- 0:02Speaker 1: This is Billy Dee Williams, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It's showtime.
- 0:14Speaker 3: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:17Speaker 3: Picture Association of America.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It is intended for mature audiences, and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Provide more cooling in the containment chambers.
- 0:59Speaker 1: To your stations, we have a movie meltdown.
- 1:05Speaker 2: How'd you get your scar?
- 1:09Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian. And
- 1:12Speaker 1: joining me once again via the wonders of the internet.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I am Sam. Hey, how's it going?
- 1:18Speaker 1: Welcome back. As much as we've ever left, I don't know.
- 1:24Speaker 1: We are connected through time and space and occasionally Zoom. So,
- 1:28Speaker 1: you know, we have to put these sessions together because
- 1:32Speaker 1: we feel like we're missing something.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Maybe it's just me. I feel like I'm missing something
- 1:38Speaker 1: when I'm not talking to you about nonsense.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:41Speaker 1: So we have to make good on it when we
- 1:43Speaker 1: have an excuse.
- 1:44Speaker 2: This is my one chance to geek out, uh, pull out.
- 1:51Speaker 1: And we have an excuse. Cause I even saw it
- 1:54Speaker 1: coming up and message you. And I was like, Oh God,
- 1:57Speaker 1: I just saw a promo for that. part two colon
- 2:01Speaker 1: the next day movie does that mean we're gonna do
- 2:04Speaker 1: it again and you were like of course we.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Are and you just saw that promo you were like
- 2:08Speaker 2: i have just pissed myself with excitement.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Um i was pissed but that's not the.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Way it happened.
- 2:20Speaker 1: So on a normal episode we would ease our way
- 2:23Speaker 1: in and talk about other stuff But knowing how you
- 2:26Speaker 1: and I operate, if we're going to attack this movie,
- 2:29Speaker 1: we probably should get right to it, or it'll be
- 2:32Speaker 1: like an hour and a half later, and we'll be like, wait,
- 2:34Speaker 1: what movie are we talking about?
- 2:35Speaker 2: That's right, that's right, because I had a list of
- 2:37Speaker 2: like nine other movies to talk about.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So other movies we can talk about, but we will
- 2:43Speaker 1: plan ahead for the next round.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Absolutely, yes, absolutely, absolutely. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I
- 2:50Speaker 2: think it's a good thing, because I think the last time.
- 2:54Speaker 2: We had talked so much about other stuff and that
- 2:56Speaker 2: the point of the show, I mean, I think we
- 2:58Speaker 2: got into it pretty good, but you know.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I actually really liked that episode.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 1: We presented valid points and definitely on both ends of
- 3:06Speaker 1: the spectrum.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Absolutely. Autism spectrum. That's right.
- 3:11Speaker 1: But it's, yeah, it's funny. Cause that one, I don't
- 3:13Speaker 1: even know that we planned on it being a whole episode.
- 3:16Speaker 1: We were just like, yeah, we need to talk about that.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And then we launched into like a two hour discussion
- 3:20Speaker 1: about it.
- 3:20Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know if
- 3:23Speaker 2: we're going to achieve the heights. That's possible.
- 3:28Speaker 1: We'll get to that. We'll get to it. All that
- 3:31Speaker 1: having been said... It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Their nightmare.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Is you and I fighting together.
- 3:40Speaker 1: You must know you cannot win.
- 3:52Speaker 3: You're all here. Because there is nothing to return to.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Dark days lie ahead of us all. We will teach
- 4:11Speaker 3: you how to fight.
- 4:17Speaker 2: That's impressive.
- 4:23Speaker 1: The Scargivers among them.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Those this village holds most dear.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I shall destroy them.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I have no choice.
- 4:43Speaker 5: But to fight.
- 4:58Speaker 1: The scar gave her herself. Go, go, go, go, go!
- 5:05Speaker 1: Are you truly prepared to allow this to continue in
- 5:08Speaker 1: your name?
- 5:13Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I won't allow this place to die for me.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Go, Lucille!
- 5:37Speaker 6: He tried to cut me so I'd fit.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And doesn't that sound familiar? Doesn't that hit so close
- 5:45Speaker 1: to home? Doesn't that make you shiver?
- 5:47Speaker 6: The way things could have gone.
- 5:51Speaker 1: And doesn't that feel peculiar? When everyone wants a little more.
- 5:56Speaker 1: It's all that I do remember. To never go that far.
- 6:00Speaker 7: Could you leave.
- 6:02Speaker 6: Me with a scar?
- 6:05Speaker 1: This week's Silver Theater feature is the brand new, fancy,
- 6:10Speaker 1: straight to Netflix, Rebel Moon Dash Part 2, colon, The Scargiver.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. The Freshmaker. Oh, man.
- 6:22Speaker 1: The plot according to IMDb. Actually, remind me. We'll get
- 6:27Speaker 1: back to that description in a minute.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:29Speaker 1: The plot according to IMDb.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Oh, no, wait.
- 6:32Speaker 1: We have to do. So, it is brand new. This year, 2024,
- 6:35Speaker 1: the director... It pains me to say it, but here
- 6:40Speaker 1: we go. The director, Zack Snyder. And the plot, according
- 6:44Speaker 1: to IMDb. Korra and surviving warriors prepare to defend their
- 6:50Speaker 1: home alongside its people against the realm. That was awkwardly worded.
- 6:55Speaker 1: The warriors face their pasts, revealing their motivations before the
- 7:00Speaker 1: realm's forces arrive to crush the growing rebellion. So, spoiler alert,
- 7:06Speaker 1: we're going to run the hell out of this. And
- 7:09Speaker 1: it's arguable how much you can ruin it anyway, but
- 7:12Speaker 1: we're going to try, I'm sure. So, go watch it.
- 7:16Speaker 1: You might still subscribe to Netflix. I don't know anymore.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I wonder sometimes. I look on there and go, wait. Actually,
- 7:24Speaker 1: one of the shows I'm watching now is on Netflix,
- 7:26Speaker 1: so I am getting a little use out of it
- 7:28Speaker 1: for something that's like 15 years old. But when I
- 7:31Speaker 1: look for new stuff, most of the time I'm like,
- 7:33Speaker 1: what is all this crap?
- 7:35Speaker 2: Oh, man, it's so confusing, dude. So much product. So
- 7:38Speaker 2: much going on.
- 7:38Speaker 1: So many different things, and they're always on a streaming
- 7:41Speaker 1: service I don't have, and that's annoying.
- 7:44Speaker 2: No, it's terrible. It's terrible. Yeah, absolutely.
- 7:47Speaker 1: But, okay, just to make your point come together... I
- 7:51Speaker 1: was listening to another show that shall remain nameless, but
- 7:55Speaker 1: they were describing, they just recently got together to discuss
- 7:59Speaker 1: the first one. Uh-huh. And the, my favorite part is
- 8:03Speaker 1: their description was, this is kind of like the Mentos
- 8:07Speaker 1: commercial version of star Wars.
- 8:09Speaker 2: No. Yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I was like, wow, the fresh maker.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Oh, that's weird.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah. It made sense when you said that it
- 8:18Speaker 1: is kind of the fresh maker.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:20Speaker 5: Look, dude.
- 8:22Speaker 7: Look, dude.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Look, dude.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Where would you like to begin?
- 8:28Speaker 2: I'm just going to state right now that by the...
- 8:35Speaker 2: I'm going to just state right now that my opinion
- 8:40Speaker 2: has not changed. I still think these movies are awesome. And,
- 8:46Speaker 2: though this one here I did not enjoy as much
- 8:49Speaker 2: as the first one, I still got into it with caveats.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I'm not going to just be like, you know, what
- 8:58Speaker 2: would we call it? An ideologue and just, you know,
- 9:01Speaker 2: tow the party line for Zack Snyder. All right. He's
- 9:04Speaker 2: got some problems. Okay. But I was going to say,
- 9:07Speaker 2: I'm just going to say, but I was like, eh,
- 9:12Speaker 2: I might be on Brian's side on this one for
- 9:14Speaker 2: the first hour. Okay. All right?
- 9:17Speaker 1: For the first nap. I mean, hour.
- 9:19Speaker 2: For the first hour. And we mentioned this. Hey, this
- 9:22Speaker 2: thing is only two hours long, which in Zack Snyder
- 9:24Speaker 2: terms is like a breeze, all right?
- 9:27Speaker 1: Now, granted, that's also because this is a scam, as
- 9:29Speaker 1: previously discussed in the last episode.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Oh, sure, sure. Got it, got it, got it, got it.
- 9:32Speaker 1: The nine-hour extravaganza, I'm sure, is coming very soon. Right, right. But, yeah,
- 9:38Speaker 1: I clicked on this and saw it was but two hours.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I was like, yeah.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yes. No, me too. Finally, a manageable movie I can watch,
- 9:46Speaker 1: especially Zack Snyder.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I was like, yes, the same thing, because really, I
- 9:52Speaker 2: feel like this thing came out so quickly that I
- 9:54Speaker 2: hadn't as much as I enjoyed the first one. I
- 9:59Speaker 2: hadn't built up enough experience. anticipation for this one. I
- 10:01Speaker 2: was going like, so even though I enjoyed it, when
- 10:03Speaker 2: I saw that it was out, I was going like,
- 10:05Speaker 2: oh boy.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Oh God, here we go again.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Here we go. All right. You got to brace yourself.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I got to build up some stanimo because this is,
- 10:14Speaker 2: this might be, take some mental gymnastics. To get excited about.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I'll tell you what though. I will say.
- 10:26Speaker 1: That.
- 10:27Speaker 2: At the beginning of this movie. There were some problems.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And I guess we should just. If we're just going
- 10:33Speaker 2: to talk about the beginning of the movie. We should just.
- 10:37Speaker 2: How would you like to start?
- 10:39Speaker 1: At the get go. From the very beginning. In the
- 10:43Speaker 1: voice over. By I believe Anthony Hopkins. Sir.
- 10:47Speaker 7: Sir.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Anthony hopkins oh yeah yeah i didn't i i couldn't
- 10:52Speaker 1: bring it to make myself back it up and double
- 10:54Speaker 1: check but i'm pretty sure he just described where they
- 10:59Speaker 1: are in this rebel moon and this planet and the
- 11:02Speaker 1: blah blah whatever and then within the next sentence describes
- 11:07Speaker 1: our like ragtag group of heroes as born of earth Oh.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Did he what? No.
- 11:15Speaker 1: You just said where they are.
- 11:17Speaker 8: Oh.
- 11:18Speaker 1: These weirdos are farmers born on this dumb rebel moon, right?
- 11:21Speaker 1: I was like, did you guys proofread the wraparound?
- 11:25Speaker 2: Oh, man, I didn't even catch that. I was already
- 11:28Speaker 2: so intoxicated by the brilliance of the movie, I was
- 11:32Speaker 2: already making... I swear I.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Heard him say born of Earth. I was just like,
- 11:36Speaker 1: but nuh-uh. I was like, I don't want to start
- 11:39Speaker 1: off arguing with you, Zach, but Who proofread this? Yeah, yeah.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I mean, the whole opening was the opening monologue. I mean,
- 11:49Speaker 2: Anthony Hopkins, it was kind of like, last time on
- 11:52Speaker 2: Rebel Moon.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Previously on Rebel Moon. Yeah, yeah. And it should have
- 11:57Speaker 1: popped up. Skip review. Skip intro.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Exactly. He should have just come on and said, like,
- 12:04Speaker 2: you've seen Star Wars, right? Same thing.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Well, no, he's the robot, so he should have done
- 12:10Speaker 1: the 3PO and gathered a bunch of little furry critters
- 12:12Speaker 1: around and was like, let me tell you the story
- 12:15Speaker 1: of Rebel Moon. And then, like, we get a nice
- 12:18Speaker 1: little flashback with sound effects, and yeah, so that should
- 12:22Speaker 1: have been what happened, but no.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. All I can say is so much to
- 12:28Speaker 2: talk about.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I mean, that's the, I'm just, the whole time it's
- 12:33Speaker 1: just the weird, basic things that I always have issues
- 12:37Speaker 1: with in every movie. So it's not just this one,
- 12:39Speaker 1: but I'm like, there's just, there's things that I don't
- 12:43Speaker 1: get so much. Like from the very beginning, they're riding up.
- 12:46Speaker 1: That's the last movie we see. I'm riding back towards town.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:50Speaker 1: And then they get there and the two guys waiting
- 12:52Speaker 1: for them introduce themselves. i was like wait isn't this
- 12:57Speaker 1: the same village it was like don't those two people
- 13:01Speaker 1: live with you like granted you didn't know a few
- 13:05Speaker 1: of those other new characters but like why would you
- 13:08Speaker 1: introduce yourself to the guy who's lived there his whole
- 13:10Speaker 1: life and this chick that's been there the last two
- 13:13Speaker 1: seasons you know farming with you like I was like,
- 13:16Speaker 1: that's just a weird way to ease into this. Like, yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 1: you should be like, oh, Gunnar, I haven't seen you
- 13:21Speaker 1: in weeks. Introduce me to your friends. But like, that's
- 13:24Speaker 1: not what we get. They're like, welcome to our village.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I've never met them before. I was like, again, did
- 13:32Speaker 1: someone proofread this?
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I was so into the shots, man, that I
- 13:40Speaker 2: wasn't even listening.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it confused me so much that I went,
- 13:45Speaker 1: are they somewhere else? Like, I really started to question.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I was like, I swear, I thought they were going
- 13:50Speaker 1: back to the same town at the end of the
- 13:52Speaker 1: other movie, but now maybe I'm wrong. And then a
- 13:55Speaker 1: minute or two later, they get down and like, oh,
- 13:57Speaker 1: we're glad to be back. And I'm like, Okay, so
- 14:00Speaker 1: it is the same village. Like, I don't know.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I was, I guess I was kind of like, I
- 14:05Speaker 2: guess I was, I thought they were just introducing themselves
- 14:07Speaker 2: to the newbies that just rode up on the Rockhead horses.
- 14:11Speaker 1: It's still a weird way to do it. I'm going
- 14:12Speaker 1: to ignore you two that live here and pretend like
- 14:15Speaker 1: you don't exist and talk to these new guys because
- 14:18Speaker 1: they're cooler looking than you.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Maybe they have social awkward anxiety. Oh my gosh, company's coming. Okay,
- 14:24Speaker 2: when they come up, I'm going to go up to
- 14:25Speaker 2: the new ones and I'm going to say, hey, welcome to...
- 14:27Speaker 2: You want some food?
- 14:29Speaker 1: They just started jumping up and down. Is that Titus?
- 14:32Speaker 1: Is it General Titus? Oh my God, I can't believe
- 14:35Speaker 1: he's in our town.
- 14:37Speaker 2: God damn it. Yeah, so... No, I'm going to say...
- 14:41Speaker 2: I'm going to say this is... I was fine with the... Okay.
- 14:45Speaker 1: All right.
- 14:45Speaker 2: First you got... You got techno rave Jeff Goldblum fly, crystal-less,
- 14:50Speaker 2: snot-covered guy coming up out of the water and everything.
- 14:54Speaker 2: And so I was just going like, oh, yeah, this
- 14:57Speaker 2: is going to be awesome. Because I think that guy,
- 14:58Speaker 2: as a villain, is really good. I mean, he's really.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I mean, that's the one thing that I had to
- 15:04Speaker 1: say last movie. I was like, as much of the
- 15:06Speaker 1: rest of this is... slapped together that dude has committed
- 15:10Speaker 1: like is he ridiculous and over the top yes but
- 15:13Speaker 1: he is a like scenery chewing villain and he is
- 15:17Speaker 1: doing it damn well.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Yeah he get what the prequels they didn't have a
- 15:22Speaker 2: strong i mean the sequels sequel trilogy they just don't
- 15:25Speaker 2: have a strong villain in it I think these movies
- 15:29Speaker 2: give you a really good villain here.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I mean, they did, and then they betrayed him to
- 15:34Speaker 1: do the same thing that we did the first movies.
- 15:37Speaker 1: It's like, what if he wasn't a villain? But they
- 15:40Speaker 1: did it really early. Eventually, they sort of did it
- 15:45Speaker 1: with Vader, but it was the end of the third
- 15:48Speaker 1: movie and the whole of the story arc. It was
- 15:51Speaker 1: what they were telling. But with the prequel, sequel, well,
- 15:55Speaker 1: sequel trilogy, like it's it like they make him turn
- 16:00Speaker 1: even towards the beginning you start to kind of question
- 16:02Speaker 1: what's going on but the first movie it sort of
- 16:05Speaker 1: works but like the second movie he's already like doubting
- 16:09Speaker 1: himself and not killing his mother when he obviously should
- 16:12Speaker 1: have and then like helping her and wants to join
- 16:15Speaker 1: together and i'm like what well now you've even the
- 16:18Speaker 1: closest thing to a villain we had you just killed
- 16:21Speaker 1: so now you're also not the villain who the hell's
- 16:23Speaker 1: the villain Right. Let's bring back the golden oldies.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah, there we go. We bring back the villain. I
- 16:29Speaker 2: don't know.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Anyway, okay. Sidetracked on Star Wars.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Never happened again on this episode.
- 16:33Speaker 9: Nope, nope.
- 16:34Speaker 1: We will never mention.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Star Wars again in a show about Rebel Moon. We
- 16:37Speaker 2: will not mention Star Wars. I thought the... Okay, I'm
- 16:41Speaker 2: just going to... I'm just going to get to what
- 16:43Speaker 2: I got to talk about.
- 16:44Speaker 10: All right?
- 16:44Speaker 2: Because... You do it. Okay, because when we talk about
- 16:48Speaker 2: the beginning, Rebel Moon, really we're only talking about one thing.
- 16:52Speaker 2: And that one thing... is wheat and the harvesting of
- 16:58Speaker 2: wheat and the planting of wheat and the, the goodness
- 17:01Speaker 2: of working with your hands and the earth. And I
- 17:05Speaker 2: felt like I was watching like a nature Valley commercial.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I mean, it was just like that went on and
- 17:12Speaker 2: on and on and, and, um, I watched some behind
- 17:17Speaker 2: the scenes stuff and I was going like, Oh, they
- 17:19Speaker 2: really planted all this. So they're not going to just like,
- 17:22Speaker 2: If you plant a field of wheat and you make
- 17:24Speaker 2: the actors go out and harvest it, you're going to
- 17:26Speaker 2: use that footage. And man, I was just going like,
- 17:29Speaker 2: they need an editor. And they also need to check
- 17:33Speaker 2: themselves over this over-glorification of agriculture. Not that I'm saying
- 17:39Speaker 2: that agriculture is a I don't know what I'm saying.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I mean, that's sort of.
- 17:44Speaker 1: The whole selling point of this movie and maybe the
- 17:47Speaker 1: whole sequel of both of these movies, you know?
- 17:50Speaker 2: They just produced such an Amish paradise in this movie.
- 17:55Speaker 2: This Viking Amish paradise where in a world where there
- 18:00Speaker 2: is interstellar travel and basic immortality for the rich... They
- 18:06Speaker 2: have the most rudimentary... It's like, basically, agriculture has not
- 18:12Speaker 2: progressed at all in this space-faring society.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Except when we need it to. Because that was my thing.
- 18:22Speaker 1: When we've got these ridiculous extended and slow-mo shots of wheat.
- 18:32Speaker 1: And then, like, that's going on forever. And I'm like, ah,
- 18:34Speaker 1: your old timey ways and farms. And then we cut
- 18:37Speaker 1: to them doing it at night. And like, okay, you
- 18:39Speaker 1: have an Amish lifestyle, but yet somehow you have these
- 18:42Speaker 1: 10 billion watt halogen bulbs from space technology that let
- 18:48Speaker 1: you do this all night long. So I was like,
- 18:50Speaker 1: except when we need it, then we'll have cool space technology.
- 18:53Speaker 1: technology yes but most of the time we're just amish
- 18:56Speaker 1: people that don't have anything anything.
- 18:58Speaker 2: But they've got they've got a couple of you know
- 19:02Speaker 2: uh lava rifles you know uh you know i thought
- 19:05Speaker 2: that well.
- 19:06Speaker 1: They hit them under the bed and stuff so.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Right right right i love those like you do Those
- 19:13Speaker 2: old west level rifles were very cool.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I'm fine with some of the production design when you
- 19:18Speaker 1: get to the cool spacey stuff, but there's only so
- 19:20Speaker 1: much production design you can do on an Amish lifestyle.
- 19:23Speaker 2: And here is, oh boy, boy, the Zack Snyder show,
- 19:28Speaker 2: how much you can do a production design of an
- 19:32Speaker 2: Amish lifestyle.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Well, on your wheat thing, I also feel like it
- 19:37Speaker 1: was bordering on, as you described it there, I was like,
- 19:40Speaker 1: It's almost like those commercials for the Beef Council. Like
- 19:45Speaker 1: at the end, wheat it's what's for dinner.
- 19:48Speaker 2: It was it's really really zach.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Can we afford to get sam in here so he
- 19:54Speaker 1: can do this voiceover oh my god it's gonna make
- 19:58Speaker 1: everything better.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I was thinking wheat probably comes from, here's the entomology
- 20:04Speaker 2: of wheat. It's eat with we. So we all eat.
- 20:09Speaker 1: We all get to eat because we ain't got no animals.
- 20:12Speaker 1: So we gonna eat what grows out the ground.
- 20:15Speaker 2: That's right. That's right. We don't have to share one cow.
- 20:18Speaker 2: We eat.
- 20:20Speaker 1: We eat.
- 20:21Speaker 2: And then over time, it just became wheat. This is
- 20:25Speaker 2: what I was thinking about while watching Rebel Moon.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Well, there was not much else to think about for
- 20:30Speaker 1: a good hour.
- 20:30Speaker 11: After like an hour of farming porn, I was just like,
- 20:36Speaker 11: what is going on? And I was just going like,
- 20:39Speaker 11: I think this is a reaction to our digital culture.
- 20:44Speaker 11: Where I bet we're going to go back to some
- 20:46Speaker 11: kind of like back to the earth, like a movement
- 20:49Speaker 11: kind of like from the seventies where people were just
- 20:51Speaker 11: like squatting in houses and, and, uh, you know, that's true.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Right. Right. Okay. That's good. That's good.
- 21:00Speaker 1: But we'll use the excuse of getting back to nature.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Retro hippies will come in and yeah, we'll have a
- 21:08Speaker 1: movement behind it because also we can't afford a house.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 2: It was such a, here's the thing, the wheat stuff.
