- 0:18Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Pandemonium, the pop culture game show
- 0:22Speaker 1: that shines a spotlights onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your
- 0:25Speaker 1: games master, and the person sat next to you singing
- 0:28Speaker 1: along to the show you paid two hundred dollars to
- 0:30Speaker 1: watch Matt Watson. Absolutely shameful behavior.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I've never actually been angry at a villain that you've
- 0:37Speaker 2: portrayed yourself.
- 0:39Speaker 3: And it's like tonight. It's different tonight that hits too
- 0:43Speaker 3: a little too close to home.
- 0:45Speaker 1: It's so annoying, but I'm doing it, but a games
- 0:48Speaker 1: master that needs games and games need players, so please welcome. First,
- 0:51Speaker 1: she is our evergreen panelist, a podcaster and comedian who
- 0:55Speaker 1: works in STEM, which today stands for show Tunes for Everyone, Mate,
- 1:00Speaker 1: Chris Stevenson.
- 1:01Speaker 4: That's me, show Tunes.
- 1:03Speaker 1: For us, show Tunes for all. And she is an actor,
- 1:08Speaker 1: voice artist, and podcaster. She's our leading lady, well understudy
- 1:12Speaker 1: turned leading lady, but you'll never link her to the attack.
- 1:15Speaker 1: It's Caroline or Huela.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yeah, and we're not going to talk about who I'm
- 1:20Speaker 3: understudying today.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Thanks for having me. Yes, great to see you again, Caroline,
- 1:27Speaker 1: Thanks for being here. How are you both doing Audro
- 1:30Speaker 1: Caroline Live.
- 1:30Speaker 4: In the Dream.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I wrote my passing Knowledge today. I forgot about it
- 1:35Speaker 2: until last night. So this episode did give me those
- 1:37Speaker 2: like old musical nightmares where it's like, oh, no, you
- 1:40Speaker 2: didn't do your lines right right. I've never been more
- 1:46Speaker 2: prepared in that regard.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yes, nice, and that's.
- 1:49Speaker 3: What the best shows happen when you're so underprepared and
- 1:54Speaker 3: then magic happens.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So it occurs fingers crossed. This show relies so much
- 1:59Speaker 1: on that. How are you doing, Caroline, I'm doing well.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I'm a little sleepy.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I've been recording an audiobook which is so fun but
- 2:08Speaker 3: so much work, which is yeah, so time tired, but.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I'm excited to be here. Yes, you're having me And
- 2:14Speaker 1: I love musicals.
- 2:15Speaker 3: It's like what Sarah says is my guilty pleasure at
- 2:18Speaker 3: my bachelorette party game that she made. She was like,
- 2:22Speaker 3: what's Caroline's guilty pleasure? She was like, I guess musicals,
- 2:26Speaker 3: But I don't really believe in guilty pleasures. I just
- 2:28Speaker 3: love them so nice.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I was going to ask, is it a guilty pleasure
- 2:31Speaker 1: for you? But you just straight up love musicals. They've
- 2:33Speaker 1: been a part of your life. I do as long
- 2:35Speaker 1: as you can remember, you know.
- 2:36Speaker 3: And some of my friends I went to college with
- 2:38Speaker 3: because I was a musical theater major.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Actually they might be like.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Oh no, Caroline, you fall into the wayside, But it's
- 2:47Speaker 3: always been part of me, so nice. Not gonna deny it.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Hell yeah, I got my BFA for this.
- 2:57Speaker 1: This is what I'm in student dead for. Right now,
- 2:59Speaker 1: let's go, honey, well spent. This is where it is.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I went into debt so that you could call me
- 3:04Speaker 2: a woman in stem at the beginning of every podcast.
- 3:07Speaker 2: It's not even as good as to win. It's just
- 3:11Speaker 2: for the Byeline. I did all of that just for
- 3:14Speaker 2: the Byeline.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Dream Team beautiful, And so your musical's knowledge is middling, middling, lovely.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I've seen some musicals. I've been in some musicals.
- 3:25Speaker 1: What are they? She'll never tell, maybe.
- 3:29Speaker 4: At a slightly later time in the episode.
- 3:32Speaker 1: All right, then we will move on and introduce your opponents.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Because a duo is entering to slightly more antagonistic music,
- 3:40Speaker 1: so the audience makes assumptions that drive the narrative. So
- 3:43Speaker 1: let's meet them. And already one of them is clicking
- 3:46Speaker 1: and snapping. This is excellent.
- 3:49Speaker 5: I'm trying to not do it into the mic, but
- 3:50Speaker 5: I did get one or two and they're so sorry
- 3:53Speaker 5: audio listeners, Joe, I'm leaving it all in Yeah right,
- 3:56Speaker 5: it's all in the arms. Sorry.
- 3:59Speaker 1: He is a music a resident cast member, and about
- 4:02Speaker 1: to help with the production of our regular live shows,
- 4:04Speaker 1: for which I'm eternally grateful. It's the leading man because
- 4:08Speaker 1: he's the only man on the panel.
- 4:09Speaker 5: It's Chris Reagan. I'm here, Chris seeing tunes in show.
- 4:17Speaker 5: I don't know something and I'm all out of tunes.
- 4:26Speaker 5: A lot to look forward to and the rest of that.
- 4:28Speaker 5: Whatever that quote is, Yeah, exactly exactly. We're here for
- 4:32Speaker 5: whole Amen.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And she this one's already gone off the rails. She
- 4:40Speaker 1: is an improviser, a comedy educator, and a musical improviser.
- 4:43Speaker 1: A tune titan, which means she starred in more musicals
- 4:47Speaker 1: than Audra McDonald, but they each ran for just one night,
- 4:50Speaker 1: so not quite the same. It's Julia BOSEI.
- 4:53Speaker 6: I can't believe you just said something about me and
- 4:55Speaker 6: Andre McDonald.
- 4:58Speaker 1: That's absolutely wild. Hello, you've technically starred in more music.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I hate she can't hear this, she can't know. We
- 5:07Speaker 1: won't send it to good.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I have some great news. She does not listen to podcast.
- 5:14Speaker 2: She's a patron, not since the event.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Oh, welcome, Chris, welcome Julia. How are you both doing?
- 5:23Speaker 5: Doing good? Doing good? Ready to sing?
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yes, I'm very much looking forward to you coming up
- 5:30Speaker 1: later on. We have our first singing game in the
- 5:33Speaker 1: history of this podcast. It's something that I've wanted to
- 5:35Speaker 1: do for a while, but we haven't really had the
- 5:37Speaker 1: right arena or the right group of people. I think
- 5:40Speaker 1: this is the right group of people for that.
- 5:42Speaker 6: I don't know why I'm more scared to do this
- 5:44Speaker 6: than sing in front of a huge thing of audience.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Well, that's actually more normal because then you get the
- 5:51Speaker 1: positive feedback of either laughter or applause. Is just doing
- 5:55Speaker 1: it like pandemic style, straight into a webcam?
- 5:59Speaker 5: Yep, that's how real art is made, pandemics.
- 6:03Speaker 6: I've never done a self tape, but I imagine this
- 6:06Speaker 6: is what it would feel like.
- 6:07Speaker 1: It's very vulnerable and cold.
- 6:12Speaker 4: What's happening?
- 6:13Speaker 1: Well, I'm not gonna make you do any self tapes, Julia,
- 6:16Speaker 1: But are you You're a fan of musicals? I am.
- 6:19Speaker 6: I feel like I grew up going to like Lion
- 6:22Speaker 6: King and cats and whatever.
- 6:24Speaker 1: People brought their children to Cathal did my mom just
- 6:29Speaker 1: me to cat Ones?
- 6:31Speaker 6: And then eventually I went outside the caterina and I
- 6:35Speaker 6: got to see like a fan of the opera and Wicked.
- 6:37Speaker 6: But I think it's my foray into musicals is kind
- 6:41Speaker 6: of small, like I've only seen some and I haven't
- 6:45Speaker 6: gotten into like some cool ones that I would like
- 6:48Speaker 6: to see.
- 6:49Speaker 1: But yeah, I love them. That's that's good. That's all
- 6:52Speaker 1: you need to just need the passion. But let's see
- 6:55Speaker 1: if your teammate has a bit more knowledge of christ musicals.
- 6:57Speaker 1: You're a fan.
- 6:58Speaker 5: Yeah you have. I'm a big fan of musicals, been
- 7:02Speaker 5: in a lot of them, been to both Broadway and
- 7:04Speaker 5: West End for shows. However, I do feel, yeah, I
- 7:09Speaker 5: know I'm stuff fan. However, I do still feel like
- 7:13Speaker 5: I'm just like I've experienced all these things, but I'm
- 7:17Speaker 5: lacking in knowledge. Maybe that's just my imposter syndrome. Maybe
- 7:20Speaker 5: I've always just felt like an imposter being a big
- 7:23Speaker 5: straight dude in the theater A little bit. Maybe, But
- 7:28Speaker 5: it's all good because I love the theater and I
- 7:29Speaker 5: love musicals, and yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Yeah that is beautiful. It is really important until we
- 7:35Speaker 1: achieve a quality. There are spaces where big straight dudes
- 7:38Speaker 1: do feel uncomfortable. I think exactly exactly that you felt
- 7:41Speaker 1: uncomfortable in the theater right there.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Yeah, you're doing a service.
- 7:44Speaker 5: This is my ted talk. My life is so hard kidding. Oh,
- 7:51Speaker 5: totally kidding, guys, joking.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Thank you for your service.
- 7:56Speaker 5: All right, I'm happy to be here.
- 7:59Speaker 1: You will make a great team. This is a lovely
- 8:01Speaker 1: group of people. I think we're going to have some
- 8:03Speaker 1: friendly competition. I don't I don't think it's gonna get
- 8:06Speaker 1: too competitive here. Oh, but the snapping has begun. Shocks
- 8:10Speaker 1: and jets, shocks and jets. All right. Oh, before we continue,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'd like to officially welcome Julia to the gate Leapers cast.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Whoo that's me. I'm so excited so we can say
- 8:24Speaker 1: this is a cast recording as well. Musical, very musical.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I was supposed to have this little thing of wine
- 8:30Speaker 2: under the desk so that it could be a reveal,
- 8:32Speaker 2: but I'm sitting at the desk the entire time.
- 8:37Speaker 4: You do not have to drink them.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I do want to want to peer pressure any alcohol
- 8:43Speaker 2: nice I will.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I'll just pour this one on the webcam.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Appreciate it.
- 8:49Speaker 6: Guess, little little litaslings, that's a really a cut candy.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I'll see if it helps soothe my throat or if
- 8:58Speaker 1: it makes it be.
- 9:00Speaker 4: It was will find out.
- 9:02Speaker 5: But if you drink enough of it, you won't care.
- 9:05Speaker 1: That's such a good point, Chris, be a pressure, okay
- 9:10Speaker 1: to musicals.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Oh it's tasty, Yeah, it's solid, Yeah it's fairfoot it's
- 9:18Speaker 2: it's the literally the cheapest. That's what the budget allows.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Okay. Teams, As we strolled down the Great White Way
- 9:27Speaker 1: and looking at this lineup, yep, to come up with
- 9:31Speaker 1: a musical themed team name. Please, let's start with Audra
- 9:35Speaker 1: and Caroline? What you got? Did you?
- 9:39Speaker 3: I could come up with something right now, did you anything?
- 9:44Speaker 7: No?
