- 0:27This is alive. One of my favorite scenes in the
- 0:31film Casablanca, which is filled with great scenes.
- 0:36By the way, it is my favorite movie is when the older couple
- 0:42the loose tugs invite Carl over to the table to have a drink
- 0:48with them because they're celebrating, the fact that the
- 0:50next day, they're leaving for America.
- 0:54And they talked about the fact that they're going Going to
- 1:00speak only the English from now on, because that way they will
- 1:03feel at home when they get to their new home in America.
- 1:08There's a little pause and by way of example, mr.
- 1:12Loose dog says to his wife the option which watch and she says,
- 1:1910 watch. He says such watch.
- 1:23Carl says to them, you'll get along beautifully in America.
- 1:28It's a it's an example of assimilation in a way that is
- 1:36positive. Assimilation is one of those
- 1:39terms that we talked about and depending on the context we're
- 1:45talking about it in it can be positive or negative.
- 1:50History is full of negative. Assimilation.
- 1:55It's full of forced assimilation, we're on a macro
- 1:59basis, a culture, a people, and ideology a religion are attacked
- 2:09and forced to changed forced to assimilate into something else,
- 2:14of course, I'm Jewish. So my mind immediately goes to
- 2:19multiple attempts to force Jews to convert to something.
- 2:23Else, the Spanish Inquisition in 1492 in the 1490s expulsion Xin.
- 2:30The likes of that convert on pain of death or or whatever
- 2:35there's that. But of course, there's the whole
- 2:38story of Hanukkah, which of course deals.
- 2:41With the forced assimilation of the Jewish nation, into the
- 2:45Greco world, the Greek ideologies, the elimination of
- 2:51certain religious practices, specifically Torah study and
- 2:55circumcision, And fighting back to prevent that forced
- 3:01assimilation. That's a couple of examples from
- 3:06my own faith but there are others as well.
- 3:09I mean, throughout American history, we've seen attempts at
- 3:15forced assimilation. Think particularly of the
- 3:20Conquistadors coming to the new world and forcing.
- 3:25The Mayans, the Aztecs, the natives to convert to
- 3:30Christianity and the spread of Spanish Catholicism throughout
- 3:36the Western Hemisphere particularly in the western
- 3:40portions of North America. And South America for that
- 3:45matter. Even today, there's a lot of
- 3:49controversy about whether or not that forced assimilation, that
- 3:53forced conversion was. A crime or not.
- 3:59I mean I'm not it's not the place I want to go today, but
- 4:03we've seen in recent years in California, where you know what?
- 4:08What once was held up as an example of the culture of
- 4:12California. The mission culture has now been
- 4:16torn down because of the ideas of the Conquistadors and those
- 4:20who followed on from. There are of course examples in
- 4:24our own United States history of Of forced macro, assimilations,
- 4:29where we attempted in many cases to Simply eradicate the Native
- 4:35Americans. There were many leaders at the
- 4:38Times who said those things. But, but the general idea was to
- 4:41convert them to Christianity convert them to the white man's
- 4:44ways and force them to live, not as Native Americans.
- 4:49But as essentially white Americans, one of the greatest
- 4:53songs of the 60s that Paul Revere, and the Raiders Raiders
- 4:59is fantastic song talks about this when I was growing up there
- 5:04was a story record. We used to have these records
- 5:07and it was the story of a young Indian who Grew up in his ways
- 5:16and then was forced off his lands and forced to choose
- 5:21whether he was going to assimilate or whether he was
- 5:24going to essentially die. I wish I could find that record.
- 5:27It was had some great songs on it.
- 5:31Anyway those are just examples of forced macro assimilations
- 5:35throughout history and this idea that you can force people to
- 5:40change to be what you want them to be.
- 5:42And most cases forced macro assimilations tend to fail
- 5:47because they're resisted their seen for what they are.
- 5:51And while they might be successful and I'm doing the air
- 5:55quote thing here in the sense of forcing a national policy in the
- 6:00end. They tend not to work out very
- 6:02well. But then, there are micro
- 6:05assimilations. The mill sir.
- 6:08Prior and I were talking last week.
- 6:10It was a, it was a wide-ranging conversation that started by the
- 6:13way, about the the Air National Guardsmen who leaked the
- 6:19information and I was Venting to him about it and this
- 6:26conversation as. So often happens with us, went
- 6:31in different directions and the middle surpri, der Mike who has
- 6:37a different Background that I do.
