- 0:00Speaker 1: You know, a town with money is a little like
- 0:02Speaker 1: the mule with a spinning wheel. No one knows how
- 0:05Speaker 1: he got it, and dangle he knows how to use it.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Mule four finger discounted.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Welcome to four finger Discount. Where this week we're going
- 0:31Speaker 3: all the way back to nineteen ninety three. We're a
- 0:34Speaker 3: young chap named Lyle Langley joined Springfield to Selomon Monorail.
- 0:38Speaker 3: It's marg versus the monail, and I'm.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Dando and I am guy. Yes, we're putting four finger
- 0:43Speaker 4: discount on the map.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Yes, there's nothing I know, but it don't even genuine man,
- 0:48Speaker 3: a genuine electrified six car monorway. I missed the word
- 0:50Speaker 3: down that we'll get that. Yes, we all can't. We
- 0:53Speaker 3: can't all be Lyle Landley. People consider this to be
- 0:55Speaker 3: the greatest episode of all time. It could definitely be
- 0:58Speaker 3: argued that it's up there. Yeah, it doesn't have emotion,
- 1:02Speaker 3: but it depends depends on what you want from a
- 1:04Speaker 3: Simpsons episode. If you just want laughs, this one could
- 1:07Speaker 3: easily be considered the greatest. A lot of people say,
- 1:09Speaker 3: you only move twice, is that their favorites use that's
- 1:11Speaker 3: just humor human It's just a zing zing Zinger. I
- 1:14Speaker 3: personally prefer a bit of emotion for my Simpsons episodes,
- 1:17Speaker 3: so I like a fair balance of that, which is
- 1:20Speaker 3: why I think episodes like Rosebud dare I say I probably.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I think I enjoyed this one more, But I think
- 1:27Speaker 3: I get more out of episodes like Rosebulb, which has
- 1:30Speaker 3: NonStop lasts but also a bit of an emotional call
- 1:32Speaker 3: to it.
- 1:32Speaker 4: I get where you're coming from. Yeah, but no, just
- 1:35Speaker 4: purely from a comic invention and comic ingenuity and comic
- 1:40Speaker 4: energy point of view. Yeah, I'd say this is certainly
- 1:44Speaker 4: in the top ten. One might even say top five.
- 1:48Speaker 4: What do you think all the time? Yeah, I was
- 1:50Speaker 4: top three. I think top three.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. But this is obviously there's a lot
- 1:56Speaker 3: of episodes of the Simpsons, you know this is, yeah,
- 1:58Speaker 3: there is.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:58Speaker 3: This is known as the Conan O'Brien episode. This is
- 2:01Speaker 3: the one that he's known mostly for. He's also done
- 2:03Speaker 3: Homer goes to college and a new kid on the block,
- 2:06Speaker 3: which has Laura Powers moving in next door. But this
- 2:08Speaker 3: is the one he'll be forever remembered for. He did
- 2:10Speaker 3: the have you seen him do?
- 2:11Speaker 4: The live song? Have you seen him?
- 2:12Speaker 3: Singing the live Yeah, he did like a live song
- 2:14Speaker 3: and dance and he's wearing the Lyle Lanley get up
- 2:16Speaker 3: and he's doing the the cane and the hate O'Brien.
- 2:19Speaker 3: What a guy, What a guy. Indeed, we are big
- 2:24Speaker 3: fans of Colon and O'Brien and the Dojo.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Now.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Of course, the reason we're going back and reviewing this
- 2:27Speaker 3: one is because you weren't part of the show Four
- 2:29Speaker 3: Fingers kept when we originally recorded Don't Remind Me of
- 2:31Speaker 3: the Day you have Marge versus the monorail. So we're
- 2:33Speaker 3: getting guys perspective on the episode, of course, But there's
- 2:36Speaker 3: everyone knows the stories of how it first came about.
- 2:38Speaker 3: You know, Conan was told don't pitch it, and then
- 2:40Speaker 3: they said, okay, well maybe you better go. And they
- 2:42Speaker 3: didn't think that James L. Brooks and make Greeny would
- 2:45Speaker 3: go for it. They loved it, so yeah, obviously happened.
