- 1:29Some of us still carry the burden of battle.
- 1:32It threatens to drown us in our everyday lives.
- 1:35In battle, we had our weapons and combat gear to keep us safe,
- 1:39to keep us confident, but when we returned home, we were not
- 1:43armed with weapons and gear to cope with our own minds.
- 1:47I was lucky to find my combat gear, my mental weapon and it's
- 1:51called Kamago. Kamago is a drug free device
- 1:54that allows you to achieve calm in less than 3 minutes and
- 1:58moments of anxiety, stress, anger, panic or insomnia.
- 2:03Not with medication, but rather by activating the
- 2:06parasympathetic nervous system through breathing regulation and
- 2:09multi sensory stimulation. A recent study has shown that
- 2:13Comago decreases PTSD and anxiety levels in Veterans,
- 2:16helping those who are suffering and having a long lasting
- 2:19effect. Visit comago.com to learn how
- 2:22you can get Comago through the VA or with a special Veterans
- 2:26discount code. All right, good afternoon and
- 2:33welcome to another episode of the Frondosier show, Trench Talk
- 2:37Edition. You know, these technical
- 2:40difficulties, you know, you just got to go with how it goes when
- 2:42it's live, huh? All right, again, thanks for
- 2:44listening and tuning in. Got a very important show for
- 2:47you today. As always here on the Trench
- 2:49Talk Edition. Let's see what's going on in
- 2:52life today. I was sharing offline about one
- 2:57of the things that I do throughout the week.
- 2:59Twice a week now, Mondays and Fridays, I mentor 4th and 5th
- 3:06graders around emotional intelligence and just some of
- 3:12the conversations that I hear the children discuss.
- 3:18I reflect back when I was in the 4th grade.
- 3:20I mean, we all have our are eras of, of generational things that
- 3:25we deal with in school. However, it's just some of these
- 3:27conversations that I hear these 4th and 5th graders having.
- 3:32They're like adult topics. Like these are not like children
- 3:35just playing and having fun. They are at like literally
- 3:38having discussions and issues and circumstances at 9 and 10
- 3:45years old that you would think that like where are you learning
- 3:49this from? But as you look at, of course,
- 3:53you know, today's generation with social media, just with
- 3:57things that go on at home. I mean, they hear the music.
- 4:00I mean, it comes from all different aspects of life, I'm
- 4:03sure. But this year, it was last year
- 4:07I did it. It was, it was different this
- 4:09year that just, and even the principles, like there's
- 4:11something going on this right now and very emotional, very the
- 4:17language a couple weeks ago, I had to address the N word with
- 4:22them. And these are a, a group of, you
- 4:25know, between sometimes between 19 to 24 students that we have
- 4:30each week. And like I said, as a, as a, as
- 4:33a grandfather now with, with grandchildren and a five year
- 4:36old grandson, it's like, man, like how do we, how do we help
- 4:41develop our children to where they have the ability to have
- 4:47the space to share 'cause I'm, I don't think they act like that
- 4:50at home. I think they probably hear that
- 4:51in their environment and then come to school and then play it
- 4:54out. But yeah, this year has just
- 4:57been, it's just been different this year for me.
- 5:01And I, I get an hour a week with them.
- 5:05So like 2 hours since it's twice a week now.
- 5:07And I'm just grateful that I'm, I'm able to do that and plant
- 5:11that seed while I'm there to, to just share, you know, life.
- 5:16And, and, and again, they have these affirmations that they
- 5:19say, I, I'm respectful of myself, my peers, my family and
- 5:24my community. And they got them all memorized.
- 5:28But when I came on the scene, I wanted them to talk about and
- 5:31express what it is to be respectful of myself.
- 5:35And what does it feel like when you're not being respectful of
- 5:37myself or of your peers or of your family or your community?
- 5:42And believe me, they know what's going on.
- 5:44They all have, you know, they're different words that they use to
- 5:47describe their experience of what that is and, and, and to
- 5:52hear them share like ways of how they feel when they're not being
- 5:59respectful, even of themselves or their peers.
- 6:01But yet they act like, they don't even act like they like
- 6:04it's just a totally different act on the other side of that.
- 6:06So they know what's going on, but to get them to practice
- 6:10being present to that experience and how you can leave a person.
- 6:14Yeah, we say that, you know what can make you mad or make you
- 6:17anything? Yes.
- 6:18But you have to have that, that strength and that
- 6:20self-confidence and self love for those words not to affect
- 6:23you. But if they but words are
- 6:26powerful, right? And so they do know how they
- 6:30feel in their emotional mindset. But, you know, just creating
- 6:33that space for them to have that talk.
- 6:36I pray that that's enough that, you know, that will start them
- 6:40to get to practice that throughout their classroom
- 6:43because of course it it plays on in the classroom.
- 6:46It plays on on the basketball court playing football.
- 6:49So that's what I'm up to. That's twice a week.
- 6:53The lit live show, the Revolution radio show that has
- 6:58came to an end. That was a four year run over
- 7:02there when it was Dash radio. Now it turned to Lit Live and
- 7:05between the MC Knights and The Who curated that Channel in the
- 7:10negotiations of the new Lit Live platform, they did not come to
- 7:15terms. And so that show has been
- 7:17discontinued for now. I am thinking about bringing it
- 7:20here to MBR, the Christian hip hop talk show.
- 7:24So I'm either going to do that or I, I did send it to SiriusXM
- 7:31to see what, you know, what I could get over there.
- 7:33They do have a Christian hip hop talk show on their app and so I
- 7:37sent it over there. Or I might just take a break.
- 7:40You know, I got, I got a list of shows that I do and so I might
- 7:43just take a break with that one. I'm praying on that to see how
- 7:47that one plays out. What else?
- 7:49Sunday nights, of course, 8:00 PM Pacific Time, KCA radio on
- 7:53that one. The Steel live, that's the
- 7:54variety show with sports as well.
- 7:58That's my, that's my #1 show. This as well.
- 8:00That's my #1 show. Yeah.
- 8:02What else? The Beyond 2D will be coming
- 8:04back soon. Jessica took a break.
- 8:06So that one is on break right now.
- 8:08So we'll be back either this month or next month, but I'll
- 8:12let you know when that comes out.
- 8:16I think that's it. The ABA basketball teams, yeah,
- 8:19we have three ABA basketball teams in EQ athletics.
- 8:24And so we have the Ventura County Orcas, the Riverside
- 8:28County Mavericks and the in the Empire Hounds, the IA Hounds
- 8:32right now my, my partners are only allowing me to launch the
- 8:38IE hounds right now. I, I do want to launch the
- 8:41Riverside team and I would love to launch the Ventura County
- 8:44Orcas as well. But what I did was I, I included
- 8:49them into the ownership. And so now I, I, I don't get the
- 8:53only vote anymore. So I have to share in those
- 8:56conversations. So if I get out voted, I get out
- 9:00voted. So right now we're launching the
- 9:02IE Hounds for sure. They were number 10 out of the
- 9:05entire, out of the 150 teams in the ABA last season.
- 9:08They were #10 up to #5. So we want to keep that momentum
- 9:12going. And also I did, we created a
- 9:15campaign for this season called For the Love of Dogs.
- 9:19And you know, me and one of my partners, Doctor Bonds were
- 9:24talking one day and you know, I've, I've had to put my dog
- 9:29down, my Boxer down after 14 years.
- 9:32And he was talking about how he had his dog for like 17 years.
- 9:36And so we were just, we noticed that both of us was still kind
- 9:39of grieving our animals. And you know, but the eye hounds
- 9:43being the dog, a dog, I was like, well, why don't we just
- 9:48create a campaign and and around in all the different services
- 9:51for dogs and kind of and bring those conversations to the
- 9:54forefront, especially those who have grieving their animals as
- 9:58as we are. And so we're working on
- 10:01launching the campaign for this season for the love of dogs and
- 10:04this we're going to be touching aspects all the way from
- 10:07breeders all the way to the the veterinarians and of course,
- 10:12those places that cremate animals as well.
- 10:16So we're going to get all those communities together, the foster
- 10:22organizations, all the organizations, things that are
- 10:24related to animals, to dogs for sure.
- 10:26We're going to bring them together with our entertainment
- 10:29is basketball and share a lot of stories, share some content,
- 10:34share some information, some resources.
- 10:36I've been looking at stuff on on social media and I guess there's
- 10:40some issues with the president and cutting funding for the
- 10:45animal shelters. So there are things going on in
- 10:47the world around our animals. And so we're going to kick it
- 10:50off with dogs and they were going to ease the cat cat inside
- 10:55of there because I mean, I'm, I'm 55, when I grew up, you
- 10:59didn't have a dog and a cat in the same house because somebody
- 11:01was going to get eaten that day. But people have trained their
- 11:04animals to share the same living space.
- 11:07And so I'm always amazed when I see a dog or a cat hanging out
- 11:12together because like I said in my day, Nah, that that didn't
- 11:17happen. And when I had my dog, for sure
- 11:19that cat was going to be somebody's dinner.
- 11:21So those are the things that we're going to be taking on for
- 11:24the the ABA, that's the American Basketball Association.
- 11:27It's still around. And then we have a couple of
- 11:30franchises over there. I think that's it for now.
- 11:33So, yeah, if you want more information about the sickle
- 11:36cell trade, of course, you can go to WDCON, set.org.
- 11:41There have been some breakthrough conversations
- 11:44around sickle cell trade for sure, because they're starting
- 11:50to document that with sickle cell trait and exercising and
- 11:57the rhythm myelosis. There have been people dying of
- 12:03course from those complications. But the kidneys are are become a
- 12:08problem because the proteins that has been urine in in I mean
- 12:12blood in the urine. And so they're associating some
- 12:15of those issues and even the rare kidney cancer is triggered
- 12:20by sickle cell traits. So they're starting to pay more
- 12:22attention to it because it is causing health complications.
- 12:27So it is not benign. We've been battling that
- 12:29conversation since I've been at at 14 years.
- 12:32Is sickle cell trait benign or not?
- 12:34And so it took, it took some studies from overseas in the UK,
- 12:39not in the United States, but took some studies overseas for
- 12:42them to come together and document that, yes, there could
- 12:45be some problems with sickle cell trait in the kidneys.
- 12:50And, and we've seen people have complications and, and a rare
- 12:54kidney cancer that's connected to sickle cell trait.
- 12:58Oh, somebody put, they put, people have trained their
- 13:02animals pissed on the toilet. Yeah, I've, I've seen videos of
- 13:05animals using the toilet. They don't flush the toilet, but
- 13:08they definitely use the toilet. All right, so we going to play
- 13:13one more PSA and come back. I have a very important
- 13:16conversation for you coming up next.
- 13:17Of course, Big Dre is here. We got another guest coming on
- 13:20at the bottom of the hour about the 45 minute mark and we'll
- 13:25just be having a organic dialogues here.
- 13:28So again, thanks for tuning in. This is the front dose show.
- 13:31Let me turn that banner off because that is going to play
- 13:34through there. All right, we'll be right back.
- 13:51Hey, Mister man, how you doing? Hey, did you see the game last
- 13:56night? But did you see the shot?
- 13:58I lost money from that. Oh man, the shot was old man,
- 14:01but it was good. Yeah, what's the name?
- 14:11You really want to know. I do.
- 14:17Exhaustion, muscle spasm, asthmatic issues, unexpected
- 14:21sickle cell trait trait. Damn are.
- 14:24You serious? When I was young I found out I
- 14:26had sickle cell trait. My mom's told me but I didn't
- 14:29have no knowledge of it. But when I got older I had a
- 14:31child and the doctor told me my daughter had sickle cell trait.
- 14:34You know the. Fact that both parents have
- 14:36sickle cell trait, there's a 50% chance the child may have the
- 14:39trait and 25% chance of trying to have the disease.
- 14:43And that's what's the count. Do you know that 2.5 million
- 14:45people in the United States have sickle cell trait?
- 14:47300 million people globally. I didn't find out I had sickle
- 14:50cell trait until I was in the Army 10 years.
- 14:52Next thing you know, I had a sickle cell trait, exertion
- 14:55site, simple cell. I thought that was a black gene.
- 14:58Or something. Nah man, the black community is
- 15:00number 21 out of 36,000 babies are being born with sickle cell
- 15:03disease. You could be a Caucasian,
- 15:05Mediterranean, European. You got a bloodline, man.
- 15:11There is an inherited gene in our community that has been
- 15:13forgotten. The name is Sickle cell trait.
- 15:16WDCONSCT, also known as What's the Count, is out to bring
- 15:21awareness, education and prevention to people all over
- 15:24the globe. Want more information?

- 16:13there. All the schedules are there as
- 16:14well for all the different shows here on MB Radio.
- 16:18So today's topic is, you know, it's, it's very important.
- 16:21I, I, I lightly glazed over the conversation that I do with the
- 16:25elementary school students because it, like I said, I'm
- 16:28just, I'm just so shocked at their conversation.
- 16:31But really, really at the core of today's topic, I believe it
- 16:37is, you know, what is going on with us as people today, right?
- 16:42And for me, when I, the work that I've done on myself to, to,
- 16:46to be in front of you, that sense of belonging is important,
- 16:51right? And so we know that we all
- 16:54experience some little level of being bullied.
- 16:57We all experience some conversations if we tell the
- 16:59truth to our self that we all experience sometimes not being
- 17:04good enough. So there's something wrong with
- 17:05me. I'm on my own.
- 17:08We want to trust people, but however, I don't really trust
- 17:11myself. So, and really, when I, when I
- 17:13did the research biblically, bigly, I'm not supposed to trust
- 17:16in man anyway. I'm supposed to have confidence
- 17:18in you. I'm not supposed to put all that
- 17:19trust in you because it there's expectations or things that
- 17:22happened. I mean, we're flawed as people,
- 17:25but at some point, what drives a person, what drives a person to
- 17:29want to take another person's life or what level of anger or
- 17:33what level of disappointment or despair does one have to get
- 17:37that that has them want to take another person's life in any, in
- 17:41any circumstance, right? In any level, in any age
- 17:44bracket, right. So the little girl that we
- 17:47talked to on Monday, she's, we discovered for her to be kind of
- 17:52like the ringleader of the, of the, of the, the, the group.
