  If
• 0:56
  you
• 0:56
  see
• 0:56
  it,
• 0:57
  their
• 0:57
  reviews
• 0:58
  gradually
• 0:58
  getting
• 0:58
  worse
• 0:59
  and
• 0:59
  worse
• 0:59
  and
• 0:59
  worse.
• 1:00
  And
• 1:00
  more
• 1:00
  recently
• 1:01
  they've
• 1:01
  had
• 1:01
  some
• 1:01
  really
• 1:01
  bad
• 1:02
  ones.
• 1:02
  That
• 1:03
  is
• 1:03
  a
• 1:03
  sign
• 1:03
  that
• 1:04
  this,
• 1:04
  this
• 1:04
  contractor
• 1:05
  is
• 1:05
  probably
• 1:05
  having
• 1:06
  financial
• 1:06
  difficulties.
• 1:07
  And
• 1:07
  you
• 1:07
  know,
• 1:07
  it's
• 1:08
  just
• 1:08
  a
• 1:08
  matter
• 1:08
  of
• 1:08
  time
• 1:08
  before
• 1:09
  the
• 1:09
  music
• 1:09
  stops
• 1:10
  and
• 1:10
  you're
• 1:10
  left
• 1:10
  without
• 1:10
  a
• 1:11
  chair
• 1:11
  to
• 1:11
  sit
• 1:11
  in.
• 1:11
  And
• 1:12
  you
• 1:12
  know
• 1:12
  that
• 1:12
  it's
• 1:12
  going
• 1:12
  to
• 1:13
  land
• 1:13
  in
• 1:13
  somebody's
• 1:14
  unfortunate
• 1:14
  lap
• 1:14
  when,
• 1:15
  when
• 1:15
  things
• 1:15
  finally
• 1:15
  implode
• 1:16
  on
• 1:16
  that
• 1:16
  contractor.
• 1:17
  So
• 1:17
  that's,
• 1:17
  that's
• 1:18
  something
• 1:18
  that
• 1:18
  we
• 1:18
  always
• 1:18
  encour
• 1:19
  to
• 1:19
  look
• 1:19
  for
• 1:20
  and
• 1:20
  we
• 1:20
  look
• 1:20
  for
• 1:20
  it
• 1:20
  for
• 1:20
  them
• 1:20
  if
• 1:21
  they,
• 1:21
  you
• 1:21
  know,
• 1:22
  like
• 1:22
  for
• 1:22
  us
• 1:22
  to
• 1:22
  do
• 1:22
  so.
• 1:23
  That
• 1:23
  is
• 1:23
  so
• 1:23
  smart
• 1:24
  because
• 1:24
  how
• 1:25
  the
• 1:25
  traditional
• 1:26
  contractor
• 1:26
  goes
• 1:27
  under
• 1:27
  is
• 1:28
  that
• 1:28
  they're
• 1:28
  taking,
• 1:29
  you
• 1:29
  know,
• 1:29
  they're
• 1:29
  robbing
• 1:30
  Peter
• 1:30
  to
• 1:30
  pay
• 1:30
  Paul.
• 1:31
  So
• 1:31
  you
• 1:31
  know
• 1:32
  when
• 1:32
  your
• 1:33
  final
• 1:33
  check
• 1:33
  is
• 1:34
  paying
• 1:34
  that
• 1:34
  you're
• 1:34
  writing
• 1:35
  to
• 1:35
  them
• 1:35
  is
• 1:35
  actually
• 1:36
  paying
• 1:36
  for
• 1:36
  the
• 1:36
  next
• 1:36
  job.
• 1:37
  Yes,
• 1:37
  that's
• 1:38
  exactly
• 1:38
  right.
• 1:38
  And
• 1:38
  they're
• 1:39
  just
• 1:39
  trying
• 1:39
  to
• 1:39
  pay
• 1:40
  it
• 1:40
  forward.
• 1:40
  And
• 1:41
  like
• 1:41
  you
• 1:41
  said,
• 1:41
  that's
• 1:41
  a
• 1:42
  great
• 1:42
  analogy.
• 1:42
  When
• 1:42
  the
• 1:42
  music
• 1:43
  stops.
• 1:44
  When
• 1:44
  it
• 1:44
  comes
• 1:44
  to
• 1:45
  remodeling
• 1:45
  or
• 1:46
  renovating
• 1:46
  your
• 1:46

• 1:47
  there
• 1:47
  is
• 1:48
  a
• 1:48
  lot
• 1:48
  to
• 1:48
  know
• 1:49
  and

  an
• 2:10
  education
• 2:11
  for

  you.
• 2:12
  It
• 2:12
  doesn't
• 2:12
  matter
• 2:12
  if
• 2:12
  you're
• 2:13
  a
• 2:13
  homeowner,
• 2:13
  a
• 2:14
  builder,
• 2:14
  remodeler,
• 2:15
  this

  is

  all
• 2:16
  going

  to

• 2:30
  Great
• 2:30
  man,
• 2:31
  thanks.
• 2:31
  It's
• 2:32
  really
• 2:32
  good
• 2:32
  to
• 2:32
  be
• 2:32
  here.
• 2:32
  It's
• 2:32
  nice
• 2:32
  to
• 2:33
  see
• 2:33
  you,
• 2:33
  man.
• 2:34
  It's
• 2:34
  nice
• 2:34
  to
• 2:34
  see
• 2:34
  you.
• 2:35
  And
• 2:35
  this
• 2:35
  is
• 2:36
  such
• 2:36
  a
• 2:36
  hot
• 2:37
  topic
• 2:37
  and
• 2:38
  I
• 2:38
  love
• 2:38
  chatting
• 2:38
  with
• 2:39
  people
• 2:39
  like
• 2:39
  you
• 2:39
  about
• 2:39
  this
• 2:40
  stuff
• 2:40
  because
• 2:40
  usually
• 2:41
  I'm
• 2:41
  out
• 2:41
  there
• 2:42
  waving
• 2:42
  the
• 2:42
  flag
• 2:42
  alone
• 2:43
  going
• 2:44
  there's
• 2:44
  a
• 2:44
  lot
• 2:44
  that
• 2:45
  you
• 2:45
  need
• 2:45
  to
• 2:45
  know
• 2:45
  with
• 2:45
  this
• 2:46
  stuff.
• 2:46
  And
• 2:46
  it
• 2:46
  doesn't
• 2:46
  matter
• 2:46
  if
• 2:47
  you're
• 2:47
  starting
• 2:47
  your
• 2:47
  own
• 2:47
  little
• 2:48
  first
• 2:48
  remodeling
• 2:49
  project
• 2:49
  and
• 2:50
  you
• 2:50
  got
• 2:50
  a
• 2:50
  couple
• 2:50
  of
• 2:50
  contractors
• 2:51
  showing
• 2:51
  over
• 2:52
  you're
• 2:52
  building
• 2:52
  a
• 2:52
  house
• 2:53
  or
• 2:53
  if
• 2:53
  you're
• 2:53
  a
• 2:53
  brand
• 2:53
  new
• 2:53
  remodeler.
• 2:54
  It's
• 2:55
  important
• 2:55
  for
• 2:55
  everybody.
• 2:56
  It
• 2:57
  is.
• 2:57
  And
• 2:57
  you
• 2:57
  know
• 2:57
  what?
• 2:57
  Homeowners
• 2:58
  are
• 2:58
  at
• 2:58
  such
• 2:58
  A
• 2:58
  disadvantage.
• 2:59
  They
• 2:59
  just
• 2:59
  don't
• 3:00
  know
• 3:00
  what
• 3:00
  they
• 3:00
  don't
• 3:00
  know.
• 3:01
  And
• 3:01
  they're
• 3:01
  in
• 3:01
  such
• 3:02
  need
• 3:02
  of
• 3:02
  protection.
• 3:02
  And
• 3:03
  they
• 3:03
  can
• 3:03
  really.
• 3:03
  Florida
• 3:04
  is
• 3:04
  one
• 3:04
  of
• 3:04
  those
• 3:05
  states
• 3:05
  also
• 3:05
  where
• 3:05
  they
• 3:06
  do
• 3:06
  they
• 3:06
  make
• 3:07
  it
• 3:07
  a
• 3:07
  little
• 3:07
  more
• 3:07
  difficult
• 3:07
  to
• 3:08
  protect
• 3:08
  the
• 3:08
  consumer.
• 3:09
  So
• 3:09
  that's
• 3:10
  really
• 3:10
  kind
• 3:10
  of,
• 3:10
  it's
• 3:10
  motivating
• 3:11
  for
• 3:11
  me
• 3:11
  and
• 3:11
  it's
• 3:11
  motivating
• 3:12
  for
• 3:12
  my
• 3:12
  staff
• 3:13
  here
• 3:13
  to
• 3:13
  see
• 3:13
  what
• 3:13
  we
• 3:13
  could
• 3:13
  do
• 3:13
  to
• 3:14
  best
• 3:14
  protect
• 3:14
  people,
• 3:15
  to
• 3:15
  have,
• 3:15
  you
• 3:16
  know,
• 3:16
  the
• 3:16
  projects
• 3:17
  of
• 3:17
  the
• 3:17
  dreams,
• 3:17
  the
• 3:17
  ones
• 3:17
  that
• 3:18
  they're
• 3:18
  envisioning
• 3:19
  in
• 3:19
  their
• 3:19
  heads
• 3:19
  when
• 3:19
  they
• 3:19
  start.
• 3:20
  Yeah.
• 3:20
  And
• 3:21
  you
• 3:21
  know,
• 3:21
  it's
• 3:21
  interesting.
• 3:21
  And
• 3:22
  from
• 3:23
  the
• 3:23
  builder
• 3:23
  side
• 3:23
  and
• 3:24
  the
• 3:25
  residential
• 3:25
  homeowner
• 3:26
  side,
• 3:26
  you
• 3:26
  know,
• 3:27
  there's
• 3:27
  a
• 3:27
  lot
• 3:27
  of
• 3:27
  homeowners
• 3:28
  out
• 3:28
  there
• 3:28
  that
• 3:28
  think
• 3:28
  that
• 3:29
  they
• 3:29
  can
• 3:29
  manage
• 3:30
  a
• 3:30
  construction
• 3:31
  project
• 3:32
  like
• 3:32
  they
• 3:32
  do
• 3:32
  their
• 3:33
  Amazon
• 3:33
  account.
• 3:33
  Oh,
• 3:34
  I
• 3:34
  don't
• 3:34
  like
• 3:34
  it.
• 3:34
  I'm
• 3:34
  just
• 3:34
  gonna
• 3:35
  send
• 3:35
  it
• 3:35
  back.
• 3:35
  It's
• 3:36
  a
• 3:36
  whole
• 3:36
  different
• 3:36
  ballgame
• 3:37
  when
• 3:37
  it
• 3:37
  comes
• 3:38
  to
• 3:38
  contracting.
• 3:39
  And
• 3:39
  the
• 3:39
  first
• 3:39
  thing
• 3:40
  that
• 3:40
  I
• 3:40
  always
• 3:40
  say
• 3:40
  is,
• 3:41
  what's
• 3:41
  in
• 3:41
  the
• 3:41
  contract?
• 3:42
  Yeah,
• 3:43
  no,
• 3:43
  that's
• 3:43
  true.
• 3:43
  I
• 3:43
  mean,
• 3:43
  the
• 3:43
  two,
• 3:44
  you
• 3:44
  know,
• 3:44
  so
• 3:45
  with
• 3:45
  the
• 3:45
  work
• 3:46
  that
• 3:46
  we
• 3:46
  do,
• 3:46
  you
• 3:46
  know,
• 3:47
  historically
• 3:47
  we've
• 3:47
  done
• 3:47
  a
• 3:48
  lot
• 3:48
  of
• 3:48
  litigation
• 3:48
  where
• 3:49
  we
• 3:49
  represent
• 3:49
  owners
• 3:50
  or
• 3:50
  contractors
• 3:51
  in
• 3:51
  a.
• 3:52
  And
• 3:53
  for
• 3:53
  a
• 3:53
  homeowner,
• 3:54
  you
• 3:54
  don't
• 3:54
  want
• 3:54
  to
• 3:54
  be
• 3:54
  in
• 3:54
  a
• 3:54
  lawsuit.
• 3:55
  It's
• 3:55
  not
• 3:55
  where
• 3:55
  you
• 3:55
  want
• 3:55
  to
• 3:56
  end
• 3:56
  up.
• 3:56
  But
• 3:56
  when
• 3:56
  these
• 3:56
  people
• 3:57
  come
• 3:57
  to
• 3:57
  us
• 3:58
  and
• 3:58
  their
• 3:58
  project
• 3:58
  has
• 3:59
  gone
• 3:59
  completely
• 3:59
  sideways
• 4:00
  already
• 4:01
  in
• 4:01
  terms
• 4:01
  of
• 4:01
  it's
• 4:02
  taking
• 4:02
  too
• 4:02
  long,
• 4:02
  it's
• 4:02
  costing
• 4:03
  too
• 4:03
  much,
• 4:03
  the
• 4:03
  work
• 4:04
  isn't
• 4:04
  good,
• 4:04
  maybe
• 4:05
  they
• 4:05
  hired
• 4:05
  an
• 4:05
  unlicensed
• 4:06
  contractor.
• 4:08
  All
• 4:08
  those
• 4:08
  things
• 4:08
  you
• 4:09
  really
• 4:09
  hear
• 4:09
  about.
• 4:10
  The
• 4:10
  two
• 4:10
  mistakes
• 4:11
  I
• 4:11
  find
• 4:11
  that
• 4:11
  homeowners
• 4:12
  make
• 4:12
  more
• 4:12
  than
• 4:12
  anything
• 4:13
  else
• 4:13
  is
• 4:14
  they
• 4:14
  don't
• 4:14
  know
• 4:14
  how
• 4:14
  to
• 4:14
  vet
• 4:15
  and
• 4:15
  hire
• 4:15
  a
• 4:16
  good
• 4:16
  contractor.
• 4:17
  They
• 4:17
  don't
• 4:17
  even
• 4:17
  know
• 4:17
  what
• 4:17
  questions
• 4:18
  to
• 4:18
  ask.
• 4:18
  And
• 4:19
  they
• 4:19
  don't
• 4:20
  sign
• 4:20
  a
• 4:20
  contract
• 4:20
  that
• 4:20
  protects
• 4:21
  them
• 4:21
  if
• 4:21
  they've
• 4:22
  signed
• 4:22
  one
• 4:22
  at
• 4:22
  all.
• 4:23
  And
• 4:23
  I
• 4:23
  think
• 4:23
  what,
• 4:23
  what
• 4:24
  a
• 4:24
  lot
• 4:24
  of
• 4:24
  contractors
• 4:25
  and
• 4:25
  owners
• 4:26
  kind
• 4:26
  of
• 4:26
  tend
• 4:26
  to
• 4:26
  think
• 4:27
  is
• 4:27
  these
• 4:28
  contracts
• 4:28
  are
• 4:29
  like
• 4:29
  a
• 4:29
  win
• 4:29
  lose.
• 4:29
  Like
• 4:30
  either
• 4:30
  you're
• 4:30
  going
• 4:30
  to
• 4:30
  have
• 4:31
  a
• 4:31
  good
• 4:31
  contract
• 4:32
  or
• 4:32
  I'm
• 4:32
  going
• 4:32
  to
• 4:32
  have
• 4:32
  the
• 4:32
  good
• 4:32
  contract.
• 4:33
  But
• 4:33
  it
• 4:33
  doesn't
• 4:33
  have
• 4:33
  to
• 4:33
  be
• 4:34
  that
• 4:34
  way.
• 4:34
  And
• 4:34
  a
• 4:34
  good
• 4:34
  contract
• 4:35
  is
• 4:35
  going
• 4:35
  to
• 4:35
  help
• 4:36
  facilitate
• 4:36
  the
• 4:36
  project
• 4:36
  and
• 4:37
  be
• 4:37
  a
• 4:37
  win
• 4:37
  win
• 4:37
  for
• 4:37
  everybody.
• 4:38
  Well,
• 4:38
  and
• 4:38
  it's.
• 4:39
  And
• 4:39
  for
• 4:39
  both
• 4:40
  sides,
• 4:40
  that's
• 4:41
  what
• 4:41
  legally
• 4:42
  has
• 4:43
  to
• 4:43
  be
• 4:43
  performed
• 4:43
  is
• 4:44
  what's
• 4:44
  in
• 4:44
  that
• 4:44
  contract.
• 4:45
  So
• 4:45
  if
• 4:45
  a
• 4:46
  contractor
• 4:46
  writes
• 4:46
  down
• 4:47
  remodel
• 4:48
  kitchen
• 4:49
  her
• 4:49
  plans
• 4:50
  and
• 4:51
  there's
• 4:51
  nothing
• 4:51
  written
• 4:52
  on
• 4:52
  the
• 4:52
  plans
• 4:52
  or
• 4:52
  the
• 4:52
  plans
• 4:53
  aren't.
• 4:53
  Attached,
• 4:54
  that's
• 4:54
  actually,
• 4:55
  that's
• 4:55
  absolutely
• 4:55
  right.
• 4:56
  It's,
• 4:56
  you
• 4:56
  Know,
• 4:56
  down
• 4:56
  to.
• 4:57
  I
• 4:57
  always
• 4:57
  tell
• 4:58
  homeowners,
• 4:59
  if
• 4:59
  you
• 4:59
  were
• 4:59
  promised
• 5:00
  it
• 5:00
  and
• 5:00
  you
• 5:00
  are
• 5:01
  expecting
• 5:01
  it,
• 5:01
  make
• 5:01
  sure
• 5:01
  it's
• 5:02
  written
• 5:02
  into
• 5:02
  the
• 5:02
  contract
• 5:03
  with.
• 5:03
  With
• 5:03
  in
• 5:03
  detail.
• 5:04
  Otherwise,
• 5:05
  you
• 5:05
  know,
• 5:05
  you
• 5:05
  can't
• 5:05
  expect
• 5:05
  to
• 5:06
  get
• 5:06
  it.
• 5:06
  Yeah,
• 5:07
  it's
• 5:07
  crazy.
• 5:07
  And,
• 5:08
  and
• 5:08
  I
• 5:08
  see
• 5:08
  this
• 5:08
  so
• 5:09
  many
• 5:09
  times.
• 5:09
  I'm
• 5:09
  in
• 5:09
  a
• 5:09
  lot
• 5:09
  of
• 5:10
  social
• 5:10
  media
• 5:10
  groups
• 5:10
  where
• 5:11
  I'm
• 5:11
  commenting
• 5:11
  and
• 5:11
  things
• 5:12
  like
• 5:12
  that.
• 5:13
  And
• 5:13
  you
• 5:14
  know
• 5:14
  the
• 5:14
  first
• 5:14
  thing
• 5:14
  when
• 5:14
  somebody's
• 5:15
  mad,
• 5:15
  oh,
• 5:15
  this.
• 5:15
  It's
• 5:16
  taken
• 5:16
  too
• 5:16
  long.
• 5:16
  It's
• 5:16
  not
• 5:17
  what
• 5:17
  I
• 5:17
  thought.
• 5:17
  The
• 5:17
  cabins
• 5:18
  didn't
• 5:18
  show
• 5:18
  up,
• 5:19
  the
• 5:19
  tub's
• 5:20
  wrong.
• 5:20
  And
• 5:20
  the
• 5:20
  first
• 5:21
  question
• 5:21
  I
• 5:21
  ask
• 5:21
  is,
• 5:22
  well,
• 5:23
  you
• 5:23
  might
• 5:23
  think
• 5:23
  it's
• 5:23
  wrong.
• 5:23
  What's
• 5:24
  your
• 5:24
  contract
• 5:24
  say?
• 5:25
  Because
• 5:26
  it's
• 5:26
  just
• 5:26
  there's
• 5:27
  no
• 5:27
  winning
• 5:27
  when
• 5:28
  you
• 5:28
  get
• 5:28
  into
• 5:29
  the
• 5:29
  lawsuit
• 5:29
  game.
• 5:30
  It's
• 5:30
  just,
• 5:30
  how
• 5:30
  much
• 5:30
  is
• 5:31
  it
• 5:31
  going
• 5:31
  to
• 5:31
  cost
• 5:31
  you?
• 5:31
  How
• 5:31
  much
• 5:32
  is
• 5:32
  it
• 5:32
  going
• 5:32
  to
• 5:32
  lose?
• 5:32
  And
• 5:33
  I've
• 5:33
  never
• 5:34
  really
• 5:34
  seen.
• 5:34
  And
• 5:35
  you've
• 5:35
  seen
• 5:35
  this
• 5:35
  way
• 5:36
  more
• 5:36
  than
• 5:36
  I
• 5:36
  have,
• 5:36
  but
• 5:37
  trying
• 5:37
  to
• 5:38
  sue
• 5:38
  an
• 5:39
  unlicensed
• 5:40
  contractor
• 5:41
  seems
• 5:41
  to
• 5:42
  be
• 5:42
  even
• 5:42
  a
• 5:42
  losing
• 5:43
  battle.
• 5:43
  That's
• 5:43
  hard
• 5:44
  to
• 5:44
  win.
• 5:45
  Absolutely.
• 5:45
  Because
• 5:46
  not
• 5:46
  only.
• 5:46
  I
• 5:46
  mean,
• 5:46
  even
• 5:47
  if
• 5:47
  you
• 5:47
  invest
• 5:48
  the
• 5:48
  money
• 5:48
  you
• 5:48
  need
• 5:49
  to
• 5:49
  to
• 5:49
  get
• 5:49
  to
• 5:49
  the
• 5:49
  point
• 5:50
  where
• 5:50
  you've
• 5:50
  won
• 5:50
  and
• 5:51
  a
• 5:51
  court
• 5:51
  says
• 5:51
  you're
• 5:51
  entitled
• 5:52
  to
• 5:52
  some
• 5:52
  amount
• 5:52
  of
• 5:52
  money
• 5:53
  back,
• 5:53
  good
• 5:53
  luck
• 5:54
  trying
• 5:54
  to
• 5:54
  collect
• 5:54
  it.
• 5:55
  And
• 5:55
  so
• 5:55
  you
• 5:56
  get
• 5:56
  a
• 5:56
  piece
• 5:56
  of
• 5:56
  paper
• 5:57
  that's.
• 5:57
  I
• 5:58
  say
• 5:58
  it's
• 5:58
  not
• 5:58
  even
• 5:58
  worth
• 5:58
  the
• 5:58
  paper
• 5:59
  that
• 5:59
  it's
• 5:59
  printed
• 6:00
  on.
• 6:00
  So
• 6:01
  we
• 6:01
  like.
• 6:01
  To
• 6:01
  anyone
• 6:02
  who's
• 6:02
  got
• 6:02
  those
• 6:02
  kinds
• 6:02
  of
• 6:03
  problems,
• 6:03
  we
• 6:04
  try
• 6:04
  to
• 6:04
  put
• 6:04
  the
• 6:04
  most
• 6:04
  pressure
• 6:05
  we
• 6:05
  can
• 6:05
  on
• 6:05
  the
• 6:06
  unlicensed
• 6:06
  contractor
• 6:07
  to
• 6:07
  do
• 6:07
  what
• 6:07
  the
• 6:08
  client
• 6:08
  wants
• 6:09
  without
• 6:09
  bringing
• 6:09
  them
• 6:09
  through
• 6:09
  the
• 6:09
  litigation
• 6:10
  process.
• 6:10
  Because,
• 6:11
  yeah,
• 6:11
  once
• 6:11
  they're
• 6:11
  in
• 6:11
  court,
• 6:12
  they've
• 6:12
  almost
• 6:12
  already
• 6:12
  lost.
• 6:13
  Yeah,
• 6:14
  I've
• 6:14
  had
• 6:14
  the.
• 6:15
  With
• 6:15
  my
• 6:15
  30
• 6:15
  years
• 6:16
  of
• 6:16
  design
• 6:17
  and
• 6:17
  construction
• 6:17
  background,
• 6:18
  I've
• 6:18
  been
• 6:19
  construction
• 6:19
  witnesses
• 6:20
  before
• 6:21
  for
• 6:22
  remodels
• 6:23
  and
• 6:23
  things
• 6:23
  like
• 6:23
  that,
• 6:24
  where
• 6:24
  the
• 6:24
  attorney
• 6:25
  pays
• 6:25
  me
• 6:25
  to
• 6:25
  come
• 6:25
  in
• 6:26
  and
• 6:26
  give
• 6:26
  my
• 6:26
  two
• 6:27
  cents
• 6:27
  on
• 6:27
  it.
• 6:27
  And
• 6:28
  seeing
• 6:28
  it
• 6:28
  from
• 6:28
  that
• 6:29
  side,
• 6:29
  I've
• 6:29
  never
• 6:29
  been
• 6:30
  sued
• 6:30
  in
• 6:30
  a
• 6:31
  construction
• 6:31
  thing
• 6:31
  like
• 6:31
  that
• 6:32
  before,
• 6:32
  but
• 6:32
  seeing
• 6:33
  it
• 6:33
  from
• 6:33
  that
• 6:33
  side
• 6:33
  of
• 6:33
  things,
• 6:34
  wow.
• 6:35
  It's
• 6:35
  absolutely
• 6:35
  incredible
• 6:36
  how
• 6:37
  this
• 6:37
  stuff
• 6:37
  goes.
• 6:38
  Yeah.
• 6:38
  And
• 6:38
  I've
• 6:39
  told
• 6:39
  people
• 6:39
  that
• 6:39
  whether
• 6:39
  you're
• 6:40
  fighting
• 6:40
  over
• 6:40
  $10,000
• 6:41
  or
• 6:42
  $10
• 6:42
  million,
• 6:43
  I
• 6:43
  mean,
• 6:43
  each
• 6:43
  individual
• 6:44
  def.
• 6:45
  Has
• 6:45
  its
• 6:45
  own.
• 6:46
  But
• 6:46
  you
• 6:46
  have
• 6:46
  your
• 6:46
  burden
• 6:47
  of
• 6:47
  proving
• 6:47
  it.
• 6:47
  And
• 6:47
  you
• 6:47
  need
• 6:48
  an
• 6:48
  expert,
• 6:48
  someone
• 6:48
  like
• 6:49
  you
• 6:49
  to
• 6:49
  come
• 6:49
  in
• 6:49
  and
• 6:49
  give
• 6:49
  that
• 6:50
  objective
• 6:50
  opinion
• 6:51
  as
• 6:51
  to
• 6:51
  something
• 6:51
  that
• 6:52
  doesn't
• 6:52
  meet
• 6:52
  a
• 6:53
  standard
• 6:53
  of
• 6:53
  care
• 6:53
  or
• 6:54
  what
• 6:54
  was
• 6:54
  promised
• 6:54
  in
• 6:54
  the
• 6:55
  contract.