- 2:48Speaker 3: But he got the idea from seeing the billboard about
- 2:51Speaker 3: a monorail coming and he's like, that's hilarious, that that's
- 2:54Speaker 3: something that would be right up Springfield's alley. And apparently
- 2:56Speaker 3: the original idea was to get George to kai in
- 2:59Speaker 3: to do this episode, and he turned it down because
- 3:01Speaker 3: he worked just randomly. It just happened to work onlike
- 3:04Speaker 3: the monorail foundation of whatever, and so he was like, well,
- 3:08Speaker 3: I'm not doing this because you're taking a pie out
- 3:09Speaker 3: of monorails.
- 3:11Speaker 4: George nods offside his bread's buttered on, yes.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Entering Leonard Nimoy for one of the most iconic guest
- 3:16Speaker 3: appearances of all time, which is I always see this
- 3:19Speaker 3: episode as the pinpoint, and it's been discussed by those
- 3:22Speaker 3: working on the show. This is the point where they realized, Okay,
- 3:24Speaker 3: all bets are off, we can kind of do what
- 3:25Speaker 3: we want now. They didn't think because that Matt Grandy
- 3:28Speaker 3: always said, I wanted to keep the series grounded in
- 3:31Speaker 3: a sense of realism. You know, of course, it's an
- 3:33Speaker 3: animated series. You can break the rules of physics from
- 3:36Speaker 3: here some time to time, but let's try and keep
- 3:38Speaker 3: it somewhat realistic. And Leonard Nemoy disappearing at the end,
- 3:43Speaker 3: they thought he's never going to go for this. He
- 3:45Speaker 3: loved it, the audiences loved it. It worked, and they're like,
- 3:48Speaker 3: we can go with it now.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Absolutely, Look, I see where Graining is coming from. And
- 3:51Speaker 4: he's one hundred percent correct. And yeah, you need to
- 3:53Speaker 4: have that emotional foundation, you need to have a degree
- 3:56Speaker 4: of recognizability characters you can relate to situations you can.
- 4:00Speaker 4: But also, yeah, as you said, you're working in an
- 4:02Speaker 4: animated medium, take advantage of all that, all the opportunities
- 4:06Speaker 4: that provides. And this does on so many levels. I mean, yes, yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 4: the physics of the monorail just going out of control
- 4:12Speaker 4: like Nimoy at the end as well.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, it's fantastic, It's just full of I
- 4:17Speaker 3: was surprised at how much I forgot how many pop
- 4:19Speaker 3: culture references we're in this, even for the get go.
- 4:21Speaker 3: You get the Flintstone song at the start, You've got
- 4:24Speaker 3: the Beverly Hills theme playing. You've got him rocking up
- 4:27Speaker 3: just as Hannibal Lapter. You've got the Batman theme when
- 4:29Speaker 3: he's shooting out as mister Snrub. I'm like, there are
- 4:32Speaker 3: so many pop culture references here that don't I guess
- 4:35Speaker 3: the Flintstones one steps you in the face, but the
- 4:37Speaker 3: everyones don't.
- 4:38Speaker 4: That's the one that kind of like I'm not sure
- 4:40Speaker 4: how I how big a fan I am of this,
- 4:43Speaker 4: And maybe because it just feels a bit on the nose,
- 4:45Speaker 4: even though yeah, I'm a Fred Flintstone guy because you know,
- 4:49Speaker 4: in the day comes and I'm very much yabada, but
- 4:50Speaker 4: do and get out of here.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Well, the Flintstones thing has absolutely nothing to do with
- 4:54Speaker 3: the story. No, it's just this would be funny, and
- 4:58Speaker 3: I think.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Sometimes we take issue that it's like, what's the connection
- 5:01Speaker 4: of this. It's a bunch of stuff that happens. If
- 5:05Speaker 4: it's stuff that happens, that's good. Yeah, we like that,
- 5:08Speaker 4: and it's memorable and it's short, correct, Yes, it's in
- 5:11Speaker 4: and out. Yeah, because not like that episode where they
- 5:13Speaker 4: took on the Prisoner. It was an entire act and
- 5:14Speaker 4: you're like, what the hell is going on here? Yeah?
