- 0:09Speaker 1: Well, I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:15Speaker 1: perfectly clear. But you're a guest to my home. You
- 0:22Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty. And I said, no, guess
- 0:28Speaker 1: you're o presences presents enough. I already had too much stuff.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So how do you dare to surbey me?
- 0:48Speaker 3: Welcome to I said, no gifts, I'm pretcher Wineger. We
- 0:53Speaker 3: are in the backyard and the temperature is perfect over
- 0:58Speaker 3: the weekend. This is something I just want to address immediately.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I had to stop in Redlands, California, on my way
- 1:06Speaker 3: to another destination, and I needed to pee. I went
- 1:11Speaker 3: in a seven eleven, was denied access to the bathroom,
- 1:14Speaker 3: but was told to go next door, went next door
- 1:17Speaker 3: and was denied access again. And so well, if you're
- 1:23Speaker 3: at least if you're a seven eleven or a nail
- 1:26Speaker 3: salon in Redlands, California, and you think I'm not going
- 1:28Speaker 3: to go behind the building and pee, you have the
- 1:32Speaker 3: wrong bridge or winicker. I'm making a prediction right now
- 1:35Speaker 3: that there's a feeling in the air. Twenty twenty five
- 1:39Speaker 3: is going to be huge for public urination, because it's
- 1:44Speaker 3: insane to me that every business can't just have a
- 1:47Speaker 3: bathroom that should be a law. That's what I'm fighting for.
- 1:51Speaker 3: If you don't let me use your bathroom, I will
- 1:54Speaker 3: consider yelping your business and then realizing it's a seven
- 1:57Speaker 3: eleven and knowing that will do nothing to you. So
- 1:59Speaker 3: just but then I'll talk about it on a podcast.
- 2:02Speaker 3: So let's just Uh, that's what happened over the weekend.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I peed behind a dumpster and it felt incredible. I
- 2:09Speaker 3: felt like I was getting away with something. It felt
- 2:10Speaker 3: like I was taking revenge everything, and I was relieving
- 2:15Speaker 3: my bladder. So what a combination of feelings. Let's get
- 2:19Speaker 3: into the podcast. I love today's guest. I adore her.
- 2:23Speaker 3: It's page Weldon page, Welcome to I said, no.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Gifts, Richer.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I just want to tell you, have you ever been
- 2:30Speaker 2: to Redlands or you've only stopped.
- 2:32Speaker 3: I've only stopped and I will always just keep going.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I as I'm not from Redlands, but I'm from
- 2:38Speaker 2: the Inland Empire, and I have to say that I
- 2:40Speaker 2: think peeing behind a dumpster is fully in the culture
- 2:44Speaker 2: of of the Inland Empire. That is so I e
- 2:47Speaker 2: of you. I think that's completely right what you did.
- 2:50Speaker 2: One hundred percent. Oh, no one would blame.
- 2:53Speaker 3: You I was just camouflaging myself with the local culture.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Then yes, absolutely, people went there's another a Redland site.
- 3:02Speaker 3: I'm good at just kind of blending into my surround. Yeah,
- 3:05Speaker 3: it's just naturally and this worked. I am telling you, though,
- 3:09Speaker 3: I've had several conversations recently, not prompted by me, of
- 3:14Speaker 3: other adults talking about needing to pee in public or
- 3:17Speaker 3: peeing in public. It's gonna be big next year.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I think that's fine. I have no personal issue with that.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I'm sure whomever may have to hose down the area
- 3:30Speaker 2: might have an issue, but.
- 3:33Speaker 4: I'm not upset with you.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I think if you can find a nice out
- 3:36Speaker 3: of the way spot, yeah, if it's behind a dumpster.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Behind a dumpster, it's sort of expected. Worst things to
- 3:43Speaker 2: be dumpster, absolutely.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Worst things that have happened behind that dumbster.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 4: I think you're good. Yeah, you're set.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I just I do find it wild that businesses can
- 3:54Speaker 3: tell you you can't use the restaurant. Yeah it feels illegal.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Yeah, it does feel illegal. Maybe it is.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Maybe it's like one of those open secrets, like how
- 4:03Speaker 2: actually they can't say that they're cash only, like they
- 4:06Speaker 2: have to accept card. Oh, but everyone just says it anyway.
- 4:10Speaker 3: It feels like in the same category of things. Yeah,
- 4:12Speaker 3: I mean I wonder if I could just start saying
- 4:15Speaker 3: that's against the law, just make up my own thing
- 4:17Speaker 3: to throw back at them.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Yeah. If that worked fifty percent of the time, great,
- 4:22Speaker 2: still better than your current hit rate.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Absolutely, you as well try it.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Yeah, And also, like coming from the employees side, I
- 4:33Speaker 3: feel like I would be like, yeah, I don't want you.
- 4:35Speaker 3: The alternative could be you doing something to the store.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I mean I'm not at that place yet, but there's
- 4:43Speaker 3: a chance I could have just turned around and been like, well,
- 4:44Speaker 3: I'm using the store.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't know.
- 4:47Speaker 2: They may have just assumed that you see him nice,
- 4:51Speaker 2: but you see him nice, so you seem like you wouldn't.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I'm trying to put out a different vibe.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Yeah, to be worse, you're just generally.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I want people to think I bad, okay, all right,
- 5:01Speaker 3: and not in a good way.
- 5:02Speaker 4: I'm going to tell people.
- 5:06Speaker 3: The rumor that I'm bad, and when people ask.
- 5:08Speaker 2: About like why, I'll just pick I don't know, just
- 5:10Speaker 2: under all sort of bad. I have no follow up.
- 5:14Speaker 2: And then I and then I like completely panic and
- 5:16Speaker 2: I started talking about actually you're so great, and I'm like,
- 5:18Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I was just joking, and it's like an
- 5:20Speaker 2: insight thing between me and Bridger. Don't He's not bad.
- 5:23Speaker 3: But that'll get more ears on the podcast because you'll
- 5:25Speaker 3: be like, well, just listen to.
- 5:26Speaker 2: The po listen to the podcast, and then you'll and
- 5:28Speaker 2: then you'll be in on the joke. And that's all
- 5:29Speaker 2: anyone wants this to be in on inside jokes of.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Course, of course. Yeah. But Redlands otherwise was perfectly fine.
- 5:37Speaker 3: I got in and got out, and we'll just have
- 5:41Speaker 3: to find another way to the desert after after today.
- 5:45Speaker 4: I don't know that there is another way.
- 5:47Speaker 3: There's no other way.
- 5:49Speaker 2: What is that the fifteen or the ten or I
- 5:51Speaker 2: think it was the ten, Yeah, the ten.
- 5:53Speaker 3: And it felt like they were like it felt like
- 5:55Speaker 3: Google Maps was like, oh, there's traffic, let's go through
- 5:57Speaker 3: this town to me, because I had never been.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Through hmmm, so interesting. Interesting. I can't say.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Where in the Inland Empire are you from. I grew
- 6:08Speaker 3: up in Temecula, California. Yeah, oh, Temecula. I almost went
- 6:12Speaker 3: to a wedding there this summer.
- 6:13Speaker 2: That's what I always hear from people when I say
- 6:15Speaker 2: Temecula because there's it's it's kind of just like a suburb,
- 6:19Speaker 2: and then up the hill is the wineries and all
- 6:22Speaker 2: the nice stuff. So a lot of people get married there.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, Jim got food poisoning, so we couldn't go.
- 6:28Speaker 3: But it was August and Temecula seems like a warm
- 6:32Speaker 3: place to be in August.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 6:35Speaker 3: So yeah, maybe it was ultimately a blessing.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't know that.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I don't know where the wedding was going to be specifically,
- 6:41Speaker 2: but I would never go.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Damn, you didn't go to Temecula. That sucks.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Do you get back to Temecula?
- 6:49Speaker 5: No?
- 6:49Speaker 2: My family doesn't live there anymore, so I'm never there.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Oh you do you have family in Reno?
- 6:54Speaker 4: I do?
- 6:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, look at me, stuff about me.
- 6:58Speaker 3: So you get to Reno?
- 7:00Speaker 2: I do?
- 7:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:01Speaker 3: What's your take on Reno? I haven't been there in
- 7:03Speaker 3: a long time, but I feel like it's got to
- 7:04Speaker 3: be a night. I feel like it's underrated.
- 7:06Speaker 2: It's absolutely that would be my stance on it, because
- 7:10Speaker 2: my parents have lived out there for a few years
- 7:12Speaker 2: now and I just feel like they love it. Every
- 7:14Speaker 2: time I go. My mom is like always looking up
- 7:17Speaker 2: new places to go. And my parents are fun, so
- 7:20Speaker 2: like whenever I go visit them, they have like fun
- 7:22Speaker 2: stuff to take me to go do. And it's just
- 7:25Speaker 2: like a lot of the area around around it is
- 7:26Speaker 2: very beautiful.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Right, it's right next. I mean it's so close to
- 7:29Speaker 3: like Lake Tahoe.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and then lots of other little lakes and pretty areas.
- 7:34Speaker 2: And so where are your parents taking you and Reno?
- 7:38Speaker 2: We've gone to the lake if it's the summer. Lots
- 7:42Speaker 2: of little restaurants and I don't know, you'd have to
- 7:45Speaker 2: ask my mom to pull up two fave spots. I
- 7:49Speaker 2: just get in the car, I get in the super
- 7:50Speaker 2: Uo and I say, take me where we're going.
- 7:53Speaker 3: That's a good thing to say in a super room. Yeah,
- 7:55Speaker 3: trust whoever's driving the Superwoo to take me to a
- 7:58Speaker 3: good destination.
- 7:59Speaker 2: It might be the Subaru commercial that I just recited.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I'm not sure you're just remembering a super commercial. You
- 8:05Speaker 2: have no family in Reno. That sounds like a Superuo commercial.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Take me where we're going.
- 8:12Speaker 3: That's a good slogan for them. They should consider it. Yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 3: right to make SUPERU and SUPERU reach out. Do you
- 8:20Speaker 3: ever go to the casinos.
- 8:22Speaker 2: We've gone to. There are restaurants inside the casinos. There's
- 8:26Speaker 2: like a diner in one of the casinos that we've
- 8:28Speaker 2: gone to on like Christmas morning.
- 8:29Speaker 4: What casino is this again? I'm not sure because.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I was just talking to somebody about the pepper Mill casino.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, that's one of them.
- 8:38Speaker 3: He had eaten a ten egg omelet, and I'm not
- 8:41Speaker 3: sure how that fits into a human body.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess you're protein for the day.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I mean for probably three weeks, right, I'm not sure,
- 8:50Speaker 3: but apparently they're famous for using ten eggs to make
- 8:53Speaker 3: an omelet, which feels like maybe too.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Many eggs, bit of a waste of eggs. Yeah, pin
- 8:58Speaker 2: omelet should be three three to four because you can't
- 9:01Speaker 2: do two. That's not enough to contain the contents of
- 9:05Speaker 2: the You need at least.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Three and three even its probably too small.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Four is safer.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I would say, if you don't want to have a
- 9:14Speaker 2: mess on your hands, you don't want to be criticized
- 9:17Speaker 2: by peppers Whomever you're making an omelet for. Maybe it's
- 9:20Speaker 2: for yourself, but even still, that's sad to have to
- 9:24Speaker 2: look at your messy omelet you've created.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I've never successfully made an omelet. It always ends up
- 9:29Speaker 3: a scramble.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I either it ends up a scramble or it's like
- 9:32Speaker 2: too like overcooked on the outside.
- 9:35Speaker 3: It's just really hard because then the I mean the opposite,
- 9:38Speaker 3: you end up with the wet omelet. Yeah, And to
- 9:41Speaker 3: successfully get the texture of an omelet, it seems nearly impossible.
- 9:45Speaker 2: We never want to be thinking too much about when
- 9:48Speaker 2: we're eating eggs.
