- 0:59Speaker 3: special guests in here, the legend tash tash what's going on?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Oh man, same fight, dimming around, just working man, working, working, working, just.
- 1:11Speaker 2: As people might know, and everything from the group of alcoholics,
- 1:15Speaker 2: of course, and as people might know that a lot
- 1:17Speaker 2: of that that that living up to the image caught
- 1:20Speaker 2: up to me.
- 1:20Speaker 3: So are you trying to tell me that a member
- 1:23Speaker 3: of the alcoholics is not drinking as much as.
- 1:25Speaker 1: This sober halics that's what we call it. You guys
- 1:27Speaker 1: are sober holics.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Now, we don't really drink like that.
- 1:29Speaker 2: When that it took a toll like twenty something years
- 1:32Speaker 2: of just every single night as a party, every single
- 1:35Speaker 2: day you wake up as a party, every time you
- 1:37Speaker 2: got something you know to do that day. Uh, you know,
- 1:41Speaker 2: drinking is involved with it some kind of way. So
- 1:43Speaker 2: you know, I had to, you know, kick back and
- 1:46Speaker 2: and pull on the rains like Santa Claus slowed down
- 1:48Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 1:49Speaker 3: So I always wondered this because you guys are amazing
- 1:55Speaker 3: m season. I mean you, I mean, damn dude. You
- 1:58Speaker 3: guys got classic albums. You guys have your fingerprints on
- 2:01Speaker 3: so much of this West Coast shit that people don't
- 2:03Speaker 3: even realize it's insane. But was ever a certain point
- 2:06Speaker 3: in time where y'all got like two or three albums
- 2:08Speaker 3: in where you were like, I know, because I know
- 2:10Speaker 3: you guys went from the Alcoholics to the Licks right right,
- 2:13Speaker 3: were you guys regretted just going all in with the
- 2:16Speaker 3: alcoholics thing?
- 2:17Speaker 2: I mean, you know, with a name like the Alcoholics.
- 2:20Speaker 2: First of all, we was a young group, kind of
- 2:21Speaker 2: sure and everything, so people miscing screwed the word alcoholics
- 2:25Speaker 2: with like the bomb in the streets, with the little
- 2:27Speaker 2: you know, the three dollars vodka and all this. You know,
- 2:29Speaker 2: they they took the name and we got boycott, not boycott,
- 2:33Speaker 2: but we called it. We got banned from a lot
- 2:34Speaker 2: of shit like we had. We got invited to Soul
- 2:37Speaker 2: Train and then we showed up there and they saw
- 2:40Speaker 2: the name and they was like, hold on, we can't
- 2:42Speaker 2: put Alcoholics on national TV. And like we we couldn't
- 2:45Speaker 2: tour with trycoll Quest through the Bible Belt because of
- 2:47Speaker 2: the name, and a lot of TV shows and shit
- 2:49Speaker 2: turned it down because it was like we're trying to
- 2:52Speaker 2: get away from the negative word alcoholics, you know what
- 2:55Speaker 2: I'm saying. But we spelled it different and told motherfuckers
- 2:57Speaker 2: that we you know, we're really anti drinking and driving.
- 3:00Speaker 2: We had a lot of positive ship to say too,
- 3:02Speaker 2: but that get overlooked.
- 3:03Speaker 3: You know, but did you did you guys? I mean,
- 3:05Speaker 3: obviously everyone should be getting triagered to driving, but I
- 3:08Speaker 3: can imagine once you guys start losing out on ship,
- 3:10Speaker 3: it's like okay.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but see that's whatened that ship backfire too, because
- 3:14Speaker 2: when we I don't know if somebody's idea was, let's
- 3:17Speaker 2: change the name. Since they called us the Licks. You know,
- 3:19Speaker 2: it's the Licks, baby, it's the Licks. They call us
- 3:21Speaker 2: that anyway, let's change the name officially to the Alcoholics.
- 3:24Speaker 2: So we did that for one album, which was a
- 3:28Speaker 2: disaster because nobody that really fucked with us on the
- 3:31Speaker 2: alcohol you know what I'm saying with the experience, right yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 2: XO experience, we call ourselves the Licks, and it did
- 3:36Speaker 2: not work because we got no more you know, say,
- 3:38Speaker 2: we didn't get it else that we wasn't getting as
- 3:41Speaker 2: the Alcoholics.
- 3:42Speaker 3: So that was the last album on Loud.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I don't know, I get I get mixed up, man,
- 3:48Speaker 2: but that was that was the single. Yeah you can yeh,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and actually it was it wasn't. That was the most
- 3:55Speaker 2: selling single that we ever put out. It was one
- 3:57Speaker 2: that tongue vibe for sure.
- 4:00Speaker 3: So and that was like, oh one, I don't it
- 4:05Speaker 3: was around I'm just trying to think of my head
- 4:06Speaker 3: what year of school I was in.
- 4:08Speaker 1: We we've been over here.
- 4:09Speaker 2: We got signed in ninety three, so a lot of
- 4:12Speaker 2: the dates and times and like that due to you
- 4:14Speaker 2: know what, I was all this. I get mixed up
- 4:18Speaker 2: because I know time pierce. Like when we told with
- 4:20Speaker 2: Big I know that was ninety six, ninety five before
- 4:24Speaker 2: he passed, right, And then it's kind of like it's
- 4:28Speaker 2: kind of like I get things. I got all the
- 4:31Speaker 2: memories of my head, but the day got time.
- 4:32Speaker 3: You got to like work backwards, you remember what.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I got to remember a physical thing, what was happening
- 4:37Speaker 2: right then to know what day and time it was?
- 4:39Speaker 3: Though? How did you Eat Swift and Jerrow initially meet
- 4:41Speaker 3: back in the day.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Man East Swift?
- 4:45Speaker 2: We was We was already rocking as a group called
- 4:48Speaker 2: Task Is Swift in the eighties and East Swift met
- 4:52Speaker 2: Jay roll Through. I don't know if it was cousin
- 4:55Speaker 2: keV or we got home with named cousin Kevin. I
- 4:58Speaker 2: think he bought Jo to the table and we met
- 5:01Speaker 2: J Rowd.
- 5:01Speaker 3: That's what.
- 5:01Speaker 2: That's what the King T's and the you know mixed
- 5:04Speaker 2: Matter of Space DJ Pools and we started you know,
- 5:06Speaker 2: running with them, and it just turned into were just
- 5:09Speaker 2: part of the you know we Telor wanted to do
- 5:11Speaker 2: a Taylor's King T by the way, he wanted to
- 5:15Speaker 2: do like a posse thing like he was.
- 5:17Speaker 1: He had an album coming out and.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Instead of That's why I always say We're forever grateful
- 5:22Speaker 2: Tuning because instead of putting out his single as just
- 5:26Speaker 2: King T and everything, he said, nah, I got this
- 5:27Speaker 2: group called the Alcoholics.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I want to put them on.
- 5:29Speaker 2: So his first single on the Active Full album or
- 5:33Speaker 2: the Trifling album, he featured the Alcoholics. And really that's
- 5:36Speaker 2: how we got our start and never looked back, and.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Never looked back. Where year was that? What youre was
- 5:41Speaker 3: the King T? Well, I guess you would have to
- 5:43Speaker 3: do a lot of drunken DISCREMT.
- 5:45Speaker 1: No, we started, we started runing with King T.
- 5:48Speaker 2: The first time I really kicked it with him was
- 5:50Speaker 2: the act of full videos at the liquor Store.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I'm in that motherfucker somewhere. It says I got to
- 5:56Speaker 1: look back.
- 5:56Speaker 2: But from that point on and then East Swift got
- 5:59Speaker 2: hired on a random He was already DJing for Me
- 6:03Speaker 2: and Jro. Me and Jael had a demo you know
- 6:05Speaker 2: this and that, and King T had a DJ named
- 6:07Speaker 2: Keith Cooley.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I know you've rather the name Keith Cooley.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Yeah, she shot out on the thing. And I don't
- 6:13Speaker 1: know what happened with Keith Cooley.
- 6:14Speaker 2: But the night before Teeler was going on tour with
- 6:17Speaker 2: n W A Scarface, I mean n W A Ghetto
- 6:20Speaker 2: Boys and all this, something happened with Keith Cooley.
- 6:23Speaker 3: With Tiler needed to DJ, and Swift.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Just happened to be over there cutting his head because
- 6:26Speaker 2: Swift he good on the cuts, but he cuts, you know,
- 6:30Speaker 2: so he he basically was cutting King T's hair. It's
- 6:34Speaker 2: God's work and shit, Tiler needed the DJ right then,
- 6:38Speaker 2: so he Swift went to go cut.
- 6:40Speaker 3: King T's hair, came back with a DJ and job.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah, and he packed his ship up because I was
- 6:44Speaker 2: living with Swift and it's pops and ship at the time,
- 6:47Speaker 2: and so he packed his shit up and went on
- 6:49Speaker 2: the road with King T and never looked back.
- 6:51Speaker 3: You know, that is amazing. So when I was a kid.
- 6:55Speaker 3: My best friend's name is rams. It's Rockers little brother
- 6:59Speaker 3: from Dilated. I know, I know, yes, So listen. So
- 7:02Speaker 3: Ramses came to LA when he was sixteen seventeen. I'm
- 7:08Speaker 3: like twelve. So he's died brother too, yeah, like baby
- 7:12Speaker 3: and buddy and everybody. So yeah, so listen. So he
- 7:16Speaker 3: comes back from LA and he's like, Yo, my brother's
- 7:19Speaker 3: in this rapt because you know, Rock's dad is Pope,
- 7:23Speaker 3: had a lot of children, you know what I'm saying.
- 7:25Speaker 3: So he comes he comes back from this trip to
- 7:27Speaker 3: beat his brother and shit. And then he's telling me
- 7:30Speaker 3: and he's like, bro, I was hanging out with the
- 7:31Speaker 3: exhibiting alcoholics and and did one of y'all have an iraq?
