- 0:05Speaker 1: Approache production, approache production.
- 0:14Speaker 2: H m hm, you be little do then we'll go
- 0:29Speaker 2: riding on the horses.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, way.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Up and scale, little darling.
- 0:39Speaker 5: And if you fall, I pick you, pick you.
- 0:54Speaker 6: You started again.
- 0:57Speaker 7: That was good every though, all right, bonus around here
- 1:00Speaker 7: we are tending.
- 1:01Speaker 3: The bin tend in the there's a few things picture, yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 3: a few teams that want to chuck at the bit.
- 1:10Speaker 7: Now. I didn't get to see the Broncos game, but
- 1:14Speaker 7: it didn't look good.
- 1:15Speaker 4: No, it was gonna come. Yeah, they reckon.
- 1:19Speaker 3: It looked really rusty, like you know, there was a
- 1:22Speaker 3: few fought passes in there. There was a lot of
- 1:25Speaker 3: drop all in the second half. We got what we deserved.
- 1:29Speaker 7: I got that.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I look at the changes you know they've I think
- 1:31Speaker 1: they've done they have. I swear they've hit thirty players now.
- 1:35Speaker 3: So I think with a lot we've got young coats.
- 1:39Speaker 3: I think he's thirty, he's making his debut. He's our
- 1:41Speaker 3: thirtieth player this year. So last year we won the
- 1:43Speaker 3: Grand Final, we used twenty seven players. This year we've
- 1:47Speaker 3: already used thirty.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Before Origin twenty seven years you will come around. So
- 1:51Speaker 4: it just shows.
- 1:52Speaker 3: How like how deep we had to go into the list.
- 1:55Speaker 3: It's been great. I think last year been Tolsi was
- 1:59Speaker 3: our only debutante for the club. But this year I
- 2:03Speaker 3: think we've had four or four five at least club debutants.
- 2:06Speaker 1: But in my eyes that this was coming just beurely
- 2:09Speaker 1: because the changes in combos as play made.
- 2:12Speaker 4: There's way too many outside backs.
- 2:14Speaker 1: There was three and three on the weekend, three changes,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I believe, and yeah, it was going to come.
- 2:20Speaker 4: I'm not saying, you know, that's the only reason they lost.
- 2:23Speaker 1: They did play poorly in certain areas and patches and
- 2:27Speaker 1: mainly are way too good at the moment to give
- 2:30Speaker 1: them an inch, and they they took it and they
- 2:33Speaker 1: played really well, not really well, but they played well enough.
- 2:36Speaker 6: You'd say pretty comfortably. Man, are going to be in
- 2:38Speaker 6: the eight.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I've moved them up. I've moved them up top four
- 2:43Speaker 4: or five.
- 2:43Speaker 1: The way they're playing, yeah, it's it's the man not
- 2:47Speaker 1: merely of older, but they're getting back close to the
- 2:49Speaker 1: mainly of old.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I saw Shawnee Johnson talk about Kieran Forn as a
- 2:54Speaker 3: player and like rooming with him in the past and
- 2:57Speaker 3: how inspirationally he was as a as a leader, and
- 3:01Speaker 3: how he could just playing in your team get you
- 3:04Speaker 3: up for the game for the occasion. How many times
- 3:07Speaker 3: in New Zealand came in as underdogs against Australia and
- 3:11Speaker 3: SHAWNE Johnson said that, you know every time Kieran was like,
- 3:14Speaker 3: Kieran would fire him up before the game would even start.
- 3:18Speaker 3: So I reckon that's what he's doing for the players
- 3:20Speaker 3: here at the moment. He's kept things simple in the
- 3:22Speaker 3: sense that he's on these are non negotiables. Is what
- 3:24Speaker 3: we do out there in the field, and I want
- 3:26Speaker 3: you to go out there and play footy for one another.
