0:00
It's still really to be damn. Welcome everybody to this special bonus edition of
0:06
the Cereal To Show for December twenty ninth, twenty twenty three. It is
0:10
our aw World's End preview and predictions. We're taking a break during our holiday
0:18
break to come up here and I don't know, do a couple of minutes
0:21
and go through this Saturday's pay per view, Doctor Troy. We usually take
0:26
three straight weeks off. We pre recorded the show from last week, the
0:30
show yesterday, and the show next week well in advance. But here we
0:34
are thanks to Tony Kahan interjecting ourselves with some timely wrestling content. Hello,
0:40
my friends, so good to be here, My friends. Sorry, I
0:42
flashback to the pre show here. I just it's a little weird to be
0:47
jumping back in. I can tell your enthusiasm level was not there. We
0:51
didn't get the big hurrah O. I try not to do the normal opening
0:55
when it's the bonus edition. I just like to try to get right into
0:58
it because I feel like there's the bonus edition is like here we are,
1:02
this is us. But then usually that our bonusis are was like sad news.
1:07
That is true. It has been that way as of late. It
1:08
was the last time we did it was the Bray White Show. We have
1:12
interrupted our holiday programming schedule in the past when Brody Lee passed away. A
1:18
lot of remembrance for both those guys over the last week with Brody Lee's passing.
1:23
Now, what was that three years ago? Yeah, I mean it's
1:26
just it's just wild. I mean, at least this time, it's it's
1:30
like happiness that we're interjecting ourselves with because we've got a pay per view.
1:34
I don't know how I feel about a pay per view during the holiday like
1:38
this, but I know that this was a common thing. I remember I
1:41
grew up in starkad would be taking place like this upcoming weekend. Yeah,
1:46
and then you know we got all these now, like ww's kind of taking
1:49
a page from Adew's book with having these branded themed raws and smackdowns as well
1:57
as I like that. I really liked that, by the way. Uh,
2:00
I like that Day one in New Year's Revolution is back in the rotation.
2:05
I think it's a smart thing to do because they're going to be battling.
2:07
This is your wheelhouse, Doctor Trey, not so much mine, But
2:09
they're gonna be battling college football all next week. So does this mean like
2:14
this is like ww's answer to bowl season. I think, I think in
2:17
a way right, like because Monday night, uh what the second game,
2:23
the second semi final game, I think kicks off at eight. I think
2:25
Rose Bowl is at five thirty, So I mean I'll be watching Raw,
2:31
most likely live or delayed. But I would imagine well, for you,
2:36
right the the sans Alabama fan Michigan and Alabama will be probably done by the
2:42
start of Raw. I'm hoping so because that's that's that's a hard that's a
2:46
hard choice because it's a weird by the way, this side note, this
2:50
is a weird game for me because I like Jim Harbaugh X forty nine Ers
2:53
coach and I like Alabama, so I don't know who to root for that
2:54
one. So yeah, yeah, yeah, no, it's it's strange.
2:58
I know Monday Night's gonna be battle for them, and then I don't think
3:00
the National Championship game is until about a week later, So I mean,
3:05
definitely the day one edition of Raw is going to be quite the battle and
3:08
taking on the semi finals, and then people like doing New Year's type stuff
3:13
like I don't know about you, doctor Trey, but usually like my family
3:15
or my in laws, like we have dinner together and then the holidays are
3:20
officially closed and I'm back to my normal work and grind. The next day
3:24
on the second, January second, is like one of the hardest days of
3:29
the year. I think it's like she, I think it's it's got to
3:34
be one of the hardest. Now I'm trying to have I'm trying to think,
3:37
like what other day would my mind not want to be doing anything,
3:40
because I don't know. Doctor Trey and I were just talking, like we're
3:45
both intermittently working right now, doctor Trey more than I am, because like
3:50
my job is very quiet, Doctor Trey is out and about, so I
3:53
guess it's a little bit easier. But like December fifteenth hits for me and
3:59
I'm like tuned out, Like it's very rare that I get an opportunity to
4:02
take a break from the personal work, podcasting, hobbies, life that I
4:08
have outside of this spectrum of SRTU. So I always take like these two
4:13
and a half three weeks and just kind of reset a little bit, and
4:15
then when January second rolls around for me, it's like son of uh bitch.
4:19
Yeah, like the company I'm with now, it's a little weird.
4:23
For like last year when I was running the live events team, like there's
4:26
there's no events in December because it's too cold to actually be out there and
4:30
running a fair or a festival or what is too cold in Alabama? Uh
4:34
thirty five forty okay, people, that is cold. That is cold.
4:38
That's that is cold. Like our highest week like today's forty seven. So
4:42
like for Alabama, it's pretty cold. But like you know, if you're
4:46
running events, they usually start like seven o'clock, eight o'clock in the morning,
4:49
and those are it's still thirty three thirty forty freez. We don't people
4:53
don't like getting out that early. So with now moving over to the retail
4:56
side, it's still slow ish because it's these are in home improvement stores,
5:02
so it's still slow ish. But I didn't know my company had unlimited PTO
5:08
and I'm like, shit, I could just taken these entire two weeks off
5:10
and nobody was said a word to me about it. But I feel guilty
5:14
about doing stuff like that, so I'm just like, no, I'll keep
5:16
working. But it is weird, like I'm literally like trying to do a
5:19
schedule for the people that work under me, and I'm like, we can't
5:25
be in the store on Sunday, we can't be in the store on Monday,
5:27
and the company doesn't really want us in the stores on Tuesdays. So
5:30
we're only back in the store Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, back
5:32
out again on Sunday and Monday, and then light schedule on Tuesday. I'm
5:35
like, why are we even doing anything? Can we just shut it down?
