- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode of Long
- 0:15Speaker 2: Story Short the podcast.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm Megan, I'm Wendy.
- 0:20Speaker 2: In today's episode, we are discussing Advice to Love By,
- 0:22Speaker 2: the sixth and final Fall Harvest movie from Hallmark Channel.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Yeah. I have some thoughts, but I'm going to share
- 0:31Speaker 1: that later about the Fall Harvest lineup as a whole.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Indeed, before we jump into this movie, I wanted to
- 0:39Speaker 2: tell people a few things. Okay, First of all, we
- 0:42Speaker 2: have a brand new tier of our Patreon and what's patreon.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Patreon is a.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Subscription based service that allows you to support the creators
- 0:53Speaker 2: that you love, and we hope you we are one
- 0:55Speaker 2: of those creators that you love, and in exchange for
- 1:00Speaker 2: a small fee, we deliver you bonus content that you
- 1:03Speaker 2: can't get anywhere else. And so we currently have a
- 1:06Speaker 2: tier of our Patreon that gives you a bonus podcast
- 1:08Speaker 2: episode as well as a bonus video and some bonus
- 1:11Speaker 2: weekly content from us. But we've added a second tier
- 1:15Speaker 2: for our Hallmark fans going into the Christmas season, and
- 1:20Speaker 2: we will be reviewing an additional Christmas movie that does
- 1:23Speaker 2: not make it to the feed because there are so
- 1:26Speaker 2: many and you can subscribe simply the Hallmark Channel content.
- 1:33Speaker 2: If that's all that you want. There is a tier
- 1:35Speaker 2: that combines both types of content and you get a
- 1:39Speaker 2: little bit of a price break on that. If you're interested,
- 1:42Speaker 2: you can sign up for that because those episodes will
- 1:44Speaker 2: begin next week, and you can sign up at Patreon
- 1:48Speaker 2: dot com slash Megan and Wendy and as always, that
- 1:52Speaker 2: will be linked in our show notes. And the last
- 1:56Speaker 2: thing I would like to say is if you are
- 1:58Speaker 2: not already following us on Instagram, you can join us
- 2:01Speaker 2: Megan and Wendy LSS. Again, that's also linked in our
- 2:04Speaker 2: show notes, and we are going to be giving you
- 2:07Speaker 2: the opportunity to vote which of the weekends three movies
- 2:11Speaker 2: we will be reviewing next week. We do reserve the
- 2:14Speaker 2: right to override your vote. That said, I'm very excited
- 2:17Speaker 2: to watch all of this weekends movies, so I would
- 2:20Speaker 2: not be upset about any direction that this vote goes.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I can't say that for every weekend, but those movies
- 2:27Speaker 2: do start next week's give us a follow up on
- 2:29Speaker 2: Instagram so you can register your vote.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna stay here now. If you guys pick that
- 2:35Speaker 1: freaking nine Lives cat movie or whatever it is, sequels
- 2:40Speaker 1: in your power of veto on that one. Yes, absolutely,
- 2:45Speaker 1: it's not happening.
- 2:47Speaker 2: So coming back to Advice to Love by Wendy, do
- 2:50Speaker 2: you have a synopsis?
- 2:52Speaker 1: Nope? Damn it. Advice to Love by when a love
- 2:57Speaker 1: advice author crosses pass with a dating columnist and attraction
- 3:02Speaker 1: begins to blossom into more starring Aaron Westbrook and Brooks Darnell.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Let's hop into some news and notes about this movie.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, why do I have his name written as
- 3:14Speaker 2: Darnell Brooks?
- 3:15Speaker 1: I don't know, you know what? Wait, let me look,
- 3:18Speaker 1: I know it's Brooks Darnell. Yeah, you're right, you're right.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Yeah, right, So Aaron Westbrook went to Harvard?
- 3:24Speaker 1: Did you know that? I? No, I didn't.
- 3:27Speaker 2: And she currently plays Tabitha on Riverdale at a high schooler, right,
- 3:34Speaker 2: a high schooler? Yeah? Yeah, Well I assume I actually
- 3:37Speaker 2: don't currently watch Riverdale. I'm gonna be honest me neither.