- 9:49Speaker 4: That they're eggs, is I.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Think with the balance we want to strike, so they
- 9:53Speaker 2: need to be soft, but we don't need to have
- 9:56Speaker 2: you know, you see the sort of like clear parts
- 9:59Speaker 2: in the clear.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Part, I'm out that'll occasionally happen. And if you get
- 10:03Speaker 3: them too like over easy or whatever. And it's why
- 10:05Speaker 3: I always say over medium, I do well. I can't
- 10:10Speaker 3: think about this, no, no, but over hard. When somebody
- 10:14Speaker 3: gets an overheard, it's a psychopath. That's that's the worst
- 10:17Speaker 3: thing every world.
- 10:18Speaker 2: That person's being a baby about yolk, yeah, is my opinion.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Because they're kind of getting an almost hard boiled egg
- 10:23Speaker 3: at that point. That's so true, just a dry, disgusting
- 10:28Speaker 3: I hope no one's eating eggs right now, just a
- 10:31Speaker 3: mouthful of eggs.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I always listened to I said no gifts over breakfast,
- 10:36Speaker 2: and I'm feeling criticized.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Someone eating four over hard eggs. Their mouth's just bone dry.
- 10:44Speaker 2: You know, it's fine, whatever your egg preference, but it's
- 10:47Speaker 2: not well.
- 10:48Speaker 3: I think it's more important than a sandwich. When you're
- 10:51Speaker 3: having a breakfast sandwich, if you have an over easy egg,
- 10:53Speaker 3: forget it. Oh no, the egg is no longer even
- 10:55Speaker 3: part of the sand.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Very delicate situation.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Over medium is even a little tricky.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Yeah, you're gonna make a mess.
- 11:01Speaker 3: That's why I almost prefer a scrambled egg and a sand.
- 11:03Speaker 4: In a sandwich unless it's well.
- 11:05Speaker 2: And when we're talking about an overheard I guess if
- 11:07Speaker 2: it's like a McDonald's breakfast sandwich, now.
- 11:10Speaker 3: That is overheard egg.
- 11:13Speaker 4: It's yeah, I would say.
- 11:14Speaker 3: So, Or is that a McDonald's egg.
- 11:15Speaker 2: It's a McDonald's egg. And if we're categorizing it, I
- 11:19Speaker 2: guess I would say overheard. Okay, there's a cat over here. Sorry,
- 11:23Speaker 2: I'm just making direct.
- 11:26Speaker 3: There's this beautiful black and white cat that is just
- 11:28Speaker 3: watching the podcast right now. I wish it would come
- 11:30Speaker 3: visit I if only I had a little chicken to
- 11:33Speaker 3: entice it. It was over here earlier in accidental they
- 11:35Speaker 3: scared it away, but now it's back, truly just prying.
- 11:39Speaker 3: It comes around. There are two cats that come around,
- 11:42Speaker 3: and I love both of them so much. This is
- 11:45Speaker 3: the one I see less often. And it's so it's
- 11:49Speaker 3: like a tuxedo cat. Yeah, a tuxedo cat just sitting
- 11:52Speaker 3: on the roof over there. It's really piercing eyes screen.
- 11:55Speaker 3: At least you have any opportunity to take a photo
- 11:58Speaker 3: of this thing. We'll share this on Intra impossible unless
- 12:01Speaker 3: it runs away because it is very shy. Page is
- 12:03Speaker 3: taking This cat is now the third guest on the podcast.
- 12:07Speaker 3: It's so kill you.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Oh I got a really good Yeah, let's get see.
- 12:14Speaker 3: This is kind of the ideal version of a cat
- 12:16Speaker 3: for me.
- 12:17Speaker 4: Where come on?
- 12:20Speaker 2: We're having.
- 12:22Speaker 3: It's framed so beautifully. Page has really taken a frame
- 12:27Speaker 3: worthy photo of this Cat's gone.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm kind of a good photographer.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Whatever the cat has left, but it did provide a
- 12:35Speaker 3: little conversation and a photo.
- 12:37Speaker 2: I just felt like I had to address it. Otherwise
- 12:40Speaker 2: you'd go, why is Page not looking at me?
- 12:43Speaker 3: Furious? If there had been a cat there and you
- 12:44Speaker 3: just decided not to tell me.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I'm glad that I'm okay, cool. I feel really good
- 12:48Speaker 2: about what happened.
- 12:49Speaker 3: A secret to keep.
- 12:50Speaker 4: I would never keep a secret from you, Riture.
- 12:52Speaker 3: You tell me everything. That's why I know about Reno.
- 12:58Speaker 2: I don't tell anyone about that.
- 13:00Speaker 3: This is uh my theory is the cats come around
- 13:03Speaker 3: a lot more often when I go to Costco because
- 13:05Speaker 3: I buy the Costco rotisserie chicken and I throw the
- 13:09Speaker 3: you know, the leftover into the trash, and I think
- 13:11Speaker 3: they're like circling the area, and I feel bad because
- 13:14Speaker 3: they're not. They're never going to get it.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Yeah, and yet and you also don't want to just
- 13:18Speaker 4: leave it.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Out, No, because of the raccoons.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Because they won't be the first to come.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Yes, the raccoons will absolutely be here first. And then
- 13:26Speaker 3: who wins the raccoon the raccoons. The raccoons always win.
- 13:31Speaker 4: They do kind of always win.
- 13:32Speaker 3: They're the most powerful part of the community.
- 13:35Speaker 4: They're so complicated because they're so cute.
- 13:37Speaker 3: No, they're just a I mean, everybody has this problem
- 13:40Speaker 3: with a raccoon.
- 13:41Speaker 2: It's just they should be less cute. If they're if
- 13:44Speaker 2: we're supposed to stay away from them, yes.
- 13:47Speaker 3: I think we may have talked about this on this
- 13:48Speaker 3: podcast before, but I think if we get just swapped
- 13:51Speaker 3: their personality with a possum, the possum should be as
- 13:54Speaker 3: dangerous as vicious as a raccoon. A raccoon when it
- 13:57Speaker 3: sees you should just follow over and act like it's
- 13:59Speaker 3: dead and mm hm, you can just harmless.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Because possums are cute except for their tail.
- 14:04Speaker 3: I mean, I'm unfortunately, I'm not on board an element
- 14:07Speaker 3: of a possum.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Do you know about possums that they only live for
- 14:10Speaker 2: two years?
- 14:11Speaker 3: Oh weird? It's like a bug.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Isn't that crazy? I think?
- 14:16Speaker 2: And it's And I think it's because for the most part,
- 14:19Speaker 2: it's because they're so stupid, so they like get hit
- 14:22Speaker 2: by cars and.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Like just average.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I believe if they were like in captivity and
- 14:27Speaker 2: like taken care of, they can live much longer.
- 14:30Speaker 4: But average they live like two years.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Well, that's the thing about possums is every one of
- 14:34Speaker 3: them looks like they have been alive since Earth began.
- 14:37Speaker 3: So the fact that they're only around for two years
- 14:39Speaker 3: and they just look ancient and.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Evil, they definitely feel like time travelers.
- 14:44Speaker 3: For sure.
- 14:45Speaker 4: They shouldn't be here.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Out of some portal. Yeah, absolutely terrifying creatures.
- 14:52Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm down with that personality switch. That sounds
- 14:54Speaker 2: good to me. I do a Freaky Friday for species completely.
- 15:00Speaker 3: And people do train raccoons to live in their homes.
- 15:03Speaker 2: But that for it's not okay, Nope, you're asking to
- 15:07Speaker 2: be attacked.
- 15:08Speaker 3: You're asking for a Travis the chimp situation.
- 15:10Speaker 2: You're asking exactly like it is. So I feel like
- 15:14Speaker 2: sometimes too, you'll see like, oh, you know, it's always
- 15:17Speaker 2: somebody has like an account where they're oh, my pet raccoon,
- 15:20Speaker 2: and then they always have other pets too.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Of course, those poor pets living or.
- 15:26Speaker 2: There, or they think they're safe. I mean, obviously we
- 15:31Speaker 2: don't hear about when it goes wrong. I'm sure they
- 15:33Speaker 2: just like delete their account and like never never tell us.
- 15:36Speaker 3: That the raccoon takes over the account.
- 15:38Speaker 2: The raccoon takes well everything, fine, they could type I think,
- 15:42Speaker 2: oh wow.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Now that would be worth training a raccoon for.
- 15:44Speaker 2: That would be funny. So ultimately sort of a moral
- 15:49Speaker 2: gray area.
- 15:50Speaker 3: But we like it to see a raccoon writing a
- 15:53Speaker 3: letter on a keyboard or it's a novel or what
- 15:56Speaker 3: have you. That's very cute.
- 15:57Speaker 4: That would be cute.
- 16:03Speaker 3: I don't know if this is just like because the
- 16:05Speaker 3: way the algorithm works, and it's just happened to feed
- 16:07Speaker 3: me these exact people. But it feels like most owners
- 16:11Speaker 3: of raccoons and like things you find in the forest
- 16:14Speaker 3: seem to be in Eastern Europe or like Russia.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I guess that's I haven't had that experience, maybe because
- 16:23Speaker 2: also I think I've taught my algorithm.
- 16:24Speaker 4: I don't want to see that.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I find it upset, but I appreciate that you shared
- 16:32Speaker 2: with me something from your algorithm.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Algorithm does not know who I think. It's very confused
- 16:37Speaker 3: as to who I am and what I.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Want on TikTok or Instagram everything.
- 16:42Speaker 3: The only thing the algorithm has figured out and it's
- 16:45Speaker 3: not working. It's figured out that I'm a gay man.
- 16:47Speaker 3: And I think it's like these people want shorts, and
- 16:51Speaker 3: so I'm seeing a lot of ads for shorts that
- 16:53Speaker 3: are like nine hundred dollars. Well, you're not gonna get me.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, when you start getting I feel like whenever
- 16:59Speaker 2: I'm looking for a particularler clothing item, like I was
- 17:01Speaker 2: looking for like a nice dress for a wedding earlier
- 17:03Speaker 2: this year and I'd start getting ads and all the
- 17:06Speaker 2: and then I click on the ad thinking, oh, you
- 17:08Speaker 2: know what ultimately cool, I am looking for this, and
- 17:11Speaker 2: then you click and it's like a thousands of dollars.
- 17:13Speaker 3: I don't know, it's more expensive than you could have imagined.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Who is if I'm if I have thousands of dollars
- 17:21Speaker 2: to spend on address, I feel like I'm not going
- 17:23Speaker 2: to buy it from an Instagram suggested ad?
- 17:27Speaker 3: Right, you know what I mean?
- 17:28Speaker 4: Right, Like I'm going to be more purposeful.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Yeah, of course you have the power to make get
- 17:32Speaker 3: exactly what you want.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Someone can find it for me.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Maybe it's the assistance of the world who are opening
- 17:38Speaker 2: their their three thousand dollars address ads.
- 17:41Speaker 3: And algorithm what their boss wants. Whoa cracking something very
- 17:49Speaker 3: big out right now.
- 17:52Speaker 2: The original algorithm and no one talks about.
- 17:55Speaker 3: It, completely dehumanizing assistance. That's exactly what assistants want, as
- 18:00Speaker 3: if their bosses don't already do that. Yeah, I think. Yeah.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Occasionally I'll see a friend I hate when I fall
- 18:07Speaker 3: into the trap of like I like that shirt and
- 18:08Speaker 3: they're like, oh yeah, I saw it on Instagram, and
- 18:10Speaker 3: then I feel like, well, it's not that interesting anymore. Yeah,
- 18:13Speaker 3: I should tell me.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Yeah, don't tell anyone when you like anything they're wearing
- 18:18Speaker 2: any compliments, no compliments, no thing.
- 18:21Speaker 3: So what I'm saying is they shouldn't tell me. Just
- 18:23Speaker 3: make up a lie, say I found it under my bed.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I yeah, this, I forgot.
- 18:31Speaker 3: This actually just fell on my body.
