- 0:05Speaker 1: Who are the top five players of the twenty first century?
- 0:09Speaker 1: Bron Kratz and top Father. Here will get lists from
- 0:11Speaker 1: the two former players. Krats, you get to go first.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Top five players in the two thousands.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Guys that played in the two thousands a little different,
- 0:20Speaker 2: the guys that were definitely the best the entire time.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Gotta start with Justin Verlander. I have a hard time
- 0:27Speaker 2: not putting a pitcher who won an MVP on the list.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I get it, sure Zer and him were close but
- 0:33Speaker 2: complete games. The fact that he did it at such
- 0:36Speaker 2: a dominant level. Justin Verlander. Number five Clayton Kershaw. In
- 0:40Speaker 2: my opinion, it's the best left handed pitcher I've ever seen.
- 0:43Speaker 2: He even declined with his velocity, and yet his numbers
- 0:48Speaker 2: stayed the same. People want to hate on different like
- 0:51Speaker 2: single pitches that he's thrown in the playoffs. Now he's
- 0:54Speaker 2: a three time World Series champion. Goes out on top.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Clayton Kershaw, best picture of this center of the twenty
- 1:02Speaker 2: first century. Miggy Cabrera, a triple crown, A guy who
- 1:08Speaker 2: from the right side is the second best wait, no,
- 1:12Speaker 2: look at my list, third best hitter, but maybe the
- 1:17Speaker 2: most pure hitter. That's on this list. Obviously, when I
- 1:21Speaker 2: get to one, he's going to debate that. But Miguel
- 1:25Speaker 2: Cabrera could do some things playing against him that you
- 1:28Speaker 2: were just like, I get it, like this is not
- 1:32Speaker 2: that easy to hit, but he would do it and
- 1:35Speaker 2: he made it look that easy. Number two mine and
- 1:39Speaker 2: Todd's ex teammate, Mike Trout. What he was doing early
- 1:44Speaker 2: in his career was historical and it was kind of
- 1:47Speaker 2: ironic that he gets to play with the number one
- 1:50Speaker 2: player in the world in Shoheo Tani and he's gotten
- 1:54Speaker 2: to play. He got to play with the number one
- 1:57Speaker 2: player on my list in aberpool Host. But my Trout's
- 2:01Speaker 2: only downfall is that he has not had opportunities in
- 2:04Speaker 2: the playoffs. I feel like this is a guy who
- 2:07Speaker 2: has gone out and was on pace to rewrite the
- 2:10Speaker 2: record books and still has an opportunity to have some
- 2:13Speaker 2: more years if he can figure out how to stay
- 2:15Speaker 2: on the field. And Number one, the best right handed
- 2:18Speaker 2: hitter that I ever played against, bar Nunn Albert pool Hosts.
- 2:23Speaker 2: What he was doing when he first got called up
- 2:26Speaker 2: made me question.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Is this guy really twenty or twenty one years old?
- 2:30Speaker 2: And then he played past his forties, he played and
- 2:34Speaker 2: hit at a level that if you look at his
- 2:36Speaker 2: first ten years, I don't know that we're going to
- 2:39Speaker 2: see a consistent level of three hundred thirty and one
- 2:44Speaker 2: hundred RBIs in consecutive seasons. I don't know that we'll
- 2:48Speaker 2: see that again because of how hard it is to
- 2:50Speaker 2: hit over three hundred and Albert pool host did it,
- 2:54Speaker 2: and I know everyone's gonna remember him in this age
- 2:57Speaker 2: about the Angels career, but when you go and look
- 3:02Speaker 2: at what he did with the Cardinals, it is nobody's
- 3:06Speaker 2: touched it in the twenty first century. Todd, I definitely
- 3:09Speaker 2: am excited to see your list, but I need I
- 3:14Speaker 2: need you to build me up and tell me how
- 3:16Speaker 2: good list is phenomenal.
- 3:19Speaker 4: I think it's it's a really really good list. I
- 3:23Speaker 4: think you put a lot of good heart and thought
- 3:25Speaker 4: into it. I have a couple that are on there,
- 3:27Speaker 4: but I also have you might be surprised a couple
- 3:30Speaker 4: that are not on your list. So if we can
- 3:33Speaker 4: go to my list first off, I and you're probably
- 3:37Speaker 4: gonna look at me funny, but yeah, well I'm gonna
- 3:40Speaker 4: start with number one because you know this is the
- 3:43Speaker 4: goat of all goats. He had five hundred and twenty
- 3:46Speaker 4: three saves from two thousand and one on the two
- 3:49Speaker 4: time World Series winner with one pitch guys, he threw
- 3:54Speaker 4: one pitch. It was a cutter that nobody can hit. Unfortunately,
- 3:59Speaker 4: and fortunately for me, I never got to face him.
