- 0:08Speaker 1: And I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear. But you're a guest to my home. You
- 0:21Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty. And I said, no, guests,
- 0:27Speaker 1: your presences presence enough. I already had too much stuff.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So how do you dare to surbey me? Welcome to
- 0:50Speaker 2: I said, no gifts. I'm prettuer winnegar or you know,
- 0:55Speaker 2: exploring my life or getting into the details. You know,
- 0:58Speaker 2: there's a parade of things I go through daily that
- 1:01Speaker 2: I'm just trying to share these different exciting things with you. Ah.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I did come to the studio today and it was
- 1:07Speaker 2: entirely empty. It started to feel like, why am I
- 1:11Speaker 2: not getting the level of attention I need? Is really
- 1:14Speaker 2: what I was thinking. So whatever I ate my cheese,
- 1:20Speaker 2: it's starting to feel a little weird. I spit part
- 1:22Speaker 2: of it in the garbage can. And what else? I've
- 1:26Speaker 2: got my drink here. Two nights ago, I got overcharged
- 1:31Speaker 2: for a sandwich at a diner. Didn't speak up for myself.
- 1:35Speaker 2: There's no turning back. I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:38Speaker 2: That's what's going on. My lawn has been torn out
- 1:41Speaker 2: of the backyard. That's a big deal. It's a dirt
- 1:43Speaker 2: patch and the dog refuses to use it as a bathroom.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Let's get into the podcast. I love today's guest. I
- 1:49Speaker 2: really love her. It's Kylie Brakeman, Kylie welcomed.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I say hi, Hi, Hello. There was something really meditative
- 1:58Speaker 3: about all the things you just listened, where I'm like, wow, this,
- 2:03Speaker 3: this could have happened to me. This feels like, yeah,
- 2:06Speaker 3: I do eat a beat, a bit of cheese, and
- 2:08Speaker 3: then sometimes it doesn't feel right, you have to spit
- 2:10Speaker 3: it out. I am certainly never speaking up in a
- 2:14Speaker 3: service establishment, after all my years serving in restaurants. I
- 2:18Speaker 3: of course I wouldn't dare say a word.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Right, And I was with a friend and I was like, well,
- 2:23Speaker 2: maybe that whatever the sandwich that she ordered seemed comparable
- 2:26Speaker 2: to my sandwich. But I was like, well maybe hers
- 2:28Speaker 2: was like ninety dollars. And I can't say anything to
- 2:31Speaker 2: her about the price of her sand.
- 2:32Speaker 3: You simply can't say anything. But sometimes I mean, these places,
- 2:35Speaker 3: you add one extra thing and they're like, well, a
- 2:38Speaker 3: side of pershudo is simply twelve dollars, so we're going
- 2:41Speaker 3: to add that on.
- 2:42Speaker 2: I don't know what it was, the lobster tail, the
- 2:45Speaker 2: order I ordered a Ruben and a diet coke, and look,
- 2:49Speaker 2: rubens can get expensive. They can, of course, they're strangely expensive.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I'm getting acclimated to the median sandwich price becoming twenty
- 2:57Speaker 3: five dollars. I'm not excited when it's happening, but I'm
- 3:03Speaker 3: acclimated my body temperature.
- 3:09Speaker 2: It doesn't I don't think I ever will. And it
- 3:11Speaker 2: feels like the price is you know, every four years
- 3:14Speaker 2: it would go up a little bit. Now it's probably
- 3:16Speaker 2: every month, and like, oh, well, it's a new prices
- 3:18Speaker 2: double it.
- 3:19Speaker 3: We're just coming up with new numbers all the time.
- 3:22Speaker 2: The menus can't keep up.
- 3:23Speaker 3: No, no, you got to keep printing.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Um.
- 3:25Speaker 3: That's why they're switching a QR code so they can switch.
- 3:28Speaker 3: There's a new conspiracy to.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Keep us away from what the prices actually are.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Yes, to keep to make us slide into that dynamic
- 3:38Speaker 3: pricing age much.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yes, I forgot about dynamic pricing. Wendy's was trying to
- 3:44Speaker 2: do dynamic price.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I feel like every six months they're like, dynamic pricing
- 3:47Speaker 3: is about to happen. You're about to go to the
- 3:49Speaker 3: store and you're going to make eye contact with the
- 3:52Speaker 3: fruit and it's going to tell you it's fourteen dollars.
- 3:57Speaker 3: It hasn't happened yet.
- 3:58Speaker 2: But I'm ready everything Like the gas station. Yeah, they're
- 4:01Speaker 2: going to have those big things where they have to
- 4:03Speaker 2: take the numbers down on the sign daily.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Sliding them in, sliding them out.
- 4:08Speaker 2: That actually doesn't that's not the worst idea for every
- 4:10Speaker 2: business to essentially have a gas station sign where they
- 4:12Speaker 2: have to have the employee go take the numbers down
- 4:14Speaker 2: every day and let us know what the prices are
- 4:16Speaker 2: now for things.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it at least creates a barrier of entry to
- 4:20Speaker 3: changing the price, to get somebody physically out there to
- 4:25Speaker 3: fiddle with the numbers.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I was just reading about there's a gas station in
- 4:29Speaker 2: downtown LA that is charging like eight fifty a gallon
- 4:32Speaker 2: for gas, and they're kind of loving it. They're kind
- 4:34Speaker 2: of they're like, this is us, this.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Is our moment in the sun, and what with things
- 4:40Speaker 3: being the way they are now, we have now we
- 4:42Speaker 3: can go crazy.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I think that they're kind of doing it almost to
- 4:45Speaker 2: be like a news item, because you know, like places
- 4:48Speaker 2: outside of LA will be like, prices of gas in
- 4:51Speaker 2: La are eight dollars a gallon, and so they sing
- 4:53Speaker 2: they look at this one gas station. These people are
- 4:56Speaker 2: loving the spotlight.
- 4:57Speaker 3: They are gonna go absolutely gang bus on ant ant Facebook.
- 5:04Speaker 2: It's a Facebook bait.
- 5:06Speaker 3: It is like, did you see the prices in LA
- 5:10Speaker 3: are eight dollars? You have to be careful over there.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I was thinking, well, I don't have a Guess car anymore,
- 5:17Speaker 2: but I thought, wouldn't that be a fun novelty to
- 5:19Speaker 2: go get a gallon of gas for eight dollars? That'd
- 5:21Speaker 2: be an interesting, little kind of fun.
- 5:22Speaker 3: It's like paying for a water bottle at Disney Lake exactly.
- 5:25Speaker 3: It's like, oh, well, this is.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Just a fun tree that felt bad.
- 5:30Speaker 3: That felt bad in a novel way.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Maybe I could go down and just kind of spray
- 5:34Speaker 2: a gallon across the parking lot or some It's my
- 5:38Speaker 2: eight dollars. I can do what I want.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Anyway you want, right. I've never held one of those
- 5:43Speaker 3: gas cans in my hand before. That would be a novelty.
- 5:48Speaker 2: That's interesting. When you have one of those in your hands,
- 5:51Speaker 2: something's usually gone pretty wrong.
- 5:52Speaker 3: That's true.
- 5:53Speaker 2: It's like I've just hiked back from the highway where
- 5:56Speaker 2: the car broke down.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you're not taking it as a souvenir A fun little.
- 6:01Speaker 2: No, but I guess you could just get does gas expire?
- 6:05Speaker 2: Leave some of the.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Put some in the yard for later, a little.
- 6:11Speaker 2: For later or something. No, I haven't. I truly haven't
- 6:14Speaker 2: pumped gas in such a long time. I wonder if
- 6:16Speaker 2: I would be able to do it at this point.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I think I would be panicking.
- 6:19Speaker 3: What would you do when you got to the pump?
- 6:21Speaker 2: Do you think you I think I would be able
- 6:23Speaker 2: to handle it?
- 6:23Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, off gas?
- 6:27Speaker 2: I think forty five years. Okay, five years. I've been
- 6:32Speaker 2: caring about what's going on, and nobody else does, right, right,
- 6:36Speaker 2: I've been doing my part.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I don't enjoy caring, and that's the reason why I'm
- 6:42Speaker 3: hooked on the stuff. That gasoline you're absolutely smell. I
- 6:49Speaker 3: do have a hybrid, ok, I care a little bit.
- 6:52Speaker 3: I care a little bit.
- 6:53Speaker 2: And you've got the You don't have what aunt Facebook
- 6:57Speaker 2: refers to as range anxiety, which is how far your
- 7:00Speaker 2: electric car can go? Yes, yeah, big thing that I've
- 7:04Speaker 2: never experienced. But people tell me I should feel Oh,
- 7:07Speaker 2: they should be worried about how far my car can go.
- 7:09Speaker 3: You should be constantly budgeting how far your car is going?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I do think my parents have range anxiety. They have
- 7:15Speaker 3: an electric car, and they are I do hear them
- 7:19Speaker 3: talking about, Okay, well this many miles and how are
- 7:22Speaker 3: we going to get there? And does this even make
- 7:24Speaker 3: any sense? Should we even go?
- 7:26Speaker 2: Oh? No, So it sounds like they just don't want
- 7:28Speaker 2: to go. This feels like a nice excuse.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Maybe it's a good excuse.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Right, And I'm just careless and we'll probably end up
- 7:34Speaker 2: in a dangerous situation where I didn't budget the miles,
- 7:38Speaker 2: and then all of the range anxiety freaks will be laughing.
- 7:41Speaker 3: At their day in the sun will come. I'm sure
- 7:45Speaker 3: you were.
- 7:46Speaker 2: In New York recently. What were you doing?
- 7:48Speaker 3: I was in New York. I went to watch my
- 7:50Speaker 3: friend Jeremy on Saturday Night Live the progressl NL as
- 7:56Speaker 3: it's vernacularly, No, just.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Go with it, and you should have stopped.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Now people know now they know you don't know what
- 8:06Speaker 3: you're talking about. No, I got to go CSNL and
- 8:10Speaker 3: then we got to walk around. It's so cold there.
- 8:15Speaker 3: The first person to say this, it's rather cold, it's
- 8:19Speaker 3: rather cold there. And then to come back here it
- 8:22Speaker 3: we're in the middle of a heat wave in ninety
- 8:24Speaker 3: five degrees ninety five degrees. That's why I'm doing something
- 8:27Speaker 3: I've never done before in my life. I'm podcasting an address.
- 8:31Speaker 2: This is your first time.
- 8:32Speaker 3: This is my first time podcasting an address. Because all
- 8:36Speaker 3: I could think about was the heat. But normally I'm like, no, no, no, no, no,
- 8:39Speaker 3: let's show respect to the podcasting form. We have to
- 8:42Speaker 3: wear pants. But I thought it's just so hot outside,
- 8:46Speaker 3: I might as.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Well I podcasted in an address before. Well, a tunic.
- 8:51Speaker 3: You've podcasted in a tunic multiple times?
- 8:53Speaker 2: Wow, legs bear?
- 8:55Speaker 3: And did you feel any hesitation about the cameras and
- 9:00Speaker 3: you and the knees? This is the that I'm feeling.
- 9:03Speaker 2: The entire time. That didn't. That took up probably twenty
- 9:09Speaker 2: percent of my brain powered slow key worrying and wondering
- 9:12Speaker 2: what are people seeing regarding my legs? Yeah?
- 9:15Speaker 3: And if I just keep if I'm yeah, I'm putting
- 9:18Speaker 3: a lot of mental stock in how I'm crossing them
- 9:21Speaker 3: and what which parts of the knees I.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Could say, embrace the thrill, Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 3: It's it's it is the thrilling. I was driving over
- 9:31Speaker 3: going you know what, I think this is gonna be thrilling.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Actually, what else did you do while you were in
- 9:37Speaker 2: New York.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Okay, we got there. We saw the show Putnam County Spelling.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Be Oh how was that?