- 18:33Speaker 4: I was born wearing gum.
- 18:36Speaker 3: An ancestor gave it to me. This kind of thing.
- 18:38Speaker 3: I would never if I had bought something off Instagram.
- 18:40Speaker 3: There's no way I would tell somebody else unless it
- 18:42Speaker 3: was like a kitchen gadget. Yeah.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I actually I'm not sure if I've ever bought something
- 18:47Speaker 2: off of Instagram. I did buy something off of TikTok
- 18:49Speaker 2: shop once.
- 18:50Speaker 3: A lot of people are buying TikTok shop, but.
- 18:51Speaker 4: I regretted it. Oh was it what I wanted?
- 18:54Speaker 2: So I wanted I have. I wanted like a portable
- 18:58Speaker 2: battery for my phone, and I have a phone case
- 19:01Speaker 2: that has a battery on it. But I saw this ad.
- 19:03Speaker 2: It was like, it's like magnetic. But I came to
- 19:06Speaker 2: discover that it's only magnetic to the back of your phone.
- 19:09Speaker 2: If you don't have a phone case. Oh on it. Well,
- 19:12Speaker 2: that's worthless. I was furious and I never bought off
- 19:15Speaker 2: TikTok shop again.
- 19:18Speaker 3: What I've never purchased off TikTok shop. Is it all
- 19:22Speaker 3: coming from the same place? Is it? Like I don't
- 19:24Speaker 3: understand because it feels like anybody can put up an
- 19:27Speaker 3: item and then it's for sale. Is that true?
- 19:29Speaker 2: I think it's probably I'm completely guessing here, but I
- 19:32Speaker 2: think it's sort of like how sellers can be on Amazon,
- 19:35Speaker 2: Like you can put your item there and then you
- 19:37Speaker 2: can like reach out to creators and have them post.
- 19:40Speaker 6: Right about just have to add that there is somebody
- 19:42Speaker 6: on TikTok right now selling jars of.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Air hair air air oh air.
- 19:47Speaker 6: Yeah, idea funny and it's funny, it's really So It's
- 19:51Speaker 6: like I think it can truly be anyone just putting
- 19:54Speaker 6: something up, and if it's a gag, people.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Are still into it. Yeah, people just want to throw
- 19:58Speaker 3: their money.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Also sells something else that they make, right, like some
- 20:02Speaker 2: sort of knitted item. But the videos are funny where
- 20:06Speaker 2: like people will ask, like, you know, obviously in the comments,
- 20:08Speaker 2: what do you mean they'll do like a apply video
- 20:11Speaker 2: being like, you know, I'm glad they're fully doing a
- 20:14Speaker 2: bit right, or they're.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Like scooping air a bit that is also a scam.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Really good, but it's like it's such a scam, that
- 20:21Speaker 2: is it a beautiful jar?
- 20:23Speaker 4: No, well, sometimes I do think, yeah.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Okay, let's see we're watching the video here.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Great, and like it's not a scam because everyone knows
- 20:33Speaker 2: it's silly, right, you know. So it's like and then
- 20:36Speaker 2: I do think it is driving to something else that
- 20:39Speaker 2: the person sells.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Maybe it's cheese. I'm not sure.
- 20:42Speaker 3: It's probably equally worthless in another way. Yeah, wow, well
- 20:46Speaker 3: maybe I need to start selling something on TikTok following
- 20:50Speaker 3: the bar is so low for products, people really don't
- 20:53Speaker 3: expect them to work. I think when you buy something
- 20:55Speaker 3: on TikTok shop, you're probably like, there's like a ten
- 20:57Speaker 3: percent chance this actually fulfills.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Completely blame myself for what happened with my purchase. It
- 21:03Speaker 2: was I fell into the trap, right, that makes sense. Yeah,
- 21:06Speaker 2: I wasn't like I've been wronged by TikTok shop. It's like,
- 21:09Speaker 2: this is obviously my fault.
- 21:13Speaker 3: I recently tried to send somebody. So this is a
- 21:17Speaker 3: long story. But on the Real house Wives of sal
- 21:20Speaker 3: La City, one of the housewives is being accused of
- 21:23Speaker 3: her jewelry line coming from Ali Baba. So I sent somebody.
- 21:26Speaker 3: I thought it would be fun to send somebody all
- 21:29Speaker 3: of the items I found of hers on that I
- 21:31Speaker 3: found on Ali Express. I had never bought anything off
- 21:34Speaker 3: of Ali Express.
- 21:35Speaker 4: I never have.
- 21:37Speaker 3: I mean, the problems I've caused for myself and this
- 21:40Speaker 3: other person, it's it's gonna last years. I get four
- 21:44Speaker 3: emails a day updating me on the fact that they're
- 21:46Speaker 3: not even shipped yet. And everyone I thought they were
- 21:50Speaker 3: all at least coming from the same ish place. No,
- 21:53Speaker 3: every one of these items is coming from a different
- 21:55Speaker 3: place right and may never even get there. And I
- 21:59Speaker 3: imagine one of these things is going to show up
- 22:01Speaker 3: to his house probably nine months.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Yeah, and so I guys even be friends by that because.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Of what I've done, I feel like I've really given
- 22:10Speaker 3: him a job. I thought, Oh, what a funny bit,
- 22:13Speaker 3: and ultimately I should have just bought I guess that's
- 22:16Speaker 3: what this housewife is doing the services. She's at least
- 22:20Speaker 3: collecting the items at her business to send.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Back out, or she's not having them sent directly.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Oh maybe she's drop shipping.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Yeah, right, it's the scam.
- 22:30Speaker 3: You're right, Rose scam, right, Yeah, because she can't.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Be waiting nine months for these items.
- 22:37Speaker 3: I mean, I wouldn't put it past unless.
- 22:38Speaker 2: She decided this is my business plan, ordered everything and
- 22:42Speaker 2: waited for them all to arrive and said, now I
- 22:46Speaker 2: start my business.
- 22:49Speaker 3: You never know, you.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Buy nine months worth of the product and then place
- 22:53Speaker 2: your next order.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I mean that's what I would have done. Yeah, So
- 22:58Speaker 3: I guess that's why I don't. I'm not in thejewelry business.
- 23:00Speaker 4: And that's the only reason.
- 23:02Speaker 3: It's the sole reason keeping me from the jewelry RD.
- 23:05Speaker 2: See you being a jeweler, you can make jewelry. I
- 23:08Speaker 2: bet you're creative. You can make something beautiful if given
- 23:13Speaker 2: the tools.
- 23:14Speaker 3: No way. I was in ceramics in high school. It
- 23:16Speaker 3: was a disaster.
- 23:18Speaker 4: I wanted to be in ceramics in high school. It
- 23:19Speaker 4: filled up. Oh a hot account, your blessings.
- 23:24Speaker 3: It's a hot class in high school. Everybody wants to
- 23:27Speaker 3: be in there. Everybody wants to be in there. Yeah,
- 23:29Speaker 3: and not everybody's cut out for the ceramics course. I
- 23:32Speaker 3: was one of those.
- 23:33Speaker 4: You weren't.
- 23:33Speaker 3: You found that out, but you want to find out
- 23:35Speaker 3: in high school? Yeah, Otherwise I could have gone to
- 23:37Speaker 3: college for ceramics and found out hundreds of thousands of
- 23:40Speaker 3: dollars later.
- 23:41Speaker 4: That's so true.
- 23:42Speaker 3: I can't throw a pot.
- 23:44Speaker 4: It does seem it is.
- 23:45Speaker 2: It is also more vulnerable to take a ceramics class
- 23:48Speaker 2: as an adult, it does, right, Like if you it
- 23:51Speaker 2: hurts more to be bad at something the older you get.
- 23:54Speaker 4: I think. I think.
- 23:58Speaker 2: The older you are and you try a new thing,
- 24:00Speaker 2: the more vulnerable it is, and so you find out
- 24:04Speaker 2: that you're bad at it.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Personally, I would give up right.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Away, of course, that's my entire remo.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Yeah, and maybe I would try again in years.
- 24:11Speaker 3: After everyone had forgotten that.
- 24:12Speaker 2: After everyone who's like three people that knew I tried,
- 24:15Speaker 2: they're dead, they've died. I only tell people who are
- 24:19Speaker 2: much older than me about my new adventures in life
- 24:22Speaker 2: to be safe.
- 24:24Speaker 3: It is a little tricky too as an adult to
- 24:26Speaker 3: be like, oh, I'm going to be creative. It's tough
- 24:29Speaker 3: people because all of your friends are like, oh, they
- 24:31Speaker 3: think they're creative, so cute, and now we have to
- 24:35Speaker 3: kind of support them, and we all know that we're
- 24:37Speaker 3: only being nice. So that's a tough spot to be
- 24:40Speaker 3: from a starting place as an adult. That's why you
- 24:43Speaker 3: got to start ceramics early.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Yeah, for me, you'll never ceramics.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Don't even think about it.
- 24:50Speaker 4: I'll never do it.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Well, look, there's something else that we've got to talk about. Unfortunately,
- 24:56Speaker 3: I've been having a very nice time up until now,
- 24:59Speaker 3: but I've been dancing around something with you. I was
- 25:03Speaker 3: so excited to have you here today on the podcast.
- 25:05Speaker 3: I thought, I haven't seen page in a while. We'll
- 25:08Speaker 3: catch up, we'll share secrets, et cetera. No no hurt feelings,
- 25:14Speaker 3: no bad vibes. The podcast is called I said no gifts,
- 25:19Speaker 3: and so I was a little surprised because I do know.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Emails have been sent, texts have been sent, the name
- 25:26Speaker 3: of the podcast has certainly come up. Yeah, and then
- 25:30Speaker 3: you come trotting into my backyard holding what couldn't more
- 25:33Speaker 3: clearly be a gift. This is a gift for me.
- 25:37Speaker 2: You know, I would say yes and no. I would
- 25:42Speaker 2: say that things were about to get complicated a little bit.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I'm obviously aware of the podcast. I'm a fan, I'm
- 25:48Speaker 2: a listener.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Well, there were gonna quiz later. I'm going to really
- 25:52Speaker 3: drill in and see if you're I wish you would,
- 25:55Speaker 3: but if I started asking specific questions to find out
- 25:57Speaker 3: if you actually I hit me. Not not in a
- 26:02Speaker 3: million years.
- 26:03Speaker 4: You don't even remember what you've said.
- 26:05Speaker 3: I certainly don't. I mean I would be the one
- 26:07Speaker 3: that failed that.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Yeah, personally, every time I've ever done a podcast, it's
- 26:10Speaker 2: my brain has emptied of everything I've said completely.
- 26:14Speaker 3: It's coming from another person. I think. Yeah, it's like
- 26:16Speaker 3: another one spirit that takes over my body.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Yeah, but I would say you should you should open this, okay,
- 26:23Speaker 2: and then you know, we can talk about whether it's
- 26:25Speaker 2: a gift or not.
- 26:29Speaker 3: All right, So it's in that we talked about this
- 26:32Speaker 3: before the podcast. Beautiful wrapping paper, some gorgeous flowers and
- 26:36Speaker 3: polka dots and the cutest little bow.
- 26:39Speaker 4: You gotta put a bow.
- 26:41Speaker 3: I love this style of bow where it's like a
- 26:43Speaker 3: back of a dinosaur, the spiky.
- 26:46Speaker 2: It's giving Sarah from Lamb before Times Sarah completely Yeah, yeah,
- 26:52Speaker 2: uh huh. I think the wrapping paper is from World Market.
- 26:56Speaker 3: World Market. I want to say, I love World Market.
- 26:58Speaker 4: They have stuff like this. That's what I love about that.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Yeah, they kind of got everything. I buy my Coco there.
- 27:03Speaker 4: I had no idea they've.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Got their little secret grocery store in the back.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I do.
- 27:08Speaker 3: I used to have a boss that would always call
- 27:10Speaker 3: it cost plus World Market and it made me want.
