- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from Israel, and this is a special edition of
- 0:04Speaker 1: Sharry Good Evening.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I'm here in the heart of Israel. One year ago,
- 0:13Speaker 2: terrorists try to destroy this nation in one of the
- 0:16Speaker 2: darkest days in Jewish history. Today we remember the invasion
- 0:22Speaker 2: that would change both Israel and life as we know it.
- 0:26Speaker 2: But we also recognize that Israel is alive. It's fighting,
- 0:30Speaker 2: it's determined to survive, and it won't rest until it
- 0:34Speaker 2: brings it's one hundred and one hostages home. This is
- 0:37Speaker 2: a significant show tonight. You don't want to miss a minute.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Farmer Israeli Prime Minister of Tarlie Bennett is on the show.
- 0:45Speaker 2: He has a strong warning for terrorist sympathizers. I speak
- 0:49Speaker 2: to freed hostage Aviva Siegel. She describes in graphic detail
- 0:54Speaker 2: what it was like in those underground her must tunnels
- 0:58Speaker 2: and how the young women women were being raped. Aviva
- 1:02Speaker 2: is a living, breathing witness to the horrors inflicted by
- 1:06Speaker 2: her musk and a stark reminder why the world can't
- 1:09Speaker 2: abandon the women, children, and even a baby still held hostage.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Will also remember Galit Carbone. She's the only Australian murdered
- 1:19Speaker 2: on October seven and I speak to her brother. He
- 1:23Speaker 2: details her harrowing final moments, her desperate struggle to survive
- 1:28Speaker 2: as she tried in vain to fight off terrorists at
- 1:32Speaker 2: Kibutz BAIRI. Plus the latest on the despicable Palestinian protests
- 1:38Speaker 2: in Australia. They've even been praised by Hesvela. How can
- 1:44Speaker 2: some Australians be so heartless? But first, one year on
- 1:49Speaker 2: from the October seven attacks, none of our lives will
- 1:53Speaker 2: ever be the same again. We can't go back to
- 1:56Speaker 2: who we were on October sixth last year. That innocence
- 2:01Speaker 2: lost forever. The sun had barely risen at Kibbutzbery when
- 2:07Speaker 2: crazed terrorists went from door to door, intent on murdering
- 2:11Speaker 2: every Jew they could hunt down, even babies. For six hours,
- 2:17Speaker 2: Avida Bacha held the safe room door shut. He was
- 2:21Speaker 2: protecting his wife and their two children. The terrorists, knowing
- 2:26Speaker 2: someone was standing there on the other side of the door,
- 2:29Speaker 2: peppered the room with bullets. I stood in that safe
- 2:33Speaker 2: room just a couple of days ago, and looking around
- 2:37Speaker 2: at the hundreds of bullet holes in the walls and ceiling,
- 2:40Speaker 2: it was hard to imagine how anyone could have made
- 2:44Speaker 2: it out alive. Mum Dana was shot and so was
- 2:49Speaker 2: her surfing loving son Carmel, just fifteen years old. Dad
- 2:54Speaker 2: Avida was shot too, but he survived while his wife
- 3:00Speaker 2: son bled to death in that very.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Room she was supposed to be in Sri Lanka for surfing,
- 3:08Speaker 1: was a surfer and he one of the last things
- 3:10Speaker 1: he said to his dead that bury me with my surfboard,
- 3:15Speaker 1: which he did. We did last week.
- 3:17Speaker 3: We buried them.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Beck here, just fifteen years old. No child deserves this
- 3:25Speaker 2: and no girl should watch her mum and brother be
- 3:29Speaker 2: murdered over at Kibbutz Kafaraza. As the air raids sirens
- 3:35Speaker 2: went off, new parents had and Ittai Berdiceski went to
- 3:41Speaker 2: their bomb shelter with their ten month old twins. The
- 3:45Speaker 2: loving parents were only thirty years old. Hayda's last text
- 3:48Speaker 2: message was at six fifty four am, and she joked
- 3:52Speaker 2: about being stuck in the bomb shelter with dirty nampies,
- 3:56Speaker 2: a joke any mum would have made. Her dead body
- 3:59Speaker 2: was later found in the kitchen. Her husband's body in
- 4:04Speaker 2: the bomb shelter near their babies, who were alive and crying.
- 4:09Speaker 2: It appears he'd managed to put the twins on a
- 4:11Speaker 2: bed not exposed to the front door in the corner
- 4:15Speaker 2: of the room, and those babies ten months old. They
- 4:19Speaker 2: were there for twelve hours without food or water until
- 4:22Speaker 2: Israeli soldiers found them.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Sister's neighbor that he went back home and they lived
- 4:28Speaker 4: right next to each other, and he saw their door.
- 4:31Speaker 4: That the front door is open. He'sa an empty AK
- 4:35Speaker 4: forty seven magazine on the stairs, and that he hears
- 4:40Speaker 4: that they're twins. They had two baby twins ten months old.
- 4:46Speaker 4: He heard them crying. He tried to get into the house,
- 4:50Speaker 4: but every time he did, the terrorists shot at him,
- 4:55Speaker 4: so we couldn't get inside. Us told us that it's confirmed,
- 4:59Speaker 4: and a dark entire Dad and I remember we had
- 5:03Speaker 4: this a minute or two that we kind of yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 4: I cried broke for a minute or two, but then
- 5:11Speaker 4: we looked at each other and was like, Okay, now
- 5:13Speaker 4: we don't have one baby to take care of, we
- 5:15Speaker 4: have three.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Those tiny babies are lucky to be alive, but they'll
- 5:22Speaker 2: never know their parents than our orphans being raised by
- 5:26Speaker 2: their uncle and I. At the same kibots, three little
- 5:30Speaker 2: children aged three, six and nine watched as their mom
- 5:34Speaker 2: and dad were murdered by Hamas six year old and Malia,
- 5:39Speaker 2: nine year old. Michael hid in a cupboard, but little Abigail,
- 5:44Speaker 2: only three years old, was missing.
- 5:48Speaker 5: Telephone Micheva Little.
- 5:53Speaker 3: That's gonna be.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Telephone my dad, Michel Benedeta, telephone, the Imma metafolil bit
- 6:13Speaker 5: the k.
- 6:17Speaker 2: That was seven a m. By the afternoon, they were
- 6:20Speaker 2: still hiding in the closet, a six year old and
- 6:22Speaker 2: a nine year old. Twelve hours later and this was
- 6:27Speaker 2: the emotional moment when they were finally rescued Maria, but
- 6:42Speaker 2: three year old Abigail was taken hostage. She turned four
- 6:46Speaker 2: in Gaza without a single member of her family around her,
- 6:51Speaker 2: just terror. When she was released as part of the
- 6:54Speaker 2: ceasefire deal, she came home an orphan and the three
- 6:59Speaker 2: children are now with relatives. The trauma very real. Over
- 7:05Speaker 2: at the Nova Music Festival site, four hundred young Israelis
- 7:08Speaker 2: were hunted and murdered, gone down or burnt in fire,
- 7:13Speaker 2: girls were raped. Those who survived tell just unbelievable stories
- 7:19Speaker 2: of running, hiding in the bushes, in abandoned cars, and
- 7:22Speaker 2: playing dead, all trying to stay one step ahead of death,
- 7:29Speaker 2: not knowing which way to turn.