- 9:43Speaker 3: It was great? It was very funny. And then it
- 9:47Speaker 3: was guest starring Kevin McHale from Glee, who was great
- 9:52Speaker 3: as the If you're familiar with the show, the guy
- 9:54Speaker 3: with the Magic foot.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Okay, this is getting actually more confusing.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Okay, then I won't to explain any further.
- 10:03Speaker 2: The magic foot is someone in Glee or the Spelling Bee?
- 10:07Speaker 3: Oh okay, yes, so valid question. So this is a
- 10:11Speaker 3: stock character in Putnam County Spelling Bee, the stereotype with Glee,
- 10:19Speaker 3: it does not have that as.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Far as if they don't have anyone with a magic
- 10:21Speaker 2: foot act.
- 10:22Speaker 3: As far it's been a minute since I rewatched it.
- 10:25Speaker 2: For a long time.
- 10:26Speaker 3: It aired for a long time, and to tell you
- 10:28Speaker 3: the truth, I stopped watching after they went to New York. Okay,
- 10:31Speaker 3: so I don't know what happened after that. It's very
- 10:33Speaker 3: possible that somebody had a magic foot.
- 10:35Speaker 2: They went to New York.
- 10:36Speaker 3: They went to New York because they were and I
- 10:39Speaker 3: will say this was brave. This is something brave that
- 10:41Speaker 3: Glee was doing that I'm remembering is that they aged
- 10:44Speaker 3: the characters exactly year.
- 10:47Speaker 2: To year real time.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Yeah. So if I recall, the first season, there were
- 10:53Speaker 3: people in their junior year, and the second season they
- 10:55Speaker 3: would go to their senior year, and then in the
- 10:57Speaker 3: third season they would graduate, which is why they went
- 11:00Speaker 3: to New York City.
- 11:00Speaker 2: And we went why we saw them all die eventually,
- 11:03Speaker 2: and that's why I ultimately we watched them ah to
- 11:06Speaker 2: the grave over. Okay, so they went to New York,
- 11:13Speaker 2: then you, but you also went to New York.
- 11:15Speaker 3: I went to New York as well. I saw you
- 11:19Speaker 3: know who else was in New York Me? I went
- 11:21Speaker 3: to Puttnham County Spelling B. It was a great show.
- 11:24Speaker 3: It was very fun, and I didn't realize it started
- 11:27Speaker 3: as a character show, like like it started as a
- 11:31Speaker 3: sketch comedy show.
- 11:32Speaker 2: As so oh so like multiple people doing spelling be people.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yeah, And that was the original. It was sort of
- 11:38Speaker 3: a a UCB adjacent type adventure. And then it someone
- 11:44Speaker 3: someone Broadway saw it. The Broadway people listening are they're so,
- 11:49Speaker 3: I'm sure you'll get some fact checks. But there was
- 11:52Speaker 3: a Broadway man interested in putting songs to this, and
- 11:55Speaker 3: and I and here we are today.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Wow, and you went with our friends Patrick.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Angela, Yes yes, and parens of the pod.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Patrick McDonald's a very big musical.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Oh yes, yes, and there I very much just defaulted
- 12:10Speaker 3: to them for any sure theater right, Like I felt
- 12:14Speaker 3: really nervous to send links in the group chat to
- 12:17Speaker 3: potential shows.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Oh my god, you could really fall on your face.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I could egg on my face indeed, because it was
- 12:24Speaker 3: just so like, it's so it's so high pressure to
- 12:28Speaker 3: send it to a musical theater person.
- 12:31Speaker 2: There's no chance. Yeah, I wouldn't even dare.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I wouldn't dare. I wouldn't dare, And so I stayed quiet.
- 12:38Speaker 2: And they that can also read as like you're not
- 12:42Speaker 2: interested at all.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I know that's the thing. And in my head I
- 12:46Speaker 3: was like, should I send a link to Death Becomes Her?
- 12:49Speaker 3: Or is that gonna be so beginner? Is that? Like?
- 12:54Speaker 3: Is that? What is that?
- 12:55Speaker 2: What is it?
- 12:56Speaker 3: What kind of Because I believe it's a very good
- 12:59Speaker 3: show show, but I don't know what it indicates to
- 13:03Speaker 3: any I don't know. I just don't know the stereotypes
- 13:05Speaker 3: of the musical theater community. I don't know what the
- 13:07Speaker 3: hot takes are. I don't know what the news is.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I don't know what's going on so on Broadway World.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I'm not on Broadway World, but I do encounter I
- 13:16Speaker 3: don't know if you're on this algorithm or if you're
- 13:18Speaker 3: on a TikTok algorithm, but if we.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Can get into mine in a moment, but let's let's
- 13:24Speaker 2: hear about yours, okay.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Well I am. I do every once in a while
- 13:27Speaker 3: get Broadway drama people, okay. And they're always like sort
- 13:31Speaker 3: of ordinary looking people like who I don't think are
- 13:34Speaker 3: in the industry. I think they're like adjacent and their
- 13:38Speaker 3: love it and they're fans, sure, and they're always walking
- 13:40Speaker 3: down the street in New York in a rush and
- 13:43Speaker 3: they're like, I just heard this musical is closing, and.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Are they on their way? But I don't follow me
- 13:51Speaker 2: into a closing musical.
- 13:54Speaker 3: They really give off the energy of they have just
- 13:57Speaker 3: come from somewhere important, they are on their way to
- 14:00Speaker 3: somewhere important. I have just left a closed musical on
- 14:04Speaker 3: my way into a new show. And they say it
- 14:08Speaker 3: with it, and they're they're delivering it with such urgency
- 14:11Speaker 3: it feels like a bulletin has just been handed me.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Like that's how you get viewers.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Yeah, and so I'm not really familiar with the shows
- 14:19Speaker 3: that they're talking about. I haven't seen any clips. I
- 14:21Speaker 3: don't know them, but I'm just captivated by the urgency of.
- 14:25Speaker 2: It, right, that whole world. My boyfriend's in the Broadway
- 14:28Speaker 2: world a lot of the time, and he's educated me
- 14:30Speaker 2: in some about certain things. One thing I learned about
- 14:33Speaker 2: is have you heard it? If you want to watch
- 14:35Speaker 2: a Broadway bootleg, somebody filmed it. Do you know what
- 14:38Speaker 2: they call it? A slime tutorial? Yes?
- 14:41Speaker 3: I just heard this is it?
- 14:43Speaker 2: Which is so odd to me because it seems slime
- 14:45Speaker 2: tutorial Obviously they've been around for a while now, but
- 14:47Speaker 2: they still seem so recent that it's weird. That's the
- 14:49Speaker 2: keyword for recording Broadway musicals on a camera, yeah, before right,
- 14:58Speaker 2: that's at least since the ninety right.
- 15:00Speaker 3: And slime tutorials I thought were like kind of pandemic,
- 15:03Speaker 3: like very.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Recently, right within the last ten fifteen years. I would say, Yeah, So,
- 15:09Speaker 2: how did those two worlds.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Collib How did they get together?
- 15:12Speaker 2: What little freak decided?
- 15:14Speaker 3: One little freak decided, I'm going to combine my two
- 15:18Speaker 3: interests today and I'm going to start a movement.
- 15:22Speaker 2: It's very odd. There's a I mean, there's a whole
- 15:25Speaker 2: like kind of dark web of getting bootlegs for Broadbery musicals.
- 15:28Speaker 2: It's a very serious thing. But these people are very serious,
- 15:31Speaker 2: and they're rushing to closing shows.
- 15:33Speaker 3: I'm sure. And is it accepted within the Broadway fan
- 15:36Speaker 3: community to be looking at slime tutorials or is it
- 15:40Speaker 3: sort of frowned upon.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I think that there's it's a fine line that people walk.
- 15:45Speaker 2: I think that, well, it's probably bad for Broadway in
- 15:49Speaker 2: some way, but I think if you care enough that
- 15:51Speaker 2: you're looking those up, you're probably also wanting to see
- 15:53Speaker 2: it live.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Sort of the like zoo predicament, where like the love
- 15:59Speaker 3: that there are zoos, they don't make me feel amazing,
- 16:02Speaker 3: But also I guess you need to see an animal
- 16:05Speaker 3: to inspire the seed of interest that will then lead
- 16:08Speaker 3: you to bede biologist or something.
- 16:11Speaker 2: See when you said zoo predicament, what I was thinking was, well,
- 16:14Speaker 2: the zoos. We cannot believe, my friend, there are the zoos.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Worried about pictures and videos of animals online.
- 16:23Speaker 3: We can't leak this super footage.
- 16:25Speaker 2: You've got to get people to the actual zo We.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Have to pay, well, we have to pay all these.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Lions slime tutorial wolf got to see this, got to
- 16:35Speaker 2: get my eyes.
- 16:35Speaker 3: On tutorial Spotted Leopard. Don't send this, They're going to
- 16:39Speaker 3: take it down.
- 16:43Speaker 2: And to be totally fair to me, it makes perfect sense.
- 16:45Speaker 2: And I do think the zoo is worried about these
- 16:48Speaker 2: videos being online.
- 16:49Speaker 3: It does because what use do you think the zoo
- 16:52Speaker 3: is angry with Animal Planet and that GEO.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Footage, all those free footage of the animal I know
- 16:59Speaker 2: that people should be seeing in person. That's at least
- 17:01Speaker 2: according to the zoo. According to the zoo, they probably
- 17:04Speaker 2: also don't like shelters. They don't like people going and
- 17:06Speaker 2: saying free animals zo Yeah.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Yeah, the ASPCA and the zoo famous enemies.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Yeah. I think that there's a lot of things going
- 17:16Speaker 2: on at the zoo that they've got some concerns about.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I haven't been to a zoo in I can't remember
- 17:21Speaker 2: the last time I was at the zoo.
- 17:22Speaker 3: I haven't been in a very long time. I went.
- 17:25Speaker 3: I think I've been like twice in the past ten years.
- 17:29Speaker 3: And the most memorable time was going in college when
- 17:34Speaker 3: I was doing like an acting class where you had
- 17:36Speaker 3: to pick an animal and be that animal, which is
- 17:40Speaker 3: of course a wonderful way to spend your money. It's
- 17:44Speaker 3: a wonderful way. It's very educational, it's very helpful. Really,
- 17:50Speaker 3: it was good. It was good and necessary. But you
- 17:52Speaker 3: had to go to the zoo ten times in a semester.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Ten times. Okay. So they're like they're obviously they've teamed
- 17:58Speaker 2: up with this.
- 17:59Speaker 3: My professor and cahoos.
- 18:01Speaker 2: There's kicks from the zoo.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Absolutely kickbacks because you don't I because I picked a goat, okay,
- 18:08Speaker 3: I wouldn't say I needed to go more than once.
- 18:11Speaker 2: No, And you could also go to the farm for
- 18:13Speaker 2: that one. Of course, you can go to the mountains,
- 18:16Speaker 2: have you.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Okay, I this is off off topics slightly. But I
- 18:21Speaker 3: saw a petting zoo recently in a place that I
- 18:24Speaker 3: didn't think there should be a petting.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Zoo, downtown LA.
- 18:28Speaker 3: It was the Sweet Green on Sunset Boulevard. Was inside
- 18:34Speaker 3: the restaurant, it was right outside it, and it was like,
- 18:38Speaker 3: it's like busy, but it's a salad restaurant, of course,
- 18:41Speaker 3: and they've covered it with like goats and little baby
- 18:45Speaker 3: animals and.
- 18:45Speaker 2: The restaurant's still functioning.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Yeah, the restaurant was still going.
- 18:49Speaker 2: And the petting zoo is by Sweet Green.
- 18:51Speaker 3: It was it was like I can't even express how
- 18:55Speaker 3: close it was to sweet Like it was on the
- 18:57Speaker 3: Sweet Green property for sure.
- 18:59Speaker 2: So do we think of a Sweet Green sponsored petting zoo?
- 19:02Speaker 3: Absolutely?
- 19:02Speaker 2: What sort of animals that they have there?
- 19:04Speaker 3: I remember seeing a goat and a baby, maybe like
- 19:09Speaker 3: lamb or something, but like definitely like farm animals.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Which is not where farm animals should be.