- 21:15Speaker 2: It was just like Zack Snyder's weakness, weakness of, uh, just, uh,
- 21:24Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I just choked on that pun. Um, but, uh,
- 21:29Speaker 2: it's his, it's his strength and his weakness in that
- 21:33Speaker 2: he makes every moment underlined, bold, all caps, 16 exclamation
- 21:42Speaker 2: points behind everything. He milks every moment, every single word
- 21:48Speaker 2: fucking moment for like its maximum dramatic impact and so
- 21:54Speaker 2: everything is so goddamn dramatic every second that you just
- 21:59Speaker 2: don't even when they're just like scratching their nose.
- 22:06Speaker 1: We get very early on like titus comes up and
- 22:09Speaker 1: goes call everyone in for my rousing speech.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:13Speaker 1: And they all stand around and look, we're going to
- 22:16Speaker 1: work today. And I'm like, aren't these the farmers? Don't
- 22:20Speaker 1: they always do this?
- 22:21Speaker 2: Like, why do they need.
- 22:22Speaker 1: You to show up out of nowhere and tell them
- 22:25Speaker 1: how great it is to be a farmer? Like you've
- 22:27Speaker 1: been battling your whole life. You don't know nothing about farming.
- 22:31Speaker 1: That was just weird that like, called attention to the
- 22:34Speaker 1: fact that, like, bring everyone in for my heart-wrenching speech
- 22:39Speaker 1: of how amazing the farming life is going to be
- 22:42Speaker 1: for the next two days, clipped together into this next
- 22:46Speaker 1: two minutes of farming points.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Exactly. I couldn't believe when they started doing Irish jig dancing.
- 22:54Speaker 2: I was sort of like, wow. This is, again... I mean, yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 2: he's going to say that, come to my speech, and
- 23:02Speaker 2: then we're going to cut to some Irish girl singing
- 23:07Speaker 2: for five minutes while we watch awesome screensavers of space
- 23:11Speaker 2: planets floating by. So that's what I'm saying. He stops everything.
- 23:18Speaker 2: It's almost like a musical. It's like he stops everything
- 23:22Speaker 2: to show what badass shots he can do of that.
- 23:26Speaker 2: It's almost like he's going like, I'm going to shoot
- 23:29Speaker 2: this guy picking up a pencil with 15 cameras and,
- 23:33Speaker 2: you know, CG color grading. And it's going to be
- 23:36Speaker 2: the most beautiful picking up a pencil you've ever seen
- 23:40Speaker 2: in your life.
- 23:40Speaker 1: You know, I returned to the same thing that I
- 23:44Speaker 1: had last time. And it's like, I, I don't know
- 23:47Speaker 1: that I want to or not. I just, I immediately
- 23:49Speaker 1: compare him to what used to be my initial issues
- 23:53Speaker 1: with Michael Bay. And it's like, I remember like, Those, like,
- 23:57Speaker 1: shots of, like, here's a slow-mo shot of the flag waving.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Because this is damn patriotic. Look how beautiful it is,
- 24:07Speaker 1: my slow-mo shot of the flag. Let's hold on it
- 24:10Speaker 1: a little longer. Wait, wait, wait. All right, slow-mo flag waving.
- 24:13Speaker 1: You saw that, right? So, like, it's so.
- 24:16Speaker 9: Self-serious that, like, it's one thing.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I mean, it's ridiculous enough when you've got somebody like
- 24:21Speaker 1: Michael Bay doing it about Pearl Harbor or something. Like, well,
- 24:24Speaker 1: I mean... I guess there is a seriousness there. It's weird.
- 24:28Speaker 1: It's filtered through you, buddy, but whatever. But then when
- 24:31Speaker 1: it's like this and I'm like, okay, this is a
- 24:33Speaker 1: dumb space movie with knockoff lightsabers and a bunch of farmers.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Like why, why is anything self-serious in this? The only
- 24:43Speaker 1: way this should work is if it's like, roger corman
- 24:47Speaker 1: level knockoff sci-fi movie like this is so much fun
- 24:50Speaker 1: like who cares if it looks like crap this is.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Awesome right right that's how.
- 24:55Speaker 1: You make a knockoff sci-fi movie instead of like super
- 24:58Speaker 1: self-important slow-mo bullshit i'm like what are you doing man.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Well it's like if he would save it and then
- 25:07Speaker 2: you know get to it you know like uh you
- 25:09Speaker 2: know there's just exposition seeds you know that's what you're
- 25:11Speaker 2: gonna have and uh But everything was, well, I'm just saying,
- 25:15Speaker 2: that's his weakness, is that it's his strength and his
- 25:18Speaker 2: weakness that everything is amped up. He is the other
- 25:23Speaker 2: head of the two-headed monster of the Michael Bay, you know,
- 25:28Speaker 2: Zack Snyder monstrosity. It's kind of like modern film directing,
- 25:32Speaker 2: you know?
- 25:32Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. It's definitely a different mold that came along
- 25:37Speaker 1: in that Michael Bay era that then sort of handed
- 25:40Speaker 1: that torch to Or at least the baton, so they're
- 25:43Speaker 1: both still running.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 1: And again, some people defend Bay now that he's become
- 25:49Speaker 1: a different director than he was when he first started.
- 25:51Speaker 1: But I don't know. I try to avoid most of
- 25:54Speaker 1: them now. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:56Speaker 2: I've only liked one of his movies. Well, two of
- 26:00Speaker 2: his movies. I like the island and I liked Pain
- 26:02Speaker 2: and Gain.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I like the first half of the island.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, sure, sure.
- 26:06Speaker 1: The first half of the island is great. And then
- 26:08Speaker 1: the rest is just a bunch of crap.
- 26:09Speaker 2: It becomes a Michael Bay movie.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it becomes a Michael Bay movie. Like, what is
- 26:13Speaker 1: all this crap going on now? Go back to that
- 26:15Speaker 1: cool story that you had. Remember the story part?
- 26:18Speaker 2: No?
- 26:18Speaker 1: No, you don't remember. Okay, never mind.
- 26:21Speaker 7: So.
- 26:21Speaker 1: The wheat. Well, I was going to say, we also
- 26:25Speaker 1: veered away from your slime-covered hero.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Oh, it was so, yes. So it was so frustrating
- 26:33Speaker 2: to see Wheat, and then them just sort of cutting
- 26:36Speaker 2: back to talking, and then cutting back to Wheat, and
- 26:40Speaker 2: then the bad guys talking. And I was going like,
- 26:44Speaker 2: I mean, I was going like, uh. I was like, A,
- 26:48Speaker 2: you don't disagree with this guy. First of all. You
- 26:53Speaker 2: just gotta placate this guy. Because if you say, I
- 26:56Speaker 2: think that's a bad idea, you're instantly dead.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Even when it's about his own medical health. Sir, we
- 27:03Speaker 1: need to check. You could have all kinds of problems.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Screw your problems!
- 27:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I'm going like, good grief, man.
- 27:13Speaker 2: This guy is... really hard to work with.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I'm going to put in a grievance with HR. Absolutely.
- 27:22Speaker 1: This is uncalled for.
- 27:23Speaker 2: This is a toxic work environment on this spaceship.
- 27:27Speaker 1: The slime-filled area with tubes running everywhere is a toxic
- 27:31Speaker 1: work environment.
- 27:32Speaker 2: I was kind of disappointed, though. that they didn't bring
- 27:37Speaker 2: him back as kind of like the Zack Snyder version
- 27:39Speaker 2: of Darth Vader. You know, I wanted to see.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I think he would at least be like half Cyborg-y
- 27:45Speaker 1: or something. Yeah.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I mean, that's what I wanted to see.
- 27:48Speaker 2: I mean, if we're trying to do your version of
- 27:50Speaker 2: Star Wars, bud... Let's see your version of Darth Vader.
- 27:53Speaker 2: I would have really liked that.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Well, especially because it ended straight up like part three.
- 27:59Speaker 1: It's like, oh, and she killed him and left him
- 28:00Speaker 1: for dead. And as far as she knows, he's dead.
- 28:02Speaker 1: And oh, wait, he's back.
- 28:04Speaker 2: He was left for dead.
- 28:05Speaker 1: They hooked him to a bunch of machines. And now
- 28:07Speaker 1: he's back to be a badass. And it's like, except
- 28:09Speaker 1: he looks exactly the same.
- 28:10Speaker 9: Except he has a little scar.
- 28:12Speaker 2: I'm going like, dude, he got pummeled in the last movie.
- 28:17Speaker 1: The fact that they even address it where the other
- 28:20Speaker 1: guy's like, Oh, let me make comment about the titular
- 28:24Speaker 1: scar that you have. Yeah.
- 28:26Speaker 2: It was such an unimpressive scar. You know, it was
- 28:29Speaker 2: just like, I thought, didn't he have scars all over
- 28:31Speaker 2: his body already from all the tentacle monsters?
- 28:35Speaker 1: They have slime Neosporin in it. Oh, okay. And it's,
- 28:39Speaker 1: it's all good.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I'm just going to call that thing the Ravenator because
- 28:43Speaker 2: it's like, I just respect him, you know, to be
- 28:47Speaker 2: going on.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Um, Well, I also like in that moment, because I
- 28:51Speaker 1: was like, I don't remember this dude in the other movie.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Did Cassius just appear or Cassians or whatever this guy is,
- 28:59Speaker 1: the commander Cassius that shows up. While we're having sci-fi knockoff,
- 29:04Speaker 1: I was like, this dude is the most knockoff Dermot
- 29:07Speaker 1: Moroni I've ever seen. I was like, he's a little younger.
- 29:11Speaker 1: So he's like Dermot's little brother that they hired and.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I had I was like I'm gonna have to check
- 29:18Speaker 1: is he does he actually had the same last name
- 29:20Speaker 1: because I swear he seems just like him but he
- 29:22Speaker 1: does not have the same name at all so Alfonso
- 29:26Speaker 1: looks a lot like your your ghetto no more.
- 29:30Speaker 2: So so was that like the second in charge guy.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Yeah the other the only other guy that really had
- 29:35Speaker 1: a speaking role that was wearing his cool uniform and
- 29:38Speaker 1: was sort of his sidekick the whole rest of the movie. But, yeah,
- 29:41Speaker 1: I was like, I don't remember him last time, or
- 29:44Speaker 1: I would have made that smart-ass comment then, I'm assuming.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Right, right, for whatever reason. So, yeah, he's the one
- 29:49Speaker 2: that said, like, there's soldiers on the ground. The guy's like, yeah,
- 29:52Speaker 2: fuck them. Yeah.
- 29:54Speaker 1: She's like, um, thanks for taking care of your troops.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Yeah, right. Okay, for whatever reason, I don't, when I'm
- 30:00Speaker 2: thinking back on the movie, I don't see Delmont Maroney,
- 30:04Speaker 2: or whatever. I see, in all the scenes, all I
- 30:09Speaker 2: see is Tony Shalhoub.
- 30:12Speaker 1: That is a very different way to go.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Yeah, right. I'm going like, was Tony Shalhoub in this movie?
- 30:17Speaker 1: Because I really don't see how Monk could survive on that.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I mean, all that slime everywhere.
- 30:23Speaker 2: That's true.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Those tubes just going every which way. He is going
- 30:27Speaker 1: to lose his damn mind.
- 30:29Speaker 2: He's probably got a very zen quarters that he has
- 30:33Speaker 2: to go decompress at.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I would think just a white room with a
- 30:39Speaker 1: cot and that's it. Yeah, I think so. He sits
- 30:42Speaker 1: in silence and tries to decompress from all the gross sliminess.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. I mean, you know, that is kind of
- 30:50Speaker 2: nice about, you know, the bad guy spaceships. They're very orderly.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Space Nazis are like that. Yeah, yeah, right, right.
- 30:59Speaker 2: You go into the good guy's ship, it looks like
- 31:01Speaker 2: my place. You know, it just looks like... Quick aside,
- 31:05Speaker 2: I was watching... To talk about difference in filmmaking styles...
- 31:09Speaker 2: just looking at the, uh, crumbling white trash heap that
- 31:14Speaker 2: I live in, you know, no, we just, we've let
- 31:20Speaker 2: the place go a little bit. We've been sick. Um, but, uh, we, uh,
- 31:25Speaker 2: what was I trying to say? Ah, shit.
- 31:26Speaker 1: You live in a palace.
- 31:28Speaker 2: I live in a palace. Oh my gosh.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Okay.
- 31:30Speaker 2: We were looking right. Okay. No, I would look around
- 31:32Speaker 2: the house and I go like, oh my God, the
- 31:34Speaker 2: house looks like the house from close encounters of the
- 31:36Speaker 2: third kind.
- 31:37Speaker 1: And, um, As long as you're having mashed potatoes for dinner.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Yeah. And I was more like, OK, OK, look, we
- 31:42Speaker 2: got to clean up. We're looking like third kind. And
- 31:44Speaker 2: then we said, we got to watch Close Encounters of
- 31:46Speaker 2: the Third Kind. And we put it in and the
- 31:51Speaker 2: filmmaking was so good. And so 1970s and like choosing
- 31:56Speaker 2: your shots and maximizing each shot for not like freaking
- 32:02Speaker 2: Zack Snyder does it. Like, subtly, subtly, economy of shots,
- 32:10Speaker 2: beautifully photographed on film. And I was going like, this
- 32:14Speaker 2: is so good, my mind can't stand it.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I'm just saying, this dude ain't no Spielberg.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Dude, and I'm saying Spielberg in modern age, you know,
- 32:27Speaker 2: with all the new tricks, you know, Ready Player One
- 32:30Speaker 2: is guilty of the same stuff that we see from
- 32:33Speaker 2: Zack Snyder. Because there's just too much. There's no limitations.
- 32:39Speaker 2: But so it's just like a terrible, terrible lure for
- 32:45Speaker 2: filmmakers to do.
- 32:47Speaker 1: It's dangerous, especially when you become successful.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Because then you have the budget to have no limitations.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Whereas young Spielberg's building a tiny little model of Devil's
- 32:57Speaker 1: Tower because that's what he needed, you know?
- 33:00Speaker 2: That's right.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Nobody CG'd a damn thing because he needed to build
- 33:05Speaker 1: a model and make this shot work. Right, right. He
- 33:07Speaker 1: found a way to do it.
- 33:09Speaker 2: And it's amazing. I mean, on the good side, on
- 33:11Speaker 2: the good side, this modern filmmaking, if you look at
- 33:13Speaker 2: the credits of like a movie from 1975, it goes,
- 33:17Speaker 2: it takes about two minutes to go by. All right.
- 33:19Speaker 2: You watch the credits of like Rebel Moon to The Stargiver.
- 33:23Speaker 2: It is employed like. 7 million people, all right?
- 33:28Speaker 1: It is an industry in and of itself. Holy cow.
- 33:32Speaker 2: I mean, it might get all eaten by AI here,
- 33:36Speaker 2: you know, in a few minutes. But right now... I mean,
- 33:41Speaker 2: I know they work terrible, terrible hours to get these
- 33:43Speaker 2: movies done. Um, uh, but it was, it's incredible. Like
- 33:50Speaker 2: close encounters was probably made by, you know, and the credits,
- 33:54Speaker 2: you probably got like 200 people, not 50,000 people. Holy cow.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Um, It's pretty much all modern giant studio filmmaking. Yeah.
- 34:05Speaker 1: That's pretty much how it goes. So it is giving jobs.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 34:09Speaker 1: We complain that people don't have jobs and or they
- 34:11Speaker 1: don't want to work one or the other, but, but
- 34:13Speaker 1: this is at least supplying an outlet for somebody to
- 34:16Speaker 1: get a job. So that's, that's something.
- 34:18Speaker 2: That says something is a little makes it makes.
- 34:21Speaker 1: It to the job giver.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Oh, that's the name of the episode. Um, Right there. No, no, no.
- 34:32Speaker 2: So wheat. OK, so try to get back. All right.
- 34:35Speaker 2: All right. So wheat and then people taking talking back
- 34:40Speaker 2: and forth. The bad guy is not really doing anything.
- 34:43Speaker 2: But then I thought, OK, here's the scene that everybody
- 34:49Speaker 2: was asking for from the last movie. uh when they
- 34:53Speaker 2: said i don't like how little character development is this
- 34:58Speaker 2: movie so they beat in a scene where everybody just
- 35:04Speaker 2: shares their feelings all right and i was going to.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Get to the first one though she has her little
- 35:10Speaker 1: flashback reminiscing while they're still after they hook up which
- 35:14Speaker 1: at least we got some hooking up in this one
- 35:16Speaker 1: before that poor bastard just like had to like happily
- 35:20Speaker 1: look at her with this puppy dog eyes and she's
- 35:22Speaker 1: like dude I got people's ass to kick I ain't
- 35:24Speaker 1: got time to lay you get out of the way
- 35:26Speaker 1: so this time she's like I feel sorry for him
- 35:29Speaker 1: let's go screw and then she gives her a oh
- 35:33Speaker 1: yeah yeah but i mean look at that guy he's
- 35:36Speaker 1: he's like oh he's the most generically handsome dude like
- 35:40Speaker 1: he's totally handsome in some conventional way but even i'm
- 35:44Speaker 1: like dude you are so boring right and i'm like
- 35:47Speaker 1: i don't even care i know every girl in the
- 35:50Speaker 1: world's gonna be like yeah he's a nice guy but
- 35:53Speaker 1: i'm gonna go over here and screw this guy with
- 35:54Speaker 1: a weird scar because he's cooler So, yeah, that dude
- 35:58Speaker 1: takes the pity.
- 36:00Speaker 2: No, no, no. She is a modern polyamorous woman. She
- 36:07Speaker 2: likes all types of guys, and she does not feel
- 36:10Speaker 2: like she needs to be committed to one dude. So, yeah.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Then she gives her little flashback first.
- 36:17Speaker 2: But she gives her little flashback. I thought we had
- 36:19Speaker 2: already covered it in the last minute.
- 36:21Speaker 9: Well, we did, but then, like, they stopped, I guess.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Because before we had the outside with just her and
- 36:27Speaker 1: the princess, we didn't have this weird grand presentation, which
- 36:32Speaker 1: may be the most important portion of this movie that
- 36:35Speaker 1: I have to like raise my hand and be like, okay,
- 36:38Speaker 1: What's with the baghead musicians?
- 36:40Speaker 2: Oh, I love the baghead musicians. I thought it was
- 36:44Speaker 2: a David Lynchian kind of tune.
- 36:47Speaker 1: It's so out of place in this movie. I was like,
- 36:51Speaker 1: that shot could be cool somewhere. Not here.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I liked it. I liked it.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, baghead.
- 36:59Speaker 2: But I didn't understand why later....
- 37:02Speaker 1: The baghead soldiers?
- 37:03Speaker 2: The Baghead soldiers. I was going like, are they your citizens?
- 37:06Speaker 2: Is this like a traveling band? Like the Partridge family?
- 37:10Speaker 2: I don't understand. But I don't understand the significance of
- 37:12Speaker 2: the Baghead.
- 37:14Speaker 1: And they all have the insignia. So it's like the
- 37:17Speaker 1: state wants to come in and they're going to murder
- 37:20Speaker 1: you anyway. But they don't want you to see that
- 37:22Speaker 1: they're going to murder you. I don't know. Like it's so...
- 37:27Speaker 1: It's like it needs an explanation, but somebody didn't bother
- 37:30Speaker 1: to give an explanation. Or there's a nine-hour movie that
- 37:34Speaker 1: will have a two-hour extended story behind baghead people that
- 37:38Speaker 1: we will never really want to know about, but it'll
- 37:41Speaker 1: be there.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Obviously, you haven't read the novelization.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Well, I got the three-issue comic series.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Oh, okay, right. I think... Yeah.
- 37:54Speaker 1: I think.
- 37:56Speaker 2: I thought, great, great, I, Cary Elwes, great casting, I thought.
- 38:01Speaker 2: I mean, he didn't have to say much.
- 38:02Speaker 1: I don't even know that I recognized him at the moment.
- 38:05Speaker 1: I was looking back and went, oh, that was, oh, yeah.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's what I did, too. I said, by God,
- 38:10Speaker 2: is that Cary Elwes? And the credits confirmed. So I
- 38:15Speaker 2: was like, oh, yeah, cool, you know.
- 38:17Speaker 1: I thought I'd get our little space coup.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Oh yeah. And she's filled with magic fairy dust. And
- 38:22Speaker 2: I was going like, that's, that's so ridiculous. That's like, and.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Then we didn't do anything with it. She just glows
- 38:29Speaker 1: and then dies, I guess. Question mark. But then as
- 38:34Speaker 1: far as we know, she dies. And then the whole
- 38:36Speaker 1: rest of the story, everybody's like, and she's dead. And
- 38:38Speaker 1: then I was like, shouldn't we have at least like
- 38:41Speaker 1: done a little more so that we knew something was
- 38:44Speaker 1: going somewhere with that or, Explain there's some other magical
- 38:49Speaker 1: person with glowy fairy powers that we... I don't know.
- 38:52Speaker 1: It just.
- 38:53Speaker 2: I was just like.
- 38:53Speaker 1: It seemed like, not to jump to the end, but
- 38:56Speaker 1: the other half of that scene at the end, or
- 38:59Speaker 1: the answer to that scene, just sort of comes out
- 39:01Speaker 1: of nowhere, and only because we need it.
- 39:05Speaker 4: Wow.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Well, I thought that was kind of unnecessary, the fairy
- 39:10Speaker 2: dust going everywhere, but in Zack Snyder's mind, I was
- 39:13Speaker 2: going like, he was going like, how can we... Zachify
- 39:17Speaker 2: this more. I think when the symbol of universal peace
- 39:23Speaker 2: gets shot, fairy dust should come.
- 39:28Speaker 1: And then we immediately scapegoat that girl oh how dare
- 39:33Speaker 1: you murder her when we told.
- 39:34Speaker 2: You i loved it i know it was like wait
- 39:37Speaker 2: a minute are you guys lying to me what's going
- 39:39Speaker 2: on here it was.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Like within seconds you screwed her.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Over yeah man so quick yeah he's kind of like
- 39:45Speaker 2: mask face he's looks like he's not wearing a mask
- 39:48Speaker 2: but he looks like he's wearing a mask of I mean,
- 39:52Speaker 2: it was weird. I don't know what's up with that
- 39:54Speaker 2: guy's head. But yeah, they can really... Okay. We're getting
- 40:00Speaker 2: into neck picking. You can basically... walk through and escape big,
- 40:06Speaker 2: giant facility starships with pretty much no problem, okay? Yeah,
- 40:10Speaker 2: that happens. She gets out of that situation by shooting
- 40:14Speaker 2: some people, and again, they have the stormtrooper problem of
- 40:19Speaker 2: not being able to hit anybody. I mean, it's like those,
- 40:22Speaker 2: oh man, this is becoming rapid fire. Those stormtroopers can't,
- 40:26Speaker 2: whatever those things are, There were lots of them against
- 40:30Speaker 2: people with scythes, and they could not shoot them for
- 40:34Speaker 2: anything because they had a rock in front of them.