- 7:32Speaker 3: We'd hope that we.
- 7:35Speaker 6: Escape from the terrorists that come from one direction from
- 7:40Speaker 6: this point, and when we reach to the road, we
- 7:45Speaker 6: get shot from the bury directions.
- 7:48Speaker 2: So they surrounding in us.
- 7:52Speaker 6: And we.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Leaned on the road hiding.
- 7:59Speaker 7: Run from wherever you try to go, you have terrorists.
- 8:04Speaker 7: They're coming from that direction with Rpgan. From the underdirection
- 8:07Speaker 7: you have cipers and then you see them on motorcycles
- 8:11Speaker 7: and it's you just don't have a good option. They
- 8:14Speaker 7: don't have her to go.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Entire families were slaughtered one year ago today, Tamar, her
- 8:23Speaker 2: husband Jonatan. They're five and a half year old, twin
- 8:26Speaker 2: daughters Shah and Abel, and their son Omer, aged just two.
- 8:32Speaker 2: They were all murdered at their home in Kibbutz near Oz.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Terrorists also shot dead parents Dina and Evgeny, and their
- 8:40Speaker 2: daughters Eleene aged eight and Ethan, aged five, as they
- 8:44Speaker 2: returned to their home from a camping trip after hearing
- 8:48Speaker 2: sirens and came across Rmus on the road. There were
- 8:52Speaker 2: more than one two hundred Israelis massacred on October seven
- 8:56Speaker 2: in what is a true genocide committed by Hamas and
- 9:01Speaker 2: Palestine in Islamic g hat. According to Israeli data, thirty
- 9:06Speaker 2: eight children were murdered on October seven, thirty eight children.
- 9:11Speaker 2: This vision is distressing, just a warning, but you can
- 9:14Speaker 2: see the blood soaked cots where some were killed, and
- 9:18Speaker 2: twenty children had both parents killed. Ninety six children had
- 9:23Speaker 2: one parent killed, and there are fifteen children who still
- 9:26Speaker 2: have both one parents held hostage in Gaza. And then
- 9:31Speaker 2: there's the child hostages who still haven't been released by Hermas.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Baby Kafir Bivas. He was kidnapped at nine months old
- 9:41Speaker 2: along with his brother Ariel, who was four. Kafa turned
- 9:45Speaker 2: one in captivity and his brother turned five. No birthday celebrations, presents, cake,
- 9:52Speaker 2: or even sunlight. We don't know if they're still alive.
- 9:56Speaker 2: We don't know if baby Kafir ever made it to
- 9:59Speaker 2: his firm birthday. They're among the one hundred and one children,
- 10:04Speaker 2: elderly women and men who are still hostage in Gaza.
- 10:10Speaker 2: It's believed many of them are being used as human
- 10:12Speaker 2: shields to protect the cowardly harmas leader Yaya Sinha. Some
- 10:18Speaker 2: hostages thankfully have made at home through unbelievably courageous rescue
- 10:24Speaker 2: missions or early ceasefire ideals. Those who have made at
- 10:29Speaker 2: home face deep trauma. Some are a shelf of their
- 10:33Speaker 2: former selves.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Now.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I'm going to share some of these stories with you
- 10:37Speaker 2: either tonight or over the next few days. But this
- 10:40Speaker 2: celebration of death by Hermas speaks to something darkly wrong
- 10:45Speaker 2: with the education and political system in Gaza, where the
- 10:49Speaker 2: government pays a salary to the families whose sons or
- 10:53Speaker 2: daughters are martyrs or terrorists, where school children are indoctrinated
- 10:59Speaker 2: to want death to Jews. Yet instead of trying to
- 11:03Speaker 2: change the Palestinian leadership and actually support Israel in removing
- 11:08Speaker 2: the terror threat, the international community makes daily demands of
- 11:13Speaker 2: the Jewish nation. The October seven terror attacks, in truth,
- 11:17Speaker 2: have only benefitted the Palestinian cause, which has since received
- 11:23Speaker 2: billions of dollars in funding and has improved its international
- 11:26Speaker 2: standing at bodies like the United Nations. The horrors inflicted
- 11:31Speaker 2: by Himas have not only rocked to Israel, but they've
- 11:35Speaker 2: exposed the failings in Western civilization. We simply can't imagine
- 11:40Speaker 2: anyone trying to claim the Holocaust should be contextualized, yet
- 11:46Speaker 2: that somehow Jews brought it upon themselves. Yet that's the
- 11:50Speaker 2: kind of unforgivable victim blaming that we've seen on a
- 11:53Speaker 2: daily basis over the past year, as the world urged
- 11:57Speaker 2: Israel to pack up, go home, forget the hostages, and
- 12:02Speaker 2: let the terrorists live. The October seven attacks rocked Israel
- 12:08Speaker 2: to its core, and Israelis continue to grapple with the
- 12:12Speaker 2: enormity of this devastating loss. But there's also a renewed
- 12:19Speaker 2: determination to survive. There's strength and resolve in the face
- 12:24Speaker 2: of weak Western leadership that knows nothing about the threat
- 12:28Speaker 2: of terror on their doorstep, yet they seek to impose
- 12:31Speaker 2: their virtue signaling ideas upon a people who've always had
- 12:35Speaker 2: to fight for survival. The lessons of past persecutions will
- 12:41Speaker 2: not be easily forgotten the anniversary today, it's important. We
- 12:47Speaker 2: can't look away. This is history in the making, history
- 12:53Speaker 2: of the very worst kind, and we have to bear
- 12:57Speaker 2: witness of all the one two hundred innocent victims of
- 13:05Speaker 2: October seven. It was the kibbutzim near the border of
- 13:09Speaker 2: Gaza which bore the brunt of the massacre. As I've
- 13:12Speaker 2: been saying, entire families murdered. The only Australian victim that
- 13:17Speaker 2: day Garlic Carbone, and she fought a desperate but ultimately
- 13:22Speaker 2: hopeless battle to survive. I spoke to her brother Danny
- 13:25Speaker 2: Masner at Kiboultz bery where so many lost their lives,
- 13:30Speaker 2: and a warning this interview it's a must watch. It's powerful,
- 13:34Speaker 2: it's also confronting.
- 13:41Speaker 8: The rockets came down really heavily.