- 3:40Speaker 2: But I need to look and see how old she
- 3:42Speaker 2: is because I mean, look, Luke Perry was forty and
- 3:45Speaker 2: played a high schooler. I just need to know how
- 3:48Speaker 2: old she is in real life. I'm not shaming her
- 3:51Speaker 2: like if you can get that teenage roll, get it.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Girl, but get that CW money. She is thirty three
- 3:57Speaker 1: years old.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Yep, she's like Gabrielle cart Totally.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Totally. This movie had a couple of different working titles
- 4:06Speaker 1: before landing on Advice to love By. First was Flirting
- 4:10Speaker 1: with Romance, which I am shocked that there is not
- 4:13Speaker 1: another Hallmark movie called Flirting with Romance. There's got to
- 4:16Speaker 1: be right, I.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Mean right the second title, there is a Hallmark movie
- 4:21Speaker 2: by that title.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what they had to get rid of it.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Love By the book was a twenty fifteen Hallmark movie,
- 4:28Speaker 1: so they had to change it to what is it now,
- 4:32Speaker 1: Advise to love By? Yeah?
- 4:35Speaker 2: I think Advice to love By is a better title
- 4:38Speaker 2: than Flirting of Romance for this particular movie.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I think so too. Like I'm googling, what
- 4:49Speaker 1: the heck? This is breaking news? Executive producer Patti Stanger
- 4:56Speaker 1: for this movie? Yes? Can you believe that? Do you
- 5:03Speaker 1: guys know who Patty Stanger is?
- 5:04Speaker 2: She's better known as the millionaire matchmaker I Stanger up.
- 5:09Speaker 1: To these days? I'm like shook, right now? Is it
- 5:13Speaker 1: the same? It is the same Patty's Stanger? Wow? Interesting?
- 5:17Speaker 1: I don't know which. She's probably matching people and serving
- 5:21Speaker 1: as a you know, a council on these movies. Wow.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Crazy right, indeed, Wow, I'm like sweating over this news
- 5:30Speaker 1: exciting stuff. Uh director Heather Hawthorne Doyle. Yeah, she. I
- 5:37Speaker 1: have a lot, a lot of news and notes on
- 5:40Speaker 1: the director here.
- 5:41Speaker 2: For what it is pouring here, it is.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Like I can hear it inside my closet with the
- 5:48Speaker 1: doors closed. Boring. Oh that's nice.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Yeah, sorry, let's talk Heather Hawthorne Doyle.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Okay, So she also directed a little daytime drama which
- 5:58Speaker 1: we were so excited for but didn't love in the end.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Is there a bit of a parallel to that to
- 6:03Speaker 1: this movie? For me? We haven't done first impressions. Go ahead,
- 6:07Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm gonna have to really think about it.
- 6:12Speaker 1: What else was there? According to Twitter user sleepy Kitty
- 6:19Speaker 1: pot which I think we should try to get on
- 6:22Speaker 1: the podcast because I don't know how this person knows
- 6:24Speaker 1: so much inside Hallmark stuff.
- 6:26Speaker 2: If you want the Hallmark insider information, you should be
- 6:29Speaker 2: following this person. I in my life have assumed it's
- 6:32Speaker 2: a woman. I have done no research. I don't actually
- 6:34Speaker 2: know that, but agree with Love. If you're listening, come
- 6:38Speaker 2: on the podcast.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, how do they know so much insider stuff?
- 6:43Speaker 1: It's got to be an inside person who works for Hallmark.
- 6:46Speaker 2: It has to be well, but she doesn't. They don't
- 6:50Speaker 2: just do Hallmark. If you scroll through their fee they
- 6:54Speaker 2: they do know quite a bit about Hallmark. But they
- 6:56Speaker 2: were talking all the network's holiday movies.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Really wow, all of them? Okay, So anyway, She tweeted
- 7:05Speaker 1: that Heather Hawthorne Doyle is also directing an upcoming Christmas
- 7:10Speaker 1: movie called a God Wink Christmas Miracle of Love, which
- 7:15Speaker 1: is a fourth in a series. Now, please tell me
- 7:17Speaker 1: have you seen these God week Wink movies?
- 7:20Speaker 2: I've seen one of them because one of them features
- 7:24Speaker 2: one of my favorite actresses whose name I cannot remember, Brooke.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Do you or say she's a Hallmark actress? But she's
- 7:32Speaker 2: been in a lot of things. She was in Royal Pains,
- 7:34Speaker 2: which is a show that I loved.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I have not seen all of the previous three.
- 7:40Speaker 2: But did you happen to see the timeline of what's
- 7:43Speaker 2: happening for Heather Hawthorne Doyle in terms of her movie
- 7:46Speaker 2: production direction schedule.
