dyed.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 30:54Speaker 15: Fancy.
- 30:55Speaker 5: So anything else for the Geek Week?
- 30:57Speaker 7: Nope.
- 30:58Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, Randy, The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones is
- 31:02Speaker 6: on Netflix, so I'm good.
- 31:03Speaker 1: You don't need to find that for me. We're all square.
- 31:05Speaker 5: Finding a copy of the DVD and purchasing it as
- 31:11Speaker 5: you were going to do for her.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I'm just saying, it's on Netflix.
- 31:14Speaker 5: So never mind. Yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 1: And honestly, this show seems kind of boring. Blasphemy.
- 31:21Speaker 6: But it's got Sean Patrick Flanagan, and he's young, and
- 31:23Speaker 6: his face moves all like normal, like a human being.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I almost didn't recognize him. Honestly, I think he's kind
- 31:29Speaker 1: of hotter now. I don't know.
- 31:30Speaker 5: I like that show, but that was just a good show,
- 31:34Speaker 5: I thought.
- 31:35Speaker 13: Anyways, it's on Netflix.
- 31:35Speaker 5: I think it's well put together.
- 31:37Speaker 1: The kid's ugly, though.
- 31:39Speaker 5: Which, the little kid?
- 31:39Speaker 6: The little kid.
- 31:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't get the, I didn't, at the time,
- 31:42Speaker 5: I didn't like the little kid episodes. I was like, eh,
- 31:44Speaker 5: get to the other guy. At least the stories are interesting. Like,
- 31:47Speaker 5: there's nothing that interesting that happens to little kids, you know?
- 31:49Speaker 1: The kids are stupid.
- 31:50Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like, you hit teenage years, you just have
- 31:52Speaker 5: adult adventures, and you're a teenager. But, like, you're a
- 31:54Speaker 5: little kid, and I don't know, it's rare that they
- 31:56Speaker 5: can pull off the same type of adventures. They're always, like,
- 32:00Speaker 5: very kiddified and different.
- 32:01Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 32:02Speaker 5: I always preferred the older version of him.
- 32:04Speaker 8: Anyway.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Me too, because it's got a Sean Patrick Flannery.
- 32:06Speaker 5: Even when I didn't know what his name was. And
- 32:07Speaker 5: I can't quit saying his name. Sean Patrick Flannery.
- 32:08Speaker 1: It's so fun to say.
- 32:09Speaker 5: What's his name?
- 32:10Speaker 1: Sean Patrick Flannery. It's not Juliana Magaliz.
- 32:13Speaker 8: Magaliz.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Juliana Magaliz.
- 32:15Speaker 6: Jake gets so annoyed at me, because whenever the commercial
- 32:17Speaker 6: for The Good Wife.
- 32:18Speaker 1: The Good Wife.
- 32:19Speaker 5: Which isn't a bad show, actually.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Whenever the commercial goes on, hey, baby, hey, baby, you
- 32:22Speaker 1: know who that is? You know who that is? He goes, no.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Who is it?
- 32:26Speaker 13: No.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Juliana Magaliz! Juliana Magaliz!
- 32:33Speaker 6: Wow.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Yeah, then he just gives me this look. Yeah.
- 32:37Speaker 6: Yep.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Juliana Magaliz. He knows it's coming every time.
- 32:43Speaker 5: He dreads it.
- 32:44Speaker 1: He does.
- 32:44Speaker 5: He sits and silently waits for it.
- 32:47Speaker 1: He does. He puts up with my shit. So, gotta listen.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Juliana Magaliz. Perfect Flannery's pretty fun, though. Go ahead.
- 32:59Speaker 16: Sorry.
- 33:00Speaker 1: I can't help it. I'm obsessed.
- 33:01Speaker 5: Antoine Fuqua.
- 33:02Speaker 14: There.
- 33:03Speaker 1: That's not as good.
- 33:04Speaker 6: Come on.
- 33:05Speaker 5: There's no cooler name than Antoine Fuqua.
- 33:08Speaker 6: All right.
- 33:08Speaker 11: On our crazy name saying, I guess we're going to
- 33:11Speaker 11: round out the geek activities. So we will get the
- 33:14Speaker 11: rest of our eggs out of these cups here and
- 33:16Speaker 11: come back with this week's Sofa Theater feature.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Da-da-da-da. Do-do-do.
- 33:37Speaker 9: A fighting rabbit that buffs you up.
- 33:43Speaker 17: And the murderous pigeon carries the dagger.
- 33:46Speaker 9: .
- 33:55Speaker 6: Burn!
- 33:55Speaker 17: You're looking at a very unusual kind of egg from Cadbury.
- 33:59Speaker 13: It's only around till Easter.
- 34:03Speaker 1: The shell is blue on the egg.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Cadbury's getting more chocolate.
- 34:10Speaker 6: Burn!
- 34:10Speaker 16: But inside sits a sweet, gleaming yellow yolk so unripe
- 34:14Speaker 16: I don't wish it's quite filling.
- 34:17Speaker 1: You know, it's a.
- 34:21Speaker 1: And when he's gone, they're gone.
- 34:25Speaker 3: What happened that night.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Science made its greatest mistake?
- 34:33Speaker 5: What unknown terror.
- 34:38Speaker 15: Was born that night?
- 34:43Speaker 3: What is the terrifying mutant that strikes from behind the
- 34:53Speaker 3: shroud of night.
- 34:59Speaker 6: That night.
- 35:02Speaker 3: That night of the Lepus. A night of total terror,
- 35:12Speaker 3: more shattering than your strangest nightmare. What caused the unnatural death, destruction,
- 35:21Speaker 3: and panic that night of the Lepus? Janet Leigh. Stuart Whitman.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Rory Calhoun.
- 35:34Speaker 6: And Paul Fix.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Night of the Leapus. Kill one and thousands take their place.
- 35:42Speaker 3: What devil creatures growing weight and size every day are
- 35:47Speaker 3: hidden behind the eyes of horror? What can stop them?
- 35:54Speaker 3: Night of the Leapus.
- 35:58Speaker 6: From MGM.

- 36:46Speaker 2: greatest movie geek show on Earth.
- 36:57Speaker 5: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Sofa Theater.
- 37:06Speaker 2: We predict you'll greet Harvey with laughter and rousing applause.
- 37:12Speaker 2: How do we know? Because for five long years, audiences
- 37:16Speaker 2: did just that on Broadway for the most talked-about Pulitzer
- 37:19Speaker 2: Prize-winning comedy of our time. And now, at last, Harvey
- 37:23Speaker 2: comes to the screen, better, richer, funnier than it ever
- 37:26Speaker 2: was on the stage. Starring James Stewart as Elwood P. Dowd,
- 37:30Speaker 2: America's most amiable citizen. with hilarious Josephine Hull and a
- 37:34Speaker 2: grand cast. And once again, the critics are raving.
- 37:40Speaker 16: Of all the films I've made, Harvey is one of
- 37:44Speaker 16: my favorites. There's just no question about that. I have
- 37:48Speaker 16: a special admiration and love for that big white rabbit.
- 37:53Speaker 16: The whole idea of the character Elwood P. Dowd who
- 38:00Speaker 16: has this great friend, which is a six-foot-eight white rabbit.
- 38:06Speaker 16: He became a very close friend of mine. You can
- 38:10Speaker 16: see it on the performers, on.
- 38:14Speaker 15: All of us.
- 38:15Speaker 16: You can see that all of us sort of accept
- 38:19Speaker 16: the existence of this rabbit. And, of course, that's what Mrs.
- 38:24Speaker 16: Chase had in mind when she wrote this.
- 38:35Speaker 9: Are we going.
- 38:42Speaker 1: To go hide all the eggs in the backyard?
- 38:50Speaker 5: Do you want to?
- 38:51Speaker 6: No.
- 38:52Speaker 5: All right, we are back. This week's Sofa Theater feature
- 38:54Speaker 5: is Harvey. Appropriate, I thought, for the Easter festivities here.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and I thought it was going to take that
- 39:01Speaker 1: long for the movie to be over.
- 39:03Speaker 5: Nuh-uh.
- 39:04Speaker 1: I thought it was long, dude. It felt forever.
- 39:07Speaker 5: The year is 1950. The director is Henry Coster. The plot,
- 39:12Speaker 5: according to IMDb, and by the end we're going to
- 39:13Speaker 5: get into probably the first issue we're going to have
- 39:15Speaker 5: to address here. Edward P. Dowell is a mild-mannered, pleasant
- 39:18Speaker 5: man who just happens, he says, to have an invisible
- 39:20Speaker 5: friend resembling a six-foot rabbit.
- 39:22Speaker 11: Six foot three and a half. exactly and even then
- 39:24Speaker 11: it's wrong. Because, and you'll notice, I mean, it is
- 39:34Speaker 11: a whole lot of him looking up at the rabbit.
- 39:36Speaker 11: The reason it's six foot three and a half or
- 39:37Speaker 11: whatever they technically keep calling him the whole time is
- 39:40Speaker 11: because that's the way it was written for the play.
- 39:41Speaker 11: And obviously the play isn't written to star Jimmy Stewart.
- 39:44Speaker 5: Who is freaking tall.
- 39:45Speaker 1: How tall is he?
- 39:46Speaker 11: He's like six foot three. So it's like he's looking up.
- 39:48Speaker 11: So if you listen to Jimmy Stewart, he says he
- 39:51Speaker 11: always assumed that Hardy was six foot eight because he's
- 39:54Speaker 11: looking up at him the whole time. So in his mind,
- 39:57Speaker 11: and I'm going with Jimmy Stewart because you don't argue
- 39:59Speaker 11: with fucking Jimmy Stewart. six foot eight is really you
- 40:03Speaker 11: know how tall harvey is regardless of what they actually
- 40:05Speaker 11: say within the context of the movie yeah it was
- 40:08Speaker 11: weird that even when jimmy stewart like everybody else kept
- 40:10Speaker 11: saying it but again most of them couldn't really see
- 40:12Speaker 11: him or so they said so it was weird when
- 40:14Speaker 11: even he got the tight wrong because i'm just like
- 40:18Speaker 11: that's impossible you're looking.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Up at him yeah that's my problem i said that
- 40:21Speaker 1: during the movie i'm like what the fuck.
- 40:24Speaker 5: So uh in If we haven't already done it, spoiler alert,
- 40:28Speaker 5: we'll ruin this whole... We'll ruin the hell out of
- 40:31Speaker 5: this movie. This 1950 movie. So, yeah, if you haven't
- 40:34Speaker 5: seen it, go watch it, because, you know, it's Jimmy Stewart.
- 40:36Speaker 15: You can't go wrong.
- 40:37Speaker 5: So, all right, where would you like to begin?
- 40:40Speaker 1: There's a lot of talking in this movie.
- 40:42Speaker 5: It is based on a stage play, so... A lot
- 40:44Speaker 5: of talking. There's usually... Built around a lot of dialogue.
- 40:47Speaker 1: That's a lot of dialogue. A lot of it was pointless.
- 40:51Speaker 10: A lot of it.
- 40:52Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 40:52Speaker 11: I mean, some of it was there were scenes that
- 40:55Speaker 11: I think were really impressive. Like, I mean, there are
- 40:57Speaker 11: the key moments, and you can kind of see them
- 41:00Speaker 11: coming in most movies.
- 41:01Speaker 5: When they should almost, well... nod to Wayne's World here,
- 41:05Speaker 5: go ahead and flash the Oscar clip text at the bottom,
- 41:08Speaker 5: because you can kind of see when they roll into, like, oh, shit,
- 41:11Speaker 5: this is actually pretty impressive. Yeah, so you get a
- 41:13Speaker 5: couple of those in this one. There's two or three where.
- 41:16Speaker 11: Jimmy Stewart just kind of goes into almost a monologue,
- 41:19Speaker 11: and it's pretty impressive. The alley story is amazing, so
- 41:24Speaker 11: it's just him at his best. That's kind of what
- 41:26Speaker 11: the whole movie is, really. I mean, it's Jimmy Stewart
- 41:28Speaker 11: doing what he does best.
- 41:31Speaker 1: And he's awesome. But there was a lot of stuff
- 41:33Speaker 1: that I just didn't need in there. I hated that
- 41:36Speaker 1: bitch that lived with him. His sister? What a bitch.
- 41:40Speaker 5: Yeah, the older one.
- 41:42Speaker 1: She was a bitch, dude.
- 41:44Speaker 5: They're both.
- 41:44Speaker 11: Like, the daughter was not bad. I mean, almost immediately
- 41:47Speaker 11: when we meet the daughter, she says, you know, people
- 41:50Speaker 11: get hit by cars every day. How come uncle can't?
- 41:52Speaker 5: And I was just like, wow, that's harsh.
- 41:54Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Well, I see it. They moved into his fucking house.
- 41:57Speaker 6: Yeah. And they're gonna tell him he can't have an
- 41:59Speaker 6: imaginary fucking bunny?
- 42:00Speaker 1: Dude, fuck you guys.
- 42:01Speaker 5: And have him committed. And like, well, you know what?
- 42:03Speaker 1: We shouldn't have to deal with this. We shouldn't have
- 42:05Speaker 1: to deal with this. Well, then fucking move out.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Get a job. Go find yourself a place to live.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Fucking useless cunts. Get the fuck out of his house.
- 42:13Speaker 5: What?
- 42:15Speaker 11: That might be the first time that's ever been used
- 42:18Speaker 11: in context to a Jimmy Stewart movie.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Seriously. Piss me off.
- 42:23Speaker 5: Which is why we're off.
- 42:24Speaker 1: So, Bitching about, well, he had such potential.
- 42:26Speaker 6: What the fuck are you doing with your life sitting
- 42:28Speaker 6: around fucking useless hat-wearing whore?
- 42:30Speaker 11: Hanging out with the red hat lady club.
- 42:33Speaker 1: That was a stupid-ass fucking hat. Hat-wearing whore.
- 42:36Speaker 11: Well, my favorite, then she's like, the sister's trying to
- 42:39Speaker 11: pawn her daughter off on some poor and suspecting guy
- 42:41Speaker 11: because she's kind of creepy-looking. And, uh, so yeah, her,
- 42:45Speaker 11: her strategy is to invite a bunch of old women over.