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yeah? He's like I had a gold thing.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 3: So so I'm hearing all this shit and not at
- 7:43Speaker 3: the time, I'm like twelve years old, you know what
- 7:44Speaker 3: I'm saying. And uh. And so that's when I got
- 7:48Speaker 3: like exposed to like the liquor cruit thing, you know
- 7:50Speaker 3: what I'm saying. And then I met Raka like right
- 7:52Speaker 3: when the platform dropped. Wow. And then when an expansion
- 7:56Speaker 3: team came out, we took a road trip out here
- 7:58Speaker 3: and we went to like uh Fat Beats, and we
- 8:01Speaker 3: went to the I'm Released party and it was just
- 8:04Speaker 3: but but I got so like I was like entrenched
- 8:07Speaker 3: and being like a fan of like y'all exhibit and
- 8:11Speaker 3: obviously Dilated and all that ship and yeah. So it's
- 8:15Speaker 3: like it's crazy because you because Liquid Crew has so
- 8:17Speaker 3: much to do with like so much amazing parts of
- 8:21Speaker 3: like la hip hop. You know what I'm saying. Between
- 8:23Speaker 3: you guys obviously King T the Architect and the Far Eye,
- 8:26Speaker 3: and you know, I feel like Dilate is kind of
- 8:28Speaker 3: like quasi Liquid Crew. Yeah.
- 8:30Speaker 1: They I don't know if there was a liquor Crew,
- 8:32Speaker 1: but they be everywhere.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Like you open up that Focused Daily booklet, you see
- 8:36Speaker 3: evidence in there with a lot of hair and rockets
- 8:38Speaker 3: in there. Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I still keep a tune with EV all the time
- 8:42Speaker 2: and we're working on something actually. But I'm just proud
- 8:46Speaker 2: of them, you know what I'm saying, because we all
- 8:48Speaker 2: kind of started together, right and I see what V
- 8:51Speaker 2: went well, RockA went with, the group went with this
- 8:53Speaker 2: and that, and you know it's it's amazing. I like
- 8:56Speaker 2: to watch It's like watching a plant grow. It takes
- 8:58Speaker 2: some time. But as you see it, you know, and
- 9:01Speaker 2: I just think that like EB is underrated man, oh
- 9:05Speaker 2: my god.
- 9:05Speaker 3: For sure. It's almost like he hates being Like Evidence
- 9:09Speaker 3: is such a talented guy. He would prefer to just
- 9:13Speaker 3: make music and no one knew who the fuck he
- 9:14Speaker 3: is exactly.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Like that's what it is, like he he's like an
- 9:19Speaker 2: introvert for sure, you know, talented.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Shout out to Alchemist too, it.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Was yeah, man, shout out my favorite producers right now
- 9:27Speaker 3: for sure. So, uh, you guys, how at what point
- 9:31Speaker 3: in time? Because signing Aloud in nineteen ninety three is very,
- 9:34Speaker 3: very very early. That's pre wou Tang.
- 9:37Speaker 2: That's why I might think were the first group, but
- 9:39Speaker 2: technically we not, though who is uh let me see?
- 9:42Speaker 2: Uh it was a group called mad Cap okay, okay,
- 9:45Speaker 2: drop the album before we did, and then they signed
- 9:47Speaker 2: Twisted and Twisted what happy with his contact?
- 9:50Speaker 1: He said, fuck this shit, he did his own thing,
- 9:52Speaker 1: so we can't.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Right after that, So that's crazy ninety three. That's like
- 9:56Speaker 3: that's like ground floor loud record shit.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I still talked to Steve. You know
- 10:02Speaker 2: a lot of loud records in the house last night.
- 10:05Speaker 2: There was was there in case. I know, we went
- 10:09Speaker 2: to the exhibits album release party last night. He was
- 10:11Speaker 2: it was text but what.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Was I saying?
- 10:15Speaker 2: All the like it was a whole Loud section there
- 10:18Speaker 2: was Yeah, so no shout out, Noah, Oti Arlene, a
- 10:22Speaker 2: bunch of people from Loud.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Like so, you guys like it's crazy because we think
- 10:26Speaker 3: of Loud as like such a East Coast label and
- 10:29Speaker 3: of course, like obviously in spirit it is and you know, tang,
- 10:33Speaker 3: big pun, et cetera, et cetera. But you're one of
- 10:35Speaker 3: the first groups exhibit is you know, at the speed
- 10:40Speaker 3: of life, restless, forty days, forty nights. What what How
- 10:45Speaker 3: did you guys end up getting like Steve Steve's attention
- 10:49Speaker 3: and like like was that something where he was like
- 10:51Speaker 3: out out west looking for talent or about us? Yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 3: let me get this story straight too.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Basically it was a guy about the name of Fabi
- 11:00Speaker 1: and Dub.
- 11:01Speaker 2: We called him Fade and he was real close with
- 11:03Speaker 2: Swift us you know this, and that he's a love
- 11:05Speaker 2: war ship.
- 11:06Speaker 1: We to make these demos and you know, me and
- 11:08Speaker 1: Je was the flood, the l a underground seeing.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Swift was a DJ. He was a popular DJ. He
- 11:13Speaker 2: was getting booked for like colleges us. We're young though,
- 11:17Speaker 2: So basically we went to mad Cap was already on Loud,
- 11:22Speaker 2: and we went to a studio session in Pasadenas somewhere,
- 11:26Speaker 2: and during that studio session we played Fade the demo
- 11:29Speaker 2: and he was like Steve Ripkins right hand man at
- 11:31Speaker 2: the time. Actually, first he got us to deal with
- 11:34Speaker 2: He got us a deal with Freeway Rick. Yes, Freeway
- 11:37Speaker 2: Rick not Rick Wall.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Was the one who interviewed I've interviewed Freeway Rick Ross too.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I just saw him at Snoop Savanthia the other night,
- 11:44Speaker 3: no big extras event. But yeah, so you guys actually
- 11:46Speaker 3: had to deal with Freeway Cross first.
- 11:48Speaker 2: If you look on Drink Champs and all the rest
- 11:50Speaker 2: of the podcasts that he do, he alway shout us out.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I was just close to the alcoholics.
- 11:54Speaker 2: But what happened was he got locked up right you know,
- 11:56Speaker 2: during this time, and he called from prison and he
- 12:00Speaker 2: heard through the grapevine and we had some something else
- 12:01Speaker 2: going on with this Loud record label or something like that.
- 12:05Speaker 2: It was his blessing. He said, man, go get it.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I don't want to nothe just just take it to
- 12:08Speaker 2: the top. You know, and this and that, and but
- 12:11Speaker 2: then he ended up getting out this and that, so
- 12:14Speaker 2: you know, shout out freeway with man. I just see
- 12:16Speaker 2: him in Vegas about I don't know how long ago,
- 12:18Speaker 2: but you know.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I know he had told me he was
- 12:21Speaker 3: doing he was doing some like back behind the scenes
- 12:24Speaker 3: financing on some big artists too, like I think you
- 12:26Speaker 3: need a baker, like a lot of.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Real like he always got his hands in something. He
- 12:30Speaker 2: was selling his book. Well that what I said, taking
- 12:32Speaker 2: me a free book.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a hustler, bro, that's evident. But no, but yeah,
- 12:39Speaker 3: I mean obviously, I mean he's known for that. They
- 12:41Speaker 3: kind of stole his life story and did the TV
- 12:43Speaker 3: show great show, by the way, a great show. You
- 12:48Speaker 3: guys end up with loud. At what point in time
- 12:52Speaker 3: does exhibit come into the fold, And obviously you guys
- 12:56Speaker 3: had to have kind of made that introduction. I'm assuming because.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I think I don't remember the how you can I
- 13:03Speaker 2: remember that the Ziba was a he was aggressive, you
- 13:06Speaker 2: know what I'm saying.
- 13:07Speaker 1: And every time I have seen we want.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Some MC ship and Ziba used to get down like
- 13:12Speaker 2: he really like he he looked like that, but he
- 13:15Speaker 2: had like this path he had like a he was
- 13:17Speaker 2: smarter than a lot of people, you know what I mean,
- 13:19Speaker 2: Like he already knew what he wanted. We freestyle of life,
- 13:22Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like we get picked up
- 13:24Speaker 2: by a label, that's cool.
- 13:24Speaker 1: If not, we're gonna do this. Unlet's see what happens
- 13:27Speaker 1: with this.
- 13:27Speaker 3: And that's a crazy statement. We freestyle of life. Yeah,
- 13:30Speaker 3: I like that. Here we are, it's worked out.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so you know Zif he we we we were
- 13:38Speaker 2: just hanging around the underground circles and we all just
- 13:40Speaker 2: saw some MENI like and this and that, and he started,
- 13:43Speaker 2: you know, really hanging around with us. We start going
- 13:45Speaker 2: up to you know, Friday night flavors and all these
- 13:48Speaker 2: different things serving on them, and then we've got the
- 13:50Speaker 2: serving people in the clubs and it was just.
- 13:53Speaker 3: That when you used to like see rappers like rapping outside.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Once he became the yes zhibit man, he was like
- 14:01Speaker 2: he he I never seen nobody with a with a
- 14:05Speaker 2: determination is out the world for this, Like like he
- 14:08Speaker 2: knew he knew all this ship the ZIPB is doing
- 14:10Speaker 2: now he told us he was going to do this.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Then that was his plan.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Like we didn't have no plan and shout out to
- 14:16Speaker 2: his dad too was a big part of that too,
- 14:17Speaker 2: because he got a guidance with the military, upbringing and
- 14:21Speaker 2: stuff like that. Destructure I ain't never had no structure
- 14:25Speaker 2: like that. My dad got murdered when I was young,
- 14:27Speaker 2: you know, so I kind of been freestyle in that life,
- 14:30Speaker 2: you know, freestyle of life ever since. But shout out
- 14:33Speaker 2: Exhibit His album came out yesterday.