- 3:28Speaker 3: And that's the way they're playing at the moment, and
- 3:31Speaker 3: it's it's annotating to watch. The Bronx are just on
- 3:33Speaker 3: the wrong side of it. And you know, you've really
- 3:36Speaker 3: got to simplify your game when it comes to having
- 3:40Speaker 3: so many players out and so many players in different positions,
- 3:43Speaker 3: like we just need to go back to a real
- 3:45Speaker 3: basic brand of footy and this guy out there and
- 3:48Speaker 3: compete and we were just out there trying too hard
- 3:50Speaker 3: and not in a bad way. But yeah, we got
- 3:53Speaker 3: exactly what we deserve.
- 3:55Speaker 6: I'm speaking of. Entertaining Egg was to see the Storm
- 3:57Speaker 6: put on a ton of points. They unload.
- 4:01Speaker 7: Its like once they started scoring, the pressure was off
- 4:03Speaker 7: and that's nuts.
- 4:05Speaker 1: That was insane. I thought they start was amazing. Tigers
- 4:08Speaker 1: didn't help themselves ball. I think they had one completed
- 4:12Speaker 1: set and Albourn might have had nine. Yeah, something ridiculous stat.
- 4:16Speaker 1: And they scored in every second set in that first
- 4:19Speaker 1: twenty odd minutes. And look I was I was stoked
- 4:23Speaker 1: to see them scoring, unhappy and smiling.
- 4:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Am I convinced that they're back? No, No, I'm not
- 4:29Speaker 1: going to say they're back. No, but they're still a
- 4:31Speaker 1: good team. They're still a good team. And that still
- 4:33Speaker 1: showed that they've still got huge control things and ran
- 4:37Speaker 1: the team around. Monster was dancing, having fun and balls
- 4:41Speaker 1: and he looked they just thought that they were enjoying it.
- 4:43Speaker 1: So I feel like, well we all want to see
- 4:45Speaker 1: just from that go up again.
- 4:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 3: I think whoever done Cameron Monster's teeth are happy now, yeah,
- 4:52Speaker 3: very smile and smile.
- 4:54Speaker 4: They're getting a good show.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah, getting good yeah, yeah, all the TVs they're getting great,
- 4:59Speaker 1: great coverage now teeth well, great job.
- 5:03Speaker 4: A few others.
- 5:04Speaker 7: It's good seen it like pre Origin as we lead
- 5:07Speaker 7: up to Origin, as we get towards origins.
- 5:11Speaker 6: Great seeing Monster starting to get a bit of form.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and not that he's been playing bad. You
- 5:18Speaker 3: know this from for Monster, when you see him having fun,
- 5:24Speaker 3: like he was saying, you know, he's doing the show
- 5:26Speaker 3: and goes dancing around, stepping a few guys, putting the
- 5:29Speaker 3: fend on, that's when you know he's playing his best footage.
- 5:32Speaker 3: And it was almost as this again, I go back
- 5:35Speaker 3: to the same thing as what the Broncos are going through,
- 5:36Speaker 3: the one they're trying too hard and so yeah, it
- 5:39Speaker 3: was so good to see them.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I remember wanting to say, if chat sometimes
- 5:44Speaker 1: the best thing that brings out your game, do it.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Like you didn't shut up? But I never.
- 5:55Speaker 7: Lose.
- 5:55Speaker 1: That'd lose that fight every time. But he has a chatter.
- 6:00Speaker 1: He gets under his skin with his words, and that's
- 6:03Speaker 1: what he loves. He loves the reaction and I haven't
- 6:05Speaker 1: seen that all year from him.
- 6:07Speaker 7: What would he be saying to an opposition player, like
- 6:09Speaker 7: in a tackle or.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Getting flogged by by a gimp or something like it
- 6:17Speaker 1: looked like he hit your heart, Yeah, but it'd make
- 6:19Speaker 1: you out to feel like you actually did get hit
- 6:21Speaker 1: hard by by five eight like just ripping your rub
- 6:24Speaker 1: your head in the ground, throw dirt in your face.
- 6:27Speaker 3: I loved I love saying he's not as ruthless as
- 6:30Speaker 3: Will Chambers world Chambers used to He used to do
- 6:33Speaker 3: research on your family. He used to go deep down
- 6:37Speaker 3: on any of your ship and it was all the time.
