- 0:05SPEAKER_03: Salaam alaykum warahmatullahi, but I can't shaq was silly and really wah let him have al Kogi.
- 0:18SPEAKER_03: Everyone can hear me fine?
- 0:19SPEAKER_03: We're good?
- 0:20SPEAKER_03: Srila.
- 0:21SPEAKER_03: So thank you so much for coming, first and foremost.
- 0:25SPEAKER_03: This is uh I believe my first time in Bradford.
- 0:27SPEAKER_03: I've been to England before.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: Uh but Manchester, specifically uh Bradford, this is my first, and uh mashallah.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: I mean, what an incredible community.
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: Just uh it's been so humbling, everybody's been so hospitable, mashallah.
- 0:42SPEAKER_03: I'm still adjusting to the accent.
- 0:45SPEAKER_03: It's uh forgive us, you know, us Americans, we're we tend to be a bit, you know, we speak with a sort of uh we're quite blunt and boring as compared to the British or English accent, so I'm gonna do my best here.
- 0:59SPEAKER_03: But I I guess I'm here today uh to tell you something special, you know, that um you know, fire has never burned anything.
- 1:10SPEAKER_03: Not once.
- 1:11SPEAKER_03: Medicine has never healed anything, knives never cut, not once, not in the entire universe.
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: And inshallah, by the end of today's talk, Bidnillah you're all gonna agree with me.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: Okay, so let's go.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he says in the Holy Quran, he says, Holy kal insannu ba'ifa, that this insan was created weak.
- 1:37SPEAKER_03: But this weakness, it's not a flaw in the design, it is the design in and of itself.
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: So Allah tells us we're created weak, and naturally, if you're weak, you have what?
- 1:52SPEAKER_03: You have certain needs, and you're gonna want to fulfill those needs.
- 1:58SPEAKER_03: Now notice Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala also says in the Quran, Ya ayyuhannas.
- 2:03SPEAKER_03: He's not talking to Muslims, he's not talking to believers, he's talking to humanity at large.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: He's saying, Ya ayyuhannas and tumultu ilallah.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: Oh people, you are the poverty.
- 2:18SPEAKER_03: Now, the word faqir, for those with the basic command of Arabic language, might think that faqir is the poor person.
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: But no, faqir in the Arabic language here means the needy one, the one with needs.
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: And the deer and the proof of that is if you continue the ayah, Allah says, Wallahu, hu al-haniulhamid.
- 2:40SPEAKER_03: And Allah is the ghane.
- 2:42SPEAKER_03: He is the one without any type of need.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: But like I said, this need is not an actual flaw, but you were designed in that way intentionally.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: In fact, I would argue that this neediness makes us God's greatest creation ever.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Because if you compare us to angels, angels don't have all these needs.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: They have no need to sleep, they have no need to eat, they have no need to drink, for example, they don't get sick.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: So they cannot experience God in all of his attributes and names.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: For example, if they're not getting sick, how would they properly experience a Shafi?
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: The healer.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: Just think about it.
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: Okay, they don't sin.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: Angels don't sin.
- 3:33SPEAKER_03: How would they experience the name of Allah?
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: Al-Hafur.
- 3:38SPEAKER_03: So this is why Allah was telling the angels, He taught Adam all of the names.
- 3:47SPEAKER_03: The angels themselves, Ya Allah, you're gonna put on this earth.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: He says, I know what you don't.
- 4:04SPEAKER_03: And he taught Adam the full name, so we have the ability to experience a true proper manifestation for all of God's names and attributes.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: That's what makes this insan so avaem, so great in the sight of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
- 4:19SPEAKER_03: And then so Allah says, Okay, so I am faqir, I am weak, I have needs, so I'm gonna want to fulfill those needs, and naturally, because I want to fulfill those needs, I'm gonna look outward into the world.
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: And the moment you look outward, the moment you focus on the outside world, the magic show begins.
- 4:55SPEAKER_03: But most people get caught up in the performance and they miss out on the magic trick.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: The test is not in the magic, the test is in figuring out the magic trick.
- 5:08SPEAKER_03: What are you talking about, Usama?
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: Well, in Surah Tul Insan, the chapter of the human being, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, Allah's talking about the creation of the human being.
- 5:33SPEAKER_03: I won't get into the details of the tafsir.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: Let's focus on the portion that we want here.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: I created this human being to try him, to test him.
- 5:43SPEAKER_03: Now, oh Allah, what is the platform of that test?
- 5:48SPEAKER_03: We gave them the ability to perceive, the ability to hear and see.
- 5:54SPEAKER_03: So the test is in perception.
- 5:58SPEAKER_03: And now we know what you see is not what's really out there.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: You're not getting a true version of reality.
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: A deep dive into quantum physics or quantum mechanics teaches you that you create your own reality simply by the act of observation itself.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: And what you are actually getting is not reality, but a filtered down version of reality.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: You are getting a projection.
- 6:25SPEAKER_03: We are in God's divine matrix, we are in a simulation.
- 6:30SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 6:31SPEAKER_03: Because this world is a test.
- 6:32SPEAKER_03: How do we know?
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: Allah says in Surah Tilgah, inna jaanna, ma'a alan arti, zinatan ah.
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: You will not find this tafsir in the modern tafsir.
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: It's my take on it.
- 6:45SPEAKER_03: You can call me out on it if you want.
- 6:47SPEAKER_03: But it made total sense to me.
- 6:49SPEAKER_03: Zina in the Arabic language, Allah says we've made everything ma'ah, not mend, mendil ati.
- 6:55SPEAKER_03: But this is everything, all objects, everything we've created, ma'ad al-arti zina.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: What is the meaning of zina in the Arabic language?
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: In the tafsir will say adorment, as adorments, to beautify things.
- 7:06SPEAKER_03: Robert argued that a man might beautify himself for his spouse, and likewise a woman may beautify herself for her spouse by maybe putting what on?
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: Some makeup.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: And one of the your favorite makeups, ladies says, I, you know, cover up, right?
- 7:24SPEAKER_03: What does cover up do?
- 7:25SPEAKER_03: It hides the what?
- 7:27SPEAKER_03: The blemishes, the flaws.
- 7:29SPEAKER_03: If you want to get the real unfiltered version, maybe first thing in the morning, guys, right?
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: Side topic, but naturally you're doing some type of cover-up, and that's what zina is.
- 7:41SPEAKER_03: Zina is a type of filter attached to the things you see.
- 7:45SPEAKER_03: You are not getting a true version of reality, but a filtered version.
- 7:49SPEAKER_03: When do you start to see things closer to how they truly are?
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: Fakka shafna anka vita akah at the time of death.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: Allah says, and now we remove from you your cover.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: Fabasaru qaliyaw mah hadith.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: Now your vision is what?
- 8:06SPEAKER_03: Allah doesn't say, although in the tafsir, the meaning of hadith here is from hiddah.
- 8:12SPEAKER_03: Hiddah in the Arabic language means your vision becomes very sharp.