- 42:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:49Speaker 11: It's a social circle and she's trying to hook them
- 42:51Speaker 11: up with her sons or whatever. But I was just like,
- 42:54Speaker 11: wouldn't you invite some guys over? Like, why are you
- 42:57Speaker 11: going to invite a bunch of old women over? And then,
- 42:59Speaker 11: you know, wonder why she can't find a man. Well,
- 43:01Speaker 11: maybe because it's a bunch of 60 year old women sitting.
- 43:04Speaker 6: In a room.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Yeah. They're all afraid of invisible bunnies.
- 43:06Speaker 6: Yeah, really.
- 43:07Speaker 5: They all run out of the house.
- 43:08Speaker 1: This is what I don't understand. Dude, it's a fucking bunny.
- 43:12Speaker 7: Like, everyone is, like, freaked out when they leave when
- 43:14Speaker 7: he introduces them to Harvey. Okay, like, you've never met
- 43:17Speaker 7: a crazy person in your life.
- 43:18Speaker 5: And they're all in his house.
- 43:20Speaker 1: That's what pisses me off.
- 43:21Speaker 5: Well, that's what I think is weird.
- 43:22Speaker 11: I was like, is it really, like, that society in
- 43:25Speaker 11: the 50s? Like, was it that much more innocent? Like,
- 43:28Speaker 11: did you just not meet crazy people all the time?
- 43:31Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know. I mean, our society definitely
- 43:33Speaker 5: has gone steadily downhill.
- 43:35Speaker 11: Since then, but still, I mean, these weird, peculiar, and
- 43:39Speaker 11: we'll say that, I mean, sometimes when you meet people,
- 43:41Speaker 11: they probably are just odd, and they get along just fine,
- 43:44Speaker 11: and they have their own little life, and they're, you know,
- 43:47Speaker 11: everything's fine.
- 43:47Speaker 5: You just have to adjust to the way that they are.
- 43:50Speaker 5: You meet people like that every day.
- 43:51Speaker 11: I'm sure that we're still around in the 50s, but
- 43:53Speaker 11: the way they treat him in this is just like,
- 43:56Speaker 11: he is a circus freak, and they run anytime he
- 43:59Speaker 11: comes in, and I'm like, basically he's you know just
- 44:03Speaker 11: and not even like crazy like there's people crazily like
- 44:06Speaker 11: arguing with the invisible people on the street yeah he's
- 44:09Speaker 11: like polite and introduces you to his invisible friend i
- 44:12Speaker 11: mean he's well-mannered he's more well-mannered than just.
- 44:15Speaker 5: About anybody else you will meet period.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Well a lot more well-mannered than me.
- 44:19Speaker 11: Yeah so it's like why don't you just you know
- 44:22Speaker 11: say oh nice to meet you and go on with
- 44:24Speaker 11: your day why do they lose it And run out
- 44:27Speaker 11: of the house any time he introduces them.
- 44:29Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 44:29Speaker 5: That's what I was trying to decide. Like, if it's
- 44:31Speaker 5: really just that shift in, you know... Because, I mean,
- 44:35Speaker 5: maybe now we just run into a lot more crazy people.
- 44:37Speaker 5: Maybe there's just a lot more crazy people on the
- 44:39Speaker 5: street and crazy people in our lives that we've just
- 44:42Speaker 5: adjusted to.
- 44:43Speaker 6: We were more accustomed to it then. They were more
- 44:45Speaker 6: prim and proper. There was a certain way to be things.
- 44:50Speaker 5: Especially in that little society she was bringing people in.
- 44:53Speaker 5: They were all very... society-driven and everything had to go
- 44:57Speaker 5: by the rules of you don't introduce people to invisible
- 45:00Speaker 5: six-foot bunnies.
- 45:02Speaker 11: So, yeah, I don't know. That was just, again, there's
- 45:07Speaker 11: a lot of weird time consideration that has to be
- 45:10Speaker 11: thrown into this. But let's get into the puka angle.
- 45:15Speaker 14: Shells?
- 45:16Speaker 1: Like necklaces?
- 45:16Speaker 6: Yes.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Puka shells.
- 45:18Speaker 5: That's what this is all about.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Puka necklaces. Mostly douchebags wear those.
- 45:22Speaker 5: Yeah, kind of now.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Surfers.
- 45:24Speaker 11: Yeah, in the 70s it was kind of like a surfer,
- 45:28Speaker 11: a little more free spirit thing.
- 45:29Speaker 5: Now it's like douchebags that bought it at the mall.
- 45:33Speaker 5: That bought it at Hollister or Abercrombie. Yeah, it's a
- 45:36Speaker 5: lot more douchey now. But no, this one is. And
- 45:40Speaker 5: that's the thing. They do at least sort of spell
- 45:41Speaker 5: it out. Because they brought up that term and I
- 45:44Speaker 5: was like, I wonder if they're going to. spell it
- 45:46Speaker 5: out for people, especially in the 50s, who probably had
- 45:48Speaker 5: no idea what that is, because people now don't know
- 45:51Speaker 5: what it is. It's actually, and this is what I
- 45:53Speaker 5: want to get into, I mean, this could, it's still
- 45:56Speaker 5: a very... Should.
- 45:57Speaker 1: We break out our dictionary and see what it says
- 45:59Speaker 1: in there? We've got one. Looks blood splattered.
- 46:02Speaker 5: Do you want to go get it?
- 46:02Speaker 6: Yes.
- 46:04Speaker 5: Jadis brought home this fancy dictionary that has been his
- 46:07Speaker 5: dictionary since he was a kid, I'm assuming.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Maybe it's like the one he had when he was
- 46:11Speaker 1: a kid, I don't know.
- 46:12Speaker 5: There you go. It says, like the one.
- 46:14Speaker 11: And it's got the, and I've seen this before, it's
- 46:16Speaker 11: got the pages that have the red speckles on it,
- 46:19Speaker 11: so we decided it looks like blood splatter.
- 46:22Speaker 5: It's pretty exciting.
- 46:24Speaker 1: P-O-O, yes.
- 46:27Speaker 5: It depends. That's how he spelled it.
- 46:29Speaker 11: It's also, I think its official spelling is P-U-C-A with
- 46:33Speaker 11: an accent.
- 46:35Speaker 5: But I think it's actually listed. It's in here.
- 46:38Speaker 17: Boop, boop.
- 46:40Speaker 5: That should not surprise anyone. I don't know.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I'm looking for Pooka. It's not in here. What the
- 46:50Speaker 1: fuck kind of dictionary is this? It's got a cocoon.
- 46:54Speaker 5: Blood splattered.
- 46:56Speaker 11: So, basically, I mean, this is still a very, like, 50s, nice, happy,
- 47:01Speaker 11: friendly movie for the most part. But, I mean, it
- 47:04Speaker 11: could have definitely gone a different way because Pooka is
- 47:08Speaker 11: Irish for goblin.
- 47:10Speaker 5: So, I mean, it could definitely... It is, as I said,
- 47:12Speaker 5: it's a creature.
- 47:13Speaker 11: Of Celtic folklore, notably in Ireland, the west of Scotland,
- 47:17Speaker 11: and Wales, and is one of the fairy folk, and
- 47:21Speaker 11: like many fairy folk, is both respected and feared by
- 47:23Speaker 11: those who believe in it. They're also supposed to be, like, mischievous,
- 47:28Speaker 11: and they're shapeshifters, and they're capable of assuming a variety
- 47:32Speaker 11: of terrifying or pleasing.
- 47:33Speaker 5: Forms, some of which are horse, rabbit... goat, goblin, or dog.
- 47:38Speaker 1: That's interesting. That kind of makes the movie, like, ten
- 47:41Speaker 1: times more interesting.
- 47:41Speaker 5: Yeah, it really, that's the thing.
- 47:43Speaker 11: I assumed it was just, he's crazy and it's a
- 47:45Speaker 11: big invisible guy, but, like, the fact that it is based.
- 47:49Speaker 5: In some sort of mythology is, like, kind of interesting.
- 47:52Speaker 5: I did not know that until I sat down this
- 47:54Speaker 5: weekend and watched it, so that adds a whole new
- 47:57Speaker 5: angle to it and, I guess, brings in more of
- 47:59Speaker 5: a where you take the actual storyline and what's really
- 48:04Speaker 5: going on there.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Well, it's funny.
- 48:06Speaker 7: According to the Wikipedia thing, it says no matter what
- 48:09Speaker 7: shape the puka takes, its fur is almost always dark.
- 48:11Speaker 1: And this was a white rabbit. Yep.
- 48:13Speaker 5: Again.
- 48:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 48:14Speaker 5: They can make up whatever they want.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. Because my mouth's not in this fucking dictionary. Fuckers.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Blood splatters.
- 48:22Speaker 6: Fucker.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Don't know shit.
- 48:25Speaker 11: So we can go back into the puka angle to
- 48:28Speaker 11: the end. But in between now and then, do you
- 48:30Speaker 11: want to talk about some of the other sillier things beforehand?
- 48:33Speaker 5: Like the hop-hop song?
- 48:35Speaker 1: Oh, God. I don't want to think about that again. Oh,
- 48:38Speaker 1: I already blocked it out. Way more jiggling going on than.
- 48:41Speaker 5: I ever wanted to see from old ladies.
- 48:43Speaker 11: In this room full of old 60-year-old ladies, I do
- 48:46Speaker 11: not need to see one.
- 48:47Speaker 5: It's not a... A thin woman decided to get up
- 48:51Speaker 5: and do a hop-hop and hacked out the hopping on stage. Yeah,
- 48:55Speaker 5: it was disturbing, even our characters. The sisters seemed a
- 48:59Speaker 5: little frightened by it, as I was, so that was
- 49:02Speaker 5: kind of fun in a scary, scary way.
- 49:05Speaker 8: Um, what else?
- 49:07Speaker 5: You want to complain about the flowers, Misty?
- 49:08Speaker 6: It's a fucking sign that says, do not pick the flowers,
- 49:11Speaker 6: and I'll be goddamned if there are at least two
- 49:14Speaker 6: characters that are picking flowers during this fucking movie.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Are these fucking... I just can't read. I'm mad. You
- 49:21Speaker 1: don't just go outside and start picking somebody's flowers. It's
- 49:24Speaker 1: just fucking rude. I don't care what fucking century it is.
- 49:27Speaker 1: You don't go fucking pick their flowers. Was it okay
- 49:30Speaker 1: in the 50s to just go fucking pick somebody's flowers?
- 49:32Speaker 11: Obviously not if they were already making signs that told
- 49:35Speaker 11: people not to do that.
- 49:37Speaker 1: I don't know, was the sign there when they were
- 49:38Speaker 1: doing it?
- 49:38Speaker 6: I noticed the sign later, but I didn't know if
- 49:40Speaker 6: they specifically put the sign in just to fucking work
- 49:42Speaker 6: their shit.
- 49:42Speaker 5: They put it in because Jimmy Stewart kept messing with their.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Hey, even after I saw the sign, I saw his
- 49:46Speaker 1: ass picking flowers. Yeah, he don't care.
- 49:48Speaker 5: He lives in his own little world.
- 49:49Speaker 1: Or apparently there's a big-ass bunny. You want to tell
- 49:52Speaker 1: a man with a big-ass bunny to not pick your flowers?
- 49:54Speaker 1: Don't look at that.
- 49:56Speaker 11: So yeah, that's the second time I've heard that rant.
- 49:58Speaker 11: Because midway into the movie, Steve had to throw down
- 50:01Speaker 11: a rant about picking flowers.
- 50:04Speaker 1: You don't just go pick somebody's, you don't mow another
- 50:06Speaker 1: man's lawn. And you don't pick their fucking flowers.
- 50:10Speaker 5: That's, I mean, that is true if you know anybody
- 50:12Speaker 5: who actually takes pride in their landscaping and flowers. You
- 50:16Speaker 5: don't mess with them. I don't really care because I
- 50:18Speaker 5: have nothing but dirt in my yard. But I know.
- 50:21Speaker 11: Enough to know if people have flowers planted there, they're
- 50:24Speaker 11: not just magically growing there. They put a lot of
- 50:26Speaker 11: time into them and they're probably going to be mad
- 50:28Speaker 11: when you're out there.
- 50:28Speaker 5: Stomping in their yard and pulling their flowers out.
- 50:31Speaker 6: Fucker. If I have flowers, nobody better pick them. That's
- 50:35Speaker 6: why I ain't got flowers in the front yard. I
- 50:36Speaker 6: know some little bastard would pick them. That's why our
- 50:38Speaker 6: flamingos are all in the backyard. Afraid somebody's gonna steal
- 50:41Speaker 6: our shit.
- 50:42Speaker 5: I don't blame you. I don't trust anybody.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Especially with the fake filming clan in our neighborhood.
- 50:48Speaker 5: I don't trust any of them. Yeah, that's true.
- 50:50Speaker 11: Along with the other silly things going on. I do
- 50:52Speaker 11: like this, which didn't actually occur, but it said online,
- 50:55Speaker 11: it said, prior to the release of Harvey, a press
- 50:57Speaker 11: release reported that Francis the Talking Mule would have.
- 51:00Speaker 5: A cameo appearance in the movie.
- 51:02Speaker 11: Jimmy Stewart would be walking past Francis, and Francis was
- 51:06Speaker 11: to speak, and Elwood would turn in order to respond,
- 51:09Speaker 11: and Francis would rebuke him and say he was talking
- 51:11Speaker 11: to the big rabbit.
- 51:13Speaker 5: That's pretty funny, actually. In its own little inside joke
- 51:16Speaker 5: sort of way.
- 51:17Speaker 1: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 51:18Speaker 5: Francis the talking mule.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I have no idea what you're talking about.
- 51:20Speaker 5: All right, now we know what we're watching next week.
- 51:22Speaker 1: No, we're not.
- 51:23Speaker 5: No, we're not, because we already have a movie.
- 51:24Speaker 1: I'm out of town.
- 51:26Speaker 5: If you need to watch... Once again, if you need
- 51:29Speaker 5: to break yourself in with some Francis and talking mule,
- 51:31Speaker 5: we can work that in. I thought that was pretty funny.