- 19:16Speaker 3: It feels absolutely not where they should be. And I
- 19:19Speaker 3: haven't heard anyone talk about this. So the second, thank god,
- 19:24Speaker 3: I have a microphone in front of me. I've been
- 19:27Speaker 3: waiting for a platform.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Well, I will say, when you said I remember seeing
- 19:32Speaker 2: a goat, it sounds like this may not have actually happened.
- 19:35Speaker 2: This is some sort of bizarre this.
- 19:37Speaker 3: This does sound like a dream I had.
- 19:40Speaker 2: It was like three days ago, and you're saying I
- 19:41Speaker 2: remember seeing.
- 19:44Speaker 3: No, this is something I feel like I can't prove.
- 19:47Speaker 3: I've looked it up. I can't find any sort of
- 19:49Speaker 3: like Sweet Green ex petting zoo cutting down the Sunset
- 19:55Speaker 3: Boulevard this weekend, like there's no advertising for it.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Fascinating. I wonder what was going were they feeding them
- 20:00Speaker 2: silence from the restaurant. That feels like the only reason
- 20:04Speaker 2: the way you would be able to like kind of
- 20:05Speaker 2: just like.
- 20:06Speaker 3: The most intuitive version of that collaboration.
- 20:09Speaker 2: I mean, I've said this before, but Sweet Green has
- 20:12Speaker 2: the driest kale in the business.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Find a dryer carry.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Oh you're choking on that kale.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not it's at least not wet.
- 20:22Speaker 2: It's not wet. To certainly not give them.
- 20:24Speaker 3: That it is not wet, so I don't have to
- 20:27Speaker 3: worry on that front.
- 20:28Speaker 2: So you went and learned about the goat.
- 20:30Speaker 3: I went and learned about the goat to absorb. And
- 20:33Speaker 3: then the ultimate result of all of this that we
- 20:37Speaker 3: were working towards was a two hour performance where you
- 20:42Speaker 3: performed kind of like a life like you just were
- 20:48Speaker 3: that goat for two hours.
- 20:49Speaker 2: It was a one woman show with you as a goat.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Well, it was like a ten person show and we
- 20:54Speaker 3: were all the animals. There was no structure, there was
- 20:57Speaker 3: no like an I think only a few people came
- 21:01Speaker 3: in to watch it at a time because it was
- 21:03Speaker 3: just you would filter in. You'd go into the lobby
- 21:06Speaker 3: of the theater building and there'd be a bunch of
- 21:08Speaker 3: people going like ah, and then you'd kind of walk out.
- 21:13Speaker 3: You'd probably take pictures of your friend, and then you'd leave.
- 21:18Speaker 2: An absolute waste of time.
- 21:19Speaker 3: It was, I and for like to the timing of
- 21:24Speaker 3: it all, to go through all this and then for
- 21:27Speaker 3: the industry to sort of U shilen.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Yes, yes, everyone's kind of drowning and money and the
- 21:34Speaker 2: opportunities are everywhere you go.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Yes, right before the big boom of twenty twenty one,
- 21:40Speaker 3: the gold rush, the gold rush, Yes, it was a
- 21:44Speaker 3: good precursor to the absolute rich as we find ourselves
- 21:47Speaker 3: in now, to look back and go, that's what the
- 21:52Speaker 3: train we certainly, I mean, if they had even taken
- 21:56Speaker 3: a moment to teach us how to upload a YouTube video,
- 21:58Speaker 3: I'm sure, I'm sure we'd all be in a different place.
- 22:02Speaker 2: They must be pivoting to that in some way, right,
- 22:04Speaker 2: These places are like, okay, just turn it to front
- 22:07Speaker 2: facing and here's how you upload it.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Go to the zoo r with a selfie.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Stick, you guys, I'm taking you to the zoo. Wow.
- 22:17Speaker 2: So you were just did you speak as a goat
- 22:19Speaker 2: or you were just making goat noise?
- 22:21Speaker 3: I made like some goat noises like and I tried
- 22:30Speaker 3: to do it very demure, very like, very like. I
- 22:32Speaker 3: didn't come in with this. This wasn't my like I
- 22:34Speaker 3: want it.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I And did you have to interact with the other animals? No,
- 22:41Speaker 2: it seems like a missed opportunity.
- 22:43Speaker 3: It does seem like a missed opportunity because I think
- 22:45Speaker 3: we were supposed to just kind of pretend that the
- 22:47Speaker 3: others weren't there. Okay, because I guess what happens when
- 22:51Speaker 3: a goat meets a bear.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Well, see, that's what I want to see.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I do want to I want to see us work
- 22:57Speaker 3: it out.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I want to see another acting student shred you a piece.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I want to get literally eaten by a tech student,
- 23:09Speaker 3: just like hitting their acting one requirement. Don't even want
- 23:13Speaker 3: to be here and they just want to be on
- 23:14Speaker 3: the band saw Wow it was crazy. Yeah and then
- 23:20Speaker 3: so and yeah it was like a full year of
- 23:22Speaker 3: freshman year where we didn't get to do really any
- 23:25Speaker 3: scene work.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Well, you were at the zoo most of the time.
- 23:28Speaker 3: All my time at the zoo.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Wait, what college was this?
- 23:31Speaker 3: I was at Occidental College.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Okay, So you were going to the La Zoo.
- 23:35Speaker 3: I was going to the La Zoo.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Okay, I've never been to the l a zoo.
- 23:38Speaker 3: It's like it's it's good.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Oh, it's good.
- 23:40Speaker 3: I think I think it's good.
- 23:42Speaker 2: I'm just picturing something. I don't love zoo's.
- 23:44Speaker 3: It's so much concrete. It's very hot, it's very hot.
- 23:49Speaker 3: I yeah, I don't go to a lot of zoos,
- 23:51Speaker 3: so I can't tell because my general discomfort with a
- 23:55Speaker 3: whole vibe. But zoo, what should we do about it?
- 24:00Speaker 3: Should we do something?
- 24:01Speaker 2: I think it's time to do something about this.
- 24:03Speaker 3: We have to do something about the zoo.
- 24:04Speaker 2: The zoo's complicated though, right because I feel like the
- 24:07Speaker 2: kind of a good zoo. I suppose that science based
- 24:12Speaker 2: is probably helping keep certain animals going. Yeah, or you know,
- 24:18Speaker 2: like endangered species.
- 24:20Speaker 3: The pandas survive.
- 24:21Speaker 2: They probably the pandas they need a lot of it.
- 24:24Speaker 3: They need a zoo. The zoo is basically a hotel.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's one animal that probably needs the zoo.
- 24:31Speaker 3: They probably need the zoo.
- 24:33Speaker 2: I think the last time I was at the zoo
- 24:34Speaker 2: was at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
- 24:38Speaker 3: I've heard that's a great zoo.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Well that's simply not true. The San Diego Safari Park
- 24:43Speaker 2: is you I essentially had heat stroke there and all
- 24:48Speaker 2: to see half.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Of an animal, half of an animal.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I feel like I saw almost nothing. Maybe a deer.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I think I may have seen a deer, but I
- 24:56Speaker 2: don't even think it was part of the zoo. I
- 24:57Speaker 2: think it may have gotten over the fence. It was
- 25:00Speaker 2: so hot that I mean literally, I mean obviously every
- 25:02Speaker 2: animal is like, please get me out of this. Oh yeah,
- 25:04Speaker 2: I found their shade. And then it's just my sister
- 25:08Speaker 2: and I and my brother in law. That's that's not
- 25:12Speaker 2: erase him from this.
- 25:13Speaker 3: No, we will not be doing brother in law erasure
- 25:16Speaker 3: on this podcast.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Mason was there. We wandered around just I was wet.
- 25:22Speaker 2: My clothes were wet, and not from like a splash zone,
- 25:26Speaker 2: they were wet from my body and it was agony.
- 25:30Speaker 2: But maybe that's not the experience of the normal person
- 25:33Speaker 2: going to this thing. But you're out in some weird
- 25:34Speaker 2: valley in San Diego. It's not comfortable.
- 25:37Speaker 3: It's it's really like concrete makes everything, yes difficult, right,
- 25:42Speaker 3: it's so hot and warm. There's something about being really
- 25:45Speaker 3: warm on concrete that makes me feel like a six
- 25:48Speaker 3: year old and I can't like.
- 25:49Speaker 2: I wonder what that is.
- 25:51Speaker 3: I don't know what that is.
- 25:52Speaker 2: I think maybe just a full loss of control and
- 25:54Speaker 2: there's nowhere to run and you just feel like I'm
- 25:57Speaker 2: a child and I need help.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Yes, I'm a child. I need help. I like smell sunscreen.
- 26:02Speaker 3: I'm on my way from swimming lessons. Like, maybe it's
- 26:05Speaker 3: just like those flash memories.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Is it the recess element of it being out for recessing?
- 26:10Speaker 2: What was your school's playground? Like, okay, a.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Lot of concrete. It was southern California. I do remember
- 26:16Speaker 3: it being very hot. Okay, all right, I think we
- 26:20Speaker 3: found it already. I think we found it already. I
- 26:22Speaker 3: think it's making sense. But yeah, it was like a
- 26:26Speaker 3: big spread out. It was a very like open open campus.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Everything was outside because we don't have winter, so you
- 26:35Speaker 3: just kind of run around. I remember there being something
- 26:38Speaker 3: in recess that happened very briefly for a couple of
- 26:40Speaker 3: weeks where we started to create a sort of trading
- 26:44Speaker 3: system different kinds of dirt and rocks, and we started
- 26:47Speaker 3: to create to create our own.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Little like economy.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it was an economy, and then the teachers shut
- 26:53Speaker 3: it down because.
- 26:54Speaker 2: They didn't too powerful.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Yeah, our lobby was too powerful. They they just didn't
- 26:59Speaker 3: enjoy and we weren't doing anything wrong.
- 27:02Speaker 2: That's very odd. Were they worried your hands were getting dirty?
- 27:05Speaker 3: Maybe that seems like.
- 27:06Speaker 2: A very healthy thing for kids to be doing.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Yeah, creating a civilization as a sort of system of government,
- 27:12Speaker 3: right and value and currency.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that seems very I wonder there's a darker element
- 27:16Speaker 2: to this that these T shirts sure didn't want it happening.
- 27:19Speaker 3: They're like, we can't have you guys discovering agency in
- 27:23Speaker 3: this way.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Did you ever get into like going into the bathroom
- 27:26Speaker 2: and playing Bloody Mary or any of these things?
- 27:29Speaker 3: I feel like I remember doing that at like a sleepover.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Maybe this was something that took our playground by storm. Yeah,
- 27:36Speaker 2: you go into the bathroom, turn off the lights, et cetera.
- 27:39Speaker 3: And was it was it scary? Did you feel it
- 27:42Speaker 3: was show up? She showed up every time, so it
- 27:47Speaker 3: was delighted as I'm sorry, I'm being rude. Did Bloody
- 27:51Speaker 3: Mary ever show up?
- 27:52Speaker 2: Of course she showed up.
- 27:54Speaker 3: That's her thing, right right, right, right, right right, that's.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Her trade trademark move is showing up.
- 27:59Speaker 3: If it wasn't true, why would we do the chat?
- 28:02Speaker 2: She's there and she was great. She was there, she
- 28:05Speaker 2: was great, she was great this scal I don't remember
- 28:11Speaker 2: her ever showing up for me. Unfortunately, I do remember
- 28:15Speaker 2: the fear. Yeah, I do think it was probably scarier
- 28:17Speaker 2: just to go to the bathroom, to go to the
- 28:19Speaker 2: bathroom in elementary school, because you know, you're like, everyone's like,
- 28:23Speaker 2: if somebody else comes in here while I'm using the bathroom,
- 28:26Speaker 2: they're going to be rattling the stall or something. It's
- 28:28Speaker 2: just so uncertain, terrify.
- 28:30Speaker 3: You've had so much less experience with the bathroom.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Yeah, until then, and now I'm kind of a seasoned bathroom.