- 13:44Speaker 1: That a friend of mine saw from his house all
- 13:47Speaker 1: the Hamas guys on their bikes and their pickup trucks,
- 13:52Speaker 1: and that was about six thirty from the road that's
- 13:55Speaker 1: surrounding the Kibbutz. They came from the strip. They murdered
- 13:58Speaker 1: the guy that's really in charge of the security on
- 14:00Speaker 1: the Kibuti came. It didn't know anything what happened, and
- 14:03Speaker 1: they just shot him and that was it.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Many families called this Cubo time. Eleven hundred people lived
- 14:12Speaker 2: here before October seven, including your sister Gallette.
- 14:16Speaker 8: How many were.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Killed a year ago, it's one hundred and two people
- 14:21Speaker 1: from our community. That's nearly ten percent. As you can
- 14:25Speaker 1: see on the banner here on the side, we still
- 14:28Speaker 1: have hopefully three hostages, kidnapped people that are still alive,
- 14:33Speaker 1: and seven bodies that need to be returned for permanent
- 14:37Speaker 1: beryl that we know that they're dead. So it's something
- 14:42Speaker 1: really unthinkable.
- 14:45Speaker 2: So they climbed the gates. How did they physically get They.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Broke in this window and they pressed the electricty gate
- 14:51Speaker 1: and they opened it and they just stormed inside. They
- 14:55Speaker 1: just came in numbers, more and more and more.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Which should we go inside and show us what happened? Yes, indeed, so, Danny,
- 15:06Speaker 2: your sister Garlett was here in her home on the
- 15:10Speaker 2: morning of October seven when her mask came inside her house.
- 15:14Speaker 2: What happened?
- 15:17Speaker 1: From what I know, She rang me at twelve or
- 15:20Speaker 1: nine twelve pm and telling me that she hears them
- 15:26Speaker 1: inside the house and she's not sure if she locked
- 15:28Speaker 1: the door, didn't lock the door, as if it really matters,
- 15:32Speaker 1: And I told her, okay, let's whisper, let's not them
- 15:35Speaker 1: here that let them know that someone's there.
- 15:38Speaker 8: She was in her safe she was in a safety room.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Of course, she was holding the handle, and you know
- 15:46Speaker 1: it's it's other who's going to bend first.
- 15:49Speaker 8: You know, she didn't stand a chance, not one chance.
- 15:52Speaker 8: My father was overseas.
- 15:54Speaker 1: He's a ninety one year old. It was at ninety
- 15:55Speaker 1: at the time, you old Holocaust survivor from France, and
- 15:59Speaker 1: I had to tell him that daughter was murdered on
- 16:01Speaker 1: the keyboards by Yeah, it was certainly and definitely the
- 16:06Speaker 1: hardest thing I had to do in my life.
- 16:08Speaker 2: You both grew up in Australia.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Yeah, we grew up till she was eleven.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I was seven when we left Sydney to come to
- 16:15Speaker 1: these keyboats.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Kibutzberi.
- 16:17Speaker 2: The rest of her life was really based in this keyboat.
- 16:19Speaker 2: She had children here.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Yeah, she had kids here and her life was here. Really,
- 16:25Speaker 1: she had a very comfortable life. She has three kids,
- 16:29Speaker 1: six grandkids, and she loved them all.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Did the terrorists they come to your house or they.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Just moved underneath? They burned a few houses next to me.
- 16:43Speaker 1: They murdered a few people next to me. I live
- 16:46Speaker 1: on the second floor. So hopefully that's what saved me.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'd say, when the.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Army evacuated you and you would have walked through the keyboards,
- 16:54Speaker 2: it just must have looked like a.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Apocalytia.
- 16:58Speaker 3: It was a graveyard.
- 16:59Speaker 1: It was everything was burnt and it was just and
- 17:04Speaker 1: I was sort of like, as a sort of speaks,
- 17:06Speaker 1: tall guy. The soldiers told the kids behind me, looks forward,
- 17:10Speaker 1: straight ahead of him, don't look sidewards.
- 17:12Speaker 2: All the families who lived here were defenseless that.
- 17:15Speaker 8: I want to protect them absolutely.
- 17:17Speaker 2: The Foreign Minister, Pennywong refused to come here. She refused
- 17:21Speaker 2: to see firsthand what had happened. She did visit Israel,
- 17:25Speaker 2: but she refused to come to the keyboard. Sim what's
- 17:28Speaker 2: your reaction to that?
- 17:32Speaker 1: Well, that's really a mind blower, Shari, because one would think, Okay,
- 17:38Speaker 1: you made a trip half around the world, you circle
- 17:42Speaker 1: the globe, you got to Israel, and when you asked
- 17:46Speaker 1: why didn't you come down to Beerrier, why didn't you
- 17:48Speaker 1: contact any one of your civilians that live overseas. The
- 17:52Speaker 1: only thing you could say, oh, I had to meet
- 17:54Speaker 1: mister Danny danone Yad Vashem.
- 17:56Speaker 8: I didn't have time.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I mean, seriously, you're the foreign minister of a big
- 18:02Speaker 1: country called Australia. You come over to Israel. You've got
- 18:06Speaker 1: one citizen that was murdered. I think it's the only
- 18:08Speaker 1: Australian citizen on the attack. Please make a little effort.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I'm not saying much, contact us, contact her kids, come
- 18:18Speaker 1: and see what happened firsthand.
- 18:20Speaker 6: You know.
- 18:24Speaker 2: So this is typical of what happened to so many
- 18:27Speaker 2: homes on October seventh.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Yeah, unfortunately, Yes, this is a house of Vivia and
- 18:33Speaker 1: Silver Jewish Canadian that moved from Canada to Israel many
- 18:38Speaker 1: years ago. She retired and she dedicated her life to
- 18:43Speaker 1: help the poor Palestinians living in Gaza regarding their health
- 18:49Speaker 1: condition and unfortunately she founded. She found her death in
- 18:55Speaker 1: her house. She was burnt and it took while to
- 18:59Speaker 1: identify via DNA.
- 19:01Speaker 2: She was in her safe room. But they burnt down the.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Hand, burnt everything, and it took a while to really
- 19:06Speaker 1: understand that it's her, and that just shows that they
- 19:11Speaker 1: killed and murdered everyone.
- 19:15Speaker 2: So this is a safe room. There was a family here,
- 19:19Speaker 2: two children. I mean, there's hundreds of bullet holes around
- 19:23Speaker 2: the room.
- 19:24Speaker 1: This is a typical safety room like we all have.
- 19:27Speaker 1: It's a nine square meter and everyone was supposed to
- 19:32Speaker 1: go in the safety rooms and close or lock the
- 19:34Speaker 1: door behind. So did this family, My friend Avida and
- 19:39Speaker 1: his wife Dona and two kids, Calmel and Hadaal, And
- 19:44Speaker 1: they went in here and about an hour after the
- 19:48Speaker 1: terbists got to this place and they had to hold
- 19:51Speaker 1: between them. Between Carmel and Avida, they held the handle.
- 19:54Speaker 3: There's no locks, so that was holding it shot.