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: Meaning you could see now what you can't see before, but the Quran is very interesting.
- 8:21SPEAKER_03: It actually used the word for iron.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: And iron is the only element that never existed on earth.
- 8:26SPEAKER_03: It requires a very, very high temperatures to exist.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: So it was brought down by what?
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: Supernovas that exploded, brought down by comets onto earth.
- 8:36SPEAKER_03: And Allah says, What's the proof in the Quran?
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: He says, Wa enzanna al-Hadith.
- 8:41SPEAKER_03: When he talks about iron, he says, I brought down iron.
- 8:44SPEAKER_03: So is iron from this world or out of this world?
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: Out of this world.
- 8:47SPEAKER_03: So it's like Allah saying, now you will see things that are outside of this world.
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: Now you go from Alam al-munq to ala and malakut.
- 8:56SPEAKER_03: You begin to see things that you couldn't see before.
- 8:59SPEAKER_03: So Allah is telling us, Fajal Na Usameen al-Basira, the test is in perception itself.
- 9:07SPEAKER_03: You are getting a filtered-down version of reality.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: Okay, why is that significant?
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: The kalimah of tawheed is actually not just a kalimah, it's a surgical procedure.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: Because if you examine the kalima, there's something fascinating about it.
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: It's non-dualistic.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: It doesn't begin with affirmation.
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: What does it begin with?
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: Negation.
- 9:40SPEAKER_03: Ashadu?
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: When someone becomes Muslim, what do you say?
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: Say, brother, please repeat after.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: Take its hand, mashaAllah.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: Say ashadu.
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: And when does that mean in Arabic?
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: Ashadu.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: I bear?
- 9:50SPEAKER_03: Witness.
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: Witness.
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: And someone that is witnessing something, can you witness without perceiving?
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: So Allah says, Alimul Raibi Washahada.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: You could truly sense an artist's hand when you hold it, mashaAllah.
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: It says, Aali mul Raibi, Allah is the knower of the seen, perceivable.
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: Sorry, the unseen, ray, washahadah.
- 10:11SPEAKER_03: The opposite of ray is what you perceive.
- 10:14SPEAKER_03: So it's as if Allah is saying, not as if, but he's saying, Ashadu and la ilaha.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: Whatever you perceive with the senses that I've given you, these eyes, these ears, smelling, hearing, tasting, touching.
- 10:33SPEAKER_03: It's not happening from there.
- 10:37SPEAKER_03: Illallah.
- 10:39SPEAKER_03: It is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that is doing.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: It is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that is acting.
- 10:53SPEAKER_03: The act belongs to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala Himself.
- 10:58SPEAKER_03: So it's an actual surgical procedure letting you know as you look out to the world, because you want to fulfill these needs that you have, and you begin to see the play of cause and effect.
- 11:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, rain?
- 11:15SPEAKER_03: So winds have to blow, blow, and then the clouds begin to form, and then rain comes down and vegetation grows.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: The play of cause and effect.
- 11:26SPEAKER_03: But who's familiar with Pavlov's dog, the experiment?
- 11:30SPEAKER_03: Scientific experiment.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah?
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: Beautiful experiment where Pavlov pretty much proved classical conditioning.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: Brought a dog and said, okay, typically if you put food in front of a dog, dog salivates and eats the food.
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: So he said, Let me, I want to try this experiment.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: He brings a bell.
- 11:47SPEAKER_03: And so he rings the bell, then puts the food in front of the dog, the dog salivates, eats, repeats this process a few times, and then eventually one day he rings the bell but doesn't place any food in front of the dog.
- 12:01SPEAKER_03: What happens to the dog?
- 12:03SPEAKER_03: The dog salivates.
- 12:04SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: Condition.
- 12:07SPEAKER_03: This is called classical condition.
- 12:08SPEAKER_03: He associated.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: Pay close attention.
- 12:12SPEAKER_03: I'm very, you know, particular with my choice of words here.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: He associated.
- 12:17SPEAKER_03: Because as believers, do we associate anything with Allah?
- 12:21SPEAKER_03: We worship Allah and we don't associate any partners.
- 12:25SPEAKER_03: Partners are not just idols that you may prostrate towards.
- 12:28SPEAKER_03: But your belief that money can benefit or harm.
- 12:31SPEAKER_03: Your belief that medicine cures, although Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, So what's the point of medicine for the believers?
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: To test your faith.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: Do we leave medicine behind?
- 12:44SPEAKER_03: Absolutely not.
- 12:44SPEAKER_03: Because Ibn Kayim says, leaving the worldly needs.
- 12:49SPEAKER_03: It's like if you if you deny worldly needs, that's blasphemy.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: Because Allah created them.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: We are not denying them and we are not leaving them, because leaving them is ta'filul hikmah.
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: Allah has a hikmah.
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: The doctor needs to earn a living.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: If everybody just made dua and were cured, doctors would be in trouble.
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: There's a system, the divine matrix has to work.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: But there's an order in which you go about things.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: The believer, your ila is the one your heart first turns to in the time of need.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: Not who you claim with your tongue.
- 13:25SPEAKER_03: My wife, my kids get sick, and my wife calls me, Saama, yes, we ran out of time and all.
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: Did you pray two raqahs?
- 13:33SPEAKER_03: Did you ask Allah?
- 13:35SPEAKER_03: Did you give sadaqa?
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: Did you make dua?
- 13:38SPEAKER_03: Check, check, check, check.
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go buy medicine now.
- 13:41SPEAKER_03: There's an order about which we go about things.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: So we don't leave, bin Qayin, he says, terkul esbabi rahbaniya.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: Leaving it is monastic in nature, it's like, you know, the way of the monks, and that we don't do this, we don't turn our backs to dunya.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: In fact, we engage dunya fully, but our hearts remain with Allah Fali ⁇ Maqsadul ikrajul ma' juyub.
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: The point is not to remove money from people's pockets.
- 14:09SPEAKER_03: The point is to remove money from people's hearts.
- 14:12SPEAKER_03: I would even argue that the true enlightened person in at some point in their lives they might have a point where they're like they feel like they have this, they go through this phase where they're against materialistic things and they might denounce the world and leave their jobs and focus on worship.
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: But eventually the true enlightened person goes back to materialistic things.
- 14:33SPEAKER_03: Because he's not scared of it.
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: The point is not not to worship it.
- 14:38SPEAKER_03: We don't fear it.
- 14:40SPEAKER_03: We don't worship it.
- 14:42SPEAKER_03: And how do you know you worship it?
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: You break God's command for it.
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: And Allah will test you from time to time.
- 14:49SPEAKER_03: He'll put you in a situation where here's my command and here's the worldly needs.
- 14:53SPEAKER_03: Are you gonna consume the money although it has interest associated with it just because it's more?
- 14:58SPEAKER_03: But I tell you, don't come close to interest.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but then how am I gonna, you know, I gotta put food on the table?
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so who's al-Razakh?
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: That's because we haven't understood or read the Quran like it needs to be understood.