- 9:45Speaker 2: I thought before we hopped on the call, I was like,
- 9:48Speaker 2: oh gosh, I didn't think of any And then I
- 9:51Speaker 2: tried to like get into a thinking space and I
- 9:52Speaker 2: did a little wiggle and I thought musical effornication And
- 9:57Speaker 2: that's as far as I got.
- 9:59Speaker 4: So I don't have anything better?
- 10:01Speaker 3: What about like music, gals?
- 10:04Speaker 1: Musicals?
- 10:06Speaker 8: But we have to go like this like every time
- 10:09Speaker 8: yeals little cats call that.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Like a little what's your favorite music?
- 10:15Speaker 1: Od?
- 10:16Speaker 4: Whichever one I'm listening to most recently.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Is the one that I like the most, and so
- 10:22Speaker 2: Wicked is coming out, and so we could.
- 10:26Speaker 8: Also do like Barbersund like that, like so just yes,
- 10:34Speaker 8: you have to say it like that, Matt.
- 10:36Speaker 1: You have to say it. I went to change into
- 10:43Speaker 1: a different register and I just like I've got I've
- 10:46Speaker 1: got to stay speaking. That is not okay, Well we
- 10:49Speaker 1: can live with music is not anything.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Our first is that anything?
- 10:59Speaker 2: I was trying to come up with some kind of
- 11:01Speaker 2: pun on forty second Street, m.
- 11:04Speaker 3: But I do a music street music with that. Let's
- 11:18Speaker 3: go forward Street.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Lenny Street, full, tweeny Street, I love it? Would it
- 11:23Speaker 1: before it be full twentieth Street, wouldn't it? That's not
- 11:25Speaker 1: as good for twenty Street?
- 11:27Speaker 4: For twenty Street?
- 11:28Speaker 1: I said what I said, all right, so we got
- 11:33Speaker 1: four twenty Street thought of so far in advance is
- 11:36Speaker 1: a team name. Incredible work we've done, just fantastic stuff. Julia, Chris,
- 11:41Speaker 1: Scotty ideas.
- 11:42Speaker 5: And they or may not have completely forgotten about the names.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I was wondering, Oh my god, it's a clean sweep.
- 11:48Speaker 5: I usually write out like six bad ideas, so I'm
- 11:52Speaker 5: prepared and I don't even have a one Right now,
- 11:55Speaker 5: all I can think of is whatever the big number
- 11:57Speaker 5: from rent is, But just all sixteen nines.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Like six hundred ninety six.
- 12:06Speaker 5: Exactly. That's all I can think of.
- 12:08Speaker 1: So many, but there's so many more.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I feel bad that I thought of it now. But
- 12:13Speaker 2: a good team name now, Cabarbets.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Oh, Cabaret Cabet.
- 12:19Speaker 2: It's not good when I said it out loud. When
- 12:21Speaker 2: it hits my mind, it was good. I've had three SIPs.
- 12:26Speaker 5: It could be Rogers and hammer Time. I don't know,
- 12:30Speaker 5: that's awesome.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I like that one. Rogers and hammer Time.
- 12:35Speaker 6: Do you have any I can only think of chicagoas.
- 12:42Speaker 5: Whit Chicago ass, Chicago ass. I really like your spouse,
- 12:48Speaker 5: but Chicago as.
- 12:51Speaker 6: Like we're having a gas. But now I realize it
- 12:53Speaker 6: just sounds like I'm trying to put ass on it.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Oh that's what I thought you were doing. That's why
- 12:59Speaker 5: I was like, hell, yeah, putting as Chicago Christmas on
- 13:02Speaker 5: your level. Yeah.
- 13:05Speaker 4: I do really like.
- 13:06Speaker 2: The idea of four twenty Street versus Rogerson hammer Time.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I really like Rogers and hammer Time. I think Roagers
- 13:13Speaker 1: and hammer Time. Okay, that's so good. Well, it's fantastic.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Best name I ever came up with and uh, it's
- 13:19Speaker 5: the first time I didn't put thought in before time.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Damn I should I should come more often, I guess.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Yeah, do improv? Yeah, that's the magic of improv. Just shit?
- 13:30Speaker 1: Is anything?
- 13:31Speaker 5: Is this how we get signed up? Wait? Are we
- 13:34Speaker 5: even doing a podcast right now? Were you guys just
- 13:36Speaker 5: trying to get Caroline and me to sign up for? Yeah?
- 13:40Speaker 1: This is just an audition.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Hi, is any improv theater?
- 13:43Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 13:43Speaker 5: Your instructor, Julia, The walls fall behind you, and it's
- 13:47Speaker 5: an audience.
- 13:49Speaker 1: So we have four twenty Street versus Rogers and hammer Time.
- 13:53Speaker 1: All right, And if you're listening to this and thinking
- 13:56Speaker 1: I don't know my Maria west Side story from my
- 13:59Speaker 1: Maria sound of music, don't worry, his Ordra with a
- 14:02Speaker 1: little segment we like to call passing knowledge.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Musical theater, or more commonly, musicals balance songs, dialogue, and
- 14:11Speaker 2: dance in an elaborate stage performance. Even more impressively, they
- 14:16Speaker 2: balance being both incredibly fun and deeply uncool. Google tells
- 14:21Speaker 2: me that musicals in our recognizable modern sense date back
- 14:25Speaker 2: to about the eighteen hundreds, But that cannot be true
- 14:28Speaker 2: because Oklahoma came out in like nineteen forty three, and
- 14:33Speaker 2: surely that's gotta be the oldest one. Next time, I'll
- 14:37Speaker 2: remember to add minus ai to my search for slightly
- 14:40Speaker 2: better results. The peak of musical accomplishment is winning an
- 14:43Speaker 2: award at the Tonys, just like Wicked Hamilton or West
- 14:47Speaker 2: Side Story. But even better than that is any musical
- 14:51Speaker 2: that is too woke for my uncle Tony, just like
- 14:54Speaker 2: Wicked Hamilton or Billy Elliott. Musicals are universe beloved. You'll
- 15:01Speaker 2: find them in the quaintest of high schools all the
- 15:03Speaker 2: way up to the Broadway or West End, all the
- 15:05Speaker 2: way up to Broadway.
- 15:06Speaker 1: The Broadway. It's the Broadway now, it's the Broadway now.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Many popular musicals have been made into films also, like
- 15:14Speaker 2: Into the Woods, Cinderella, Cats, and you know other musicals
- 15:18Speaker 2: that aren't ruined by the presence of James Corden. Now,
- 15:21Speaker 2: if everybody could gather up, I'd like to run the
- 15:24Speaker 2: Pandemonium number in five six, five.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Six, seven eight. Yes, thank you, Odra. The reasonings hitting
- 15:31Speaker 1: it's hidden, Oh boy, it's hidden. Fantastic stuff. All right.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Before we get to today's games, I've asked each player
- 15:37Speaker 1: to bring in a muse, something that inspires them or
- 15:40Speaker 1: something they love from this particular fandom. Musicals are inspiring
- 15:44Speaker 1: to me because without their existence, podcasting would be the
- 15:47Speaker 1: cringiest form of entertainment. So thank you, Julia. Now musicals
- 15:55Speaker 1: are way better than podcasts. Julia will start with you.
- 15:58Speaker 1: What's inspiring you from world of musicals?
- 16:01Speaker 6: To prepare at least like mentally like trying to get
- 16:05Speaker 6: because I want the improvised musicals to like not necessarily
- 16:09Speaker 6: like sound like pop songs like I want to like
- 16:12Speaker 6: I want to be inspired by musicals that I can
- 16:14Speaker 6: have the musicality like them.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Don't know if it actually works it does, but well good.
- 16:19Speaker 6: I will watch musicals like the day of the performance
- 16:23Speaker 6: while I do work. And so one of the ones
- 16:28Speaker 6: I watched recently was Sound of Music and just like
- 16:31Speaker 6: I've forgotten how much I love How do you solve
- 16:34Speaker 6: a problem?
- 16:35Speaker 5: Like Maria?
- 16:36Speaker 6: And I have confidence in those songs, but like also
- 16:40Speaker 6: just like watching it for the first time in many years,
- 16:44Speaker 6: like oh Maria, like she's just neuro diverse, Like you
- 16:49Speaker 6: can't solve a problem like Maria, Like she's fine.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Don't worry about her. Maria's good. What she's doing you
- 16:57Speaker 2: need to fix your attitude. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so it was.
- 17:01Speaker 2: It was good to see myself represented in Maria.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I love that. I love that so much. It's such
- 17:06Speaker 1: a classic musical. I feel like it's I've not seen
- 17:09Speaker 1: it in you as either, but I feel like it
- 17:10Speaker 1: must hold up. I think it does.
- 17:12Speaker 6: It's like anti nazis exactly the fact. Yeah, that's good.
- 17:16Speaker 6: It's pretty solid in terms of like a villain, Yes.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Relevant, hopefully timeless.
- 17:23Speaker 4: I mean, I hope it ages.
- 17:26Speaker 2: I hope there is a time in which a Nazi
- 17:29Speaker 2: says a villain isn't a modern problem?
- 17:32Speaker 1: Oh, I know, only dream, only dream. All right, Okay,
- 17:37Speaker 1: thank you so much, Julia. Very inspiring stuff. Let's move
- 17:40Speaker 1: on over to your teammates on Rudgers and hammer time.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Christ what's inspiring you about musicals?
- 17:47Speaker 5: So this was the reason I was fully distracted from
- 17:50Speaker 5: thinking of names beforehand, because I was just thinking about
- 17:53Speaker 5: my news. Because I went on a deep, deep Facebook
- 17:57Speaker 5: like history spiral yesterday everything, okay, absolutely, Because it was
- 18:07Speaker 5: this Facebook page of this like secret theater group that
- 18:11Speaker 5: we had at my university. It's called so so my mused,
- 18:16Speaker 5: and I don't think it exists anymore. So I don't
- 18:18Speaker 5: think anybody could get mad at me for talking about it,
- 18:21Speaker 5: but it's called We're called the Idapoos, theconoclasts. And we
- 18:26Speaker 5: had like a whole thing like lore fucking like like
- 18:30Speaker 5: the old theater had burned down, so we had like
- 18:32Speaker 5: lore about a ghost starting the fire and that there
- 18:35Speaker 5: was like a bad ghost that lived in the rafters.
- 18:38Speaker 5: Because if you've ever been in a theater at night
- 18:40Speaker 5: when it's when nobody else is there, it it's haunted.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Whatever it is, it's haunted. So we just like had
- 18:45Speaker 5: a whole bunch of lore and this really silly shit,
- 18:48Speaker 5: and but it was great because we would like like
- 18:51Speaker 5: once a year, we would we would all gather. We'd
- 18:53Speaker 5: have to say a password to get into the pit
- 18:55Speaker 5: that was covered by the stage. We just like remove
- 18:58Speaker 5: part of the stage to get down into the pit
- 19:00Speaker 5: and then have like candles and tell like stories of
- 19:03Speaker 5: when somebody mentioned the Scottish play and a horrible thing happened.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Like literally one of the things that happened was I
- 19:11Speaker 5: was like pulling up one of the uh, some of
- 19:14Speaker 5: the rigging, and it broke like within five minutes of
- 19:17Speaker 5: somebody naming the Scottish play. Whoa like a twenty foot
- 19:21Speaker 5: like metal piece of rigging just like landed on the stage.
- 19:26Speaker 5: Thankfully nobody was there because it straight up would have
- 19:28Speaker 5: killed somebody.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Genuinely dangerous.