- 14:36Speaker 3: It's incredible.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Yeah, we went to the ship.
- 14:38Speaker 2: I'm I'm in my fifties, but man, we hit three
- 14:41Speaker 2: parties last night. Man, we went to Exhibits first, then
- 14:45Speaker 2: we went to Snoop Dogg party, and then we went
- 14:47Speaker 2: to the Busy.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I'm tripping. That's the day before yesterday.
- 14:50Speaker 3: That's all.
- 14:50Speaker 2: You ain't been asleep, But I say we were the
- 14:52Speaker 2: three live ass parties in one night.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, because Exhibited two Things did one of
- 14:57Speaker 3: the night before, and then Snoop did yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Night before we went to Zibit Things. We went to
- 15:02Speaker 1: Snoop Dogg Things.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Shout out snow Too returned my text snope and I
- 15:06Speaker 2: saw y'all say what up?
- 15:07Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, so and then.
- 15:09Speaker 2: We went to uh the Far Side and the hieroglyphic.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I mean the Souls of Mischief went platinum the same week,
- 15:17Speaker 2: like two weeks ago.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Oh shit, so they had a big party for them.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Shout out shinne swoops, rise casts will I am.
- 15:24Speaker 3: That's crazy. I didn't know that that was it. I
- 15:25Speaker 3: would have went to that party too, funck shout to
- 15:27Speaker 3: the far side and hiro.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Yeah, let's say that's how the shit be tripping me out, Like,
- 15:31Speaker 2: how y'all go platinum the same week thirty years later?
- 15:35Speaker 2: I thought it passing me by ben platinum long time ago.
- 15:38Speaker 3: But you know what it is, a lot of those
- 15:39Speaker 3: like older records, they're probably technically platinum in gold. It's
- 15:44Speaker 3: the label they have to like there's some sort of
- 15:49Speaker 3: like where the label has to reach out to oria
- 15:52Speaker 3: A to make sure it's certified. That like because my
- 15:55Speaker 3: homie had a record, they're actually up on the wall
- 15:57Speaker 3: over there. They're both gold and like they were gold
- 15:59Speaker 3: forever and uh, but he was waiting on his label
- 16:03Speaker 3: to like, I don't know, make get a certified or whatever.
- 16:06Speaker 3: But yeah, like passing me by should be fucking platinum,
- 16:10Speaker 3: Like what are we talking about?
- 16:11Speaker 2: While I was assuming and then on top of that,
- 16:13Speaker 2: it's like like like how do you judge, Like, how
- 16:16Speaker 2: do you like there's no more physical copies, So if
- 16:18Speaker 2: you sold eight hundred thousand physical copies, what are they
- 16:21Speaker 2: selling now to make.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Yeah that I don't there's a certain amount of streams
- 16:25Speaker 3: that equal and album sale. I want to say it's
- 16:28Speaker 3: I want to say it's fifteen hundred strings equals on album.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Sale fifteen other strange.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I don't want to be don't put that in black
- 16:35Speaker 3: and white, but I think it's something like that.
- 16:36Speaker 2: That's ridiculous. But anyway, we need to take our shit back.
- 16:38Speaker 2: That's what I say.
- 16:39Speaker 3: That's why it's like, you know, like the direct to
- 16:41Speaker 3: fan ship is making a comeback. You know where it's
- 16:44Speaker 3: like if you got a fan base, like fuck the platforms,
- 16:47Speaker 3: Like obviously you want your ship up for everybody, but
- 16:50Speaker 3: you want to be able to like have that direct
- 16:53Speaker 3: connection to fans where they spend money with you.
- 16:56Speaker 2: You don't you have to be doing right now? We
- 16:58Speaker 2: ask that right now. I got a whole independent thing
- 17:00Speaker 2: going on. Did you hear the record?
- 17:03Speaker 3: Yes? I love the video by the way, Okay, yeah,
- 17:08Speaker 3: did a great job.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Shot out to Nate, Nate the great bag God, my
- 17:13Speaker 2: husband and wife.
- 17:14Speaker 3: That's what I appreciate it. Yeah, yeah, I mean you're back,
- 17:19Speaker 3: man said, I see you running around.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying to, you know, get back into Google because,
- 17:23Speaker 2: like I said, I took a little hiatus just to
- 17:24Speaker 2: get my shit together, you know, sober holic, Yeah, smokaholic, smokaholics.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, but no, it's crazy because like I you know, uh,
- 17:35Speaker 3: I think back to like your your like uh when
- 17:41Speaker 3: I think atash bro used to be like a superhero
- 17:44Speaker 3: to me, dog like he used to be with it
- 17:47Speaker 3: now like for like Wrap Life is one of the
- 17:48Speaker 3: most fucking and it's a perfect album. It's a fucking classic.
- 17:52Speaker 3: It's it's one of them ones man. Yeah, and it's
- 17:57Speaker 3: slept on like for people who don't know, like go
- 17:59Speaker 3: fucking go run and get tash rap Life. That ship
- 18:02Speaker 3: is from track one to the end. It is amazing.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Ple check that man shout out the same mooning Malik Levy,
- 18:09Speaker 2: Steve Riskin, Rich, Isaacson.
- 18:12Speaker 3: What because that came after Liquidation, right, because Liquidation came
- 18:17Speaker 3: out and then at the time table Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 3: it came out after Liquidation.
- 18:21Speaker 1: It came out after yeah, yeah, yeah, because I.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Want to say rap Life was ninety nine. It was yeah,
- 18:27Speaker 3: so you do that.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I got a song called smoke Fest ninety nine on it.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Cast shout, I was gonna say without cast I was
- 18:32Speaker 1: looking right there.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Okay, yes, sir? What what what was the thought process
- 18:38Speaker 3: you guys? Drop Liquidation? Uh? Hip Hop Drunkies was a
- 18:41Speaker 3: big record for you guys? Shout at what I want
- 18:43Speaker 3: to get into that too? What what what motivated you
- 18:47Speaker 3: to say I gotta I gotta get a solo one off?
- 18:49Speaker 2: I mean to tell you the two we started out
- 18:51Speaker 2: as solo artists as before, right, I met Jo and
- 18:55Speaker 2: everything and the funny Boy bout me and j was
- 18:57Speaker 2: never supposed to do out group, but none of thee
- 18:59Speaker 2: It was like Task.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Was over here, j Row was over here. We have
- 19:02Speaker 3: other people's crew.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a crew. And then we made a demo.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Called I Guess Funky, and we did one called Past
- 19:10Speaker 2: the Joint And I had to be like eighty eight
- 19:12Speaker 2: eighty nine or something like this.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Yeah, are old? I was born in eighty seven?
- 19:17Speaker 1: Are you serious? God? Damn, that's where the baby face
- 19:20Speaker 1: come from. Then?
- 19:21Speaker 2: All right, well but anyway, we did this demo tape.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Oh no, actually we did a song called I Guess
- 19:27Speaker 2: Funky and we used the Roger like the the sample
- 19:31Speaker 2: from Rogers Zapp and Roger. People went crazy for the song,
- 19:35Speaker 2: so they said, may y'all got to do more.
- 19:37Speaker 1: So we did a couple. We did one called Past
- 19:39Speaker 1: the Joints.
- 19:39Speaker 2: So we was ahead of the curve before all the weed,
- 19:42Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, like, uh, past the joint
- 19:46Speaker 2: And then it was unanimous, like everybody was like, y'all
- 19:49Speaker 2: sound so different that y'all should do more shit together
- 19:52Speaker 2: because it's like, you know, when you hear groups and
- 19:53Speaker 2: ship like that's in effects and a lot of groups
- 19:57Speaker 2: they rapped, you can tell they have the same day
- 19:59Speaker 2: in the group because they rapped similar you know what
- 20:00Speaker 2: I'm saying, like EPM D. You know, of course, so
- 20:03Speaker 2: j Row style and my style was like ying and
- 20:06Speaker 2: yang night and day or whatever whatever, So you know,
- 20:09Speaker 2: I think that's what made people pay attention to it.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Kind of yeah, you know, rap life was like, uh man,
- 20:17Speaker 3: just stellar, stellar body of work.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Actually, Steve Ripkins Pops Jewels had a lot to do
- 20:24Speaker 2: with that too. A word Western piece, Yes, you know,
- 20:27Speaker 2: that's who got me over there. On Sony You all this,
- 20:29Speaker 2: but Rap Life was like a I was trying to
- 20:33Speaker 2: do something I was trying to do. I had a
- 20:34Speaker 2: concept for the album because, like you said, everybody thought
- 20:37Speaker 2: it was from New York and so what I wanted
- 20:40Speaker 2: to do was show people that we cool with New
- 20:43Speaker 2: Yorkers and we got a style from the West Coast
- 20:45Speaker 2: that they love over there.
- 20:46Speaker 3: So I was trying to unify this city or whatever.
- 20:48Speaker 3: R right, Well, ray Ward was on the album, you right.
- 20:50Speaker 2: If We started out with a lot of the alcoholic
- 20:55Speaker 2: wool tang mob d of course Big One, so we
- 21:01Speaker 2: we we're cool with all these new and they got
- 21:03Speaker 2: an LA office, so we used to be up there
- 21:04Speaker 2: every day. You know what I'm saying. But what was
- 21:08Speaker 2: I saying that was that was the beauty of it.
- 21:09Speaker 2: It was like we had this East Coast, you know,
- 21:12Speaker 2: international love and everything. They ain't really like gangster rapper
- 21:15Speaker 2: kind of pigeonhole for LA, Like this is what LA
- 21:17Speaker 2: sounds like.
- 21:18Speaker 3: No, for sure, you guys had your own thing going.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Each Swift on the beach, Yes, and then with Rap
- 21:22Speaker 2: Life and everything. What I tried to do was I
- 21:25Speaker 2: wanted to come with a single myself. This one song,
- 21:29Speaker 2: remember the song on there when I with the actually
- 21:32Speaker 2: Doctor Dan and the exhibit and ended up using it.