- 17:56And when we asked her like, you know, what's going on, you know,
- 18:00things like that. And she says, well, I was
- 18:01bullied at the, I was bullied at the other school.
- 18:04And so now at this school, to protect herself, she's angry and
- 18:08and she comes across as with her anger, she leads with that upset
- 18:12and that frustration because she was bullied at another school.
- 18:15Now that's not saying it's right or wrong, but we're pointing to
- 18:17is her experience. And so we we talk about it, you
- 18:22know, we glaze over these conversations, but what is
- 18:25really at the root of a person's mindset that gets them to the
- 18:30point of where they want to do harm to another person?
- 18:34What is that? Because the commandments are
- 18:37those #1 and #2 is to love God and to love your neighbors as
- 18:41the same as you love yourself. So how much does one have to
- 18:44love themselves or not love themselves to take another
- 18:47person's life? And we see it all day long.
- 18:49But we have a guest today who's going to share some information
- 18:54and some of his background and, and what he's discovered and
- 18:58some of the things he's experienced around.
- 19:00I believe this top this topic because at the end of the day,
- 19:03and we're human beings, we want to belong, we want to be
- 19:05included. But there are things that
- 19:08happened to us that sometimes our minds make these corrupted
- 19:11decisions and then we start living from these upsets and
- 19:14these frustrations and, and that can cause another person to want
- 19:19to harm another person. And then you have mass
- 19:22shootings. We have things that happen at
- 19:23school. We have all these different
- 19:24things that the media, you know, displays for us.
- 19:28And then how do we take that? Do we tolerate those
- 19:31conversations because it hasn't hit, it hasn't hit my front door
- 19:34yet? Or do we really, you know,
- 19:36search and try to figure out how we can help these subjects?
- 19:41And for me, teaching that emotional intelligence, even at
- 19:44that level of 4th and 5th graders, you know, we pray every
- 19:46day that that they hear and apply something that they hear
- 19:50from us at those schools. So with no further ado, our
- 19:52special guest today is Mr. Bart Womack.
- 19:55Man, how you doing today? Doing well by yourself?
- 19:59I'm good, I'm good. Thank you for hanging out today
- 20:01with us. Yeah, I appreciate you having
- 20:03me. And me, I'm so enthralled with
- 20:05what you've been talking about so far and everything.
- 20:07I'm like, what am I going to go with this?
- 20:11I want to jump in on some of that other stuff.
- 20:13Yeah. Yeah, do me a favor, introduce
- 20:15yourself, and then we'll get started.
- 20:17How's that? Yeah.
- 20:18So I'm Bart Womack commenced our men retired and I say so I may
- 20:21watch her for over 29 1/2 years, honorably retired in 2006.
- 20:29Did did various things since retirement.
- 20:31But now I'm a public speaker and security consultant to provide
- 20:38proactive situation awareness strategies to mitigate insider
- 20:41threat and mass shooting attacks in academic institutions, the
- 20:45workplace, in places of worship. And I, like I said this, this
- 20:50has been going on for since I've been born.
- 20:52I mean, this, this is not brand new conversation.
- 20:56But before we get into that, why that that why you're here?
- 20:59What? What had you joined the service
- 21:01so long ago? Yeah, well, it was, it was, it
- 21:07wasn't intentional. You know, I was 17 when I
- 21:11graduated high school and I was always working like I had a
- 21:14paper route, you know, going way back, that long paper route for
- 21:18your audience, you had to put some down the shoulder.
- 21:20So you don't say what about it is it is a paper, a newspaper
- 21:25route? What is that thing?
- 21:28And I always, I always work, right?
- 21:29So I told myself because I was 17, I'm going to continue to
- 21:35work for a year. And then when I'm 18, you know,
- 21:38after a year that I would go to college, right?
- 21:40So I didn't make it to that year end up joining the military.
- 21:44And that happened by the fact that I was my next oldest
- 21:48brother had wrecked a car and I used to drive to work and then I
- 21:52had to start catching the bus. I was in between transfers bus
- 21:54and went to recruiter's office. And because it was cold, I went
- 21:58in there to get warm. And they had the whole spiel.
- 22:00You know, one thing led to another and then probably a
- 22:03total of four months later, you know there was in the military.
- 22:07Yeah, wow. Anybody before you proceed, it
- 22:12was in the. Oldest brother had served in the
- 22:15Navy, but so he's like 19 years older than me.
- 22:18So his time and doing it and me actually, I, I never saw him in
- 22:22uniform. So he was in and out and I
- 22:24didn't know anything. I mean, I knew that he had
- 22:25served, but he didn't really talk about anything.
- 22:28So it wasn't like, you know, military family by any means.
- 22:31I wasn't following anybody. I was I was super naive about
- 22:34the military got invasion tried and said, hey, we had have this
- 22:38airborne school or this airborne orientation and I said, what's
- 22:43everyone said jumping out airplanes.
- 22:45I'm undergoing to that. Then it said they paid 55.
- 22:48I was mother like where I going? Where do I sign?
- 22:53I'm chief $55. That was it.
- 22:56OK, I'm ready. Yeah, I I mean to make it to the
- 23:02rank of command * major. I mean, that's, that's the top
- 23:06of the chart looking back on, on each level of rank, if you can
- 23:13remember, how was that for you? I, I, I know for myself, the,
- 23:19the pride and me and my identity going from E4 to E5 from that
- 23:25next, that, that level of responsibility, I think for me
- 23:28is where I noticed when I, when I reflect back that I, I kind of
- 23:32lost myself in, in, in that rank, in that responsibility
- 23:37that I became like Sergeant, you know, Sergeant dossier, like I
- 23:40became Sergeant, staff Sergeant like, because I say that because
- 23:43in my transition out of the service, when that rank in that
- 23:46uniform was taken away from my medical retirement, I, I was
- 23:50all, I was didn't know who I was.
- 23:52So, you know, looking back from your level and looking back, do
- 23:56you notice like for you that the different changing 'cause you
- 23:59went through the whole, you went through the whole list?
- 24:02Yeah, yeah. I think we're always given some
- 24:06leadership challenge or opportunity long before we are
- 24:11actually in a leadership position and and it's around us.
- 24:15So we see it. So we get to make a decision for
- 24:19ourselves about how we're going to approach that, you know, when
- 24:22it's our turn, even if they're the smallest task, take four
- 24:25guys over there and do police call, like how you're going to
- 24:26do that, right? Especially when they're your
- 24:28peers. So you learn long before you put
- 24:29the rank on. So when I put the rank on it, it
- 24:32didn't feel any different. The pain, you knew that was
- 24:37coming, but did everything else feel any different?
- 24:40OK, leading people. But you had done it to a degree,
- 24:43you know, so you were comfortable doing it.
- 24:45You didn't have, you know, a lot of people as a Sergeant.
- 24:48So I, I felt pretty comfortable doing it.
- 24:51And then long and behold, shortly after that, you know, I,
- 24:55I put in to be a drill Sergeant. I, I was AI was a drill Sergeant
- 25:00as a Sergeant. So I'm not sure if you can do
- 25:02that now. And I.
- 25:04Was 23 years old. Oh wow.
- 25:07Yeah, I was a drill Sergeant for two years, about nine months I
- 25:11was a Sergeant. The rest of the time I was a
- 25:13staff Sergeant, but I started at 23 my my years as drill
- 25:17Sergeant, ages 23 to 25. So now, now, now that was
- 25:22different. You know, I remember that in
- 25:24terms of leadership, because you're taking people who just
- 25:26come off the street, don't know anything about the military and
- 25:28you have to teach them everything in this eight week
- 25:30period of time. So now it's now it's a little
- 25:33bit different and they haven't been LED or if they hadn't have
- 25:35been LED in this style. And then you have to develop
- 25:38your style as a drill Sard versus, you know, versus the
- 25:42sardine is completely different. Like it, it's, it's a, you know,
- 25:45what's the persona, you know, you're leading the country's men
- 25:49and women and you, you, you're, you're making them a soldiers
- 25:52going to go out there to a fighting force.
- 25:54And you learn very, very quickly that you, you just came from
- 25:58that side and you don't want, you don't want a unit getting
- 26:03someone who's unfit, untrained, not ready for the military,
- 26:07etcetera, etcetera, even though they're going to go into the IT
- 26:09and all that type of stuff afterwards.
- 26:10So there's another influence of leadership that's involved in
- 26:13when you get the permanent party, but still, if you allow
- 26:18them to go to AIT, you have to be responsible for that.
- 26:22So, so I remember, you know, later on at time first class
- 26:26when I was a tourist on and you're getting a new soldier and
- 26:28you're like, who's your drill sock?
- 26:29I'm going to go smack him in the face.
- 26:32Yeah. Especially, you know, imagery
- 26:35guy. Imagery guy, right.
- 26:36So they come out of ULSA, but they had the same drill, saw him
- 26:39for 13 weeks. Like I'm going to slap him in
- 26:41the face because he screwed up. But that's the, that's the,
- 26:47that's the, that's what you have to embrace as a drill saw.
- 26:51And they had to do that at a very young age.
- 26:54I, I didn't, I didn't think about the age.
- 26:56It was like, well, after my time where I was, I was that old.
- 27:02Yeah, pretty good. You know, so I'm not rating
- 27:06myself. I'm just saying I could look at
- 27:08some 23 year olds and say you there's some things you're ready
- 27:12for and some things you aren't ready for, you know what I mean?
- 27:14So yeah, so, so that was, that was that's probably when I knew
- 27:19I wasn't definitely in charge of people because it was completely
- 27:21different than what you had to where you got them and where you
- 27:24had to take them to. Right then left there, staff
- 27:26started, went to Korea. Now I'm on the now I'm on the
- 27:29building, the frontline of Korea where you were actually in and
- 27:33out of the JSA with the, with the, you know what enemy, you
- 27:36know, the Korean people's Army, right?
- 27:38So that that's different when you're squatting literally and
- 27:40denying people, you have a real mission that can pop off at any
- 27:43time, you know, and it didn't pop off.
- 27:45I won't get an act because it's it's it's a short, long story,
- 27:48but it it takes a path, but different level of leadership
- 27:52when you know you have to do certain things and there's a
- 27:55real enemy there and he hadn't done anything in a while.
- 27:57But while I was there, we actually got in a firefight with
- 28:00the KPAI can say a long story long time ago, but it's that
- 28:04level of preparedness that your squad has to be and you have to
- 28:08be as a leader, you know, So it's you know, it's eye opening
- 28:11and completely different, you know, sort of level and what's
- 28:16what's unique about that. And the same thing when you're
- 28:17when you're squad leader, you know, you've been the team
- 28:19leader, you've been to Joe, you know, all those duties and
- 28:22responsibilities. So now you can you can say that
- 28:25I won't actually do anything that I haven't done or not
- 28:28willing to do. But more importantly, I've
- 28:30already, you know, so can't you question, can't.
- 28:33You question? Not at that level, no.
- 28:36I can perform it right now if I need to show you, but I don't
- 28:39think I need to show you. I'm going to tell you you're
- 28:42going to do it, but I'm going to tell you that man.
- 28:44Will you believe that? Not only do I know what I'm
- 28:47talking about, but he actually did, you know.
- 28:49So then you have to relay at the squad.
- 28:52You know, they come in cognate they're filling their owns too,
- 28:55as as a new staff starting and stuff, right, I've been charging
- 28:58more people. Now you know what's not?
- 29:00You know what, I didn't charge of a team anymore in charge of a
- 29:01whole squad. There's more people
- 29:03responsibility and after a while, if they're really good,
- 29:06they're looking at your job and and I welcome that.
- 29:08You know, I'm I'm trying to transmitting me.
- 29:10So when I'm not here is going to be taken care of.
- 29:12So, but that's what happens each time you go up, you know, then
- 29:16your first arms, the same thing with those platoon Sorens.
- 29:19And they're little, they're, they're obviously they're
- 29:21smarter than a squad leader, but they know they have expectations
- 29:26of what the first arms should be.
- 29:28And likewise, they've done that job for a year and a half, 18
- 29:32months, couple years. They're eyeballing your job.
- 29:35They know they need the rank for it.
- 29:36And they're like, could you please like be sick for a day so
- 29:39I can just. Just be sick one day.
- 29:44Just one day. Give me one day.
- 29:47I was first on 'cause no one even says how long right it was
- 29:50like how long right I was. Yeah, it was actually 23 hours.
- 29:54The dude came back an hour, hour early or whatever, right.
- 29:58Anyway, but, but, but if it, it keeps you sharp because you
- 30:06know, you, you have to go out there and perform every day.
- 30:09Everybody's looking at you. Now, we always talk about the
- 30:11thing and you're talking about this with those, those students
- 30:14in terms of leadership. It's one thing to say, lead from
- 30:20the front, be the example and all that type of stuff.
- 30:22And it's another thing to say, do it as if, no, do the right
- 30:27thing when nobody's watching, but easier to say than it is to
- 30:32do. And that was, that was, it
- 30:35wasn't the hardest thing. I, I prided myself on actually
- 30:38doing that like 24/7 weekends. I might be seen I need to do the
- 30:46right thing soon as I'm not doing that at the first arm or
- 30:49point as a commands arm major like you, you, your credibility
- 30:53is gone #1 and you've created a new standard.
- 30:57But you have to live. Not everybody does even the same
- 31:01ranks they they everybody does not live it.
