- Lynn: Hello and welcome to tonight's episode of the Occultinarium. We are the voices of the Occultinarium and tonight's hosts are... Luigi: Luigi Amelie: Amelie Lynn: and learn. Tonight we thought we would bring you a little fluffy episode and introduce some of our favorite decks. We'll just start with one each this round. Difficult choices have been made, I'm sure. It's harvesting season so we had to pick just one deck and we shall... talk about why we like it and showcase the cards. So if you're on the audio version of our little podcast, we might advise you to hop over on YouTube so you can actually see the beautiful cards as they're being presented. So you won't have time to describe them all in detail. to you who are listening. But of course, if you'd us to just, you know, listen to us ramble about cards, then you are much welcome to just listen to that. Yes, Luigi, you are the happy winner of the episode that you can go first. Luigi: Ha ha. Lynn: Also, it's a surprise and none of us know which deck everybody picked. We can only guess or try and figure it out with our magical abilities. So, Luigi, what deck... did you pick for tonight and what's your favorite cards and what? Luigi: So it's very difficult to pick a another favorite deck beyond the ones that I use all the time, like the Smith or the Thoth. But I think this was actually one of my first purchase decks. Again, beyond the the usual ones. And I was even fortunate enough to do maybe one or two workshops with the creator. no, I think one workshop and one talk, like you know, just one conference call and whatnot. And it's naturally, as you may expect, it's very pagan, it's very Celtic, it's very magical, and very artistic. it's very eclectic in a way that it promotes tarot in a whole new way, but also maintains certain traditions like for example the the placement of justice or adjustment and strength. in in the original order of eight for justice or adjustment and eleven for strength so I'm just gonna show you guys the box so the deck that I chose to bring forward today is called the tarot of the sidhe so I yeah so I know the the Lynn: Ooh, that's... Ooh, yeah, it's very Celtic. And that's the tour. Amelie: Yeah. Luigi: way that it's pronounced it's written but it's pronounced she basically. and obviously the sidhe are fair folk. I'm not I wouldn't call myself a scholar, but I love the fair folk. I love fairies. but obviously there are individuals out there that if I were to refer to the sidhe as fairies, they might react in some way and whatnot. Some people might be okay with it. But yeah, they are part of the Celtic traditions. both both the UK England I suppose, Wales, Scotland and Ireland that they got their own versions or their own interpretation of this let's call it race 'cause it's part of myth but it also descends from still myths and and and folk stories and whatnot but at the same time slightly slightly connected to the descendancies of the inhabitants of this island. And I won't go too much, I won't get you lost into the details, but there is a myth that the inhabitants of the island, specifically of Ireland, I suppose, but it can extend to the rest of the United Kingdom, are descendants of the fair folk. But maybe that will be a topic for another episode. So the creator is Emily Carding, and they are an extremely talented tarot reader and tarot creator, obviously. as well as an actor and a playwright. very they do a lot of Shakespearean work. I've yet to see any of their plays because obviously I'm based in London and I think they played a lot around the country but something else from a bucket list. So a a Jack of many trades and definitely definitely a very powerful, talented, eclectic and unique creator. And everything that all of the all of the cards that you see here, again my camera is not the best, but they were originally paintings that Emily created. The first one, you know, 'cause I always wonder what is the first card that say Frida Harris or Pamela Pixie, in this case Emily, what is the first card they created and I don't know if there is any record for this Smith of the Thoth but for Emily It was the art card or the temperance card. This was their first creation. And look how beautiful it is. Lynn: Ooh, wow. Luigi: lot of solstice energy, which is very applicable Lynn: you Luigi: to the season of Sagittarius. Yeah Lynn: So powerful. Luigi: yeah yeah. The images are very what's the word that I'm looking for? They not triggering what's the word? they Lynn: definitely triggering something like yeah it's like Luigi: The yeah, but there's a there's a term, there's a verb that talks about how he stimulates you know, he Lynn: Mm-hmm. Luigi: he stimulates the mind, he li he lights a spark of some kind and all of the visions and the images of the cards do that pretty much. So I thought I would show you some of my favorites. My absolute favorite card in the whole deck is the Queen of Wands, or Lynn: Hmm. Luigi: like it's called in this deck, the Warrior Queen. I'll show her Lynn: Mm-hmm. Luigi: to you. once he gets there you go. It's the warrior queen. Amelie: wow. I did Luigi: Yeah, so Amelie: like the Temperance card or the card as well, but I'm biased Lynn: Mm-hmm. Luigi: Yeah yeah yeah. And s and Amelie: to those. Luigi: yeah. yeah, Lynn: Yes. Luigi: I know it was it was your screenshot for a lot of for a long time. screensaver, sorry, screensaver. But Amelie: It's... yeah, yeah. It's... yeah. Yeah. Luigi: here like the suits are arranged in this manner. So if you have pentacles, instead of pentacles you have the makers. So this is an image of maker nine, the nine of pentacles. and what I love about it is that that is The sun in the horizon, but to me it looks like a giant peach that you just Lynn: Yeah. Luigi: want to bite into. and again, each Lynn: you Luigi: card has a title underneath as well. This one will be Root and Blossom. Again, probably reflecting the season of the harvest and whatnot. and yeah, so for the makers will be the pentacles. Let's see. I have a dreamer here. The dreamers are the swords, so the power of the mind. This is the dreaded nine of swords, the dreamer nine. And look at that. Lynn: That is a great dream. Amelie: Ooh, I like that. Lynn: Wow. Luigi: Mmm. There's a whole there's a whole story Lynn: Hmm, visceral. Luigi: in that. There's a whole it's very visceral, yeah. it really evokes something from the subconscious. and then the cups will be the dancers. obviously I love cups, but I wouldn't call myself a dancer, so this is inviting me to step out of my comfort zone a bit. But here you have the ace of cups or the dancer. Again, a very beautiful card. Really beautiful. Amelie: That's very sweet. Lynn: she reflects the cup and yeah that's so cool Luigi: Yeah, yeah, exactly, exactly. There's a whole there's a whole hanged one situation going on there for obvious reasons. so yeah, you have the makers, the dancers, the dreamers, and the warriors for the suit of wands. and each cort card as well has not just a title, but like almost like a a mantra or a chant. So for the Queen of Wands, my favorite card Lynn: Mm-hmm. Luigi: in the whole deck. like look at the hair that mixes with the with the skies. It's utterly beautiful. Lynn: Mm. Luigi: And her Lynn: Mm. Luigi: mantra is the gift of charm, which Lynn: Hmm. Luigi: is something that I try to develop on a daily basis. another favorite card of mine, I will show you the Pan. So obviously, as you know, I refer Lynn: Hmm. Luigi: to the Devil card a lot as the Pan, and I too and I borrowed that also specifically from this deck because I think it does more of a service because obviously the word devil. especially in the way that it's interpreted a lot in modern tarot times it's not often the most inclusive and it's often it comes with its own baggages that word. whether pan it's obviously more pagan rooted, pagan related, eclectic in a way, but also inclusive you know I I suppose it's more compassionate and there is more of a connection to nature and pleasure and the senses and the pleasure of the senses therefore. so yeah. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Like like the sidhe here. Again Lynn: give in and say yes. Yeah. Luigi: the image is really the sidhe here they are giving themselves to Pan and they are celebrating in the realm of nature. Another thing that makes this deck very special is the back. So this is the glyph of the she and this glyph if meditated upon which is hidden in every single it's not hidden, it's sometimes it's very clear, but in every single card you will find this glyph within the art. And you're supposed to meditate upon it to gain access to the she, their guidance and all the beautiful gifts that the other world has to give to us. Lynn: amazing. If you don't mind, because you brought it up, if the hangman or the hang person, Luigi: Mm-hmm. Lynn: I'm very curious to see that. Luigi: Let me see if I can find it. Lynn: well there it is very obvious in this one but they're... Yeah where did you say they go? I can't see it! Amelie: Where did you say the glyph was? Luigi: Ha ha ha. Lynn: But they're hanging not upside down in this one but it seems more like... it's a perspective I guess because if you're looking from Amelie: I was about to say Lynn: the bottom of the tree if you're looking from the bottom of the tree you can't really tell which way they're hanging but they're definitely hanging in there somehow Amelie: It's like the hanged man is coming from the sky and hanging from the sky Lynn: Yeah, I kind of. Amelie: down, down onto earth. Lynn: but it's also like it's Luigi: I think Lynn: pulling things into the glyph or like it's like a Luigi: It's like a swirling energy. But yeah, I think it's Lynn: Yeah. Luigi: the tree is connected to the earthly realm and the other world where the sidhe live. Lynn: Mmm. Mmm. Luigi: so there is this there is this connection not speaking for the creator, it's just something that I reflected upon my own readings with this card and this deck. Lynn: Mm. Luigi: But there is a connection of how so basically