- 5:17Speaker 4: Plus you know, Glindstones has a little more sort of
- 5:20Speaker 4: so we say, shall we say cultural impact than The Prisoner,
- 5:23Speaker 4: which is the show I really dig.
- 5:24Speaker 3: But it was watched by memby six people, and without Flintstones,
- 5:27Speaker 3: there's no Simpsons very much. So oh god, yeah, because
- 5:30Speaker 3: that was the last real successful animated primetime show I think, I imagine.
- 5:35Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, but what were your thoughts go back,
- 5:38Speaker 3: going back and revisiting this one? What compared so your
- 5:40Speaker 3: memory is going into it? So were you excited to
- 5:42Speaker 3: go back and revisit this one?
- 5:43Speaker 5: Oh?
- 5:43Speaker 4: Sure, yeah, yeah, it'd have been a while since I've
- 5:45Speaker 4: watched it. As good an episode as this is, it's
- 5:49Speaker 4: not one that's sort of, as they say, lives rent
- 5:52Speaker 4: free in my head, yeah, there are certain there are
- 5:54Speaker 4: certain parts that was like, of course, yeah, so yeah,
- 5:57Speaker 4: I was skinned to go back and sort of think,
- 5:58Speaker 4: well does this stand up? And yeah, look, for the
- 6:01Speaker 4: most part it does. Absolutely, Yeah, I think Lol. Langley
- 6:03Speaker 4: is just a fantastic character in conception and execution. I
- 6:09Speaker 4: was also really pleasantly surprised how much Quimby there was
- 6:12Speaker 4: in this. I'm just I'm voke Quimby, so you know,
- 6:15Speaker 4: as for them to be as much as there was
- 6:17Speaker 4: in this, it was marvelous.
- 6:18Speaker 3: But I along to spoil my favorite moments because I
- 6:20Speaker 3: found that I enjoyed stuff that I never used to
- 6:23Speaker 3: enjoy or maybe just sort of missed. You know, it
- 6:26Speaker 3: was there but didn't really tick on me as much.
- 6:28Speaker 3: But you know, as a kid, I enjoyed that the
- 6:30Speaker 3: iconic stuff, you know, like he's not Batman and that
- 6:33Speaker 3: kind of stuff. Here, I'm like, forget the pig. Give
- 6:35Speaker 3: me how many brides do I get.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that that relationship between you and Quimby
- 6:44Speaker 4: was just.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Because they comes out of nowhere too, because you ever
- 6:48Speaker 3: see him fight two comely lashes of virtual true forget
- 6:52Speaker 3: the pig get and little things like no, those bald
- 6:57Speaker 3: children are starting to arouse suspicion to the park.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Well, well, should we just jump into favorite moments?
- 7:03Speaker 3: I mean, oh, there's so much to discuss the really yeah. Yeah,
- 7:05Speaker 3: but we haven't touched on Phil Hartman yet of course.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Oh look, I mean, is this his most iconic performance, Nah, tropicla.
- 7:13Speaker 4: Besides the two sort of foundational characters or or semi
- 7:17Speaker 4: regulars or recurring characters that he was known for Lionel
- 7:19Speaker 4: Hearts and Troy McClure. Yeah, I mean, this is the
- 7:22Speaker 4: primo guest performance, I guess.
- 7:24Speaker 3: But yeah, it's so I feel dubious saying it's so
- 7:29Speaker 3: quintessentially feel like him, but he gave off that vibe
- 7:33Speaker 3: like you did know him. You can visualize him playing
- 7:36Speaker 3: this live. Oh yeah, absolutely, Yeah.
- 7:39Speaker 4: I think that's one of the great aspects of this
- 7:42Speaker 4: very sympatico relationship that the Simpsons creators and Phil Hartman had.
- 7:46Speaker 4: It's like, this will work because Phil does it. I
- 7:49Speaker 4: mean this would this would work with with another guest
- 7:51Speaker 4: actor by all means. I mean I'm pretty sure at
- 7:54Speaker 4: this stage of the game, not that they had their
- 7:56Speaker 4: choice of like we could get anyone to play l Lanley,
- 7:59Speaker 4: but it's like Phili just crushed this. Phil will just
- 8:02Speaker 4: make this to use a Molten favorite term, iconic. Yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 4: and he really did. I mean it just works so well.