- 31:05You have to live it. I think that's the separation,
- 31:07not not that you're out there like I'm trying to be better or
- 31:09separate myself. You have to live it and that
- 31:12will show in your soldiers in in the entire post is going to see
- 31:18that dude lives that not overboard, not overboard.
- 31:23I'm just saying. Not overboard.
- 31:24Yeah, exactly. Not overboard, but.
- 31:27You're not going to catch me, but I can stay in front of, you
- 31:30know, those 4000 troops and say you ain't going to never catch
- 31:32me because I'm not doing it. I'm getting caught.
- 31:36You're never going to see me do it because I don't.
- 31:41It's that level of, of leadership that builds, you
- 31:45know, more credibility and really not that you now that
- 31:48you're trying to do this in the Army, but you know, it builds a
- 31:51brand of, of leader. No kidding.
- 31:57And and that's, and that's really, you know, what we want
- 32:00in, in our society, you know, and, and, and as you describe
- 32:03that, as you say that for me, I've learned to not just do
- 32:07that, but to be that and, and experience being that.
- 32:10And that's what people, because like you say, your character is,
- 32:13is inside of that. And if you get, if you get
- 32:15caught doing something, you know, that could mess it, that
- 32:18could fracture your character, that could fracture all of that
- 32:21stuff that you've built with that little place with those
- 32:23soldiers. So, yeah, no, thank you for
- 32:26that. That's very, very important.
- 32:27So one of the main reasons why you're here is, is to discuss
- 32:31some of these topics. And I, I know I want, I want to
- 32:38touch on the mental aspect of it, but I want, I want you to
- 32:40kind of open up the discussion and then I'll, I'll kind of
- 32:43follow along and, and, and ask my questions from there.
- 32:46But what do you want to start around this question, this
- 32:48conversation of? Yeah, I'll, I'll show this story
- 32:52of what people see in the background.
- 32:54You can see the embedded, pardon.
- 32:55You see a little bit of those letters, but it's embedded in
- 32:58here, which is the story of the March 23rd, 2003 insider threat
- 33:02attack against 101st Airborne Division by a fellow American
- 33:07soldier. So we we were poised, we were in
- 33:09Kuwait during across the border going to Iraq.
- 33:11You know, it's one O clock in the morning.
- 33:14A scenario grenade comes into my tent followed by a frag grenade.
- 33:18Chaos ensues the grenades throwing into the next tent.
- 33:21There's just a gunshot and then the grenades going throwing to
- 33:26the next tent. So at this point in another
- 33:28gunshot. So this .2 have been shot.
- 33:31Frag grenades have gone into three different tents where
- 33:33people are sleeping, the first being mine and that's all shot.
- 33:38The, the commander is hit by shrapnel and that first tent I,
- 33:44I managed somehow to get out of here about going through through
- 33:47all the details right in the second tent after hearing a
- 33:51gunshot and and frag grenade, they begin to stand up.
- 33:54So grenades thrown in there through them.
- 33:56Get it pretty good in there. Then that same thing happens in
- 33:59the third tent. So we're searching for
- 34:00insurgents, not been able to find them at all.
- 34:04And just just Fast forward, we have mass casualties going on
- 34:07and trying to get them medevac out of there.
- 34:10So complete and utter chaos. I realized something had to have
- 34:13changed in the camp. So what changed?
- 34:15The learning interpreters come in that night, so it has to be
- 34:17them. Go find them.
- 34:18We find them, interrogate and learn to have nothing to do with
- 34:21it. So now we're back on the
- 34:22insurgents that we've seen. No sign up.
- 34:26Then we do accountability check and learn the one person is
- 34:29missing. So are grenades, ammunition.
- 34:31That becomes our #1 suspect. And of course we find out that
- 34:35it was one of our own soldiers who committed the attack.
- 34:38He has one of the reasons for doing it that we later found out
- 34:42two years after that in the trial we had written anti
- 34:46American things. I'll read a couple to you.
- 34:51I do not like the military that had too much control over
- 34:53people's lives. I suppose I'm just anti
- 34:55government. I wrote that in 1990.
- 34:57Three. 1996 he wrote anyone who stands in front of me, she'll be
- 35:00considered the enemy and dealt with accordingly. 1996 he writes
- 35:04Destroying America was my plan as a child and as a juvenile and
- 35:07in college on life will not be completed as America is
- 35:10destroyed. Destroying America is my
- 35:12greatest goal. 1998 he joins the military.
- 35:15So this was planned, you know, so we're thinking like we're
- 35:20thinking after he's captured like what what did he put out
- 35:23there? What was the sign that that we
- 35:25that we missed? Well, we didn't miss a sign
- 35:27because man, this all along long before he even joined the
- 35:31military. So once in the military again,
- 35:34this happened March 23rd 2003 in February, he wrote in his diary,
- 35:39I'm not going to do anything as long as I stay here at Fort
- 35:41Campbell. But as soon as I'm in Iraq, I'm
- 35:43going to try to kill as many of them as possible.
- 35:46He ends up killing two and wounded thirteen others.
- 35:50So we start getting thinking about the mindset of a person
- 35:52who does this. Now, why do you why, why are you
- 35:56anti government? Why are you anti military?
- 35:59Why do you hate America and, and you're American more important,
- 36:02why do you join the military? You know, so religion doesn't
- 36:06pull the trigger, but you know, it was his religious beliefs.
- 36:10He even went on to say that you guys are coming into our country
- 36:13and you're going to kill our women and rape our children.
- 36:17That's what we said after after we caught them and I had to
- 36:21digest what is OUR our mean. Like I said, it was all put
- 36:26together later at the trial when we learned that he had those
- 36:29things in his diary. So, so my take away from that
- 36:31was that, you know, no profession, level of education,
- 36:34ideology or religion is above reproach.
- 36:36There is no profile inside a threat as closer than you think.
- 36:40You know, we would have thought that someone who wore the same
- 36:42uniform, took the same oath, etcetera, etcetera would be the
- 36:45least capable and having a mindset of doing something like
- 36:49this to his own fellow soldiers. But obviously not, you know, so
- 36:54I said take away for the world is that if it happened inside a
- 36:57close knit brotherhood of the armed forces that could have in
- 37:00any campus community or organization at any time and
- 37:03anywhere. Domestic terrorism is our new
- 37:05reality. You know, someone at the wide
- 37:08loss and bodies manually. You start thinking, what do I do
- 37:11with this? Like, what am I supposed to do
- 37:12with this? You know, God, God save me for a
- 37:15reason when other two other people that were in my team was
- 37:18three that they were they were wounded and others wanted, like
- 37:21I said, two people killed, you know, but but why me?
- 37:24You get that survivor's remorse. So I I knew that of course,
- 37:27something and so I wrote the book embedded enemy, the insider
- 37:31threat. And after you have the story of
- 37:36the book, I put in there the situation aware of the
- 37:39strategies to try to to enlighten people to have some
- 37:44tools they can use to mitigate an insider threat.
- 37:47And long behold, you know, mass shooter attack long before they
- 37:50were happened as frequently as as frequently as as they are
- 37:53now. So.
- 37:56Those strategies are trust no one.
- 37:59I heard you align what the Bible says about trust.
- 38:03I was like, wow, so poignant, so, so timely, right?
- 38:06And and and I didn't know that. So I appreciate you sharing
- 38:09that, you know, but but our strategy is trust no one.
- 38:13And you know, I'll see. I'm going to say that after
- 38:16coming out of an attack like that, if it happened in that
- 38:19manner, someone's supposed to supposed to have your back,
- 38:22shooting you in your back, like one person who killed a shot
- 38:25point black in the back, you know, so trust no one.
- 38:28And when I say that I want people to think about how they
- 38:30trust. I know that they're going to
- 38:31trust somebody. I like what you said, what the
- 38:34Bible says, I'm going to look that one up.
- 38:37But if I say trust no one, people are going to think, well,
- 38:39I have to trust somebody. And some people's the way they
- 38:42approach that is I'll trust until they give me a reason not
- 38:46to. I think wrong.
- 38:48So I say no one, they're going to think a little bit harder
- 38:52about how they trust. And that's what I want them to
- 38:54do. Start thinking about how you do
- 38:56it. Next one is observed listening
- 38:58report like we might see something, but but are we doing
- 39:02anything about it? And it's more than see something
- 39:04and say something in my opinion. Like you, you saw it happen.
- 39:09You might hear it or you might just see it, but then you need
- 39:12to report. I was an apartment building
- 39:15manager in in LA and you let me know how we're doing on time.
- 39:19And I just took over and realized this one light was was
- 39:24out when I came out this door, you know, and it was like
- 39:26January, you know, So 5:00 PM starts getting dark, right?
- 39:30And I realized the light wasn't on.
- 39:31So I go back in the building and I get a pen and a piece of
- 39:34paper. And I come back out again and
- 39:36I'm checking all the exterior lights so I can get them
- 39:39replaced. And I say to myself, if
- 39:41someone's watching me right now, they should think this is
- 39:43suspicious behavior. This case.
- 39:45I'm casing the building now, this apartment building in LA on
- 39:50Gately, right across, I mean, directly across the street from
- 39:53UCLA. Anybody have been UCLA?
- 39:58Most people around here don't look like me unless they play
- 40:01football. So you got that going on.
- 40:05And so I said, everyone looking at me and said thank, this is
- 40:08special behavior. So I go back in, come out
- 40:11another door, do some more checks to go back in the house
- 40:13and start checking into your lights, right?
- 40:15So I get to the fifth floor here.
- 40:17Freeze. Well, you know, I've been around
- 40:19long enough to know what that means.
- 40:21You know, someone's pointing a gun at you and they're behind me
- 40:23and I hear the voice. It sounds much younger than
- 40:24mine's like, OK, I'm compliant. I want them to be my experience.
- 40:28I want, you know, tricky finger, you know, and say put your hands
- 40:31up a dude, drop the pen in the paper.
- 40:33It has me on my back. I get handcuffed.
- 40:35Then they say, well, you think the one that was called in, I'm
- 40:38like, no, I am the description because remember, I just told
- 40:40myself, no, it is me. All all you did is going to
- 40:44happen if someone was paying attention and long and behold
- 40:47they were. So I applauded the person who
- 40:49was paying attention because it's right up the alley of
- 40:51observe, listen to report. There was nothing to hear but
- 40:54they observed. Was it to be suspicious behavior
- 40:56and then they reported it. Now I'm not sure who escalated
- 41:00to the level to have 5 police officers show up armed for the
- 41:05first who was called in to have a pen and a piece of paper.
- 41:10I don't know if that was dispatched or they had nothing
- 41:13else to do so everyone joined in on the call.
- 41:15Not sure I'm going to, so I'm coming.
- 41:17I don't know what that was. Anyway, in my opinion, the right
- 41:21thing was done. And, and so, so when I'm talking
- 41:24to the audiences, you know what I'm speaking.
- 41:27I, I, I like to share that one because the worst that happened
- 41:32was they got the guy, but nothing was wrong.
- 41:34No, again, way too many police officers showed up.
- 41:40You know, next one is know your neighbor alluded that and and
- 41:43you're in the beginning as well. And what I mean by that, I mean
- 41:46just the person next door, but I mean like your fellow student,
- 41:49your fellow, your your fellow Co worker know begin to know people
- 41:53the more you know about them and you have to get all in their
- 41:56business. But they will begin to talk.
- 41:58And once they begin to talk, they're going to tell you stuff.
- 42:01They're going to tell you something to happen at home.
- 42:02They're going to tell you on the way to work.
- 42:04So and so cut them off. That was the second time.
- 42:06It's the same guy on the same route.
- 42:08Now I got the license plate. I know somebody that's Pi.
- 42:11I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm, you know, if you are paying.
- 42:15You are listening to if you. Know them, they'll tell you
- 42:17right and it goes, it goes on. You know the more but just take
- 42:21some time to know them. Then the next one is listen,
- 42:24don't just hear. I used to work at a military
- 42:26college and these students were in the classroom, sophomores, 19
- 42:30year olds, criminal justice class to get on the subject of
- 42:33guns and see what I'm saying. I have a gun and I have a gun.
- 42:37This one guy says why have an AK47 and they kind of laugh and
- 42:41it's in the trunk of my car. Now the professor was in the
- 42:43classroom and he the professor knows that guns aren't allowed
- 42:47on campus. All right, but professor doesn't
- 42:50do anything, but a fellow 19 year old student was listening
- 42:57to the point where it sounded a matter of fact.
- 43:01You have to listen to where something sounds a matter of
- 43:07fact. Oh, why?
- 43:07You just hear, you know, someone told you say hey, you're trash
- 43:12and you don't do it right away. And they tell you three times
- 43:14like I know you hear me. Yeah, I hear you, but I'm not
- 43:17desperate to you right now. You know what I mean?
- 43:19So. So it's a big deal.
- 43:22It tells me that this is what happened in class.
- 43:25Someone said, yeah, AK47 instead of trunk of his car.
- 43:28It sounded a matter of fact. I don't know what you're going
- 43:30to do with it, but I, I just got to tell you, right.
- 43:33So almost along the lines of, of listening, your reporter, right?
- 43:37But more importantly, it was the listening of just hearing
- 43:39because there's other people in the classroom who did nothing to
- 43:41include the adult professor. So he walked him to his car, get
- 43:46about 100 yards from his car. So I just want you to know if
- 43:48you get to my car and the AK47 in the trunk of my car, no, no
- 43:53ill will was playing with that. He was supposed to link up with
- 43:56a buddy and take it over to his friend's house, to his friend's
- 44:00dad's house, who lived in a rural area.
- 44:01And dad was going to lock it up and they would come out there on
- 44:04the weekends and shoot it, but they missed the link up to
- 44:06death. So but his mistake was like I
- 44:09said, no, your neighbors and mistake was running his mouth to
- 44:14the point of all day, of all days of class in criminal
- 44:20justice class, the day they're talking about guns.