- 40:37Speaker 2: And then the bad guys got totally fooled by holes
- 40:40Speaker 2: in the ground. And though they have see-through, heat-seeking technology,
- 40:47Speaker 2: and I was going like, oh, man, fooled again by holes. Yeah.
- 40:51Speaker 1: I mean, they went old school, yo.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 1: It's doing jungle warfare. It's like, nom, dude.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I was like, this is nom. That was going.
- 40:58Speaker 2: I was like, this is like nom.
- 40:59Speaker 1: This is like nom.
- 41:01Speaker 2: The Amish can dig a hole, and so the holes
- 41:03Speaker 2: will defeat the interstellar people. So there was... And then,
- 41:09Speaker 2: you know, them going into the spaceship with, like, this
- 41:12Speaker 2: old two-year, don't they have, like, don't they check the
- 41:16Speaker 2: license before they let you dock into the spaceport?
- 41:19Speaker 1: I mean, not to reference any other space properties, but again,
- 41:25Speaker 1: there should have at least been the line of, Well,
- 41:27Speaker 1: the colds are old, but they check out, sir.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Something.
- 41:30Speaker 1: We at least addressed that in some other sci-fi movie.
- 41:33Speaker 12: I mean, doesn't it come up and just say, like,
- 41:36Speaker 12: don't they have some kind of better security requirements than
- 41:39Speaker 12: just letting anybody fly into the spaceship if they have
- 41:42Speaker 12: a model?
- 41:43Speaker 9: Well, it looks like those other ships.
- 41:45Speaker 1: That's how she snuck in.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I mean, sneaking in and sneaking around in
- 41:51Speaker 2: this futuristic spaceship? No problem. No problem. No problem at all.
- 41:56Speaker 2: And did you know that these intergalactic spaceships are fueled
- 41:59Speaker 2: on coal? That was.
- 42:02Speaker 1: We were jumping way ahead. But yeah, I was totally like,
- 42:05Speaker 1: if she gets in that room, I'm like, are they shoveling.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Coal in there?
- 42:08Speaker 1: What?
- 42:09Speaker 2: Is this the Titanic?
- 42:10Speaker 1: What are they doing? Is this a train heading down
- 42:14Speaker 1: to Petticoat Junction? What are we doing?
- 42:16Speaker 2: Zack Snyder loves physical labor. And I mean, he just
- 42:22Speaker 2: loves it. The wheat, the coal, everybody in this movie
- 42:26Speaker 2: looks like a Abercrombie model. You know, they all look
- 42:29Speaker 2: like Sears catalog people. I mean, or like magazine people.
- 42:34Speaker 2: I mean, I guess they look like Zack Snyder people,
- 42:36Speaker 2: which are just like.
- 42:38Speaker 1: But you also in the current version of them, you
- 42:41Speaker 1: have to realize this is how the time shift works.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you a story, but way back then,
- 42:48Speaker 1: I had long hair. And that's how you know it
- 42:51Speaker 1: happened way back then. Because everybody in modern times has
- 42:56Speaker 1: short hair. Because that's what we do now when we're battling.
- 43:00Speaker 1: We don't have time for long hair.
- 43:01Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Except that pretty prince dude that rides Griffins. He still
- 43:05Speaker 1: has long hair. But everybody else has to cut their hair.
- 43:07Speaker 2: But he has short hair. That's how you know it
- 43:10Speaker 2: was a flashback. Check the haircut. Check the haircut.
- 43:15Speaker 1: I was like, when it happened more than once. When
- 43:18Speaker 1: it was like three times, I was like, oh, this
- 43:21Speaker 1: is a flashback. Look how different your hair is.
- 43:24Speaker 2: That's right. They just put the same wig on everybody.
- 43:27Speaker 1: But even Titus had like a cool, fresh, tight look
- 43:31Speaker 1: to him. And I was like, oh, man, look how
- 43:33Speaker 1: cool he is in battle getting his dudes killed. Look
- 43:36Speaker 1: how cool his hair is. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 43:38Speaker 2: I thought, oh, so he led the troops back in
- 43:42Speaker 2: the 90s.
- 43:44Speaker 1: When he had his fresh do.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I was like. i don't know it was
- 43:52Speaker 2: hilarious i mean it did look good it looked good
- 43:57Speaker 2: but it looked very nice.
- 43:58Speaker 1: It was very odd in space but you know i
- 44:02Speaker 1: also thought that when he came back to the new
- 44:04Speaker 1: era and he was wearing his like space kangle and
- 44:07Speaker 1: i was just like okay dude whatever it's like I
- 44:11Speaker 1: was fine with the other people wearing Amish hats because
- 44:14Speaker 1: they're like straw hats and they look like they fit
- 44:16Speaker 1: in this world. But when he had his like newspaper
- 44:19Speaker 1: boy hat on, I was just like, that feels so
- 44:22Speaker 1: earthy and earthy of a different era. I kept trying
- 44:26Speaker 1: to be like, just don't look at it. Just don't
- 44:28Speaker 1: look at it. Don't look at it.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody's, uh, yeah, everybody's, I mean, dude, the costume,
- 44:35Speaker 2: everybody's struck, I'm schizophrenic, I'm like, you know, everybody struck
- 44:40Speaker 2: a mean silhouette in this movie. It almost looked like
- 44:44Speaker 2: concept art, you know, it was just like, everything was so, uh,
- 44:50Speaker 2: underlined all caps 16 uh.
- 44:53Speaker 1: That's what he does but i will say this time
- 44:57Speaker 1: there's a new monkey wrench thrown in and it happens
- 45:00Speaker 1: right around this point once we get back to the
- 45:02Speaker 1: town and we start introducing the new people to the
- 45:05Speaker 1: old farmy people and i'm like from the very first
- 45:09Speaker 1: scene when they're even kind of together i'm like okay
- 45:13Speaker 1: what are they doing with lightsaber lady and the kid
- 45:16Speaker 1: Cause I'm like, I swear they're shooting it. Like they've
- 45:20Speaker 1: got like a weird romance shot. Like this is a
- 45:27Speaker 1: smoldering romance. I mean, that's the way they put it together.
- 45:31Speaker 1: And I kept going. Zach, what are you doing with
- 45:34Speaker 1: these two? I don't know what your plan is.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Okay. There was a moment where I was like, does
- 45:39Speaker 2: he like her as a mom or has he got
- 45:41Speaker 2: a crush on her? You know?
- 45:43Speaker 1: I mean, if any of those questions were answered, yes,
- 45:47Speaker 1: we could have a real answer, but they never fully
- 45:50Speaker 1: explain it. Like the most logical would be he's an
- 45:54Speaker 1: orphan kid and like, he seems super cool. I wish
- 45:56Speaker 1: she was my mom. And like, it would make sense.
- 45:59Speaker 1: If it was more of a maternal sort of a
- 46:01Speaker 1: relationship with her and he just looks up to her.
- 46:05Speaker 1: But again, that is just not how it's shot or edited.
- 46:08Speaker 1: All right.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Well, that's no. And that is no. The story context
- 46:13Speaker 2: you got is right. He is like an orphan kid
- 46:15Speaker 2: and she's getting the character arc is that she gets
- 46:18Speaker 2: to regain her maternal protection.
- 46:22Speaker 1: So she's really is what you're saying. To steal from
- 46:26Speaker 1: another space series. She's Aliens era Ripley.
- 46:29Speaker 2: You did not give this movie a chance. Alright, but....
- 46:34Speaker 1: But at least we get that with Ripley. Like, it's explained.
- 46:37Speaker 1: It makes sense. With this one, I'm just like, I don't...
- 46:40Speaker 1: I mean, I feel like that's what you want me
- 46:41Speaker 1: to think, but I'm like, why do you want me
- 46:43Speaker 1: to think?
- 46:44Speaker 2: No, no. It's a maternal thing, but because.
- 46:53Speaker 2: But because Zack Snyder shoots the hell out of every shot,
- 46:58Speaker 2: you don't know. Why does this have so much like, like, uh,
- 47:03Speaker 2: such a sensuous feel of every brain, you know?
- 47:06Speaker 1: Which, again, is not what you want when you're dealing
- 47:08Speaker 1: with children.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Right, exactly.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Stop doing it for those scenes, Zack. Stop. I hate.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Exactly. He doesn't turn it off. Zack Snyder never turns
- 47:18Speaker 2: it off.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Brain and children, stop it!
- 47:21Speaker 2: All shot, like, you know, like this hyper-romantic hyper-reality.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Like it's a perfume ad.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Like everything's a damn.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Like everything's a million dollar perfume ad where it's all
- 47:35Speaker 1: glossy and sensuous and you can't wait to come out
- 47:38Speaker 1: of the water naked and oh this child's here and
- 47:41Speaker 1: that's that child holding a bag of grain is here
- 47:46Speaker 1: and i'm okay with that too like stop.
- 47:48Speaker 2: It yeah yeah no it's It's like, yeah, I know.
- 47:55Speaker 2: He's like the director version of Jeff Goldblum in interviews.
- 48:02Speaker 2: He's just like, ooh, that feels so good. I like
- 48:04Speaker 2: the texture of that. Ooh, yeah, let's shoot that. I'm
- 48:07Speaker 2: going like, Zach, man, dude, we get it. You're like,
- 48:12Speaker 2: you know.
- 48:13Speaker 1: You're selling us on apartments now. We know. This is
- 48:16Speaker 1: a great apartment.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Zack Snyder would be number one at Amgo or some
- 48:22Speaker 2: kind of pyramid scheme.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Apartments.com. These apartments are so great, man. Look how I
- 48:29Speaker 1: shot them. These are awesome. You can't afford them. That's
- 48:32Speaker 1: why you're squatting in an empty house. So anyway. The
- 48:41Speaker 1: whole little beginning, which I'm afraid that my answer to
- 48:45Speaker 1: all my questions of why nothing makes sense is just
- 48:49Speaker 1: wait till the Zack comes out. Because I'm afraid there
- 48:52Speaker 1: is going to be an extra hour and a half
- 48:54Speaker 1: of backstory of Lightsaber Lady and why she's like that
- 48:58Speaker 1: and scenes of these two together having talks of like, well,
- 49:02Speaker 1: if I was your mom, we sure wouldn't have these problems.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I'm afraid there is more is the sad part.
- 49:08Speaker 2: No, I mean... I'm not interested in seeing the extended cut.
- 49:13Speaker 1: That's what I thought by the end of this, too.
- 49:14Speaker 1: I was like, well, when we talked before, I was like, oh, God,
- 49:17Speaker 1: I'm going to have to watch these again later. And
- 49:19Speaker 1: by the time I got to the end of this one,
- 49:21Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, I think I'm good. Like, I
- 49:23Speaker 1: think I got it. I'm good.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Again, like the first one, I get what they're, I
- 49:29Speaker 2: get the backstory because I've seen other science fiction movies.
- 49:33Speaker 2: It's not self-contained in the movie, but that's not what
- 49:36Speaker 2: this movie is. I mean, it's basically like, really expensive, uh,
- 49:41Speaker 2: fan fiction, but it's, uh, it's also just, it kind
- 49:45Speaker 2: of like, you gotta kind of have like a bill, uh,
- 49:47Speaker 2: you know, uh, a building blocks of like the, the,
- 49:51Speaker 2: the genre to really understand what they were trying to
- 49:53Speaker 2: get at, you know, without.
- 49:55Speaker 1: I feel like there was more of that. The last one,
- 49:57Speaker 1: like to, to kind of compare the two now that
- 50:00Speaker 1: we've watched both of them. I was like, last time
- 50:02Speaker 1: I remember kind of giving the other one shit because
- 50:05Speaker 1: it was so like drawback, right? It was so like,
- 50:10Speaker 1: This is the Seven Samurai.
- 50:13Speaker 2: This is.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Let's take our Western plan and turn it into... What
- 50:18Speaker 1: is the Western way? The... Three Amigos? Yes, that's exactly
- 50:25Speaker 1: what it is. Well, I mean, by the end, it
- 50:27Speaker 1: kind of is. You get your little band of townspeople
- 50:31Speaker 1: together and they defeat the overpowering El Guapo. He is
- 50:35Speaker 1: kind of like El Guapo. So, all right, you're right.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Three Amigos.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:39Speaker 1: We've seen this in samurai movies. We've seen this in
- 50:42Speaker 1: our cowboy movies. So like, we kind of know this pattern.
- 50:45Speaker 1: It's also your basic, let's put the band together. Like
- 50:48Speaker 1: it just drags it out for the whole movie. So
- 50:50Speaker 1: I was already like kind of knocking it for doing that.
- 50:54Speaker 1: But then we get to this one and we don't
- 50:56Speaker 1: even have that familiar thing anymore. So I was like,
- 50:59Speaker 1: by the end of this one, I was like, I
- 51:00Speaker 1: don't know. I don't even feel like it ripped anything
- 51:02Speaker 1: off in this.
- 51:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Just like a big drag on flashback for the first half. Yeah.
- 51:07Speaker 1: And then just kind of a generic, like war movie
- 51:10Speaker 1: scenario for the second half with some sci-fi sprinkled in
- 51:15Speaker 1: and that's pretty much it. So I was like, I
- 51:16Speaker 1: don't know. I feel like it didn't even bring as
- 51:18Speaker 1: much as the first one. Kind of.
- 51:21Speaker 2: I feel like it was not overpacked like the first one,
- 51:24Speaker 2: you know?
- 51:24Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 51:25Speaker 1: The first one was so much that like, you're like, well,
- 51:27Speaker 1: no wonder it's two movies. And this one I'm like,
- 51:30Speaker 1: did we even need two movies? Yeah. Like there's so
- 51:33Speaker 1: little kind of really going on in this one.
- 51:36Speaker 2: And the second one, the first hour, I really felt like,
- 51:39Speaker 2: at hour 40, a minute 40, I was like, I
- 51:44Speaker 2: can't take any more farming and I.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Can't take no more flashbacks.
- 51:49Speaker 2: Yeah. And I can't take a, and then, and then
- 51:53Speaker 2: a minute 40, uh, they launched into the breakfast club scene.
- 52:00Speaker 2: And I'm just like, man, this is like, I kept
- 52:02Speaker 2: expecting one of them to say like, and I pulled
- 52:04Speaker 2: the trunk and the light didn't come on.
- 52:06Speaker 1: And, uh, Well, and then when the long-haired prince dude
- 52:09Speaker 1: taped that guy's butt together, that was hilarious. I mean,
- 52:12Speaker 1: you gotta give him that. That was hilarious. But... But
- 52:21Speaker 1: then we even get the awkwardness of, like, we.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Like.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Titus knows her backstory, and he's like, no, you don't
- 52:29Speaker 1: want to tell us anything else?
- 52:31Speaker 2: Anything else? Oh, come on.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Come on. Do I need to just go ahead and
- 52:35Speaker 1: call you out?
- 52:36Speaker 2: Dude, that's like the Judd Hirsch, Ali Sheet. No, no,
- 52:40Speaker 2: the Emilio Estevez, Ali Sheet-y scene where he goes like,
- 52:42Speaker 2: come on, tell me what's going on. And she's like,
- 52:44Speaker 2: they ignored me.
- 52:47Speaker 1: No, it was more of the Claire thing. Claire's like, no,
- 52:49Speaker 1: I don't have any story. I'm a good girl. And
- 52:52Speaker 1: she's like, are you?
- 52:53Speaker 2: Really?
- 52:54Speaker 1: Is that what you're going to go with? Because I
- 52:57Speaker 1: know who you really are, Claire.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 52:59Speaker 1: You're a fat girl trapped.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Like, that's kind.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Of where we're going.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Just answer the question. Just answer the question, space girl.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I was like, so yeah, it was weird. And especially
- 53:10Speaker 1: as the audience, because we know she's lying. We just
- 53:13Speaker 1: saw her flashback. That's the reason she's not doing it,
- 53:16Speaker 1: because we just saw that scene. She already did her flashback.
- 53:19Speaker 1: You guys weren't there. If you would have all slept
- 53:21Speaker 1: with her, you would have gotten her flashback scene.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 53:25Speaker 1: We're missing the orgy scene.
- 53:26Speaker 2: That's what it is. That's going to be it.
- 53:28Speaker 1: That's the X-rated Insta-17 version.
- 53:31Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 53:34Speaker 6: I think.
- 53:34Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 53:35Speaker 4: That scene.
- 53:35Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 53:39Speaker 2: It's very disingenuous of her to... Very... Kind of not
- 53:43Speaker 2: cool that these four people just bared their souls, all right?
- 53:48Speaker 2: And came out here to help her and said, like, yeah,
- 53:52Speaker 2: this is the worst thing that ever happened to me.
- 53:54Speaker 2: And she's like, yeah, no, I'm good. I've kind of
- 53:56Speaker 2: had a pretty normal life up to this point.
- 53:59Speaker 1: That's what I said, especially these people. Like, if it
- 54:01Speaker 1: was just a random farmer or whatever. But I'm like,
- 54:04Speaker 1: these are the people you... flew across the freaking galaxy
- 54:09Speaker 1: and drug them here with you. You suckered them into
- 54:12Speaker 1: joining your little band of weirdos. And then when it
- 54:15Speaker 1: comes time to share your secrets, you're like, um, one
- 54:19Speaker 1: time I like, ate a grape at the grocery and
- 54:23Speaker 1: like i totally didn't even pay for it they're like
- 54:27Speaker 1: oh i don't know if we can work with you.
- 54:29Speaker 2: I know the space girl you.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Are i don't know if we can trust you you
- 54:33Speaker 1: seem kind of shady.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Yeah yeah yeah absolutely i'm gonna like a little transparency
- 54:38Speaker 2: would be would have been good you know.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Especially for these people who you're bonded with through battle
- 54:43Speaker 1: and you're about to go give your lives together.
- 54:46Speaker 2: You've already gone through a lot together and everything you're
- 54:49Speaker 2: not gonna lower your guard and just say like oh
- 54:51Speaker 2: yeah i killed the the symbol of peace and uh
- 54:54Speaker 2: for the galaxy my bad you know again even.
- 54:57Speaker 1: If this was like halfway in the first movie it
- 54:59Speaker 1: would almost make sense but this far in it's like.
- 55:02Speaker 2: What are you doing yeah yeah yeah so i mean
- 55:07Speaker 2: She's got intimacy issues.
- 55:09Speaker 1: She certainly does. Yeah.
- 55:13Speaker 2: Um, so yeah, that scene went on and then finally,
- 55:17Speaker 2: then finally, finally. And, and really, I don't remember what, Oh,
- 55:22Speaker 2: some of the flashbacks were, were, I liked, uh, I
- 55:25Speaker 2: like the different locations. I like Victorian England with griffins world.
- 55:31Speaker 2: I was going like, oh, this is like old Star
- 55:33Speaker 2: Trek where they just had like a bunch of costumes.
- 55:35Speaker 2: You know, we got some Hitler costumes or we got
- 55:36Speaker 2: some Old West costumes. This is like the, we got
- 55:40Speaker 2: some Victorian England costumes. So this is Victorian England planet,
- 55:44Speaker 2: you know? And, but I was like, oh, I like
- 55:47Speaker 2: Victorian England planet. That's pretty cool. We've got griffins. Yeah,
- 55:50Speaker 2: I love that juggernaut or whatever that big ship crashing
- 55:55Speaker 2: through the skyscraper.
- 55:56Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, cool.
- 55:58Speaker 2: So then now, all right, so we're halfway through the
- 56:00Speaker 2: movie action starting up. I, and I'm like, uh, this
- 56:03Speaker 2: is the turning point for me. Uh, uh, Brian, where
- 56:07Speaker 2: I come crawling back to Zack Snyder's like, I'm sorry.
- 56:11Speaker 2: I was so mean about the first part of your movie.
- 56:13Speaker 1: I mean, I still had some flashback questions.
- 56:17Speaker 2: Like, okay.
- 56:18Speaker 1: So in your Griffin planet, Griffin door, we'll call it. Um, so, What?
- 56:26Speaker 1: The queen needs to preserve the Bud Line by throwing
- 56:29Speaker 1: herself off a building?
- 56:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I was a little confused.
- 56:33Speaker 1: How are you saving your people by offing yourself? I
- 56:37Speaker 1: don't know. I just didn't even know what he was
- 56:38Speaker 1: trying to say with that one.
- 56:40Speaker 2: I don't either. I don't either. I don't know why
- 56:42Speaker 2: they did it.
- 56:43Speaker 1: On that same note, we get to the flashback of
- 56:45Speaker 1: Lightsaber Lady, and I'm like, cool. And then I'm like, so...
- 56:49Speaker 1: why do you have to cut your own arms off? Like,
- 56:52Speaker 1: don't get me wrong. Those robot arms are badass. I
- 56:54Speaker 1: will give you that.
- 56:56Speaker 2: But I was down with it.
- 56:58Speaker 1: I was like, I even, I even kind of like
- 57:00Speaker 1: appreciate the like self-sacrifice of like, if, if we had
- 57:04Speaker 1: enough of a story to make that like, I have
- 57:07Speaker 1: to do this. to make this you know sword work
- 57:10Speaker 1: and the only way i can do it is to
- 57:12Speaker 1: off the take off my arms and then if i
- 57:15Speaker 1: do that i will avenge my family yes okay if
- 57:18Speaker 1: they like spelled out even a little of that i'd
- 57:20Speaker 1: be like all right that makes sense why she did
- 57:22Speaker 1: what she did and i stand with her you're a
- 57:25Speaker 1: badass for making that call but dude we don't get
- 57:28Speaker 1: any of that we're just like no and then you
- 57:31Speaker 1: got it off my hands You got it, man. You
- 57:35Speaker 1: got it.
- 57:36Speaker 2: You deciphered the code there that they were telling. That's
- 57:41Speaker 2: exactly the movie.
- 57:42Speaker 1: There's still just slightly too much guesswork on my part.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Just give me a reason and I'll go along with you,
- 57:51Speaker 1: especially when she has badass robot arms, which she does.
- 57:55Speaker 2: The only thing I had to... Took exception with that scene.
- 57:58Speaker 2: I thought that scene was awesome. And I thought her
- 57:59Speaker 2: backstory was awesome. I was like, yeah. I was thinking
- 58:03Speaker 2: that shouldn't she like measure or something before cutting?
- 58:07Speaker 1: That's what I thought too. I was like, what if
- 58:09Speaker 1: one's like six inches off? Like it sticks out way
- 58:12Speaker 1: longer than the other. Yeah, yeah.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Measure, measure twice. Cut once.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Slice your arm off once.