5:39
But oh, by the way, I was seeing this, why like
5:43
thinking about bull season and wrestling. I know, I'm kind of squirreling around
5:46
here and jumping around a bit, but this popped in my head when you're
5:48
talking about like why hat, since we're doing these branded events like like Day
5:54
one Revolution, why don't they look for sponsorship? Because I would love to
6:00
see Manscape or Manscaper Presents Monday Night Raw grape Balls of Fire. I would
6:03
have me, well, duh, yeah, I would love to see that,
6:09
or bring it back, Tostitos SmackDown. You know, it's just what
6:14
it just like little things like that like that would be a way for them
6:15
to make a little bit more revenue, like, I don't see why they
6:17
haven't tapped into those like college football has done for the better part of the
6:20
last thirty years. Hey, listen, we're talking to Nick con right now,
6:24
so might as well let mean throw it out there. Hello, Yeah,
6:28
let's do it. Nick co On, please hop on in there and
6:30
take advantage of the grape Balls of Fire returned by Presented by Manscape. One
6:35
of my favorite January and I think they only did this once and I've definitely
6:40
talked about this on the podcast somewhere in my wrestling fan library of vhs and
6:46
DVD which, by the way, rip WE DVDs. WWE Home Video closes
6:53
like this week. It's it's done. On December thirty. First, they
6:56
just ran their final DVD, which is a survivor series, War Games,
7:02
and I don't think that is gonna be talked enough about, probably the only
7:05
time this will be mentioned this podcast that like w W Home Video is closing,
7:10
which has been around forever. Coliseum home Video at one point they were
7:15
doing all their stuff, but one of my favorite branded special football type events
7:20
they ever did was the Raw Bowl. Do you do you remember that?
7:24
Doctrin? Basically essentially it was a fatal four way elimination fatal four way tag
7:28
team match. It was like Breton Yoko, the Smoking Guns one two three
7:33
kid in Psycho Sid and I think Razormon and Savio Vega. I almost am
7:38
positive I just nailed that. I think you did because as your mentioning,
7:42
IM like, I know Savio Vega was in there, like I was remembering,
7:45
I was like, oh yeah. And then I think, didn't they
7:46
even have like like those little like craft jersey type they think they did?
7:50
Yes? Yeah, see how you do remember that? See? My favorite
7:54
thing was always the when they would do the halftimee shows where we got Rock
7:57
and Magki and in the Efty Arena match was yes, yes. And I
8:01
actually think the Raw Bull episode there was a halftime show and I've had something
8:05
to do with like gold Dust I remember, oh yeah yeah. So but
8:09
I always love when they would do the football tie is because I mean half
8:13
I would think probably eighty percent of the wrestling roster were formal like high school
8:18
football players. You know, most of those guys were big kids growing up.
8:20
Anyway, I'm talking about you know, the eighties and nineties wrestlers,
8:24
not the guys today that are one hundred and seventy five pounds. But you
8:28
know a lot of those guys played football, so it's kind of like a
8:31
way that's kind of harkened back. I mean, you got guys like Hacksaw
8:33
Jim Duggan and you know guy you know, Wahoo McDaniel, and you know,
8:37
all the way through Goldber, guys who actually played in the NFL and
8:39
stuff like that. Like those guys, you know, you threw up a
8:43
wrestling thing, you know, paper or event and people got fired up.
8:46
Plus those were always in response to how great the Bug Bowls and the Puppy
8:50
Bowls were also back in the nineties. Yes, yeah, so go out
8:52
of your way. I'm sure it's up on YouTube. Check out Raw Bull.
8:56
Uh. But yeah, next week is a big week. We certainly
8:58
are not going to be in the next week's edition the podcast because it's already
9:03
been pre recorded. It's our wrestling preview special, which actually goes toe to
9:05
toe with w w we's Previews special. That's Aaron on Peacock. So yeah,
9:09
let's go hut at wa. But yeah, in about two weeks we'll
9:13
get back to our normal regular schedule programming for SRTU. That falls on December
9:20
eleventh, excuse me, January eleventh, and it's possible, I don't know.
9:24
Maybe Doctor Trey and I will hop on here next week and we'll do
9:26
a recap as well. If not, we'll certainly cover World's end recap on
9:31
the January eleventh edition. So just stay tuned, continue to download US where
9:35
you get US iTunes, Spotify, what have you, and keep an eye
9:39
on the social media content feeds and Facebook pages and see when this podcast comes
9:45
up. So we debated actually doing this, decided that we were going to
9:48
do something here for a little bit at least get another one in there for
9:52
the end of the year and get you ready for Saturday's aw Worlds and pay
9:56
per view, which comes to us from the Nasau Veterans More Coliseum in Uniondale,
10:01
Long Island, New York. I love when we it's like the only
10:05
part of the United States that we treat like it's a providence in Canada where
10:11
they're like Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Like only in Long Island, Are
10:15
you like Uniondale, Long Island, New York, Because people like, oh
10:18
I thought it was a Long Island. It is, but Uniondale is the
10:22
town in Long Island, so it's like, Okay, Canada, Long Island.