- 44:22Guess what you do, you do nothing.
- 44:26You don't talk, you know what I mean?
- 44:28But they will tell you if you are a situationally aware,
- 44:32right? And the last one is gut check.
- 44:34Like your gut is your strongest sense.
- 44:37It will, it will tell you a lot of things.
- 44:39So when these things happen, these shootings, right, no
- 44:42matter where they are, we'll hear they will.
- 44:44I always thought, I always thought, well, your gut hate
- 44:49that, you know, but you didn't do anything with it.
- 44:51Now we have dead people and wounded people.
- 44:54He even attacked 3 weeks ago, almost 3 weeks ago I think at at
- 44:57Florida State University. He was 2020 years old, the son,
- 45:04stepson of of a deputy sheriff. That's the guy he used to commit
- 45:10the attack. But he was in this, he was in
- 45:12this political group on campus there.
- 45:16I don't know what they meant this political group and the
- 45:20only rule they had was you couldn't be Nazi.
- 45:25That was it. And dude, begin to express
- 45:30extremism towards, you know, super, super, super far right.
- 45:36You know, politics doesn't pull the trigger here.
- 45:38I'm just telling you that the guy was in the group, right?
- 45:42And and also white Supremes. He got extreme with both to the
- 45:52point where the president running the group kicked him
- 45:54out. You know, you violated the rule.
- 45:57It was obnoxious, but he was so extreme with it that they kicked
- 46:01him out. So extreme, yeah.
- 46:03Yeah, but when, when did we hear about that?
- 46:05After he killed 7 people, eight people.
- 46:10That's when it injured others to me that that was the sign.
- 46:14You have to pay for what they're giving you.
- 46:17I'm paying. You're already in a group.
- 46:19So it's already borderline something.
- 46:21And I think that, you know, people have a belief and we we
- 46:26are encouraging people younger and younger to believe in
- 46:29something like believer, whatever or fall for nothing
- 46:32type of thing, whatever the saying is.
- 46:33But we encourage them to believe in something.
- 46:36So we shouldn't be surprised as parents.
- 46:38Great. And when they go out and now
- 46:39they're believing in the same way.
- 46:40I didn't mean that you're not the wrong.
- 46:42I meant this not that when someone got to them radicalized,
- 46:48radicalized is OK, you know, But then when you are so against
- 46:54someone else who's not for what you were for, and then you
- 46:57become extreme about it. And after extreme, it just go
- 47:00just a matter of time. And that, and that's what
- 47:03happened to him now, he didn't even kill people.
- 47:05That was against what he was against.
- 47:07Two of the people that he killed was a, a, a guy there for the
- 47:12day to he, he provided all the food and stuff in the cafeteria.
- 47:17He ran that contract and he was walking around outside with the
- 47:21like the cafeteria manager. He didn't know if they how they
- 47:24were aligned or anything like that.
- 47:27But when you become extreme, it's just a matter of time.
- 47:32And when you become extreme, you don't just sit at home and
- 47:35become extreme. It'll happen like that.
- 47:38You've got to do something, to tell somebody something.
- 47:40So that's why we had to be situation aware, you know.
- 47:43So when I came up with these strategies, when the book came
- 47:45out in 2013, it's still new because you just got to find out
- 47:49about it, right? I didn't even, I began to find
- 47:53them at the time. They would be relevant for quite
- 47:55some time because while I was writing the book, I began to
- 48:00watch what I perceive to be inside a threat attacks.
- 48:04So I'm not talking about every shooting going on is one.
- 48:07I'm saying if it follows the model and it follows that these
- 48:11strategies can help them mitigate it, then in the lines
- 48:14with it, then I'll talk about and I'll use it as an example.
- 48:17So I had hope that it would, that the strategies would, would
- 48:26last for a while and, and, and be able to work in these
- 48:30situations. I, I couldn't fathom at the
- 48:33level of attacks that that have happened since that time.
- 48:38I, I, I did not see that. Yeah.
- 48:42But to this day, no one's the wiser in in an academic
- 48:46institution or the workplace about these attacks because they
- 48:49they don't even know that's just about these straight.
- 48:52They don't know about anything because no one talks about that.
- 48:54That that's why they're proactive.
- 48:56Yeah, exactly. Run high and fight once the
- 48:59bullets start. But you need that too.
- 49:01But when I'm talking about, we'll stop it before it happens.
- 49:04Let's stop the shooting. What leads what?
- 49:06Leads up to that, Yeah. What's with the patterns that
- 49:09leads up to that, right? And.
- 49:11You think about the risk of that little group, right?
- 49:14And this guy, this guy is this. The disposition was so bad they
- 49:19kicked him out, but he didn't go tell anybody on campus like we
- 49:24have this ticking time bomb that feels this way.
- 49:28Watch out if you are getting you didn't tell anybody, right?
- 49:32So that's why I, I, I watched the attack and I wait two or
- 49:35three days as they do their investigation because that same
- 49:39type thing comes out all the time after the fact.
- 49:43After the fact. After the fact.
- 49:45The fact after the fact, yeah. It's, it's, it's, it's, you
- 49:50know, we say we, we, we communicate well, but
- 49:56communication is all also listening.
- 50:00And we say that we're good listeners, but a lot of times we
- 50:03listen to react or to respond. And like you say, you miss those
- 50:08key descriptions, those keywords that people say that are on a,
- 50:15on a, on a level of extreme versus just a casual
- 50:18conversation. Like we, we, we overlook those
- 50:21even with our, you know, with our children, you know, with,
- 50:24with our, with our loved ones, Like we don't, we hear them.
- 50:29But like you said, I, I believe it is there's, there's a level
- 50:34of still a level of confidence, a level of self-confidence that
- 50:38has to be had for me to say, hey, you know what man, I heard
- 50:41you say that. What's going on with you like
- 50:42that? That's a different kind of
- 50:44person than to be like I heard it and then let it go.
- 50:48That's a level of I'd like to tell students that it is cool to
- 50:52be correct. I I need you to step in some
- 50:55things that are said beg a question.
- 50:58Some things that are done in front of you beg a question.
- 51:01UNL be a student in in ANBA class comes in in all black
- 51:06fatigues in military boots and all that in the NBA.
- 51:11That's fine if the subject was that, right?
- 51:15But teacher, that professor doesn't say nothing.
- 51:18Fellow students don't say a word.
- 51:20Now nothing happened. But in your eyes, in this class,
- 51:25when a person wears this and hadn't worn that before, it begs
- 51:28the question, I don't care if you make a joke about the
- 51:31question, but this is the education that that that
- 51:33students and people need. They're not they don't they
- 51:36can't think fast enough to be sad enough to say you can make a
- 51:38joke. Like, OK, do you have an
- 51:40audition as a military guy? Did you just join special forces
- 51:44or you dealt it or you me, you can make a joke about it, but it
- 51:47begs the question, let's hear what's coming out of their mouth
- 51:50because we don't know if they're going to go to wherever we go
- 51:52right back with the gun. It, you know, they they're
- 51:54making an assessment then having this class next week.
- 51:57I was coming soon, you know, I gave a warning.
- 52:01Doesn't this look odd? Does it happen?
- 52:03You an NBA? But no one said anything.
- 52:06Nothing happened. My point is, some behavior and
- 52:09some things beg a question. They put it right out there in
- 52:12front of you. But that type of thing happens
- 52:14all the time. Yeah, it's, it's, it's the
- 52:18ability to really, you know, we and we talk about, we, we talk
- 52:23about pay attention to your surroundings.
- 52:24Like I, I tell my daughters, always pay attention to your
- 52:28surroundings, like look and see what looks out of place, what
- 52:31doesn't fit the environment, you know?
- 52:33And so we, we say that. But then again, like you said
- 52:37it, it has to be some like some level of skill set to that.
- 52:43We have to be able to introduce, you know, scenarios or whatever
- 52:49that is. Like, hey, look, you got to be
- 52:51able to pay attention. You got to have the confidence.
- 52:53Yeah, it's, it's not that you're snitching or you're telling on
- 52:55somebody, but it's, it's, it's a level of safety, right?
- 53:00You know, it's a level of safety.
- 53:02I was, I was traveling one time and I had my golf bag and it's
- 53:05kind of a kind of hard plastic container, you know, so it's a
- 53:09golf. So it's, you know, it's, it's
- 53:10pretty round and tall, right? And I get into a Uber, you know,
- 53:14Uber driver says, is that a gun case?
- 53:18Like, OK, we obviously never seen a golf bag.
- 53:21But again, I appreciated him asking because it begged a
- 53:25question. OK, I'm a driver.
- 53:27I need to know if there's guns going going to be in my car,
- 53:29even though this thing going in the trunk.
- 53:30But it begged a question. Wow.
- 53:34Yeah, I can tell them all that I applaud as it's a golf bag or
- 53:37whatever. I didn't I didn't even applaud
- 53:38them for looking at this and and you know, saying a whole begging
- 53:42question thing. But my point is, he was
- 53:44situationally aware enough to know that.
- 53:48What is that? Yeah, having seen.
- 53:51I don't want to get it. Yeah.
- 53:54So if you got to get guns in there, you might have small
- 53:56guns, too. You weren't driving?
- 53:58Yes, Nobody. You got a gun in that backpack?
- 54:00Right, right. I ain't.
- 54:02Trying to get that. My point is, you know, he saw
- 54:05something and asked something. Yeah, let me take this
- 54:10commercial break. This is the Frondosier Show,
- 54:14military broadcast radio trench talk edition.
- 54:17Bart Womack is here. I hope you've learned some some
- 54:20information here. This is some stuff that is very
- 54:22important. I'm going to bring up Big Dre
- 54:24after the conversation after this PSA break here and let him
- 54:28ask him, 'cause he's made, he made a comment over here.
- 54:33He's been a security assessment on threat.
- 54:35Yeah. So he, he definitely has some
- 54:36some feedback for you in this dialogue here.
- 54:39This is the Frondosie show. We're going to come right back.

- 57:11All right, welcome back to another episode of the Farron
- 57:13Dosier Show, Trends Talk Edition.
- 57:16Wow. Again, I hope you had an
- 57:19opportunity to just kind of listen to these conversations
- 57:21because it is very important for us to, we say, pay attention, we
- 57:26say these things, but do we really implement these right?
- 57:31And, and, and, you know, for me to, to be able to relate to
- 57:34this, maybe not maybe because I was a, a soldier myself 24 years
- 57:39and I still have some of that listening ability.
- 57:43But then how do we teach this? Like, how do we help other
- 57:46people not just talk about it, but talk from it and pay
- 57:51attention. I think that is very important
- 57:53for people to pay attention. Let me bring in Big Drake.
- 57:56Big Drake, man. What's happening, man?
- 57:57Hey, you know man, once again, salute man, salute man.
- 58:04I was sitting back watching, meditating, thinking about what
- 58:08Mr. Womack was saying and he kept in that background 31 years
- 58:13security expert. So I know running for City
- 58:16Council and that's one of my main measurements is to get
- 58:20these incentives in the schools about that assessment of
- 58:24schools. And I called the shadow master,
- 58:25what I called it, what he was saying when the kids come and
- 58:28wearing, you know, all black clothes in school and asking
- 58:30that simple question. How I would look at it is pay
- 58:33more attention to your surroundings as a student
- 58:35individual. Like he was saying, I always say
- 58:38a little Bobby in the corner and you got people bullying him.
- 58:41You know what he's going through.
- 58:43And you know, all of a sudden the parents start changing every
- 58:44day. Every day now.
- 58:45I love Bobby, got black hair and nails.
- 58:47And. Right.
- 58:49And he used to be a, he used to be blind.
- 58:51And I. Didn't he looked?
- 58:52Before in the class and what is Bobby He absent?
- 58:54No Bobby sitting right next to you.
- 58:55He didn't change your parents. You don't pay attention.
- 58:57So then Bobby goes home and gets on on YouTube.
- 59:00Oh how do you how do you say more good.
- 59:03He told his father to go to the house now Bobby coming school.
- 59:05Most schools will stop going through the bags checking bags
- 59:08check most of them stop now and let their guard down Some of
- 59:11this America we we got it. You don't have it and then the
- 59:14kids decided I'm pissed off. I go at school that there has
- 59:17mass shooting, you know, so it's it's sad that we're not teaching
- 59:22that. So I taught that with my female
- 59:24bodyguards. Archangels taught them the best
- 59:27when Kevin trained them. Our serratic areas.
- 59:29My girls will tell you they are not.
- 59:30They don't go nowhere now without that.
- 59:32They don't park next to vans and none of that stuff.
- 59:35They park the lidded area. So you used well, Mr. Woolman
- 59:38was talking. I have I have my body of shield
- 59:40armor going on. I'm like, man.
- 59:43Let me bring him to the stage. Let me bring him on.
- 59:46This. Is real man salute you Sir?
- 59:49All right, take the. Good service.
- 59:51Yeah. Well, expert, expert.
- 59:53I mean, I, I'm an expert in it. My uncle was a CIA Army Ranger.
- 59:58He he was, and he came from experience of training with,
- 1:00:02with him. I used to go in the and mom
- 1:00:03bought it and he had a cabinet trained up in the snow with him
- 1:00:06to shoot snipers, shoot with him, all that stuff.
- 1:00:08We, we learn hand to hand, you know, the survival stuff.
- 1:00:12And I came back, started teaching it.
- 1:00:13And I ended up putting A-Team together and we had a team for
- 1:00:16all these years. And I got in the game for 31
- 1:00:18years. I worked with the biggest names
- 1:00:20in the industry. I work with royalty from
- 1:00:22Princess Diana to James Brown. I've assisted a lot of people in
- 1:00:26different accolades. Then it comes to schools.
- 1:00:29The school shootings. I had a measurement.
- 1:00:31I went to the the schools to try to put the measurement in the
- 1:00:33school. They laughed at me.