- 15:12SPEAKER_03: This is what brings me to the next part.
- 15:14SPEAKER_03: The first verses, I put a lot of thought into this recently, subhanAllah, Allah sent me my khidr.
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: I just performed hajj this year, alhamdulillah.
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: And Allah sent me a person.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: I never shared this with a lot of people, but he sent me someone during this trip and I considered him my khidr.
- 15:33SPEAKER_03: Someone so knowledgeable, so humble, outside, you know, doesn't like the cameras, doesn't like to be filmed nowhere online on social media.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: And I sat with him and I and he recognized me and I recognized him.
- 15:47SPEAKER_03: And he said, I have something for you.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: We never, it was the first time ever meeting.
- 15:52SPEAKER_03: And then we discussed the verses, and and it hit me the moment, it just didn't take a lot, but we were discussing the first verses to be revealed on Prophet Muhammad were what?
- 16:05SPEAKER_03: You're in Bradford's literature festival.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: I think reading is quite important.
- 16:10SPEAKER_03: The Prophet was unlettered.
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: That wasn't a flaw or naqs or any type of when the Prophet, typically you read because you want to gain knowledge.
- 16:20SPEAKER_03: The Prophet was fully taught by the one with all knowledge, didn't have a need to read.
- 16:26SPEAKER_03: But he was unlettered, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
- 16:28SPEAKER_03: So why does the angel say ikqra?
- 16:31SPEAKER_03: Read.
- 16:33SPEAKER_03: Continue, finish the verse.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: And then it hit me.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: Allah saying, read in the name of your Lord.
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: Lord is Rab.
- 16:49SPEAKER_03: Rabda is your caretaker.
- 16:52SPEAKER_03: You have needs.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: Allah wants to, is going to fulfill those needs, and those needs are actually homing devices installed intentionally in every one.
- 17:04SPEAKER_03: Hunger is a homing device for God's name, Al-Raza.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: Sickness is a homing device for God's name, as Shafi.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: So they're supposed to draw you to God's names.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: Now Allah's saying, read in the name of your Lord.
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: What are the names of Allah?
- 17:22SPEAKER_03: How many names does Allah have?
- 17:24SPEAKER_03: How many?
- 17:29SPEAKER_03: Most of us think 99, right?
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: General knowledge, true.
- 17:33SPEAKER_03: Infinite.
- 17:37SPEAKER_03: It's one of God's names.
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: Not the word breath.
- 17:43SPEAKER_03: Your actual breathing.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: Your infinite names.
- 17:47SPEAKER_03: But Allah is saying, read in the name of thy Lord who created.
- 17:55SPEAKER_03: Because when Allah talks about creation in the womb of the mother, he talks about khalkham mimbadi khalk, faqalatna la alaqata mudra, fa laqna al-mudrata idama, faqasalna.
- 18:09SPEAKER_03: As the embryos going from one form to another, Allah's using the word khalq.
- 18:17SPEAKER_03: One creation after another.
- 18:19SPEAKER_03: And then in another verse, Allah says, To him belongs khalqh, creation, and the command.
- 18:30SPEAKER_03: What is the command here?
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: What do you think the command is?
- 18:34SPEAKER_03: Umrullah in Arabic.
- 18:37SPEAKER_03: What is Amrullah?
- 18:39SPEAKER_03: Who knows?
- 18:41SPEAKER_03: What is God's command?
- 18:43SPEAKER_03: I'll give you a hint.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: Nomenclature, soul, spirit, depends on what you mean, but it's soul.
- 18:59SPEAKER_03: They ask you about the ruha.
- 19:00SPEAKER_03: Tell them, O Muhammad, tell them it is from the command of my run.
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: Do you know what Ruh is in English?
- 19:09SPEAKER_03: In modern nomenclature?
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: Who knows?
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: One of my favorite speakers here in England, I don't think he's a bad friend, Rupert Spira.
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: He's a non-dualist.
- 19:19SPEAKER_03: What does he, what does he term?
- 19:22SPEAKER_03: What is Ruha?
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: Consciousness.
- 19:28SPEAKER_03: What's prior?
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: What comes first?
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: Matter or consciousness?
- 19:33SPEAKER_03: Consciousness.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: Have you ever is there anything you're unconscious of?
- 19:38SPEAKER_03: Even in deep sleep.
- 19:40SPEAKER_03: You come out and say, there was nothing.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: It says, what knew there was nothing?
- 19:47SPEAKER_03: You had a feeling that there was nothing.
- 19:50SPEAKER_03: Consciousness recognizing itself.
- 19:52SPEAKER_03: Amrullah is consciousness.
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: Can you have anything without consciousness?
- 19:56SPEAKER_03: That's the projector.
- 19:58SPEAKER_03: Most people are busy looking at the screen.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: And they see all these different words, forms, shapes.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: But if you go and you touch the screen, what is there?
- 20:07SPEAKER_03: You don't find, if you're watching Mission Impossible, you don't grab Tom Cruise and take him out of the TV screen.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: What do you find?
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: One indivisible screen taking on the shape and the forms.
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: Imagery, pixels, changing colors.
- 20:22SPEAKER_03: But if you were to, right now, if I were to block the projector, the light that is coming, what would remain?
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: Nothing.
- 20:30SPEAKER_03: And what is Allah?
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: Allahu Murusama waati wa ar.
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth.
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: The secret is in ruh.
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: Consciousness.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: So Allah is telling you, ikhra bisini rabbi kaladi khalak.
- 20:45SPEAKER_03: Then he says, to him belongs halq, form.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: Walamr and the command consciousness.
- 20:58SPEAKER_03: Form fails consciousness.
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: In a sense.
- 21:04SPEAKER_03: We don't see ruh.
- 21:06SPEAKER_03: We see form.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: And we got caught up by the magic shell.
- 21:11SPEAKER_03: And that's why when you look out in the world and you begin to believe in cause and effect, although in reality, if you take out a pen and you have a piece of paper, you know, just the contingency argument to prove the existence of God, right?
- 21:27SPEAKER_03: If A depends on B, and B depends on C, and C depends on D, and you keep going, and you look at it just from a mathematical point of view, A over B times B over C, what crosses out?
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: The B's, and you're left with A over C.
- 21:46SPEAKER_03: What does that tell you?
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: That means as long as something is dependent on something else, it is not the true cause.
- 21:52SPEAKER_03: But then if you keep going infinite regression forever, you have to have the unmoved mover, that is God.
- 22:02SPEAKER_03: So Allah says, if we go back to this, he says, Alalahul Khalkulla'am, why is this important?
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: Because Allah's talking about khalq.
- 22:12SPEAKER_03: But he's saying read.
- 22:15SPEAKER_03: So form and all the signs and everything you see in the universe, if he's telling you to read his khalq, khalq is his what?
- 22:22SPEAKER_03: His handwriting.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: So he's not telling you to read a book.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: The book is the universe.
- 22:30SPEAKER_03: He's telling you to read the universe.