- 19:31Speaker 5: Yeah, like straight up like it broke a bunch of stuff.
- 19:32Speaker 5: But so we just like had a bunch of stories
- 19:34Speaker 5: like that and we would it was just like so
- 19:37Speaker 5: weird and so theater kid and we had lore masters,
- 19:41Speaker 5: and yeah, I don't think it insists anymore because every haus,
- 19:43Speaker 5: like after I feel like after my class, every class
- 19:47Speaker 5: after us was like, this is fucking dumb. Whatever, guys,
- 19:55Speaker 5: we're just trying to have fun. Idiots.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Sounds so fun.
- 19:59Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, So so that's so Theafuzikon is my is
- 20:03Speaker 5: my music.
- 20:05Speaker 1: The secret society that is no longer secrets? Where did
- 20:08Speaker 1: you go to university?
- 20:11Speaker 5: So Odra and I went to the same university. I'm
- 20:14Speaker 5: calling you up.
- 20:17Speaker 1: You got me.
- 20:18Speaker 5: It's called evangel University. It's a very small Christian college
- 20:21Speaker 5: out in Missouri.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Okay. I thought what you were going to say, something
- 20:24Speaker 1: Idaho related?
- 20:26Speaker 5: No, no, started that's fair that Yeah, that was very small.
- 20:32Speaker 5: So so you could imagine why a group of theater
- 20:36Speaker 5: kids want like their own kind of space to not
- 20:39Speaker 5: be around everybody and have their own little secret society
- 20:42Speaker 5: in a in a school like that.
- 20:45Speaker 1: So it's cute, it's adorable, it's it's great, And thank
- 20:49Speaker 1: you while you were saying the anecdote for not actually
- 20:51Speaker 1: saying Macbeth like that's gay?
- 20:54Speaker 4: How dare you?
- 20:55Speaker 5: It's the fucking theater episode, Matt.
- 20:58Speaker 1: But we're not in it there.
- 21:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that's fine, but we are and I
- 21:02Speaker 6: mean it might be a theater. So you have to
- 21:04Speaker 6: run around your townhouse naked a couple of times.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Oh that's the rule.
- 21:09Speaker 5: To break it, y'all are the ones that are, you know,
- 21:13Speaker 5: currently doing stuff on a stage. So this one's on you, man,
- 21:17Speaker 5: that's all I'm saying.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I i' it's it is on me. If something happens
- 21:22Speaker 1: technologically or with rigging, then yeah, then it's on me.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Well know what did it?
- 21:28Speaker 1: Yeah that's my mistake? All right, Thank you, Christ. Very inspiring.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Let's move on over to four twenty Street. Yeah, play Caroline.
- 21:39Speaker 1: What's inspiring you from the world of musicals? Ah?
- 21:42Speaker 3: I think about musicals all the time. But the thing
- 21:46Speaker 3: that I use musicals for in my day to day
- 21:49Speaker 3: life most often, and this is a like creative technique
- 21:53Speaker 3: that one of my voice over mentors taught me that
- 21:57Speaker 3: to make like a hype playlist of music that you
- 22:01Speaker 3: listen to from the ages of like nine to fourteen,
- 22:05Speaker 3: because scientifically, that's the year that the years that your
- 22:08Speaker 3: brain associates with like positive, feeling good, you know, things
- 22:14Speaker 3: that make you feel creative. And pretty much like all
- 22:20Speaker 3: of the music that I listen to in that period
- 22:23Speaker 3: of time was musical theater. And so I've got like
- 22:27Speaker 3: I've got like your wickeds on there, your legally blondes,
- 22:30Speaker 3: your Fiddler on the roofs, you're my fair ladies. I've
- 22:33Speaker 3: got like everything that I listen to, and so like
- 22:36Speaker 3: every day before I go in the booth to audition,
- 22:40Speaker 3: I put in my headphones and I jam for like
- 22:42Speaker 3: ten minutes and like dance to myself like I used
- 22:45Speaker 3: to when I was a kid in my room and
- 22:47Speaker 3: like accurate and everything to get my body just like
- 22:49Speaker 3: in that space of just like fun and play and
- 22:52Speaker 3: not being like taking it too serious.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Incredible. Yeah, So that's mine.
- 22:59Speaker 3: I mean, that's that's like just that's a daily routine thing,
- 23:03Speaker 3: and I am grateful to be able to revisit that
- 23:06Speaker 3: time in my life and it's like one hundred songs.
- 23:09Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, I saw the whole thing.
- 23:11Speaker 3: I just shuffle it through so nothing gets old. But yeah, yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 3: so that's my muse. Yeah, and I'm grateful.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Yeah, very beautiful. As someone who also utilizes hyper playlists,
- 23:23Speaker 1: I support this. This is fantastic. That's a super interesting theory,
- 23:27Speaker 1: the idea that it's between the ages of nine and fourteen,
- 23:29Speaker 1: and so try and tap into that mindset. Yeah, I
- 23:33Speaker 1: might have to put that into some kind of practice.
- 23:35Speaker 1: You try.
- 23:36Speaker 3: That shit really works for me at least, so.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I'll give it a try. Very inspiring stuff. You've inspired
- 23:42Speaker 1: me to take action. Ye Now, oh my gosh, okay, Audra,
- 23:48Speaker 1: are you on four twenty Street?
- 23:49Speaker 4: I am on four twenty Street.
- 23:51Speaker 1: You're ready for your muse?
- 23:52Speaker 2: Oh not currently I am on that team, but I'm
- 23:54Speaker 2: not currently located on.
- 23:57Speaker 4: On four twenty Street.
- 23:59Speaker 2: This episode has inspired me to think about the musicals
- 24:02Speaker 2: I was in in high school, and I just wanted
- 24:05Speaker 2: to go through like the casting of those musicals. So
- 24:09Speaker 2: my freshman year, I auditioned for the lead and Bye
- 24:12Speaker 2: Bye Birdie. I auditioned for Kim McAfee and I got
- 24:18Speaker 2: understudy as a freshman.
- 24:21Speaker 10: Kim.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Fresh that's pretty cool. Yeah. And then sophomore year we
- 24:28Speaker 1: did Lil Abner. Wow, I do. Yeah.
- 24:33Speaker 2: My musical director was weird. My muse was going to
- 24:35Speaker 2: be shitting on her, and I decided not to you.
- 24:39Speaker 2: But I auditioned for Daisy May and I got understudy.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Junior year, seven Brides for seven brothers. There are technically
- 24:51Speaker 2: seven female leads. I auditioned for the main one and
- 24:54Speaker 2: I got understudy, and I was also one of the
- 24:58Speaker 2: seven brides. There's there's seven okay, yeah, like there's one
- 25:01Speaker 2: main ones and then there's seven women who are also present.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Six women.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Just wait, there's probably another woman.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I was not Dorcas, damn. I was Ruth, solid, solid thing.
- 25:17Speaker 2: If you can't be you got to be Ruth. Yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Dodged the bullet there. And then my senior year, forty
- 25:26Speaker 2: second Street, there's two female leads, so I auditioned for
- 25:30Speaker 2: both roles. Can we get a drum rolls?
- 25:34Speaker 1: Okay? Okay?
- 25:35Speaker 2: So can we can everyone imagine a drum roll? I
- 25:39Speaker 2: got understudy for both for both.
- 25:45Speaker 1: That is crazy.
- 25:47Speaker 2: I held the role of understudy four years in a row, always.
- 25:52Speaker 1: The understudy, never TheRide.
- 25:57Speaker 5: I think it's more impressive to be the understudy to
- 25:59Speaker 5: to one of the leads yourself. That's way difficult. So
- 26:04Speaker 5: when you're in.
- 26:05Speaker 3: High school, that shit sucked. It's true you're like the
- 26:09Speaker 3: understudy because I was me too, Audra. I was in
- 26:11Speaker 3: that boat until my senior year. I was an understudy
- 26:15Speaker 3: every year and it sucked. I was like, why are
- 26:17Speaker 3: all my friends getting parts? And I'm just living.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it would really suck if the people
- 26:23Speaker 2: who got the leads weren't genuinely quite kind and nice
- 26:27Speaker 2: and good friends. I was like, yeah, I couldn't even
- 26:31Speaker 2: like hate on them. I couldn't even be bad and
- 26:33Speaker 2: be like, no, she's genuinely so kind and she's also
- 26:37Speaker 2: really good.
- 26:38Speaker 4: God damn it.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Whatever the character role in every musical was, I was
- 26:45Speaker 2: the understudy, and that role so the churchiest girl you
- 26:51Speaker 2: ever met was playing Anytime Annie in forty second Street.
- 26:58Speaker 1: And that might have been the joke for the parents.
- 27:00Speaker 2: The audience genuinely probably was can look at this virgin?
- 27:09Speaker 1: Oh that's tragic, But also thank you for sharing. It's wonderful.
- 27:13Speaker 4: It's gonna push me forward today.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, And with that, I'm feeling so inspired by
- 27:20Speaker 1: everyone's muses. Are we already for some games? Yes, all right,
- 27:24Speaker 1: let's do it right, teams. It's finally here. It's opening night.
- 27:27Speaker 1: So let's raise the curtain and start our opening number,
- 27:30Speaker 1: which just so happens to be.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Called round one.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Round one is our classic game of deliberation, elimination, and
- 27:41Speaker 1: deception that this time we're calling broad No way, man,
- 27:44Speaker 1: that's not true. I will name a category and then,
- 27:48Speaker 1: in turns give our teams a list of five things
- 27:50Speaker 1: supposedly from that category. The trick is that only three
- 27:54Speaker 1: of them are true and two are false. Little razzle
- 27:57Speaker 1: dazzle to distract you from the correct answers. Teams will
- 28:00Speaker 1: discuss and select correct answers one by one, but choose
- 28:03Speaker 1: an incorrect answer and you'll be frozen out of the list,
- 28:06Speaker 1: like Frozen the Broadway musical also musical Wow. So our
- 28:13Speaker 1: first category is musicals, just titles of musicals that won
- 28:17Speaker 1: the Tony Award for Best Musical in the History of Musicals?
- 28:22Speaker 1: Were these A big old musical? The Big And So
- 28:28Speaker 1: we're going to start with a list for four twenty Street.
- 28:31Speaker 1: There is your list of five kinky boots, criss cross
- 28:34Speaker 1: Apple Sauce, Hallelujah Baby, the Pajama Game, and the Shawshank Redemption.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Okay, So are we supposed to pick the ones that
- 28:46Speaker 3: are true first?
- 28:48Speaker 5: Yes?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Okay, select correct answers.
- 28:50Speaker 4: It won a Tony, do you know what?
- 28:52Speaker 1: Let's let's say at least nominated in case definitely on
- 28:56Speaker 1: the wiki Wikipedia page for Best Musical in the Tony Award.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Okay, nominated, yes, okay, Okay.
- 29:04Speaker 4: So I'm thinking Kinky Boots.
- 29:06Speaker 3: That one is real, that one's it did win, gotcha?
- 29:10Speaker 3: So that we can just lock that in and yeah,
- 29:12Speaker 3: that's that one's in for sure.
- 29:13Speaker 1: There you go, you got a point. Boots is reel incredible.
- 29:17Speaker 3: I also know good that the Pajama Game is a
- 29:21Speaker 3: real musical wonderful, and I've never heard of any of
- 29:25Speaker 3: the other ones, so I think maybe it would be
- 29:28Speaker 3: safe to lock that one in a shwell.
- 29:30Speaker 4: Yes, let's go, let's go for a Pajama game.