- 6:42We have a love of History, we share that love of History, we
- 6:46share the love of philosophy of History.
- 6:48I think that's what I'm really coming to learn is that we have
- 6:52a Serious. Desire to study the philosophy
- 6:58of history as will Durant would have called it.
- 7:01And so our conversations tend to get off in two different
- 7:07directions. And one of the things that the
- 7:10null surprised her and I were talking about, was this idea of
- 7:12assimilation in into societal issues because we were talking
- 7:18about how these young people today in the military, don't
- 7:23seem to have the same passion for patriotism or nationalism,
- 7:30if it whatever, whatever word you want to use there that we
- 7:33once had The the idea that he shared with me is that
- 7:40assimilation is not always wrong particular, when we consider how
- 7:44Society changes through the years, I grew up as, you know,
- 7:47in the 1960s and 1970s, this nation is a much different
- 7:52Nation today than it was, then we have changed in racial
- 7:57issues. Now, I know that there's a lot
- 7:59of discussion today about race and those kinds of things, but
- 8:03I'm telling you, I grew up in a much different World that
- 8:06doesn't exist anymore. That micro assimilation of
- 8:09society changed. How we see those things
- 8:12politically things have changed. But these micro assimilations
- 8:18can also be somewhat Insidious. As I said we we started out
- 8:23talking about classified materials and the idea of
- 8:27military people young military people in the way that they do
- 8:30things. but we ended up talking about this concept of
- 8:36assimilation, which I have been thinking about for several weeks
- 8:38by the way, And essentially I've been thinking about this concept
- 8:44of assimilation particularly from a cultural standpoint.
- 8:47Since the day the Dylan Dylan Mulvaney beer cans came out.
- 8:53One of the things that the mill surprise are said to me was that
- 8:57assimilation is or can be a survival skill.
- 9:02Now he was talking about specifically the projects
- 9:06growing up in the projects. Now, I don't know that Mike grew
- 9:10up in the projects, I assume that he did but that's an
- 9:13assumption on my part. My experience was much
- 9:17different. My experience with that is based
- 9:22primarily in dealing in Social Services with people who lived
- 9:26in the projects and he was right.
- 9:29Assimilation is a survival skill.
- 9:31It's something that allows a person who lives in a certain
- 9:35environment who may not necessarily agree with the
- 9:38concepts, the ideas. The behaviors of that particular
- 9:45society to function within it by assimilating and at least
- 9:51presenting the idea that they support these things.
- 9:56Just by way, of example, when I was in Portsmouth, Virginia, I
- 10:01used to take 30 days off every year to run the Salvation Army,
- 10:04Christmas Kettle program in Portsmouth Virginia and we hired
- 10:10a great number of single mothers many of whom lived in the
- 10:15projects and I remember the date very well, it was November 30th.
- 10:19I was taking them home that night after the long work day
- 10:23and as we pulled into the projects there and Portsmouth
- 10:28Keep in mind. I am a sailor from Utah.
- 10:33I'm 25 26 years old, maybe I'm not, I'm not very old, don't
- 10:41have a lot of life experience, outside of the Navy and
- 10:43submarines. But as we pull in there, one of
- 10:46the, one of the girl says to me now, you know, we won't be
- 10:49working tomorrow. Didn't know that and I, you
- 10:53know, kind of said, I kind of went into boss mode.
- 10:56Okay, why? And she looked at me and said
- 11:00it's Mother's Day. Tomorrow is Mother's Day.
- 11:05Now, this was 1980. I want to say nine somewhere in
- 11:11there. I had no idea what she was
- 11:14talking about, but this is an example of cultural assimilation
- 11:17where these gals had assimilated into the culture of living in
- 11:23the projects with which meant that on the first of the month,
- 11:26you stay at home, you didn't leave, you didn't go anywhere
- 11:29until the mail, was delivered. Why?
- 11:30Because that was the day that The welfare checks were
- 11:33delivered and if you weren't there, it was very likely to
- 11:37have been stolen. I didn't know that they thought
- 11:42it was funny that I didn't know that they explained it to me and
- 11:44I said, okay, well I understand we'll we'll make do without it.
- 11:49Will you gotta do what you gotta do.