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: Read the world.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: But you have to put on, you have to have ikra, bismi rabbika.
- 22:40SPEAKER_03: Here it's a mode of perception.
- 22:43SPEAKER_03: How you perceive the world.
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: Bismirabika.
- 22:47SPEAKER_03: Now when the nur of iman, the light of true traheed, enters into the heart, this is why you'll never find the word light mentioned in the plural form in the Quran.
- 23:00SPEAKER_03: There's no anwar, it's always nur.
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: But darkness is always mentioned.
- 23:05SPEAKER_03: You'll find it mentioned both in the singular and the plural.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: Because when the light, light enters into the heart of the believer, it pierces through the veils of multiplicity and gets to the one behind the many.
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: If I give you a book written in Chinese, brother, and I ask you to read it, would you be able to read it?
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: No, unless you speak Chinese and I chose the wrong person.
- 23:32SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: You can't.
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: What would you tell me if I told you to describe what you see?
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: What would you see?
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: Tell me.
- 23:41SPEAKER_03: But now I give you a book in English and I ask you to read.
- 23:45SPEAKER_03: You would go beyond the words to the meaning behind them, right?
- 23:50SPEAKER_03: In fact, I would say that sometimes if you're reading a novel or a book, what happens?
- 23:55SPEAKER_03: You begin to think, what's the author getting at?
- 23:59SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: Like, I think this might happen in chapter two.
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: You begin to really get things.
- 24:06SPEAKER_03: Because you speak the language.
- 24:08SPEAKER_03: So what's the language of God?
- 24:11SPEAKER_03: His names, the light through his names, he's saying, read in the name of thy Lord who created.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: So we're like, okay.
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: I would say, memorize this.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: And I'll explain.
- 24:35SPEAKER_03: First one is read in the name of thy Lord who created.
- 24:39SPEAKER_03: Learn to see with your eyes properly.
- 24:43SPEAKER_03: But you're not seeing with sight, you're now seeing with insight.
- 24:48SPEAKER_03: You're not seeing with basar, you're now seeing with basiya.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: So you're you're not distracted or caught up by the events, you understand what the author is getting at.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: And who's the author of the universe?
- 25:03SPEAKER_03: Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
- 25:05SPEAKER_03: So this play of cause and effect is a type of trick, but the believer now is able through a proper understanding of tawheed to pierce through these veils and understand that they're just a show.
- 25:19SPEAKER_03: The sun does not give light.
- 25:22SPEAKER_03: Allah is the one who provides light.
- 25:25SPEAKER_03: The sun is a veil for that fact.
- 25:30SPEAKER_03: It's just a show.
- 25:33SPEAKER_03: It's a meaningful one and it needs to appear that way.
- 25:37SPEAKER_03: But it's something you negate with your heart, saying, No, Allah is the one that provides.
- 25:41SPEAKER_03: When you get thirsty, no, Allah is the one that quenches thirst.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: I'll drink water, but it is Allah, it is his command in water that quenches thirst.
- 25:49SPEAKER_03: If I come to my brother and say, right now the angel of death just came in here and he took.
- 25:53SPEAKER_03: Can you see me?
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: Can you hear me?
- 25:56SPEAKER_03: Can you speak?
- 25:57SPEAKER_03: Can you move?
- 25:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah?
- 25:58SPEAKER_03: But if the angel of death comes and takes his soul, same hands are there, can they move?
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: No, same legs, can they move?
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: Same ears can they hear?
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: Same eyes can they see?
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: Same tongue can it speak?
- 26:12SPEAKER_03: What was removed from you?
- 26:14SPEAKER_03: God's command.
- 26:15SPEAKER_03: Which is God's command.
- 26:17SPEAKER_03: So when God's commands remove from you, can the eye see?
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: So in reality, when God's commands in you, can the eye see?
- 26:22SPEAKER_03: So you see with what?
- 26:23SPEAKER_03: With God's command?
- 26:25SPEAKER_03: And you hear through God's command?
- 26:27SPEAKER_03: And you think through God's command?
- 26:30SPEAKER_03: Consciousness.
- 26:35SPEAKER_03: This is called ta'armuff.
- 26:38SPEAKER_03: Getting to know Allah through His names.
- 26:43SPEAKER_03: And He placed these needs in you because they're, like I said, homing devices.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: When you're kind of like trying to vocate gold or they're homing devices.
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: Intentionally created this way.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: And then the second part of the verse, this is fascinating.
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: This is Allah says, khalak al-insan amina alak.
- 27:08SPEAKER_03: He created insan from alak.
- 27:11SPEAKER_03: You know what alak is?
- 27:14SPEAKER_03: The leech-like form in the womb, what does a leech do?
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: Claims.
- 27:21SPEAKER_03: Attachment.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: So khalak al-insan, now it's no coincidence.
- 27:28SPEAKER_03: There's an Arabic word called ta'alakah.
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: To become attached to.
- 27:35SPEAKER_03: So your origin story, whoever tells you the human being is not supposed to be attached to anything, it is wrong.
- 27:44SPEAKER_03: You're just you by nature, your origin story is attachment.
- 27:47SPEAKER_03: We just you're just attaching to the wrong thing.
- 27:51SPEAKER_03: Because you're seeing the power, the sort of illusionary power of worldly means, money, power, status, connections, you begin to believe in these things.
- 28:05SPEAKER_03: To the point where you might even sell your soul to gain these things.
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: Because you see their effect, because now you're attached to them because you saw their effect.
- 28:15SPEAKER_03: But God is telling you no.
- 28:21SPEAKER_03: You see, the fire, did it burn Ibrahim?
- 28:26SPEAKER_03: It never did.
- 28:30SPEAKER_03: But Allah didn't remove the fire's ability to burn because fire doesn't burn, it burned.
- 28:39SPEAKER_03: He just commanded it.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: He removed its permission.
- 28:45SPEAKER_03: Fire can only burn with God's command.
- 28:48SPEAKER_03: That's why we say God He operates in three ways.
- 28:51SPEAKER_03: He operates through means, without means, and against means.
- 29:02SPEAKER_03: Because that's the system, the divine matrix, the test.
- 29:07SPEAKER_03: And then he sends the prophets with this kalima to tell them, not Prophet Muhammad, every single prophet called towards the same thing.
- 29:17SPEAKER_03: Worship one God, don't associate anyone with him.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: And follow me, the Prophet of the time, based on the rules given to me by God, which is in your best interest.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: Then the Prophet would die and another Prophet would come.
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: And it would be La ilaha illallah Adam Rasulullah, La ilaha illallah Nuh Rasulullah, La ilaha illallah Raisa Ruhullah, La ilaha illallah Musa Khabibullah, La ilaha illallah Ibrahim Khalilullah, La ilaha illallah Muhammadun Rasulullah, the final, the seal of all Prophets.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: All preach the same thing.
- 29:53SPEAKER_03: It's us human beings who played around with things.
- 29:56SPEAKER_03: Reality the message has always been the same.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: Believe in the oneness.
