- 0:01Speaker 1: Bill Frost is here. Bill Frost is the TV man.
- 0:04Speaker 1: We call him Mr. TV around here.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Sure, okay.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Mr. TV, Bill Frost. He's here to tell us what's
- 0:11Speaker 1: on the television at any given moment of the week.
- 0:16Speaker 1: He's a writer. You can find his stuff at cityweekly.net.
- 0:20Speaker 1: He's a podcaster. TV Tan is the name of that enterprise. Yeah.
- 0:24Speaker 1: And he's also a musician. The band is Magna Vega,
- 0:28Speaker 1: playing in Ogden next weekend?
- 0:30Speaker 2: This coming Saturday, yeah.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Where?
- 0:31Speaker 2: At the Bigelow Crystal Ballroom.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Oh, at the hotel.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Well, it's not a hotel anymore. No, but
- 0:39Speaker 2: it's an all-ages show in a ballroom for Dre's Method.
- 0:41Speaker 2: They're retiring after 40 years of punk rockin'. 40 years.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, best of luck to them.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Okay. What are we at? Tomorrow, we have a new.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Oh, excuse me.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 1: We should say... BillFrost.tv.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Go there and sign up. I'll send you stuff. Tomorrow
- 1:00Speaker 2: on Hulu, Phony, sort of a YA coming-of-age story starring
- 1:05Speaker 2: Connie Britton and Sam Navola. Sam Navola plays a teen
- 1:10Speaker 2: who is in a car accident, and he wakes up,
- 1:14Speaker 2: and his mom seems different to him. She seems like
- 1:17Speaker 2: a different woman. And, you know, what's going on? Is
- 1:21Speaker 2: there a vast conspiracy? Who knows? But it's from Marcel
- 1:27Speaker 2: the Shell screenwriter, Nick Pally, so you're going to cry.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Yeah, there will be feels.
- 1:32Speaker 2: There will be all the feels, yeah. And on the
- 1:35Speaker 2: opposite end of the spectrum of The Terminalist, season two
- 1:39Speaker 2: on Wednesday, this is Chris Pratt.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:41Speaker 2: This is Chris Pratt finding his lane post-movies, unless they
- 1:46Speaker 2: call the Guardians of the Galaxy back into action, which
- 1:50Speaker 2: I guess they could. They could. They could. Yeah, this
- 1:53Speaker 2: is Chris Bratt's thing now. He plays a Navy SEAL
- 1:56Speaker 2: who's part of a vast conspiracy. His platoon and his
- 2:02Speaker 2: wife and daughter were all killed, leaving him as a
- 2:05Speaker 2: lone survivor, and it's up to him to find out why.
- 2:08Speaker 2: This really sounds like a job for Burt Macklin. Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 2: That's a Parks and Recreation deep cut for you there.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And on Netflix, this is a new reality show, The
- 2:18Speaker 2: New Stanford Prison Experiment. They're recreating the 1974 Stanford University
- 2:25Speaker 2: psychological torture experiment.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Which was discredited.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Maybe they're trying it again.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Well, yeah, so they're locking up 30 normies in a
- 2:34Speaker 2: fake prison, and some of them are inmates, some of
- 2:37Speaker 2: them are guards, and they see where this power trip goes. Okay.
- 2:42Speaker 2: I don't know if they're dosing them with acid or not.
- 2:44Speaker 2: They didn't mention any of that in the synopsis.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah, they should.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I would hope. But that's Netflix for you.
- 2:50Speaker 1: All right.
- 2:51Speaker 2: And also on Wednesday on ABC and Disney Plus, CMA
- 2:55Speaker 2: presents I Will Always Love You, a celebration of Dolly Parton.
- 2:59Speaker 2: So you can see a bunch of people singing Dolly
- 3:01Speaker 2: Parton songs.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Nice.
- 3:03Speaker 2: In tribute on Thursday, Nobody Wants This with Kristen Bell
- 3:07Speaker 2: and Adam Brody is back for season three on Netflix. Yeah,
- 3:11Speaker 2: I watched this.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I did too.
