- 1:34Speaker 1: Christian rap is on the rise. And so I think
- 1:36Speaker 1: I'm about to spend a little scripture. Okay, what did
- 1:40Speaker 1: Peter do? He didn't do it because he did what
- 1:43Speaker 1: the Lord told him. But I got one rap song together.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I got one raps all together. Does a rate? Does
- 1:56Speaker 1: a rate? Does a rate? Does a rate? Doesn't rate?
- 1:59Speaker 1: But that one? Is it a consider a round song
- 2:02Speaker 1: or just a song? It's a song. We're gonna it's
- 2:06Speaker 1: gonna grow. You wanna ask them? You know verses? You
- 2:10Speaker 1: want a verse? Oh, you're spoiled.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Somebody spoiled y'all did it?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Y'all did it? Y'all y'all have created a monster because
- 2:22Speaker 1: nobody even even talking to coach today, she's like, tell
- 2:25Speaker 1: this said she can hear. She said, Deyla, I did
- 2:32Speaker 1: a pot of interview the other day and he was like, man,
- 2:35Speaker 1: I ain't never seen nobody had their own theme song before.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Because she she heard, she heard, what's up you guys?
- 2:44Speaker 1: Tell them how you're doing, girl, because you already know
- 2:46Speaker 1: they want to know I'm good, Like you know, uh,
- 2:49Speaker 1: it's it's the summer time. You know, it's it's a
- 2:53Speaker 1: little human outside. You know, it's a little hot, you know,
- 2:56Speaker 1: glistening it before they started talking because you said the summertime,
- 2:59Speaker 1: and I got this thrown on. It's thin, it's a
- 3:02Speaker 1: little here. Still wre long sleeves because I'm very cold
- 3:05Speaker 1: nature most of the time, and for some reason, like
- 3:07Speaker 1: inside cold is a little different from the outside cold.
- 3:10Speaker 1: From yeah, I'm typically gonna have some sleeves on a
- 3:13Speaker 1: blanket or something on the inside.
- 3:14Speaker 3: I even still put heaters at my feet.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yes, yes, ma'am. I have a heater in my work
- 3:21Speaker 1: from home job. I got my heater in my work
- 3:29Speaker 1: from home job, and I need another one because it'd
- 3:32Speaker 1: be like overheating, so it goes you don't work there.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I'm craving. But we're finna have a time today. Okay.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I know y'all looking at the titles, description or whatever,
- 3:50Speaker 1: no know what it is. But before we get into
- 3:53Speaker 1: our special guest today, listen, you already know what time
- 3:55Speaker 1: it is. What time is it?
- 3:57Speaker 3: Community highlight highlight?
- 4:00Speaker 1: Now, that's a song we gotta get ye because we
- 4:02Speaker 1: got that song together. But no, it's the community highlight time,
- 4:05Speaker 1: and I want to do a personal community highlight. She
- 4:10Speaker 1: is not just somebody that has been supportive, but I
- 4:14Speaker 1: just met this girl maybe like a month or two ago,
- 4:17Speaker 1: and she has already like been pouring into the brand
- 4:21Speaker 1: of Jessica is Smith period, Like it just as just
- 4:26Speaker 1: the person that's supposed to offer and be this entrepreneur.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Just hold up, not supposed to is the entrepreneur. Thank you,
- 4:35Speaker 1: thank you. Anyway, she has been doing that, and so
- 4:40Speaker 1: I want to shout my girl, Tiffany McCall out. She
- 4:45Speaker 1: is the host of Free Your Mind podcast and I'm
- 4:49Speaker 1: super excited to be doing life with you. Tiffany. This
- 4:51Speaker 1: comes from my heart. You've you've entered my life and
- 4:56Speaker 1: you have poured into me like nobody's being business and
- 5:00Speaker 1: you've you've really shown me some true accountability, like you
- 5:04Speaker 1: are a stranger and you are a stranger and now
- 5:07Speaker 1: I feel like I know you, like you've told me
- 5:09Speaker 1: the other day it was like, Jessica, accountability is not
- 5:13Speaker 1: just about the business part, but it's about life because
- 5:15Speaker 1: I was going through some things. Girl, I've been going
- 5:17Speaker 1: through some personal things and you've been there, and so
- 5:19Speaker 1: I just want to say thank you, and I just
- 5:21Speaker 1: want to pour the love of the Lord into your space.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I pray that everything that you've pinned out for the
- 5:27Speaker 1: past five years it be brought back to you in
- 5:31Speaker 1: double form. I pray right now, Lord, that God is
- 5:34Speaker 1: very clear with you, that God breathes on every business,
- 5:37Speaker 1: every thought, every attribute, your home, your your your space,
- 5:41Speaker 1: your spaces of influence. I even thank you, Lord, thank
- 5:44Speaker 1: the Lord for blessing and blowing on the on the
- 5:47Speaker 1: stages that you come upon, whether it's acting, singing, speaking, hosting, moderating,
- 5:53Speaker 1: every aspect and desire of your heart that has been
- 5:55Speaker 1: made known to God, and you verbalized that. Hallelujah. I
- 5:59Speaker 1: even challenge you to continue to verbalize it to the
- 6:02Speaker 1: Lord and it shall come to pass. So I just
- 6:05Speaker 1: want to say I love you till thank you so much,
- 6:08Speaker 1: and we love you over here. It just asked the
- 6:10Speaker 1: podcasta y'all gonna show my girls a love a Free
- 6:14Speaker 1: of Mine podcast. She also does Freedom Fridays on her Instagram.
- 6:18Speaker 1: So I mean she if you if you know how
- 6:20Speaker 1: the Eric about due Era, you know what do they
- 6:22Speaker 1: call him? The neo soul type of feel vibe. That's
- 6:28Speaker 1: what my girl gives you. Like She's chocolate and fine
- 6:30Speaker 1: and got the dreads and you know she's just beautiful
- 6:35Speaker 1: just on the in side of she she her, she
- 6:37Speaker 1: is her. I love that she is her okay, And
- 6:40Speaker 1: so yeah, y'all know I do not pull up nobody
- 6:42Speaker 1: that's not legit. I don't. I don't. The girl is
- 6:45Speaker 1: git okay, and so let's let's get into it because
- 6:48Speaker 1: I know y'all y'all ready to hear from our wonderful guest. Listen,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I met this lady. She had did let me. Let'm
- 6:55Speaker 1: just gonna tell y'all, y'all have be DM me to
- 6:57Speaker 1: be on the podcast and stuff like that. I really
- 6:59Speaker 1: go into prayer about it, like so if I don't,
- 7:01Speaker 1: if I don't, for one, if you DM me on Facebook,
- 7:05Speaker 1: sometimes I don't see it, so coming like on a
- 7:08Speaker 1: photo or something, and then I can go go to
- 7:10Speaker 1: the requests because I do not see it. And so
- 7:12Speaker 1: that's what happened with the Woman of God this the
- 7:16Speaker 1: other day. But she DM me and I didn't see
- 7:21Speaker 1: the DM and then we end up being at the
- 7:22Speaker 1: same event together, so we know this is God and
- 7:26Speaker 1: we had an encounter, and she she waited to the
- 7:30Speaker 1: till the end to tell me that she was the
- 7:33Speaker 1: one that was like, why you ain't say that? Earlier
- 7:34Speaker 1: when we were talking, she was like, Nah, I didn't
- 7:37Speaker 1: want to do it X Y and Z. But after
- 7:39Speaker 1: hearing her story, after hearing or at least part of
- 7:42Speaker 1: the story, because I ain't I ain't even got a
- 7:43Speaker 1: full story yet, but hearing her overcoming uh this, this
- 7:49Speaker 1: disease and not pertaining to her but her daughter. I
- 7:54Speaker 1: y'all know that my dad has been on his cancer journey,
- 7:58Speaker 1: and so when I hear the word cancer, it does
- 8:00Speaker 1: it does something to my chest and my stomach that
- 8:03Speaker 1: I just I hate that word. I do not have
- 8:06Speaker 1: a good relationship with quick cancer because it has just
- 8:09Speaker 1: definitely disrupted some areas in our life. But God, but
- 8:14Speaker 1: to God be the glory, right because there there are
- 8:17Speaker 1: overcoming stories like the story that we're about to hear today,
- 8:20Speaker 1: And so I am proud and excited to introduce you
- 8:25Speaker 1: guys to my new friend, my new homegirl, Miss Crystal Bowman.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I know, doesn't ray.
- 8:38Speaker 4: You doing?
- 8:39Speaker 1: Let me tell y'all something. I kept calling her miss
- 8:42Speaker 1: Bowman earlier. She was like, don't you call me miss?
- 8:45Speaker 1: I said, well, god you Crystal. So hete Crystal Man,
- 8:50Speaker 1: how you doing? You know? Like how, No, don't give
- 8:53Speaker 1: me no surface but answer, how are you? Crystal? I'm
- 8:59Speaker 1: doing well?
- 9:00Speaker 4: Honestly, I am doing really well. I'm in a space
- 9:05Speaker 4: now to where I'm doing better through therapy, fasting, and praying.
- 9:10Speaker 4: It's I'm in a better space.
- 9:12Speaker 1: It's a lot because you you you didn't You didn't
- 9:15Speaker 1: tackle the beast. Now you you have tackled a beast.
- 9:18Speaker 1: So let's let's get to know about you before we
- 9:21Speaker 1: start talking about your daughter's journey. Where are you from?
- 9:24Speaker 4: I'm originally from Gordo, Alabama. Who yeah, you're not gonna
- 9:33Speaker 4: find it. I'm from Gordo, Alabama. My graduating class only
- 9:39Speaker 4: had seventy five people.
- 9:40Speaker 1: So that, now, ma'am, that tells you a lot. Let
- 9:43Speaker 1: me tell you something. No, you say seventy five people?
- 9:45Speaker 1: I graduated with ten and I went to school at
- 9:48Speaker 1: Fairfield shout out to Restoration Academy and Home of the Bulldogs.
- 9:52Speaker 1: It was private school though, but no Gordo, Gordo. Where
- 9:56Speaker 1: is that?
- 9:56Speaker 2: Bye?
- 9:56Speaker 4: It's in Pickens County, So it's West Pickens County. So
- 10:00Speaker 4: Gordo reformed Carrollton Aliceville, OK. So it's in between Northport
- 10:05Speaker 4: and Mississippi.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Oh, okay, nor Northport, not Northport.