- 30:01SPEAKER_03: And now even quantum physics, everything is going towards that.
- 30:05SPEAKER_03: Tawheed.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: If you really dig deep and read and understand what you're reading, you'll see that that's what they're calling towards.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: We don't have enough time to get into it today.
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: But it's fascinating.
- 30:16SPEAKER_03: You become attached to these things because you see their ability, but then the verse says, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: The Prophet comes with the hadith wa'am.
- 30:43SPEAKER_03: If everybody, um, angels, powers, money, nuclear warheads, uh, all the leads of this world, the powers, the kings, the forces come together to try to benefit you with something, they cannot benefit you except with something God has written for you.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: And if they all come together to harm you with something, they cannot harm you except with something Allah has written against you.
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: Rufia At al-akhlam, the pens have been raised with jaqsat-suf and the papers are dry.
- 31:08SPEAKER_03: Literally speaking, when the pens have been lifted and the papers are dry, this means that this is the all of knowledge.
- 31:21SPEAKER_03: If this is all you understood, this is all you need.
- 31:24SPEAKER_03: Ulhu Allahu Ahar.
- 31:26SPEAKER_03: Allah Samat.
- 31:28SPEAKER_03: Not only is he one, but he doesn't need any of his creation, and all of his creation is in need of him.
- 31:33SPEAKER_03: So he operates through means, but he also operates without means.
- 31:38SPEAKER_03: He feeds Mariam in the Mihrab with fruits of the summer and the winter, and fruits of the winter in the summer, and she's locked up in a room.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: Every time Zakariya enters the mouse, what's going on?
- 31:51SPEAKER_03: Where'd you come up with this?
- 31:53SPEAKER_03: Qalatu Aminlah.
- 31:55SPEAKER_03: It's from Allah.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: He provides from whom he wills.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: Immediately Zakariya starts making raham.
- 32:04SPEAKER_03: He gets the point for a son.
- 32:07SPEAKER_03: And Allah grants him.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: Because he realized Allah doesn't need the means.
- 32:12SPEAKER_03: And then Allah operates against the means.
- 32:14SPEAKER_03: Ibrahim is sitting in the fire, eating food for 40 days, coming down from heaven in the fire.
- 32:20SPEAKER_03: When asked what was the best time you spent on earth, he said, the time in the fire.
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: Can you imagine just sitting in the fire made by humans just chilling, eating, doing your thing?
- 32:30SPEAKER_03: What a sight.
- 32:31SPEAKER_03: What would that do to your conviction, to your servitude?
- 32:35SPEAKER_03: That's why in Hajj, this whole thing was all about Ibrahim alayhi salam.
- 32:40SPEAKER_03: The sacrifices and the trials from one after the other that we learnt about during Hajj, Brother Al-Kaisar was with me on my Hajj trip.
- 32:48SPEAKER_03: It was phenomenal.
- 32:49SPEAKER_03: It was like the first test, throw my body, sacrifice myself to the fire.
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: Standing by Tawheed, that was the trial of Tawheed against all of society.
- 33:00SPEAKER_03: Everybody's against me.
- 33:01SPEAKER_03: I stick to God's command.
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: Then you're comfortable with your home, migrate.
- 33:07SPEAKER_03: That was the test of leaving your comforts behind for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
- 33:13SPEAKER_03: Then leave Hajja, then leave her, your son in a barren desert.
- 33:18SPEAKER_03: That was the test.
- 33:19SPEAKER_03: Surrendering in that way was the test of what?
- 33:21SPEAKER_03: That was the test of you know trusting in Allah against all visible means.
- 33:28SPEAKER_03: No water, no food, a desert.
- 33:30SPEAKER_03: What's going on?
- 33:32SPEAKER_03: Then the ultimate test.
- 33:35SPEAKER_03: Sacrifice your son.
- 33:38SPEAKER_03: Slaughter your own son.
- 33:39SPEAKER_03: Did the knife cut?
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: By the way, he actually went for it.
- 33:43SPEAKER_03: But the knife didn't cut because the knife only cuts through God's word command.
- 33:48SPEAKER_03: But he went for it.
- 33:49SPEAKER_03: What test was that?
- 33:50SPEAKER_03: What trial was that?
- 33:52SPEAKER_03: He gave him his son at an old age.
- 33:54SPEAKER_03: That was a gift from Allah.
- 33:56SPEAKER_03: That was the test of loving Allah more than any gift that He's given you.
- 34:02SPEAKER_03: Then when He passed all these tests, then He says, Now call people towards Hajj and they will come running on their feet from all over the world.
- 34:14SPEAKER_03: There was no microphone, no marketing strategy, no audience.
- 34:18SPEAKER_03: Look at Mecca today.
- 34:21SPEAKER_03: Because when there was nothing but Allah in its heart, when he called, that call was effective.
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: Now we call people towards Islam.
- 34:27SPEAKER_03: They're like, but you're following and running after the same things of these worldly things that we are after.
- 34:32SPEAKER_03: What how are you any different?
- 34:36SPEAKER_03: We have a responsibility not just to give dawah with our words, but with our hand, with our state.
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: Nowadays I'm finding Muslims are out there to get you.
- 34:47SPEAKER_03: Like if you succeed in any way, unfortunately, I have what two and a half million followers on Instagram, for example.
- 34:54SPEAKER_03: And then you have all these people that are constantly like if I say one thing here or one thing there, the people that are attacking you are mostly the Muslims.
- 35:02SPEAKER_03: And I think about that.
- 35:02SPEAKER_03: I think thousands of people have embraced Islam.
- 35:05SPEAKER_03: Allah's used me for that.
- 35:06SPEAKER_03: That's His grace.
- 35:09SPEAKER_03: And I think to myself, what do you guys want as Muslims?
- 35:11SPEAKER_03: What do you want?
- 35:12SPEAKER_03: You want us to take each other down and you want all these people that are benefiting not to benefit for what?
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: To prove what?
- 35:19SPEAKER_03: So we're out there to get each other.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 35:22SPEAKER_03: Because we didn't understand the next verse.
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: Ikqra wa rabbuk al-akram.
- 35:28SPEAKER_03: So the ta'alluq, we said, Allah wants you to know him through his names, ta'arruf.
- 35:34SPEAKER_03: But he doesn't want you attached to worldly means, he wants you attached to his names.
- 35:38SPEAKER_03: Ta'aluq.
- 35:39SPEAKER_03: And then finally, ikra wa rabbuk al-akram.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: This is taqhalluq, your akhlaq, your character.
- 35:46SPEAKER_03: Allah wants you to deal with people and treat people through his names.
- 35:50SPEAKER_03: Someone comes and calls you out and says, You did that, that was wrong.
- 35:54SPEAKER_03: So who do you think you are?
- 35:55SPEAKER_03: Don't you know who I am?
- 35:58SPEAKER_03: Here, what are you supposed to be?
- 36:00SPEAKER_03: Humble yourself.
- 36:02SPEAKER_03: Because Allah's, one of Allah's names is that.