10:26
Yeah, it's all the same at the end of the day. So
10:28
let's get to it here, Doctor Turr. As of right now, they
10:31
have announced as we record this one, two, three, four, five,
10:35
six, seven, eight, nine, ten matches. I expect some
10:39
to be added. One match on here that I don't see right now that
10:41
I expect to be added as FTR taking on Buddy Matthews and Aliser Black or
10:48
Malachi Black at the paper view. I would imagine that takes place. But
10:52
they only have one show really to announce these matches, whether it's online or
10:56
on Rampage on Friday night, No Collision on Saturday, The Collision Cowboys Stay
11:01
Home in lieu of World End taking place on Saturday night live in Long Island.
11:09
So the first match here, Doctor Trey is a twenty man Battle Royal
11:11
for a future AWT and T Championship matches. You and I record this.
11:15
They haven't announced a soul that is going to participate in this match, so
11:20
we have no ideas. So the way that I went about this is I
11:24
looked at the Continental Classic. I looked at the card, and I was
11:26
like, Okay, who performed well in the Continental Classic and is not performing
11:31
in the pay per view. A couple of big names, Brodie Lee and
11:35
Andreddai Alito is in the pay per view later on Claudium Cassick No Lee is
11:41
not. So when I looked at the standings, I was like, Ah,
11:43
this person who performed on Wednesday night in a phenomenal triple threat match with
11:48
Swarve Strickland and John Moxley. I'm gonna go with Jay White to win this
11:52
battle Royal Doctor Trey, I'm thinking I honestly, so let's see, I
12:00
went Continental Classic like like, that's kind of I feel like those are the
12:03
favorites of Tony con right now. So is Christian and Adam Copland on the
12:09
card for the match they are They're in a no DQ match, okay,
12:13
for the TNT Championship. So if I go there, yeah, you know
12:18
what, I typically try to go way off the radar with us, but
12:22
you know, I think I think I'll take Claudio to get the win.
12:26
All right, If that makes sense, Yeah, let's do it. Claudia
12:28
Lucassignoli is doctor Trace pitt Pick. I'm gonna go with Jay White next match.
12:33
Here is on the pre show, Hook defends the FTW Championship against Wheelery
12:39
Utah in an FTW rules match. No idea what that means, but it's
12:41
an FTW rules match, so I mean FTW. I mean I know what
12:46
that stood for, so I don't know if that means the rules are.
12:50
Like if we if we get the no rope match like we saw on an
12:54
XT the other night, I'm going to take hook uh in the just because
13:00
I can't see Wheeler Year running around. Although that would bring back the oh,
13:05
the guy that Claudia fought, the Bloodsport guy. Oh, Josh Barnett,
13:11
Josh Barnett. Yeah, it's gonna say Josh Briggs. I'm like,
13:13
that's the wrong Josh b You could do the blood Sport rules. If you
13:16
have the FTW title, do all your matches under those kind of rules.
13:20
I still think I'll take Hook. I'll take Hook. There we go.
13:22
I'm gonna take Hook as well. He's the hometown guy, so I'm gonna
13:24
take Hook to win the match. Next match, here's the Championship final for
13:28
the AW Continental Classic for the inaugural Triple Crown Championship of the ROH World Championship,
13:33
New Japan's Strong open weight Championship and the inaugural ae W Continental Championship.
13:39
We have no idea what that title looks like yet. Eddie Kinkson takes on
13:43
John Moxley, the winner of both the Gold League and Blue League finals.
13:46
The booking of Eddie Kinkson has been a lot of fun in this He started
13:50
down OH two, worked his way back up, became an underdog, finally
13:54
defeated Brian Danielson on Wednesday Night's edition of AW Dynamite. I'm really looking forward
14:01
to this one ton of momentum on Eddie Kinkson's side. I think they did
14:03
this tournament. He put up his They mentioned multiple times his life work of
14:07
roa trold title on the New Japan Strong open Weight Championship to be in this
14:11
tournament, and therefore, I think that this tournament is the opportunity to springboard
14:18
Eddie Kinkson some more. I'm going to take Eddie Kinkson to win this match,
14:22
and I just want to give a little tip of the cap to AW.
