- 0:02Speaker 2: Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Freshly made with Reburger.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Welcome to the Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Oh, g'day, you mad bastards.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Great having your company on this glorious Thursday afternoon. It
- 0:23Speaker 3: is the 24th of September, 2026. And you, my friends,
- 0:26Speaker 3: as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you
- 0:29Speaker 3: by Reburger.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Craveworthy street food, freshly made with Reburger.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Craveworthy.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah, great stuff.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Speaking of which, Mogi's wearing a very, very tight black
- 0:43Speaker 3: T-shirt today, and I'm loving it.
- 0:45Speaker 1: How are you going, you stallion? Going pretty grousey, you
- 0:48Speaker 1: mad dog, you sick son of a bee. Another beautiful
- 0:51Speaker 1: day here in Auckland City. Me and Keezy have been
- 0:54Speaker 1: loving it. Talking about how lucky we are to be alive.
- 0:56Speaker 1: And then old Horty J comes in, effing and jeffing,
- 0:58Speaker 1: complaining about the wind. What's going on with you, man?
- 1:01Speaker 1: You're not getting enough sleep. What's happening?
- 1:03Speaker 3: It's freezing cold. You know, when you're walking about the CBD,
- 1:07Speaker 3: as I do all the time now, as you can imagine, fellas,
- 1:11Speaker 3: it just creates all these wind tunnels. So you go, oh,
- 1:14Speaker 3: I'll go into this street because this street's a wind tunnel,
- 1:17Speaker 3: and then, boom, somehow it changes direction, and that's a
- 1:21Speaker 3: wind tunnel too. Having said that, the sun is beautiful.
- 1:25Speaker 1: How are you going, Casey, man?
- 1:27Speaker 4: You're not too bad, fellas. You guys are the first
- 1:30Speaker 4: people I've spoken to today. I've just been at home
- 1:32Speaker 4: alone packing up my house, just doing odd jobs. And
- 1:36Speaker 4: then I came into work and then someone said g'day
- 1:38Speaker 4: and I said hello and it was the first thing
- 1:39Speaker 4: I'd said all day.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yeah. Really weird.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Do you not talk to yourself at home? Nah. God,
- 1:44Speaker 1: I hear it, man. You are an odd fish.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Am I? Wow, what should I be doing?
- 1:48Speaker 1: You're a odd fish.
- 1:50Speaker 3: You were saying there was a few tears as well, Keezy,
- 1:54Speaker 3: as you were packing up the joint, finding old photos
- 1:56Speaker 3: and memories and old dillies and stuff and that sort
- 2:01Speaker 3: of thing. It's an emotional time, isn't it, packing up
- 2:04Speaker 3: the joint?
- 2:05Speaker 4: I found one of my old dillies and I burst
- 2:07Speaker 4: into tears. Yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 1: You said it was down to a nub.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Come on, man, it's the first break of the show.
- 2:17Speaker 4: it was down to enough though god what's happening on
- 2:23Speaker 4: the big show with old mogi.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Oh god this one there I don't know hey Keezy
- 2:34Speaker 5: man what's up what now you're going to need old
- 2:38Speaker 5: hoity J and my help you need a little bit
- 2:40Speaker 5: of advice a little bit of support you're going to
- 2:43Speaker 5: be away you're going to need us to look after
- 2:45Speaker 5: you a little bit man I don't know Yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:48Speaker 4: While I'm away, I just need someone to come around
- 2:50Speaker 4: and just sort of clean up all the nubs I've
- 2:52Speaker 4: left around my joint.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Because there's like 50 of them. Oh, bad boy nubby
- 2:56Speaker 1: over here. Jase, you've been accused of thieving. And given
- 3:00Speaker 1: your wreck around here, I wouldn't be surprised if that
- 3:02Speaker 1: was the truth.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Come on, man.
- 3:03Speaker 1: You're a shocking bastard. Bloody, it was outrageous. And up next, fellas,
- 3:09Speaker 1: we released a video on socials overnight about what we
- 3:12Speaker 1: think Warriors fans should do. not sell their tickets for
- 3:15Speaker 1: the grand final. 25% of all tickets sold have been
- 3:18Speaker 1: bought by Warriors fans. Do you know, if we don't go, Keezy,
- 3:23Speaker 1: 32,000 seats out of a possible 80,000 sit empty. What
- 3:27Speaker 1: a statement. Yeah, man. What a way to stick it up.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Powerful statement. Power to the people, Keezy.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Up the wide.
- 3:33Speaker 4: That's not 25% of 80, is it?
- 3:35Speaker 1: That's close enough.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Is it? Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I don't know if it is.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Oh.
- 3:40Speaker 5: June.
- 3:40Speaker 1: June.
- 3:41Speaker 4: June.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Are you going to say the artist?
- 3:45Speaker 3: The temper trap.
- 3:46Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yes, indeed.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Pearl Jam there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 3:55Speaker 3: Thursday afternoon. The time is 4.13 and fellas, controversy hits
- 3:59Speaker 3: the big show.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Absolutely. We had an idea a couple of days ago.
- 4:04Speaker 1: We were really surreal about it. Last night, it's absolutely exploded.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Sure has. Eight million views overnight. Unreal.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And this was just around the idea that, you know,
- 4:15Speaker 1: with the Warriors' loss over the weekend, back-to-back losses in
- 4:18Speaker 1: the finals, you know, that you can put entirely at
- 4:21Speaker 1: the feet of the referees there and the bunker. Absolutely robbed. Shocking. Shocking.
- 4:28Speaker 1: It was disgraceful, and I think the entire country, not
- 4:30Speaker 1: only New Zealand, but Australia agrees as well, based on
- 4:34Speaker 1: all the rhetoric that's come out of all the rugby
- 4:36Speaker 1: league shows and podcasts over there. So we came up
- 4:38Speaker 1: with an idea here, and that was that all the
- 4:41Speaker 1: Warriors fans, and there's 25% of all tickets sold to
- 4:45Speaker 1: the grand final were bought by Warriors fans. Yes. Not Kiwis,
- 4:48Speaker 1: not New Zealanders, but Warriors fans. So 20,000 of the
- 4:51Speaker 1: 80,000 there, because people had, they were living the dream.
- 4:56Speaker 1: We believed. I was one of those people that bought
- 4:58Speaker 1: a ticket, had flights to go to the grand final
- 5:00Speaker 1: because I genuinely believed that this year, out of all
- 5:03Speaker 1: of the years, was going to be our years. Yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 1: had that vibe about it, man. And then what happens?
- 5:08Speaker 1: You get a couple of shocking bastard refs that walk
- 5:10Speaker 1: out there and ruin it for everybody. Now, the obvious
- 5:13Speaker 1: thing to do would be for all the Warriors fans
- 5:15Speaker 1: to sell their tickets to the fans of the two
- 5:17Speaker 1: teams that eventually make it into the grand final.
- 5:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:20Speaker 1: But we had the idea here. What about if we
- 5:23Speaker 1: don't do that? What about if all of the Warriors
- 5:26Speaker 1: fans out there agree that we're not going to sell
- 5:28Speaker 1: our tickets, that instead, as a protest, those seats sit
- 5:33Speaker 1: empty on grand final day?
- 5:35Speaker 3: That'd be great.
- 5:36Speaker 1: 20,000 empty seats, a silent protest.
- 5:40Speaker 3: The most powerful protest of all is the silent protest.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I think so.
- 5:44Speaker 3: I mean, you can bang on about these things. Well,
- 5:46Speaker 3: we were talking about this yesterday, weren't we? The silent treatment.
- 5:49Speaker 1: That's right.
- 5:50Speaker 3: So that they can feel the rage permeating from this
- 5:55Speaker 3: country and all of, as you mentioned, Mogi, all the
- 5:58Speaker 3: fans over in Australia as well.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Exactly right. As you say, Jase, you know, one of
- 6:02Speaker 1: the great weapons that you've got in a relationship is
- 6:05Speaker 1: the silent treatment. Yes. You know, when you and your
- 6:08Speaker 1: partner have got a disagreement about something, can you just,
- 6:11Speaker 1: you know, some people would say you get the pip.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Yeah, you're having a big sulk.
- 6:14Speaker 1: That's right. Some people call it petty, but you just
- 6:17Speaker 1: go quiet for days and days and days there, but
- 6:19Speaker 1: they get the picture. Yes, they do. And this would
- 6:21Speaker 1: be the silent treatment on the most grand of scales
- 6:25Speaker 1: and the most grand of days, the grand final day.
- 6:29Speaker 4: A lot of people reacting differently in the comments, fellas.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah. You know... Well, it's a big idea, Keezy. It
- 6:35Speaker 1: takes a lot to get your head around it.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Oh, it certainly does. This person here, Shelby, says, best
- 6:39Speaker 4: way to make a statement to the NRL.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Laughy emoji. I don't know why she's laughing because this
- 6:44Speaker 4: is serious. Simon says, you obviously didn't pay $ 450 for
- 6:50Speaker 4: a ticket, $ 2, 000 on flights and $ 2, 000 on hotels, did you?
- 6:53Speaker 3: Wrong.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yeah, you did all that.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Mogi doesn't care, man. He's going to take the loss
- 6:57Speaker 4: on the tickets and the flights.
- 6:59Speaker 1: That's right.
- 6:59Speaker 4: Yeah, because he doesn't care. Someone here is saying 50
- 7:04Speaker 4: cent level trolling. Are we trolling?
- 7:06Speaker 1: Are we not trolling? Well, I think that's sort of
- 7:09Speaker 1: when 50 Cent, he bought out the first 20 rows
- 7:13Speaker 1: of a Ja Rule concert. Oh, that's right. So when
- 7:15Speaker 1: Ja Rule came out, he had to perform to the
- 7:17Speaker 1: first 20 rows were all empty.
- 7:18Speaker 3: How good. I'd never heard that before.
- 7:22Speaker 1: That's great.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good stuff.