- 19:56Speaker 1: They were holding it one way while they're trying the
- 19:58Speaker 1: other way, and then he told them go away in Arabic,
- 20:03Speaker 1: there's only kids here, and obviously they didn't and they
- 20:08Speaker 1: realized that if the handle is here someone sitting in
- 20:10Speaker 1: front of they start shooting. Calmel was shot in the shoulder,
- 20:14Speaker 1: a video was shot both legs and Dana was sitting here,
- 20:20Speaker 1: the wife, the mother, and she got hurt through a ribcage,
- 20:26Speaker 1: a very small and tiny hole which he didn't even
- 20:29Speaker 1: see any blood, but she started to gasp for air
- 20:34Speaker 1: and afterwards that was it. She bled internally.
- 20:40Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Absolutely, and one of the sons, Calmel, which he was
- 20:45Speaker 1: supposed to be in Sri Lanka for surfing, was a
- 20:48Speaker 1: surfer and one of the last things he said to
- 20:51Speaker 1: his dad that bury me with my surfboard, which he did.
- 20:55Speaker 1: We did last week.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Such a heartbreaking story and walking through that kidbootz, of course,
- 21:08Speaker 2: was really quite emotional. Well, let's turn to politics now,
- 21:12Speaker 2: and there's a lot of debate in Israel and around
- 21:14Speaker 2: the world about how exactly to eliminate the terror threat.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Farmer Israeli Prime Minister and f Tarlie Bennett, who's a
- 21:22Speaker 2: political rival of Netanyahu joined me a little while ago.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Here's that interview. Former Prime Minister Aftali Bennett, thank you
- 21:31Speaker 2: so much for joining us today. I want to start
- 21:34Speaker 2: with your reflections a year on from the October seven
- 21:38Speaker 2: terror attacks.
- 21:40Speaker 9: You know, October seventh was a day that caused great
- 21:45Speaker 9: trauma for the people of Israel. They were at an
- 21:50Speaker 9: institutional level, the government, the military, the institutions failed. But
- 21:57Speaker 9: on the same day it was also a day of
- 22:00Speaker 9: great heroism of the nation of Israel, the people, especially
- 22:04Speaker 9: the younger generation, where thousands of young men and women
- 22:09Speaker 9: got in their cars and drove down to the Gaza
- 22:13Speaker 9: envelope in order to save lives of their brothers and sisters,
- 22:18Speaker 9: who many of them have never met before, and many
- 22:22Speaker 9: of them fell in the action while fighting terrorists. This
- 22:27Speaker 9: is unheard of, this degree of heroism. So I would say,
- 22:31Speaker 9: we've learned that we have an amazing nation, but we've
- 22:35Speaker 9: also learned that our institutions failed us badly and we
- 22:40Speaker 9: need to fix them.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Will you say your institutions failed you badly? And Naftali Bennett,
- 22:48Speaker 2: I've spent the past few days speaking to people who
- 22:51Speaker 2: survived the Nova Music Festival and also people at the
- 22:54Speaker 2: kibbut Sim who lost loved ones, and they told me
- 22:57Speaker 2: that many were left to fend for them for twelve
- 23:01Speaker 2: hours or more. Why did the military fail to arrive?
- 23:06Speaker 2: Why did it take so long?
- 23:09Speaker 9: This is one of the biggest failures, perhaps the biggest
- 23:13Speaker 9: failure in the history of the State of Israel. You see,
- 23:17Speaker 9: the State of Israel was established precisely so Jews would
- 23:21Speaker 9: never again be under massacres for hours and hours of
- 23:26Speaker 9: pogrom like we were in Europe or in North Africa, helpless.
- 23:32Speaker 9: And that's, unfortunately exactly what happened. This is a magnitude
- 23:37Speaker 9: of an epic failure of the State of Israel.
- 23:41Speaker 8: And as I said, the.
- 23:42Speaker 9: People who saved the day are the nation and the
- 23:45Speaker 9: younger generation. There were about sixty communities under attack. There
- 23:52Speaker 9: were four massacres that took place in Kibutsk, far As Biri,
- 23:57Speaker 9: Neurals and the Nova Music Fest of all. But in
- 24:01Speaker 9: the other sixty communities, the few civilians that were there
- 24:08Speaker 9: repelled dozens and dozens of terrorists at the highest degree
- 24:14Speaker 9: of heroism. We're going to have to learn the lessons.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Well, how do we learn those lessons? Do you think
- 24:22Speaker 2: that now that it has been a year. It's time
- 24:25Speaker 2: to start talking about an inquiry.
- 24:28Speaker 9: Absolutely, we need to form a national inquiry. I think
- 24:35Speaker 9: it's a long time should have been done already. Now
- 24:40Speaker 9: that we're a year in we need to do it.
- 24:43Speaker 1: We need to be.
- 24:45Speaker 9: As honest with ourselves and open with ourselves so something
- 24:50Speaker 9: like this can never again occur. I think it would
- 24:53Speaker 9: be wrong to postpone this any longer.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Mister Bennett and Australia. This weekend and even today on
- 25:02Speaker 2: October seven, we've seen the most disgraceful pro Palestinian rallies
- 25:07Speaker 2: Hesbala flags being waived, or flags with n Israela's face
- 25:12Speaker 2: on them. We've seen similar scenes at university campuses around
- 25:16Speaker 2: the world where students are even saying that Israel shouldn't
- 25:20Speaker 2: have the right to exist.
- 25:21Speaker 9: What's your response to all of this, Well, I don't
- 25:26Speaker 9: give them what some snotty student whose parents are spending
- 25:31Speaker 9: one hundred thousand dollars a year to send them to
- 25:34Speaker 9: gender studies at Harvard what he thinks about whether I
- 25:39Speaker 9: have a right or don't have a right to live
- 25:40Speaker 9: in my homeland. We live here, this is Israel has
- 25:45Speaker 9: been the Jewish ancestral land for almost four thousand years.
- 25:50Speaker 9: I've fought for this land. I've lost very good friends
- 25:53Speaker 9: fighting on this land. My son is in a combat unit.
- 25:57Speaker 9: And the fact that there are extremely confused students in
- 26:03Speaker 9: Harvard or Ivy League schools around the world that think
- 26:07Speaker 9: they have the right to even a doubt whether we
- 26:12Speaker 9: have the right to live here, that's ridiculous. The problem
- 26:15Speaker 9: is there is not ours. Israel is a nation of lions.
- 26:20Speaker 9: The Israelis are, in my opinion, the bravest, have the
- 26:26Speaker 9: bravest younger generation in the world. We're going to win
- 26:30Speaker 9: our and defeat our enemies. And you know these students
- 26:35Speaker 9: should spend their time on better endeavors.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Very well said, completely agree. Turning to around now, we're
- 26:45Speaker 2: seeing the international community demand of Israel as ceasefire. There
- 26:50Speaker 2: are concerns by the US President Joe Biden that this
- 26:54Speaker 2: could lead to a wider regional escalation if Israel does
- 26:58Speaker 2: retaliate again. Anst Iran, what's your response to the international
- 27:03Speaker 2: community demanding a ceasefire and do you think Israel should
- 27:07Speaker 2: hit target the nuclear capabilities that Iran is currently developing.