- 21:34Speaker 2: But I have one first, but the Dunk Dune d D.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I had a song that was about to be my single,
- 21:42Speaker 2: and then I don't know how it happened, but rock
- 21:45Speaker 2: Wiler that we with Redman and them did the beat.
- 21:48Speaker 2: So we had it all set up for me that
- 21:49Speaker 2: to be my single, and then all of a sudden,
- 21:51Speaker 2: Snooping and dropped the.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Dre dropped the same.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Champel was like, hold up time, we can't do this.
- 21:57Speaker 2: So we had to go back to the drawing board
- 21:58Speaker 2: and I said, let's do the one with Ray Kuan.
- 22:01Speaker 2: And what the plan was. I was gonna come up
- 22:03Speaker 2: with the song with Ray Kuan, let him know that
- 22:05Speaker 2: you know.
- 22:05Speaker 3: We the song is actually called rap like it's called
- 22:08Speaker 3: rap Life.
- 22:09Speaker 2: And then I wanted to come right back with the
- 22:10Speaker 2: song I did with Snooping them Snoop, I mean snoop zip.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I did a song called Jesus G's with Me Snoop
- 22:16Speaker 2: corrupt zibit. And I'm trying to sew you know that
- 22:20Speaker 2: that I get down with anybody, you know, no matter
- 22:22Speaker 2: who it is, and that said backfire. Once I did that,
- 22:25Speaker 2: everyone I dropped this ta with Ray Kuan. Everybody's thinking
- 22:29Speaker 2: I'm from New York for some reason, even though I
- 22:30Speaker 2: filmed it right here Inglewood.
- 22:32Speaker 1: That the race track is crazy, got.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Dayton's and all kinds of la sitting there, they still
- 22:36Speaker 2: say he wants me from New York. So I don't
- 22:38Speaker 2: know what they had to do with anything else, but
- 22:41Speaker 2: I got that stamp a long time ago.
- 22:43Speaker 3: What you guys have been on some legendary tours you
- 22:48Speaker 3: mentioned obviously to him with Big Right. I remember you
- 22:51Speaker 3: guys to Wutang too right, Yeah Tang? And what was
- 22:55Speaker 3: the other it was? Who else was on that tour
- 22:58Speaker 3: that was just allowed?
- 22:58Speaker 2: When it was on the first tour with Wo saying
- 23:00Speaker 2: I was a promotional tour And imagine like you got
- 23:04Speaker 2: twelve like I saw.
- 23:04Speaker 3: You guys did like a huge festival. I feel like
- 23:08Speaker 3: that was like.
- 23:08Speaker 1: We do a lot of shit that people don't. It
- 23:10Speaker 1: goes under the radar. I don't know why.
- 23:12Speaker 3: What was it like though, you're the West Coast group,
- 23:15Speaker 3: but you're touring with Big Right. This is after Ready
- 23:19Speaker 3: to Die.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Yes, First of all, House Biggie, he only had two
- 23:22Speaker 2: albums First of all, what's that like, Biggie.
- 23:25Speaker 1: That's why, man, when all the.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Static and the beef and all the East West shit
- 23:30Speaker 2: and all that shit, you gotta understand that we don't
- 23:32Speaker 2: build like long lasting relationships with people from the East
- 23:36Speaker 2: before that. So we wasn't we wasn't about to just
- 23:39Speaker 2: jump in because really I knew that it was not
- 23:41Speaker 2: true about the Biggie setting up Pock and all that.
- 23:44Speaker 2: We know that was bullshit off the rip. So we
- 23:47Speaker 2: just you know, basically, we just played, you know, I
- 23:49Speaker 2: played the fence. We just played the background when it
- 23:51Speaker 2: was jumping. Because they asked us to go on this
- 23:54Speaker 2: tour and they hand picked us, you know what I mean.
- 23:57Speaker 2: So they got love for the West Coast, but I don't.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I don't get another people's politics and shit like that.
- 24:02Speaker 2: But it was weird because it was the only West
- 24:04Speaker 2: Coast group on the tour.
- 24:06Speaker 3: How as big as a dude though, man.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Like hilarious, man like you know, like he was the
- 24:10Speaker 2: biggest King T fan. He used to tell us every
- 24:13Speaker 2: day like like where's King T.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I'll come in here with you. I forgot why wasn't on
- 24:17Speaker 1: the tour.
- 24:17Speaker 2: But Biggie was like reciting his lyrics every day like
- 24:21Speaker 2: he was like a super duper you know, king t fan.
- 24:25Speaker 3: You know, did he ever try to hang with you
- 24:27Speaker 3: guys when they came to drinking?
- 24:29Speaker 2: Nah, he knew better than that. But he's a smoke
- 24:31Speaker 2: a lot. I see, he wasn't known as a drinker.
- 24:35Speaker 2: He smoked, and back then I wasn't really smoking that much,
- 24:37Speaker 2: so I'd be high drunk.
- 24:39Speaker 1: You know. We got a lot of tours like.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and then uh, you guys obviously have
- 24:47Speaker 3: such a great relationship and working relationship with Woo. I
- 24:51Speaker 3: know y'all kind of helped helped get them on the
- 24:55Speaker 3: on the radar alloud and ship od Uh. I feel
- 25:02Speaker 3: like was kind of like I feel like he was
- 25:06Speaker 3: like your spirit animal, Like when like in a weird
- 25:09Speaker 3: like reverse universe, ODB and Tash on a record could
- 25:13Speaker 3: have been the same person, Like you guys have like
- 25:15Speaker 3: a very unique style of rapping and like very like
- 25:17Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Like that's so well, what
- 25:21Speaker 3: was what was it like? Just just just being being
- 25:23Speaker 3: close with a guy like ODB man Like he was.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Just like a different breed of person, like he just
- 25:29Speaker 2: how do you say it? Like he he lived free,
- 25:32Speaker 2: you know what I mean, until he got locked up,
- 25:34Speaker 2: But he was free as a bird. He just did
- 25:36Speaker 2: what he wanted to, said what he wanted to, you know,
- 25:40Speaker 2: like anything else. When you when you when you get
- 25:42Speaker 2: a toxicated and you get too intoxicated, it starts to
- 25:44Speaker 2: be a problem. You know what I'm saying, And this
- 25:46Speaker 2: and that. But as far as him as a spirit
- 25:48Speaker 2: and as far as his his character and his values
- 25:51Speaker 2: and morals and ship like that, he's you can't beat
- 25:54Speaker 2: the odb man. And it's sad how things played out. Damn,
- 26:02Speaker 2: you got me thinking, Man, I won't know what to say,
- 26:04Speaker 2: you know what I mean? He was just wonderful kind man,
- 26:06Speaker 2: one of the kind.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Any crazy road stories with Wu Tang.
- 26:09Speaker 2: See that's why I was like, I can't do that
- 26:12Speaker 2: Wolf Tang in general. Just I mean ship, everybody does that.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I have said these allion times like the ones and ship.
- 26:18Speaker 2: But ah, man, I remember one time and me and
- 26:24Speaker 2: Meph we said we weren't gonna tell. As a matter
- 26:26Speaker 2: of fact, I can't even tell this story. Put it
- 26:28Speaker 2: this way, mefing man got hands. He beat up a pimp.
- 26:31Speaker 2: One time he beat up a pimp.
- 26:33Speaker 1: That's how I can't say that, you.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Know, because I don't know what nigga situations is.
- 26:37Speaker 2: That's how you get sucked up with mother talking though
- 26:39Speaker 2: you today he's supposed to be talking. But we had
- 26:41Speaker 2: a lot of a lot of great times with Wolf
- 26:43Speaker 2: Tang and ship like that. We all married with children now,
- 26:45Speaker 2: so I can't tell you that.
- 26:46Speaker 3: All you gotta know is Mathew Man beat up a
- 26:47Speaker 3: pimp road.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yeah, see met the man got hands in the circumstances
- 26:51Speaker 2: in which every reason too. Man, if I told you
- 26:54Speaker 2: the circus, that's why meth said, don't ever tell nobody
- 26:56Speaker 2: this story and ship.
- 26:57Speaker 3: But I heard him tell the motherfucker somewhere. Oh he
- 27:00Speaker 3: told it.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but he ain't give me permission too, So that's it.
- 27:04Speaker 1: He married. I mean, not gonna see I'm talking too much.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Shot to anyway, shout out the meth Man.
- 27:10Speaker 2: All like I say is just like we was there
- 27:13Speaker 2: and just like I said, watching a plant grow and
- 27:14Speaker 2: everything like when we went on that first promotional tour,
- 27:18Speaker 2: I didn't see the shit working like it, did, You
- 27:20Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. Because you got ten people with
- 27:22Speaker 2: different personalities hoosters, you know what I'm saying, They're not
- 27:25Speaker 2: used to a promotional tour that we don't get paid for.
- 27:28Speaker 1: This were just promoted for.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Loud recording, the albums coming out and this, and so
- 27:31Speaker 2: it just led to a whole bunch of just.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Well, I mean we got a little bit of like
- 27:35Speaker 3: that what's that documentary that came out the show? Remember
- 27:39Speaker 3: the show Big was in it. But you kind of
- 27:42Speaker 3: saw a little bit. I mean, when you have like
- 27:43Speaker 3: you said, when you got ten people, nine people, whatever
- 27:46Speaker 3: it is, it's like there's just no way that there's
- 27:49Speaker 3: not going to be like shit going on.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and then a lot of times that everybody got
- 27:52Speaker 2: their own life. So people, you know, it'll be eight
- 27:55Speaker 2: of them and then two of them's at home doing right.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I just to trip off Ghosts man, ghosts, peoples and ship.