- 7:24Speaker 4: But a lot of people saying, great idea.
- 7:27Speaker 1: This one here, Keezy. This is the sookiest, most pathetic
- 7:31Speaker 1: thing I've seen in League. Well done. Yeah. It's hard
- 7:37Speaker 1: not to get on board for this level of pettiness.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:39Speaker 4: This person here, I was planning to still go, but
- 7:42Speaker 4: I might not now.
- 7:44Speaker 1: See, we're changing lives. Absolutely, mate.
- 7:49Speaker 3: And this is the thing with big, bold ideas. As
- 7:52Speaker 3: you say, Moki, you know, you've got to be brave
- 7:55Speaker 3: to take them. They'll always be the naysayers, if you will.
- 8:00Speaker 3: That will be like, oh, no, go, you sulky little bastards.
- 8:04Speaker 3: But no, it's a silent, powerful protest.
- 8:08Speaker 1: This one here, five empty seats right here doing my bit. Boom. Backbone.
- 8:12Speaker 1: That is backbone.
- 8:13Speaker 3: At the wars.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Well, this one, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 8:16Speaker 4: I thought I was petty, but this would be epic.
- 8:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Correct. It would be epic.
- 8:21Speaker 4: So the Aussies are on board with it, fellas.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so. I think so.
- 8:25Speaker 4: So, look, I'm excited. I can't wait to watch the
- 8:27Speaker 4: grand final. Flick it on, see it half empty, and
- 8:30Speaker 4: then turn it off again.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. So the message is, if you've got mates
- 8:34Speaker 1: or family that are going, send the reel to them
- 8:36Speaker 1: or give them a bell and just tell them, man,
- 8:38Speaker 1: the silent protest is on. The silent protest is on.
- 8:44Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 8:47Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Radio here there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 8:53Speaker 3: Thursday afternoon. The time is 4.26 and fellas, I had
- 8:57Speaker 3: a strange encounter today. Strange encounters of the hoity.
- 9:06Speaker 1: My wife was at work.
- 9:10Speaker 3: And after lying on the couch for several hours with
- 9:12Speaker 3: my hands down my trackies, I decided that I needed
- 9:16Speaker 3: to go and get some dinner ingredients.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Did you wash your hands first?
- 9:20Speaker 3: No.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Did you put proper pants on?
- 9:24Speaker 1: Yes. Nice. But I didn't shower. Gross. Kept my filthy
- 9:29Speaker 1: undies on.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Anyway, I came up, got my car out of the
- 9:33Speaker 3: car park, which I don't often do, and went to
- 9:37Speaker 3: what you might describe as an upmarket kind of supermarket.
- 9:42Speaker 3: I don't want to name names.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Is it one that we've been pronouncing wrong for our
- 9:45Speaker 1: whole lives?
- 9:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah, good.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Anyway, I got various items, and I was going up
- 9:53Speaker 3: to the counter, and as I got to the counter
- 9:56Speaker 3: to pay, this very.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Eccentric older lady came up to my counter and went
- 10:06Speaker 3: straight up to the woman at the counter.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Now, when I say.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Eccentric, I'd say she would be about 70s, in her 70s,
- 10:15Speaker 3: dressed very, very extravagantly.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Sort of an entitled ear to her.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Yes, you could say that. Massive big sunnies. She was
- 10:25Speaker 3: wearing sunglasses.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Inside.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Inside the supermarket. And her clothing had a kind of
- 10:33Speaker 3: safari theme.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Nice.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Right, so leopard print stuff.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it was.
- 10:38Speaker 3: I'm not kidding. When I looked at it, I went,
- 10:42Speaker 3: that's a bold look. It's a bold look. Anyway, she
- 10:47Speaker 3: totted up to the counter there and she said, has
- 10:50Speaker 3: someone handed in a credit card? And the woman behind
- 10:53Speaker 3: the counter went, no, I don't think so. And she said, oh,
- 10:57Speaker 3: I was just in here and I seem to have
- 11:01Speaker 3: lost my credit card.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And the woman behind the counter went, oh, okay, well,
- 11:04Speaker 1: I'll go and check.
- 11:05Speaker 3: And she went and got this box and came back
- 11:08Speaker 3: and she had a bag, like a plastic bag full
- 11:10Speaker 3: of cards.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 11:12Speaker 3: And she said, well, you can look in there, but
- 11:14Speaker 3: no one's handed one in since you've left. And then
- 11:19Speaker 3: this old woman looked at me and she said, have
- 11:21Speaker 3: you got it?
- 11:23Speaker 1: And I went, no. Did you?
- 11:26Speaker 5: No.
- 11:26Speaker 1: No.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Because she came in from the, you know, the entrance.
- 11:31Speaker 1: I was coming from the aisle.
- 11:32Speaker 3: So it was like, and she was like, oh, I
- 11:34Speaker 3: thought you were behind me. But no, that's okay. And
- 11:37Speaker 3: she was effing and jeffing looking through the.
- 11:40Speaker 1: They let her go through other people's cards.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Well, it was just all these cards. Yeah. But she
- 11:44Speaker 3: didn't take. Well, I don't know.
- 11:46Speaker 1: She could have just taken anyone.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Because she took it to the sort of side area
- 11:50Speaker 3: where there was boxes and stuff. It was rifling through it.
- 11:53Speaker 3: And she said, no, no, it's not here. And gave
- 11:55Speaker 3: it back to her and sort of totted off. And
- 11:58Speaker 3: I was like, oh, how about that? I got accused
- 12:00Speaker 3: of theft. It's outrageous.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I mean, you've got to look about you, man.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Well, the irony is, actually, on this particular day, I
- 12:08Speaker 3: actually had thieved something. Right.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Just old habit, you know? Chips?
- 12:13Speaker 3: No, no. It was a sourdough baguette, which I'd shoved
- 12:17Speaker 3: down the front of my pants there.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But fortunately, no one could tell the difference. So I
- 12:22Speaker 1: got away with it. Was this whole thing.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Just to set up so you can make a joke
- 12:27Speaker 4: about having a massive downstairs.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I think the point here is it's no joke, Keezy.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Stealing isn't funny, Keezy. Oh, come on.
- 12:37Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 12:41Speaker 3: We've no more there on the Hodaki Big Show this
- 12:44Speaker 3: Thursday afternoon.
- 12:45Speaker 1: The time is 4.39.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Now listen, the Big Show's got together with our mates
- 12:48Speaker 3: from Emerson's Brewery again, fellas. And they've made a hazy
- 12:53Speaker 3: ale and they need a name for it.
- 12:58Speaker 1: I think I'll have myself a beer.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Big Show.
- 13:04Speaker 2: The Radio Hauraki Big Show.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Name our beer. Anything to add to that, Keezy? Nah, nah,
- 13:10Speaker 1: he nailed it.
- 13:11Speaker 3: What is it?
- 13:12Speaker 4: A tropical hazy pale ale.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Oh, pale ale.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yeah, well, yeah.
- 13:15Speaker 4: It's a hazy ale.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Yes.
- 13:16Speaker 4: But it's tropically hazy and it's a pale ale.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Fruity for the summer.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Certainly is. It's to celebrate the 2026 Dunedin Craft Beer
- 13:23Speaker 4: and Food Festival. They're making it special for the big show.
- 13:26Speaker 4: It just needs a name. Text the name through to 3483.
- 13:30Speaker 1: We've got a whole heap of.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Great Emerson's hoodies to give away, so you might as
- 13:32Speaker 4: well get stuck in. Now, before we read some names,
- 13:35Speaker 4: we've actually got Xavier from Nelson on the line.
- 13:38Speaker 1: G'day, Xavier, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, good. Yourself?
- 13:41Speaker 3: Yeah, good.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Thanks, mate.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Good, good. What do you do for a crust, Xavier?
- 13:45Speaker 1: Data and systems engineer. Oh, yeah, backbone, backbone.
- 13:48Speaker 3: You got a name for us.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Do you?
- 13:50Speaker 2: Mogi's Hazy Stinkhole.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Mogi's Hazy Stinkhole. I like that because what... Do you?
- 13:58Speaker 1: What that does is it sort of refers to the
- 14:00Speaker 1: sinkhole that was around the corner of my place. There's
- 14:03Speaker 1: a sinkhole there. They're still working on it. They've also
- 14:05Speaker 1: now closed the footpaths. They can't even walk down there anymore.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Shocking bastards. Which is a mogi's stinkhole. But if you
- 14:12Speaker 1: chuck a hazy in it, mogi's hazy stinkhole. Now, does
- 14:16Speaker 1: the word stinkhole somehow relate to any kind of beer?
- 14:18Speaker 1: Not really.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Longboat.
- 14:21Speaker 1: It's a long bow, but it's got a ring to it.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Hey, Xavier, thanks, mate.
- 14:24Speaker 1: It's certainly got a ring to it.
- 14:26Speaker 4: You've got yourself an Emerson's hoodie, all right?
- 14:28Speaker 1: You have a good day. Cheers, Casey.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Same to you.
- 14:30Speaker 1: You're a backbone. Yeah, good stuff.
- 14:33Speaker 4: A lot of text coming through, fellas. They're not much better. Sorry,
- 14:34Speaker 4: what was that name again?
- 14:36Speaker 3: Mogi's Hazy Stinkhole.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought so.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I don't want to wrap my lips around one of them, man.
- 14:42Speaker 1: It's disgusting. Of course you do, man. Once you've had
- 14:43Speaker 1: one of those bastards. It's not going back.
- 14:46Speaker 4: The good news is, fellas, the text, far more classy
- 14:49Speaker 4: than that.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Hazy Mangina.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, good. What the hell? How do you get to that?
- 14:58Speaker 1: How do you get to that? I don't know, man.
- 15:00Speaker 1: It's got nothing to do with beer.