• 6:55
  And
• 6:55
  so
• 6:56
  the
• 6:57
  expense
• 6:57
  in
• 6:57
  litigating
• 6:57
  those
• 6:58
  things
• 6:58
  is
• 6:58
  often.
• 6:59
  It's
• 6:59
  too
• 6:59
  prohibitive.
• 7:00
  To
• 7:00
  make
• 7:01
  court
• 7:01
  a
• 7:02
  worthwhile
• 7:02
  endeavor
• 7:03
  for
• 7:03
  most
• 7:03
  people.
• 7:04
  So
• 7:04
  what
• 7:04
  do
• 7:05
  you
• 7:05
  recommend?
• 7:05
  Homeowners
• 7:06
  out
• 7:06
  there,
• 7:06
  they're,
• 7:07
  hey,
• 7:07
  I'm
• 7:07
  going
• 7:08
  to
• 7:08
  do,
• 7:08
  let's
• 7:09
  just
• 7:09
  go
• 7:09
  a
• 7:09
  bathroom
• 7:10
  remodel.
• 7:10
  We'll
• 7:10
  just
• 7:10
  pick
• 7:10
  something
• 7:11
  pretty
• 7:11
  common.
• 7:11
  Yeah,
• 7:12
  I'm
• 7:12
  going
• 7:12
  to
• 7:12
  do
• 7:12
  a
• 7:12
  bathroom
• 7:13
  model.
• 7:13
  What
• 7:13
  do
• 7:13
  you
• 7:14
  recommend?
• 7:14
  And
• 7:14
  I
• 7:14
  know,
• 7:15
  you
• 7:15
  know,
• 7:15
  you're
• 7:16
  an
• 7:16
  attorney,
• 7:16
  but
• 7:16
  this
• 7:16
  isn't
• 7:17
  legal
• 7:17
  advice
• 7:17
  for
• 7:17
  everybody
• 7:18
  out
• 7:18
  there.
• 7:18
  We'll
• 7:18
  put
• 7:18
  that
• 7:18
  thing
• 7:19
  out
• 7:19
  there.
• 7:19
  Right.
• 7:19
  You
• 7:20
  know,
• 7:20
  thanks.
• 7:20
  But
• 7:21
  you
• 7:21
  know,
• 7:21
  it's,
• 7:21
  it's
• 7:22
  one
• 7:22
  of
• 7:22
  those
• 7:22
  things
• 7:22
  that
• 7:23
  what
• 7:23
  do
• 7:23
  you
• 7:23
  recommend
• 7:24
  to
• 7:24
  people
• 7:24
  out
• 7:24
  there
• 7:25
  when
• 7:25
  they're,
• 7:26
  when
• 7:26
  they're
• 7:26
  trying
• 7:26
  to
• 7:26
  start
• 7:27
  that
• 7:27
  process
• 7:27
  of
• 7:28
  hiring
• 7:28
  a
• 7:28
  contractor?
• 7:29
  Yeah.
• 7:30
  So
• 7:30
  the
• 7:30
  first
• 7:30
  thing
• 7:30
  you
• 7:30
  want
• 7:31
  to
• 7:31
  do
• 7:31
  is
• 7:31
  you,
• 7:31
  you
• 7:31
  want
• 7:32
  to
• 7:32
  do
• 7:32
  your
• 7:32
  own
• 7:32
  homework
• 7:33
  before
• 7:33
  you
• 7:33
  reach
• 7:33
  out
• 7:33
  to
• 7:33
  a
• 7:34
  contractor
• 7:34
  in
• 7:34
  the
• 7:34
  first
• 7:34
  place.
• 7:35
  You
• 7:35
  want
• 7:35
  to
• 7:35
  get
• 7:36
  an
• 7:36
  idea
• 7:36
  about
• 7:36
  what
• 7:37
  it
• 7:37
  is
• 7:37
  you
• 7:37
  want
• 7:38
  and
• 7:38
  have
• 7:38
  a
• 7:38
  budget
• 7:39
  in
• 7:39
  mind
• 7:39
  and
• 7:39
  know
• 7:40
  the
• 7:40
  amount
• 7:40
  of
• 7:40
  money
• 7:40
  that
• 7:40
  you
• 7:41
  want
• 7:41
  to
• 7:41
  spend.
• 7:41
  When
• 7:42
  it
• 7:42
  comes
• 7:42
  to
• 7:42
  getting
• 7:42
  a
• 7:42
  contractor
• 7:43
  in,
• 7:44
  having,
• 7:44
  you
• 7:44
  know,
• 7:45
  doing
• 7:45
  a
• 7:45
  thorough,
• 7:46
  your
• 7:47
  due
• 7:47
  diligence
• 7:48
  on
• 7:48
  a
• 7:48
  contractor
• 7:48
  is
• 7:49
  super
• 7:49
  important.
• 7:49
  I
• 7:50
  mean,
• 7:50
  there
• 7:50
  are
• 7:50
  red
• 7:51
  flags
• 7:51
  that
• 7:52
  are
• 7:52
  either
• 7:53
  that
• 7:53
  can
• 7:54
  very
• 7:54
  easily
• 7:55
  be
• 7:55
  located
• 7:56
  or
• 7:56
  that
• 7:57
  you
• 7:57
  should,
• 7:57
  from
• 7:57
  what
• 7:57
  you're
• 7:58
  observing,
• 7:58
  trust
• 7:59
  your
• 7:59
  gut
• 7:59
  and
• 8:00
  follow
• 8:00
  and
• 8:01
  you
• 8:01
  know,
• 8:01
  and
• 8:01
  avoid
• 8:02
  certain
• 8:02
  contractors
• 8:02
  when
• 8:02
  you
• 8:03
  see
• 8:03
  certain
• 8:03
  things.
• 8:03
  Obviously
• 8:04
  the
• 8:04
  most
• 8:05
  important
• 8:05
  things,
• 8:05
  you
• 8:05
  want
• 8:05
  someone
• 8:06
  who's
• 8:06
  licensed,
• 8:07
  you
• 8:07
  want
• 8:07
  someone
• 8:07
  who's
• 8:08
  insured.
• 8:08
  Those
• 8:08
  are
• 8:08
  some
• 8:08
  of
• 8:09
  the
• 8:09
  basics.
• 8:09
  Everybody
• 8:10
  says
• 8:10
  that
• 8:11
  not
• 8:11
  everybody
• 8:12
  knows
• 8:12
  where
• 8:12
  to
• 8:12
  go
• 8:12
  to
• 8:12
  find
• 8:13
  that
• 8:13
  information.
• 8:13
  And
• 8:14
  so,
• 8:14
  you
• 8:14
  know,
• 8:14
  our
• 8:14
  state
• 8:15
  in
• 8:15
  Florida,
• 8:15
  we've
• 8:15
  got
• 8:16
  the
• 8:16
  department
• 8:17
  of
• 8:17
  Business
• 8:17
  and
• 8:17
  professional
• 8:18
  regulations
• 8:18
  where
• 8:18
  you
• 8:19
  could
• 8:19
  go
• 8:19
  and
• 8:19
  do
• 8:19
  these
• 8:20
  kinds
• 8:20
  of
• 8:20
  searches.
• 8:21
  But
• 8:21
  you
• 8:21
  know,
• 8:22
  you're
• 8:22
  going
• 8:22
  to
• 8:22
  want
• 8:22
  to
• 8:22
  know
• 8:22
  whether
• 8:22
  or
• 8:23
  not
• 8:23
  there's
• 8:24
  been
• 8:24
  any
• 8:24
  license
• 8:24
  complaints
• 8:25
  against
• 8:25
  that
• 8:25
  contractor.
• 8:26
  You
• 8:26
  know,
• 8:28
  you
• 8:28
  want
• 8:28
  to
• 8:29
  also
• 8:29
  pay
• 8:29
  attention
• 8:30
  to
• 8:30
  the
• 8:30
  way
• 8:31
  to
• 8:31
  whether
• 8:31
  or
• 8:31
  not
• 8:32
  this
• 8:32
  contractor
• 8:32
  is
• 8:32
  keeping
• 8:33
  his
• 8:33
  or
• 8:33
  her
• 8:34
  promises
• 8:34
  to
• 8:34
  you
• 8:35
  during
• 8:35
  this
• 8:35
  period
• 8:36
  of
• 8:36
  time
• 8:37
  where
• 8:37
  they're
• 8:37
  trying
• 8:37
  to
• 8:38
  win
• 8:38
  you
• 8:39
  over.
• 8:39
  Because
• 8:40
  how
• 8:40
  they
• 8:41
  act
• 8:41
  and
• 8:41
  behave
• 8:42
  in,
• 8:42
  in
• 8:43
  that
• 8:43
  circumstance
• 8:43
  is
• 8:44
  going
• 8:44
  to
• 8:44
  be
• 8:44
  magnified
• 8:45
  tenfold
• 8:45
  within
• 8:46
  a
• 8:46
  project.
• 8:46
  So
• 8:46
  for
• 8:47
  example,
• 8:47
  if
• 8:47
  they
• 8:47
  tell
• 8:47
  you,
• 8:48
  hey,
• 8:48
  I'll
• 8:48
  be
• 8:49
  to
• 8:49
  you
• 8:49
  at
• 8:49
  5
• 8:49
  o'clock
• 8:50
  on
• 8:50
  Thursday
• 8:51
  and
• 8:51
  we'll
• 8:52
  talk
• 8:52
  through
• 8:52
  what
• 8:52
  you
• 8:52
  want.
• 8:53
  And
• 8:53
  then
• 8:53
  it's
• 8:54
  five,
• 8:54
  it's
• 8:54
  5:30,
• 8:55
  it's
• 8:55
  6:00.
• 8:56
  They
• 8:56
  show
• 8:56
  up
• 8:56
  at
• 8:56
  6:00.
• 8:57
  They
• 8:57
  didn't
• 8:57
  give
• 8:57
  you
• 8:57
  the
• 8:57
  call
• 8:58
  in
• 8:58
  advance
• 8:58
  to
• 8:58
  tell
• 8:58
  you
• 8:59
  that
• 8:59
  they're
• 8:59
  going
• 8:59
  to
• 8:59
  be
• 8:59
  late.
• 9:00
  That's
• 9:00
  a
• 9:00
  red
• 9:00
  flag.
• 9:01
  That's
• 9:01
  how
• 9:01
  this
• 9:02
  person
• 9:02
  acts
• 9:03
  and
• 9:03
  communicates.
• 9:03
  So
• 9:04
  during
• 9:04
  the
• 9:04
  project,
• 9:04
  when
• 9:05
  you
• 9:05
  Want
• 9:05
  to
• 9:05
  know
• 9:06
  why
• 9:06
  someone
• 9:06
  is
• 9:07
  not
• 9:07
  showing
• 9:07
  up
• 9:07
  at
• 9:07
  your
• 9:08
  house
• 9:08
  on
• 9:08
  Monday
• 9:08
  as
• 9:08
  promised?
• 9:09
  You've
• 9:10
  kind
• 9:10
  of
• 9:10
  have
• 9:10
  seen
• 9:11
  what
• 9:11
  type
• 9:11
  of
• 9:12
  person
• 9:12
  you're
• 9:12
  dealing
• 9:13
  with.
• 9:13
  So
• 9:13
  you
• 9:13
  want
• 9:13
  to
• 9:14
  make
• 9:14
  sure
• 9:14
  that,
• 9:14
  you
• 9:14
  know,
• 9:14
  you
• 9:15
  have
• 9:15
  someone
• 9:15
  who
• 9:16
  you
• 9:16
  can
• 9:16
  rely
• 9:16
  upon
• 9:17
  what
• 9:17
  they
• 9:17
  say,
• 9:18
  they're
• 9:18
  following
• 9:18
  through.
• 9:19
  They're
• 9:19
  giving
• 9:19
  you
• 9:19
  the,
• 9:20
  you
• 9:20
  know,
• 9:20
  they're
• 9:21
  following
• 9:21
  through
• 9:21
  on
• 9:21
  what
• 9:21
  they
• 9:21
  promised
• 9:22
  to
• 9:22
  you.
• 9:22
  They're
• 9:23
  showing
• 9:23
  up
• 9:23
  when
• 9:23
  they
• 9:23
  say
• 9:23
  they
• 9:24
  should,
• 9:24
  they're
• 9:24
  delivering
• 9:25
  to
• 9:25
  you
• 9:25
  proposals
• 9:26
  when
• 9:26
  they
• 9:26
  say
• 9:26
  they
• 9:26
  should,
• 9:27
  and
• 9:27
  follow
• 9:28
  up
• 9:28
  and
• 9:28
  pay
• 9:29
  close
• 9:29
  attention
• 9:29
  to
• 9:29
  how
• 9:29
  they
• 9:30
  communicate.
• 9:31
  You
• 9:31
  know,
• 9:31
  there
• 9:31
  are.
• 9:32
  There
• 9:32
  are
• 9:32
  a
• 9:33
  lot
• 9:33
  of
• 9:33
  builders,
• 9:34
  a
• 9:34
  lot
• 9:34
  of
• 9:34
  contractors.
• 9:34
  I
• 9:35
  mean,
• 9:35
  they'll
• 9:35
  put
• 9:36
  a
• 9:36
  real
• 9:36
  full
• 9:37
  court
• 9:37
  press
• 9:37
  on
• 9:37
  you
• 9:37
  to
• 9:37
  try
• 9:38
  to
• 9:38
  get
• 9:38
  you
• 9:38
  to
• 9:39
  sign
• 9:39
  up
• 9:39
  really
• 9:39
  quick
• 9:40
  without
• 9:40
  the
• 9:40
  opportunity
• 9:41
  to
• 9:41
  look
• 9:41
  at
• 9:41
  a
• 9:42
  contract
• 9:42
  or
• 9:42
  you
• 9:42
  know
• 9:43
  what,
• 9:43
  we
• 9:43
  don't
• 9:43
  need
• 9:43
  a
• 9:43
  contract.
• 9:44
  That's
• 9:44
  a
• 9:44
  big
• 9:44
  warning
• 9:45
  sign.
• 9:45
  Any
• 9:45
  contractor
• 9:46
  who.
• 9:46
  Where
• 9:46
  you
• 9:46
  need
• 9:46
  a
• 9:47
  permit
• 9:47
  and
• 9:47
  they
• 9:47
  tell
• 9:47
  you
• 9:48
  you
• 9:48
  don't
• 9:48
  want
• 9:48
  to,
• 9:48
  we
• 9:49
  don't
• 9:49
  have
• 9:49
  to
• 9:49
  use
• 9:49
  a
• 9:49
  permit
• 9:50
  because
• 9:50
  of
• 9:50
  what
• 9:50
  it's
• 9:50
  going
• 9:50
  to,
• 9:51
  how
• 9:51
  much
• 9:51
  extra
• 9:51
  time
• 9:52
  it'll
• 9:52
  take
• 9:52
  and
• 9:53
  money
• 9:53
  it'll
• 9:53
  cost,
• 9:54
  you
• 9:54
  want
• 9:54
  to
• 9:54
  avoid
• 9:54
  those
• 9:55
  contractors
• 9:56
  for
• 9:56
  sure.
• 9:56
  So,
• 9:57
  you
• 9:57
  know,
• 9:58
  communication
• 9:59
  is
• 9:59
  super
• 10:00
  important.
• 10:00
  At
• 10:01
  the
• 10:01
  heart
• 10:01
  of
• 10:01
  basically
• 10:01
  every
• 10:02
  dispute
• 10:03
  in
• 10:03
  this
• 10:03
  kind
• 10:04
  of
• 10:04
  circumstance
• 10:05
  is
• 10:06
  really
• 10:06
  someone
• 10:06
  who's
• 10:06
  not
• 10:07
  communicating
• 10:07
  well
• 10:07
  or
• 10:07
  maybe
• 10:08
  two
• 10:08
  people
• 10:08
  who
• 10:08
  aren't
• 10:08
  communicating
• 10:09
  well.
• 10:09
  And
• 10:09
  as
• 10:09
  a
• 10:10
  homeowner,
• 10:10
  if
• 10:10
  you've
• 10:11
  never
• 10:11
  done
• 10:11
  this
• 10:11
  before,
• 10:12
  you
• 10:12
  don't
• 10:13
  really
• 10:13
  know
• 10:13
  what
• 10:13
  to
• 10:13
  expect.
• 10:14
  And
• 10:14
  I
• 10:14
  get
• 10:14
  this.
• 10:14
  When
• 10:14
  people
• 10:15
  come
• 10:15
  to
• 10:15
  my
• 10:15
  law
• 10:15
  firm
• 10:16
  for
• 10:16
  the
• 10:16
  first
• 10:16
  time,
• 10:16
  they've
• 10:16
  maybe
• 10:17
  never
• 10:17
  hired
• 10:17
  a
• 10:17
  lawyer,
• 10:18
  they
• 10:18
  don't
• 10:18
  know
• 10:18
  what
• 10:18
  to
• 10:19
  expect.
• 10:19
  You
• 10:19
  know
• 10:19
  what,
• 10:19
  as
• 10:20
  the
• 10:20
  lawyer,
• 10:20
  it's
• 10:20
  my
• 10:20
  job
• 10:21
  to
• 10:21
  sort
• 10:21
  of
• 10:21
  be
• 10:21
  your
• 10:21
  tour
• 10:22
  guide
• 10:22
  and
• 10:22
  tell
• 10:22
  you
• 10:22
  how
• 10:23
  this
• 10:23
  is
• 10:23
  going
• 10:23
  to
• 10:23
  work.
• 10:23
  Here's
• 10:24
  what's
• 10:24
  going
• 10:24
  to
• 10:24
  happen
• 10:24
  next,
• 10:25
  because
• 10:25
  I
• 10:25
  do
• 10:25
  this
• 10:25
  all
• 10:26
  day,
• 10:26
  every
• 10:26
  day.
• 10:26
  Contractors
• 10:28
  has
• 10:28
  the
• 10:28
  same
• 10:29
  opportunity
• 10:29
  to
• 10:30
  really
• 10:30
  impress
• 10:30
  the
• 10:31
  client
• 10:31
  and
• 10:31
  the
• 10:31
  owner
• 10:32
  with
• 10:32
  their
• 10:32
  knowledge
• 10:33
  of
• 10:33
  the
• 10:33
  process
• 10:33
  and
• 10:34
  get
• 10:34
  the
• 10:34
  owner
• 10:35
  comfortable
• 10:35
  with
• 10:36
  what
• 10:36
  they're
• 10:36
  about
• 10:37
  to
• 10:37
  go
• 10:37
  through.
• 10:37
  But
• 10:37
  not
• 10:38
  a
• 10:38
  lot
• 10:38
  of
• 10:38
  contractors
• 10:39
  take
• 10:39
  advantage
• 10:39
  of
• 10:39
  that.
• 10:39
  I
• 10:40
  mean,
• 10:40
  it's
• 10:41
  a
• 10:41
  real
• 10:41
  great.
• 10:41
  It's
• 10:41
  almost
• 10:41
  like
• 10:42
  a
• 10:42
  marketing
• 10:42
  opportunity
• 10:43
  you
• 10:43
  have
• 10:43
  if
• 10:43
  you
• 10:44
  handle
• 10:44
  it
• 10:44
  the
• 10:44
  right
• 10:44
  way
• 10:44
  as
• 10:45
  the
• 10:45
  contractor.
• 10:46
  Yeah,
• 10:46
  it's
• 10:46
  crazy.
• 10:47
  This
• 10:47
  is
• 10:47
  the
• 10:47
  honeymoon
• 10:48
  period,
• 10:48
  as
• 10:48
  I
• 10:48
  call
• 10:48
  it.
• 10:49
  So
• 10:49
  if
• 10:49
  they're
• 10:50
  not
• 10:50
  on
• 10:50
  their
• 10:50
  best
• 10:51
  behavior
• 10:51
  and
• 10:52
  doing
• 10:52
  everything
• 10:52
  on
• 10:53
  the
• 10:53
  schedule
• 10:53
  that
• 10:53
  they've
• 10:54
  set
• 10:54
  up
• 10:54
  or,
• 10:54
  hey,
• 10:55
  I
• 10:55
  got
• 10:55
  to
• 10:55
  do
• 10:55
  this,
• 10:55
  I
• 10:55
  got
• 10:55
  to
• 10:55
  do
• 10:55
  this.
• 10:56
  I
• 10:56
  have
• 10:56
  a
• 10:56
  meeting
• 10:56
  here.
• 10:57
  Those
• 10:57
  are
• 10:57
  all
• 10:58
  warning
• 10:58
  signs.
• 12:42
  And
• 10:59
  you
• 12:43
  know,
• 12:43
  it's
• 12:44
  funny,
• 12:44
  I
• 12:44
  wish
• 12:44
  that
• 12:45
  we
• 12:45
  had
• 12:45
  a
• 12:45
  better
• 12:46
  thing
• 12:46
  across
• 12:47
  the
• 12:47
  United
• 12:47
  States
• 12:48
  for,
• 12:48
  for
• 12:48
  contractor
• 12:49
  licensing.
• 12:49
  Because
• 12:50
  I
• 12:50
  get.
• 12:50
  It's
• 12:50
  a
• 12:50
  state
• 12:51
  thing,
• 12:51
  but
• 12:52
  some
• 12:52
  states
• 12:52
  go,
• 12:52
  oh
• 12:52
  no,
• 12:53
  it's
• 12:53
  a
• 12:53
  city
• 12:53
  thing.
• 12:54
  You
• 12:54
  know
• 12:54
  what
• 12:54
  I
• 12:54
  mean?
• 12:55
  So,
• 12:55
  yeah,
• 12:55
  you
• 12:55
  get
• 12:55
  up
• 12:56
  into
• 12:56
  the
• 12:56
  Northeast
• 12:56
  and
• 12:56
  it's
• 12:57
  like,
• 12:57
  well,
• 12:57
  I
• 12:57
  got
• 12:58
  my
• 12:58
  city
• 12:59
  of
• 12:59
  Philadelphia
• 13:00
  contractor's
• 13:00
  license
• 13:01
  and
• 13:01
  I
• 13:01
  have
• 13:01
  my.
• 13:02
  This
• 13:02
  county
• 13:02
  one.
• 13:03
  And
• 13:03
  it
• 13:04
  gets
• 13:04
  a
• 13:04
  lot
• 13:04
  harder.
• 13:04
  I'm
• 13:05
  in
• 13:05
  a
• 13:05
  state
• 13:05
  here
• 13:05
  in
• 13:05
  Oregon
• 13:06
  where
• 13:06
  we
• 13:06
  have
• 13:06
  the
• 13:07
  Oregon
• 13:07
  ccb
• 13:08
  and
• 13:09
  they,
• 13:09
  from
• 13:09
  a
• 13:10
  consumer
• 13:10
  point
• 13:10
  of
• 13:11
  view,
• 13:11
  they're
• 13:12
  awesome.
• 13:12
  I
• 13:12
  could
• 13:13
  literally
• 13:13
  call
• 13:13
  them
• 13:14
  up
• 13:14
  on
• 13:14
  the
• 13:14
  phone.
• 13:15
  They
• 13:15
  answer
• 13:16
  and
• 13:16
  I'm
• 13:16
  going
• 13:16
  to
• 13:16
  make
• 13:16
  up
• 13:16
  a
• 13:16
  name
• 13:17
  and
• 13:17
  go,
• 13:17
  hey,
• 13:18
  I'm
• 13:18
  thinking
• 13:18
  about
• 13:18
  having
• 13:19
  ABC
• 13:19
  Construction
• 13:20
  do
• 13:20
  something
• 13:21
  for
• 13:21
  me.
• 13:22
  And
• 13:22
  they
• 13:22
  go,
• 13:22
  hey,
• 13:22
  let's
• 13:23
  pull
• 13:23
  up
• 13:23
  their
• 13:23
  file
• 13:24
  and
• 13:24
  let's
• 13:24
  take
• 13:24
  a
• 13:24
  look.
• 13:25
  And
• 13:25
  they
• 13:25
  guide
• 13:25
  you
• 13:26
  through
• 13:26
  it,
• 13:26
  which
• 13:26
  is
• 13:26
  awesome.
• 13:27
  That's
• 13:27
  great.
• 13:27
  That
• 13:27
  is
• 13:28
  awesome.
• 13:28
  Because
• 13:29
  you
• 13:29
  can
• 13:29
  get
• 13:29
  on
• 13:29
  a
• 13:29
  phone
• 13:29
  with
• 13:30
  an
• 13:30
  expert
• 13:30
  there.
• 13:30
  And
• 13:30
  they
• 13:30
  go,
• 13:31
  well,
• 13:31
  they've
• 13:31
  had
• 13:31
  two
• 13:31
  complaints,
• 13:32
  but
• 13:32
  they've
• 13:32
  been
• 13:32
  around
• 13:32
  for
• 13:33
  34
• 13:33
  years.
• 13:33
  So
• 13:34
  that's
• 13:34
  actually
• 13:35
  below
• 13:35
  average.
• 13:36
  Yeah,
• 13:37
  yeah.
• 13:37
  That's
• 13:37
  fantastic.
• 13:38
  I
• 13:38
  mean,
• 13:38
  that's
• 13:38
  really
• 13:38
  great
• 13:39
  when
• 13:39
  you've
• 13:39
  got
• 13:39
  that
• 13:40
  kind
• 13:40
  of
• 13:40
  board
• 13:40
  who's
• 13:41
  willing
• 13:41
  to
• 13:41
  put
• 13:41
  in
• 13:42
  the
• 13:42
  extra
• 13:42
  effort
• 13:42
  to
• 13:42
  protect
• 13:43
  the
• 13:43
  homeowners
• 13:43
  like
• 13:43
  that.
• 13:44
  It's
• 13:44
  not
• 13:44
  perfect,
• 13:45
  but,
• 13:45
  you
• 13:45
  know,
• 13:46
  it's
• 13:46
  such
• 13:47
  an
• 13:47
  easy
• 13:47
  thing
• 13:47
  in
• 13:47
  our
• 13:48
  state
• 13:48
  that
• 13:48
  I
• 13:48
  just
• 13:48
  go,
• 13:49
  just
• 13:49
  call
• 13:49
  them,
• 13:49
  get
• 13:50
  on
• 13:50
  the
• 13:50
  phone,
• 13:51
  they'll
• 13:51
  answer,
• 13:52
  and
• 13:52
  then
• 13:52
  you
• 13:52
  can
• 13:52
  find
• 13:53
  out
• 13:53
  where
• 13:53
  they're
• 13:53
  like,
• 13:53
  hey,
• 13:54
  wait
• 13:54
  a
• 13:54
  minute,
• 13:54
  this
• 13:54
  guy's
• 13:55
  been,
• 13:55
  you
• 13:55
  know,
• 13:56
  closed
• 13:56
  for
• 13:57
  two
• 13:57
  years.