- 1:00:35They said, oh, yeah, we, we don't need that.
- 1:00:36No schools. Oh, you need it in the schools
- 1:00:38because that's what the kids are.
- 1:00:39Are are are mainly white people dealing with Bulldadism in
- 1:00:43schools. You need it there.
- 1:00:44And for some reason, Mr. Alberto, I call them big nose,
- 1:00:48what I call them because big nose don't don't he don't he
- 1:00:51don't put that big nose in no business and make make these
- 1:00:53schools a better place in LA. They, they, they give them kids
- 1:00:57that are burning these people's their hair out.
- 1:00:59The LA students pushing kids on the 2nd floor, burning kids with
- 1:01:03with with fire things. That's a threat.
- 1:01:05That's consider a actual assessment.
- 1:01:08And that's what I did. No one listen, I don't know how
- 1:01:11we're going to change that. I mean you got any solutions how
- 1:01:13you would change that? Yeah, I, I think they need to
- 1:01:17hear that the approach is proactive and, and, and not
- 1:01:21reactive. And I was going to say this
- 1:01:24earlier that, you know, as parents, really, there's this
- 1:01:30thing called a proximity illusion.
- 1:01:32And the closer you are to it, the more you believe it ain't
- 1:01:36going to happen. It ain't going to be our
- 1:01:37children until it's our children.
- 1:01:40I feel sorry for parents all the time, except for the ones who
- 1:01:43are buying their their kid a gun.
- 1:01:45I don't feel sorry for them because I don't know what the
- 1:01:47hell you expected, but but for the ones who you know and they
- 1:01:52don't see the signs, they don't listen, they don't observe.
- 1:01:57They just it's just their kid doing what their kid does.
- 1:02:00So even the thing like like you said earlier, it's telling you
- 1:02:04that, but do you say that? Well, parents, the closer you
- 1:02:09are to it, you don't hear it in the same way.
- 1:02:12So you think they care to Florida State, you telling me
- 1:02:16that you you have that level of extremism?
- 1:02:20I'm not saying it was taught in the home, but you trying to tell
- 1:02:22me one that ever came up in that house right now?
- 1:02:26It came up. He might not have, he might not
- 1:02:28have took the conversation to the extreme, but it definitely
- 1:02:31it wasn't a situation where it wasn't mentioned at all at all.
- 1:02:35Yeah, at all. Right.
- 1:02:37But it's those things, that proximity illusion, the closer
- 1:02:39you are to it, the more you believe in it going to happen.
- 1:02:41And that's what's happening in the schools.
- 1:02:42They think, well, you know, we had nothing like we had some
- 1:02:44fights and stuff like that and this stuff doing some stuff, but
- 1:02:48it ain't going to be like that. And so they, they try to wish it
- 1:02:51away. There was a school shoot in,
- 1:02:56they were Santa Fe, TX in 20/18/19.
- 1:02:59And I'll tell you about the attacker in a minute.
- 1:03:02But I went to hug this little girl because she said this.
- 1:03:07I always knew it was going to happen here.
- 1:03:10Now where did she get that from? Like.
- 1:03:14Our. Standpoint.
- 1:03:16But. Say that.
- 1:03:17But guess who was saying it? The administration, the
- 1:03:20administrators wasn't saying it. Bingo.
- 1:03:23But the students are saying it. So they're like begging for for
- 1:03:27something, you know, so the dollars has to be put into to
- 1:03:32the training, you know, so when I go speak, I mean, it didn't
- 1:03:34cost that much to bring me in and, and facilitate a class to
- 1:03:37do a training and, you know, all that stuff and whatever to save
- 1:03:41lives versus some other stuff that they're spending money on,
- 1:03:46you know, so it, it, it does, it does cost you some money.
- 1:03:50But you know, I get AI get a college and I say, what do you
- 1:03:53charge? I say, what's the, what's the
- 1:03:54student's life worth? OK.
- 1:03:56What's your life worth? Obviously, silence happens,
- 1:03:59right? Budget, let's negotiate.
- 1:04:05But you know. How Bentley you're driving as a
- 1:04:08principal? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:09One student's life. I know that my talks are going
- 1:04:12to say what? We'll save all of this in the
- 1:04:14audience, but how much? One student might work.
- 1:04:17Yeah. OK.
- 1:04:17But then you you can afford me if you care about that.
- 1:04:20So, I mean, I understand your job as administrator, but you
- 1:04:22have students. You have nothing, you know, so
- 1:04:26but that's high school when you're talking about the kid
- 1:04:29changing their nails and all that.
- 1:04:30He he wore the school he had wore it at a time a certain he
- 1:04:35said born to kill. I mean, you know what I mean
- 1:04:41something right. And then he frequently wore.
- 1:04:45In Santa Fe, TX, he frequently wore, like almost daily, a
- 1:04:50trench coat. Yep, when it's 8595°.
- 1:04:54Darn straight. Yeah, most of the time, right.
- 1:04:57And and now now 85, nine degrees like OK, it rained full time
- 1:05:02during school year. Maybe 5, maybe 5.
- 1:05:06Yeah. Wow.
- 1:05:07I'm content for the host. Yeah.
- 1:05:10Wearing it on days, those 10 days plus those other days.
- 1:05:14It begged a question. I want to hear what would come
- 1:05:18up, what would have come out of his mouth to me.
- 1:05:20If I see that and it's 85°, whether it ain't raining or
- 1:05:24whatever. And I said two days in a row.
- 1:05:26I mean, as an administrator, and I don't care how old they are,
- 1:05:30they need to know some history. What?
- 1:05:32But what does that mean, Miss Adams?
- 1:05:34You I mean with the church coating school just.
- 1:05:36About well well, see what what? Does.
- 1:05:39It mean what what what associated to me is that your
- 1:05:42whole mindset and your whole body mean that you're shameful.
- 1:05:45You're shame of something happened to you.
- 1:05:47When you cover the body up when it when it's when I'm learning
- 1:05:49martial arts, when you cover it, it shows that your abundantly of
- 1:05:53your your your confidence is not good.
- 1:05:55When you cross your hands mean you don't really care.
- 1:05:58When I teach people, when I was learning my Tai chi back in the
- 1:06:00in the keto, my sensei had always tell me when you do this
- 1:06:05right here and you greet your your, your, your opponent, you
- 1:06:07never take your eyes to your opponent.
- 1:06:08They always bow More people come down and do this right here and
- 1:06:12you so you bow. It's like a deer.
- 1:06:15People say, why did the horses have this right here?
- 1:06:17They have to concentrate and they're running so they can't
- 1:06:19see what's next to them. It's about the horses.
- 1:06:22So when you put them triscoat on, you're you're blinding
- 1:06:24everybody to the point that I'm selfish.
- 1:06:27I'm tired of it. I'm a cover up and no one can
- 1:06:29see me. It's in their mindset that no
- 1:06:31one's going to see me pull this 12 gauge shotgun out.
- 1:06:35And the kids are coming to school doing it.
- 1:06:36The Columbine prime example, Those doors just walked around
- 1:06:39for weeks. That's how I want it.
- 1:06:41That's that's what I saw because I think this is a copycat world.
- 1:06:45People are seeing it and they are doing it.
- 1:06:46How can I pull it off? Even even attack that embedded
- 1:06:49aim attack that that I survived, you know, six years later, a
- 1:06:53major in the Army did it at Fort Hood, TX.
- 1:06:55Yeah, I mean with. That then some years after that
- 1:06:58a kid in 2021, this kid joined the military to.
- 1:07:02Learn to just learn to trade. He was.
- 1:07:03He was. Working with ISIS and giving
- 1:07:08them military plans to attack our troops when they were
- 1:07:12deployed, giving our fighting taxes to do that.
- 1:07:15And he wanted to deploy so he could help them kill fellow
- 1:07:19soldiers. It it is a copycat world.
- 1:07:21So they saw this guy do it in 2003 and like, well, I can do it
- 1:07:25too because they didn't change. But when I was writing the book,
- 1:07:28I said if they don't change nothing, keep doing what you're
- 1:07:31doing. Keep doing.
- 1:07:32What I want to try as well for the City Council, I want to make
- 1:07:35it put a city manager in LA and let the voters know you can vote
- 1:07:40on it or get some private funds to teach the school that the
- 1:07:43principal teaches teachers proper way of training, certain
- 1:07:46drills. We you can vote, the voters can
- 1:07:49vote that measurement to put money inside.
- 1:07:51If it's if it's a dollar inside gasoline tax for school safety
- 1:07:54that we need to do the next election and stop playing games.
- 1:07:57You want to put another another $0.25 on gas tax?
- 1:08:00How about 2510 on some security tax, you know, for secure our
- 1:08:04schools. So that's why I look at it.
- 1:08:05That's why I want to. I'm going to put managements I
- 1:08:07want to have. I start running the City Council
- 1:08:09that's meant for my main job is to secure.
- 1:08:14We'll call you * Major. It's Mr. Womack that the, the,
- 1:08:19the conversation we're having is like you said, that this like
- 1:08:22the end result. It's like the after the fact,
- 1:08:24right? And you want to implement these
- 1:08:25conversation beforehand. And again, as, as I open up the
- 1:08:30conversation, the, the heart of people, the heart of the man,
- 1:08:37the identity crisis, like we just why, why do parents not
- 1:08:42think that children don't deal with these identity crisis?
- 1:08:47I mean, to me, that's what I'm looking at.
- 1:08:49At this end of the day, human beings, we want to belong.
- 1:08:53And if we don't have some type of identity, even if it's sports
- 1:08:56or whatever, I'm susceptible to political parties to find that
- 1:09:02connectedness. And especially if I don't feel
- 1:09:04like I'm connected to my family. Like there's a lot of stuff that
- 1:09:07leads up to even this part of the conversation that to me,
- 1:09:12it's just still missed. It's still not there.
- 1:09:15Yeah, I mean, you know, parenting is, is a tough job.
- 1:09:17You know, it's more than just having the kids.
- 1:09:19It's especially, I mean, the parents have to keep up to date
- 1:09:22with what's happening in society, what could be happening
- 1:09:25at school. I mean, watching the news and
- 1:09:26see what's happening. Something that's happened in
- 1:09:28Iowa can happen in in California, you know, just just
- 1:09:32a matter of time. And, and, and with this thing
- 1:09:34right here, your 13 year old student is finding out about it
- 1:09:37for you to come home from work because they're already seeing
- 1:09:39the thing to happen in Iowa And they, they decide whether
- 1:09:42they're going to follow it, take toward it, share with somebody
- 1:09:46else. You can see that.
- 1:09:47And they, they are much smarter now and where they can outsmart
- 1:09:50the parent and parent and parents don't have their
- 1:09:53household in in some form of order.
- 1:09:59And that, that's what makes it hard.
- 1:10:00In addition to, like I said, that whole proximity illusion
- 1:10:03that the closer you are to it, the more you don't think it is
- 1:10:05going to happen just right there in front of you.
- 1:10:07But I mean, I couldn't fathom that you hear that too.
- 1:10:11The the the parent who thought they knew in the end, once
- 1:10:14they're interviewed, I never would have thought that's the
- 1:10:18proximity. Of moving well I'm in the
- 1:10:21process now with my team developing the Actors Student
- 1:10:25school app that's going to be implemented when when we a kids
- 1:10:29alert can see some of the people who can see that going to happen
- 1:10:32can alert there's a possible school threat in the school
- 1:10:36alert not the kids be just pulling just be pushing it.
- 1:10:39You'll go straight to operators and look we have a possible kid
- 1:10:43is pretty hostile. We walk around there acting kind
- 1:10:45of weird and you and you alert the the the principal's office.
- 1:10:48They let the whole world go on, school go on, panic reach the
- 1:10:50school or no, because school police are just a waste of time.
- 1:10:54Why, they even got uniforms on. I see them at a donut shop
- 1:10:57during the school hours. Don't you put me on the school
- 1:11:00property the whole time while school's in.
- 1:11:01I've been seeing them everywhere in LA, boy, don't you?
- 1:11:04And then that LAP took over them, so they had to be on
- 1:11:06campus now, and they put them in plain clothes now.
- 1:11:09Now put them. You need to put them in plain
- 1:11:11clothes and you need to be like janitors.
- 1:11:12Well, you should be doing them every day.
- 1:11:14Remember, we had proctors in high school.
- 1:11:16That's where they should be at in plain clothes Proctors when
- 1:11:19they should be. They blend in.
- 1:11:21You'll never know. When I'm talking to schools, you
- 1:11:24know, because sometimes it may, they want to try to protect the
- 1:11:27students. The students shouldn't hear
- 1:11:28this. I think the students should hear
- 1:11:30at every level because there's nothing I'm talking about that
- 1:11:34they don't know. And I'm providing proactive
- 1:11:37strategies to mitigate it. And those aren't scary.
- 1:11:40It's just situation awareness that they don't know anything
- 1:11:42about, you know, but they think that they're protecting the
- 1:11:45student from OK, well, let's talk to this, the, the faculty
- 1:11:47and staff there because you don't know either.
- 1:11:50You're not, you're not doing it either.
- 1:11:51So let's talk to you. And then you, you'll filter it
- 1:11:54down. But they, they don't, they, they
- 1:11:57don't get it as well. But I think for a school who the
- 1:12:02the start again, the better you, the more you know your student,
- 1:12:07which is the know your neighbor part, the more you're going to,
- 1:12:11the more you're going to find out.
- 1:12:12So if I'm a principal, I'm trying to get the best
- 1:12:17communicators of my faculty and staff.
- 1:12:20You know, like you went to school when you went when we
- 1:12:22went to school, Mr. so and so, Miss so and so now I can go tell
- 1:12:26her anything, man. We was cool.
- 1:12:28And they were the football culture, whatever they were.
- 1:12:30There was always 1 teacher, if not a few that you can just go
- 1:12:34talk to, right? That's who they need to use.