- 15:01Speaker 4: Jase's Juicy Backside, done as the douche. Easy Weezy Keezy
- 15:09Speaker 4: Pale Ale. I'm pretty sure every single one we've had
- 15:12Speaker 4: so far has somehow been downstairs related.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Yeah, totally.
- 15:15Speaker 4: Call the Beer Hazy Nip 69.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Oh, that's upstairs.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Throbber Juice. Jizz Down Under. What? Hoyt Hops and Honkers. Although, fellas,
- 15:27Speaker 4: I did have a message from a listener over in London, actually.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Her name is Claudia, and she sent one through.
- 15:32Speaker 1: She sent it up.
- 15:34Speaker 4: No, just Claudia. And she says, hey, Keezy, I can't
- 15:38Speaker 4: text because I'm overseas, but I'd like the beer to
- 15:41Speaker 4: be called Chili Dog. So when someone asks what you're drinking,
- 15:45Speaker 4: you can say, I'm sucking on a Chili Dog.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Sucking on a Chili Dog.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Sucking on a Chili Dog. Sucking on a Chili Dog.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Which is a John Mellencamp reference.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff. Well, keep those. I think we're out
- 16:00Speaker 1: of ideas.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Well, look, Yummy Boy Nectar. F-ing and Jeff-ing hazy.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Do you know what I'm saying, though?
- 16:07Speaker 4: Paranormal haze. Sleepy hazy. The frothy frobber. Hazy daisy. Dooge, dooge, haze.
- 16:16Speaker 4: There's lots of good names coming through. We get the point.
- 16:18Speaker 1: 3483. Keep them coming.
- 16:19Speaker 4: We're going to dish out some Emerson's hoodies. Get stuck in.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Beautiful.
- 16:22Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Tune in weekdays at 4 on Pluto there on the
- 16:30Speaker 3: Hodaki Big Show this Thursday afternoon.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Fellas, let's talk TV.
- 16:36Speaker 3: What's on the telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah! That's right.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Fellas?
- 16:49Speaker 1: Last night, fellas, I watched a movie. Don't watch many
- 16:53Speaker 1: of those these days, but there I was. It's called
- 16:57Speaker 1: Moss and Freud. This story is about supermodel Kate Moss.
- 17:03Speaker 1: She embarks on a journey of self-discovery when acclaimed artist
- 17:06Speaker 1: Lucian Freud offers to paint her portrait. Okay. You like that?
- 17:13Speaker 1: What made you want to watch that? Well, my wife
- 17:16Speaker 1: wanted to watch it. And sometimes, Kezi, you've got to
- 17:19Speaker 1: do things you don't like, man. Yeah, Kezi. But it
- 17:22Speaker 1: had a... It had an air of promise around it,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I've got to say. It's made by a Kiwi guy
- 17:28Speaker 1: who apparently won an Academy Award for a short film,
- 17:31Speaker 1: which I don't remember hearing about because you'd think we
- 17:33Speaker 1: would have made a massive deal over it. But it's
- 17:37Speaker 1: sort of a co-production. So weirdly, it's sort of funded
- 17:39Speaker 1: by the New Zealand Film Commission, or a portion of
- 17:41Speaker 1: it is, to support a New Zealand filmmaker, but it's
- 17:44Speaker 1: entirely set in London.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 17:46Speaker 1: There and thereabouts, which I normally would tell a New
- 17:48Speaker 1: Zealand story, Keezy. Anyway, there you are. It looks good.
- 17:55Speaker 1: It looks good. The lady who plays Kate Moss is
- 17:58Speaker 1: really good, but it seems to be a lot of
- 18:00Speaker 1: trying to drill down on the fact that she's a
- 18:02Speaker 1: party girl, number one. She smokes a lot of cigarettes.
- 18:05Speaker 1: She does. She smokes a lot of ciggies in the skeezy,
- 18:09Speaker 1: and she likes to throw her head back and laugh
- 18:11Speaker 1: a lot, and that's pretty much all I took out
- 18:13Speaker 1: of it. It sounds boring. It took a while to
- 18:18Speaker 1: get anywhere, and I'm not sure it ever did. Is
- 18:21Speaker 1: that a story worth turning into a movie?
- 18:23Speaker 4: Because I feel like nowadays they're just sort of looking
- 18:26Speaker 4: for anything.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Well, absolutely. There's a million stories out there to be told.
- 18:31Speaker 1: I guess this is an interesting... He was the grandson
- 18:35Speaker 1: of Sigmund Freud, so that's interesting. He was a successful
- 18:39Speaker 1: artist in his own right, absolutely. And he photographed Hitler,
- 18:44Speaker 1: which is an interesting thing as well. But that sort
- 18:45Speaker 1: of makes up about three sentences of chat. I don't know.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Maybe not for me. I'll be honest with you. I'll
- 18:52Speaker 1: leave my wife to it. I'll give it a two
- 18:55Speaker 1: and a... I think if you're into Kate Moss, you'd
- 18:57Speaker 1: love it. If you're also into nudity, you probably might
- 19:00Speaker 1: love it as well. Okay, what was this on? That's
- 19:05Speaker 1: on Apple. I think it was $ 2. 99. That's cheap. I've
- 19:09Speaker 1: got to sort that subscription out. So that was Moss
- 19:14Speaker 1: and Freud. Okay.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Moss and Freud.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I just wrote that in the chat.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Hey, fellas. I stumbled upon a romantic movie today.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Oh, here we go. Was it Boston Freud? If you
- 19:26Speaker 1: say it's Sheena, I'm going to slap you.
- 19:28Speaker 3: No, it wasn't Sheena. It's called Last Chance Harvey, starring
- 19:34Speaker 3: Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson. Yes, that's my reaction to.
- 19:40Speaker 3: It's basically the story of, oh, where's it gone? Harvey Schein,
- 19:45Speaker 3: who's a jingles writer, and he kind of loses his job.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Sort of like. Show Us Your Crack.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Show Us Your Crack. He's sort of a Ben Boyce type.
- 19:54Speaker 3: He wanted to be a famous jazz pianist, but he
- 19:57Speaker 3: wasn't quite good enough, and he did jingles, but he
- 20:00Speaker 3: loses his job.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Jazz pianist.
- 20:03Speaker 3: And he's sitting in the bar, and he comes across
- 20:05Speaker 3: Emma Thompson, who works at the airport that he's in.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Anyway, long story short, it's very romantic and so forth.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Was it romantic to you, James?
- 20:14Speaker 3: I actually cried.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Oh.
- 20:16Speaker 3: I genuinely cried because Shine, the character, Dustin Hoffman's character,
- 20:21Speaker 3: he's got a daughter who's getting married, but they've grown
- 20:24Speaker 3: really apart.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:26Speaker 3: But they both actually really love each other. Yeah.
- 20:29Speaker 1: But there's this.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Her mother has remarried another guy, and she loves the
- 20:36Speaker 3: other guy. He's kind of turned into her dad.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Right.
- 20:40Speaker 3: And there's this very sort of ooh moment where she's
- 20:42Speaker 3: talking to the shine character, her actual dad, and says, Dad,
- 20:46Speaker 3: I'm going to.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Get Alex to walk me down the aisle. And it's like, ooh,
- 20:50Speaker 1: that hurts.
- 20:51Speaker 3: But anyway, there's a beautiful scene in the actual wedding
- 20:54Speaker 3: where he's sort of seated far from the main table.
- 20:58Speaker 3: and Alex, the stepdad, is up with her and stuff.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Is he sort of a bit of a winner, a
- 21:02Speaker 1: bit younger, pretty cool?
- 21:03Speaker 3: No, he's the same sort of age, but everyone loves
- 21:06Speaker 3: him and blah, blah, blah. And he goes, ding, ding, ding, right,
- 21:09Speaker 3: as father of the bride, blah, blah, blah. And then
- 21:14Speaker 3: Dustin Hoffman character goes, ding, ding, ding, and stands up
- 21:19Speaker 3: and says, with the greatest of respect, Alex, I'm her father.
- 21:24Speaker 3: And actually does quite a beautiful speech to his daughter.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And is very gracious to this other man, Alex. And
- 21:30Speaker 3: it made me cry. Oh, that's good. I got all
- 21:33Speaker 3: sentimental with it.
- 21:34Speaker 1: That's nice.
- 21:35Speaker 3: You know, look, it's a good... They're both really good actors,
- 21:38Speaker 3: Thompson and Hoffman. And it's very sweet.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Who played the stepfather? I can't remember his name.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Yeah. He's familiar, but he's not that familiar.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Right, okay. Good looking fella, though. Oh, I bet he is.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Now, look. A solid three buzzies, Keezy.
- 21:53Speaker 1: What are you talking about? You cried. You can't give
- 21:55Speaker 1: it three if it made you cry. Well, that was.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Okay, look.
- 21:58Speaker 4: You gave Sheena more than that.
- 22:00Speaker 1: You did. You gave Sheena.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Sheena had another effect on me, but look. Okay, I'll
- 22:06Speaker 3: give it four buzzies.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Good on you, mate.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Thanks, mate.
- 22:08Speaker 1: And that's out of a possible five.
- 22:09Speaker 3: I think your wife would really like it, Keezy. Samsung.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Samsung TV.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Cool.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Hey, coming up after five, fellas, I've got quite a
- 22:17Speaker 4: massive favour to ask of you guys. A massive favor
- 22:20Speaker 4: to ask. Always got your hand out.
- 22:23Speaker 1: I know, man. Far out.
- 22:25Speaker 4: It involves doing something while I'm away on holiday, and
- 22:28Speaker 4: it's huge.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Okay, man.
- 22:30Speaker 4: So I'm going to need your help.
- 22:35Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 22:38Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're staggering through your
- 22:44Speaker 3: Thursday afternoon. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought
- 22:47Speaker 3: to you by Re-Burger.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Handcrafted burgers, gourmet eats, loaded fries, all of which will
- 22:53Speaker 4: change the game.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Re-Burger! I don't know, I just....
- 23:04Speaker 3: What?