- 10:10Speaker 1: And if y'all don't know what north part is, it's
- 10:13Speaker 1: over there by Tuscalusis. I went to road Tipe. Yeah, okay,
- 10:16Speaker 1: you thought I was like Reform. That sounds familiar, but
- 10:19Speaker 1: you say North Fork. Yeah, I know exactly. Okay, now
- 10:21Speaker 1: we're getting closed. Now that's where I'm from.
- 10:23Speaker 4: It's not many people there, but that's where I'm from.
- 10:29Speaker 1: So I'm a wife.
- 10:30Speaker 4: We will be married fifteen years next month.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Yes, Glory to God.
- 10:36Speaker 4: We've been married fifteen years next month. And we have
- 10:40Speaker 4: two children. Christline is our oldest. She is just turned
- 10:44Speaker 4: thirteen and Keegan is ten. They're two weeks apart.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Okay to their birthdays are two weeks apart. Oh wow,
- 10:53Speaker 1: y'all be broke then, No, we know what happened. We know.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Don't tell us what you know. People be like, I
- 11:05Speaker 1: don't know how that happened.
- 11:06Speaker 4: She was like, well, if you lay down, you know
- 11:08Speaker 4: how it happened.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Okay, don't be saying multiplier. Yeah that's viable. The only
- 11:18Speaker 1: hunting is viable. Okay, So we're gonna talk about it here.
- 11:21Speaker 1: You did what you were supposed to do. Yes, all right,
- 11:24Speaker 1: I don't have it no more to You're not done?
- 11:28Speaker 1: Was that your goal to have to and be done? Well?
- 11:31Speaker 1: Here's the thing.
- 11:32Speaker 4: My husband is the youngest of thirteen, So two is it?
- 11:38Speaker 1: Because you know I'm done.
- 11:41Speaker 4: I'm done.
- 11:47Speaker 1: She was like, I see what's in your blood life?
- 11:50Speaker 1: I saw it.
- 11:51Speaker 3: He desired a big family because most people that come
- 11:53Speaker 3: from big families.
- 11:54Speaker 1: He did desire big family.
- 11:56Speaker 4: But you should no, man's like the way this is
- 12:01Speaker 4: set up?
- 12:02Speaker 1: What about your side of the family. How many brothers sister?
- 12:04Speaker 1: Did you ever?
- 12:04Speaker 4: I have two older sisters, so I'm the baby of three.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Girlsh So both of y'all are baby. So how did
- 12:09Speaker 1: that work out? It's still working. Yeah, talking about in
- 12:12Speaker 1: the beginning, girl, it's still it's it's oh, it's that's
- 12:16Speaker 1: what you meant. It's still because it was a okay, yeah,
- 12:19Speaker 1: I got because slow moment.
- 12:21Speaker 4: I'm just like, this ain't gonna work because we both
- 12:26Speaker 4: like strong will, which is a good thing. We're both
- 12:29Speaker 4: strong will, and we're both are like I want it
- 12:32Speaker 4: my way or it ain't no way. Yeah, And so
- 12:34Speaker 4: having to come together and being together we've been together
- 12:37Speaker 4: twenty years, we've only been married fifteen.
- 12:40Speaker 1: You know, it was a struggle. How did y'all meet.
- 12:44Speaker 4: A mutual friend, aure friend and sublusive.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, did y'all do the blind date thing? No? Oh, okay, No.
- 12:51Speaker 1: We met at a.
- 12:54Speaker 4: A conference actually that he was in the business for
- 12:57Speaker 4: Primerica at the time, and so his brother was doing
- 13:00Speaker 4: it and my our friend was doing it, and so
- 13:02Speaker 4: that's how we met. And he at the time he
- 13:04Speaker 4: thought I had a bunch of kids, because it was
- 13:10Speaker 4: a bunch of kids.
- 13:10Speaker 1: There and they were all just like gravitated to me. Oh,
- 13:13Speaker 1: so you've already always been like a motherly really.
- 13:18Speaker 4: But not enough to have anymore.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Let's make that clear her. So it did. So your
- 13:23Speaker 1: your journey to becoming a mother? How was that? Did
- 13:28Speaker 1: you struck? Because I know a lot of people deal
- 13:30Speaker 1: with fertility, is what is that? Fertility?
- 13:33Speaker 4: Yeah? Infertility. Yeah, I didn't deal with infertility. I did
- 13:37Speaker 4: deal with fibroad tumors.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Oh listen, yep, I don't know nothing about it, but
- 13:44Speaker 1: there's a ray yep. Yeah, I dealt with that.
- 13:48Speaker 4: And when we first started dating, it was the cycles
- 13:53Speaker 4: were so bad, like I was passing out because I
- 13:55Speaker 4: was losing so much blood.
- 13:57Speaker 1: And so.
- 13:59Speaker 4: A month, well about a month and a half into
- 14:01Speaker 4: us dating, he came to my apartment and I had
- 14:06Speaker 4: passed out and I don't know how long I had
- 14:09Speaker 4: been there passed out, but I had passed out because
- 14:12Speaker 4: I was losing so much blood.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And so that's that's kind of how the whole fertility
- 14:19Speaker 1: thing worked for me.
- 14:22Speaker 4: He took me to the emergency room and the doctors
- 14:24Speaker 4: was like, well, you need to have an emergency of hysterectomy.
- 14:28Speaker 4: I was twenty two. Wow, I was twenty two, and
- 14:32Speaker 4: I was like this, this is not this ain't what
- 14:35Speaker 4: the Lord got said up for me because he knew
- 14:36Speaker 4: I was wanted children.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Let me let me polish you right there, because some
- 14:40Speaker 1: people slow like me. And I'm just saying, so when
- 14:45Speaker 1: the hysterectomy, when they take the do the hystericty part,
- 14:49Speaker 1: that means that he was trying to prevent you from
- 14:51Speaker 1: having kids.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Yeah, it's taking my uters out. So I was able
- 14:55Speaker 4: to have children twenty years.
- 14:57Speaker 1: I did not know that, but it's okay. I I
- 15:00Speaker 1: was just trying to make sure I was in the
- 15:01Speaker 1: right side.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Typical mindset, and a lot of women deal with that.
- 15:04Speaker 4: A lot of women deal with the pcos, they deal
- 15:10Speaker 4: with that, they deal with the just the infertility all together.
- 15:14Speaker 4: And so I knew I wanted children, but I was
- 15:18Speaker 4: afraid at that point because I was just like, this
- 15:21Speaker 4: is not what I've been praying for. And of course
- 15:23Speaker 4: we weren't talking about marriage or children at that point,
- 15:26Speaker 4: but you know, him finding me like that and we
- 15:29Speaker 4: just started dating. I was like, this is gonna run
- 15:30Speaker 4: this man off. We're gonna be like, what is wrong
- 15:32Speaker 4: with this lady? You know, but it didn't like it.
- 15:35Speaker 4: It literally drew him closer to me.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Wow.
- 15:38Speaker 4: And so, you know, him having all those siblings I
- 15:41Speaker 4: think kind of helped, you know, you know, he knew
- 15:45Speaker 4: how to navigate, like he had sisters that you know,
- 15:48Speaker 4: dealt with cycles and things like that. So I think
- 15:50Speaker 4: that that helped a whole lot. And it's just I'm
- 15:53Speaker 4: telling you it was nothing but the grace of God
- 15:55Speaker 4: that because I could have died like right now if
- 15:57Speaker 4: he wouldn't have shown up.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Have you had any more scares that were similar
- 16:02Speaker 1: to that, dealing with the fibroids or anything, because I've
- 16:05Speaker 1: heard that women can have multiple encounters with that. They can.
- 16:11Speaker 4: So that was when I was twenty two, not anything
- 16:15Speaker 4: like passing out like that. When it got to the
- 16:18Speaker 4: point to where the doctor was like, you know, you
- 16:20Speaker 4: need to have an emergency his directive. And my mom
- 16:23Speaker 4: was there and she's like, she's twenty two, we need
- 16:25Speaker 4: a second opinion. She's like, we're not doing that.
- 16:28Speaker 1: This was in Tuscalusa. So we found me another.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Doctor here in Birmingham and she was like, you know,
- 16:33Speaker 4: you do have the fibroid tumors, and then that's where
- 16:35Speaker 4: the birth control came in, trying to control it, and
- 16:40Speaker 4: so then I end up just having to have surgery
- 16:43Speaker 4: to remove the fibroids. I had that surgery. She initially
- 16:49Speaker 4: thought I only had three fibroid tumors and small as
- 16:53Speaker 4: I am because at the time I was only one
- 16:55Speaker 4: hundred and six pounds, but I was always looking like
- 16:58Speaker 4: I was four months pregnant because of the tumors, like
- 17:01Speaker 4: they were that big. So she thought that it was
- 17:04Speaker 4: only three from the ultrasound when she got in there,
- 17:07Speaker 4: it was actually seven and they were like the size
- 17:10Speaker 4: of grapefruits. That's why I was looking pregnant. Like all
- 17:13Speaker 4: of the time, there's a.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Ray, you gotta go and bring stuff on the screen
- 17:17Speaker 1: because there's a raise story. It sound almost sounds simular
- 17:24Speaker 1: to that, and I just when I when I hear that.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I just get scared, Like I just the thought of
- 17:29Speaker 1: it just scares me as a one because I'm like, yeah,
- 17:33Speaker 1: how do you know? Like could you not know before?
- 17:35Speaker 1: Like can they not scream for stuff like that before? No,
- 17:38Speaker 1: you have to have So I've always had pretty pretty
- 17:41Speaker 1: heavy cycles, right, even starting out at a young age,
- 17:43Speaker 1: which is why they actually put me on birth control
- 17:45Speaker 1: was to kind of help regulate it a little bit.
- 17:47Speaker 1: But around probably twenty seventeen, I just started having a
- 17:51Speaker 1: different type of pain and so they scheduled you have
- 17:55Speaker 1: to have an ultrasound, okay, And I was like, oh, okay,
- 17:58Speaker 1: ultrasound like you think like you see on TV and
- 18:00Speaker 1: they put the little jelly stuff when you said it,
- 18:04Speaker 1: what is it? It's an internal ultra sound. So this
- 18:07Speaker 1: is long prob thing, you know, and they and they
- 18:10Speaker 1: go internal in your you in your vagina. Ye, it's
- 18:15Speaker 1: worse than like an annual. To me, it was.
- 18:19Speaker 3: It is because because they're they're progeing, they're looking, they're
- 18:21Speaker 3: moving it and oh.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going like all the where. I mean, it
- 18:26Speaker 1: feels like it's like right here. I mean I want
- 18:27Speaker 1: to feel like so you you know, you got your annual.
- 18:30Speaker 1: You know, you're preparing for those things. It wasn't prepared.