- 58:17Speaker 2: One slice your arm off once. I was going like,
- 58:19Speaker 2: oh man, she got really lucky there. You know, I'm
- 58:20Speaker 2: just saying. She would have been all lopsided and everything.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Unless the arms are so smart, they like auto adjust
- 58:27Speaker 1: and like readjust so that they're exactly the same thing
- 58:31Speaker 1: on both sides. We'll give the technology that it's smarter
- 58:34Speaker 1: than dumb people. We've hit the point you already said
- 58:37Speaker 1: we were at the turning point, but it's also like
- 58:40Speaker 1: coincidentally at a very specific point that I was waiting
- 58:44Speaker 1: for that. I like discuss the last movie that I
- 58:48Speaker 1: was like, Why isn't there's this big buildup and these
- 58:52Speaker 1: big visual like key moments that are like, ah, this
- 58:56Speaker 1: is what this whole thing is going to be about.
- 58:58Speaker 1: And I remember the whole last movie going, ah, it
- 59:01Speaker 1: sucks that we didn't get enough time with James. So
- 59:05Speaker 1: I'm like, we get to the end and I'm like,
- 59:06Speaker 1: okay well i mean we didn't get much with the
- 59:08Speaker 1: first one but he comes back at the end of
- 59:10Speaker 1: that one i'm like so the whole next movie we're
- 59:12Speaker 1: gonna be hanging out with james and he's gonna be
- 59:14Speaker 1: cool he's the robot the antler's robot.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Jimmy bud jimmy jimmy the robot right.
- 59:25Speaker 1: It's Anthony and he had a voiceover, but we didn't
- 59:28Speaker 1: see him. Like he just lurked around for shots here
- 59:31Speaker 1: and there. And I kept going there. Okay. There he is.
- 59:34Speaker 1: Now he's going to come in and nope. He disappeared again.
- 59:36Speaker 2: All right.
- 59:36Speaker 1: And then like 20 minutes later, it's like, there he
- 59:38Speaker 1: is lurking some more. All right, here he comes. He's
- 59:41Speaker 1: going to, nope. He left again. It is 54 minutes
- 59:45Speaker 1: in before he shows up and has actual dialogue with someone. Okay.
- 59:50Speaker 1: What the hell is that? Dude.
- 59:53Speaker 2: I love, okay, again, I love this movie. All right,
- 59:57Speaker 2: so I love- I think.
- 59:59Speaker 1: You're convincing yourself you love this movie.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Well, I really enjoy that this warrior robot spent five
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: seconds in Amish paradise and went total hippie grendola, mountain magic.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Robot antler wearing crazy.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Antler wearing storm the capital this guy like got on
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: that planet and said like my whole freaking life has
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: been a lie and look at these mountain people all
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: at one with nature and using their hands and you
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: know what but you know what i'm uh kind of
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: more of a feeler, not really a doer.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: I'm a tech guy, you know. I feel like I'm
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: connected to the internets and all, but I want to
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: be out here connected to the trees and the antelopes and,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: Things of that nature. Yeah, and I don't really do
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: work now. I mean, I know I could, like, probably
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: like do this entire field and like half the time
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: and my.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Muscles wouldn't be sore because i don't have any so
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: i'd be like the best person to be doing all
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: this physical labor and those.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: Guys right i and i don't have like hopes or
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: dreams i am basically what you tell me to be
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: so uh you know uh i i could like totally
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: do this with no problem but you.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Know i still feel like that dynamic is the most
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: interesting thing in this entire two movie arc And we
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: never really get to it.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: No, no.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Because I do feel like that moment at the very
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: beginning of the last movie where he's like, oh, these
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: people want me to kill these innocent people. And like,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: I'm technically a robot, but I'm actually kind of a...
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: awakened robot and i i can't do that dave moment
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: and now i'm like i can make my own decisions
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: and i've decided you guys that were in charge of
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: me are wrong life is more important i understand life
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: and death all of a sudden and i'm going to
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: choose a side and like that is amazing like that
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: is a.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Reason for a whole story yeah.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: And i kept thinking that's where we're going and two
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: movies later i'm like and when do we.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Get to the next The guys, they don't get to it.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Because even here, he shows up 54 minutes in, and
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: then he's just like, yeah, you know you're going to lose, right?
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: Yeah, he was a real downer. Yeah, he was a
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: real downer.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Of all the people and our robots, I thought you
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: would be the one that'd be like, well, now that
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I've awakened and I know right from wrong, let's go
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: do the right thing. But he was just.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Like, nah. nah man i'm just gonna be up here
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: like you know filling the vibes and stuff you know
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: i'm not really i'm really part of your culture you
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: know but oh my god.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: So anyway that was like a huge thing that i
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: was like yeah noticed in the first half and we
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: finally get to him showing up and all he has
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: is like one downer scene and then comes back for
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: a kick-ass battle that once again is about two minutes
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: long and then we never get a payoff.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Which Yeah, yeah. Well, I was thinking, yeah, I was
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: thinking we're going to get more Jimmy. I like the
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: battle sequence. I was on its side, man. I was
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: going like, oh, yeah, Jimmy showed up.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Here we go. He's going to kick some ass. And
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: he does. And he does. But for two minutes, and
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: then we're back to like, oh. Now we watch a
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: bunch of farmers running around again.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:33Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: With sides like killing an intergalactic well-trained army. That was
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: probably where I was just like, I get it. It's
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: David and Goliath. I get it. It's kind of like Vietnam.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: I get what you're doing.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: We get it. I get it. I get it. But man,
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: you made the discrepancy so huge. And yeah, you know,
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: when I was eight and, It made sense that you
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: could fight an intergalactic army with rocks and bows and arrows.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: But this time I was just like, you know, I
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: think my shift has changed a little bit. I mean,
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: I know we got kicked. I know Vietnam and Afghanistan
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: didn't go our way. But, you know, that took years
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: of like wearing the machine down with the constant sand
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: in the gears. And these guys were so hopelessly outmatched.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: And I don't care where you put your grain. I mean,
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: I was thinking, why didn't they just send like, you know, 20,
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: you know, what, probe droids out and just.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Bless the hell out of the people.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: Bless the hell out of the people.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Save the grain. Pick up the grain, throw it in
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: the ship, go home.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, it just seems like there was probably
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: so much technology they could have used just to wipe
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: those farmers out with absolutely no problem. But they're using
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: this outdated march-in and a single-file line. can't shoot shit that's.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: What i thought with those laser guns and the way
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: they shot i was like this is just an episode
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: of gi joe now because there's a laser blast going
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: past never hitting anyone.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: Never hitting anyone.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Like just an episode of gi joe is only about
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: the cool characters i.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: Mean yeah yeah yeah you're right right and i was
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: going like don't they have like And I was just going, like,
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: why are they just sending these people? I mean, I
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: just was like, what is going on with their military
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: strategy here? And why don't they use any technology? And
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: then finally, like, the tanks kind of showed up.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: The knockoff ADATs, you mean?
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, the knockoff ADATs.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: The squatty ADATs. Which is technically a better plan, as
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: we've seen. ADATs just get knocked over.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: Oh, all of them.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: If you have any sense to the... the physical way
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: that it works yeah so it makes more sense for
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: it to walk closer to the ground i will give
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: you that but it's not like we haven't seen that before.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: Right right but yeah so it was kind of like
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: world war ii you know howards there's you know and
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: it's just like uh i was like man those laser
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: cannons are so um uh powerful that i don't think
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: hiding behind a uh a a wooden post is really
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: going to do much against that. I mean, that's like
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: those lasers would like rip through any shelter that they have,
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: you know, and.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: You would think if it was a good, good laser. Yeah.
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: I mean, that's like some mega cannon laser. I was
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: going like, oh man, this is over. But they kept
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: dodging that kind of firepower by hiding behind like thatch huts.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: And I was going like, this is, Stop them. Stop them.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: And holes. Let's not forget holes and the power of
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: a covered ditch, you know, to bring an empire to
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: its knees. So this sounds like I don't like this movie.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: I think you keep convincing yourself that you love it.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: But with every step of the way, you're like, except
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: for this and.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: This and this. There was literally a scene. But, see,
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: I get caught up in it. And there's literally a
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: part in this movie where I'm just going, like, I
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: heard myself chanting, like, action, action, action, action, action. You know?
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: And I was just, like, I was happy. Even though
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: this was, like, the land battle was.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: I had to kind of say, like, look, this is, like,
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: so one-sided. And I don't care how much you want
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: to romanticize physical labor and the farm, life on the farm, Zach.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: These people would have been mowed down. And, you know,
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: the fact that they're all so... This is what I'm saying.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: There's no subtext or subtlety in a Zack Snyder movie.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: Or characters, really. Like anything outside of our little band
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: of heroes, they're just generic farmer number three comes running
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: out with a sign.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's the whole... the whole village is in
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: perfect harmony with each other. And all the bad guys
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: are in perfect harmony with each other. You know, but
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: they work for an asshole. But, you know, there's no dissent.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: There's no this. There's no that. I mean, everybody's like,
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: so idealized.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Where's the deserter? Where's one of the nachos? It's like,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: screw this! All my guys are getting killed! And just
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: runs off into the woods somewhere.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Where's the person in the village saying, like, dude, these
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: guys are gonna come in and murder us, other than Jimmy.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: You know, who's the one person. You know, he's like,
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: I'm going to hide up in the mountains, man. You
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: guys are just going to get murdered.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: You humans are dumb.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: Golly, come on. I don't care how idealistic you are.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: You know, I mean, this is like a massacre about
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: to happen.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: I'll show up for two minutes. I will jump and
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: do my superhero landing.
- 1:08:56Speaker 7: And then.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I'll kill a couple of guys and I'm out. You
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: guys handle the rest.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: How they handled that scene, though. I was kind of
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: just going like, man, this is what kind of. This
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: is what CG visual effects can look like when you've got, like,
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: Netflix money going into it. I mean, it was just, like,
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: I thought it was so much better than, like, the
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: last several Marvel movies, you know? I was like, wow,
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: this is freaking great looking. I mean, that's my damn problem, Brian.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: I watch these Zack Snyder movies, and I got all
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: these problems with them, but I go, god damn, so
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: good looking.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: I still feel like there's just a weird sheen to it.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: The whole thing, like even the humans, you know, it's
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: like everything just has this weird glow almost that does
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: makes everything look unrealistic that I'm like, yes, at moments
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: it just makes it look fancy and cool. But other
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: times I'm like, it also makes even the most regular
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: old sitting around the campfire scenes look fake too. And
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm pretty sure these are real people, but
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: they also look fake. Like everything looks fake.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: No, you're right. You're right. I mean, it's like, we
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: mentioned closing in counters. Closing in on the counters. Closing
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: in on the counters. And they were, I was just
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: going like, man, that looks like a movie. Yeah. This
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: doesn't look like a movie, but it looks like the best.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: It looks like a nice Netflix series.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks like about as, it is the state
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: of the art, you know, and it is probably everybody,
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: you know, at doing their craft at the highest level
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: that is around right now, but it doesn't look like
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: a movie to me anymore, you know? And, uh, so, cause,
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: cause as we said, old and, uh, and, uh, you know,
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: it was like, oh, them, ah, they ruined movies when
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: they brought in the talkies, you know? I mean, it's
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: sort of what it is, but I mean, I'm going
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: like for what movies are now, this is probably, I
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: think as good as it could look, you know? Um,
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: and the integration of the effects. And, you know, I
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: was like, Jimmy's standing there. He's got like a, like
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: a radio cloth on him and he's got antlers and
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: everything's got like a perfect texture to it. I'm just
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: going like, man, they make stuff now look really good. No,
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: I'm not saying that this, this would have, I'm not saying,
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: I mean, it also, you know, sometimes looks like, you know, they,
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: they just released the, uh, animatics you know but uh
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: sometimes i go like man had they really shot this
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: movie this would be awesome you know.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: This is a great cartoon when does the blowback should come.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: Out exactly i can't wait can't wait yeah um yeah
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: so i mean so yeah jimmy was uh the hippie
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: robot i mean underutilized.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Agree most definitely in a two movie a lengthy two
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: movie arc Right. So little screen time with with him himself.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: You know what?
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: You know what? You know how what a sucker I am.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: When I was watching the damn movie. And even though
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: she's like, obviously into like, you know, this guy, she
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: kind of likes him. You know, she admires him. She
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: likes other guys. But, you know, this guy's cool, too.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: You know, but, you know, she cries like it's the
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: death of the love of her life at the end.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Like, didn't we meet him like six weeks ago? Yeah.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: And that's including traveling around the galaxy.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: And you really weren't into him that much.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: No, you pulled him off the whole ass movie.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: Well, she likes the bad guys. You know, she likes
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: the bad boys. And so this guy, you know, Quakerose
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: bland guy.
- 1:12:43Speaker 13: You know, but she cries like, but you know what?
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: When I was watching that scene, and it was probably
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: just the acting, I was going like, I was going like, man,
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: I'm feeling something. I'm feeling something for our loss. I'm
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: feeling something for the loss that we needed to see.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: We needed to see loss. You know, victory but with loss.
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: I'm going like, Zack Snyder, you son of a bitch.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: You did not earn this emotional response from me.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: They definitely did. in because well there's moments again because
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: we've got our core group and like there's so many
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: moments then they keep saying to each other oh we're
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: probably gonna die now and like they keep living and
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: i'm like okay but then i'm like we gotta sacrifice
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: somebody so once we get into the in the hut
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: area with lightsaber lady i'm like oh lord here it
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: comes like we gotta sacrifice somebody And then I was like,
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: then their dudes come in with lightsabers. I'm like, where
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: were those last movies? I don't remember anybody else. She
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: was the only person in the galaxy that had two lightsabers,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: and she was a badass. And now, all of a sudden,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: they're handing them out standard issue, because everybody's got one.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: Everybody's got a lightsaber.
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Here's how they trick you. The good guys, red. Bad guys, blue. Oh, man,
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: you never saw that twist coming.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: Anyway i don't like your cynical attitude i don't like
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: your cynical attitude.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I just noticed they didn't really stray too far they're
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: just let's just switch them let's just switch them it'll
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: be different so but then that's the that's that's the
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: other part that i feel like we're selling ourselves short
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: like we spent an entire movie like this chick is
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: the baddest swords person in the galaxy and she's taking
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: out giant spiders and she's cutting people in half and
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: she's a badass and then like we get to this
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: movie and i have some random loser soldiers kill her
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: i was like yeah that sucks like she had a
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: lame death for what was such a cool hero like
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: she didn't get a hero death even if you're gonna
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: sacrifice her like at the end of the movie, if
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: Darth Vader shows up and kicks your ass, you're like, well,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I mean, at least Darth Vader took her out.
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: This was a random dude, like another one. And she, again,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: like they all have the same weapon she does for
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: some reason, because they showed up with her now. And like,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: I don't know. It was just such a letdown for her.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Cause I was like, she was a badass in the
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: last movie.
- 1:15:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: And now it's like, she forgot how to fight or something. Yeah.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I, I thought she, uh, I thought her performance
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: and her emoting through her eyes were really good. And, um,
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: We watched two separate movies.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: Again, I think her performance was good, but she had
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: nothing to do.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: She should not have died to them.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: If she has to die, it should be a big
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: epic hero death. That's the way you take out one
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: of our cool people. How did Griffin guy not die?
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: He wouldn't even pick up a rifle. He kept using
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: his stupid... like axes and like, dude, there's 40, 11
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: automatic laser weapons laying around you right now.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: Right now.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Finally, like two minutes after hacking people up with axes,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: he finally picks up a rate rifle. I'm like, Please.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: You've got so many people to kill and you're using
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: an axe still. Don't get me wrong. You look super
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: cool doing it.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: It doesn't make any sense. You've got too many people
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: to kill. It's not efficient. Then again, I was going like, man,
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: I like the design of those axes.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: Again, it looked cool. It just logically didn't make sense anymore. Logically.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: Logically.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: But, yeah, I was like, are we going to sacrifice him?
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: Logically, they should have gone and hidden a mountain, waited
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: for the bad guys to go away, and then come
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: back out. But they do this.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: If we're sacrificing, again, we keep having, like, him and
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: Titus being like, well, this was the end for us.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: And then, like, Of any of them, I feel like
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: Titus should have been the one that had, like, a
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: big heroic death, because, like, even he felt like he
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: deserved it. Like, I let all my men down, so
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: this sacrifice, saving people, would redeem me. You know, that
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: kind of thing.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: You're right.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: But no, he's just like, oh, he's fine. It's like,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: so why did we all hurt? She didn't do anything.
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: And didn't he stop the movie to sing about something?
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Yeah. At some point. Yeah, they all have to do
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: their Irish jig. That's what Amish people do, right? That's
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: how that works.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: That's what they do. They're Irish Amish. Yeah, I know.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: He broke a cut in the song at one point.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: I'm going like, it's not the movie, Zach.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Hold on, it's a musical!
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: Zach's calling Zach.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Hey!
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. It's like the, whatchamacallit, the Snyder Cut of
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: the Justice League where we just stopped the movie for
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: some Irish girl to sing to Aquaman. The lore of
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: the Aquaman song. You know, and I'm like, yeah, all right,
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: let's just stop. Let's stop everything. Yeah. So in that way,
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: it is like a musical where it's like, you know,
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Zach's got to stop the movie to flex his shots.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: But so everything has the same. Albert Hitchcock said that
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: a good movie is three good scenes, no bad scenes.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: All right. So you kind of save it for the
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: set pieces, you know.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: So we kill the first hour. Then we got our
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: three good scenes.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: Right, right. The first hour, the first hour, it was,
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: I was going like, I guess we're trying to get
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: to know them so we can feel something.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: Because we didn't learn a damn thing about them last movie.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: So we got to sit here and tell their backstories.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: Because that was my issue with last movie. I was like,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: why did we spend... so much time in that movie
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: with these characters that we really like know nothing about
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: we saw them pick up the band and get them
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: in whatever city they were in and move on but
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: like we didn't learn anything about them so they had
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: to make up for it you're like now let's all
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: sit around the campfire and we're gonna tell our backstory
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: yeah so i don't know i just that's the thing
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: i don't even i don't like once we get to
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: the uneven like breakdown of character development and this weird
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: like We keep selling the fact that we're going to die,
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: but then most of our heroes don't die anyway.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: Right, right, right.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: They keep having this, like, Klingon, we're going to go
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: out and battle. It's the way to die. And I
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: was like, except you keep living, so what do you
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: keep talking about it for? Either go kill yourself or.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: Right, just go kill yourself. No, they do give a
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: dramatic hero's death, though, to some random... Farmer who.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: Is this when you're talking about Farm Wolverine?
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: Farm Wolverine.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: Because he had the big beard. He was wearing his
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: old wife beater. He definitely looked like old man Logan.
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: He still kind of had some guns, but he was
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: taking out some Nazi dudes along the way until he
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: got to our big bad.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: Yeah. We were really, really... we just, we just did
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: like the movie just goes off and does this big
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: thing with like the unknown soldier, you know, just the, he.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: Got way more of a heroic death than our laser
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: sword girl. She's one of our main crew.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:20:18Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: Give it to, give it to Tarzan or something, you
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: Uh, Or like the brother from the spaceship in the
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: last movie. He had a big heroic death. He sacrificed
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: himself and he saved everyone. And I'm like, that's your
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: big hero death for one of your crew. She just
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: got chumped out. No fair.
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So they just took somebody.
- 1:20:40Speaker 13: They just took one of the extras and they made
- 1:20:43Speaker 13: this entire... Because I think he's just interested in the
- 1:20:47Speaker 13: visuals first and foremost.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: He doesn't care who's in the scene. Or I was
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: just going like, is this some kind of comment on
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: the valor of the everyman and everything? That you don't
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: have to be one of the main characters for me
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: to stop the movie and make a scene about you.
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know what he was doing,
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: but it was like.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: It was random. I'll give you that. It was random.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: It was just like, here's this cool... So I was like, hey,
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: there's this cool action sequence, but, you know, we never
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: met this guy. It's fine that we didn't. I guess
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: he's making a statement, but I'm going like, yeah, you know,
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: some of the other people could have died, you know,
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: and have had more weight. I mean, it looked cool.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: I think that's what helped them as the Amish army is, like,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: they just seem to have a... in almost video game style, like,
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: over there off on the side corner of the screen,
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: it was just generating new characters over and over and over.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: Because they were... It's not like they went without death.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: It wasn't like the Ewoks and only one died out
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: of the whole battle. They were off and farmers right
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: and left, but 12 new ones would run up behind them.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: I'm like, where did all these farmers... It looked like
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: there was 12 people when they were all in the
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: longhouse together, but now suddenly there's 875 farmers just waiting
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: to die when you need an explosion to go off.
- 1:22:03Speaker 14: So.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: It was an odd mixture. Once they got into battle,
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: there were all these farmers that I had never seen before.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: Just kept running out with a sign.
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: I mean, everybody in the movie is an expert in
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: mixed martial arts. These farmers got two days worth of training,
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: and they are kung fu experts.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: Well, I had issue with the training. We skipped over that. Okay, right.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: They were so... We just had... five minutes of wheat
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: porn yeah and then like they're like this is so
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: precious this is why we do it and then they're
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: just blasting it with their guns as target practice i
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: was like but isn't that important shouldn't you use a stick.
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: Or something yeah yeah get.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: A log over there and draw a face on it
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: why are we blasting the thing that you've just said
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: is the purpose for you and your life and this
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: thing that will save the universe. And like, all of
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: a sudden we're just like, ah, screw it. Shoot that
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: weed over there.
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: Yeah. This week, that's our only bartering chip. And we're
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: just going to like train.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: A scarecrow and hack it up.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: 200 people to hack it up. Yeah. You know, it's like,
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: that's what we got.
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: That also seemed a little out of whack, but anyway,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: I jumped back in time.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: Yeah, no, no, no, no. The training stuff where, you know,
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: you can train people to go. I was going like
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: these guys, This is like a warlord society. And these
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: guys are like, you know, Attila the Hun's monk, you know,
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: the horde of well-trained professional soldiers. And these guys, they
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: haven't seen anything more advanced than a rifle. Or, you know,
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: or they've just chosen not to use it because, you know,
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: the earth, you know.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: They should just have really blistered hands. They should have
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: leathery skin on their hands. But other than that, they
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: really shouldn't have superpowers of any sort.