- 51:35Speaker 8: One more peep out of you, Weisenheimer, and I'll butter
- 51:37Speaker 8: your necktie.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Can I ask a question? Mm-hmm. What the hell kind
- 51:40Speaker 1: of shot were they going to give him that was
- 51:41Speaker 1: going to make his bunny go away?
- 51:43Speaker 5: I was kind of waiting to see where that went.
- 51:45Speaker 5: We're jumping to the end here, but.
- 51:47Speaker 6: I mean, at least if they're going to lobotomize his ass,
- 51:48Speaker 6: I can understand that's a fucking surgery or at least
- 51:51Speaker 6: an ice pick in the eyeball or something.
- 51:52Speaker 1: What fucking shot are you going to give this guy?
- 51:54Speaker 1: It's going to completely change who he is forever.
- 51:57Speaker 5: I don't know that it was.
- 51:59Speaker 11: See, I was trying to decide. I was waiting to
- 52:01Speaker 11: see if it was placebo. I mean, with somebody that...
- 52:04Speaker 11: And since it's all sort of mentally based, I mean,
- 52:07Speaker 11: you could say, I'm going to give you this shot
- 52:08Speaker 11: and it's going to make you better. And since it's
- 52:10Speaker 11: all in his head anyway, it could make him better
- 52:12Speaker 11: if he believed it.
- 52:13Speaker 5: So, I mean, I wasn't sure. But then the way
- 52:15Speaker 5: the cab driver describes it is more like it's some
- 52:18Speaker 5: hardcore medical action going on in that room. It's just
- 52:23Speaker 5: that you're not.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Going to get from, like, a shot and they're just
- 52:25Speaker 1: going to let.
- 52:26Speaker 5: You walk out. Yeah.
- 52:27Speaker 11: Or something that you're going to take one shot and
- 52:29Speaker 11: for the rest of your life you're going to behave
- 52:31Speaker 11: like that.
- 52:31Speaker 5: That seems very... far-fetched.
- 52:34Speaker 11: But you know again I think they were going more
- 52:36Speaker 11: for a theme there than anything else but that's what
- 52:39Speaker 11: I originally when they started talking about this magic shot
- 52:42Speaker 11: and this ridiculous number that they assigned it or whatever
- 52:45Speaker 11: I was just like I was like this sounds made
- 52:48Speaker 11: up anyway so it sounds very placebo based.
- 52:50Speaker 5: The doctor was a dick anyway yeah okay let's go
- 52:52Speaker 5: into these characters so we'll start with that doctor hi
- 52:55Speaker 5: I'm Dr.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Sanderson Miss Kelly tells me that you're concerned about your
- 52:59Speaker 2: brother Mr.
- 53:00Speaker 8: Uh Mr. the card Miss Kelly.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Miss Kelly, the card, please.
- 53:07Speaker 15: Mr.
- 53:08Speaker 8: Dowd, Elmer Peter, this way, yourselves. I'm sorry if I
- 53:11Speaker 8: awakened you, Miss Kelly.
- 53:13Speaker 5: Yeah, from the first second, he's on screen. He's just
- 53:15Speaker 5: a jackass.
- 53:16Speaker 1: He's too young to be a doctor, anyway. I don't
- 53:18Speaker 1: trust doctors that young. And he was just an asshole
- 53:21Speaker 1: to everybody. And that chick, Kelly, the nurse lady, she
- 53:26Speaker 1: was so pretty and so sweet. I kind of wanted
- 53:28Speaker 1: to punch that guy in the face for being mean
- 53:29Speaker 1: to her.
- 53:30Speaker 5: Let's figure out who Kelly is, because we actually like her.
- 53:33Speaker 5: Peggy Dow is Miss Kelly, the nurse.
- 53:35Speaker 6: She was so pretty, and she had She was just
- 53:37Speaker 6: so damn cute in a little outfit, and she was
- 53:39Speaker 6: so skinny.
- 53:40Speaker 1: I mean, you could.
- 53:41Speaker 5: She is, like, ridiculously, like, frighteningly thin. Again, in the 50s,
- 53:45Speaker 5: I guess, you went for that look.
- 53:48Speaker 6: They didn't have McDonald's back then to make your ass fat.
- 53:52Speaker 5: Within a couple years, it would have set in and started.
- 53:54Speaker 1: Women in the 50s weren't really that skinny.
- 53:55Speaker 5: Well, it was one or the other. It was, like,
- 53:57Speaker 5: the skinny women were, like, super skinny, and then you
- 54:01Speaker 5: had big-boned girls that, like, it didn't, you know... Again,
- 54:04Speaker 5: you just didn't have... the weird, like, body image thing
- 54:08Speaker 5: that we have now. It was a little more just
- 54:10Speaker 5: how they naturally came out.
- 54:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it was a more natural thing. Like,
- 54:14Speaker 7: I mean, like, any time. Some women are just really
- 54:18Speaker 7: naturally skinny, and some people aren't.
- 54:20Speaker 1: It's the same on the average. They were more skinny
- 54:21Speaker 1: back then. I don't know.
- 54:23Speaker 5: It's also very waist-oriented, you know? I mean, like, she
- 54:26Speaker 5: was normal, like, everywhere else, but her waist is, like,
- 54:29Speaker 5: 20 inches around. Like, it's freakishly tiny. Whereas the rest
- 54:33Speaker 5: of her seemed like she was probably a normal girl. But, like,
- 54:36Speaker 5: you look at her, like, cinched up in her little
- 54:37Speaker 5: nurse outfit. It's like, Lord, that doesn't look healthy at all.
- 54:41Speaker 5: Go have a McDonald's in a couple years. Have a
- 54:43Speaker 5: Big Mac for that.
- 54:44Speaker 1: She was so sweet. The other doctor was a dick.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I didn't like him at all.
- 54:48Speaker 6: Dr.
- 54:48Speaker 5: Sanderson. Charles Drake. Sounds kind of like an ass, doesn't it?
- 54:54Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 54:55Speaker 11: I don't remember seeing him in other stuff. So maybe
- 54:57Speaker 11: his performance is different. But in this movie, he's just...
- 54:59Speaker 11: He's an ass.
- 55:00Speaker 5: Yeah, he's kind of a jerk the whole time. Oh,
- 55:05Speaker 5: let's see. I think the sister does a good job.
- 55:08Speaker 5: She's not likable, but... I'm not complaining about her performance
- 55:12Speaker 5: as an actress.
- 55:12Speaker 1: I'm just saying she's a bitch.
- 55:13Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. I mean, as a character, you don't like her,
- 55:16Speaker 5: and she's screwing over her family, basically. But, yeah, Josephine Hull.
- 55:21Speaker 1: I'm afraid you're just going to move your ass into
- 55:23Speaker 1: somebody's house.
- 55:25Speaker 6: Then try to commit them because you don't agree with
- 55:27Speaker 6: their fucking imaginary bunny friend?
- 55:28Speaker 1: Dude, fuck you.
- 55:30Speaker 5: She's an arsenic in a lace.
- 55:32Speaker 17: Is she?
- 55:32Speaker 1: She has to have some arsenic. Egg sliming off.
- 55:39Speaker 5: Taking all the scales off.
- 55:41Speaker 1: I just wanted to see.
- 55:42Speaker 5: I was curious.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Are you going to eat one?
- 55:45Speaker 6: Eat it.
- 55:46Speaker 1: She's messing with your egg, dude.
- 55:47Speaker 5: Dude, that's my dinosaur egg. What are you doing?
- 55:50Speaker 1: Nothing, nothing. Not doing anything. Same thing.
- 55:53Speaker 5: I'm going to check on Wilson, because I think there
- 55:58Speaker 5: were some.
- 55:58Speaker 1: I feel like he's been in a whole ton of shit.
- 56:00Speaker 5: Yeah. I was trying to think. There was something specific
- 56:03Speaker 5: I was thinking he was in, but I could be
- 56:05Speaker 5: mistaking him for somebody else.
- 56:06Speaker 1: I'm probably mistaking him for a guy that was in
- 56:08Speaker 1: It's a Wonderful Life. He was in The Bad Seed.
- 56:11Speaker 1: That's what it was.
- 56:12Speaker 11: Yeah, see, I don't think he's who I was thinking of,
- 56:14Speaker 11: but I am recognizing him from all these other TV shows.
- 56:17Speaker 11: The last thing he was in was Seinfeld, so it's
- 56:20Speaker 11: good that he worked all the way into 96.
- 56:23Speaker 5: But, yeah, he's in The Bad Seed. He's in, like,
- 56:25Speaker 5: tons of TV shows. If you go back, like, well,
- 56:29Speaker 5: even in the 70s, but all the way back, like,
- 56:31Speaker 5: 60s and late 50s, he's in, like, every big TV show.
- 56:34Speaker 1: That's what it was, though. He was in The Bad Seed.
- 56:37Speaker 5: Yeah, you'll definitely recognize him when you see him.
- 56:39Speaker 1: Did they remake Harvey? Yeah, with Harry Anderson.
- 56:43Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the thing. I mean, we were complaining... He
- 56:45Speaker 5: was in the remake.
- 56:46Speaker 1: That's funny.
- 56:46Speaker 5: We were complaining there, you know, back when we did
- 56:49Speaker 5: the story a year or so ago, because Spielberg wanted
- 56:51Speaker 5: to do a remake of this recently, and we were like, why?
- 56:54Speaker 11: How would you even do that? But technically, there have
- 56:57Speaker 11: been five remakes. There have been five other versions of
- 57:01Speaker 11: this other than this one. They're all made for TV.
- 57:04Speaker 11: They've never done a theatrical remake, but... And this is
- 57:07Speaker 11: one I thought was interesting. I wanted to see what
- 57:09Speaker 11: your thoughts were. So the first one they did was
- 57:12Speaker 11: a 1958 version with Art Kearney, which that performance-wise seems interesting.
- 57:17Speaker 5: I would see that. But from what I heard, that version,
- 57:21Speaker 5: you see Harvey. You see a big rabbit. Now, doesn't
- 57:26Speaker 5: that really change the movie? Like, doesn't that make it
- 57:29Speaker 5: an entirely different movie?
- 57:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I would think so.
- 57:31Speaker 5: I mean, the whole point of it is... I don't know.
- 57:35Speaker 5: It just totally changes the vibe and what you're kind
- 57:38Speaker 5: of selling in the movie.
- 57:39Speaker 11: I mean, the whole idea is that, you know, everybody
- 57:42Speaker 11: thinks he's crazy. You don't know what to think. Initially,
- 57:45Speaker 11: you probably think he's crazy. And by the end, there's
- 57:48Speaker 11: this weird, like, you know, question, I suppose.
- 57:51Speaker 6: But.
- 57:53Speaker 11: it's still, like, very up in the air, and you
- 57:55Speaker 11: can kind of take from it what you want. If
- 57:56Speaker 11: you see a giant rabbit there from the beginning, it's
- 57:59Speaker 11: just about, he's right, everybody else is wrong, and, I mean,
- 58:03Speaker 11: I don't know what else you can take from that. Like,
- 58:04Speaker 11: it seems like it pulls the story out from under it, like,
- 58:08Speaker 11: two minutes in, doesn't it?
- 58:09Speaker 7: I mean.
- 58:09Speaker 1: I don't know how I feel about that.
- 58:12Speaker 5: Well, think about it. Art Carney and a giant rabbit.
- 58:14Speaker 11: I haven't seen it. I need to go find it.
- 58:17Speaker 11: Is it like a cartoon? Is it a guy in
- 58:19Speaker 11: a mall outfit? I'm not sure what you see.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Is it my aunt?
- 58:24Speaker 5: Oh, not your aunt. Please keep your aunt out of movies.
- 58:27Speaker 1: She hasn't worn a bunny suit in a couple years.
- 58:30Speaker 5: Your aunt's crazy.
- 58:31Speaker 7: She is.
- 58:32Speaker 5: So, yeah. I don't know.
- 58:33Speaker 11: That was the only one that was really interesting. There's
- 58:36Speaker 11: like two German versions of it that they've done on TV.
- 58:41Speaker 11: In 72, Jimmy.
- 58:42Speaker 5: Stewart came back and did a different version of it,
- 58:44Speaker 5: I guess as an older version of the character. And then, yeah,
- 58:47Speaker 5: in 1998, Harry Anderson and Swoosie Kurtz did a version
- 58:51Speaker 5: of it.
- 58:52Speaker 1: Is it that recent? Yeah, it's sort of that. Interesting.
- 58:55Speaker 1: That's frightening.
- 58:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 58:57Speaker 5: So, again, I like Harry Anderson, but it's all been
- 59:00Speaker 5: downhill since Night Court. I mean, Night Court is awesome.
- 59:03Speaker 5: He's really great in it, but you watch him in, like,
- 59:06Speaker 5: that next sitcom, what was it, Dave's World or whatever that,
- 59:10Speaker 5: thing was, not as charming.
- 59:12Speaker 11: So I don't see him pulling off this character the same.
- 59:14Speaker 11: I don't know that anybody could pull it off but
- 59:16Speaker 11: Jimmy Stewart, really. That's why it would have been weird
- 59:19Speaker 11: for them to try to.
- 59:20Speaker 8: Do a remake.
- 59:21Speaker 6: Tom Hanks.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Tom Patrick Flannery can do it.
- 59:23Speaker 6: Oh, God.
- 59:24Speaker 5: Tom Hanks is probably the closest thing. I know some
- 59:26Speaker 5: people don't like him, but I'm saying. I don't like him.
- 59:29Speaker 6: Yeah, I know.
- 59:29Speaker 5: But, I mean, really, he is that every man.
- 59:31Speaker 1: Dane Cook.
- 59:34Speaker 5: At some point in this movie, did Jimmy Stewart rip
- 59:36Speaker 5: his shirt off and start going, throwing water on himself.
- 59:39Speaker 1: And start climbing on shit?
- 59:39Speaker 5: That might have made it not seem quite so long. Oh, man.
- 59:43Speaker 1: I'm just joking. I don't like Dane Cook so much.
- 59:45Speaker 5: He used to be funny.
- 59:47Speaker 1: He used to be awesome.
- 59:48Speaker 5: He used to be awesome. Oh, man.
- 59:51Speaker 1: Back in the day, before he made a shitload of shit.
- 59:54Speaker 1: He should do movies.
- 59:55Speaker 5: Yeah, his movie.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Actually, all of his movies have sucked.
