- 0:00The development of the vital life force integrated with the
- 0:04physical domain led to changes in the physical in order to
- 0:09accommodate the action of this new energy.
- 0:12At the same time, the life force had to itself make adjustments
- 0:17in order to operate in the material world as opposed to in
- 0:21its own domain, independent of matter.
- 0:25These adjustments limited the power and scope of the vital
- 0:29while expanding the capabilities of expression in the material
- 0:33world. Similarly, with the advent of
- 0:36the mental power in the world of matter and life, certain changes
- 0:41were brought about in the action of matter and life, but at the
- 0:45cost that mind had to also make certain accommodations such that
- 0:50its action was limited and modified by the constraints of
- 0:55matter and life. An interactive, mutually
- 0:59supportive relationship was developed, and this gave the
- 1:02physical body and the life force certain abilities to influence
- 1:06the mind and achieve thereby certain objectives native to
- 1:10their domains. Although not necessarily
- 1:13relevant to a purely mental action, these steps in the
- 1:18evolution of consciousness clearly advanced the power and
- 1:21action of consciousness in the material world.
- 1:25Each new power brings something valuable and unique to the
- 1:28manifestation of our universe. Each power strives to enhance
- 1:33its own action and influence the others.
- 1:37The mental power is no different.
- 1:40Human beings have recognized the trade-offs and limitations
- 1:43involved and have striven to find a way to create a more
- 1:47powerful, more concentrated and more pure mental action in the
- 1:52world. In order to do this, some have
- 1:56tried to simply abandon or suppress the external life and
- 2:00its demands. Others have focused on trying to
- 2:03shift their concentration purely into the mental realm,
- 2:07disregarding as much as possible the demands of life and body.
- 2:13Still others have attempted to impose the powers of the mind on
- 2:16the life energy and the physical existence.
- 2:20We have strong and visible evidence of the impacts of mind
- 2:23on life and matter all around us as we see mind inventing,
- 2:28reshaping and redirecting the other principles, albeit with
- 2:34many unintended consequences that need to be addressed to
- 2:38establish a long term beneficial action.
- 2:42Much of this is done through the development of technological
- 2:46aids, yet the inherent power of the mind is not dependent on
- 2:50such aids. For this reason, modern research
- 2:54is taking up the questions long posed by yogic practitioners,
- 2:59namely how to go about liberating and deploying the
- 3:03innate powers of mind. Research into occult sciences
- 3:08such as clairvoyance, clairaudience, telekinesis,
- 3:13remote viewing and powers to operate technology purely
- 3:17through the power of thought and concentration.
- 3:20Our first forays into this attempt in the West.
- 3:24In India, powers developed through concentration to pasya
- 3:29as well as breath control, Pranayam and the development of
- 3:34a state of inner silence and yogic trance.
- 3:37Tyana and samati have shown remarkable results in freeing
- 3:42the mind from the control and influence of the vital.
- 3:46Much of this action in reality is the influence of yet higher
- 3:49statuses of consciousness acting through the being and
- 3:54establishing their initial presence in the evolutionary
- 3:57cycle of which we are apart. Much work remains to be done to
- 4:02fully establish the mind as the true leader of the life and
- 4:06body. Currently, the mind is in fact
- 4:10very much manipulated by the vital energy in order to carry
- 4:14out the desires and impulsions proposed by the vital.
- 4:19Only through serious inner observation can the mind free
- 4:23itself from this subjection. In the end, the Mount Mental
- 4:28force itself is a limited power and is therefore unable to gain
- 4:32fully control and mastery according to its aspiration.
- 4:39It is the advent of a yet higher power of consciousness that can
- 4:42fully see, organize, understand and control body, life and mind
- 4:50that such mastery can truly result.
- 4:53And this in turn needs the guidance of the true soul, the
- 4:58psychic being, to turn the focus on contacting, receiving and
- 5:05expressing the next level of conscious evolution in the
- 5:08world. Shrioro Bindo notes quote a
- 5:13certain fundamental subjection of mind to life and matter, and
- 5:18an acceptance of this subjection.
- 5:21An inability to make the law of mind directly dominant and
- 5:25modify by its powers the blinder law and operations of these
- 5:29inferior forces of being, remains even in the midst of our
- 5:34greatest mental mastery over self and things.
- 5:38But this limitation is not insuperable.
- 5:41It is the interest of occult knowledge that it shows us, and
- 5:45a dynamic force of spiritual knowledge brings us the same
- 5:49evidence that this subjection of mind to matter of the spirit to
- 5:55a lesser law of life, is not what it at first appears to be,
- 6:00a fundamental condition of things, an inviolable and
- 6:04unalterable rule of nature. The greatest, most momentous
- 6:08natural discovery that man can make is this, that mind, and
- 6:13still more the force of the Spirit, can in many tried and
- 6:18yet untried ways and in all directions, by its own nature
- 6:23and direct power, and not only by devices and contrivances such
- 6:27as the superior material instrumentation discovered by
- 6:31physical science. Overcome and control life and
- 6:37matter. End Quote.