- 4:01Speaker 4: I was up fifth to one inning and he threw
- 4:03Speaker 4: seven pitches broke two bats. So I was like, all,
- 4:05Speaker 4: at least I got to save my bat. But this guy,
- 4:08Speaker 4: when you talk about the best closer of all time,
- 4:11Speaker 4: the best one pitch pitcher of all time, Marinovera's number one,
- 4:17Speaker 4: Albert Polholtz, Like you said, I can go on and
- 4:19Speaker 4: on about him. At my number two, I mean one guy.
- 4:23Speaker 4: There was only a handful of guys that I was
- 4:24Speaker 4: afraid of. This guy was on the top of my list.
- 4:27Speaker 4: When I played third base, I would back up and
- 4:29Speaker 4: if he ever tried to bunt, I would give it
- 4:31Speaker 4: to him. He was just absolutely incredible. His work ethic,
- 4:34Speaker 4: you know how he held his bat up and down.
- 4:37Speaker 4: It just everything about him. Each Rosuzuki I thought would
- 4:40Speaker 4: have been on your list. This guy when you think
- 4:42Speaker 4: about the best Japanese ballplayer of all time, right now
- 4:46Speaker 4: to come over to America each Rosuzuki is on top
- 4:49Speaker 4: of that list. Left handed specialist. They said, this guy
- 4:53Speaker 4: can hit a home run on demand in batting practice
- 4:55Speaker 4: any time he wanted to. I would have loved to
- 4:57Speaker 4: see him do a home run derby or at least
- 4:59Speaker 4: face him. I thought that would be cool. You talked
- 5:01Speaker 4: about Miguel Cabrera, absolutely phenomenal. I remember my brother Charlie
- 5:05Speaker 4: play with him in rookie ball. I went down to Florida,
- 5:08Speaker 4: a real tall, but slender Migy Cabrera a getting after
- 5:13Speaker 4: playing shortstop. This guy hit the ball to all fields
- 5:17Speaker 4: a musty TV and yeah, Clayton Kershaw the best left
- 5:20Speaker 4: handed pitcher I've ever seen or ever hit against. You know,
- 5:25Speaker 4: I just can't wait to tell my son one day
- 5:27Speaker 4: as he gets older and understand that all these guys
- 5:30Speaker 4: are Hall of famers and I got to play against
- 5:32Speaker 4: a couple of them. So for me, ultimately, this is
- 5:36Speaker 4: my list, and I got the big male on top.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Wow, there you go. I like what both of you did.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I do have questions, and in order to ask those questions,
- 5:47Speaker 1: I think I'm going to utilize a source. This is
- 5:49Speaker 1: a hotly debated topic in terms of who we're looking at.
- 5:52Speaker 1: And also keep in mind we're looking at twenty first century,
- 5:55Speaker 1: so what these players did in the nineties doesn't count.
- 5:59Speaker 1: And that's okay. I mean, for example, with Mo Todd
- 6:02Speaker 1: father he dominated really starting in nineteen ninety six, but
- 6:06Speaker 1: he dominated through the two thousands up until he retired
- 6:09Speaker 1: after the twenty thirteen season. So yes, you are docking
- 6:12Speaker 1: ninety six to ninety nine, but he still had a
- 6:14Speaker 1: long run. Let's show ESPN's top ten list when they
- 6:17Speaker 1: put this out, and I'll give you, maybe verbally a
- 6:20Speaker 1: little bit more. After that. They went Coohles one, Mike
- 6:23Speaker 1: Trout two, Clayton Kershaw three, Miggy four each row five.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Barry Bonds checks in at six. Again remembering that a
- 6:31Speaker 1: lot of his work was before the twenty first century
- 6:34Speaker 1: and a lot of it was after, so or I
- 6:35Speaker 1: guess less of that after. But still point is you
- 6:37Speaker 1: got to look at just from two thousand on Justin
- 6:39Speaker 1: Verlanders seven, eight Rod eight, David Ortiz nine, Maxers are ten.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And for their list, they're just going off statistics. So
- 6:46Speaker 1: if you want to start playing the ped suspicion game,
- 6:49Speaker 1: they were not playing that.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Now.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I think a lot of fans that watch this show
- 6:54Speaker 1: and this channel are going to say, excuse me, show, Hey,
- 6:58Speaker 1: Kannie has been playing for a while at this point,
- 7:00Speaker 1: racking up MVP awards. Guys, how come he can't crack
- 7:03Speaker 1: your top five? Is he a guy that could crack
- 7:06Speaker 1: your top ten? He's fourteen on ESPN's list, and I
- 7:11Speaker 1: think a lot of this just has to do with
- 7:13Speaker 1: him not compiling the same amount of statistics yet as
- 7:16Speaker 1: some of the others. I would have him in my
- 7:18Speaker 1: top five for the uniqueness, the pitching and the hitting,
- 7:21Speaker 1: the winning. He's got it all. And to me, it's
- 7:23Speaker 1: been long enough. Where would he be in your mind?
- 7:26Speaker 1: Todd Father, he would be.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I think he's right where he needs to be right now.