• 13:57
  And
• 13:58
  again,
• 13:58
  they're
• 13:58
  one
• 13:59
  of,
• 13:59
  you
• 13:59
  know,
• 13:59
  we're
• 13:59
  one
• 13:59
  of
• 14:00
  the
• 14:00
  states,
• 14:00
  Washington,
• 14:01
  you
• 14:01
  get
• 14:01
  into
• 14:01
  California,
• 14:02
  a
• 14:02
  lot
• 14:02
  of
• 14:02
  these
• 14:02
  states
• 14:02
  that
• 14:03
  have
• 14:03
  these
• 14:03
  bigger
• 14:04
  programs.
• 14:04
  It
• 14:05
  seems
• 14:05
  that
• 14:05
  when
• 14:05
  their
• 14:06
  bond
• 14:06
  and
• 14:06
  insurance
• 14:07
  goes
• 14:07
  off,
• 14:07
  within
• 14:08
  minutes
• 14:08
  they've
• 14:09
  got
• 14:09
  it
• 14:09
  flagged
• 14:09
  in
• 14:10
  their.
• 14:10
  And
• 14:10
  their
• 14:10
  licenses
• 14:11
  pulled,
• 14:11
  which
• 14:11
  is
• 14:11
  also
• 14:12
  great.
• 14:12
  Yeah,
• 14:12
  you
• 14:13
  know,
• 14:13
  and
• 14:13
  one
• 14:13
  other
• 14:14
  thing
• 14:14
  a
• 14:14
  lot
• 14:14
  of
• 14:14
  people
• 14:14
  don't,
• 14:15
  at
• 14:15
  least
• 14:15
  down
• 14:15
  here
• 14:15
  in
• 14:15
  Florida,
• 14:16
  which
• 14:16
  is
• 14:16
  a
• 14:16
  big
• 14:16
  problem,
• 14:17
  is
• 14:17
  you
• 14:17
  get
• 14:17
  folks
• 14:18
  who
• 14:18
  are
• 14:18
  unlicensed
• 14:19
  going
• 14:19
  around
• 14:20
  trying
• 14:20
  to
• 14:20
  sign
• 14:20
  up
• 14:21
  jobs,
• 14:21
  and
• 14:22
  they've
• 14:22
  got
• 14:22
  some
• 14:23
  licensed
• 14:23
  person
• 14:24
  in
• 14:24
  the
• 14:24
  background
• 14:25
  who
• 14:25
  is
• 14:25
  pulling
• 14:26
  permits
• 14:26
  for
• 14:26
  them.
• 14:27
  And
• 14:27
  so
• 14:27
  I'm
• 14:27
  not
• 14:27
  sure
• 14:27
  how
• 14:27
  it
• 14:28
  works
• 14:28
  in
• 14:28
  Oregon
• 14:29
  or
• 14:29
  other
• 14:29
  states,
• 14:30
  but
• 14:30
  in
• 14:30
  Florida,
• 14:31
  licenses
• 14:31
  are
• 14:31
  given
• 14:32
  to
• 14:32
  individuals.
• 14:32
  And
• 14:33
  for
• 14:34
  a
• 14:34
  company
• 14:34
  to
• 14:35
  do
• 14:35
  contracting,
• 14:35
  the
• 14:36
  individual
• 14:36
  has
• 14:36
  to
• 14:36
  qualify
• 14:37
  the
• 14:37
  company.
• 14:38
  It
• 14:38
  requires
• 14:38
  an
• 14:38
  application
• 14:39
  to
• 14:39
  the
• 14:39
  state
• 14:39
  and
• 14:40
  a
• 14:40
  legitimate
• 14:41
  connection
• 14:42
  between
• 14:42
  the
• 14:42
  license
• 14:43
  holder
• 14:43
  and
• 14:43
  the
• 14:43
  company.
• 14:44
  So
• 14:44
  when
• 14:44
  you
• 14:45
  hire
• 14:45
  a
• 14:45
  company
• 14:45
  and
• 14:46
  that
• 14:46
  company
• 14:46
  doesn't
• 14:47
  have
• 14:47
  a
• 14:47
  qualifying
• 14:47
  agent,
• 14:48
  a
• 14:48
  licensed
• 14:48
  person,
• 14:49
  they're
• 14:49
  unlicensed
• 14:50
  contracting.
• 14:50
  Even
• 14:51
  if
• 14:51
  they've
• 14:51
  Got
• 14:51
  their
• 14:51
  buddy
• 14:52
  in
• 14:52
  the
• 14:52
  background
• 14:53
  pulling
• 14:53
  the
• 14:53
  permits
• 14:54
  for
• 14:54
  your
• 14:54
  job.
• 14:55
  And
• 14:55
  that's
• 14:55
  a
• 14:55
  violation
• 14:56
  of
• 14:56
  the
• 14:57
  person
• 14:57
  who
• 14:57
  holds
• 14:57
  the
• 14:57
  permit.
• 14:58
  It's
• 14:58
  a
• 14:58
  violation
• 14:59
  of
• 14:59
  their
• 15:00
  permitting
• 15:00
  status
• 15:01
  and
• 15:02
  regulation.
• 15:04
  And
• 15:04
  that's
• 15:04
  the
• 15:05
  worst.
• 15:05
  It's
• 15:06
  one
• 15:06
  thing
• 15:06
  when
• 15:06
  you
• 15:06
  got
• 15:06
  unlicensed
• 15:07
  guys
• 15:07
  running
• 15:07
  around.
• 15:08
  It's
• 15:08
  another
• 15:09
  when
• 15:09
  people
• 15:09
  with
• 15:10
  the
• 15:10
  licenses
• 15:10
  don't
• 15:11
  realize
• 15:11
  the
• 15:12
  jeopardy
• 15:12
  that
• 15:12
  they're
• 15:12
  putting
• 15:13
  their
• 15:13
  own
• 15:13
  license
• 15:14
  and
• 15:14
  the
• 15:14
  profession
• 15:15
  in
• 15:15
  by
• 15:15
  allowing
• 15:16
  these
• 15:16
  unlicensed
• 15:16
  people
• 15:17
  to
• 15:17
  go
• 15:17
  out
• 15:17
  there
• 15:17
  and
• 15:17
  undercut
• 15:18
  you
• 15:18
  because
• 15:18
  they're
• 15:18
  going
• 15:18
  to
• 15:18
  be
• 15:19
  cheaper,
• 15:19
  because
• 15:19
  they're
• 15:19
  going
• 15:20
  to
• 15:20
  do
• 15:20
  worse
• 15:20
  work.
• 15:21
  And
• 15:22
  it
• 15:22
  just
• 15:22
  lowers
• 15:22
  the
• 15:23
  bar
• 15:23
  all
• 15:23
  around.
• 15:24
  I've
• 15:25
  seen
• 15:25
  people
• 15:25
  out
• 15:26
  there
• 15:26
  that
• 15:26
  were
• 15:26
  former
• 15:27
  employees,
• 15:28
  right.
• 15:28
  Of
• 15:29
  a
• 15:29
  contractor
• 15:30
  still
• 15:30
  have
• 15:31
  the
• 15:31
  business
• 15:31
  card,
• 15:31
  and
• 15:32
  they're
• 15:32
  out
• 15:32
  running
• 15:32
  around,
• 15:33
  still
• 15:33
  trying
• 15:33
  to
• 15:33
  sell
• 15:33
  jobs
• 15:33
  under
• 15:34
  the
• 15:34
  name,
• 15:34
  but
• 15:34
  they're
• 15:34
  just
• 15:34
  taking
• 15:35
  the
• 15:35
  money
• 15:35
  themselves.
• 15:36
  And
• 15:36
  then
• 15:37
  they
• 15:37
  go
• 15:37
  start
• 15:37
  up
• 15:37
  like
• 15:37
  an
• 15:37
  LLC
• 15:38
  where
• 15:38
  they
• 15:38
  slightly
• 15:39
  change
• 15:39
  the
• 15:39
  name
• 15:39
  so
• 15:40
  when
• 15:40
  they
• 15:40
  write
• 15:40
  the
• 15:40
  checkout,
• 15:41
  they
• 15:41
  can
• 15:41
  put
• 15:41
  it
• 15:41
  in
• 15:41
  their
• 15:41
  account.
• 15:42
  And,
• 15:43
  I
• 15:43
  mean,
• 15:43
  nothing
• 15:44
  surprises
• 15:44
  me
• 15:44
  anymore
• 15:45
  with
• 15:45
  the
• 15:46
  level
• 15:46
  of
• 15:47
  that
• 15:47
  handful
• 15:48
  of,
• 15:49
  you
• 15:49
  know,
• 15:49
  illegal
• 15:50
  contractors
• 15:50
  out
• 15:51
  there
• 15:51
  that
• 15:51
  are
• 15:51
  trying
• 15:51
  to
• 15:51
  take
• 15:51
  the
• 15:51
  money
• 15:52
  out
• 15:52
  of
• 15:52
  hardworking
• 15:52
  people
• 15:53
  that
• 15:54
  are
• 15:54
  just
• 15:54
  taking
• 15:55
  them
• 15:55
  to
• 15:55
  the
• 15:55
  cleaners.
• 15:56
  Yeah,
• 15:56
  absolutely.
• 15:57
  And,
• 15:57
  you
• 15:57
  know,
• 15:57
  one
• 15:57
  of
• 15:57
  the
• 15:57
  things,
• 15:58
  you
• 15:58
  know,
• 15:58
  I
• 15:58
  think
• 15:58
  this
• 15:58
  is
• 15:59
  really
• 15:59
  important
• 15:59
  is
• 16:00
  to
• 16:00
  understand
• 16:00
  who
• 16:01
  the
• 16:01
  license
• 16:01
  holder
• 16:02
  is
• 16:02
  and
• 16:02
  to
• 16:03
  get
• 16:03
  some
• 16:03
  sort
• 16:03
  of
• 16:03
  background
• 16:04
  on
• 16:04
  that
• 16:04
  person.
• 16:04
  You
• 16:04
  certainly
• 16:05
  want
• 16:05
  to
• 16:05
  know
• 16:05
  if
• 16:05
  they've
• 16:06
  got
• 16:06
  any
• 16:06
  type
• 16:06
  of,
• 16:06
  you
• 16:07
  know,
• 16:07
  criminal
• 16:07
  background,
• 16:07
  bankruptcies,
• 16:08
  you
• 16:08
  know,
• 16:09
  lawsuits,
• 16:09
  all
• 16:09
  of
• 16:09
  that.
• 16:10
  So,
• 16:10
  I
• 16:10
  mean,
• 16:10
  there's
• 16:10
  a
• 16:10
  lot
• 16:11
  of
• 16:11
  information
• 16:11
  that's
• 16:11
  out
• 16:12
  there
• 16:12
  if
• 16:12
  you
• 16:12
  know
• 16:12
  where
• 16:12
  to
• 16:12
  look
• 16:13
  and
• 16:13
  if
• 16:13
  you
• 16:13
  know
• 16:13
  where
• 16:13
  to
• 16:13
  find
• 16:13
  it,
• 16:14
  you
• 16:14
  know,
• 16:14
  And
• 16:15
  Neil,
• 16:15
  look.
• 16:15
  So
• 16:16
  this
• 16:16
  is
• 16:16
  actually
• 16:16
  a
• 16:16
  service
• 16:16
  we
• 16:16
  provide
• 16:17
  for
• 16:17
  homeowners
• 16:18
  down
• 16:18
  here,
• 16:18
  is
• 16:18
  we
• 16:18
  will
• 16:19
  vet
• 16:19
  contractors
• 16:20
  for
• 16:20
  you.
• 16:20
  We
• 16:20
  go
• 16:21
  through
• 16:21
  all
• 16:21
  of
• 16:21
  this.
• 16:22
  We
• 16:22
  search
• 16:22
  their
• 16:22
  insurance.
• 16:23
  We
• 16:23
  do
• 16:23
  all
• 16:23
  of
• 16:24
  that.
• 16:24
  We
• 16:24
  look
• 16:24
  through.
• 16:24
  You
• 16:24
  know,
• 16:25
  one
• 16:25
  thing
• 16:25
  you
• 16:26
  can
• 16:26
  do
• 16:26
  yourself
• 16:26
  and
• 16:26
  you
• 16:27
  want
• 16:27
  to
• 16:27
  look
• 16:27
  for
• 16:27
  is
• 16:27
  take
• 16:27
  a
• 16:27
  look
• 16:28
  at
• 16:28
  their
• 16:28
  reviews
• 16:28
  online.
• 16:29
  Take
• 16:29
  a
• 16:29
  look
• 16:29
  at
• 16:29
  whether
• 16:29
  it's
• 16:30
  Google
• 16:30
  or
• 16:30
  Yelp
• 16:30
  or
• 16:31
  whatever
• 16:31
  it
• 16:31
  is.
• 16:31
  If
• 16:31
  you
• 16:32
  see
• 16:32
  their
• 16:33
  reviews
• 16:33
  gradually
• 16:34
  getting
• 16:34
  worse
• 16:34
  and
• 16:35
  worse
• 16:35
  and
• 16:35
  worse,
• 16:35
  and
• 16:35
  more
• 16:36
  recently,
• 16:36
  they've
• 16:36
  had
• 16:37
  some
• 16:37
  really
• 16:37
  bad
• 16:37
  ones.
• 16:38
  That
• 16:38
  is
• 16:38
  a
• 16:38
  sign
• 16:39
  that
• 16:39
  this
• 16:40
  contractor
• 16:40
  is
• 16:40
  probably
• 16:41
  having
• 16:41
  financial
• 16:41
  difficulties.
• 16:42
  And
• 16:43
  it's
• 16:43
  just
• 16:43
  a
• 16:43
  matter
• 16:43
  of
• 16:44
  time
• 16:44
  before
• 16:44
  the
• 16:44
  music
• 16:45
  stops
• 16:45
  and
• 16:45
  you're
• 16:45
  left
• 16:46
  without
• 16:46
  a
• 16:46
  chair
• 16:46
  to
• 16:46
  sit
• 16:46
  in,
• 16:47
  and
• 16:47
  it's
• 16:48
  going
• 16:48
  to
• 16:48
  land
• 16:48
  in
• 16:49
  somebody's
• 16:49
  unfortunate
• 16:50
  lap
• 16:50
  when
• 16:50
  things
• 16:51
  finally
• 16:51
  implode
• 16:51
  on
• 16:51
  that
• 16:52
  contractor.
• 16:53
  That's
• 16:53
  something
• 16:53
  that
• 16:54
  we
• 16:54
  always
• 16:54
  encourage
• 16:54
  people
• 16:55
  to
• 16:55
  look
• 16:55
  for,
• 16:55
  and
• 16:55
  we
• 16:55
  look
• 16:55
  for
• 16:55
  it
• 16:56
  for
• 16:56
  them,
• 16:57
  you
• 16:57
  know,
• 16:57
  Would
• 16:57
  like
• 16:57
  for
• 16:58
  us
• 16:58
  to
• 16:58
  do
• 16:58
  so.
• 16:58
  That
• 16:59
  is
• 16:59
  so
• 16:59
  smart.
• 16:59
  Because
• 17:00
  how
• 17:00
  the
• 17:00
  traditional
• 17:01
  contractor
• 17:02
  goes
• 17:02
  under
• 17:03
  is
• 17:03
  that
• 17:03
  they're
• 17:04
  taking,
• 17:04
  you
• 17:04
  know,
• 17:05
  they're.
• 17:05
  Robin
• 17:05
  Peter.
• 17:05
  To
• 17:05
  pay
• 17:06
  Paul.
• 17:06
  So,
• 17:07
  you
• 17:07
  know,
• 17:07
  when
• 17:08
  your
• 17:08
  final
• 17:08
  check
• 17:09
  is
• 17:09
  paying,
• 17:10
  that
• 17:10
  you're
• 17:10
  writing
• 17:10
  to
• 17:10
  them
• 17:11
  is
• 17:11
  actually
• 17:11
  paying
• 17:11
  for
• 17:11
  the
• 17:12
  next
• 17:12
  job.
• 17:12
  Yes,
• 17:13
  that's
• 17:13
  exactly
• 17:13
  right.
• 17:14
  And
• 17:14
  they're
• 17:14
  just
• 17:14
  trying
• 17:15
  to
• 17:15
  pay
• 17:15
  it
• 17:15
  forward.
• 17:16
  And
• 17:16
  like
• 17:16
  you
• 17:17
  said,
• 17:17
  that's
• 17:17
  a
• 17:17
  great
• 17:17
  analogy.
• 17:18
  When
• 17:18
  the
• 17:18
  music
• 17:18
  stops
• 17:19
  and
• 17:19
  you're
• 17:20
  the
• 17:20
  project,
• 17:20
  you're
• 17:20
  in
• 17:20
  trouble.
• 17:21
  That's
• 17:21
  exactly
• 17:22
  right.
• 17:22
  That's
• 17:23
  exactly
• 17:23
  right.
• 17:23
  So.
• 17:24
  And
• 17:24
  right
• 17:25
  now
• 17:25
  we're
• 17:25
  into,
• 17:26
  you
• 17:26
  know,
• 17:26
  I
• 17:26
  think
• 17:26
  that's.
• 17:27
  But
• 17:27
  looking
• 17:27
  at
• 17:28
  construction
• 17:28
  right
• 17:28
  now,
• 17:28
  at
• 17:29
  least
• 17:29
  on
• 17:29
  the
• 17:29
  west
• 17:29
  coast,
• 17:30
  we're
• 17:31
  kind
• 17:31
  of
• 17:31
  in
• 17:31
  one
• 17:31
  of
• 17:31
  Those,
• 17:32
  you
• 17:32
  know,
• 17:33
  2007,
• 17:33
  2008,
• 17:34
  2011,
• 17:35
  12
• 17:36
  areas
• 17:36
  right
• 17:37
  now
• 17:37
  where
• 17:37
  things
• 17:38
  have
• 17:38
  slowed
• 17:38
  down
• 17:39
  a
• 17:39
  little
• 17:39
  bit.
• 17:39
  And,
• 17:40
  you
• 17:40
  know,
• 17:40
  people
• 17:40
  with
• 17:40
  the
• 17:41
  election,
• 17:41
  this
• 17:41
  is
• 17:41
  kind
• 17:41
  of
• 17:42
  another
• 17:42
  one
• 17:42
  of
• 17:42
  those
• 17:42
  election
• 17:42
  things.
• 17:43
  So,
• 17:43
  again,
• 17:44
  it's
• 17:44
  one
• 17:44
  of
• 17:44
  those
• 17:44
  times
• 17:44
  that
• 17:45
  you
• 17:45
  gotta
• 17:45
  be
• 17:45
  really
• 17:45
  careful
• 17:46
  because
• 17:47
  after
• 17:47
  booms,
• 17:48
  you
• 17:48
  see
• 17:48

  the
• 17:49
  contractors
• 17:49
  go
• 17:49
  down.
• 17:50
  Cause
• 17:50
  they've
• 17:50
  been
• 17:50
  flying,
• 17:51
  they're
• 17:51
  not
• 17:51
  watching
• 17:51
  their
• 17:51
  books,
• 17:52
  and
• 17:52
  all
• 17:52
  of
• 17:52
  a
• 17:52
  sudden
• 17:53
  they're
• 17:53
  like,
• 17:53
  hey,
• 17:53
  I
• 17:53
  just
• 17:54
  paid
• 17:54
  my
• 17:54
  bills
• 17:55
  and
• 17:55
  I'm
• 17:55
  way
• 17:55
  short.
• 17:56
  Yeah,
• 17:57
  yeah.
• 17:58
  And,
• 17:58
  you
• 17:58
  know,
• 17:58
  so,
• 17:58
  yeah,
• 17:59
  I
• 17:59
  mean,
• 17:59
  it's
• 17:59
  a
• 17:59
  real
• 17:59
  tough
• 18:00
  thing.
• 18:00
  And
• 18:00
  here
• 18:00
  in
• 18:00
  Florida,
• 18:00
  you
• 18:01
  know,
• 18:01
  we've
• 18:01
  had
• 18:01
  a
• 18:02
  few
• 18:02
  hurricanes
• 18:02
  blow
• 18:03
  through
• 18:03
  here
• 18:03
  over
• 18:03
  the
• 18:04
  last
• 18:04
  12
• 18:04
  months.
• 18:04
  You
• 18:05
  know,
• 18:05
  we
• 18:05
  got
• 18:05
  contractors
• 18:05
  who
• 18:06
  are
• 18:06
  coming
• 18:06
  in
• 18:06
  from
• 18:06
  other
• 18:06
  states,
• 18:07
  which
• 18:07
  is
• 18:07
  fine.
• 18:08
  We
• 18:09
  need
• 18:09
  the
• 18:09
  help.
• 18:09
  I
• 18:09
  mean,
• 18:09
  we
• 18:10
  really
• 18:10
  do
• 18:10
  need
• 18:10
  the
• 18:10
  manpower
• 18:11
  for
• 18:11
  sure.
• 18:12
  But,
• 18:12
  you
• 18:12
  know,
• 18:12
  you
• 18:13
  just
• 18:13
  got
• 18:13
  to
• 18:13
  be
• 18:13
  extra
• 18:14
  careful
• 18:14
  and
• 18:14
  diligent
• 18:15
  about
• 18:15
  who
• 18:15
  you're
• 18:16
  hiring
• 18:16
  and
• 18:16
  making
• 18:16
  sure
• 18:16
  that
• 18:17
  they're
• 18:17
  authorized
• 18:17
  to
• 18:17
  do,
• 18:18
  you
• 18:18
  know,
• 18:18
  the
• 18:18
  work.
• 18:19
  And
• 18:19
  then
• 18:19
  one
• 18:19
  final
• 18:20
  thing,
• 18:20
  we
• 18:20
  ask,
• 18:20
  you
• 18:20
  know,
• 18:20
  the
• 18:20
  owners,
• 18:21
  we
• 18:21
  encourage
• 18:22
  the
• 18:22
  owners
• 18:22
  to
• 18:22
  do
• 18:22
  before
• 18:23
  they
• 18:23
  hire
• 18:23
  a
• 18:23
  contractor.
• 18:24
  You
• 18:24
  ask
• 18:25
  for
• 18:25
  a
• 18:25
  reference.
• 18:25
  And,
• 18:25
  you
• 18:26
  know,
• 18:26
  of
• 18:26
  course
• 18:26
  the
• 18:26
  contractor
• 18:27
  will
• 18:27
  give
• 18:27
  you
• 18:27
  a
• 18:27
  couple
• 18:27
  of
• 18:28
  happy
• 18:29
  clients
• 18:29
  that
• 18:29
  they
• 18:29
  had.
• 18:30
  But
• 18:30
  there
• 18:30
  are.
• 18:31
  We've
• 18:31
  got
• 18:31
  this
• 18:31
  list
• 18:32
  of
• 18:32
  25
• 18:32
  questions
• 18:33
  that
• 18:33
  we
• 18:33
  give
• 18:33
  to
• 18:34
  people
• 18:34
  as
• 18:35
  a
• 18:35
  free
• 18:35
  resource
• 18:35
  of
• 18:36
  questions
• 18:36
  they
• 18:36
  should
• 18:36
  be
• 18:37
  asking
• 18:37
  their
• 18:37
  contractors.
• 18:38
  And
• 18:38
  it's
• 18:38
  not
• 18:38
  just,
• 18:38
  hey,
• 18:39
  did
• 18:39
  they
• 18:39
  do
• 18:40
  good
• 18:40
  work?
• 18:40
  I
• 18:40
  mean,
• 18:41
  you
• 18:41
  want
• 18:41
  to
• 18:41
  know,
• 18:42
  were
• 18:42
  you
• 18:42
  given
• 18:42
  a
• 18:43
  dedicated
• 18:43
  person
• 18:43
  to
• 18:44
  address
• 18:44
  questions
• 18:44
  or
• 18:45
  concerns
• 18:45
  with?
• 18:45
  Did
• 18:46
  you
• 18:46
  ever
• 18:46
  catch
• 18:46
  them
• 18:47
  in
• 18:47
  a
• 18:47
  lie?
• 18:47
  How
• 18:48
  did
• 18:48
  they
• 18:48
  do
• 18:48
  completion
• 18:49
  time
• 18:49
  versus
• 18:49
  what
• 18:50
  they
• 18:50
  promised?
• 18:51
  Did
• 18:51
  they
• 18:51
  show
• 18:51
  respect
• 18:52
  for
• 18:52
  your
• 18:52
  home?
• 18:52
  Did
• 18:52
  they
• 18:52
  cover
• 18:53
  the
• 18:53
  floors
• 18:53
  when
• 18:53
  they
• 18:53
  were
• 18:54
  traipsing
• 18:55
  through
• 18:55
  there
• 18:56
  with.
• 18:56
  With
• 18:56
  bringing
• 18:57
  old
• 18:57
  material
• 18:57
  out
• 18:57
  and
• 18:58
  new
• 18:58
  material
• 18:58
  in?
• 18:59
  Did
• 18:59
  they
• 18:59
  respect
• 18:59
  the
• 19:00
  rules
• 19:00
  of
• 19:00
  your
• 19:00
  home?
• 19:01
  You
• 19:01
  know,
• 19:02
  and
• 19:02
  all
• 19:02
  the
• 19:03
  how
• 19:03
  is
• 19:03
  the
• 19:04
  rest
• 19:04
  of
• 19:04
  their
• 19:04
  communication?
• 19:05
  All
• 19:05
  of
• 19:05
  these
• 19:05
  things
• 19:05
  that
• 19:06
  you
• 19:06
  may
• 19:06
  not
• 19:06
  think
• 19:07
  to
• 19:07
  even
• 19:07
  ask
• 19:08
  somebody
• 19:09
  you
• 19:09
  know,
• 19:09
  but
• 19:09
  are
• 19:10
  important
• 19:10
  to
• 19:10
  you
• 19:10
  as
• 19:10
  a
• 19:10
  homeowner
• 19:11
  that
• 19:11
  you're
• 19:11
  going
• 19:11
  to
• 19:11
  want
• 19:11
  to
• 19:11
  know.