- 59:59Speaker 5: Yeah, kind of. And he's the same jackass in every
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: one of them. I guess that's it for the cast, right?
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: The cab driver was an asshole, too.
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: Which one? The first one or the second?
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: The end.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: The end?
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: Yeah, he's kind of a jerk, too. There's a lot
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: of jerky characters that... Again, which is why I guess
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: you end up liking Jimmy Stewart's character so much more.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Well, you can't not like him.
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: Yeah, you can't not like Jimmy Stewart. I don't know.
- 1:00:22Speaker 11: I mean, there's probably people out there that just don't
- 1:00:23Speaker 11: like his delivery. He has a very specific delivery. If
- 1:00:26Speaker 11: you're not into that, you're going to have a problem with.
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: This movie because.
- 1:00:30Speaker 11: It's full-on Jimmy Stewart in his usual form. But, again,
- 1:00:35Speaker 11: if you're okay with that, he's charming all the time.
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: I love Jimmy Stewart.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: He makes good sausage. Yeah.
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: I'm fucking with you.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: What did you say? He makes good sausage. As the
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: other Jimmy Stewart, I'm fucking with you. It's not the same.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: But if he did, I would totally buy Jimmy Stewart sausage.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Who was it that did make sausage? Wasn't there somebody?
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Jimmy D? No, there was somebody else.
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: One of the singers did.
- 1:00:58Speaker 7: I know.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Who was it?
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: Charlie Pryde.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Oh, you're on.
- 1:01:03Speaker 11: It did make me think this is sort of the,
- 1:01:07Speaker 11: probably the reason there is the existence of Drop Dead Fred.
- 1:01:13Speaker 11: I got a lot of that as I'm going through
- 1:01:15Speaker 11: the trying to convince other people this invisible character exists
- 1:01:20Speaker 11: and having him sort of get you in trouble, although
- 1:01:23Speaker 11: he doesn't get him into wacky hijinks the way Drop
- 1:01:25Speaker 11: Dead Fred does, but he does get him into almost
- 1:01:27Speaker 11: getting committed into a sanitarium, so I mean It still
- 1:01:31Speaker 11: gets him into.
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: Trouble, so to speak, but.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I love that movie. Oh, no! Elwood! Elwood, down! Bless
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: your heart.
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: Aunt Ethel.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: Well, what a pleasure to come in and find a
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: beautiful woman waiting for me.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Why, Elwood, you haven't changed. And now, Aunt Ethel, I'd
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: like you to meet Harvey.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: Harvey, you've heard me speak of Aunt Ethel Chauvenet.
- 1:01:55Speaker 16: She's one of my oldest and dearest friends.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: She's the one who.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Well, this is the one.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: No, she's the one.
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: He says he would have.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: Known you anywhere.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: Well, now we must go in.
- 1:02:11Speaker 8: And greet the rest of our friends.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Come on, Harvey.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Oh, Adethel, pardon me, you're.
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: Standing in his way.
- 1:02:21Speaker 11: I guess to get back to the, because to me
- 1:02:23Speaker 11: it's like, again, it's a very lighthearted movie for what's
- 1:02:26Speaker 11: going on. But let's talk about what could be going on. Like,
- 1:02:31Speaker 11: the way more serious angles there. Like, what is this
- 1:02:33Speaker 11: thing about alcoholism?
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Makes you see bunnies? Well, no. It kind of makes
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: you see elephants. I'm confused.
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: Yeah, he's basically, you know, if they wanted to present
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: it differently, he's just a drunk.
- 1:02:45Speaker 11: I mean, all he wants to do, and granted, they
- 1:02:48Speaker 11: put a very good spin on it by the end
- 1:02:50Speaker 11: when he.
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: Tells the story. But, I mean, all he wants to
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: do is hang out in the bar all day.
- 1:02:54Speaker 11: He freely admits to the fact that he likes a drink. And,
- 1:02:57Speaker 11: you know, he sees an invisible character that he hangs
- 1:03:00Speaker 11: around with. So, I mean, that could be taken a
- 1:03:03Speaker 11: very unhealthy way.
- 1:03:05Speaker 7: I just kind of think he didn't really have anything
- 1:03:07Speaker 7: better to do. And he hung out in bars. People
- 1:03:11Speaker 7: didn't judge him so much there. You know, like, people
- 1:03:13Speaker 7: on the street were kind of like, ah, weirdo. But,
- 1:03:16Speaker 7: you know, that friend he had in the bar that
- 1:03:18Speaker 7: just got out of jail. I mean, fuck that guy was, like,
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: in prison. He's not going to judge him for having
- 1:03:22Speaker 7: an invisible rabbit friend. So.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: I think that was why he hung out in bars.
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: Again, I mean, he puts it in a very nice light,
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: but yeah, I mean, there's a lot of weird, you know,
- 1:03:34Speaker 5: you could take it the fact that he's, this is
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: all alcohol-induced, or the fact that there's this weird, half
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: the thing has to do with mental health, and it
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: certainly doesn't paint the mental health industry in a nice light, so...
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:03:48Speaker 11: It's like, that could have gone down a really dark
- 1:03:51Speaker 11: and creepy road, too, if you wanted to focus more
- 1:03:53Speaker 11: on the weird mental health end of it.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: Stripping down old ladies.
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: Stripping down old ladies.
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: One part I don't understand, after that guy, after she
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: told her daughter about how he, like, ripped her clothes
- 1:04:06Speaker 7: off and stuff like that, and she seemed kind of interested,
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: and then that guy comes over and she's flirting with him.
- 1:04:10Speaker 7: I'm like, this guy just assaulted your mother and you're
- 1:04:13Speaker 7: trying to fix him a sandwich?
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: She's got mama issues.
- 1:04:16Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: And again, she is pretty damn hard up, so.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: Obviously, because Wilson is not a prize.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Yeah, no. He likes some egg and onion sandwiches, though.
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: Oh, and a close talker.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: Dude, seriously.
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: We had a lot of issues.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: Personal space. Where's my bubble? I didn't like that shit.
- 1:04:34Speaker 11: I mean, there's a little of that going on in
- 1:04:36Speaker 11: general in this movie, but specifically, that one character is always.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: Up in somebody's group.
- 1:04:41Speaker 11: I mean, I can understand with her, because he's trying
- 1:04:43Speaker 11: to be making time with her, but then he does
- 1:04:45Speaker 11: it to Jimmy Stewart.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: He started making out with him. He was so damn close.
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: He does it with everybody. I'm just like, dude, personal
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: space invader.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: What the hell?
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: Where's this guy out with Pete Dodd that screwballed with
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: a rabbit?
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: What's the matter?
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: You goofy too? You a member of this cockeyed family?
- 1:04:59Speaker 11: I do like the fact that they try to, you know,
- 1:05:02Speaker 11: since they're working in all this mental health bullshit. And
- 1:05:05Speaker 11: it kind of becomes that. It's like they really do
- 1:05:07Speaker 11: try to psychoanalyze him. And you get the doctor trying
- 1:05:10Speaker 11: to do his doctor thing. And he's like, tell me
- 1:05:12Speaker 11: about your father. And he's like, oh, he shoots that
- 1:05:14Speaker 11: one down. Didn't you have a playmate as a child?
- 1:05:17Speaker 11: And there was some sort of, you know, you were
- 1:05:18Speaker 11: really close. And nope, shoots that down. So I like
- 1:05:21Speaker 11: that he tries to take all these very... cliched, psychoanalyzing
- 1:05:25Speaker 11: bullshit angles, and none of them have anything to do
- 1:05:29Speaker 11: with Jimmy Stewart's character. He's, again, maybe it isn't mental
- 1:05:33Speaker 11: health related at all. Maybe it is sort of related
- 1:05:36Speaker 11: to this giant bunny that he's hanging out with.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: You're confused as to why his dad had a different
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: last name as him. Did we ever figure out that?
- 1:05:42Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Was his mom a whore?
- 1:05:45Speaker 12: She's dead.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Yeah, his mom's dead. Did she remarry after his dad died?
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:05:49Speaker 7: Even so, I don't think he would have taken his
- 1:05:51Speaker 7: stepdad's name.
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: You wouldn't think so.
- 1:05:54Speaker 6: Weird maybe it's an imaginary name maybe his dad was
- 1:05:57Speaker 6: imaginary that's.
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: What the doctor was going for now you sound like
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: a doctor.
- 1:06:02Speaker 7: Sound like a drag ass well most of the time
- 1:06:07Speaker 7: but we still like it so the awesome.
- 1:06:11Speaker 11: But they also do like a again they do another
- 1:06:14Speaker 11: like this is sort of taking a lot of jabs
- 1:06:15Speaker 11: at mental health because they also do a very like
- 1:06:19Speaker 11: attack on the Freudian way of thinking that, I mean,
- 1:06:21Speaker 11: she even says, is that all these doctors think about
- 1:06:23Speaker 11: is sex? She specifically calls them out for that. And
- 1:06:27Speaker 11: I like that her, you know, her way is to
- 1:06:30Speaker 11: get out of these dark rooms and quit sitting around
- 1:06:32Speaker 11: thinking about sexual pervs and go out for a walk
- 1:06:34Speaker 11: in the sunshine.
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: You know, it's like, It does. It's a very different.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Unless you walk by some pervs.
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: Well, I gotta hang out somewhere. What do you want?
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Leave the playground alone.
- 1:06:46Speaker 5: Not the playground.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: The high school.
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: High school parking lot, maybe.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: The smoking tree.
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: I don't like smoking, girls. What are you talking about?
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: Electronic cigarette, maybe. That's questionable.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Unless they'll know you care.
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: Not in that way. Oh, not Feldman, anyway.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Payne was way prettier. Sorry.
- 1:07:11Speaker 11: But yeah, I thought that, I mean, again, it was
- 1:07:13Speaker 11: taking another shot at your very standard psychoanalyzing and ridiculous
- 1:07:19Speaker 11: mental health bullshit that I thought was kind of funny,
- 1:07:21Speaker 11: since it's all about a guy who's arguably crazy.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: I've had imaginary boyfriends for years. Does that mean I
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: was crazy?
- 1:07:28Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: Yeah. I'm pretty sure I told you that all along, too.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: I imagine my boyfriends were at least real people.
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: They just didn't know they were your boyfriends.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: They didn't know. Exactly. I have that, too. I had
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: some really pretty ones, though. Me, too. One was six
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: foot four and a half. He was taller than Harvey.
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: I mean.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: And I want to know, was that including his ears?
- 1:07:49Speaker 11: I don't think so. Again, I think six foot eight
- 1:07:52Speaker 11: is probably still his head. ears, he could be huge.
- 1:07:56Speaker 6: Oh, God.
- 1:07:56Speaker 11: Because, I mean, that's where Jimmy Stewart's looking at him,
- 1:07:59Speaker 11: so I'm assuming he's looking him in the face, but
- 1:08:01Speaker 11: still only a few inches higher than his face, which
- 1:08:03Speaker 11: is 6'3.
- 1:08:04Speaker 6: I had a problem with the hat that they claimed
- 1:08:06Speaker 6: was the rabbit's, too, because those holes were too small,
- 1:08:09Speaker 6: and if it's a huge-ass bunny, its head's probably going
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: to be a little bit, not the same shape as
- 1:08:14Speaker 6: a human's.
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: Well, you see him, too.
- 1:08:16Speaker 11: I mean, by the end of it, you see what
- 1:08:18Speaker 11: he looks like. He does look like he's got a
- 1:08:20Speaker 11: pretty large head and giant ears.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: That hat would not have fucking fit.
- 1:08:23Speaker 6: Those holes were not big enough. That's just impractical. Jumping
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: Jesus on a pogo stick. That's just not right.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Exactly. I concur.
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: I mean, what's up with that?
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: So then I guess the big question for it is,
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: is Harvey real?
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: I thought he was.
- 1:08:41Speaker 5: I mean, in the beginning, I didn't even question it
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: that he was.
- 1:08:44Speaker 11: I assumed he was a figment of his imagination. When
- 1:08:47Speaker 11: they enter into this whole, like, goblin aspect that he
- 1:08:50Speaker 11: actually could be a mystical figure.
- 1:08:52Speaker 7: I mean, when he's following the doctor around and the
- 1:08:55Speaker 7: doors are opening.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: The doctor's drunk at that point. Oh, that's true.
- 1:08:59Speaker 11: I mean we as the audience see the doors opening
- 1:09:01Speaker 11: and we see the swing moving so i mean they
- 1:09:03Speaker 11: do throw that aspect of of questioning it at this
- 1:09:07Speaker 11: point of okay we just saw that happen does that
- 1:09:09Speaker 11: mean there's actually something there But I think even if
- 1:09:12Speaker 11: you take that out, you do have to kind of
- 1:09:14Speaker 11: look at it one way or the other and be like, okay,
- 1:09:17Speaker 11: what way am I taking this movie? Am I taking
- 1:09:19Speaker 11: it as though he's crazy, but in that craziness he's
- 1:09:24Speaker 11: more wise than most people?
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: Or is this actually a physical thing, invisible, but still a.
- 1:09:30Speaker 11: Physical presence of some sort that is really interacting with people?
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: I don't know. Where do you take it?
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: It's too complicated for my brain. I like to think
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: that Harvey's real just because.
- 1:09:42Speaker 11: By the end of this, they make it seem like that.
- 1:09:44Speaker 11: They definitely take it down that road. I mean, I think.
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: In the end it really doesn't matter. Like, again, I
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: think you almost go back to what that first one was,
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: was in his own weird craziness, now whether it's brought
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: upon by an actual mythological creature or just his crazy head,
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: it's like whatever state.
- 1:10:04Speaker 11: Put Jimmy Stewart's character in this frame of mind It worked.
- 1:10:09Speaker 11: Because in a way, I mean, he's better than everybody else,
- 1:10:12Speaker 11: you know? It's like he is a nicer person. He's
- 1:10:16Speaker 11: nicer to be around. He's polite. He's, you know, cordial.
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: I mean, everything about him is positive.
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: Well, see, there was a point in the movie where
- 1:10:24Speaker 7: he said he tried to live in reality for 35
- 1:10:27Speaker 7: years and gave up on that because it didn't work.