- 7:33Speaker 4: I gotta be honest with you. There were some guys
- 7:35Speaker 4: in the two thousands. I mean a Rod Barry Bonds
- 7:39Speaker 4: was on my list, Mike Trout was a close six
- 7:42Speaker 4: to seven range. Yeah, I think he's about there, a
- 7:45Speaker 4: little over the ten mark. And I think David Ortiz
- 7:47Speaker 4: I was thinking about a lot. I mean, how clutch
- 7:50Speaker 4: was that guy? So in due time he will definitely
- 7:54Speaker 4: be top five, if not, you know, top one or
- 7:58Speaker 4: two for sure. A Barry Bonds. I mean he what
- 8:01Speaker 4: he had. I mean, yeah, but it's again, it started
- 8:03Speaker 4: in two thousand. But yes, I think he's about exactly
- 8:06Speaker 4: where he should be right now.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Okay, And they did have Marianna Rivera at thirteen. You'll
- 8:13Speaker 1: hear a little bit of pushback Todd father, because you
- 8:15Speaker 1: went with someone who's not playing every day and he's
- 8:18Speaker 1: a closer. I'm with you, he's by far the best
- 8:20Speaker 1: closer of all time. What would be your pushback to
- 8:23Speaker 1: someone that says, how are you not picking a position
- 8:26Speaker 1: player like a pool holes or a trout or somebody
- 8:28Speaker 1: that can do it all on an everyday basis, not pitch,
- 8:31Speaker 1: but do it all in terms of contributing to the
- 8:34Speaker 1: lineup and playing every day.
- 8:36Speaker 4: And listen, I could have easily flip flopped the hitter
- 8:38Speaker 4: in there too. I thought about this when I thought
- 8:41Speaker 4: about the numbers. I thought about as I said before,
- 8:44Speaker 4: he did it with one pitch, and he got everybody
- 8:48Speaker 4: out with that one pitch. You know, he had two
- 8:50Speaker 4: World Series, so did pool hosts. It just every time
- 8:56Speaker 4: this guy and his music came on, you knew the
- 8:59Speaker 4: game was over? Did you know it was? The game
- 9:01Speaker 4: was over? When Pulholes is up in the bottom of
- 9:03Speaker 4: the ninth. No, not all the time. Yeah, you would
- 9:06Speaker 4: most likely think he's gonna do something. Bonds everybody else
- 9:10Speaker 4: you could think of was the game pretty much ninety
- 9:13Speaker 4: five percent. I don't know the exact statistic, but it's
- 9:16Speaker 4: got to be eighty to ninety in that range game over.
- 9:20Speaker 4: You can't say that about any other person. So that's
- 9:23Speaker 4: why one pitch and how dominant he was lights that
- 9:27Speaker 4: that was my decision.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Hey Kratz, where's Otani for you? Since you've been I
- 9:32Speaker 1: would say a huge proponent of him basically racking up
- 9:35Speaker 1: any award possible. Right, we have the famous Otani versus
- 9:39Speaker 1: a Kunya overall Player of the Year from several years back,
- 9:43Speaker 1: where you're like, how do you go against shoh and
- 9:47Speaker 1: he continues to get overlooked sometimes when the players are
- 9:50Speaker 1: voting and those players choice the word votes when they
- 9:52Speaker 1: picked Kyle Schorber this past season over show Aotani. But
- 9:56Speaker 1: how come Otani doesn't crack your list versus Trout As
- 9:59Speaker 1: we speak right now, I'm trying to pull up the
- 10:01Speaker 1: season by season comparison for them, because clearly Otani is
- 10:06Speaker 1: doing things that we have never seen before. So is
- 10:09Speaker 1: he just not giving you enough length yet? Because it's
- 10:12Speaker 1: not like Mike Trout had this super long peak we're
- 10:14Speaker 1: going to look back and say Hall of Fame, Locke,
- 10:16Speaker 1: but it did tail off. So for Trout, you're really
- 10:19Speaker 1: looking at twenty twelve through twenty nineteen, right, that's the peak.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Twenty twenty two was pretty solid too, So if you
- 10:27Speaker 1: want to count, what is that eight seasons or so?
- 10:30Speaker 1: Showy Otani as of when we're doing this is about
- 10:33Speaker 1: to enter his ninth season. So the body of works
- 10:37Speaker 1: getting there, man.
- 10:39Speaker 2: It is, but it's more recent. And I have show Hey.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I had show Hey at nine. No chance David Ortiz.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Is up there.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Sorry, there's just no don't. I also don't have show
- 10:50Speaker 2: Hey above a rod Or Bonds. Bonds won second place
- 10:53Speaker 2: in the MVP in two thousand and then he went
- 10:56Speaker 2: two thousand and one to two three and four, he
- 11:00Speaker 2: was MVP, and so yeah, I have I have those
- 11:05Speaker 2: guys above him. And today, I know this might get
- 11:08Speaker 2: some controversy, but Shoelo Town, he's not a Hall of
- 11:11Speaker 2: Famer today. If he never plays another game, he's not
- 11:14Speaker 2: a Hall of Famer.