- 8:08Speaker 4: I mean, of course it's a play on the music
- 8:10Speaker 4: man on the character from that and who's this sort
- 8:12Speaker 4: of flemplay artist. Phil just nails it. It's so and
- 8:18Speaker 4: you can't help but like, yeah, I'd buy a monorail
- 8:20Speaker 4: from this guy. He's so charming.
- 8:22Speaker 3: It's so persuasive, charming and intelligent to in a sense
- 8:25Speaker 3: that Lisa tries to get him and he out smarts Lisa.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Lisa, Yeah, so that was That's fantastic. I mean, there's
- 8:35Speaker 4: not much more you can say other than just yeah,
- 8:37Speaker 4: this is It's a really great performance. Hundred percent. Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Because the other sort of one time characters he does
- 8:43Speaker 3: Tom from the Brother from the Same Planet. I think
- 8:46Speaker 3: it's the Pepsi Pepi Barke gets that the bigger brother,
- 8:51Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and him and have the fight at the end.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I think it's more than it looks.
- 9:00Speaker 3: He did the American Embassy graph and the Australia Eric Yeah, yeah,
- 9:05Speaker 3: and plenty of thiss, but yeah, this is the This
- 9:07Speaker 3: is the quintessential one time I on the appearance by
- 9:10Speaker 3: Phil Harmon.
- 9:11Speaker 4: But let's get the favorite moments.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Go for it. My favorite, I think there are yeah,
- 9:15Speaker 3: there are a lot in there that, yeah, just so
- 9:17Speaker 3: memorable that people were just quite chapter verse.
- 9:19Speaker 4: And that's fine, that's great. I found there were little
- 9:22Speaker 4: bits and pieces and that just really tickled me. That
- 9:26Speaker 4: was so that was well, really throw away. I've forgotten
- 9:30Speaker 4: if it's when Marge is actually talking about this the
- 9:33Speaker 4: terrible state of main Street and how there are huge
- 9:36Speaker 4: potholes and everything like that. It's the popcorn band.
- 9:44Speaker 3: And it's it's like wise guy voice, which, as you know,
- 9:46Speaker 3: is just one of my favorites.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Well, I'm the same, but I'm at the end where
- 9:50Speaker 4: it's just like the escalator that.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Way, it's sort of felt like a bit of a
- 9:54Speaker 3: callback with it.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Everyone's different again, just it's a one line, but this
- 10:01Speaker 4: just I actually had to stop for a second, like
- 10:04Speaker 4: I'm going to be laughing in this at least ten seconds. Yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 4: it's a lot. It's a Landley song, but you know
- 10:09Speaker 4: everyone's doing the call and response. Yeah, planners monarel. What's
- 10:14Speaker 4: that word? Did someone do?
- 10:19Speaker 3: Brilliant? Such a catchy song, isn't it?
- 10:24Speaker 4: Look heap of quimby moments? H How are we going
- 10:28Speaker 4: to spend this two million? Do you mean to? Of
- 10:30Speaker 4: course tried. I think it gives the Florida Lands. I'll
- 10:38Speaker 4: distract myself with these pornographic playing cards. What a lovely
- 10:42Speaker 4: pre internet time. It's like.
- 10:47Speaker 3: If you wanted your cheap, brilliant thrills, you had to
- 10:50Speaker 3: get one of those pens.
- 10:50Speaker 4: It was like or just like a deck of cards
- 10:57Speaker 4: with women in various stages of undressed.
- 10:59Speaker 3: So I had a see, there's wrestling cards on the
- 11:01Speaker 3: wall there, right, I had some they're not up there out,
- 11:04Speaker 3: but there was motion ones right that I never forget.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I remember opening the pack and getting it right there.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Used to be a wrestler in the nineties called Sable.