- 23:04Speaker 1: I just sort of feel like Pugs is kind of.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Because, you know, we're fans of his work and stuff.
- 23:10Speaker 3: I just feel like he just gave me a sort
- 23:11Speaker 3: of shoulder shrug there. Like, oh, no, man.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Good enough. That'll do for now.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Maybe he's just tapped out. You had a big one yesterday, man.
- 23:20Speaker 4: You had like a 40-second one. You said barely anything
- 23:23Speaker 4: about that, man.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Can't even remember that one.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Okay, all right, man.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Jeez, back off.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Jeez. Back off. You know, I just looked over into...
- 23:32Speaker 1: I looked over into B's studio before and he had
- 23:35Speaker 1: a bag of chocolates and he was guzzling them.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Salted peanuts, actually.
- 23:40Speaker 1: The whole bag. Just absolutely opening his gullet and just
- 23:44Speaker 1: absolutely giving himself death. I was throating it.
- 23:46Speaker 4: It was, yeah, they were delicious.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Pugs.
- 23:49Speaker 1: That's enough. Come on, man. It's gross.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Come on here and talk about guzzling chocolates?
- 23:57Speaker 3: Jesus.
- 23:59Speaker 1: It's not appropriate.
- 24:00Speaker 3: We have a certain standard on this show. Do we? Massively. Massively.
- 24:05Speaker 1: We do have a certain standard. Yes.
- 24:08Speaker 4: Hey, fellas, coming up next, I've got a massive favour
- 24:11Speaker 4: to ask of you guys. It might be the biggest
- 24:13Speaker 4: favour I've ever asked. It might be the biggest favour
- 24:17Speaker 4: I've ever asked of either of you.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Keane. And you can always say no, of course. Yes.
- 24:22Speaker 4: But it would help me out if you said yes.
- 24:24Speaker 1: No. I haven't even asked you yet.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I'm just getting in early, Keezy. Stone Temple Pilots.
- 24:35Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Yes, indeed.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Jet there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon.
- 24:43Speaker 1: The time is 5.13.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Fellas, I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks' time.
- 24:47Speaker 4: I'm going to Japan.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Man.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Which I'm very excited about. Yeah, I know.
- 24:50Speaker 4: I'm fizzed up. I've never been before. I'm also, I've
- 24:55Speaker 4: sold my house, my first house I've sold it, and
- 24:58Speaker 4: I have to be out by the end of October, right?
- 25:01Speaker 4: Which means the next few weeks are kind of, if
- 25:03Speaker 4: I want to avoid maybe getting a rental in the interim,
- 25:07Speaker 4: I have to basically find a house, buy it, and
- 25:11Speaker 4: line it up so that I can move in at
- 25:12Speaker 4: the end of next month. I'm also away on holiday
- 25:14Speaker 4: for two weeks. So it's kind of, everything's happening at once.
- 25:18Speaker 3: It's quite stressful.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Yeah. You want Mogi and I to go on the holiday?
- 25:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 1: So you can stay at home. You think that's the
- 25:25Speaker 1: favour I'm asking? Well, the thing about Elizabeth, you've got
- 25:27Speaker 1: a huge decision coming up. You've got to buy a house.
- 25:30Speaker 1: You can't buy a house if you're not here. I
- 25:31Speaker 1: don't know if you know that. So the easiest thing
- 25:34Speaker 1: is that Hoity Joe and I go on the holiday.
- 25:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 4: Well, then who's going to go on your Australia holiday
- 25:38Speaker 4: with your family?
- 25:39Speaker 1: Oh, my wife. Pugs could do that.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, actually, pugs could do that, yeah, because we
- 25:42Speaker 3: won't be here.
- 25:43Speaker 1: So I stay here.
- 25:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:45Speaker 4: You and Mogi go on a cool trip that I've organised.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, we'll make a few changes to the itinerary.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I don't think we'll be aligned with, you know. Don't
- 25:51Speaker 1: want to do the bullet train or anything.
- 25:54Speaker 4: That's literally the how everyone gets okay uh anyway this
- 25:58Speaker 4: is getting this is by the by yes uh an
- 26:02Speaker 4: issue's popped up and this is something i was worried
- 26:03Speaker 4: about a house has popped up that i quite.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Like okay yeah um now i'm away.
- 26:09Speaker 4: This weekend in christchurch which is really annoying because that's
- 26:11Speaker 4: when the open homes are uh and then next weekend
- 26:15Speaker 4: i fly to japan so i'm gonna have to organize
- 26:17Speaker 4: a private viewing next week at some point i've still
- 26:19Speaker 4: got to organize it um And then the auction happens
- 26:23Speaker 4: while I'm still in Japan.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Gotcha.
- 26:26Speaker 4: So I've done some research into this, and I can
- 26:29Speaker 4: be on the phone at the auction, and they can
- 26:32Speaker 4: sort of scan or fax me across all the documents
- 26:35Speaker 4: to sign and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But it's
- 26:38Speaker 4: recommended that you have a trusted person there.
- 26:40Speaker 1: A man on the ground, as it were. Somebody to
- 26:42Speaker 1: hold the phone?
- 26:43Speaker 4: It doesn't have to be a man.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Or a woman. Okay, a woman. Great.
- 26:48Speaker 4: In this case, it would be men.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:51Speaker 4: I was thinking maybe you guys could attend the auction.
- 26:54Speaker 4: I'll be on the phone, and I will have signed
- 26:56Speaker 4: everything and given you authority to bid on my part.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Well, don't sign anything before it's decided.
- 27:03Speaker 1: On that note, Keezy, I don't know if we need
- 27:05Speaker 1: you on the phone. What do you mean? Well, because
- 27:08Speaker 1: you're on holiday, and it's a massive distraction. I think
- 27:11Speaker 1: you just send us along, and then you come home,
- 27:12Speaker 1: and you move into your new house.
- 27:14Speaker 4: But obviously, if the price gets out of reach, I
- 27:17Speaker 4: don't want to buy it.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Well, obviously. But then you just set a limit and
- 27:20Speaker 1: you stick to the limit. It doesn't require you. If
- 27:23Speaker 1: the limit is the limit, what's the problem?
- 27:26Speaker 3: Yeah, look, if there's one thing I know, Keezy, it's auctions.
- 27:30Speaker 3: All right?
- 27:31Speaker 4: Every time you've gone to auction, Jase, you've accidentally bought
- 27:33Speaker 4: the wrong thing.
- 27:35Speaker 3: So, yeah, I mean, Mogi's absolutely right.
- 27:38Speaker 4: No, no, look, I'd prefer if I was on the
- 27:40Speaker 4: phone because I can watch a live stream as well.
- 27:41Speaker 4: I can see it all. I'm on the phone, so
- 27:43Speaker 4: it's like I'm there. I just need a couple of
- 27:45Speaker 4: warm bodies there.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Right.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Just raising the old hand, and then you say, oh,
- 27:49Speaker 4: you know, the bidding's up to this much. I go,
- 27:51Speaker 4: add 10 grand or something, and then you bid. Is
- 27:53Speaker 4: that okay?
- 27:54Speaker 1: I don't really like being micromanaged like that. I just
- 27:57Speaker 1: want to have a little chat, and then you just
- 27:58Speaker 1: set us free. You'll set us free in the auction room.
- 28:02Speaker 4: I'd love to set you free, Moggy, but just not
- 28:05Speaker 4: in this particular situation.
- 28:06Speaker 1: There's too much on the line. I think you'll be
- 28:08Speaker 1: holding on too tight, Keezy. I think you'll bugger it up.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I'll bugger it up. I think you'll butcher it, man.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Already I've got a vibe like you're going to pay
- 28:15Speaker 1: too much. That's the vibe I'm getting. Because I can
- 28:18Speaker 1: hear you panic, can't I, down the phone line. You're
- 28:21Speaker 1: very sweaty at the moment too, Keezy. I can just
- 28:23Speaker 1: tell that. Jason and I ooze a certain amount of
- 28:26Speaker 1: cool when it comes to this sort of thing. Totally, man.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Can you read this face, Keezy?
- 28:31Speaker 1: Can you read it? No, you can't, can you? God
- 28:34Speaker 1: knows what's going on in there. Yeah.
- 28:37Speaker 4: There's so many lines as well. It'll take me an
- 28:39Speaker 4: eternity to read it. But fellas, I was hoping that
- 28:44Speaker 4: maybe you would agree to doing that.
- 28:45Speaker 1: How about this? Instead of... Why don't we do a
- 28:48Speaker 1: practice run? A dummy run. Dummy run, all right? Yeah, okay.
- 28:51Speaker 4: I'll be on the phone. We'll have someone playing an auctioneer,
- 28:53Speaker 4: maybe Mogi. Yeah. And Jase, you're bidding on my behalf.
- 28:56Speaker 1: All right? Sure, man. No problem. Let's do that next. Oh, yeah,
- 29:02Speaker 1: a bit of wheeze.
- 29:03Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 29:06Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Yes, indeed, the Foo Fighters there on the Hodaki Big
- 29:11Speaker 3: Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 5.25, which means
- 29:15Speaker 3: it's time for... Quiet on set. Sound speed. Lights.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Camera. Action.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Now it's time for the Big Show Improv.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Okay, this is the scenario.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Keezy's going to be overseas in Japan, and there's a
- 29:32Speaker 3: house that he's very interested in buying. There's going to
- 29:35Speaker 3: be an auction while he's away, and he wants to
- 29:38Speaker 3: know if one of us or both of us... us, Mogi,
- 29:41Speaker 3: could go to the live auction and have him on
- 29:43Speaker 3: the phone so potentially we could bid for him.
- 29:46Speaker 1: That's right. And look, it's an honour. It's a responsibility.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Can I say that? Sure is. Our feeling is we're
- 29:52Speaker 1: better off just leaving Keezy out of it completely because
- 29:55Speaker 1: he's going to bugger up because he stresses out too much.