- 28:36Speaker 3: There's kind of a bathroom vet at this point. There's
- 28:40Speaker 3: nothing in there that's going to surprise me.
- 28:42Speaker 2: I'm a hobbyist. I get in there. I have the
- 28:47Speaker 2: time of my life.
- 28:48Speaker 3: I mean, I'm an amateur. I'm I'm not doing a
- 28:50Speaker 3: professional core. I'm just simply I mean it's something I practice.
- 28:57Speaker 2: But I have a good time. No, but we did
- 28:59Speaker 2: play Mary and that never got shut down. That never
- 29:04Speaker 2: got That's nice that they let you that, right. We
- 29:08Speaker 2: did have one day where my in fifth grade where
- 29:11Speaker 2: my teacher shut class down entirely and told us about
- 29:13Speaker 2: the devil whoa told us about how Satan can take over,
- 29:18Speaker 2: which is this was in a public school system.
- 29:21Speaker 3: And it was it was public okay.
- 29:24Speaker 2: So that's an interesting thing to think about.
- 29:26Speaker 3: And did you say she shut the door or shut.
- 29:28Speaker 2: The door she turned off? Did she turn off the lights?
- 29:31Speaker 2: That seems like a weird move if you're like about
- 29:33Speaker 2: to talk about the.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Devil, I mean adds theater.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Certainly, I feel like the lights got dimmed at least.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 2: And then she told us about like don't use weedi
- 29:42Speaker 2: boards all sorts of things. The devil will come for you.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Whoa.
- 29:46Speaker 2: This was a utah, So that kind of explains a
- 29:49Speaker 2: little bit of the but still this was a public servant.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Now do you know if this was like a speech
- 29:54Speaker 3: that she did every year. Was it sort of like
- 29:56Speaker 3: a like, okay, now now it's time. You know this
- 30:00Speaker 3: is coming. The devil will come to you through weedy
- 30:03Speaker 3: words and this and this and this this is the
- 30:04Speaker 3: syllabus or did she feel like did she feel like
- 30:10Speaker 3: it was spur of the moment.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I think it felt a little spur of the moment.
- 30:12Speaker 2: We got a lot of spur of the moments from
- 30:14Speaker 2: this particular teacher about like how her. I remember her
- 30:18Speaker 2: telling us about how her daughter had been stepping out
- 30:21Speaker 2: on her son, and WoT I.
- 30:25Speaker 3: Whoa, just like that, that's really cool. You can't be
- 30:31Speaker 3: telling kids that.
- 30:33Speaker 2: She's warning us don't step out on your go don't.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Step out, don't talk to the devil, and don't step out.
- 30:42Speaker 2: So it was an interesting education. Yeah, interesting.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Sure. I don't know if I ever got like a devil.
- 30:51Speaker 3: I think, like, I think there were some parents who
- 30:55Speaker 3: were upset about some plays.
- 30:57Speaker 2: At Okay, do you remember what plays they were upset?
- 31:00Speaker 3: I think it was actually before I got it was
- 31:02Speaker 3: in high school. It was before I got there. But
- 31:04Speaker 3: it like did a brief stint on the National On
- 31:07Speaker 3: the National News.
- 31:09Speaker 2: There's always a parent mad about the tea.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Yeah, bat boy, bat boy?
- 31:13Speaker 2: Okay, And that I assume is based on the Weekly
- 31:16Speaker 2: World News story about bat Boy. Do you remember the
- 31:19Speaker 2: Weekly World News, the black and white tabloid that was
- 31:23Speaker 2: like bat boy or Hillary Clinton had an alien baby?
- 31:27Speaker 1: Oh?
- 31:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean something like that. I'm sure I'm not
- 31:30Speaker 3: familiar with the actual.
- 31:32Speaker 2: It was an excellent piece of Oh the play right,
- 31:35Speaker 2: but boy, it.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Had something to do with I think parent what the
- 31:38Speaker 3: parents were worried about bestiality. Oh interesting, and so they
- 31:42Speaker 3: got the theater shut down, which we love to shut
- 31:44Speaker 3: down theater.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Of course, we're doing it all the time.
- 31:47Speaker 3: It's really good, it's really good.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Well, look, I think I've been trying to avoid this
- 31:52Speaker 2: topic the entire time. Of course, there's something I do
- 31:55Speaker 2: need to bring up, and I'm not comfortable, Kylie. I
- 31:59Speaker 2: was looking forward to having you here today.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and so was I.
- 32:02Speaker 2: You know, I was. Of course, the podcast is called
- 32:05Speaker 2: I said no gifts, so I kind of hit the
- 32:09Speaker 2: roof when I saw you come into the studio holding
- 32:12Speaker 2: an obvious gift for me.
- 32:14Speaker 3: I mean, I've entered your space.
- 32:16Speaker 2: You've entered my space.
- 32:17Speaker 3: I would feel insane not bringing something.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Okay, interesting, Well I don't believe any of that. Should
- 32:27Speaker 2: we open it here on the podcast? Sure?
- 32:29Speaker 3: Sure, would you like to?
- 32:34Speaker 2: Okay?
- 32:34Speaker 3: So this is a I've wrapped it in sort of
- 32:37Speaker 3: a Apple TV FYC.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Bag for the company get severance. When you vote this.
- 32:45Speaker 3: For your consideration, consider this severance. Great show.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Yeah, this is kind of a you know, it's like
- 32:54Speaker 2: from the world of Yes Severance. This is a lumen bag.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:58Speaker 2: So this is somebody's I guess an Audi or an
- 33:01Speaker 2: Innie could use Yeah. In the world of the show,
- 33:06Speaker 2: let's not forget Yeah.
- 33:07Speaker 3: I wonder if the Audies use the merch of the
- 33:10Speaker 3: innis job interesting?
- 33:12Speaker 2: That's what they should explore in the next season.
- 33:14Speaker 3: I hope they get into that in season three.
- 33:16Speaker 2: That should be the whole thing next season when they
- 33:18Speaker 2: release it in twenty thirty seven.
- 33:19Speaker 3: What do you do about the merch? Seven? I can't wait.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Aut down, Okay, let me reach in here.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Okay, pulling it all right, I will say, I.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Actually have you have this? No, no, I've got all
- 33:33Speaker 2: kinds of these.
- 33:35Speaker 3: No way, no.
- 33:37Speaker 2: I was going to say, I have no idea what
- 33:38Speaker 2: it is, but then I kind of So.
- 33:40Speaker 3: It's a it's a present that must be activated. I
- 33:43Speaker 3: will say, let's see it is activated with a button. Yes.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Now, listener, if you're just listening, you're missing out on
- 33:51Speaker 2: a huge visual right now. It's a tiny one of
- 33:55Speaker 2: the carror dealership. What do we call these? Sort of
- 33:59Speaker 2: like a wave balloon, the wavy man.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and he is inflatable by this battery pack. I
- 34:08Speaker 3: believe I won this in a Dave and Busters.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Wow, this is a good David Busters. Yeah, listener, can
- 34:14Speaker 2: you hear the We'll probably have to turn this off
- 34:16Speaker 2: or I'm gonna get it screamed at. But let's let
- 34:18Speaker 2: it run for a moment. It is just low hum
- 34:21Speaker 2: for a bit.
- 34:22Speaker 3: It is quite loud if anyone enjoys like lawnmower ASMR,
- 34:26Speaker 3: stuff like that.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Well, this podcast used to be almost entirely recorded in
- 34:30Speaker 2: my backyard, so this is kind of a throwback to
- 34:32Speaker 2: all of the things you would hear in my backyard.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it's sort of outdoors, right.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Right, So okay, so you got this at a daven Busters.
- 34:40Speaker 2: We'll turn it off for a minute.
- 34:42Speaker 3: Yeah. And the thing about this guy, and what I
- 34:46Speaker 3: hoped would happen when I finally found the battery required
- 34:50Speaker 3: to activate this, right, was that he would get some
- 34:54Speaker 3: are in him and he'd stay up for a while. Sure,
- 34:57Speaker 3: but he deflates as soon as you turn him off.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he falls off. And look at that. And
- 35:01Speaker 2: then it's just like what is this thing?
- 35:03Speaker 3: And then ultimately what is it?
- 35:07Speaker 2: This can't this has to go in a drawer at
- 35:08Speaker 2: that point. This can't just be out on your counter.
- 35:10Speaker 3: This was my problem.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Unless it's on. Unless it's on, But then how long
- 35:13Speaker 2: does the battery last.
- 35:15Speaker 3: And I've never run it all the way through.
- 35:17Speaker 2: This is interesting. It has a little warning on the
- 35:19Speaker 2: back that is not all batteries are created equal.
- 35:23Speaker 3: I've never noticed that.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Why did they put that on?
- 35:27Speaker 3: What does it say about?
- 35:30Speaker 2: No, I guess it's oh for it does say they
- 35:32Speaker 2: have recommended brands. Oh that's too weird. Uh why do
- 35:37Speaker 2: they care?
- 35:38Speaker 3: Why did they? Maybe they're getting kickbacks?
- 35:40Speaker 1: Oh?
- 35:40Speaker 2: Interesting, this is with dura Cel. This is with.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Energize, a classic Zoo kickback situation. Uh, but with dura Cel. Yeah,
- 35:49Speaker 3: this is Uh, I don't know if I have the
- 35:52Speaker 3: right battery in.
- 35:53Speaker 2: There, then oh, you put a new battery in.
- 35:55Speaker 3: I had to buy a battery and you.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Had to unscrew it in everything.
- 35:59Speaker 3: I had to do a lot.
- 36:01Speaker 2: This is more than like replacing a battery on an iPhone. Yeah,
- 36:04Speaker 2: it's probably more difficult.
- 36:06Speaker 3: And I think the because I, yeah, I David Busters
- 36:09Speaker 3: gave this to me. I believe it's David Busters. Uh
- 36:12Speaker 3: Sands battery.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Oh they didn't give you a battery.
- 36:15Speaker 3: No they didn't, and so I had to go. I
- 36:18Speaker 3: had it on my I remember this was years ago.
- 36:21Speaker 3: I had it on my list on my phone forever,
- 36:24Speaker 3: like in my like house chores list by double D
- 36:28Speaker 3: D battery or whatever. That's probably not double D double D.
- 36:33Speaker 3: It seems like a crossover. Yeah, I think, I think work.
- 36:36Speaker 3: I think it's crossing.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Over two worlds. You've got double A triple A.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Yeah, sort of a thirty four A thirty four double B.
- 36:47Speaker 2: What I guess there's just a D battery.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, so I think that's probably a D battery.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Those can run you.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Those are at eleven dollars. You can't buy those in
- 36:57Speaker 2: like a thirty pack. Like with the small ones. They
- 37:00Speaker 2: get like a couple solid battery. It's the is it
- 37:02Speaker 2: the one that you can stick to your tongue? Have
- 37:04Speaker 2: you ever done this?
- 37:05Speaker 3: Stick a battery on your tongue?
- 37:06Speaker 2: You've never heard of.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Is it the little like the the circular one.
- 37:11Speaker 2: No, it's the one with the two little things on
- 37:13Speaker 2: the top. I think that's a D battery. And if
- 37:15Speaker 2: you touch your tongue at zaps you.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Should we take it out.
- 37:19Speaker 2: If we had the screwdriver, I would I absolutely get
- 37:23Speaker 2: to bust this open. No I didn't, not a shame.
- 37:26Speaker 2: I could have really zapped myself on.
- 37:29Speaker 3: That'll some wonderful engagement.
- 37:34Speaker 2: That this is something I would recommend trying at home.
- 37:37Speaker 3: I might. I mean with the other battery that I'm
- 37:39Speaker 3: sure I have laying.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Around that pack, get home and zap yourself.
- 37:42Speaker 3: So does it matter which way.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Because it's the sort of battery that only has one
- 37:51Speaker 2: I don't know what the battery components are, the zapper
- 37:54Speaker 2: elements that we'll send the battery juice into the tool.