- 11:11Speaker 3: She's now married to brock Lesner, right, and she she
- 11:14Speaker 3: was in Playboy and whatnot. But she once had a
- 11:16Speaker 3: bikini contest. This is what wrestling was like in the nineties.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Bikini contest, and we have women wrestlings bikini contest, and
- 11:21Speaker 3: she took off her shirt and she had black handprints
- 11:23Speaker 3: over her nipples, basically over her breast right. I remember
- 11:26Speaker 3: I had this motion card of her taking your shirt off,
- 11:29Speaker 3: and I was like, that was my little polygraph, like
- 11:31Speaker 3: Mom's not looking well, I've still got it somewhere, but
- 11:35Speaker 3: I remember getting that and going damn.
- 11:41Speaker 4: There are many times when I've said I use this
- 11:43Speaker 4: phrase a lot in my everyday life, and I forgoten
- 11:45Speaker 4: where it came from. Usually I'm talking about South Park
- 11:47Speaker 4: and this guy's I'm talking about the Simpsons. Whenever I'm
- 11:50Speaker 4: sort of coming up rough, like after I may have
- 11:53Speaker 4: had one or too many glass of one the night before,
- 11:55Speaker 4: I tend to say I spent last.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Night in a ditch. It's lightly lumbod Yeah, showing up
- 12:01Speaker 3: at the Mona Doris Grouse voice lunch. Yeah, I spent
- 12:05Speaker 3: last name in that ditch. And after you, because I
- 12:07Speaker 3: think I watched this before I saw Colonel Homer, so
- 12:10Speaker 3: I didn't really know who I was when I first
- 12:12Speaker 3: watched it. He watched Colonel Homer.
- 12:15Speaker 4: No, she's living rough again, just a little throwaway bit,
- 12:22Speaker 4: but it's like, oh, the sentences used to do this.
- 12:24Speaker 4: It used to be great. They have Homer's dream what
- 12:28Speaker 4: to be the monoail conducted like, well your dream used
- 12:31Speaker 4: to be running naked onto the on the baseball field,
- 12:34Speaker 4: cut to the the but also.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Just had that in.
- 12:40Speaker 4: It just adds a little bit of.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Checks and it says I was one of my trivia questions,
- 12:43Speaker 3: I spoil. It's just a springfield forfeits pen just one
- 12:47Speaker 3: of the quimomy moments. What what is the chief? We
- 12:51Speaker 3: can say I got phones that could be anybody's ass. Yes,
- 12:54Speaker 3: but this was probably the bit that I liked the most.
- 12:58Speaker 3: When omens trying to sweet talk Marge and he's like, yeah,
- 13:03Speaker 3: more about what am I saying? Once you been married
- 13:09Speaker 3: for like ten years and kids, it's just like what works?
- 13:12Speaker 4: Just try everything you know you do the little side.
- 13:16Speaker 4: I was like, oh, yeah, we're getting busy. Yeah, I
- 13:19Speaker 4: got to strategize.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Sometimes, you know, I'll walk into Nickel in the kitchen,
- 13:22Speaker 3: you know, slip on the bar or do something, and
- 13:25Speaker 3: she sort of she doesn't look like she hates it.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I'm like, all right, this could be a chance. Here's
- 13:32Speaker 3: the ball and try and run with it.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Next question you there eating the paste.
- 13:37Speaker 3: To be your time, to be your time. Indeed, by
- 13:40Speaker 3: the way you there eating the paste forgot this?
- 13:44Speaker 4: Yeah. My first question for you? How many times has up?
- 13:48Speaker 4: Who been shot? Eight times? Eight times?
- 13:51Speaker 3: What was the seat for Lyle Lanley when they in
- 13:54Speaker 3: North having book when they attacked him? He was nine
- 13:56Speaker 3: f No was it was seat three F? I believe
- 13:59Speaker 3: it three F words closing it.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Was seed three F three F. Okay, we got the
- 14:05Speaker 4: f right. Speaking of Lyle, they I thought they were
- 14:10Speaker 4: only going to allude.
- 14:11Speaker 3: To it once. They allude to it another time, so you'll.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Probably get this. But where was Lyle going with his
- 14:16Speaker 4: bags of money when.
- 14:16Speaker 3: What was my favorite book? Could have said that it
- 14:18Speaker 3: was not favorite book? I was going to to he sorry, yes,
- 14:21Speaker 3: he stopped over in a favorite book. Yes, it's my question?
- 14:24Speaker 4: Is that name? Marge drove to North? Favorite book?