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: Right, right, right, right. Yeah, so it's just... I don't know.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: It was just such an incongruity there. But the problem was,
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: it was because... Zack won't. take off the caps lock,
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: you know, for anything. He just won't. He won't do it.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: I admire the fact that he has to do that, though.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: I feel like it's like he's just got to flex
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: his commercial director style every second. And it's almost like,
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: And using, like, standard movie tricks, even when they don't fit. Yeah.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: They did in the tunnels and they booby trapped it
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: with the explosives. And I'm like, okay, I know we're
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: going to see this happen later. But then we get
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: to when they're down there and of course the last
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: guy's dying and has to crawl and get the detonator.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: But the timer's beeping faster like it's going to go
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: off on its own.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Which is it? Is it on a timer? Or does
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: that guy have to crawl over there and with his
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: dying breath hit the button? You can't have both, Zach. Like,
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: pick one.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: That's it.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: But he's like, nope, screw you. I'm using that and
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: I'm using this too. Screw all y'all.
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: But that's not how this works.
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. All of it. All of it. Underline. Um,
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: all of it in maximum Zachitude, um, what does attack
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: this movie? Uh, but, and, and speaking of thermal detonators
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: or whatever, you know, um, uh, she like, uh, so,
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: all right. All right. Form versus function. All right. Lady
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: goes in to turn off the tractor beam. Okay.
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: Well, okay. First, I like the smoke grenade trick to
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: pretend like the ship was damaged. That was kind of smart.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: Pretty smart.
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: And I hadn't really seen that before. That's true. Using
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: that to trick their way in.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: That was good.
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: And then, as an extra tie-in to our Sir Robot...
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: they totally Hannibal Lecter their way inside the ship. They're like, oh,
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: they're wounded, get them out of here, bring them in.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: And they've got their faces covered, and then only when
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: they get out there, they're like, ha ha, murder time! So,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: I was like, that was clever. Again, it's a very
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: Silence of the Lambs way to sneak your way out
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: of where you were and into somewhere else, and then
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: murder people when they least expect it. So that was
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: kind of cool. So yeah, we had to get our
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: way onto the ship before she goes to To blow the...
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: The coal mansion.
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm like.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: Underground Laser Town. I don't know, whatever that was.
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: Underground Laser Town. That's Part 3's name. Rebel Moon 3.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: Underground Laser Town. I mean, possibly. I would love that. Um.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: No, she.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: No. So, again, that brings back up again. They get
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: into the ship, you know, because nobody checks the tags.
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: And we're like, oh, we.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: But that one almost worked because it was damaged.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: So it's like, oh, shit. It's one of our guys.
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: We've got to get him in here and help him.
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Again, that was almost smart. I can stretch it. As storyline... Yeah,
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: that one almost works.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I work. I can stretch it. You know,
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: I've been... I'll allow it. We're stretching the whole movie.
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: So we'll... Why stop now? So they get in. It's
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: so easy to sneak around those ships. At one point,
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: she's standing there, and an army walks by, and she
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: just kind of does the doot-a-doo, just looking at my
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: locker thing.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: I laughed out loud at that one. She just quickly
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: turned away. They didn't see my face, so they won't
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: notice there's a human being standing six inches away from
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: where they're marching past. That may or may not supposed
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: to be there.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: It was like, yeah, it seems very regimented on that ship.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: You know, we don't just let people like hang around
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: in the, uh, in the hallways, you know, not doing nothing.
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: You know, shouldn't you be like, Hey, what are you
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: doing here?
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: Nobody.
- 1:28:02Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: Yeah. They're just like, Oh, you're destructive business. That's fine.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: I'm about to fix this panel here. Don't worry about it. Yeah.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: This thing's loose.
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: I gotta get a screwdriver. Space screwdriver. All the way
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: down here with a flathead. I needed a Phillips.
- 1:28:19Speaker 7: Ah, man.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: Don't you know space.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: Space life is rough, dude.
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: Space life is rough. She goes into the tractor beam
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: place slash the core reactor.
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: Coal shoveling area.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's like... I'm going like, okay, so we're
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: going to make this thing why don't we make it
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: look like a guy vomiting laser tendrils i mean i
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: was just going like yeah so it looked like the
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: set from dark city or something like that i was
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: going like uh and i was so well like yeah
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: i don't know if they were really into i mean
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: i I was just thinking about the engineers who wanted
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: to make it look like a guy vomiting.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: That's what I was going to say. At one point,
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: it does look like a giant head and the eye opens, right?
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: And there's like a glowing eye.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: But we almost never see it. And then they cut
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: away and we don't go back to it. So I
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: was like, again, I'm like, either go with that and
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: make your big... Because then I thought it was more
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: like the derelict ship from Alien. It's like this huge...
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: body there and it's like that that scene is played
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: for spectacle it's like look at this cool set.
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: That we built yeah yeah real.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Or fictional who cares like in this shot and again
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: zach of all people you'd think it'd be like look
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: at this giant human shape vomited out lasers and like
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: it would you really like lean into the spectacle of
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: that scene right and like and it's just enough for
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: me to go is that purse was that shaped like
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: a What is, oh, and it's gone. All right, nevermind,
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: blow it up, whatever. I was like, I don't understand
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: the like, not fully committing to that. I was like,
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: if you're gonna do that and be, be ridiculous and
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: over the top with it, then go for it. But like,
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: he didn't even do that this time, which is so
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: unlike him. Like, was he out that day and somebody else.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: Stepped in to direct? Yeah, was that second unit? I mean,
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, it was almost like opposite.
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: It was almost like Zack directed all the second unit
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: stuff with a week. That might be true, actually. He
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: said the second unit guy to go film that scene.
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: You know, he was like, Dude, I just haven't got
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: enough wheat shots yet.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I've got to go focus on the wheat shots. You
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: do the action and the big ship design and all
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: that stuff that most people would want. You can have those.
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: I've got a lot of wheat to focus on.
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: I've got so much wheat to shoot.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: I've got to hand crank some slow-mo shots on this.
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: I bought a really old camera. I want to do
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: it the most slow my way.
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: I can't absolutely i mean he's like the guy from
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: nope you know.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: He's yep yeah and this doesn't even have electricity involved
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: cranking this bitch.
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: Yeah that's right that's right um and so if i'm
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: if i'm gonna like uh put a bunch of thermal
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: detonators on a weird prop thing. I mean, she doesn't
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: try to hide those at all. She like dots them
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: all over his face, like pimples, you know? And, and
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: I'm more like, all right, all right. And then, but,
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: but when the bad guys come into the room, that's
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: like the last thing they notice is like, there's a,
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: there's like 20 detonators blinking about to go off. And
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: then they're like, dude, dude, dude, dude, man, there's nothing
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: weird here. Oh, oh, look.
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: They're like, hey, you, are you supposed to be here?
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: Yeah, right, hey.
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: Finally, not the other guys in the hallway that could
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: have stopped this.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: These guys that are suddenly like, oh, that girl with
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: the thermal detonators, are you supposed to be in here?
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: Yeah, for real, for real. Yeah, yeah, I'm just going
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: to lie, she's obviously planted bombs all over. She didn't
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: try to hide it, like, in any of the nooks
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: and crannies or anything like that. She was just like, yeah,
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: you know, those would be fine. Um, she did like
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: a little art project with how she set them all up.
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: It was like, uh, she's crafting in there to correct
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: like the crafting. Anyway, then she jumped out. So I
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: don't know. I don't know. Then she jumps out into the,
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: the coal room and I'm going like, this is a
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: great scene and everything, but why are they shoveling coal?
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know.
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: There's no lithium crystals.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Yeah. If it, if it tied in, if it's something
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: that we'd seen as part of this universe from day one,
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: but like, it's just all of a sudden now, like
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: four hours into this story, it's like.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: And coal, by the way, just so you know. Yeah.
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: So like, really shouldn't this whole movie be about coal? Like,
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: shouldn't they be in a coal mining town?
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: Oh, that's right.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: We need coal to power ships to get across the
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: galaxy and Nazi people. So give us your coal. And like,
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: what's this wheat bullshit? Like, if you're a coal burning ship,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: this needs to be a whole big fracking movie and
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: we have all kinds of crazy coal mining town action
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: going on and then it would make sense to have
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: all these tunnels because they're out there digging for coal and,
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: I don't know, I feel like if you're going to
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: go with that, once again, you missed an opportunity.
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Cause you could have done like a cold
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: steampunk kind of thing, you know, where the whole thing
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: is like, you know, an inter, that would have been original,
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: you know, like, Oh man, this is like kind of
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: like old technology, new technology. Uh, that would've been cool. Um, but, uh,
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: So that brings us to the wheat. I mean, it
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: all comes back to wheat.
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: It all comes back to wheat.
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: So these guys, I mean, and nobody on the planet
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: looks like they've ever eaten a carb ever in their life.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: So I'm going like, where is their protein? Because obviously
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: they crossfit 12 hours a day.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: They got big tractor tires. They don't have a tractor.
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: Oh, that's right.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: They got the tires so they can flip tires.
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: I saw Batman versus Superman. I know how they do it. Okay,
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: that's right. They're old school. They do it Mr.
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: T style. Pull-ups, push-ups. Old school. That's right. Anyway, there's
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: a lot of... They're not eating that wheat. It's just
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: for sales purposes. They're on keto. But....
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: All right, with all this technology, I mean, I guess
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: if it's coal-powered ships, it's not that advanced as we think,
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: and they're shooting lava. But the fact that the whole
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: premise is that there's not enough bread. I mean, don't
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: they own the galaxy? Don't they have, like, farming planets?
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: Don't they have, like, silent running spaceships, like, growing wheat
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: in space?
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: Seems like that's, I mean, that is a wheat planet.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: So you guys should have already had them under your
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: thumb years ago. You're terrible. Years ago. you should already
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: be they should be feeding you constantly this shouldn't be
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: a new acquisition this should be their job from day
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: one as soon as you took over be like all
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: right go out there and get our wheat get us
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: some coal get us all our stuff that we need
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: and have them working for us for nothing because we're
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: nazis and we're cool with slave labor so like you'd
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: think that would be day one for.
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: Them yeah yeah and i'm just going and and don't
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: i mean i Since they have the technology to interstellar travel,
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: don't they have the technology to combine some amino acids
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: and make Tang or something like that? I mean, why
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: are they dependent on these farmers for their grain? I mean,
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: it just seems like they could synthesize something.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: It was weird that it was like, oh, man, what,
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: the galaxy? The soldiers are starving or something? What's going on?
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: I mean, is there a budget problem or what?
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: There's no other planets with grain? Why? If you have
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: interstellar travel, this can't be the only one that produces
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: grain that you can eat. There's got to be... 40
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: of them in different pockets of the galaxy that you
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: can light speed your way to and go get it from.
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: So why these idiots? Like, why are you wasting all
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: this time?
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: Like 20 acres of grain. I mean, yeah, this is
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: what I'm saying. It's not like a planet of grain.
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: It's like 20 acres.
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: I mean, they wrap it up in like a day
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: and a half. Too much.
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: Isn't this like, kind of like overkill for the intergalactic
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: army to like, Spend all this expense on a freaking,
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: you know, 21 silo of grain when they own the universe?
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: Well, in here, once again... Wait a second!
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: This might not have been a good movie!
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: In the overarching story, here's my favorite part. Right at
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: this point, we get to the point of, okay, we've
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: built this up. Grain is the most important thing. We've
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: had our grain porn shots. We've worked the land. Grain
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: is the most important thing in this two-movie arc. Now... Ah,
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: blow it up. Who cares? After all of this buildup,
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: are Nazi guys just like, I don't care where they
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: stacked it. Blast those idiots. So you don't even want
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: the grain?
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: We spent four.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: Hours on grain and you don't want the grain?
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: Nah, I've got Space Girl. She's going to make me.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's all I need.
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: She's going to give me more status than I already got. Yeah,
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, grain shmame. Let them starve. I don't know. Well,
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: I mean, we've got an entire vat of food protein,
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: you know, that just self-replicates with, like, micronutrients. I mean,
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: it's like.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: We could use our Star Trek creator of food that
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: just lives on the wall and we can have whatever
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: the hell we want. But no, let's waste two movies
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: on grain shmame.
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: Weird it was just weird because they just blow up
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: the yeah you're right brian this that's.
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: Just like blasted i don't care who cares about their
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: stupid grain i'm like you.
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: Did for two movies man we really got a great
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: shot of that gun turret turning i'm more like you're
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: just now warming up the cannon.
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: Well then it's again such a one-to-one as we get
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: to that like Alright, we're moving into position. It's time
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: to hit the big gun. I was like, this is
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: not at all like the Death Star coming into position.
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: No, I was going like, first they just send in troops,
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: and I'm going like, you know, why are you doing that?
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: And then I'm going like, where's your artillery? Then they
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: finally bring out the artillery.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: And then they.
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: finally say, all right, we're just going to blast them.
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: Then we go, okay, well, I guess we probably should
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: have turned on the cannons then, right? All right, let's
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: turn on the cannons.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: All right, let's turn them up.
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: That was me. That was me. Sorry, I didn't know.
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: We were going to be using them today. I'm a
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: bad Nazi.
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: What do you mean you didn't know we were going
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: to use the cannons? We're coming to, like, subjugate these people.
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: Don't you think? We should have just had the cannons ready.
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: You're right. You're right. I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking.
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: I am a bad Nazi, I swear.
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I'm turning them on now.
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: See, they're on.
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: They're on. Just give me like 20 minutes for these
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: things to warm up. They're coal powered. It just takes
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: a while.
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: You really got to get the fires going.
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: Got to get the fires going.
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: It's okay because we don't need them or the green anymore.
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: We've got girl and we know time has passed because why?
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: She's got different hair. that's right gave herself a bad
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: haircut and now we've got the battle of the bad
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: haircuts because that freaking nazi dude has the worst hair
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: ever like i granted he's the bad guy so it's
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: okay but i can't not want to snicker at him
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: every time he comes on screen because that that dude
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: dudes don't need bangs man like it because it's not
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: even a good mo at least mose comes down further
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: his is like buzz cut with a bangs way too
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: high it just looks terrible and then hers at least
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: it looks like she had a professional even though she
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: did it with a knife in the back room but
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: like when she came out it looked like she'd gone
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: to super cuts and like somebody done a great job
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: shaving the back I don't know how she got that
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: so even.
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: Man, I was thinking the same thing.
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: First, it looked good, except it was still a bad haircut.
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: Right, right. I thought she played it off, but man,
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: she really did get the back right. She did.
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: That's the thing. The top looked kind of silly, but
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: the back was shaved so damn good that I was
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: just like, man, I hope you tipped them. They did
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: a good job.
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: They did a really good job at the supercuts, the
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: space supercuts.
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: But yeah, once they got into it, I was like,
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: battle of the bad haircuts.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: Battle of the bangs.
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Well, and when I was screaming action, action, action, action, action,
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: it was when it was there that final fight lightsaber fight.
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: That's the thing I'll give them the ship turning and
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: the entire finale fight being a sliding battle that's a
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: cool idea and was it really done badly one of
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: the most effective scenes in this whole two movie arc
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: probably is sliding and for like five minutes they're sliding
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: and still battling the whole way That's pretty awesome.
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. It was well done. It was just kind
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: of like a scene from another space movie.
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: Maybe a part three in a space movie.
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: Maybe a part three in a space movie.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: Because I would say, oh, we don't see that. But
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: I was like, well, I mean, yeah, actually, we did
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: see that in a part three of a space movie.
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: But anyway, this one goes on longer, so there's that.
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: And it's been Zachified. You know, it's basically... I liked
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: the first one because it was like, hey, this is
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: like Zachified Star Wars. Well, this is like that scene
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: in that particular Star Wars movie that's been Zachified. So
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: I was going like, yeah, this is cool. I'm down.
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: I'm chanting action, so I'm getting a reaction here. So,
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: you know, knock off lightsaber. So it is kind of like...
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: The knockoff lightsaber is like a lightsaber, but the handle
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: isn't very well insulated. It's like the family dollar lightsaber.
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: That's what I was trying to figure out. Again, like
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: they didn't fully explain. Like you had to go, I
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: guess it's getting hot. Because they're badly built or something?
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: I don't know. But maybe that's just the Nazi ones.
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: The deluxe one that she had in her big case
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: back in the flashback, those were good ones. They were
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: made by craftsmen. These crappy ones they imported from space Taiwan.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: The Nazis just got those and were like, whatever, just
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: hand it out to people. And they're crappy.
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:42:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: You kind of got to wear special gloves with them. But,
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: you know, I was kind of like, oh, no, I
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: was kind of like that.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: Or maybe they all get hot and she had robot
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: hands and she just never noticed.
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: Now that I think about it. Yeah. The thing could
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: have been 900 degrees. She had metal hands. What did
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: she care?
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: Right. I noticed everybody using them had some kind of gloves.
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: So I'm kind of like, oh, that's kind of cool.
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: We got the technology almost there. But, you know, the
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: thing gets hot. So you got to wear gloves when you,
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: you know. You've got to handle these lightsabers above the mitts,
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: or you're going to burn your hands. And I was
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: going like, you know... I mean, I... And then I
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: was just thinking, like, you know, lightsabers are terrible. Because,
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, you would need to wear protective gear
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: when you handle a lightsaber. And then I was thinking, man,
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: in that Star Wars movie, they gave all those five-year-olds lightsabers.
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: And that would have been a massacre.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: They were on a special setting. You have settings on
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: them so you can not cut your leg off if
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: you hit. Oh, really? The bad thing is, I think
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: that's actually true. I think that's canon that they did
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: say there are like settings on them and you can
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: set it.
- 1:43:30Speaker 9: For like kids style version.
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: Where it doesn't actually take arms off. It just kind
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: of like buzzes them if they take their, you know,
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: accidentally hit their friend on the arm. okay okay that
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: makes sense sadly i think that's true i would i
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: would agree with that that would be something it would
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: make more sense but i mean it also surprises me
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: that they did because as i've learned over the years
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: jedi are terrible like they are terrible at stealing children
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: and teaching children and not having people go rogue and
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: murder people so like yeah I don't know. So I'm
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: kind of surprised there was even some sort of safety in,
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: in play at all. Cause yeah. Jedi's are terrible.
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: No, no, no. Exactly. Which is why I like grumpy
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: old Luke drinking his blue milk. Cause I'm going like,
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: he's going like, man, I, I hitched my cart to
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: the wrong horse.
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: Yep, that's the only part that made sense. He's like, nope,
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: this needs to stop.
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, this is ridiculous.
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: They tried it. They screwed it up. I tried it.
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: I screwed it up. Let's just stop. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: That was the only thing that made sense. I don't
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: understand why people don't like that movie, which is basically saying, yeah,
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: Star Wars just needs to end, guys. I mean....
- 1:44:46Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: The more they dug into the Jedis, the less and
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: less cool they got.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: It was like, yeah, yeah, let's just bring it to
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: an end, dude.
- 1:44:56Speaker 2: Totally, totally. Yeah, but this movie, which is not like
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: Star Wars, well, there was one point where I was going, yeah,
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: when all the cannons and the tanks and the people,
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: the Amish were getting, you know, dodging all those laser guns,
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: I was going, yeah, this looks like a Star War.
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: You know, this is like that scene in Attack of
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: the Clones, which was, you know, kind of like a
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: land war. I'm like, yeah, this is cool.
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: That's something, yeah, I saw, again, on the first movie,
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: that's what somebody brought up, and it was just sort
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: of them talking about it, and they were like, huh,
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: you know, there were no space battles, were there? And
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: they were like, no, wait, there weren't. Like, so it
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: is weird that this sci-fi epic, it's all just a
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: bunch of land battles and people, like, shooting at each
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: other on the ground, but, like, there are spaceships. We
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: see them in space, but, like, nobody ever has, like,
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: a dawn fight in space.
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: It's just, like, it's just.
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: fly the big ship in and we're going to blow
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: up that thing. And that's about it. The closest we
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: get is in a few minutes at the end when
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: the other, the sister of the guy from the last
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: movie shows up and those are totally like World War
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: II battle fighters. Like they come in totally looking like
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: old school planes.
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: That's the closest we get to like a air battle.
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: Maybe almost thrown in, but really they just chase them off.
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: So we really never get a space battle in this.
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: It's just Star Wars slash ground wars.
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: Yeah. Ground Wars.
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:46:24Speaker 2: I was real happy when the fighter showed up. But
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: but yeah, too little too late.
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: You know, I was like, why now? We could have
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: used you like a long time ago.
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: Seriously. Seriously. Yeah. The battle was scheduled for two.
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: You know, did you guys read your text?
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: Read the text any minute now. Yeah. You know, thanks
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: a lot. Thanks a lot. Thanks for nothing.
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: We killed all these extras that weren't, you know, we
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: killed 200 extras that weren't in the other movie.
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: I did want to note that while we were also
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: talking about the fact that their giant ship up there
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: is powered with coal, but also to the let's blast
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: the whole town now, we don't care about wheat moment,
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: they're hand cranking the giant cannon. I was like, wait,
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: there's not a button like even star wars is like
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: it does it all on its own this guy is
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: hand cranking it like it's an old timey tank it's
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: like what the hell what kind of ship in the
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: future hand cranks it's like he's got an old he's
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: got to crank the window up and down on his
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: old nova it's like what the hell Anyway, just wanted
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: to point out it's a hand-cranked ship.
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: I liked it.
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: I was like, oh, that looks cool, and it looks
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: like that old video game that was in the arcades,
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: you know, whatever, Battle Tank or something.
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: Again, if they would have leaned more into the steampunk,
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: that would have made sense, but everything is either super
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: clean or it's the weird tube technology, and then all
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: of a sudden we get into the.
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: belly of it and it's like.
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: Nothing but coal and then we go back up to
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: the top of the ship and they're hand cranking stuff.
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: And i'm like yeah it's almost like they a thing
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: I will not pick a thing says Zack Snyder.
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: I will do whatever the hell I want.
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: I'm Zack Snyder I'm gonna shoot the hell out of
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: it yeah I was like it was just like the
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: ridiculous stalling of time they had to And, you know,
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: prolong the inevitable certain victory that they would have had
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: had they just done that in the beginning.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: Just hit the button that did it. But no, no,
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: it's cooler when I use this crank over here. He's like,
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: I thought we disconnected those. No, watch, here it goes. Meanwhile,
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: you get shot while you're cranking. Right.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: Shot while you're cranking. Yeah. Yeah, no, it was, like,
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: just the most ridiculous way to stall for time. You know, oh,
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: now we gotta, like, pack the powder down the bow,
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: and now we gotta stuff down the wadding. You know,
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: now we gotta do this.
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: I gotta light the fuse on this laser. Hold on
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: a minute.
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: Right, right, right. I know, it was just like, you know, oh,
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: let's move the cannon. It was like 12 guys, like, oh, you.
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: Know, I'm like, what are we doing? Send out the Ugnaughts.