- 18:33Speaker 1: But in that in that evaluation, they discovered that I
- 18:37Speaker 1: had fibroid tumors as well. And so I kind of
- 18:40Speaker 1: went on this journey trying to you know, do change
- 18:42Speaker 1: all the things, the health things and stuff like that.
- 18:44Speaker 1: And probably around twenty twenty, so I was going like
- 18:48Speaker 1: every six months having an evaluation just to kind of
- 18:51Speaker 1: monitor them. And they were growing. So I had five
- 18:56Speaker 1: and kind of similar thing like, I decided to have
- 18:59Speaker 1: the the mile making me, which is the removal of
- 19:02Speaker 1: the fibroids, and she got in there and she actually ended.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Up removing eleven. Yeah, there was eleven.
- 19:08Speaker 1: And my situation went a little sideways because during recovery,
- 19:12Speaker 1: so it was like an overnight stay, but during recovery,
- 19:16Speaker 1: I ended up having internal bleeding. So I just remember
- 19:18Speaker 1: at some point that evening waking up and the room
- 19:21Speaker 1: was just full of people, you know, and they're talking
- 19:23Speaker 1: and they got the tilted the bed back and forth,
- 19:25Speaker 1: and then they began to like try to start new
- 19:28Speaker 1: ivs and I finally just stopped on the nurse. So
- 19:30Speaker 1: I'm laying there and I said, Hey, what's what's going on?
- 19:34Speaker 1: And he was trying to be so sweet and so calm,
- 19:35Speaker 1: and he was like, well, you know, you're you've lost
- 19:37Speaker 1: a lot of blood and we're just trying to get
- 19:39Speaker 1: your new IV started so we can get you some
- 19:41Speaker 1: fluid so you get the feeling better. And I'm like, oh, okay,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you know, not really understanding, right, And I ended up
- 19:47Speaker 1: long story short, I ended up having to go to
- 19:50Speaker 1: the ICU the pickline, so they had to They couldn't
- 19:54Speaker 1: get my veins, so they had to go with my
- 19:55Speaker 1: go on my neck, give me a pick line in
- 19:57Speaker 1: my neck, start blood. I had to go back into
- 20:00Speaker 1: surgery and so she could sew up all the holes
- 20:03Speaker 1: that she had pulled the five boys from. And so
- 20:06Speaker 1: three nights in the ICU, eight units of blood, four
- 20:09Speaker 1: bags of playlists and plasma, you know, and I'm grateful
- 20:12Speaker 1: that I'm here. But the thing was, you know, and
- 20:15Speaker 1: everybody's journey is different. I kind of knew I had
- 20:17Speaker 1: to understand and going in that it was a possibility
- 20:20Speaker 1: that they could come back, right, And so even so
- 20:24Speaker 1: it was probably about two so that maybe about the
- 20:26Speaker 1: end of twenty three, I started to experience some similar
- 20:29Speaker 1: symptoms and I went back and she was like, there
- 20:32Speaker 1: were a couple of little, small ones, you know, And
- 20:34Speaker 1: so my thought process has always been like, why is
- 20:37Speaker 1: this such an issue. It's a woman's issue, but it's
- 20:41Speaker 1: primarily a huge black woman's issue, you know what I'm saying.
- 20:45Speaker 1: And I'm like, I don't know why. I don't know
- 20:47Speaker 1: if it's like food, I don't know. All these things
- 20:49Speaker 1: could be factors, you know, but at the end of
- 20:51Speaker 1: the day, your health advocacy is very, very important. Because
- 20:56Speaker 1: I ended up switching doctors early on because the initial
- 20:58Speaker 1: obg Wyn that I went to it was a guy,
- 21:02Speaker 1: and for him, he was just like, oh, you know,
- 21:04Speaker 1: they're just fibroid tumors and you know, just take some talanol.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And I was like, you're just you're telling a you know.
- 21:10Speaker 1: At this time, I think I was maybe like my
- 21:12Speaker 1: late twenties something, your old woman that she has tumors
- 21:15Speaker 1: in her uterus, you know what I'm saying. And so
- 21:17Speaker 1: I end up switching my doctor who was you know,
- 21:19Speaker 1: she just kind of allowed me to explore some you know,
- 21:22Speaker 1: like the health things and stuff like that, but she
- 21:24Speaker 1: was like, you know, at the end of the day,
- 21:26Speaker 1: sometimes you know, those things work and sometimes they don't.
- 21:28Speaker 1: But but I'm here to support you whatever you want
- 21:31Speaker 1: to do. And you know, so I too, you know,
- 21:34Speaker 1: still have a desire to have children, and you know
- 21:37Speaker 1: that's still my prayer. Yes, thank you, thank you very much.
- 21:41Speaker 1: But you know, just sometimes you know, that just kind
- 21:43Speaker 1: of sits in the back of your in the back
- 21:44Speaker 1: of your head, you know. So I definitely understand the
- 21:46Speaker 1: German and I'm pretty sure there's so many women out
- 21:48Speaker 1: there who can also sympathize with your experience. Yeah, because
- 21:53Speaker 1: it's it's not.
- 21:57Speaker 4: It was scary.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it sounds like I'm I'm a graphic I'm a
- 22:01Speaker 1: visual person. So I'm over here like I had to face.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I saw my face on the camera and looking at
- 22:07Speaker 1: desert and like I ever heard this story phone, I'm
- 22:10Speaker 1: looking at like, yeah, it's like I don't want to
- 22:14Speaker 1: go through it. That's not I don't want that to
- 22:15Speaker 1: be my testimony. You get to say, no, Lord, I
- 22:20Speaker 1: don't get I don't want that to be my testimony.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I don't want the vibroid name. So, so at that point,
- 22:26Speaker 1: were you fearful that you weren't going to become a mother?
- 22:28Speaker 4: I did because that doctor, you know, speaking of switching doctors,
- 22:33Speaker 4: that doctors, you know, initially told me even though you're
- 22:36Speaker 4: twenty two, your your chances of having a children, having children,
- 22:40Speaker 4: you might as well count that out. And I was like, no,
- 22:43Speaker 4: that that ain't what I talked to the Lord about,
- 22:45Speaker 4: and that ain't what he done told me that I'm gonna.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Have to be able to do.
- 22:48Speaker 4: And so we found me a doctor here and at
- 22:51Speaker 4: Brookwood and she was just like, you know, you have
- 22:53Speaker 4: the tumors and we need to get them out. She
- 22:57Speaker 4: was like, because it's gonna just progress and get worse
- 22:59Speaker 4: if you don't. She's like, You're going to continue to
- 23:00Speaker 4: fall out. Things are going to progressively get worse if
- 23:04Speaker 4: you don't do this. And so I had that that
- 23:08Speaker 4: initial surgery. She went in and took those seven out,
- 23:12Speaker 4: and I was doing perfect up until I got pregnant
- 23:16Speaker 4: with my daughter in twenty eleven.
- 23:21Speaker 1: So twenty eleven, you get pregnant with your daughter, right,
- 23:24Speaker 1: all right? So between that time, were you like, okay, god, well,
- 23:28Speaker 1: you were good, like you weren't having any problem with
- 23:30Speaker 1: tumors or anything like that, and then boom you get pregnant.
- 23:33Speaker 1: When now worry y'all trying to get pregnant at that time.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Yet yeah, might as well say, you know what I mean.
- 23:44Speaker 4: So we got married in twenty ten and then yeah,
- 23:49Speaker 4: I mean I was pregnant a year later.
- 23:51Speaker 1: You know. Wow.
- 23:52Speaker 4: So but when she was born in twenty twelve, the
- 23:56Speaker 4: tumors were growing with her, like the fiberard tumors came.
- 24:00Speaker 1: So how so did you have to have a sea
- 24:02Speaker 1: section or had to have a sea section?
- 24:04Speaker 4: Because the thing is those fibroad tumors again, they make
- 24:08Speaker 4: you lose so much blood on your cycles that I
- 24:12Speaker 4: couldn't have had her vaginally because she was like, you know,
- 24:15Speaker 4: you can die on the table if I try to
- 24:16Speaker 4: let you push her out.
- 24:17Speaker 1: And that's another reason why it's important to have a
- 24:20Speaker 1: good doctor because they say that, and you say you
- 24:24Speaker 1: kneeled me when I say they say it because this
- 24:25Speaker 1: is the level of ignorance.
- 24:26Speaker 4: That I have.
- 24:27Speaker 1: But I'm aware that black women are women of color
- 24:31Speaker 1: in general, have a higher risk of death rate absolutely
- 24:35Speaker 1: birth in their child. And so thank god that that
- 24:38Speaker 1: was not your story, that was not my story.
- 24:41Speaker 4: And so you know, she's like, you're gonna have to
- 24:43Speaker 4: have a sea section, because of course, I think most
- 24:45Speaker 4: women want to have their children naturally or at least
- 24:48Speaker 4: try to. And so that was, you know, kind of
- 24:50Speaker 4: a good punch. But I was like, hey, if you
- 24:52Speaker 4: can get her here safely and keep me here safely,
- 24:55Speaker 4: do what you gotta do.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Yeah, And so.
- 24:58Speaker 4: They the tumors came back, and so I had to
- 25:02Speaker 4: have a c section with her, and of course my
- 25:05Speaker 4: doctor was like, you know, you don't need to have
- 25:06Speaker 4: any more children after her, because again, this may not
- 25:09Speaker 4: be a good thing for you, you know. And so
- 25:12Speaker 4: I end up getting pregnant with my son in twenty fifteen,
- 25:15Speaker 4: and the tumors were they they came back, and she
- 25:19Speaker 4: was not pleased with me. She was like, I thought,
- 25:21Speaker 4: I told you you don't need to get pregnant no more.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Because the tumors were growing as he was growing, so
- 25:26Speaker 4: they didn't want them to basically suffocate him in the.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Right Okay, okay, so that makes sense.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Yeah, because they can't do that. They can literally kill
- 25:37Speaker 4: the baby in the room.
- 25:38Speaker 1: But your son has lived a healthy life. Oh yeah,
- 25:41Speaker 1: he's perfectly fine. Is he in athletics.
- 25:44Speaker 4: He's in basketball. He's in basketball, and so he's doing amazing.
- 25:51Speaker 4: So after he was born, I had to have a
- 25:55Speaker 4: partial hysterectomy so when I say having children, that that
- 25:58Speaker 4: would be the reason why.