- 7:48Speaker 1: That this movie is set to begin in November.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Well, no, so production on Advice to Love by wrapped
- 7:56Speaker 2: on August twenty eighth. Okay, premiered on October sixteenth. That's
- 8:01Speaker 2: about a six week turnaround.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Today, October eighteenth, she begins production on a god week
- 8:07Speaker 2: Christmas Miracle of Love.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Oh okay, So because my note says that this Godwink
- 8:13Speaker 1: movie it was, is set to begin in November. But
- 8:15Speaker 1: maybe that's just old information. I'm pretty sure you have
- 8:17Speaker 1: old information and I'll tell you why.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Okay, Because on Heather Hawthorne Doyle's Instagram, she had posted
- 8:27Speaker 2: a photo on October sixth that said today was signed
- 8:30Speaker 2: and a half hours of zoom meetings, which means we're
- 8:32Speaker 2: halfway through prep, happy to be doing another Godwinks movie.
- 8:35Speaker 2: And then she has an image that says Godwink Christmas.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Heather Hawthorne Doyle director, and then she says tomorrow our
- 8:43Speaker 2: last movie debuts Monday, we go to camera with our
- 8:46Speaker 2: next one. It'll air in December. So it is possible
- 8:49Speaker 2: that she's working on two movies. But my ascension is
- 8:52Speaker 2: that's the Godwink. Yeah. Yeah, well that's some quick Hallmark turnaround.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yeah is October? When do you think this is gonna
- 9:01Speaker 1: come out like December. It's it said December in her posts.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Oh okay, we don't know where exactly the lineup this
- 9:09Speaker 1: is gonna fall. This could be movie number twenty four
- 9:12Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Well, and I think the Godwink movies typically are on
- 9:15Speaker 2: Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Oh so I.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Can look and see there are nine movies that will
- 9:23Speaker 2: be on that channel, and only the first three have names.
- 9:28Speaker 2: The Godwink does not have a release date as at
- 9:30Speaker 2: this point.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Got it?
- 9:32Speaker 2: Well?
- 9:32Speaker 1: Update on the IATZI is that how you say it? Yes?
- 9:36Speaker 1: Crazy subverted. Yeah, they reached a tentative deal Saturday night.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It's a true Hallmark ending.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I read that as well, and I hope that the
- 9:47Speaker 2: IPTO members got the deal that they were hoping for.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I bet Hamewark was sweating it, like we read
- 9:55Speaker 1: we announced forty forty one movies. Whatever it is.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Like, you know, there's a way around this, Hallmark, and
- 10:02Speaker 2: that's to not create your movies weeks before they debut.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Do not put the cart in front of the horse. Geez, Louise.
- 10:11Speaker 2: We also have Brooks Darnell in this movie. He was
- 10:14Speaker 2: in a winter getaway. All I have to say is
- 10:16Speaker 2: welcome Back? Well, that movie was awful, right a Winner
- 10:20Speaker 2: get Away? We did not like it?
- 10:22Speaker 1: Right, I enjoyed him though, I enjoy him a lot,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and I really enjoyed him in this movie too. Except
- 10:28Speaker 1: I hated this movie spoiler alert. Oh so that's your
- 10:31Speaker 1: first impression. Uh, snoozer, snoozer all around, so hard to watch.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I hated it.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I also found this boring, but I mostly thought it
- 10:42Speaker 2: was a fine movie with just whisper of fall, just
- 10:47Speaker 2: the faintest.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Like ugh whiff of fall. Okay, but did you like
- 10:55Speaker 1: this movie better than South Speech Love Go one billion person?
- 11:01Speaker 2: God?
- 11:03Speaker 1: Yeah, No, I couldn't stand it. I couldn't. I hate
- 11:08Speaker 1: it is so much.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Neither were good, neither are rewatchable. But this was a
- 11:15Speaker 2: perfectly serviceable. On in the background movie where a South
- 11:18Speaker 2: Beach Love I found irritating. Whoops, No, what did you
- 11:23Speaker 2: like about this movie?
- 11:25Speaker 1: I only liked Brooks therenell is that what? That's it?
- 11:30Speaker 1: That's that's it. Yeah. I thought he's like smooth and charmie.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He's got a great smile, he's better writing. This movie
- 11:38Speaker 1: just was like they were just like wah wah wah
- 11:41Speaker 1: wahh it just no, I hated it.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Is there something to be said that maybe Homewark doesn't
- 11:47Speaker 2: need to be making eighty I don't know what their
- 11:51Speaker 2: number is, seventy original movies every single year.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Well, that's what I was gonna say. Less is more, right, Like,
- 12:01Speaker 1: if you're gonna say you're gonna make Fall Harvest, is
- 12:06Speaker 1: gonna be your lineup? Put some freaking fall movies in it.