- 14:27Speaker 6: How fun?
- 14:27Speaker 4: Did had this play?
- 14:28Speaker 3: Mean flying?
- 14:32Speaker 5: Plus?
- 14:33Speaker 4: You will forgive lapses of shall we ay credibility in
- 14:38Speaker 4: a fun episode more so than you will in a
- 14:40Speaker 4: bad episode, in an episode that's a bit lack last year,
- 14:43Speaker 4: we'll go, yeah, but what about this? They should have
- 14:45Speaker 4: explained that away with this? You go, how did the
- 14:48Speaker 4: North Favor book. People know which seat. I don't care,
- 14:52Speaker 4: just go with it. Yes, all right, Am I asking
- 14:56Speaker 4: you a question? Ask you one.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Yes. When the sticker wears off at the Monoail, where
- 14:59Speaker 3: was it from? It was the New York World's fin
- 15:02Speaker 3: nineteen sixty four four World's Fair world Spare Sorry, yes,
- 15:06Speaker 3: I mean the Sun's Fin. N I mean the Whigsphere.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Who was the celebrity on the North Haveberbrook Maiden Voyage
- 15:15Speaker 4: of the Monorail?
- 15:16Speaker 3: Ah Bugger, I should know this, damn it?
- 15:19Speaker 4: What is it? Gallagher? We're a Gallagher?
- 15:22Speaker 3: No, I'm not ies at the comedian. Yeah, he hits
- 15:25Speaker 3: the watermelons.
- 15:26Speaker 4: I couldn't tell you a single joke Gallagher tell yes,
- 15:30Speaker 4: but Gallagher will smash watermelons with a sledge.
- 15:34Speaker 3: We discussed it because he was on a Simpsons episode
- 15:36Speaker 3: and then we had to do a deep dive and
- 15:37Speaker 3: who Gallagher was?
- 15:39Speaker 4: Like that guy anyway?
- 15:40Speaker 3: But yeah, he was the celebrity on the maiden voyage.
- 15:44Speaker 3: My final question is how old it is Kyle Darren?
- 15:48Speaker 4: He's he's thirty four. Yes? Who was the Dash Calhoun?
- 15:53Speaker 4: Dash Calhoun was recently out of the closet. I was

- 16:08Speaker 3: just have Hollywood names. It's not bad. It's not Guy

- 17:52Speaker 7: Do it?
- 17:53Speaker 4: Yes?
- 17:54Speaker 3: That's the thing that I was going to make a
- 17:56Speaker 3: video or mean or real whatever, things that like nineties
- 18:00Speaker 3: kids would get that anyone was born after like two
- 18:03Speaker 3: thousand and five would have no idea. So it was
- 18:05Speaker 3: Liz Lise do it. Things that we quote from movies
- 18:09Speaker 3: and kids would have not I first, not to anyone
- 18:11Speaker 3: under the age of twenty five, They go, what the
- 18:12Speaker 3: hell are you talking about? Oh?
- 18:13Speaker 4: Yeah, well, how many times we've talked about when we
- 18:16Speaker 4: had wonderful guests, yeah on our show, and they'll be
- 18:20Speaker 4: trying to indoctrinate their kids into the way of Simpsons
- 18:23Speaker 4: or something, and they will drop a line that any
- 18:26Speaker 4: one of a certain yeah demo will instantly get.
- 18:30Speaker 3: It's like, you don't get my Simpsons references? Come on?
- 18:33Speaker 3: I felt so old. I remember were back in the
- 18:35Speaker 3: pop culture offices. There was a lot of younger people,
- 18:37Speaker 3: and I remember someone. One of the customers there was Caroline.
- 18:41Speaker 3: I went Caroline, and they all to me like I
- 18:43Speaker 3: was crazy, and I was like, oh shit, I'm that old.
- 18:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:47Speaker 4: I remember dropping once like see because of me, they
- 18:51Speaker 4: have a warning. Yeah. It's like that sounds like a joke.
- 18:56Speaker 4: It's got the contours of a joke, but I don't
- 18:58Speaker 4: get it. All right.