- 1:10:29Speaker 7: She said he was 42. So for seven years, I
- 1:10:32Speaker 7: guess that meant that he had Harvey, right?
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:35Speaker 5: I'm assuming.
- 1:10:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: Something like that.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: He didn't say that he gave up. He said he
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: beat out on reality. I mean, that he won over reality.
- 1:10:42Speaker 12: Reality sucks.
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: I mean, really.
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: So.
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: But, I mean, I don't know.
- 1:10:47Speaker 11: It leads you to that, where everybody else is doing
- 1:10:50Speaker 11: things the normal way, and they're all kind of miserable
- 1:10:53Speaker 11: and screwing up their lives, and he's doing things this very, like,
- 1:10:57Speaker 11: selfless way. Like, everything about him is... concerned with other people,
- 1:11:02Speaker 11: you know? You should sit down, you know?
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: Or all the, like, ridiculously nice things he says to
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: the nurse.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Well, she deserved him because she was so pretty.
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: But, see, that's the thing.
- 1:11:11Speaker 11: If anybody else were delivering the lines that he was,
- 1:11:14Speaker 11: I'd be like, ugh. I would just be, like, ready
- 1:11:17Speaker 11: to smack him because I would assume in any other
- 1:11:20Speaker 11: case they were making time with the nurse.
- 1:11:23Speaker 5: They were hitting on her.
- 1:11:24Speaker 11: They were putting it towards their own benefit. And that's
- 1:11:28Speaker 11: not the case with him. It's like every time... It's
- 1:11:30Speaker 11: very selfless, and it's not trying to get him anywhere.
- 1:11:33Speaker 11: It's not trying to accomplish anything other than make her
- 1:11:36Speaker 11: feel better. And by the end, he's pairing her up
- 1:11:40Speaker 11: with somebody else.
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: So it is true. He really isn't trying to move
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: in on her.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's trying to pair her up with somebody
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: who's a jackass.
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: But he sees potential in him, too. Again, everything about
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: him is just good. He sees the best in everybody.
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: He lives in this... This reality where it's like he
- 1:11:55Speaker 5: doesn't live in the real world. He lives in the
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: way the world should be. And people should be nice.
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: And that doctor shouldn't be a jackass. And he should
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: pay attention to the nurse.
- 1:12:03Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 1:12:04Speaker 5: I think it is that he is on this.
- 1:12:06Speaker 11: almost higher level of consciousness where he actually sees the
- 1:12:10Speaker 11: way things should be and is trying to make him
- 1:12:13Speaker 11: better that way. He's trying to lead by example, I guess,
- 1:12:16Speaker 11: and be like, if I'm nice, maybe it'll rub off
- 1:12:18Speaker 11: on people.
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: And it seems to. Like, the people around him, the
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: people who quote-unquote see Harvey... Didn't become really nice. You
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: look at, like, the guy who was doing time in prison.
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: It's like, if he didn't tell you that, you'd.
- 1:12:29Speaker 11: Think, I mean, he's an old, weird-looking dude, but other
- 1:12:31Speaker 11: than that, he's really nice, you know? He's like one
- 1:12:35Speaker 11: of the most friendly and nice people in this movie,
- 1:12:38Speaker 11: you know? And he's the one talking about doing a
- 1:12:40Speaker 11: couple stints in prison. So it's like, again, it's the
- 1:12:43Speaker 11: people who pick up on that are the ones that
- 1:12:45Speaker 11: start to become, you know, in a better frame of mind,
- 1:12:48Speaker 11: kind of the way that, like, the way that Elwood is.
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: I mean, it's... He really, I mean, he even said
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: right off the bat, like, the first, one of the
- 1:12:55Speaker 5: first lines that comes out of him is, every day
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: is a beautiful day. So, I mean, it really is that,
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: you know, he's found this other level.
- 1:13:02Speaker 11: Of consciousness where he, and again, I'm watching it going,
- 1:13:06Speaker 11: need to learn something from this guy because I'm miserable
- 1:13:08Speaker 11: a good portion of the time. It is sort of
- 1:13:11Speaker 11: like trying to appreciate what you have, you know, to
- 1:13:15Speaker 11: live every day to the fullest.
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: It's very cliche, but I.
- 1:13:18Speaker 11: Think it shows this guy who lives to, Aside from
- 1:13:21Speaker 11: the fact he doesn't have to worry about money, other
- 1:13:23Speaker 11: than that, he lives a relatively simple life.
- 1:13:25Speaker 5: He doesn't do that much.
- 1:13:26Speaker 11: Basically, he just spends his day getting to know people
- 1:13:30Speaker 11: and trying to make, you know, people feel better.
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: Handing out cards. Handing out business cards, which I was
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: never really sure what the hell was going on with
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: that angle. I mean, I guess it was just before
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: people had cell phones, so he wanted to keep in
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: contact with everybody. He wanted to make sure everybody had
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: his phone number. That's what he says.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: That is bullshit. I got enough.
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: I mean, that's the thing. I'm a closed-off bastard, and
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: I don't look to make friends with everybody in the
- 1:13:54Speaker 5: world because I don't like a lot of these people.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: A lot of you people.
- 1:13:57Speaker 5: No, I said these people, not you people. Our listeners
- 1:14:01Speaker 5: are awesome.
- 1:14:02Speaker 11: But, no, I mean, I think there is something to
- 1:14:04Speaker 11: be said of still being kind of open to it.
- 1:14:06Speaker 11: I mean, you do see how much happier he is
- 1:14:10Speaker 11: accepting these aspects in life, and everybody else is closed
- 1:14:12Speaker 11: off to him and are usually kind of, miserable like
- 1:14:15Speaker 11: his sister like you know the daughter i mean they're
- 1:14:18Speaker 11: they're so busy being concerned about themselves that they're unhappy
- 1:14:22Speaker 11: all the time whereas he's concerned about making other people
- 1:14:25Speaker 11: happy and in the process he's happy.
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: The line where he says you either have to be
- 1:14:29Speaker 6: his mom said either to be smart or be pleasant
- 1:14:32Speaker 6: and i'll take pleasant.
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: You can quote me on that I'm both.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: I'm shocked we'll close it.
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: And humble.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: I am. What's humble ever gotten anybody? Fuck, I'm serious.
- 1:14:45Speaker 11: The meek will inherit nothing, really, in the real world.
- 1:14:48Speaker 16: Sorry, Bible.
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: That's not really how it works.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: Once again, you were wrong.
- 1:14:53Speaker 6: The sad thing is you said that I thought more
- 1:14:56Speaker 6: of the Twilight Zone.
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: Oh, whoops. That's right. I should quote the more impressive one.
- 1:15:01Speaker 6: What?
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: The Twilight Zone. We rank that just above the Bible.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: I do. I wouldn't know. I rank it way above.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: But that's just me.
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: So, I don't know. That's, I think, the bulk of it.
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: I think it's... I like that message that's getting through.
- 1:15:16Speaker 14: Again.
- 1:15:18Speaker 11: I'm a bastard, and I don't necessarily subscribe to it 100%.
- 1:15:21Speaker 11: I will freely admit to that. But I think there's
- 1:15:23Speaker 11: something to be said.
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: I think in the end, that's, I mean, the most
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: impressive thing you take from this is that message that
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: kind of comes out of it, regardless of whether you
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: believe in this invisible bunny rabbit.
- 1:15:35Speaker 11: I think there's a bigger message to it than that,
- 1:15:37Speaker 11: and I think that's kind of what comes through.
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: That and the performances. Again, Jimmy Stewart.
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: I mean.
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: Even he says this is his favorite performance. I mean,
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: and he's in It's a Wonderful Life. He's in Mr.
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: Smith Goes to Washington. So, I mean, he's got some
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: of the most iconic cinematic performances ever, and he likes
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: this one best, you know?
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I still prefer It's a Wonderful Life.
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: I like It's a Wonderful Life. I would still probably
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: kind of put that over it. Even as a performance,
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: I think it's a little more layered. It's a little
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: more depth to it.
- 1:16:05Speaker 6: Anybody who laughs at stuff that's not funny in It's
- 1:16:08Speaker 6: a Wonderful Life needs to be strung out into the
- 1:16:10Speaker 6: street and beat.
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: You're going to have to explain that because nobody else knows.
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: I know what you're talking about and I know who
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: you're talking about.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: My sister's ex-boyfriend, she brought him over to the house
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: to watch it on Christmas Eve, which is what we
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: do every year, and he's sitting there fucking laughing at
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: shit that's not fucking funny.
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: George is there having his meltdown, throwing his shit up
- 1:16:27Speaker 6: in the air, scaring the hell out of his kids.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: This fucker's sitting there laughing.
- 1:16:31Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a traumatizing scene. Like, I watched it this
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: year and I was just like, It's a hard scene
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: to watch. Like, it really is.
- 1:16:38Speaker 11: Not only him losing it, but you're watching him, like,
- 1:16:40Speaker 11: scar these children that he loves.
- 1:16:42Speaker 5: I mean, it's a hard scene to watch.
- 1:16:44Speaker 11: So imagining some jackass laughing at it, I'd want to
- 1:16:47Speaker 11: punch him, too.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Ah, I hated that guy. I don't think it's an exploit. Yeah,
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: he was a douchebag.
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: That's why, because you disapproved of him and she went, yes,
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: Miss T, you're right.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: His name's Dan, if anybody knows him. He's an asshole.
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: We can point him out.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: He's got moves. Moves?
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: Moves.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: She would have dumped him for that all along. I'm
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: just kidding. That fits. It's not even out there for moves.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: Except for Dan.
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: Yeah, Vince did it.
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: Don't mind. Don't laugh at you. She brought her new
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: boyfriend over this year, and he tried to test me.
- 1:17:18Speaker 6: He laughed because I'm the one funny thing that looked
- 1:17:19Speaker 6: at me, and my sister almost had a fucking heart attack.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: She's like... Did she tell him? Yeah, he knows. I
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: told him. Don't laugh. You dare laugh at things that
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: aren't funny.
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: Listen, if you're like the last one, you'll be out
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: of here.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: In a minute. Yeah, where's his ass at now, huh? See? Yeah,
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: don't laugh at you. That's not funny. And there are
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: some things in there that are, you know, you can.
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: There's legitimate comedy in that movie. I mean, there's plenty
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: of stuff that's meant to be light. That is not
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: that moment.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: Yeah, shit's not funny.
- 1:17:49Speaker 6: You don't... I'm a fucking heartless bitch, but that shit's
- 1:17:51Speaker 6: fucking bad and traumatizing.
- 1:17:53Speaker 7: It's wrong.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: It is, dude. I was like.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: Yeah, fuck that guy. It's wonderful. Life's fucking awesome.
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: It is awesome. And again, he's just, you know... That's
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: probably the, like, dividing line, though. I mean, it's so
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: based around Jimmy Stewart and... his performance, and liking his performance.
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: That is like, if you have a problem with him, well,
- 1:18:14Speaker 5: first you're a heartless bastard. But on top of that,
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: I think you're also, there's no way you're going to
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: be able to like this movie. I mean, it's all
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: built around what a likable character Jimmy Stewart is, basically.
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: So I think it all kind of hinges on that
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: for the viewer as well. Other than that, you have
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: pacing issues, but that's about it.
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: It was slow. There were scenes that just needed to
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: be gone and just edited a little bit.
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: It could have tightened it up from the play format.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: It seemed like it was almost two hours.
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: It's not staged. I mean, it does move like a movie.
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: It's not all on one set. They move around a
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: good amount, but it's still pretty wordy. Yeah.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: A lot of words, and any words that weren't coming
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: from Jimmy Stewart probably just could have been deleted.
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: There is. I mean, and it does slow down.
- 1:18:56Speaker 11: Like, after the scene in the alley, it seems like
- 1:18:58Speaker 11: that should be kind of getting near the wrap-up, and
- 1:19:00Speaker 11: there's a good.
- 1:19:01Speaker 5: what 20 minutes or more.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: Longer because it was 20 minutes when i paused it
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: to see how much longer.
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: Yeah so i mean it's it was like.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Oh my god how much longer is.
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: It probably should have wrapped up a little sooner but
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: again it's it's still pretty damn impressive.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: It's all right i'll probably never watch it again blasphemy
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: yeah i'd rather watch this than night of the leapus.
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: It was awesome Harvey is a better movie. I'm not
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: going to pretend like it isn't.
- 1:19:27Speaker 7: I mean, like I said, and I feel like I
- 1:19:29Speaker 7: should like that movie since my grandpa built the entire
- 1:19:32Speaker 7: set with his own two hands. But no, I could
- 1:19:34Speaker 7: live without it. And that movie has made my mom
- 1:19:37Speaker 7: afraid of rabbits. She's still afraid of rabbits.
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: Let's see, now there's a real example. You think Harvey
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: needs to be trimmed down. Night of the Lepus needs
- 1:19:45Speaker 5: to be about half an hour.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: It could have cut out half of the film.
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: They could have cut out half of that. It could have.
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, the joke is over pretty quick in
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: that movie. They really could have made it like a 10,
- 1:19:53Speaker 5: 15 minute short, tops, and covered all your bases. They
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: should make.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: A movie of Benicula. Do they have a movie of it?
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: I don't know if they have one. They should.
- 1:20:01Speaker 7: Vampires and rabbits are totally the end thing.
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: That's true.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: I kind of want to see Hop. He poops jelly beans.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: I hate jelly beans.
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: I heard it was terrible.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Jelly beans are creepy. I hate jelly beans. Why are
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: they creepy? They just have a weird texture. I don't
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: like them.
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: I like the black ones.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: Gross. That's nasty.
- 1:20:19Speaker 5: I like the black ones.
- 1:20:19Speaker 7: Not even the Starburst flavored ones? Or like the other
- 1:20:21Speaker 7: flavored ones that are delicious?
- 1:20:23Speaker 6: I don't like any Starburst or any jelly beans. My
- 1:20:26Speaker 6: grandma loves the... Black jelly beans.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: I like jelly bellies.
- 1:20:29Speaker 6: She had some, like, right at, like, weeks ago, because
- 1:20:31Speaker 6: we walked in her house, and I'm like, I smell
- 1:20:35Speaker 6: black jelly beans. She's like, and she pulled them out
- 1:20:37Speaker 6: of her face. She has one of those, uh, fucking walkers.