- 29:33Speaker 1: You're going for the Pajama Game that is indeed a musical, Yes,
- 29:36Speaker 1: and it was indeed at least nominated for Best Musical.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Can you read us the remaining three one more time?
- 29:43Speaker 1: I absolutely can you have crisscross Apple Sauce? I said
- 29:47Speaker 1: it like an American because I assume that's how how
- 29:50Speaker 1: would you say it as a British person? Apple Sauce
- 29:53Speaker 1: Sauce Sauce, Crisscross Apple Sauce, Hallelujah Baby, and the Shoal
- 30:00Speaker 1: Shank Redemption, just.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Throwing in Shawshank redemption. If that wasn't a musical, great
- 30:06Speaker 2: pick for a wild card because I can't.
- 30:09Speaker 4: Put it out of my mind.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Well, it's a movie, yeah, And the question is did
- 30:14Speaker 3: they make a musical based on the movie?
- 30:16Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 30:17Speaker 4: Did they take it and just go like, hey, let's
- 30:19Speaker 4: put songs.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Here's the thing about that. I feel like if it
- 30:24Speaker 3: was a musical, I would know about it because I
- 30:28Speaker 3: was obsessed with that movie as.
- 30:29Speaker 4: A child, so you probably would.
- 30:32Speaker 1: But I don't know.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Maybe it was like a show that ran for like
- 30:36Speaker 3: fifty shows and then got taken off Broadway.
- 30:39Speaker 1: M hmm. I don't know. But then would it have
- 30:41Speaker 1: won or been nominated?
- 30:43Speaker 4: Like would it have been nominated?
- 30:45Speaker 1: Oh?
- 30:45Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, and not have like would have like
- 30:49Speaker 2: gone for fifty shows and then gone away and still
- 30:52Speaker 2: be nominated.
- 30:53Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 30:54Speaker 1: And the other ones are Hallelujah Baby, Hallelujah Baby, and
- 30:58Speaker 1: Chriss Cross Apples that sounds real.
- 31:02Speaker 4: My second choice would be hollow baby.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Odra, what do you want to do? Do we want
- 31:07Speaker 3: to take a stab at Shawshank Redemption? Hoping that it
- 31:10Speaker 3: was a musical once I think so.
- 31:13Speaker 4: It was stuck in both of our heads.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Let's let's do it.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Let's do Shashank Redemption.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Yeah, let's lock in Shawshank Redemption.
- 31:19Speaker 1: All right, you're going with Shawshank Redemption. It wasn't a
- 31:23Speaker 1: Tony Award winning musical, however, there was an attempt at
- 31:26Speaker 1: it off Broadway. Really, it's really weird turning such a
- 31:30Speaker 1: serious story into a musical, but they gave it a go.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Yeah hmm, they did it successfully with the color purple.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Don't sleep on it. It can happen.
- 31:38Speaker 1: That's fair. Fair. It's a medium inform that can actually
- 31:43Speaker 1: handle some difficult subjects because it's so over the top.
- 31:46Speaker 5: Uh huh.
- 31:46Speaker 1: You can have big feelings. But sorry, no point there.
- 31:49Speaker 1: But you got two points, two points out of three. Yeah,
- 31:51Speaker 1: that's a good run at the list.
- 31:53Speaker 4: That sounds great.
- 31:54Speaker 1: All right, let's have a list four Rogers and hammer time.
- 31:58Speaker 1: There is your list of five Fiddler on the Roof,
- 32:02Speaker 1: Kiss of the Spider Woman. When Betty got Back, maybe
- 32:07Speaker 1: Happy Ending and Rivendell Hoe.
- 32:10Speaker 6: Okay, definitely a Fiddler on the Roof yep, and we
- 32:15Speaker 6: lock that in.
- 32:16Speaker 1: You can. Indeed, Fidder on the Roof is indeed correct
- 32:19Speaker 1: a classic, Matt.
- 32:20Speaker 5: Is this some kind of gotcha putting a Rivendell Hoe
- 32:23Speaker 5: in there?
- 32:24Speaker 1: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 32:27Speaker 5: Rivendell's Lord of the Rings, Chriss. What were the other ones?
- 32:35Speaker 5: I can only think of the River.
- 32:37Speaker 6: Kiss of the Spider Woman, and then I don't know
- 32:40Speaker 6: the other two because I know Kiss of the Spider
- 32:41Speaker 6: Woman is about to have a movie come out with Jennifer.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Lopez, I believe and Joe.
- 32:48Speaker 6: Yeah, so it seems it does have it seems a musical,
- 32:53Speaker 6: and so I think that it is a musical.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Yeah, when Betty got Back and maybe Happy Ending either.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Do any of those ring bells for you? Chris?
- 33:06Speaker 5: Straight up? No, I think let's let's do what was
- 33:14Speaker 5: the first one, the Spider Woman, Kiss of the Spider Woman.
- 33:16Speaker 5: Let's lock that one down because that sounds likely you.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Kiss of the Spider Woman. Yeah, yeah, that's that is correct. Okay, yes,
- 33:25Speaker 1: thank you.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Julia.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Is there usually like a three?
- 33:27Speaker 6: Like how many are there like, do we know how
- 33:30Speaker 6: many are correct out of the whole thing? Yes, there
- 33:32Speaker 6: was just one correct answer that's left to fine. Okay,
- 33:35Speaker 6: I think it's definitely happy. Maybe is that what it's
- 33:37Speaker 6: called or something like that.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's definitely happy. Maybe let's let's see it. Yeah,
- 33:41Speaker 1: maybe happy ending? Maybe happy ending? Yes, that's it. I think.
- 33:45Speaker 1: So that sounds good to be that in Chris, Can
- 33:48Speaker 1: I not tempt you with Revendel hoe? Wouldn't that be
- 33:50Speaker 1: such a fun.
- 33:54Speaker 5: You're not going to get me?
- 33:56Speaker 6: I was thinking it's like a brigadoone type with the
- 34:00Speaker 6: elves of Rivendell.
- 34:01Speaker 5: Yeah, Oh my god? Is that that? Would that be
- 34:04Speaker 5: the perfect musical? Ever? Oh my god?
- 34:07Speaker 4: Are we doing this?
- 34:10Speaker 11: No?
- 34:10Speaker 1: The one that Julius said may be happy ending? Yeah, yeah,
- 34:14Speaker 1: it is a recent musical. It is absolutely correct. Three
- 34:16Speaker 1: for three. The Spider Woman sounded like a Marvel movie.
- 34:23Speaker 6: It does, doesn't it. But I think that's just because
- 34:25Speaker 6: of that. What was that really bad one?
- 34:28Speaker 1: Madam?
- 34:29Speaker 5: Madam?
- 34:31Speaker 1: The entire Yeah, God, I love hate.
- 34:33Speaker 5: I'm just assuming it's that, but a musical.
- 34:36Speaker 1: It doesn't appear to be that.
- 34:38Speaker 6: But can't tell you more than that. Based on the trailer,
- 34:41Speaker 6: it does not seem like.
- 34:42Speaker 1: It's Madam Web.
- 34:43Speaker 5: I guess we'll just have to see what Jala brings us. Yeah,
- 34:45Speaker 5: we'll find out.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Stay tuned. This is not a sponsored episode. All right,
- 34:50Speaker 1: new category. Congratulations there you got three out three very
- 34:52Speaker 1: good stuff. New category this time Tony Award winning actors again,
- 35:02Speaker 1: it's probably nominated, so it's a best actor, best actress,
- 35:05Speaker 1: that kind of thing. So four twenty Street, here is
- 35:08Speaker 1: your list of five names. Paul Chuckle, Angela Lansbury, Phil Silver's,
- 35:15Speaker 1: Samantha Carmichael, and Tony shaloub.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Oh god, okay, well, okay, we can for sure lock
- 35:26Speaker 3: in my sweet sweet Angela Lancebury bestivoo for the resties.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I love her so.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Much, she wrote, but she's definitely.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Yeah for sure lock that in absolutely Lansbury everything Caroline
- 35:42Speaker 1: just said. But I she wrote Pandemonium episode when.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Oh my god, I need to rewatch it.
- 35:47Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah for sure. Could you read the
- 35:53Speaker 1: other names again? Definitely we've got Paul Chuckle, Phil Silver's,
- 35:59Speaker 1: Samantha car Michael, and Tony Shaloube it's chuckle, just singular,
- 36:04Speaker 1: not chuckle chuckle.
- 36:08Speaker 5: I was just a chuckle.
- 36:11Speaker 1: It.
- 36:14Speaker 2: There's a part of me that thinks Tony Shaloub would
- 36:18Speaker 2: be maybe maybe.
- 36:20Speaker 4: He went and did a run?
- 36:22Speaker 11: Right?
- 36:23Speaker 1: Is that a real person?
- 36:25Speaker 4: He plays Monk?
- 36:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Oh he's definitely. He's also the dad and
- 36:30Speaker 1: marvelous missus Maisel. Yes, he must be a good one.
- 36:34Speaker 1: I think that's a great.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Guess because I have never heard any of those other
- 36:38Speaker 2: names in my life.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Samantha Carmichael sounds so familiar to me, But I think
- 36:43Speaker 3: let's go for Tony first.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Going with Tony Shaloub. Yep, Monk did it? Absolutely? This
- 36:49Speaker 1: is a Broadway guy for sure.
- 36:51Speaker 5: What can't mounk? Do you know?
- 36:54Speaker 1: He gives many vibes? I like it? Onnkula is that killer?
- 37:03Speaker 1: It makes no sense that it's un killer, isn't it? Yeah? Well,
- 37:06Speaker 1: how did you say it? I think I said it
- 37:08Speaker 1: sounds the same.
- 37:09Speaker 4: To me I've always.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Said on So I really that's when you picked, Like, Yeah,
- 37:22Speaker 1: you've got three names left on the list, Paul chuckle,
- 37:25Speaker 1: Phil Silver's and Samantha Carmichael, and one of them is real.
- 37:30Speaker 3: I think Samantha Carmichael is real. That name sounds so
- 37:33Speaker 3: familiar to me. But I might eat my words.
- 37:35Speaker 2: I have no idea at this point, So I think
- 37:39Speaker 2: that your instincts are going to be better than mine.
- 37:41Speaker 4: So let's go.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Let's go with that, going with Samantha Carmichael. Yes, that's
- 37:45Speaker 1: just the name I made up, so.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Sorry, it's just it's just so common.
- 37:50Speaker 1: It is Phil Silver's Yes, see the correct answer, Phil
- 37:52Speaker 1: Silver's classic Broadway actor.
- 37:55Speaker 4: I'm okay with that. If it was mister Chuckle I.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Would be a little embarre rest for him for sure.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Yeah, out have been like Paul Chuckle is one half
- 38:05Speaker 1: of the the British children's comedy act the Chuckle Brothers.
- 38:09Speaker 6: Oh yeah, that's the first thing.
- 38:13Speaker 1: So there you go.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Do the Chuckle Brothers have a Tony someone someone looked
- 38:17Speaker 2: that at Tony Chuckle.
- 38:22Speaker 4: The other brother.
- 38:23Speaker 1: All right, good stuff, another two points, another two points,
- 38:26Speaker 1: pretty good, pretty good, solid, Okay. Moving on over to
- 38:28Speaker 1: Rogers and Hammer Time, here's your list of five actors.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Nicole Scherzinger, Dazz Rankin, Judy Holiday, Bethica de Santiago, and
- 38:39Speaker 1: Leslie Audomn Junior. Oh.