14:26
The Continental Classic tournament was a ton of fun to watch, really fun
14:28
matches, great stuff. It is what has carried AAW since Full Gear to
14:33
now and it's literally just been this tournament to me, that has truly carried
14:39
aw looking forward to this in hopeful year's future. Eddie Kinkson has my choice
14:45
to win this match, Doctor Trey. Yeah, I think Eddie kings is
14:46
my choice as well, and a lot of it is because of the Moxley
14:50
booking. Like you, swar Strickland obviously probably the hottest star on the roster,
14:54
does not get the win because it's like, Okay, you got something
14:58
else planned first, Sword's than this. Then you have Moxley go over to
15:03
have Kingston beat Moxley, and those guys are like best friends in real life,
15:05
so I don't think Moxie is might losing to Eddie Kingson to help elevate
15:11
his friend. So I'll take Eddie Kingston as well. Next match, Year's
15:13
Julia Hart to fend the AWTBS Championship against Abadon, Doctor Tree, Who do
15:18
you like in this one? Man? This was tough because I really like
15:20
Abadon, She's a really fun character. But I'm gonna take Julia Hart using
15:26
her black magic against the Abaddon zombie magic and maybe a little sistant from sky
15:31
Blues Blue Magic to overcome Abudon's zombie magic. Yes, Okay, Wow,
15:35
and they were in Orlando on Wednesday night, the home of the Orlando Magic.
15:41
Ironically enough, I'm gonna take Julia Hart to retain the AWTBS Championship as
15:46
well. This feud has been decent. I'm happy for Abdon to get into
15:50
a little bit more TV time. She was a really fun character, like
15:54
in twenty twenty, twenty twenty one. I know she'd I think she'd battled
15:56
some injuries and have been away for a while off of AW television. So
16:00
it's cool to see her in the spot and it's a nice, nice little
16:03
AWTBS Championship feud. Next match is Timeless Tony Storm defend the AW Women's World
16:08
Championship against Riho. I'm going to take Timeless Tony Storm to win and retain.
16:15
And I just have a feeling doctor Trey that Jamie Hayter or a doctor
16:18
Burt Baker maybe returning at Saturday's AW World's End event. Yeah, there about
16:22
due. I'm taking Timeless Tony Storm as well. Like I like Rio,
16:26
but I mean from where she was at when the show first launched a few
16:30
years ago to where she is now, Like, I mean, she's not
16:33
even a top Japanese superstar in Order's division. I think you could at Tashida,
16:38
So like for me, it is kind of just a you know,
16:41
we're adding days to Tony's run type match, so I'll take Tony Storm as
16:47
well. Yeah, I mean Rio got derailed a lot by the pandemic and
16:49
then just very intermittently she's involved in the pro in the promotion. I don't
16:55
even really know if she's technically a full time wrestler for them at this point
16:57
based on how things are. But you really forget that Rijo was the first
17:02
AW women's World champion. It's it's kind of absurd in a way, but
17:04
the women's division in AW can be a podcast in itself. Next match here
17:10
is Ricky Stark's Big Bill, Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Ops taken on Christ Jericho,
17:14
Samy Gevara, Sting and Darby Allen in a eight man tag team match.
17:19
Obviously, this is a match that is taking place because of the dive
17:22
tiiculitis with Kenny Omega, which could have resulted in death based on some things
17:27
that are being reported out there right now. The Chris Jericho Samy gevar reunion
17:33
is a quick creative response to that, so I assume they don't think Kenny
17:40
Omego will be back anytime soon. We'll get Doctor Trey's thoughts on this in
17:45
just a second, but I felt like at one point Doctor Trey sidebaring this
17:52
all that Don Catallus was going to be revealed as the devil and that Powerhouse
17:55
ops Kyle Fletcher Powerhouse Kence Kenoski to Keshka and Samy, We're gonna be the
18:00
Devil's henchman. That may be all out the window because Sammy is reunited with
18:06
Chris Jericho, but here we are. I mean, this is kind of
18:11
in response to the Kenny Omega stuff. And this also gets Stinging Darby Allen
18:15
on the card as well. In an eight man tag team match. Who
18:19
do you like in this one? And I guess give your thoughts on the
18:22
Jericho Samy Gevar reunion. So I'm gonna take the Sting Darby Allen Jericho Gavar
18:27
team because Sting doesn't lose him lose like two months before his retirement match in
18:33
a random eight man tag So you have Sting and Sting in Jericho on the
18:37
same team as well. It is pretty pretty cool. So I'll take those
18:41
guys in the win, and it's just kind of such a knee jerk booking
18:47
response. It is literally like this may be like I give credit to WB
18:52
for having the worst baby face turn of all time when Al bernadel Rio turned
18:56
baby face because of the spansion now table Sammy Goavarz hearned baby face because of
19:02
a baby So that's literally like the ultimate reason to turn babyface. So it's
19:10
just one of those things where just like it sucks that you know, Kitty
19:12
got you know, diverticul lies because we all know the brock Lesnar story and
19:17
how much that mess brought up. It's just it is kind of a shame
19:22
that you don't have somebody in place to kind of want to elevate into a
19:27
good babyface role other than flipping Sammy Gavara against Samy gavar Is quickly becoming the
19:33
big show of AW. I was literally thinking the same thing. It's like
19:37
the more kids like been baby facing, heel like I think already a dozen
19:41
times in five years of AW, so it's just hard to kind of keep
19:45
up. And it's like, Okay, we turned a baby face because Don
19:48
Challis put his baby in a painting, Like, does that make Don callus
19:52
the villain from Ghostbusters too, or you just you don't do the match for
19:57
a while. Yeah, I guess it does in a way. He is
20:00
the villain from Ghostbusters too. But yeah, I'm gonna take Jericho, Sammy
20:04
Sting and Darby Allen as well. But creatively, in this entire thing,
20:08
I think this is a big problem I have with AW creative is that the
20:12
follow through. I get it. I understand their hands are tied. The
20:17
belief is that probably Kenny's going to be out for a while. But say
20:21
Kenny does make a miraculous return and he's back a month from now, and
20:23
then it leads to Sammy turning on Chris Jericho again. That wouldn't shock me
20:29
at all. It actually wouldn't shock me if Sammy turns on Jericho this Saturday.