- 29:57Speaker 1: He does. He does. But he's insisting, so we're going
- 29:59Speaker 1: to give it a little go. So I guess we
- 30:02Speaker 1: rip in. I'm going to be the auctioneer today. Yeah, nice.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I've got Pugs on here. He's going to be a
- 30:06Speaker 1: little bit of a bitter there, Jase. You're going to
- 30:08Speaker 1: be holding the phone and talking to Keezy. Yeah. Keezy,
- 30:11Speaker 1: can you hear us, mate?
- 30:13Speaker 3: G'day, guys.
- 30:13Speaker 4: Yeah, loud and clear.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Whereabouts in Japan are you?
- 30:18Speaker 1: Oh, I'm just in Tokyo, man. Okay, cool. Bloody good,
- 30:22Speaker 1: all right. Well, let's wrap in, eh? Yes, man. And action.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to today's auction. What an opportunity
- 30:32Speaker 1: we have here before us. A once-in-a-generation chance to own
- 30:36Speaker 1: what can only really be described as a house. Freestanding
- 30:42Speaker 1: for now. Three bedrooms, original. Original kitchen, original bathroom, north-facing deck,
- 30:49Speaker 1: south-facing mould, and lovely indoor-outdoor flow through a hole in
- 30:53Speaker 1: the lounge wall.
- 30:55Speaker 3: What?
- 30:57Speaker 1: That wasn't there before. Something of a do-up, you could say,
- 30:59Speaker 1: but in the right hands, I think you could raise
- 31:03Speaker 1: a really happy family with sort of a certain amount
- 31:06Speaker 1: of sickness in the children to start off with, given
- 31:08Speaker 1: the chill. Okay, we'll get ourselves underway here. Who's going
- 31:13Speaker 1: to start me at $ 200, 000? Jase, Jase, Jase, open the bidding, man.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Open the bidding. Yes, $ 200, 000. Okay, $ 200, 000. Thank you, sir.
- 31:22Speaker 1: We're underway. Do I see $ 250, 000? $ 250, 000. Ah, $ 250, 000. What's
- 31:24Speaker 1: the limit here, Casey? At a quarter of a million dollars.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Anybody else? Anybody else? Quarter of a million. No, no. Sorry, sir.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Quarter of a million is also.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Apologies.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Sorry. Do you want to have another turn?
- 31:38Speaker 4: Don't bid without asking me first, man.
- 31:40Speaker 3: So go $ 300, 000.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Okay, yes, $ 600, 000.
- 31:41Speaker 3: $ 600, 000.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Well, that's a hell of a leap. Certainly more than
- 31:43Speaker 1: I'd be paid, but $ 600, 000, you sure? Yeah, absolutely. $ 600, 000
- 31:44Speaker 1: it is.
- 31:44Speaker 3: $ 600, 000 do I hear, $ 650, 000.
- 31:46Speaker 1: $ 650, 000. $ 650, 000. $ 650, 000. $ 650, 000. This gentleman over here. Anybody else? Jase. $ 950, 000. $ 950, 000.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Don't worry about this, Keezy.
- 32:05Speaker 3: I've got this, mate.
- 32:07Speaker 1: This man knows more than I do. I tell you what.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Reminder here, gentlemen. Ladies and gentlemen, you're not simply buying
- 32:13Speaker 1: a house. You're buying a project. Okay? This is something
- 32:16Speaker 1: special that you're going to be doing for years.
- 32:19Speaker 3: $ 1, 050, 000.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Jase, you're already winning.
- 32:23Speaker 5: Hey.
- 32:23Speaker 1: $ 1, 050, 000 to the man who was already leading the bidding.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Anybody else?
- 32:27Speaker 3: Jase, I'm out.
- 32:28Speaker 1: $ 1, 100, 000. $ 1, 100, 000. Leave him.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Leave him.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I don't want it. It's too expensive.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Sorry, what was that? What was the price?
- 32:37Speaker 1: Currently sitting at $ 1, 100, 000.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Jase, Jase, walk out of there.
- 32:41Speaker 3: $ 1, 400, 000. $ 1, 400, 000. Hang up the phone. Wait, no, don't hang
- 32:46Speaker 3: up the phone.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Walk out of the auction room.
- 32:48Speaker 3: $ 2, 000, 000.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Sold.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Sold. What?
- 32:55Speaker 3: You didn't even give him a chance.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Sold. Congratulations, Keezy. Yes. Congratulations, man.
- 33:02Speaker 5: Jeez.
- 33:03Speaker 3: Yes, Keezy. We did it, mate.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Cutting there. But what a great, what a treat. That
- 33:08Speaker 1: was shit.
- 33:09Speaker 3: $ 2 million. I tell you, that's a bargain.
- 33:14Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Bush there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon.
- 33:22Speaker 1: The time is 5.38.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Fellas, as you know, I've been having ongoing issues with
- 33:27Speaker 1: my sleep as a result of having a tui parked
- 33:31Speaker 1: up outside of my window in the surrounding trees there.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Starts his day off around about 4am.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Yes.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Gets to chirping and singing. Apparently it's because he wants
- 33:42Speaker 1: to do a little bit of shagging. You heard about shagging, Keith?
- 33:45Speaker 1: A little bit of loving.
- 33:47Speaker 4: Oh, I've heard of it. Certainly heard it.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I've read about it. And also just wants to let
- 33:54Speaker 1: other male birds know that this is his patch.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Yes.
- 33:57Speaker 1: And that annoys me a little bit because that means
- 33:59Speaker 1: that if it's his patch, then I'm being dominated.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Yes.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Because I'm a male. He's done you there. He's doing
- 34:06Speaker 1: me every day. He's absolutely done you there. Waking me
- 34:08Speaker 1: up in the morning, doing me, 4 a.m. at Tui.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Are you telling me a tui is better than old mogi?
- 34:13Speaker 1: At the moment, yes. Yeah. I'm getting done. Yeah. By
- 34:16Speaker 1: a bird. Now, it occurred to me that the solution
- 34:22Speaker 1: to my problem has been hiding under my not insignificant
- 34:26Speaker 1: beak this whole time. Oh, okay. And it's old hoity jizz. Oh! Now,
- 34:31Speaker 1: hoity jizz, for those of you who don't know, haven't
- 34:33Speaker 1: been listening to the show for a while, hoity jay
- 34:36Speaker 1: invented scarecrowing.
- 34:38Speaker 5: Yes.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Back in the day, you used to wander through the
- 34:42Speaker 1: rice paddies of Japan.
- 34:43Speaker 4: No, it was Vietnam.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Oh, Vietnam. I always get it mixed up. Sorry. You
- 34:48Speaker 1: would scare off the crows, and you made a pretty penny.
- 34:50Speaker 1: I did.
- 34:51Speaker 4: And your technique was revolutionary. You'd have your arms out.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Seriously, back in those days, more dong than I could take.
- 34:59Speaker 1: And that's saying something. Oh, the currency.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Yes. What? What? Yes, the currency.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Now, of course, you made an absolute fortune over the
- 35:07Speaker 1: course of a couple of years there until people worked
- 35:10Speaker 1: out that they could just sort of get a bit
- 35:12Speaker 1: of string, tie two sticks together and chuck an old
- 35:14Speaker 1: jersey on it and fling a sort of a hat
- 35:17Speaker 1: on top of it.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Yeah, a little bit of a straw hat or something.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Sort of did the same thing. Well, they actually found
- 35:22Speaker 1: out it did a better job. Anyway, I haven't got
- 35:26Speaker 1: any of that stuff lying around the house. I was hoping,
- 35:28Speaker 1: Hoity J, that you could come around to my place.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I can hire you as a scarecrow. And you can
- 35:33Speaker 1: stand out on my front deck there with your arms
- 35:36Speaker 1: out and just scare this Tui off. How's that sound?
- 35:40Speaker 1: Sounds really good, man. There's room and board in it
- 35:43Speaker 1: for you, so you'll be living with me from now on.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Lock it in. Ah, very keen. What about your wife? Pardon?
- 35:50Speaker 1: What about your wife and your daughter? What will they do?
- 35:52Speaker 1: They'll be fine, man.
- 35:53Speaker 3: We're not talking at the moment.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Still silent treatment?
- 36:01Speaker 5: Um.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Yeah, well, something's got to be done. And, Jase, in
- 36:04Speaker 1: terms of your family, I think that's fine. They know
- 36:05Speaker 1: you're away earning the big bucks. Yeah, totally. When I
- 36:07Speaker 1: say the big bucks, I mean room and board. I'm
- 36:09Speaker 1: off bringing home the dong, darling.
- 36:11Speaker 4: I see you insist on getting paid in dong.
- 36:13Speaker 3: That's just the only currency I know.
- 36:18Speaker 4: You've lived in New Zealand for almost 40 years.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Yeah, but I've got cards for New Zealand keys.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Yeah, right. That's true. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:24Speaker 3: Okay, so you're keen to do it?
- 36:25Speaker 1: Yeah. What time are you thinking? Well, I mean- When
- 36:28Speaker 1: would you like me there? Look, I'll give you time
- 36:30Speaker 1: to not tell your wife about it because you're giving
- 36:32Speaker 1: her the silent treatment, but to write a note and
- 36:34Speaker 1: leave it on the kitchen counter before you walk out
- 36:36Speaker 1: the door. It'll start Monday. Monday, yeah. Monday. You come
- 36:40Speaker 1: around after work and then 4 a.m. I think you
- 36:43Speaker 1: should probably be out there about 2 a.m. Yep, sweet.
- 36:45Speaker 1: But I'll be buggered if I'm going to get done
- 36:47Speaker 1: by a two-week. So you're going to go round to mogies? Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 36:52Speaker 1: That's not an issue.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Make me a coffee, though, at some point. Oh, yeah?
- 36:55Speaker 1: Just not too strong.