- 27:14Speaker 9: Israel must attack Iran's nuclear program. Iran's leadership and the
- 27:23Speaker 9: regime's economic system. The Islamic Republic of Iran a terrible
- 27:28Speaker 9: regime which is hijacked its own people who despise it.
- 27:33Speaker 9: This regime has been lobbying rockets at Israel and causing
- 27:41Speaker 9: terror through its arms. It's like an octopus of terror,
- 27:44Speaker 9: so through its tentacles for the better part of thirty years.
- 27:48Speaker 9: Over the past year, it directly shot five hundred projectiles
- 27:54Speaker 9: over to Israel. We have all the legitimacy to act,
- 27:58Speaker 9: but now as an opportune time, a very narrow window
- 28:02Speaker 9: of opportunity, where Iran's two main tentacles, Haramas and Chrisbala,
- 28:09Speaker 9: which could have defended Iran or retaliated. Right now, these
- 28:14Speaker 9: two arms are neutralized. They're almost entirely paralyzed. So Iran
- 28:20Speaker 9: is laid open, and now is the exact time that
- 28:23Speaker 9: we must attack. We must take out the nuclear program
- 28:27Speaker 9: or at least severely damage it. They already have accumulated
- 28:32Speaker 9: enough enriched uranium for ten nuclear bombs. If not now, when,
- 28:39Speaker 9: If we don't do it now, I don't see anyone
- 28:42Speaker 9: will ever take care of it, and we'll wake up
- 28:44Speaker 9: to nuclear nightmare.
- 28:46Speaker 8: In the Middle East.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Noughteralie Bennett. You've clearly got very strong and precise views
- 28:54Speaker 2: on what needs to be done now in Israel's interests.
- 28:58Speaker 2: It has been reported that you're considering forming a new
- 29:01Speaker 2: political party, and that perhaps you have ambitions to be
- 29:04Speaker 2: Prime minister again. What can you tell me about this?
- 29:09Speaker 9: My only ambition is for the Jewish state, for the
- 29:12Speaker 9: only Jewish state in the world, Israel, to be strong,
- 29:16Speaker 9: to prosper, and I'll do anything necessary to help that.
- 29:22Speaker 9: I think everyone understands that Israel has a remarkable nation.
- 29:28Speaker 9: It lacks in the quality of its leadership. It's going
- 29:32Speaker 9: to need to change. That's clear to everyone. If and
- 29:36Speaker 9: when I'll join, I'll certainly let you know.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Do you think you could be the man for the job?
- 29:44Speaker 9: As I said, if and when I'll have any decision
- 29:48Speaker 9: on this, I'll let you know.
- 29:50Speaker 3: As I also said, I'll be and.
- 29:52Speaker 9: Do anything necessary to help my country at a terrible,
- 29:58Speaker 9: terrible moment.
- 30:01Speaker 2: It is indeed, Naftali Bannett, I really appreciate your time
- 30:05Speaker 2: on this momentous day.
- 30:07Speaker 9: Thank you, Thank you.
- 30:11Speaker 2: All right. Plenty more to come. The harrowing story of
- 30:14Speaker 2: a former hostage. She tells me what it's like to
- 30:17Speaker 2: be held captive deep in the her Musk tunnels in Gaza.
- 30:21Speaker 2: It's a powerful interview. Plus those disgraceful protests, even Hezblah
- 30:26Speaker 2: has applauded the pro Palestinian rallies. That tells you everything
- 30:30Speaker 2: that's wrong with them. I'm going to talk about all
- 30:32Speaker 2: of this after this quick break. Welcome back.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Well.
- 30:38Speaker 2: I spoke with a remarkable, inspiring woman, Aviva Siegel. She
- 30:43Speaker 2: was a former hostage in Gaza. She's lived to bear
- 30:47Speaker 2: witness to horrific crimes. Here is that interview and a warning.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Her story is confronting, but it's a story that you
- 30:56Speaker 2: must hear. Aviva. A year you were kidnapped from your
- 31:02Speaker 2: home at the kiboartzkthar Aza by terrorists. What happened?
- 31:09Speaker 3: Can you believe that somebody in the pajamas in bed
- 31:13Speaker 3: would be taken to Gaza? Because they's told for me
- 31:16Speaker 3: to understand and believe Keith and I'm sixty three and
- 31:22Speaker 3: Keith is sixty five years old American citizens, and we
- 31:26Speaker 3: were just taken from a house in such a brutal way.
- 31:29Speaker 3: On the way, they pushed Keith and broke his ribs
- 31:32Speaker 3: and shot us. I remember seeing the bullets coming very
- 31:36Speaker 3: close to my foot. I'm lucky, but they shot Keith
- 31:40Speaker 3: on his hand. So we arrived in Gaza while Keith
- 31:43Speaker 3: bleeding and he was in such pain. And I just
- 31:53Speaker 3: didn't even know what my name was when I was
- 31:55Speaker 3: there because I was just so scared of everything. Everything
- 32:00Speaker 3: was done in such a brutal way, and we older people,
- 32:05Speaker 3: so they were in our little shelter while they tried
- 32:08Speaker 3: to kill us with their bombs, and there was bombs
- 32:11Speaker 3: that were coming and coming and coming, and I was
- 32:13Speaker 3: shaking and Kith was trying to relax me and calm
- 32:16Speaker 3: me down and saying, you're say for Viver, you're in
- 32:18Speaker 3: the shelter, but we wereked. They just opened the door.
- 32:23Speaker 3: They shot her house, and I remember them walking inside
- 32:26Speaker 3: my house, opening the door and just pulling us out.
- 32:31Speaker 2: When you arrived in Gaza's hostages, there were celebrations on
- 32:35Speaker 2: the streets.
- 32:37Speaker 3: There was you know, mothers with babies, older people with sticks,
- 32:42Speaker 3: the whole family, every age that you can think about it.
- 32:45Speaker 3: They were so happy. It was like a party for them,
- 32:47Speaker 3: while Kit and I were shaking and just wanted to
- 32:51Speaker 3: scream and cry and did not understand what are we
- 32:54Speaker 3: doing there in Gaza now you.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Were moved around a lot in Gaza, thirteen different lives occasions.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Can you tell me about how you were treated while
- 33:04Speaker 2: you were held hostage?
- 33:06Speaker 3: We were treated all the time in such a brutal way.
- 33:09Speaker 3: They starved us and ate in front of us. They
- 33:13Speaker 3: didn't give us water while they drank. One of the times,
- 33:17Speaker 3: Kit begged them, begged them for so many times, and
- 33:20Speaker 3: then I said to Keith, can you beg just once more?