- 28:00Speaker 2: But ghost was like intriguing to me because it's the
- 28:02Speaker 2: way the map this back when he used to way
- 28:04Speaker 2: the math everywhere and sit like that. I was like this,
- 28:06Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. I was just looking like
- 28:08Speaker 2: they different. They got it, man, they got it.
- 28:11Speaker 3: So you were on the first promo run where you
- 28:13Speaker 3: guys are are you guys pushing coast to coast or
- 28:15Speaker 3: twenty one and over with with them at that time.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Twenty one.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Now we're pushing we're pushing twenty one over. I don't
- 28:21Speaker 2: know if it came out yet, but I know Make
- 28:23Speaker 2: Room is the Lick Baby, Yeah, that was out, and
- 28:26Speaker 2: then then they're pushing Meta Man and Protect your Neck,
- 28:29Speaker 2: got it. So it's before the first albums came out.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Damn. That's crazy, dude.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Yeah, And it would just be like like like everybody
- 28:35Speaker 2: knew that Wu Tang was going to do something, but
- 28:38Speaker 2: I didn't know it was gonna be.
- 28:39Speaker 1: The biggest group to ever like this cultural klys I did.
- 28:43Speaker 3: They got their own Nikes and there's a Wu Tang
- 28:46Speaker 3: video game.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Incredible man, Hit Kwan. Everybody had their own nicks.
- 28:50Speaker 2: It was interesting, you know what I'm saying, Like having
- 28:52Speaker 2: all these personalities all different, you know what I mean, who.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Did you bond with the most on the road? Who
- 28:57Speaker 3: did y'all have like the most, like the biggest bond
- 28:59Speaker 3: with out hanging when you guys are on that run.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Back then, I probably say I just wanted to probably
- 29:06Speaker 2: O dB yeah after wow, you know, but but we
- 29:13Speaker 2: all bill we pours with all of them, like Ray Kwan,
- 29:15Speaker 2: that's my boy, shout out the way Meth, Me and
- 29:21Speaker 2: Meth was club Matthews to get out of bitches, though,
- 29:23Speaker 2: like for some reason he was like the flys and
- 29:25Speaker 2: ship like.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean like that's kind of like you know
- 29:28Speaker 3: he was.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Yeah, everybody wanted Meth.
- 29:31Speaker 2: But that's what's up though, But but I got my
- 29:34Speaker 2: own story with all of them for sure.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Was yo was h shout out to uh On. You
- 29:42Speaker 3: mentioned the song a little bit earlier on Rap Life.
- 29:44Speaker 3: You had Outcasts on Smoke Fast ninety nine trying to
- 29:46Speaker 3: fill the agony to what if that's it is a
- 29:50Speaker 3: crazy like just to think back, like you had ray
- 29:54Speaker 3: Corn on that motherfucking album Outcast. Did you an outcast
- 29:57Speaker 3: have like already like a relationship or was it something
- 30:00Speaker 3: where you were like, ya, I'm working on an album. I
- 30:01Speaker 3: want to get outcast to reach out.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Yeah, like like rest in peace to reco away everything.
- 30:07Speaker 1: But he used to like this back before, like the
- 30:10Speaker 1: smartphones and all this shit and everything. But he just
- 30:12Speaker 1: show me so much love. He's like, anytime you come
- 30:14Speaker 1: to Atlanta.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Organized noise man.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is back when the Freaknick Remember the
- 30:17Speaker 1: freak Nick I listen.
- 30:19Speaker 3: I was born in nineteen eighty seven. I've only heard
- 30:21Speaker 3: about that.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Okay, damn, I keep forgetting you.
- 30:23Speaker 3: But of course, of course I know what the Freaknick is.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Yes, but I used to go out there Atlanta and
- 30:26Speaker 2: funk with them during that them times and shit, and
- 30:29Speaker 2: they just open their doors to us.
- 30:31Speaker 3: And you know what was the freaknick?
- 30:32Speaker 1: Like, oh man, it was freaky. It was like before
- 30:36Speaker 1: social media.
- 30:37Speaker 3: You know, yeah, it was.
- 30:38Speaker 2: A trip because it was like not I'm gonna say lawless,
- 30:42Speaker 2: not lawless as far as crimes and shit, let that go.
- 30:44Speaker 2: But it's like the whole city got took over by that.
- 30:47Speaker 3: There's just no rules.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Yeah by this this this, this freaknik shit. It was
- 30:50Speaker 2: just cracking everywhere you went in Atlanta. It was crazy.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I got thrown it. I went a couple of years
- 30:54Speaker 2: in the whole and one one year I got thrown
- 30:56Speaker 2: in jail right when I got off the plane. And
- 30:58Speaker 2: why to listen to Freaknick through.
- 30:59Speaker 3: The like they're waiting for you.
- 31:01Speaker 1: I don't know what happened.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Was somewhere and the next thing I know him in
- 31:04Speaker 2: jail and you could kind of see like they had
- 31:07Speaker 2: these little windows of the jail everybody taking turns looking
- 31:09Speaker 2: at it. Because the freaknick was going on right outside
- 31:12Speaker 2: of the jail.
- 31:13Speaker 3: They lied me up for the.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Weekend and ship until you missed out that one. Yeah,
- 31:17Speaker 1: but that was just one of the mini.
- 31:19Speaker 3: I know you're working on you just like you said,
- 31:21Speaker 3: you just dropped the new song, sir, you are you
- 31:24Speaker 3: working on a new album? Are you? What do you?
- 31:25Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 31:26Speaker 2: Yeah, well, actually I got a bunch of albums worth
- 31:28Speaker 2: shit ready to go and everything. I'm just looking for
- 31:30Speaker 2: the right the right situation, I guess, you know. So
- 31:35Speaker 2: I dropped this song right here. It took legs of
- 31:37Speaker 2: I mean groo legs of his own. It's called Attention
- 31:39Speaker 2: as a Drug and if you hear it, we we
- 31:43Speaker 2: sampled a sample that try call Quest used before. Right,
- 31:47Speaker 2: So with that being said, it's only right for the
- 31:51Speaker 2: remix and shit I had to do, you know, get
- 31:53Speaker 2: somebody from Tried, So I got q Tip on the remix,
- 31:56Speaker 2: I got Exhibit on the remix, I got King T
- 31:59Speaker 2: and the Licks on the remix, Dang the Far Why,
- 32:01Speaker 2: and I got Sway in the Morning doing the intro
- 32:04Speaker 2: at the intro and everything.
- 32:05Speaker 3: So everybody that heard said it is about to be.
- 32:07Speaker 1: The song of the summer.
- 32:09Speaker 3: So you got the Far on there.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah, the Far is on it too. He set it off.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Man. Focused Daily is such a great album. You guys
- 32:18Speaker 3: should do, Like I feel like there should be like
- 32:20Speaker 3: a uh we never got a Liquid Crew album. You
- 32:25Speaker 3: guys should come together and just be like, hey.
- 32:27Speaker 1: That's my bucket list. Man, it's hard to get.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Did y'all ever like even kick the idea around of
- 32:31Speaker 3: like doing like a compilation.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Yeah, we did, and I think that it's still gonna happen.
- 32:37Speaker 2: But I just think that everybody that was a vested
- 32:40Speaker 2: initially because you have understand like Madly was in the
- 32:44Speaker 2: Liquor Cool he went on the dude, you know, mad
- 32:46Speaker 2: living shit, he out of here multi and shut out
- 32:49Speaker 2: the map.
- 32:50Speaker 3: By the way, I didn't know that.
- 32:51Speaker 1: You don't know that.
- 32:52Speaker 3: When I think of the Liquid Crew, I think, if
- 32:53Speaker 3: you guys king t X, we took.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Him on the fuck we went. We went on the
- 32:57Speaker 1: Warp Tour.
- 32:58Speaker 2: We took That's crazy, by the way, we took the
- 33:00Speaker 2: Liquor Cool with Is, We took Exhibit we took Mad Live,
- 33:04Speaker 2: the Farwide, filled the Agony Recipes, Beef and Dontrell.
- 33:09Speaker 1: We took all these people and they just ended up
- 33:10Speaker 1: being superstars.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Mad It's crazy, one of the most prolific.
- 33:16Speaker 1: That's what they It's crazy.
- 33:17Speaker 3: I was there.
- 33:17Speaker 2: That's another one. I was there when he was just
- 33:20Speaker 2: getting his feet wet in the thing shout out to
- 33:22Speaker 2: his brother.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Oh no too, Yeah, Oh that was incredible. Man? Were
- 33:25Speaker 3: you like? Was his beat always like super unique? Alway?
- 33:29Speaker 2: When I met him, That's what happened, like Jack. I
- 33:31Speaker 2: met Jack first, and he gave me a demo of
- 33:34Speaker 2: the loop Pack. I think it was a loop packed demo.
- 33:37Speaker 2: I know they was thinking about. I don't know if
- 33:39Speaker 2: there's just something independent before that, but I remember when
- 33:41Speaker 2: I heard it, excuse me, mad Lib mad lists production
- 33:46Speaker 2: reminded me of e Swift, like it had that that
- 33:49Speaker 2: sounds like.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Something something producers and ship like.
- 33:51Speaker 2: If you hear that beat, you could tell that damn
- 33:53Speaker 2: before you even know who did the beat. And that's
- 33:55Speaker 2: what Mad lived. It struck me as a like a
- 33:59Speaker 2: DJ put like he got something different. So I just
- 34:01Speaker 2: drive the ox now daily and you know, pick him
- 34:04Speaker 2: up bring run he Mad. I mean, uh, Mad live,
- 34:06Speaker 2: believe it or not dead? A couple did they say
- 34:09Speaker 2: twenty one and Over is our classic album?
- 34:11Speaker 3: Right?