• 19:12
  So,
• 19:12
  you
• 19:13
  know,
• 19:13
  that's
• 19:13
  super
• 19:14
  important,
• 19:14
  too.
• 19:14
  Great
• 19:15
  stuff.
• 19:15
  One
• 19:15
  of
• 19:15
  the
• 19:16
  things
• 19:16
  that
• 19:16
  I
• 19:16
  think
• 19:16
  it's
• 19:16
  missed
• 19:17
  as
• 19:17
  well,
• 19:17
  even
• 19:17
  in
• 19:17
  a
• 19:17
  good
• 19:18
  contract
• 19:18
  that
• 19:19
  I've
• 19:19
  seen,
• 19:19
  that's
• 19:19
  just.
• 19:20
  And
• 19:20
  you're
• 19:20
  going
• 19:20
  to
• 19:21
  smile
• 19:21
  and
• 19:21
  laugh
• 19:22
  at
• 19:22
  this.
• 19:22
  But.
• 19:22
  But
• 19:23
  payment
• 19:23
  schedule,
• 19:24
  down
• 19:24
  payment,
• 19:25
  when's
• 19:25
  the
• 19:26
  money
• 19:26
  changing
• 19:26
  hands?
• 19:27
  Right,
• 19:28
  right.
• 19:28
  And
• 19:29
  that's
• 19:29
  important
• 19:29
  both
• 19:30
  ways.
• 19:30
  I
• 19:30
  mean,
• 19:30
  it's
• 19:30
  important.
• 19:31
  So
• 19:32
  we
• 19:32
  try
• 19:32
  to
• 19:32
  encourage
• 19:33
  our
• 19:33
  homeowners.
• 19:34
  You
• 19:34
  kind
• 19:34
  of
• 19:34
  want
• 19:34
  to
• 19:34
  see
• 19:35
  the
• 19:35
  payments
• 19:35
  on
• 19:35
  sort
• 19:35
  of
• 19:35
  a
• 19:36
  bell
• 19:36
  curve.
• 19:36
  Right.
• 19:36
  You've
• 19:36
  got
• 19:37
  10
• 19:37
  or
• 19:37
  20%
• 19:38
  at
• 19:38
  the
• 19:38
  beginning,
• 19:38
  10
• 19:38
  or
• 19:39
  20%
• 19:39
  at
• 19:39
  the
• 19:39
  end.
• 19:40
  Everything
• 19:40
  else
• 19:40
  kind
• 19:40
  of
• 19:41
  in
• 19:41
  the
• 19:41
  middle.
• 19:42
  You
• 19:42
  don't
• 19:42
  want
• 19:42
  to
• 19:43
  give
• 19:43
  away
• 19:43
  too
• 19:43
  much
• 19:43
  leverage
• 19:44
  at
• 19:44
  the
• 19:44
  front
• 19:45
  end,
• 19:45
  but
• 19:46
  you
• 19:46
  do
• 19:46
  need
• 19:47
  to
• 19:47
  make
• 19:47
  sure
• 19:47
  money
• 19:47
  is
• 19:47
  flowing.
• 19:48
  So
• 19:49
  the
• 19:49
  job
• 19:49
  runs
• 19:49
  from
• 19:49
  a
• 19:49
  contractor
• 19:50
  perspective.
• 19:51
  You
• 19:51
  know,
• 19:51
  I.
• 19:52
  I've
• 19:52
  seen.
• 19:52
  Here's
• 19:53
  a
• 19:53
  great
• 19:53
  example,
• 19:53
  you
• 19:53
  know,
• 19:54
  remainder
• 19:54
  of
• 19:54
  payment
• 19:55
  when
• 19:55
  job
• 19:55
  is
• 19:56
  complete.
• 19:56
  What
• 19:56
  does
• 19:56
  that
• 19:57
  mean?
• 19:57
  That's
• 19:57
  a
• 19:57
  gray
• 19:57
  area.
• 19:57
  What
• 19:57
  is
• 19:58
  job
• 19:58
  complete?
• 19:58
  Like,
• 19:58
  I
• 19:58
  don't
• 19:59
  know
• 19:59
  what
• 19:59
  that
• 19:59
  means.
• 19:59
  Right.
• 19:59
  Like,
• 20:00
  does
• 20:00
  that
• 20:00
  mean
• 20:00
  when
• 20:00
  it's
• 20:01
  past
• 20:01
  inspection?
• 20:01
  Does
• 20:02
  that
• 20:02
  mean
• 20:02
  when
• 20:02
  you
• 20:02
  finish
• 20:03
  my
• 20:03
  punch
• 20:03
  list,
• 20:03
  you
• 20:03
  know,
• 20:04
  what
• 20:04
  is.
• 20:04
  What
• 20:04
  does
• 20:04
  that
• 20:04
  mean?
• 20:05
  So.
• 20:05
  So
• 20:05
  that
• 20:06
  just.
• 20:06
  That
• 20:06
  is
• 20:06
  all
• 20:07
  this
• 20:07
  gray
• 20:07
  area
• 20:07
  of.
• 20:07
  To
• 20:08
  be
• 20:08
  that
• 20:08
  you
• 20:08
  could
• 20:08
  spend
• 20:09
  $100,000
• 20:10
  litigating
• 20:10
  if
• 20:11
  you
• 20:11
  really
• 20:11
  wanted
• 20:12
  to,
• 20:12
  that
• 20:12
  you
• 20:12
  shouldn't
• 20:12
  have
• 20:13
  to.
• 20:13
  And,
• 20:13
  yeah.
• 20:13
  So
• 20:14
  clarity
• 20:14
  is
• 20:15
  on
• 20:15
  the.
• 20:15
  In
• 20:15
  and
• 20:15
  around
• 20:16
  the
• 20:16
  payment.
• 20:16
  We
• 20:17
  covered.
• 20:17
  We
• 20:17
  covered
• 20:18
  here.
• 20:18
  You
• 20:18
  probably
• 20:18
  saw
• 20:19
  this
• 20:19
  on
• 20:19
  the
• 20:19
  news,
• 20:19
  and
• 20:19
  maybe
• 20:20
  it
• 20:20
  was
• 20:20
  a
• 20:20
  national
• 20:20
  story,
• 20:21
  but.
• 20:21
  But
• 20:21
  we
• 20:22
  covered
• 20:22
  it
• 20:22
  here
• 20:23
  on
• 20:23
  the
• 20:23
  show
• 20:23
  here
• 20:24
  a
• 20:24
  couple
• 20:24
  years
• 20:25
  back.
• 20:25
  And
• 20:25
  my
• 20:26
  friend
• 20:26
  Amber,
• 20:26
  if
• 20:27
  she's
• 20:27
  listening,
• 20:27
  she's
• 20:28
  just
• 20:28
  shaking
• 20:28
  her
• 20:28
  head
• 20:28
  right
• 20:28
  now
• 20:28
  going,
• 20:29
  okay,
• 20:29
  I'm
• 20:29
  going
• 20:29
  on
• 20:29
  the
• 20:29
  radio
• 20:30
  again
• 20:30
  with
• 20:30
  this.
• 20:30
  But
• 20:31
  she
• 20:31
  was
• 20:31
  in
• 20:31
  Colorado.
• 20:32
  Yes.
• 20:33
  The
• 20:33
  guy.
• 20:34
  And
• 20:34
  knocked
• 20:34
  out
• 20:35
  the.
• 20:35
  I
• 20:36
  know
• 20:36
  exactly
• 20:36
  what
• 20:36
  you're
• 20:36
  talking
• 20:37
  about.
• 20:37
  I
• 20:37
  use
• 20:37
  that
• 20:37
  as
• 20:38
  a
• 20:38
  case
• 20:38
  study
• 20:38
  for
• 20:39
  something
• 20:39
  I
• 20:39
  did
• 20:39
  once.
• 20:40
  So
• 20:40
  she's
• 20:40
  a
• 20:40
  friend
• 20:41
  of
• 20:41
  mine.
• 20:41
  Those
• 20:42
  were
• 20:42
  friends
• 20:42
  of
• 20:43
  the
• 20:43
  show
• 20:44
  that
• 20:44
  went
• 20:44
  out
• 20:44
  and
• 20:45
  put
• 20:45
  the
• 20:45
  house
• 20:46
  back
• 20:46
  together
• 20:46
  for
• 20:46
  her
• 20:47
  for
• 20:47
  sure.
• 20:47
  Awesome.
• 20:48
  So,
• 20:48
  I
• 20:49
  mean,
• 20:49
  we.
• 20:49
  We
• 20:49
  did
• 20:50
  a
• 20:50
  radio
• 20:50
  interview
• 20:51
  basically
• 20:52
  live
• 20:53
  that
• 20:53
  we
• 20:53
  recorded
• 20:54
  as
• 20:54
  they
• 20:55
  were
• 20:55
  working
• 20:55
  and
• 20:55
  setting
• 20:56
  tile
• 20:56
  out
• 20:56
  there
• 20:56
  in
• 20:57
  the
• 20:57
  house,
• 20:57
  which
• 20:57
  was
• 20:57
  cool.
• 20:58
  So
• 20:58
  it
• 20:59
  was
• 20:59
  fun
• 20:59
  to
• 20:59
  see.
• 21:00
  But,
• 21:00
  you
• 21:00
  know,
• 21:00
  that
• 21:01
  contractor
• 21:01
  who
• 21:02
  showed
• 21:02
  up
• 21:02
  early,
• 21:03
  she
• 21:04
  wasn't
• 21:04
  home,
• 21:05
  didn't
• 21:05
  have
• 21:05
  access,
• 21:06
  legal
• 21:06
  access
• 21:06
  to
• 21:06
  the
• 21:07
  house
• 21:07
  because
• 21:07
  she
• 21:07
  had
• 21:08
  notified
• 21:08
  him
• 21:08
  not
• 21:09
  to
• 21:09
  come
• 21:09
  in
• 21:09
  there
• 21:10
  because
• 21:10
  there
• 21:10
  was
• 21:10
  a
• 21:10
  dispute
• 21:11
  over
• 21:11
  the
• 21:11
  quality
• 21:11
  workmanship
• 21:12
  and
• 21:12
  other
• 21:12
  stuff.
• 21:12
  And
• 21:13
  he
• 21:13
  said,
• 21:13
  hey,
• 21:13
  I
• 21:13
  want
• 21:13
  to
• 21:13
  get
• 21:13
  paid.
• 21:14
  Came
• 21:14
  over
• 21:15
  and
• 21:15
  decided
• 21:15
  to,
• 21:15
  for
• 21:16
  the
• 21:16
  people
• 21:16
  that
• 21:16
  are
• 21:16
  listening,
• 21:17
  repossess
• 21:18
  the
• 21:18
  bathroom
• 21:18
  remodel
• 21:19
  with
• 21:19
  a
• 21:19
  sledgehammer.
• 21:20
  Yeah.
• 21:20
  And
• 21:20
  so
• 21:21
  he
• 21:21
  came
• 21:21
  in
• 21:21
  and
• 21:21
  started
• 21:22
  swinging.
• 21:22
  And
• 21:23
  I'll
• 21:23
  be
• 21:24
  the
• 21:24
  first
• 21:24
  to
• 21:24
  say
• 21:24
  this
• 21:25
  looked
• 21:25
  like
• 21:25
  a
• 21:25
  blind
• 21:26
  7
• 21:26
  year
• 21:27
  old
• 21:27
  did
• 21:27
  their
• 21:27
  first
• 21:27
  tile
• 21:28
  job.
• 21:29
  It
• 21:29
  was
• 21:29
  just,
• 21:30
  and
• 21:30
  I
• 21:31
  apologize
• 21:31
  to
• 21:31
  the
• 21:31
  blind
• 21:32
  7
• 21:32
  year
• 21:32
  olds
• 21:32
  that
• 21:33
  are
• 21:33
  out
• 21:33
  there.
• 21:33
  I'm
• 21:33
  not
• 21:34
  justice,
• 21:34
  but
• 21:35
  I
• 21:35
  don't
• 21:35
  want
• 21:35
  to
• 21:35
  insult
• 21:36
  you
• 21:36
  here,
• 21:36
  but
• 21:36
  holy
• 21:37
  smokes.
• 21:38
  Yeah.
• 21:38
  This
• 21:38
  was
• 21:39
  one
• 21:39
  of
• 21:39
  the
• 21:39
  worst
• 21:39
  tile
• 21:39
  jobs
• 21:40
  I
• 21:40
  ever
• 21:40
  seen.
• 21:41
  And
• 21:41
  the
• 21:41
  end
• 21:41
  result,
• 21:42
  he
• 21:42
  ended
• 21:42
  up
• 21:42
  going
• 21:43
  to
• 21:43
  jail
• 21:43
  for
• 21:43
  that
• 21:43
  and
• 21:44
  his
• 21:44
  wife
• 21:44
  ended
• 21:44
  up
• 21:45
  going
• 21:45
  on
• 21:45
  probation.
• 21:46
  But
• 21:46
  that
• 21:47
  was
• 21:47
  jail
• 21:47
  time
• 21:47
  for
• 21:48
  him.
• 21:48
  And
• 21:48
  it
• 21:48
  should
• 21:49
  be.
• 21:49
  It
• 21:50
  should
• 21:50
  be.
• 21:50
  And
• 21:50
  that
• 21:50
  was
• 21:51
  not
• 21:51
  the
• 21:51
  only
• 21:51
  time
• 21:52
  he's
• 21:52
  done
• 21:52
  this.
• 21:53
  And
• 21:53
  now
• 21:53
  I've
• 21:54
  heard
• 21:54
  he's
• 21:54
  left
• 21:54
  the
• 21:54
  state
• 21:55
  and
• 21:55
  is
• 21:55
  out
• 21:56
  doing
• 21:56
  business
• 21:56
  someplace
• 21:57
  else.
• 21:57
  But,
• 21:58
  you
• 21:59
  know,
• 21:59
  that's
• 21:59
  one
• 22:00
  of
• 22:00
  those
• 22:00
  things.
• 22:00
  He's
• 22:00
  on
• 22:00
  probation
• 22:01
  for
• 22:01
  a
• 22:01
  while
• 22:02
  and,
• 22:02
  and
• 22:03
  obviously
• 22:04
  that
• 22:04
  is
• 22:04
  the
• 22:04
  worst
• 22:05
  case
• 22:05
  scenario
• 22:05
  for
• 22:06
  many
• 22:06
  people.
• 24:32
  But,
• 24:33
  you
• 24:33
  know,
• 24:33
  I
• 24:33
  felt
• 24:33
  bad
• 24:34
  as
• 24:34
  a
• 24:34
  single
• 24:34
  mom
• 24:35
  trying
• 24:36
  to
• 24:36
  navigate
• 24:36
  a
• 24:37
  remodel
• 24:37
  and
• 24:38
  this
• 24:38
  big
• 24:38
  guy's
• 24:39
  in
• 24:39
  there
• 24:39
  swinging
• 24:39
  a
• 24:40
  sledgehammer
• 24:40
  on
• 24:40
  the
• 24:40
  project.
• 24:42
  That's
• 24:42
  as
• 24:42
  bad
• 24:42
  as
• 24:42
  it
• 24:43
  gets.
• 24:43
  It
• 24:43
  totally
• 24:44
  is.
• 24:44
  And
• 24:44
  I
• 24:44
  mean,
• 24:44
  that
• 24:45
  just
• 24:45
  underscores
• 24:45
  the
• 24:45
  importance
• 24:46
  of
• 24:46
  picking
• 24:46
  the
• 24:46
  right
• 24:47
  contractor
• 24:48
  at
• 24:48
  the
• 24:48
  start
• 24:48
  of
• 24:49
  your
• 24:49
  job.
• 24:49
  You
• 24:49
  know,
• 24:49
  I
• 24:50
  mean,
• 24:50
  even
• 24:50
  if
• 24:50
  you
• 24:50
  don't
• 24:50
  even
• 24:50
  know
• 24:51
  where
• 24:51
  to
• 24:51
  turn
• 24:51
  and
• 24:52
  it's
• 24:52
  not,
• 24:52
  you
• 24:52
  know,
• 24:52
  it's
• 24:52
  not
• 24:52
  enough
• 24:53
  that,
• 24:53
  hey,
• 24:53
  they
• 24:53
  did
• 24:53
  a
• 24:53
  good
• 24:54
  job
• 24:54
  for
• 24:54
  my
• 24:54
  friend.
• 24:54
  I
• 24:55
  mean,
• 24:55
  that's
• 24:55
  okay.
• 24:56
  That's
• 24:56
  one
• 24:56
  box
• 24:56
  you
• 24:56
  could
• 24:57
  check.
• 24:57
  But
• 24:57
  you
• 24:57
  know,
• 24:57
  if
• 24:58
  you
• 24:58
  call
• 24:58
  your
• 24:58
  local
• 24:59
  builders
• 24:59
  association
• 25:00
  to
• 25:00
  get
• 25:00
  the
• 25:01
  name
• 25:01
  of
• 25:01
  somebody,
• 25:01
  if
• 25:02
  you
• 25:02
  really
• 25:02
  don't
• 25:02
  even
• 25:02
  know
• 25:02
  where
• 25:03
  to
• 25:03
  start,
• 25:03
  you
• 25:03
  know,
• 25:04
  the
• 25:04
  local
• 25:04
  builders
• 25:05
  association
• 25:05
  finding
• 25:06
  those,
• 25:06
  those
• 25:06
  contractors
• 25:07
  that.
• 25:07
  And
• 25:07
  remodelers
• 25:08
  that
• 25:08
  are,
• 25:08
  you
• 25:09
  know,
• 25:09
  have
• 25:09
  a
• 25:09
  membership
• 25:10
  with
• 25:10
  the
• 25:10
  national
• 25:10
  association
• 25:11
  of
• 25:11
  Home
• 25:11
  Builders
• 25:12
  Builders
• 25:12
  of
• 25:12
  the
• 25:12
  Florida
• 25:13
  Home
• 25:13
  Builder
• 25:13
  Association.
• 25:14
  You
• 25:14
  know,
• 25:14
  I
• 25:14
  mean,
• 25:15
  it,
• 25:15
  it's
• 25:15
  at
• 25:15
  least,
• 25:16
  it's
• 25:16
  some
• 25:16
  credibility.
• 25:16
  And
• 25:17
  it's,
• 25:17
  it's,
• 25:17
  it's,
• 25:18
  you'll
• 25:18
  know,
• 25:18
  it's
• 25:18
  someone
• 25:18
  who
• 25:18
  is
• 25:19
  at
• 25:19
  least
• 25:19
  cares
• 25:19
  about
• 25:19
  their
• 25:20
  reputation
• 25:20
  and
• 25:20
  standing
• 25:21
  in
• 25:21
  the
• 25:21
  community
• 25:21
  enough
• 25:22
  to,
• 25:22
  to
• 25:23
  have
• 25:23
  these
• 25:23
  sort
• 25:24
  of
• 25:24
  strategic
• 25:24
  alliances
• 25:25
  with
• 25:25
  the
• 25:25
  right
• 25:25
  groups
• 25:26
  of
• 25:26
  people.
• 25:26
  And
• 25:26
  that,
• 25:27
  that
• 25:27
  right
• 25:27
  there
• 25:28
  says
• 25:28
  something
• 25:28
  about
• 25:29
  the
• 25:29
  quality
• 25:29
  of
• 25:29
  the
• 25:29
  person
• 25:30
  you,
• 25:30
  you're
• 25:30
  dealing
• 25:30
  with.
• 25:31
  Yeah.
• 25:31
  And
• 25:31
  if
• 25:31
  you're
• 25:32
  doing
• 25:32
  maybe
• 25:32
  a
• 25:32
  kitchen
• 25:33
  or
• 25:33
  bathroom
• 25:34
  model
• 25:34
  or
• 25:34
  you're
• 25:34
  doing
• 25:34
  windows
• 25:35
  and
• 25:35
  doors,
• 25:36
  go
• 25:36
  into
• 25:36
  the
• 25:37
  showroom
• 25:37
  and
• 25:37
  ask
• 25:37
  around
• 25:37
  and
• 25:38
  go,
• 25:38
  hey,
• 25:38
  who's
• 25:38
  your
• 25:38
  favorite
• 25:39
  contract
• 25:39
  contractor
• 25:40
  around
• 25:40
  here?
• 25:41
  Because
• 25:41
  again,
• 25:42
  the
• 25:42
  ones
• 25:42
  that
• 25:43
  pay
• 25:43
  their
• 25:43
  bills
• 25:44
  and
• 25:44
  are
• 25:44
  the
• 25:44
  easiest
• 25:45
  to
• 25:45
  work
• 25:45
  with
• 25:45
  from
• 25:46
  the
• 25:46
  showroom
• 25:46
  status,
• 25:47
  you're
• 25:48
  a
• 25:48
  third
• 25:48
  of
• 25:48
  the
• 25:49
  way
• 25:49
  there
• 25:49
  already.
• 25:49
  That's
• 25:50
  a
• 25:50
  great.
• 25:50
  Yeah,
• 25:50
  that's
• 25:50
  great
• 25:50
  advice.
• 25:51
  Absolutely.
• 25:52
  You
• 25:52
  know,
• 25:52
  because
• 25:52
  I
• 25:53
  tell
• 25:53
  you
• 25:53
  what,
• 25:53
  it's
• 25:53
  just
• 25:54
  the
• 25:54
  ones
• 25:54
  that
• 25:54
  come
• 25:54
  in
• 25:54
  and
• 25:55
  start
• 25:55
  screaming
• 25:56
  and,
• 25:56
  oh,
• 25:56
  I'll
• 25:56
  pay
• 25:57
  next
• 25:57
  week.
• 25:58
  That's
• 25:58
  the
• 25:58
  one
• 25:58
  you're
• 25:58
  trying
• 25:59
  to
• 25:59
  avoid.
• 25:59
  And
• 26:00
  it's
• 26:00
  such
• 26:00
  a
• 26:00
  small
• 26:00
  percentage,
• 26:01
  but
• 26:01
  they
• 26:01
  do
• 26:01
  so
• 26:02
  much
• 26:02
  damage
• 26:02
  to
• 26:03
  the
• 26:03
  community
• 26:03
  when
• 26:03
  they
• 26:03
  do
• 26:04
  that.
• 26:04
  They
• 26:04
  really
• 26:05
  do.
• 26:05
  They
• 26:05
  do.
• 26:06
  So
• 26:07
  I
• 26:07
  don't
• 26:07
  know
• 26:07
  if
• 26:07
  you
• 26:07
  see
• 26:08
  this
• 26:08
  down
• 26:08
  there
• 26:08
  a
• 26:09
  lot,
• 26:09
  but
• 26:09
  up
• 26:10
  here,
• 26:10
  you
• 26:11
  know,
• 26:11
  we
• 26:11
  have
• 26:11
  on
• 26:12
  older
• 26:12
  homes,
• 26:12
  this
• 26:12
  is
• 26:13
  another
• 26:13
  one
• 26:13
  that
• 26:13
  gets
• 26:13
  to
• 26:13
  be
• 26:13
  big
• 26:14
  up
• 26:14
  here.
• 26:14
  If
• 26:14
  you've
• 26:14
  got
• 26:14
  a
• 26:15
  house
• 26:15
  in
• 26:15
  our
• 26:15
  area
• 26:15
  before
• 26:16
  1970,
• 26:17
  they
• 26:17
  have
• 26:17
  to
• 26:17
  be
• 26:17
  certified
• 26:18
  for
• 26:18
  working
• 26:19
  in
• 26:19
  a
• 26:19
  house
• 26:19
  that
• 26:20
  potentially
• 26:20
  could
• 26:20
  have
• 26:20
  lead
• 26:21
  paint.
• 26:21
  And
• 26:22
  that's
• 26:22
  another
• 26:22
  one
• 26:22
  of
• 26:22
  those.
• 26:23
  So
• 26:23
  if
• 26:23
  You've
• 26:23
  got
• 26:23
  a
• 26:23
  1976
• 26:24
  house
• 26:25
  in
• 26:26
  my
• 26:26
  area
• 26:26
  here
• 26:26
  in
• 26:27
  Washington,
• 26:27
  Oregon,
• 26:27
  they
• 26:27
  have
• 26:28
  to
• 26:28
  be
• 26:28
  a
• 26:28
  lead
• 26:28
  certified.
• 26:29
  Interesting.
• 26:30
  And
• 26:30
  so,
• 26:31
  and
• 26:31
  then
• 26:31
  of
• 26:32
  course
• 26:32
  we
• 26:32
  have.
• 26:33
  Which
• 26:33
  is
• 26:33
  kind
• 26:33
  of
• 26:33
  cool
• 26:34
  in
• 26:34
  Oregon,
• 26:34
  at
• 26:35
  least
• 26:35
  where
• 26:35
  I'm
• 26:35
  at,
• 26:36
  they
• 26:36
  have
• 26:36
  to
• 26:36
  have
• 26:36
  all
• 26:36
  the
• 26:37
  paperwork.
• 26:37
  They
• 26:37
  have
• 26:37
  to
• 26:38
  have
• 26:38
  the,
• 26:39
  you
• 26:39
  know,
• 26:39
  asbestos
• 26:40
  lead,
• 26:41
  all
• 26:41
  these
• 26:41
  addendums
• 26:42
  as
• 26:42
  part
• 26:42
  of
• 26:42
  the
• 26:42
  contract.
• 26:43
  So
• 26:43
  I
• 26:43
  always
• 26:43
  say,
• 26:44
  hey,
• 26:44
  reach
• 26:45
  out
• 26:45
  to
• 26:45
  your
• 26:46
  local,
• 26:46
  you
• 26:47
  know,
• 26:47
  licensing
• 26:47
  board
• 26:47
  and
• 26:48
  say,
• 26:48
  hey,
• 26:48
  what
• 26:48
  needs
• 26:48
  to
• 26:48
  be
• 26:49
  in
• 26:49
  the
• 26:49
  contract?
• 26:50
  Or
• 26:50
  our
• 26:50
  state?
• 26:51
  Because
• 26:51
  it
• 26:52
  seems
• 26:52
  like
• 26:52
  the
• 26:52
  guys
• 26:52
  that
• 26:52
  follow
• 26:53
  those
• 26:53
  rules
• 26:53
  tend
• 26:54
  to
• 26:54
  be
• 26:54
  more
• 26:54
  of
• 26:54
  a
• 26:54
  rule
• 26:55
  biter
• 26:55
  anyway.
• 26:56
  Yeah,
• 26:56
  and
• 26:57
  that's
• 26:57
  a
• 26:57
  great
• 26:58
  point.
