- 0:08Speaker 1: Hello, what's going on? Everyone?
- 0:09Speaker 2: Welcome into another episode of the check O'dei. It's Andrew Tochecko,
- 0:12Speaker 2: Eagles beat reporter for insidethebirds dot Com, with you, Day twelve.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Of Eagles training camp.
- 0:16Speaker 2: I don't have a ton for you because it was
- 0:18Speaker 2: a short practice categorized as yellow. Wasn't the cleanest practice
- 0:24Speaker 2: in terms of overall execution. But after practice we heard
- 0:28Speaker 2: from Arnold A. Wakati, aj Apanessa Cam Jurgens, Moro, Jomo
- 0:34Speaker 2: uh Nolan Smith, and Tyler Steen, and then the injury report.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Not practicing today. Cornerback Jacoryan Bennett nee, running back Tank Bigsby, tow,
- 0:43Speaker 2: tight end Grand Kakata, back, cornerback Jonathan Jones, shoulder wide receiver,
- 0:48Speaker 2: mackay Lemon hamstring, cornerback Mac McWilliams groin, offensive lineman John
- 0:53Speaker 2: Adjuku pectoral, running back Damian Pierce hamstring, outside linebacker Jose
- 1:00Speaker 2: Ramirez hamstring, cornerback Sean Wade Eyes, shoulder wide, receiver Johnny
- 1:04Speaker 2: Wilson knee. By the way, Johnny Wilson did not play
- 1:08Speaker 2: in the preseason opener limited for the Eagles. Cornerback Tariq
- 1:12Speaker 2: Castro fields heel wide receiver, Danny Gray concussion, outside linebacker
- 1:18Speaker 2: Keyshawn James Newby ankle, wide receiver DeVante Smith hamstring, safety
- 1:23Speaker 2: Cole was Nesky hamstring. Good news for the Eagles that
- 1:26Speaker 2: Davonte Smith was practicing in a limited capacity after missing
- 1:30Speaker 2: a number of practices. Same with Cole was Nesky, who
- 1:34Speaker 2: had been sidelined for I believe the previous nine practices.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I have to go back and check my notes on that.
- 1:40Speaker 2: And was Nesky actually got a rep with the first
- 1:42Speaker 2: team that I saw. There were a lot of players
- 1:45Speaker 2: clearly as you can hear, that were down, and so
- 1:48Speaker 2: certain players mixed in, including Carson Steele, the running back,
- 1:52Speaker 2: got some first team reps. And you know, some context
- 1:57Speaker 2: is important here, but those are just some of the
- 2:00Speaker 2: the things worth noting. Sean Mannion spoke before practice and
- 2:06Speaker 2: had some interesting things to say. Talked about some of
- 2:10Speaker 2: the positives in his first experience, mentioning that they weren't
- 2:13Speaker 2: up against the play clock, which I think is notable.
- 2:15Speaker 2: He's going to be in the booth for the New
- 2:17Speaker 2: England Patriots game on Saturday. They have joint practices this
- 2:21Speaker 2: week which I will be leaving early when Tuesday morning
- 2:25Speaker 2: to get up there. So I have a lot of
- 2:26Speaker 2: things I need to tie up before I get rolling.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And yeah, so that was Sean Mannion. We'll get to
- 2:34Speaker 2: seven on sevens. Offensive line, defensive line. One on ones
- 2:37Speaker 2: were going on on another field, but I stayed on
- 2:39Speaker 2: the farfield and watched the seven on sevens. The safety
- 2:43Speaker 2: contingent was Marcus EPs and Drew mccouba. Linebacking tandem Zach
- 2:49Speaker 2: Bond and Jehid Campbell. There was the secondary that was
- 2:54Speaker 2: comprised of riek One, Quinnon Mitchell, and Cooper Dejean. By
- 2:59Speaker 2: the way, it's interesting that I should say it's notable
- 3:03Speaker 2: that Quinya, Mitchell and Cooper regime were back practicing after
- 3:06Speaker 2: missing Thursday's practice. So that's great news as joint practices
- 3:11Speaker 2: are fast approaching.