- 26:00Speaker 1: And then listen, that makes sense that hey, y'all need
- 26:02Speaker 1: to be glad to hear okays, didn't make it like
- 26:11Speaker 1: I would be. I would be given the death step
- 26:13Speaker 1: every day. Don't don't clean your room. You know what
- 26:16Speaker 1: if it wasn't for me, you know, I brought you here.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Time shake you out because you almost took me, all right,
- 26:25Speaker 1: but no, we got to get back to the point where. Okay,
- 26:27Speaker 1: so now it's you you suffered. Let's just call it
- 26:31Speaker 1: the spade of spade to have the kids that you have,
- 26:34Speaker 1: but particularly with crystalline, crystallin crystalline, yes, having crystalline and
- 26:41Speaker 1: you experiencing being a natural mother. Now now you're not
- 26:44Speaker 1: playing mama to nobody else kids like you are actual mother.
- 26:48Speaker 1: What was that? What was that journey like from the
- 26:51Speaker 1: time that you you birthed her to the time what
- 26:55Speaker 1: was that period like from the time you birthed her
- 26:57Speaker 1: to the time that you found out about the diagnosis
- 27:00Speaker 1: of cancer. It was amazing.
- 27:04Speaker 4: And I say that because man said that she wasn't
- 27:08Speaker 4: supposed to be here, and so for her to be
- 27:10Speaker 4: here and to be thriving and it's what three years
- 27:14Speaker 4: difference between her and Keegan. You know, we were living
- 27:17Speaker 4: our best little life, you know, we were it was
- 27:20Speaker 4: just me, her and my husband at the time. She
- 27:24Speaker 4: was the youngest of you know, my mom's grandkids, and
- 27:27Speaker 4: so of course she's spoiled, you know, so we just
- 27:29Speaker 4: we were just living our best little life. And you know,
- 27:34Speaker 4: public school time came around, so she got into public
- 27:37Speaker 4: school and she was doing fine up until third grade.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Third grade is when it literally felt like my life
- 27:45Speaker 4: just fell apart.
- 27:46Speaker 1: And how old was she?
- 27:48Speaker 4: She was seven?
- 27:49Speaker 1: She was seven son third grade around what time of
- 27:52Speaker 1: the year. This was March March, so it's springtime. So
- 27:58Speaker 1: she's exiting the third.
- 27:59Speaker 4: Grade, getting ready to exit the third grade.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, so what happened during that time?
- 28:07Speaker 4: So she was still in public school and they were
- 28:09Speaker 4: doing a math lesson and they were laying on the
- 28:12Speaker 4: floor doing something with the little blocks or whatever, and
- 28:16Speaker 4: a little girl stepped up on a step stool to
- 28:19Speaker 4: get water, and she stepped back down and she stepped
- 28:22Speaker 4: on crystal In's head. And it was a blessing that
- 28:28Speaker 4: she got stepped on.
- 28:29Speaker 1: You.
- 28:29Speaker 4: I was just telling somebody the other day it was
- 28:31Speaker 4: literally blessing that somebody kicked my daughter in the head,
- 28:34Speaker 4: because that's how we found out that she had a
- 28:36Speaker 4: brain tumor. That is literally how we found out. Her
- 28:41Speaker 4: teacher sent her to the nurse. Of course, the nurse
- 28:45Speaker 4: gave her ice pack center back to class. You know,
- 28:48Speaker 4: we never got a phone call that she had been
- 28:50Speaker 4: stepped on the head. That's another story. If actually I
- 28:55Speaker 4: didn't well in my brain, yeah, like I know, we
- 29:00Speaker 4: always have.
- 29:00Speaker 1: We might not go off like that, yeah, but we
- 29:04Speaker 1: always go off right here. Yeah. Yeah.
- 29:09Speaker 4: And my husband's like, you know, you okay. I'm like, no,
- 29:11Speaker 4: I'm not okay. But that's how we found out she
- 29:15Speaker 4: got stepped on And so I picked up her from
- 29:17Speaker 4: school because she was a car rider. I picked her
- 29:19Speaker 4: from school and uh, you know, gave her a snap
- 29:21Speaker 4: like I usually would, and I said, how was your day?
- 29:23Speaker 4: And she said, my head still hurts. And I said,
- 29:27Speaker 4: what do you mean it still hurts? And she was
- 29:28Speaker 4: like it was, it's been hurting since earlier. So she
- 29:31Speaker 4: never told me that she got stepped on the head
- 29:33Speaker 4: until a day later. And so that night that she
- 29:37Speaker 4: got stepped on the head, she just continued like she
- 29:40Speaker 4: woke up in a panic, just holding her head and
- 29:43Speaker 4: I told my husband, I said, something is not right.
- 29:45Speaker 4: And so the next morning I took her to a
- 29:49Speaker 4: stand in er in Pelham and they're like, you know,
- 29:53Speaker 4: she does have a concussion. And I was like okay,
- 29:56Speaker 4: and then she stepped on her head like that. Yeah,
- 29:58Speaker 4: that's not like a jump like you think about little kid.
- 30:02Speaker 4: These are little kids. And I don't know, you know,
- 30:06Speaker 4: she stepped more than once. I don't know, Like you said,
- 30:08Speaker 4: I don't know if she jumped down on it.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 30:11Speaker 4: I still do not have the full story of literally
- 30:13Speaker 4: what happened. All I know she was stepped on the head,
- 30:16Speaker 4: and so I took her to that stand in the
- 30:18Speaker 4: r and then the second night she did the same thing,
- 30:22Speaker 4: just screaming in pain, and I say, we need to
- 30:25Speaker 4: take her to Children's and I took her and the
- 30:28Speaker 4: doctor's like, she does have a concussion, but she also
- 30:31Speaker 4: has a brain tumor. Wow. He said it just like that,
- 30:35Speaker 4: like it was an everyday practice. And I was like, okay,
- 30:39Speaker 4: so what do we need to do. I was like,
- 30:40Speaker 4: what do you mean? And he was like, she has
- 30:42Speaker 4: a brain tumor and she's probably had it since birth.
- 30:47Speaker 1: So okay, wait, so yeah all of it. Did she
- 30:53Speaker 1: experience like headaches or anything like, was it like hindsight
- 30:57Speaker 1: looking at it hindsight.
- 30:58Speaker 4: She had one seizure, but at the time she had
- 31:01Speaker 4: a fever with the seizure, so her pediatrician said it
- 31:04Speaker 4: was probably a feeble seizure. That that was the only
- 31:07Speaker 4: indication that we ever had. So to say that she
- 31:11Speaker 4: was literally kept by the Lord because it's no telling
- 31:14Speaker 4: what was really going on, and we just never knew.
- 31:17Speaker 4: We never had any other indications that anything was happening
- 31:20Speaker 4: with her. She was living her best little life in
- 31:22Speaker 4: school every day, hated to miss school.
- 31:25Speaker 1: So and that's was she able to like interact with
- 31:28Speaker 1: the different kids, like the activities they have, like I
- 31:30Speaker 1: know they have like plate would not play dates, the
- 31:34Speaker 1: stuff outside, you know, pe and that she has had
- 31:39Speaker 1: no issue until she got stepped on, no issues.
- 31:42Speaker 4: So and you know, I've always asked them, you know,
- 31:45Speaker 4: could that kit could have activated? And he was like,
- 31:47Speaker 4: that's not possible. And I'm just like, well to me
- 31:51Speaker 4: that that seems reasonable to me because otherwise nothing else
- 31:54Speaker 4: had happened. But that's how we found out. This was
- 31:57Speaker 4: twenty nineteen.
- 31:59Speaker 1: So did they Okay, so let's move forward with the Okay,
- 32:02Speaker 1: now we know that she has this brain tumor take
- 32:08Speaker 1: me to that day. Where where are the bowmens? Where
- 32:12Speaker 1: are you in your mind? I was lost.
- 32:16Speaker 4: I called my mama, screaming and crying. I called my
- 32:18Speaker 4: sisters and I was just like, what happens at this point?
- 32:23Speaker 4: And he was like, you know, it's the size of
- 32:25Speaker 4: a lemon.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Was the size of it.
- 32:27Speaker 4: And it was right behind her right eye. And I said, well,
- 32:32Speaker 4: you know, do we need to remove this? Like what
- 32:34Speaker 4: do we need to do at this point? And he
- 32:35Speaker 4: was like, well, there's really nothing that we need to
- 32:37Speaker 4: do right now because it's not affecting her. He said,
- 32:39Speaker 4: if she wouldn't have got stepped on the head, we
- 32:41Speaker 4: never would have known it was there. So if it's
- 32:43Speaker 4: not bothering her, we're not going to touch it because
- 32:45Speaker 4: the place where it was located, it could have messed
- 32:48Speaker 4: with her literally physically. He's like, she may not have
- 32:51Speaker 4: inequality of life if we go in and touch anything.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Because of what they had to do.
- 32:56Speaker 4: And so from twenty nineteen and of course, we you know,
- 33:00Speaker 4: started seeing the neurologies at Children's and he was like,
- 33:04Speaker 4: you know this is where it's placed, but we don't
- 33:05Speaker 4: need to touch it. So we watched it from twenty
- 33:08Speaker 4: nineteen to twenty twenty two, and it grew from a
- 33:13Speaker 4: lemon to a grapefruit in two years.
- 33:20Speaker 1: So I need I think, I just need cleary. Okay.
- 33:23Speaker 1: So when you say y'all watched it, what's the process
- 33:26Speaker 1: of watching it?
- 33:28Speaker 4: Doing MRIs every six months just to make sure that
- 33:31Speaker 4: it wasn't growing. And from nineteen till twenty one, well,
- 33:37Speaker 4: the beginning of twenty two, it had not grown, so
- 33:39Speaker 4: it had flowed. From the end of twenty one up
- 33:42Speaker 4: until March of twenty twenty two is when it just
- 33:46Speaker 4: like literally seemed like it grew overnight because that was
- 33:52Speaker 4: a timeframe. We read our six months appointments and it's
- 33:55Speaker 4: just like it just grew out of nowhere.
- 33:58Speaker 1: So at that point was showing it because and I
- 34:02Speaker 1: know you own alert at this point, like like if
- 34:04Speaker 1: it's a headache, if she sneezed too hard, like you're
- 34:07Speaker 1: right there, like so it what she's showing any signs
- 34:11Speaker 1: from that gap, It was.
- 34:13Speaker 4: My grains here and there, but it wasn't anything like
- 34:16Speaker 4: one or two times it would be to where she
- 34:19Speaker 4: couldn't even get out of bed because of the migrains,
- 34:20Speaker 4: and of course we had to call the doctor. He
- 34:22Speaker 4: brought us in to do emergency MRIs with contrasts and
- 34:26Speaker 4: all of that. But still at those times, it was
- 34:28Speaker 4: not growing. It had not grown from the limit to
- 34:32Speaker 4: the grapefruit that we had saw, like within six months,
- 34:35Speaker 4: it had not grown that much.