- 6:41Speaker 4: I absolutely love that.
- 6:42Speaker 3: But on the flip side of the West Tigers, I
- 6:44Speaker 3: think I think Adam Dewey is the biggest out for it.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Like he brings so much energy and like when I
- 6:51Speaker 3: think of West Tigers and like over the last few seasons,
- 6:54Speaker 3: he is the West Tigers. So I think, yeah, like
- 6:57Speaker 3: having him out, they really really struggled. So we'll see
- 6:59Speaker 3: what they're going to do.
- 7:01Speaker 1: The big man May he was ruled out late and
- 7:04Speaker 1: he was having a baby, yeah, which I think again,
- 7:07Speaker 1: there is that leader I think of the control of
- 7:10Speaker 1: the team.
- 7:11Speaker 4: He's their platform. So he's there.
- 7:13Speaker 1: He starts, he's enforcer. Yeah, he starts. He leads it
- 7:17Speaker 1: from first kickoff, first hit or first carry.
- 7:20Speaker 4: You know, he leads it. And that's why I think
- 7:22Speaker 4: they missed too.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And it was the idea of Tigers, wasn't there On
- 7:27Speaker 1: the weekend.
- 7:28Speaker 7: That was a forty four to sixteen, So another sixty
- 7:31Speaker 7: point game. The other sixty point game was Cowboys. Actually
- 7:37Speaker 7: that was sixty three. The Eels ended up with a
- 7:39Speaker 7: field goal and then appenently after the field goal.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it was weird.
- 7:43Speaker 3: It's a weird rule.
- 7:43Speaker 4: But they still one.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Yeah, they still one. But I don't understand the rule.
- 7:49Speaker 3: But it's a rule.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's human.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Yeah, but there's probably there's a few moments there, especially
- 7:57Speaker 3: towards the end, where there was a great opportunity for
- 8:01Speaker 3: the Cowboys to iy came and they where they kept
- 8:06Speaker 3: on letting the Eels back into the game. And that's
- 8:10Speaker 3: that's what worried me about this game at the end
- 8:12Speaker 3: of the day, was it was such a big milestone
- 8:14Speaker 3: game for Jason Tomlilo, which sometimes can be a little
- 8:18Speaker 3: bit of a distraction. But they also didn't show up
- 8:21Speaker 3: for him in the sense that they should have iced
- 8:23Speaker 3: this game. That they're winning the games they shouldn't win
- 8:26Speaker 3: at the moment and not winning the ones they should
- 8:29Speaker 3: My question is how many are they going to win?
- 8:31Speaker 4: Now? Tommy's out for twelve weeks.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, so he's gone in for a cindersmosis
- 8:36Speaker 3: in the twelve weeks.
- 8:39Speaker 4: The two bones.
- 8:41Speaker 3: But you got the two bones either side of ankle,
- 8:46Speaker 3: and then there's a ligament in between. And when you
- 8:49Speaker 3: tear that ligament, they have to they screw through and
- 8:52Speaker 3: they put a lasso in there and the bone together,
- 8:55Speaker 3: pull the bones.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and yeah, I can't. Are they going to win now? Like?
- 9:04Speaker 4: And doesn't who you come up against? Jesus that kid
- 9:07Speaker 4: was their team. Yeah, they'll have a.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Who I'm saying like, you've got Jake Clifford at the moment,
- 9:14Speaker 3: who's been playing for.
- 9:16Speaker 4: What's going to happen?
- 9:17Speaker 3: I think off the back of this is I think
- 9:18Speaker 3: he's going to go into Origin, so they're going to
- 9:20Speaker 3: look at another half.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Yeah, that's not good.
- 9:23Speaker 6: Yeah, so didn't did obviously out?
- 9:25Speaker 7: Then we'll talk because I'll get both of your Origin
- 9:29Speaker 7: picks on the podcast tomorrow. But that's another huge scoring game,
- 9:35Speaker 7: and there was a couple of eighty point games last weekend.