depending on what's your school of thought you know, our souls, they all come from the other world. And when they are born in a body here, they die in the other world. And when our body dies here on this realm, they are born, like our souls are reborn in the other world. So I think Lynn: Hmm. Luigi: the hand one in this image in particular, w where that you can't really tell where the tree is, what's above and what's below, that's to me an an extension of the principle of life and death within the soul and the body. within the connection to the earth or the earthly earthly realm and the other world. but yeah. There you have Amelie: It reminds Lynn: I know. Amelie: me about something I don't know if it's true or not, because it's just something that I heard other people talk about, but I heard Luigi: Mm-hmm. Amelie: few. It's when they had these visions before they were born and they see themselves standing upon the dome, sort of say upon whatever it is. basically they say that stars are like pools. So you Luigi: Mm. Amelie: can see down and this is how you get born into this life and you see you basically kind of jump in there but obviously You lose your memory while jumping and it does remind me of like if you look up that would be like a portal with a hanged man that would be like the portal Lynn: That's a portal, yeah. Amelie: that he just jumped jumped out of because it's also a surrender card with a hanged man he surrenders into so Lynn: Mmm. Amelie: yeah it made me think about that yes Luigi: Absolutely. I just wanted to show you my my other favorite card. Lynn: alignment. Luigi: Yeah, the free the Warrior Free, the Three of Wands, which again very solstice energy and whenever I see the solstice energy I get very much like ooh excitement, return to Lynn: Mmm. Luigi: life. Amelie: Maybe think of the Stonehenge for some reason. Luigi: yeah, yeah, clearly, yeah. Lynn: the tour yeah yeah Amelie: But also makes me think about the Kyoto with the entrances, the portals. Because you go through like... Luigi: Mm. Lynn: The Tory, yeah. The Tory. Yes. Luigi: Was there another car that you were curious to see by any chance? Lynn: I would like to know if it's a strength, I guess it's a strength card rather than a Lust card, but I would like to see that one, how that's represented. Luigi: Ooh, wait until you see it. Lynn: Ooh. Wooo I like that! It's a dragon rider! Amelie: Ooh, a dragon. that's nice. Luigi: Yeah, so in this case the the sidhe is actually riding the dragon and here you have the glyph of the she. Lynn: Dragon Rider I resonate with that I I'm not sure if the deck is still available Luigi: And you can see that it's the number eleven. Lynn: but I will try and find it Amelie: That's so interesting! Luigi: It's definitely still available, yeah, definitely. Sometimes Lynn: Mmm. Luigi: I I believe 'cause I also follow Emily on Instagram, they were selling their paintings as well. of Lynn: Hmm. Luigi: the of the cards. I think they sell quite a few, but I wonder if there are any left. Lynn: Mm. Mm. Luigi: if I f if I could. They they don't have it available anymore, but I would have loved the painting of the Queen of Wands. Absolutely love it. I again I can't stress enough. Amelie: Maybe they have prints. Luigi: Yeah, no, I need to message them and be like, can I make a co can you make a commission? But I can't just enough how much joy this card gives me. Like just like the union of fire, earth, water and air, like and th it's like Yes. Amelie: also her posture is so perfect. The strength but it's also it's strong but it's feminine but you don't want to mess with her. Lynn: you Luigi: Yeah. And I also like obviously you won't be able to tell what the birds exactly what's the type of bird, but I s I keep seeing crows, beautiful crows flying into into the skies. Yeah, I use this deck mostly for my own ritual purposes. not very much in public. Which is a shame. I feel like I should do more of that. But I think because I'm a Capricorn and I'm so used to repetition, I usually stick to my deck of birth my first given my firstborn but yeah it's definitely one of the first that came to mind when we decided what decks what decks do we like? So yeah there you have it the Tarot of the Sidhe everyone. Please go and check out Lynn: Thank you. Luigi: Emily Carding. Amelie: I know that I've seen this before but Lynn: All right. Amelie: you made it sound even better. Lynn: Alluring very alluring. Yes Luigi: Yeah. And the another beautiful thing, Amelie: Hmm? Luigi: the booklet that comes with it, so d I think this is only for the majors, but every major comes with I don't know how to call it like a poem, I would say, but it's also an a chanting y if you wanna r say it out loud. Like it becomes a way of meditating with the major arcana itself. So not only gives you like keywords and whatnot, like I can give you like A since you like the strength so much, let me go to the strength one sec. and I don't need to read all of it, but who can ride the solar wind as I can? Who can face their