20:32
AW World's end. There's just so many like you just had FTR make
20:38
the save for Daniel Garcia and oh God Millard their magic Daddy Magic Millard there
20:48
from the former JAS like pair. Daniel Garcia up with Jericho, got a
20:56
great hand. Yeah do that, I mean dip into the stuff like Jay
21:00
Haeger makes a ton of sense. They can go off on the story about
21:03
how Hagar basically saved Jericho's life overseas several years ago when they were both in
21:07
Wue like they have in the past. I just felt like there were so
21:11
many different ways to go about this and then go in the Sammyovar well again,
21:14
it was just really strange because they had the big turn at I believe
21:18
Grand Slam where he turned on Jericho and then he either got concussed I think
21:22
he got concuss at Wrestled Dream and then we hadn't seen him because he was
21:26
concussed and then had the maternity leave by having a baby with he and his
21:30
wife te Mellow Time Mello. It's like, what like this just I don't
21:34
know, very poorly executed in just a lack of different options that could have
21:41
made sense. Is he the worst of the four pillars right now? Based
21:44
on the booking. Based on the booking, I would still put Jungle Boy
21:51
Jack Perry. I'm I don't. I mean this again could be a podcast
21:56
in itself, I mean all three of the four And I'm a RB Allen
22:00
fan. I like Sam mcvaris in ring work. I think we all know
22:03
how I feel about Jungle Boy Jack Perry. Like Jack Perry was as a
22:07
character over the heel turn of the summer was starting to take a turn in
22:10
like this swarming villain that was you wanted to punch in the face. But
22:14
like, and I know they could still kick my ass, but visually,
22:18
three out of the four don't look like they could kick my ass, like
22:22
it could be in a decently even fight. And I've just never been I
22:26
know that's a very old school approach, but I just have never felt that
22:32
those guys are are truly the four pillars of the company. I I throw
22:37
Orange in as the fifth pillar then, and I'm like, yeah, even
22:38
Orange, I don't think I could. I think most people could think they
22:41
could take orangin to fight as well. Yeah I would. I would say
22:45
guys like Moxley, Jericho, Omega, maybe like the Bucks or like the
22:48
true pillars of that company. But whatever it is, what it is.
22:52
Enough of that next match here has been is Christian Cage defending the AWT and
22:57
T Championship in any Notice qualification match against Adam Copeland. This has been kind
23:03
of a mild feud. I don't know where kill Switch Lucasaurus is. I
23:08
don't know if he's hurt or I don't believe he was written off of television.
23:14
I think he may be hurt, but there's been like zero explanation.
23:17
They changed his name, he wrestled on Collision and then disappeared, and then
23:22
nothing has come out of this. Cage defeated Copeland when Nick Wayne's mom interfered,
23:29
her acting is like up there with some of the worst I've seen Judy
23:37
Bagwell, yeah, but she has like the potential to be Vicky Guerrero bad
23:42
or good as well, Like you don't know where that's going to go.
23:47
But nonetheless, I don't know. The Adam Copeland booking of AW has been
23:52
peculiar at best. I feel like a ton of momentum and hype and popularity
23:57
and excitement and then it's been kind of mild so far. I don't I
24:03
don't know. That's always been the trend with with a lot of the debuts
24:07
in AW for some reason. With that said, I do think Adam Copland
24:11
becomes the AWT and T champion at Saturday's event and defeats Christian Cage in a
24:15
notice qualification match. I kind of want to put into a Nick Wayne's mom
24:19
on a forkliff match. It's possible the way that Tony Kah does stuff,
24:23
So it is it's a really weird fore and you and I have done this,
24:29
been doing this show for a very long time, and we always talk
24:30
about like when best friends have a feud, it's usually really really good because
24:34
those guys trust each other implicitly and we'll do just crazy stuff like the sam
24:41
he's saying Kevin Owens Views, you know, things like that, where you're
24:44
like, these guys trust and love each other so much that they'll just go
24:48
crazy and balls out and it gets really intense. And this one it feels
24:53
like they're trying really really hard to be intense, but it's coming out.
24:59
Yeah, you're trying really hard. I'm taking Adam Copeland as well, because
25:04
this just reminds me of a w booking in general, Like they'll get a
25:07
big name in they'll shoot him to the moon, and then like a month
25:12
and a half in, it's like Tony Kahn forgot about this trying new toy
25:15
and it gets put back in the box and it just has played with every
25:18
so often. It's the same booking they've had with Mirro with a drawing a
25:23
even Brian Danielson to a point Adam Cole like they they come in full of
25:29
pomp and circumstance and then it end up ends up signifying nothing for a while.