- 11:16Speaker 1: That's so wrong Wright, because he doesn't hit the number.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I think the winds above replacement number. But a lot
- 11:21Speaker 1: of stat nerds go off these days. I want to
- 11:24Speaker 1: say it's like fifty ish and Otani is at thirty
- 11:28Speaker 1: five point four, although I got to make sure I'm looking. Oh,
- 11:32Speaker 1: I'm just looking at the batting side side.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Statistically impossible, shoe halo Tony doesn't play another game. He
- 11:38Speaker 2: falls short because you need ten years of service time.
- 11:41Speaker 2: So that's why I say he's not a Hall of
- 11:42Speaker 2: Famer yet do.
- 11:43Speaker 1: You need one? Regardless? So if you're the best player
- 11:46Speaker 1: on the planet for nine years, you can't make the
- 11:49Speaker 1: Hall of Fame.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Unless they change the rules.
- 11:52Speaker 4: I sure didn't know that. I didn't know that.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Wow, I wouldn't I wouldn't push all in on that.
- 11:59Speaker 2: But that's what I was doing.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Well, well, he does, Todd Filer give him thirty seconds
- 12:06Speaker 1: of crap so I can look it up.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Listen, sho Otani is a Hall of Famer right now.
- 12:15Speaker 4: He is truly remarkable. He's the best hitter in our
- 12:17Speaker 4: generation besides Barry Bonds. As I've said this before, Barry
- 12:22Speaker 4: was the best show. Hey, he's a pitcher, he's a
- 12:24Speaker 4: hitter coming off surgeries and coming out and still dominate
- 12:27Speaker 4: and finding ways to get m vps a couple time
- 12:30Speaker 4: World Series champ Ah. I don't know anybody in their
- 12:35Speaker 4: right mind right now, take the rules out of it,
- 12:37Speaker 4: that wouldn't take him as a Hall of Famer right now.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, he's right as far as the quick
- 12:45Speaker 1: AI check us, but I'm not that that is not
- 12:52Speaker 1: the eligibility for this list. So I go very much
- 12:55Speaker 1: against you both show hey would be.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I didn't say he wasn't.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I didn't say, but he's not in either of your
- 13:01Speaker 1: top five. But top fathers telling me how he's one
- 13:03Speaker 1: of the best players he's seen, and then you're saying
- 13:06Speaker 1: he's amazing and he should be winning Player of the
- 13:08Speaker 1: Year for anything anytime he can. And yet neither of
- 13:10Speaker 1: you can put him in the top five because he's
- 13:12Speaker 1: only played for seven or eight seasons.
- 13:16Speaker 2: And he's really only had twenty one to twenty five
- 13:19Speaker 2: of dominance. Now, the fact that he pitched during that
- 13:24Speaker 2: entire time, he was getting his feet wet and he
- 13:26Speaker 2: was impressive to watch. But when you talk about the
- 13:29Speaker 2: fact that what those guys did that are on my list,
- 13:33Speaker 2: I think I have him above him. Like, right now,
- 13:35Speaker 2: he's Bonds. He tied Bonds with the same MVPs. He
- 13:41Speaker 2: tied Barry Bonds, the greatest hitter of all time in MVPs.
- 13:45Speaker 2: At this point he's tied. So today I have him
- 13:49Speaker 2: still in my top ten, not.
- 13:50Speaker 4: My Scout or five Scootera. To finish it off, it's
- 13:53Speaker 4: ten seasons, not ten years. It says ten seasons. Okay,
- 13:58Speaker 4: so I still have I had eleven seasons. It's a joke.
- 14:04Speaker 1: But seriously, no, you're right there. You just got up here,
- 14:07Speaker 1: gotta up here, right, I mean, hey, Trout's not putting
- 14:10Speaker 1: together monster numbers anymore, but you're looking back at the
- 14:13Speaker 1: career and of course he's played more than ten years
- 14:15Speaker 1: at this point. Anyway, just slice and dice, do what
- 14:18Speaker 1: you want with this or having fun. Comment below on
- 14:21Speaker 1: what you're watching, who we missed, and how you would
- 14:24Speaker 1: rank your list. We love you and we'll keep doing
- 14:27Speaker 1: this if you like it, nice and simple. Top five
- 14:36Speaker 1: stadiums of all time? AJ lay out your list.
- 14:40Speaker 5: I mean, if we're going all time, we're going baseball
- 14:41Speaker 5: obviously for me. And if I have them going Wrigglelyfield,
- 14:44Speaker 5: why now I have to I have to understand you
- 14:47Speaker 5: have to I have to kind of quantify or I
- 14:50Speaker 5: don't know, qualify this a little bit.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Wrigley Field before they redid.
- 14:53Speaker 5: It with the scoreboards and all that, because it was
- 14:56Speaker 5: just a cool place to go in Chicago. Plus, say,
- 14:58Speaker 5: budde the hell out of me, and I love going
- 15:00Speaker 5: there every time and breaking their hearts.
- 15:02Speaker 3: So number five for me is Wrigley Field. Number four for.