- 36:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala can honor and he can disgrace.
- 36:09SPEAKER_03: So Allah says, What in the Quran?
- 36:11SPEAKER_03: Awilatin alamin?
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: We have to humble ourselves amongst the believers.
- 36:17SPEAKER_03: You know what, brother, you were right.
- 36:19SPEAKER_03: I got too excited at one of the football games after Egypt lost.
- 36:23SPEAKER_03: I was devastated.
- 36:25SPEAKER_03: And so I put up a post about Morocco, and I was like, you know, two billion Muslims are giving you bay'ah to beat.
- 36:33SPEAKER_03: Who are they playing?
- 36:34SPEAKER_03: Morocco?
- 36:36SPEAKER_03: France, just making sure.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: Beep beep.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: You know, giving you bay'ah to beat the French and the Wawaqbada bit excited.
- 36:43SPEAKER_03: So one brother, some chef came up and said, Brother, come on, what is this?
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: What do you think we're doing here?
- 36:49SPEAKER_03: Fe Sabi did that?
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: Like, what's happening?
- 36:53SPEAKER_03: And he and he called me out and he thought I was gonna like kick back and this and that.
- 36:57SPEAKER_03: I went on his feet, I said, you know what?
- 36:58SPEAKER_03: You're absolutely right.
- 37:00SPEAKER_03: I dropped the ball, I got a bit too excited.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: And I apologize and thank you for bringing it to my attention.
- 37:07SPEAKER_03: I just took the post down.
- 37:09SPEAKER_03: And if you ever see anything wrong again in the future, please let me know.
- 37:12SPEAKER_03: Because I was thinking of this verse.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: The khaloq.
- 37:15SPEAKER_03: Treating people through Allah's names.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: Stepping on the ego.
- 37:23SPEAKER_03: Successful are the ones who purify it.
- 37:31SPEAKER_03: So we want to treat people through Allah's names, being kind to people, giving people the benefit of the doubt, having a good opinion of people, not waiting for them like a cat waits by the mouse hole for them to slip or trip and I told you so.
- 37:49SPEAKER_03: But to give them the benefit of the doubt, to pray for them.
- 37:52SPEAKER_03: If you feel jealousy towards someone or envious of someone, you go, you pray for them.
- 37:57SPEAKER_03: That's the way to cure your heart from that disease.
- 38:00SPEAKER_03: And ask a Shafi to cure your heart from those diseases.
- 38:05SPEAKER_03: So now you have ta'a ta'aruf, you're getting to know Allah through his names by properly reading and decoding.
- 38:12SPEAKER_03: Why do you think dunya decoded got over by the grace of Allah now?
- 38:17SPEAKER_03: Dunya decoded the series on YouTube has cost one billion views.
- 38:24SPEAKER_03: I had no idea.
- 38:27SPEAKER_03: But it's because what I found is that people are really thirsty for this.
- 38:32SPEAKER_03: The definition, decoding dunya, what is the definition?
- 38:34SPEAKER_03: This is my talk tomorrow, it's about success.
- 38:37SPEAKER_03: My book, The Afterlife Manual, that you can find on Amazon, it's a plug.
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: And ashamed.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: Please buy my book.
- 38:48SPEAKER_03: It's on Amazon.
- 38:50SPEAKER_03: But the Afterlife Manual talks about defining success.
- 38:55SPEAKER_03: Most people today are doing what?
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: They're busy collecting things we were never allowed to take across to the other side.
- 39:07SPEAKER_03: And our understanding of success and numbers and what number, how many followers does one app that makes a person nowadays?
- 39:15SPEAKER_03: How many followers?
- 39:17SPEAKER_03: Do you know who has the most followers on Instagram?
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: Do you know how many followers he has on Instagram?
- 39:26SPEAKER_03: Anyone know?
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: 685 some million followers?
- 39:31SPEAKER_03: MashaAllah.
- 39:33SPEAKER_03: But there's someone with more followers than him.
- 39:35SPEAKER_03: Do you know who he is?
- 39:37SPEAKER_03: Iblis.
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: Shaitan.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: So is it a sign of success?
- 39:43SPEAKER_03: How many times is Iblis mentioned in the Quran?
- 39:48SPEAKER_03: 11.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: Do you know why 11?
- 39:52SPEAKER_03: How many commandments are there?
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: Our cousins in the Jewish faith, they have how many commandments?
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: 10.
- 40:00SPEAKER_03: So if you cross to the 11th, you consider that transgressing, so it's satanic.
- 40:07SPEAKER_03: So at least was mentioned 11 times in the Quran.
- 40:10SPEAKER_03: Shaytan, a multiple of that, 88 times.
- 40:13SPEAKER_03: That's why when the lady did magic on the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, how many knots did she tie?
- 40:19SPEAKER_03: Eleven.
- 40:20SPEAKER_03: And then the Prophet, the verses were revealed and Mu'awatian.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: Let's count them.
- 40:48SPEAKER_03: Eleven verses.
- 40:51SPEAKER_03: Everything in the Quran.
- 40:53SPEAKER_03: Because it's there's like I I met a beautiful family yesterday.
- 40:57SPEAKER_03: I was just kind of like roaming on the street.
- 40:59SPEAKER_03: They're like, oh my god, and they parked the car and they got out.
- 41:02SPEAKER_03: The beautiful family's like, I can't be you're here, and I told my husband I'm gonna see you.
- 41:06SPEAKER_03: There was such a beautiful meeting.
- 41:09SPEAKER_03: And the brother was like, What are the chances?
- 41:11SPEAKER_03: I'm like 100%.
- 41:16SPEAKER_03: Because he's the orchestrator.
- 41:19SPEAKER_03: You know, the the the you know, we see our own like in the words that we use, it's like, what are the chances?
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: The chances are not just high, they're like 100%.
- 41:29SPEAKER_03: When you understand that he is the one, there are there is no randomness in our deen.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: Nothing is random, everything is wa kulla shay in khalaknahu be mikad.
- 41:42SPEAKER_03: Everything appointed in an exact, accurate way, intentionally by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
- 41:49SPEAKER_03: I'm a bit jet-lagged, so I just made some notes.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: I always make notes, I end up never using them for but I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything that I wanted to share with you.
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: Oh, the hadith.
- 42:00SPEAKER_03: So I just wanted to say, maybe we end with this.
- 42:02SPEAKER_03: You have spent your entire life negotiating with pens that were lifted before you were born.
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: Everything was written by Allah.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: You spend your whole life negotiating with pens that were lifted before you were born.
- 42:19SPEAKER_03: So I want you to go home tonight and start negotiating with the one who wrote it all out.
- 42:35SPEAKER_03: I wanted to leave some time for questions.
- 42:37SPEAKER_03: There's about 12 minutes.
- 42:39SPEAKER_03: They told me we had the option to do that, so I think they're gonna go around.
- 42:44SPEAKER_03: But I don't mind you just speaking out.
- 42:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there we go.