• 26:58
  And
• 26:59
  every
• 26:59
  state
• 26:59
  I
• 26:59
  know,
• 26:59
  Florida
• 27:00
  has
• 27:00
  its
• 27:00
  own
• 27:00
  disclosures
• 27:01
  it
• 27:01
  requires
• 27:02
  in
• 27:02
  the
• 27:02
  contract.
• 27:03
  And
• 27:03
  to
• 27:03
  me,
• 27:04
  that's
• 27:05
  another
• 27:05
  sort
• 27:05
  of
• 27:05
  checkpoint.
• 27:06
  If
• 27:06
  you're
• 27:06
  given
• 27:07
  a
• 27:07
  contract
• 27:07
  from
• 27:08
  a
• 27:08
  contractor,
• 27:09
  does
• 27:10
  it
• 27:10
  look
• 27:10
  like
• 27:10
  a
• 27:11
  professional
• 27:11
  document?
• 27:12
  Does
• 27:12
  it
• 27:12
  look
• 27:12
  like
• 27:12
  a
• 27:13
  document
• 27:13
  that
• 27:13
  was
• 27:13
  drafted
• 27:14
  by
• 27:14
  a
• 27:14
  teenager
• 27:15
  or
• 27:15
  something?
• 27:15
  Again,
• 27:16
  you
• 27:16
  get
• 27:16
  that
• 27:16
  guy
• 27:17
  who
• 27:17
  left
• 27:17
  his
• 27:17
  other
• 27:17
  employer
• 27:18
  and
• 27:18
  he.
• 27:19
  He
• 27:19
  uses
• 27:19
  their
• 27:20
  contract
• 27:20
  and
• 27:20
  kind
• 27:20
  of
• 27:21
  Frankensteins
• 27:21
  it
• 27:21
  together
• 27:22
  with
• 27:22
  something
• 27:22
  he
• 27:22
  found
• 27:23
  on
• 27:23
  Google
• 27:23
  or
• 27:24
  ChatGPT
• 27:25
  prepare
• 27:25
  for
• 27:25
  him.
• 27:26
  And
• 27:27
  it's
• 27:27
  internally
• 27:27
  inconsistent.
• 27:28
  The
• 27:28
  margins
• 27:28
  are
• 27:29
  off.
• 27:29
  There's
• 27:29
  spelling
• 27:29
  mistakes.
• 27:30
  When
• 27:31
  you
• 27:31
  see
• 27:31
  something
• 27:31
  like
• 27:31
  that,
• 27:32
  that's
• 27:32
  another
• 27:33
  red
• 27:33
  flag
• 27:33
  that
• 27:33
  shows
• 27:34
  you
• 27:34
  how
• 27:34
  much
• 27:35
  attention
• 27:35
  to
• 27:35
  detail
• 27:36
  they
• 27:36
  pay
• 27:36
  on
• 27:37
  something
• 27:37
  that
• 27:37
  is
• 27:37
  supposed
• 27:38
  to
• 27:38
  be
• 27:38
  a
• 27:38
  super
• 27:38
  important
• 27:39
  document.
• 27:39
  And
• 27:40
  they
• 27:41
  either
• 27:41
  are
• 27:41
  not
• 27:41
  giving
• 27:42
  the
• 27:42
  right
• 27:42
  value
• 27:42
  and
• 27:43
  respect
• 27:43
  to
• 27:43
  a
• 27:43
  contract,
• 27:44
  or
• 27:45
  that's
• 27:45
  just
• 27:46
  the
• 27:46
  level
• 27:46
  of
• 27:46
  attention
• 27:47
  to
• 27:47
  detail
• 27:47
  they
• 27:47
  give
• 27:48
  everything.
• 27:48
  So
• 27:48
  either
• 27:48
  way,
• 27:50
  it's
• 27:50
  not
• 27:50
  the
• 27:50
  contractor
• 27:51
  you
• 27:51
  want.
• 27:52
  Exactly.
• 27:53
  Now
• 27:53
  here's
• 27:53
  one
• 27:53
  of
• 27:53
  the
• 27:53
  Biggest
• 27:54
  panics
• 27:54
  that
• 27:54
  I
• 27:54
  see
• 27:55
  from
• 27:55
  homeowners.
• 27:56
  They're
• 27:56
  in
• 27:56
  the
• 27:56
  middle
• 27:56
  of
• 27:56
  the
• 27:56
  project
• 27:57
  and
• 27:57
  all
• 27:57
  of
• 27:57
  a
• 27:57
  sudden
• 27:57
  they
• 27:58
  get
• 27:58
  a
• 27:58
  lien
• 27:58
  release
• 27:59
  that
• 27:59
  shows
• 27:59
  up
• 27:59
  in
• 27:59
  the
• 27:59
  mail,
• 27:59
  and
• 28:00
  they're
• 28:00
  like,
• 28:00
  what
• 28:00
  is
• 28:00
  this?
• 28:00
  What's
• 28:01
  going
• 28:01
  on?
• 28:02
  Liens
• 28:02
  are
• 28:02
  an
• 28:02
  interesting
• 28:03
  one.
• 28:03
  Yeah,
• 28:04
  yeah,
• 28:05
  liens
• 28:06
  are.
• 28:06
  I
• 28:06
  mean,
• 28:07
  most
• 28:07
  homeowners,
• 28:08
  they
• 28:08
  just
• 28:08
  don't.
• 28:08
  They
• 28:08
  don't
• 28:09
  even
• 28:09
  understand
• 28:10
  what's
• 28:10
  happening,
• 28:11
  what
• 28:11
  they
• 28:11
  get.
• 28:11
  So
• 28:11
  in
• 28:11
  Florida,
• 28:12
  you
• 28:12
  know,
• 28:13
  if
• 28:13
  you
• 28:13
  have.
• 28:13
  If
• 28:13
  you
• 28:13
  have
• 28:13
  a
• 28:14
  direct
• 28:14
  relationship
• 28:14
  with
• 28:15
  the
• 28:15
  contractor,
• 28:15
  the
• 28:15
  kind
• 28:16
  you
• 28:16
  don't,
• 28:16
  the
• 28:16
  contract
• 28:16
  could
• 28:17
  lean
• 28:17
  your
• 28:17
  home
• 28:18
  for
• 28:18
  a
• 28:18
  subcontractor.
• 28:19
  Before
• 28:19
  they
• 28:19
  could
• 28:20
  do
• 28:20
  something
• 28:20
  like
• 28:20
  that,
• 28:20
  they
• 28:21
  have
• 28:21
  to
• 28:21
  give
• 28:21
  a
• 28:21
  notice
• 28:21
  to
• 28:21
  owner
• 28:22
  at
• 28:22
  the
• 28:22
  beginning
• 28:22
  of
• 28:22
  their
• 28:23
  work
• 28:23
  to
• 28:23
  let
• 28:23
  them
• 28:23
  know
• 28:24
  we're
• 28:24
  on
• 28:24
  the
• 28:24
  job,
• 28:24
  we
• 28:25
  expect
• 28:25
  to
• 28:25
  get
• 28:25
  paid,
• 28:26
  and
• 28:26
  there's
• 28:26
  a
• 28:27
  proper
• 28:27
  payments,
• 28:28
  proper
• 28:28
  way
• 28:28
  to
• 28:28
  make
• 28:28
  payments
• 28:29
  as
• 28:29
  long
• 28:29
  as
• 28:29
  you've
• 28:30
  gotten
• 28:30
  that
• 28:30
  notice.
• 28:30
  So
• 28:31
  they
• 28:31
  get
• 28:31
  that
• 28:31
  notice
• 28:31
  and
• 28:32
  they
• 28:32
  kind
• 28:32
  of
• 28:32
  freak
• 28:32
  out.
• 28:34
  The
• 28:34
  notice
• 28:34
  itself
• 28:34
  is
• 28:35
  not
• 28:35
  recorded
• 28:35
  in
• 28:35
  the
• 28:35
  public
• 28:36
  records,
• 28:36
  and
• 28:36
  they
• 28:36
  don't
• 28:36
  understand
• 28:37
  the
• 28:37
  significance
• 28:38
  of
• 28:38
  it.
• 28:40
  What
• 28:40
  I
• 28:41
  don't
• 28:41
  like
• 28:41
  seeing
• 28:41
  is
• 28:41
  when
• 28:42
  the
• 28:42
  subcontractors
• 28:43
  feel
• 28:43
  like
• 28:44
  giving
• 28:44
  that
• 28:44
  notice
• 28:44
  is
• 28:45
  an
• 28:45
  aggressive
• 28:45
  move
• 28:46
  and
• 28:46
  they
• 28:46
  don't
• 28:46
  want
• 28:46
  to
• 28:46
  do
• 28:47
  it,
• 28:47
  and
• 28:47
  then
• 28:47
  at
• 28:48
  the
• 28:48
  end
• 28:48
  of
• 28:48
  the
• 28:48
  job
• 28:48
  when
• 28:49
  they're
• 28:49
  not
• 28:49
  getting
• 28:49
  paid,
• 28:50
  then
• 28:50
  all
• 28:50
  of
• 28:50
  a
• 28:51
  sudden
• 28:51
  they're
• 28:51
  concerned.
• 28:52
  Well,
• 28:52
  that
• 28:52
  says,
• 28:53
  look,
• 28:53
  if
• 28:53
  you
• 28:53
  do
• 28:54
  the
• 28:54
  notice
• 28:54
  at
• 28:54
  the
• 28:54
  front
• 28:54
  end
• 28:55
  of
• 28:55
  the
• 28:55
  job,
• 28:55
  it's
• 28:56
  not
• 28:56
  an
• 28:56
  aggressive
• 28:56
  move.
• 28:57
  It's
• 28:57
  good
• 28:57
  business.
• 28:57
  And
• 28:58
  anyone
• 28:58
  doing
• 28:58
  business
• 28:58
  with
• 28:59
  you
• 28:59
  who
• 28:59
  knows
• 28:59
  what
• 28:59
  it
• 28:59
  is
• 29:00
  is
• 29:00
  going
• 29:00
  to
• 29:00
  know
• 29:00
  that
• 29:00
  you're
• 29:00
  doing
• 29:01
  business
• 29:01
  and
• 29:01
  trying
• 29:01
  to
• 29:01
  do
• 29:02
  it
• 29:02
  the
• 29:02
  right
• 29:02
  way.
• 29:03
  You're
• 29:03
  protecting
• 29:04
  your
• 29:05
  right
• 29:05
  to
• 29:05
  get
• 29:05
  paid,
• 29:06
  which
• 29:06
  I'm
• 29:06
  sure
• 29:07
  your
• 29:07
  wife
• 29:07
  and
• 29:08
  kids
• 29:08
  at
• 29:08
  home
• 29:08
  would
• 29:08
  really
• 29:08
  appreciate.
• 29:09
  So
• 29:11
  that's
• 29:11
  just
• 29:11
  the
• 29:11
  right
• 29:11
  way
• 29:11
  to
• 29:12
  do
• 29:12
  business.
• 29:12
  And
• 29:12
  I
• 29:12
  always
• 29:12
  encourage
• 29:13
  the
• 29:13
  contractors
• 29:14
  we
• 29:14
  work
• 29:14
  with.
• 29:15
  Absolutely.
• 29:15
  It's
• 29:16
  a
• 29:16
  part
• 29:16
  of
• 29:16
  your
• 29:16
  standard
• 29:17
  operating
• 29:17
  procedure.
• 29:17
  You
• 29:18
  send
• 29:18
  these
• 29:18
  things
• 29:18
  out
• 29:18
  to
• 29:19
  make
• 29:19
  sure
• 29:19
  you
• 29:19
  get
• 29:19
  paid.
• 29:20
  And
• 29:20
  yeah,
• 29:21
  at
• 29:21
  the
• 29:21
  time
• 29:21
  you
• 29:21
  send
• 29:21
  it,
• 29:22
  there's
• 29:22
  not
• 29:22
  a
• 29:23
  dispute.
• 29:23
  Usually
• 29:23
  there's
• 29:24
  no.
• 29:24
  But
• 29:24
  it's.
• 29:24
  It's.
• 29:25
  It's
• 29:25
  how
• 29:25
  you
• 29:25
  just
• 29:26
  protect
• 29:26
  yourself.
• 29:26
  And
• 29:26
  it's
• 29:26
  not
• 29:27
  a.
• 29:27
  It's
• 29:27
  not
• 29:27
  an
• 29:27
  aggressive
• 29:28
  move.
• 29:28
  It's
• 29:28
  the
• 29:28
  right
• 29:28
  thing
• 29:28
  to
• 29:28
  do.
• 29:29
  But
• 29:29
  for
• 29:29
  the
• 29:29
  contractors
• 29:30
  and
• 29:30
  subcontractors
• 29:31
  out
• 29:31
  there,
• 29:31
  if
• 29:32
  you
• 29:32
  were
• 29:32
  to
• 29:32
  give
• 29:32
  a
• 29:33
  simple
• 29:33
  call
• 29:33
  to
• 29:33
  the
• 29:33
  homeowner,
• 29:34
  explain
• 29:34
  that
• 29:35
  something's
• 29:35
  coming
• 29:35
  up,
• 29:35
  the
• 29:35
  mail
• 29:36
  might
• 29:37
  save
• 29:37
  you
• 29:37
  some
• 29:37
  headaches.
• 29:38
  Yeah,
• 29:38
  it's
• 29:38
  the
• 29:38
  communication
• 29:39
  thing
• 29:39
  again,
• 29:39
  we
• 29:39
  were
• 29:39
  talking
• 29:40
  about
• 29:40
  that
• 29:40
  is
• 29:41
  at
• 29:41
  the
• 29:41
  source
• 29:41
  of
• 29:42
  all
• 29:42
  of
• 29:43
  all
• 29:43
  the
• 29:43
  disputes.
• 29:44
  Oh,
• 29:44
  it
• 29:45
  is,
• 29:45
  it
• 29:45
  is.
• 29:46
  And
• 29:46
  it
• 29:46
  just
• 29:46
  Gets
• 29:47
  absolutely
• 29:47
  wilder
• 29:48
  from
• 29:48
  that.
• 29:49
  And,
• 29:49
  you
• 29:49
  know,
• 29:50
  the.
• 29:50
  What
• 29:51
  is
• 29:51
  your
• 29:51
  take?
• 29:52
  You
• 29:52
  know,
• 29:52
  I've
• 29:52
  run
• 29:52
  into
• 29:52
  a
• 29:52
  lot
• 29:53
  of
• 29:53
  problems
• 29:53
  with
• 29:54
  projects
• 29:55
  that
• 29:55
  people
• 29:55
  completed.
• 29:57
  Someone,
• 29:58
  usually
• 29:58
  the
• 29:58
  contractor,
• 29:59
  didn't
• 30:00
  ever
• 30:01
  get
• 30:01
  the
• 30:02
  sign
• 30:02
  off
• 30:02
  or
• 30:03
  the
• 30:03
  final
• 30:03
  inspection
• 30:05
  from
• 30:05
  the,
• 30:05
  you
• 30:06
  know,
• 30:06
  local
• 30:06
  governing
• 30:07
  body.
• 30:07
  Whoever
• 30:07
  you
• 30:08
  pulled
• 30:08
  the
• 30:08
  permit
• 30:08
  through,
• 30:09
  they
• 30:09
  never
• 30:09
  got
• 30:09
  that
• 30:10
  signed
• 30:10
  off.
• 30:10
  So
• 30:10
  everything's
• 30:11
  done.
• 30:11
  But
• 30:11
  it's
• 30:11
  still
• 30:12
  an
• 30:12
  open
• 30:12
  hanging
• 30:13
  permit
• 30:13
  out
• 30:13
  there
• 30:14
  that
• 30:14
  can
• 30:14
  cause
• 30:15
  you
• 30:15
  massive
• 30:16
  problems
• 30:17
  down
• 30:17
  the
• 30:17
  road.
• 30:18
  What
• 30:18
  do
• 30:18
  you
• 30:18
  recommend
• 30:18
  for
• 30:19
  homeowners
• 30:19
  like
• 30:19
  that?
• 30:19
  Because
• 30:20
  it's
• 30:20
  such
• 30:20
  a
• 30:20
  big
• 30:21
  part,
• 30:21
  but
• 30:21
  it's
• 30:21
  a
• 30:21
  little
• 30:22
  piece
• 30:22
  of
• 30:22
  paperwork
• 30:23
  that
• 30:23
  just
• 30:23
  seems
• 30:24
  to
• 30:24
  get
• 30:24
  missed,
• 30:24
  which
• 30:24
  can
• 30:25
  totally
• 30:25
  sideline
• 30:26
  the
• 30:26
  next
• 30:26
  project
• 30:26
  down
• 30:27
  the
• 30:27
  road.
• 30:27
  Yeah,
• 30:28
  and
• 30:28
  not
• 30:28
  only
• 30:28
  that,
• 30:28
  it
• 30:28
  could
• 30:28
  sideline
• 30:29
  your
• 30:29
  ability
• 30:29
  to
• 30:29
  sell
• 30:30
  the
• 30:30
  house
• 30:30
  because
• 30:30
  that
• 30:30
  will
• 30:31
  come
• 30:31
  up
• 30:31
  on
• 30:32
  a
• 30:32
  title
• 30:33
  search.
• 30:33
  The
• 30:33
  fact
• 30:33
  that
• 30:33
  you've
• 30:33
  got
• 30:34
  this
• 30:34
  open
• 30:34
  permit
• 30:35
  that
• 30:35
  needs
• 30:35
  to
• 30:35
  be
• 30:35
  closed.
• 30:35
  Closed.
• 30:36
  And
• 30:36
  so,
• 30:37
  yeah,
• 30:37
  I
• 30:37
  mean,
• 30:38
  as
• 30:38
  soon
• 30:38
  as
• 30:38
  you
• 30:38
  realize
• 30:39
  that
• 30:39
  that's
• 30:39
  happened,
• 30:40
  the
• 30:40
  less
• 30:40
  time
• 30:40
  that
• 30:40
  goes
• 30:41
  by,
• 30:41
  the
• 30:41
  better.
• 30:41
  You
• 30:42
  need
• 30:42
  to
• 30:42
  reach
• 30:42
  back
• 30:42
  out
• 30:43
  to
• 30:43
  the
• 30:43
  contractor
• 30:43
  to
• 30:44
  get
• 30:44
  them
• 30:44
  to
• 30:44
  take
• 30:45
  care
• 30:45
  of
• 30:45
  it.
• 30:45
  Now
• 30:45
  at
• 30:45
  that
• 30:45
  point,
• 30:46
  contractor's
• 30:47
  been
• 30:47
  paid
• 30:47
  his
• 30:47
  money,
• 30:47
  he's
• 30:48
  onto
• 30:48
  the
• 30:48
  next
• 30:48
  job.
• 30:49
  He's
• 30:49
  probably
• 30:49
  not
• 30:50
  really
• 30:51
  in
• 30:52
  a
• 30:52
  hurry
• 30:52
  to
• 30:52
  get
• 30:53
  this
• 30:53
  thing
• 30:53
  done
• 30:53
  for
• 30:53
  you.
• 30:54
  And
• 30:54
  that's
• 30:54
  where
• 30:55
  some
• 30:55
  additional
• 30:56
  pressure
• 30:56
  from
• 30:56
  a
• 30:57
  lawyer
• 30:57
  can
• 30:58
  get
• 30:58
  this
• 30:58
  done.
• 30:58
  Where
• 30:59
  the
• 30:59
  contractor
• 30:59
  realizes
• 31:00
  you're
• 31:00
  taking
• 31:00
  it
• 31:00
  seriously.
• 31:02
  That
• 31:02
  does.
• 31:02
  Keeping
• 31:03
  these
• 31:03
  permits
• 31:03
  open
• 31:03
  and
• 31:04
  not
• 31:04
  closing
• 31:04
  them
• 31:05
  technically
• 31:06
  can
• 31:06
  be
• 31:06
  a
• 31:06
  violation
• 31:07
  of.
• 31:07
  Of
• 31:07
  the
• 31:07
  licenses
• 31:08
  that
• 31:08
  they
• 31:08
  get
• 31:09
  your
• 31:09
  state
• 31:09
  license.
• 31:10
  So,
• 31:10
  I
• 31:10
  mean,
• 31:10
  there
• 31:10
  are
• 31:10
  some
• 31:11
  buttons
• 31:11
  that
• 31:11
  I
• 31:11
  know
• 31:11
  how
• 31:12
  to
• 31:12
  press
• 31:12
  as
• 31:12
  a
• 31:12
  lawyer
• 31:13
  that
• 31:13
  will
• 31:14
  get
• 31:14
  them
• 31:14
  to
• 31:14
  snap
• 31:15
  their
• 31:15
  attention
• 31:15
  back
• 31:15
  to
• 31:16
  you
• 31:16
  and
• 31:16
  get
• 31:17
  this
• 31:17
  taken
• 31:17
  care
• 31:17
  of
• 31:17
  for
• 31:17
  you.
• 31:18
  But
• 31:18
  otherwise,
• 31:18
  if
• 31:19
  for
• 31:19
  some
• 31:19
  reason
• 31:19
  the
• 31:19
  contractor
• 31:20
  might,
• 31:20
  they
• 31:20
  may
• 31:21
  be
• 31:21
  out
• 31:21
  of
• 31:21
  the
• 31:21
  picture.
• 31:21
  I
• 31:21
  mean,
• 31:23
  in
• 31:23
  which
• 31:23
  case
• 31:24
  you're
• 31:24
  going
• 31:24
  to
• 31:24
  have
• 31:24
  to
• 31:25
  go
• 31:25
  to
• 31:25
  the
• 31:25
  city,
• 31:26
  go
• 31:26
  to
• 31:26
  the
• 31:26
  county,
• 31:26
  whoever
• 31:27
  issued
• 31:27
  it,
• 31:27
  and
• 31:27
  find
• 31:27
  out
• 31:27
  what
• 31:27
  your
• 31:28
  other
• 31:28
  options
• 31:28
  are.
• 31:30
  Sometimes
• 31:30
  they
• 31:30
  let
• 31:31
  you
• 31:31
  move
• 31:31
  a
• 31:32
  permit
• 31:32
  over
• 31:32
  from
• 31:33
  the
• 31:33
  contractor
• 31:34
  to
• 31:34
  the
• 31:35
  owner
• 31:35
  and
• 31:35
  then
• 31:35
  you
• 31:36
  just
• 31:36
  have
• 31:36
  to
• 31:36
  get
• 31:36
  some
• 31:36
  other
• 31:37
  other
• 31:37
  contractor
• 31:38
  on
• 31:38
  board
• 31:38
  real
• 31:38
  briefly
• 31:39
  to,
• 31:39
  you
• 31:39
  know,
• 31:39
  to.
• 31:40
  To
• 31:40
  just
• 31:40
  kind
• 31:40
  of
• 31:41
  either
• 31:41
  finish
• 31:42
  out
• 31:42
  the
• 31:42
  work
• 31:42
  that
• 31:42
  might
• 31:43
  not
• 31:43
  be
• 31:43
  done
• 31:43
  or,
• 31:43
  you
• 31:44
  know,
• 31:44
  help
• 31:44
  you
• 31:44
  process
• 31:44
  through
• 31:45
  the
• 31:45
  rest
• 31:45
  of
• 31:45
  it.
• 31:45
  It
• 31:46
  shouldn't
• 31:46
  be
• 31:46
  too
• 31:46
  difficult,
• 31:47
  but
• 31:47
  you
• 31:47
  gotta.
• 31:47
  You
• 31:48
  call
• 31:48
  the
• 31:48
  county
• 31:48
  or
• 31:48
  the
• 31:49
  city.
• 31:49
  I
• 31:49
  had
• 31:50
  one
• 31:50
  here
• 31:50
  about
• 31:50
  five
• 31:51
  years
• 31:51
  ago
• 31:51
  in
• 31:51
  my
• 31:51
  design
• 31:52
  business
• 31:52
  that
• 31:53
  I
• 31:53
  went
• 31:53
  out,
• 31:53
  we
• 31:54
  started
• 31:54
  designing
• 31:54
  out
• 31:54
  the
• 31:54
  new
• 31:55
  kitchen.
• 31:55
  They
• 31:55
  were
• 31:55
  doing
• 31:55
  a
• 31:55
  kitchen
• 31:56
  remodel.
• 31:56
  This
• 31:56
  had
• 31:56
  been
• 31:56
  an
• 31:57
  addition
• 31:57
  20
• 31:58
  plus
• 31:58
  years
• 31:58
  ago.
• 31:59
  Reputable
• 32:00
  company
• 32:00
  in
• 32:00
  the
• 32:01
  area
• 32:01
  had
• 32:01
  done
• 32:01
  the
• 32:01
  addition
• 32:02
  in
• 32:02
  the
• 32:02
  new
• 32:02
  kitchen.
• 32:03
  They
• 32:03
  wanted
• 32:03
  an
• 32:03
  upgrade
• 32:04
  went
• 32:04
  in
• 32:04
  and
• 32:05
  did
• 32:05
  it.
• 32:05
  Contractor
• 32:06
  went
• 32:06
  down,
• 32:07
  go
• 32:07
  talk
• 32:07
  to
• 32:07
  the
• 32:08
  city
• 32:08
  to
• 32:08
  make
• 32:08
  sure
• 32:08
  on
• 32:09
  the
• 32:09
  permits.
• 32:09
  And
• 32:10
  they
• 32:10
  went,
• 32:10
  yeah,
• 32:10
  they
• 32:11
  never
• 32:11
  closed
• 32:11
  out
• 32:12
  that
• 32:12
  original
• 32:13
  one.
• 32:14
  So
• 32:15
  you
• 32:15
  now
• 32:15
  have
• 32:16
  to
• 32:16
  bring
• 32:16
  that
• 32:17
  space
• 32:17
  up
• 32:18
  to
• 32:18
  what
• 32:19
  was
• 32:19
  2017,
• 32:20
  2017,
• 32:21
  2018
• 32:21
  building
• 32:22
  code.
• 32:23
  So
• 32:23
  they
• 32:23
  were
• 32:23
  going
• 32:23
  to
• 32:23
  have
• 32:23
  to
• 32:24
  drywall,
• 32:25
  come
• 32:25
  down,
• 32:25
  insulate
• 32:26
  all
• 32:27
  these
• 32:27
  things.