- 3:13Speaker 1: And also it's.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Especially notable that Saquon Barkley was not listed on the
- 3:21Speaker 2: non practice player list.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And those are.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Some of the some of the questions that I had
- 3:28Speaker 2: going into Monday's practice. But a lot of tight end
- 3:32Speaker 2: usage and the seven on sevens, Jalen Hurts hits Dallas
- 3:35Speaker 2: Goddard over the middle, which a hot Campbell and coverage.
- 3:37Speaker 2: There was another play where he dished it out to EJ.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Jenkins off to the right side. Just very quick, efficient
- 3:45Speaker 2: mid range. Not a lot of pushing the ball down
- 3:47Speaker 2: the field in the seven on sevens, But there was
- 3:51Speaker 2: one play where Danny Gray had a step on Riek
- 3:54Speaker 2: Wollen down the right sideline. They ended up checking it down,
- 3:57Speaker 2: but you could see Danny Gray was chomping at the bill.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He was fired up.
- 4:01Speaker 2: He wanted the ball in that instance. But yeah, I
- 4:05Speaker 2: mean you could just tell that he was ready for it.
- 4:08Speaker 2: And when you're a player like that, that doesn't get
- 4:10Speaker 2: a ton of opportunities, needless to say.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You're going to be, you know, rare to go, and
- 4:15Speaker 1: he had. He definitely had a step, but it ended
- 4:17Speaker 1: up being a checkdown.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Then they moved to eleven on eleven's where the linebackers
- 4:22Speaker 2: were Jahad Campbell and Zach Bonn. He had Cooper dejen
- 4:28Speaker 2: and Drew mccouba safeties and base first one in was
- 4:33Speaker 2: Marcus Epps. Marcus Epps did not play on Saturday. That
- 4:37Speaker 2: gives you an idea of how the Eagles view Marcus EPs.
- 4:40Speaker 2: I would also expand and say, what more can you
- 4:43Speaker 2: learn about Marcus EPs Who's been in the league since
- 4:46Speaker 2: twenty nineteen started a number of games in this league.
- 4:49Speaker 2: You want to learn more about the Michael Carters of
- 4:51Speaker 2: the world. Some of the younger safeties like Copina Gushi
- 4:54Speaker 2: Kin Maximus Pulley, Andre Sam has played and repped a
- 4:58Speaker 2: ton in training camp with the second team, and he
- 5:01Speaker 2: got a lot of snaps on Saturday Night. So Marcus
- 5:05Speaker 2: EPs Is clearly has the lead right now. But Mark
- 5:09Speaker 2: Michael Carter has just made more plays on the football.
- 5:13Speaker 2: That's something that I've noted throughout training camp. It wasn't
- 5:16Speaker 2: just today, We'll get to that play in a moment,
- 5:18Speaker 2: but it's you can clearly see that he has the
- 5:20Speaker 2: ball skills that you like, and he's just so new
- 5:23Speaker 2: to the position. And he does wear three different hats,
- 5:25Speaker 2: so maybe that versatility works against him a little bit.
- 5:28Speaker 2: But I think he's made more plays, whereas Marcus Epps
- 5:31Speaker 2: hasn't stood out a ton. That's not necessarily a bad
- 5:34Speaker 2: thing for a safety. He always seems to be in
- 5:36Speaker 2: the right place. He's fundamentally sound, which is some of
- 5:39Speaker 2: his hallmark the hallmarks of his game, and I think
- 5:42Speaker 2: what appeals to Vic Vangio and Quinia Mitchell had a
- 5:48Speaker 2: nice play. He broke up a slant route to don
- 5:50Speaker 2: Tavian Wicks. Don Tavian Wicks another player who didn't play
- 5:53Speaker 2: on Saturday, So again sometimes you learn a lot about
- 5:57Speaker 2: who doesn't play in these games, and Dontavian was another one.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Good pressure throughout the session from Moro Jomo. There was
- 6:05Speaker 2: one play in particular where he was able to scoot
- 6:08Speaker 2: past maneuver around Cam Jurgens on a play, and he
- 6:13Speaker 2: had another instance where he was able to do that
- 6:15Speaker 2: as well. Jayalen Hurts had a cross body throw during
- 6:19Speaker 2: the team period to Elijah Moore. He hit Darius Cooper
- 6:24Speaker 2: on the underneath route.