25:33
So uh, I will say this is a reminder Christian Kasha was in
25:37
my list for a Performer of the Year on the men's side when we did
25:38
the Awrange show. So just he's he's been great. I don't know,
25:44
it just feels very It just feels stagnant. Maybe because longtime wrestling fans like
25:48
Doctor Trey and I have seen this, We've seen this play out. It
25:52
just feels it feels forced. It does it doesn't feel it doesn't feel like
25:55
these guys. We all know these guys are best friends and we want I
26:00
think the thing is moose of us want to see them together. That's why
26:02
I was literally going to say that I thought it would make better sense to
26:04
lead the direction of Nick Wayne, Shanna Wayne and Lucasaurus turning on him for
26:10
Adam Copeland make to save them the other way that this is going right now?
26:14
Yeah, I agree, So I love it. Next match here,
26:17
Swerve Strickland versus Keith Lee. Strict. Swerve has been on a major breakout
26:23
year in twenty twenty three. He's been in the continental classes the last couple
26:29
of months, six weeks or so. Keith Lee has been talking about him
26:34
and chasing him over the last couple of weeks. He identified him as Swerve
26:37
Strickland. This is a reset, a replay of what was a great tag
26:45
team and then a pretty decent feud post and now it's taking place again.
26:48
This just feels like a match that, Hey, we want to get Swurve
26:51
Strickland on the card. I love the stuff they did with Keith Lee.
26:53
There's a little bit of a storyline here, so it makes a little bit
26:56
of sense. So let's throw it up there. Swarve Strickland, take it
27:00
on. Kei Lee. Doctor Trey, who do you like in this one?
27:02
Uh? Like, I'm confused. I got this is hard for it
27:06
says. It's like, it's weird for me to pick because the Keith Lee
27:10
stuff has been decent on the undercard stuff, like you know, he's he's
27:15
looking for him, and I'm like, by the way, I love that
27:18
Carmelo chimed into Carmelo Hayes chimed in on this as well. But it's like,
27:23
Okay, you're kind of giving Keith Lee a little bit of a push,
27:26
but you're putting him now with Swerve. Who's the hottest guy in your
27:29
company. I don't think you want Keith Lee taking Swerve down. So maybe
27:33
this leads to Keith Lee joining Swerve at some point. I don't know.
27:37
I'm taking Swerve because this is hard to pick against him right now because he's
27:41
so on fire. So I'll take Swerve getting the win. I'm gonna take
27:45
Swerve Strickland as well. The Keith Lee booking has been kind of poor for
27:49
a while now, so I'm I'm a huge Keith Lee fan. I thought
27:52
at one point like he was gonna becoming w w weeed World of aweight champion
27:56
type on this podcast back when he was a w I think if he was
28:00
in the w umbrella right now, Triple H seemed to have affinity for him
28:04
and liked his work, he may be higher up on the car than he
28:07
currently is. Maybe this is an opportunity for him to reboot a little bit
28:11
and get back in front of the eyes of the resting fans a little bit
28:15
more positively than having black hair one week, having gray hair the next week.
28:18
Tagging with Dustin Rhodes one week back to solo and then taking on Shane
28:25
Taylor at ROH Final Battle a week later. Like, it's just been really
28:29
weird booking for Keith Lee, who I think deserves more. Hopefully this is
28:32
a reset and a reboot for him. But I am taking Swerve strictling with
28:36
a victor. I think Swerve is going to have a epic twenty twenty four,
28:38
which we'll probably talk about a little bit more on next week's regular edition
28:44
of SRTU on January the fourth. Next match here is Miro taking on Andrete
28:48
l Edelo. Those obviously the backstory here, Miro said to his wife C
28:51
J. Perry, who, I hope she's feeling better. She was in
28:55
the hospital with a really nasty finger infection. I don't know if she will
29:00
be at the show on Saturday. They are not promoting her from being there.
29:04
But Miro said that he would not touch Andredi l Ilo while he was
29:07
performing the Continental Classic, and once it was over, all bets are off
29:11
and that's what leads to this match. Outside of just a couple of backstage
29:15
vignettes and promos, there really has been not much in ring bill for this
29:18
one. I had a tough time calling this, but I'm gonna go with
29:22
Miro to take the victory of Doctor Trey. This is good because I think
29:27
we get to disagree on one. I'm gonna take Andrade just because I thought
29:30
Androti did really well in the Continental Classic and it seems like they're kind of
29:34
getting him on a roll a little bit. I love that Miro says that
29:37
the only reason he wants to fight on drate because Andre is an a hole.
29:41
It's not about it's not about his wife. It's weird watching one guy
29:45
find another guy who his wife manages that guy and that guy's wife in another
29:49
company, but she's out of the torn Aco right now, so that's just
29:52
kind of weird for me. But uh yeah, I'm gonna take on Dradik.
29:55
I thought Andretti had a really really solid run in the Continental Classic.