• 32:28
  And
• 32:28
  it
• 32:28
  made
• 32:28
  the
• 32:28
  Kitch
• 32:29
  remodel
• 32:30
  really
• 32:30
  not
• 32:30
  possible
• 32:31
  within
• 32:31
  their
• 32:31
  budget
• 32:32
  because
• 32:32
  they
• 32:32
  were
• 32:33
  going
• 32:33
  to
• 32:33
  have
• 32:33
  to
• 32:33
  spend
• 32:33
  another
• 32:34
  40
• 32:34
  or
• 32:34
  $50,000
• 32:35
  in
• 32:35
  the
• 32:35
  entire
• 32:36
  edition
• 32:36
  just
• 32:37
  to
• 32:37
  bring
• 32:37
  it
• 32:37
  up
• 32:37
  to
• 32:37
  what
• 32:38
  would
• 32:38
  be
• 32:38
  the
• 32:38
  current
• 32:38
  code
• 32:39
  to
• 32:39
  get
• 32:39
  it
• 32:39
  signed
• 32:39
  off.
• 32:40
  Yeah.
• 32:40
  Yeah.
• 32:40
  Wow.
• 32:41
  That's,
• 32:41
  that's,
• 32:41
  you
• 32:41
  know,
• 32:42
  some
• 32:42
  of
• 32:42
  these
• 32:43
  stories
• 32:43
  are
• 32:43
  just,
• 32:43
  you
• 32:44
  know,
• 32:44
  it's
• 32:44
  just,
• 32:44
  it's
• 32:45
  sad
• 32:45
  for
• 32:45
  these
• 32:45
  homeowners
• 32:46
  and
• 32:46
  what
• 32:46
  they,
• 32:46
  what
• 32:46
  they
• 32:46
  go
• 32:47
  through
• 32:47
  sometimes
• 32:47
  when
• 32:47
  it's
• 32:48
  not,
• 32:48
  when
• 32:48
  they
• 32:48
  don't,
• 32:48
  when
• 32:48
  they're
• 32:48
  not
• 32:49
  hiring
• 32:49
  the
• 32:49
  right
• 32:49
  people
• 32:49
  to,
• 32:50
  you
• 32:50
  know,
• 32:50
  with
• 32:50
  the
• 32:51
  right
• 32:51
  qualifications.
• 32:52
  And
• 32:52
  it's
• 32:53
  another
• 32:53
  thing
• 32:53
  here
• 32:53
  that
• 32:53
  there's
• 32:54
  a
• 32:54
  big
• 32:54
  hole
• 32:54
  here
• 32:55
  in
• 32:55
  real
• 32:55
  estate
• 32:55
  that
• 32:55
  I
• 32:55
  see.
• 32:56
  And
• 32:56
  it
• 32:56
  comes
• 32:56
  up
• 32:56
  in
• 32:56
  remodeling.
• 32:57
  And
• 32:58
  I've
• 32:58
  had
• 32:58
  it
• 32:58
  happen.
• 32:59
  It
• 32:59
  was
• 32:59
  happening
• 32:59
  there
• 32:59
  probably
• 33:00
  once
• 33:00
  a
• 33:00
  year
• 33:00
  with
• 33:01
  unpermitted
• 33:02
  projects.
• 33:03
  So
• 33:03
  what
• 33:03
  would
• 33:03
  happen
• 33:03
  was,
• 33:04
  and
• 33:04
  let's
• 33:04
  say
• 33:04
  you
• 33:04
  got
• 33:04
  that
• 33:04
  1920s
• 33:06
  house
• 33:06
  that
• 33:07
  maybe
• 33:07
  it
• 33:07
  says
• 33:08
  it's
• 33:08
  1200
• 33:08
  square
• 33:09
  feet,
• 33:09
  but
• 33:09
  they
• 33:09
  finished
• 33:10
  the
• 33:10
  basement
• 33:10
  in
• 33:10
  the
• 33:10
  attic.
• 33:11
  And
• 33:11
  it's,
• 33:11
  you
• 33:12
  know,
• 33:12
  on
• 33:12
  the
• 33:12
  tax
• 33:12
  rate,
• 33:12
  it's
• 33:13
  now
• 33:13
  says
• 33:13
  it's
• 33:14
  2,800
• 33:14
  square
• 33:15
  feet.
• 33:15
  They
• 33:16
  go
• 33:16
  to
• 33:16
  pull
• 33:16
  a
• 33:16
  permit
• 33:17
  to
• 33:17
  do
• 33:17
  the
• 33:17
  remodel,
• 33:18
  cabinets
• 33:18
  are
• 33:19
  ordered,
• 33:19
  whatever,
• 33:20
  they're
• 33:20
  getting
• 33:20
  ready
• 33:20
  to
• 33:20
  start
• 33:20
  it
• 33:21
  first
• 33:21
  inspector
• 33:21
  shows
• 33:22
  up
• 33:22
  and
• 33:22
  goes,
• 33:22
  yeah,
• 33:22
  this
• 33:23
  second
• 33:23
  floor
• 33:23
  isn't
• 33:24
  on
• 33:24
  our
• 33:24
  plan.
• 33:24
  So
• 33:25
  we
• 33:25
  have
• 33:25
  to
• 33:26
  treat
• 33:26
  this
• 33:26
  entire
• 33:26
  floor
• 33:27
  like
• 33:27
  it's
• 33:27
  a
• 33:27
  new
• 33:27
  build,
• 33:28
  a
• 33:28
  new
• 33:29
  remodel.
• 33:29
  And
• 33:30
  it's
• 33:30
  something
• 33:30
  that
• 33:31
  I
• 33:31
  tell
• 33:31
  even
• 33:31
  people
• 33:31
  when
• 33:32
  they're
• 33:32
  buying
• 33:32
  homes,
• 33:33
  go
• 33:33
  talk
• 33:33
  to
• 33:33
  your
• 33:33
  building
• 33:34
  department.
• 33:34
  Don't
• 33:35
  pay
• 33:35
  attention
• 33:35
  to
• 33:35
  the
• 33:35
  tax
• 33:36
  person
• 33:36
  because
• 33:36
  if
• 33:36
  you
• 33:36
  told
• 33:36
  them
• 33:37
  it's
• 33:37
  an
• 33:37
  8,000
• 33:38
  square
• 33:38
  foot
• 33:38
  house,
• 33:39
  they'd
• 33:39
  be
• 33:39
  happy
• 33:39
  to
• 33:40
  tax
• 33:40
  you
• 33:40
  for
• 33:40
  that.
• 33:40
  But
• 33:41
  talk
• 33:41
  to
• 33:41
  your
• 33:41
  building
• 33:42
  department
• 33:42
  before
• 33:42
  and
• 33:43
  make
• 33:43
  sure
• 33:43
  that
• 33:44
  that
• 33:44
  number
• 33:45
  adds
• 33:45
  up
• 33:45
  to
• 33:45
  what
• 33:46
  the
• 33:46
  listing
• 33:46
  is
• 33:47
  to
• 33:47
  get
• 33:47
  what
• 33:47
  you're
• 33:47
  paying
• 33:48
  for.
• 33:48
  Absolutely.
• 33:49
  So
• 33:49
  the,
• 33:49
  the
• 33:49
  unpermitted
• 33:50
  work,
• 33:50
  I
• 33:50
  mean,
• 33:50
  it
• 33:51
  travels
• 33:51
  with
• 33:51
  the
• 33:51
  property.
• 33:52
  So
• 33:52
  even
• 33:52
  whether
• 33:53
  you
• 33:53
  knew
• 33:53
  or
• 33:53
  you
• 33:53
  didn't
• 33:54
  know
• 33:54
  that
• 33:54
  work
• 33:54
  was
• 33:54
  done
• 33:54
  without
• 33:55
  a
• 33:55
  permit
• 33:55
  on
• 33:55
  your
• 33:55
  property,
• 33:56
  it
• 33:56
  becomes
• 33:57
  your
• 33:57
  fault.
• 33:57
  If
• 33:57
  again,
• 33:57
  if
• 33:58
  the
• 33:58
  music
• 33:58
  stops
• 33:58
  and
• 33:59
  you're
• 33:59
  holding
• 33:59
  the.
• 34:00
  And
• 34:00
  in
• 34:01
  Florida,
• 34:01
  at
• 34:01
  least
• 34:02
  the
• 34:02
  owners
• 34:02
  of
• 34:03
  someone
• 34:03
  who
• 34:03
  sells
• 34:03
  a
• 34:03
  piece
• 34:04
  of
• 34:04
  property
• 34:04
  who
• 34:04
  knows
• 34:05
  that
• 34:05
  there's
• 34:05
  been
• 34:05
  work
• 34:05
  done
• 34:06
  without
• 34:06
  a
• 34:06
  permit.
• 34:06
  That's
• 34:07
  something
• 34:07
  that's
• 34:07
  material
• 34:08
  that
• 34:08
  they
• 34:08
  need
• 34:08
  to
• 34:08
  disclose
• 34:09
  whether
• 34:09
  they
• 34:09
  did
• 34:09
  the
• 34:10
  work
• 34:10
  or
• 34:10
  not.
• 34:10
  They
• 34:11
  don't
• 34:11
  often,
• 34:11
  but
• 34:12
  you
• 34:12
  should
• 34:12
  know
• 34:12
  to
• 34:12
  ask
• 34:13
  the
• 34:13
  right
• 34:13
  questions.
• 34:13
  Certainly
• 34:14
  if
• 34:14
  you're
• 34:14
  a
• 34:14
  homeowner
• 34:15
  buying
• 34:15
  a
• 34:15
  new
• 34:16
  home.
• 34:16
  But
• 34:16
  yeah,
• 34:16
  I
• 34:16
  mean,
• 34:17
  that
• 34:18
  becomes
• 34:18
  a
• 34:18
  problem.
• 34:19
  You
• 34:19
  inherit,
• 34:19
  and
• 34:20
  so
• 34:20
  you
• 34:20
  definitely,
• 34:21
  again,
• 34:21
  doing
• 34:22
  your
• 34:22
  due
• 34:22
  diligence
• 34:22
  and
• 34:23
  asking
• 34:23
  those
• 34:23
  questions.
• 34:24
  Great
• 34:24
  advice
• 34:24
  to
• 34:25
  go
• 34:25
  down
• 34:25
  to
• 34:25
  the.
• 34:26
  Check
• 34:26
  the
• 34:26
  building,
• 34:26
  the
• 34:27
  permit
• 34:27
  records
• 34:27
  for,
• 34:28
  you
• 34:28
  know,
• 34:28
  for
• 34:28
  the.
• 34:29
  For
• 34:29
  the
• 34:29
  property
• 34:29
  before
• 34:29
  you
• 34:29
  buy
• 34:30
  it.
• 34:30
  Yeah.
• 34:30
  Cause
• 34:31
  all
• 34:31
  it
• 34:31
  takes
• 34:31
  is
• 34:31
  that
• 34:31
  enclosed
• 34:32
  porch
• 34:32
  that
• 34:33
  was.
• 34:33
  Now
• 34:33
  that
• 34:33
  it's
• 34:33
  now
• 34:34
  the
• 34:34
  kitchen.
• 34:34
  Right.
• 34:35
  And
• 34:35
  you
• 34:35
  go
• 34:35
  to
• 34:35
  a
• 34:35
  kitchen
• 34:35
  remodel
• 34:36
  and
• 34:36
  they're
• 34:36
  like
• 34:37
  this
• 34:37
  square
• 34:37
  footage
• 34:38
  doesn't
• 34:38
  exist.
• 34:39
  So,
• 34:39
  yeah,
• 34:39
  we're
• 34:39
  treating
• 34:40
  this
• 34:40
  like
• 34:40
  a
• 34:40
  new
• 34:40
  addition.
• 34:41
  And
• 34:41
  now
• 34:41
  that
• 34:42
  $80,000
• 34:43
  remodel
• 34:43
  just
• 34:43
  turned
• 34:43
  into
• 34:44
  $160,000
• 34:45
  remodel
• 34:45
  and
• 34:45
  the
• 34:45
  budget's
• 34:46
  gone.
• 34:46
  Yeah.
• 34:47
  Yeah.
• 34:48
  So.
• 34:48
  So,
• 34:48
  yeah,
• 34:49
  it's
• 34:49
  crazy.
• 34:50
  What
• 34:50
  other.
• 34:50
  What
• 34:51
  other
• 34:51
  things
• 34:51
  are
• 34:51
  you
• 34:52
  seeing
• 34:52
  out
• 34:52
  there,
• 34:52
  Andy?
• 34:53
  You
• 34:53
  know,
• 34:53
  there's
• 34:54
  so
• 34:54
  many
• 34:54
  disputes
• 34:55
  that
• 34:55
  we
• 34:55
  see
• 34:55
  now
• 34:56
  with.
• 34:56
  With
• 34:57
  between
• 34:57
  homeowners
• 34:58
  and
• 34:58
  contractors.
• 34:59
  Nothing
• 35:00
  ever
• 35:00
  surprises
• 35:00
  me
• 35:01
  anymore.
• 35:01
  It
• 35:01
  seems
• 35:02
  just
• 35:02
  because
• 35:02
  of
• 35:02
  the
• 35:03
  technology
• 35:04
  and
• 35:05
  all
• 35:05
  the
• 35:05
  new
• 35:06
  stuff
• 35:06
  that
• 35:06
  we're
• 35:06
  putting
• 35:06
  in
• 35:06
  homes
• 35:07
  these
• 35:07
  days.
• 35:07
  It
• 35:07
  seems
• 35:08
  like
• 35:08
  it's
• 35:08
  just
• 35:08
  compounding
• 35:09
  the
• 35:09
  issues
• 35:10
  in
• 35:10
  the
• 35:10
  communication
• 35:11
  process.
• 35:12
  Yeah.
• 35:12
  You
• 35:12
  know,
• 35:12
  I
• 35:12
  mean,
• 35:13
  it's.
• 35:13
  Look
• 35:13
  as
• 35:14
  it
• 35:14
  is.
• 35:14
  Emails,
• 35:14
  texts,
• 35:15
  all
• 35:15
  of
• 35:15
  that
• 35:15
  stuff.
• 35:16
  I
• 35:16
  mean,
• 35:16
  they
• 35:16
  can
• 35:16
  be.
• 35:16
  They're
• 35:17
  so
• 35:17
  easy
• 35:17
  to
• 35:18
  misinterpret
• 35:19
  a
• 35:19
  tone.
• 35:19
  You
• 35:19
  can't
• 35:19
  read
• 35:19
  a
• 35:20
  tone
• 35:20
  into
• 35:20
  it.
• 35:20
  Right.
• 35:20
  So,
• 35:21
  I
• 35:21
  mean,
• 35:21
  it
• 35:21
  really.
• 35:21
  It
• 35:22
  becomes
• 35:22
  a
• 35:22
  little.
• 35:22
  It
• 35:22
  becomes
• 35:23
  a
• 35:23
  little
• 35:23
  dicey
• 35:24
  to
• 35:24
  really
• 35:24
  understand
• 35:24
  what
• 35:24
  someone
• 35:25
  is
• 35:25
  trying
• 35:25
  to,
• 35:25
  you
• 35:26
  know,
• 35:26
  relay
• 35:26
  to
• 35:27
  you.
• 35:27
  What
• 35:27
  do
• 35:27
  you
• 35:27
  mean?
• 35:28
  They
• 35:28
  put
• 35:28
  it
• 35:28
  all
• 35:28
  in
• 35:28
  caps.
• 35:29
  Are
• 35:29
  they
• 35:29
  yelling
• 35:29
  at
• 35:29
  me?
• 35:29
  What
• 35:29
  is
• 35:29
  it?
• 35:29
  You
• 35:30
  know,
• 35:30
  so
• 35:30
  like,
• 35:30
  it's.
• 35:31
  Yeah,
• 35:31
  but
• 35:32
  I
• 35:32
  mean,
• 35:32
  as
• 35:32
  far
• 35:32
  as,
• 35:33
  you
• 35:33
  know,
• 35:33
  I
• 35:33
  mean,
• 35:33
  as
• 35:33
  far
• 35:34
  as
• 35:34
  the
• 35:34
  disputes
• 35:34
  are
• 35:34
  concerned,
• 35:35
  you
• 35:35
  know,
• 35:36
  what's
• 35:36
  really
• 35:36
  confusing
• 35:37
  to
• 35:37
  a
• 35:37
  lot
• 35:37
  of
• 35:37
  homeowners
• 35:37
  is
• 35:38
  they
• 35:38
  get
• 35:38
  a
• 35:38
  price
• 35:38
  given
• 35:38
  to
• 35:39
  them
• 35:39
  in
• 35:39
  a
• 35:39
  contract,
• 35:39
  and
• 35:39
  they
• 35:40
  don't
• 35:40
  really
• 35:40
  understand
• 35:41
  whether
• 35:41
  or
• 35:41
  not
• 35:41
  that's
• 35:42
  a
• 35:42
  fixed
• 35:42
  price.
• 35:43
  Is
• 35:43
  that
• 35:43
  just
• 35:44
  sort
• 35:44
  of
• 35:44
  like
• 35:44
  an
• 35:44
  understanding
• 35:45
  of
• 35:45
  what
• 35:45
  the
• 35:45
  estimate's
• 35:46
  likely
• 35:46
  to
• 35:46
  be
• 35:46
  based
• 35:47
  on
• 35:47
  a
• 35:47
  cost
• 35:47
  plus,
• 35:48
  and
• 35:48
  here's
• 35:49
  your
• 35:49
  allowances.
• 35:49
  And
• 35:50
  what's
• 35:50
  going
• 35:50
  to
• 35:50
  happen
• 35:50
  if,
• 35:51
  you
• 35:51
  know.
• 35:51
  And
• 35:51
  then
• 35:51
  what
• 35:52
  happens
• 35:52
  if,
• 35:52
  you
• 35:52
  know,
• 35:53
  by
• 35:53
  the
• 35:53
  time
• 35:53
  my
• 35:54
  contractor
• 35:54
  goes
• 35:54
  to
• 35:55
  buy
• 35:55
  my
• 35:56
  cabinets,
• 35:56
  you
• 35:56
  know,
• 35:56
  the
• 35:56
  price
• 35:57
  is
• 35:57
  like
• 35:57
  30%
• 35:58
  higher
• 35:58
  than
• 35:58
  what
• 35:58
  we
• 35:58
  all
• 35:59
  thought
• 35:59
  it
• 35:59
  was
• 35:59
  going
• 35:59
  to
• 35:59
  be
• 35:59
  at
• 35:59
  the
• 35:59
  beginning.
• 36:00
  And
• 36:00
  then
• 36:00
  they
• 36:00
  get
• 36:01
  hit
• 36:01
  with
• 36:01
  these
• 36:01
  surprises
• 36:02
  because
• 36:03
  it
• 36:03
  wasn't
• 36:03
  explained
• 36:03
  to
• 36:03
  them
• 36:04
  and
• 36:04
  it's
• 36:04
  a
• 36:04
  front
• 36:04
  and
• 36:04
  they
• 36:05
  don't
• 36:05
  know
• 36:05
  what
• 36:05
  to
• 36:05
  expect.
• 36:06
  And
• 36:06
  so
• 36:07
  that
• 36:07
  has
• 36:07
  been
• 36:08
  especially
• 36:08
  once
• 36:08
  Covid
• 36:09
  came
• 36:09
  through.
• 36:10
  Those
• 36:10
  sort
• 36:10
  of
• 36:11
  price
• 36:11
  escalations
• 36:12
  were
• 36:13
  a
• 36:13
  big
• 36:13
  issue
• 36:14
  that
• 36:14
  cropped
• 36:15
  up
• 36:15
  for
• 36:15
  a
• 36:16
  while
• 36:17
  between
• 36:17
  the
• 36:17
  owners
• 36:17
  and
• 36:18
  the
• 36:18
  contractors.
• 36:19
  Man,
• 37:35
  you
• 37:35
  brought
• 37:36
  up
• 37:36
  a
• 37:36
  great
• 37:36
  one.
• 37:36
  And
• 37:36
  that's
• 37:37
  change
• 37:37
  orders.
• 37:38
  And
• 37:39
  I'm
• 37:39
  watching
• 37:39
  a
• 37:40
  case
• 37:41
  right
• 37:41
  now
• 37:41
  that
• 37:41
  I'm
• 37:42
  just
• 37:42
  kind
• 37:42
  of
• 37:42
  eyeballing
• 37:43
  quietly.
• 37:44
  I
• 37:44
  like
• 37:44
  it
• 37:44
  when
• 37:44
  I
• 37:44
  watch
• 37:44
  it
• 37:45
  online
• 37:45
  and
• 37:45
  see
• 37:45
  what's
• 37:45
  going
• 37:46
  on.
• 37:46
  But
• 37:46
  I'm
• 37:47
  watching
• 37:47
  them
• 37:47
  with
• 37:47
  a
• 37:47
  design
• 37:48
  firm
• 37:48
  in
• 37:48
  Seattle
• 37:49
  and,
• 37:49
  and
• 37:50
  the
• 37:50
  project
• 37:51
  price
• 37:51
  has
• 37:52
  tripled
• 37:53
  after
• 37:54
  the
• 37:54
  contract
• 37:55
  for
• 37:55
  this
• 37:55
  big
• 37:56
  remodel
• 37:56
  by
• 37:57
  hundreds
• 37:57
  of
• 37:57
  thousands
• 37:58
  of
• 37:58
  dollars.
• 37:58
  Right.
• 37:59
  But
• 37:59
  the
• 37:59
  scope
• 38:00
  hasn't
• 38:00
  changed
• 38:01
  and
• 38:01
  so
• 38:02
  now
• 38:02
  it's
• 38:02
  full
• 38:02
  on
• 38:03
  lawsuit.
• 38:03
  So
• 38:03
  I
• 38:03
  can
• 38:03
  follow
• 38:04
  that.
• 38:04
  But
• 38:05
  what
• 38:05
  is
• 38:06
  your
• 38:06
  opinion
• 38:06
  of
• 38:06
  change
• 38:06
  orders?
• 38:07
  And
• 38:08
  is
• 38:08
  a
• 38:09
  phone
• 38:09
  message,
• 38:10
  a
• 38:10
  text
• 38:10
  or
• 38:10
  an
• 38:10
  email,
• 38:11
  what
• 38:11
  do
• 38:11
  you
• 38:11
  recommend
• 38:12
  with
• 38:12
  that?
• 38:13
  Yeah,
• 38:13
  so
• 38:13
  I
• 38:14
  mean,
• 38:14
  as
• 38:14
  a
• 38:14
  lawyer,
• 38:15
  the
• 38:15
  thing
• 38:15
  I'm
• 38:15
  gonna
• 38:15
  recommend
• 38:16
  is
• 38:16
  probably
• 38:16
  gonna
• 38:17
  slow
• 38:17
  up
• 38:17
  the
• 38:17
  job.
• 38:17
  Right.
• 38:18
  So
• 38:18
  I'm
• 38:18
  gonna
• 38:19
  recommend
• 38:19
  that
• 38:20
  once
• 38:20
  we,
• 38:21
  once
• 38:21
  we
• 38:21
  know
• 38:21
  that
• 38:21
  there's
• 38:21
  a
• 38:22
  change
• 38:22
  in
• 38:22
  place,
• 38:23
  it
• 38:23
  should
• 38:23
  be
• 38:23
  documented
• 38:24
  into
• 38:24
  its
• 38:24
  own
• 38:24
  change
• 38:25
  order
• 38:26
  that
• 38:26
  describes
• 38:27
  the
• 38:27
  change
• 38:27
  to
• 38:27
  the
• 38:28
  price,
• 38:28
  the
• 38:28
  scope
• 38:29
  and
• 38:29
  the
• 38:29
  time
• 38:30
  that
• 38:30
  affect
• 38:31
  on
• 38:31
  the
• 38:31
  job
• 38:31
  and
• 38:32
  signed
• 38:32
  by
• 38:32
  both
• 38:32
  parties.
• 38:33
  That
• 38:33
  is
• 38:34
  the
• 38:34
  cleanest
• 38:34
  way
• 38:34
  to
• 38:35
  do
• 38:35
  it.
• 38:36
  But
• 38:36
  a
• 38:37
  lot
• 38:37
  of
• 38:37
  times
• 38:37
  in
• 38:37
  the
• 38:37
  field
• 38:38
  you're
• 38:38
  moving
• 38:38
  kind
• 38:38
  of
• 38:39
  quickly,
• 38:39
  you're
• 38:40
  discussing
• 38:40
  the
• 38:40
  change
• 38:41
  with
• 38:41
  the
• 38:41
  owner
• 38:41
  right
• 38:41
  there
• 38:41
  on
• 38:42
  the
• 38:42
  job.
• 38:42
  Yeah,
• 38:42
  that
• 38:42
  sounds
• 38:43
  good.
• 38:43
  Do
• 38:43
  that
• 38:43
  instead.
• 38:44
  They're
• 38:44
  not
• 38:44
  going
• 38:44
  to
• 38:45
  stop
• 38:45
  everything
• 38:46
  to
• 38:46
  go
• 38:46
  back.
• 38:47
  Certainly
• 38:48
  at
• 38:48
  the
• 38:49
  very
• 38:49
  least,
• 38:49
  you
• 38:49
  do
• 38:49
  need
• 38:49
  to
• 38:50
  document
• 38:50
  it
• 38:50
  in
• 38:50
  writing
• 38:51
  somehow
• 38:51
  as
• 38:51
  the
• 38:52
  contractor
• 38:52
  back
• 38:52
  to
• 38:53
  the
• 38:53
  owner.
• 38:53
  Hey,
• 38:53
  here's
• 38:54
  what
• 38:54
  we
• 38:54
  agree
• 38:54
  to.
• 38:55
  If
• 38:55
  you're
• 38:55
  doing
• 38:55
  it
• 38:55
  in
• 38:55
  a
• 38:55
  text
• 38:55
  or
• 38:55
  an
• 38:56
  email,
• 38:56
  so
• 38:57
  be
• 38:57
  it.
• 38:57
  I
• 38:57
  mean,
• 38:57
  it's
• 38:57
  not
• 38:57
  the
• 38:57
  best
• 38:58
  idea,
• 38:58
  but
• 38:58
  maybe
• 38:59
  at
• 38:59
  least
• 38:59
  it'll
• 39:00
  confirm
• 39:00
  it
• 39:00
  for
• 39:00
  now
• 39:00
  and
• 39:01
  then
• 39:01
  you
• 39:01
  paper
• 39:01
  it
• 39:01
  into
• 39:02
  a
• 39:02
  legitimate
• 39:03
  change
• 39:03
  order
• 39:04
  as
• 39:04
  shortly
• 39:04
  after
• 39:04
  that
• 39:05
  as
• 39:05
  you
• 39:05
  possibly
• 39:05
  can.
• 39:06
  The
• 39:06
  other
• 39:06
  thing
• 39:07
  that
• 39:07
  we
• 39:07
  see
• 39:07
  though
• 39:08
  is
• 39:08
  lots
• 39:08
  of
• 39:08
  times
• 39:08
  for
• 39:09
  change
• 39:09
  orders.