- 34:36Speaker 1: So during this during this period, like I really, I
- 34:39Speaker 1: really want to get into your mind right, like where
- 34:42Speaker 1: is your your mind as a mother? Like, okay, I
- 34:45Speaker 1: done have these fibroids. They said, I was supposed to
- 34:48Speaker 1: have a gun, but now I got her, and now
- 34:50Speaker 1: you're telling me that it's a tumor on her brain
- 34:53Speaker 1: and they trying to act like it's nothing, but I
- 34:54Speaker 1: know it's something like the brain is definitely got what
- 34:57Speaker 1: you're doing that.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Those were MYS words, like what we're doing right now?
- 35:01Speaker 4: And I know that we're not supposed to question God,
- 35:03Speaker 4: but I was like I asked the Lord. I'm like, hey,
- 35:06Speaker 4: what I know that I'm not gonna be able to
- 35:10Speaker 4: see what you're doing, but I need some answers because
- 35:13Speaker 4: what am I supposed to do?
- 35:14Speaker 1: That?
- 35:15Speaker 4: Am I just supposed to take their word and not
- 35:17Speaker 4: you know, not get a second opinion. Am I supposed
- 35:20Speaker 4: to just sit back and just to me, it felt
- 35:24Speaker 4: like she was deteriorating, but I knew that she wasn't
- 35:26Speaker 4: because she was still living her best of life. Nothing
- 35:29Speaker 4: was bothering her besides the headache here and there, and
- 35:32Speaker 4: we just kept on with life. We kept doing our
- 35:34Speaker 4: appointments every six months, and that was it. But in
- 35:38Speaker 4: my mind, I was like, okay, is my child. Am
- 35:42Speaker 4: I gonna go walk into her room and she's not
- 35:45Speaker 4: there anymore?
- 35:46Speaker 1: You know?
- 35:47Speaker 4: Am I going to.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I just didn't know.
- 35:52Speaker 4: I was fearful, you know, being totally transparent, I was
- 35:55Speaker 4: completely fearful because you just don't know, and you never
- 35:59Speaker 4: know what can trigger the next thing. You know, what
- 36:02Speaker 4: can what can this lead to? You know? And so
- 36:06Speaker 4: that's that's where we were up until March of twenty
- 36:09Speaker 4: twenty two, when the neurologists called and he was like, hey,
- 36:13Speaker 4: we got to move. He's like, we got to move
- 36:16Speaker 4: fast because the tumor has grown and if it continues
- 36:20Speaker 4: to grow, it's going to take her eyesight because it
- 36:23Speaker 4: was sitting behind the right eye and I mean, you know,
- 36:27Speaker 4: she needed glasses. But you know, we didn't know of
- 36:29Speaker 4: anything other than that because nothing else was bothering her, right,
- 36:33Speaker 4: And so that was March. That was marcha twenty that
- 36:38Speaker 4: was still it children. Yeah, that was March of twenty two.
- 36:41Speaker 4: And so of course we had to get the surgery
- 36:44Speaker 4: scheduled and all of that, and then she had surgery
- 36:47Speaker 4: in June June sixteenth of twenty twenty two, and they
- 36:51Speaker 4: went in and removed the tumor and was that.
- 36:53Speaker 1: That obviously was like a successful It was successful.
- 36:57Speaker 4: The type of tumor she has is called ganga gleamioma.
- 37:02Speaker 4: And if you're not in the space of your child
- 37:05Speaker 4: having a brain tumor, you will not know that. There
- 37:07Speaker 4: are over two thousand types of brain tumors.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah, so it's more children with possibly with
- 37:14Speaker 1: tumors than that. Don't know that don't know.
- 37:18Speaker 4: So when I say when I tell people, you know,
- 37:20Speaker 4: if your child's complaining of a headache, listen to them.
- 37:24Speaker 4: Don't just give them child knowlling motion and just rotated.
- 37:26Speaker 4: You need to see because a lot of the times
- 37:29Speaker 4: the doctors will not even just willingly do an mril
- 37:33Speaker 4: on a child or an adult for that matter. They
- 37:36Speaker 4: just there's just not something that they do. You have
- 37:38Speaker 4: to request those things, and most of the times you
- 37:40Speaker 4: have to be adamant about Okay, I need you to
- 37:44Speaker 4: do this, and if you can't find one doctor to
- 37:46Speaker 4: do it, you need to find somebody else because this
- 37:48Speaker 4: maybe could have been prevented, you know, for somebody else.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you know.
- 37:52Speaker 4: So I tell people all the time, do listen to
- 37:55Speaker 4: your children. They're telling you something for a reason. Now,
- 37:57Speaker 4: you know, if your child acting and don't want to
- 37:59Speaker 4: go to school or whatever case is. But listen to them.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Pay attention to their mannerisms, pay attention to what if
- 38:06Speaker 4: they're sleeping a whole lot more than what they used to. Yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 4: it's different things like that that you have to watch
- 38:11Speaker 4: because it could be there and you just never know.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Yeah, you just never know that. So repeat.
- 38:16Speaker 4: The type of tumor is called ganga glemioma.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Ganga glemioma. All right, So with that tumor, did the
- 38:23Speaker 1: doctor say that it came from a specific thing or
- 38:26Speaker 1: how would it develop? Here's the thing.
- 38:28Speaker 4: They don't know. They don't know about any of these tumors,
- 38:31Speaker 4: the brain tumors. They don't know why they're there, how
- 38:34Speaker 4: they're there. You know, a lot of people contributed to it.
- 38:37Speaker 4: May be in the foods, it may be too much
- 38:39Speaker 4: sugar that they're eating. We don't know. Nobody really knows,
- 38:44Speaker 4: and so you know, us being at Saint Jude is
- 38:46Speaker 4: why they're trying to figure it out, you know, like
- 38:52Speaker 4: the trials and stuff like that. So they're doing a
- 38:53Speaker 4: whole lot of research trying to figure out why these
- 38:57Speaker 4: why there are so many children that has brain tumors.
- 39:00Speaker 1: I'm so glad you brought Saint Jude up because Saint
- 39:02Speaker 1: Jude is a very well known I don't want to
- 39:05Speaker 1: say popular, because I mean that popularity can sound, but
- 39:09Speaker 1: they're very well known for doing some intensive work for kids,
- 39:13Speaker 1: and they're accing for different donations and when I'm getting
- 39:16Speaker 1: chilled right now and I don't want to cry, but
- 39:18Speaker 1: they are really I've heard so many good things about
- 39:22Speaker 1: Saint June. So can you tell me how you went
- 39:25Speaker 1: from Children's to Saint Jude and why did you need
- 39:28Speaker 1: that trend? Or she needed that transition?
- 39:30Speaker 4: So December of twenty three, So from her surgery in
- 39:33Speaker 4: twenty two up until twenty four, perfectly fine, no issues,
- 39:37Speaker 4: living our best little life. Still, So December twenty three,
- 39:40Speaker 4: she woke up just out of the blue, and she said,
- 39:43Speaker 4: my back is hurting. And I was like, okay, and
- 39:47Speaker 4: I tried not to show her that I was worried, right,
- 39:51Speaker 4: And so December twenty three up until June of last year,
- 39:57Speaker 4: it got to the point to where she could not
- 39:59Speaker 4: even walk. And they were supposed to be doing scans
- 40:07Speaker 4: at Children's every three months after her surgery, they were
- 40:11Speaker 4: only doing them every six And I didn't find this
- 40:13Speaker 4: out until after the fact. But different story. And so
- 40:18Speaker 4: June of last year, you know, they were sending us
- 40:21Speaker 4: to physical therapy, they had put her on pain medications,
- 40:24Speaker 4: heat and pass it's all the things. Will come to
- 40:27Speaker 4: find out her brain had started leaking fluid.
- 40:31Speaker 1: From the side of where she had the surgery on.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Well, we really don't know. We really don't know, because
- 40:37Speaker 4: what happened was June of last year. We were at
- 40:40Speaker 4: an event in Cholera and she said, Mama, I feel
- 40:42Speaker 4: like I'm about to pass out. Of course, I didn't overreact,
- 40:46Speaker 4: but I took her on to Children's and the ophtalmologists
- 40:49Speaker 4: came in, you know, just looking at her eyes or whatever.
- 40:52Speaker 4: And he came back in and he said it's bold.
- 40:54Speaker 4: Her brain is full of fluid. And I was like,
- 40:58Speaker 4: what do you mean. I was like, we just had
- 41:00Speaker 4: an appointment, not even two months ago, and he was like,
- 41:03Speaker 4: her brain is full of fluid. He's like, I need
- 41:05Speaker 4: to get your doctor. He went and got the doctor.
- 41:08Speaker 4: He came in with three other people and I was like,
- 41:12Speaker 4: what is going on right now? And he was like,
- 41:14Speaker 4: we need to take her into Emergesy's surgery and I
- 41:16Speaker 4: was like, for what he said, if you wouldn't not
- 41:20Speaker 4: have brought her in tonight, she would she could have
- 41:23Speaker 4: fallen asleep and not woken up tomorrow morning because of
- 41:26Speaker 4: all the fluid on her brain. And I said, well,
- 41:30Speaker 4: what needs to happen? He said, we need to go
- 41:32Speaker 4: in within the next hour and a half, drain this
- 41:35Speaker 4: fluid off of her brain and put a shun in.
- 41:38Speaker 4: So basically what that is they go back into the
- 41:40Speaker 4: spot where they did their initial surgery in place A
- 41:44Speaker 4: two which runs from the top of her head down
- 41:47Speaker 4: behind the ear, and it filters out through her stomach
- 41:52Speaker 4: and she, according to them, she'll have that the rest
- 41:55Speaker 4: of her life because her brain, her body does not
- 41:58Speaker 4: flush out the fluid like I was does. It collects
- 42:01Speaker 4: in her brain and so that can cause her to
- 42:04Speaker 4: lose her vision or cause her to you know, she
- 42:09Speaker 4: could she could die from it.
- 42:11Speaker 1: And so that was last year and so that then they.