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: right right they come out singing the little like Willy
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: Wonka song yeah yeah right gotta move the cannon if
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: you people would just stop using coal burning technology.
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: Right I'm gonna load the giant I mean I'm just
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: like what I'm like didn't you guys just do any
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: of this you know while all your people were being
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: slaughtered down there by you know the Amish I.
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: Mean they had other stuff going on Yeah, yeah, I mean, shit.
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: I mean, just, like, I'm just going, like, this solves nothing.
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: This is, like, one ship. I mean, this is, like,
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: you don't go up against the evil armada. It is
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: only 20 great anchors left. Had they come in the
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: first movie and said, like, give us your weed, they said, like, no,
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: and shot him, they would have solved all their problems.
- 1:50:21Speaker 2: They would have killed the space girl, and then they
- 1:50:25Speaker 2: would have, like, you know, shown everybody who's boss. Because
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: I'm sure there's other villages that make grain on that
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: entire freaking planet.
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: You would think, unless this really is like Star Wars
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: where every planet is one thing. It's just one town
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: and they all look the same and do the same
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: and have the same weather and people have all the
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: same jobs. The whole planet's just the thing.
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: Just that. That's it.
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: That's all you get.
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: The planet's the thing. And so, yeah, so they could
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: have just blown up that village in five seconds and
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: then gone to the next village.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: And then, like, televised it and been like, hey, this
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: is what we do to people who don't play along.
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: So who's up next? You want to get your wheat ready?
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: Because we're coming by. I mean, it's an.
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: Entire planet of, like, natural, perfect, pristine natural resources for
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: them to, like, come in and bring their own farmers.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: And I was going to say, don't you know how
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: to make like farming droids? Like you can make that
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: antler boy. And like, he's again, super strong and he's
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: laid out like a human. So I feel like he
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: could do all that work. Why don't you have a
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: hundred thousand of those on a ship that come down
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: and just wheat the whole planet and you do whatever
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: you want and take it with you. Why are you
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: relying on these idiot farmers? Like, Deal with their technology,
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: figure out how to do it, and then send robots
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: in to do all the work without them.
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, there's just so many solutions to this.
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: With a super technological society, there's so many things you
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: could do. And it's just like this... this fake scarcity
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: thing that they had going on. And I was just
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: going like, why can't they just figure out how to
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: make like a, like a shake or something? I mean,
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: just going, I mean, and like, why are they like,
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: you know, pillaging the universe?
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: The future, brought to you by Slim Fast.
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: All I need is a shake for breakfast shake for
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: dinner I go to war I.
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: Mean obviously they're drinking beefcake all day you know I
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: mean that's what really what's going on you know you
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: know and uh yeah so I'm just going like so
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: they're I mean you know it's kind of like uh yeah.
- 1:52:34Speaker 8: It's just a it's just a freaking movie but you
- 1:52:38Speaker 8: know but uh at the same time you just go
- 1:52:40Speaker 8: like you know the stakes are based on like a
- 1:52:42Speaker 8: false premise you know and uh.
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: Well, it's the notes that he jotted down on a
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: napkin when he went into the Disney Studios.
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: So there's wheat and some Nazis, and I want to
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: kind of do lightsabers, but I don't want to get sued.
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: And they're like, no, no, no, no. We own lightsabers.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: You don't have to. Except we don't want this wheat story.
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: So get the hell out.
- 1:53:05Speaker 7: And he's like, oh.
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: Shit, I guess I'll just make it myself.
- 1:53:09Speaker 2: Dude, that's what happened, dude. He went into Disney, and
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: they said, Zack Snyder, thanks for coming in here. As
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: the trailers of Watchmen told us, you are the visionary director,
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: Zack Snyder.
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: As you told us yourself.
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: As you told us yourself many times from the imaginative,
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: visionary mind of Zack Snyder. So, Zack, please tell us,
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: how are you going to save Star Wars and cash
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: us in so we can cash in?
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: He said, one word, wheat.
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: Wheat.
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: They're like, screw plastics. It's all about wheat.
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: Wheat. They're like, wheat. And Mickey's like, wheat?
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: What are you talking about? He's like, look, we bought
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: in on this moisture farmer thing, but we didn't even
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: come up with that. We just bought that off some
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: other dude. So the fact that you think you can
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: roll in and just say wheat and we're going to
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: hand you a check for a billion dollars, you can
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: let yourself out. We don't validate, Zach.
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Zach. Our marketing department and our research have
- 1:54:08Speaker 2: shown that two-thirds of our audience have a gluten allergy.
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: So you would basically be cutting our profits in half
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: for no point. Sorry, we can't go with wheat. It's
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: wheat or nothing. Can it be like some kind of
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: synthetic protein alloy that they're mining out of the plant?
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: Nope.
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: No i said wheat damn it.
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: They're amish they're space amish with a little bit of
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: viking thrown in they got a long house we say.
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: It and they might be irish too i don't know
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: yet i hear.
- 1:54:37Speaker 14: Some singing i hear star wars really needs an irish
- 1:54:41Speaker 14: jig scene and it's been a while it's been a
- 1:54:44Speaker 14: while since you know michael flannery made all that shit
- 1:54:47Speaker 14: popular back in.
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: The 90s But where every movie seemed to have an
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: Irish jig scene, I don't know.
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: Well, he was Lord of the Dance.
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: Right, exactly. Exactly. Caught the nation on fire. But I
- 1:55:03Speaker 2: don't know. I don't know. There's so many... You're making
- 1:55:09Speaker 2: me confront certain truths. About this movie.
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: You must confront yourself before you turn to the dark side.
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: Exactly, exactly. I'm like looking at the mirror and never
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: a new story.
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: You're cutting off your own head is what this is.
- 1:55:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Dude, I'm just thinking that, yeah, the reliance on,
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: you know, in a world where you can basically keep
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: people alive forever and travel impossible distances and Oh, they
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: do fly by the Interstellar set at one point, you know,
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: with the black hole going on. I'm going like, oh, yeah,
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: look at that. Interstellar.
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: As long as Black Hole is there.
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly. Oh, okay.
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: Yeah, so I guess they're... Maximilian, come on. Save this movie,
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: damn it.
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: Get out of here. Oh, my God. That movie would
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: have been so... If he came.
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: Cruising out, I'd be like, oh, okay.
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: You got me then. And doing the blades, kind of
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: like the end of Rogue One. You know what I mean?
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: That would have been.
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: If Disney would have signed on, we could have had that.
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: That is their property, man. When are they rebooting that?
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: Dude, please. Please.
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: I'm afraid they're going to, is the sad thing. But...
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: If I get more Maximilian, I might sit through a
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: bad six-episode arc. Whatever.
- 1:56:20Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Black Hole, the TV show. You've got
- 1:56:23Speaker 2: to subscribe to Disney +.
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: Again, what haven't they rebooted lately? How have they gone
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: this far? They have their own streaming network now. How
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: have they not rebooted Black Hole?
- 1:56:34Speaker 2: For real. For real. You think you like Black Hole?
- 1:56:36Speaker 2: Do you want 27 hours of Black Hole?
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: How about a whole series of things you do not
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: care about?
- 1:56:43Speaker 9: You're like, yes!
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: Tell me more about those zombies with shiny faces. That
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: was at least six episodes talking about the backstory of
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: how they got like that.
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: That's right. I want to know what they have for breakfast.
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: What do they have for dinner?
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: What are their hopes? What are their dreams? Are they
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: satisfied in their work? I got to know. I need
- 1:57:01Speaker 2: to know. You know? You know? Yeah, I don't... Yeah, so.
- 1:57:10Speaker 2: It's conflicting. It's conflicting because as I was watching this,
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: and I want to still say... this is a recommend
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: for me because.
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: I, you have odd standards.
- 1:57:20Speaker 2: I have odd standards. I have odd standards. I like,
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: I like the commitment to the, uh, style over substance
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: at all costs, you know? And I just like his single,
- 1:57:35Speaker 2: but see, I don't feel, as I said on the
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: last time, I don't feel like he's patronizing me like
- 1:57:41Speaker 2: Michael Bay does. I feel like he's not talking down
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: to me like Michael Bay. I feel like Zach really believes.
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: I think he's a believer.
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: He's a little too much. He's drank the Kool-Aid too long.
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: Because that's the thing. Even his older movies, I don't know.
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: They were pretty damn self-serious, too. But at least then
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: they seemed like the stakes were a little higher if
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: it was like Watchmen. But like here, it's like, this
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: is a bunch of dumb farmers on a planet. Why
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: are we making this so serious? We should be having
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: fun and you should be having fun. And I feel
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: like this is work for all of us, Zach. You
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: clocked in every day to make this. And I feel
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: like I'm clocking in to sit down in front of Netflix. Oh,
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: my God.
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I mean, I mean, I hear you're saying
- 1:58:37Speaker 2: the Roger Corman version of this movie would have been.
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: It would have paid so much.
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: Yeah yeah had it done it like battle beyond the
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: stars which basically what.
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: This is which is exactly kind of what it is
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: and having re-watched that a few years ago i'm like
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: it was really fun like yeah right you can see
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: the budget limitations i don't want to ruin that for
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: you yeah but that aside it's so much.
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: Fun right right.
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: So yeah i feel like this this needs be a
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: little more fun is all i'm saying don't be so
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: serious zach come on now like no.
- 1:59:13Speaker 2: That's his that's his thing i mean that's his thing
- 1:59:15Speaker 2: you know superman was bleak and super members batman was
- 1:59:20Speaker 2: bleak and everything's bleak but everything is built for maximum
- 1:59:26Speaker 2: zaxxamum dramatic impact.
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: Weakness. Maximum bleakness.
- 1:59:33Speaker 2: Weakness, maximum bleakness, maximum, maximum impact. And so, you know,
- 1:59:41Speaker 2: I mean, obviously these movies are like, these are like visual,
- 1:59:47Speaker 2: very appropriately, movies on steroids, you know. And so you
- 1:59:53Speaker 2: just kind of go like, it's sort of, So it
- 1:59:56Speaker 2: becomes kind of like camp, you know? Because it's kind
- 2:00:00Speaker 2: of like.
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: It's like going past that point?
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: It's so self-serious that it's almost making fun of itself?
- 2:00:09Speaker 2: Well, I don't think it's making fun of.
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: I don't think Zach feels like he's making fun of himself.
- 2:00:13Speaker 2: But it is kind of like... But it's kind of
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: like him not being aware of the joke?
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:00:20Speaker 2: I mean, I just think he's such a believer. He
- 2:00:23Speaker 2: kind of... pricks me, hypnotizes me into be a believer
- 2:00:27Speaker 2: while I'm watching it. And I don't like all Zack
- 2:00:30Speaker 2: Snyder movies. You know, I've tried to watch even the
- 2:00:33Speaker 2: great people say Dawn of the Dead was like his
- 2:00:36Speaker 2: great one, you know, but.
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: I have, I've always, again, I don't even count that
- 2:00:40Speaker 1: as one of his really.
- 2:00:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. But I don't, I mean, I'm not the
- 2:00:43Speaker 2: biggest fan of that actually, you know, and I think
- 2:00:45Speaker 2: it's fine, but man, it looks dated now. It looks
- 2:00:48Speaker 2: so 2004, uh, color grades and, It doesn't have the sheen.
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: No, no, it's got, it still looks like a real
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: world movie. It doesn't have the weird thing that he
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: does now to all of the movies. Cause that's the thing.
- 2:01:03Speaker 2: It all looks like 300. Yeah.
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: I was like, or the, the what's the one with
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: the girls kicking ass sucker punch sucker punch. I mean,
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: sucker punch looks exactly like this one. Like once he
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: got to that sheen, it's like, that's his, it's his look.
- 2:01:17Speaker 1: It's his color palette. It's like everything. just it's it's
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: cookie cutter out of the zach book it's like oh
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: yeah this is what i do here you go.
- 2:01:24Speaker 2: So like yeah watchman they all.
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: Feel that way that's kind of why i don't count
- 2:01:27Speaker 1: that first one yeah watchman's edging its way there it's
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: yeah 300 definitely already made it there though so i don't.
- 2:01:35Speaker 2: Know yeah no it's like it's as in 300 you
- 2:01:39Speaker 2: know it's sort of what he does is it's like
- 2:01:42Speaker 2: every scene is so damn dramatic and shot, you know,
- 2:01:47Speaker 2: just like every scene, every moment. It's just like, and so,
- 2:01:52Speaker 2: and so like, yeah, I mean, it's almost like every
- 2:01:54Speaker 2: shot is a trailer shot, you know, and you know,
- 2:01:58Speaker 2: and so it's almost like a trailer for a movie
- 2:02:02Speaker 2: that you're watching, but it's doing a trailer for it.
- 2:02:05Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know. It's like a trailer for
- 2:02:07Speaker 2: a movie that you never get to see, you know?
- 2:02:10Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 2:02:10Speaker 2: That's it. It's like, He's a commercial director. He came
- 2:02:14Speaker 2: out of commercials.
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: And it looks that way.
- 2:02:16Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 2:02:17Speaker 2: He does make his movies are two hour commercials for
- 2:02:21Speaker 2: the movie that he thinks he's making, but he's not
- 2:02:24Speaker 2: making the movie. He's making a two hour commercial for
- 2:02:26Speaker 2: the movie.
- 2:02:27Speaker 1: This is very delusional and self-delusional.
- 2:02:31Speaker 2: Of me to think that? I think I just said
- 2:02:33Speaker 2: the best criticism.
- 2:02:37Speaker 1: I was blaming Zach. I guess you were also falling
- 2:02:41Speaker 1: into his trap.
- 2:02:42Speaker 2: I was going like, oh my god, that's the smartest
- 2:02:45Speaker 2: thing I've ever said in my life. Holy shit.
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: I've had a real breakthrough this week in my therapy.
- 2:02:50Speaker 2: I had a breakthrough. I've come to realize my relationship
- 2:02:54Speaker 2: with Zack Snyder was because he's making the commercials of
- 2:02:58Speaker 2: the movies that I think I'm watching, but I'm not
- 2:03:00Speaker 2: watching them. So I feel like I've made some progress.
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: We've definitely made progress because last time you had to
- 2:03:04Speaker 1: come to terms with the fact that it was sort
- 2:03:06Speaker 1: of an abusive relationship.
- 2:03:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right.
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: Where now we've graduated up and he's just selling you
- 2:03:12Speaker 1: on something now. So that's a lesser evil.
- 2:03:15Speaker 2: It's almost like he's a charismatic cult leader. He's got
- 2:03:20Speaker 2: this hollow... He's got a car with no motor in it.
- 2:03:25Speaker 1: But it's really cool looking.
- 2:03:27Speaker 2: But it's really cool looking. He really sold it on me.
- 2:03:30Speaker 2: I brought it home. And people are going like, why
- 2:03:34Speaker 2: did you buy that? And I'm going like, man, look
- 2:03:36Speaker 2: at it. It's so awesome looking, but it doesn't go anywhere.
- 2:03:38Speaker 1: I mean, he put the dealership at the top of
- 2:03:41Speaker 1: a hill. So when I left, everything was great. It
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: was just when I got down there, I had some
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: issues with the whole... motivation.
- 2:03:51Speaker 2: Of everything yeah yeah when i had to write right
- 2:03:54Speaker 2: when i had to push it.
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: Yeah i feel like when i was filling in the
- 2:03:59Speaker 1: blanks on the story i was like huh maybe this
- 2:04:02Speaker 1: does need an engine i'll be damned.
- 2:04:06Speaker 2: I'll be damned man i can't believe i bought it
- 2:04:08Speaker 2: i can't believe i bought it I guess I understand
- 2:04:11Speaker 2: it now, though. I understand my weird relationship with Zack
- 2:04:16Speaker 2: Snyder now.
- 2:04:19Speaker 1: He's a salesman.
- 2:04:20Speaker 2: He's a salesman. He's not a filmmaker. He's a salesman.
- 2:04:23Speaker 1: We're rounding it out. We get the sliding battle. So
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: we do get, I mean, amongst the many times that like, oh,
- 2:04:32Speaker 1: I think she's going to, oh, he slides this way.
- 2:04:34Speaker 1: So we also, when we get to the wall and
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: they actually stop sliding, Right. We get like a three
- 2:04:41Speaker 1: part death for the Nazi bastard.
- 2:04:44Speaker 2: So it's like.
- 2:04:44Speaker 1: We get, first of all, I thought it was kind
- 2:04:47Speaker 1: of cool. And sort of back to your fight with
- 2:04:49Speaker 1: Wolverine point of the everyman. It's like she doesn't take
- 2:04:52Speaker 1: him out. He gets taken out by this lowly farmer character.
- 2:04:57Speaker 1: This weird loser that even his girlfriend doesn't like him
- 2:05:02Speaker 1: is the one that gives him the kind of death blow.
- 2:05:04Speaker 1: And then she's like, oh, no, no, no, no. Not
- 2:05:06Speaker 1: leaving him with that. So then she closes him in
- 2:05:09Speaker 1: a door.
- 2:05:09Speaker 7: Love it.
- 2:05:11Speaker 1: Which was awesome. And then decapitates him with the laser sword.
- 2:05:14Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:05:15Speaker 1: So my question is, do you think he's really gone
- 2:05:19Speaker 1: this time?
- 2:05:21Speaker 2: Well, dude, they had.
- 2:05:22Speaker 1: We heard the head hit the floor. Yeah. Like we
- 2:05:25Speaker 1: didn't see it though. Yeah. And we've seen their magical
- 2:05:28Speaker 1: technology with tubes and shit. So.
- 2:05:31Speaker 2: They've got to bring him back as a... If they
- 2:05:32Speaker 2: bring him back, they've got to bring him back as
- 2:05:34Speaker 2: a Darth Vader type thing. At this. You know, he's
- 2:05:36Speaker 2: got to have at least some steel collar. And he
- 2:05:39Speaker 2: can take his head off and on. That'd be cool.
- 2:05:42Speaker 2: What if he had detachable bodies, you know, and everything?
- 2:05:44Speaker 2: He could, like, level up.
- 2:05:46Speaker 1: Switch to a, yeah, a different General Grievous body with
- 2:05:50Speaker 1: spinning blades.
- 2:05:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that'd be cool. That'd be cool.
- 2:05:55Speaker 2: I mean, I am... You know, as. As solely disappointed
- 2:06:01Speaker 2: I am in this movie, in retrospect, I was like
- 2:06:05Speaker 2: kind of mad that I was going like, damn it,
- 2:06:06Speaker 2: now we got to like wait for them to like
- 2:06:09Speaker 2: get ratings to see how this thing actually ends, because
- 2:06:11Speaker 2: they've got to bring Space Princess back to power.
- 2:06:14Speaker 1: Yeah, we get halfway in and it's like I would think.
- 2:06:18Speaker 1: the one in two of this, as it was presented,
- 2:06:21Speaker 1: would wrap up the story, but it doesn't leave a
- 2:06:24Speaker 1: back door so you can continue if you wanted. It
- 2:06:27Speaker 1: just hands you the, and here's the real part of
- 2:06:30Speaker 1: the story that we never even got to, guys.
- 2:06:33Speaker 2: We didn't get to that because we were so into wheat.
- 2:06:36Speaker 1: We were busy fighting this battle scene that went on
- 2:06:40Speaker 1: for a long time, but we didn't really get around
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: to that princess stuff. Remember in the last movie when
- 2:06:45Speaker 1: we talked about that princess? Yeah, we didn't get around
- 2:06:48Speaker 1: to that.
- 2:06:49Speaker 2: Restoring order to the universe. You know, I mean, you
- 2:06:51Speaker 2: got a lot of, you know, now it's basically got
- 2:06:54Speaker 2: to be her and the five or whatever, the four
- 2:06:58Speaker 2: remaining assassins. And I guess the rebels are on her
- 2:07:03Speaker 2: side now. But so now they've got to take down
- 2:07:05Speaker 2: the entire universal government. I mean, they've got to take
- 2:07:09Speaker 2: down the universe. I mean, now they've got to like
- 2:07:13Speaker 2: over and rest. I mean, oh, man, they've got a
- 2:07:16Speaker 2: lot to do. you know, in this next movie, if
- 2:07:19Speaker 2: they'd make it a trilogy. I mean, there's got to
- 2:07:21Speaker 2: be at least two more because, I mean, they can't
- 2:07:23Speaker 2: do all this. At the rate Zack Snyder shoots things.
- 2:07:28Speaker 1: And drags the story out.
- 2:07:30Speaker 2: And drags it out because he's got to get every
- 2:07:32Speaker 2: one of those shots in that he did i was
- 2:07:36Speaker 2: going like did zach edit this because but then i
- 2:07:39Speaker 2: was the credits and no he didn't but yeah i'm
- 2:07:41Speaker 2: sure he said we're all the wheat standing because that
- 2:07:45Speaker 2: was a pain in the ass i.
- 2:07:46Speaker 1: Mean that becomes the big wrap-up too is like they
- 2:07:49Speaker 1: have after they all yell yay we won and everybody
- 2:07:52Speaker 1: has to yell and then it's like again we get
- 2:07:55Speaker 1: a very heartfelt speech about we have to pay tribute
- 2:08:00Speaker 1: to the fallen heroes with future farming. Farming is the
- 2:08:06Speaker 1: only way to show that they sacrificed themselves for something.
- 2:08:11Speaker 1: And that something is wheat. That's basically what the big
- 2:08:17Speaker 1: speech is at the end. It was like, we are
- 2:08:20Speaker 1: back to that damn weed again.
- 2:08:23Speaker 2: Basically, Zack Snyder has not had gluten in 20 years.
- 2:08:27Speaker 2: And he's gone crazy.
- 2:08:28Speaker 1: He's jonesing for it.
- 2:08:31Speaker 2: It's messing up his judgment. Because his entire Star Wars
- 2:08:37Speaker 2: epic he's around wheat i mean he's just like he's
- 2:08:41Speaker 2: like oh man you gotta have some carbs dude you
- 2:08:44Speaker 2: gotta have some card your brain won't work right all right.
- 2:08:46Speaker 1: He's just sitting in a dark room rocking back and
- 2:08:49Speaker 1: forth going i just need a dinner roll i just
- 2:08:51Speaker 1: need a dinner roll.
- 2:08:52Speaker 2: As he's like down as he's downloading like you know
- 2:08:56Speaker 2: uh chicken chicken breast.
- 2:08:58Speaker 1: Sausage and gravy porn that he's watching in his bedroom
- 2:09:03Speaker 1: oh put it on that biscuit that's right put it on.
- 2:09:08Speaker 15: That biscuit oh yeah and that if you got uh
- 2:09:14Speaker 15: ai uh yeah that's got to be the image of
- 2:09:17Speaker 15: that i started watching carb porn.