• 39:09
  Lots
• 39:09
  of
• 39:10
  contractors
• 39:10
  insist
• 39:11
  on
• 39:11
  being
• 39:11
  paid
• 39:11
  in
• 39:11
  full
• 39:12
  for
• 39:12
  the
• 39:12
  change
• 39:12
  order
• 39:12
  up
• 39:13
  front
• 39:13
  before
• 39:13
  they
• 39:13
  do
• 39:13
  the
• 39:14
  change
• 39:14
  order
• 39:14
  work,
• 39:15
  as
• 39:15
  opposed
• 39:16
  to
• 39:16
  whatever
• 39:17
  the
• 39:17
  progress
• 39:18
  payments
• 39:18
  are
• 39:18
  for
• 39:18
  the
• 39:18
  rest
• 39:19
  of
• 39:19
  the
• 39:19
  job,
• 39:19
  or
• 39:19
  whether
• 39:20
  it's
• 39:20
  milestone
• 39:20
  payments
• 39:21
  or
• 39:21
  just
• 39:21
  monthly
• 39:23
  progress
• 39:23
  payments
• 39:24
  that
• 39:24
  can
• 39:24
  get
• 39:24
  a
• 39:24
  little.
• 39:25
  Get
• 39:26
  a
• 39:26
  little
• 39:26
  dicey
• 39:26
  for
• 39:26
  some
• 39:26
  homeowners
• 39:27
  having
• 39:27
  to
• 39:27
  come
• 39:27
  out
• 39:27
  of
• 39:27
  pocket
• 39:28
  that
• 39:28
  much
• 39:28
  extra
• 39:28
  money,
• 39:28
  like
• 39:29
  in
• 39:29
  these
• 39:29
  chunks
• 39:29
  that,
• 39:29
  you
• 39:30
  know,
• 39:30
  maybe
• 39:30
  they
• 39:30
  weren't
• 39:30
  expecting.
• 39:31
  And
• 39:31
  it
• 39:31
  kind
• 39:32
  of
• 39:32
  interrupts
• 39:32
  the
• 39:32
  flow
• 39:33
  of
• 39:33
  some
• 39:33
  of
• 39:33
  the
• 39:33
  other
• 39:33
  work
• 39:34
  that's
• 39:34
  going
• 39:34
  on
• 39:34
  because
• 39:34
  maybe
• 39:35
  it
• 39:35
  delays.
• 39:36
  I
• 39:36
  don't
• 39:36
  know,
• 39:36
  maybe
• 39:36
  it
• 39:36
  delays
• 39:37
  some
• 39:37
  other
• 39:38
  milestone
• 39:38
  from
• 39:39
  getting
• 39:39
  hit
• 39:39
  because
• 39:39
  of
• 39:39
  this
• 39:40
  additional
• 39:40
  work
• 39:40
  you're
• 39:40
  doing.
• 39:41
  Now
• 39:41
  as
• 39:41
  the
• 39:42
  contractor,
• 39:43
  you
• 39:43
  know,
• 39:43
  your
• 39:43
  next
• 39:44
  payment
• 39:44
  is
• 39:44
  due
• 39:44
  after
• 39:44
  completion
• 39:45
  of
• 39:45
  the
• 39:45
  drywall.
• 39:46
  But
• 39:46
  now
• 39:46
  you
• 39:46
  can't
• 39:47
  complete
• 39:47
  the
• 39:47
  drywall,
• 39:48
  complete,
• 39:48
  whatever
• 39:48
  that
• 39:49
  means,
• 39:49
  because
• 39:49
  now
• 39:49
  you've
• 39:49
  had
• 39:50
  to
• 39:50
  do
• 39:50
  something
• 39:50
  different
• 39:50
  with
• 39:51
  the
• 39:51
  staircase
• 39:51
  or
• 39:51
  whatever.
• 39:52
  You
• 39:52
  know,
• 39:52
  it's.
• 39:52
  It's
• 39:52
  just,
• 39:53
  you
• 39:53
  know,
• 39:53
  it.
• 39:54
  It
• 39:54
  kind
• 39:54
  of
• 39:54
  throws
• 39:54
  the
• 39:55
  whole,
• 39:55
  you
• 39:55
  know,
• 39:55
  a
• 39:55
  little
• 39:55
  monkey
• 39:56
  wrench
• 39:56
  into.
• 39:56
  Into
• 39:57
  everything.
• 39:57
  So
• 39:57
  again,
• 39:58
  I
• 39:58
  think
• 39:58
  with
• 39:58
  a
• 39:58
  good
• 39:59
  contract,
• 39:59
  you
• 40:00
  can
• 40:00
  kind
• 40:00
  of
• 40:01
  allow
• 40:01
  for
• 40:01
  these
• 40:01
  things.
• 40:01
  And
• 40:02
  if
• 40:02
  everyone
• 40:02
  is
• 40:02
  above
• 40:02
  board
• 40:03
  and
• 40:03
  really
• 40:03
  wants
• 40:03
  to
• 40:03
  do
• 40:04
  the
• 40:04
  job
• 40:04
  the
• 40:04
  right
• 40:04
  way
• 40:04
  and
• 40:05
  everyone.
• 40:05
  If
• 40:06
  you're
• 40:06
  dealing
• 40:06
  with
• 40:06
  people
• 40:06
  with
• 40:06
  integrity,
• 40:07
  you
• 40:07
  should
• 40:07
  be
• 40:07
  able
• 40:07
  to
• 40:07
  work
• 40:08
  through
• 40:08
  it.
• 40:08
  Yeah,
• 40:08
  I
• 40:09
  actually
• 40:09
  had
• 40:09
  a
• 40:09
  contractor
• 40:10
  that
• 40:10
  I
• 40:10
  was
• 40:10
  working
• 40:10
  a
• 40:10
  lot
• 40:11
  with
• 40:11
  with
• 40:11
  my
• 40:11
  business
• 40:12
  that
• 40:12
  I
• 40:12
  said,
• 40:12
  hey,
• 40:13
  you
• 40:13
  know,
• 40:13
  talk
• 40:13
  to
• 40:14
  your
• 40:14
  attorney.
• 40:14
  Here's
• 40:14
  a
• 40:14
  great
• 40:15
  place
• 40:15
  to
• 40:15
  start.
• 40:15
  They
• 40:16
  built
• 40:16
  up
• 40:16
  a
• 40:16
  forum
• 40:16
  and
• 40:17
  he
• 40:17
  went
• 40:17
  out
• 40:17
  and
• 40:17
  just
• 40:17
  had
• 40:17
  notepads
• 40:18
  made
• 40:18
  of
• 40:18
  them,
• 40:19
  and
• 40:19
  they
• 40:19
  were
• 40:19
  just
• 40:19
  in
• 40:19
  everybody's
• 40:20
  trucks.
• 40:21
  They
• 40:21
  could
• 40:21
  go
• 40:21
  in.
• 40:22
  I
• 40:22
  got
• 40:22
  it
• 40:23
  out
• 40:23
  in
• 40:23
  the
• 40:23
  truck.
• 40:24
  Hold
• 40:24
  on.
• 40:24
  And
• 40:24
  he
• 40:24
  just,
• 40:25
  we're
• 40:25
  gonna
• 40:25
  have
• 40:25
  to
• 40:25
  make
• 40:25
  a
• 40:26
  change.
• 40:26
  Cool.
• 40:26
  And
• 40:26
  he
• 40:26
  would
• 40:26
  just
• 40:27
  sit
• 40:27
  there,
• 40:27
  write
• 40:27
  it
• 40:28
  on
• 40:28
  the
• 40:28
  paper,
• 40:29
  and
• 40:29
  then,
• 40:29
  you
• 40:30
  know,
• 40:30
  he
• 40:30
  would
• 40:30
  take
• 40:30
  pictures
• 40:31
  of
• 40:31
  it,
• 40:31
  take
• 40:32
  it
• 40:32
  back
• 40:32
  to
• 40:32
  the
• 40:32
  office.
• 40:33
  And,
• 40:33
  you
• 40:34
  know,
• 40:34
  now
• 40:34
  there's
• 40:34
  programs
• 40:35
  with
• 40:35
  iPads
• 40:36
  and
• 40:36
  way
• 40:36
  better
• 40:36
  ways
• 40:37
  to
• 40:37
  do
• 40:37
  it.
• 40:37
  But
• 40:37
  back
• 40:37
  then
• 40:38
  it
• 40:38
  was
• 40:38
  a,
• 40:38
  hey,
• 40:39
  here's
• 40:39
  a
• 40:39
  paper
• 40:39
  trail.
• 40:39
  And
• 40:40
  at
• 40:40
  least
• 40:40
  they
• 40:40
  had
• 40:40
  something
• 40:41
  to
• 40:41
  work
• 40:41
  with.
• 40:42
  And
• 40:42
  then
• 40:42
  the.
• 40:42
  They
• 40:43
  would
• 40:43
  follow
• 40:43
  up
• 40:43
  with
• 40:43
  the
• 40:44
  copy
• 40:44
  of
• 40:44
  that
• 40:44
  in
• 40:44
  an
• 40:44
  email
• 40:45
  just
• 40:45
  to
• 40:45
  make
• 40:45
  sure
• 40:45
  that
• 40:45
  everybody
• 40:46
  had
• 40:46
  it.
• 40:46
  But
• 40:46
  that
• 40:46
  was
• 40:47
  kind
• 40:47
  of
• 40:47
  the
• 40:47
  perfect
• 40:48
  way
• 40:48
  to
• 40:48
  do
• 40:48
  it.
• 40:48
  Post,
• 40:49
  post,
• 40:49
  you
• 40:49
  know,
• 40:50
  job
• 40:50
  site,
• 40:50
  computer
• 40:51
  kind
• 40:51
  of
• 40:51
  thing.
• 40:51
  But,
• 40:52
  you
• 40:52
  know,
• 40:52
  I
• 40:52
  think
• 40:52
  that's
• 40:53
  one
• 40:53
  of
• 40:53
  the
• 40:53
  things
• 40:53
  though,
• 40:53
  too,
• 40:54
  though,
• 40:54
  on
• 40:54
  the
• 40:55
  other
• 40:55
  side
• 40:55
  of
• 40:55
  that
• 40:55
  coin
• 40:56
  that
• 40:56
  we
• 40:57
  see
• 40:57
  is
• 40:58
  that,
• 40:58
  you
• 40:59
  know,
• 40:59
  the,
• 40:59
  The.
• 41:00
  The
• 41:00
  poor
• 41:01
  contractors
• 41:01
  out
• 41:01
  there
• 41:02
  that
• 41:02
  underbid
• 41:03
  the
• 41:03
  job,
• 41:04
  and
• 41:04
  then
• 41:05
  they
• 41:05
  make
• 41:05
  all
• 41:05
  their
• 41:06
  money
• 41:06
  back
• 41:06
  on
• 41:07
  the
• 41:07
  change
• 41:07
  orders.
• 41:08
  Okay,
• 41:08
  Right.
• 41:09
  You
• 41:09
  know,
• 41:09
  they
• 41:10
  come
• 41:10
  in
• 41:10
  and
• 41:10
  go,
• 41:10
  hey,
• 41:10
  we
• 41:11
  were
• 41:11
  the
• 41:11
  low
• 41:11
  bidder
• 41:11
  by
• 41:12
  $30,000
• 41:13
  on
• 41:13
  this
• 41:13
  project.
• 41:14
  The
• 41:14
  time
• 41:14
  the
• 41:14
  con.
• 41:15
  The.
• 41:15
  The
• 41:15
  homeowner's
• 41:16
  done
• 41:16
  with
• 41:16
  the
• 41:16
  project,
• 41:17
  they
• 41:18
  were
• 41:18
  30,000
• 41:19
  over
• 41:20
  what
• 41:20
  the
• 41:20
  highest
• 41:20
  bid
• 41:21
  was.
• 41:21
  And
• 41:22
  the
• 41:22
  contractor
• 41:22
  got
• 41:23
  the
• 41:23
  project
• 41:23
  because
• 41:24
  they
• 41:24
  under
• 41:24
  bet
• 41:24
  it.
• 41:25
  And
• 41:25
  then
• 41:25
  change
• 41:26
  ordered
• 41:26
  them
• 41:26
  all
• 41:27
  the
• 41:27
  way
• 41:27
  through.
• 41:28
  And
• 41:28
  that's
• 41:29
  the
• 41:29
  other
• 41:29
  flip
• 41:29
  side
• 41:30
  that
• 41:30
  you
• 41:30
  gotta
• 41:30
  be
• 41:30
  careful
• 41:30
  with
• 41:31
  as
• 41:31
  a
• 41:31
  homeowner.
• 41:32
  Oh,
• 41:32
  for
• 41:32
  sure.
• 41:33
  You
• 41:33
  shouldn't
• 41:33
  always
• 41:34
  go
• 41:34
  with
• 41:34
  the
• 41:34
  lowest
• 41:34
  bidder.
• 41:35
  I've
• 41:35
  had
• 41:35
  clients
• 41:36
  who
• 41:36
  have
• 41:36
  contacted
• 41:36
  us
• 41:37
  and
• 41:37
  said,
• 41:37
  hey,
• 41:37
  you
• 41:37
  know,
• 41:37
  I've
• 41:38
  got
• 41:38
  this
• 41:38
  project.
• 41:39
  You
• 41:39
  know,
• 41:39
  I've
• 41:39
  paid
• 41:40
  like
• 41:40
  225
• 41:41
  out
• 41:41
  of
• 41:41
  the
• 41:41
  250,000
• 41:42
  to
• 41:42
  this
• 41:43
  guy,
• 41:43
  and
• 41:43
  he's
• 41:43
  not
• 41:43
  even
• 41:44
  close
• 41:44
  to
• 41:44
  being
• 41:44
  done,
• 41:45
  you
• 41:45
  know.
• 41:45
  And
• 41:45
  then
• 41:46
  when
• 41:46
  we
• 41:46
  kind
• 41:46
  of
• 41:46
  get
• 41:46
  into
• 41:47
  that
• 41:47
  conversation
• 41:47
  about
• 41:47
  the
• 41:47
  other
• 41:48
  bids
• 41:48
  they
• 41:48
  received
• 41:48
  on
• 41:49
  the
• 41:49
  job,
• 41:49
  it
• 41:49
  was
• 41:50
  450,
• 41:50
  it
• 41:50
  was
• 41:50
  500.
• 41:51
  What
• 41:52
  do
• 41:52
  you
• 41:52
  think
• 41:52
  was
• 41:52
  going
• 41:52
  to
• 41:52
  happen
• 41:52
  when
• 41:53
  you
• 41:53
  hire
• 41:53
  someone
• 41:53
  at
• 41:53
  250?
• 41:54
  Like,
• 41:54
  that's,
• 41:54
  like
• 41:55
  that,
• 41:55
  that's,
• 41:55
  that's,
• 41:56
  you
• 41:56
  know,
• 41:56
  unfortunately,
• 41:57
  you
• 41:57
  didn't
• 41:58
  think
• 41:58
  about
• 41:58
  what
• 41:58
  was
• 41:58
  going
• 41:58
  to
• 41:58
  happen
• 41:58
  because
• 41:59
  you
• 41:59
  didn't
• 41:59
  know
• 41:59
  any
• 41:59
  better.
• 42:00
  And
• 42:00
  that's.
• 42:00
  Yeah,
• 42:01
  that's
• 42:01
  why
• 42:01
  getting
• 42:02
  advice
• 42:02
  and
• 42:02
  this
• 42:02
  is
• 42:03
  like
• 42:03
  your
• 42:03
  home
• 42:03
  for
• 42:04
  most
• 42:04
  people,
• 42:04
  your
• 42:04
  biggest
• 42:05
  asset.
• 42:05
  Right.
• 42:06
  I
• 42:06
  mean,
• 42:06
  it's
• 42:06
  where
• 42:06
  you
• 42:06
  spend
• 42:06
  the
• 42:06
  most
• 42:07
  time.
• 42:07
  It's
• 42:07
  where
• 42:07
  you
• 42:07
  get
• 42:07
  out
• 42:08
  of
• 42:08
  the
• 42:08
  craziness
• 42:08
  of
• 42:08
  the
• 42:08
  world
• 42:09
  and
• 42:09
  it's
• 42:09
  where
• 42:09
  you
• 42:09
  expect
• 42:10
  to
• 42:10
  enjoy
• 42:10
  your
• 42:10
  life
• 42:11
  and
• 42:11
  live
• 42:11
  it
• 42:11
  and
• 42:12
  experience
• 42:12
  all
• 42:12
  those
• 42:12
  memories
• 42:13
  and
• 42:13
  to
• 42:13
  just
• 42:13
  leave
• 42:14
  it
• 42:14
  in
• 42:14
  the
• 42:14
  hands
• 42:14
  of
• 42:15
  someone
• 42:15
  you've
• 42:15
  done
• 42:15
  absolutely
• 42:16
  no
• 42:17
  vetting
• 42:17
  of
• 42:18
  and
• 42:18
  that
• 42:18
  you've
• 42:18
  got,
• 42:18
  you
• 42:18
  know,
• 42:19
  and
• 42:20
  it's
• 42:20
  because,
• 42:21
  look,
• 42:21
  if
• 42:21
  things
• 42:21
  go
• 42:21
  as
• 42:22
  planned,
• 42:22
  you
• 42:22
  get
• 42:22
  what
• 42:23
  you
• 42:23
  expect.
• 42:24
  If
• 42:24
  they
• 42:24
  go
• 42:24
  poorly,
• 42:25
  it
• 42:25
  can
• 42:25
  set
• 42:26
  you
• 42:26
  back
• 42:26
  hundreds
• 42:27
  of
• 42:27
  thousands
• 42:27
  of
• 42:27
  dollars
• 42:28
  and
• 42:28
  years
• 42:29
  of
• 42:29
  misery.
• 42:29
  And
• 42:30
  so,
• 42:30
  you
• 42:30
  know,
• 42:31
  take
• 42:31
  the
• 42:31
  extra
• 42:32
  time
• 42:32
  up
• 42:32
  front
• 42:32
  to
• 42:33
  make
• 42:33
  sure
• 42:33
  you're
• 42:34
  hiring
• 42:34
  the
• 42:34
  right
• 42:34
  person.
• 42:35
  Oh,
• 42:35
  absolutely,
• 42:36
  absolutely.
• 42:37
  And
• 42:37
  that's,
• 42:37
  that's
• 42:37
  one
• 42:38
  of
• 42:38
  the
• 42:38
  bigger
• 42:38
  things,
• 42:38
  too.
• 42:39
  I
• 42:39
  recommend
• 42:39
  to
• 42:39
  people
• 42:40
  that
• 42:40
  have
• 42:40
  no
• 42:40
  construction
• 42:41
  knowledge,
• 42:42
  if
• 42:42
  you
• 42:42
  need
• 42:43
  to
• 42:43
  hire
• 42:43
  an
• 42:43
  independent
• 42:44
  inspector
• 42:44
  to
• 42:44
  come
• 42:44
  in
• 42:44
  and
• 42:45
  take
• 42:45
  a
• 42:45
  look
• 42:45
  at
• 42:45
  stuff
• 42:45
  that.
• 42:46
  Yep,
• 42:46
  it,
• 42:47
  you
• 42:47
  know,
• 42:47
  a
• 42:47
  framing
• 42:48
  inspector,
• 42:48
  plumbing,
• 42:49
  you
• 42:50
  know,
• 42:50
  pre
• 42:50
  drywall,
• 42:51
  whatever,
• 42:51
  do
• 42:52
  it
• 42:52
  so
• 42:53
  you
• 42:53
  can
• 42:53
  figure
• 42:53
  that
• 42:53
  stuff
• 42:54
  out
• 42:54
  early
• 42:55
  and
• 42:55
  get
• 42:55
  it
• 42:55
  taken
• 42:55
  care
• 42:56
  of.
• 42:56
  Because
• 42:57
  homeowners
• 42:57
  are
• 42:57
  expected.
• 42:58
  It
• 42:58
  seems
• 42:59
  to
• 42:59
  understand
• 43:00
  everything.
• 43:00
  And
• 43:01
  the
• 43:01
  building
• 43:01
  department
• 43:03
  sometimes
• 43:03
  can
• 43:03
  be
• 43:04
  really
• 43:04
  subpar
• 43:05
  is
• 43:06
  finding
• 43:06
  those
• 43:06
  minimums.
• 43:07
  I
• 43:07
  mean.
• 43:08
  Yeah.
• 43:08
  I've
• 43:08
  been
• 43:08
  working
• 43:09
  on
• 43:09
  a
• 43:09
  project
• 43:10
  with
• 43:10
  some
• 43:10
  friends
• 43:11
  and.
• 43:11
  And
• 43:12
  for
• 43:12
  this
• 43:12
  complete
• 43:12
  remodel,
• 43:13
  I
• 43:13
  think
• 43:14
  the
• 43:14
  building
• 43:14
  inspection
• 43:15
  process
• 43:15
  all
• 43:16
  the
• 43:16
  way
• 43:16
  through
• 43:16
  from
• 43:17
  rough
• 43:17
  to
• 43:17
  finish,
• 43:18
  I
• 43:18
  think
• 43:18
  we
• 43:18
  timed
• 43:19
  it
• 43:19
  at
• 43:19
  seven
• 43:20
  minutes
• 43:20
  of
• 43:20
  inspection
• 43:21
  time
• 43:21
  from
• 43:21
  the
• 43:21
  city.
• 43:22
  They
• 43:22
  didn't
• 43:22
  look
• 43:23
  at
• 43:23
  it.
• 43:23
  I
• 43:23
  was
• 43:23
  there
• 43:23
  for
• 43:23
  one
• 43:23
  of
• 43:23
  them.
• 43:24
  I
• 43:24
  was
• 43:24
  like,
• 43:24
  oh,
• 43:24
  looks
• 43:25
  good.
• 43:25
  Yeah,
• 43:26
  off
• 43:26
  to
• 43:26
  the
• 43:26
  next
• 43:27
  one.
• 43:27
  And
• 43:28
  then
• 43:28
  there's
• 43:28
  others
• 43:28
  that
• 43:28
  come
• 43:29
  out
• 43:29
  and
• 43:29
  are
• 43:30
  checking
• 43:30
  everything.
• 43:31
  But
• 43:31
  I
• 43:31
  think
• 43:31
  it's
• 43:31
  really
• 43:32
  smart
• 43:32
  when
• 43:33
  you
• 43:33
  don't
• 43:33
  have
• 43:33
  the
• 43:33
  knowledge
• 43:34
  to
• 43:34
  hire
• 43:34
  the
• 43:34
  expert
• 43:35
  to
• 43:35
  spend
• 43:36
  that
• 43:36
  little
• 43:36
  extra
• 43:36
  more
• 43:37
  to
• 43:37
  go
• 43:37
  through
• 43:37
  and
• 43:37
  look
• 43:37
  at
• 43:37
  a
• 43:38
  significant
• 43:38
  project
• 43:38
  to
• 43:38
  make
• 43:39
  sure
• 43:39
  that
• 43:39
  things
• 43:40
  are
• 43:40
  getting
• 43:40
  done
• 43:40
  correctly
• 43:41
  and
• 43:41
  that
• 43:42
  those
• 43:42
  milestones
• 43:43
  are
• 43:43
  getting
• 43:43
  reached
• 43:44
  correctly.
• 43:44
  I
• 43:45
  couldn't
• 43:45
  agree
• 43:45
  with
• 43:45
  you
• 43:45
  more.
• 43:46
  I
• 43:46
  mean,
• 43:46
  you
• 43:46
  know,
• 43:47
  the
• 43:47
  city
• 43:47
  inspectors,
• 43:48
  the
• 43:48
  county,
• 43:48
  the
• 43:49
  building
• 43:49
  inspectors,
• 43:49
  I
• 43:49
  mean
• 43:50
  they're
• 43:50
  there
• 43:50
  to
• 43:50
  make
• 43:50
  sure
• 43:50
  the
• 43:50
  minimum
• 43:51
  standard
• 43:51
  of
• 43:51
  it
• 43:52
  meets
• 43:52
  code
• 43:53
  is
• 43:53
  met
• 43:53
  and
• 43:53
  that's
• 43:54
  it.
• 43:54
  But
• 43:54
  that
• 43:54
  doesn't
• 43:54
  mean
• 43:54
  that
• 43:55
  you've
• 43:55
  received,
• 43:56
  that
• 43:56
  you
• 43:56
  said
• 43:57
  you've
• 43:57
  hit
• 43:57
  the
• 43:57
  certain
• 43:57
  milestone
• 43:58
  for
• 43:58
  the
• 43:58
  payment
• 43:58
  or
• 43:59
  that
• 43:59
  it's
• 43:59
  really
• 43:59
  up
• 44:00
  to
• 44:00
  standard.
• 44:01
  So
• 44:01
  for
• 44:02
  that
• 44:02
  reason
• 44:02
  is
• 44:03
  why
• 44:03
  I
• 44:04
  separately
• 44:04
  have
• 44:04
  the
• 44:05
  construction
• 44:05
  advisory
• 44:06
  company,
• 44:07
  this
• 44:07
  Master
• 44:07
  Construction
• 44:08
  Advisors
• 44:08
  with
• 44:08
  a
• 44:09
  general
• 44:09
  contract
• 44:10
  who's
• 44:10
  a
• 44:10
  Florida
• 44:11
  certified
• 44:11
  master
• 44:11
  builder.
• 44:12
  And
• 44:12
  we
• 44:12
  help,
• 44:13
  we
• 44:13
  help
• 44:14
  do
• 44:14
  owner's
• 44:15
  rep
• 44:15
  type
• 44:15
  of
• 44:15
  work
• 44:16
  or
• 44:16
  introduce
• 44:17
  people
• 44:17
  to
• 44:17
  owner's
• 44:17
  reps.