29:59
He did, he had really good run, and I hope for a bigger
30:02
year for Androdi because I am a fan of his work. Next match here
30:06
is for the aw World Championship as MJF defense against Samoa Joe. We will
30:11
get Doctor Trey's thoughts here in just a second and a prediction, but a
30:14
little bit of a preview here Doctor Trey. On Wednesday's Dynamite, it was
30:18
revealed that Samoa Joe had struck a deal with the Devil. The Devil's Henchmen
30:22
are the new ROH Tag Team Champions And depending on where you are and stand
30:26
on the storyline, you either really like what's going on, You're kind of
30:30
mild to what's going on and you like and dislike some stuff, or you
30:33
completely hate what it's going on with this Old Devil storyline and the involvement of
30:38
Samoa Joe and MJF in and out of this entire thing. Let me start
30:42
by saying that, and I rarely get like this, but I am an
30:47
old school wrestling fan. The ROH Tag Team Championship was at one time considered
30:53
one of the highest tag team titles in all of professional wrestling. The fact
30:59
that right now it's held by two people whose identity we have no idea they
31:02
are, and these Devil Henchmen is not ideal. But it's also not ideal
31:07
that the title was on MJFF and Adam Cole was being barely defended, wasn't
31:11
on the ROH Final Battle a couple of weeks a while ago as well.
31:15
The Samo Joe Devil twist. I kind of wish this played out a couple
31:19
weeks beforehand. I know MGFF has been hurt, but this has been a
31:23
mild feud from my standpoint. There's meaning behind it, but it's been been
31:29
kind of mild, and I think a lot of that has to do with
31:32
the injury then obviously playing up of what's going on with the Devil's henchman as
31:36
well. Doctor Trey, your thoughts on this match, the storyline, and
31:40
who you think walks out as aw World Champion on Saturday Night. So I
31:45
think it helped this storyline a little bit, like it kind of gave another
31:49
twist to it. So it's like, Okay, well now I'm a little
31:52
bit still interested in who this is. I don't hate, like I don't
31:59
hate that two masked men who we don't know are the tag team champions.
32:04
That to me is a little bit of a throwback to the old days when
32:07
you'd have like the mass Superstars and things like that. I do hate what
32:09
they've done with the ring aboutter tag team titles, and a lot of that
32:13
was because of the injuries. So, you know, I don't mind that
32:15
the Devil's rejects have the belt right now. I just like that name better
32:20
than the Hitchman. It's just it did give a little bit of layers to
32:25
this, because that was one of things gonna plain about that was that they
32:28
weren't really doing a whole lot with the storyline, and now that they are,
32:31
it's like, okay, well you're giving a little bit to it,
32:34
a little bit of substance to it alone. And I think a lot of
32:36
it has to do with the Adam colandery. I think it's gonna still come
32:38
out that at this point. I feel like it is almost gonna be certain
32:42
to be revealed that it is Adam Cole, you know. So I guess
32:47
I didn't hate it, but uh, it just adds more to me if
32:52
I go, Okay, well you're gonna give the spin to it. But
32:54
I just still don't think that samo Joe's they got to take the belt off
32:58
MJF. So I'm taking MG after retain. But maybe the kind of shot
33:02
their watt a little bit too early with even somehow with Joe being revealed as
33:07
striking a deal with the devil, because now that shows to me that he
33:10
knows who the devil is. So that's one more persons who it is.
33:15
I guess. I guess essentially, so you're taking MG after retain, right,
33:20
I guess essentially it It may but you can still have an agreement with
33:24
the devil without actually working with the devil in the storyline. It's just weird
33:30
saying this out loud. I know. But I to me though, like
33:34
you don't make a deal less you know who you're dealing with. That's logic.
33:37
Maybe maybe people tagged with Ray Mysterial all the time and they may not
33:42
know what he looks like under the mask. Yeah, but you know,
33:45
like you've got twenty years of Ray experience, you kind of know what you're
33:49
getting with, Like this is a brand, you know. This is when
33:52
when wrestling becomes real. It's like, look, if this is reality,
33:54
I'm not striking, I hear you. But if you're going for a world
34:00
MPIP, you're making a deal with the devil. I mean, do you
34:01
really need to know who's under the mask? I gotta know that you're gonna
34:06
be carry your end of the bargain. I don't know, I don't know.
34:08
I understand where you're coming from, but I still think that you know
34:13
you don't need to know who the actual devil is by playing this all out,
34:17
I'm gonna take MJF as well, and I guess while we've got this,
34:20
we've got a little bit of still extra time here if we want again.
34:24
I had originally thought that the devil was going to be revealed as Don
34:28
Kallus and his family like Kenoski Takeshka, Will Hobbs, Kyle Fletcher, Sammy
34:34
Cavara. It had been four people. The build of all those henchmen resembled
34:40
the Don Kallis family build. I also think at times, I think we
34:46
figured maybe it's going to be Adam Cole, Roger Strong, Matt Tavin,
34:52
and Mike Bennett. Maybe you've thrown Kyle Riley, who is set to return
34:55
as well. But none of those wrestlers kind of fit the build that has
35:00
been out there, especially the very muscular one, unless they add like Wardlow
35:04
to it. Who could be you know, that big bulky devil's henchman.
35:09
I also thought a point said it was going to be sort of Strickland and
35:13
the mobile Embassy because of the build of the big muscular one, which would
35:16
have been Brian Cage. Then you've got the Gates of Agony in there as
35:21
well, and Prince Nanah. I don't I don't know the direction here.