- 2:09:21Speaker 1: With a couple of monkeys standing in the.
- 2:09:22Speaker 2: Background like yee not need to see.
- 2:09:28Speaker 1: That oh i need to see that Or do you? Probably.
- 2:09:34Speaker 2: Probably. Probably. There's a problem there.
- 2:09:37Speaker 1: Yes, we give our big wheat speech. And then the...
- 2:09:41Speaker 1: reveal the big secret of gas but the princess is alive.
- 2:09:46Speaker 2: It's like oh shit there's gonna be five more.
- 2:09:49Speaker 1: Of these things yeah you're sitting you're going ah damn
- 2:09:52Speaker 1: it we didn't even wrap up the any of this story.
- 2:09:55Speaker 2: Nothing the story is restoring order no well.
- 2:09:59Speaker 1: Then the whole rest of their talking after that is
- 2:10:01Speaker 1: just sort of repeating the same things over oh we
- 2:10:04Speaker 1: have to fight together in the future to restore order
- 2:10:09Speaker 1: to the galaxy and find the princess. And they say
- 2:10:11Speaker 1: that like two to three times in slightly varied ways
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: as each character.
- 2:10:16Speaker 2: You agree, Joe? Yes, I agree. We should all join
- 2:10:18Speaker 2: forces to find the princess.
- 2:10:19Speaker 1: Yes, we should fight together and look for the future
- 2:10:22Speaker 1: of the princess fighting future wheat.
- 2:10:25Speaker 2: Stretch it, stretch it out, stretch it out.
- 2:10:29Speaker 1: I was like, we get it. You're hammering home. There's
- 2:10:32Speaker 1: more of these coming. Yeah.
- 2:10:34Speaker 2: It's like the... What was the end of the Snyder
- 2:10:38Speaker 2: Cut of one of those... I think Justice League was
- 2:10:40Speaker 2: that long conversation between Joker and the Batman that just
- 2:10:44Speaker 2: goes on and on and on and on.
- 2:10:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that I was blocking out most of
- 2:10:52Speaker 1: trying to watch that four-hour cut. And I kept thinking, like,
- 2:10:56Speaker 1: is this even... I thought this ended like twice already.
- 2:10:59Speaker 1: How are we still talking?
- 2:11:02Speaker 2: And so, yeah, there's like two endings. There's a lot
- 2:11:04Speaker 2: of endings. And then finally.
- 2:11:06Speaker 1: Another ending. And then Joker. Right, right.
- 2:11:09Speaker 2: And so this one here, it's got like an ending.
- 2:11:11Speaker 2: But then they say like, oh, wait, it's not. It's not. No, man.
- 2:11:14Speaker 1: Look. Yay, we won. Except nope.
- 2:11:17Speaker 2: No, this movie is not about wheat. This movie is
- 2:11:21Speaker 2: actually about finding the princess.
- 2:11:23Speaker 1: Finding the princess. So this whole thing has just been
- 2:11:26Speaker 1: Super Mario Brothers the whole time. Yeah, the whole time.
- 2:11:29Speaker 2: The whole time. So it's, yeah, exactly.
- 2:11:30Speaker 1: We got to the end and we're like, oh, Peach
- 2:11:32Speaker 1: is in another castle. Sorry. You got to make another
- 2:11:37Speaker 1: 15 hour movie.
- 2:11:38Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 2:11:40Speaker 1: Damn you, Bowser. Yeah.
- 2:11:43Speaker 2: So I'm just going like, man, it's going to be
- 2:11:46Speaker 2: so much spectacle in the next movie. And it's not
- 2:11:49Speaker 2: going to be... That's a weird thing. These movies are
- 2:11:53Speaker 2: going to be great when they change the subject from
- 2:11:56Speaker 2: wheat to actual Star Wars.
- 2:11:59Speaker 1: Princess finding.
- 2:12:01Speaker 2: They just need to feed Zack a box of Ritz
- 2:12:04Speaker 2: and then have him redo another draft.
- 2:12:07Speaker 1: I bet he's going to be really into some wheat thins.
- 2:12:10Speaker 1: he'll just sit and look at him for like an
- 2:12:14Speaker 1: hour oh.
- 2:12:15Speaker 2: My god that's right.
- 2:12:16Speaker 1: He just he just.
- 2:12:18Speaker 2: Lays his head down on the table next to it
- 2:12:21Speaker 2: and just goes like hey buddy how's it going buddy.
- 2:12:24Speaker 1: No i think that's too friendly he's like oh baby
- 2:12:28Speaker 1: i've missed you so much Bring your salty goodness over here.
- 2:12:34Speaker 2: Yeah, he's just fantasizing about old birthdays that he had
- 2:12:38Speaker 2: where he ate a piece of cake. He's like, oh
- 2:12:41Speaker 2: my god, I remember when birthdays were about birthday cakes
- 2:12:44Speaker 2: and presents. And now they're like, you know, CrossFit. and,
- 2:12:49Speaker 2: you know, shake some goop, some protein goop that I bought.
- 2:12:53Speaker 1: Well, that was a shot of him when they pulled
- 2:12:55Speaker 1: him out at the beginning. That slime-covered bag is where
- 2:12:58Speaker 1: Zach sleeps at night.
- 2:12:59Speaker 2: That's right. Yeah, I was going like, oh, man, Fly
- 2:13:01Speaker 2: 2 or The Fly. Oh, man, Cronenberg showed up for
- 2:13:04Speaker 2: a day.
- 2:13:05Speaker 1: I mean, there was a bunch of tubes and shit.
- 2:13:08Speaker 1: They should have gone with that. But no, we didn't
- 2:13:10Speaker 1: get Cronenberg. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:13:12Speaker 2: He just came by and sneezed and then, like, left.
- 2:13:15Speaker 2: And then they go, oh, that's pretty cool. I go, yeah, yeah. Yeah,
- 2:13:19Speaker 2: we're going to cover him into the... We must bring
- 2:13:21Speaker 2: him out of the chrysalis. I'm like, ah, man. I'm
- 2:13:24Speaker 2: with you, man. I'm with this movie. This movie is awesome.
- 2:13:27Speaker 2: This guy's covered in not, like, crusty crap. He's got
- 2:13:32Speaker 2: raver technology bringing him back to life. I am with
- 2:13:35Speaker 2: this movie 100%. And, boy, then the movie happened. Well,
- 2:13:40Speaker 2: the commercial for the movie happened. And then.
- 2:13:43Speaker 1: And you got to the end and went, I think
- 2:13:45Speaker 1: I want wheat thins, too. Good idea, Zach.
- 2:13:49Speaker 2: Zach, I agree. Wheat is good. I want to go
- 2:13:52Speaker 2: get some wheat thins.
- 2:13:53Speaker 1: It's a two hour wheat thins commercial.
- 2:13:56Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much. The most expensive wheat thins commercial. I'm sorry, guys.
- 2:14:02Speaker 2: I thought I was making a wheat thins commercial. Honestly,
- 2:14:05Speaker 2: I thought that's what this was.
- 2:14:06Speaker 1: I was just really hungry when we started shooting.
- 2:14:08Speaker 2: I was so hungry.
- 2:14:09Speaker 1: So hungry.
- 2:14:12Speaker 2: I just didn't know. I'm sorry. I got distracted.
- 2:14:15Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 2:14:18Speaker 2: I would say this is better, though, than Army of
- 2:14:20Speaker 2: the Dead, which I think was all the Zach. I
- 2:14:23Speaker 2: almost felt like Army of the Dead was so poorly shot,
- 2:14:26Speaker 2: you know, that he's almost like, I felt this one
- 2:14:30Speaker 2: he had to make up for it. I mean, I
- 2:14:32Speaker 2: just felt like you guys, I gotta, I gotta show
- 2:14:34Speaker 2: him that I still know how to shoot.
- 2:14:35Speaker 1: Again, I feel like I would almost rewatch army of
- 2:14:37Speaker 1: the dead over either of these two.
- 2:14:39Speaker 2: Wow.
- 2:14:40Speaker 1: And I don't think army of the dead is good,
- 2:14:42Speaker 1: but it's like the special dumb kind of entertaining that
- 2:14:46Speaker 1: Zach really needs to focus on. Cause I was like,
- 2:14:49Speaker 1: at least that one, it was fun. Like it's stupid
- 2:14:52Speaker 1: and the rules don't make any sense and they're not explained.
- 2:14:56Speaker 1: But once you get into it, it's just a big
- 2:14:58Speaker 1: dumb heist movie and they added some zombies. So it's like, yeah,
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: it kind of is. Again, if you turn your brain off,
- 2:15:05Speaker 1: it can be fun where this one, you can't turn
- 2:15:08Speaker 1: your brain off. Cause the whole time he's like, look
- 2:15:10Speaker 1: how serious this is. This is so serious. You better
- 2:15:14Speaker 1: turn that brain back on. And I'm like, but I
- 2:15:17Speaker 1: don't want to sack your movies.
- 2:15:18Speaker 4: Duh.
- 2:15:20Speaker 1: So, again, Army of Zombies, whatever the hell that one was.
- 2:15:27Speaker 1: At least that one, you've got a whole extra game
- 2:15:30Speaker 1: because you can watch it and sit there and go,
- 2:15:33Speaker 1: how the hell did they edit out an entire character
- 2:15:36Speaker 1: that's involved in the whole movie? Yeah. I was way
- 2:15:41Speaker 1: more fascinated by that. I was just like, first off,
- 2:15:44Speaker 1: fuck that guy. Second of all, she is entertaining. And
- 2:15:47Speaker 1: then the whole time, I'm just like, how? The technology.
- 2:15:51Speaker 1: Did they reshoot all of this? Or did they green
- 2:15:54Speaker 1: screen out that? The whole time, I'm just trying to
- 2:15:56Speaker 1: figure out how they piece this back together, removing an
- 2:16:00Speaker 1: entire character and replacing it with a different character.
- 2:16:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:16:04Speaker 1: So that's way more entertaining than anything in any of
- 2:16:07Speaker 1: those movies.
- 2:16:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's interesting in like a Discovery Channel.
- 2:16:11Speaker 7: It is.
- 2:16:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the thing. The way these movies are made nowadays,
- 2:16:16Speaker 2: it's not really romantic anymore. Not really. It's more, you know.
- 2:16:21Speaker 1: And that says a lot about your role in one
- 2:16:23Speaker 1: of these Zack Snyder movies. When very easily you, as
- 2:16:28Speaker 1: a character and an actor, can be lifted out.
- 2:16:31Speaker 2: And replaced right after we shot right right right.
- 2:16:35Speaker 1: Not like you got fired beforehand because you did something
- 2:16:38Speaker 1: stupid oh no no no we already shot this movie
- 2:16:41Speaker 1: i'm taking your ass out yeah yeah i can click
- 2:16:45Speaker 1: copy paste delete just a few keystrokes and.
- 2:16:50Speaker 2: You are gone yeah yeah so that sort of changes
- 2:16:54Speaker 2: how movies are made you know or how movies are
- 2:16:57Speaker 2: saved i mean it's like So there's something very different
- 2:17:02Speaker 2: going on in movies these days when that's the kind
- 2:17:04Speaker 2: of thing that's happening. And I think and and I
- 2:17:09Speaker 2: don't know, that's that's something down some road or something.
- 2:17:13Speaker 2: But I can't really formulate at the moment.
- 2:17:19Speaker 1: I mean, that's a whole nother episode.
- 2:17:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's wrong with movies these days? Nothing
- 2:17:27Speaker 2: at stake. There's no craftsmanship. It was hyper craftsmanship. That's
- 2:17:30Speaker 2: the thing. It's like this hyper new kind of craftsmanship.
- 2:17:33Speaker 1: The craftsmanship is more important than the storytelling or the acting.
- 2:17:37Speaker 1: It's like there is a craft to all of these
- 2:17:40Speaker 1: cool things that they can do, but it shouldn't replace
- 2:17:45Speaker 1: you know, storytelling, acting, the basics that, you know, brought
- 2:17:50Speaker 1: us this form of art.
- 2:17:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:17:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:17:54Speaker 2: I don't know, man. Yeah. I mean, could you have said, yeah,
- 2:17:59Speaker 2: as we said in the last one, this one as well, uh,
- 2:18:02Speaker 2: this one here had more like just bad, dumb human
- 2:18:05Speaker 2: flaws in it.
- 2:18:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:18:08Speaker 2: But it did feel like, you know, AI create me
- 2:18:10Speaker 2: a Zack Snyder Star Wars movie, you know. So this
- 2:18:12Speaker 2: one here, because it was weird pacing and just, you know,
- 2:18:17Speaker 2: bad decisions. Which, you know, I'm sure they shot all
- 2:18:20Speaker 2: this at the same time. So, you know.
- 2:18:22Speaker 1: You would think, yeah.
- 2:18:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know how it would feel if I
- 2:18:26Speaker 2: watched it. all in one four hour chunk, you.
- 2:18:30Speaker 1: Know, one horrible day of your life.
- 2:18:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:18:35Speaker 1: Can I have a break? No, you finish it.
- 2:18:38Speaker 2: Rittered away day, you know, I'll never get back.
- 2:18:41Speaker 5: Um, yeah.
- 2:18:43Speaker 2: So I don't know how I take it, but it
- 2:18:44Speaker 2: does feel kind of like kill bill one and two.
- 2:18:47Speaker 2: They feel like different mood, you know, different movies.
- 2:18:49Speaker 1: Um, If only it was that caliber of film. Right.
- 2:18:55Speaker 8: Right.
- 2:18:55Speaker 2: Right. So this one here just feels like, man, this
- 2:18:58Speaker 2: feels like, yeah, made for TV. Uh, cause they just
- 2:19:02Speaker 2: wasted so much time to get to, to get to something.
- 2:19:06Speaker 2: So it felt like dead, you know?
- 2:19:08Speaker 1: Well, it's that same question I had last episode too,
- 2:19:12Speaker 1: part one where I was like, it's the same question.
- 2:19:14Speaker 1: I feel like so many forms of entertainment are asking
- 2:19:18Speaker 1: and don't know how to answer now is like, do we,
- 2:19:21Speaker 1: do we make a movie? Do we make a limited series?
- 2:19:24Speaker 1: Do we make a full running series? Like what, what
- 2:19:27Speaker 1: do we do with this story? And like, I swear
- 2:19:29Speaker 1: 50% of the time, it feels like they make the
- 2:19:32Speaker 1: wrong call and when they get into it, it's like,
- 2:19:34Speaker 1: all right, we've got an awesome two and a half
- 2:19:36Speaker 1: hours worth of story here.
- 2:19:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:19:38Speaker 1: We got eight hours to fill. What do you want
- 2:19:40Speaker 1: to do? Right. And that's sort of how this came along.
- 2:19:44Speaker 1: It's like somewhere in here, you could make like a
- 2:19:46Speaker 1: tight 90 minute action movie. We have four and a
- 2:19:51Speaker 1: half hours or however long that first movie was too.
- 2:19:54Speaker 1: It's just like, it's a lot of stuff sort of
- 2:19:58Speaker 1: drug out in ways that probably doesn't need to be.
- 2:20:00Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 2:20:01Speaker 1: When you could tell like a simple story that maybe
- 2:20:04Speaker 1: had something to offer.
- 2:20:06Speaker 2: Right right movies used to be you showed it once
- 2:20:10Speaker 2: you got you try to pack it all in all
- 2:20:12Speaker 2: your ideas into that movie and but you had to
- 2:20:15Speaker 2: make it coherent because you're going to come out you
- 2:20:18Speaker 2: got like three weeks to make your money and then
- 2:20:21Speaker 2: that movie goes away you know and then if.
- 2:20:24Speaker 1: You far back enough nobody ever saw.
- 2:20:27Speaker 2: It again everybody ever saw again you had to.
- 2:20:29Speaker 1: Wait in a box somewhere in a vault, and if
- 2:20:33Speaker 1: you're lucky, a million years later, they might do a
- 2:20:36Speaker 1: re-release on it, until cable television came along.
- 2:20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and then cable, home video, so now
- 2:20:42Speaker 2: movies have a second life, so yeah, you made them,
- 2:20:45Speaker 2: but still, you were going to make that one, and
- 2:20:48Speaker 2: hopefully it sold, and then you have, like, you can
- 2:20:50Speaker 2: make another one, or make some other movies, you know,
- 2:20:52Speaker 2: but that particular movie, it had to be a story,
- 2:20:56Speaker 2: and And it had to be good enough for somebody
- 2:20:59Speaker 2: to want to buy the DVD of it. Or come
- 2:21:01Speaker 2: see it at the theater first and then buy the DVD.
- 2:21:05Speaker 2: Now movies with a subscription thing, they're saying like, here's
- 2:21:08Speaker 2: this movie. But if we make a 90-minute movie, you're
- 2:21:13Speaker 2: not going to feel like you're getting your subscription worth.
- 2:21:16Speaker 2: Or we can't get you to keep the subscription going.
- 2:21:20Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll watch that 90-minute movie and cancel. Yeah, cancel.
- 2:21:24Speaker 2: So everything has got to be.
- 2:21:26Speaker 1: drug.
- 2:21:29Speaker 2: Out because that's the subscription model because if they don't
- 2:21:33Speaker 2: if we don't leave them on the hook they're gonna
- 2:21:35Speaker 2: like cancel their subscription so that's a damn problem that's
- 2:21:39Speaker 2: a damn problem it really like it is it's a
- 2:21:42Speaker 2: damn problem.
- 2:21:42Speaker 1: It is something that i think like has shifted and
- 2:21:45Speaker 1: it shifted before the people behind the scenes creating these
- 2:21:50Speaker 1: things had even figured it out yet So I think
- 2:21:52Speaker 1: that's why we've had so many series lately that I'm like,
- 2:21:56Speaker 1: do you guys know what you're doing? And sometimes the
- 2:22:00Speaker 1: other way, sometimes I see a movie and I'm like, well,
- 2:22:03Speaker 1: this has a big epic story that you could have
- 2:22:05Speaker 1: told in a 12 part series, but instead you tried
- 2:22:09Speaker 1: to cram it into a three hour movie. And it's like,
- 2:22:12Speaker 1: this could have worked better longer. So again, it's, it's
- 2:22:16Speaker 1: an art of figuring out how to, present these stories
- 2:22:19Speaker 1: to people now that we have so many different ways
- 2:22:22Speaker 1: to do it. But yeah, I think the technology showed
- 2:22:25Speaker 1: up before the people figured out how to do that.
- 2:22:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:22:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:22:30Speaker 2: I mean, it used to be, I mean, it's not
- 2:22:34Speaker 2: about box office anymore.
- 2:22:37Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:22:37Speaker 2: How many people you got to come out to see
- 2:22:39Speaker 2: your movie. It's about.
- 2:22:40Speaker 1: Nobody does that anymore.
- 2:22:42Speaker 8: Right.
- 2:22:42Speaker 2: It's about ratings now. Well, how many subscribers are tuning in?
- 2:22:47Speaker 2: It's about who's tuning in. and so it's not it's
- 2:22:51Speaker 2: like the thing is keep them hooked yeah i.
- 2:22:54Speaker 1: Don't even think they care if you tune in it's
- 2:22:56Speaker 1: who's signing up who's not canceling like that's right i
- 2:23:01Speaker 1: don't know i mean that's the thing even people in
- 2:23:03Speaker 1: the industry that i hear talk about it they're like
- 2:23:05Speaker 1: well we don't really know how many views it gets
- 2:23:07Speaker 1: yeah sometimes the people behind it will release a number
- 2:23:11Speaker 1: but the they can make up whatever the hell we want.
- 2:23:13Speaker 1: How would we know if Netflix says, Oh, a billion
- 2:23:16Speaker 1: people watch this. What are we going to check? Like
- 2:23:19Speaker 1: they can make a press release that says whatever. But
- 2:23:22Speaker 1: I mean, as if he is like Nielsen ratings where
- 2:23:25Speaker 1: at least you had something to go on. We're streaming.
- 2:23:28Speaker 1: I don't think anybody knows.
- 2:23:30Speaker 2: It's all very black box.
- 2:23:32Speaker 1: You don't, yeah. You don't even have a box office
- 2:23:35Speaker 1: to go by anymore where you're like, well, this one
- 2:23:37Speaker 1: did well. There's other stuff that like they release. And
- 2:23:39Speaker 1: I'm like, that was cool. Let's have another season. And
- 2:23:42Speaker 1: it never comes back. And it's like, well, why? You
- 2:23:45Speaker 1: don't even know if anybody watched it. Like, what are
- 2:23:48Speaker 1: you using to determine it? Are you going by press?
- 2:23:50Speaker 1: Are you going by buzz on the internet? Like, what
- 2:23:53Speaker 1: gets you another round, another movie, another series? Like, who
- 2:23:57Speaker 1: knows anymore? Like, it seems like we haven't even figured
- 2:24:00Speaker 1: any of this stuff out yet.
- 2:24:03Speaker 2: I just need everything to just be.
- 2:24:06Speaker 2: I just need everything just to be ran by AI already,
- 2:24:10Speaker 2: because if it's AI doing this, I mean, okay, I understand.
- 2:24:14Speaker 2: But it's the people doing this and destroying everything.
- 2:24:17Speaker 7: I'm going like.
- 2:24:19Speaker 1: You really have to blame somebody then.
- 2:24:20Speaker 2: Yeah, then we have somebody to blame other than ourselves.
- 2:24:24Speaker 1: I mean, that's the thing. Everybody just complains about AI
- 2:24:27Speaker 1: stuff on the internet. So if you saw something bad
- 2:24:30Speaker 1: that AI put together, you just shrug it off. That's
- 2:24:33Speaker 1: why I started putting those stupid photos on our episodes.
- 2:24:36Speaker 1: I was like, no, exactly. This is what I'm saying.
- 2:24:39Speaker 1: Look how dumb these images are. That's what we're talking about.
- 2:24:44Speaker 1: So people probably hate that I use that to make
- 2:24:46Speaker 1: those images. But I'm like, that's my point.
- 2:24:49Speaker 9: Look how ridiculous these images are.
- 2:24:52Speaker 1: If you had a person behind it, they wouldn't come
- 2:24:55Speaker 1: up with this crap. That's sort of the same thing.
- 2:24:58Speaker 1: If a bad movie gets made by a robot somewhere,
- 2:25:00Speaker 1: you just shrug and go, eh, it's AI. Who cares?
- 2:25:03Speaker 2: It's AI. Who cares?
- 2:25:04Speaker 1: You could just blow it off because it's not a
- 2:25:06Speaker 1: real thing anyway.
- 2:25:07Speaker 2: You're not hurting anybody's feelings.