- 42:16Speaker 4: We spent seven days at Children's after this, and so
- 42:19Speaker 4: on the sixth day, her neurologist came in and he said,
- 42:24Speaker 4: I have good news and bad news. He said, the
- 42:26Speaker 4: bad news is no, he said, which one do you
- 42:28Speaker 4: want first? And Chrislyn said, I want the good news
- 42:30Speaker 4: because I'm hungry, So which one? And so she was like,
- 42:36Speaker 4: come on, and so he was like, well, the bad
- 42:38Speaker 4: news is you know, he said, the good news is,
- 42:42Speaker 4: you know, we got the shunt place. You know, all
- 42:45Speaker 4: of that is looking good, he said, But the bad
- 42:47Speaker 4: news is is that your tumors have come back and
- 42:51Speaker 4: they have spread. So the type of tumor that she has,
- 42:57Speaker 4: it is not supposed to come back and it's not
- 42:58Speaker 4: supposed to spread her is there?
- 43:01Speaker 1: Right?
- 43:01Speaker 4: The opposite? And so she initially started out, so did
- 43:04Speaker 4: they miss that?
- 43:05Speaker 1: I'm sorry? So did they misdiagnosed the original tumor or?
- 43:09Speaker 1: But so so the tumors that redeveloped were still the.
- 43:13Speaker 4: Gang of GLEMI on the oh wow, okay, yeah, and
- 43:16Speaker 4: I thought that they had missed didnosed too, until we
- 43:18Speaker 4: got to Saint Jude and it's like, no, this is
- 43:20Speaker 4: this is what she has. It's just it's just the
- 43:23Speaker 4: rare case that they come back. So she only had
- 43:26Speaker 4: one initially, and when they come back, it was literally half.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Of her brain. Wait hold up, you said you looking
- 43:36Speaker 1: it up, desiree. Oh so at first the first tumor
- 43:43Speaker 1: was just big enough to like it was the lemon,
- 43:45Speaker 1: then the grapefruit, and now we go from draining the
- 43:49Speaker 1: fluid and sat Saint Jude tells you that it's half
- 43:52Speaker 1: of her brain. So did children Children's told.
- 43:55Speaker 4: Me initially that it was half of her brain. This
- 43:57Speaker 4: was when we were still at Children's and that seven
- 43:59Speaker 4: days stay. He on that sixth day he came in
- 44:02Speaker 4: and he and he showed us the pictures. He was like,
- 44:04Speaker 4: it has literally taken over her brain. So that is
- 44:07Speaker 4: all of that white.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Is is the tumor. I don't know if y'all, I
- 44:14Speaker 1: don't know if they can see this. Yeah right here,
- 44:18Speaker 1: uh the light, but the white part was her brain.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 44:23Speaker 4: Well the bigger, the bigger picture is her brain and
- 44:26Speaker 4: all of the white is the cancer. Mh yeah, So
- 44:32Speaker 4: that was June, and so we saw neurologist, the oncologists,
- 44:38Speaker 4: all those people at Children's and you know, of course
- 44:42Speaker 4: their thing was, you know, we need to play support,
- 44:44Speaker 4: we need to get chemo started as soon as possible.
- 44:47Speaker 4: And I wasn't comfortable with that because you know, they
- 44:50Speaker 4: started asking us about freezing her eggs because you know,
- 44:53Speaker 4: chemo messages with your fertility and all.
- 44:55Speaker 1: How old was she at this time? I'm sorry, how
- 44:57Speaker 1: old was she? She was?
- 45:00Speaker 4: What's this year? Eleven?
- 45:01Speaker 1: Eleven? Okay, yeah, so they start talking about freezing her eggs. Okay,
- 45:06Speaker 1: let me just talk about how the enemy works, like,
- 45:08Speaker 1: because I'm looking at this from a spiritual point too,
- 45:12Speaker 1: so the same thing or the same idea, because well
- 45:15Speaker 1: we'll say, oh, the enemy didn't come with me this
- 45:17Speaker 1: way or no, it got some different coloring, but the
- 45:21Speaker 1: same foundation, right. So the enemy is trying to come
- 45:24Speaker 1: for you and your motherhood and then now your daughter.
- 45:27Speaker 1: So the legacy that you uphold, you must be a
- 45:33Speaker 1: dangerous woman trying to you must be That's all I
- 45:37Speaker 1: can think. Yeah, because the literally it's like, I'm finna
- 45:39Speaker 1: mess with these eggs. I'm feeling I'm trying to I'm
- 45:41Speaker 1: trying to mess with these eggs. I'm trying to trying
- 45:44Speaker 1: to disrupt the legacy of this family. Wow, okay, so
- 45:48Speaker 1: their children's telling you that they want to freeze eggs
- 45:51Speaker 1: and you like, nah, fam, what we're not doing that.
- 45:53Speaker 1: We're not doing that. So is that when you made
- 45:55Speaker 1: the decision. I'm trying to figure out what was the
- 45:57Speaker 1: decision that made you go to Saint juecause it ain't
- 45:59Speaker 1: say you like Tennessee is all the life? Yeah, I asked.
- 46:02Speaker 4: I asked Children's because what they wanted to do was
- 46:05Speaker 4: play support here and she would go in once a
- 46:08Speaker 4: week to Children's and have chemo and that would be.
- 46:10Speaker 4: That would have been for twenty four weeks. And I
- 46:13Speaker 4: you know when they initially said it, and I said, well,
- 46:16Speaker 4: when once she placed the port, how long after that
- 46:19Speaker 4: are you going to start chemo? He said within an hour.
- 46:22Speaker 4: I said absolutely not. I said, you're not doing that.
- 46:25Speaker 4: And so we asked for a second opinion from Children's
- 46:29Speaker 4: and the oncologists came out and blatantly told us. He
- 46:32Speaker 4: was like, they're going to give you the same answer
- 46:34Speaker 4: that I'm going to give you. I said, well, I'm
- 46:36Speaker 4: going I want them to tell me no, and he
- 46:40Speaker 4: was like okay. He was like, but there's no there
- 46:43Speaker 4: is no money in childhood cancer research.
- 46:46Speaker 1: And I think that college collegist told you that there's
- 46:50Speaker 1: no money in childhood.
- 46:52Speaker 4: Research and he's right in that, but it was just
- 46:53Speaker 4: your delivery in it, right, Yeah, And so I think
- 46:57Speaker 4: that's what pushed me over the edge. I was like,
- 46:59Speaker 4: I'm with you, oh wow. And so when I asked
- 47:03Speaker 4: them for the second opinion and they would not refer me,
- 47:07Speaker 4: there's power in social media. I reached out to some
- 47:11Speaker 4: people on social media and I was like, I need
- 47:14Speaker 4: to we need some second opinions. And if you know
- 47:18Speaker 4: anything about Saint.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Jude, you have to be referred. I didn't know that
- 47:22Speaker 1: you have to be referred.
- 47:24Speaker 4: You know, it can be by another family, but they're
- 47:26Speaker 4: gonna take you probably quicker, I would say if it
- 47:29Speaker 4: came from a doctor. And so with him not referring us,
- 47:34Speaker 4: I reached out myself and I.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Email.
- 47:40Speaker 4: I emailed Saint Jude.
- 47:42Speaker 1: And I know that.
- 47:47Speaker 4: Everything that has happened up until this point it was
- 47:51Speaker 4: God connecting the dots, literally every last one of them.
- 47:55Speaker 4: And I say that because I reached out to this man.
- 47:58Speaker 4: On a Friday. The doctor is ain't you? He called
- 48:01Speaker 4: me that that Sunday and you you don't hear from
- 48:06Speaker 4: this called you? He called on Sunday.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Wow, I was asleep.
- 48:12Speaker 4: I missed his call. I called him back. He was
- 48:15Speaker 4: on the phone with another family and so then he
- 48:17Speaker 4: ended up calling me back and he was like hey,
- 48:19Speaker 4: miss Bowman and I was like his name is doctor Clemo.
- 48:23Speaker 4: And I was like hi, doctor Clemo. And I was
- 48:25Speaker 4: telling him and I was sleeping. He was like, you
- 48:26Speaker 4: deserve the rest.
- 48:28Speaker 1: And I was like, who is this fam? So, first
- 48:30Speaker 1: of all, because the energy is different, me and Desilray
- 48:33Speaker 1: was just talking about customer service. Customer service is needed everywhere,
- 48:38Speaker 1: like everywhere. So now you're probably getting the language that
- 48:41Speaker 1: you've been wont for a while. Wow.
- 48:43Speaker 4: It was literally when he said you need rest, I
- 48:47Speaker 4: was like, Okay, where this man come from?
- 48:52Speaker 1: And from that conversation.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Up until now he texts, he call. He was like,
- 49:03Speaker 4: you'll hear from So when I talked to him on
- 49:04Speaker 4: that Sunday and I told him what was happening, and
- 49:06Speaker 4: I was like, you know, they're wanting to start chemo
- 49:09Speaker 4: on her next week.
- 49:10Speaker 1: He was like, no, do not do that.
- 49:12Speaker 4: He was like, if you reached out to me, I'm
- 49:13Speaker 4: gonna help you. He said, if you will allow us
- 49:15Speaker 4: to help her, I'm going to help you.
- 49:17Speaker 1: He said.
- 49:18Speaker 4: There are so many other trial drugs out there that
- 49:21Speaker 4: she qualifies for. He was like, if you're willing to
- 49:23Speaker 4: let us help, will help her. I said please. And
- 49:27Speaker 4: so he was like, all right, give my nurse into
- 49:28Speaker 4: Wednesday and she'll call you. She called me on Tuesday
- 49:31Speaker 4: and you know, just getting all the paperwork, and she said,
- 49:36Speaker 4: can you all be here in the next week and
- 49:38Speaker 4: a half.
- 49:40Speaker 1: I was like, yes, ma'am.
- 49:43Speaker 4: And she was like, I know that it. You know,
- 49:45Speaker 4: I know everything's moving fast.
- 49:46Speaker 1: I know.
- 49:47Speaker 4: She was like, but we need to get her here,
- 49:50Speaker 4: and I.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Was like okay. And so in that process, did they
- 49:53Speaker 1: have to request like records and stuff from you everything?
- 49:56Speaker 4: Okay, I could have gotten her records, but you know
- 49:59Speaker 4: they have I have a team of people that get
- 50:02Speaker 4: all the records and all that. Once I told him,
- 50:04Speaker 4: I gave him to go ahead, I stepped back. I
- 50:06Speaker 4: didn't have to do anything but show up in Memphis
- 50:08Speaker 4: a week and a half later.
- 50:10Speaker 1: That was it.