- 15:06Speaker 5: Me is whatever the heck they call San Francisco's Park now,
- 15:10Speaker 5: just because it's a beautiful view.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I love playing there. It's one of the best ballparks.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Once you're in the ball field and you're on the
- 15:17Speaker 5: field and you look out and you see the water.
- 15:18Speaker 5: Plus I got to see Barry Bonce at six hundred
- 15:20Speaker 5: and sixty homers. Barry Bonce hit seven home runs, seven
- 15:23Speaker 5: hundred home runs. And also Greg Maddox got just three
- 15:26Speaker 5: hundred to win there against US, and I was the
- 15:27Speaker 5: last hitter. I got a hit and they took him
- 15:29Speaker 5: out of the game. We didn't score and we lost.
- 15:30Speaker 5: So yes, I've seen some special moments there for me.
- 15:33Speaker 5: Then number three for me is Safego Slash t Mobile
- 15:37Speaker 5: Park out in Seattle. Why I loved hitting there I
- 15:40Speaker 5: love going to Seattle, and I got my first big
- 15:43Speaker 5: league homer there, and it's where Phil Hummer through a
- 15:46Speaker 5: perfect game and I got to catch it. So there's
- 15:48Speaker 5: special memories for me in Seattle, and it's where I
- 15:51Speaker 5: kind of felt like I became a big.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Leader when I hit my first time run.
- 15:54Speaker 5: Number two for me, you best cellular field now called
- 15:57Speaker 5: Rate Field, Why because I played there for eight years.
- 15:59Speaker 5: It was my longest ten your home stadium. We won
- 16:02Speaker 5: a World Series there, we want playoff games there, and
- 16:04Speaker 5: it was always just a great place to go. And
- 16:06Speaker 5: then last, but not least for me, Number one is
- 16:08Speaker 5: Old Yankee Stadium. I don't even have to explain why
- 16:10Speaker 5: Old Yankee Stadium was the best, just because it was
- 16:13Speaker 5: Old Yankee Stadium and every great player almost of all
- 16:16Speaker 5: time got to step foot on there.
- 16:18Speaker 3: It had the best atmosphere.
- 16:19Speaker 5: I was fortunate enough to play playoff games there, one
- 16:22Speaker 5: of the coolest places you just walked around.
- 16:24Speaker 3: You felt historic just stepping in the batter's box.
- 16:28Speaker 5: And plus when I got to play there, I mean
- 16:29Speaker 5: they had Jeter and Bernie and the Core four and
- 16:32Speaker 5: you're facing Mariano within her sammn so just an awesome place.
- 16:35Speaker 5: And by the way, honorable mentioned Metronome. Why was my
- 16:38Speaker 5: first home stadium in the big leagues. I know it
- 16:40Speaker 5: wasn't iconic, but it was just a cool place to
- 16:42Speaker 5: say you got to play.
- 16:43Speaker 3: So those are my five. If you don't like them,
- 16:44Speaker 3: I don't care. Those are my five.
- 16:50Speaker 2: You don't like him, I don't care.
- 16:52Speaker 3: I love them.
- 16:53Speaker 2: I love talking about stadiums like aj Aj didn't even
- 16:56Speaker 2: get He probably talked twenty minutes on why each stadium
- 16:59Speaker 2: and stories and all that stuff. But like when he
- 17:01Speaker 2: was mentioning his stadiums, they're not on my list, but
- 17:04Speaker 2: I get like chills on my neck because even as
- 17:07Speaker 2: a kid going to these stadiums, going to different stadiums,
- 17:10Speaker 2: it's like imprinted in my brain when you walk into
- 17:13Speaker 2: a stadium and you like, look out over the field.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I grew up going to Vet the Vet Veterans Stadium
- 17:19Speaker 2: in Philly, probably one of the biggest dumps when you
- 17:21Speaker 2: talk to players of all time.
- 17:24Speaker 3: But walking in and seeing that.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Just burnt bright green turf, the astro turf, it's almost yellow,
- 17:32Speaker 2: like it just it's imprinted on my mind and something
- 17:36Speaker 2: about stadiums like I love it. So I don't really
- 17:39Speaker 2: care what anybody's list is. Your list is your list,
- 17:43Speaker 2: and there's like nostalgic reasons for all of them. So
- 17:46Speaker 2: I'm on board with AJ's.
- 17:47Speaker 1: List, okay, and you crafts are also actually real quick.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I'll just throw this in there. I love I don't
- 17:53Speaker 1: know if it's number one for me, but it's high up.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I two went to Yankee Stadium and I went to
- 17:59Speaker 1: crappy che Stadium lot both growing up. Yankee Stadium was
- 18:02Speaker 1: special and it was almost an impossible task for them
- 18:06Speaker 1: to replicate, and they didn't. They could not replicate it
- 18:09Speaker 1: almost by any means. It was just so no.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Crutz, no, no, they can't. They can't. But how can you?
- 18:15Speaker 3: How can you?