- 37:57Speaker 2: It's like the bottom of it, it's like a square
- 38:00Speaker 2: like this, and then at the top are too little.
- 38:02Speaker 3: And this is Are these the plus signs?
- 38:05Speaker 2: Now that's where I don't know. Yeah, okay, but they're
- 38:08Speaker 2: the only part of it that would have electricity coming
- 38:10Speaker 2: out of it. So once that touches to the tongue,
- 38:13Speaker 2: you're getting zapped. You're having the time of your life.
- 38:16Speaker 2: It's thrill, your heart's.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Racing, dancing. Never felt so alive.
- 38:21Speaker 2: That feels like something that you could take to That
- 38:23Speaker 2: should be a new trend of like taking those to
- 38:24Speaker 2: music festivals and zapping yourself right at the moment.
- 38:30Speaker 3: You could lick a little bit of battery. Have you
- 38:33Speaker 3: ever Have you ever been to Santa Cruz and licked
- 38:37Speaker 3: a banana slug?
- 38:40Speaker 2: The first half of that mates.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Okay, so this is this is my friend who grew
- 38:45Speaker 3: up in Santa Cruz. This is like something that the
- 38:47Speaker 3: you see Santa Cruz kids doing, okay, because there's tons
- 38:50Speaker 3: of banana slugs.
- 38:51Speaker 2: There, and this is an actual slug.
- 38:54Speaker 3: This is a literal slug. They're like big obvious slugs okay,
- 38:59Speaker 3: but yellow. So they're like kind of pretty okay, Like
- 39:01Speaker 3: they don't look like a typical like slug you find
- 39:04Speaker 3: in the dirt.
- 39:04Speaker 2: That are they like ocean slugs.
- 39:06Speaker 3: They're like forests slugs.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Okay.
- 39:10Speaker 3: And they're a little bit poisonous, but not so much
- 39:13Speaker 3: that it'll make you sick, just so much that it'll
- 39:15Speaker 3: numb your tongue in kind of a fun way. So
- 39:18Speaker 3: if you touch your tongue to them, they get it.
- 39:21Speaker 3: You get a little like buzz Wow.
- 39:22Speaker 2: This makes me feel better about only putting a battery
- 39:26Speaker 2: to my tongue. Yeah, have you done this with the slug?
- 39:28Speaker 3: I did do it.
- 39:29Speaker 2: And how numb did your tongue get?
- 39:30Speaker 3: Just a tiny bit. I was a little afraid. I
- 39:33Speaker 3: didn't go like whole hall. I also did want to
- 39:36Speaker 3: invade this animal space, right, so I went for a
- 39:40Speaker 3: very respectful sort of like light tap, light tap of
- 39:44Speaker 3: the tongue on the slug and it was just kind
- 39:47Speaker 3: of numb in the on the tip.
- 39:50Speaker 2: And for how long?
- 39:51Speaker 3: For like ten minutes? Fascinating Maybe I'm overestimating maybe like
- 39:55Speaker 3: two minutes.
- 39:55Speaker 2: So if you were to put your whole tongue to that,
- 39:57Speaker 2: you there's a chance you would bite your tongue, you.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Know, I mean, dentists need to know about it.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Yeah, dentist should be warned.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Dentists should be warned. Dentist, I'd like to warn dentists.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Wow, and did it taste gross? Yeah?
- 40:11Speaker 3: I don't remember what it tasted like, but it like
- 40:14Speaker 3: I don't think it was like good necessarily, but.
- 40:18Speaker 2: It's probably I would guess my guesses would be salty
- 40:22Speaker 2: or like kind of funky.
- 40:25Speaker 3: Funky for sure. Probably it's not like really a but
- 40:29Speaker 3: it also didn't taste like much. It was the main
- 40:34Speaker 3: thing I recall is is the sort of slug.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Buzz, Right, And so you went to Santa Cruz and
- 40:40Speaker 2: this just happened to be a thing you did or
- 40:41Speaker 2: was this part of the plan.
- 40:42Speaker 3: This is like part of the lore that you're supposed
- 40:45Speaker 3: to do. And I visited a friend and She's like,
- 40:47Speaker 3: this is what we do. This is what we do here.
- 40:50Speaker 3: So if you want to do it, you can't.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Wow. And so then did you have to go to
- 40:54Speaker 2: the forest to get it or did you have.
- 40:56Speaker 3: One you had to go through the for like you
- 40:57Speaker 3: they're but they're just kind of everywhere in the forest.
- 41:00Speaker 3: They are like very easy to find. Weirdly, it's very
- 41:04Speaker 3: it's a beautiful forest.
- 41:05Speaker 2: It's like a gorgeous like mushrooms growing and you're foraging
- 41:09Speaker 2: for things.
- 41:09Speaker 3: I think I think it's a big mushroom town.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Okay, see, this is something I would actually like to do.
- 41:14Speaker 2: I've never lived in an environment where, well maybe New
- 41:16Speaker 2: York you could probably forage, but you'd have to go
- 41:18Speaker 2: outside the city. But La, there's no forest that's going
- 41:21Speaker 2: to have any real foraging happening.
- 41:25Speaker 3: No, no where. It's multiple I mean, every once in
- 41:27Speaker 3: a while, I'll see like a big mushroom in a
- 41:31Speaker 3: random sort of like dirty X tree stuff parking. Yeah,
- 41:36Speaker 3: something where you're like, something is a rye here. This
- 41:39Speaker 3: shouldn't be here. It doesn't look happy here exactly.
- 41:42Speaker 2: No. I want to go into the forest, find those
- 41:44Speaker 2: find various berries. And now there's this slug element.
- 41:49Speaker 3: And now there's a slug element for you as well.
- 41:50Speaker 2: And there's no fear of getting sick.
- 41:52Speaker 3: I was afraid of that, Okay, I definitely had that fear.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Somebody must have gotten sick from that at some point.
- 41:58Speaker 2: That's a filthy creature.
- 42:00Speaker 3: There's no way nobody has. It certainly felt like a risk, okay.
- 42:05Speaker 2: And a Santa Cruz where they have the little like
- 42:08Speaker 2: Carnival by the Ocean, the little fair or the little
- 42:11Speaker 2: amusement park, yeah, because I believe when I went there
- 42:13Speaker 2: they had the roller coaster. And it's kind of claim
- 42:16Speaker 2: to fame is that it was in the Michelle Pfeiffer
- 42:19Speaker 2: film Dangerous Minds.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Oh ye did I write it?
- 42:24Speaker 2: I can't remember?
- 42:25Speaker 3: That sounds right, I mean it feels like kind of
- 42:28Speaker 3: a yeah, it's kind of like a spooky carnival, sort
- 42:30Speaker 3: of like like not Coney Island entirely. Okay, there's vibes
- 42:36Speaker 3: of that.
- 42:37Speaker 2: It's anytime you have an old kind of amusement park. Yeah.
- 42:41Speaker 2: The Michelle Pfeiffer has used as a shooting location of course.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Of course, where there's carnival, there's fifer. Do you ever
- 42:52Speaker 3: get those clips of like fake podcasts that are ads.
- 42:56Speaker 2: They're ramping up. Yeah, they're really ramping up a lot
- 42:59Speaker 2: of the fake ones and now even faker where they're
- 43:01Speaker 2: now AI people. So it's like, ye, before it was
- 43:05Speaker 2: just like, well, this is certainly not a clip from
- 43:07Speaker 2: a real podcast. It's an actor or whatever.
- 43:09Speaker 3: It's like, okay, they're acting it out. Now it's just
- 43:11Speaker 3: like have you seen this insurance? Yes, I've seen this insurance?
- 43:18Speaker 3: Wait where do I sign up?
- 43:20Speaker 2: Where are they sourcing these fake people outside of the
- 43:23Speaker 2: AI realm to be like you reach out to somebody
- 43:26Speaker 2: and you're like, will you do a fake I mean
- 43:29Speaker 2: I think that not only ads at this point, but
- 43:31Speaker 2: people are like creating. They'll make a phony little podcast
- 43:34Speaker 2: studio just to make clips to post to a TikTok
- 43:37Speaker 2: that lead and they don't ever lead back to an
- 43:39Speaker 2: actual podcast.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's sort of this weird circular industry now where
- 43:44Speaker 3: it's all just like imitating a thing that isn't real.
- 43:49Speaker 3: That is also, but I don't know where where you
- 43:51Speaker 3: get these fake people. I'm not sure I get these
- 43:54Speaker 3: mass emails sometimes because I've like posted on TikTok for years.
- 44:00Speaker 3: I was doing that, and so I think I've gotten
- 44:02Speaker 3: on this like some random track, but it'll be like
- 44:06Speaker 3: random emails that like I can't really pronounce the name
- 44:09Speaker 3: of Like it'll be a company that's like keyGo or
- 44:12Speaker 3: Gee Geeky, right, like a bunch of cues and exes,
- 44:15Speaker 3: and they're like, we're paying creators three hundred dollars to
- 44:19Speaker 3: do this script. And then it's always like ads for
- 44:24Speaker 3: mobile games where it's like the exact same script and
- 44:27Speaker 3: they want like five hundred different.
- 44:30Speaker 2: People to do it these mobile games. The money being
- 44:32Speaker 2: poured into mobile game.
- 44:34Speaker 3: Ads, it's unbelievable.
- 44:37Speaker 2: I've tried. Something is a foot, Something's extremely a foot.
- 44:41Speaker 2: Because years ago I read that they had the Monopoly
- 44:44Speaker 2: goes ad budget was five hundred million dollars. That's not
- 44:48Speaker 2: an exaggeration. They spent half a billion.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Dollars half a billion dollars.
- 44:54Speaker 2: To advertise Monopoly Go. And I never fall for these games.
- 44:58Speaker 2: I know this is your garbage, but people do. And
- 45:02Speaker 2: then I remember a listener reached out and she's like,
- 45:04Speaker 2: this is I'm so ashamed to say. My boyfriend found
- 45:09Speaker 2: out I had spent six hundred dollars on Monopoly Go.
- 45:14Speaker 2: So they're bringing there, they're hooking people.
- 45:16Speaker 3: What are you spending the money on is it just
- 45:19Speaker 3: well I guess, I guess it's a money game, so
- 45:22Speaker 3: that actually.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like the money it's almost like an exchange rate.
- 45:28Speaker 2: My money goes towards Monopoly bucks probably, yeah, But most
- 45:32Speaker 2: of these games, it's just like the game is horrible
- 45:34Speaker 2: and unusable until you start spending money on it.
- 45:36Speaker 3: And it's not even like cute.
- 45:38Speaker 2: No, none of them are cute. It's like garb. I mean,
- 45:41Speaker 2: it's true garbage.
- 45:42Speaker 3: The king is stuck in a tube. What's going on
- 45:47Speaker 3: with this king? What is his jurisdiction? What country does
- 45:50Speaker 3: he rule over? Who am I in this situation?
- 45:53Speaker 2: Why is he drowning in sewage? It's like he puts
- 45:56Speaker 2: himself in such precarious situations?
- 45:59Speaker 3: Is the king in all this? The king is like
- 46:01Speaker 3: Bart Simpson, she's up to no good.
- 46:05Speaker 2: I just want to see him on his throne and
- 46:07Speaker 2: just kind of looking out for his people. Yet sometimes
- 46:10Speaker 2: like he's near spikes, things are falling on him and
- 46:13Speaker 2: they want me to protect him.
- 46:14Speaker 3: And you think with a king game, like there's there's
- 46:17Speaker 3: like king things you could do that would be fun
- 46:20Speaker 3: to gamify, Like, Okay, we're going to sign a treaty,
- 46:23Speaker 3: We're going to like start a war if that's fun
- 46:27Speaker 3: for some video gamers.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Yeah, they're like there's certain like escapist elements of being
- 46:32Speaker 2: a king in a fantasy.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Land that makes sense, Jewels.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Not being trapped in death traps, you know, like big moments.