- 1:12:38Let Mr. or Mr. so and so befriend as many students as
- 1:12:41possible, because when this thing is going to go down over
- 1:12:44here, like like you talked about Mr. Evans and some that that
- 1:12:47happened in some of the schools or whatever, the people won't
- 1:12:50care. But something happened.
- 1:12:51Well, that's already planned. It's not, it's not, it's not a
- 1:12:56hasty thing that happened. It's already planned and
- 1:12:59students know some of them just want to be onlookers.
- 1:13:02They want to film it or whatever the case may be.
- 1:13:04So they know one of them can go tell Mister so and so who
- 1:13:08befriends all the students. Hey, this is going down.
- 1:13:10But I just want you to know about you.
- 1:13:12Don't tell anybody I told you you.
- 1:13:14They have to have that person that that's a start on the
- 1:13:17inside right there because they can make it.
- 1:13:19They're not going to the resource officer.
- 1:13:21They ain't going there in. In fact, when the shooting is
- 1:13:25going down, these kids, the 14151617 year olds, they're so
- 1:13:29smart and they're attacked. They're taking out the resource
- 1:13:32officer first. That's the only threat.
- 1:13:33Let's get that one first. Now I'm going to do whatever I
- 1:13:36want to that's happening. But I I would love to let go you
- 1:13:40off the air and put something together.
- 1:13:43The workplace and school. I have a lot of connections,
- 1:13:45principals and stuff. I would love to do that with
- 1:13:47you. I can get us in the schools.
- 1:13:50OK. Let me, let me bring to the
- 1:13:53deck. Oh, oh, oh, the legend.
- 1:13:59The one the only the legend. Frozen.
- 1:14:02Yeah. Ronnie, you got a good signal
- 1:14:04over there. Man, Riley, he got, he got the.
- 1:14:06Name. Hey, I should I?
- 1:14:07Should I had a signal? Wait a minute.
- 1:14:09What in the world? Let me see.
- 1:14:10Give me double. Jacks give me double Jack.
- 1:14:15I was wondering why that that image looked the same.
- 1:14:17It didn't. I'm like is he looking in the
- 1:14:18screen down there? He froze down there.
- 1:14:20That's why he. Looked, you know, the movie
- 1:14:22froze. He froze it froze it.
- 1:14:24But a jumper jacket is hand. Come on.
- 1:14:26That yeah, legendary, you know what I mean?
- 1:14:28But yeah, we, we, I would love to do that, man.
- 1:14:30Definitely. We have an icon legend man over
- 1:14:33the couple of ladies and gentlemen, a legend we got.
- 1:14:35We got Mr. Mr. Bill Montgomery over here in the What's
- 1:14:39happening? Bill.
- 1:14:40Bill. Hey, man, I'm just, I'm just
- 1:14:43happy to be on with you, with you brothers, man.
- 1:14:45I'm going to listen in. Salute you, Mr. Hidden Figures.
- 1:14:48Powerful man. Lord on.
- 1:14:50Yeah, man. I mean, I hear you guys talking
- 1:14:52about some schools, man, you know that?
- 1:14:54That's my sweet spot. Yeah.
- 1:14:57Sweet spot, sweet spot. Sweet spot.
- 1:15:01The sweet spot is not that sweet.
- 1:15:03It's it's an after the fact discussion.
- 1:15:05Man, we're trying to keep people safe.
- 1:15:11Sometimes it works right, but everybody has to be involved.
- 1:15:16So the year 2018, a 14 year old student had posted on Julian
- 1:15:23Edelman's account his his Instagram account, right?
- 1:15:26You know who Julian elements also on this account that he was
- 1:15:30going to shoot up? He said watch the news because
- 1:15:34I'm going to shoot up the school.
- 1:15:36Oh wow, I remember that, I remember that.
- 1:15:38Didn't see it, but someone saw it and it told him.
- 1:15:44Then he told his assistant he went in Boston at times.
- 1:15:47Told his assistant who was in Boston.
- 1:15:49She told the Boston police who contacted the Ford Huron police
- 1:15:53in Michigan and they were able to foil the attack.
- 1:15:57You know, so, so it works. But when it started with someone
- 1:16:00being situation aware to see where this kid had posted that
- 1:16:02thing, said he's going to do that, right?
- 1:16:05And then there's another one. There's an exchange student.
- 1:16:09He told his friend that, hey, don't come to school on, you
- 1:16:12know, a certain date because I'm going to shoot up the school and
- 1:16:18had the courage to be a hero and go report it.
- 1:16:22So that attack was foiled. So you think about this, the
- 1:16:24exchange student, so you had to come over here for some place
- 1:16:26else has a guard close to it. You get the what if you get
- 1:16:31that, that proximity illusion where they don't know what's
- 1:16:33going on. This kid had bought various
- 1:16:36parts online to put a gun together.
- 1:16:40See that don't happen in Los Angeles.
- 1:16:42That's a beat down LA. You tell your your fellow friend
- 1:16:46man, I'm going to shoot up lock high school on modern day or
- 1:16:50Dorsey, you get this Damn man, I love you brother.
- 1:16:56I put you behind what happened to do so?
- 1:16:57I know what happened LA at all. You know what happened?
- 1:17:00No, we don't pay that up here. It's a whole new ball game.
- 1:17:03So yeah, all the other places, man, I exchange ass with
- 1:17:08exchange students. Exchange yourself back to your
- 1:17:10country, exchange your hands. What you want to do.
- 1:17:16It's crazy, man. The world, it's the parents.
- 1:17:19The parents ain't paying attention to their kids.
- 1:17:21Yeah, man, that's, that's, that's that's why, you know,
- 1:17:24that's why at least the ability to go into these, you know,
- 1:17:27elementary and middle schools at at that level.
- 1:17:31Bill has the power to do that. I do have the power to do that
- 1:17:34because people listen to people who have, who have initiatives
- 1:17:37go in and tell these kids, hey, have a National Safety Day.
- 1:17:40We'll never have it for school. We have this.
- 1:17:42We have a pie day and a famous hot dog.
- 1:17:45Ease burger days and French fry day and.
- 1:17:48It's crazy the national hot dog day, really the head with your
- 1:17:53kid getting shot at school on Thursday.
- 1:17:55Eat that hot dog, but you have national hot dog day.
- 1:17:57It's, I mean we, we, we pick our.
- 1:17:59Like you say, like you say, we don't.
- 1:18:01We don't pay attention until it's at your front door and
- 1:18:04then. Now it's going to happen.
- 1:18:06They're going to start talking about like what we should have
- 1:18:08done right? How do we miss the signs and but
- 1:18:12we never pay attention alone. That's how Yeah, so far removed
- 1:18:15from it. You ain't never going to go
- 1:18:17going to solve it, man. They didn't do anything.
- 1:18:20So but I'd love to Mr. Mr. Woman, get with you and put some
- 1:18:24big thing together. I have a couple connects to the
- 1:18:26mayor's office. So we send the council people I
- 1:18:28could talk to the Holly Mitchells and about in different
- 1:18:31districts. Yes, Hey, we do a safety day for
- 1:18:33women, for kids, teaching kids how to defend themselves when it
- 1:18:38comes back to attackers. So yeah, I love to do that and.
- 1:18:40And and and that and that and that listening skill.
- 1:18:42We, like I said, we say we listen, we say we pay attention,
- 1:18:45but a lot of it is reactive. A lot of it is is not.
- 1:18:48We don't. I don't pertain to me, so I'm
- 1:18:50not paying attention. I don't care about all this.
- 1:18:54It does. You do though.
- 1:18:55It does. So you got to pay attention, you
- 1:19:00got to get off this thing for for a minute and.
- 1:19:07Your attention, that's that's that's a huge distraction.
- 1:19:08I call the future. I call the future ex-wife.
- 1:19:22What's going on? What's up, man?
- 1:19:23I've been telling you about the last few days.
- 1:19:26I said Roddy, go be on. The hey, I'm glad.
- 1:19:27Oh my. God.
- 1:19:30We had a little technical difficulties there, logging in,
- 1:19:33so many people crashes. He's crashing the Internet for
- 1:19:36Ron and it's all y'all fault. My bad man, my bad man, my bad.
- 1:19:44There we go, man, ladies and. Gentlemen, it's all good.
- 1:19:46The. Man the man 1970s if y'all was
- 1:19:48around in the 70s and didn't know what a burger was, I was.
- 1:19:52Dripping. Until Rodney came along and said
- 1:19:55it's too big my mouth. Everybody, Black said We going
- 1:19:58to try it anyway. My mother bought like 15.
- 1:20:00Tumblr neck. That's right.
- 1:20:04She came home and said that's. Right.
- 1:20:06Commercial Last night when y'all were in the bed I told that we
- 1:20:09were we going to eat. He said where he was
- 1:20:12jack-in-the-box he was going to tell you he had two team jump
- 1:20:15jacks bro. After that day, it was hooked on
- 1:20:17every Friday with Jumber Jack night.
- 1:20:19Every Friday I. Found a house for over 10 years
- 1:20:21man. I saw it and before his picture.
- 1:20:25Now I'm thinking. That's what I wanted right
- 1:20:37there. That's what we.
- 1:20:54Brother, listen, I've been knowing I've been knowing for
- 1:20:56Ron for a while, been knowing Dre for a while.
- 1:20:59Bill, man, these are these are class act people because they
- 1:21:03care about the community. They care about a positive
- 1:21:07message. They care about helping the
- 1:21:08youth. I like being around good people
- 1:21:11and like you, brother. It's a pleasure meeting you too,
- 1:21:14man, because we we're very this time that we're in more than
- 1:21:19ever, we need to keep the youth motivated.
- 1:21:22We need to show them opportunities.
- 1:21:25That's why, you know, Trey's doing what he's doing, Mr. Adams
- 1:21:28and and going to be making his mark in local politics and doing
- 1:21:32his thing for Ron. He's been doing such great
- 1:21:35things, you know, telling his story and and being able to
- 1:21:39really help shine a light on sickle cell and so many
- 1:21:42different other things. And I, I'm just fortunate enough
- 1:21:46to be able to be in the collection of good people.
- 1:21:50And my career, yes, I started out 1972 and worked with all the
- 1:21:57greats from Sammy Davis junior to George Burns to Mel Brooks to
- 1:22:02I can go on and on and on. And but now is the time that
- 1:22:06we're building. And so, you know, between being
- 1:22:10with Bill and the hidden pioneers and work with Bill and
- 1:22:13you know, Bill's, you know, Bill and I are developing ATV show
- 1:22:18called Hidden Garages with young people.
- 1:22:20And, you know, it's just a, a real cool time for us to be all
- 1:22:25working together and making our mark in broadcast, in business
- 1:22:31and politics and, and, and definitely through education.
- 1:22:36Yes, yes. Now one thing I want to say, I'm
- 1:22:41sure everybody feel the same way after people that are listening
- 1:22:43right now. Rodney is inspiration for us
- 1:22:46black Americans because for a brother like him for like him
- 1:22:51being in seven and all these years of Hollywood, never heard
- 1:22:54of Rodney going to jail. Never see no mug shots.
- 1:22:57And that's a that's a that's man.
- 1:22:59How many you people you know in the industry right now and and
- 1:23:02get a mug shot in Hollywood almost every other day.
- 1:23:05Robert Downey Junior, he broke the record and he was he was
- 1:23:09they would let him. They would let him out of jail
- 1:23:10to do movies and stuff they had never been done.
- 1:23:13Let a brother go to jail. He was you get no Vin rings but
- 1:23:15get out of jail. You do no no part in the movie.
- 1:23:17You. Going to stay, right?
- 1:23:19Right. But but, but hey.
- 1:23:20Yeah, well, see that's honestly I didn't want to Dre brother, I
- 1:23:27didn't want to test the system. I didn't want to.
- 1:23:30And so I had because it apparently for us it don't work
- 1:23:35the same. So I decided not to try that at
- 1:23:37all and. Exactly.
- 1:23:40Being and, and me, you know, growing up in Long Beach, I grew
- 1:23:44up with a family who, you know, I saw my dad, he was a hard
- 1:23:48working man. And my mom, she always took care
- 1:23:51of everything and just to be able to be a part of it.
- 1:23:54And once my career started, you know, my brother and sister, my
- 1:23:58sister Beverly Lee and my brother Kenneth Wayne, we all
- 1:24:02were signed up. It wasn't like I was some golden
- 1:24:04child. My, my sister actually was the
- 1:24:06first one in our family to land a commercial and she landed a
- 1:24:11commercial and then my brother, he went out for the audition for
- 1:24:16the famous Coca-Cola commercial. Remember, I like to teach the
- 1:24:20world to sing in perfect Harmon. So my brother, he auditioned and
- 1:24:24went out and was a part of that. And then I was the baby of the
- 1:24:28family. I got the call for
- 1:24:29Jack-in-the-box and was just blessed and fortunate to land a
- 1:24:34career or or an actually an, an audition with jack-in-the-box.
- 1:24:39And at the time, what a lot of people didn't know back in 1972,
- 1:24:43jack-in-the-box was in foreclosure.
- 1:24:46They were all the way on the East Coast and they were losing
- 1:24:50the company and they got all the way to Texas.
- 1:24:53And that's when they made a corporate decision to say, if we
- 1:24:56let this go any further, we're losing this company.
- 1:25:00So when they were just a West Coast operation from Texas to
- 1:25:03California, that's when they decided to do this last ditch
- 1:25:09effort to have this campaign, this jack-in-the-box commercial.
- 1:25:12They just wanted a boy, a girl, white, black.
- 1:25:15They didn't care. They just called 100 kids in and
- 1:25:18they were hoping for the best. And I landed the commercial.
- 1:25:22And you? Got and so and that's what
- 1:25:25pulled them out of pull them out of bankruptcy.