fears and tame the wild nature of fire itself? I am the mistress of my demons, the rider of the dragon. Earth's energy surges through me and I am filled with strength eternal. My halo is the sun itself, and I am the herald of a bright dawn of fire. I am the beauty that tamed a loving beast, held with gilded chain and steady gaze. Lynn: Yeah, that is great. Amelie: I love that. really, even though it's not called Lust, but it made me think of the Lust card. Luigi: I know, I know. So Lynn: It has more of that energy. Luigi: that that's something else, like another Yeah, that's another beautiful X factor for this deck. honestly it's really amazing and the it's although the the only trouble that I have, but it's only because I've got small hands, the cards are as you can probably see, like look at how I hold them in my hand. They are quite big, so which I Amelie: You can trimm them. Luigi: I would never dare. I I'm not good enough. Maybe if you come around one day I can commission you to do that for me. But basically like but yeah, Amelie: Send them over, I'd do it for you. Luigi: basically you may depending on the size of your hands, you may find it difficult to shuffle but it's not it's not impossible honestly. It's worth it. Lynn: Alright, let me jump into my deck. my deck, Luigi: Ooh. Lynn: woo! My deck is not the first deck that I've ever had, but it's the first deck that I actually connected to on a very deep level and that made me just start to understand what the cards mean and what kind of energy the cards have without having to go to the books. That was like way pre-TMA and learning and all that when I was not knowing the terror yet and I had to go always to the books you know, like what does this mean, what was that again and that was the first that actually spoke to me in a soul level where I could go and depart from that and I have very much departed since then but that was the first one that was just like really hitting me and that is none other than Stephanie Pui-Mun Law Shadowscape terror. that is showing the empress on the cover and I'll try and do my best to showcase some of those beautiful cards. So her elements, they are the fire, water, air and earth but you have different animals accompanying them and where we kind of agree on or where it's the same is that this is kind of also a fae world. the wands, for example here is the page of wands. The wands all feature foxes or deer. So the page of wands in her element and then you have the queen of wands, beautifully charismatic Lady Faye playing her harp and all the animals of the forest are listening. Luigi: so warm. Lynn: It is very warm, I love it. What I like about the three of wands here, so of course there comes a story with all of them, but the idea is that this bridge doesn't end here, but you kind of have to keep walking and just trust yourself to continue walking the bridge. So it's invisible, but if you have enough strength and willpower, the bridge will just keep going. And this is quite scary, right, because it's on top of like a big gorge but this person looks like they have the willpower and they have a cat with them so yeah it's either cats or foxes in this one so I very much love this this is the fourth one so here you have deer creatures and a lot of fae folk that are just in complete bliss jumping through the forest Luigi: It's so golden. Lynn: It's very like the colors are very strong. She paints with watercolors. So of course these are prints, right? But all the original artwork is watercolor based. This is the five of wands. So you have you going against the flow of the foxes. So you have to fight to get through. And the ace. So the idea of the foxes are very strong in this one. and last but not least the knight Luigi: Hahaha! Amelie: The Knight of Wands Lynn: There he is, the wonderful knight. So that's for the Wands. For the water, we are of course water based, so we're having a lot of turtles and sea animals. This is my second favourite, or I can't really pick favourites, but my Queen of Wands obviously, and then the Queen of Cups are my favourites. The way she's just dancing, completely in tune with her intuition on top of the water. And she's just so in the element. I just love how she's... I just love it. I mean, just the energy is great. And also the blues and purples just really speak to me. Here we have the Knight of Cups on his quest for the Grail. Luigi: Mmm. Lynn: Also beautiful unicorn. And I just love the waves. It's just so... draws you in. Then the... Luigi: very suggestive. Lynn: Yes, the King of Cups with a little... You the idea that he's basically Triton, right? He's just listening to all the creatures of the sea and listens to their requests. The Four of Cups. I like the melancholy of it and her just being so submerged in her little glass with unsure, dead fish, floating fish, unsure. But yeah, I like that. And then you have Luigi: Hmm. Lynn: the Eight of Cups. going into the deep and the nine of cups pour pure bliss pouring out into the cup and here is the six of He