- 27:12Speaker 4: To kill her.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Yeah, that's too many words. Just say world market.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you're being too formal and you're showing off that
- 27:19Speaker 2: you know the full name.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Yeah, no one else knew the name. I would be confused.
- 27:22Speaker 3: I'd be like, is there another World Market.
- 27:24Speaker 2: It's like when people do you ever encounter those people
- 27:27Speaker 2: know a celebrity with a stage name, they know their
- 27:30Speaker 2: real name, and then they feel like I would to
- 27:33Speaker 2: see Saint Vincent and people were like shouting out Annie
- 27:37Speaker 2: her mouth.
- 27:37Speaker 3: She doesn't want to hear that.
- 27:39Speaker 2: We don't think you're cool or know her because you
- 27:42Speaker 2: know that. And that's the same as calling it cost
- 27:45Speaker 2: plus World Market.
- 27:47Speaker 3: You're name dropping, and cost Plus World Market is kind
- 27:50Speaker 3: of the Saint Vincent of retailers. I would say, Okay, well,
- 27:57Speaker 3: let's dive in here. I would say it's about the
- 27:59Speaker 3: same side as a vinyl record, maybe slightly smaller, but
- 28:03Speaker 3: I'm bad with shapes and sizes.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I'm bad with shapes and sizes. O God, this is yours,
- 28:13Speaker 2: this is my vinyl.
- 28:15Speaker 3: And I didn't know you had vinyl.
- 28:17Speaker 2: What you'll notice is I signed it on the back.
- 28:21Speaker 3: This is Bridger. That'll be fifteen dollars love page going
- 28:25Speaker 3: to get from me.
- 28:27Speaker 4: If you pay me for it, it won't be a gift.
- 28:29Speaker 3: That's why it's complicated.
- 28:31Speaker 4: So it's a little bit complicated. Please don't pay me
- 28:33Speaker 4: for it.
- 28:33Speaker 3: But going into question my integrity as a host.
- 28:36Speaker 4: How committed are you to not receiving again?
- 28:38Speaker 3: Little? Did you know? I have zero integrity and that
- 28:43Speaker 3: makes you bad? Yeah? Yeah, that's a detail.
- 28:46Speaker 2: You when someone says, why is bridge are bad? No integrity?
- 28:51Speaker 2: He doesn't follow up on his promises and has such
- 28:55Speaker 2: supposed beliefs about whether someone should bring him a gift
- 28:59Speaker 2: or not.
- 29:01Speaker 3: I heard a rumor Bridger has no integrity. Okay, well
- 29:06Speaker 3: you brought this is your new This.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Is my stand up album called I Turned Out Fine.
- 29:10Speaker 3: And it's got this fantastic picture of you on the
- 29:12Speaker 3: front eating spaghetti.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a recreation of a childhood photo which is
- 29:16Speaker 2: on the back where I'm eating spaghetti covered in margarine.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Oh margarine, interesting choice.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it was what we called butter in my house,
- 29:25Speaker 2: but it was margarine.
- 29:27Speaker 3: That big tub, oh my god, that tub is as
- 29:30Speaker 3: big as a can of paint.
- 29:31Speaker 2: It was a mainstay. That is accurate. It's about size
- 29:34Speaker 2: of faith. And so I recreated the photo margin.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Well, so a fun fact.
- 29:41Speaker 2: So Catherine Leone and Kelli Bigger Stuff, who did the
- 29:44Speaker 2: photo with me, they also made props for it. So
- 29:47Speaker 2: they made that margarine.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Wow, yeah, it's beautiful. Yeah.
- 29:51Speaker 2: They bought I think it was a sour cream tub
- 29:53Speaker 2: and they spray painted a yellow and made the label
- 29:55Speaker 2: because that is no longer right.
- 29:57Speaker 3: There's no way that yeah still exists. What about the
- 30:00Speaker 3: squirt that's a that's just a current. Yeah, it's a
- 30:03Speaker 3: modern square. Yeah, they can of squirre.
- 30:05Speaker 2: We thought that the logo hadn't changed enough that we
- 30:08Speaker 2: needed to make that extra effort.
- 30:10Speaker 3: I mean, I would argue it's a completely different can.
- 30:15Speaker 2: You should have been on the creative team. Yes, I wish,
- 30:18Speaker 2: I really wish.
- 30:20Speaker 3: That's why I'm on so many creative teams. Yeah, pulling
- 30:22Speaker 3: out these details for people, I've got that artistic eye.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and yet you think you couldn't make jewelry my.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Goodness, Well tell me why you brought this today?
- 30:33Speaker 2: Well, I just wanted you to have it. It's something
- 30:36Speaker 2: I'm proud.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Of and it's pretty recent, right, Yeah.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I released it in September end of September with a
- 30:42Speaker 2: special Thing Records. And it's cool that the vinyl is
- 30:45Speaker 2: also green, which is it's like it's like recycled vinyl.
- 30:50Speaker 4: They use like scraps of a certain color.
- 30:53Speaker 3: It's like emeralds.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it might be hard to pull out of this.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Sometimes the static causes an.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Issue, but it's like a green and bowling ball.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's they're all unique because they're like blended up.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Oh that's so beautiful. Yeah. Why aren't they doing every
- 31:05Speaker 3: record like this?
- 31:06Speaker 4: I honestly don't know.
- 31:07Speaker 2: When I was told I could choose that, I was like,
- 31:09Speaker 2: why wouldn't you choose that?
- 31:11Speaker 3: Right? And that's why you have integrity, Bridger.
- 31:14Speaker 4: I have to be honest.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I'm a little bit nervous right now because I have
- 31:17Speaker 2: to tell you something. What I actually got you two gifts.
- 31:22Speaker 2: What I knew I was going to bring you this.
- 31:24Speaker 2: No matter what, this doesn't feel like a gift to me.
- 31:27Speaker 4: This is a promotional emotional tool.
- 31:33Speaker 2: But I also I think when I mentioned to you
- 31:36Speaker 2: that I would love to do the podcast, I said
- 31:38Speaker 2: that I'm a really good gift giver.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Yes, that's the only reason I allowed you on.
- 31:43Speaker 2: And yeah, I felt the need to pitch myself. I
- 31:46Speaker 2: felt like I should say that, trust you, I'm a
- 31:49Speaker 2: really good gift giver.
- 31:50Speaker 4: It's a problem.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I feel almost guilty sometimes when I give people gifts
- 31:54Speaker 2: because they're too good and nobody can ever match me. Right,
- 31:58Speaker 2: But I, as I said, I'm a list of the podcast.
- 32:01Speaker 2: When I was listening recently, you were talking about ASMR.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Oh. Yeah, sure, And.
- 32:07Speaker 2: I know you said you forget everything you say, but
- 32:09Speaker 2: maybe you'll remember this. You were talking about a specific
- 32:12Speaker 2: type of ASMR video.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Oh, yes, but you MMR video.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Yeah, do you remember what it was?
- 32:18Speaker 3: Yes, it's somebody like at a national park or a
- 32:22Speaker 3: museum with a little map telling you how it works.
- 32:25Speaker 3: You know, like they're like telling you where to go
- 32:27Speaker 3: or whatever, and they're marking the map.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Yeah with what with a highlighter? Yeah, with a highlighter.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:33Speaker 3: I wasn't gonna say that because I was like, maybe
- 32:34Speaker 3: that's too many details, but that is one part of it.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:38Speaker 2: I think you also said specifically someone telling you to
- 32:42Speaker 2: go to how to get to Old Faithful.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Wow, you remember a lot of flings.
- 32:49Speaker 4: So I went onto cameo.
- 32:54Speaker 2: What and I found an ASMR creator and her Name'satasha.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Here she is. This is unbelievable as.
- 33:04Speaker 3: This, So I in trouble. Let's just say trouble.
- 33:13Speaker 2: And it's ten minutes long, so we do not have
- 33:15Speaker 2: to listen to the whole thing. I wish we wouldn't,
- 33:18Speaker 2: but I think we should. Let's listen to the first
- 33:21Speaker 2: bit and then I have some some time codes. I'd
- 33:23Speaker 2: like us to sort of jump.
- 33:25Speaker 3: I'm so excited about this.
- 33:26Speaker 2: And I obviously told her your name is Bridger, and
- 33:28Speaker 2: I said all the things that we okay, great, just sadden.
- 33:33Speaker 2: She's typing, Oh.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm approaching. Excuse me, excuse me?
- 33:43Speaker 5: How can I help you?
- 33:44Speaker 3: I'm looking for old faithful.
- 33:46Speaker 5: Are you doing the bark so far?
- 33:49Speaker 3: I could use a little. I could see some directions.
- 33:54Speaker 3: I'm Bridger, Yes.
- 33:58Speaker 5: I am, I'm a barker. I can help me with
- 34:00Speaker 5: whatever you mean?
- 34:06Speaker 4: Can we pause? She's kind of created this character where
- 34:14Speaker 4: she's new.
- 34:17Speaker 2: And she doesn't know if she can't answer your questions,
- 34:19Speaker 2: like she can look it up in the database. She
- 34:21Speaker 2: kind of gets into some of that okay, which I love,
- 34:24Speaker 2: and she does like start. What I will say is
- 34:26Speaker 2: I did ask for her to use a highlighter. I
- 34:28Speaker 2: don't want you to be disappointed. She definitely uses a
- 34:31Speaker 2: green sharpie.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Oh but that same texture, But it does.
- 34:34Speaker 2: There are some nice moments of the sound.
- 34:36Speaker 3: If it was a pencil or a pen, it would
- 34:38Speaker 3: be ruined.
- 34:38Speaker 4: I said, not pen in my request.
- 34:42Speaker 3: My dream would have been shattered.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Well, it's and I after listening to the episode, I
- 34:47Speaker 2: saw that what you were talking about, there are a
- 34:49Speaker 2: lot of people out there with pens, and it doesn't
- 34:51Speaker 2: and it's not the same.
- 34:53Speaker 3: The same thing.
- 34:54Speaker 2: If you could skip to like threeish minutes in it's
- 34:57Speaker 2: she likes starts telling you about like places you could
- 35:00Speaker 2: stop along the way, which I think is really nice.
- 35:04Speaker 2: She also does, like multiple times throughout repeat that she's
- 35:07Speaker 2: a park ranger.
- 35:09Speaker 4: She really got into it, Yeah, she like. Honestly, I'm
- 35:12Speaker 4: I'm very pleased.
- 35:14Speaker 5: There's the Mammoth thought hot Springs. But you'd have to
- 35:16Speaker 5: go a little bit out of your way to get there.
- 35:24Speaker 5: I mean it's worth it, Okay, yeah, it would be.
- 35:30Speaker 5: It would be quite Did you bring like a list
- 35:34Speaker 5: with the things that you're gonna need for the trip?
- 35:36Speaker 5: Are you planning on camping at all?
- 35:39Speaker 3: A little bit, okay, so it's just write.
- 35:41Speaker 5: Down the things you definitely don't want to miss.
- 35:45Speaker 2: A fantastic she does start like asking later she's concerned
- 35:48Speaker 2: about your safety. Yeah, she printed out. I guess we
- 35:51Speaker 2: haven't seen yet. She does have a printed out map.
- 35:54Speaker 3: This is such dedication.
- 35:55Speaker 4: I am so impressed.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Do we know how we advertise her?
- 35:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Natasha, a SMR on cameo. I'm very pleased
- 36:04Speaker 2: with her word. I didn't choose for her to also
- 36:07Speaker 2: be a redhead, but I.
- 36:08Speaker 4: Thought it was kind of nice.
- 36:15Speaker 3: This is a dream for me.
- 36:17Speaker 2: I just want to see her pull the map up.
- 36:20Speaker 2: I want you to see the map she printed. She
- 36:23Speaker 2: has it on a little.
- 36:26Speaker 3: High A love for this sort of Yeah, it's not
- 36:29Speaker 3: out there, it's simply not.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Oh that might be a real highlighter.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Yeah, that looks like a highlight.