- 50:11Speaker 4: And you know, you speak about donations, A lot of
- 50:13Speaker 4: people don't realize Saint Jude runs strictly off of donations everything,
- 50:20Speaker 4: and a lot of people only think, like from the commercials,
- 50:23Speaker 4: that we only don't have to pay for medical bills. No,
- 50:26Speaker 4: we never receive a medical bill. But they also provide
- 50:29Speaker 4: housing free of charge. They reimburse you for travel. You
- 50:34Speaker 4: don't have to pay for food the entire time that
- 50:36Speaker 4: you're there.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? I did not desierate. Did you
- 50:40Speaker 1: notice not that? Not the like the the expenses and things. Yeah,
- 50:45Speaker 1: I didn't know the expenses. I knew the medical part.
- 50:47Speaker 4: You don't pay for. So their their thing is we
- 50:50Speaker 4: only want you to help your child get better, and
- 50:53Speaker 4: that has been it. So when people say, oh, y'all
- 50:57Speaker 4: go to Saint Jude, I'm like, yeah, but it's so much.
- 50:59Speaker 1: More to that commerce.
- 51:00Speaker 4: Sure, then you see, I promise you we don't have
- 51:02Speaker 4: to pay for absolutely nothing. Regardless of how you travel
- 51:07Speaker 4: to get there, which we drive because it's only four hours.
- 51:10Speaker 4: They reimburse you for gas. If we had to fly,
- 51:13Speaker 4: they would reimburse us for that. Regardless of how you
- 51:17Speaker 4: come in, they reimburse you for everything.
- 51:21Speaker 1: And they treat and they treat you better than the
- 51:23Speaker 1: folks that you act. Now, that's that's and it's not
- 51:28Speaker 1: it's not dogging because I really think I've heard some
- 51:30Speaker 1: success stories from children's right, I've heard success stories from U. A. B.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Bookwood or whatever. It's some success stories. But when you
- 51:37Speaker 1: specialize in something like cancer, right, it's the specialization, the
- 51:40Speaker 1: center around specialization. When you're doing that and you're having
- 51:44Speaker 1: success stories and you're serving, that's a serve. That's a
- 51:48Speaker 1: servant's mindset. Say.
- 51:50Speaker 4: And and the thing is he doctor Klimo is her
- 51:55Speaker 4: neurologists at Saint Jude. I talked to that man one time.
- 52:00Speaker 4: That was that Sunday. So when we made it to
- 52:03Speaker 4: Memphis in August of last year, the fourteenth is when
- 52:06Speaker 4: we had to arrive, I still had not seen him.
- 52:12Speaker 4: I wouldn't have known who he was. If I wouldn't
- 52:14Speaker 4: have googled him, I wouldn't have known anything about this man.
- 52:17Speaker 4: We were standing outside of the cafeteria one day talking
- 52:21Speaker 4: to another family and he walked by and I said, hey,
- 52:25Speaker 4: doctor Clemo, and he was like hey Crystal, and I
- 52:29Speaker 4: was like, wait a minute, wait, hold up.
- 52:32Speaker 1: So you don't know him, so that means he researched
- 52:36Speaker 1: you yeah.
- 52:38Speaker 4: Yes. So when I say the Lord connected every single
- 52:42Speaker 4: dot that needed to be connected in a straight.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Line, I'm telling you.
- 52:47Speaker 4: And that man gave me and Crystlin the biggest hug
- 52:51Speaker 4: like he had been known us forever. And I had
- 52:54Speaker 4: never met this man, never met him, talked to him
- 52:59Speaker 4: one time. And so it's the customer service. He has
- 53:07Speaker 4: the best bedside manners that I've ever seen in my life,
- 53:12Speaker 4: ever seen in my life. And I tell him all
- 53:15Speaker 4: the time, I appreciate you for listening to God because
- 53:19Speaker 4: you are in the position of giving my child a
- 53:24Speaker 4: second chance at life. And he was like, I'm just serving.
- 53:28Speaker 4: Those are his asad words.
- 53:30Speaker 1: And how so how long had do you know how
- 53:32Speaker 1: long he been in medicine or doing being in Saint
- 53:34Speaker 1: Jude at.
- 53:35Speaker 4: Least I don't know. I know he's he's been there
- 53:38Speaker 4: at least over ten years because there's a Facebook page
- 53:41Speaker 4: that we have for only for saying Jude families. And
- 53:44Speaker 4: so the research that I was talking about that I
- 53:46Speaker 4: went on Facebook. Every time you know, I was looking
- 53:51Speaker 4: up something, his name was only name popping up. You
- 53:53Speaker 4: know you need to you know, you need to reach
- 53:55Speaker 4: out to doctor Climo. He's a god saying that's all
- 53:57Speaker 4: I kept hearing, and even up until this day, just yesterday,
- 54:01Speaker 4: I had to refer a family from Birmingham to him.
- 54:04Speaker 4: And he's the type of person. When we were there
- 54:07Speaker 4: from August August fourteenth until September twentieth, because we had
- 54:11Speaker 4: to stay that length of time, he was calling, he
- 54:15Speaker 4: was like, hey, y'all good, you need anything? He was texting,
- 54:18Speaker 4: he was calling, he was like, how did you know
- 54:19Speaker 4: how the clinic go today? How did your MRIs go today?
- 54:23Speaker 4: And it's not just us. He is like that with
- 54:25Speaker 4: every one of his patients. So to have that amount
- 54:28Speaker 4: of time and still performing surgeries on people, he has
- 54:32Speaker 4: done surgeris on people that other doctors have said it
- 54:36Speaker 4: is not possible, you don't need to try to do this,
- 54:39Speaker 4: He's like, yeah, I can do that, and he's been
- 54:42Speaker 4: very successful at it. And so that's how we ended
- 54:47Speaker 4: up at Saint Jude. We were there for about a
- 54:50Speaker 4: right a little over a month because once they started
- 54:53Speaker 4: her on the chemo, they had to make sure, you know,
- 54:55Speaker 4: she didn't have any reactions to it or anything like that.
- 55:00Speaker 4: So the commercials do not do that place justice.
- 55:05Speaker 1: No, thank you for making us aware of that because
- 55:07Speaker 1: that's there's some of these commercials. I mean, yeah, so,
- 55:12Speaker 1: but I've never necessarily questioned Saint Jude, but I didn't
- 55:15Speaker 1: know the extents of how they served the family.
- 55:18Speaker 4: So, and they even have a school. They have an
- 55:21Speaker 4: entire school. Like when Crystine was up there, yeah, she
- 55:23Speaker 4: was still you know, getting her school work done.
- 55:26Speaker 1: They have an entire school. They have a salon for
- 55:32Speaker 1: the for the kids.
- 55:33Speaker 4: Yet their nails done, hair done, and the entire place
- 55:37Speaker 4: is ran off of donations.
- 55:40Speaker 1: So that was twenty twenty two. No, this was last year.
- 55:45Speaker 1: Last year. Okay, so twenty twenty four. Now we're in
- 55:48Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. Where's Crystalline. Now?
- 55:51Speaker 4: That girl thriving and she she is thriving.
- 55:56Speaker 1: She is, she said the testimon only that was at Thereek.
- 56:01Speaker 1: That's what I'm trying to I'm trying to get you
- 56:02Speaker 1: to get that answer. Look, she's starving, girl, she is.
- 56:09Speaker 4: She's taking chemo, went home twice a day, she's giving
- 56:11Speaker 4: it to herself. You know, she's just very mature for
- 56:15Speaker 4: her age, and I think all of this has made
- 56:18Speaker 4: her mature. But you know, but she's doing amazing.
- 56:21Speaker 1: She is.
- 56:23Speaker 4: She wants to be a cosmetologist. She's gotten a full
- 56:26Speaker 4: ride to school already. She she living her best life.
- 56:32Speaker 1: She's living her best life. So she's still on chemo.
- 56:35Speaker 1: But did they take what's going on with the side
- 56:37Speaker 1: of her brain? So that picture that I showed you
- 56:42Speaker 1: because you got to get me clear, because I got
- 56:45Speaker 1: two pictures that okay, So this that one that I've
- 56:49Speaker 1: showed you first, was August, right all right? Look at
- 56:52Speaker 1: that one.
- 56:54Speaker 4: That was October.
- 56:57Speaker 1: Oh, okay, hold on, I gotta, I gotta. I pulled this, Okay,
- 57:02Speaker 1: hold on, hold on? Is the light all the way
- 57:05Speaker 1: up on this light difference? Hold on? I was trying
- 57:12Speaker 1: to do that too. Okay, there we go. Okay, there
- 57:17Speaker 1: it is all right. So this is the same picture. Okay,
- 57:20Speaker 1: So I'm gonna show y'all the picture again. So the
- 57:22Speaker 1: the white it is the hold on right there right here?
- 57:27Speaker 1: This is good, all right, y'all See that bright part, Yeah,
- 57:30Speaker 1: i'all need to turn a little bit. This bright part right,
- 57:34Speaker 1: that's the that's the tumor. This and this next picture
- 57:37Speaker 1: is from when October of last year. Wow, the total different.
- 57:46Speaker 4: B And you know where her on colloge is. When
- 57:49Speaker 4: he showed us those pictures He was like, this ain't
- 57:52Speaker 4: even the same brain. He was like, we have never
- 57:56Speaker 4: seen this within a two months fan. Now, mind you,
- 57:59Speaker 4: this is trial drug that she's on. Wow, And she's
- 58:04Speaker 4: the only African American female on the medicine. So there
- 58:10Speaker 4: was really no you know, if she breaks out, you know,
- 58:13Speaker 4: what can we do for her?
- 58:15Speaker 1: None of that.
- 58:15Speaker 4: It was no research on it because she's the first.
- 58:19Speaker 4: And I was like, girl, you setting records at the
- 58:21Speaker 4: age of twelve, Come on, like you setting you setting
- 58:24Speaker 4: somebody up. And we've been telling her from the beginning,
- 58:28Speaker 4: this whole journey ain't even about us. It's somebody coming
- 58:31Speaker 4: behind us that's gonna need to see and hear if
- 58:34Speaker 4: I can, if she can go through this, what I'm
- 58:37Speaker 4: going through, ain't even It don't even matter. The stuff
- 58:40Speaker 4: that we complain about on a daily basis, it don't
- 58:43Speaker 4: even matter. We've been telling her that from the beginning.
- 58:45Speaker 4: And we've also been telling her if he did it before,
- 58:49Speaker 4: he will do it again. Yes, my god, that has
- 58:51Speaker 4: been our mottol. That's what's on our t shirts.