- 6:26Speaker 1: He had a.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Play that was a little questiona but later on, but
- 6:29Speaker 2: we'll get to that. Kapina gush Agin got some reps
- 6:32Speaker 2: at safety and worked in. Andre Sam worked in. He
- 6:36Speaker 2: got at least one or two reps with the starters.
- 6:39Speaker 2: They were mixing and matching personnel, so you don't read
- 6:42Speaker 2: a lot into it, but when you're down bodies, when
- 6:45Speaker 2: you're trying to present different looks, these are the things
- 6:47Speaker 2: that you do in a practice setting. There was another
- 6:50Speaker 2: play where Jaalen Hurst tried to hit Elijah Moore on
- 6:52Speaker 2: a deep over Elijah Moore had a step on Goosh Again.
- 6:56Speaker 1: It wasn't to be.
- 6:57Speaker 2: The past was incomplete. Andre Sam had a nice run
- 7:05Speaker 2: fit where he came down to stick. He came downhill
- 7:08Speaker 2: to stick. It was Carson Steel. Will Shipley had a
- 7:13Speaker 2: bed handle on the football.
- 7:16Speaker 1: He dropped it. I don't put that on the quarterback.
- 7:18Speaker 2: I put that on Will in that instance, at least
- 7:20Speaker 2: that's the way that it looked on initial viewing. And
- 7:22Speaker 2: I was watching practice from the end zone of the
- 7:24Speaker 2: field that they were working on, so I didn't necessarily
- 7:27Speaker 2: have the best vantage point, but it looked like that
- 7:28Speaker 2: one was on the running back Jay when Hurts hit
- 7:31Speaker 2: Danny Gray on a slant with Zach Bond in coverage.
- 7:35Speaker 2: There was another at play where I thought that he
- 7:36Speaker 2: held onto the football a little longer than you'd like.
- 7:39Speaker 2: He held onto it, padded the ball and Jay looks Hunt
- 7:43Speaker 2: picked up what would have been a sack, and we'll
- 7:45Speaker 2: call it a sack for the sake of this. But
- 7:48Speaker 2: then there was other safety pairings like Andre Sam and
- 7:52Speaker 2: Wiznski at safety. I thought Jeremiah Trotter Junior continued his
- 7:56Speaker 2: impressive training camp. He had a nice run fit against Jackson.
- 8:00Speaker 2: The running back who the Eagles signed last week, the
- 8:04Speaker 2: second team offensive line.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Some of the players that were on that line.
- 8:08Speaker 2: You had Fred Johnson, you had Mark l Bell at tackle,
- 8:11Speaker 2: Jake Majors, Drew Kendall, and Willie Lampkin as well.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Nobody loves grilling more than me. Could be thirty degrees
- 8:19Speaker 3: and I'll be out there grilling burgers and steaks. But
- 8:22Speaker 3: the one thing that I really can't stand is losing
- 8:25Speaker 3: my fish and my veggies because they just can't grill
- 8:28Speaker 3: without falling through. That's why I've been using Hexclad's BBQ collection.