- 18:16Speaker 2: How can you replicate the fact that the upper deck
- 18:18Speaker 2: was like this steep like it like there's so many
- 18:22Speaker 2: things that couldn't be replicated safety wise, but also like,
- 18:26Speaker 2: why do I want to go to a new stadium
- 18:27Speaker 2: that has the uncomfortablenesses of an old stadium? So, I mean,
- 18:32Speaker 2: that's true, they tried, but it's just a different atmosphere.
- 18:36Speaker 1: That's fair. You got to make it bougie for the
- 18:38Speaker 1: New York crowd. So what's your list?
- 18:41Speaker 2: My list, and I don't know that this is necessarily
- 18:44Speaker 2: the order, and they're all different reasons, but I'll start
- 18:47Speaker 2: with five. I think on my list five is Camden Yards.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Just yep, the fact, the fact that Camden Yards is
- 18:58Speaker 2: like kind of like the fourth front of new stadiums
- 19:01Speaker 2: that came in, and how they've kept it, the way
- 19:04Speaker 2: that they have something about the whole atmosphere everything there.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I love it, and I got I gotta look back
- 19:10Speaker 2: to see what my number four is here so that
- 19:12Speaker 2: I don't mess it up. Coughton Stadium, you gave it
- 19:15Speaker 2: to I pick Kaufman because I think it's one of
- 19:19Speaker 2: the most underrated. You look at it, You're like, eh,
- 19:22Speaker 2: you know what, it's not nothing crazy, But I mean
- 19:25Speaker 2: we made two World Series runs when I was there,
- 19:28Speaker 2: like it was and I got cut halfway through the
- 19:31Speaker 2: second season when we finally won it. But something about
- 19:34Speaker 2: that stadium in a playoff atmosphere will always have a
- 19:37Speaker 2: place in my heart. And I was gonna put I
- 19:40Speaker 2: was gonna put Miller Park there now American Family Financial
- 19:45Speaker 2: Field or something, but that's a dome and that's a
- 19:48Speaker 2: whole another list for me. So number three Fenway Park.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I've never been at Fenway whether the Red Sox are
- 19:56Speaker 2: in a playoff hunt. I've been there for a wild
- 19:59Speaker 2: card game. I've been there during COVID when there's no fans.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I've been there when the Red Sox are not in
- 20:07Speaker 2: the playoff hunt and the team stinks. There's an energy
- 20:11Speaker 2: in that park that hasn't for me, hasn't been duplicated
- 20:15Speaker 2: in any stadium. And I've heard the fans crazy, and
- 20:19Speaker 2: I've heard them booing and hating their team, like it's
- 20:23Speaker 2: just something about that, like small, quaint feel. It's not
- 20:26Speaker 2: there's no upper deck. It's for me, there's something. There's
- 20:30Speaker 2: something really really cool about that place, Citizens Bank Park,
- 20:33Speaker 2: kind of like AJ and Seattle first ever big league
- 20:37Speaker 2: homer and the fact that you know, that was my
- 20:40Speaker 2: opportunity to be in the big leagues and I got
- 20:42Speaker 2: an opportunity.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I had been in the big leagues the year.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Before with the Pirates, but it was something that you know,
- 20:49Speaker 2: wasn't really much of an opportunity. I finally got an
- 20:52Speaker 2: opportunity with Philly, and I grew up a Phillies fan,
- 20:54Speaker 2: but I grew up a veteran stadium Phillies fan. So
- 20:59Speaker 2: to play at citizens. I just think you know the
- 21:01Speaker 2: atmosphere there in the playoffs that we were at, the
- 21:04Speaker 2: atmosphere in the fact that you know you're a local
- 21:07Speaker 2: kid playing for the team that you grew up watching.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Always that stadium will always have a place in my heart.
- 21:12Speaker 2: And p and C Park. P and C Park is
- 21:16Speaker 2: not just my debut, yes, but I've seen thirty thousand
- 21:22Speaker 2: people in those stands. I've seen three to four thousand
- 21:27Speaker 2: people in those stands, and just everything about it, the ambiance,
- 21:31Speaker 2: the place where it sets right next to the river
- 21:35Speaker 2: when it's freezing, when it's hot. Something about being there
- 21:39Speaker 2: just gives so much energy to me as a player.
- 21:44Speaker 2: And I've had awesome moments there. I've had some pretty
- 21:47Speaker 2: crappy moments if you look at my stats, but just
- 21:50Speaker 2: something about where you make your big league debut. And
- 21:53Speaker 2: I have a hard time believing anybody would argue with
- 21:56Speaker 2: me that there's a better like visual esthetic field than
- 22:01Speaker 2: PNC Park.
- 22:04Speaker 1: That's a good call for number one. Is there aha
- 22:07Speaker 1: a better visually asthetic pretty field?
- 22:11Speaker 5: I mean, the only one that it comes close is
- 22:13Speaker 5: San Francisco as far as looking out across when you're
- 22:16Speaker 5: sitting there and you can see the water and all that.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Other than that, PNC Philly's pretty good too.