- 3:13Speaker 2: You sound excited.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I just.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Is it one of those kind of shows like, I'll
- 3:17Speaker 2: watch that. It's cute.
- 3:18Speaker 1: It's cute.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Yeah, our early 2000s teen TV icons from Veronica Mars
- 3:25Speaker 2: and The O.C. are together again. He's a rabbi. She's agnostic.
- 3:31Speaker 2: It's wacky. And actually the best part of the show
- 3:33Speaker 2: is actually Justine, I think it's Lupe from Succession.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah, she's very funny. She's a hot mess.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Who was she in Succession?
- 3:43Speaker 2: She was the hooker girlfriend. Oh, yeah. Who had a play?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:51Speaker 2: And just further proof that naming true crime documentaries is
- 3:56Speaker 2: an art form on Thursday on Hulu, swipe right on
- 4:00Speaker 2: the devil.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Okay, what?
- 4:04Speaker 2: This is about a case in 2017 in Nebraska where
- 4:09Speaker 2: a young woman disappeared after a Tinder date. And it
- 4:13Speaker 2: turns out the guy behind this was a self-proclaimed warlock.
- 4:18Speaker 2: who was assembling a coven. Oh, of course. And he
- 4:21Speaker 2: needed a 13th woman. Huh?
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah. Magic number. Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 2: If you've been watching American horror stories, 13 and trying
- 4:28Speaker 2: to make any sense out of it.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I have been. Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:32Speaker 2: So this is a true crime story. And, uh, we're
- 4:34Speaker 2: going to get to the bottom of it. Uh, three
- 4:36Speaker 2: episodes on Thursday on Hulu. On.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Right. On the devil.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Well, on Friday on NBC and Peacock, uh, Our final
- 4:49Speaker 2: new network premiere show of 2026, Newlyweds, starring Taya Leone.
- 4:56Speaker 2: We share a birthday.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Do you now? Yep. And Tim Daly are together. They're
- 5:01Speaker 2: actually married in real life.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Oh, they are? Oh, yeah.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I didn't know that.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Okay. And he plays a... A straight, stiff professor type,
- 5:09Speaker 2: and she's a free spirit, and they impetuously get married.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:15Speaker 2: And, yeah, this sounds like they're guaranteed a feature in
- 5:18Speaker 2: an art magazine coming up. Is it? It's a comedy.
- 5:22Speaker 2: It's a comedy with a laugh track, unfortunately.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Wackiness.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's paired up with that Reba McEntire show,
- 5:29Speaker 2: which is gone for three seasons.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I was going to say, it'll be successful.
- 5:32Speaker 2: It'll be successful.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I haven't seen Reba McIntyre for a long time. Does
- 5:35Speaker 1: she still look like a raccoon?
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yes. Okay. Very much so. Yeah. And here's a documentary.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Another one from Judd Apatow, another profile of a comedian,
- 5:47Speaker 2: Paralyzed by Hope, the Maria Bamford story. I've seen her
- 5:51Speaker 2: interviewed a bunch about this coming up. She's wonderful. Yeah.
- 5:57Speaker 3: I just watched the Norm documentary this past weekend.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Norm MacDonald.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Norm MacDonald.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and while you're on Netflix, if you've never seen it,
- 6:05Speaker 2: check out Lady Dynamite. That's what I hear, yeah. Maria
- 6:08Speaker 2: Bamford's series. It's really funny.
- 6:11Speaker 1: She's one of the best stand-ups out there right now.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:14Speaker 1: She really is.