• 44:18
  Somebody
• 44:18
  who,
• 44:18
  not
• 44:19
  just
• 44:19
  to
• 44:20
  make
• 44:20
  sure
• 44:20
  that
• 44:20
  inspection
• 44:21
  time
• 44:21
  things
• 44:21
  are
• 44:22
  up
• 44:22
  to
• 44:22
  snuff,
• 44:22
  but
• 44:23
  to
• 44:23
  really
• 44:23
  be
• 44:23
  the
• 44:23
  experienced
• 44:24
  professional
• 44:25
  in
• 44:25
  the
• 44:25
  room
• 44:26
  for
• 44:26
  you
• 44:27
  as
• 44:27
  your
• 44:27
  advocate,
• 44:28
  to
• 44:28
  be
• 44:28
  your
• 44:28
  eyes,
• 44:28
  your
• 44:29
  ears
• 44:29
  and
• 44:29
  your
• 44:29
  mouthpiece
• 44:30
  because
• 44:31
  maybe
• 44:31
  you're
• 44:31
  custom
• 44:32
  building
• 44:32
  a
• 44:33
  four,
• 44:33
  five,
• 44:33
  six
• 44:33
  million
• 44:34
  dollars
• 44:34
  home
• 44:34
  and
• 44:34
  you've
• 44:35
  never
• 44:35
  done
• 44:35
  this
• 44:35
  before.
• 44:36
  Maybe
• 44:36
  you're
• 44:36
  a
• 44:36
  busy
• 44:37
  professional,
• 44:37
  you
• 44:37
  don't
• 44:37
  have
• 44:37
  time
• 44:38
  to
• 44:38
  supervise
• 44:38
  it,
• 44:39
  so
• 44:39
  you
• 44:39
  leave,
• 44:39
  you
• 44:39
  just,
• 44:40
  oh,
• 44:40
  my
• 44:40
  wife
• 44:40
  will
• 44:40
  take
• 44:41
  care
• 44:41
  of
• 44:41
  it.
• 44:41
  What
• 44:41
  does
• 44:41
  she,
• 44:42
  she
• 44:42
  doesn't
• 44:42
  know
• 44:42
  either.
• 44:42
  Right.
• 44:43
  Or
• 44:43
  you're,
• 44:43
  maybe
• 44:43
  you're
• 44:44
  live
• 44:44
  in
• 44:44
  one
• 44:44
  state
• 44:45
  and
• 44:45
  you're
• 44:45
  building
• 44:45
  something
• 44:45
  in
• 44:45
  another
• 44:46
  state
• 44:46
  or
• 44:46
  you're
• 44:47
  just
• 44:47
  used
• 44:47
  to
• 44:48
  having,
• 44:48
  you
• 44:48
  know,
• 44:49
  you
• 44:49
  understand
• 44:49
  the
• 44:49
  value
• 44:50
  of
• 44:50
  a
• 44:50
  professional
• 44:50
  and
• 44:50
  that's
• 44:50
  what
• 44:51
  you
• 44:51
  want
• 44:51
  to
• 44:51
  do.
• 44:52
  That's
• 44:52
  what,
• 44:52
  that's
• 44:52
  what,
• 44:53
  you
• 44:53
  know,
• 44:53
  there's
• 44:53
  such
• 44:54
  value
• 44:54
  in
• 44:54
  that.
• 44:54
  Yeah.
• 44:55
  Your
• 44:55
  job
• 44:55
  probably
• 44:56
  needs
• 44:56
  to
• 44:56
  be
• 44:56
  of
• 44:56
  a
• 44:56
  certain
• 44:57
  size
• 44:57
  to
• 44:57
  withstand
• 44:58
  the
• 44:58
  extra
• 44:58
  expense
• 44:58
  of
• 44:59
  it.
• 44:59
  But
• 44:59
  if,
• 44:59
  you
• 45:00
  know,
• 45:00
  but,
• 45:00
  but
• 45:00
  the,
• 45:01
  I
• 45:01
  mean
• 45:01
  the
• 45:01
  value
• 45:01
  is
• 45:01
  immeasurable.
• 45:02
  Yeah.
• 45:03
  I
• 45:03
  had
• 45:03
  a
• 45:03
  friend,
• 45:04
  a
• 45:04
  former
• 45:04
  colleague
• 45:04
  I
• 45:05
  used
• 45:05
  to
• 45:05
  work
• 45:05
  with,
• 45:05
  I
• 45:05
  haven't
• 45:05
  talked
• 45:06
  to
• 45:06
  in
• 45:06
  a
• 45:06
  while,
• 45:06
  but
• 45:07
  they
• 45:07
  live
• 45:07
  down
• 45:07
  in
• 45:08
  Florida,
• 45:08
  a
• 45:08
  couple.
• 45:08
  Couple.
• 45:09
  They
• 45:09
  had
• 45:09
  a
• 45:09
  new
• 45:10
  house
• 45:10
  built
• 45:10
  down
• 45:11
  and
• 45:11
  of
• 45:11
  course
• 45:11
  concrete
• 45:12
  block
• 45:12
  construction.
• 45:13
  You
• 45:13
  know,
• 45:13
  it
• 45:14
  was
• 45:14
  one
• 45:14
  of
• 45:14
  them
• 45:14
  by
• 45:14
  the
• 45:14
  largest
• 45:15
  home
• 45:15
  builders.
• 45:16
  There
• 45:16
  was
• 45:16
  so
• 45:16
  much
• 45:16
  of
• 45:17
  a
• 45:17
  bow
• 45:18
  in
• 45:18
  the
• 45:18
  master
• 45:19
  bathroom
• 45:19
  wall
• 45:20
  they
• 45:21
  couldn't
• 45:21
  hang
• 45:21
  the
• 45:21
  mirror
• 45:22
  up
• 45:22
  on
• 45:23
  because
• 45:23
  it
• 45:23
  wouldn't.
• 45:24
  It
• 45:24
  was
• 45:24
  flopping
• 45:25
  around
• 45:25
  on
• 45:25
  the
• 45:25
  wall
• 45:26
  because
• 45:26
  it
• 45:27
  was
• 45:27
  touching
• 45:27
  in
• 45:27
  the
• 45:27
  center
• 45:28
  and
• 45:28
  it
• 45:28
  was
• 45:28
  three
• 45:29
  quarters
• 45:29
  of
• 45:29
  an
• 45:29
  inch
• 45:29
  on
• 45:29
  the
• 45:29
  edge
• 45:30
  and
• 45:30
  it
• 45:30
  just
• 45:30
  kind
• 45:30
  of
• 45:30
  moved
• 45:31
  around
• 45:31
  because
• 45:32
  There
• 45:32
  was
• 45:32
  a
• 45:32
  3
• 45:33
  inch
• 45:33
  radius
• 45:34
  on
• 45:34
  the
• 45:35
  wall
• 45:35
  when
• 45:35
  they
• 45:35
  built
• 45:35
  built
• 45:36
  it.
• 45:36
  It's
• 45:36
  not
• 45:37
  structural,
• 45:37
  not
• 45:38
  to
• 45:38
  plan
• 45:38
  really,
• 45:39
  but
• 45:39
  you
• 45:39
  know
• 45:39
  what
• 45:39
  I
• 45:39
  mean,
• 45:40
  those
• 45:40
  are
• 45:40
  things
• 45:40
  that
• 45:40
  you
• 45:40
  really
• 45:41
  want
• 45:41
  them
• 45:41
  to
• 45:41
  go.
• 45:41
  Hey,
• 45:42
  okay,
• 45:43
  building
• 45:43
  code
• 45:44
  is
• 45:44
  the
• 45:44
  D
• 45:44
  minus.
• 45:44
  We
• 45:45
  want
• 45:45
  to
• 45:45
  get
• 45:45
  you
• 45:45
  up
• 45:45
  to.
• 45:45
  A
• 45:45
  B
• 45:46
  yeah,
• 45:46
  right,
• 45:47
  right.
• 45:47
  You
• 45:47
  know,
• 45:47
  right.
• 45:48
  That's
• 45:48
  what
• 45:48
  I'm,
• 45:49
  you
• 45:49
  know,
• 45:49
  it,
• 45:50
  it's,
• 45:50
  it's
• 45:50
  great
• 45:50
  for
• 45:51
  life,
• 45:51
  safety
• 45:51
  and
• 45:52
  welfare,
• 45:52
  but
• 45:53
  there's
• 45:53
  other
• 45:53
  things
• 45:53
  that
• 45:54
  need
• 45:54
  to
• 45:54
  make
• 45:54
  sure
• 45:54
  that,
• 45:54
  you
• 45:54
  know,
• 45:55
  so
• 45:55
  you
• 45:55
  have
• 45:55
  a
• 45:55
  project
• 45:56
  that's
• 45:56
  going
• 45:56
  to
• 45:56
  withstand
• 45:56
  it.
• 45:57
  And
• 45:57
  the
• 45:57
  more
• 45:58
  technical
• 45:58
  homes
• 45:59
  get,
• 45:59
  the
• 45:59
  bigger
• 45:59
  it
• 46:00
  is
• 46:00
  with
• 46:00
  all
• 46:00
  of
• 46:00
  our,
• 46:01
  you
• 46:01
  know,
• 46:01
  know,
• 46:02
  water
• 46:02
  systems
• 46:03
  and,
• 46:04
  you
• 46:04
  know,
• 46:05
  ventilation
• 46:05
  and
• 46:06
  all
• 46:06
  these
• 46:06
  things.
• 46:07
  Every
• 46:07
  year
• 46:07
  our
• 46:08
  homes
• 46:08
  get,
• 46:08
  you
• 46:08
  know,
• 46:08
  by
• 46:09
  orders
• 46:09
  of
• 46:09
  magnitude,
• 46:10
  it
• 46:10
  seems
• 46:10
  more
• 46:10
  complex
• 46:11
  than,
• 46:12
  than
• 46:12
  they
• 46:12
  were
• 46:13
  a
• 46:13
  few
• 46:13
  years
• 46:13
  ago.
• 46:14
  So
• 46:14
  having
• 46:14
  somebody
• 46:15
  in
• 46:15
  there
• 46:15
  that
• 46:15
  understands
• 46:16
  all
• 46:16
  the
• 46:16
  systems
• 46:17
  and
• 46:17
  how
• 46:17
  they
• 46:17
  work
• 46:18
  and
• 46:18
  save
• 46:18
  you
• 46:18
  some
• 46:18
  headaches
• 46:19
  down
• 46:19
  the
• 46:19
  road
• 46:19
  when
• 46:20
  that
• 46:20
  contractor's
• 46:20
  long
• 46:20
  gone.
• 46:21
  Yeah.
• 46:22
  Oh,
• 46:22
  absolutely.
• 46:22
  You
• 46:22
  know,
• 46:23
  and
• 46:23
  that's
• 46:23
  the
• 46:23
  thing
• 46:23
  is,
• 46:24
  you
• 46:24
  know,
• 46:24
  I
• 46:24
  think
• 46:25
  those
• 46:25
  types
• 46:25
  of
• 46:25
  home
• 46:26
  builders,
• 46:26
  the
• 46:26
  ones
• 46:26
  who
• 46:26
  that
• 46:27
  build
• 46:27
  up,
• 46:27
  you
• 46:27
  know,
• 46:27
  all
• 46:28
  these
• 46:28
  200
• 46:28
  home
• 46:29
  communities
• 46:29
  and
• 46:30
  just
• 46:30
  like
• 46:30
  every
• 46:31
  home,
• 46:31
  one
• 46:31
  after
• 46:31
  the
• 46:31
  next,
• 46:32
  you
• 46:32
  know,
• 46:32
  a
• 46:32
  lot
• 46:32
  of
• 46:32
  people
• 46:33
  like
• 46:33
  to
• 46:33
  buy
• 46:33
  those
• 46:33
  types
• 46:33
  of
• 46:33
  homes
• 46:34
  because
• 46:34
  they
• 46:34
  think,
• 46:34
  all
• 46:34
  right,
• 46:35
  I
• 46:35
  don't
• 46:35
  have
• 46:35
  to
• 46:35
  deal
• 46:35
  with
• 46:35
  an
• 46:36
  old
• 46:36
  home,
• 46:36
  I
• 46:36
  don't
• 46:36
  have
• 46:36
  to
• 46:36
  deal
• 46:36
  with
• 46:37
  defects,
• 46:37
  I
• 46:37
  don't
• 46:37
  have
• 46:37
  to
• 46:37
  deal
• 46:37
  with
• 46:38
  mold,
• 46:38
  I
• 46:38
  don't
• 46:38
  have
• 46:38
  to
• 46:38
  deal
• 46:38
  with.
• 46:39
  And
• 46:39
  you
• 46:39
  know,
• 46:40
  unfortunately,
• 46:40
  where
• 46:41
  we
• 46:41
  see
• 46:41
  a
• 46:41
  lot
• 46:41
  of
• 46:42
  those
• 46:42
  communities
• 46:42
  kind
• 46:43
  of
• 46:43
  fall
• 46:43
  flat
• 46:43
  a
• 46:43
  little
• 46:43
  bit,
• 46:44
  it
• 46:44
  tends
• 46:45
  to
• 46:45
  be
• 46:45
  most
• 46:45
  in
• 46:45
  the
• 46:45
  warranty
• 46:46
  work
• 46:47
  and
• 46:47
  in
• 46:47
  the
• 46:47
  warranty
• 46:48
  claims
• 46:48
  when
• 46:50
  they
• 46:50
  close
• 46:51
  and
• 46:51
  maybe
• 46:52
  they're
• 46:52
  not
• 46:52
  completely
• 46:52
  finished
• 46:53
  and
• 46:53
  there's,
• 46:53
  you
• 46:53
  know,
• 46:53
  a
• 46:53
  dozen
• 46:54
  things
• 46:54
  that
• 46:54
  are
• 46:54
  problem
• 46:55
  solving.
• 46:55
  And
• 46:56
  then
• 46:56
  you
• 46:56
  call
• 46:56
  up
• 46:57
  the
• 46:57
  builder,
• 46:57
  the
• 46:57
  builder
• 46:57
  gets
• 46:58
  their
• 46:58
  sub
• 46:58
  to
• 46:58
  go
• 46:58
  out
• 46:59
  there
• 46:59
  and
• 47:00
  the
• 47:00
  sub's
• 47:00
  like,
• 47:00
  oh,
• 47:01
  yeah,
• 47:02
  oh,
• 47:02
  that
• 47:02
  bow
• 47:02
  in
• 47:02
  the
• 47:03
  floor,
• 47:03
  that's
• 47:03
  normal.
• 47:04
  Give
• 47:04
  it
• 47:04
  six
• 47:04
  months.
• 47:04
  What
• 47:04
  do
• 47:05
  you
• 47:05
  mean
• 47:05
  it's
• 47:05
  normal?
• 47:05
  I
• 47:05
  mean,
• 47:06
  these
• 47:06
  people,
• 47:07
  these
• 47:07
  homeowners
• 47:08
  are
• 47:08
  made
• 47:08
  to
• 47:08
  feel
• 47:09
  like
• 47:09
  they're
• 47:10
  idiots
• 47:10
  and
• 47:10
  that
• 47:11
  they're
• 47:11
  just
• 47:12
  being
• 47:12
  completely
• 47:12
  disrespected
• 47:13
  by
• 47:13
  these
• 47:13
  builders
• 47:13
  and
• 47:14
  these
• 47:14
  subs
• 47:14
  who
• 47:14
  are
• 47:15
  trying
• 47:15
  to
• 47:15
  pull
• 47:15
  the
• 47:15
  wool
• 47:16
  over
• 47:16
  their
• 47:16
  eyes
• 47:16
  and
• 47:17
  sell
• 47:17
  them
• 47:17
  a
• 47:18
  false
• 47:18
  bill
• 47:18
  of
• 47:18
  goods.
• 47:19
  But
• 47:19
  yeah,
• 47:19
  I
• 47:19
  mean,
• 47:19
  there's
• 47:20
  a
• 47:20
  lot
• 47:20
  of
• 47:20
  buyer
• 47:20
  beware
• 47:21
  and
• 47:21
  a
• 47:21
  lot
• 47:21
  of,
• 47:21
  I
• 47:21
  mean,
• 47:22
  it's
• 47:22
  really
• 47:22
  comes
• 47:23
  down
• 47:23
  to
• 47:23
  being
• 47:23
  a
• 47:23
  consumer
• 47:23
  protection
• 47:24
  issue
• 47:24
  in
• 47:25
  many
• 47:25
  ways
• 47:26
  with
• 47:26
  these
• 47:26
  contractors.
• 47:27
  What?
• 47:27
  You
• 47:27
  know,
• 47:28
  we
• 47:28
  try
• 47:28
  to
• 47:28
  fight
• 47:28
  the
• 47:28
  good
• 47:28
  fight
• 47:29
  for
• 47:29
  those
• 47:29
  folks
• 47:29
  down
• 47:29
  here.
• 47:30
  Yeah.
• 47:31
  And
• 47:31
  I
• 47:31
  think
• 47:31
  it's
• 47:31
  a
• 47:31
  good
• 47:31
  education.
• 47:32
  It's
• 47:32
  easy
• 47:32
  on
• 47:32
  social
• 47:33
  media.
• 47:33
  Find
• 47:33
  some
• 47:34
  of
• 47:34
  those
• 47:34
  people
• 47:34
  out.
• 47:34
  There's
• 47:34
  people
• 47:35
  out
• 47:35
  there
• 47:35
  with
• 47:35
  millions
• 47:35
  of
• 47:36
  follows,
• 47:36
  right.
• 47:37
  Jump
• 47:37
  on
• 47:38
  of
• 47:38
  the
• 47:38
  building
• 47:39
  inspectors
• 47:39
  or
• 47:39
  the
• 47:40
  construction
• 47:41
  inspectors
• 47:41
  on
• 47:41
  there
• 47:42
  and
• 47:42
  take
• 47:42
  a
• 47:42
  look
• 47:43
  what
• 47:43
  they're
• 47:43
  seeing
• 47:44
  in
• 47:45
  permitted
• 47:45
  new
• 47:45
  builds
• 47:46
  out
• 47:46
  there.
• 47:46
  And
• 47:46
  it's
• 47:47
  A
• 47:47
  rabbit
• 47:47
  hole
• 47:47
  you
• 47:48
  can
• 47:48
  jump
• 47:48
  down,
• 47:48
  but
• 47:48
  you'll
• 47:49
  get
• 47:49
  an
• 47:49
  education
• 47:49
  of,
• 47:50
  of
• 47:50
  what
• 47:50
  these
• 47:50
  guys
• 47:50
  do
• 47:51
  and
• 47:51
  what
• 47:51
  they
• 47:51
  can
• 47:51
  do
• 47:51
  for
• 47:52
  you.
• 47:52
  And
• 47:52
  it
• 47:53
  sounds
• 47:53
  like
• 47:53
  a
• 47:53
  commercial
• 47:53
  forum,
• 47:54
  but
• 47:54
  you
• 47:54
  really
• 47:54
  go,
• 47:54
  oh,
• 47:55
  wow,
• 47:55
  they
• 47:55
  cost
• 47:55
  that.
• 47:56
  And
• 47:56
  the
• 47:56
  inspector
• 47:57
  missed
• 47:57
  it.
• 47:57
  Wow,
• 47:58
  okay.
• 47:58
  And
• 47:59
  it's
• 47:59
  a
• 47:59
  big
• 47:59
  deal,
• 48:00
  you
• 48:00
  know,
• 48:00
  from,
• 48:00
  from
• 48:01
  broken
• 48:01
  trusses
• 48:02
  to
• 48:03
  cracked
• 48:03
  bathtubs
• 48:04
  and
• 48:04
  things
• 48:04
  like
• 48:04
  that
• 48:04
  that
• 48:05
  are
• 48:05
  way
• 48:05
  harder
• 48:05
  to
• 48:06
  deal
• 48:06
  with
• 48:06
  later
• 48:06
  down
• 48:06
  the
• 48:06
  road.
• 48:07
  Oh,
• 48:07
  yeah,
• 48:08
  absolutely.
• 48:08
  It's,
• 48:08
  it's,
• 48:09
  you
• 48:09
  know,
• 48:09
  it's.
• 48:09
  I've
• 48:09
  got
• 48:10
  a
• 48:10
  client
• 48:10
  who's
• 48:10
  building
• 48:11
  a
• 48:11
  house
• 48:12
  and,
• 48:12
  you
• 48:12
  know,
• 48:12
  for,
• 48:12
  for
• 48:13
  months
• 48:13
  the
• 48:13
  builder
• 48:14
  left
• 48:14
  the
• 48:14
  trusses
• 48:15
  and
• 48:15
  other
• 48:16
  wood
• 48:16
  members
• 48:16
  just
• 48:17
  sitting
• 48:17
  in
• 48:17
  puddles
• 48:18
  of
• 48:18
  water
• 48:19
  on
• 48:19
  the
• 48:19
  property
• 48:20
  and,
• 48:20
  you
• 48:20
  know,
• 48:20
  is
• 48:21
  now
• 48:21
  built,
• 48:21
  framed
• 48:22
  the
• 48:22
  house.
• 48:22
  I
• 48:22
  mean,
• 48:23
  there
• 48:23
  is
• 48:23
  mold
• 48:23
  all
• 48:23
  over
• 48:24
  it.
• 48:24
  And,
• 48:24
  you
• 48:24
  know,
• 48:25
  the
• 48:25
  client
• 48:26
  and
• 48:26
  trying
• 48:26
  to
• 48:26
  deal
• 48:26
  with
• 48:26
  the
• 48:26
  builder
• 48:27
  himself.
• 48:27
  The
• 48:27
  builder
• 48:27
  acknowledged
• 48:28
  it,
• 48:28
  they
• 48:29
  scrubbed
• 48:29
  a
• 48:29
  little
• 48:29
  bleach
• 48:30
  on
• 48:30
  some
• 48:30
  parts
• 48:30
  of
• 48:30
  it
• 48:30
  and
• 48:30
  that
• 48:31
  didn't
• 48:31
  really
• 48:31
  get
• 48:31
  it
• 48:31
  done.
• 48:32
  Of
• 48:32
  course,
• 48:32
  the
• 48:33
  builder
• 48:33
  finally
• 48:33
  said,
• 48:34
  you
• 48:34
  know
• 48:34
  what,
• 48:34
  it's
• 48:34
  a
• 48:34
  warranty
• 48:35
  issue,
• 48:35
  we'll
• 48:35
  deal
• 48:35
  with
• 48:35
  it
• 48:36
  later.
• 48:36
  And
• 48:36
  the
• 48:36
  owner's
• 48:37
  like,
• 48:37
  what
• 48:37
  are
• 48:37
  you
• 48:37
  talking
• 48:37
  about?
• 48:38
  How
• 48:38
  are
• 48:38
  you
• 48:38
  going
• 48:39
  to
• 48:39
  deal
• 48:39
  with
• 48:39
  it
• 48:39
  later?
• 48:39
  You're
• 48:39
  going
• 48:39
  to
• 48:39
  build
• 48:40
  everything
• 48:40
  else
• 48:40
  around
• 48:40
  it
• 48:40
  and
• 48:40
  we're
• 48:41
  going
• 48:41
  to
• 48:41
  have
• 48:41
  to
• 48:41
  rip
• 48:41
  it
• 48:41
  all
• 48:41
  apart
• 48:41
  to
• 48:41
  get
• 48:42
  back
• 48:42
  to
• 48:42
  the.
• 48:42
  No,
• 48:43
  absolutely
• 48:43
  not.
• 48:43
  So
• 48:44
  we're
• 48:44
  in
• 48:44
  a
• 48:44
  dispute
• 48:44
  now
• 48:45
  as
• 48:45
  a
• 48:45
  result
• 48:45
  of
• 48:45
  that,
• 48:45
  but
• 48:46
  yeah,
• 48:46
  it's
• 48:46
  a
• 48:46
  good
• 48:46
  dispute.
• 48:47
  Yeah,
• 48:47
  yeah,
• 48:48
  it
• 48:48
  is.
• 48:48
  So
• 48:48
  anyway,
• 48:49
  yeah,
• 48:49
  I
• 48:49
  mean,
• 48:49
  it's.
• 48:50
  It's
• 48:50
  a
• 48:50
  little
• 48:50
  bit
• 48:50
  of
• 48:50
  the
• 48:50
  wild,
• 48:50
  wild
• 48:51
  west
• 48:51
  sometimes,
• 48:52
  you
• 48:52
  know,
• 48:52
  and,
• 48:52
  and
• 48:52
  you
• 48:53
  know,
• 48:53
  the
• 48:53
  more
• 48:53
  I'm,
• 48:54
  you
• 48:54
  know,
• 48:54
  glad
• 48:54
  you
• 48:54
  do
• 48:54
  what
• 48:55
  you
• 48:55
  do
• 48:55
  because,
• 48:55
  you
• 48:55
  know,
• 48:55
  the
• 48:56
  more
• 48:56
  education
• 48:56
  that
• 48:57
  we
• 48:57
  can
• 48:57
  give
• 48:57
  to
• 48:57
  these
• 48:58
  people
• 48:58
  out
• 48:58
  there,
• 48:58
  you
• 48:59
  know,
• 48:59
  the.
• 48:59
  Hopefully
• 48:59
  it
• 49:00
  raises,
• 49:00
  you
• 49:01
  know,
• 49:01
  the
• 49:01
  tide,
• 49:01
  raises
• 49:02
  all
• 49:02
  boats.
• 49:02
  So
• 49:03
  hopefully,
• 49:03
  you
• 49:03
  know,
• 49:04
  just.
• 49:04
  Yeah.
• 49:04
  Increases
• 49:05
  the,
• 49:05
  the
• 49:05
  overall,
• 49:06
  you
• 49:06
  know,
• 49:06
  quality
• 49:07
  of
• 49:07
  the
• 49:07
  construction
• 49:07
  throughout.
• 49:08
  Absolutely.
• 49:09
  Well,
• 49:09
  Andy,
• 49:09
  we
• 49:09
  are
• 49:09
  running
• 49:10
  out
• 49:10
  of
• 49:10
  time.
• 49:10
  What
• 49:10
  is
• 49:10
  the
• 49:11
  best
• 49:11
  place
• 49:11
  for
• 49:11
  people
• 49:12
  out
• 49:12
  there
• 49:12
  to
• 49:12
  find
• 49:13
  you?
• 49:13
  Whether
• 49:14
  they're
• 49:14
  a
• 49:14
  contractor
• 49:15
  trying
• 49:16
  to
• 49:16
  up
• 49:16
  their
• 49:16
  game
• 49:17
  or
• 49:17
  a
• 49:17
  homeowner
• 49:17
  that's
• 49:18
  like,
• 49:18
  I'm
• 49:18
  in
• 49:19
  knee
• 49:19
  deep
• 49:19
  in
• 49:19
  a
• 49:19
  mess.
• 49:19
  I
• 49:19
  need
• 49:20
  to
• 49:20
  get
• 49:20
  myself
• 49:20
  out
• 49:20
  of
• 49:20
  it.
• 49:21
  Yeah.
• 49:21
  So,
• 49:21
  you
• 49:22
  know,
• 49:22

• 49:22
  name
• 49:22

• 49:23