- 2:25:09Speaker 1: AI isn't real art. That's what artists keep saying on
- 2:25:13Speaker 1: the internet. If we just let them make all these movies...
- 2:25:16Speaker 1: They can be bad and we don't have to like
- 2:25:18Speaker 1: put anything to it. We can just be like, eh,
- 2:25:20Speaker 1: just another bad AI movie, whatever. Yeah.
- 2:25:24Speaker 2: It's just going to be like who the artist in
- 2:25:27Speaker 2: the future is going to be the person who can
- 2:25:28Speaker 2: speak the best to the AI to make the most
- 2:25:31Speaker 2: compelling images.
- 2:25:33Speaker 1: Or who can put them out the fastest. We just
- 2:25:37Speaker 1: need content. What can we crank out faster?
- 2:25:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:25:40Speaker 1: Using AI, that's cut out a lot of people. And
- 2:25:43Speaker 1: by that, I mean all of them. So whose new
- 2:25:46Speaker 1: program can put out stuff faster than the old program?
- 2:25:49Speaker 1: Like that's what it's going to come down to.
- 2:25:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:25:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:25:52Speaker 2: Well, we were talking about how many people worked on
- 2:25:54Speaker 2: this movie, uh, you know, just recently. And, uh, I
- 2:25:59Speaker 2: hope I haven't already talked about this last time we
- 2:26:01Speaker 2: talked about this.
- 2:26:02Speaker 1: Jesus.
- 2:26:03Speaker 2: Um, stop me if I have, uh, if you remember either, but, uh,
- 2:26:09Speaker 2: you know, here in Atlanta, you know, Tyler Perry just, uh,
- 2:26:12Speaker 2: he canceled this big construction project to make all these
- 2:26:16Speaker 2: studios because he had a demonstration of, uh, of AI
- 2:26:22Speaker 2: and what they can do now with like video generation.
- 2:26:25Speaker 2: And so he saw that and he goes like, why
- 2:26:28Speaker 2: am I building sound stages? You know, I mean, this
- 2:26:32Speaker 2: is ridiculous. And so he can't, he put all that
- 2:26:35Speaker 2: investment on hold. And so all these thousands of people
- 2:26:39Speaker 2: who are clicking mouses on these movies, uh, You know,
- 2:26:43Speaker 2: if you can just say, like, Zack Snyder's Star Wars,
- 2:26:46Speaker 2: make it. And it just makes a whole set.
- 2:26:49Speaker 1: Make it two hours, go.
- 2:26:52Speaker 2: Yeah, please, don't ever say that. That's the problem.
- 2:26:54Speaker 1: Make it seven hours, go.
- 2:26:57Speaker 2: Right, right, exactly. And so all those people that, like,
- 2:27:02Speaker 2: made the sets or, you know, shot the thing, you know,
- 2:27:05Speaker 2: I mean, it's just like.
- 2:27:08Speaker 2: You know, it's kind of scary that, you know, it
- 2:27:11Speaker 2: might be, it might go back down to the, you know,
- 2:27:14Speaker 2: independent films in the sixties where you have five people
- 2:27:16Speaker 2: in the group.
- 2:27:20Speaker 1: We definitely haven't covered that. So I'm glad you brought
- 2:27:23Speaker 1: it up, but yeah, well, and especially it's weird coming
- 2:27:25Speaker 1: from him because he was like from plays, like he
- 2:27:29Speaker 1: came out of old school theater, you know, he wasn't
- 2:27:33Speaker 1: even like, born in the video game world and like
- 2:27:37Speaker 1: that's where he came up and who needs people anyway.
- 2:27:39Speaker 1: right he wrote plays he put together plays you need
- 2:27:43Speaker 1: physical people standing in front of you to make these
- 2:27:46Speaker 1: plays happen exactly now it's like he's come so far
- 2:27:50Speaker 1: in the industry that yeah eh, who needs these people?
- 2:27:54Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't even need that.
- 2:27:55Speaker 1: Maybe he's just so sick of actors at this point.
- 2:27:57Speaker 1: He's just like, you know how many plays I have
- 2:28:00Speaker 1: put on in my life? And the worst thing are
- 2:28:03Speaker 1: these damn actors. What if I could just eliminate.
- 2:28:06Speaker 2: All of them?
- 2:28:07Speaker 1: And then somebody went, oh, have you seen this program
- 2:28:09Speaker 1: I made?
- 2:28:10Speaker 14: Yes.
- 2:28:11Speaker 2: Cancel that. You know, I mean, I think he's already
- 2:28:13Speaker 2: kind of going in that direction. The last movie of
- 2:28:16Speaker 2: his I tried to watch, I think, was Medea's Funeral
- 2:28:20Speaker 2: or something. Last Rites or something like that. I thought
- 2:28:24Speaker 2: I only got about 10 minutes in because I thought
- 2:28:27Speaker 2: the movie looked like a series of Getty images kind
- 2:28:30Speaker 2: of like strung together. And I was kind of like.
- 2:28:33Speaker 2: I don't know if this is actually a movie or...
- 2:28:36Speaker 2: Did you.
- 2:28:37Speaker 1: Get a license? Did he at least pay the giant
- 2:28:40Speaker 1: fee to use these photos?
- 2:28:41Speaker 2: I almost think I saw some watermarks on some of
- 2:28:44Speaker 2: the shots. He just stole them. I was just like... You.
- 2:28:48Speaker 1: Know, if anybody has money to buy them, it's you, man.
- 2:28:51Speaker 2: Yeah, dude.
- 2:28:52Speaker 1: You've got all the money.
- 2:28:54Speaker 2: It was really funny. It was like a conversation between
- 2:28:56Speaker 2: this family. But, I mean, then Medea shows up and obviously, obviously...
- 2:29:03Speaker 2: was not shot at the same time as all the
- 2:29:05Speaker 2: family scenes. I mean, it was like, it was like
- 2:29:08Speaker 2: the obvious cutaway to somebody who's not established in the
- 2:29:11Speaker 2: shot in a wide, you know, and then it's just
- 2:29:13Speaker 2: like cuts to a closeup of Medea talking.
- 2:29:15Speaker 1: In another city.
- 2:29:17Speaker 2: Six months later, six months later, the lighting was different.
- 2:29:20Speaker 2: I was going like, what, what is it? Is this
- 2:29:22Speaker 2: already AI or what's going on? I mean, I, I,
- 2:29:26Speaker 2: if I was going to like, if this is the
- 2:29:27Speaker 2: level that he's operating that, I think, uh, I think
- 2:29:32Speaker 2: AI could only improve.
- 2:29:37Speaker 1: I mean, I don't watch them now. So like the
- 2:29:41Speaker 1: first commercial for a Medea movie, I was like, Oh God,
- 2:29:44Speaker 1: not another one of these. I mean, I have to
- 2:29:47Speaker 1: see somebody else dress up in a big dumb suit.
- 2:29:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:29:50Speaker 1: Put on a funny boy. I'm like, I just, I
- 2:29:53Speaker 1: don't care, man. It's so weird because he did his
- 2:29:57Speaker 1: other movies. Like he had almost a one for me,
- 2:29:59Speaker 1: one for them. Like he's like, relationship dramas that were
- 2:30:03Speaker 1: serious and then put on a dumb video suit and
- 2:30:07Speaker 1: like all down that was what was paying his bills
- 2:30:10Speaker 1: and i mean i like i guess i respect that
- 2:30:13Speaker 1: that at least you're still doing the movies you care
- 2:30:15Speaker 1: about hopefully yeah but eventually i was just like i
- 2:30:18Speaker 1: can't i can't with you man stop making these video
- 2:30:22Speaker 1: movies yeah you're already rich now stop making them.
- 2:30:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I mean, he's basically here in Atlanta. He's
- 2:30:30Speaker 2: like an industry in himself.
- 2:30:32Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 2:30:33Speaker 1: He's like a mogul.
- 2:30:33Speaker 2: He's kind of like Robert Rodriguez of Austin. He just
- 2:30:35Speaker 2: took over the town. Yeah, he's just like an empire
- 2:30:37Speaker 2: on himself. But yeah, I.
- 2:30:48Speaker 2: I wasn't... I wasn't... I wasn't blown away.
- 2:30:50Speaker 1: What the hell are you saying? You were dazzled by
- 2:30:54Speaker 1: the last Madea movie? Shocked! I'm as shocked as when
- 2:31:01Speaker 1: they said the princess was still alive!
- 2:31:04Speaker 8: Gasp!
- 2:31:04Speaker 2: Yeah....
- 2:31:09Speaker 1: Well, that's how you know we've worn out this movie.
- 2:31:13Speaker 1: We ended up on Madea. So, I feel like we've
- 2:31:18Speaker 1: said everything we need to say about this movie.
- 2:31:23Speaker 2: Let's really talk about, get into what we really came
- 2:31:26Speaker 2: here to talk about, you know, the Madea series.
- 2:31:29Speaker 1: The finer points of Madea. Yeah.
- 2:31:32Speaker 2: No, I think we talked more about this movie's story
- 2:31:36Speaker 2: than they did, like, during the production meetings.
- 2:31:39Speaker 4: Oh.
- 2:31:40Speaker 10: Times 10 in five minutes we said like hey why
- 2:31:45Speaker 10: is this all about grain and uh nobody talked about
- 2:31:49Speaker 10: so they didn't talk about it as long as we've
- 2:31:51Speaker 10: talked about it because this was like the first things
- 2:31:53Speaker 10: that came up and so i think they just started
- 2:31:56Speaker 10: making images and uh.
- 2:31:59Speaker 1: He was just already out there with a camera and
- 2:32:01Speaker 1: he's like i don't know just go do something and
- 2:32:03Speaker 1: they're just like i don't know there's like grain and
- 2:32:05Speaker 1: stuff i guess we can pretend to be farmers All right,
- 2:32:10Speaker 1: keep shooting.
- 2:32:10Speaker 2: This maybe was like some kind of experiment. This was
- 2:32:13Speaker 2: all improv and every department acting in isolation from the
- 2:32:20Speaker 2: other departments. And they just kept putting stuff together. And
- 2:32:24Speaker 2: then in editing, it was made. Maybe this movie is
- 2:32:29Speaker 2: a documentary about.
- 2:32:31Speaker 1: The insanity of sex.
- 2:32:33Speaker 2: Of Zack Snyder's filmmaking process.
- 2:32:35Speaker 1: Zack's lost it with his weird obsession with weed. He's
- 2:32:40Speaker 1: lost his damn mind.
- 2:32:41Speaker 2: I mean, we were making this movie, the space opera,
- 2:32:44Speaker 2: but then all that kept coming in, the footage all
- 2:32:47Speaker 2: kept coming in was wheat. And then, like, there was
- 2:32:50Speaker 2: this breakfast club scene. And then there was, like, random, like,
- 2:32:53Speaker 2: Harryhausen spider women with lights. Anyway, this footage just kept
- 2:32:58Speaker 2: coming in.
- 2:32:59Speaker 1: We didn't know what to do with it.
- 2:33:02Speaker 2: We really didn't know. We really didn't know what he
- 2:33:04Speaker 2: was doing, what he was shooting. Because there really wasn't, like,
- 2:33:08Speaker 2: a through line of narrative that we could tell. And
- 2:33:12Speaker 2: so really we brought in the best editor in the business.
- 2:33:16Speaker 2: And this is what they constructed.
- 2:33:17Speaker 1: And after he shot himself, we brought in another one.
- 2:33:21Speaker 1: Another one. And we said, please finish this for God's sake.
- 2:33:25Speaker 2: For God's sake. And so, really, this movie is a
- 2:33:28Speaker 2: triumph of editing. Because the story was not talked about
- 2:33:34Speaker 2: more than two hours.
- 2:33:36Speaker 1: A triumph of the will, you might say.
- 2:33:39Speaker 2: Space Nazis. Space Vikings. Space, I mean, you know. Oh, God. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:33:50Speaker 2: I don't know, man. What can you say, dude?
- 2:33:54Speaker 1: I think we've said it all.
- 2:33:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I'm pretty proud that this held together with
- 2:34:00Speaker 2: all the technical issues that.
- 2:34:03Speaker 4: We were having.
- 2:34:04Speaker 1: I feel like we've gotten quite a bit out of
- 2:34:06Speaker 1: this ridiculous movie.
- 2:34:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:34:09Speaker 1: And we've figured out some of the problems with filmmaking
- 2:34:12Speaker 1: as a whole and It's Zach's brain. So yeah, I
- 2:34:16Speaker 1: think we've really, we've made some progress here this time
- 2:34:19Speaker 1: as well.
- 2:34:19Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, yeah. I think, yeah, I think I've
- 2:34:22Speaker 2: revealed myself as being, uh, you know, I think I've
- 2:34:25Speaker 2: made some progress in my relationship with Zach.
- 2:34:27Speaker 1: You're recovering a little.
- 2:34:29Speaker 2: I'm recovering. I'm starting to understand how I got in
- 2:34:30Speaker 2: this mess. And, uh, you know, I've, you know, I've
- 2:34:35Speaker 2: accepted certain things.
- 2:34:36Speaker 1: And, uh, baby steps.
- 2:34:38Speaker 2: Baby steps, baby steps, you know, baby.
- 2:34:42Speaker 1: Steps away from zach baby steps away from right right
- 2:34:45Speaker 1: we'll find you another movie it's okay.
- 2:34:47Speaker 2: That's right we'll find some other director to fix it
- 2:34:49Speaker 2: on um yeah yeah so i don't know man i
- 2:34:53Speaker 2: think yeah i think uh you know color commentary the
- 2:34:56Speaker 2: episode i mean i think we uh we hit everything
- 2:35:00Speaker 2: that uh i was thinking to say so that's that's
- 2:35:04Speaker 2: you know That's pretty good. I think we laid it out.
- 2:35:09Speaker 2: We gave it a fair shake. I still probably would say,
- 2:35:12Speaker 2: in the end, I like this movie.
- 2:35:13Speaker 1: And I like the first one. You poor, abused bastard.
- 2:35:19Speaker 2: I just can't. The cage is open. You don't have
- 2:35:23Speaker 2: to stay. You can be free. Go run. Be free.
- 2:35:26Speaker 1: Just run.
- 2:35:27Speaker 3: Go.
- 2:35:28Speaker 2: Go.
- 2:35:29Speaker 1: Go.
- 2:35:30Speaker 2: I'm just like.
- 2:35:31Speaker 1: You're huddled in the corner. No.
- 2:35:33Speaker 8: No.
- 2:35:33Speaker 2: This is my place.
- 2:35:34Speaker 1: He'll be back soon. He'll be back. And he'll be
- 2:35:36Speaker 1: mad if I was gone. I'll stay right here.
- 2:35:38Speaker 2: He'll know. He'll know if I leave.
- 2:35:43Speaker 1: Well, on that uplifting note, we probably should round this
- 2:35:47Speaker 1: episode out. But thank you for coming on this journey
- 2:35:52Speaker 1: with me. If anyone's left out there, thank you for listening.
- 2:35:56Speaker 2: For real.
- 2:35:57Speaker 1: If you have made it this far, you are even
- 2:35:59Speaker 1: more patient than we are with Zach.
- 2:36:01Speaker 2: I don't even know how somebody could listen to this,
- 2:36:05Speaker 2: make heads or tails of any of this.
- 2:36:08Speaker 1: I mean, if you've seen the movie, you get it.
- 2:36:10Speaker 1: You understand our frustration.
- 2:36:14Speaker 2: You get it.
- 2:36:17Speaker 1: But, much as I said last time with the, oh god,
- 2:36:21Speaker 1: the second one's coming. If he gets the funding to
- 2:36:25Speaker 1: come back, I guess we'll be back on this journey.
- 2:36:31Speaker 1: Trying to hold off my enthusiasm. The guests will be back.
- 2:36:37Speaker 2: We gotta say this real quick. I didn't really notice
- 2:36:39Speaker 2: this in Rebel Moon, but do you notice on these
- 2:36:42Speaker 2: Netflix movies they keep sticking their random stand-up comedians into
- 2:36:50Speaker 2: the movie? The people that have Netflix specials They keep
- 2:36:53Speaker 2: sticking them in rolls in movies?
- 2:36:55Speaker 1: No, but it doesn't surprise me. I mean, once you're
- 2:36:59Speaker 1: part of the... Again, if we're using farming terminology, the
- 2:37:04Speaker 1: company store. Like, once you're in with the company store,
- 2:37:09Speaker 1: everything keeps perpetuating itself, whether you like it or not, probably.
- 2:37:13Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know, like Tig Nagataro in Army of
- 2:37:17Speaker 2: the Dead. And then there's that Italian comedian who's like, oh,
- 2:37:21Speaker 2: we got.
- 2:37:23Speaker 2: Company coming over or something like that. Anyway, he's done
- 2:37:26Speaker 2: some Netflix specials. He showed up in the Martin Scorsese movie.
- 2:37:29Speaker 2: He showed up in another one I just watched. Jerry
- 2:37:32Speaker 2: Seinfeld's got a movie out with... I'm sorry. I'm dissolving.
- 2:37:36Speaker 2: I'm dissolving. I will save this theory for another episode, but.
- 2:37:41Speaker 1: Most definitely.
- 2:37:42Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You were asking if there's a
- 2:37:45Speaker 2: third one. Should we talk about it? I think we
- 2:37:48Speaker 2: probably should talk about it.
- 2:37:49Speaker 1: I'm sure we will.
- 2:37:52Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Brian. I went off on a tangent there, man.
- 2:37:55Speaker 1: That's never happened on this show.
- 2:37:57Speaker 2: You were wrapping the episode up and then I pulled those.
- 2:37:59Speaker 1: I was trying to escape from this movie.
- 2:38:01Speaker 2: You were trying to get.
- 2:38:02Speaker 1: Out of this and I.
- 2:38:04Speaker 2: I don't know. Good grief. I completely knocked the train
- 2:38:08Speaker 2: off the track. You were building up so much good
- 2:38:11Speaker 2: momentum to end this episode, and I.
- 2:38:12Speaker 5: Knocked it over.
- 2:38:13Speaker 1: Get the hell away from Zach, but here we are.
- 2:38:16Speaker 2: All right, man. Dude, sorry. That was not going to
- 2:38:19Speaker 2: be organic.
- 2:38:24Speaker 1: I think at best we can just escape.
- 2:38:26Speaker 2: Okay, okay. Thank God.

- 2:39:28Speaker 4: Drive me down again.
- 2:39:34Speaker 1: It's hard to be your scar.
- 2:39:36Speaker 4: A frozen satellite. You never got that far.
- 2:39:44Speaker 1: It's hard to.
- 2:39:45Speaker 7: Be your scar.
- 2:39:47Speaker 2: I'm cool like you.
- 2:39:56Speaker 6: Every sorry lie I can't live that down.
- 2:40:05Speaker 1: Down.
- 2:40:09Speaker 6: So you'll wait and see Caught between the seam and
- 2:40:18Speaker 6: me And you'll break me if you.
- 2:40:29Speaker 1: You'll break me, break.
- 2:40:31Speaker 4: Me if you can Drag me down again.
- 2:40:36Speaker 1: It's hard to be.
- 2:40:38Speaker 4: Your scar A frozen satellite You never got that far
- 2:40:45Speaker 4: It's hard to be your scar And cool like you.
- 2:41:31Speaker 7: I could hang around You could let me down Drag
- 2:41:38Speaker 7: me down.
- 2:41:40Speaker 4: Again It's hard to be your scar A frozen satellite,
- 2:41:57Speaker 4: you've never got that far.
- 2:41:59Speaker 1: So drag me.
- 2:42:00Speaker 4: Down again, it's hard to be your scar. A frozen satellite,
- 2:42:10Speaker 4: you've never got that far. Never got that far.
- 2:42:27Speaker 2: This is on my wife's computer because I can't figure
- 2:42:30Speaker 2: this stuff out anymore. I've blown a gasket somewhere. I
- 2:42:35Speaker 2: can't figure it out. She comes in. She sets it
- 2:42:39Speaker 2: up on her computer. She does a lot of recordings.
- 2:42:44Speaker 2: Got me set up. It's coming up and then I
- 2:42:47Speaker 2: couldn't hear you so I'm going like, oh man, I
- 2:42:50Speaker 2: might have to call in the specialist here. I dove
- 2:42:53Speaker 2: in and figured it out. I was on the wrong speaker.
- 2:43:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Old Gosh talking about electronics. Today we're going
- 2:43:06Speaker 1: to talk about cell phones. How come the writing's so small?
- 2:43:09Speaker 1: Can't hit those little buttons.
- 2:43:12Speaker 2: This is this past five minutes or the best conversation.
- 2:43:17Speaker 2: This conversation is actually us reading from the script of
- 2:43:21Speaker 2: hackers to middle-aged hackers. I mean, I feel like.
- 2:43:29Speaker 1: We could get Shaggy to come on board.
- 2:43:32Speaker 2: That'd be awesome.
- 2:43:34Speaker 1: He had that network show for a while, but it
- 2:43:36Speaker 1: got canceled, so he probably needs some work. It's fine.
- 2:43:39Speaker 2: Oh, no, no, no. Shaggy is having a renaissance because
- 2:43:45Speaker 2: he was in that Five Nights movie, so he's part
- 2:43:47Speaker 2: of the whole internet ire or adoration of that new
- 2:43:53Speaker 2: Five Nights at Freddy's movie that came out this year.
- 2:43:56Speaker 2: Cause he plays like this famous character. I know all
- 2:43:59Speaker 2: about the lore. All right. I've got middle schoolers and
- 2:44:01Speaker 2: high schoolers.
- 2:44:02Speaker 1: So that is not my fault.
- 2:44:05Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I'm telling you life decisions, right? So
- 2:44:07Speaker 2: I know all about the five nights. I'm not going
- 2:44:09Speaker 2: to get into it, but a sequel to hackers would
- 2:44:12Speaker 2: be hilarious. If you had the same five characters, just
- 2:44:15Speaker 2: trying to do basic shit.
- 2:44:18Speaker 1: Just like I can't where's the other there's another screen
- 2:44:21Speaker 1: how's there another screen I only have one screen.
- 2:44:24Speaker 2: You got Johnny Lee Miller and Angela Jolie trying to
- 2:44:29Speaker 2: do a zoom call and they just can't get it.
- 2:44:33Speaker 1: Johnny Lee Miller's standing there yelling at the computer and
- 2:44:35Speaker 1: she walks up and hits the power button like look
- 2:44:39Speaker 1: let's start at the beginning you haven't turned the computer
- 2:44:42Speaker 1: on yet grandpa oh damn it damn the man The world.
- 2:44:48Speaker 2: The world.