- 6:15Speaker 2: And that series from 2016 is also hysterical. And going
- 6:20Speaker 2: all the way to Sunday, the 2026 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards
- 6:25Speaker 2: on Shudder. These are horror movies.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And we've had a lot of horror movies this year,
- 6:31Speaker 2: and they've all done pretty well, actually.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I was going to say, they're cheap, and they make
- 6:35Speaker 1: a lot of money. And they've been pretty good.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. So, of course, some of the movies up
- 6:39Speaker 2: for awards are 28 Years Later, The Bone Temple. So good.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I love that movie. It's just a good movie.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Dust Bunny.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 2: I didn't see that one. I think it's on HBO
- 6:49Speaker 2: Max now. Hocum, Queens of the Dead. That's a new
- 6:52Speaker 2: one to me. I don't know that one. And, of course,
- 6:54Speaker 2: Back Rooms and Obsession. And, yeah, you don't need the Oscars.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Just watch this.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Yeah. And the award winners get a chainsaw. Excellent. That's the...
- 7:08Speaker 2: Is it a working chainsaw? It's not a functional chainsaw, no.
- 7:12Speaker 2: It's like a tiny chainsaw on a thing there, yeah. Okay.
- 7:16Speaker 1: So what night is that on?
- 7:17Speaker 2: That is on Sunday on Shudder. I think I... If
- 7:20Speaker 2: you have the Shudder. I think I do. If there's
- 7:22Speaker 2: someone in your household who's... I.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Was going to say your kid probably has Shudder.
- 7:25Speaker 2: If you love horror, you probably have Shudder.
- 7:28Speaker 1: So no SNL this week? No.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Two weeks in a row. This whole Katie Zachariah thing
- 7:33Speaker 2: is going to be cold. It's already cold. It already is, actually, yeah.
- 7:37Speaker 1: It's gone.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Saturday Night Live will be back on Halloween night with
- 7:43Speaker 2: Indy Navarette from Obsession. Okay. She's the host.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Okay.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And that's all the new stuff this week.
- 7:51Speaker 1: All right.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I'm five years behind on this, but I watched Lisey's
- 7:57Speaker 3: Story on Apple TV.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I don't know what that is. I didn't either.
- 8:02Speaker 3: It's a Stephen King book, and he wrote the teleplay
- 8:07Speaker 3: for all eight episodes. And if you want to feel
- 8:10Speaker 3: the warm thrill of confusion, this is your show. I
- 8:15Speaker 3: couldn't stop watching mostly because of the actors. You've got
- 8:19Speaker 3: Julianne Moore. You've got Clive Owen. You've got Joan Allen,
- 8:24Speaker 3: who is amazing.
- 8:26Speaker 1: She's just terrific.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Why don't I remember this at all? It's on Apple TV.
- 8:31Speaker 3: It's Lisey's? Lisey's story. But Dane DeHaan is the bad guy. Oh,
- 8:37Speaker 3: he's creepy as hell. Oh, he's just awful.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I mean good, but awful because he's creepy.
- 8:44Speaker 2: But anyway, yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 1: So, yeah, it's confusing. You know what's confusing is the
- 8:50Speaker 1: Ethan Hawke thing.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Lowdown.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Lowdown, yeah. Oh, so your prediction was wrong. Oh, did
- 8:57Speaker 1: he get up? The first time you see Tommy Lee Jones,
- 9:01Speaker 1: he's walking down the road.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Okay, all right.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yeah, Kerry predicted that he would be seated throughout the
- 9:06Speaker 1: entire show.
- 9:07Speaker 3: The rest of the show.
- 9:08Speaker 2: There have been several scenes of him standing upright.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Yeah, okay. And he's really good in it.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Well, of course.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And, of course, what's her name that I love?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Betty Gilpin.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Betty Gilpin is terrific.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 1: But I just watched the second episode. And I was
- 9:22Speaker 1: a little tired, and maybe I'd had a little bit
- 9:24Speaker 1: to drink.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Maybe?
- 9:26Speaker 1: And I'm going, now what's going on here?
- 9:29Speaker 2: It's quick. He's an award-winning journalist.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yes.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Just ask him.
- 9:35Speaker 1: All right. Thank you, Bill Frost. BillFrost.TV is where you
- 9:38Speaker 1: want to go. Yes.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