- 46:38Speaker 3: From wish I were a king, so then I could
- 46:41Speaker 3: be stuck in a poop tube. Somebody has to get.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Me out that. There's that king that I often get
- 46:48Speaker 2: confronted by. And then there's this poor gal. She's got
- 46:51Speaker 2: all sorts of like blemishes and she's out in the cold.
- 46:55Speaker 2: She's kind of like a nineteenth century peasant in Russia somewhere,
- 47:01Speaker 2: but she also has zits, and it's like, help change
- 47:04Speaker 2: her life. That's I think that's like the game is
- 47:07Speaker 2: called like basically, I've.
- 47:09Speaker 3: Seen ones like these where it is like this poor woman,
- 47:13Speaker 3: look at this loser. My god, she's in a situation,
- 47:17Speaker 3: and we have to do something about this. A lot
- 47:20Speaker 3: of times it's like okay, and should I have a baby,
- 47:24Speaker 3: or should I marry the poor man? Or should I
- 47:27Speaker 3: marry the rich man? And it just doesn't seem like
- 47:30Speaker 3: there's a whole lot to.
- 47:31Speaker 2: Be no doing. And then I imagine, once you get
- 47:34Speaker 2: into the game, it's just candy crush, but in different colors. Yeah, right,
- 47:37Speaker 2: Like they're not You're not actually helping this gal or
- 47:40Speaker 2: this king. You're just matching different colors and then spending
- 47:43Speaker 2: your money while your boyfriend doesn't know.
- 47:45Speaker 3: How does this candy crush get this woman out of
- 47:48Speaker 3: this situation?
- 47:48Speaker 2: And meanwhile, there's no class, no game about this about
- 47:51Speaker 2: the middle class. You know, we have the king and
- 47:53Speaker 2: we have this peasant out in the cold.
- 47:55Speaker 3: What about the everyman?
- 47:56Speaker 2: The middle class is disappearing, even in mobiles.
- 47:59Speaker 3: Merch class. The blacksmith.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Yes, somebody with a job who's that kind of together
- 48:04Speaker 2: should also be in life threatening danger.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Yeah, and we can get him out of stuff. There's
- 48:10Speaker 3: there's no in between. There's these extremes.
- 48:13Speaker 2: We're so divided the world we live in. I've been
- 48:17Speaker 2: watching a lot of garbage on TV, seper Lives and
- 48:21Speaker 2: Mormon Wives in Real House and the ads.
- 48:24Speaker 3: I'm sure love Salt Lake City.
- 48:25Speaker 2: We love our gals on Salt Lake City, don't we.
- 48:28Speaker 3: I'm a little behind. I confess I'm a season behind it. Okay,
- 48:32Speaker 3: I do love them.
- 48:33Speaker 2: There are some big I think some big changes coming yeah,
- 48:37Speaker 2: I've heard things. I've heard the things I've heard.
- 48:40Speaker 3: WHOA Okay, anyway, I'm on the edge of my seat.
- 48:45Speaker 2: I'm forced to watch this ad for this new thing
- 48:48Speaker 2: called missed Play. Have you heard of missed play?
- 48:50Speaker 3: That sounds so familiar, But I couldn't tell you it was.
- 48:53Speaker 2: The newest obvious game scam. But they're trying to tell
- 48:56Speaker 2: people it's a job. They say, you play the game
- 48:59Speaker 2: to make funny and it's just like it's literally like
- 49:02Speaker 2: the ad is this woman who's failing at every other
- 49:04Speaker 2: area of her life, she's trying to make money. She
- 49:06Speaker 2: finally settles on playing a mobile game to make money. Oh,
- 49:10Speaker 2: I mean, what are they doing to these people? Like
- 49:12Speaker 2: what dark end is happening with this game?
- 49:15Speaker 3: Yeah, we can't, we can't. We've never ever took taken
- 49:19Speaker 3: the advertising angle of these are jobs.
- 49:21Speaker 2: Yeah, candy Crush is job.
- 49:24Speaker 3: But I have heard these like AI women being like
- 49:28Speaker 3: I used to have.
- 49:29Speaker 2: I like I was a peasant in the cold, covered
- 49:32Speaker 2: in zits.
- 49:34Speaker 3: I was a Russian peasant covered in zits and now
- 49:37Speaker 3: I'm a millionaire. It's so crazy, Like I make three
- 49:42Speaker 3: hundred dollars a week playing. Oh, it's solitaire, so one
- 49:46Speaker 3: that I keep getting. I keep getting these women who
- 49:48Speaker 3: are playing solitaire for money as a job.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Gambling.
- 49:52Speaker 3: It is gambling.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Gambling is a job. That's what they all are. Really,
- 49:56Speaker 2: They're all essentially just gambling.
- 49:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:59Speaker 2: Ye, every area of American and probably everyone's life at
- 50:04Speaker 2: this point is gambling.
- 50:05Speaker 3: It's all gambling. Do you like gambling?
- 50:07Speaker 2: You hate gambling. I went to.
- 50:09Speaker 3: Vegas one time and I spent a total of I
- 50:12Speaker 3: gambled eighty dollars, okay, And I was like, oh, yeah,
- 50:15Speaker 3: I'll give myself like one hundred dollars to just like
- 50:17Speaker 3: gamble away and then like it doesn't matter what happens
- 50:19Speaker 3: to it. But they never gave me an ounce of
- 50:23Speaker 3: money back.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Like I never made anything back.
- 50:25Speaker 3: I never made anything back except for like a dollar
- 50:27Speaker 3: here and there. But I never, like, they never hooked.
- 50:30Speaker 2: Me with any amount. You want a little hook so
- 50:32Speaker 2: you're like, oh, it can work. Yeah, you need to
- 50:35Speaker 2: know at least once that like there will be some
- 50:38Speaker 2: coming back to you so then you'll keep doing it.
- 50:40Speaker 3: I need like a little bit of an incentive. I
- 50:42Speaker 3: need like a twenty or something here and there. But
- 50:44Speaker 3: they didn't. They didn't give me any of that, and
- 50:46Speaker 3: I was willing to start a gambling problem.
- 50:49Speaker 2: The casino industry failed you.
- 50:50Speaker 3: The casino industry failed I felt othered and had cast
- 50:56Speaker 3: aside unwanted.
- 50:58Speaker 2: What games were you playing?
- 50:59Speaker 3: I was playing a lot of slot machines.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Okay, see this is one, like that's the only one
- 51:03Speaker 2: that I can kind of figure out how to play.
- 51:05Speaker 2: And apparently that's the worst one for gambling, Apparently it's.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Not good for actually making money, right. And then I
- 51:12Speaker 3: played blackjack a couple times with like one of those
- 51:15Speaker 3: like hot virtual blackjack dealers. Hey, big play, you want
- 51:21Speaker 3: to put down a card? And I was just mesmerized
- 51:25Speaker 3: by her. But I also don't really know blackjack very well,
- 51:30Speaker 3: so I didn't have the confidence to like fully right
- 51:35Speaker 3: to show off. Yeah, she may be so nervous. No,
- 51:39Speaker 3: I think I just didn't know how to play. So
- 51:42Speaker 3: I didn't make any money. But I thought that the
- 51:43Speaker 3: slot machines would give me at least something.
- 51:46Speaker 2: No. I recently was kind of had to gamble and
- 51:51Speaker 2: I did slot machine and I was just like, I
- 51:53Speaker 2: don't think I made a cent, and I was it
- 51:55Speaker 2: wasn't even fun. Yeah, Okay, there's no element of this
- 51:59Speaker 2: that I'm in joint.
- 52:00Speaker 3: No, I like the free watery drinks though, that's I
- 52:03Speaker 3: didn't even get a free watery drink. Nobody brought you
- 52:05Speaker 3: a free watery drink.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Oh, this was at the Palm Springs Casino. I think
- 52:08Speaker 2: it's a little low rent. Oh yeah, you know, it's
- 52:12Speaker 2: kind of just one medium size room of yeah sad people.
- 52:16Speaker 2: And uh, what I was shocked to learn was I
- 52:19Speaker 2: barely knew how to use a slot machine, which feels
- 52:22Speaker 2: like there's one step I got to it. I was like,
- 52:25Speaker 2: oh my god, this is complicated.
- 52:27Speaker 3: Yeah, like, certainly I should be smart enough to use
- 52:29Speaker 3: this thing because they.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Don't really have the arm as much anymore. It's more
- 52:32Speaker 2: of the buttons and the touch screens.
- 52:34Speaker 3: Yeah, and there's like the doubler and the multiplier and
- 52:37Speaker 3: like the one X like weird.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Yeah, all of those little things.
- 52:40Speaker 3: I want to pull a lever.
- 52:42Speaker 2: I don't need to read a book on how to
- 52:44Speaker 2: use this thing. No, let me pull it. And then
- 52:46Speaker 2: like three cherries line up and I'm yeah, headed to MAUI.
- 52:52Speaker 3: That's what I want.
- 52:53Speaker 2: I want.
- 52:53Speaker 3: I need something tac time, right, because if it's just
- 52:56Speaker 3: on a screen, this is what I don't really. I
- 53:00Speaker 3: I don't think I could get addicted to mobile sports
- 53:03Speaker 3: betting because I'm like, I feel like I want the texature.
- 53:06Speaker 3: I want to be at the race tracks.
- 53:08Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, it all goes away and then it is
- 53:11Speaker 2: just literally taking your money and there's no other thing
- 53:13Speaker 2: about it. Yeah, at least in a casino, somebody's breathing
- 53:16Speaker 2: smoke down your throat.
- 53:18Speaker 3: Yes, you're like, where does the exit start and end?
- 53:22Speaker 3: How long have I been here? I can't tell where
- 53:25Speaker 3: I am.
- 53:26Speaker 2: My family doesn't know where I am. I've lost service,
- 53:30Speaker 2: no one has.
- 53:30Speaker 3: Heard from me. I'm hungry, I'm drunk. There's like stuff
- 53:35Speaker 3: going on. There's there's a bit of glamor to that.
- 53:39Speaker 2: What casino where you at?
- 53:40Speaker 3: I couldn't tell you. Wow, I mean they're all I
- 53:42Speaker 3: was in Vegas and they're all like they all just
- 53:46Speaker 3: kind of blend into it. It's really hard to tell.
- 53:49Speaker 3: But I liked the other parts of Vegas. It kind
- 53:52Speaker 3: of feels like you're in like a weird sort of
- 53:55Speaker 3: like European Disneyland. Everyone's open, containering. It's like a strange playground.
- 54:03Speaker 3: I saw the Blue Man Group and they were phenomenal.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Are they over now? Did they close it down.
- 54:09Speaker 3: Oh, I think they've closed down a different theater still
- 54:13Speaker 3: in Vegas.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Oh, I think maybe they closed the one in maybe
- 54:16Speaker 2: New York, the Village or something. Yeah, I feel like
- 54:19Speaker 2: I've walked past it closed Blue Men group that you
- 54:22Speaker 2: hate to see that our nation's bluemn group shutting down. Well,
- 54:27Speaker 2: so you've got to see the Blue Man group and
- 54:29Speaker 2: do anything else.
- 54:30Speaker 3: I hung out in the Flamingo pool for a while,
- 54:34Speaker 3: which was yeah, and I couldn't. It was where I
- 54:39Speaker 3: wish I could like turn off my brain and know
- 54:42Speaker 3: less things. But my friend's dad works in the pool industry. Okay,
- 54:47Speaker 3: he says highest levels of poop are in the Vegas
- 54:51Speaker 3: pools of any pool in the in the state, not
- 54:55Speaker 3: the state of the country.
- 54:56Speaker 2: I don't need a pool PhD to tell you that
- 54:58Speaker 2: those are just full of absolute carpet.
- 55:01Speaker 3: I guess this is not a revelation.
- 55:03Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure the poop is probably the least
- 55:05Speaker 2: of your worries in one of those pools. Oh yeah,
- 55:07Speaker 2: there's probably just blood in those pools. Filth.
- 55:12Speaker 3: Really, you really can't look down when you're in just
- 55:16Speaker 3: looking up directly the get heat stroke. Three margaritas in
- 55:22Speaker 3: it really is. You don't feel well the entire time.