- 12:11Speaker 1: We have talked about it for six weeks. Here, give
- 12:13Speaker 1: me two or three, Like, I don't care if there's
- 12:16Speaker 1: two or three movies and your Fall Harvest lineup, don't
- 12:19Speaker 1: load it with movies that don't fall into that theme.
- 12:23Speaker 1: And don't load it with movies that are like perfectly
- 12:27Speaker 1: fine standalone movies. They don't need to fall in some
- 12:30Speaker 1: sort of you know, themed lineup. But how will they.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Create a checklist with them on their app.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Well, somebody is doing them a disservice. I think m hm.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I just think less is more is what I've learned
- 12:45Speaker 1: this year is less is more.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Indeed, so since you have nothing else, I will say
- 12:52Speaker 2: that the first thing on my list of likes was
- 12:54Speaker 2: Brooks starn All Enough said he was a highlight of
- 12:57Speaker 2: this movie. One other thing I liked is I think
- 12:59Speaker 2: air Westbrook plays the buttoned up and buy the book
- 13:03Speaker 2: Kendall very well. I think she was very believable as
- 13:06Speaker 2: someone who believed in her checklist to finding true love.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:13Speaker 2: The final thing that I liked was Joy's artwork. And
- 13:17Speaker 2: I tried to do some research to for who is
- 13:20Speaker 2: the artist, and I could find nothing. If you know
- 13:24Speaker 2: who the artist who created the artwork in this movie.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Please let us know.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I could not find any information about it. And I'm
- 13:31Speaker 2: a pretty good googler, but.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I noticed that too, especially the ones in her office
- 13:36Speaker 1: right right, And they were great and in Kendall's home.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, I think her office was inside
- 13:42Speaker 1: her home. I think you're right. Yes, I thought they
- 13:45Speaker 1: were great. Yeah, that's so funny. You can't find any
- 13:47Speaker 1: information on.
- 13:48Speaker 2: That, huh No, So if you know anything, please let
- 13:51Speaker 2: me know. I'd love to know more about that artist.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I do remember noticing that, right do you guys? Sneeze? Oh, yes,
- 14:00Speaker 1: there it is. So I'll tell you what I wished
- 14:03Speaker 1: for a better script. I just thought the writing was
- 14:08Speaker 1: so poor in this like it this okay, Yes, you
- 14:12Speaker 1: have opposites attract. That's basically what we're working with here, right.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I thought Kendall's character was super robotic and stiff, like
- 14:23Speaker 1: there was like nothing I liked about her, Like I
- 14:27Speaker 1: didn't find her warm, I didn't find her compatible to Nathan.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I just she was so buttoned up. You're right, she
- 14:39Speaker 1: was so buttoned up. And and her outfits. Why did
- 14:45Speaker 1: they dress her in these suits like she's a young
- 14:49Speaker 1: professional writer. Why is she dressed like she's going to
- 14:53Speaker 1: like a business meeting all the time? Yeah, I don't know.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I wish that there had been some affection between the leads.
- 15:03Speaker 1: They are actively dating.
- 15:06Speaker 2: They don't hold hands now, you're like brush shoulders. They're
- 15:10Speaker 2: not like sitting closely and like, oh, tuck a hair
- 15:14Speaker 2: behind the ear. We can still be at the hallmark
- 15:18Speaker 2: standard of affection and show. I needed some heat from
- 15:22Speaker 2: these two, and I got nothing. We got a tiny kiss.
- 15:25Speaker 1: At the end.
- 15:26Speaker 2: But this is not one of those movies where it's
- 15:28Speaker 2: enemies to lovers, where they hate each other the entire
- 15:30Speaker 2: time and then they fall in love in the last
- 15:31Speaker 2: forty seconds of the movie. They are actively dating. Throughout
- 15:34Speaker 2: the movie. They have conversations about, Oh, I really like you.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I think this could go somewhere. Let me be honest
- 15:39Speaker 2: with you about this thing, because I enjoy spending time
- 15:43Speaker 2: with you.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Yes, stop telling me and show me right. Yeah, A little.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Hug, a little kiss on the cheek for greeting.
- 15:50Speaker 1: We can nothing, I know, I know. Why do you
- 15:54Speaker 1: think that is? It can't be COVID direction. It can't
- 16:00Speaker 1: be COVID.
- 16:00Speaker 2: They're all vaccinated. It can't be COVID. There's no difference
- 16:03Speaker 2: between sitting next to someone all day long. No, they're
- 16:08Speaker 2: unmasked on set. I read something else that everybody on
- 16:11Speaker 2: this production was vaccinated. That could be untrue, but regardless,
- 16:16Speaker 2: I don't see a difference in walking side by side
- 16:19Speaker 2: and sharing.