- 36:59Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 37:03Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Joy Division there on the Hodaki Big Show this Thursday afternoon,
- 37:09Speaker 3: the time 5.48.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Fellas, just having a little bit of a chat there
- 37:12Speaker 1: about the fact that I've got this Tui that's doing
- 37:14Speaker 1: me every day. Yes. Outside my window, 4 a.m. singing.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I'm trying to get a mate and being territorial. Being
- 37:20Speaker 1: territorial over what I have to say is my territory.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Yes.
- 37:24Speaker 1: But I don't get up and shout at the Tui,
- 37:26Speaker 1: do I? And wake it up. Why is it taking
- 37:28Speaker 1: the piss out of me? Yeah. So we came up
- 37:30Speaker 1: with one solution. That is that, Jase, you're going to
- 37:32Speaker 1: move in with me room and board there. And you're
- 37:36Speaker 1: going to be a scarecrow for me. So that's step one.
- 37:39Speaker 1: What we really need to happen, I don't know if
- 37:41Speaker 1: that's a long-term solution, though, you know? Oh, I'm keen.
- 37:44Speaker 1: But what we need to do is find a solution.
- 37:47Speaker 1: We need to get this Tui mated up.
- 37:49Speaker 4: Well, we could do that and another solution at the
- 37:52Speaker 4: same time.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Well, that's what I'm saying. So while Jase is scarecrowing,
- 37:55Speaker 1: I was thinking, Kezi, and we've had a text through
- 37:57Speaker 1: here on 3483 about this, the idea being that we
- 38:01Speaker 1: get your pigeon that you bought that did a bunch
- 38:05Speaker 1: of racing down south completely unsuccessfully. and we get it
- 38:10Speaker 1: up here, and we paint it up to look like
- 38:13Speaker 1: a tui, and then chuck it in the nest with
- 38:16Speaker 1: this bastard, and that might shut him up.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Right, okay.
- 38:19Speaker 1: So a mating situation. Yeah, okay.
- 38:22Speaker 4: First of all, that's a great text on 3483. I
- 38:24Speaker 4: think we should give them a Reburger voucher.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, nice.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Is that Keezy on all beaks looking over his wing
- 38:29Speaker 1: with me, Keezy? No, it's Keezy on all wings looking
- 38:32Speaker 1: over his beak. Oh, yeah, sorry.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I always get that confused.
- 38:34Speaker 1: On all beaks.
- 38:35Speaker 4: That's right, my racing pigeon. And now the season's over.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Yes.
- 38:39Speaker 4: I paid $ 400. Surely I own the pigeon.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Well, totally you do, mate. 100% you do.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Okay, so the issue with the pigeon is if I
- 38:47Speaker 4: drive down to Oamaru to the bird club there and
- 38:49Speaker 4: pick it up, my rightful property, it'll fly home again.
- 38:53Speaker 1: No, no, no. I think this is a trick, you see.
- 38:55Speaker 1: I think you need to fly it up here. You
- 38:58Speaker 1: need to fly it up here. Fly it up? Yeah,
- 39:00Speaker 1: fly it up. It should fly by itself. I don't
- 39:01Speaker 1: see why you should have to dry it. They've got wings, Keezy.
- 39:03Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Have wings, we'll fly.
- 39:06Speaker 4: I know that it has wings and it can fly,
- 39:08Speaker 4: but it's a homing pigeon, and the way it works
- 39:10Speaker 4: is it goes back to wherever it came out of
- 39:12Speaker 4: its egg.
- 39:12Speaker 1: It goes back to its nest, wherever it was raised.
- 39:14Speaker 1: You write an address down on a bit of paper,
- 39:16Speaker 1: you tie it around its neck, and you say, go home.
- 39:18Speaker 1: You whisper to it. Oh, really? I thought it just
- 39:19Speaker 1: returned back to... No, no, no.
- 39:21Speaker 3: I think fellas... That is a really good idea.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Can I just add just a little finessing to it?
- 39:28Speaker 3: Because we want the tui to take to Keezy.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Keezy on all wings, looking over his beak with me, Keezy.
- 39:36Speaker 1: And we can paint it up and make it look
- 39:38Speaker 1: the part. That's right.
- 39:39Speaker 3: How about when the pigeon first goes into the nest
- 39:43Speaker 3: with the tui, you come across to Mogi's house and
- 39:47Speaker 3: make up a little cheese platter. Some crackers, maybe some
- 39:53Speaker 3: honey and water or something like that.
- 39:56Speaker 4: Okay.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Like, you know, just set the scene.
- 39:59Speaker 4: Okay, so I'm there. I'm making a charcuterie board.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Yes. Some margarita skewers.
- 40:05Speaker 4: Some margarita skewers, maybe some sort of tiramisu or hearty
- 40:09Speaker 4: beef lasagna.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Yes, exactly.
- 40:12Speaker 4: Jase is standing a few feet away from me with
- 40:13Speaker 4: his arms out.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Yep.
- 40:16Speaker 4: And, Mogi, you're asleep, I'm assuming, hopefully?
- 40:18Speaker 1: Well, I don't want the tui to get spooked, so
- 40:23Speaker 1: I'll be staying well awake. Yeah, yeah, you stay out
- 40:25Speaker 1: of it, Mogi.
- 40:25Speaker 4: But I think me making a cheese board will spook it,
- 40:28Speaker 4: don't you?
- 40:29Speaker 1: No. No, no, I think that's absolutely fine because I've
- 40:33Speaker 1: already warmed the bird up because I've already built the
- 40:36Speaker 1: bird bath up there. It's got the disco ball up there.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I even built a little sauna. Wow. Do you reckon... Now,
- 40:45Speaker 1: this was with a view to attracting a mate, if
- 40:47Speaker 1: you remember that. Yes, to get it done. We thought
- 40:48Speaker 1: because it's a hideous looking Tui that it might get
- 40:51Speaker 1: a mate because it's got a cool pad. That's right.
- 40:53Speaker 1: That hasn't worked at all.
- 40:54Speaker 4: When you say you built a sauna, you didn't just
- 40:56Speaker 4: put a microwave up in the tree, did you?
- 40:59Speaker 1: You mind your business, Keezy.
- 41:03Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 41:07Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive bag bones. Hope you're surviving your Thursday.
- 41:12Speaker 3: You are listening to The Big Show brought to you
- 41:15Speaker 3: by Reburger.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger.
- 41:19Speaker 1: I can't believe it. It's street food, but.
- 41:23Speaker 3: It's so unbelievably crave-worthy.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Yes, and they have beef, chicken, vegan.
- 41:31Speaker 3: And vegetarian options. Yum.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Yum.
- 41:38Speaker 3: Do you think he did that one again because.
- 41:40Speaker 1: We rocked him up a bit? He just banged that
- 41:42Speaker 1: one out. That's actually an older one. Yeah, yeah, I know,
- 41:46Speaker 1: but he put it back in the system.
- 41:47Speaker 4: No, it's been in the system for ages.
- 41:49Speaker 1: The main problem we've got here is that Keezy is
- 41:51Speaker 1: the curator for the ones that get played. Actually, yeah.
- 41:55Speaker 3: You're right, Mogi. Come on, Keezy.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Pull it together, man. What are you guys having for dinner, man?
- 42:02Speaker 3: I know, but wait. Before that, I want to ask
- 42:04Speaker 3: a question. The Perth Bears... When did that happen? Does
- 42:11Speaker 3: Perth have bears?
- 42:12Speaker 1: No, it's from Northern Sydney. So the original club got
- 42:16Speaker 1: dropped out of the ARL back in the day. The
- 42:19Speaker 1: Northern Bears, they were called there. That club's been given
- 42:23Speaker 1: a lifeline. It's going to be the new club in
- 42:25Speaker 1: the NRL, but it has to go all the way
- 42:27Speaker 1: over to Perth, which is a bit of a kick
- 42:28Speaker 1: in the guts, to be honest.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:31Speaker 1: They're a proud history. Yeah. One of the old clubs too,
- 42:35Speaker 1: isn't it?
- 42:35Speaker 4: So they're now over in Perth because they want to
- 42:37Speaker 4: expand and cover more of Australia, not just have all
- 42:39Speaker 4: the teams in one spot.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Weakening the competition in the meantime and making it a
- 42:44Speaker 1: worse product that goes on for too long.
- 42:45Speaker 5: Yes, yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Adding more stuff to the mix. We've seen it with
- 42:48Speaker 1: other competitions.
- 42:49Speaker 4: And it's happening at the same time as the PNG
- 42:51Speaker 4: Chiefs team, which they don't get taxed if you sign
- 42:54Speaker 4: for them.
- 42:54Speaker 1: You don't pay tax. Because nobody wants to go and
- 42:55Speaker 1: play in Papua New Guinea, so you pay no tax.
- 42:58Speaker 1: So they're trying to... It track plays at the same
- 43:00Speaker 1: time as you're effectively winning the lottery if you're signed
- 43:03Speaker 1: with Papua New Guinea. Right, okay.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I did hear that.
- 43:05Speaker 1: And it's been an absolute debacle. Yeah, yeah. Why do
- 43:09Speaker 1: you pay no tax? Because that's a rule that the
- 43:12Speaker 1: government of Australia has brought in for that specific team
- 43:15Speaker 1: because the whole idea behind bringing in a PNG team
- 43:18Speaker 1: is to give it a positioning within the Pacific because
- 43:22Speaker 1: otherwise China was going to get in there with all
- 43:23Speaker 1: their money and take over and then they'd have a
- 43:26Speaker 1: position in the Pacific. So it's a completely political move.
- 43:29Speaker 1: It's got nothing to do with sports. It's a disgrace.
- 43:33Speaker 4: But in other news, I've been offered a contract to
- 43:36Speaker 4: do radio over in PNG. I'm thinking about taking it.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Oh, you should. You should, man. You'd go off over there.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I was just joking. Do you guys like Ocubus? Oh, God.
- 43:46Speaker 1: I used to.
- 43:46Speaker 3: Well, too bad, all right?
