- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Writer, where we share a lesson each day to help you cultivate the habits for creative success.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: It's a simple yet important question.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Why do you write?
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Well, there are a lot of reasons that people write.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Some people want to build a brand.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Some people want to make money.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Some people just want a creative outlet.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Some people want to leave a legacy, and yet others just want to prove the naysayers wrong.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Well, all of those reasons have their place, but there's another good reason that's rarely talked about.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Here's what the young adult author John Green said.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Don't make stuff because you want to make money.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: It will never make you enough money.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: And don't make stuff because you want to get famous, because you will never feel famous enough.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Make gifts for people.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: And work hard on making those gifts in the hope that those people will notice and like the gifts.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: When we look at our writing as a gift, it puts a whole different spin on it.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Instead of making just a product, we're making something that comes from the heart, something that can bless other people.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Of course, your writing can be a gift as well as a product, but it must begin as a gift that you're giving to the world.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: So what gift can you give others today through your writing?
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Hey, thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: If you've been listening to this show any length of time, you know that one of the four practices of a great writer is creativity.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And in order to stay creative, you've got to have great input.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And that's where writing prompts come in.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: A writing prompt is a sentence or two that helps you break through creative blocks, brainstorm new ideas, and get back into a state of flow.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Writing prompts are a fantastic creative tool for journaling, storytelling, stress relief, and much more.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: But they're not just for your own private writing.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: You can also use writing prompts as a creative tool for speaking, teaching, social media posts, podcasting, and much more.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Every single day for the next year, you can get an email with a writing prompt, and we have a limited time pricing of five bucks a month, which is an amazing deal for a creative tool that can inspire you every single day.