- 55:26Speaker 2: That's kind of the Vegas experience, at least. I can't
- 55:29Speaker 2: speak for everyone. Of course, some people love the Vegas experience. Course,
- 55:33Speaker 2: they love the glitz and glam and poop and pools
- 55:36Speaker 2: and losing money and all of those other things. For me,
- 55:41Speaker 2: not a not a place I really need to return to.
- 55:44Speaker 3: No, I think I experienced it right, and I'm so
- 55:48Speaker 3: grateful for that time.
- 55:49Speaker 2: I'm slowly starting to feel the pull of the Sphere
- 55:53Speaker 2: to experience whatever's going on in there once probably and
- 55:57Speaker 2: I'll probably hate it. Yeah, I would like to see
- 56:01Speaker 2: what's happening.
- 56:02Speaker 3: I am also feeling the pull of the sphere right
- 56:05Speaker 3: before they close it down, because I know it's all
- 56:08Speaker 3: or something. Yeah, everyone, I feel like the online narrative
- 56:12Speaker 3: of the sphere is like.
- 56:13Speaker 2: This is bad.
- 56:14Speaker 3: We don't want to go to the sphere, But I
- 56:18Speaker 3: keep seeing it.
- 56:18Speaker 2: I think you get in there and you're having a
- 56:20Speaker 2: good time. You sure you're having you know, have you
- 56:23Speaker 2: seen the mini sphere here in Burbank? No, they have
- 56:26Speaker 2: a sphere we have. It's not public. This is a
- 56:30Speaker 2: private sphere.
- 56:31Speaker 3: This is a private sphere.
- 56:33Speaker 2: This is their sphere. This is I believe the spheres,
- 56:37Speaker 2: the beta sphere, enter the beta.
- 56:40Speaker 3: Sphere, enter the beta sphere.
- 56:44Speaker 2: That does feel like kind of uh, that's that you
- 56:48Speaker 2: want to graduate from that into the Mano sphere. It's
- 56:50Speaker 2: probably yeah, you started the beta sphere.
- 56:53Speaker 3: That's you've got to get out of there so you
- 56:56Speaker 3: could be a big, big, big man who eats protein
- 56:59Speaker 3: all day.
- 57:01Speaker 2: The more I say sphere, the more disoriented I fear.
- 57:04Speaker 3: Sphere. It's like as it feels very future. Yeah, this
- 57:08Speaker 3: feels like.
- 57:09Speaker 2: We're touching something that has not been touched for.
- 57:11Speaker 3: In the twenty first century right now, Like there is
- 57:15Speaker 3: a two in front of all those numbers hard to
- 57:20Speaker 3: We're not talking.
- 57:20Speaker 2: About cubes or blocks or even pyramids.
- 57:25Speaker 3: This is this is ancient history. This is Industrial revolution stuff.
- 57:29Speaker 3: The sphere is the future.
- 57:31Speaker 2: And there is a beta sphere, and I believe they
- 57:34Speaker 2: go in there and they try out the things in there.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Oh, so it's like a narrow reach out.
- 57:39Speaker 2: I guess it's kind of a NASA gravity you know,
- 57:42Speaker 2: I guess.
- 57:42Speaker 3: It's gravity sort of simulators. But oh my gosh, do
- 57:47Speaker 3: you think it So it's not open to the public.
- 57:50Speaker 2: No, not open to the public. Can't buy tickets, Okay,
- 57:53Speaker 2: I have to assume that they could give us a
- 57:54Speaker 2: private tour. Sure, Spear reach.
- 57:57Speaker 3: Out Sphere, Spear reach Out Sphere. If the AI for
- 58:00Speaker 3: the sphere is scanning podcasts, I listen to the phrase
- 58:04Speaker 3: I want to go to the sphere.
- 58:06Speaker 2: I want to try Beta sphere.
- 58:08Speaker 3: I would like to try betas.
- 58:09Speaker 2: Before graduating to Alpha sphere. And that's the classic Vegas sphere.
- 58:15Speaker 2: I wonder they're probably gonna build a sphere elsewhere.
- 58:17Speaker 3: I'm sure if I mean, if I'm the sphere, I'm
- 58:20Speaker 3: putting the sphere in everywhere I can get, every country
- 58:23Speaker 3: I can find. I'm putting speares anywhere they'll let me.
- 58:28Speaker 2: You're gonna see the sphere next time you go to
- 58:30Speaker 2: the Burbank Airport or something, keep your eye out for
- 58:33Speaker 2: a sphere.
- 58:34Speaker 3: And right next to that guy Fiery restaurant and the
- 58:38Speaker 3: is it an earth Cafe?
- 58:40Speaker 2: Do you know what? I hate? Earth Cafe?
- 58:42Speaker 3: Wow? I've never had something good from there.
- 58:46Speaker 2: Not in a million years. I've had a lot of
- 58:48Speaker 2: wilted spinach and sunflower seeds and very bad tasting coffee.
- 58:53Speaker 2: But it's still kind of has maintained some sort of
- 58:56Speaker 2: seeniness to it.
- 58:57Speaker 3: I think it like has some there's some there's like
- 59:01Speaker 3: a value to the brand, like they've got like a
- 59:03Speaker 3: good name everyone. I think it's one of those things
- 59:06Speaker 3: that everybody assumes.
- 59:07Speaker 2: Is good, right, because it's you are.
- 59:09Speaker 3: I've been going there since I was like it was
- 59:12Speaker 3: like a place you'd go.
- 59:13Speaker 2: Around for a while, right, Yeah, And it feels very
- 59:17Speaker 2: entourage to me. Yeah, it feels like the guys would
- 59:20Speaker 2: head down to Earth Cafe and now at a woman
- 59:23Speaker 2: or something.
- 59:24Speaker 3: You gotta be it's a great spot to yell at women. Oh,
- 59:28Speaker 3: I have lots of women there.
- 59:30Speaker 2: My entire assumption about what entourage is is guys driving
- 59:34Speaker 2: around yelling.
- 59:34Speaker 3: At If you'd said where what restaurant are the entourage
- 59:40Speaker 3: guys going to? I don't know if I'd say Earth
- 59:42Speaker 3: Cafe first.
- 59:44Speaker 2: They probably make fun within that time period. They probably
- 59:46Speaker 2: make fun of somebody going to the Earth Cafe.
- 59:48Speaker 3: Oh, totally.
- 59:49Speaker 2: The guy goes to the Earth Cafe and they say,
- 59:52Speaker 2: what's going on with him? It's going on here, and
- 59:54Speaker 2: then they call him a metro se.
- 59:57Speaker 3: Metrosexual.
- 59:58Speaker 2: We need to get back to calling people metro sexuals.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: Yeah, what a time period that one. What a time period.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: And I remember using the word. I remember using.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: The word in a very nasty way.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: Yes, and I said it derogatory metro sexual and it's
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: just guys with scarves.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it was guys with scarves that had more than
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: one ingredient in their coffee. Yeah, you were suddenly you
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: were metro. You were sexual.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: You were metro. Oh and boy were you sexual?
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: You were down at what I guess you would go
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: to Forever twenty one or what's the other one?
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: Yeah, Forever twenty one.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: There's the other h and M. No, there's the one
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: that's kind of like it feels like this is where
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: you would go for a cheap New Year's Eve outfit.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Oh my god, ah for Charlotte Ruse.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: No, it's for boys and girls, Boys and girls Express Express.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: That's what I'm like. That feels like you would go
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: for a cheap New Your's Eve outfit.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: Right, I'm a metrosexual in twenty ten and it's New
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: Year's Eve. There's only one place I'm going.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: I've just done finished painting my nails. People are wondering,
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: But the answer is, I'm metro.
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: I'm Metro, and the New York Times is banging down
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: my door to write a thing piece about me and
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: several other men who look like me. Does anyone straight
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: there's not much to say. We wear cardigans.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: Does anyone in the world identify as a metrosexual at
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: this point?
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: Metrosexuals, we want to hear from you. The sphere, we
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: want to hear from you.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: The sphere overrun with metrosexuals.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: It's metrosexual night at the Sphere. Come on back.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: It's metrosexuals like you never have before.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: There the sphere is plastered with them.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: I'm going to ring in the new year at the
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Sphere with other metrosexuals, me and.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: A bunch of like minded guys.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Now, a woman could never be a metro sensual.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: No, that's the tragic thing. That's the tragic thing, because cardigans,
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: I would say, come from women in general.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: I think women need to break that.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: No, it's not you can't say anything anymore.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: Cardigan's Coming podcast.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: This is a thank you microphone. Thank god I have this.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Ah, is there anything left to say about this?
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's such a thing to be enjoyed
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: when the noise is going and maybe perhaps there's other
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: noises happening in the background to mask it.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: Kind of a white noise machine. Yeah.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: I bet you could sleep to it.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: Oh, that would be nice, and then wake up and
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: scream when you see this.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: Yeah, if you're okay with encountering a monster sleep paralysis demon.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: Do you remember what game you played to win this?
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: I don't know, but if I I mean when I
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: go to Dave and Buster's, I'm heading straight for the
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Dealer No Deal Game time. I really like the Dealer
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: No Deal Game it. I mean it is kind of
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: like one of those only virtual things.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: And what are you doing. You're just picking which briefcase.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: Picking ladies, and you're going like, okay, number twelve, and
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: then she opens it up and then she either goes
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: like ooh or she goes like yay, and it's really good.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: I love those girls.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: Did they ever have bad things come out of the
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: suitcases in the show?
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: Like bad number? That's such a missed opportunity time to reboot.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: Because it's a suitcase.
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: There should be all sorts of horrible things that come
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: out of you.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: It shouldn't all be money, no, and then the banker
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: should have to make a calculation with like okay, well
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: that one's rats we know that there's still worms a
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: million dollars and twelve dollars left, so I'm gonna go
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: ahead and offer you ten thousand dollars.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: Feels like a real new version of the show. Yeah,
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: one of those could have a person who's running out
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: of oxygen. Yeah, just all kinds of things inside the briefcases.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: They could have activated it so much. Well, there was,
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: and I didn't watch it all the way through. Dealer,
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: No Deal Island.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: No Deal the movie.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: No, but I hope another unexplored fingers crossed there's an
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: island Dealer, No Deal Island. Okay, So so from the
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: pilot episode that I watched, most of.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: You didn't even make it through.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: I couldn't follow it. I confess I couldn't follow it.
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: But like they're all on this island. There are models
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: of all genders now, okay, so we're there's no problem
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: anymore with with just pretty ladies holding everybody. There's pretty guys,
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: well not there yet. Everybody's still hot and they like
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: you would have to go running around the island with
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: your team to like find briefcases. The briefcase it kind
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: of became more of a like Survivor esque kind of thing.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: But it it's it's interesting to watch, right.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: It feels like maybe there were just one too many ingredients.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: I'd say there's many ideas. This was No Deal Island.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: Well, uh, and I might go I might tap back.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm like, you know what where do I
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: access Dealer No Deal Island?
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: Because I just start? Do you watch Survivor on occasion?
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: I've watched a decent chunk of it, especially during the pandemic.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: I watched a lot of it.
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I just started. I had never been on it.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: But because of because it's fifty, I'm like, I'm swept
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: up in the ferber.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: And season fifty is happening.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: Season fifty is happening. It's like a big event.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Dearest, Congratulations and I forgive me, I've been rude.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: Congratulations are in order to survive her on fifty incredible seasons.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: But they have all these like celebrities popping in. There's
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: like the Billie Eilish boomerang idol is being hidden all.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: Over the island with the boomerang.