- 42:46SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 42:51SPEAKER_01: As salamu alaykum.
- 42:55SPEAKER_01: I really appreciate it because um me and my family we have listened to a number of variations of this particular talk of yours on YouTube, so I really appreciate that.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: Um I think what we'd like across the pond in Britain is this ability to see Allah, to recognize him.
- 43:11SPEAKER_01: And I think that's really missing and it's really key listening to your talk.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: And as you said, the pens have been lifted, so it's no coincidence.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: But only a couple of days ago, Sheikh Mikhail Smith was doing a talk about Al-Kahum and really the fact that Allah is in independent and we, like you said, are dependent upon him.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: So I think it's beautiful timing, and sometimes life, like you said, doesn't allow us to see that we are dependent on Allah and that relationship is really important.
- 43:36SPEAKER_01: We end up forgetting the ghafla so much for the reminder.
- 43:39SPEAKER_03: Welcome Harizakum Lahay.
- 43:41SPEAKER_03: I'm actually because of this ghafla, I actually just um finished a mobile application.
- 43:48SPEAKER_03: Uh thank God for Mufti Claude and Sheikh Chat GPT.
- 43:53SPEAKER_03: We can create applications much faster these days.
- 43:56SPEAKER_03: It's called the Yakadvah Awakening.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: And the idea beh behind this app should be released next week is you get notifications on your phone that are like 30 second voice notes in my voice recorded that catch you in the middle of whatever you're doing and checks on you.
- 44:14SPEAKER_03: Were you present with God or not in that state?
- 44:17SPEAKER_03: So I'm just letting you know that I'm thinking about these things.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: But to get to a point of where presence is not just a state, but a station.
- 44:27SPEAKER_03: Know the difference in uh between someone's spiritual state comes and goes.
- 44:34SPEAKER_03: So you might spend some time reading a lot of Quran, meditating, praying, tahajud, fasting from food, and then you develop a certain spiritual state.
- 44:43SPEAKER_03: But but then after a while you may engage in idle talk and backbiting and this, and very quickly the state leaves you.
- 44:51SPEAKER_03: How is it that we can turn these spiritual states into spiritual stations?
- 44:57SPEAKER_03: And what's fascinating is some of the greatest saints they got their spiritual enlightenments in places they would have never expected.
- 45:06SPEAKER_03: One of the greatest awliya got his spiritual revelation in the washroom.
- 45:11SPEAKER_03: And the Mashayah used to say that that happened so that he wouldn't claim it as his own.
- 45:16SPEAKER_03: That was God's way of protecting him.
- 45:18SPEAKER_03: Because if we say that's my work.
- 45:20SPEAKER_03: So I want to also say from this that part of the negation, there are actually five things you have to negate before the Kalima of Tawheed ever takes a firm grasp on your heart.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: And that's negating the doing of the universe, not the universe, but that doing of the universe.
- 45:37SPEAKER_03: Negating the beloved eight.
- 45:49SPEAKER_03: Five on relationships, uh, fathers, brethren, tribes, all that.
- 45:55SPEAKER_03: Um about money, money you businesses you're in and money that you've saved, and one on lifestyle.
- 46:03SPEAKER_03: Allah says, if these are more beloved to you than Allah and his Rasul and striving in his path.
- 46:08SPEAKER_03: Because at the time, why Allah?
- 46:10SPEAKER_03: Because at the time of death, Allah, whoever looks forward to meeting Allah, Allah looks forward to meeting them.
- 46:16SPEAKER_03: But whoever you know does not look forward to meeting Allah, Allah does not look forward to meeting them.
- 46:22SPEAKER_03: What makes you hold on to life and not wanting to look forward to meet Allah?
- 46:26SPEAKER_03: Your attachment to these eight things.
- 46:28SPEAKER_03: So I tell my wife, I said, I know you love me and I love you and all that hocus pocus, but love Allah more.
- 46:34SPEAKER_03: You're better off that way.
- 46:37SPEAKER_03: I have to leave you one day.
- 46:39SPEAKER_03: He's always there.
- 46:40SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 46:41SPEAKER_03: So that's the second.
- 46:43SPEAKER_03: The third is negating your own self.
- 46:46SPEAKER_03: Anna Anna.
- 46:48SPEAKER_03: There's a Sufi saying, it's beautiful, it says, Oh Anna, the egoic I.
- 47:02SPEAKER_03: It's just corrupt by its, it's just the way it's put together, its essence is corruption.
- 47:12SPEAKER_03: Oh you that is creating a barrier between me and my beloved.
- 47:16SPEAKER_03: That nafs thinking that I, even the Arabs have something, when they say anna, they say, Awudu billahim in kalimatana.
- 47:23SPEAKER_03: Part of our culture when we say, oh, I did this, I seek refuge from the I, the egoic I.
- 47:29SPEAKER_03: So that I did, I accomplished, I have, I'm so awesome.
- 47:34SPEAKER_03: And a lot of, you know, because in modern life, I mean, because I I think also part of the Bradford Literature Festival is addressing Muslims that are kind of struggling between that balance between having the you know their faith and modern life.
- 47:50SPEAKER_03: Like how do you make that balance?
- 47:53SPEAKER_03: Let's save that for tomorrow, inshaAllah.
- 47:57SPEAKER_03: But so the nafs, and then finally, um Al-Ashya, the the the previous nations, Yaqeen.
- 48:05SPEAKER_03: If you notice the stories of the Prophets, every story of a Prophet that Allah sent to his people, their people had a specific trade or a specific quality to them that they had a lot, that they over-emphasized.
- 48:18SPEAKER_03: Like add their physical strength, shu'ai, business, um each one like uh firaun, uh, karun, money, and then the Prabhupada will come and say, No, your success is not in that.
- 48:33SPEAKER_03: Your success is in you to being grateful for that, which means remaining within the boundaries through your actions in a way that shows your gratitude for these things, not to transgress God's boundaries and those things.
- 48:46SPEAKER_03: That's true gratitude.
- 48:47SPEAKER_03: Gratitude is not alhamdulillah, that's hamd.
- 48:50SPEAKER_03: Gratitude is action.
- 48:54SPEAKER_03: And finally, al-ashia il mubashira, negating the things that are immediately around the heart, like things you're daily, kind of like sleep.
- 49:02SPEAKER_03: Because most people, oh, if I don't sleep at least 10 hours a day, I don't feel rested.
- 49:07SPEAKER_03: If you examine that sentence, there's corrupt conviction in that, that sleep gives rest.
- 49:12SPEAKER_03: You should sleep.
- 49:13SPEAKER_03: It's very important.
- 49:14SPEAKER_03: I work out daily, it's very important for me.
- 49:16SPEAKER_03: So recovery is a big part of it.
- 49:18SPEAKER_03: They tell you sleep eight hours.
- 49:20SPEAKER_03: That was actually, I heard, introduced by a mattress company as a marketing ploy to ensure that you know you're sleeping eight hours a day, kind of like cereal was introduced for breakfast, cornflakes back in the days, whatever it is.