- 34:11Speaker 2: People don't know that Mad Lift did a couple of
- 34:13Speaker 2: joints on there Make Mary Jane, He's Smoke the song,
- 34:17Speaker 2: turned the Party out, a couple other ones, and then
- 34:19Speaker 2: he did a lot on the second album, Too Coast
- 34:21Speaker 2: to Coast right album, but out of the madd we
- 34:24Speaker 2: just did a benefit concert because he fire relief concert
- 34:28Speaker 2: and everything for him a couple of weeks ago.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Man, I just you know, obviously there's things that you
- 34:32Speaker 3: can replace, you know, and then there's things you can't replace. Yeah,
- 34:34Speaker 3: that's a that's the fact, which is rough. I can
- 34:37Speaker 3: just imagine all the music you know that he had
- 34:39Speaker 3: had just on hard.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Drives and yeah, he he just he's just a talented dude.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Man. Like, Yeah, I met I met him a couple
- 34:49Speaker 3: of times with Freddy and uh, I just you know,
- 34:51Speaker 3: I feel like he's like a I feel like he's
- 34:54Speaker 3: like an enigma, you know what I'm saying. Like he's
- 34:56Speaker 3: like he's like he's like a like a shadow. It's
- 35:00Speaker 3: got an aura, That's what I'm saying.
- 35:02Speaker 1: And he don't pick up the phone. But nobody was
- 35:04Speaker 1: like the Wizard of Oz or something, right, right, right.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy. They said that he did like all
- 35:11Speaker 3: the beats for a bandana on a fucking iPad, And
- 35:15Speaker 3: I was like, I believe it because that fools just
- 35:16Speaker 3: so crazy, Like it's not about the tools.
- 35:20Speaker 1: He's an amazing motherfucker. I'll tell you that.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that's crazy man for you. Uh I always you know,
- 35:29Speaker 3: I feel like when we talk about West Coast hip
- 35:31Speaker 3: hop the era of and you guys were a little
- 35:35Speaker 3: bit more commercial than what I'm about to make it.
- 35:38Speaker 3: But there was like this kind of like this underground
- 35:41Speaker 3: l a movement that was that that that got a
- 35:43Speaker 3: lot of people signed the major labels.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Good Life and all that.
- 35:48Speaker 3: I'm obviously like guys like yourself, like the Dilated Ship
- 35:51Speaker 3: like you mentioned Luke Pac. Obviously there's then there was
- 35:53Speaker 3: like J five and there.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Was Michael nine.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Yeah you know yeah, Freestyle Fellowship, Planet Asia, fucking Roscoe.
- 36:04Speaker 1: How do you know about this eighty seven?
- 36:07Speaker 3: Because I'm telling you, I'm a fucking hip hop head. Bro.
- 36:10Speaker 3: I came when I was thirteen. I came out here
- 36:12Speaker 3: and hung out at Fat Beats with record Iris.
- 36:15Speaker 2: We need more than him man. The seventh, like the
- 36:19Speaker 2: shit you talking about it? That happened like two years.
- 36:21Speaker 1: After he was born. Yeah, actually doing he was born.
- 36:23Speaker 3: But but no, but it's it's crazy because like there's
- 36:26Speaker 3: like this there's this huge like scene in LA where
- 36:29Speaker 3: it was like just a lot of dope, backpack boom
- 36:34Speaker 3: back ill rap ship that wasn't gangster rap exactly right,
- 36:38Speaker 3: but it didn't mean that you got like you guys
- 36:40Speaker 3: are on Loud, the far was on Capital or delicious. Fine,
- 36:44Speaker 3: who did the what what did it focus did? Oh,
- 36:46Speaker 3: Tommy boy, Tommy Boy, you know, Dilators on fucking Capitol Records.
- 36:51Speaker 3: J five is fucking J five man, so Charlie Tuna
- 36:55Speaker 3: and all those guys.
- 36:55Speaker 1: And this was the from my albums A Beat, a Killed.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Man, Shot a Kill shout out to Cut Chemists, New Mark.
- 37:03Speaker 3: But there was like this huge just like other side
- 37:06Speaker 3: of what what you know, LA hip hop was that
- 37:10Speaker 3: I feel like, for whatever reason, like fast forward to today,
- 37:13Speaker 3: like I feel like it doesn't get talked about it enough,
- 37:15Speaker 3: doesn't get enough love, you know what I'm saying. I
- 37:17Speaker 3: feel like it was so important though, and it was
- 37:18Speaker 3: like there's so much good music, so many incredible artists
- 37:21Speaker 3: that came out of that era. Do you do you
- 37:23Speaker 3: feel like that that kind of scene in LA gets
- 37:26Speaker 3: the flowers it deserves.
- 37:27Speaker 1: And today I got a soul coming out.
- 37:30Speaker 2: It's it's not a podcast, it's actual so yeah that
- 37:34Speaker 2: it kind of addresses that it's called underrated and what
- 37:37Speaker 2: it is is like it's basically so I created that.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Basically, I just.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Wanted to put the sign on anything underrated don't have
- 37:45Speaker 1: to be music. They don't have to be rappers and
- 37:47Speaker 1: singers and this that it could be a you name
- 37:49Speaker 1: it restaurant, right that everybody lines up around the corner,
- 37:53Speaker 1: but a lot of people don't even know this place exists,
- 37:55Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, And there gotta be a
- 37:57Speaker 1: reason for that. So we're just trying to get you know,
- 38:00Speaker 1: people to the to tap in with who we think
- 38:04Speaker 1: is underrated. So shot some episodes and everything, Like I said,
- 38:07Speaker 1: shout out you know Alchemist jay Worthy. The first one
- 38:10Speaker 1: that come out, it's gonna be.
- 38:11Speaker 2: About the alcoholics, because that's all we've been called ever since.
- 38:14Speaker 2: We you know, had to deal with Like everybody sees
- 38:17Speaker 2: the body of work that we did, right, we got
- 38:19Speaker 2: songs with who you know, They got songs with wool Tang,
- 38:22Speaker 2: then turn around to do a song with for real,
- 38:24Speaker 2: they do a song with kid rock crazy to do
- 38:27Speaker 2: a song with.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I mean we did it.
- 38:29Speaker 2: I tried to do an album called what's the name
- 38:34Speaker 2: of the album? I forgot the name of the motherfucker,
- 38:36Speaker 2: But I just put my features on.
- 38:38Speaker 3: It, you know what I'm saying. Oh, so all features,
- 38:40Speaker 3: all features.
- 38:41Speaker 2: That's just because people might know that we did a
- 38:43Speaker 2: song with Snoop, but not mind know we did a
- 38:46Speaker 2: song with whoever.
- 38:47Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. What was the kid rock
- 38:49Speaker 3: song on that loud rock compilation?
- 38:51Speaker 1: Nah, he just did a beat that was sugar rad.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I was Sugar Rated.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I remember, like it was like a random
- 38:57Speaker 3: album that if you find it by it because it's
- 39:00Speaker 3: just rad. It was like some blue buff dude on
- 39:03Speaker 3: the cover, like a cartoon, and like it had a
- 39:05Speaker 3: bunch of loud artists like doing songs around.
- 39:08Speaker 1: You know, I don't even know it they did.
- 39:09Speaker 2: I was I don't know where it was that when
- 39:11Speaker 2: they did it, but they are you you coming rapping
- 39:14Speaker 2: at the end because they did the song without me.
- 39:16Speaker 1: I don't know what it was that when they So
- 39:17Speaker 1: you guys did.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Your guys' records with Sugar Red. Yeah, yeah, it was
- 39:20Speaker 3: like so it was some of them. Ships were very random.
- 39:23Speaker 3: It was kind of like the you know, Lincoln Park
- 39:25Speaker 3: and jay Z did it, but y'all like loud and
- 39:27Speaker 3: that did it, you know, fuck five years earlier.
- 39:30Speaker 2: That's funny you mentioned that because my boy EFN called
- 39:34Speaker 2: me yesterday tried to the drink champs here. Now he
- 39:37Speaker 2: didn't call me, hit me on the text, and he
- 39:38Speaker 2: just said he interviewed Lincoln Park and they said that
- 39:42Speaker 2: we were the alcoholics, were a big influence to them.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Yeah, because I mean low key like Mike Shinoda.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Is like a Mike, Yes, and then he said that,
- 39:50Speaker 1: so I just reached out.
- 39:52Speaker 3: We just reached out like yesterday and trying to get
- 39:54Speaker 3: in touch with him. Yeah, he was a part of
- 39:56Speaker 3: uh what I'm trying to think of a rap group.
- 39:59Speaker 3: He was runn and around with that was like an
- 40:02Speaker 3: underground like backpack fucking because he had this four minor
- 40:05Speaker 3: album and I remember there's all kinds of like backpack
- 40:07Speaker 3: la shit on. That was like what the fuck, Like,
- 40:08Speaker 3: who the fuck Mike, Mike should just tapped in.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but he but EFN said he wanted to get
- 40:15Speaker 2: in touch with us, So we're doing that right now.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Socoholic Lincoln Park.
- 40:19Speaker 3: That'd be big Man, that'd be big. Yeah, it's crazy
- 40:22Speaker 3: because just that era of music. I think it's like
- 40:23Speaker 3: your album. I think the J five Ship, I think,
- 40:26Speaker 3: you know, Expansion Team is a classic to me.
- 40:28Speaker 4: What's going on with Phil the Agony Man, little cousin
- 40:31Speaker 4: phiel Man?
- 40:32Speaker 2: He actually big cousin Phil. He he chilling man. I
- 40:35Speaker 2: just saw him couple of weeks ago and everything.
- 40:37Speaker 3: He's put some fucking music Outum, that's what I feel,
- 40:39Speaker 3: the Agony Bro.
- 40:40Speaker 2: He sent me some incredible shit and I'm asking what
- 40:42Speaker 2: he's waiting on. But like we, like you said, that's
- 40:46Speaker 2: who I was hopping it up with about the Liquid
- 40:47Speaker 2: Cool album and shit. And there's a lot of associates that,
- 40:51Speaker 2: even if they don't use the word liquid creul and
- 40:53Speaker 2: everything like crime.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Don you know what I'm saying. Of course, you know
- 40:57Speaker 1: a bunch of people that cry.