- 43:49Speaker 1: Suck on this.
- 43:51Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 43:56Speaker 3: Smashing pumpkins there on the Hodaki Big Show this Thursday evening.
- 44:00Speaker 1: The time is 6.14.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Keezy's not going to be doing the show tomorrow because
- 44:03Speaker 3: he's going to be in Christchurch. And we were talking
- 44:06Speaker 3: off air and he was saying that he's got a
- 44:10Speaker 3: massive issue with his in-laws.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Jase. Yeah. I don't know if we should be talking
- 44:16Speaker 1: about this on air.
- 44:18Speaker 3: I'll be honest. Sometimes we skirt the line on this show.
- 44:23Speaker 3: This is making me uncomfortable.
- 44:24Speaker 1: This is straight up the guts.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:26Speaker 4: Well, maybe if you just hear me out, you'll realize
- 44:29Speaker 4: it's not actually an issue at all.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I don't know if we should.
- 44:32Speaker 3: Okay.
- 44:34Speaker 1: I don't want to.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Make this any worse than it is.
- 44:39Speaker 1: I worry for you.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:41Speaker 4: Right. Well, perhaps if I just tell you the situation,
- 44:44Speaker 4: maybe your worries will be put to rest.
- 44:48Speaker 3: I just want to make sure. That before you get
- 44:52Speaker 3: into this, you've spoken to your wife about it, this issue.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Well, no, it's not an issue.
- 44:58Speaker 4: I don't speak to my wife every time I talk
- 45:00Speaker 4: about my in-laws. I'm not some sort of crybaby.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Are you giving her the silent treatment?
- 45:05Speaker 3: No.
- 45:06Speaker 1: You said you're not talking to her.
- 45:07Speaker 3: What?
- 45:07Speaker 4: I said I don't talk to her every time I
- 45:09Speaker 4: bring up my in-laws.
- 45:10Speaker 1: God, you fall apart under questioning, Keezy. I do worry.
- 45:15Speaker 4: Hey, so fellas, I've got an issue with my in-laws.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Oh.
- 45:19Speaker 4: Not really an issue, to be honest. No, tomorrow night,
- 45:22Speaker 4: my wife is out with the girls having a girls' dinner.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Isn't it a woman's dinner? What do you call that?
- 45:28Speaker 1: How old is she? She's getting... She's... What? What were
- 45:32Speaker 1: you saying?
- 45:36Speaker 3: Huh?
- 45:36Speaker 1: It's a girls.
- 45:36Speaker 4: They call it girls' dinner.
- 45:38Speaker 1: And apparently none of the partners... Not dinner with the girls?
- 45:41Speaker 4: No, it's a girls' dinner is what she's calling it.
- 45:43Speaker 4: And apparently the partners aren't allowed to go.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Oh, you're good. Don't you?
- 45:46Speaker 5: Well.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Are you a girl, Keezy? Are you fuming about that?
- 45:51Speaker 4: Traditionally, the partners were allowed to go, and now all
- 45:54Speaker 4: of a sudden we're just doing girls' dinners. Why? Because
- 45:58Speaker 4: the husbands and partners meet up and get way more
- 46:00Speaker 4: steam than the girls and ruin it?
- 46:02Speaker 1: Maybe. You're saying I'll fear that you're chalking that one
- 46:04Speaker 1: up as a win.
- 46:06Speaker 3: Didn't help matters with the in-laws, I can tell you. Well,
- 46:13Speaker 3: come on, man, out with it.
- 46:19Speaker 4: Nah, it's all good, actually.
- 46:20Speaker 1: I've thought about it.
- 46:21Speaker 4: I should probably check this with my wife before I
- 46:23Speaker 4: talk about it, fellas, actually. You're right.
- 46:25Speaker 1: So... Let's just, yeah. Just going to leave it at that, eh? Yeah,
- 46:31Speaker 1: smart move. Dodged a bullet there.
- 46:34Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 46:39Speaker 3: You too there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening.
- 46:44Speaker 4: Fellas, Big Deck Energy is on again with TradeTested.co.nz.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Super easy.
- 46:49Speaker 4: You can win two and a half grand's worth of
- 46:51Speaker 4: gear for your backyard delivered straight to your front door.
- 46:53Speaker 5: Whoa.
- 46:54Speaker 4: Thanks to TradeTested.
- 46:55Speaker 1: All you do.
- 46:56Speaker 4: Go to tradetester.co.nz, put together a shopping list up to $ 2, 500,
- 47:00Speaker 4: and then screenshot it and upload it at hodaki.co.nz. A
- 47:05Speaker 4: lot of people have done exactly that. Fellas, let's go
- 47:07Speaker 4: through some shopping lists here. Now, one person has ordered
- 47:11Speaker 4: $ 40 worth of weed mat, an outdoor reclining chair, a
- 47:16Speaker 4: steam mop, an outdoor sofa lounge set, and a storage box.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Okay, how much does that come to, Keezy?
- 47:23Speaker 4: Well, they've actually been quite sensible. That only comes to $ 2, 070.
- 47:25Speaker 4: They've got $ 430 left there.
- 47:28Speaker 1: What a shocker.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you've got plenty you could get for $ 400 at
- 47:33Speaker 3: Trade Tested. Well, 100%.
- 47:34Speaker 4: And then yesterday that one guy had $ 4, 000 worth of stuff.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:38Speaker 3: He got too greedy.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Too greedy.
- 47:40Speaker 4: This person not greedy enough. This person's gone for a
- 47:44Speaker 4: Longhorn BBQ 5 burner, which is $ 1, 400, and a $ 1, 000
- 47:47Speaker 4: outdoor corner suite. Just a straight up barbecue and a
- 47:53Speaker 4: nice couch suite.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Barbecue and a couch. Yeah, nice.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Are you fired up about having a few barbies, fellas?
- 47:58Speaker 3: We're getting into that time of the year. I don't
- 47:59Speaker 3: own one. Oh, don't you?
- 48:00Speaker 1: I don't own one.
- 48:01Speaker 3: Actually, neither do I.
- 48:02Speaker 1: There you go. And you've got no balcony or anything.
- 48:05Speaker 1: No barbecues for you, man.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 48:07Speaker 1: You're out. So all of our barbecues are going to
- 48:09Speaker 1: be around at Keezy's. Yeah, that's true.
- 48:10Speaker 3: It's a new joint.
- 48:11Speaker 4: I've never owned a barbecue.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Have you not?
- 48:13Speaker 4: And that's what I'm most excited about is this new
- 48:16Speaker 4: place I hopefully buy will have an outdoor area. The
- 48:18Speaker 4: first thing I'm doing is getting a barbecue.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Is that the first thing you're doing?
- 48:22Speaker 4: You should put your furniture in there and unpack all
- 48:25Speaker 4: your boxes in there.
- 48:27Speaker 1: And maybe pay your deposit and stuff. Yeah, talk to
- 48:30Speaker 1: the lawyers. Sign the contract and all that. But the
- 48:33Speaker 1: first thing you're going to do is buy a barbecue. Well,
- 48:37Speaker 1: obviously not the first thing. I've never heard of that.
- 48:38Speaker 3: No, that's interesting.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Just a... What?
- 48:41Speaker 3: Just on that front, by the way, Mogi and I,
- 48:44Speaker 3: this is a bloody amazing prize.
- 48:46Speaker 1: It is.
- 48:47Speaker 3: We're going to give one of these away tomorrow on
- 48:49Speaker 3: the show.
- 48:49Speaker 1: Oh, that's right.
- 48:50Speaker 3: So make sure you bloody do it, because how good
- 48:52Speaker 3: would it be to get two and a half grand
- 48:54Speaker 3: worth of stuff for summer?
- 48:55Speaker 4: Well, this person here has gone to tradetester.co.nz and got
- 48:58Speaker 4: a Hyundai wood chipper, 15 horsepower, 308 with an electric start, exactly.
- 49:04Speaker 1: $ 2, 499.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Wow.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Now we're talking.
- 49:05Speaker 3: So- I don't know what any of those are.
- 49:11Speaker 4: A wood chipper.
- 49:12Speaker 1: It's just one thing.
- 49:13Speaker 3: What, you put wood and it turns it into chips?
- 49:15Speaker 1: Yum, you love chips.
- 49:16Speaker 4: Not potato chips, that's great for you man wood chips
- 49:19Speaker 4: right yeah obviously got a massive garden they need to
- 49:21Speaker 4: chip up wouldn't you just rent one well 100 i
- 49:27Speaker 4: don't know what they're planning yeah.
- 49:29Speaker 3: Maybe they're thinking of starting their own little business on
- 49:31Speaker 3: the side with the wood chipper well that's what wood chipping.
- 49:36Speaker 4: Tradetested.co.nz. Put a shopping list together up to $ 2, 500 and
- 49:40Speaker 4: then upload it at hodaki.co.nz. And don't forget, make your
- 49:43Speaker 4: debt great with Trade Tested, fellas.
- 49:46Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 49:49Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 49:52Speaker 3: Green Day Big Show. Just trying something a bit different there, fellas.
- 49:56Speaker 1: I didn't like it. On to the next one.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Hey, listen. Massive night for me last night. And it's
- 50:05Speaker 3: actually not just this particular restaurant. It's happening all over
- 50:09Speaker 3: the city, I'm noticing.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 50:12Speaker 3: I went to Hot Pot, as I said I was
- 50:13Speaker 3: going to do last night.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Now, that's a hot pot restaurant.
- 50:17Speaker 3: Yes.
- 50:17Speaker 4: And it's a Chinese type of meal where you get
- 50:19Speaker 4: a whole lot of ingredients and put a hot soup
- 50:20Speaker 4: in it.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Yes.
- 50:21Speaker 4: And you're addicted to it.