- 38:42Speaker 6: I mean yeah, definitely Leslie like lock that in absolutely correct,
- 38:47Speaker 6: well done, okay, and then because yeah, Nicole schur Singer
- 38:52Speaker 6: is like killing it, right, now is.
- 38:54Speaker 5: She on Broadway right now?
- 38:55Speaker 1: Yeah? Oh, ship shouts out pussy cat dolls?
- 38:58Speaker 6: You know?
- 38:58Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 38:59Speaker 1: Right? But okay, so can we lost that in? Yeah,
- 39:01Speaker 1: let's yeah, you can take it, and it's correct. I
- 39:04Speaker 1: was hoping to trip you up with a pussycat doll,
- 39:06Speaker 1: but okay, and then Jody Judy Holiday.
- 39:09Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure unless I'm completely just like wrong like
- 39:13Speaker 6: she was. She's one of my favorite old time actresses,
- 39:16Speaker 6: and she I think originated for roles in some.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Movies on Broadway. What were the other names?
- 39:22Speaker 5: Just so?
- 39:23Speaker 1: The other names were Daz Rankin and Bethica de Santiago.
- 39:27Speaker 5: I don't sorry.
- 39:30Speaker 2: I sorry to any BEA's out there.
- 39:34Speaker 6: Wow, Hey, I think sounds like a bos Lhermann rip off.
- 39:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:44Speaker 1: So okay, we're gonna walk in Judy Holiday. You're going
- 39:48Speaker 1: with Judy Holiday? Yeah, be a second three for three? Yeah, yeah,
- 39:53Speaker 1: it's correct. I didn't count on you being a fan
- 39:55Speaker 1: of Judy Holiday specifically.
- 39:58Speaker 6: Hey, I'm gonna look this up because I think she's
- 39:59Speaker 6: in one one of my favorite old movies called Born Yesterday.
- 40:02Speaker 1: It just seemed it seems like someone was misremembering Billy Holiday.
- 40:05Speaker 1: So I thought that no one will think that's real.
- 40:08Speaker 4: Did you come up with befaca because of bug snacks?
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yes?
- 40:13Speaker 4: How dare you?
- 40:15Speaker 1: That's how dare you? Right? And I was going for
- 40:19Speaker 1: a Barslerman thing with Daz Rankin as well, So well done,
- 40:23Speaker 1: got in your head? Yeah, I'm in your head, Matt.
- 40:26Speaker 1: I regret adding you to the cast. Yes, I know
- 40:30Speaker 1: more about musicals than we thought. All right, well, let's
- 40:33Speaker 1: let's see with this third and final category if I
- 40:36Speaker 1: can finally trip you guys up, because our final category
- 40:39Speaker 1: is musical numbers from meme worthy musicals. Yeah, different musical
- 40:46Speaker 1: each four twenty street. Your musical is Shrek the Music?
- 40:50Speaker 3: Yes, sorry, that was incredible, bright Ny, I thank you
- 40:59Speaker 3: so much.
- 41:00Speaker 1: You're feeling confident about this? Are you a fan of
- 41:02Speaker 1: Shrek the musical? Caroline? I've seen it at least twice.
- 41:06Speaker 1: I think we'll see. We'll see. I get fucking iconic.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Three of these genuine musical numbers. Two of them are
- 41:13Speaker 1: made up, So here we go. My greens turned to
- 41:15Speaker 1: Blue Donkey, Pop Pie, The Ballad of Farquaad, Freak Flag,
- 41:21Speaker 1: and by Night one Way shit.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Okay, Freak Flag is definitely one.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Yeah you're saying, yes, you've not seen.
- 41:31Speaker 2: The closest I've been to Shrek the Musical is when
- 41:34Speaker 2: we were in London and it was on the West
- 41:36Speaker 2: Edge and the London Eye was decked out for Shrek
- 41:40Speaker 2: the music.
- 41:41Speaker 1: That's the closest son.
- 41:44Speaker 4: Closest.
- 41:45Speaker 2: It was just you would get to the London Eye
- 41:47Speaker 2: and it was just like the huge thing that's just
- 41:49Speaker 2: saying get Shreked.
- 41:51Speaker 1: And.
- 41:53Speaker 5: I planned to.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Then Big Ben went off. It was a great time.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Not about the musical freak flag, we will lock that.
- 42:02Speaker 1: In and it's absolutely the correct. Freak flag is indeed
- 42:05Speaker 1: a number from Shrek the Musical.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Just before we continue, Adra and Mad and for everyone
- 42:10Speaker 3: in this room, there's a pro shot of the original
- 42:13Speaker 3: broadcast of Shrek. It used to be on Netflix. It's
- 42:17Speaker 3: really fun, so definitely check it out.
- 42:19Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I tried watching it and the little when
- 42:23Speaker 6: the little boy turned around when he was a little
- 42:25Speaker 6: Shrek in the beginning, I left so hard. I cried
- 42:28Speaker 6: and then was genuinely crying and couldn't finish it.
- 42:32Speaker 1: It's like this is gonna hurt you too bad. It's
- 42:35Speaker 1: so bad.
- 42:36Speaker 3: It's so good though, can you read all the other answers? Again?
- 42:40Speaker 1: Definitely, we've got my Greens turned to blue, Donkey Pop Pie,
- 42:44Speaker 1: the Ballad of far Quaad, and by Night one way.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Okay, I think the Ballad of Farquad is another one
- 42:51Speaker 3: because I know the number like and I know what
- 42:53Speaker 3: it looks like.
- 42:54Speaker 1: But I don't know what the song's called.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Hmmm, so let's.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Let's go with that one that is also correct.
- 43:00Speaker 2: You.
- 43:02Speaker 1: I don't know the last one.
- 43:04Speaker 2: I don't know why Greens turned to blue sounds like
- 43:07Speaker 2: a thing in my mind, but I don't I don't
- 43:10Speaker 2: have any reason I believe, so I.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Don't know if that one's real. It feels so thick.
- 43:15Speaker 3: It feels like.
- 43:16Speaker 1: That is not real to me. Something makeup right, sound
- 43:21Speaker 1: like something he'd do.
- 43:22Speaker 4: All of these sounds like something that would make us
- 43:25Speaker 4: because he's.
- 43:26Speaker 1: A wild man. True, but it could be that. I
- 43:30Speaker 1: don't know.
- 43:31Speaker 3: I don't know Greens turned to blue?
- 43:33Speaker 5: Do we?
- 43:34Speaker 2: I think the other most reasonable one that I think
- 43:36Speaker 2: could possibly be a catfish.
- 43:38Speaker 4: The last is the last one.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Oh really, I was actually thinking because because Donkey Pop Pye,
- 43:44Speaker 3: that could be real.
- 43:45Speaker 2: By Night one, you know, I think they're all either
- 43:47Speaker 2: correct or incorrect. Right, is the thing that I'm running into,
- 43:53Speaker 2: is that either by Day.
- 43:55Speaker 4: One Night another.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Yep, by Night one Way is either him trying to
- 44:03Speaker 2: create an easy thing for us to get tripped up on,
- 44:05Speaker 2: or is real?
- 44:06Speaker 1: Okay, okay, you know the.
- 44:07Speaker 4: Premise of the game.
- 44:10Speaker 3: I just feel like I would have remembered Donkey pot
- 44:12Speaker 3: Pie if that was real. But yeah, Donkey, if we want,
- 44:17Speaker 3: I think it's the last one.
- 44:19Speaker 4: Your instincts have been better than mine.
- 44:21Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 44:22Speaker 4: I believe in you. I'm locking in the last one.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Okay, all right, you're going with by Night one Way.
- 44:27Speaker 1: That's so fake sounding. Come on, guys, it's not by
- 44:30Speaker 1: one Way. It was Donkey Pop. I'm so sorry I've
- 44:36Speaker 1: let us astray.
- 44:36Speaker 2: No, I should have listened to your to your other instincts.
- 44:40Speaker 2: That's that's on me. But also, what's in Donkey's pop Pie?
- 44:44Speaker 2: I don't or is it a pop peye made of Donkey?
- 44:48Speaker 1: That's what I thought.
- 44:48Speaker 6: It was like a threat song you don't get out
- 44:52Speaker 6: of my swamp makeup.
- 44:54Speaker 1: That's a good point. Oh, I didn't even think about that. Yeah,
- 44:59Speaker 1: it's the real, the real number. And yeah, but I
- 45:01Speaker 1: did love Caroline. You calling out my greens turns to
- 45:03Speaker 1: blue sounding so fake because it's like, yeah, it does.
- 45:07Speaker 3: That.
- 45:09Speaker 1: It's just like, I don't know what what if He's said,
- 45:13Speaker 1: all right, well, we've got another meme worthy musical for
- 45:16Speaker 1: Rogers and hammer Time, and it is, of course, the
- 45:19Speaker 1: SpongeBob Musical. We're going to the world one for sure. Okay,
- 45:27Speaker 1: all right, your list of five. Three of them genuine
- 45:29Speaker 1: songs from the SpongeBob musical, two of them made up.
- 45:32Speaker 1: Daddy Knows Best, Bikini Bottom Boogie, Fry Cooks Unite, Please
- 45:39Speaker 1: Don't Die, and Chop to the Top.
- 45:42Speaker 6: My first thought is that the first one is real,
- 45:45Speaker 6: because I don't think Matt would pull Daddy from any
- 45:49Speaker 6: of his knowledge of the.
- 45:51Speaker 10: Of the thing.
- 45:53Speaker 1: You don't know how I feel about mister Kraft. Okay,
- 45:55Speaker 1: damn it, that's what I was gonna say.
- 45:57Speaker 5: I I know nothing about this musical than when they
- 46:00Speaker 5: performed ass song during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, and
- 46:05Speaker 5: I feel like that was bikini bottom boogie. So maybe
- 46:09Speaker 5: that's two of them right there.
- 46:10Speaker 6: I want to go with yours, since you think you've
- 46:12Speaker 6: seen anything from this.
- 46:16Speaker 5: Fuck, I don't think I.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Knew this was a thing Bottom boogie. Yeah, that is
- 46:22Speaker 1: from the musical. It must have been the one they
- 46:24Speaker 1: did at the Thanksgiving Day Truly.
- 46:26Speaker 5: Thank god because I admitted that I watched that number
- 46:30Speaker 5: on television watch I would have been upset. No, it
- 46:36Speaker 5: was nobody made me and it was a great time. Honestly,
- 46:43Speaker 5: it was great.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Yeah you read, Yes, definitely, you've got daddy knows best,
- 46:49Speaker 1: fry cooks unite, Please don't die, chop to the top.
- 46:54Speaker 5: I mean, what did you Daddy knows best?
- 46:56Speaker 1: I do just just for just yeah, it's right yet yeah,
- 47:03Speaker 1: and daddies do know best because it is correct. Yes,
- 47:06Speaker 1: good stuff, daddy, and then yeah, no you go, Please
- 47:14Speaker 1: don't die.
- 47:14Speaker 5: Sounds like a SpongeBob thing. But I don't know if
- 47:17Speaker 5: that would make it. That sounds like a SpongeBob show thing.
- 47:21Speaker 5: I don't know if that would like be a musical thing.
- 47:23Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 47:25Speaker 6: Here's the thing that was my first thought is that
- 47:28Speaker 6: it would be please don't die. Because again, I'm trying
- 47:31Speaker 6: to get in Matt's brain really hard.