- 8:33Speaker 3: It's bringing hybrid technology outdoors with products specifically designed to
- 8:38Speaker 3: make grilling easier, especially when you're cooking foods that normally
- 8:41Speaker 3: don't cooperate on a traditional grill. The hex Clad BBU

- 8:56Speaker 3: BBQ grill topper that gives you even more control when
- 8:59Speaker 3: you're cooking delicate foods like veggies or seafood, or if
- 9:03Speaker 3: you're cooking multiple portions at one time. Last week, I
- 9:06Speaker 3: grilled the best surf and turf my style, which is
- 9:09Speaker 3: salmon and ribs, and lost none of it because I

- 11:38Speaker 3: sent you Jay.
- 11:39Speaker 2: When Hurts hit Elijah Moore down the along the left
- 11:43Speaker 2: sideline with it was a quick hitter. It wasn't a
- 11:45Speaker 2: big gain, but it was a really nice timing bas
- 11:48Speaker 2: throw with you had campbell and coverage. There was another
- 11:51Speaker 2: play that followed that that was just a gas by
- 11:56Speaker 2: Dallas Goddard where he was open. They fired, They fired
- 12:00Speaker 2: the football in there, he bobbled it, He bobbled it
- 12:02Speaker 2: again and he ended up dropping the football. He had
- 12:07Speaker 2: nothing but green grass in front of him. That would
- 12:08Speaker 2: have been what they considered to be an explosive play.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Got to have that if for Dallas gotter, but he's
- 12:14Speaker 2: had a good training camp. But those are certainly plays
- 12:16Speaker 2: that you have to come up with the interception. Here,
- 12:20Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts launches a deep shot deep middle into double
- 12:24Speaker 2: coverage to wide receiver Ques Watkins.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Michael Carter I talked about him earlier.
- 12:30Speaker 2: He stepped in there to make the interception, and that's
- 12:34Speaker 2: his second interception of training camp. He's actually the only
- 12:37Speaker 2: safety that has any interceptions in training camp. I like
- 12:40Speaker 2: what I've seen from him.
- 12:41Speaker 1: The game.
- 12:43Speaker 2: There were moments where I thought that he looked like
- 12:46Speaker 2: a player that was transitioning to safety.
- 12:48Speaker 1: That's part of the.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Process, but in camp you can see that his natural
- 12:53Speaker 2: coverability and range and ball skills really come to life
- 12:56Speaker 2: on some of those deep completions where you have to
- 12:58Speaker 2: track the football. And so that was an interception. Saquon
- 13:03Speaker 2: Barkley lowered his shoulder on a nice run that he
- 13:06Speaker 2: had to the left corner. I couldn't see who the
- 13:08Speaker 2: corner was. It looked like the jersey was rolled up.
- 13:11Speaker 2: It could have been it looked like it was forty something,
- 13:14Speaker 2: but it wouldn't have been Castro Fields because Tari Castro
- 13:17Speaker 2: Fields did not practice. So yeah, I mean, well that
- 13:24Speaker 2: was pretty much the extent of this particular practice.
- 13:27Speaker 1: It was quick.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Actually it might I'm sorry, it might have been Castro
- 13:31Speaker 2: Fields because Castro Fields did play, did practice today. I
- 13:36Speaker 2: couldn't tell though either way it was rolled up, but
- 13:40Speaker 2: that was today's practice. I mentioned that we heard from
- 13:43Speaker 2: Moro Jomo. Moro Jomo spoke about the training camp fight
- 13:47Speaker 2: with Fred Johnson. He took full accountability for it, mentioned
- 13:49Speaker 2: that him and Fred spoke after Nick Siriani spoke to
- 13:52Speaker 2: them after that, and that's really what you want to
- 13:56Speaker 2: hear from Moro Jomo. He also mentioned that he's still
- 14:00Speaker 2: close with Milton Williams, who the Eagles are going to
- 14:03Speaker 2: see this Wednesday and Thursday and in New England for
- 14:07Speaker 2: the joint practices. But Moro Jomo, when he was talking
- 14:11Speaker 2: about the fight, he said, that's how football is aggressive.