35:27
And then obviously as people have gone back to thinking that maybe Jack Perry as
35:30
well, whether that's the way that you reintroduce him to television, I don't
35:35
know who's it going to be. I think they're running into a problem right
35:40
now that people are losing a little bit of interest and maybe they want to
35:44
reveal it at aw Worlds N on Saturday night, which that may be the
35:47
plan, and the plan also needs to be considered, like if it's not
35:53
ran on Saturday, I think I don't think it will. I think they'll
35:57
probably reveal it once MGF drops the time, which Doctor Trey and I both
36:02
don't think will be Saturday. Will the reaction meet our expectations? Like I
36:09
think if it's not anybody outside of Adam Cole, we are disappointed. This
36:16
could have the higher power type reaction from we back in what ninety nine when
36:22
it was revealed as Vince, which was a decent twist I liked at the
36:25
time at the time as a kid. But I think a lot of people
36:28
refer that storyline as being a little bit underwhelming Where are you sitting on this
36:34
right now, Doctor Trey? Who who do you think is behind the mask?
36:36
I guess ultimately, I mean, I guess you've kind of said that
36:38
already with Adam Cole. Who do you think is behind it? Who do
36:42
you think is revealed? Do you think it happens on Saturday's pay per view?
36:45
I mean, I'll sorry, I don't think it happens at the pay
36:49
per view. I think you hang on to a little longer event especial if
36:52
you're Gonn put the ring of Monter tag belts on, you know, the
36:53
two mask guys, and it just it would feel kind of like, you
36:58
know, everybody pulling their mask off at work. They feel like a Scooby
37:00
Doo episode when it comes to like who, I think to me, like
37:06
you have to look at it as whoever this is has to become the biggest
37:09
villain in your company, and so you have to look at you who your
37:13
top people are. Like if they were to reveal Sting as the devil,
37:19
like right before you know, his last match, his last match is him
37:22
and m j F, Like that'd be really cool, Like I'd be all
37:25
about that, you know, just Sting turned heel right before he leaves,
37:30
you know. You know that's why like I take I take Jack Perry out
37:34
of the mix, because I just don't think you can put Jack Perry as
37:37
being the face in the focal point of your company. To me, it's
37:40
got to be an Adam Cole, a swerve Stricklind, somebody that you've already
37:44
either elevated or has already been a main inventor, you know, and line
37:49
that up that way. The swarve thing be great because I just love to
37:52
seeing not in a Devil's match behind him just dancing away like that'd be funny
37:55
as hell too. So maybe it's stokely Hathaway and he's just say with how
38:00
Ring of Honor has been booked for the last six months and he's the devil.
38:02
The firm comes back in, but you have to present this. That's
38:07
why everybody hated the Vince gimmick was because you had a chance to elevate somebody
38:10
else and make them an instant main eventor. And I guess you could do
38:15
that with Jack Perry. It's just Jack Parry's one hundred and fifty five pounds.
38:20
It's just how do you elevate somebody who could get knocked over by a
38:23
strong you know, Long Island breeze. That's why to me, it's got
38:28
to be somebody you're either planning on making a face or a focal point of
38:31
your company, or somebody's already in that spot. So that's why the Adam
38:35
Cole thing makes sense to me. It's why it swerve makes sense to me.
38:37
You know, like I just don't see anybody else on the radar unless
38:43
they're just waiting for another free I mean, could it be a Dolph Sigler,
38:45
you know, contracts coming up? And maybe that's why everybody's better masks
38:49
because they've been waiting for that moment to reveal it to be Doll or somebody
38:53
else. And I don't hate the the mass muscle guys because back in the
38:59
aces an eighth days, you know a lot of those mask guys were just
39:01
guys they had on the show, and then when they came out who everybody
39:05
was? Half the guys they use under mask were not in the eighties and
39:08
eighth groups. So talk about disappointing reveals, Yes, So I mean there
39:14
is, I mean, is it? I just worry about this is going
39:16
to go old school for a lot of younger folks. I just hope it
39:20
doesn't heard like a Black Scorpion type thing where they're using one guy's voice and
39:23
it gets revealed that it was you know, Rick Flair. The entire time
39:28
that was a horrible, horrible angle because they had somebody else in mind in
39:32
it the deal fell through. So it's kind of the same thing here.
39:36
It's like maybe they had somebody in mind the injuries, say, the injuries
39:38
that to Adam Cole through a wrench of the whole plans. They tried to
39:42
readjust and drag it out, and hey, maybe it comes out Musafa,
39:45
you know, and we get retribution two point zero you it'll be interesting.
39:50
I do know that one of the henchmen going to the ring last night for
39:54
the Ring of Honor World Tag Team title match against MJFF and Simojoe does have
40:00
some sort of go tee because you could see that in the mass there.
40:05
So I don't know the whole thing is. It's interesting. There's a lot
40:08
lot lot writing on this for this to be a successful storyline, and I
40:14
really feel like for me as a wrestling fan, the way that it gets
40:15
best executed would be the reveal of Adam Cole behind this all entire thing,
40:21
so we will see, we will see how this plays out. AW World's
40:23

41:17
hit me with a bawl. We're watching AW Talking Wrestling. I figure I
41:22
think he just yes, I'm okay here in Matthew if I was okay.
41:24
He just hit me the poor an object and then asked me if I was okay.