- 9:38Speaker 6: What do you think about that? That's obviously to do
- 9:40Speaker 6: with the six again.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Rule, right, Yeah, Well, Mike, my big question from this round,
- 9:47Speaker 1: well not from this round, but from the start of
- 9:50Speaker 1: this season. So the fatigue factor, right, how much it's
- 9:53Speaker 1: putting on the players, you know, more pressure no, but no,
- 9:57Speaker 1: but it's not just that. So I look at the
- 9:58Speaker 1: fatigue on the players, yes, decision making, yes, but on
- 10:03Speaker 1: the body, I believe it's resilding a.
- 10:05Speaker 4: More head knocks and more injuries.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Do you reckon the game where they believe is getting
- 10:11Speaker 1: more exciting, has actually became more dangerous.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Yea. I even just look at the Broncos. How many
- 10:18Speaker 3: how many knee injuries have we had at the Broncos
- 10:20Speaker 3: this year? So knee injuries come from you know, a
- 10:23Speaker 3: couple of them have come from tired defenses. So that's
- 10:27Speaker 3: when you start getting your hip drops and those types
- 10:29Speaker 3: of tackles come through. And then a lot of the
- 10:32Speaker 3: time too, from an attacking point of you, you're not
- 10:34Speaker 3: putting yourself in a strong enough position to brace up,
- 10:38Speaker 3: brace for the hit hitting the ground to make sure
- 10:41Speaker 3: you can get up and quick play the ball.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Saying fatigue also puts fatigue in your muscles.
- 10:47Speaker 4: In attendance, yeah, they get fatigued.
- 10:49Speaker 6: Yeah, and then.
- 10:51Speaker 4: That creates more chance.
- 10:53Speaker 1: The percentage goes up, high percentage chance of you actually
- 10:57Speaker 1: tearing one of those I don't think they really thought
- 11:01Speaker 1: about your tackle technique.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Then techniques, then you're standing more tall in the tackle,
- 11:06Speaker 3: then you can get more head on head contact. You're
- 11:11Speaker 3: then reaching more in defense as well, so then that's
- 11:13Speaker 3: when you start putting your shoulder in, your shoulders your pets.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Into vulnerable positions.
- 11:20Speaker 3: So, like, I don't think you're wrong in saying that
- 11:22Speaker 3: the six again rule has really brought fatigue into the game,
- 11:26Speaker 3: which is then seeing more expansive attack and some really
- 11:31Speaker 3: great footage to watch. But the risk and reward is
- 11:34Speaker 3: the risk side is we're seeing more players being injured.
- 11:37Speaker 3: And from a Broncos point of view, I like to
- 11:40Speaker 3: say some of our best players.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Are the ones that are they're getting injured.
- 11:44Speaker 3: And so if we want to see our best players
- 11:46Speaker 3: out in the field for longer periods of time, we
- 11:49Speaker 3: want these guys to have one hundred, two hundred, three
- 11:52Speaker 3: hundred game careers. They're not going to get there if
- 11:54Speaker 3: the game continues the way it's going to. And you
- 11:57Speaker 3: can almost say goodbye to the big man as well,
- 11:59Speaker 3: because it.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And it's been my face. Last year, I actually had
- 12:04Speaker 1: this kind of say. I can't remember who it was from,
- 12:09Speaker 1: but we.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Was worried about this. Last year. I started seeing more
- 12:13Speaker 4: and more.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Head knocks and and and injuries like your knees, your leaguements,
- 12:17Speaker 1: your hemmy's like and I think this year has proven
- 12:21Speaker 1: that like it is too it is too much, it's
- 12:24Speaker 1: way too there's way too much fatigue.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Like you put more.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Speed in the game, and we've got less interchange than
- 12:30Speaker 1: we had six years ago.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, right, And then and then they've tried to
- 12:34Speaker 3: then fix that by going, no, you're can have six
- 12:36Speaker 3: people on the bench.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and that doesn't mean you can use all six,
- 12:40Speaker 1: use four exactly unless you have to.