Amelie: So cute. Luigi: Hello. Lynn: leaning more into the Smith idea of this childlike innocence but here's like a little child or fey child playing with the creatures of the forest or the forest and the waters Drawing everybody into a tea party. I just find it so sweet. And all these other fake creatures around just coming and joining in. Yeah, it gives me a very warm feeling. Luigi: think if I were to get a new deck, this would be the next one that I would get. Lynn: yeah, it's so beautiful. air? Amelie: I've seen now as well that they've done a new version, which is without the borders. Yeah, apparently you're Lynn: without the borders, yes, yes. Amelie: supposed to be able to see a little bit more of the artwork that way. But if it's bigger as well, yeah, I think I might do that too. Yeah. Lynn: Yeah, I think it's bigger. Yeah, I would like to get that. Yeah, I'd like to get that. Also, maybe... Yeah, also the print might be clearer as well. Well, air, we're in the birds. So the knight, mostly swans, but a lot of birds, all of the birds, knight of swords, the king of swords. I get a very Luigi: Mmm! Amelie: Ooh, I like that. Lynn: Odin-esque kind of feeling about faking. Luigi: Yeah Amelie: I get, you Lynn: Yeah. Amelie: know, this cart really makes me think about Sandman when he's sitting and feeding the pigeons. Lynn: Yes! Yes! Yeah! And then you also have any Luigi: Haha. Lynn: of crows. Yes, yes, true. It's a... There's a... There's a thing there. The Queen of Swords... yeah, Saria was wrong. Wasn't the Empress. Was the Queen of Swords on the... On top of the deck. Very beautiful. Like, I'm not afraid... Like, if people are afraid of the Queen of Swords, I mean... I wouldn't be afraid of her as much. The Amelie: I can't be. Lynn: Three of Swords. Also, you see the Smithsonian idea. the stabbed swan, the beloved ten of sorts She is falling, yes. Her cape is pierced by all the birds so there's no stopping the fall. Yeah, Amelie: love the red cape. Lynn: it's so dramatic. love it. The Six of Swords, Amelie: Mmm. Lynn: a little bit of a respite. And then I have the of Swords. Very random order. The Eight of Swords for some reason, when I started having this deck I got this card a lot. I was in a phase and also after. But the way that the Swan is entangled... And the more the swan struggles, the more it gets entangled. Well, it's like this hummingbird and the hummingbird is just like, come here, here's the light. You can escape the thorn bushes. Just go here. But the swan cannot. So that's so much for the air. And then we go to the pentacles and here we having dragons. Luigi: Grrrr Lynn: So knight of pentacles, earthy night. the King of Pentacles. We're having Oak King and Oak Queen. Luigi: la la. Lynn: I don't think I put her up, but she also comes out of a tree or is close to tree. Here we have the Nine of Pentacles. I just started talking about it. And what I love so much about this Nine of Pentacles is that it connects or this is the spirit that you're completely by yourself in the forest and you're creating something beautiful out of something that is kind of already... well I wouldn't say dead but I mean it's an old piano and a tree has grown out of it many hundred years ago already probably but it's still working and she's just completely you know lost to that beautiful artwork of nature and the music I don't know I just I just really love this one Luigi: It's really beautiful. Lynn: and then the four of pentacles the hoarding dragon the Luigi: Mm-hmm. Lynn: eight of pentacles picking which fruits are ripe or not Amelie: Dragon fruits, maybe. Lynn: dragon fruits and the two right and some I have some majors are there a few majors that I might have a nice mass stack of majors that interest you most devils in there I'll just there I'll just show you Luigi: Well, we'll see them when we're done. Lynn: okay and that's the fool a lady fool in this in this one the hierophant Luigi: huh. Lynn: I like a lot here we have more of a focus on shamanic. It's a tree person, right? This is an old dryad listening to the creatures of the forest. There's a little salamander here and a little bird and you see so many small, like there's so many details and everything. You can really look at them for a long time. So he's consulting the animals of the forest. That's the oldest and wisest thing there. The star. Amelie: That is really cool Luigi: Wow. Lynn: Yes, I don't think I have to say more about that. It's just this thing is beautiful. Amelie: swimming with the fishes. Lynn: The hanged man. Here a very voluntary, voluntary hanging definitely. Kissed by, Amelie: Mmm. Lynn: kissed by a little fey creature, you know. Amelie: I like that there's still an ankh in there like they would be in the Thoth deck. Lynn: Yes, yes. The strength guard. Lady and a lion quite classical. Luigi: Is the number Amelie: Peace. Luigi: 8 or number 11? 