- 33:23Speaker 3: Just once more? And he took the bottle and hold
- 33:26Speaker 3: the bottle and hold it until he brought us water.
- 33:30Speaker 3: And then when it did bring us the water, it
- 33:32Speaker 3: brought the bottle and threw at us. The conditions were
- 33:36Speaker 3: the worst conditions that you can think about. I just
- 33:39Speaker 3: thought that I'm going to die, that kid's gonna die.
- 33:42Speaker 3: What will happen if Keith will be in the bathroom
- 33:44Speaker 3: and I'll die, Or what will happen if the ceiling
- 33:48Speaker 3: falls on us and if they shoot us, or if
- 33:51Speaker 3: they're going to starve us again. And I want to
- 33:54Speaker 3: tell you that the hostages, they have been there for
- 33:58Speaker 3: a year. I was there for fifty one days, and
- 34:01Speaker 3: I know exactly what they're going through.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Your husband, Keith is still there now, still suffering.
- 34:07Speaker 3: He's lying on a forty dirty mattress, just like a
- 34:10Speaker 3: rug with no human rights. We weren't allowed to move,
- 34:14Speaker 3: I wasn't even allowed to cry. And just think about it,
- 34:18Speaker 3: when in such a brutal way tortured my husband that
- 34:20Speaker 3: I've been married to for forty five years, I wanted
- 34:23Speaker 3: to scream and cry, and I wasn't allowed to cry
- 34:27Speaker 3: or scream. I just had to keep myself quiet. When
- 34:30Speaker 3: I looked at the girl that came back, and she
- 34:34Speaker 3: was shaking, she was taken to the next room. She
- 34:37Speaker 3: was taken to the next room. I got up and
- 34:39Speaker 3: gave her a hug because I felt like a mother.
- 34:42Speaker 3: And while I did that, I got screamed at. And
- 34:46Speaker 3: after a couple of hours she told us you touched me,
- 34:50Speaker 3: and you know, just a couple of days ago. I
- 34:53Speaker 3: just remembered how brave she was after that happened, because
- 34:57Speaker 3: if somebody would do that to me, I would scream him,
- 35:00Speaker 3: I would try and kill him. But she continued to
- 35:04Speaker 3: smile to him to show him that everything's okay, because
- 35:07Speaker 3: he threatened her that if he's if she'll ever tell anybody,
- 35:12Speaker 3: then he's going to kill her.
- 35:14Speaker 2: You know this is a very difficult thing to talk about,
- 35:16Speaker 2: but you were at various times with young girls and
- 35:21Speaker 2: the issue of sexual violence, whether they were pregnant was
- 35:26Speaker 2: a live question. What can you tell me about that?
- 35:30Speaker 3: I know for sure that Keith told the girls not
- 35:32Speaker 3: to tell me everything because I'm very sensitive, and the
- 35:36Speaker 3: girls did not stop talking about the periods, and I'm
- 35:40Speaker 3: just so scared to think about them falling pregnant. And
- 35:44Speaker 3: I do know that they are now underneath the ground
- 35:49Speaker 3: and just waiting to be the next one to be
- 35:51Speaker 3: raped or to be touched, or to be starved, or
- 35:55Speaker 3: to be hit hidden or beaten up to pieces. Because
- 35:59Speaker 3: that exactly what happened while I was there for the
- 36:02Speaker 3: fifty one days for it.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Some time you were moved from civilian house to civilian house,
- 36:07Speaker 2: but you and Keith were also held underground in the tunnels.
- 36:12Speaker 2: What was it like under there in these dark tunnels,
- 36:16Speaker 2: so far away from reality and sunlight.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Yes, And then you come to a house and there's
- 36:22Speaker 3: somebody at the bottom of the ground smiling and happy
- 36:27Speaker 3: while you're shaking, and you have to go down. You
- 36:29Speaker 3: just have to go down. I shaked with the ladder
- 36:32Speaker 3: going down, and they took Keith and I underneath the ground,
- 36:37Speaker 3: fourteen meters underneath the ground, and going down we could
- 36:41Speaker 3: feel that there was no oxygen. We arrived a little
- 36:45Speaker 3: arch that's open, small, the three of us, Keith and
- 36:49Speaker 3: I and somebody else, and we just tried to figure
- 36:54Speaker 3: out if we're going to live or not. We had
- 36:57Speaker 3: to lie down on the mattress on the floor. And
- 37:00Speaker 3: one of the times Kids said that he feels that
- 37:02Speaker 3: he cannot breathe, and he was like this, and you know,
- 37:08Speaker 3: it's hard to explain in words what the meaning means
- 37:11Speaker 3: by trying to figure out if there's gonna be optionen
- 37:14Speaker 3: for you or if you're gonna live. But it's the
- 37:17Speaker 3: worst feeling in earth for me to look at Keith
- 37:19Speaker 3: that he can hardly breathe and think, maybe kittle die
- 37:22Speaker 3: in front of my eyes.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Well, how do you live every day? How do you
- 37:26Speaker 2: cope with the knowledge that your your beloved, precious husband, Keith,
- 37:31Speaker 2: and some of the girls that you met and hugged
- 37:34Speaker 2: and were like a mother to are still there underground
- 37:38Speaker 2: in Gaza.
- 37:38Speaker 3: The worst thing, you know, the worst thing, the worst
- 37:41Speaker 3: thing for me. There wasn't they when they tortured Keith
- 37:45Speaker 3: and the girls, and I wanted to scream, but I
- 37:47Speaker 3: couldn't take to keep quiet. We weren't allowed to feel.
- 37:51Speaker 3: I had to hide myself crying. I had to put
- 37:53Speaker 3: my hand on my on my eyes, just like lit
- 37:56Speaker 3: some good down on the mattress on the floor, because
- 38:00Speaker 3: we weren't allowed to feel while I wanted to scream.
- 38:03Speaker 3: One of the times, they took one of the girls
- 38:05Speaker 3: and they put a blanket over her and handcuffed her
- 38:09Speaker 3: and they bittered it up into pieces. And when she
- 38:11Speaker 3: came back, she was shaking and crying. And I couldn't
- 38:15Speaker 3: even hunger cause I wasn't allowed to and I felt
- 38:18Speaker 3: like a mother. So sorry, have you either?
- 38:22Speaker 8: I'm so sorry.
- 38:28Speaker 2: So on this one year anniversary, Now, what do you
- 38:32Speaker 2: wanna see happen? You've met US President Joe Den twice.
- 38:35Speaker 2: You've met Anthony B. Lincoln several times, you've met to
- 38:38Speaker 2: the Prime Minister here and is for our Benjroinette and Yahoo,
- 38:41Speaker 2: w what do you want to happen? How do you
- 38:43Speaker 2: think the hostages would be released?