- 1:25:28And so, you know, 50 years later, the company still in
- 1:25:33they, they've got a, they got a little bit of hiccup going right
- 1:25:36now, but you never know. That creates an opportunity for
- 1:25:39me to to re emerge again with them.
- 1:25:42And do some. Work.
- 1:25:45I. Would already ready to go.
- 1:25:54And Mr. Womack, you know I am you hate you know me I call
- 1:25:58about online on the air all the time.
- 1:25:59I'm going to call you out again All you corporates at
- 1:26:02jack-in-the-box. Y'all know for a fact the reason
- 1:26:05why people eating eating the jumbo Jack is cousin's brother
- 1:26:08over here to the. You think that hey, now in in
- 1:26:12the industry, it's like they they're taking a few chances on
- 1:26:17new things, but they're going back and doing sequel or prequel
- 1:26:21or recall. They they got so many cools
- 1:26:23going on. We don't know what they are
- 1:26:24exactly. Oh yeah, the audience, right.
- 1:26:28But I just think about that. You think about that Mister
- 1:26:30Ribby of of 72 and now a world was then they'll show that
- 1:26:35commercial then and then, oh man, that's.
- 1:26:37A That's a It's a classic beginning all over again all.
- 1:26:42Over again all. Over.
- 1:26:50Again, hey, you know what, it's a no brainer.
- 1:26:52It's a marketing no brainer because our generation now have
- 1:26:58kids and families and and if they say, you know, I remember
- 1:27:02back in the day when I was a young man and like you, Dre and
- 1:27:06and eating a jumbo jacket now shoot, you know, you, you still
- 1:27:10get to take a pit stop by and grab one and and you know,
- 1:27:14that's what it's all about. Yeah, What do you ever do?
- 1:27:16I'm going to feel myself. I'm going to go up and say, hey,
- 1:27:18it's two bits from my mom. How do you been telling me?
- 1:27:21Jumbo Jack. That's right.
- 1:27:38That's right. And that man should be ashamed
- 1:27:40to say a little box head man with the little jacket box of
- 1:27:42his head hide in his face. I'm afraid that he you get a
- 1:27:45check. That's what it is.
- 1:27:46But you put Snoop Dogg with a munchie meal and and you give
- 1:27:51Ice Cube his own and Ice Cube would say what?
- 1:27:53What did they say? Wait, what Snoop saw you?
- 1:27:56Tell me what Snoop told you when he saw you for the first time.
- 1:27:59I I actually, I bumped in the Snoop and I was at the the night
- 1:28:05that actually was really funny. My homeboy is flavored Flav from
- 1:28:07Public Enemy. And so that was the night that
- 1:28:10they roasted flavored Flav on MTV and, and what happened was
- 1:28:18Snoop was there as part of the people that was roasting Flav.
- 1:28:22And I'm tell they said some of the most horrendous stuff to
- 1:28:26Flav. I I just ran, I just, it was, it
- 1:28:28was so rough that it was funny and I was just like, Oh my God.
- 1:28:32But you have, you know, if you going to be roasted, you got you
- 1:28:35open yourself up for that. But we were all backstage.
- 1:28:38And so I saw Snoop. I never met him.
- 1:28:41You know, he's from Long Beach. I'm from Long Beach.
- 1:28:43He was on the east side. I was on the West side.
- 1:28:45And I said, man, I want to meet Snoop.
- 1:28:47So we're backstage and I just welcome to him.
- 1:28:49And I, I tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around.
- 1:28:52I said, hey, man. I said, I just want to say hello
- 1:28:54to you. And he's like, yeah, man.
- 1:28:56I said, hey, I'm Long Beach, man, Rodney Allen Rippy.
- 1:28:59And he said, what? Rodney Allen Rippy?
- 1:29:01And he freaked out. He was like, man.
- 1:29:04Hey everybody, is Rodney. Allen Rippy.
- 1:29:08And I was like, I was like, I couldn't believe he freaked out
- 1:29:10like. That I mean he really.
- 1:29:11Did I was like, and I was like, yeah, man, it, it was really
- 1:29:17cool. And I'm I'm happy to see him
- 1:29:19with all his success and all the things that he's done and the
- 1:29:22Olympics and so many other things.
- 1:29:24And it, it's just when you see that type of push and that type
- 1:29:31of reach within the masses, not just in California, globally,
- 1:29:37he's a he, he's an influencer. And so, you know, what do you
- 1:29:41expect? So that's how the big, the big
- 1:29:44offers come in. That's how a lot of stuff
- 1:29:46happening. So I'm looking at between
- 1:29:49working with Bill and for Ron and you, Dre and and Mr. Womack.
- 1:29:53I mean, I, I want to be able to use what I have as an act as a,
- 1:30:00you know, as an access to the city of Los Angeles, the
- 1:30:04education, the youth, not only just here, but across the
- 1:30:07country. And I mean, we've got everything
- 1:30:11from technology. I'm part of a group called
- 1:30:14Matrix Capital. And Matrix Capital is a great
- 1:30:18group of leaders. I mean, we've got generals that
- 1:30:22are part of Matrix Capital. We have the president of the
- 1:30:26West Point Society. I mean, we have so many
- 1:30:30different people who have built industries in communities.
- 1:30:35There are grant writers that are part of Matrix Capital who've
- 1:30:38closed $1,000,000 deals and they're doing, they're doing a
- 1:30:41big development in Las Vegas now they're down in North, you know,
- 1:30:46North Las Vegas like downtown and they're building a, a stem
- 1:30:51center down there. These are the type of things
- 1:30:53that our community need and should know about.
- 1:30:57And you know, I'm happy to just to be a part of good things in
- 1:31:02in the community. Yeah, I found about now I know
- 1:31:05for a fact you work for LA Vets. What?
- 1:31:07What are you doing with LA Vets for them?
- 1:31:08Then we talked a couple of times.
- 1:31:10Well, I'm, yeah, LA Vets, you know, they are.
- 1:31:14That's US Vets. US Vets, you know, that's a
- 1:31:17major, major veterans organization.
- 1:31:20They help veterans who have went through a tough transition.
- 1:31:24Some of them need a place. And US Vets is directly connect
- 1:31:28to the VA, so they make sure that they get housed housing and
- 1:31:33health and mental health services.
- 1:31:36And so that's what I'm wanting to do I'm, I'm in the process of
- 1:31:40starting the Rippy Foundation. I'm going to work with at risk
- 1:31:43youth, senior citizens and veterans.
- 1:31:45There shouldn't be one homeless veteran anywhere on any St. in
- 1:31:49America. Thank you.
- 1:31:51Let alone let alone Los Angeles. That's right.
- 1:31:56And they have given their all, believe it or not.
- 1:31:59I actually knew a veteran and it was sad because he was trying to
- 1:32:04get VA services and the line and the the medical care was kind of
- 1:32:09sketchy and he actually died waiting on services.
- 1:32:14And I'm hoping that, you know that these.
- 1:32:17Yeah. So you know, we.
- 1:32:20Right. And these are the type of things
- 1:32:22that should not happen. So hopefully you know, better
- 1:32:26times will come for our veterans and better opportunities,
- 1:32:30repurposing them, getting them trained, you know, and, and they
- 1:32:35should be the first in line for a home, you know, with all the
- 1:32:40available real estate. Our veterans should be better,
- 1:32:43you know, better taken care of, OK.
- 1:32:45I always say that the, in my experience, Steven, I didn't go
- 1:32:50to the VA until seven years after I got a military just just
- 1:32:54because of the myth. And then I finally said, I'm
- 1:32:56going to and I'm going to either confirm or deny the myth.
- 1:33:00And I confirm the myth. Like I made an appointment and I
- 1:33:06had to wait three months for it or four months.
- 1:33:08And then then they called and they canceled.
- 1:33:13I made another one and on the day of my appointment I'm
- 1:33:17driving and I'm like 5 minutes away.
- 1:33:18They called and said oh we have to cancel your appointment.
- 1:33:20No you're not I'm coming right now.
- 1:33:22I'll come here and talk to you then right?
- 1:33:26And they said well what happened?
- 1:33:28And they called a emergency meeting last night.
- 1:33:30But I said well you got my number why don't you call and
- 1:33:32tell me why? Why do you have to wait till
- 1:33:3310:30 in the morning as I'm driving here to do that right?
- 1:33:36The reason I got to be in the 1st place.
- 1:33:38Just confirm or did not admit and it's not a myth y'all got.
- 1:33:41I didn't use profane, I refrained.
- 1:33:44I didn't turn, sorry. I made it from I said this is
- 1:33:53about me in terms of my appointment.
- 1:33:55I said the way you guys treat people, it ain't it ain't going
- 1:34:00to affect me right now, but you know it's going to affect that
- 1:34:02person. That's 7075, whatever the age
- 1:34:05are, they don't have they don't have the vigor to put up with
- 1:34:10this to fight you. So they'll just going to go home
- 1:34:13and die? My uncle 74.
- 1:34:17And that's going to be on you, but you're not going to know
- 1:34:19because you, your appointment, they didn't even get here after
- 1:34:24that. They hurry up.
- 1:34:24You got me in. That was my first.
- 1:34:26That was my intake that just do the blood work and all.
- 1:34:28That's all it was because they say all the doctors are in the
- 1:34:34meeting upstairs would take me up there.
- 1:34:36This is a great time to tell them what the heck they doing.
- 1:34:39We're going to change the focus of the meeting.
- 1:34:41Right now we lost Bill. Bill, how to pick?
- 1:34:46Someone has to fight for him. You got someone has to fight for
- 1:34:51him. Yeah, that's right.
- 1:34:53I want to piggyback what Rodney was saying about your US Vance
- 1:34:56Bill. I know you and Rodney work
- 1:34:58simultaneously on a lot of things, so tell me about who you
- 1:35:01are, Mr. Bill. Yeah, so I'm CSI Bill stands for
- 1:35:04Common Sense Intelligence at the high school students gave me
- 1:35:08that nickname because I've come from military family.
- 1:35:12My dad was in Marines for 22 years and and he's always,
- 1:35:15besides spank that butt, he would say use your common sense,
- 1:35:17boy. So I grew up saying use your
- 1:35:21common sense, use your common sense.
- 1:35:23And I did. I started teaching in high
- 1:35:26schools and I said the same thing.
- 1:35:28And the kids got to get said Mr. Montgomery, you always tell my
- 1:35:30common sense. We're going to make a nickname
- 1:35:33CSI Bill. And I was like, OK, so I've been
- 1:35:36that since eight years ago. How'd you how'd you meet Rodney?
- 1:35:40Oh, man, I met, I met Ronnie. I meant what I mean, Rodney at
- 1:35:44man, it's been. Jack-in-the-box.
- 1:35:46Jack-in-the-box. Like all, like all of us.
- 1:35:49What you talking about? You going to go back to 1972?
- 1:35:54I was two years old. Yeah, there you go.
- 1:35:57From a guy named Al Ramirez, radio guy and he talked about
- 1:36:04Rodney's man. You got to, you know, you got to
- 1:36:06meet this guy and. And I met Rodney and ever since
- 1:36:10we connected up, we got some of the same views.
- 1:36:13And yeah, man, we, we, we started connecting up.
- 1:36:16And then I think for Ron came maybe a little bit later.
- 1:36:20Same thing, man. So I met for Ron, you know,
- 1:36:22quickly for Ron went to the schools, man and, and just
- 1:36:26dynamic man. So, you know, we're, we're on
- 1:36:28the same. Page of.
- 1:36:29Course, I was 18 years old, I was jumping on airplanes.
- 1:36:32So I went into the 82nd Airborne down in North Carolina, had a
- 1:36:37had a great time man and, and actually.
- 1:36:40I was going to do. I was going to do 20 years, but
- 1:36:44it, it, it started getting soft, you know, even back then.
- 1:36:47So I was like, man, I, they, they, I got to get out of here,
- 1:36:49man. Yeah, even back then.
- 1:36:50So now it's really, really soft. Oh my God they can't recruit.
- 1:36:54Their recruiting levels are the lowest ever.
- 1:36:56Bill, we can't see your face. Bill, we need to see your face.
- 1:36:58You see some sexy lips, man? What's your face there?
- 1:37:00You go? Yeah.
- 1:37:02Yeah, yeah, I got you. Lying one time Roku TV we on TV.
- 1:37:14That's right. And actually.
- 1:37:17We want to get. Kicked off the TV.
- 1:37:19Bro no, I'm glad you guys said it and obviously you can see the
- 1:37:23NASA shirt because. There you go.
- 1:37:26With with NASA and yeah, man, I'm just I'm happy to be able to
- 1:37:30give the information on this platform and thank you guys so
- 1:37:34much because media exposure. That's.
- 1:37:38Everything these days. So thank you guys for having me
- 1:37:41on and I'm just going to kick it back to you guys.
- 1:37:43I'm just happy to be here. I got.
- 1:37:45A question also, if you if you want to know, if you want to
- 1:37:49know more about Bill, just go to Hidden Pioneers dot com.
- 1:37:53That's hidden HIDDEN pioneers.com.
- 1:37:57We're really excited because Bill is connected to some great
- 1:38:00people. There's a lady named Emmeline
- 1:38:03King. Emmeline.
- 1:38:04She is the first African American female hired by the
- 1:38:08Ford Motor Company in the design division.
- 1:38:11So she was recently at a big event that we had out here.
- 1:38:15The lady plays a mean saxophone. She's an artist and she's got a
- 1:38:19big heart. She cares about the kids and
- 1:38:22Bill every what is it every Monday night Bill?
- 1:38:26Has a, a, a. Stream that he does and we go
- 1:38:30live and we just kind of work together with people who come in
- 1:38:34to talk about solutions. Not just talk, but we're looking
- 1:38:38for solutions for the community through STEM education and STEAM
- 1:38:44that science, technology, engineering, the arts and math.