8. Lynn: number eight in this one yeah she uses the eight and the devil or the pan Luigi: Ohhh Lynn: yeah with a person chained up in here with a loose little chain playing playing with your heart if you let him the emperor the Amelie: I can jive with that Emperor. Lynn: yeah yeah the hermit Luigi: The world is beautiful. Lynn: yeah and the lovers a very sweet lovers and here's the Empress Luigi: Gorgeous! Lynn: the chariot, the and Luigi: Very dreamy. Lynn: the temperance just for you Amelie A Amelie: Yes. Luigi: Ha ha. Lynn: blue and a golden dragon mixing up. Amelie: Yes. Lynn: Yes and a little dragon creature here as well. That was a little bit of a showcasing. Amelie: That is such a beautiful deck. And I've seen it so Lynn: It is so wonderful. Luigi: Yeah. Amelie: many times, so many times, and I've been thinking of getting it. Lynn: Mm. Amelie: think with me, I've seen a lot of, you know, flip throughs and reviews of that deck every single time. Lynn: She wanted to see the moon. Amelie: Ooh, yes. Luigi: Yeah, please. Lynn: Yes, that's right. Please continue, Amelie. just... Luigi: wow. Amelie: I like the, what's it called, the mushrooms. They're so cute. Luigi: Hmm. Lynn: I like the masks you wear and the masks Amelie: Hmm. Lynn: you to take off. Luigi: So much artistry in this deck. Lynn: amazing and her newest deck almost more so I mean that this I don't recall how many years it's been since then 15 20 years or so and she has her style it has changed a little bit still the same style but she's using a lot of gold foil now in there in her artwork so it gives it this shine of course but it gives it this extra that I also appreciate very much Luigi: Hmm. Amelie: I was pointing that deck out when we were in London, it's like Lynn: Mm-hmm. Amelie: this, this is the one of those decks that Lynn loves. Lynn: Yes, I can showcase it next Luigi: think it's. Lynn: time. Luigi: think it's time, Emily. We need Amelie: Don't spoil it, no. Luigi: to get our own copy. Lynn: Mmm. Luigi: I think it's time. Amelie: Yeah, maybe next time we should all meet up in a shop and just buy each other's decks. Lynn: or buy each other decks, you know, it's giving, know, always, you know, yeah. So Amelie: well, that works too. Lynn: we know what do you want and then we just go around and buy you this deck and then it's a gift as well. Amelie: Maybe we should do a Christmas exchange. Lynn: like a non-birthday, an un-birthday day, you know? Yeah, the un-birthday. Amelie: un unbirthday. Let's do that. Luigi: Ha ha ha! Amelie: Let's do an unbirthday. Lynn: All right. Luigi: Thank you. Lynn: That was amazing. Okay, Amelie, yours. Show us. What is it? Amelie: It was difficult but I just wanted to start with something that is very easy accessible. So obviously I chose the heaven and earth. Lynn: yeah. Luigi: wow. Amelie: And it's funny because you have the fool on this side and you have temperance on this side and obviously you have to show temperance. Luigi: Temperance is following us Lynn: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Amelie: I think there's a few different versions. There's one in this box and there's one in a like a with a book. And I've seen also there's like little mini ones. I'm not sure how that would work because they're quite dark these cards. So you can't really see very well. But that's one of the reasons I think why I chose this deck because I like muted colors and even though the color scale is very important in a Smith deck I find it really annoying Luigi: Hahaha! Amelie: from a just from a like a visual perspective. The aesthetic Lynn: Aesthetic, yeah aesthetics. Amelie: it was just it I'm not saying it's ugly or anything it's just because the colors are there for a reason, not because, you know, I'm going to paint this guy blue and beautiful. So it kind of like bugged me a little bit. So when I saw this, someone did a spread with this deck and I was just like, what is this? And then I found it. It's, I think I mentioned it before as well. When I first bought it, I found it really, really slippery. and I didn't use it. It was just slipping around everywhere. And then one day I just, got so annoyed because I obviously wanted to use it. So I edged it. And when I edged it, what I normally do, I kind of clean them on both sides with like a tissue paper. And they're just perfect now. I like jumpers or like, I like when cards pop out when I'm shuffling. And this is why I'm very specific with card stock. And I find these ones have the perfect card stock. This is not all of the cards, but it's even thicker than that. I mean, the deck is quite thick. It basically goes like fills this Luigi: Mm-hmm. Amelie: bit almost. So the card stock is like nice. So if you like. that pop out. It's perfect. The actual artwork I assume is Jack Seferoth and the little booklet is by Luigi: What a beautiful name. Amelie: Jamie Elford. Lynn: Hmm. Amelie: I wonder if it's actually his real name. I don't know. So yeah this is what I'm thinking. Now I don't have the one with the big book. Lynn: Probably an artist's name, pretty sure. I'm just check. But Jack Sephiroth Amelie: Jack, my name is Jack. I'm very sure that this is not the only deck