- 36:41Speaker 4: She had a green pan earlier.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Well, she's you know, she's a professional. She has several tools.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, my brain is melting. Now I don't
- 36:53Speaker 3: have to go to museums anymore. Well, and I choose
- 36:58Speaker 3: that sound is incredible.
- 37:00Speaker 2: She said museum or park And later on when she's
- 37:03Speaker 2: talking about places you could stop. She does mention the
- 37:05Speaker 2: museum's detailed, but.
- 37:13Speaker 5: Your road that you're following starts at the yellow circle
- 37:16Speaker 5: of theirs, so keep that in mind.
- 37:18Speaker 4: I'm going to just.
- 37:20Speaker 5: Highlight in red some areas that are just not good
- 37:24Speaker 5: at the moment.
- 37:26Speaker 2: She talks about places where like things are closed at
- 37:28Speaker 2: this time of year. If you go to a detail. Yeah,
- 37:33Speaker 2: there's like eight fish minutes. There's like another time where
- 37:36Speaker 2: she says Bridger when I found that. Oh, I won't
- 37:40Speaker 2: say what she says, but the sort of signing off
- 37:44Speaker 2: with you in this moment and like giving you like
- 37:47Speaker 2: a phone number to call if you have any issues,
- 37:49Speaker 2: and remember my name is Natasha.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Hands me a walkie talkie.
- 37:53Speaker 5: Yeah okay, ah, you definitely I want to make sure
- 38:01Speaker 5: you have stuff like that. I'm making sure everything on
- 38:03Speaker 5: your list is circled here for you quickly. Right, I'm
- 38:10Speaker 5: just gonna write your name down on the map.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Thank You's been a lot of map theft.
- 38:19Speaker 4: No one can say they didn't know it was your map.
- 38:22Speaker 5: Okay, there go for Richard perfect.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I feel like you can hear her making the shapes
- 38:31Speaker 2: of the are Oh yeah, of course it's really nice.
- 38:35Speaker 5: All right? Do you think you have adequate amount of food?
- 38:38Speaker 3: Oh? You have really taken care of me. Oh yes, yes,
- 38:42Speaker 3: I've got the food in the water.
- 38:43Speaker 5: I mean, if you're doing the trip, you're probably prepared,
- 38:45Speaker 5: but you would be surprised how many people are just not.
- 38:49Speaker 3: So we want to be sure.
- 38:50Speaker 5: I'm going to write you down a phone number year
- 38:52Speaker 5: that you can call if you need any help.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Oh great, Like has she been a park ranger?
- 38:58Speaker 3: This is method mh.
- 39:00Speaker 4: I mean this is kind of the end.
- 39:03Speaker 3: She's just kind of taken care of you.
- 39:04Speaker 5: Know.
- 39:04Speaker 2: You can when you're trying to fall asleep at night
- 39:07Speaker 2: sending me off into the park, you can listen to
- 39:09Speaker 2: Natashasha just in.
- 39:11Speaker 5: Case you forgot or you forget personally, I'm horrible with names,
- 39:16Speaker 5: so I would not be invented.
- 39:18Speaker 3: I'll me too, but you won't.
- 39:20Speaker 5: Anyways, I wrote it down, so here is your mam
- 39:24Speaker 5: for you.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Everything look nice, This is good, I'm.
- 39:28Speaker 5: All right perfect. I'm just gonna give it a little fault.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Oh so good.
- 39:39Speaker 5: And if it does, it's not on the actual man, right,
- 39:42Speaker 5: but I'm sure it will. But everything you're.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Doing, Natasha, you've really taken care of me. And I
- 39:49Speaker 3: appreciate it.
- 39:52Speaker 4: I like that you're interacting with her. Thank you so.
- 39:55Speaker 5: Much for coming in. I hope you have an amazing time.
- 39:57Speaker 3: No, thank you, We're gonna love it. We'll see you
- 40:01Speaker 3: around Natasha. Wow, that is an unbelievable gift. I'm going
- 40:06Speaker 3: to sleep for forty hours after listening to that, Like,
- 40:12Speaker 3: I'm so happy. All anxiety has washed away from me.
- 40:17Speaker 2: I'm so glad and that's all I wanted to gift
- 40:19Speaker 2: to you. I hope you can forgive me for bringing forgift.
- 40:24Speaker 4: This is spectacular.
- 40:26Speaker 3: What like in communicating with her, like, how many exchanges
- 40:30Speaker 3: were there? Did she have questions?
- 40:32Speaker 2: No? I just wrote to her the allotted amount of
- 40:35Speaker 2: characters on cameo wow, and she delivered wow.
- 40:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:40Speaker 3: How many characters do they give you?
- 40:42Speaker 4: Like two hundred and fifty or so?
- 40:44Speaker 3: Not a lot.
- 40:44Speaker 2: I know you and I can be long winded, so
- 40:47Speaker 2: I had to edit myself and I felt the need
- 40:50Speaker 2: I almost I noticed in writing it. Initially I had
- 40:54Speaker 2: a desire to be like and that that doesn't make sense.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Let me know and thank you so much. I was like,
- 40:58Speaker 2: you actually are on a space for that. That's for later,
- 41:01Speaker 2: I guess I'll tell her thank you, but she did
- 41:04Speaker 2: a great job. I was really I had a few ideas.
- 41:07Speaker 2: I did text you asking if you had any food
- 41:09Speaker 2: allergies because of a different idea that I changed my
- 41:11Speaker 2: mind about.
- 41:12Speaker 3: So so when did you produce this video?
- 41:15Speaker 4: I got it this morning?
- 41:17Speaker 3: Yeah, because you texted me I think yesterday.
- 41:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:20Speaker 2: To be honest, I I panicked because I was going
- 41:23Speaker 2: to bring you cookies and then I saw the zach
- 41:26Speaker 2: nooy Towers just brought you cookies. I was like, I
- 41:29Speaker 2: can't do that, but like, ultimately I think it's for
- 41:32Speaker 2: the best because.
- 41:33Speaker 3: This wash cookies. I mean, I hate to gift, but
- 41:38Speaker 3: you can make yourself a cookie. Yeah, I can ask
- 41:40Speaker 3: myself a cookie as and now this I've got to
- 41:44Speaker 3: like burn this stuff like physical media. I need this forever. Yeah,
- 41:47Speaker 3: you need to put this on vinyl.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Oh I'm going to release.
- 41:50Speaker 3: This as a vinyl and then get sued by Natasha.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we all asked Natasha what your rights are
- 41:57Speaker 2: as the recipient of this cameo.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Wow, it's really that's I mean, you've gone above and beyond.
- 42:04Speaker 3: I just can't believe have you ever done another cameo before?
- 42:08Speaker 2: I did one? Other cameo with a group of friends.
- 42:11Speaker 2: We we tried to get the guy from say anything to.
- 42:18Speaker 3: John Cusack and oh, it's like, what she has a.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Cameo and he basically the cameo cameo. We're waiting for
- 42:30Speaker 2: our refund because we cannot hear a word. It's like, like,
- 42:34Speaker 2: I don't know if he had his hand on the microphone.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Professional musician, wasn't a lot, I wasn't able to record audio.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Oh he's a tough It.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Was weird, it was, but it was like it was
- 42:43Speaker 2: kind of funny because it was bad, but it was
- 42:45Speaker 2: also bad. And I'm it was like not crazy expensive,
- 42:50Speaker 2: and we split it between a bunch of friends as
- 42:51Speaker 2: like a birthday gift. But I guess it's possible. My
- 42:55Speaker 2: friend who ordered it got a refund and hasn't told us,
- 42:57Speaker 2: but I'm pretty.
- 42:57Speaker 4: Sure she would.
- 42:58Speaker 3: It was her money making sin.
- 43:00Speaker 2: She did this knowing all along she would get a
- 43:03Speaker 2: few bucks from each of us.
- 43:05Speaker 3: She was looking to steal ten dollars from all of
- 43:06Speaker 3: her friends.
- 43:07Speaker 2: I think so. But yeah, I've never done another cameo other.
- 43:09Speaker 3: Than okay, yes, the only I've never done one. Jim
- 43:13Speaker 3: has done one. He got one for his mom from
- 43:16Speaker 3: a soap opera star that she's had a crush on
- 43:19Speaker 3: for like forty years.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Did she love it?
- 43:22Speaker 3: She went crazy? Oh my god, his name's like he
- 43:25Speaker 3: has some nickname like Sweaty Muscles or something something.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Like that could be very muscular.
- 43:31Speaker 3: I mean, he's probably in his seventies at this point.
- 43:33Speaker 3: He's trying to keep it together. Okay, I assume at
- 43:36Speaker 3: some point he was kind of a hot shot soap
- 43:38Speaker 3: opera guy.
- 43:39Speaker 4: I do find cameo sort of tragic.
- 43:42Speaker 2: I was gonna say, I think it's the perfect, perfect,
- 43:44Speaker 2: like to give a cameo to someone who's older, who
- 43:46Speaker 2: like doesn't totally get what cameo is and means.
- 43:49Speaker 3: Right, doesn't understand like that.
- 43:51Speaker 2: It doesn't understand that it means that your favorite person
- 43:53Speaker 2: is like in dire straits.
- 43:57Speaker 3: That's the new slogan. Your favorite person is in dire straits. Cameo.
- 44:02Speaker 2: A person needs some more passive income relative relatively passive income.
- 44:09Speaker 3: That's so true though. Yeah, they're like, oh, I guess
- 44:12Speaker 3: that this I'm just special and this must have cost
- 44:14Speaker 3: thousands of dollars and just let the person assume.
- 44:17Speaker 2: That, Yeah, one of the top gifts that I think
- 44:19Speaker 2: you don't want to tell how much it costs if
- 44:21Speaker 2: it's like a celebrity gift, because like obviously for creators
- 44:25Speaker 2: like Natasha like it totally is just part of the
- 44:28Speaker 2: business as opposed to the celebrities who are on there.
- 44:31Speaker 3: It's a little bit like right at one point, they
- 44:34Speaker 3: were potentially making millions of dollars.
- 44:37Speaker 2: It's like how I feel when I see Mandy Moore
- 44:39Speaker 2: in those TJ Max ads.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Oh, I didn't know Mandy was doing TJ's.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's like, obviously, I hope she's a lot
- 44:50Speaker 2: of money from This is Us because it was a
- 44:52Speaker 2: network show.
- 44:53Speaker 3: There's never enough money. Once you get a taste of
- 44:56Speaker 3: the This is Us money, you want more money.
- 44:58Speaker 2: My hope is that she's not doing that because she
- 45:00Speaker 2: needs to and more like they came to her with that,
- 45:02Speaker 2: she was like, I guess, yeah, Well, while she's collecting
- 45:06Speaker 2: her residuals from This is.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Us, she probably is. I imagine TJ's is paying her all
- 45:12Speaker 3: kinds of money.
- 45:12Speaker 4: I'm sure.
- 45:13Speaker 3: I mean, is she currently employed outside.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Of I guess, I don't know what she's Well, she
- 45:18Speaker 2: is doing a podcast called That was Us.
- 45:22Speaker 3: That Oh okay, Well, that was sure.
- 45:25Speaker 4: Now this is Us.
- 45:25Speaker 3: That was us, And now that sounds kind of accusatory.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Um, yeah, she's saying that is not me anymore.
- 45:33Speaker 3: I've got to be very clear.
- 45:34Speaker 2: I am not a Pierson anymore. I am a fan
- 45:36Speaker 2: of This Is Us. I really like that show.
- 45:39Speaker 3: I've only the only episode I've seen is ten minutes
- 45:42Speaker 3: of the last one. Somebody could do she was on
- 45:44Speaker 3: a train or something. Yeah, spoiler she gets on a train.
- 45:49Speaker 3: If that's a big part of the series, I'm sorry.