- 40:58Speaker 3: On an exhibit? Are they good? Now? I guess that's
- 41:00Speaker 3: an exhibit question.
- 41:02Speaker 1: I don't even know this beefing.
- 41:04Speaker 3: The strong arm steady thing happened, and you know, yeah
- 41:10Speaker 3: that was something back that so long ago you would
- 41:12Speaker 3: think it doesn't matter.
- 41:13Speaker 1: And if I ain't here what happened?
- 41:15Speaker 2: And probably I don't know, man, but anyway, I know
- 41:17Speaker 2: everybody good and good spaces and everything, like I just
- 41:20Speaker 2: send Quinn a uh mad live thing and everything.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Yeah, he's incredible and he's acting. Now.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's something about this liquid
- 41:27Speaker 2: cool shit. We don't breathe failures, you know what I'm saying,
- 41:29Speaker 2: something about you know, so.
- 41:31Speaker 3: You guys in the best you can do. Your guys,
- 41:33Speaker 3: biggest single in terms of sales, right, just the labels
- 41:36Speaker 3: say hey we got we like at that time Forrel's
- 41:38Speaker 3: hottest fish Grease Neptunes are on fucking fire. Is that
- 41:42Speaker 3: like a thing where like the labels like, yo, we
- 41:44Speaker 3: got to get y'all with the Neptunes or nationally.
- 41:47Speaker 2: That's what That's what I tip off of how people's go.
- 41:49Speaker 2: They grow into their own self, I guess. But when
- 41:52Speaker 2: we met for real, he requested us. He was like,
- 41:57Speaker 2: I want to do I don't know if he went
- 41:58Speaker 2: in the Steve rif Swift or whatever, but he said
- 42:01Speaker 2: Alcoholic is one of his favorite groups and he would
- 42:03Speaker 2: love to do something.
- 42:04Speaker 1: And then he.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Called somebody and said I got this beat that I
- 42:06Speaker 2: no is gonna be a hit record. And it sounds
- 42:09Speaker 2: perfect for that. Then when he played it, it ain't
- 42:11Speaker 2: sound let nothing like what we was expected because he
- 42:13Speaker 2: was fresh off of like like the clips, grinding and
- 42:16Speaker 2: all that, so I expect to hear some of that.
- 42:18Speaker 2: And then when he played the ship, we went to
- 42:20Speaker 2: Virginia to Pharrell studio.
- 42:22Speaker 3: We flew out there to do.
- 42:23Speaker 1: The song with him, right, and I can honestly say
- 42:27Speaker 1: I ain't seen him since.
- 42:28Speaker 3: But I got a record.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Though, yeah, we got a record. But it's like, but
- 42:32Speaker 1: you see what he grew into, Like he the face
- 42:34Speaker 1: of Lois with Gucci's. I don't know what he's doing.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Look I think Louis, but shout out to Pharrell. Though. Man,
- 42:40Speaker 1: it's like, you know, I got a chance to work
- 42:42Speaker 1: with a legend.
- 42:43Speaker 3: You know, it's crazy to think about like everybody off
- 42:46Speaker 3: work with like Stoles p fucking the list on.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Real And I mean this some pretty.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Wild Would you ever? Did you ever entertain uh, doing
- 42:59Speaker 3: a sequel to Rap life.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Like a rap like part two? I might call the Douces.
- 43:07Speaker 2: It has been a minute because now I'm living a
- 43:10Speaker 2: different rap life, you know what I mean. I don't
- 43:13Speaker 2: want to call it square because I still be having
- 43:14Speaker 2: fun with my life. It's just I cut out the drinking.
- 43:17Speaker 2: It just seemed like a lot of parties are more boring,
- 43:20Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying.
- 43:21Speaker 3: Do you feel like you getting sober has like just
- 43:24Speaker 3: improved the quality of life in terms of just like
- 43:26Speaker 3: because I feel like, man, that alcohol, it weighs on
- 43:29Speaker 3: your bath.
- 43:30Speaker 1: You got to see a lot of the That's what
- 43:32Speaker 1: my problem was.
- 43:33Speaker 3: It was like.
- 43:35Speaker 2: I was so blessed to, you know, with the loud
- 43:39Speaker 2: situation and this and that. Then I didn solo.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I was just so blessed to just just be one
- 43:44Speaker 1: of the millions, Like you know what I'm saying, one
- 43:46Speaker 1: of millions kind of you know, I got money, I'm young,
- 43:50Speaker 1: I ain't an ugly motherfucker. We got calls, we got jewel,
- 43:52Speaker 1: we got all this.
- 43:53Speaker 2: And when you get, you know, into that thrown into
- 43:55Speaker 2: that cycle, it's like you're.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Living up to the image now, you know what I'm saying.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Every car got be a vet or every house gotta
- 44:02Speaker 2: be big or it ain't really you know.
- 44:05Speaker 1: So I just tried to keep up with the Joneses.
- 44:08Speaker 1: The Joneses, they should have you fucked up in that
- 44:13Speaker 1: trying to keep up with the Jones that have your
- 44:14Speaker 1: as homeless.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Yo, you guys did the Taylor Swift thing. What's that
- 44:21Speaker 3: where you guys re recorded clash.
- 44:24Speaker 2: We were going through this big thing with that. Let me
- 44:25Speaker 2: let me explain that right there, we did and it was.
- 44:29Speaker 3: The same thing Taylor Swift did. That's right, man. She
- 44:30Speaker 3: she re recorded all her old albums.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Okay, this is east with not Taylor's Taylor Swift.
- 44:34Speaker 3: The biggest artists in the world. She did the same.
- 44:37Speaker 3: She didn't she had the mastss thing going, so she recorded.
- 44:41Speaker 3: She re recorded her first like three albums, right, and
- 44:44Speaker 3: they all went number one.
- 44:45Speaker 2: I was just saying as a coincident that Swifts did
- 44:48Speaker 2: the same exactly. But but what they did they wanted
- 44:52Speaker 2: to get one of the songs. I think Clail Patrick
- 44:55Speaker 2: of the record label wanted to get one of the
- 44:56Speaker 2: songs in a movie or something like that. And then
- 44:58Speaker 2: they presented it to us to do it, to re
- 45:00Speaker 2: record the shit, and they said they had a live
- 45:02Speaker 2: band that could we play the songs and shit, And
- 45:04Speaker 2: I was like, okay, well, and then we Swift ended
- 45:08Speaker 2: up stripping all the tracks down so the band would
- 45:10Speaker 2: have something like a reference right to play. And this
- 45:13Speaker 2: and that, and then we did we did our vocals
- 45:17Speaker 2: and we sent them to the record label, and I
- 45:20Speaker 2: don't know what happened. They just sent it as long
- 45:21Speaker 2: as apology and all this, but they ended up putting
- 45:24Speaker 2: out the stripped down version that Swift sent to them
- 45:28Speaker 2: to replay on accident. I don't know what they hell
- 45:30Speaker 2: or whatever, but we got some shit going on with
- 45:32Speaker 2: them like.
- 45:33Speaker 3: That, because when I saw it, I was like, oh,
- 45:35Speaker 3: you guys, man, mean, I don't know if your master's
- 45:38Speaker 3: situation will loud, but a lot of times if an
- 45:40Speaker 3: artist does that, it's like, yeah, we're gonna put out
- 45:42Speaker 3: our classics re record them, so we own the masters technically.
- 45:46Speaker 3: So it wasn't that that was that kind of the
- 45:48Speaker 3: player though. Yeah, But it was like.
- 45:52Speaker 2: The version that they put out they still had simples
- 45:54Speaker 2: in it, so it didn't make no sense, Like why
- 45:56Speaker 2: is up?
- 45:56Speaker 1: How did this happen?
- 45:57Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. But they cleared it up
- 46:00Speaker 2: out so they I think that they've already put up
- 46:01Speaker 2: the the correct versions and everything. So I really ain't
- 46:07Speaker 2: paying attention going I have so much shit going on
- 46:09Speaker 2: right even you know, look up, but shout out clear
- 46:12Speaker 2: Patrick Record suave the far side.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Are you? Are you putting out the solo stuff independently?
- 46:19Speaker 2: That's what I'm I'm waiting for my I want my
- 46:21Speaker 2: next move to be my best move. So I got
- 46:23Speaker 2: some killer ship, so I don't want to just put
- 46:25Speaker 2: it out and you know nobody hears it.
- 46:27Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying for sure?
- 46:29Speaker 3: You know I think what you got to do, man
- 46:31Speaker 3: is you got to do it independently. But you you
- 46:33Speaker 3: have to partner with someone on vinyls exactly.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Okay, So yes.
- 46:37Speaker 3: You're you're, you're, you're you're. I mean where you're gonna
- 46:40Speaker 3: be able to hit the lick is vinyls cassette games,
- 46:43Speaker 3: because what your fans are gonna want to buy it
- 46:45Speaker 3: like Collect collected.
- 46:47Speaker 2: But whether you play a vinyl if it doesn't map bro, listen,
- 46:51Speaker 2: Vinyls you got all mapped out.
- 46:52Speaker 3: Like I'm telling you right now, Vinyls out selling everything.
- 46:56Speaker 1: That's what it's doing.
- 46:57Speaker 3: If you go to Target, there's no CD, there's vinyls.
- 47:01Speaker 3: The vinyl aisle at Target is cracking. There's like this
- 47:04Speaker 3: whole entire because now fans any Target, you go to
- 47:11Speaker 3: go to the where the electronics are and the books
- 47:13Speaker 3: there's a giant vinyl area.
- 47:16Speaker 1: I've been targeting. Sometimes you gotta do a vinyl.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Make sure all of your branding is like use your
- 47:23Speaker 3: old logo like you want, like you want your fans
- 47:26Speaker 3: to be like at the end of the day, like
- 47:29Speaker 3: your fans want to collect something because they can stream
- 47:32Speaker 3: it all day. That's the thing. Nowadays, it's like it's
- 47:35Speaker 3: it's it's like you can stream the album, but the
- 47:37Speaker 3: fans still want to own something, so you got to
- 47:39Speaker 3: give them something to own.