- 1:20:39Speaker 6: It has a basket, like a, like a, where you
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: can sit down in it, too, with, like, a lid.
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: Does she have a bell on it?
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: No, but she lifts it up, and she's like, ha, ha, ha.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: She had her jelly beans.
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: But she's cool, I told you. Carrying around black jelly beans.
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: She's awesome.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: She's gonna have room for them jelly beans in that
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: purse when she got that dog in there. My grandma's awesome.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: My grandma's the best.
- 1:20:58Speaker 5: Alright, so I guess that wraps up Harvey, so we
- 1:21:02Speaker 5: will take a break and come back with the rest
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: of the show.
- 1:21:05Speaker 9: I'm a rabbit in your headlights Scared.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Of the spotlight You don't.
- 1:21:16Speaker 9: Come to visit.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: I'm stuck in this bed.
- 1:21:25Speaker 9: Thin rubber gloves She laughs when she's crying She cries
- 1:21:35Speaker 9: when she's laughing Thanks, Mr.
- 1:21:45Speaker 8: Bunny.
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: Thank you, Mr. Bunny.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: Thank you, Mr.
- 1:21:53Speaker 16: Bunny.
- 1:21:54Speaker 6: Thanks, Mr.
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: Bunny.
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: M & M' s Chocolate Candies.
- 1:21:56Speaker 16: The milk chocolate melts in your mouth, not in your hand.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: Thank you, Bunny! Listen.
- 1:22:04Speaker 8: Do you hear it?
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: It's getting closer. Much closer.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Be very, very afraid.
- 1:22:22Speaker 9: I've got a.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: Message for you.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: Pray for death.
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: I'm Gray.
- 1:22:54Speaker 10: Take a journey with me through the dark side of
- 1:22:58Speaker 10: cinema in the Dark Hours Horror Podcast. Find it at thedarkhours.net.
- 1:23:07Speaker 10: Dark Hours.
- 1:23:09Speaker 17: Terror has no.
- 1:23:14Speaker 8: Shape.
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: Far beyond anything your mind could ever conceive. It's part
- 1:23:23Speaker 5: of your problem, you know.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: You haven't seen enough movies.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: All of life's riddles are.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: Answered in the movies. And now, on with the show.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: The time is like a watcher on your face.
- 1:23:31Speaker 9: So cast yourself before.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: I love that song.
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: That is a great song.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: I touched that guy's underpants. Who?
- 1:24:09Speaker 5: What? That's just a side story.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Mark McGrath, Sugar Egg.
- 1:24:15Speaker 5: It's an awesome song.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: And I touched his underpants. How did she touch his underpants?
- 1:24:18Speaker 5: She did. I witnessed it.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: Fine.
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: I touched his sweaty arm.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Did you guys pay to go see a Sugar Ray concert?
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: Wasn't that the free one?
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: I think it was free, wasn't it?
- 1:24:26Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:24:27Speaker 5: We've seen them twice.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: The first one we did pay for.
- 1:24:30Speaker 16: Yikes.
- 1:24:32Speaker 5: Hey, they're an entirely different band than what you think
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: they are.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: I kind of doubt that.
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: Well, now they're non-existent, but... No, seriously. I can play
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: you shit that you will not believe is them.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: Mean Machine kicks ass.
- 1:24:43Speaker 5: Yeah. There's some shit that you will not believe is them.
- 1:24:48Speaker 6: So I touched Mark McGrath's underpants I think there's a
- 1:24:52Speaker 6: picture of me doing it too.
- 1:24:53Speaker 5: I believe so alright we're back and we have feedback
- 1:24:58Speaker 5: from the listener formerly known as Eskimo formerly known?
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: Is he a symbol now?
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: He has a real name now not a symbol? he's
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: not a glyph now oh okay his.
- 1:25:11Speaker 14: Real name's James hey moving meltdowners this is James Uh,
- 1:25:17Speaker 14: small-time sucker punch. I'm driving, so if there's like tons
- 1:25:21Speaker 14: of road noise, it's just not like crap.
- 1:25:23Speaker 12: You know, it's near something. Anyway, sucker punch. Couple things.
- 1:25:32Speaker 14: Brian has said something about the, uh, the layers of
- 1:25:35Speaker 14: the fantasies. You have the brothel layer and then the
- 1:25:38Speaker 14: deeper layer. Kind of like the, it is kind of
- 1:25:41Speaker 14: like the, uh, reception thing where, you know, They go
- 1:25:45Speaker 14: deeper and deeper and all that crap.
- 1:25:48Speaker 12: You can probably.
- 1:25:50Speaker 14: Dig around and trade theories on why she chose a
- 1:25:54Speaker 14: brothel lair. From a storytelling standpoint, the point of the
- 1:25:59Speaker 14: brothel lair was so that we did not have to
- 1:26:02Speaker 14: see these girls being repeatedly molested and raped by the
- 1:26:08Speaker 14: by at least the main guard. I think most of
- 1:26:10Speaker 14: the guards, based on the comment at the end of
- 1:26:13Speaker 14: the movie, and hey, spoiler alert here, the comment at
- 1:26:17Speaker 14: the end of the movie is by the guards that
- 1:26:18Speaker 14: they don't want to hurt any more of these girls. So,
- 1:26:22Speaker 14: I think Mr. Blue, I can't remember his real life.
- 1:26:27Speaker 12: Name or whatever, but Mr.
- 1:26:30Speaker 14: Blue was having all kinds of seemingly fun moments with
- 1:26:36Speaker 14: the girls. And I think, but I don't know if
- 1:26:40Speaker 14: he preferred the lobotomized girls. And I also think that the,
- 1:26:45Speaker 14: the various dance sequences was them using their sexuality, their,
- 1:26:53Speaker 14: you know, places seducing these people to distract, quote unquote,
- 1:27:00Speaker 14: distract them while, uh, They're pulling their little papers.
- 1:27:05Speaker 5: So.
- 1:27:07Speaker 12: It is possible. Though I don't... This is just a
- 1:27:11Speaker 12: kind of gross sort of theory that I cling to.
- 1:27:15Speaker 12: I think that every time Babydoll danced, she was having... Yeah.
- 1:27:23Speaker 9: Anyway.
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: Ew.
- 1:27:24Speaker 12: So that's why they did the brothel lair.
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: Because ew.
- 1:27:27Speaker 12: The lobotomy... Or alert, I guess. The lobotomy... occurred at
- 1:27:34Speaker 12: the beginning, and all the fantasy started when she got lobotomized. Uh,
- 1:27:41Speaker 12: so the, all the fantasies we see are basically her
- 1:27:45Speaker 12: lobotomized mind taking everything that happened to her while she
- 1:27:49Speaker 12: was there and laying this crazy fantasy crap over it. Uh, again,
- 1:27:55Speaker 12: fractured mind trying to deal with all the bullshit she's
- 1:27:57Speaker 12: been through. Uh, last thing, uh, was, uh, Angela pointed
- 1:28:03Speaker 12: out that she didn't think that Sweet Pea actually got
- 1:28:08Speaker 12: on the, like, the scene of Sweet Pea getting on
- 1:28:10Speaker 12: the bus, that wasn't Sweet Pea, that wasn't Baby Doll's mind.
- 1:28:14Speaker 12: That's why, uh, Scott Glenn was there, and that's why
- 1:28:18Speaker 12: Sweet Pea looked all pretty and hair all clean and
- 1:28:22Speaker 12: looked way nicer than someone who's running from the law
- 1:28:24Speaker 12: should look. I love this movie. It's awesome. And, uh,
- 1:28:31Speaker 12: That was just what I wanted to share, I guess.
- 1:28:35Speaker 12: Hopefully you play this one and not the first one.
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: Yeah, he actually had two, and it's sort of a
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: piece together, both of those. The first half is the
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: first one, and then he went into the lobotomy in
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: part on the second half there. So, yeah, this is actually,
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: I think, the earlier message, because since then I've brought
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: up a whole other issue with him that I think
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: has sort of broken his brain. But eventually he decided
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: I think he was on board with it. So first,
- 1:29:00Speaker 5: I mean, we didn't really get into it.
- 1:29:02Speaker 11: That's kind of why I wish we had more time
- 1:29:04Speaker 11: beforehand because I just saw it and then was thrown
- 1:29:06Speaker 11: into the whole mess of the Horror Hound last weekend.
- 1:29:09Speaker 11: So we didn't really get a chance to address some
- 1:29:12Speaker 11: of the weird stuff going on in this plot. So
- 1:29:14Speaker 11: I wanted to sort of go back on that and
- 1:29:16Speaker 11: see what your thoughts were. On some of these things
- 1:29:19Speaker 11: that we didn't really touch on, Steve, I mean, we
- 1:29:21Speaker 11: brought up some of the stuff.
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: I mean, Jay was saying that he thought that's why
- 1:29:24Speaker 5: she created the brothel, because he didn't want to see
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: the horrible things going on in the sanitarium.
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: But I think the lobotomy happened at the end, because
- 1:29:32Speaker 6: they say that she had caused all this trouble. If
- 1:29:34Speaker 6: it had happened at the beginning, then she wouldn't have,
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: you know, because they mention, they say in the movie.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: That she helped a girl escape.
- 1:29:41Speaker 6: You know, and it's not like it's, she's lobotomized already,
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: so I mean, it's not like, You know, I don't
- 1:29:46Speaker 6: think that's part of her fantasy, really. So, I mean,
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: I think that she did help the girl. Maybe she
- 1:29:52Speaker 6: didn't escape in the same image that, you know, that
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: was portrayed. Maybe that's just her vision of it. Maybe
- 1:29:58Speaker 6: it happened in a different way that.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: There's a whole other theory that I'll save that one
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: for the end. But, yeah, I was going to get
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: into what your thoughts were on that one. But I
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: also didn't get into the.
- 1:30:09Speaker 14: I mean, the.
- 1:30:10Speaker 5: I don't know. I mean, as a girl watching it,
- 1:30:13Speaker 5: I mean, in.
- 1:30:14Speaker 11: they bring up all these weird things and there's all
- 1:30:16Speaker 11: this weird backlash he's gotten from people who weren't paying
- 1:30:19Speaker 11: that close attention that say it's like over-sexualizing the girls
- 1:30:23Speaker 11: and it's sort.
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: Of making them.
- 1:30:24Speaker 11: It's pretending like it's feminist, but actually it's just selling
- 1:30:27Speaker 11: them out and putting them in skimpy little costumes. Then
- 1:30:30Speaker 11: I hear other people that go way deeper into it
- 1:30:32Speaker 11: and say they're like using their sexuality, like he was saying,
- 1:30:35Speaker 11: to actually using it against the men that are keeping
- 1:30:38Speaker 11: them captive and using it to get what they want
- 1:30:41Speaker 11: and to get out. And so.
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: I don't know. I mean, did you take, where does
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: your thoughts go on any of this?
- 1:30:47Speaker 6: I agree with them using, you know, that they were
- 1:30:49Speaker 6: using their sexuality to get what they want because, you know,
- 1:30:52Speaker 6: I'm still confused by why he thinks that she was
- 1:30:54Speaker 6: a bottom-mouse at the beginning because they make comments later.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: On about how they did get all this stuff and
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: they did take it.
- 1:30:59Speaker 6: So, you know, maybe they were screwing around with these guys,
- 1:31:01Speaker 6: you know, the whole dance thing or whatever. Maybe that's,
- 1:31:05Speaker 6: you know, the way to sugarcoat things so you, you know,
- 1:31:08Speaker 6: didn't have to see the bad things that were happening,
- 1:31:10Speaker 6: but they were using their sexuality to get these things
- 1:31:13Speaker 6: that they needed to, you know, try to escape, you know?
- 1:31:16Speaker 5: But my question then becomes, I mean, as much as they're,
- 1:31:19Speaker 5: and don't get me wrong, they're all cute chicks, and
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: I like them in their little outfits, but.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Except for Jenna Malone.
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: Except for Jenna Malone. She has bad hair.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: And pucker mouth. I didn't like her. Stinked her mouth.
- 1:31:28Speaker 5: But, um, I mean.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: It was weird. I didn't like it.
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: Did you forget that from when I was asleep? You
- 1:31:32Speaker 5: were asleep.
- 1:31:33Speaker 7: I was asleep.
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: But, um, I don't know.
- 1:31:36Speaker 11: Then I guess my question is, so within the context
- 1:31:38Speaker 11: of the story, they're kind of.
- 1:31:40Speaker 5: Using their sexuality... But how much is Zack Snyder really
- 1:31:44Speaker 5: using their sexuality to sell his movie?
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: Did whatever. It worked for me. I mean, it works.
- 1:31:49Speaker 5: From that aesthetic level, I am pleased with it. It's
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: a beautiful movie. I think they're super cute. And the
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: scenes look good. But I'm just like, I don't know.
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: It becomes both.
- 1:31:59Speaker 11: It's like I understand the point it's trying to make,
- 1:32:01Speaker 11: but at the same time, he's almost canceling out his
- 1:32:03Speaker 11: point by also using them for that same reason.
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:32:07Speaker 11: I mean, it seems like it's playing on the geek
- 1:32:09Speaker 11: market so much that guys like girls dressed up in
- 1:32:13Speaker 11: little schoolgirl outfits with samurai swords.
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: But then they're also there. I think there is.
- 1:32:17Speaker 11: I mean, we were originally, you know, a lot of
- 1:32:19Speaker 11: people were trying to write it off as being a
- 1:32:21Speaker 11: very shallow movie.
- 1:32:22Speaker 5: I think based on a lot of this that we've seen,
- 1:32:24Speaker 5: there's a lot more going on in this movie than
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: people even realize. I mean, you can take it at
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: face value and there's nothing to it really other than
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: a bunch of crazy stuff blowing up and monsters and whatever. But,
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: I think there's a lot more going on. I just
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: don't know.
- 1:32:39Speaker 11: Again, I sometimes question where his morals lie in this project.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: Morals? You think somebody in Hollywood's got morals?
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. But, I mean, that's what's confusing because, like,
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: if he didn't care, if he was just using them
- 1:32:52Speaker 5: for nothing but, you know, the T & A and
- 1:32:55Speaker 5: let's sell this movie... then okay.