- 45:51Speaker 2: It's it's very funny because that scene is like very
- 45:55Speaker 2: beautiful and emotional, But it's funny if you don't know
- 45:59Speaker 2: the context.
- 46:01Speaker 3: And listener, if you don't want this thing spoiled for you, well,
- 46:05Speaker 3: actually keep listening. I don't care. Is the train going
- 46:09Speaker 3: to heaven or something?
- 46:10Speaker 2: In so many words, yeah, she's yeah, she's dying, and
- 46:14Speaker 2: she's sort of like reliving like people and moments of her.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Li Oh okay, so she like in reality, she's probably
- 46:20Speaker 3: in a hospital bed and she's imagining I'm on a train,
- 46:23Speaker 3: because I assume the character is obsessed with trains.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's it. That's what I never really thought about.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Why it's a train they probably had one to shoot on. Remember,
- 46:34Speaker 2: it was either that or a fog machine. And yeah,
- 46:37Speaker 2: must put her on a train. Train feels like that
- 46:40Speaker 2: a train is the thing you go to Helen.
- 46:42Speaker 4: Yeah, actually that's very true.
- 46:45Speaker 3: So maybe that's the big secret.
- 46:47Speaker 2: I don't know that it's really said if she goes
- 46:50Speaker 2: to heaven or hell. And that's why I write my
- 46:52Speaker 2: fan fiction about her time in hell. Rebecca Pearson goes
- 46:58Speaker 2: to Hell. That's canon.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Your fan fiction. This is hell, this is hell.
- 47:04Speaker 2: This is what happens when after your husband dies you
- 47:07Speaker 2: marry his best friend.
- 47:08Speaker 3: Okay, is that what happens? She should go to hell.
- 47:11Speaker 4: It's complicated, but yes, I'm.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Taking a real strong stance on this character. She should
- 47:16Speaker 3: burn for eternity.
- 47:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, but do we blame Miguel as well,
- 47:20Speaker 2: the best friend.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Well, he'll probably go to hell as well. Yeah, but
- 47:25Speaker 3: they can't be together.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Mm and Jack is in heaven, myle event Toglia is
- 47:32Speaker 2: in heaven.
- 47:33Speaker 3: He isn't a person who dies because the appliance starts
- 47:36Speaker 3: on fire.
- 47:37Speaker 4: Yeah, Okay, it's.
- 47:38Speaker 2: A really tease it for so long in the series,
- 47:42Speaker 2: like you you know he dies, but.
- 47:43Speaker 4: You don't know how.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Oh, I had never watched the show when it was on,
- 47:47Speaker 2: and I binged it this past year, so I really
- 47:50Speaker 2: know a lot of like it's recent in my memory.
- 47:54Speaker 3: Maybe I should get into it.
- 47:56Speaker 4: Maybe I do like it.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Is like sincerely or is there like an element of
- 48:00Speaker 3: like this. I know, I realized this is a little,
- 48:02Speaker 3: uh melodramatic, and it's fine.
- 48:05Speaker 2: I would say nine sincerely ten percent, like this is
- 48:08Speaker 2: over the top, like because there obviously are moments that
- 48:11Speaker 2: are like, oh my god, this is so like dramatic.
- 48:14Speaker 2: But I also I'm like, but it's also compelling, So like,
- 48:19Speaker 2: what am I like? How much am I going to
- 48:21Speaker 2: analyze my enjoyment of this? You know, like I am
- 48:25Speaker 2: compelled and I want to know what happens, and I
- 48:26Speaker 2: do care about the characters.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Right, And so this is the problem with my entire
- 48:30Speaker 3: life is I can't do things. Yeah, I will just
- 48:33Speaker 3: be constantly thinking, analyzing if I'm enjoying and why I'm enjoying,
- 48:38Speaker 3: and so ultimately not enjoying.
- 48:40Speaker 2: You might have a hard time with this as okay,
- 48:42Speaker 2: but I loved it.
- 48:43Speaker 3: I mean I loved those ten minutes on the train.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Watch the Pilot. Okay, the Pilot is a really good pilot.
- 48:50Speaker 3: And they do put them in like old people.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Clothes or yeah, because it takes place like we're constantly
- 48:57Speaker 2: flashing back and forward.
- 48:58Speaker 3: And when we flash back, it's not like flashing back
- 49:01Speaker 3: to the two thousands and then they're in the future.
- 49:02Speaker 3: They're like flashing back to the seventies or something.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Yes, it starts. Everything starts in the seventies, okay, yeah,
- 49:08Speaker 2: or yeah, like late seventies because in the first episode
- 49:12Speaker 2: the triplets are turning thirty six.
- 49:15Speaker 4: It's like their thirty sixth birthday.
- 49:16Speaker 3: Oh three of them. Huh wow.
- 49:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:20Speaker 3: I almost would prefer the show if it took place
- 49:22Speaker 3: in like twenty fifty five and then they were flashing back.
- 49:25Speaker 3: But then you probably won't have the crock pot.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be harder to place it in time
- 49:30Speaker 2: right and things we know.
- 49:33Speaker 3: I get. Yeah, it would probably be an instant pot
- 49:35Speaker 3: that explodes in his face or something that kills him.
- 49:38Speaker 3: But that's it. There's always room for a reboot. I
- 49:41Speaker 3: wish they would Jack killed by an air fry or something.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Everything's different this time except the same act that she
- 49:49Speaker 3: goes to.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Hell, except for the fact that he dies and she
- 49:52Speaker 2: goes to hell. Yeah, and he goes to heaven.
- 49:58Speaker 3: I'm ready, well so excited about my ASMR video, Natasha
- 50:03Speaker 3: will just be putting me to sleep.
- 50:04Speaker 4: I hope it genuinely helps you.
- 50:06Speaker 3: I cannot tell you how many times I've googled and
- 50:09Speaker 3: then got right into YouTube. I've gone on TikTok, I've
- 50:12Speaker 3: looked for this, and as you know, they don't exist.
- 50:15Speaker 3: They don't exist, and some people have really put in
- 50:17Speaker 3: an effort. They'll put on like a Park Ranger uniform,
- 50:20Speaker 3: which we don't need.
- 50:21Speaker 4: No, it's the.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Sounds that matter.
- 50:23Speaker 4: It's the sounds that matter.
- 50:24Speaker 3: But they all forget about the highlighter. And so now
- 50:28Speaker 3: I've got the one of these that exists, and maybe
- 50:32Speaker 3: it'll inspire some other creators.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe. So you don't have to share this. This
- 50:36Speaker 2: is yours, This is my personal little treat. What's ASMR
- 50:41Speaker 2: for you?
- 50:43Speaker 4: I do like the whispering. I enjoy a good.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Crinkle of something, oh you know, sure? Or I like
- 50:50Speaker 2: the ones where it's like makeup brushes.
- 50:53Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I wonder is there some sort of like
- 50:57Speaker 3: memory thing also attached where like because I don't use makeup,
- 51:01Speaker 3: I don't feel like that would really have any effect
- 51:03Speaker 3: on me.
- 51:04Speaker 2: Yeah, like I guess, because yeah, I don't really I
- 51:07Speaker 2: guess the whole thing about ASMR is we like don't
- 51:09Speaker 2: totally understand what is happening.
- 51:12Speaker 4: Mmm.
- 51:13Speaker 2: I do feel like I remember the first time I
- 51:15Speaker 2: felt like the experience of ASMR, but I like didn't
- 51:18Speaker 2: know that that existed.
- 51:19Speaker 4: But it was when I was in.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Like a I was having a meeting with like my
- 51:23Speaker 2: college counselor, and she was just like telling me like
- 51:26Speaker 2: what I could do, And I was kind of like,
- 51:28Speaker 2: why am I so relaxed by this even though I'm
- 51:30Speaker 2: kind of also stressed about my future. So maybe I
- 51:36Speaker 2: would maybe I would like an ASMR video. Maybe I'll
- 51:39Speaker 2: order one from Natasha of her as my college counselor
- 51:42Speaker 2: telling my course catalog and what I could do.
- 51:46Speaker 3: I don't think I got a college counselor. I think
- 51:48Speaker 3: my school counselors failed me in a huge way.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Well, this was my college counselor at my community college
- 51:55Speaker 2: because my no offense to community college. But because I
- 51:58Speaker 2: didn't really have somebody at my high school who was
- 52:01Speaker 2: like telling me what schools I should realistically apply.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Oh, I went through this exact experience. Yeah, my high
- 52:07Speaker 3: school counselor was just always bragging about how her brother
- 52:10Speaker 3: had a job in Hollywood. But despite me it like
- 52:17Speaker 3: mildly expressing interest in it, she had no interest in Yes,
- 52:23Speaker 3: she just wanted to brag about him, so good riddance.
- 52:26Speaker 4: Was she Mormon?
- 52:27Speaker 2: Do we know?
- 52:29Speaker 3: Probably? But yeah, asmr Yeah, it's the same thing for me.
- 52:34Speaker 3: I've been haunted at or at national parks and museums
- 52:39Speaker 3: until these things became popular. And what the twenty tens.
- 52:43Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that feels true.
- 52:45Speaker 3: And like we became aware or at least the larger
- 52:48Speaker 3: public became aware of it. Yeah, and now I've really
- 52:51Speaker 3: secured my ultimate asmryah gorgeous. Well, I think we should
- 52:56Speaker 3: play a game.
- 52:57Speaker 4: I would love to play a game.
- 52:59Speaker 3: Let's play Gift a Curse. I need a number between
- 53:02Speaker 3: one and ten from you.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Seven.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Okay. I have to do some light calculating to get
- 53:06Speaker 3: our game pieces. So right now, you can promote, recommend,
- 53:10Speaker 3: do whatever you want. I'll be right back.
- 53:11Speaker 4: Okay, I guess I'll promote.
- 53:13Speaker 2: You can buy my album on vinyl it is fifteen dollars,
- 53:18Speaker 2: or you can listen to it wherever. But I would
- 53:20Speaker 2: say then just take it as what it is. Which
- 53:22Speaker 2: is a promotional tool, and then I guess I would
- 53:25Speaker 2: just be promoting me. If you want to give me
- 53:27Speaker 2: a job or anything like that. I'm free and obviously hilarious.
- 53:32Speaker 2: Obviously you should also watch This is Us. It's on Netflix.
- 53:36Speaker 2: I also watched all of Desperate Housewives recently. That's kind
- 53:39Speaker 2: of what I'm getting into. If anyone wants to just
- 53:42Speaker 2: talk to me about Desperate Housewives, I'm promoting that as well.
- 53:45Speaker 4: Reach out. They should not have killed Edie spoiler.
- 53:49Speaker 3: Alert should go to hell?
- 53:52Speaker 2: Sure, based on the rules i'm to understand about how
- 53:57Speaker 2: Edie definitely goes to hell.
- 54:03Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, everybody, fine, Page Page is so funny and
- 54:06Speaker 3: just delightful. I've worked with you, It's true. We worked
- 54:09Speaker 3: on Corporate together, and I remember combining forces in a
- 54:13Speaker 3: big way when we were writing Oh Yeah, the good
- 54:17Speaker 3: Job episode because I had to really fight for an
- 54:20Speaker 3: element of the show and I felt your support and
- 54:23Speaker 3: you had a great joke that I think might be
- 54:25Speaker 3: the last joke in the show. Yeah, do you remember
- 54:29Speaker 3: what this is?
- 54:29Speaker 4: The scene is the like the count off?
- 54:32Speaker 3: Right? Yes? Yeah, there's like a there's a car saleswoman
- 54:35Speaker 3: played by Lauren Lapkus wonderfully, but she's eventually discovered to
- 54:40Speaker 3: be kind of a murderous car saleswoman that's trying to
- 54:43Speaker 3: escape the country and ends up killing shooting five FBI agents.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Right, And what we're following the whole time is she
- 54:52Speaker 2: wants to get a five star review.
- 54:54Speaker 3: Yes, five out of five, five out of five.
- 54:56Speaker 4: So when we had these five.