- 50:22Speaker 3: I am. Anyway, I filled up and the woman saw
- 50:26Speaker 3: me who runs the joint. She went, oh, and gave
- 50:29Speaker 3: me a big sort of hello and smile. And I
- 50:31Speaker 3: was like, oh, that's nice. And then I went up
- 50:35Speaker 3: to the counter to order what broth I wanted with it.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Broth boy. Broth boy, they call me. Do they?
- 50:43Speaker 3: Broth creeper. Signature house medium. And I went, yes, that's right.
- 50:48Speaker 3: She smiled and she said, you like it spicy. And
- 50:50Speaker 3: I went, I do, I do.
- 50:52Speaker 1: And I went, God.
- 50:53Speaker 3: And everyone in this sort of restaurant just stopped and
- 50:56Speaker 3: were like, woo, and clapping.
- 50:58Speaker 1: They clapped you ordering a hot pot. And I was
- 51:00Speaker 1: like high-fiving people.
- 51:02Speaker 3: Yeah. Genuinely.
- 51:05Speaker 1: It made me feel like a part of something. A community.
- 51:08Speaker 1: A community, if you will. Of addicts.
- 51:10Speaker 3: And I've actually noticed this around another cafe that I
- 51:14Speaker 3: go to. They're now greeting me like a regular.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Is that because you're a regular?
- 51:18Speaker 3: Yeah, because I'm regular.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:19Speaker 3: I'm there all the time, and I just wanted a
- 51:21Speaker 3: few fellas. I can imagine, Keezy, that there must be
- 51:25Speaker 3: bars around the place where you walk and they go, eee!
- 51:32Speaker 4: Nah, I live out west and it's run by the
- 51:35Speaker 4: Waitakere Trust.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it sucks out there for bars.
- 51:37Speaker 4: And there's like two bars.
- 51:39Speaker 1: It sucks.
- 51:40Speaker 4: But I was a member of the local RSA for
- 51:42Speaker 4: a long time, about six years. And we'd walk in
- 51:46Speaker 4: there and I remember there's some young fellas running the
- 51:49Speaker 4: bar there and they'd sometimes recognise us and, you know, g'day,
- 51:52Speaker 4: how you going? And the locals started recognising us as well.
- 51:54Speaker 4: And this one guy came up and he's just like, oh, man,
- 51:57Speaker 4: seen you around here a couple of times, eh? How
- 51:58Speaker 4: often do you come here? And I'm like, oh, I
- 52:00Speaker 4: come here quite a bit, you know, maybe like once
- 52:02Speaker 4: or twice a month. He's like, oh, yeah, me. And
- 52:05Speaker 4: then I was like, what about you? He's like, oh,
- 52:07Speaker 4: six nights a week. Yeah. So I thought I was
- 52:10Speaker 4: a regular.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:11Speaker 4: But he was a regular.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a proper.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:14Speaker 1: That story doesn't feel true to me.
- 52:17Speaker 5: What?
- 52:17Speaker 4: Sorry, but people high-fiving you about hot pot. Did that
- 52:22Speaker 4: actually happen?
- 52:23Speaker 1: Yes, Keezy. Moki, have you ever been a regular? It
- 52:26Speaker 1: was more of a lo-fi. It was a mix. Yeah,
- 52:29Speaker 1: over the way here, actually, is the most recent one.
- 52:31Speaker 3: Really?
- 52:31Speaker 1: We've got the sushi shop over the road here. Oh, yes.
- 52:35Speaker 1: It's got a half price from $ 3. 30. I wander in.
- 52:38Speaker 4: Clear it out.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Push to the front of the line. She sees me
- 52:42Speaker 1: and says, ah.
- 52:43Speaker 3: Yes.
- 52:44Speaker 1: I've never had a woman so happy to see me.
- 52:47Speaker 3: Yes.
- 52:47Speaker 1: I'll be completely honest with you. Every single day, she
- 52:49Speaker 1: lights up when she sees me. Totally. Because she knows
- 52:52Speaker 1: she's getting rid of all of her karage. And what
- 52:55Speaker 1: are those little? Shumai. Shumai. Shumai. They're gone. Yes. And
- 53:02Speaker 1: she loves seeing me, but she's also laughing at me. Yeah.
- 53:04Speaker 1: As in, you know, you could go somewhere else. But
- 53:09Speaker 1: why would I? But it was so delicious.
- 53:11Speaker 4: The thing that's funny about Mogi at that sushi shop
- 53:13Speaker 4: is there'll be people milling about waiting at $ 3.
- 53:15Speaker 5: 28.
- 53:15Speaker 4: That's right. Mogi will walk straight to the counter at $ 3. 28,
- 53:20Speaker 4: ask if it's half price, and.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Then say, cool, I want... He doesn't even ask. He
- 53:23Speaker 1: just goes. I never ask. I act like it's $ 3.
- 53:26Speaker 3: 30.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Yeah, right. And because I'm a regular and she's so
- 53:29Speaker 1: happy to see me, I get treated like a regular.
- 53:32Speaker 1: That's the perks of being a regular, Keezy. True, yeah.
- 53:34Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 53:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 53:35Speaker 1: If you want to mill around... Well, I don't know
- 53:37Speaker 1: what you're doing there. Go to a mill. I don't
- 53:39Speaker 1: know what to do.
- 53:46Speaker 2: The Horaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Horaki.
- 53:54Speaker 1: Well, there you go, you mad bastards.
- 53:56Speaker 3: That's the big show done and dusted this Thursday evening.
- 54:00Speaker 1: And what a show it's been, fellas.
- 54:03Speaker 3: In the disclaimer podcast today, what clip have you got
- 54:05Speaker 3: there for us, Keezy?
- 54:07Speaker 4: Today we kind of went into in-depth, into being on
- 54:10Speaker 4: the dole.
- 54:11Speaker 3: Oh, yes, we did. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Dole chat. Dole chat. Here's a clip of it.
- 54:15Speaker 4: Comes out at 7.30 tonight.
- 54:17Speaker 1: What you get to do is just have a little
- 54:19Speaker 1: bit of a think. Yes. A bit of a chat.
- 54:23Speaker 1: talk about the state of the world with your mates,
- 54:24Speaker 1: play chess, get stoned, drink piss, yes, and eat toast.
- 54:29Speaker 1: And eat toast, yes. It's sort of, For some reason,
- 54:32Speaker 1: wallow around in your own filth. It's not a very clean.
- 54:38Speaker 1: That sounds great, fellas.
- 54:39Speaker 3: It's a good time.
- 54:40Speaker 1: It was a good time.
- 54:41Speaker 3: Yep. It was a good time. Moki, your plans for
- 54:43Speaker 3: the evening? You going to stay up again tonight?
- 54:46Speaker 1: Probably, because I'm going to watch another movie. I've got
- 54:48Speaker 1: another movie with the missus tonight there, fellas and dear.
- 54:52Speaker 1: But I was meant to be going to a sort
- 54:55Speaker 1: of a birthday party for this joint, and I thought
- 54:58Speaker 1: I'd got a ticket. So it was all planned around that,
- 55:00Speaker 1: but then I came into the office today. I don't
- 55:02Speaker 1: have a ticket. Oh, okay. So I get to go
- 55:04Speaker 1: home instead. That was close. I nearly went out and socialised. You! Woo!
- 55:08Speaker 4: Buddy!
- 55:08Speaker 1: So, yeah, straight home after this, fellas, and just quite
- 55:12Speaker 1: home there with the missus. The brother-in-law's moved out, you see.
- 55:15Speaker 3: Right, okay, yes. He's gone. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, nice, nice. Keezy?
- 55:19Speaker 1: To the airport, fellas.
- 55:20Speaker 3: Oh, yes, of course, yeah.
- 55:21Speaker 4: Flying to Christchurch tonight. Got a baby shower tomorrow. Family
- 55:24Speaker 4: baby shower.
- 55:25Speaker 1: We'll probably talk about that on the show tomorrow, Jase.
- 55:27Speaker 3: Yeah, his baby shower.
- 55:28Speaker 1: At least. At length.
- 55:29Speaker 4: Well, no, it's a cousin of ours. Mm-hmm.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Not ours. It's a cousin of my wife. We're not related.
- 55:35Speaker 3: Well, it's really interesting because usually men don't get invited
- 55:38Speaker 3: to baby showers.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Oh, I'm not going.
- 55:39Speaker 4: I'm playing golf.
- 55:40Speaker 1: You see? So the whole thing falls apart, doesn't it?
- 55:43Speaker 1: So she's going to the baby shower. The slightest bit
- 55:45Speaker 1: of sort of examination there.
- 55:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:47Speaker 1: And the whole reason for getting the day off. I
- 55:50Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know if the brass are going
- 55:52Speaker 1: to be... Wait till I tell Bogsy, Michael Boggs, chairman
- 55:55Speaker 1: of NZME. Chairman of CEO.
- 55:59Speaker 3: I might take the day off tomorrow to make a baby. Yeah, sure.
- 56:03Speaker 1: All right? I'd like to see that.
- 56:05Speaker 5: Do it.
- 56:06Speaker 4: I'd love to see that.
- 56:08Speaker 1: Would you?
- 56:08Speaker 4: No, I actually wouldn't. I definitely would not. What are
- 56:14Speaker 4: you doing tonight, Jase?
- 56:16Speaker 3: Tonight, well, very, very, very similar to Mogi, actually. I
- 56:22Speaker 3: think we were planning to go out. That might actually
- 56:25Speaker 3: be tomorrow night, but that's been cancelled.
- 56:28Speaker 1: I'll just interrupt you there, man. Have you been watching
- 56:30Speaker 1: Slow Horses? Oh, no.
- 56:33Speaker 3: What's that on again?
- 56:34Speaker 1: Apple TV. Oh, fuck. Can you sort out your subscription, please? Hey,
- 56:40Speaker 1: take care out there. Look at the podcast.
- 56:41Speaker 3: Listen to the podcast.
- 56:42Speaker 1: Look at the Instagram.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Till tomorrow.
- 56:44Speaker 1: Goodbye.