- 47:40Speaker 2: You feel me like I just looked at it, like
- 47:43Speaker 2: if you ain't got no turntables, what you're gonna do
- 47:44Speaker 2: with it?
- 47:45Speaker 3: But but look now, when I tell you you're finna
- 47:47Speaker 3: go to Target, go to Walmart, You'll see the vinyl
- 47:51Speaker 3: with Walmart. It's a lot, bro. It's it's the it's
- 47:54Speaker 3: the it's so like guys like Freddy and al and
- 48:00Speaker 3: all these guys are making millions of dollars, Like ask Alchemists.
- 48:04Speaker 3: Alchemist makes millions of dollars yl I'm talking about He'll
- 48:09Speaker 3: sell a vinyl with just beats and that shit sells
- 48:12Speaker 3: the fuck out. So you got it. I'm telling you,
- 48:15Speaker 3: whatever you do next, collaborate with someone to the distribution
- 48:18Speaker 3: on vinyl evidence go ahead, yeah, hit ev hit out whoever.
- 48:23Speaker 3: You could do it with Empire they do the vinyl thing.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Or you could and then do like a super limited
- 48:28Speaker 3: run like cassette tapes and then you'll bro that she'll
- 48:30Speaker 3: sell out.
- 48:32Speaker 1: I thought the vinyl only sold overseas with some reason.
- 48:34Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no it is.
- 48:35Speaker 1: And then it set tle.
- 48:37Speaker 3: My son is nineteen years old and has like two
- 48:39Speaker 3: hundred vinyls. He collects vinyls. Wow. Yeah. And now like
- 48:43Speaker 3: the turntables that they're making nowadays, you know, back in
- 48:47Speaker 3: the day you had to have run a turntable and
- 48:48Speaker 3: do a motherfucking am tool. No, they got usbat turntables
- 48:52Speaker 3: for these.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Bro, that's the tea cold.
- 48:55Speaker 3: No, it's it's crazy. Yeah, you got you would murder it.
- 48:59Speaker 3: So whatever you do next, it's got to have a vinyl.
- 49:01Speaker 3: So if you're doing an album, if it's a rap
- 49:02Speaker 3: live two, make sure.
- 49:04Speaker 1: That our work is you got to map down there.
- 49:07Speaker 1: You might be my silent partner six figure bag. You're
- 49:09Speaker 1: just sitting there just waiting for you.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. Like that's the thing. It's like I
- 49:14Speaker 3: was like, like the and the thing is too. With
- 49:17Speaker 3: the with the record shit is like you have to
- 49:20Speaker 3: plan it out because the record plants are like three
- 49:23Speaker 3: months behind. That's why when like Kendrick did the super Bowl,
- 49:27Speaker 3: they planned it out perfectly, where his so gn X
- 49:29Speaker 3: have been out for months, but the vinyls dropped denied
- 49:35Speaker 3: to the super Bowl and then bitches he he sold
- 49:38Speaker 3: another one hundred thousand units just because he sold one
- 49:40Speaker 3: hundred thousand pieces of a vinyl.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Yeah that's perfect.
- 49:43Speaker 3: Now you gotta do the vinyl shit man, especially Yeah, yeah,
- 49:46Speaker 3: it'll go crazy. And then if you guys ever do
- 49:48Speaker 3: like any talk shit. I don't know what Loud's doing,
- 49:51Speaker 3: but I would tell Loud to reissue, like, yeah, we
- 49:53Speaker 3: should do like a I don't know at what point
- 49:55Speaker 3: in time the big a big anniversary for like twenty
- 49:57Speaker 3: one and over, but.
- 50:00Speaker 2: I think I think it's like after a certain amount
- 50:01Speaker 2: of years we own the rights to fuck it.
- 50:04Speaker 3: I would. I would do like a super limited edition
- 50:08Speaker 3: twenty one and over vinyl pressing. It will sell out. Listen,
- 50:12Speaker 3: it'll sell out.
- 50:13Speaker 1: That's what we're doing with the that's what we're supposed
- 50:15Speaker 1: to do with the the one.
- 50:17Speaker 3: The re release, I'm.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Saying, ah, yeah, like the Vinyl.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Fans that like collect ship and they want to support
- 50:25Speaker 3: you guys. Man Like, So yeah, dude, I don't know
- 50:27Speaker 3: if ABB still does vinal stuff.
- 50:29Speaker 1: But it's not a contract we signed with Clio Patrick.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Vinyl was in there to make the money because streaming
- 50:36Speaker 1: is whatever, dude.
- 50:37Speaker 3: Like if you're like a like, like like any artist
- 50:40Speaker 3: that's independent, it's like yo, when you throw your shit
- 50:43Speaker 3: up on streaming, it's it's like an advertisement so that
- 50:46Speaker 3: people can come and spend money with you at the
- 50:47Speaker 3: shows or merch or whatever. So so do you have
- 50:50Speaker 3: a timetable the new songs out, but do you have
- 50:52Speaker 3: a timetable on when you think you want to put
- 50:55Speaker 3: another solo project out? Like you said, you're trying to
- 50:58Speaker 3: figure that out.
- 50:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna drop two more, gonna drop this remix, like.
- 51:01Speaker 2: I said, with a big remix, Yes, yes, yes, but
- 51:04Speaker 2: we got big big it's gonna crack.
- 51:07Speaker 1: But I got a shoot. I being a song called
- 51:11Speaker 1: Shoe Fits.
- 51:12Speaker 2: It's called if the Shoe Fits, And that's just like
- 51:15Speaker 2: some tasks like all my MC ship, you know what
- 51:17Speaker 2: I mean. There's like an inspirational song just about kind
- 51:20Speaker 2: of like the old task that's having fun, rambling, you know,
- 51:23Speaker 2: just talking about my life and everything. And after that,
- 51:26Speaker 2: I see a lot of a lot of tour days
- 51:28Speaker 2: coming up, you know what I'm saying, the alcoholics and solo,
- 51:31Speaker 2: solo and ship. So I'm gonna be on the road
- 51:33Speaker 2: to like Christmas fire and looking for more. So, but
- 51:37Speaker 2: anybody out there on some on a difference on a
- 51:40Speaker 2: side note and everything, I am looking for some management.
- 51:43Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 51:44Speaker 2: And what I mean by that is just like I'm
- 51:46Speaker 2: handling them my career. You know what I'm saying. It's
- 51:49Speaker 2: just I can't manage myself and do the music, yeah,
- 51:52Speaker 2: and do all this other shs. I got my hands
- 51:53Speaker 2: a lot of cookie jars. So anybody out there to
- 51:56Speaker 2: see that, they hear the attention is a drug. And
- 51:59Speaker 2: you know, like the remix has no home yet, you
- 52:00Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. I mean, he's always got a
- 52:02Speaker 2: home if you put it out. Independent for sure, but
- 52:04Speaker 2: you know, I just see the bigger picture. So get
- 52:07Speaker 2: at me, Bo cash Man.
- 52:08Speaker 3: I appreciate you pulling up new song is out, Go
- 52:13Speaker 3: support it, go street, run it up and uh the
- 52:15Speaker 3: videos out, Yes, sir.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Shout out to Dave Sapel and Fatty Lumpkin.
- 52:21Speaker 3: Shout Dave Chappelle.
- 52:22Speaker 2: I had to say that guy had to chest to
- 52:24Speaker 2: go to his quib, I mean, not his quib. But
- 52:26Speaker 2: he lives in this little town called Yellow Springs in Ohio.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, he's like his compound.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Right, Yes, and he invited me out to come out
- 52:33Speaker 2: and hang out with him for a couple of hours
- 52:34Speaker 2: of this shit, and it was crazy.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I've heard, I've only heard about it, but it
- 52:37Speaker 3: looks I mean, I've had a few homies who were
- 52:38Speaker 3: going there during COVID to watch on his shows. Yeah,
- 52:41Speaker 3: and I heard it's amazing.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's dope shit.
- 52:43Speaker 2: But the crazy part is that one of the rules
- 52:45Speaker 2: is you can't videotape, right, So that's why I said,
- 52:49Speaker 2: shout out Dave Schapelle. I can't post nothing of this
- 52:51Speaker 2: and that. But it's incredible though. Man, you got this
- 52:54Speaker 2: little town on lot Yellow Springs. Yes, so this is
- 52:58Speaker 2: his new movie, Oh fire. Shout out to Chappelle.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Man, Yeah, he's got at Harriet's in West Hollywood. It's
- 53:04Speaker 3: at the top of one hotel. Uh. Yes, it's on
- 53:07Speaker 3: corner there. It's called Chappelle's Corner. Wow. So you get
- 53:09Speaker 3: like sat that's.
- 53:10Speaker 1: What if you go to this town. I got the
- 53:11Speaker 1: video camera right here.
- 53:13Speaker 2: I saw you the town that they got spelled logo
- 53:15Speaker 2: like stores and.
- 53:17Speaker 3: Oh that's like his town.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Damn it, that's like is sepel Ville. That's great, dude though.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Man's just you know, he told us a lot of
- 53:25Speaker 2: love that didn't have to just me and my cousin
- 53:27Speaker 2: and shout out Jay Ross.
- 53:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Boom, I appreciate you pulling up. Man. Can't I
- 53:32Speaker 3: wait to hear what you got in the store. I
- 53:33Speaker 3: can't wait for the remix.
- 53:34Speaker 1: It sounds crazy, so we clicked hit you with it.
- 53:37Speaker 3: Boom, My guy.
- 53:39Speaker 4: Tash Rico Yes her wrapping up Bootleg cap podcast Faster
- 53:44Speaker 4: than the Hurry by Boy Boom