- 47:34Speaker 5: So and are the other ones too on the nose
- 47:37Speaker 5: where Matt's trying to fucking trick us.
- 47:42Speaker 1: I'm down to lock it in if you are.
- 47:44Speaker 5: Fuck it, let's do it, all.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Right, mister hammer Time, don't Please Don't Die.
- 47:50Speaker 6: I'm mister Rogers say that's decided now, Yeah, you're both Daddy.
- 47:57Speaker 5: Daddy's in hammer Time.
- 48:00Speaker 1: It's too late, damn it, and the joke's already perfect.
- 48:03Speaker 6: Sundays in the Park with Daddy, you're going with Please
- 48:07Speaker 6: don't Die.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Yeah. I wish there was a song called please Don't
- 48:10Speaker 1: Die in the SpongeBob musical, but the last there is not.
- 48:13Speaker 1: It is chopped to the top.
- 48:14Speaker 6: Okay, then my other choice, but you know what I was,
- 48:17Speaker 6: I was trying too hard to meta game.
- 48:21Speaker 2: I would have immediately not picked that one because it
- 48:24Speaker 2: sounds like bop to the top from high school music.
- 48:28Speaker 4: To the top.
- 48:31Speaker 5: Hey, but for not knowing anything about this musical whatsoever,
- 48:34Speaker 5: I'll take two.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Points, all right. That is the end of round one.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Let's count two by two Momon style to calculate the
- 48:43Speaker 1: latest stores. Those scores are four to twenty. Streets are
- 48:48Speaker 1: on six points, but Rogers and hammer Time are on
- 48:50Speaker 1: eight points.
- 48:53Speaker 4: Okay, Daddy, two points is assailable.
- 48:58Speaker 2: Oh we got this, Yeah yeah yeah yeah.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Up next is round two after these ads. If you
- 49:08Speaker 1: don't want ads on your podcast, sign up for free
- 49:10Speaker 1: at Patreon dot com. Forward slash gatesleepers. There's a link
- 49:13Speaker 1: in the show notes add free episodes a free for everyone.
- 49:16Speaker 1: That's because we find ads annoying to or consider supporting
- 49:20Speaker 1: our production financially and get access to regular video and
- 49:23Speaker 1: bonus episodes. I'm now sick of doing ad read voice
- 49:26Speaker 1: either on with the ads or on with the show.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Round two is called Paradioke. In this experimental game, our
- 49:40Speaker 1: players will have to sing along to the karaoke version
- 49:42Speaker 1: of a song from a popular musical. The twist is
- 49:46Speaker 1: they also need to convey the title of a different
- 49:49Speaker 1: musical for their partner to guess by changing the lyrics,
- 49:52Speaker 1: so it'll be changing up the lyrics completely. Sing mostly
- 49:55Speaker 1: the same lyrics, but throw in enough nouns and verbs
- 49:59Speaker 1: that are different so that we don't get a copyright
- 50:00Speaker 1: strike and throw some clues in there, or just generally
- 50:04Speaker 1: sing to the tune of and throwing clues without necessarily
- 50:08Speaker 1: matching the melody. If it doesn't quite work out, just
- 50:11Speaker 1: don't say the title of the musical. You can say
- 50:14Speaker 1: anything but the title of the musical. It's going to
- 50:16Speaker 1: be Julia kicking things off for us, of course, as
- 50:20Speaker 1: the experienced musical improviser.
- 50:22Speaker 6: Also, if I get it done faster, I don't have
- 50:25Speaker 6: to lie and wait and sweat.
- 50:27Speaker 1: That is true. That is true. So I am going
- 50:30Speaker 1: to via discord message you the name of a musical.
- 50:35Speaker 1: So are you ready, Julia ye? Could you tell me,
- 50:37Speaker 1: Julia what song is it? You'll be singing to the
- 50:39Speaker 1: tune of I'll be singing You'll be back from Hamilton, Yes, excellent,
- 50:46Speaker 1: But you won't be singing hardly any of the lyrics.
- 50:49Speaker 1: You'll be conveying a different musical for your partner to guess. Okay,
- 50:53Speaker 1: I'm going to hit the button and get the musica playing.
- 51:04Speaker 10: You say, the price of my loft not a price
- 51:09Speaker 10: that you're willing to put.
- 51:12Speaker 12: You cry at love Awe and all of those people inside.
- 51:21Speaker 1: I'm so sad, reasonates crisis.
- 51:25Speaker 10: It's actually very serious, and this is a very good
- 51:29Speaker 10: way to get the message across and make your body sway.
- 51:40Speaker 5: You get it.
- 51:41Speaker 1: I hope it is really good. You're not a dope.
- 51:46Speaker 1: It's really obvious. From one of said, I.
- 51:51Speaker 10: Know that you all be led in the retrection to
- 51:57Speaker 10: this place.
- 51:58Speaker 1: I think it's from the nine calm.
- 52:01Speaker 12: Please, so please help and answer true, do me me
- 52:07Speaker 12: and the other guy get to do the do the dude.
- 52:14Speaker 5: Fantastic Julia.
- 52:17Speaker 1: That was amazing, Julia, plastic performance. But before I hand
- 52:22Speaker 1: out performance points, Chris, what was the musical Julie was
- 52:24Speaker 1: singing about?
- 52:25Speaker 5: It was rent It.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Wasn't friends good stuff.
- 52:28Speaker 5: I mean it was so good. You nailed it immediately
- 52:31Speaker 5: within the first line. It was great.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Matt set me up for that one. Yeah,
- 52:36Speaker 1: that was perfect, excellent stuff there for for Rochis in
- 52:40Speaker 1: hammer Time, there's a point and out of five for
- 52:43Speaker 1: the performance, I'm giving the full five points.
- 52:45Speaker 2: That was incredible, really good. Most of mine will not
- 52:50Speaker 2: rhyme either.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Girl doesn't have to rhyme, does not have to rhyme.
- 52:56Speaker 1: I just would have been. I just needed to show
- 52:59Speaker 1: my self I could.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Yes, the number of exercises I have done to attempt
- 53:05Speaker 2: quick rhymes, I should be better at them, but alas.
- 53:09Speaker 6: It takes a lot of practice.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Genuinely, you're so freakin good at rhymes. The number of
- 53:16Speaker 2: things that, like in the Tune Titans musicals, where you
- 53:19Speaker 2: will rhyme multiple syllables, or like throw in a word
- 53:23Speaker 2: that was like strange. Defenestration I think was one of
- 53:27Speaker 2: the words that you used to rhyme. Maybe yeah, that's wild,
- 53:31Speaker 2: that sounds right, yeah so hell yes, yeah, amazing stuff, Julia,
- 53:35Speaker 2: fantastic debut performance.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Let's let's move on over to Audre Audra. What's the
- 53:40Speaker 1: song you'll be You'll be singing.
- 53:42Speaker 2: All that jazz from Chicago excellence, but you won't be
- 53:46Speaker 2: singing the words to that, because otherwise we'll get kicked
- 53:49Speaker 2: off a Spotify faster than the Yah show that is
- 53:52Speaker 2: only running two nights.
- 53:55Speaker 1: This is why I write things down. You'll be conveying
- 53:58Speaker 1: a musical to your partner. So I'm gonna hit the
- 54:01Speaker 1: button and start your music.
- 54:03Speaker 2: This one, I've never gotten the correct time when it starts,
- 54:06Speaker 2: because it's.
- 54:07Speaker 11: One more than you think. Come on, now, we're gonna
- 54:19Speaker 11: go to oz.
- 54:23Speaker 4: She's not that bad.
- 54:25Speaker 1: We're gonna be at school.
- 54:27Speaker 4: We're gonna learn some spell She's not that bad.
- 54:33Speaker 2: GNA is okay, but not at the start?
- 54:37Speaker 4: Is she at the end? I think this is art.
- 54:41Speaker 4: I like this musical. I think you know what it is.
- 54:46Speaker 2: Yep, ye, dude, I lost where I was.
- 54:55Speaker 4: I started the job.
- 54:57Speaker 1: You you go, the rhymes, thank you?
- 55:01Speaker 4: I did.
- 55:01Speaker 2: It was good, a good'n And then I was so excited.
- 55:06Speaker 2: I forgot that I was doing more improvised clues. I'm
- 55:13Speaker 2: so excited that I got one that I was like,
- 55:14Speaker 2: I can stop now.
- 55:18Speaker 1: It worked. You kept saying, what that was all it is? Yeah? Yeah,
- 55:22Speaker 1: So before I give the scores for performance, Caroline, what
- 55:25Speaker 1: was the musical that Ultra was singing about? Wicked?
- 55:29Speaker 5: It was Wicked?
- 55:30Speaker 1: Good stuff, all right? And you look you found. You
- 55:35Speaker 1: expressed before that that you were like, I don't think
- 55:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna get the rhymes. This isn't gonna rhyme. And
- 55:39Speaker 1: I counted at least two sets of rhymes. Oh my god,
- 55:42Speaker 1: you committed. You stayed through right to the end of
- 55:45Speaker 1: She's not that bad with the slower one. I'm giving
- 55:48Speaker 1: you the full five points.
- 55:50Speaker 5: I loved.
- 55:53Speaker 4: So feel honored to be in the space.
- 55:57Speaker 1: How are you the understudy.
- 55:59Speaker 3: That delicious performance?
- 56:02Speaker 4: I'll do jazz hands for everyone in the room.
- 56:06Speaker 1: Okay. Up next is Chris.
- 56:08Speaker 5: I'm so sorry, Julia.
- 56:10Speaker 6: Oh, I'm so excited. I love the song you picked.
- 56:15Speaker 6: It's like one of my favorites from the musical.
- 56:22Speaker 1: I don't know why to me so vague about it.
- 56:24Speaker 1: I want you to be able to know. I want
- 56:26Speaker 1: you to be able to introduce me. Okay, Chris, So
- 56:30Speaker 1: you are going to be singing a song? What's the
- 56:32Speaker 1: what's the song? You're going to be singing Jesus Christ Superstar.
- 56:38Speaker 5: Unfortunately, I'm gonna be singing Agony from into the Woods.
- 56:43Speaker 5: Nice and I'm trying to think of.
- 56:49Speaker 1: Dude.
- 56:49Speaker 5: I abuse them for springing this song? Why are they
- 56:54Speaker 5: here right now?
- 56:57Speaker 1: If you you got this? You got this?
- 57:06Speaker 5: Too many dads? One is Pierce bross In the other
- 57:25Speaker 5: increase very good, Chris, I think you've thrown enough. Please,
- 57:33Speaker 5: Oh god, that's so hard. You guys are so good
- 57:38Speaker 5: at this. Holy shit, it's tough.
- 57:42Speaker 1: It's tough. I thought you did really well with your
- 57:44Speaker 1: too yelling, too many dads perfectly so before I had
- 57:52Speaker 1: out of points for performance there, Julia, what was the
- 57:55Speaker 1: musical Chris was conveying? It was, indeed, Mamma, Mia, great stuff.
- 58:00Speaker 5: Daddy, Daddy, daddy.
- 58:04Speaker 4: There's exactly the right number of daddies on your team.
- 58:08Speaker 1: Too many dads, and Chris, you're beautifully sung clues just
- 58:14Speaker 1: like coming in with them on the lines. I thought
- 58:17Speaker 1: they were delivered with absolute power. Look, not as many
- 58:21Speaker 1: lines sung as the other two, but I'm still going
- 58:22Speaker 1: to give you four out of five points. They were effective,
- 58:25Speaker 1: that's very effect.