- 11:53Assimilation of that nature. When you when you live in a
- 11:58society that dictates how you they didn't want to stay home,
- 12:01they wanted to go to work, they want to get paid.
- 12:03They wanted both the Dignity of the job and the paycheck, but
- 12:06they also knew that if they didn't They would be taken
- 12:10advantage of this idea of a simulation is a survival skill,
- 12:15which is what most are. Brighter, said to me, really hit
- 12:18home with me. I mean, it really did. because,
- 12:24The more you look around, the more you see this happening each
- 12:29and every day. When we talk about cultural
- 12:33assimilation here in the United States, here in the modern
- 12:36America, you don't have to look far, you do not have to open up
- 12:42much of a newspaper or if you still read a newspaper or a
- 12:46website to discover that if you do, not assimilate, if you do
- 12:50not accept certain things, if you do not at least present that
- 12:56you accept those certain things. You're very quickly going to be
- 13:01ostracized, if not in today's language canceled, we saw this
- 13:09with the Dylan Mulvaney thing. We continue to see it with the
- 13:13lgbtq, and I don't even like that phrase.
- 13:17I I would almost limit this to the transgender agenda rather
- 13:22than the full lgbtq+ ideology, because it's really the The
- 13:28trans agenda that's driving us. If you don't come out in support
- 13:32of it, if you don't assimilate, if you don't join in, you're the
- 13:39crazy bigot, your the problem, you're the person who is still
- 13:46stuck, you know, in the past and you're the problem.
- 13:50We continue to see this over and over again.
- 13:53After the cans came out, we saw the president of marketing for a
- 13:58Bud Light come out and explain to us that it was just a bunch
- 14:00of rural, cisgendered Hicks that were objecting to this that that
- 14:05this being forced down the throats of beer, drinkers
- 14:08everywhere was just you know it was just a bunch of people who
- 14:16are bigots and they need to get with the they need to get with
- 14:20the agenda and if they're not going to get with the agenda.
- 14:22Well then they're the problem. Well, in this particular case it
- 14:26didn't quite work out because the AI think what they were
- 14:29trying to do was shift from my micro assimilation to a macro
- 14:33assimilation. And as we know, macro
- 14:35assimilations tend to fail But on a microsystem, we still see
- 14:42it every day. Don't we?
- 14:44If you don't if you question anything when it comes to the
- 14:49transgender agenda, you're the biggest The shooting in
- 14:56Nashville, who's the victim here?
- 14:58Is that the six people that were killed or the shooter?
- 15:02The ideology that's being presented as part of this
- 15:07assimilate, that's micro assimilation of cultural
- 15:10ideology. We're being told that our right
- 15:14to free speech. Our right to free expression is
- 15:18no longer important because you can't question these things.
- 15:22You cannot do that or else you are the crazy bigoted and you
- 15:28need to be canceled. And so we tend to as a society
- 15:34maybe not you personally but we tend to adapt an assimilation.
- 15:39As a survival skill, we don't want to get into these stupid
- 15:42arguments and so we tend to go along to get along.
- 15:49Because we don't want to be labeled as the crazy bigot.
- 15:54Back in the 1930s and Soviet Union. there was a guy who
- 16:01decided, That genetics was nonsense.
- 16:06He did. He determined that this idea of
- 16:10crossbreeding grain to create a more robust wheat.
- 16:17All of that stuff was was nonsense.
- 16:20He decided that you could simply teach not making this up, folks,
- 16:25you can go. Look it up yourself, you could
- 16:27simply teach communist Marxist principles to plants.
- 16:33And they would adopt those plant those ideologies.
- 16:36They would convert as it were to Marxism socialism and that they
- 16:42would begin to function as good Marxist plants.
- 16:46This guy's name was Li Cinco and his idea was simply to force
- 16:55plants to assimilate into Marxist Society.
- 16:59Now this was complete nonsense, of course.
- 17:02And the truth, was that, every scientist in the Soviet Union
- 17:07knew that it was nonsense. But the danger was that Li Cinco
- 17:11was good friends with Joseph Stalin.
- 17:15And so, if you disagreed with lisak, oh you were likely to get
- 17:20thrown in the gulag if not shot. And so they began to assimilate
- 17:25into this complete and utter nonsense.
- 17:27This idea that you could teach a plant, an orange tree to bloom
- 17:34in November and December in the Soviet Union because the orange
- 17:38tree had adopted Marxist principles.