- 16:20Speaker 1: A little affection.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I agree at some point, I don't think
- 16:24Speaker 2: it's a COVID thing. Yeah, I just they had zero
- 16:27Speaker 2: chemistry together and maybe it is just bad direction.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I needed to say that. I don't know, but.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I thought Brooks Darnell brought the heat. There were a
- 16:42Speaker 2: couple moments where he's like given her those smoldering eyes,
- 16:46Speaker 2: but there was no reciprocation and there was no attempt,
- 16:50Speaker 2: as far as I could tell, to make it seem
- 16:52Speaker 2: like these were two people who were flirting with each
- 16:54Speaker 2: other and enjoying getting to know each other, and they
- 16:56Speaker 2: went on multiple dates together.
- 16:59Speaker 1: He's buying her flowers, give me more. Yeah, I absolutely agree.
- 17:06Speaker 1: And you know I was wondering too, like what was
- 17:09Speaker 1: this a director choice or an actor choice for her?
- 17:12Speaker 1: For what's her name.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Again, Caggie Kindle, Maggie, Uh think you said the same thing.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I know the actress this week, Maggie. Okay, her name Sarah.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I just think that, like, why was she so like
- 17:28Speaker 1: just stiff, Like I have a hard time believing that
- 17:32Speaker 1: this woman who wrote two books about how to find
- 17:36Speaker 1: love is not lovable? She's so okay.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Franny's strategy for finding love is I'm going to do
- 17:46Speaker 2: all the right things to create chemistry. That's a direct
- 17:49Speaker 2: quote from the movie. Her strategy. She had a board
- 17:52Speaker 2: like she was trying to catch a serial killer in
- 17:54Speaker 2: terms of how she was going to make this relationship work.
- 17:58Speaker 2: She was not supposed to be charming and lovable because
- 18:01Speaker 2: her strategy is check, check, check, check, look deeply into
- 18:05Speaker 2: his eyes, do the things that he likes to do. Like,
- 18:09Speaker 2: I hated her method for finding love. And when her
- 18:14Speaker 2: sister is in a relationship and she was like it
- 18:16Speaker 2: was love first sight and she's like, yeah, that doesn't exist.
- 18:18Speaker 1: That's not for you to say totally so, but okay,
- 18:24Speaker 1: this is reminding me of like, what's the you know,
- 18:27Speaker 1: was there a book about like the Rules to Dating
- 18:30Speaker 1: or some crap like that. Yeah, from the Rules? Is
- 18:33Speaker 1: that what it's called the Rules? Like in the early
- 18:36Speaker 1: two thousands? Like, is that like a riff of this?
- 18:39Speaker 1: Is this movie like a riff of that? Hold on
- 18:42Speaker 1: the I don't think The Rules is early two thousands?
- 18:44Speaker 2: Hold on, is it nineties? The Rules is nineteen ninety five?
- 18:50Speaker 2: Oh wow, time tested secrets for capturing the heart of
- 18:53Speaker 2: mister Wright. But The Rules is less about how to
- 18:56Speaker 2: fall in love and more finding mister Wright how to
- 19:00Speaker 2: make him love you, which I think are very different things.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Because Kendall in this movie is trying to manufacture chemistry
- 19:09Speaker 2: by doing all of these things. She's not trying to
- 19:12Speaker 2: get him to fall in love with her. She's trying
- 19:14Speaker 2: to create a love connection by following a formula, which
- 19:18Speaker 2: is not.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Really how it works. I mean, feel free to disagree
- 19:25Speaker 1: with me, don't disagree with you at all.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Oh yes, I could see this being a little bit
- 19:31Speaker 2: of a riff on the rules. But the rules is
- 19:33Speaker 2: more like d's and don't like you know, I don't
- 19:38Speaker 2: have any idea of the content of it. But it's
- 19:39Speaker 2: more like don't you don't initiate contact or wait for
- 19:45Speaker 2: him to call you, or yeah, don't talk to a
- 19:49Speaker 2: man first, don't meet him halfway, or go dutch on
- 19:52Speaker 2: a date, don't call him and rarely return his calls.
- 19:54Speaker 2: The rules isn't about manufacturing chemistry. The rules is about like,
- 19:57Speaker 2: how do I keep him wanting more?
- 20:00Speaker 1: Oh?
- 20:00Speaker 2: All right, well but nice callback? Okay, you five? Man?