- 22:21Speaker 5: People don't realize from Philly from the from the press box,
- 22:23Speaker 5: you can see downtown Philly a lot, you know. So
- 22:26Speaker 5: there's there's there's certain ones that have different fields depending
- 22:29Speaker 5: on where you're sitting, and some of them actually the
- 22:31Speaker 5: higher up you go, the better views, you believe it
- 22:34Speaker 5: or not get So, yeah, PNC's up there, San Frans
- 22:38Speaker 5: up there, Philly's up there. As far as views, after that,
- 22:41Speaker 5: you know, you kind of start running. I mean, like
- 22:43Speaker 5: I said, Wrigley was great until they put those scoreboards in.
- 22:45Speaker 5: You can see all the drunk people out there on
- 22:47Speaker 5: the buildings. But uh yeah, those are probably the top three.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Do you guys want to see the list? Not my list?
- 22:56Speaker 1: The list top ten?
- 22:58Speaker 2: It rotten Tomato is.
- 23:01Speaker 1: It's rotten tomatoes. And every park is the bestest, Every
- 23:05Speaker 1: park is ninety nine point nine percent. But here it
- 23:08Speaker 1: is from Fox Sports, and I'll read it too because
- 23:10Speaker 1: I know there's podcast crowd listening, Citizens Bank ten, Corsfield nine,
- 23:15Speaker 1: I love Coursefield, Peco Park eight also a great one.
- 23:19Speaker 1: We talked about Yankee Stadium. That's seven. Six is PNC
- 23:22Speaker 1: Park we talked about Oracle Park or whatever you call it.
- 23:24Speaker 1: In San Francisco at five four is Camden Yards Love
- 23:29Speaker 1: three Dodger Stadium to Wrigley Field and one Fenway Park.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Hey you guys, well, I guess say here's the Dame five.
- 23:40Speaker 1: You didn't go Camden. You didn't want Camden in there.
- 23:42Speaker 1: To me, that's probably to me, that's the best, like
- 23:46Speaker 1: nostalgia kind of old maybe for me growing up. I
- 23:49Speaker 1: went to the park when it first opened and then
- 23:53Speaker 1: still feels like it hits in.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Terms, still has the same stuff in Sidastic. It looks
- 23:58Speaker 5: exactly the same scott as it did. The clubhouses and
- 24:00Speaker 5: everything are exactly the same.
- 24:02Speaker 3: I mean it's sometimes you have to ring.
- 24:05Speaker 5: I know, but I but we rate them differently. As
- 24:07Speaker 5: a player, I rate things differently in how they were.
- 24:10Speaker 5: I mean, I listen, I played in old Tiger Stadium right,
- 24:13Speaker 5: like how places iconic as oh. I played an old
- 24:16Speaker 5: County stadium in Milwaukee. I played in Joe Robbie right
- 24:19Speaker 5: in Miami. I played in I mean where else? I mean,
- 24:22Speaker 5: where else.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Did I play? I played the King Doome right, I
- 24:25Speaker 3: played in the Vet Right.
- 24:27Speaker 5: These places were cool, but they didn't have the History
- 24:30Speaker 5: of a of a Yankee.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Yes, Fenway is cool.
- 24:33Speaker 5: I I didn't enjoy Fenway, but I didn't do well there,
- 24:36Speaker 5: so I didn't really you know, it wasn't one of
- 24:38Speaker 5: those places where I had great memories of other than
- 24:40Speaker 5: the time we beat them in the playoffs.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Other than that I didn't have.
- 24:43Speaker 5: I didn't do very well in Fenway, So it's not
- 24:44Speaker 5: like I look back. I always look back at the
- 24:46Speaker 5: places I did well. Those are the ones you enjoyed.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Montreal. Did you play in Montreal and.
- 24:50Speaker 3: I played in Puerto Rico? Does that count? You're supposed
- 24:53Speaker 3: to go to Montreal.
- 24:54Speaker 5: I got stuck going to Puerto Rico instead, So I mean,
- 24:56Speaker 5: Nean Francisco to Puerto Rico is right right next to
- 24:59Speaker 5: each other.
- 25:00Speaker 1: How was that, by the way, because that ballpark's yeah,
- 25:02Speaker 1: that ballpark's been now.
- 25:04Speaker 3: It wasn't very good. It rained so hard we had
- 25:06Speaker 3: to evacuate.
- 25:07Speaker 5: We had to evacuate the clubhouse because they were like,
- 25:10Speaker 5: it's going to flood, and so we had to walk
- 25:12Speaker 5: out and they had to build a ramp for us
- 25:13Speaker 5: to go to the bus because the water was about
- 25:15Speaker 5: knee high in the parking lot. So in order for
- 25:18Speaker 5: us to get to the bus, we had to walk
- 25:19Speaker 5: out on this ramp. They had to build a ramp.
- 25:21Speaker 5: I mean I also played at Fort Bragg Stadium when
- 25:23Speaker 5: they built like the Field of Dreams one.
- 25:25Speaker 3: I mean that was pretty awesome. I mean there's a lot.