- 17:43You know, you hear the story about The Emperor's New Clothes,
- 17:45you go all. It's just a, you know, so
- 17:47metaphor this actually happened, folks, and millions of people
- 17:52starved to death, because the Soviet Union couldn't grow any
- 17:55grain. Because Li Cinco had convinced
- 18:00them that all they had to do was teach the grains.
- 18:02All they had to do is teach the plants, Marxist principles and
- 18:06everything, would be great. And the scientists who knew
- 18:09better, we're forced to assimilate.
- 18:13And the truth. Got suppressed and common-sense
- 18:18got erased. And the truth went away.
- 18:24You know it's a it's a sad fact Liberty cannot survive cultural
- 18:28assimilation. It just can't if we put
- 18:32ourselves in the position where we can't question anything where
- 18:35we can't talk about anything with it with a right to free
- 18:38speech goes away because it might offend some on, we lose
- 18:44liver, Liberty goes away, you can no longer determine
- 18:47yourself. Plan your self-determination
- 18:51anymore. If you're being told that, if
- 18:53you do not accept crazy stuff, you're just a bigot, and you
- 18:59need to assimilate, And reality is most people are going to
- 19:06because it's a survival skill and they don't want to be
- 19:08canceled, they don't want to lose their jobs, they don't want
- 19:11to be ostracized by Society. Even though you have as in the
- 19:17Soviet Union, you have one guy teaching this.
- 19:21It's a very small percentage of America teaching this idea that
- 19:26a man can be a woman and a woman can be a man. but it's loud
- 19:30enough and it's crazy enough that it's forcing.
- 19:39This cultural assimilation. This is how you end up with
- 19:42Dylan Mulvaney on a beer can not.
- 19:45Because Dylan Mulvaney has ever done anything worthwhile.
- 19:47Certainly hasn't done anything for this nation, but he's an
- 19:51influencer and by definition influencers, like like Cinco are
- 19:57out sized. They have more influence than
- 20:01they should. Because what they're teaching is
- 20:04crazy. And yet somehow or another
- 20:09because we assimilate into this cultural idea, we go along with
- 20:15Liberty, can't survive that And especially on this day April
- 20:2019th. We are reminded that we as
- 20:23Americans hold Liberty Above All Else.
- 20:26You have the Liberty to pretend that you're a woman.
- 20:29If you're a guy, And you have the Liberty to pretend you're a
- 20:33guy. If you're a girl, you can do
- 20:35that if you want, what you cannot do.
- 20:38Is tell everybody else that they have to go along with it because
- 20:41otherwise, it's literally no different than Li Cinco ISM.
- 20:44It's no different than forced assimilation you are.
- 20:50Forcing people to give up their own self-determination for your
- 20:55own desires. That's not Liberty, that's
- 21:00tyranny. And it was this day in 1775 that
- 21:05Minute. Men stood on Lexington Green and
- 21:10said, you're not going to do that to us.
- 21:12You are not going to force us to assimilate into what you want us
- 21:16to be. We are free men.
- 21:20We have Liberty above all else, we are fighting for Liberty, I
- 21:28really think that it's that lack of understanding that
- 21:31unwillingness to accept Liberty, not just Freedom Liberty, which
- 21:38is why so many people are trying to make us culturally
- 21:40assimilate, and force us to shut up and just to not be able to
- 21:45say the truth. The question is like the Soviet
- 21:49Union, how many people are going to die?
- 21:52Because of the stupidity, how many people are going to die?
- 21:55Because some people want to force their will on everyone
- 21:59else. Rather than to Simply as Thomas
- 22:02Jefferson would have said, allow people to live their own lives,
- 22:06the way they want to live them without forcing their way into
- 22:09my pockets or forcing their way into my belief system.
- 22:17I don't know where this is going to end up.
- 22:18I really doubt, but I do know that assimilation is a survival
- 22:23skill and as more and more Americans, assimilate into this
- 22:27idea that a man can be a woman. It will erase more and more
- 22:34Liberty that should concern us deeply.
- 22:40Take the time right now. Tell the people that matter in
- 22:41your life. You love them very much.
- 22:43You'd miss them if they weren't there.
- 22:44So don't pass up those opportunities.
- 22:46You don't want to have that regret plausibly live.
- 22:48I'm Dave, Bowman will see you next time, Dave Bowman show.