- 12:44Speaker 4: But then you're still down one.
- 12:45Speaker 7: Player, yeah right, you know, And and as you were
- 12:49Speaker 7: saying last week, we've taken the big hits out of
- 12:51Speaker 7: the game, yeah, because because there's no time for anyone
- 12:54Speaker 7: to be run, no time to.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Have big hits now.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But then when they when they're trying to go for
- 12:58Speaker 1: a big hit, like because they like the fatigue, that
- 13:01Speaker 1: the decision making is slower, poorer, their bodies aren't moving properly.
- 13:05Speaker 1: You know, you're you're being a little bit lazy in
- 13:09Speaker 1: that dip. And if you don't dip.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Enough, now, there's no dip.
- 13:12Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. If you don't dip and dip, if.
- 13:18Speaker 4: You go in and his head. Actually, Like if you
- 13:21Speaker 4: hit him that hard.
- 13:22Speaker 1: And you get even head on head contact, now I'm like,
- 13:26Speaker 1: where do you how do you fix it?
- 13:28Speaker 4: Like you can't? Like you can't.
- 13:30Speaker 1: And now they're trying to slow the game down in
- 13:32Speaker 1: a way, so people are catching more, you know, so
- 13:35Speaker 1: they're trying to slow the game, but they can't.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Then they get penalized.
- 13:37Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, or six again, what do you mean catching
- 13:40Speaker 6: just like.
- 13:40Speaker 4: You catch the first hitter?
- 13:41Speaker 3: Is you know, you don't actually tackling, you don't. Actually,
- 13:44Speaker 3: it's more of a wrestling move where it's yeah, it's
- 13:46Speaker 3: like kind of a hug. Essentially, you're still hitting with
- 13:50Speaker 3: the shoulder enough to make contact and stop, but then
- 13:53Speaker 3: you're trying to hold up stand tall.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Which the more danger into the guy holding the ball
- 13:58Speaker 1: because and then the chance.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Of the knees coming under there.
- 14:02Speaker 3: The third guy that's going to come in and tackle
- 14:04Speaker 3: you around the leg is now is a little bit fatigued.
- 14:06Speaker 3: He might, you know, have made thirty tackles already. Then
- 14:09Speaker 3: he's not coming in with the same intent. He's maybe
- 14:12Speaker 3: coming in a little bit lazy. That's when he start
- 14:14Speaker 3: seeing the hip drops happen.
- 14:15Speaker 1: So yeah, there's a lot to go through, but I
- 14:21Speaker 1: think there's been enough to show that, you know, it's
- 14:24Speaker 1: a it's a reason and making the game more exciting
- 14:27Speaker 1: is actually then made it more dangerous.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Six to play.
- 14:32Speaker 7: Yeah, and I guess we've got to mention the dragons,
- 14:36Speaker 7: like is there any hope for them?
- 14:38Speaker 6: But it's just it's just been awful. What's going to
- 14:42Speaker 6: happen Magic Ground?
- 14:43Speaker 4: I say you can have your they're playing the Panthers.
- 14:45Speaker 6: They're playing the Panthers.
- 14:46Speaker 4: The last game of round, so yeah, I don't know. Look,
- 14:53Speaker 4: they're playing they're playing eleven dollars.
- 14:56Speaker 7: Okay, Well, we're going to come back and talk about
- 14:59Speaker 7: every game in Magic Round, and we'll also get to
- 15:02Speaker 7: get the Queensland Origin team from you too, so we'll
- 15:05Speaker 7: do that in the in the podcast properly your whole team,
- 15:08Speaker 7: the whole team, So we'll do that in the podcast,
- 15:11Speaker 7: will drop tomorrow. Don't forget to follow us and send
- 15:13Speaker 7: us a screenshot when you do through our socials and
- 15:16Speaker 7: you can grab yourself for a ticket in the meat tray.
- 15:18Speaker 6: We're going to do that that draw on tomorrow's podcast.