- 54:58Speaker 3: People, when she's done, when this murderous car saleswoman is
- 55:03Speaker 3: done killing these federal agents, she says five out of five.
- 55:08Speaker 3: And then I remember distinctly being in the writer's room
- 55:11Speaker 3: with you, and then you pitched the idea of another
- 55:13Speaker 3: agent coming in and her killing him and saying six
- 55:19Speaker 3: out of five was yes, I'm pretty sure.
- 55:26Speaker 2: Or was it that she shot four and then a
- 55:29Speaker 2: fifth person comes in?
- 55:30Speaker 3: No, it's six out of five. And we don't condone
- 55:34Speaker 3: the killing of any one obviously, Okay.
- 55:37Speaker 2: And I actually am now remembering this because I write,
- 55:39Speaker 2: and yes, of course we don't, but I feel like
- 55:42Speaker 2: the it was one of those classics moments where somebody
- 55:45Speaker 2: is arguing like, well, that doesn't make sense, and I
- 55:48Speaker 2: was being like.
- 55:49Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, that's why it's funny.
- 55:53Speaker 3: There was a huge argument because they wanted her to
- 55:55Speaker 3: just push the FBI agents over, and I remember I'd
- 55:58Speaker 3: rarely get out in a writer's room. I remember yelling,
- 56:02Speaker 3: if we don't have a car saleswoman kill five federal agents,
- 56:05Speaker 3: then what are we even doing here?
- 56:07Speaker 4: I remember now, oh my god.
- 56:09Speaker 3: And again, we don't want federal agents killed. It's not funny, no,
- 56:12Speaker 3: but it was just so absurd that this essentially like
- 56:15Speaker 3: a Buick saleswoman becomes the ultimate villain. Yeah, not Buick.
- 56:20Speaker 3: I think we had to name it a different brand.
- 56:22Speaker 3: We wanted Pontiac and then Pontiac we couldn't because of
- 56:25Speaker 3: the copyright.
- 56:25Speaker 2: It ended up being it was something you you said,
- 56:28Speaker 2: because it's like a car that's not made anymore.
- 56:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I wanted Pontiac. I wanted it to be a
- 56:33Speaker 3: Pontiac Firebird or Sunfire or something, but we ended up
- 56:38Speaker 3: calling it like the brand. I think it was like
- 56:39Speaker 3: Saturn or no, not even Saturn. It was Jupiter. Jupiter,
- 56:43Speaker 3: fake car, fake car. But I mean, the thing was fakes.
- 56:48Speaker 3: What are they talking about?
- 56:50Speaker 2: When I watched that episode of Corporate it was really
- 56:51Speaker 2: hard for.
- 56:52Speaker 4: Me to find.
- 56:52Speaker 2: And then I watched it, I thought the whole thing
- 56:55Speaker 2: was real.
- 56:55Speaker 3: I thought it was a documentary.
- 56:57Speaker 4: I literally thought that those people died.
- 56:59Speaker 3: And this woman on the lamb.
- 57:01Speaker 2: I know Halloween's past, but man, I'd like to encourage
- 57:04Speaker 2: anyone out there next Halloween go as those five.
- 57:06Speaker 4: And six agents. Will not that be such a good costume?
- 57:08Speaker 3: Oh my god, the deepest costume.
- 57:11Speaker 4: You would have to explain so much.
- 57:15Speaker 3: There would be a lot. I mean again, listener, more
- 57:17Speaker 3: ears on this podcast. They would just send them this episode.
- 57:20Speaker 2: Yeah, listen to the episode. Listen to this episode of
- 57:22Speaker 2: the podcast. Don't watch the episode.
- 57:26Speaker 3: Okay, now that we've really I've completely derailed the show,
- 57:30Speaker 3: don't apologize I'm saying I'm sorry. I'm not sorry. I
- 57:35Speaker 3: look in the camera lot. Okay, this is how we
- 57:39Speaker 3: play Gift or a Curse. I'm going to name three things.
- 57:41Speaker 3: You're going to tell me if they're a gift or
- 57:42Speaker 3: a curse and why then I'll tell you. Tell you
- 57:45Speaker 3: if you're right or wrong, because there are correct answers. Okay,
- 57:48Speaker 3: you can lose. Oh, and I should remind the listener
- 57:51Speaker 3: that you can now buy the home version of this
- 57:53Speaker 3: at exactly rightstore dot com.
- 57:56Speaker 4: Are coming.
- 57:57Speaker 3: Oh, the holidays are just around the corner, and this
- 58:00Speaker 3: game will start fights. So you want to you know,
- 58:03Speaker 3: you want to ruin Christmas. Get the game. That's all
- 58:06Speaker 3: I'm going to say. Okay, Number one this is from
- 58:10Speaker 3: a listener named Andy. Gift to a curse being the
- 58:13Speaker 3: only man invited to a baby shower.
- 58:17Speaker 2: Okay, this is interesting because I have been the only
- 58:20Speaker 2: woman in a grooms party, which I feel sort of
- 58:23Speaker 2: a similar feeling the only man invited. I assume, gosh,
- 58:32Speaker 2: I and.
- 58:33Speaker 4: I'm getting too in the weeds.
- 58:34Speaker 2: But is it like, are you the only man because
- 58:36Speaker 2: you're a guest of someone there, or are you a
- 58:39Speaker 2: friend who didn't.
- 58:39Speaker 4: Want to be left out?
- 58:41Speaker 3: Mm hmmm.
- 58:45Speaker 2: I'm gonna say just curse because I think it's a
- 58:47Speaker 2: curse to be invited to a baby shower in general,
- 58:50Speaker 2: because you have to get a gift and pretend to
- 58:54Speaker 2: be excited about the baby. And yeah, so I guess
- 58:57Speaker 2: I'm taking out the fact that you're the only man
- 59:00Speaker 2: and just saying in general, curse.
- 59:05Speaker 3: Wrong, it's a gift. We all know what's happening here.
- 59:11Speaker 3: All of the ladies are saying, do we invite the
- 59:14Speaker 3: gay one? Yeah, and of course we do. It is
- 59:18Speaker 3: a horrible thing to have to go to the baby shower,
- 59:21Speaker 3: any shower, it's such a boring event. And then the
- 59:24Speaker 3: ones where that I've actually never been.
- 59:25Speaker 4: To one coming you're saying it's horrible, but.
- 59:28Speaker 3: We love that including or at least release, you know,
- 59:36Speaker 3: just pointing out, Look, here comes Bridger. We all know
- 59:40Speaker 3: why Bridger is invited. He's one of the girls, and
- 59:44Speaker 3: it's an incredible it's just something we all know what's
- 59:47Speaker 3: going on, right, and it's ultimately, you know, it's such
- 59:53Speaker 3: a gift interesting, absolutely no evidence to back up.
- 59:59Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: I guess if I do think back to my experience
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: being a grooms woman, it did give me a certain
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: feeling of like, I guess I'm cool. I guess I'm
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: one of the guys. And that is a nice feeling.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: I guess, yes, it's a nice feeling. It's a nice
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: feeling to sort of, uh get to be. I don't know, fine,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: I lose that.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Round and I think you do lose the round. And
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: I think it gives us a nice little piece of
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: slang to refer to a game man. You know, it's like,
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: you know, he's the only man invited to it. He's
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: the only man invited to.
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: To my baby shower.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: It's code. It's ultimately code cod It's been around for ages,
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: and uh, it's so old fashioned. We all know what's happening.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: Okay, good question.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: When people write in with their suggestions, do they say
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: whether they think it's a gift or a curse?
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Occasionally and I ignore it.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Okay, I just I don't want to answer, like your
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: belief is the.
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: Old Yeah, my knowledge is the ultimate knowledge. What you
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: know is what is fact is backed Yeah. But yeah,
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: when they write in, I think a lot of times
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: they'll write in something that is horrible and they feel
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: the need to be like I do think this is bad. Okay, Okay.
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: Number two, this is from my sister, and she kind
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: of gets priority when she submits things. My sister, Sarah
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: Ashley gift her a curse. People waving you through a
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: four way stop even though they clearly got their first curse.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: Page almost walked off the podcast.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: There is nothing I hate more as a driver than
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: when we are trying to be polite instead of just
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: following the rules, because now you've endangered all of us.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: We are all operating from a set of rules that
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: we know, and no one is a hero for waving
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: someone in like just go when you're supposed to go.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Hesitating and doing the wrong thing is when accidents happen.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: Page wrong. It's a gift, and I'll tell you exactly
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: why it really it is one of the most infuriating
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: things that could possibly happen to a person, and it
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: taught me. I really had to learn a lesson in
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: the past. Just in the past few months. I had
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: to say, I have to stop being so mad at
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: these people, because I was getting to the point I
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: was yelling things like, you've been living there your entire life.
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: You're a naturalized citizens of that stop sign. You could
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: run for president of that stop sign. I was so
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: mad at these people. They had they had been there
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: waving way before me, and I would get furious. I
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: was thinking, why am I who cares? And so I
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: really grew as a person thanks to all these horrible drivers.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: And now get to I'll pull up, they wave me through,
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: and I say, I'll take it. You're bad at driving,
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: and I'm headed on my way. A nice sense of superiority.
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: To you because you get to go a little sooner.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: I get to go a little sooner. And I've evolved
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: as a person. I'm now and evolved.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: So you're saying I'm not evolved.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Exactly in so many words, but I mean it is
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: one of the most maddening.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: It makes me.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: You brought up something that I like talk about all
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: the time because it bothers me so much.
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: Is politeness on the road.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: My neighborhood is littered with four way stops, and so
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: I'm seeing every type of behavior all the time. Yeah,
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: and so I've had to really just come to terms
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: with no one knows how to use a four way stop,
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: but we should. It's very simple.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: It's so simple.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: But for whatever reason, people have decided all of our
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: brains will break down when we pull up to this.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: Everyone thinks, oh, this is my opportunity to show I'm
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: so nice. I just think you're stupid. Actually, oh that's
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: just my opinion.
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: All right, Okay, you've gotten zero so far and doing terrible. Okay.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: This third one is we don't know who it's from.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: It's from the We got some from the Instagram live
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: before the live show, last live show. So my apologies
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: to whoever this is gift or a curse? Someone reciting
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: a poem to you from memory?
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: How long is the poem? Can we talk about that.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: Poems can be any length, could be the odyssey, it
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: could be a haikup, this is.
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: A hard one.
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: I can't say this has happened to me, so I
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: guess except in a school environment where somebody is doing
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: their presentation. I don't know why I said school like that.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: I guess I'm gonna say gift because I think ultimately
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: that's kind of sweet. I think that's cute that somebody
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: loves a poem so much that they memorized it and
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: they want to share it with you.
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: Gift.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: It's a gift, I mean, as you said, what a
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: beautiful thing and sweet, also potentially terrifying. I mean, it
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: can run the gamut of emotional feelings, like the mood
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: can be. If that were whispered to you from somebody
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: behind you in a movie theater, what's happening? If it's
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: a dear friend, you think, oh, they love it and
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: it's just such a beautiful thing. Do you have any
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: poems memorized?
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: I don't think I do, not like a straight up
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: like I have.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: I feel like song lyrics obviously I have, but I
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: don't know that I have any poems summarized.
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: You.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: I think I could probably, like, maybe not verbatim, but
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: I could probably I know, like a kind of weirdly
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: devastating that I really made an impression on me. It's
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: very short. I remember because I follow like an Instagram
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: account that like posts sold poems. Yeah, I can't remember
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: the name of it, but they should I try.
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: I think you should absolutely try.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: It's kind of a devastating if I remember correctly.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: That is my If we're not writing a devastating poem,
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: what are we doing?