- 1:38:47And Bill is kind of bringing back, you know, the shop classes
- 1:38:52and the lab classes for the young people.
- 1:38:54And that's what that's what the Hidden Pioneers is all about.
- 1:38:56And that's my measure, too. I'm running for city
- 1:38:58councillors. They bring it back, me and Riley
- 1:38:59talking about that. Karate's my campaign manager.
- 1:39:02And that's what's going to happen to the point that we know
- 1:39:05for a fact it's evolutionizing with these kids all to come to
- 1:39:09tech, everything we had all in high school when they took it
- 1:39:12all out and the Pledge of Allegiance, well, what happened
- 1:39:13to your school? They turned to prisons.
- 1:39:15Their minds have got slaves knocked out.
- 1:39:17In their minds, that's what the kids all messed up at.
- 1:39:20So NASA is like they well they're doing ads now they're
- 1:39:23doing the CIA doing ads. They ain't never did the CIA
- 1:39:26done never did we want you in the CIA.
- 1:39:27I'm like what? At midnight you get an ad for
- 1:39:30CIA to apply for a job that NASA too.
- 1:39:33Now the astronauts that was stuck in space for 11,000 years.
- 1:39:39When they came down they said they was paying them what, $5 a
- 1:39:43day? Did you see that?
- 1:39:45Is that true? They got they overtime they.
- 1:39:48Got a trillion dollars in space? That's a trillion dollars,
- 1:39:51though. OK, I got you.
- 1:39:52There you go. And, and President Trump said,
- 1:39:55well, I paid overtime. What is it?
- 1:39:56What? It's $14.53.
- 1:39:58So of course you're going to pay overtime at $14.00, but you stay
- 1:40:01in space nine months with your family, all you got is $11.00
- 1:40:05overtime. They didn't want to pay it
- 1:40:06nothing. That's crazy, man.
- 1:40:09So your bill not not. So is that how?
- 1:40:14How do they get paid? Probably astronaut to go up.
- 1:40:17Well, you know, it's almost like, like, like the military,
- 1:40:20you know, you're, you're on a contract and you, you know, you
- 1:40:22sign up and you know. $0.65 an hour man for 24 hours man.
- 1:40:26OK, there you go. That's good money man 65.
- 1:40:29Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:40:30So so. Yeah, back in them days, $0.65.
- 1:40:33Yeah, I got back in them days, Yeah.
- 1:40:37How do you pay and how do you go by the overtime?
- 1:40:39How do they come up with $11.53 overtime?
- 1:40:43Well, I don't know, man, whatever, whatever that, like I
- 1:40:46said, whatever the they're part of the military.
- 1:40:49So whatever that track is, you know, you know, it's like
- 1:40:53private, you know, first class, you know, and you get a little
- 1:40:57bit more. Yeah, I think.
- 1:40:59I think astronauts get a, you know, a little bit more because
- 1:41:02of the hazard pay, but it's it's not.
- 1:41:04You would think there'd be a lot, but Nope.
- 1:41:06It's. I won't be fine with space no
- 1:41:08time soon, but you try to think $3,000,000 to go up to the upper
- 1:41:12part and then come back on. You try the $3,000,000 to go up
- 1:41:16to the upper part of space to come back on.
- 1:41:18That's crazy. Bill, how much was how much was
- 1:41:23jump pay? Well, jump pay was was was $83 a
- 1:41:27month when I was there. 80. 2 I don't know what it it might be
- 1:41:33100. What year was that?
- 1:41:34What year was that? This was a 888383 to 86.
- 1:41:41Did they give you a tip if you turn your ankle it?
- 1:41:44Was 55. Dollars, sorry sorry mentioned
- 1:41:47that he was getting $55 back in in his days. 77 Who $50.
- 1:41:52Hey I'm I'm trying I'm trying to get service connected now as we
- 1:41:56speak. Oh my.
- 1:41:57God, my my ankle. He.
- 1:41:59Turned his ankle. I'm messing up, but I tell you.
- 1:42:02But but yeah, there's there's so much information.
- 1:42:09Offline, there you go. But it's an honor, man, to see,
- 1:42:12you know, these these these gentlemen here today and people
- 1:42:16understand behind all this experience and this knowledge
- 1:42:19and this God-given talent. You know, it's here to help
- 1:42:22society what society is all about.
- 1:42:23It's about our kids. And what are we going to do,
- 1:42:26gentlemen, about these kids generation?
- 1:42:28Is it talking to the parents? Is it What do you think?
- 1:42:31Is it the parents talk first we to the.
- 1:42:33Reconciliation. Malachi 4-5 and six, says that
- 1:42:37we can return the hearts of our parents back to our children,
- 1:42:39the hearts of our parents back to the children, back to their
- 1:42:41parents. So yeah, it's the direction we
- 1:42:45can get our children to, to, to, to develop and go home and share
- 1:42:50what they learn from an emotional, from mental toughness
- 1:42:53standpoint that parents going to come to the school.
- 1:42:55And be like, what are you? Teaching my child, because now
- 1:42:57they're talking different. They ain't talking like they
- 1:42:59used to. Now we draw that right or we
- 1:43:02have the parent come in and have a conversation one way or
- 1:43:04another. That's where it starts for me.
- 1:43:06It starts at that family dynamic and that we can restore that
- 1:43:10heart of that child back to that parent.
- 1:43:13And I and I truly honor my father and mother.
- 1:43:16I'm not going to want to hurt you.
- 1:43:18I'm not going to because my, I'm going to think about what my mom
- 1:43:22and dad's going to say if I steal that candy.
- 1:43:24What if I steal that? What is my mom and dad going to
- 1:43:27say first? I'm not going to do that.
- 1:43:29But why do we have to wait till we get in jail or get in our 40s
- 1:43:33and 50s to discover that that's what life should have been
- 1:43:35about, you know, 40 years ago. We can make those collections
- 1:43:39today. Those that are willing,
- 1:43:42everybody ain't willing to do that.
- 1:43:44Those that are. Willing to look at that.
- 1:43:45Conversation. That's right.
- 1:43:47Like a famous Eddie, the famous Eddie, Griffin said.
- 1:43:51We, my black folk were so fast. We had to.
- 1:43:53We had to beat that street light though.
- 1:43:56Hey. Let me tell you, it's just.
- 1:44:00It's just passive being in the house and going in the.
- 1:44:03House yeah you go to the house so brother 193 so you know what
- 1:44:08if we like you know as. Soon as it blinked, it was a
- 1:44:12rap. Drop the bat, drop the football.
- 1:44:18Nowadays 11 years old, out there until 11:00 on school nights
- 1:44:23running around shooting the. Gun no man.
- 1:44:25I have, I have 1/5 grader when I was when I started last year and
- 1:44:31we were talking about what is it to be respectful of my, of my
- 1:44:34family. And he said, oh, I know my, my
- 1:44:39mom stutters when she's lying. And I'm like, what?
- 1:44:43Like he already got his mother figured out that when she
- 1:44:46stutters, she's lying. Now what happened?
- 1:44:50He caught what happened where he discovered that that stutter was
- 1:44:54connected to something she said that was not true.
- 1:44:58Now that's how he listened to his mother when she stutters,
- 1:45:01she's lying. And he's 50.
- 1:45:03He. Was a 50 year I'm going to tell
- 1:45:06you what I was brought up in a little bit of different way my
- 1:45:09Mama could tell me anything and I believed it I'm.
- 1:45:15Going to tell you. I had I had the type of parents
- 1:45:18that whatever mom or daddy said, I believe it.
- 1:45:21I and there was no questioning if that you couldn't ask why.
- 1:45:25I mean, because that that that would entail the Hickory stick
- 1:45:29that if you started asking why that would the Hickory stick
- 1:45:33would come out and I I didn't need the Hickory stick so well.
- 1:45:37Well, let me tell you guys something in, in high school, I,
- 1:45:40I've done the R&D, OK? The, the couple things they say,
- 1:45:42first of all, like you said, soon as you say something, why
- 1:45:45what? OK.
- 1:45:47And then they they say when they get in trouble.
- 1:45:50So they say nobody told me. Nobody told me.
- 1:45:53So those, those, those are the things that that the kids say.
- 1:45:56Now why what? And nobody told me.
- 1:45:59Yeah. Wow.
- 1:46:01And Bill, Bill also has a great thing and it's it's called the
- 1:46:06you're, you're the cell phone curriculum that Bill has.
- 1:46:09It's it's the pocket computer. And Bill is, you know, also has
- 1:46:13a curriculum that's teaching the young people how to, you know,
- 1:46:18confidently use a cell phone and not to abuse it and not to get
- 1:46:22addicted to it. Because so many kids, you know,
- 1:46:25parents say, hey, you know, you used to be able to put a kid on
- 1:46:28restriction. All you got to do is take the
- 1:46:30cell phone. They'll freak out.
- 1:46:31So, you know, the whole thing is.
- 1:46:34But now we know that there's a lot of very good uses of the
- 1:46:39cell phone and all of the access and, and everything.
- 1:46:43But there's a lot of, there's a lot of bad.
- 1:46:47Yeah, it's too much. It's overkill.
- 1:46:49And if your and if your child is not properly using the the phone
- 1:46:54and the tablet and the computer in a wise way, because they
- 1:46:57really can get into some deep, deep trouble.
- 1:47:01Rodney, you're a campaign manager for.
- 1:47:04So I want to make sure. We we, we get that in that
- 1:47:06pocket computer curriculum. I'll put it into.
- 1:47:10It's got to get into our schools.
- 1:47:11It's I, I man, I let me tell you what T they don't want none of
- 1:47:14me. You got 6 foot 4300 plus that's
- 1:47:17running the City Council. I, I I'm not running.
- 1:47:20So you can you can make a threat and daddy can make threats.
- 1:47:22I mean, I'm highly trained. So I would would approach my,
- 1:47:26my, my podium. Please approach it and say what
- 1:47:29you're going to say. I want people to know that it's
- 1:47:32your fault as a parent, your fellow as a parent, because by
- 1:47:34your kids out there at 17 St. doing drive by mini bikes up and
- 1:47:39down the street at night time go karts and and we allow the
- 1:47:42police allow them to drive around the streets like that.
- 1:47:44Now it's like. I got a question.
- 1:47:47I got a question because I I just happened to be in Hollywood
- 1:47:50the other night and and I was Mandy still came down the street
- 1:47:56stunting on dirt bikes. No, yeah.
- 1:47:58Lights. No.
- 1:47:59Hell yeah. And the police was on the other
- 1:48:02side of the street and I was like, I remember back in the
- 1:48:05day, if you had a mini bite, it was over.
- 1:48:08They confiscated. Your mini bite.
- 1:48:12Done. I mean no.
- 1:48:14If they stopped you, if they stopped you, your bike got
- 1:48:18confiscated. Your parents had to get
- 1:48:20involved. It was a ticket.
- 1:48:23And now, I mean the police were just sitting there on Sunset and
- 1:48:26these dudes came down, came down Hollywood Blvd. study and it had
- 1:48:31to be 30 of them. That was for Yeah on 3rd.
- 1:48:33That was for Instagram. That was for.
- 1:48:35Instagram, man, that's Instagram.
- 1:48:37Tick tock money, Tick tock money.
- 1:48:39Wow. I'm going to stop there with the
- 1:48:40street takeovers. That's my main, one of my
- 1:48:42initiatives. If your parents got a kid under
- 1:48:4418 driving that and tree takeovers we snatch in your car,
- 1:48:47we're going to dissemble it and the parents are going to pay to
- 1:48:49get it out. So you're going to get a piece
- 1:48:50of it out. You didn't get the whole car.
- 1:48:53You want the two. You want the you want the
- 1:48:54steering wheel, both tires. Here you go.
- 1:48:58All right, gentlemen, we got to get out of here.
- 1:49:02It's our major man. I I thank you for.
- 1:49:05Hanging out with us, man. Thank you for your information,
- 1:49:08for your book, for your knowledge, and and as you can
- 1:49:11see, we are we're all on the same page with you.
- 1:49:13So we look forward to having some more discussions and
- 1:49:15figuring out how to implement these conversations that are
- 1:49:18missing. They're missing in our
- 1:49:20community, in our school. So that's what.
- 1:49:24We're up to write a book, man called Why?
- 1:49:26Why bully me? But Drake, it hurt you.
- 1:49:27What do you call the book you scared of kid?
- 1:49:30Bring back scare straight bring it back.
- 1:49:33Bring it back. That's.
- 1:49:34Right. I told Doctor Bond, yes, on
- 1:49:39Monday, like man, we need to have a boot camp.
- 1:49:40I'd say because man, LA, you know, if LAUSD is so protective,
- 1:49:44you can't really say nothing because the child could be like,
- 1:49:47oh, he said something to me or he.
- 1:49:48He in jail. Be in trouble but I'm like bro
- 1:49:51like I can. You can only say so much.
- 1:49:54Yeah, right. You need to have a boot camp so
- 1:49:57so we could do some front leaning rest or something.
- 1:49:59Everything but they messed up like you directive, you don't
- 1:50:03get in shape at the same time or something.
- 1:50:05But there's this. They're so protected, not in the
- 1:50:08wrong way, but you really can't even say much to them without.
- 1:50:12Right. Trying to get it.
- 1:50:14You might be in trouble for saying something, but you can't
- 1:50:15do that. You can't.
- 1:50:16Say that and listen, at Washington Prep High School,
- 1:50:19they had two ROTC instructors. One was there for a long time
- 1:50:25and he had his uniforms like that in the front lobby, blah,
- 1:50:28blah. Man, he, he, he said something
- 1:50:31to kid kids and he said something.
- 1:50:32They, they, they got rid of him. Man, yeah.
- 1:50:35The kids are the winners. The kids are the winners.
- 1:50:38So definitely. So Mr. Woman, what we're going
- 1:50:41to do with you is make sure we get our information and then of