- 20:08Speaker 1: I know, like that was you know, twenty So maybe
- 20:13Speaker 1: I was a sophomore in high school. Well I'm just saying, like, man,
- 20:16Speaker 1: I was trying to land somebody. So maybe that's why
- 20:19Speaker 1: it's like sticking in my brain. I don't know. I
- 20:22Speaker 1: don't know. I did. I did meet my future husband
- 20:25Speaker 1: in nineteen ninety six, so but I did.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Not bobby him halfway or go down to on a date.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I don't remember, rarely returned his phone calls. That was
- 20:33Speaker 1: a long time ago, so I don't really remember. You
- 20:35Speaker 1: should ask him. I don't remember. You think he's gonna remember?
- 20:38Speaker 1: Come on, now, come on, now, can we move on
- 20:41Speaker 1: to did you see that? Please? I only have one. Okay,
- 20:47Speaker 1: book salad? Is that the stupidest name for a book store?
- 20:54Speaker 2: I couldn't even make it make sense?
- 20:56Speaker 1: No, because in Los Angeles there is a famous bookstore
- 20:59Speaker 1: called book Soup, right, And I was like, okay, is
- 21:02Speaker 1: this is this like some play on that, but books salad?
- 21:06Speaker 1: Like I don't understand book soup either, Like I don't
- 21:08Speaker 1: know the origin of that story, but I don't understand
- 21:12Speaker 1: book salad even more. Yes, I thought it was a
- 21:15Speaker 1: dumb name. We could do better. Hold on, I mean,
- 21:18Speaker 1: is there because salads are full of variety and that
- 21:23Speaker 1: bookstore it's full of book for you know, a variety
- 21:27Speaker 1: of books. I don't know. Okay, I hear you. I
- 21:32Speaker 1: don't know. I thought it was stupid. And they even
- 21:34Speaker 1: said he's like booksell a great name, terrible name.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Okay, IMDb is getting on the digits that stop it.
- 21:44Speaker 1: They had a are they giving us credit via section.
- 21:48Speaker 2: That says the married couple in the coffee shop is
- 21:52Speaker 2: an actual married couple?
- 21:55Speaker 1: Big effing deal. I'm on, so one bit of trivia
- 21:59Speaker 1: they got, that's it? Well, I guess some more trivia.
- 22:02Speaker 1: The dude that played Grant. This is like her friend,
- 22:05Speaker 1: the owner of the bookstore. Uh huh oh. Yeah. He
- 22:09Speaker 1: was also in Raise a Glass to Love from the
- 22:12Speaker 1: Hall from the Fall, from the Fall movies. My boyfriend,
- 22:18Speaker 1: his name was Aiden, I don't remember. That's her boyfriend,
- 22:22Speaker 1: the chef guy that she was pissed off about her Okay, yeah,
- 22:27Speaker 1: and he was also in Don't Go Break in My Heart,
- 22:30Speaker 1: which was also from twenty twenty one previously. Yeah. He's
- 22:34Speaker 1: you know, he's one of those he's one of those guys.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I think, busy supporting, actoring.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so I was pleased to say that I did
- 22:44Speaker 2: spy Fall in this movie at the farmer's market. Look,
- 22:48Speaker 2: at the very least we knew this was not summer.
- 22:50Speaker 2: They were wearing long sleeves. There's some outdoor scenes that
- 22:53Speaker 2: feel fall like, there's no actual fall content, but they
- 22:58Speaker 2: do go to a farmer's market, and in the background
- 23:00Speaker 2: of the farmer's market there's kind of a small motif
- 23:03Speaker 2: that has some like pumpkins and.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Leaves set up.
- 23:06Speaker 2: So at least we had that moment going for us.
- 23:11Speaker 1: They tried real hard.
- 23:13Speaker 2: This is barely a Fall movie, but at least it
- 23:15Speaker 2: is not blatantly a summer movie, right, So.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I appreciated that it still didn't do it for me
- 23:21Speaker 1: in terms of, like I really wanted, like Fall. Everything
- 23:27Speaker 1: like this, the Fall lineup makes me want to watch Christmas.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Movies, right, because there's yes, because you know, Christmas movies
- 23:35Speaker 2: are gonna go hard on all the Christmas motifs. Right,
- 23:39Speaker 2: as we've said, we will likely be very tired of
- 23:42Speaker 2: some of those things early on, But I, as of
- 23:45Speaker 2: this moment today, I'm very ready for it. In the
- 23:48Speaker 2: opening scene where Kendall is being interviewed on television and
- 23:51Speaker 2: she on the fly sets up audience members Jill and Mitchell,
- 23:55Speaker 2: very risky move because she does not know who they are,
- 23:58Speaker 2: and she finds Jill, well, what if Mitchell's a seventy seven.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Year old dude? Like they could have been very much
- 24:05Speaker 1: of a mismatch. How did she know?