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: It's a story sort of question d a riddle or
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: a joke.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: Art is supposed to hurt your feelings in my opinion.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: Okay, I'm gonna try this. It was from like a
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: it was from like a Japanese poet in like the
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: eleven hundreds or something, I don't know, like a very
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: old thing. But obviously this wouldn't be the Japanese. Okay,
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: everyone forgive me. I'm trying to access my memory to
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: show off I'm not looking at and also everybody prepared
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: to be devastated, and I'm gonna I'm gonna do this
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: as dramatically or as beautifully as I cry. We might
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: all cry. This might touch something for all of us. Okay,
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: it goes A thousand years you said, as our hearts melted,
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: I look at the hand you held, and the ache
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: is too much to bear. I think that's it on
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: Ali's can you try googling that?
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: So I've got a thousand years said, let's break it down.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: It's a. It's a tough one. It's a. It's a
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: to me. Yeah, it's some sort of loss, you know,
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: either through death or through someone leaving someone. Yeah, I
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: don't at least how close? Was that?
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Very close?
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: A thousand years you said, as our two hearts melted,
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: I took it. I look at the hand you held,
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: and the ache is too hard to bear.
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: Oh what did I miss? I think it might have
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: been just some light phrasing difference. Yes at the end.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: Wow, good for me.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: Yes, Oh it was actually the eighth century.
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: That's whitch.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: Oh I'm an absolute fraud. The fact that I have
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: recalled anything for my brain, this is a first for
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: the podcast for me to remember something.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: That was really good. I don't remember anything.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: Isn't that a sad poem?
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: That's really sad?
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: Just the line I look at the hand you held.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: Even just the first line, A thousand years you said, yeah,
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: you know you said, oh, basically you said forever.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: You know, heart wrenching, and here we are. So it's
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: nice to know that people in the eighth century were
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: also kind of just doing these We all have emotional
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: yeah lost it always it comes for all of us.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: And then only a few of us choose to write
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: a poem that bridget Wineger remembers centuries later beautiful. That
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: person really made an impression on me. Do we know
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: who wrote it? Thank you for sharing Internet.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: I was gonna say, I was literally gonna say, I
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: was like, probably anything I could come up with is
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: maybe like a Shell Silverstein like, but I feel like
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: I can only remember the names of the books.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: I hope I'm not butchering this.
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: But Lady Higory, Oh, Lady Higary.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: Hickory, hgg you r I in English?
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: Good for her?
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I know that we're like coming to the
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: end of the podcast. But have I ever told you
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: my Shell Silverstein story.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: No.
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: When I was in fifth.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Grade, we wrote to our favorite author and sometimes we
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: would get a letter back, and if we did, the
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: teacher would like read it out loud, and we got
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: a letter back from Shell silver Scene and my teacher
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: did not like pre read it. He like opened it
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: and was reading it and it literally was to a
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: classroom full of fifth graders and it said something like,
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: dear page, thank you so much for your kind letter.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: Unfortunately Shell passed away last year. Oh and he read
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: that out loud and it like all that's how everyone
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: in mike fifth grade class found out that Shell Silverstein died.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: What was the reaction.
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: I feel like it.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: Was just like he like stopped reading the letter and
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: we like read the book we were reading out loud
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: that day or something like we moved on.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: The teacher must have been learning in that moment.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: He must have. Yeah, because we all thought we got
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: a letter from Shell.
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: It was brutal to hear.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: I don't know exactly how it affected me psychologically, but
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: it definitely did.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: Wow, what a.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: You'll always remember, Yeah, that Shel Silverstein is dead.
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: You'll never forget.
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: I absolutely remember.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: Like so many people forget. Well, you got one out
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: of three. That's not a bad and we got a
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: poem out of it. I feel good about that. Oh. Yes,
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: and we have a new segment of the podcast. This
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: is just the second time we're doing it. This is
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: Onalise's gift or a curse, and Onalise is the only
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: truly subjective or objective source of information on in the
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: backyard right now. And so they're going to give us
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: one more gift or a curse, and we're both going
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: to answer.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: Okay, okay, gift you a curse.
- 1:10:36Speaker 6: Voice notes on dating apps, oh oh to.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: Me, gift because of the fact that the minute I
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: hear it, most of the time, I'm like, oh no, thanks, no,
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: it's bad, but I appreciate knowing what someone's voice sounds
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: like and if they're annoying.
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: Gift.
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: Okay, I'm going to really give this some thought. I
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: haven't been on a dating app in a while. I'm
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: trying to put myself in the place of someone who
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: is not only just opened a dating app there tired
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: of dating, They've filled out their interests and now there's
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: a record button for them to record. Is it just
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: as much as you want to record? Yeah, okay, gift,
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: here is the big opportunity to publish your audio book.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: Everybody else has passed, and you thought that if things
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: were over, you were going to move, you were going
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: to move back home, fall back on your other job.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: And now you have hundreds of hours of recording time
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: to hit that little red button and get going, and
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: you've got an eager audience ready to listen. It's a gift.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: Everybody should have to record a voice note on every app. Okay,
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: on at least what do you think it's a gift.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: You're calibrated well on this podcast. I have to go
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: meet somebody in the flesh, and I have to get
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: in my car and drive however many minutes to meet them.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: I want to understand that there are at least a
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: few chemistry markers that we have checked off, and if
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: I can hear their voice and make sure that it
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: doesn't sound awful, that is a gift.
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: Absolutely, that is a gift.
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: And also it does help a situation like if you're saying,
- 1:12:32Speaker 6: if you send one and somebody's like put off by that,
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: then you know, oh, this person has something to hide.
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: I have nothing to hide.
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: I'm going to send this. They're going to hear my voice. Right, Clearly,
- 1:12:43Speaker 6: they have something to hide.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Now, I know not to engage.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: And what kind of things are people saying?
- 1:12:48Speaker 6: I mean, most of it's on hinge, so it's usually
- 1:12:51Speaker 6: on their profile and people can like for me example,
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: I shared the last time I think was the last
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: time I cried, and it was listening to the How
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: to Train Your Dragon soundtracks have perfect played. I played
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: a clip of the soundtrack O dream Works is Coming
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: for You, Yes, exactly. Well it was the reason I'm
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: not playing it on the podcast. But yeah, it's like
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: it gives you a chance to like showcase a little personality.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: As you said, an audiobook can never hurt. Yeah, it's
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: like not just can I hear if your voice is
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: strange in some way, so I'm not visibly surprised in
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: real life. But also, like you know, it's just so
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: much easier to get a sense of someone's sort of
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: vibe and energy from their voice, yes, and how they
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: actually talk right, as opposed to you know, some people
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: have a hard time writing a thing A thing.
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I will say just any element of
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: a dating app is a nightmare.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: Oh it's it's embarrassing no matter what, and it's yeah bad.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: But I think when I have seen a voice note,
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: I'm grateful for it. I personally do not have one
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: on any of my profiles. But you could sing a song,
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: I could sing a song. I'm giving you a beautiful
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: poem to tell your Shell Silverstein story.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: Or just say Shell Silverstein is dead. Nice quick a.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: Fun fact about me, Shell Silverstein is dead.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: The men will be lighting up, very funny. You will
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: have so many dates. All right. This is the final
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: segment of the podcast. It's called I Said No emails.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: People write into I Said No gifts at gmail dot
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: com begging for answers. We hope me answer a question
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: I would love to. Okay, let's see here. Okay, this
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: is dear Bridger and sparkling guests. That's a nice little
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: thing about you. The Christmas gifts at my family's annual
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: gathering have simply gotten out of control. My husband and
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: I have two kids under ten who are the only
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: kids in the family. In the past, we've tried to
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: institute a rule with my parents, brother and sister in
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: law to not buy any presents for the adults and
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: only buy for the kids if they want to. Okay,
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: and I'm just gonna stop right now. I see already
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: two other things in parentheses or three. There's gonna be
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: a lot of following here.
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: I'm creating a family tree in my mind.
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: Yes, I mean, we all have to Okay, However, the
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: gift rules have evolved from no adult gifts parentheses never happened, okay,
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: to one or two nominal things for the grown ups
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: parentheses also never happened, to a dozen often higher value
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: items per adult parentheses always happens. So what does this
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: mean We're always giving everybody a lot of expensive items?
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: Is that clear that these parentheses are not helping me?
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: I want the.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: Writer to know I'm completely throwing me okay, But basically,
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: I guess what we're to understand is it used to
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: be only gifts for the kids, and now it's gotten
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: out of control where people are buying for the adults.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: Right. Yet everyone continues to say, let's not do this. Yeah, okay.
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: This in addition to the mountain of gifts the kids get,
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: which is honestly way too much. We've tried again and
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: again to get our family to not buy us anything,
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: but it never seems to work. On top of this,
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: we feel the pressure to buy them gifts since they
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: are getting us lots of things in addition to spoiling
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: our kids. Please help us de escalate this mutually assured
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: destruction in form of rampant holiday consumerism. Thanks, and that's
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: from Riz. Okay, so I again barely followed what was
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: happening there. But basically, what what she is looking to
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: do is not have as many gifts be given.
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: Yeah, am I correct? I think so?
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: And I guess it seems like a semi large family.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: No, it's very small. I mean well, I mean actually,
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: whenever I say it's a small family that's coming from
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: a Mormon background.
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: As an only child who just goes to her parents for.
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: Christmas, a lot of people, but I think this is
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: a normal It's a husband, her two kids, parents, brother
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: and sister in law.
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's their kids.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Entially, they're only two children involved here.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: Gosh, I mean maybe is a secret Sannah in order?
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: You know, so I guarantee that each adult only gets
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: one gift, right, right? Because I imagine it's like, if
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: you're only getting one gift for each person, then that
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: still means each person has multiple gifts, right, And that's
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: how it starts to get out of hand. But if
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: if we still want everyone to get a gift, we
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: just assign, right, the kids should get a bunch of gifts.
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: Get them a few things money there, get them freaks
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: I love it, get them something.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: The Christmas morning. Get on Christmas morning. It's an expression
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: they'll take as much as they can get.
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like that works. I feel like another strategy,
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: if she wants to be a little bit more subtle,
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: is get an expired like credit card, put it in
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: her wallet and then say I want to take everyone
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: out to dinner, and then she you know, goes to
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: pay and it gets declined obviously it's expired. And now
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: everyone's like, oh, something's going on with Rizz's financial situation.
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: Maybe we shouldn't do gifts this year, And now the
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: problem is solved trickery making hints about right, it's gone
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: too far, it's financially I'm ruined.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yeah, which it is, well, there is, Sorry,
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: I'm just thinking about it. Is like it it's vulnerable
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: to say like, can we do less gifts, because then
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: inherently everyone's gonna be like, right, of course they don't
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: have any money, like what is everything okay? Like, but
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: I also feel like, honestly, every uh, every Christmas where
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: someone has been the one to be like, let's not
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: do a bunch of gifts, we still get like a
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: couple things each, right, and it's nice, But I think
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: even just like putting out the vibe of like can
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: we not do a ton this year? Does tamp that
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: down a little bit, right, And personally, I think most
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: people would be relieved.
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: Right, I guess I'd an anonymous email, so nobody knows
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: who's having a financial problem.
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: Yeah, just go full Grinch just fully like.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: Christmas start now.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: Okay, Well we answered Rizz's question perfectly. Riz don't write
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: back in please, oh page I'm I mean, what a
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: gift you've given me. This is a top ten top
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: ten gifts. Certainly I'm going to cherish it forever.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: I'm so glad and thank you to Natasha for her professionalism,
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: seriously dedication to the craft.
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: And I also have this beautiful thing to listen to. Yeah,
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: your new album, which I'm so excited about because you
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: are terrific.
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: Thank you so much.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: And everyone should go listen to it in whatever way
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: they want, for.
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: Somebody if you don't want to.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: But it's a beautiful green, beautiful piece of green, but
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: in an edition. Well, thank you for being here, thank
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: you for having me listener. The podcast is over. I
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: know you know that you thought it was gonna this
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: was gonna be the one that went on forever, but
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: that'll be a different episode. Eventually, we will get to
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: the point when it doesn't we don't stop recording, and
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: then you'll be trapped and you have to watch what
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: you wish for, because that will become your own little