- 14:15Speaker 2: But he you know, he said brothers fight and he
- 14:17Speaker 2: called it a mistake on his part, But that's what
- 14:19Speaker 2: happens in training camp.
- 14:20Speaker 1: It's not a big thing one way or the other.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Obviously you'd like to not see that, but the Eagles
- 14:26Speaker 2: traditionally do a nice job of avoiding those type of things.
- 14:29Speaker 2: But it's training camp. Teams are raring to go against
- 14:33Speaker 2: someone other than themselves and they're going to get that
- 14:35Speaker 2: opportunity for that. So I thought after practice it was
- 14:40Speaker 2: interesting to see Chance Campbell who's back at practice, he
- 14:44Speaker 2: got work with the second unit, sort of working with
- 14:47Speaker 2: undrafted linebacker Deontay Lawson. Afterwards, Deontay Lawson has flashed a
- 14:53Speaker 2: little bit and there if there is a fifth linebacker
- 14:55Speaker 2: spot to be had, they're both probably vying for that
- 14:59Speaker 2: same spot. But I I saw Chance working with him
- 15:01Speaker 2: after practice. I took a video of it. That was
- 15:04Speaker 2: a pretty good leadership on his part to work with
- 15:07Speaker 2: take somebody aside, and work with someone who is in
- 15:11Speaker 2: direct competition with you. And that was Chance's first day
- 15:16Speaker 2: out there, the first day out there after having the
- 15:19Speaker 2: groin injury, and they were slow playing him back into
- 15:22Speaker 2: the mix. Makai Lemon, it looks like he might be close.
- 15:26Speaker 2: He was, you know, he's been working on the jugs
- 15:29Speaker 2: machine and he was working before practice a little bit
- 15:34Speaker 2: with a trainer. I think he's close, but expect that
- 15:38Speaker 2: when he does, I imagine that it would be of
- 15:40Speaker 2: the limited. With a limited designation, you don't want to
- 15:43Speaker 2: rush that back. You have to start the whole process
- 15:45Speaker 2: over again when you're dealing with something to that effect.
- 15:48Speaker 2: But he was warming up this afternoon, and I have
- 15:56Speaker 2: no idea of no way of knowing, but it doesn't
- 15:58Speaker 2: seem like he's too far off.
- 16:01Speaker 3: As I've gotten older, I've really tried to concentrate on
- 16:04Speaker 3: my physical health, my body, making sure I'm putting the
- 16:07Speaker 3: right things in and the healthiest things in. I've always
- 16:10Speaker 3: heard about creatine, but I wasn't really sure about using
- 16:14Speaker 3: creatine supplements until I did the research to find out
- 16:17Speaker 3: what it was really all about. That's when I found Momentous,
- 16:20Speaker 3: which created Signature spec Creatine, their most advanced creatine ever,
- 16:26Speaker 3: setting a new standard for creatine quality. It's one of
- 16:29Speaker 3: the only creatines to be manufactured in a pharmaceutical facility
- 16:33Speaker 3: using reverse osmosis water purification and verified through an expanded
- 16:38Speaker 3: six stage testing process with four independent agencies. They've improved
- 16:42Speaker 3: the product experience with ultrafying powder that mixes effortlessly with
- 16:48Speaker 3: no grit or clumping. Hey, look, I like a good
- 16:51Speaker 3: creatine shake in the afternoon, and it's got to taste
- 16:53Speaker 3: good and be smooth. The benefits of creatine are very real.
- 16:57Speaker 3: It supports strength, power, lean muscle growth, recovery, and even
- 17:02Speaker 3: improve cognitive performance. And as I get older, all those
- 17:05Speaker 3: things are so much more important to me than they
- 17:08Speaker 3: used to be. If you want to try Momentous signature
- 17:10Speaker 3: spect creating head to livemomentus dot com and use code

- 18:29Speaker 2: So what am I looking for? Well, it won't be tomorrow,
- 18:31Speaker 2: but it'll be in New England. What will I be
- 18:38Speaker 2: looking for? Well, there's a lot of different things that
- 18:43Speaker 2: you can glean from joint practices that maybe you're not
- 18:46Speaker 2: able to assess when they're going against each other practice
- 18:51Speaker 2: after practice on the Jefferson Health Training Complex practice field.