he's done but yeah this this book is very I mean it's thick because it has different languages but it's very simple so if you if somebody actually wants to dive into this particular deck then I guess getting the book and the deck would be a better idea but I don't think it's necessary because it follows, it follows the Smith deck very well. But another reason why I really like it, and I've been pointing out before, is because it also has the Thoth deck intertwined in the deck as well. So you don't have Pages, you have Princesses instead. But, but the Strength card is number 8 in this deck. So... Luigi: Mm. Amelie: I guess you can take, do this in the example of this card, I guess. It looks very bright, but it's, they're quite dark actually. They're not Lynn: Mm. Amelie: like super bright. You have the names underneath like you would in the Thoth deck. And then you have Luigi: correspondences. Amelie: their correspondences there as well, which Lynn: Mm. Mm-hmm. Amelie: I find really interesting. And I love the fact that they're quite small. and this is like a like an old scroll so it doesn't it Lynn: Mm. Amelie: doesn't bother me at all while Lynn: Mm. Amelie: I find it when it's just like a printed little thing it it doesn't yeah it really is Lynn: well integrated. Amelie: although it can be difficult to see if you're not very good at reading squigglies Lynn: Mm. Mm. Amelie: but when you know the cards it's very straightforward these are the backs I wish they had different backs though. I think the backs could be a little bit more interesting. But I'm not too bothered. I have some cards that I chose but there's loads of other cards that I just, they're just like random. So obviously the Lynn: Just us. Just show us. Yes. Amelie: Strength card, I took it out because we like to see it. Lynn: Mm. Mm. Amelie: I also took out the hanged man for you if you would like to have a look at him. So like I said, it's very... Lynn: Please. Amelie: it's still... it's the smith and the thoth wrapped into one. But the Lynn: Mm. Mm. Mm. Amelie: aesthetics is very... pagan in a way. Pelt and nakedness. So to say. Luigi: Hehehe Lynn: It's an aesthetically pleasing hangman. Amelie: It's, you know what, so let's go for the aesthetically pleasing men because I have a few here. Lynn: you Amelie: I thought I'd pick some out. One of the cards that I really liked for that was the Seven of Wands. I just Lynn: Warrior Amelie: find, yeah, it's just the power, the strength. Lynn: Yeah, you can really feel the determination. Amelie: I think this is a... Lynn: It's like, I'm gonna win over you. I can do this. Amelie: Yeah, absolutely. And it's like, I don't know, there's something with like, can, you can feel the wind in these cards. you can really feel they like the elements, even though the color scale is gray, with a little bit of red, a little bit of blue, it's so muted. But it's just very expressive in itself. The artwork is amazing. Let's see what other... beautiful man do I have? Six of Wands they're coming. They are coming. Yeah I really, I do really. Lynn: I don't mind beautiful women either, it's just like... Okay, good. A little bit of both. That's a beautiful horse. I mean, I am very... Not to say I'm attracted to the horse, but I'm very drawn to the horse. It's a very beautiful horse. Amelie: Yes, yes. I mean, because there's so much grey in the artwork, the shadows and the shade works really well. because if you have a lot of colour, I find it just... It just takes away from the shading. It takes away from the movement. I mean, I've always been a fan of like black and white pictures. So maybe this is why. But I just, I love that. I find that the eight of pentacles is a great card as well. Cause I make jewellery and it makes me think of like a proper smith. I don't look like this, but you know, Lynn: Mm-hmm, very Hephaestus, yeah. Amelie: yeah. And I really like the, cause you can really see him like sweating while doing this, how hot it is. Love it. Very sexy. Lynn: Sexy. Luigi: How that work? Amelie: I do have a, so there is a king of wands. Brace yourself. Lynn: Ooh, wow. Wow. Luigi: wow, inflamed. Amelie: I just love the fact that you have the lion there and it's... Lynn: fire as well, it's just so powerful. Amelie: Yeah and even though he's the king he's still showing off his muscle. No Luigi: Ha ha. Amelie: he's just, he's still showing that he can fight if he need to be. I think this is a great king you know. He's Lynn: Mm-mm. Amelie: there when it's needed and our favourite the Kinght of wands obviously I had to pick that. I do love it. Lynn: Hello. Hello. Also again, a beautiful horse again. Also like that. He's kind of hooded. Amelie: Yeah, I just love that it's just everything is just on fire. Lynn: Yes. Luigi: to the horses. Lynn: Yeah, yeah. Amelie: Yeah. I mean, horses are afraid Lynn: Mm. Amelie: of fire, but not this one. Lynn: Not this one is half made of fire, clearly. Amelie: Yeah, there's so many beautiful cards. Okay, so my favorite one is obviously the Temperance card. It's