- 1:32:57Speaker 8: That'd be fine.
- 1:32:58Speaker 5: But there's obviously a lot more work put into this
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: and a lot more stuff layered into the script than
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: you notice right off. So, I mean, to put that
- 1:33:06Speaker 5: much work into it, I almost think you would also
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: give them a little more credit as actresses, as female characters,
- 1:33:12Speaker 5: and I don't know. It's a weird mixture, isn't it?
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: I don't know. I liked it. I don't care what
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: anybody says.
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: Yeah, it is a weird mixture, and And he could
- 1:33:24Speaker 6: have gone farther with it, if that's what everybody wants
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: to say. I mean, there could have been gratuitous nudity.
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, he stopped it at PG-13.
- 1:33:31Speaker 6: You know, so obviously he wasn't going to go that
- 1:33:35Speaker 6: far with it so that it was at that level.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: Where there was, you know, naked chicks running around.
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: So, I mean.
- 1:33:42Speaker 5: He capped it off, at least.
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: Yeah, at least it wasn't, you know, boobies flapping about
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: and everything.
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: That's not very pro-feminine.
- 1:33:52Speaker 11: Flapping about, yeah. Okay, then we'll go into the other.
- 1:33:57Speaker 11: Have you heard any other stories about it? Because it's funny,
- 1:34:01Speaker 11: when I heard it the first time, you kind of
- 1:34:03Speaker 11: touched on it in your discussion the week before, before
- 1:34:06Speaker 11: I'd heard anybody else talk about it. But then that
- 1:34:08Speaker 11: following week, I heard somebody else, and I've now seen
- 1:34:10Speaker 11: there's like four or five different reviewers that have kind
- 1:34:12Speaker 11: of come up with the same.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: Was it during podcast things?
- 1:34:14Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: I don't listen to podcasts. I haven't heard anything else.
- 1:34:17Speaker 11: Well, the general internet is loaded with geeks, so now
- 1:34:20Speaker 11: they're all kind of talking about it. some of which
- 1:34:22Speaker 11: I've now helped pass it on to, like James, who
- 1:34:24Speaker 11: is now sort of on board with this idea.
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: But I've heard several.
- 1:34:28Speaker 11: Reviewers now pose this theory that, basically, Babydoll is just
- 1:34:34Speaker 11: a figment of Sweet Pea's imagination.
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:34:36Speaker 11: And I think you kind of said something along those lines, but,
- 1:34:39Speaker 11: I mean, it goes into this grand... Like, the more
- 1:34:41Speaker 11: you look at it, it almost makes sense. And if
- 1:34:43Speaker 11: this is the case, I really want to give Zack
- 1:34:45Speaker 11: Snyder credit, because... If he put this much work into
- 1:34:48Speaker 11: this grand overall plot, and it really was that thought out,
- 1:34:52Speaker 11: and then dropped these other things in to almost make
- 1:34:55Speaker 11: it a little, to sort of throw you off a
- 1:34:57Speaker 11: little bit and catch.
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: You off guard.
- 1:34:59Speaker 11: Because, and this was the one I thought was really interesting.
- 1:35:02Speaker 11: If you remember that first scene coming in, it's all
- 1:35:05Speaker 11: on a set. You see the background, you see the
- 1:35:08Speaker 11: curtain opens up. I mean, it's very much a production. So,
- 1:35:13Speaker 11: and you see when they come into that scene later...
- 1:35:17Speaker 11: when they go into the sanitarium and they're doing their
- 1:35:20Speaker 11: little thing, like, you've got Sweet Pea up on the
- 1:35:22Speaker 11: stage pretending to be Baby Doll. So it's like that,
- 1:35:26Speaker 11: I think, is really interesting if you want to start
- 1:35:28Speaker 11: taking that somewhere. But then the more the theory goes on,
- 1:35:31Speaker 11: it's like that Baby Doll doesn't exist. She's the part
- 1:35:34Speaker 11: of Sweet Pea's mind that she, like, brings about to
- 1:35:37Speaker 11: get her out of these situations.
- 1:35:39Speaker 5: That she is the hero that she needs to make
- 1:35:41Speaker 5: her do these things. And then they talk about, they also.
- 1:35:45Speaker 11: I mean, the story got a lot of Flack, even
- 1:35:48Speaker 11: for me, I had issues with the story, saying there
- 1:35:51Speaker 11: wasn't enough story with the girls. Well, now they're saying
- 1:35:53Speaker 11: that the backstory between Babydoll and her sister is Sweet
- 1:35:58Speaker 11: Pea and Rocket's backstory, and that she ends up getting
- 1:36:02Speaker 11: Rocket killed, which is kind of how it goes. I mean,
- 1:36:05Speaker 11: these fictional versions of what happened in her mind are
- 1:36:08Speaker 11: really kind of this mirror reflection of what actually happened
- 1:36:11Speaker 11: that got her there. I mean, all of this is
- 1:36:14Speaker 11: kind of pretty impressive if it's real, if it was
- 1:36:18Speaker 11: plotted out beforehand.
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: I mean, I like throwing it out there either way.
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: I think it's really interesting regardless.
- 1:36:23Speaker 11: But I think it's way more interesting a movie if
- 1:36:27Speaker 11: he put that much thought.
- 1:36:28Speaker 5: Into what he came up with.
- 1:36:30Speaker 11: Because then in the end, it's like you do get
- 1:36:32Speaker 11: the whole lobotomizing portion in. And at that point, then
- 1:36:35Speaker 11: it takes the whole question earlier out of the picture
- 1:36:38Speaker 11: because it doesn't matter.
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: Well, because they.
- 1:36:39Speaker 6: Well, that's the point they compare the lobotomizationist to paradise.
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: It's your freedom. And it's... That's why I thought.
- 1:36:46Speaker 6: That's why I kind of got the impression it was
- 1:36:48Speaker 6: when Sweet Pea got her freedom is that they say,
- 1:36:50Speaker 6: you know, same moment the baby doll got... Because then
- 1:36:52Speaker 6: the fact that they wouldn't show baby doll right after
- 1:36:54Speaker 6: it happened, I'm like, oh, God, it's going to.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: Be Sweet Pea. But I don't know.
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: So then there's... Yeah, there's... People saying that that whole
- 1:37:01Speaker 5: thing isn't.
- 1:37:01Speaker 11: Real and then maybe she escaped and the lobotomy didn't happen.
- 1:37:06Speaker 11: But then there's other schools of thought that are like,
- 1:37:09Speaker 11: the lobotomy happened and the entire story is a figment
- 1:37:12Speaker 11: of the flash that goes through her mind the second
- 1:37:15Speaker 11: before she gets hit.
- 1:37:16Speaker 5: And then none of it took place.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: But they say at the end what she did.
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: They say at the end that she got, you know,
- 1:37:23Speaker 6: two girls killed and she, you know.
- 1:37:24Speaker 5: But are they really talking about her or Sweet Pea?
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: But it doesn't matter which one specifically they're talking about
- 1:37:30Speaker 6: because that stuff still happened. Even if it's Sweet Pea
- 1:37:34Speaker 6: or Baby Doll that did it, that stuff couldn't have
- 1:37:37Speaker 6: all been in her head. The entire thing couldn't have
- 1:37:39Speaker 6: all been in her head if she did get these
- 1:37:41Speaker 6: girls killed and she did get a girl free.
- 1:37:44Speaker 5: I don't remember what point they said that.
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: It was at the very end of the movie when
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: they were talking to the... I don't know who she
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: was talking to.
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: The teacher chick? Carla?
- 1:37:51Speaker 6: Yeah, because when the guy who was asking about the.
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: Signature or whatever... And she was just saying it wasn't
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: her signature.
- 1:37:59Speaker 6: Or they were talking about what had gone on while
- 1:38:02Speaker 6: that girl was there.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: So some of it, to some degree, happened.
- 1:38:07Speaker 6: All right?
- 1:38:09Speaker 11: Again, that's the thing. If nothing else, this makes you
- 1:38:11Speaker 11: want to go back and watch the movie again. Because there's...
- 1:38:14Speaker 11: And that's what I say.
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: There's so much layered into it that you really do
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: need to watch it a couple of times to really
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: kind of get a handle on it. on what all
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: is going on for something that could very easily be
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: dismissed as just a dumb movie with girls in outfits
- 1:38:29Speaker 5: and accessories. and yeah i don't know i think in.
- 1:38:32Speaker 6: Some way it's going to be a downfall to it
- 1:38:33Speaker 6: because people they're that's what they're going to look at
- 1:38:36Speaker 6: and see they're not going to want to see a
- 1:38:38Speaker 6: movie that's got you know a deeper story they're like
- 1:38:41Speaker 6: oh it's chicks running around half naked let's watch.
- 1:38:44Speaker 11: This And that, well, I would say that worked, but
- 1:38:47Speaker 11: it made nothing at the box office, so it didn't work. Like,
- 1:38:49Speaker 11: it wasn't, if that was their plan, it failed, because
- 1:38:53Speaker 11: that angle of it, maybe he should have played up
- 1:38:55Speaker 11: the story more. Maybe he should have made it seem
- 1:38:58Speaker 11: like a deeper movie, because it did terrible at the
- 1:39:01Speaker 11: box office opening weekend, and they said there was like
- 1:39:03Speaker 11: a 70% drop.
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: Off the second week. I don't even think, when we
- 1:39:07Speaker 5: went to the movies last night to see Hannah, it
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: wasn't there anymore. Like, it's gone already.
- 1:39:11Speaker 11: I don't know if it hit second run, maybe, or
- 1:39:13Speaker 11: if it's just totally gotten pulled, but within two weeks.
- 1:39:16Speaker 11: I mean, it completely fell off their radar, and that's
- 1:39:19Speaker 11: sad because... Something that's got this much going on that
- 1:39:22Speaker 11: can bring up this much conversation.
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: And, I mean, that obviously is a movie that's got
- 1:39:26Speaker 5: something to offer. I mean, even if you don't necessarily
- 1:39:29Speaker 5: like it 100%, I mean, it's definitely... But it.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: Doesn't look like it has that much to offer, so
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: it's going to be a hard sell.
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: It's a hard sell.
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: Getting most people to go, because, like.
- 1:39:38Speaker 6: Oh, it's just a stupid action movie with chicks and guns.
- 1:39:41Speaker 6: Which will be like an old person saying it. Teenage
- 1:39:45Speaker 6: boys are going to be like... I don't know.
- 1:39:48Speaker 11: Teenage boys don't want to think about deeper things. They
- 1:39:50Speaker 11: want to see girls in outfits with samurai swords.
- 1:39:53Speaker 5: So, I don't know. I mean, and that's part of it,
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: I guess, is that weird in-between state that it exists
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: in is probably its downfall, because that's why it doesn't
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: find a mass home with anybody. It's like, only geeks
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: who like to talk a whole lot about movies have
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: latched onto it now, but... Everybody else is sort of
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: didn't care or seen it and doesn't care enough to
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: go back and watch it again.
- 1:40:16Speaker 8: So, I don't know.
- 1:40:18Speaker 5: I just thought the whole thing was interesting.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: I have a feeling you're going to find something different
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: in it every time you watch it.
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: Probably.
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: You'll come away with a different opinion of it every
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: time you watch it and a different theory as to
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: what just happened.
- 1:40:28Speaker 5: There's a lot going on there.
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: Hell, I got several theories and only seen one.
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: You know, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:40:32Speaker 11: And there was stuff that I thought going into it
- 1:40:35Speaker 11: and then didn't even think about some of these other ones. So,
- 1:40:38Speaker 11: people are coming up with entirely different theories. I mean, it's...
- 1:40:41Speaker 11: It's just an interesting movie regardless, even if people have
- 1:40:44Speaker 11: issues with it.
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: I still had fun with it, and I still think
- 1:40:47Speaker 5: visually it's amazing, and I kind of want to go
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: back and watch it again and figure out more of
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: the story.
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: It'll be on DVD soon enough.
- 1:40:53Speaker 5: In two weeks, probably, because it's not in theaters now. But, yeah,
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:40:59Speaker 11: I thought that was interesting. And, yeah, I think James,
- 1:41:02Speaker 11: I sent him some of that story, just the basic
- 1:41:04Speaker 11: rundown of that, and he found, like, a version of
- 1:41:07Speaker 11: it online.
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: He was like, okay, I think I'm on board with
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: the sweet peas theory. So I think he's kind of
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: interested in that one now, too. So I think that's
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: good that we've all kind of gotten more out of
- 1:41:20Speaker 5: this than we ever expected to. Now we'll just see
- 1:41:23Speaker 5: what he does with Superman.
- 1:41:24Speaker 6: Oh, God.
- 1:41:26Speaker 5: Lord only knows.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: British Superman, my ass.
- 1:41:29Speaker 5: Is that who? Who did they cast?
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: Some British guy. Henry Cahill? Yeah.
- 1:41:33Speaker 5: I remember they said they cast it, but I don't
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: think I paid that much attention.
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: I probably got his name wrong. I don't care that much.
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: I've never seen a Superman movie in my entire life.
- 1:41:41Speaker 6: Last one, man.
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: I watched with Smallville.
- 1:41:44Speaker 5: Smallville, again. The early days of that was pretty good.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: Michael Rosenbaum was hot.
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: Tom Welling is a hell of a.
- 1:41:51Speaker 11: Again, why didn't they just go ahead and give it
- 1:41:54Speaker 11: to him?
- 1:41:55Speaker 5: He's been auditioning for like nine years now.
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: That show has been on way too fucking long.
- 1:42:00Speaker 5: Yeah, they need to wrap that up a long time ago.
- 1:42:03Speaker 5: But he's so good at it that I'm just like,
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: go ahead and give him the damn franchise. Just give
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: him the movie. He's good at being Superman, obviously. He's
- 1:42:10Speaker 5: been doing it for half his life now.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: Are they still trying to pretend like he's in high school?
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: He's in college.
- 1:42:16Speaker 5: He's probably out by now. He's got a job. He's
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: a big reporter.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: He's in college?
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:42:22Speaker 7: He would have had to if he's going to work
- 1:42:23Speaker 7: for the Daily News or whatever it's called.
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: Not if you have the inside track. You hooked up
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: with the Luthers, you can do whatever the hell you
- 1:42:30Speaker 5: want in that town.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: I wish Luther was hot in that show. Is he
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: even still on that show?