- 38:45Speaker 3: I want everybody to listen to my words. They aren't
- 38:49Speaker 3: just words. It's what I went through and what the
- 38:52Speaker 3: hostages are going through. They cannot allow themselves to open
- 38:56Speaker 3: the door in the stomach and then close it when
- 38:58Speaker 3: we're not stop talking. They need to open their hearts
- 39:01Speaker 3: and understand that these are people that are feeling, and
- 39:05Speaker 3: these people that are dying slowly, and we cannot allow
- 39:09Speaker 3: ourselves keeping quiet while there's people there that don't get
- 39:13Speaker 3: their metsine that are dying slowly.
- 39:15Speaker 2: The international community seems to be ignoring the hostages.
- 39:19Speaker 3: It's terrible. It's the worst cruelest thing that anybody can
- 39:23Speaker 3: go through, being underneath the ground for a year with
- 39:27Speaker 3: no oxygen and feeling that you're going to die because
- 39:30Speaker 3: they just are going to kill you by not taking
- 39:34Speaker 3: care of you of any of your needs. I just
- 39:37Speaker 3: want to say that Keith and are peacemakers, and we
- 39:40Speaker 3: want good for the whole world and for all the
- 39:42Speaker 3: good people, and I want that everybody that thinks that
- 39:46Speaker 3: we're doing to harm us is really really bad. Rather
- 39:50Speaker 3: stand up and shout for the people that live there
- 39:53Speaker 3: because they need to go back to their lives. Then
- 39:55Speaker 3: mothers are having babies intents and that should not be.
- 39:59Speaker 3: It shouldn't like that, and the older people, and the
- 40:02Speaker 3: worst thing is to leave Gostjesday underneath the ground to disload.
- 40:07Speaker 2: No one can be left behind, not one person. Isn't
- 40:18Speaker 2: she an amazing woman? A Viva Siegel Well still to come?
- 40:22Speaker 2: Hesbella praises the pro Palestinian rallies in Australia and that
- 40:26Speaker 2: tells you everything you need to know about how morally
- 40:29Speaker 2: repulsive they are. I'm going to talk about that with
- 40:32Speaker 2: my panel and then later in the show. An October
- 40:34Speaker 2: seven hero who saved hundreds of lives from her musk.
- 40:38Speaker 2: He'll be with me here live in Jerusalem, so don't
- 40:41Speaker 2: go away. There's a heavy police presence in both Sydney
- 40:48Speaker 2: and Melbourne tonight as pro Palestinian events unfold. One protest
- 40:53Speaker 2: organized by the extremist Islamic group his Bookteria in southwestern Sydney,
- 40:59Speaker 2: where are gathered outside La Kember Mosque. Well, let's bring
- 41:03Speaker 2: in now Bom, a chief of staff to Bill Shott
- 41:05Speaker 2: and Cameron Milner and Sky News' host Steve Price. Cameron,
- 41:10Speaker 2: how disgraceful are these protests? Why can't they pick any
- 41:14Speaker 2: other day, not the day of the massacre of Jews?
- 41:20Speaker 10: Well, isn't it an absolute disgrace? Because today it was
- 41:22Speaker 10: only ever, only ever about the twelve hundred victims and
- 41:25Speaker 10: one hundred and one hostages are still kept by Hamas.
- 41:27Speaker 10: It was a day to reflect on the awful circumstance
- 41:31Speaker 10: of the greatest loss of life since the Holocaust, Chari.
- 41:33Speaker 10: That's what today should have been about. But instead these
- 41:35Speaker 10: horrible protests is made about themselves and the politicians let
- 41:39Speaker 10: them slide. The police and the politicians let them have
- 41:41Speaker 10: them their day, their day. No, this should have only
- 41:43Speaker 10: been about Israel, and only about Israel's absolute right self
- 41:46Speaker 10: defense and Jewish Australians feeling safe in their own community.
- 41:49Speaker 10: That's what today should have been about. And the fact
- 41:51Speaker 10: that HESBLA could actually congratulate those people on the streets
- 41:54Speaker 10: today just shows how awful and how divided our society
- 41:58Speaker 10: has become.
- 42:01Speaker 2: One hundred percent, Steve, what do you think? I think
- 42:04Speaker 2: law enforcement wasn't strong enough here. They could have shut
- 42:07Speaker 2: these protests down. They did during the COVID pandemic. But
- 42:10Speaker 2: they don't care.
- 42:13Speaker 11: No, they haven't, And I'm going to update you on
- 42:15Speaker 11: what's actually just unfolded. Shake Shakawi at Lakember has called
- 42:19Speaker 11: October seven a day of resistance. His but to here,
- 42:23Speaker 11: as you said have turned out. But in Melbourne it
- 42:26Speaker 11: even gets worse, Cameron and Shari, where you've had six
- 42:30Speaker 11: baby carriages or prams draped in head scarfs pushed through
- 42:35Speaker 11: the streets of Melbourne, and fake stretches with fake dead
- 42:39Speaker 11: people on them being carried through the streets as well
- 42:42Speaker 11: under Palestinian banners. So the whole thing, as Cameron has said,
- 42:47Speaker 11: and you've said, Schari over and over, this day is
- 42:49Speaker 11: not about that. October seven was about a terrorist attack
- 42:53Speaker 11: on Israel and here we have in Australia. And I
- 42:56Speaker 11: didn't think i'd ever lived to see this, the worst
- 42:59Speaker 11: cases of anti Semitism that I've ever seen in my life.
- 43:02Speaker 2: It's just horrenders, it really is. And it's in part
- 43:08Speaker 2: because we've had a total failure of political leadership. Cameron,
- 43:12Speaker 2: how do you think the Prime Minister, compared to Peter
- 43:15Speaker 2: Dutton has handled this antisemitism crisis over the past year.
- 43:22Speaker 10: Well, Peter Dutton got a standing ovation tonight in Sydney
- 43:24Speaker 10: for what he'd said, and he's stopped for Israel today
- 43:26Speaker 10: and what he said and what we got from from
- 43:28Speaker 10: the premise was just more weathel words, more, weathel words more,
- 43:32Speaker 10: influenced from Wong talking about restraint Bert not doing anything.
- 43:35Speaker 10: Labour's got a real problem here, Shari, a real problem
- 43:38Speaker 10: and it's endemic, systemic under Albanize. This weakness and it's
- 43:42Speaker 10: let the extremists, the Islamic extremists flourished Australia. That's why
- 43:46Speaker 10: we have these horrible protests like Epster tonight, Steve. That's
- 43:49Speaker 10: why they think they can get away with it because
- 43:51Speaker 10: Albo is so weak. But Labor needs to be better.
- 43:54Speaker 10: And Chris Min's and Jacindra Allan's sew up today which
- 43:57Speaker 10: was great. So it's not Labor, it's an albow problem.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Sorry, yeah, one hundred percent, Steve, twenty seconds. What do
- 44:04Speaker 2: you think?