- 58:54Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, and that purchase. Yes, they all look,
- 58:59Speaker 1: I'm vincent, we got we got My daddy just told
- 59:02Speaker 1: me that his chemo is seventy eight hundred dollars. The
- 59:06Speaker 1: new chemo that they're about to do tart him all
- 59:08Speaker 1: for the people, it's seven eight hundred dollars for the copey. Okay, God,
- 59:12Speaker 1: So when people say, hey, can you help that our
- 59:15Speaker 1: medical bills, y'all think everything cute, y'all. On the other
- 59:19Speaker 1: side of that, y'all praying, but pray, prayer, Thank you Lord,
- 59:23Speaker 1: payment blessing seed in the ground.
- 59:26Speaker 4: We need that too, I mean, because you have to
- 59:28Speaker 4: think about it. I'm still trying to maintain a marriage.
- 59:30Speaker 4: I'm still trying to maintain being a mother to my
- 59:33Speaker 4: ten year old. That's like, you know, all the attention
- 59:36Speaker 4: is on my sister. I'm still trying to maintain that
- 59:40Speaker 4: my husband is the only one working. You know, I'm
- 59:42Speaker 4: trying to make sure that I'm still checking off boxes
- 59:46Speaker 4: that my marriage still gonna be intact when I get
- 59:48Speaker 4: back home. I was gone for a month and a half.
- 59:51Speaker 4: You know, marriages, you need your spouse, you know you
- 59:56Speaker 4: my son needed me, and so you know, we have
- 59:59Speaker 4: people to start go fundmes for us. But also in
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: the process, I started her a nonprofit and it's called
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: Standing with Crystalline, and I did that because when we
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: got there in August, I literally had to go into
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: prayer and fasten to ask the Lord to help me
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: stay focused because there are so many moving pieces around you.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: You see all these children that are tubes up their noses,
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: you know, they're crying and pain. You see all of
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: these things, and it's just like, we're not there, and
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: I'm grateful for that, but there is somebody there that
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: needs to They need that encouragement. Yeah, you know, there
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: are parents walking around like they hadn't slept in days,
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: and most of them probably haven't because their children are
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: literally deadly sick. And so at one point I felt
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: guilty because I was like, she's here, but I still
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: feel guilty because you know, when you look at her,
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: you can't tell anything is wrong with her, you can't.
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: But you look at these other children and these other mothers,
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: and they're just like zoned out almost, And so you know,
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: I started her non profit because when we were there
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: that month, people were sending Crystalline things from literally all
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: over the world from just from her Facebook page that
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: I started, and so I was like, you know, these
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: other children need to know that they're not forgotten about.
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: These parents need to know that they're not forgotten about.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: And so we started her nonprofit.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: And every time we go back, which is every two
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: months right now for scans, we take back joy bags
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: and so we put like slinkies in there, or like
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: the remember the Slapberry slubbers. We put those notepads, blankets
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: and pillows, just stuff just to let these kids know
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: you're still a child, you know, and you're not forgotten about.
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: And so that's what her non profit does. And you know,
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: people are still pouring into that on a daily basis,
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: you know, buying her T shirts. My friend that makes
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: the T shirt, she gives all that money back to us,
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: you know, she makes them, but she's like, here, you
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: y'all need this. You know, my husband is the only
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: one working, and so you know, bills are still billing,
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: that they still building.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: They do not care. And so.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: I'm telling you it's the journey has been. You know,
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: people always say I don't know how you do it,
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: and I tell them when I say, it ain't nothing
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: but the grace of God, because I could be on
- 1:02:34Speaker 4: a straight jacket right now, literally and they're not.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: But I'm not.
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: I'm not And I you know, I told the Lord,
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: I need you to help me stay focused. I need
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: you to help me support these other women around me,
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: because there are six families that I know of from
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: Birmingham at Saint jud And so when I say he
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: connecting all the dots, it's kind of like.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: He didn't.
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: He hadn't brought us this far just to bring us
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: this far. There's somebody else but that's coming behind us
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: that it's gonna need to know.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: You can do it. Yeah, you can do it. It
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: may not seem like it, you know, we we don't see.
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: What he's doing. But he is connected every single dot
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: that you need connected every day.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Man, this is this is so good. Before before I
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: let you land the plane on this, that's what I
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: want to hear from I want to hear from you.
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: This has been very put the camera on you, I
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: got it go, oh there we go.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: This just has been very inspiring. And right when we
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: were getting ready to end, so me and Jessica did
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: his whole beautiful episode and and we had no sound
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: on the mic. So, but one of the basis of
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: that particular episode, we talked about Proverbs three, five and six,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: and so right when you guys were finishing talking. That's
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: what scripture came up, because we just don't know how
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: our the journey that God has for us, right, and
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: so proverts three five and six. This is going to
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: be the passion translation. It says, trust in the Lord completely,
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: and do not rely on your own opinions with all
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: your heart. Rely on Him to guide you, and he
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: will lead you in every decision that you make. Become
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: intimate with him in every in whatever that you do,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: and he will lead you and wherever you go. And
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: so it's it's if you just thinking about my own journey.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: You know, Jess can probably sit here and think about
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: the journey that she's been on and the one thing
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: that I just remember my past and she's and she's
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: told me this, I know, like twice. So I know
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: that the Lord is just trying to reassure me that, hey,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: the journey is not going to be what you may
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: think it may be, but just know it's exactly what
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: it's supposed to be because I'm with you, right, and
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: so just listen to the start of your journey. You know,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: you know you've had some issues with fibroids. You met
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: your husband, y'all, out here living living your best newly
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: weed life. Now you've gotten blessed with the with with
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: your with your children. And now I was like a wrench, like, Lord,
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: now what. But at the end of the day, like
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: He's had this whole path already mapped out for you, guys,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: all we literally have to do is continue to walk
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: the path, you know, And so I'm grateful for you
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: for coming and sharing your story, and I hope that
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: those listening found hope and inspiration in their story. You know,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: no matter where you are on your journey, just know
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: that we're not walking this thing out by ourselves. You know,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: God is always there, even if we don't feel like it.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: You know, sometimes we'll be like I feel like I'm
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: by myself, But just know He's He's always there. And
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: if you just surrender your thoughts, surrender your your mind,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: surrender the process to him, He's gonna guide you.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: And direct you in exactly the way that you should go.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: So just thank you so much.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: We're gonna link all of crystallines information for her her
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: foundation in the comments. You guys, and if you have
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: a heart, it's not like you know, if anytime somebody's
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: asking for you to give something like, don't give out
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: an obligation, but if it's on your heart to so,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: just be obedient. You just never know the seeds that
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: you're planning in the ground, and in order to get
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: a harvest, Okay, you gotta plan. You gotta be playing seeds.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: And the more seeds that you're planning, the more that
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: your harvest will come. So just thank you so much
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: for just sharing your beautiful story. Yeah, and I'm gonna
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: tag along with that, Like not only that, but I
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: know y'all heard, and I didn't tap into that for
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: a reason because I heard what the Lord was leading
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: us to because it's it's it's gonna get there. But
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I do not want to neglect the fact that she
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: is more than just the mom to crystallin. But she
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: was first a wife to Miss the Bowman. And we
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: believe in Kingdom marriages. We believe in so ands and those,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: and so if anybody wants to do so and to
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: their date nights, gift cards or whatever, we'll make sure
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: that they get that. Like if y'all send it to
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: just as just put Bowman donation and I'll make sure
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: you get it. Like we're gonna we're gonna make sure
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: because I don't know. I don't want to get it
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: twisted with the non profit or whatever. But I ain't
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: no nothing prophets. So we can get it sent to you,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: but just put put it under there as Bowman donation
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: and we're gonna send it directular to them so they
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: can go have date night or they can take care
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: of a bill that they need. Because this is this
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: is what this is about. It's kingdom, it's kingdom work,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: and so if you want to sew into them, just
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: make sure you put bowmen seed. Okay, put Bowman seed,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: and maybe we'll have a link up by then. By then, okay,
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: but no, this is this is fertile ground and whatever
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: your need is. And I even decree declare before this
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: episode airs that all of it will be taken care of.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: That didn't hop my god, that this shall be overflow
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: what you experienced from this platform and the platforms that
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: you should go continuously speak with, that's gonna be overflow.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: That's gonna be overflowed. And so man, we're coming in
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: unifying with you. But if you sow this seed and
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: it's specifically for bowmen, I need for y'all to put
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Bowman seed in the subject line. So we can get
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: them taken care of. They can have date night, they
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: can pay a bill, they can do whatever they need
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: to do for that household. Okay, all right, so you
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: together right now, because it's the camera going to come
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: back to you. All right, all right, So I know
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: you've said a lot. I know that there's a lot
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: that's miss said or whatever. But on this platform, we
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: like to give you the finals, the final say. So
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: whatever's on your heart, whether you want to land a plane,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: we say, Jude, your nonprofit, whatever, however you want to
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: end this thing, the floor is yours. Okay.
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: So she does have a Facebook page as well. It's
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: called Standing with Crystalline. It's her name is spelled k
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: r y s t a l y N. I want
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: to land it with something that has kept me grounded.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Take your time's.
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: Proverbs eighteen and ten, and it says, the name of
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: the Lord is a strong fortress, and the godly run
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: to him and are safe. That has been my safe
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: and grace. Because things change around you, Circumstances change, people change,
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: circumstances change, but the Lord is consistent. Yeah, He's consistent
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: in everything that he does. The grace that he stands
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: towards is thank you, the hope that he gives. And
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: so I just want to encourage that if he did
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: it before, he'll do it again. And that's how I'm
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: going to end it, because don't give up on him.
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: He is the same God that he was when things
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: happen back then, things that are happening right now, and
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: the things that are to calm he is. He is consistent,
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: So do not give up on him. Don't turn your
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: back on him, because he's not gonna do that to you.
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: So that's that's how gonna end it, because.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: No, you deserve listen them, do not be ashamed of
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: the tears, do not like those are. God is just
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: continuously working the miracle and he is continuously truven that
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: he's consistent. Like you just said, so I'm excited that
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: you came here. Thank you so much for being open

- 1:10:46Speaker 4: We're not going to overlook the fact of how you
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: pray for me. We're not gonna overlook that. I'm not
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: overlooking that. I'm not overlooking it at all. No, ma'am,
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: we're not overlooking that. We're not gonna put that, that
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: whole interaction to the side. We're not doing that. Keep
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: letting the Lord looke use you and however he sees fit.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Amen. Amen, We love you.
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: We love you.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: Crystal, Crystal got miss Bowman. Crystal, y'all. I know, I

- 1:11:24Speaker 1: fighting tears, y'all. So we got the land. I'm trying
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: not to be crying with her. You listen, But I'm
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: just God because God is so good. God is so good.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: And so if you heard her story and you feel
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: led the soul. If you heard her story and you
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: feel led and you need more information, go to her page.