- 18:56Speaker 2: This is going to be really reserved for the first teamers.
- 18:59Speaker 2: That's where you're going to see them get the lion's
- 19:02Speaker 2: share of the work. Now, you might see some other
- 19:04Speaker 2: players who do typically get a lot of reps with
- 19:08Speaker 2: the second team and maybe sporadically mix in with the
- 19:11Speaker 2: first team. I'm looking at Jeremiah Trotter junior, a player
- 19:14Speaker 2: like Byron Young, for instance. Maybe someone like Andre Sam
- 19:18Speaker 2: who has repped a ton exclusively really with the second
- 19:21Speaker 2: team and sprinkled in at different points with the first
- 19:25Speaker 2: team here and there. I'm not including Michael Carter in
- 19:29Speaker 2: this because Michael Carter is going to see a lot
- 19:31Speaker 2: of work with the starters. I'm including him in that
- 19:33Speaker 2: mix with Marcus EPs as well. So there are certain
- 19:36Speaker 2: players that will probably get some some quality work and
- 19:39Speaker 2: maybe it just it won't be just exclusively reserved for
- 19:43Speaker 2: the starters, but for the depth down the roster guys,
- 19:47Speaker 2: the depth players, they'll they'll be on another field and
- 19:50Speaker 2: get their work there. But I can't wait to see
- 19:53Speaker 2: Aj Brown. I believe AJ Brown slated to speak on Wednesday,
- 19:57Speaker 2: and there's gonna be plenty to talk of after that.
- 20:00Speaker 2: There'll be a lot to dissect watching him go against
- 20:05Speaker 2: his old teammates and Quinia Mitchell and Cooper dejen they're
- 20:07Speaker 2: really good friends, and so I think that those matchups
- 20:10Speaker 2: will be spirited. I don't know that you'll see a
- 20:13Speaker 2: ton in the way of AJ and his former teammates
- 20:16Speaker 2: as much as you'll see maybe some some maybe some
- 20:20Speaker 2: fireworks or some scrappy play from the lines, the defensive
- 20:26Speaker 2: line and offensive line on both sides. So that's something
- 20:29Speaker 2: that I'll certainly be keeping an eye on. By the way,
- 20:33Speaker 2: this was interesting at the end of practice. Sean Manny
- 20:35Speaker 2: and Eagles offensive coordinator. He still has his arm. He was,
- 20:39Speaker 2: He still has an arm. He was a former quarterback.
- 20:41Speaker 2: For those who don't know, and he was throwing deep
- 20:44Speaker 2: passes to the safeties and each safety would line up
- 20:48Speaker 2: and they would track the football and he would throw
- 20:50Speaker 2: it the different areas and they would go run it down.
- 20:52Speaker 2: I have videos on my ex platform on the X
- 20:54Speaker 2: platform at Andrew decheco of one with Marcus EPs and
- 20:58Speaker 2: one one of Andre Sam and every safety sort of
- 21:01Speaker 2: ran through that and it was interesting to see him
- 21:03Speaker 2: get in the mix and and you know, heaves some
- 21:06Speaker 2: deep shots to the defensive backs. That's really all I
- 21:09Speaker 2: got in my notebook. Uh, there'll be plenty more to
- 21:12Speaker 2: come in the next few days with the joint practices
- 21:15Speaker 2: where that's where you're gonna They're gonna be longer practices
- 21:18Speaker 2: and there's a lot more to to really take away
- 21:22Speaker 2: from that. But for now, that's gonna do it for
- 21:24Speaker 2: this episode of The Checko Daily. I'm Andrew Tocheco, and
- 21:27Speaker 2: I'll catch you all on the next one.