- 44:07Speaker 11: Cameron's absolutely right? Just send her Alan though she's been
- 44:10Speaker 11: as bad as what Albernizi has been as well. If
- 44:13Speaker 11: you don't have strong leadership about these issues, you're going
- 44:16Speaker 11: to see what you're seeing on the streets tonight. Every
- 44:19Speaker 11: Australian who's witnessing this should look at it, shake their
- 44:22Speaker 11: head and complain about it loudly to whoever wants to listen.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Steve Price, Cameron Milner, thank you both for your leadership
- 44:33Speaker 2: and strength on this now coming up after the break
- 44:36Speaker 2: among the horror on October seven, there were heroes, and
- 44:40Speaker 2: I'm going to be joined by one of them live
- 44:42Speaker 2: in Jerusalem. Next. He put his life on the line
- 44:46Speaker 2: to save hundreds of Israelis. That interview after this quick break,
- 44:54Speaker 2: welcome back. Well, I'm joined now by Israeli major Officer
- 44:57Speaker 2: Nimrod Palmach Nimbrod to thank you so much, thanks for
- 45:00Speaker 2: joining us here in Jerusalem now on October seven, you
- 45:04Speaker 2: were given orders to come here. You defied them because
- 45:07Speaker 2: you heard what was going on down south. Tell me
- 45:10Speaker 2: what happened.
- 45:11Speaker 12: Ever since I was a kid, I used to listen
- 45:13Speaker 12: to my heart, and also on October seven, I listened
- 45:15Speaker 12: to my heart. I had the sense that something terrible
- 45:18Speaker 12: is happening down south, and I traveled all by myself.
- 45:21Speaker 12: I carried only my pistol with me, and I discovered
- 45:25Speaker 12: what happened there as I went. I had a chance
- 45:27Speaker 12: to stop for a couple of minutes where I left
- 45:29Speaker 12: a video, a goodbye video for my kids, realizing I'm
- 45:32Speaker 12: about to die. From that moment and on I was free,
- 45:35Speaker 12: and I just went ahead and got into a fight
- 45:38Speaker 12: with terrorists in order to save people.
- 45:40Speaker 2: How many people, did you say a year ago today?
- 45:43Speaker 8: So a few guys that I met their Israeli's.
- 45:45Speaker 12: We fought against approximately forty Hamas tourists and we saved
- 45:48Speaker 12: the community called kibutsal Umm.
- 45:50Speaker 8: Around five hundred people lived there.
- 45:53Speaker 12: No one Israeli died in this community because we got
- 45:56Speaker 12: there in time and we were able to fight haramasof.
- 45:59Speaker 2: Wow, that is a Now you were actually shot in
- 46:03Speaker 2: your chest. Yeah, during the battle with the mass terrorists.
- 46:07Speaker 8: Nothing prepared me to this day.
- 46:09Speaker 12: I took a weapon from a dead soldier, I took
- 46:11Speaker 12: a body armor from a wounded soldier, and in the
- 46:15Speaker 12: fight from seven meters I got shot in the chess
- 46:17Speaker 12: from a terrorist. Luckily I could continue on. We killed
- 46:21Speaker 12: the dollist and we managed to not only finish this
- 46:24Speaker 12: fight of Kibutz Alumin, but also to be one of
- 46:26Speaker 12: the liberators of Kibutzberri.
- 46:29Speaker 2: It's incredible, you know, I think you being one of
- 46:32Speaker 2: the people who just turned around and went in to
- 46:35Speaker 2: protect communities, mean you saved well five hundred lives that day.
- 46:39Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Now you're now sharing the story the horrors of what
- 46:44Speaker 2: happened with this virtual reality program. It's called survived to
- 46:48Speaker 2: tell be the witness. Kid, can you tell me how
- 46:50Speaker 2: it works.
- 46:51Speaker 8: I'm a CEO of Israelis.
- 46:52Speaker 12: It's an NGO that tried to improve Israel image in
- 46:55Speaker 12: the world throughout the fighting on October seven, I held
- 46:58Speaker 12: with one end a machine gun and with the other
- 47:00Speaker 12: my iPhone and I recorded. I documented what I saw
- 47:03Speaker 12: because I knew that the world would renounce and.
- 47:06Speaker 8: The world will try to say it was lies.
- 47:08Speaker 12: It never happened, and unfortunately I saw everything in Kibbutzberry.
- 47:12Speaker 12: I decided I want to bring this to us campuses,
- 47:15Speaker 12: to have students watching it and as if they're really
- 47:19Speaker 12: there in the Nova festival, in the Kibutzim. And now
- 47:22Speaker 12: we can dialogue. Now we can create a conversation. We
- 47:26Speaker 12: already met proximately ten thousand students around the world. Wow,
- 47:29Speaker 12: and we are aiming to get to five hundred campuses
- 47:32Speaker 12: next year in America alone.
- 47:33Speaker 2: This is so important. So those students that we've seen
- 47:36Speaker 2: at the campus is the stupid students. They can put
- 47:39Speaker 2: this on. They can watch a virtual reality of what
- 47:41Speaker 2: the terrorists were during that day. Because there's a lot
- 47:44Speaker 2: of harmss body camp footage as well.
- 47:46Speaker 12: So both the recording of Hamas's body camps and also
- 47:49Speaker 12: testimonies from survivors.
- 47:51Speaker 8: But the uniqueness is you're actually there.
- 47:53Speaker 12: On three sixty you can meet Mazad Tazazzo and she
- 47:57Speaker 12: can tell you this is the right bush where I hid.
- 48:00Speaker 12: My best friends were killed in front of me, and
- 48:02Speaker 12: you will be with her actually at the bush. And
- 48:05Speaker 12: because there's so much ignorism and hate against Israel in
- 48:08Speaker 12: those campuses, and there are people that nurture this eight,
- 48:11Speaker 12: we need to fight back and this is the best
- 48:14Speaker 12: way we found. It's both storytelling and technology, and we
- 48:17Speaker 12: believe in the power of it.
- 48:19Speaker 2: You must have been so relieved to be able to
- 48:21Speaker 2: go back home to your children that night a year ago.
- 48:24Speaker 12: Sure, I mean for me, my children, my wife, my
- 48:27Speaker 12: family is everything, and it's like I was reborn. I
- 48:31Speaker 12: got my life back and it's a gift that I
- 48:34Speaker 12: will never take for granted.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Nimrod Palmach, thank you so much for joining me. Really
- 48:38Speaker 2: appreciate it.
- 48:39Speaker 8: Thank you very much.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Now, thanks everyone for joining me tonight live from Israel
- 48:45Speaker 2: from Jerusalem. Don't miss tomorrow at eight pm. I've got
- 48:48Speaker 2: another big show, more incredible stories. Please join me, and
- 48:54Speaker 2: right now I'm going to hand you over to my
- 48:56Speaker 2: very good friend back in Australia, Paul Murray,