- 58:26Speaker 5: I appreciate it. I was like, I just need to
- 58:28Speaker 5: get grease and dat's in there, and I think I
- 58:31Speaker 5: think it'll be okay.
- 58:33Speaker 4: That's what we all need.
- 58:34Speaker 5: Areas can change your name again.
- 58:41Speaker 9: Actually the chicks will scream okay.
- 58:52Speaker 1: And finally performing on the stage, we have Caroline song.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Are you performing?
- 58:59Speaker 3: I'm first forming. Wouldn't it be loverly from my fair lady?
- 59:04Speaker 11: Good?
- 59:04Speaker 1: Excellent choice? Yes, I'm ready.
- 59:11Speaker 13: Oh ie walk is a pot on TV where my
- 59:16Speaker 13: boyfriend can marry me and I'm I'm my dad's my mom's.
- 59:22Speaker 4: A man because.
- 59:26Speaker 13: I have a canon, I do my hair and in
- 59:30Speaker 13: the sixties everywhere.
- 59:33Speaker 3: Hey mama, welcome to that scene.
- 59:37Speaker 7: Sixtee yes, stuff with the accent and everything.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Incredible giving it or despite being tired, despite it being
- 59:54Speaker 1: two hours later away, you are just giving it everything.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Fantastic stuff. Thank you. All right, we'll be four the
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: performance points or dro what was the musical Caroline was singing.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: About, Oh, that's hairspray, is hairspray, and that's hairspray.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Caroline did say head but technically hair and hairspray are
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: different words. Hairspray is a singular word. It is a
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: singular word.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: So and if it was the musical Hair, that would
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: be a just situation, very different situation.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Caroline would have just gotten naked, right exactly. Yeah, yes,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: oh yeah.
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: It's really great when you go to see all of
- 1:00:29Speaker 6: your musical theater friends and then they all get buck
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: naked in front of you and you weren't expecting it.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: I wasn't a censored production of Hair when I was
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: eighteen years old.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: It was a youth theater.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: The youngest members of our cast being eleven and twelve.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Cut that scene obviously, and like basically the whole show.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: That's really bad.
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: The director gets out of prison in six months.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: And I'm afraid. Oh well, because it had the accent
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: and everything, I've got to give the full five out
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: of five.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: Yes, thank yes, sir. Some great commitment.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: Wonderful stuff that was. That was Paradioch. I think we'll
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: get away with that.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: Yeah, those parody is l y stuff.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Performers. All right, that is the end of the round.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Let's look at the scores. It says Team one are
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: on five hundred twenty five, six hundred points. That can't
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: be right. Thank you for the actual scores. Four twenty
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: Streets are on eighteen points, but Rogers and hammer Time
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: are still in the lead on nineteen points. Nnny daddy,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: I'm just cheerful piercing mummy. That's one point.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: It's only one point.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: I love the two attitudes of these teams. Don't worry,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: it'll it'll switch over ahead of us. All right, Well,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: round three is Round three is next? After these ads

- 1:02:14Speaker 1: nine dollars. Head to www. Dot theater is better in
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: the provinces, and we should decentralize entertainment dot com.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: Hell yeah, big Swings, get on mat Yeah, I'm coming
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: for your big Broadway Broadway.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Round three is called Date Sleepers. It's our dating game,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: but no one is going to be taking their boot
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: to the theater. No dating as in years. It's all
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: about history any history fans. I like history, just not
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: when you put years on it.
- 1:02:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: I feel that.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: In this game, I will ask our players a question
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: where the answer is always a date in history. Players
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: will individually write down the date they think it is.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: But I can only take one answer per team, so
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: your answer will be the average year between the two
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: you both submit. The closest team gets a point, but
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: I'll throw out some bonus points if both teams are
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: close and one team's closer. So your first question, what
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: year did Wicked open on Broadway? What year did Wicked
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: open on Broadway? When was Caroline nine?
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: But it's still running running because I was nine yesterday.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so twenty twenty five has obviously been the year
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: of the movies. But Odra, what date do you have
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: down for this one? I wrote two thousand and three,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Audra has two thousand and three, and Caroline I also
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: wrote two thousand and three. Oh my god, average is
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: so easy, fantastic. Your average is indeed two thousand and three. Chris,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: what did you put for this?
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: I also put two thousand and three.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Whoa two thousand and three? Julia does not look happy? Sorry,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: put two thousand.
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: Two thousand and seven.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Still the same same area, Yeah, but obviously a different
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: answer to the other three people on the call. I
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: think I'm wrong. I believe we always round up. Have
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: we done that or not? On episodes? Give Oh yeah,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: we'll just be two thousand and five for this. We
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: don't even need that, but it's good to establish the
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: rule for future questions.
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: Yes, always round up, but it is two.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Thousand and five, it is two thousand and five. Okay,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: well the answer is two thousand and three. Spot on,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: damn for I.
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: Hell yeah, I did not know that.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Why I didn't know that for sure.
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: I was like, I was like this guest, Dang, I'm
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: feeling quite good about that.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna give three points for being spot on. Yeah,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: you gotta. That's but I'm also going to give two
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: points for just being a couple of years away, because
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: that's in the glass scheme of history.
- 1:05:04Speaker 6: To be fair, Chris was spot on.
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: Yeah, but my original I was originally going to say
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: nineteen ninety nine. And if I had said that, I.
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: Was going to say ninety nine.
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: Oh my god.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: I was hoping you were going to go lower.
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: I was so close to it, and then I was like, wait, no,
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: I think it was like early two thousand, so two
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: thousand and three.
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: I was between ninety nine and two thousand and three
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: as well.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: That's so absolutely well, Page.
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: I wonder different teams.
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: What happened in ninety nine.
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: I don't want to talk about it.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: I'll scroll back through your Facebook and find out. Okay,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: next question. According to most historians, what ye did the
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Golden Age of musicals begin?
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: This is a phenomenal question because I have no idea.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: I'm sure everybody thinks the musicals from their generation are
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: the best ones?
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: Is that?
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: Is that probably a universal thing that everyone's like, definitely
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: true with like music. So why not musicals?
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Right, right, gotta be all right. I think we'll start
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: with Chris on this one. What have you got for this?
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Said nineteen fifty two, nineteen fifty two, that it's three reasonable,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: and Julia said nineteen thirty, nineteen thirty. Okay, I don't
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: know when people middle nineteen fifty two and nineteen thirty.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: I think that's a good average, though, Yeah, it feels good.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Nineteen forty one, nineteen forty one, all right, nineteen forty
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: one feels pretty good. Caroline, what have you got for this?
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: I wrote nineteen thirty eight, nineteen thirty eight, just before
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: the Second World War?
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I said nineteen sixty three in sixty three.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: All right, let's let's start that hippie movement and get
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: those musicals going. I don't know, nineteen fifty one is
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: our average. Nineteen fifty one becomes the average there, all right,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: so we've got nineteen forty one versus nineteen fifty one
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: two different decades. Was the gold they starting when the
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: whole world was at war? Or was it when everyone
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: was driving cars and had white picket fences? I find
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: out the actual answer is nineteen forty three, with the
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: release of Oklahoma by Rogers and Hannerson. So that's also
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: within two years as well. So I'm gonna give two
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: points there. Again.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: It was in my opening monologue. It is the most
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: This is the most embarrassing to me.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: I'm so sorry.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: I just assume that Oklahoma can't be the peak of
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: what we're.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Bad. It's like the revival I hear has been good. Yes, true,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: that's true. I don't like the movie. I think it's
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: still is it in a good modern twist on it?
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Okay, that's good, you know, like actually recognizing the racism.
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, but Kansas City. But guys, Kansas City, come.
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: On, Kansas City can do better.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Now, Okay, let's let's see if you know this one,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: what your did the Department of Labor find Spider Man
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: turn off the Dark twelve six hundred dollars for violating
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: safety coats.
- 1:08:12Speaker 5: How dare you bring up that musical in the musical.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: Episode someone had to infamous infamous musical.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember when I heard about this, right,
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: But then again, when I heard about it, whether recent
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: or was I just happening to be the age that
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: that came into my understanding?
- 1:08:34Speaker 7: Right?
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: We know it's you know, in our in our era. Yeah,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: we were alive. Okay. It wasn't like they were making
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: musicals about Spider Man after the first wave of Spider
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Man comics.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: Or were there is that a plot? Twit a red herring?
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: All right, Caroline, what have you got for this? I
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: put twenty ten? Two ten seems pretty good, Audra I
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: said two thousand five, two thousand and five, Okay, I
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: think the Spider Man movies were popping around both those dates.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Two thousand and eight is the rounded up. Two thousand
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: and eight is your average. So just is the financial
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: crash hits. It's time to suck also crash into a
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: bunch of people. Sorry, too soon, I was running. Well,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: we'll find out how soon we'll find out it's.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: Been around somewhere around fifteen to twenty years.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: That's what we're all thinking. Julia, what have you got
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: for this one? I said twenty eleven. Twenty eleventy too,
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: said twenty eleven. That's an easy average.
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: Oh I love that.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: I love the easy averages.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Just as the upper middle class started to recover from
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: the financial crash, but the rest of us still haven't.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: Twenty eleven. Right there, the correct answer is Rogers and
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Hammertime know that history. It's twenty eleven. Oh shit, that's crazy.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: I was gonna say twenty fourteen.
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: And then I'm like, that's probably when I I found
- 1:10:00Speaker 6: out about it, and I wouldn't have known when it
- 1:10:02Speaker 6: actually happened.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: That's so wild because I have a distinct memory of
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: hearing about it in middle school, but I was not
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: in middle school.
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: Twenty eleven.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: Must have been a different spid demand property.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: Well maybe they weren't sued until twenty eleven, but it
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: happened earlier.
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Yeah, right in the.
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: US, we want to look it up. All this shit
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: like hit the fan there, like right as I got
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: on Twitter, and that was.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Around thinking it was it was an early Twitter story,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: wasn't it.
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I was on.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: Twitter in two thousand and nine. Why didn't I know?
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: Sorry?
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Sorry so for being spot on. Yeah again, it's gonna
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: be three points for Rod just and half a time,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: but three years away. Still pretty close, and it is
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: the boundary for two points. So two points for full
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: twenty Street.
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: There, thank you so much.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Okay, next one, Yeah, what you did the Bowery Theater open?
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: What did the Bowery Theater open? Got into context?
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: I was gonna say, I don't want to sound on cultured.
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: I don't know what the fuck that is.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: I'm not in New York. It's a theater that brought
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: brought Broadway to working class immigrants for the first time.
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: It's something I should know about.
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:11:10Speaker 6: People I listened to doing podcasting comedy they sometimes before
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: at the Bowery.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: Oh oh yeah, so that's the only thing I know.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: I just you translate that knowledge into some numbers. No,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: what feels reasonable? This is the This is the cruel
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: question of the round, to see what kind of different
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: dates we get here.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: I actually think I know the anthorm.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Oh interesting, Okay, I don't.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: Ballpark like, I don't know like it exactly, but I
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: think I know, like.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Maybe all right, Okay, well, I think we'll start with
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Julia on this one.
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: Update before you say years, I'm gonna update mine. I
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: just had an instinct they don't.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Okay, I'm just gonna go in nineteen thirty again, nineteen thirty.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: Go back to that. Well, you know, see if it works. Chris,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: what about you? I said, nineteen hundred, nineteen hundred, going
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: back a little bit further there. My other thought was
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: nineteen eighty, But then I was like, no, it couldn't
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: be that. We were nineteen fifteen. That could be it.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: That could be it. Uh, Caroline, what have you got
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: for this? You think you know it?