- 25:27Speaker 3: I played in a lot of stadiums, a lot of
- 25:29Speaker 3: the old stadiums, in a lot of the new stadiums.
- 25:32Speaker 1: So these are all great. Yeah, I'm a Wrigglely over
- 25:35Speaker 1: Fenway guy. I mean they're both iconic and super unique,
- 25:38Speaker 1: but I take Wrigglely over Fenway. So this list is
- 25:41Speaker 1: not perfect for me on our way out. Is there
- 25:45Speaker 1: one that stands out where you're like, oh man, that's brutal.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I mean, I know the Coliseum was part of a
- 25:52Speaker 1: quiet quit situation recently, but anything else stand out where
- 25:55Speaker 1: you're just like, ah, I either hated playing there or
- 25:58Speaker 1: tell me, like the internal Organs that place where absolute shit.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I mean, hey, I remember AJ going into Wrigley Field
- 26:05Speaker 1: visiting clubhouse and I was like, do they just bring
- 26:08Speaker 1: half the team? There's no way you fit that many
- 26:12Speaker 1: people in here.
- 26:13Speaker 5: How about Qualcom where you had to walk underneath the
- 26:15Speaker 5: stands to get to the dugout. You had to you
- 26:17Speaker 5: walked out of the tunnel and you had to walk
- 26:19Speaker 5: on You had to do like a maze through the
- 26:21Speaker 5: stands to get to the dugout, and.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Then you could run.
- 26:23Speaker 5: The best is you could run into other You could
- 26:25Speaker 5: run into like the other team, kind of like Oakland,
- 26:27Speaker 5: where in Oakland you met in the middle behind the fans,
- 26:30Speaker 5: like you could run right into people underneath the stands.
- 26:32Speaker 3: I forget.
- 26:33Speaker 5: I was talking to somebody the other day and they're
- 26:34Speaker 5: remember that time we both tried to use the bathroom.
- 26:36Speaker 5: I didn't know the visitors knew about that bathroom in
- 26:38Speaker 5: San Diego. I forget who told me that story, But
- 26:40Speaker 5: it was like, oh, yeah, I remember that because he's like,
- 26:43Speaker 5: I didn't know the even visitors knew about this bathroom.
- 26:45Speaker 5: It was like a hidden bathroom down the underneath the
- 26:47Speaker 5: erector set. I mean, there's some listen. The old stadiums
- 26:51Speaker 5: were terrible. The vet crowds mentioned. Milwaukee County Stadium was
- 26:55Speaker 5: the clubhouse was smaller than Wriggly old Wrigley, I mean
- 26:58Speaker 5: Tiger Stadium, old Tiger Stadium because stand up in the dugout,
- 27:01Speaker 5: because the only Ken Rosenthal could stand up because the
- 27:03Speaker 5: dugout was about this high. I mean, listen, there's some
- 27:06Speaker 5: there were some bad places back in the day.
- 27:09Speaker 1: My own.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Yeah caveat to this list is there's some new stadiums that, like,
- 27:18Speaker 2: like Great American Small Park. As much as I love
- 27:21Speaker 2: playing hitting there, like I just felt like they did
- 27:24Speaker 2: it cheap. I just felt like they had an opportunity
- 27:26Speaker 2: to put a stadium on the river cool, like you know,
- 27:29Speaker 2: you can kind of see downtown the other way not
- 27:31Speaker 2: looking out through the stadium. I just felt like they
- 27:34Speaker 2: did it kind of. It was just like a big
- 27:36Speaker 2: minor league field. So like, there's some new stadiums that
- 27:39Speaker 2: I think they could have done a lot better than
- 27:41Speaker 2: they did. So that's another list for another day.
- 27:45Speaker 1: And for now, let us know if you liked this
- 27:48Speaker 1: and let us know what we missed or dissect lists,
- 27:51Speaker 1: including the one we showed you at the tail end
- 27:53Speaker 1: there the top ten iconic list.
- 27:55Speaker 5: The way, how is course field number nine? Course Field
- 27:57Speaker 5: number nine hasn't even been around that long.
- 27:59Speaker 3: It's not iconic.
- 28:00Speaker 5: I've never won anything there wise that iconic because guys
- 28:02Speaker 5: can hit homers, and that's like the top ten like
- 28:05Speaker 5: right now, because you would go you could go way
- 28:07Speaker 5: back and do like Polo Grounds and Ebitts Field and
- 28:10Speaker 5: stuff like that.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Way before you would list course field.
- 28:13Speaker 1: It's iconic because they can be so bad and people
- 28:16Speaker 1: still show up. It is a fun experience. But I
- 28:18Speaker 1: get what you're saying. Iconic is not the word. Yeah,
- 28:20Speaker 1: like unique, unique, yeah, mile high, whatever you want to
- 28:27Speaker 1: call it, all right on our way out here. Yeah,
- 28:29Speaker 1: drop a comment if we're missing something or you want
- 28:31Speaker 1: to shout at ballpark out