- 24:08Speaker 2: Also, zero chance I would have gone out on the
- 24:11Speaker 2: date with the stranger from the audience.
- 24:13Speaker 1: But no, have you ever heard of the dating game killer? No?
- 24:17Speaker 1: Absolutely not, I actually haven't. But what not? No, that's
- 24:25Speaker 1: terrifying to me. I'll leave a link in her show notes.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Not going to do that, but hey, they found true love, so.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Well you know then maybe that was that Patti Stanger
- 24:33Speaker 1: influence was like this could work. I've done this. I
- 24:38Speaker 1: don't know.
- 24:38Speaker 2: You know, there was some confusion for me because she
- 24:43Speaker 2: writes these books about how to find love right, But
- 24:46Speaker 2: then all of her friends.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Are like, can you set me up? Can you set
- 24:49Speaker 1: me up?
- 24:50Speaker 2: Is someone who writes books about their fine love? Is
- 24:52Speaker 2: she the same thing as a matchmaker? Is that the
- 24:54Speaker 2: same thing?
- 24:55Speaker 1: I don't think so. I don't either. My other question
- 24:59Speaker 1: is her editor, yeah, that woman? Yeah?
- 25:02Speaker 2: Can someone please in the book industry, My understanding is
- 25:06Speaker 2: that your editor, this woman was acting like her agent
- 25:09Speaker 2: or her publicist. I feel like they needed to give
- 25:13Speaker 2: her a better title because it really chopped my high
- 25:17Speaker 2: that they kept calling her her editor. Her editor is
- 25:19Speaker 2: not involved in the creation of her next book. Her
- 25:23Speaker 2: editor is not involved in selling that book to the
- 25:25Speaker 2: marketing department. Her editor is not showing up at her events.
- 25:27Speaker 2: These are the work of your publicist or your agent.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Please give her a better title.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Please.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Someone in these movies have any knowledge of how the
- 25:34Speaker 2: book industry was because she called her her editor eight
- 25:37Speaker 2: hundred times and it didn't work for me.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Okay, did you notice like her whiteboard in her office
- 25:44Speaker 1: where it was like next book ideas, she would have
- 25:49Speaker 1: them written down on there. Did you notice that at all?
- 25:51Speaker 2: Okay, I did notice that, but her white point in
- 25:54Speaker 2: her office when she gets angry, she finds out that
- 25:59Speaker 2: Nathan has been not telling the truth about being mister Gabby. Yeah,
- 26:05Speaker 2: and she comes back and she angrily tries to erase
- 26:08Speaker 2: the whiteboard, but things have been written on the whiteboard
- 26:10Speaker 2: for so long that they won't erase, and so she
- 26:13Speaker 2: doesn't get that moment. I just love that she just
- 26:16Speaker 2: like scrubs at it and nothing goes away. And I
- 26:19Speaker 2: just you know, they can't do that scene twice because
- 26:24Speaker 2: it's been like a progressive crossing out and you know, they.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Haven't been rewriting it. Why would you.
- 26:28Speaker 2: But I don't think they had prepared for the fact that, oh,
- 26:30Speaker 2: if these things stay on the whiteboard for two weeks,
- 26:32Speaker 2: they're not.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Gonna come off very easily.
- 26:35Speaker 2: And it doesn't quite have the same ooph as coming
- 26:38Speaker 2: at it with a little clean spray and a paper down.
- 26:42Speaker 2: I just imagine the production team like, good enough, she
- 26:48Speaker 2: kind of smeared it.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Around a little bit. That'll do. Oh my god, I
- 26:52Speaker 1: wish we had a podcast called good Enough. That is
- 27:00Speaker 1: so funny. I didn't really notice that, but that thank
- 27:04Speaker 1: you for pointing that out. That is so funny. That
- 27:08Speaker 1: made me laugh. Yeah, do you have more? Did you
- 27:10Speaker 1: see that?
- 27:11Speaker 2: No?
- 27:11Speaker 1: But I have a interesting review on IMDb that I
- 27:16Speaker 1: want to just run way wait wait wait wait? Is
- 27:19Speaker 1: it the one that asks for American values? Yes?
- 27:22Speaker 2: It is. Okay, read it and it's so funny. Read it,
- 27:28Speaker 2: and then I have some commentary about it.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Okay, all right. It is titled another Hallmark Media flop.