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: I think it's like eighteen fifteen, maybe what eighteen fifteen?
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Okay? And Ordra, what have you put?
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: I said? Nineteen thirty eight.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: Nineteen thirty eight. But that's like a pretty big gaps
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: that's still going to land you in the eighteen hundred somewhere.
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: Huh.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: Eighteen seventy seven is what eighteen seventeen later has said. Okay, well,
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: there's going to be no three points?
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: Is this time.
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: Fair?
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Caroline's individual answer was the closest and so therefore four
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: twenty Street have the closest answer, and the getting a point.
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: The correct answer is eighteen twenty six. Oh okay, I
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: did mn great stuff, great knowledge that Caroline. I'm you
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: get in a point because you were miles away, but
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: still the closest.
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: I'll take it.
- 1:13:04Speaker 7: Man.
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: My concept of Broadway is that it's not it's younger
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: than it actually is.
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: I think this is just like the idea of the
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: first like communal driven theaters and putting on simple like
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: music hall kind of short tune things. I don't know.
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: The Bowery that must have reformed is a different one
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: because this one actually ended and closed with the Great Depression. Okay,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: but is it is credited for inspiring the idea that
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: working class people are allowed to make art and it's
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: a tradition that is continued by other theaters in New
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: York to this day. So that's good.
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: Oh yes, incredible.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Okay, final question in this round, in the entire history
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: of Broadway, which year had the lowest ticket sales? So
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: we know it goes back to at least eighteen twenty six.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: In the entire history of Broadway, which year had the
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: lowest ticket sales?
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: I had an initial instinct, and I'm following it.
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: Yeah, same jig. Mett's fucking with us again. Damn you
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: that's just.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: You are, aren't you. Hey, maybe I don't like that
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: the teams talk to each other. We might have to
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: put a ban on that.
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: I don't know, reunionizing against Matt.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Daddy's against Matt. That's the daddy's against Matt.
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: Now is just damn.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: All right, we're gonna We're gonna start with order on
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: this one. What have you got?
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: I said two thousand and eight, the financial.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Crisis, two thousand and eight, The financial crisis. I love it, Caroline,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: I was. I also guessed two thousand and eight. Also
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: two thousand and eight. Nice and easy average there two
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: thousand and eight. I love the ones where I don't
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: have to do the math. Let's see if it will
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: be the same on the other side, Chris.
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: I said twenty twenty.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: I said twenty twenty. Oh no, no, I think Caroline's
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: realize what's happened.
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Yeah, Now I think Auldra has as well.
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: So the average is easy, Yes, that big event we
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: lived through the I think I've already referenced once on
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: this recallage. Yeah, twenty twenty was indeed the lowest in sales.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: See remember at the beginning of the podcast where you
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: ask what my favorite musical was, or maybe this was
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: before we started recording Unsure, and I said, the one
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: that I recently heard, most recently heard, is my favorite.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: You have mentioned COVID, but you mentioned the financial crisis
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: more recently. I did, yes, And I think that it's
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: it's just good to be consistent as a person.
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: It's good to know.
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: So true.
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: I was going to say like nineteen thirty three or whenever,
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: like a great depression time. But then when when Chris
- 1:15:52Speaker 6: was like, oh, he's trying to trick us, I was.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Like, oh, yeah, this mainly was the Great Depression was
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: the last time, like until it would have been one
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: of the great depression years, n't for the pandemic. So
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: I'm from a dust ball place. Yeah, good stuff, Daddy's
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: or whatever your name is. Now I can't really.
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: Now now damn.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: All right, that is the end of round three. Let's
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: ask one of the jellical cats to calculate the latest scores.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: Stop licking your asshole. Come on, four twenty Street have
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: twenty five points, but Rogers and hammer Time are in
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: the lead with twenty nine points. Stormed ahead.
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: Oh no, the Little Shroke.
- 1:16:45Speaker 6: Mad made cute when they're mad.
- 1:16:52Speaker 7: I know the.
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: Absolutely love this cast of characters. I wish you could
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: all win, but there can only be one winner. As
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: we head into the quick fire around. But before we
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: get to the quick fire around, let's talk prizes. This
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: episode Star Prize. It's the concept of song, one of
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: our species' oldest and most treasured cultural traditions, and yet
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: we still allow Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to run
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: on Broadway. Come on, but I don't know if it's
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: a bad musical or not. So I don't know if
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: you just called what most of the Internet told me
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: was the worst one in recent history, and that the
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Broadway run was terrible. It was worse than Spider Man
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: turned off the Darks. WHOA how could they messed that up?
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: It hurt people.
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: Charlie in the chacter Charlotte fact.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: Oh words are hard, Charlie in the Chacklip Factory.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: I'm looking all that in.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: I'm I'm just gonna push my wine a little further
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: away with me.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: It hurt people spirit, but out of their bodies, some
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: of their bodies.
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: Because they were trying to leave so fast.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: But our winning team will also receive two tickets to Minecraft,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: the musical opening twenty thirty one, and if the winning
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: team remembers this in six years, I'll genuinely buy you tickets.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: I'm good, I'm good, am I.
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: Up.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Next is our crucial quick fire around, But first we
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: must play one final set of ads, just regular digital marketing,
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: not like gorilla subway marketing. I knew that Green Lady
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: wasn't interested in my podcast, but I kept talking anyway.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Our final quick fire around will test your broader pop
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: culture knowledge, and it's called blockbuster musicals. In this game,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I will give our players clues to a musical based
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: on a film from pop culture history, not the other
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: way round. Those clues will be in the style of
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: an old timey show promoter from classic Broadway, like the
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: Carnival Barker. Here we go, but this kind of thing. Yeah, Oh,
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: and there's of course a classic Gates Leapers twist. You
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: need to sing your answer to me. The melody, the
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: genre of the style is totally your choice, but your
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: answer must be musical, like I think the answer is SpongeBob.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: So do I have to say our team name to
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: buzz In? Yes, okay, that's the buzz In. I'm just
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: gonna say, damn, I'll accept it. Yes, that's the narrative
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: we've built.
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: Probably just gonna say.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: Street twenty is more syllables, but it's way more fun
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: to say, yeah, fun probably.
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm going to lean that for twenty.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: Where daddy you got, You've got some catching up to do.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: I believe you can do it. Anything can happen in
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: the quick way around.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: Just a clarification question. We're guessing a movie title?
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: Yes, right, yes, everything I have here is the movie
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: title version, because most of them I think just have
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: call on the musical to them. So just the name
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: of the movie slash property is great. So for example,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: if I said, Steve and Adamson present a swampy musical,
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: that's sure to send you far, far away. Yes, Chris,
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: it's shake beautiful. It is indeed Shrek. And that's why
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: it's the example, because I've probably referenced it ten times already,
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: this episode beautifully sung. That's how you score points. You
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: can interrupt me at any point, are we already? Yes?
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, Alas and Minkoff present a story on
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: the Savannah that will make you feel the love tonight,
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: Lion King, there's a point, Caroline. Great Stuff, Waters and
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: Layman present a high school clique and a murderous misanthrope. Yes, Ordra,
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: it's Heathers. It is indeed Heathers. Good Stuff, Glazier and
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: Brooks present a show about putting on a show. You
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: will not see that coming. It will be Chris, because
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: the Lag. Chris will Bescus of the Lag.
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure it's the producers.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: It is indeed the producers. Good Stuff, Favreau and Farrell
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: present Your favorite buddy is coming to me down, Julia,
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: it's the Christmas classic itself. Waters and Lohan present a
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: show for the mothers and daughters of our great Yes.
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: Ordre, Freaky Friday.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: It is Freaky Friday. Yes, yeah, come on. Columbus and
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: Williams present a show for the desperate single fathers of
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: our great society. This old lady will shock your woke
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: little heart. Is it missus Delfire didn't know they did
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: a musical? Didn't either? Give that point to the correct team.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: Good Stuff, White and Black present a show that will
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: get you to show up for class. Get ready to
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: riff and headbang with the best of them in field. Yes,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Chris Gula rack. It is indeed still a low jack
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: black flatther. I appreciate you got throw in a little
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: bit great stuff. Zemmachis and Fox present a show that
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: will take you through time. Mm. That's gonna be very
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: close on the lag. I'm gonna give it to Caroline
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: for the drama. Yeah, back to indeed, back to the
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: future point the making sure I can. It's just for fun.
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: He could.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: June and to Toe present a show for all the
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: weird Mannic pixis damn damn, damn, damn damn. Emi it
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: is Emily. Yes, I say it. It was my birthday present.
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: Incredible, that so amazing.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: Cooper and Shoot and Sack present a show that promises
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: to be the eights Wonder if broad you want, Yes, Udra.
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: I hope the Eighth Wonder is King Card.
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: It is King Kong.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: Good stuff because there's probably not China the Wrestler The Move.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: Dayton and Farris present a show that's so depressing. I
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: wonder how they break the realism with song. So get
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: in the yellow v W bus with the whole family.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: Oh damn damn, yes, Julia, little Miss Sunshine, it is
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: little Miss Sunshine.
- 1:23:29Speaker 5: That's a musical. It was a musical that I gotta
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: go to jail for that one. I'm sorry, guys, I
- 1:23:36Speaker 5: don't I don't know about that.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: And quick before the Buzzer, Purliman and the Fundamentalist Church
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: present a high quality musical that you won't want a
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: puff puff pass on. This nineteen thirties public information film
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: is now ref that's the buzzer. Good stuff. What a
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: great quick fire around?
- 1:23:58Speaker 5: Uh huh, blew my mind? How many of those movies
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: are musicals?
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: I had? Yeah, some of them you definitely can't see anymore.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: I would see Missus doubtfire. That sounds fun. That's true.
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: I'm still touring or maybe maybe not, but that one's
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: kind of recent, if I recall.
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: Can we get tickets to that one instead?
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: Uh no, that's that exists.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: Dang, damn, damn, damn, damn damn them, damn daddy. Oh,
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: I just thought of another muse the five.
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: Minutes away from the end of the recording.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: The first time I swore I was quoting my fair Lady,
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: and I was mad, and I was.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: Like three, and I was going damn, damn. Oh cut
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: very sweet. I also to share pastor.
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: Like that was in the scripture. You was that I
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: was a child, But it's just just like that's the
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: thing you say to something mad at a chair would
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: go on the racket.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: Fantastic, Oh man, coming from that fucking virgin as well.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: That's larryous. Oh my god. Okay, before we get to
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: the final scores, I'd like to thank our players. You
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: all deserve a standing ovation and rose is thrown at
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: your feet. Why do gardeners love musical Theasis? Caroline, You've

- 1:29:13Speaker 1: ignore this sentence. If you didn't, please share this episode
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: with a friend, a Broadway fan, maybe your mom. This time,
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: this one's for the moms. I reckon. I can't remember
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: some of the jokes from its. Yeah, the mom daddies.
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: Actually specifically for the moms and the daddies. Mommy's and
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: dads beware.
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: But not the mom is in the paupers. That isn't
- 1:29:37Speaker 5: allowed to the gate leaders anymore.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll be back next time when we'll be marveling
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: with a live audience. But until then, I leave you
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: with this quote from musical Titan James Corden, going to
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: America is the best prize, so fingers crossed it will
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: work out on Broadway. It wasn't, it didn't, and now
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: he's your problem again, England. Goodbye, s