- 1:42:35Speaker 5: I don't know. They wrote him out a while ago.
- 1:42:37Speaker 5: Mostly because Rosenbaum didn't want to come back.
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: I heard he was going to come back for the
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: series finale, but they weren't really sure.
- 1:42:44Speaker 5: It's only a couple weeks off, so we'll see.
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: I won't.
- 1:42:47Speaker 5: His dad came back. I mean, Lionel's back in.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: That guy's a jerk.
- 1:42:52Speaker 5: He's a jerk.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: Don't be shy. We'd like to hear from you.
- 1:43:02Speaker 15: So give us a call at 502-365-5565. Or you can
- 1:43:07Speaker 15: email us at geeksatmoviemeltdown.com. And just stop by the website
- 1:43:11Speaker 15: for our frequent updates. That's moviemeltdown.com.
- 1:43:16Speaker 6: We couldn't remake that movie.
- 1:43:21Speaker 5: They tried to.
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: Drop Dead Fred is Vivian from The Young Ones, right?
- 1:43:26Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:43:27Speaker 5: I know. Not Vivian.
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: Someone in The Young Ones, though.
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: Yeah, it's the other one.
- 1:43:30Speaker 7: It's Rick.
- 1:43:31Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: Yeah, it's Rick Mayhem. But yeah, they were trying to
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: do that with Russell Brand again. I'm hoping it totally
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: fell through.
- 1:43:39Speaker 7: I mean, I feel like there's a lot better. I
- 1:43:41Speaker 7: like Russell Brand. I know everyone here hates Russell Brand.
- 1:43:44Speaker 7: I do.
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: I hate him.
- 1:43:45Speaker 7: I understand that everyone hates Russell Brand, but I mean,
- 1:43:48Speaker 7: I understand they want a quirky British actor, but there
- 1:43:51Speaker 7: are better British actors out there. I mean, fuck, there's
- 1:43:53Speaker 7: a ton of really good British actors that are hilarious.
- 1:43:56Speaker 7: Russell Brand is... I mean, I think it's funny most.
- 1:43:59Speaker 11: People don't... He's not even an actor, though. He just
- 1:44:01Speaker 11: does his thing. Like, there's no acting to it.
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: He just... He has... and he puts it on, and
- 1:44:07Speaker 5: I don't think he puts it on. That's the way
- 1:44:09Speaker 5: he is, and he acts like an idiot.
- 1:44:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I feel like you all really should watch Get
- 1:44:13Speaker 7: Him to the Greek because it doesn't sound like a
- 1:44:15Speaker 7: good movie, but it's really hilarious.
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: I heard a bad review yesterday.
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: Tell me how awesome it is.
- 1:44:20Speaker 5: I heard a bad review yesterday.
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: It's funny.
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: When we also decided that Russell Brand is read at
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: about $ 14. 59. $ 14. 59. His time's about over.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: Dude, now he's at like 16 and a half.
- 1:44:32Speaker 5: Well, I said it gave him an extra year because
- 1:44:34Speaker 5: he's now Mr. Katy Perry. I think he coasted on
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: that for the last year. I don't know. I think
- 1:44:39Speaker 5: people are, especially after Arthur, I think it's going to
- 1:44:42Speaker 5: take him down. Yeah.
- 1:44:43Speaker 7: I mean, I saw this magazine at Meijer the other
- 1:44:46Speaker 7: day that was all about Katy Perry, and I think
- 1:44:48Speaker 7: she's really pretty, so I'm like, oh, Katy Perry.
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: And I'm looking for it.
- 1:44:51Speaker 6: I thought she was way prettier back when she was
- 1:44:52Speaker 6: Zooey Deschanel.
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: Dang.
- 1:44:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:44:56Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:44:57Speaker 5: She is pretty.
- 1:44:57Speaker 16: Okay, sorry.
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I do like Zooey Deschanel much better. Don't get
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: me wrong. But I do think Katy Perry's pretty.
- 1:45:03Speaker 7: But it was like a book all about her, but
- 1:45:06Speaker 7: I swear whoever put the book together hated her guts
- 1:45:08Speaker 7: because it was just like every picture of her at
- 1:45:12Speaker 7: a bad angle with like acne all over her face
- 1:45:14Speaker 7: and a double chin and like.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: Pictures of me is what they put together.
- 1:45:18Speaker 6: No.
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: They were like literally all the pictures... No one can
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: see this, so I'm going to make this face. All
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: the pictures in the book, she was like.
- 1:45:24Speaker 5: Those, and that's the thing, I've seen those kind of
- 1:45:26Speaker 5: magazines before. I think what it is, is those are
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: super low-rent magazines, and they can't afford the big fancy shots. Like,
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: all the ones that make it into big-name magazines, they charge,
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: they're actually done in professional photo shoots, they charge big
- 1:45:40Speaker 5: money to reprint them, they get random paparazzi crap that
- 1:45:44Speaker 5: probably ends up on the internet, or, like, stuff that's just.
- 1:45:46Speaker 7: Maybe they can just buy those photos.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: For cheaper than you can.
- 1:45:49Speaker 5: Yeah, well, I mean, I'm sure they're, like, nothing, because
- 1:45:51Speaker 5: they're terrible. So, I mean, it's like... you just load
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: up on those photos because they're cheap or free and
- 1:45:57Speaker 5: make your stupid book.
- 1:45:58Speaker 11: And yeah, I mean, because they know it's only going
- 1:46:00Speaker 11: to get bought for the next month. And then her,
- 1:46:03Speaker 11: you know, whatever that trend of the moment's over with.
- 1:46:05Speaker 11: So there's no money, you know, there's no point in
- 1:46:07Speaker 11: investing real money in it.
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: So, yeah, but it was funny.
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: Okay, kids, get out your decoder bins.
- 1:46:15Speaker 8: I could tell that tonight's message was really important.
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: Don't you have an Easter special?
- 1:46:20Speaker 6: No.
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: Chicken plucking or something? No.
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: Paka, paka, paka. A-koodle-doodle-doo. A-koodle-doodle-doo. What the hell kind of
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: animal makes those sounds? A retarded animal?
- 1:46:30Speaker 7: Have you seen Arrested Development? Where everyone, like, they're like,
- 1:46:35Speaker 7: come on, chicken!
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: And they all have, like, these completely wrong.
- 1:46:38Speaker 7: sounds sort of chicken sounds like the mom's like a
- 1:46:41Speaker 7: coodle doodle do a coodle doodle do and jobe is
- 1:46:43Speaker 7: like kaka kaka kaka kaka kaka it's so.
- 1:46:48Speaker 6: Funny that's been a while since i've seen that.
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: Wow there you go that's quite a build up for
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: that one who needs a fanfare it is time for
- 1:47:01Speaker 4: the movie lockdown secret circle reveal of the next exciting
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: feature which it actually is i'm looking.
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: Forward to this one If Misty was not escaping the city,
- 1:47:08Speaker 5: she would also be looking forward to it.
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: I got Elvi to go watch.
- 1:47:11Speaker 5: You're going to go stalk some Elvis.
- 1:47:13Speaker 7: Elvi sounds like elves, not like Elvises. Like, I'm going
- 1:47:16Speaker 7: to go to some hobbit convention.
- 1:47:18Speaker 5: Yeah, Lord of the Rings dressed as Orlando.
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: I'm going to an Elvis impersonator contest. Why would you
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: go dressed as Orlando? Shouldn't you go dressed as one
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: of the ladies?
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: No, he's an elf. Everybody loves Orlando in that movie.
- 1:47:31Speaker 7: Oh, okay. I thought you were talking about Misty going
- 1:47:33Speaker 7: dressed up.
- 1:47:34Speaker 5: No, she should still go dressed to the Elvis convention
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: as Orlando Bloom.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: I got my pillowcase that has his face on it,
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: so I just put that over my head.
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: Yeah, just wear it over your head and walk around.
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: See what happens.
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: Walk into stuff.
- 1:47:47Speaker 5: That's the funny part. That's why I'm telling you to
- 1:47:48Speaker 5: do it.
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 1:47:49Speaker 11: You'll be tripping over shit, and I'll be like, I
- 1:47:51Speaker 11: can't believe she did it. So, while you're Elvis-ing the
- 1:47:56Speaker 11: rest of us, we'll be back for... Another first run movie, which,
- 1:47:59Speaker 11: you know, every once in a while we do that.
- 1:48:01Speaker 11: But this one was a big enough return to the
- 1:48:04Speaker 11: theater that I thought we had to see it.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: I'm jealous because I do want to go see this one.
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: I'll probably go see it later.
- 1:48:09Speaker 5: We will be going to see Scream 4.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: Hell yeah.
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: And putting together, hopefully, a pretty decent group discussion. We're
- 1:48:15Speaker 5: trying to get the coffee shop theme going this time,
- 1:48:19Speaker 5: so we'll see. who we can bring on board and
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: discuss the new entry in the Scream series. Wes has
- 1:48:25Speaker 5: come back to beat the horse one more time.
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: So I don't know.
- 1:48:30Speaker 5: And that's kind of why I wanted to go ahead
- 1:48:31Speaker 5: and do that one. I think, good or bad, there's
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: going to be a lot there. There's going to be
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: a lot to look at and see what he has
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: done with the genre, what he's now trying to do
- 1:48:40Speaker 5: that's different, if he's doing anything different. I think there's
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: a lot to look at on that one. So it
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: should be interesting.
- 1:48:47Speaker 7: I once heard a friend say just the other day,
- 1:48:50Speaker 7: I'm not really interested in seeing the new screen because
- 1:48:53Speaker 7: Rose McGowan's not in it and her nipples aren't going
- 1:48:56Speaker 7: to be in it.
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: Because apparently her nipples were hard the whole movie.
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: Pretty sure her nipples weren't in 2 or 3 either.
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 1:49:03Speaker 7: Well, I don't think you bothered to say 2 or 3.
- 1:49:06Speaker 7: But the first one, apparently, they were not, like, actually visible, but.
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: They were the star of the show. They were the star.
- 1:49:13Speaker 5: They kind of were.
- 1:49:14Speaker 7: I don't remember, but I don't really notice things like that.
- 1:49:18Speaker 5: You missing out? At least back then. I don't know
- 1:49:21Speaker 5: if we want to see it now, anyway.
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: I don't know. She looks the same.
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: Kind of, but that's, you know, with a lot of
- 1:49:26Speaker 5: makeup and things holding her in place. A lot of
- 1:49:29Speaker 5: duct tape. Oh, Lord.
- 1:49:33Speaker 11: Anything else to round out this spectacular Easter episode? Eggster
- 1:49:37Speaker 11: special Easter.
- 1:49:39Speaker 5: Any other bad pun you want to work in?
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: Any more animal sounds you want to make?
- 1:49:43Speaker 5: Eggstravaganza. Make a bunny rabbit noise.
- 1:49:48Speaker 6: Go!
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: Yay, I did it.
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: Do bunny rabbits hiss when they're mad?
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: I don't think bunny rabbits are allowed to get mad.
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they get scared and they just have heart attacks.
- 1:49:58Speaker 5: Yeah, they just get eaten by whatever is chasing them.
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: That's how it works.
- 1:50:03Speaker 7: My cousin wants to pet bunny rabbits. And for some reason,
- 1:50:07Speaker 7: she put them in a garbage bag and sat on them.
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: She was only, like, four.
- 1:50:12Speaker 7: But I had to, like, wrestle this four-year-old who was
- 1:50:15Speaker 7: fighting me because she was trying to suffocate and squash
- 1:50:19Speaker 7: her two pet.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: Bunny rabbits at once.
- 1:50:21Speaker 5: This is an uplifting story for Easter.
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: My mom's got a bunny rabbit. It's alive, so she
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: hasn't tried to squish it at all that I know of.
- 1:50:30Speaker 7: Well, my friend once had a bunny rabbit named Hot
- 1:50:32Speaker 7: Action Jackson that her brother got her, and she didn't
- 1:50:34Speaker 7: really want it. But it had this weird, like, neurological problem,
- 1:50:38Speaker 7: and it, like, somehow managed to climb on top of
- 1:50:41Speaker 7: the sewing machine table and fall off and have a
- 1:50:43Speaker 7: seizure and die.
- 1:50:44Speaker 6: My mom's rabbit had babies because when they went to the,
- 1:50:48Speaker 6: they picked up bunnies, they told them that one was
- 1:50:50Speaker 6: a girl, they were both girls, and that was not true.
- 1:50:53Speaker 5: We had that game with hamsters when I was a kid.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: Look at these two girls!
- 1:50:57Speaker 6: We gave one to my aunt, and it cheered through
- 1:51:00Speaker 6: the power cord on her VCR, and it fried itself.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: I'm like, my aunt has six kids. It was probably
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: just trying to get away.
- 1:51:06Speaker 14: Probably.
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: I don't blame you.
- 1:51:09Speaker 3: The end.
- 1:51:10Speaker 5: All right, that about does it. We will return next week.
- 1:51:14Speaker 5: Same geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:51:17Speaker 12: Later, y'all.
- 1:51:18Speaker 5: Hoppies.
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: Hoppies day. Oh, God, that's horrible. I told you.
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: Bad puns. Come on.
- 1:51:27Speaker 18: Aged upon the way. As he held his head straight
- 1:51:35Speaker 18: Making plans upon the favorite and their boat Torn to
- 1:51:47Speaker 18: rest As he stood upon his nest Taking chance upon
- 1:51:56Speaker 18: a chest that had beaten dry.
- 1:52:00Speaker 17: I keep my soul, my head's not coming back. My soul,
- 1:52:33Speaker 17: my head's not coming.
- 1:52:54Speaker 5: No, I don't intend to.
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: Be the falling light.
- 1:52:57Speaker 5: I fight to keep them whole.
- 1:52:59Speaker 18: I watch them dance upon.
- 1:53:01Speaker 5: The ceiling to compete their song.
- 1:53:03Speaker 17: It's not enough, my friends, to relegate.
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: Let's keep them on their toes.
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: Let's keep the biggest from their bones. The tears and the.
- 1:53:11Speaker 17: Rabbits in their bones.
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: Oh, no. The rabbits in their bones.