- 27:37Speaker 1: This movie is straight out of the high volume movie factory,
- 27:40Speaker 1: which I note I kind of agree. No thought or
- 27:42Speaker 1: creativity in the storyline, no personal on screen connection between actors.
- 27:48Speaker 1: They simply recite memorize lines. This could be broadcast on
- 27:52Speaker 1: Lifetime Movie channel, how dare you CBS or any broadcast
- 27:57Speaker 1: channel simply by changing the title screens. The core problem
- 28:02Speaker 1: of Hallmark Media today is their senior leadership lacks leadership,
- 28:08Speaker 1: a sense of Hallmark culture, and a respect for American values.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Okay, what, First of all, what's an American value? No
- 28:20Speaker 2: such thing, Like, I know, lots of different people.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Lots of different values. But the thing about this review that.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Got me is it's broken into two paragraphs visually, and
- 28:30Speaker 2: the first paragraph is what you read, how about it's
- 28:33Speaker 2: a poorly produced movie. We have talked earlier in this
- 28:38Speaker 2: about perhaps Hallmark needs to focus on the less is
- 28:41Speaker 2: More philosophy. I agreed with that, but the second I
- 28:44Speaker 2: read the focus on American values. First of all, I
- 28:47Speaker 2: don't know in what way this movie violates someone's sense
- 28:50Speaker 2: of American values. We know, people get really up in
- 28:52Speaker 2: arms when there's the same sex couple in a Hallmark movie. Right,
- 28:57Speaker 2: perhaps the leads weren't white, so all of a sudden,
- 28:59Speaker 2: that's their issue.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I don't know. Do you think that's the issue? I
- 29:04Speaker 1: mean that feels like a big yellow arrow pointing to it.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Yeah, like their Karen on a giant I'm a racist sign.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Yeah, because somebody else could possibly be offensive about this movie.
- 29:15Speaker 1: It's offensively boring.
- 29:17Speaker 2: But other than that, so I could not bring myself
- 29:22Speaker 2: to agree with the first part of their comment because
- 29:24Speaker 2: the second part of their comment calls them out as
- 29:26Speaker 2: being a terrible human being.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I agree. I mean, like I said, less is More.
- 29:31Speaker 1: That's why I think I do agree with this straight
- 29:33Speaker 1: out of the high volume movie factory. But all everything
- 29:36Speaker 1: else is terrible. Like and it goes back to because
- 29:42Speaker 1: we talked about Hallmark did have some senior leadership who
- 29:46Speaker 1: was ousted, right, and now he is the head of GHAK.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Is that correct? So this person is unhappy with the
- 29:57Speaker 1: current leadership at Hallmark. But what does it mean a
- 30:01Speaker 1: sense of Hallmark culture? I don't know. I don't know
- 30:07Speaker 1: what that means. I'm just gonna click on this person
- 30:10Speaker 1: because I like to see what else that they are.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, wow, they've done a lot of movies from
- 30:17Speaker 1: fall lineup. They hated South Beach Love. Oh but here,
- 30:23Speaker 1: this is funny. There have been so many Hallmark movie
- 30:26Speaker 1: flops in the last eighteen months. I believe the only
- 30:28Speaker 1: way to fix the problem is a wholesale clean out
- 30:32Speaker 1: of Hallmark Media's executive suite. Oh. Interesting, This person is
- 30:37Speaker 1: just not happy that Hallmark is taking baby steps in
- 30:42Speaker 1: diversifying their actors and lineups and storylines and so on
- 30:47Speaker 1: and so forth.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Right, I hate to break it to this person, but
- 30:50Speaker 2: Hallmark is trying to make their lineup look a little
- 30:52Speaker 2: bit more like the actual America than the Hallmark America, light,
- 30:58Speaker 2: straight Christian America that they would like to live in.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Right right, Oh, my gosh, there's a lot of bad
- 31:04Speaker 1: reviews in the photos. It's like the cast is made
- 31:12Speaker 1: up of people of color. Several movies in the movie
- 31:17Speaker 1: A Christmas House that is a same sex storyline? Is
- 31:20Speaker 1: it not? It has the same sex storyline? Yep, hated
- 31:23Speaker 1: that movie. They said, yeah, yeah, yeah, So that's just like,
- 31:28Speaker 1: you know, putting their racism all over IMDb.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so racism is showing and your homophobia and yeah,
- 31:37Speaker 2: you're a garbage person.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Totally.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Okay, guys, you know what's not garbage? Christmas starts Friday.
- 31:49Speaker 2: That's tomorrow, Tomorrow, October twenty second.