Lynn: Mm-hmm. Amelie: very traditional in a way. I don't know if you can tell because it's so bright, but there's... You've got all the symbols like on in white on her white dress and I quite like the kind of traditional and then the cymbals right in her, the sun in her forehead. I just really like that. Luigi: Hmm. Lynn: The elements are represented Amelie: yeah, we were... Lynn: so strongly in this deck, like the water is just gushing, the fire is just blazing. Amelie: Yeah, it has a lot of movement. Lynn: Can I see some air cards as well, too? Amelie: Yes. My fave... One Luigi: moving. Amelie: of my favorite, favorite cards is an air card. It's the... Hold on. Eight of... Eight of swords. Lynn: Yeah Amelie: And I think it's also because of the color scale because there's Lynn: you Amelie: nothing more I love than like a good black and white, gray scale picture with red or like a burgundy. That is my Lynn: and a red. Amelie: favorite. This is why like my edges are like burgundy because it just looks so good with it. Yeah, I love, love this card. Do I have some more air cards? That would be interesting. Yes, of course. Three of swords. Lynn: Hmm. Amelie: Also very traditional. Lynn: Mm. Luigi: You feel the rain. Amelie: pick, no. the things that I like about the Thoth deck. I really do prefer having the princesses and I like the fact that they come last and not like page. Yeah, yeah we were talking about the Nine of Pentacles as well. It's also very like traditional. Lynn: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Luigi: so luxurious. Amelie: Yeah and I love the mist as well. Very misty, very mysterious. Lynn: a bit more yeah it's a bit darker I mean the whole deck is dark but I like that there's so much like mistiness in those cars like it really gives you the idea like you have to imagine or I think my mind automatically goes into imagination imagining the things I cannot see in those cars Amelie: Yeah, yes. I love it because it has this kind of, when I look at it, it just makes me like a bit dreamy. It makes me calm and it makes me a bit dreamy. yeah, here is one of the princesses. there's the princess of pentacles. It's not crazy, but she's in the misty forest. Lynn: Yeah but no I like it. It draws you in. Yes. Luigi: Guardian of the Forest. Amelie: She also has pentacle on the stave, maybe she's a witch, who knows? The Lynn: Mm. Mm. For sure. Amelie: hermit is also very classic, but he just feels so powerful at the same time. Lynn: Mm, mm, yeah. Amelie: And another one of my favorite cards is the Two of Pentacles. Luigi: love the spectrum that we went through, starting from the Tarot of the Sidhe to Lynn's deck and to your deck, Lynn: Okay. Luigi: we went through Amelie: You Luigi: worlds of art. Lynn: yes, this is Mactonic. Amelie: Do you know what I love about this? I love the fact that you can see our like taste in like artwork and Lynn: Mm. Amelie: something that we really like because we all like the Thoth we all like the Smith deck because there are the classic, the classic ones but there's just so many decks with so many styles and I find it so interesting to see like what what kind of style, what kind of artwork besides the classical one that we love. And it shows our personalities as well, which I really like. Lynn: Yeah. Luigi: Yeah, that's a whole faction of Tarot isn't it? The deck lust. Lynn: They're taking on more Amelie: Yeah. Lynn: decks. Yeah, that was amazing. Amelie: That's the thing, it's just... it's never ending. You always find a deck, a new deck or something with a deck. Luigi: Well now, if anybody listening is looking for a present for a Tarot-ridden friend of yours, now you have three options, three beautiful options to choose from. Lynn: You got three suggestions. Amelie: I would suggest to edge this. Luigi: send the cards to Amelie so that she can Lynn: yeah against a small fee i didn't Luigi: custom them for you. Amelie: I am, I... Lynn: yeah i didn't show the backs but that's it that backs so Amelie: yeah. Lynn: i'm drawn to purples obviously this deck was Amelie: I like that purple color, I think it's beautiful. Luigi: It's so mystical. Lynn: Yeah. Amelie: Yeah, I don't know why I love altering my deck so much. I try not to do it too too much, But this one, it helped with the shuffling with this one. That's why I'm saying it really helps. So if someone buys it and they get scared because it's just slips around like crazy, this really helps. Luigi: And you did a good job. Amelie: Thank you, thank you. It took me a while but I just loved this burgundy color so much. very, very happy with it. Luigi: Hmm. Lynn: Thanks for the inspiration, I have now more decks that are on my list of want. So thanks for that guys! Amelie: You're welcome. Lynn: And I hope we inspired you as well, I'm sure we did. So check out the artists, we shall drop their handles below for those that have handles. And thanks for stopping by and have fun on your... tarot card purchases. Good night from us. Bye. Amelie: Spend, spend, spend. Bye. Luigi: Bye!