- 49:34SPEAKER_03: So, no, the the the that that that's not um that's not what it is.
- 49:41SPEAKER_03: They found that actually back in the days, the way Shakespeare and others, even like beyond Islam, they would sleep four hours, they would wake up for two and then sleep another four hours.
- 49:51SPEAKER_03: So they would get a lot done in the middle of the night.
- 49:53SPEAKER_03: That's tahajjud.
- 49:55SPEAKER_03: So I was sometimes like, wait, I gotta ruin my tahajjud.
- 49:59SPEAKER_03: Like I have this practice where I'll get up for an hour or two at night to meditate, you know, make dhikr and pray, and and I have a certain regimen.
- 50:07SPEAKER_03: I talk about it in Dunya Dikodid.
- 50:10SPEAKER_03: Um every Muslim should have a marikam of that.
- 50:13SPEAKER_03: Um no, because what they're not accounting for is the spiritual strength that you get from that.
- 50:21SPEAKER_03: So now you don't need as much sleep as someone else because you have tamadina, you have peace.
- 50:26SPEAKER_03: See, there are two formulas in the Quran, and one of them ishat and whoever turns his back to my dhikr, my remembrance, he will have a life of dunak.
- 50:38SPEAKER_03: Danak is such a strong word in the Arabic language.
- 50:40SPEAKER_03: Allah is dykh, constriction, noon is naked.
- 50:44SPEAKER_03: It's problems after problem.
- 50:46SPEAKER_03: You know naked.
- 50:48SPEAKER_03: That's how tough to translate in English.
- 50:52SPEAKER_03: I'll try to look it up later.
- 50:53SPEAKER_03: But um and qay is qadr, just one problem after the other.
- 50:59SPEAKER_03: But here it's not the remembrance, it's the obedience in the tafsir.
- 51:02SPEAKER_03: Man arada and dikri and y'a.
- 51:05SPEAKER_03: If you're not obedient to Allah, no matter where you go, you're gonna have problems in your life.
- 51:09SPEAKER_03: You're not gonna be having you're gonna go sleep at night, something's off.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: Because he's the one that controls these emotions.
- 51:15SPEAKER_03: That you can't circumvent Allah.
- 51:18SPEAKER_03: There's no way, there's no back door.
- 51:20SPEAKER_03: Allah Himself says, Fa'eynat, where are you gonna go?
- 51:25SPEAKER_03: This is His simulation, his creation.
- 51:29SPEAKER_03: So figure it out before it's too late.
- 51:32SPEAKER_03: Before that you hear that sound, and most of the time, you know, have you ever had one of those dreams that you died?
- 51:38SPEAKER_03: Right, and then you panic and you come back, you're like, oh my god, I got my what if you know the next time that happens, it's not a dream.
- 51:46SPEAKER_03: And you're actually done.
- 51:48SPEAKER_03: It's game.
- 51:49SPEAKER_03: This is not PlayStation.
- 51:50SPEAKER_03: This is pray station.
- 51:52SPEAKER_03: You don't get three lives.
- 51:54SPEAKER_03: Once you're dead, it's game over.
- 51:57SPEAKER_03: So if I want you to go home with anything today is go home and be like, okay, I need to change, I need to like do something about my life, draw nearer to it, figure it out.
- 52:07SPEAKER_03: Nothing is worth it.
- 52:08SPEAKER_03: Don't don't trade eternity for 60 to 70 lousy years of this life.
- 52:16SPEAKER_03: It's not worth it.
- 52:18SPEAKER_03: What time do we have?
- 52:22SPEAKER_03: One more question.
- 52:24SPEAKER_03: Sorry for the long answer.
- 52:33SPEAKER_00: I just wanted to pick up on something you said about working out is really important to you.
- 52:39SPEAKER_00: I just wanted to know is that connected to the Islamic perspective?
- 52:44SPEAKER_03: Beautiful question.
- 52:45SPEAKER_03: Beautiful question, yes.
- 52:46SPEAKER_03: The Prophet she's asking, is that kind of also comes from a spiritual tradition, like, or you just work out.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: See, I I don't, they always ask me, how do you balance between uh dunya and deen, this life and your religion?
- 53:00SPEAKER_03: And my answer is always there is no balance.
- 53:04SPEAKER_03: And for most of you, it's like, what do you mean?
- 53:06SPEAKER_03: I said, well, to balance something, you've got to kind of put it on a scale, right?
- 53:10SPEAKER_03: And so you have to divide it up and put it on a scale.
- 53:13SPEAKER_03: You can't separate deen from dunya, because deen is a mode of perception and view, a way of life that you go about living your dunya.
- 53:25SPEAKER_03: So in that way, everything, even you know, the way I eat, I don't eat to fulfill my hunger or satiate my hunger.
- 53:33SPEAKER_03: I eat because God commanded me in the Quran to eat.
- 53:35SPEAKER_03: He said, eat and drink.
- 53:36SPEAKER_03: There's a very big difference.
- 53:38SPEAKER_03: Yes, I get hungry.
- 53:39SPEAKER_03: Yes, I think of food, but I try to practice thinking of Allah before food.
- 53:43SPEAKER_03: And then I move towards the means.
- 53:45SPEAKER_03: But knowing and negating that you don't satiate my hunger, Allah does through his command.
- 53:50SPEAKER_03: So, and to answer your working out question, the Prophet said, Al-mu'min al-Kawi, khayrun wa ahabu ilallahi min al-mu'min al ta'if.
- 53:58SPEAKER_03: The physically here is not talking about spiritual strength.
- 54:01SPEAKER_03: It's known amongst scholars for those that this is talking about physical strength.
- 54:05SPEAKER_03: Al-muqmin, the strong believer, is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer.
- 54:10SPEAKER_03: This is physical strength.
- 54:12SPEAKER_03: Because why?
- 54:12SPEAKER_03: Because they can serve people more, they can have more taqhalluq with humanity.
- 54:16SPEAKER_03: I I when I'm playing around with my kids, this was recent.
- 54:19SPEAKER_03: I only started taking care of my health when I was, I started at 45, I'm 48 now.
- 54:25SPEAKER_03: So I started very late, but right now I hired a trainer for my wife.
- 54:29SPEAKER_03: She trains five days a week.
- 54:31SPEAKER_03: I train five days a week.
- 54:32SPEAKER_03: We have a nutritionist, we eat a certain way, we avoid certain foods, we're very particular, and uh, it's made me a better person to my family, my kids, wife, friends.
- 54:43SPEAKER_03: I'm able to serve better, I feel better, even in my worship, everything.
- 54:47SPEAKER_03: But worship is not, it's not like God is on one, you know, like most people have a list of things and God is an item on their list.
- 54:55SPEAKER_03: But I'd like to call it the God list.
- 54:56SPEAKER_03: Everything is a function of God in that list.
- 54:59SPEAKER_03: Look at life that way, it's very different.
- 55:01SPEAKER_03: I hope that helps.