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: She is nowhere to be found. Oh but she left
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: a note on the idol. And I'm still like getting
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: used to Survivor culture. I kind of thought that Billie
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: Eilish would show up. I in my in my TV
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: literacy like expectation. I saw them unwrap the Billie Eilish
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: Boomerang idol read the little note being like, Hi, I'm
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: Billie Eilish and this is the Boomerang idol and I'm like, okay, cool.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: So at the end of the episode, she'll show up.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: But really, stupid of you, I think that a celebrity's
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: name would lead to the celebrity being on the show.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: I know, I feel led astray, but maybe we're saving
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: him for the finale.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: I don't think she's like circling the island in a helicopter.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: She's waiting for just the right time, just for the
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: stakes to get high enough and then she'll drop down.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: But Survivor's very it's a very interesting show, so it
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: fun sharked kind of a like, Okay, maybe I'll go
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: back to Dealer No deal island, right.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: My problem with Survivor is there no briefcases. So this
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: is kind of the perfect solve for that.
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: If these two shows would just talk to each other.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: Get some sort of luggage or something you could take
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: to the office.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: What are you going to do with all those totems
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: when you go home? How are you going to get them?
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: There?
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: Give these people a briefcase.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: It's an easy solution to an obvious problem. Yeah, well,
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: I think we should play a game. Okay, deal or
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: no Deal's got me in the mood.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: Oh yeah, well we're going.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: To play a game called Gift or a Curse. I
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: need a number between one and ten from you. Seven. Okay.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: I have to do some light calculating to get our
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: game pieces. So right now, you can recommend promote to
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: whatever you want. I'll be right back.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Okay, Hi everybody, Hello listeners, This is Kylie. I am
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: the person who's been on this podcast since then. I
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: have a podcast as well that Bridger's been on that
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: is is called Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: It's an improvised Hollywood roundtable podcast where we play different
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: characters every time. And then I also have a live
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: show at the Illegion that I don't remember the date of,
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: but you can follow me on Instagram at Dead Eye
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: Brakemen and I will provide that information willingly and when
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: I have it. In terms of other things I can recommend.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: I am watching season ten of Love is Blind, although
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: I now realize I am a few weeks behind Ohio, Ohio.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: It's the only season I've ever watched.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they're all kind of like this. Okay,
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: they all hit the same like decibel.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: Okay, I'd say that makes sense.
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: Every city like they are different from each other. But
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: it's like it's all kind of the same size of
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: city and like type of person. Right, everybody looks similar.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: But I'm still gobbling it up.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: I had an excellent time watching it. Where are you
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: in the show?
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: I think I'm on. I haven't gotten to we haven't
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: gone to Mexico yet. Oh okay, so I'm still early.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: Got a lot, a lot ahead at you.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: There's a lot to go.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Yeah, there's some revelations, there's some behavior. Just brace yourself.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: Okay, I'm getting ready.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: Brace yourself. And the reunion. I mean, I've never seen
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: a reunion special like this. This felt like they really
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: it was really. I mean, the culture has become entirely
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Jerry Springer at this point. Yes, yes, yes, maybe beyond
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Jerry Springer. Yes, so crazy.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Jerry Springer planted a seed, yet we are now seeing
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: harvesting over and over we continue to harvest.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Yes everyone, Yes, go find everything that Kylie is involved with.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: It's all wonderful and wonderful. Let's play the game. This
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: is how we play. I'm going to name three things,
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: so you'll tell me if there are a gift or
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: a curse and why. Then I'll tell you if you're
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: a writer wrong, there are correct answers. You can fail,
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: you can win big great, you can get an in between.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: I suppose. All right, these are all suggestions from our
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: Patreon listeners today. This first one is from Rick. Gift
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: or a curse referring to your personal life as behind
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: the scenes.
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: Okay, this is okay that and would I like to
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: receive this as a gift?
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: No, the concept you think it is?
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Ok yes? Is that a gift to riccurse? I think
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: that's a gift. I think that provides sort of like
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: a theatricality to your life that enables you to continue
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: making big, bold choices in your life. If you feel
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: you are the star of a show, you might act accordically,
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: if you feel there's some stakes and some drama to it.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: Correct gift. Oh, that's a gift. That's a little taste
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: of Hollywood, of course, have the self respect to think
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: that you are the protagonists. That everybody's watching you and
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: they want to know what's happening behind the scenes. Yeah,
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: they want that BTS footage.
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: You have to live as though you are the star, yes,
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: and not the star's accountant or whatnot.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Everyone at the office should be hearing about your behind
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: the scenes.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Yes, I need to tell you about my behind the scenes.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: I keep that behind the scene. So that's a gift.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: That's a gift you can give yourself and everyone else
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: in your life. Okay, this next one is from Lorraine.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: Gift or a curse?
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: Bruises, bruises, bruises, curse Why I always hit my leg
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: in the dang night and I don't know how it's happening,
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: but I wake up I have and you might even
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: be able to see it because I'm podcasting in a drawer.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: For God's sake, God's sake.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: But I feel like I'm constantly covered in bruises. I
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: feel like this is nothing but a curse. Hmm, Am
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: I wrong?
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Wrong? No, this is a gift. Okay. This is a
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: color that we don't see often. This is a little
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: thing that you get to just kind of your body
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: gets to explore a new color for a period, and
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: it's a reminder of the mistakes you make.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: So true, I forgot about art the blue period.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: Yes exactly. And it's like, well you you caused it. Yeah,
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: you're to blame for the bruise, and so why not
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: live with it for a few days. Put a dress on,
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: go out. Let people know I kicked something in the night.
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: I can't be trusted to sleep in.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: A bit, I can't be trusted.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: Bruise is it's a badge of honor that nature provides
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: and it's a lesson. It's ultimately a lesson. So you
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: got that wrong. Now. Finally, this is from a listener
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: named Grace. Gift or a curse Garbage day?
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: Garbage day is? I mean, I think it's a gift. Yeah,
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: that's a gift. Society takes away the garbage for you,
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: and I think that's nice.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: Mm hmmm.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: It's it's nice that someone comes along and relieves you
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: of of your mess. It's nice and it's the mark
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: of a civilized society. I think. So I would say,
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: I would say.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: Gift, Well, you're wrong, that's that's a curse.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: I knew. I would be.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: Garbage Day is a curse. They're taking away my things.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: They're taking my things, and it's noisy. What's good about
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: any of that? I think that's bad. Garbage Day is
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: a curse.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: Things are wrappers, You're precious wrappers and boxes. Things.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: Stop taking my taking my things. He took my thing
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: chasing the garbage truck. You took my things. Do they
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: let garbage trucks on the freeway? That feels like I
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: shouldn't be able to go that fast.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: I think I saw one on the freeway recently and
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: it was going quite slow. Interesting, it doesn't feel like
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: an intuitive spot for that.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: A garbage truck should not be going eighty five. No,
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: it feels bad.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: Garbage struck shouldn't be gunning it.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: What a feeling, What a feeling that would be to me?
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Just race into the dump.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Gotta get to the top.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: One hundred miles an hour, flying down the carpool lane, I.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: Gotta get to the dump.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: Where do you gotta be? Where on earth do you
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: have to be so bad?
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: Looking at your watch?
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: Oh my god, I'm late for the dump. Guys, the
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: dump are gonna be furious.
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: If I'm light to the dump. One more time.
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: They're not gonna let me pick up any more trash.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: It's just rude. It's just rude. Yeah, you gotta get
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: to the dump on time. Well, you got one out
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: of three.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: Hey, that's if this was a baseball stat that'd be
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: a that'd be a batting average of three thirty three?
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: Is that good?
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: Which is good? Believe that you believe that that's good.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: One out of three.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: That's actually an incredible batting average because it's usually like, yeah,
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: you hit one out of every eight, okay.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: Okay, so you're never one out of three. Yeah, you
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: hit chunk of the pie.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: It's a big chunk of the pie.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: And they're that bad at hitting the ball that Wow,
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: it's really a picture's game. Interesting. Batters have got to
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: get better at the game. They do. I've never hit
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: a baseball. You've never hit a baseball once in my life.
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: And I think I've tried to get out there hard.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: But you know, as a child, you're exposed to baseball. Yeah,
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: my batting average is it's not.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: I played good softball for ten years, but all through
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: the child part before you've become like it becomes actually competitive.
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: Oh okay, and I barely ever hit the ball. It's very,
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: very difficult.
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: Oh, it's scary difficult, and it's scary.
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: It's coming at you very I don't.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Like that feeling. No, I shouldn't have to hit things
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: away from me.
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: No, and I always hit very defensively, like.
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: Scream. No. Okay, well, let's answer a listener question. People
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: are writing into I said no gifts at gmail dot com,
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: or they're sending voice notes, et cetera. We hope me
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: answer one of these. Of course, it says deer bridger
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: and guest, that's very cold. Okay. I want to give
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: a present to my fifty eight Oh, I want to
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: give a present to my fifty eight year old sugar daddy.
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: He basically funds my life, and I'd love to show
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: him my appreciation. No, I don't, but I don't know
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: if it would be weird basically using his own money
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: to buy him a gift. He loves dogs, cooking, travel,
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: and spending money, and spending money on young women. And
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: that's from Sabrina. Sabrina, I'm sorry, my apology. I'm trying
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: to show this email the respect it deserves. This is serious,
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: this is real. What does Sabrina get her sugar daddy.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: He's fifty eight. Wow, he.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: He loves so what is what does he love? Again?
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: He loves I mean I heard spending other than the obvious,
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: spending money on young women.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: He loves dogs, cooking, travel.
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: Dogs, cooking travel. Yes, okay, Wow, this is sort of
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: a like I cut off my hair to buy you jewels.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: But oh it's got a cold gift of the magic
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: gift of.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: The magi, A classic gift of the classic gift of
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: the magi. Because the thing he wants most of all
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: is to spend money on you, all right.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: But if she spends it all on him, he won't
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: be able to spend it on her.
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: Yeah, there's there's math here.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: A dangerous game.
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: This is a dangerous game. Oh my gosh. I mean, okay,
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: but he loves.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: That she's spending the money, or that his money's being suspenced.
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: So I guess you could buy yourself like an expensive
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: piece of jewelry.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: Oh that's nice.
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: I'm sure he would like to know that that's happening,
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: or you could buy I wonder if he has multiple
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: I don't know if this is a monogamous sugar Daddy situation,
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: or if he.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: Has sugar daddy of six.
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a sugar daddy of six, sugar father, a
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: sugar father. You know, he has to put food on
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: the table. There's six beautiful women.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Who all.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: Eat a bag.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: I have six beautiful twenty two year olds who depend
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: on me.
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: Oh my girls, my girls, My girls need me. Yeah,
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: I'm like, would you get a Okay, he loves spending
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: money on young women, but it is his money. It
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: is is a brain puzzle because I'm like, maybe she
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: could give him some money to spend on another sugar baby,
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: but I don't know if that's the point. Maybe this
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: is a one on one sugar daddy relationship and this
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: is an saft. This is a logic problem. It's his money.
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: So maybe you have to give him something that money
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: can't buy.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: Oh see, but I think that's gonna make him mad.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: He's gonna be so mad that his money is a
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: fucking craft you make this.
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: But then you know, maybe he has a community of
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: sugar daddy is that he can like bring. Okay, yeah,
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: my sugar baby made me this friendship bracelet. She made
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: me this mug.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: That might be kind of nice, right, Right, So maybe
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: that's a and maybe there are relationships getting boring. It's
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: a little like, yeah, I know you're spending your money
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: on me, you love doing it. I'm bringing in a
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: free element. I made this with crap I found around
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: the house. It's a picture of us.
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: To show my appreciation. I made you a macaroni frame
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: right us right at noboo. I can only assume yeah,
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: I mean, okay, okay, if he is, if he is
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: just giving. If it is, maybe I'll just show him
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: something nice. Maybe you buy a trip. It depends on
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: how much money he's giving you. Right, But if you
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: buy a trip for the two of you to take
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: on together, right, well, that feels like something he should
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: be doing, right, that's what he loves. Okay, So maybe
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: you can get him like a gift from the airport.
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: Maybe something that would make him happy, which would be
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: free for her. Is to get really demanding, even more
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: demanding and screaming and wanting, you know, even more than
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: she already may be. Yeah, because he wants to give
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: give me more money, right to start making demands threats.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Maybe there aren't enough threats in the relationship. Yes, I'll