- 19:01Speaker 3: So the original air date of My Address of the
- 19:03Speaker 3: Monoroum it was a January fourteenth, nineteen ninety three, thirty
- 19:08Speaker 3: three years ago this episode aired.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Can you believe it?
- 19:12Speaker 3: The top three films at the US box was number three,
- 19:14Speaker 3: sent of a woman from number fifteen to number three.
- 19:16Speaker 3: That is a skyrocketing climb.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Wow, that's the power of puccino. Yeah, and to a
- 19:20Speaker 4: letter extend the power Chrusodon.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Aladdin number two last week it was number one, and
- 19:25Speaker 3: a few good men from number two and points a
- 19:27Speaker 3: Laddin and a few good men battling it out, a
- 19:29Speaker 3: few good men. I bought it on four K the
- 19:31Speaker 3: recent JB sale. Still haven't watched and never seen it.
- 19:33Speaker 4: Never seen it.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Enjoy Yeah, good stuff, I know, obviously the main part.
- 19:37Speaker 3: But yes, well they pretty much blew the ending for
- 19:40Speaker 3: you right now. As I used to.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Say, we used to make things in this country.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Did top ten lepricorn lepracorns up there? What the hell
- 19:48Speaker 3: is Hoffer?
- 19:50Speaker 4: Are you aware of? The Union Leader? Jimmy Hoffer? That's
- 19:54Speaker 4: about Jimmy Hoffe A gast Darren Jack Nicholson and directed
- 19:57Speaker 4: by Danny DeVito. Wow, I never heard of it. Worth watching, It's.
- 20:02Speaker 3: All right, Yeah, it's one of its. It's released at
- 20:06Speaker 3: the end of the year. Very prestigious.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Let's get Jack and Oscar.
- 20:09Speaker 3: The JFK kind Yeah yeah, Chaplain was up there from
- 20:12Speaker 3: eighteen to seven, so you look Chaplain. Yeah, that was
- 20:15Speaker 3: j that's DJ yeap Home alone to Lost in New York. Yeah,
- 20:19Speaker 3: forever young, forever young. Don't know that one. That's Mel Gibson.
- 20:22Speaker 3: He was.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Certainly not Forever Young. No, well this is this is
- 20:28Speaker 4: a like peak handsome mel Okay, yeah, I think he
- 20:30Speaker 4: I think it's like a World War Yeah, it was
- 20:32Speaker 4: a World War two pilot. He got frozen or something
- 20:34Speaker 4: and then woken up in like them in the nineteen
- 20:38Speaker 4: nineties or something. That sounds awesome.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's sort of a romance.
- 20:43Speaker 4: But he's also it's got young Elijah Wood in it,
- 20:46Speaker 4: and young Olijah Woods is like the surrogate son something.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I remember the first time I saw him was in
- 20:50Speaker 3: that movie like the Other Brother or something. Good Son
- 20:53Speaker 3: good Son. Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah with McCauley is the
- 20:56Speaker 3: mom was like, he's the not good Son, She's she
- 21:00Speaker 3: makes the right choice.
- 21:00Speaker 4: You how to come on McCauley, You didn't.
- 21:02Speaker 3: And The Bodyguard Number Forced the number four Men. That
- 21:04Speaker 3: is a good list of movies, right, it really is
- 21:06Speaker 3: Holy smokes The Bodyguard of being the huge, huge hit
- 21:10Speaker 3: that it wore a fifteen dress bass.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Yeah it was top ten last week. So there we go.
- 21:15Speaker 4: You watched that end. I dropped it around it.
- 21:17Speaker 3: I have not watched it. It's sitting there because I
- 21:19Speaker 3: had to plug in my my U S Blu ray player,
- 21:21Speaker 3: had to get it allso up. We just had the
- 21:23Speaker 3: soundbar and the core for the TV in store behind
- 21:25Speaker 3: the wall. Looks so nice. Now I'm like, oh, yes.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Maybe send the kids to bed or put them up.
- 21:33Speaker 3: I watched one movies at night. Now I send Nicola
- 21:34Speaker 3: to the bed and I'll watch it. She liked Ricochet?
- 21:39Speaker 3: Would she like Trespass? Probably?
- 21:41Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 21:41Speaker 3: Okay, did you like Ricochet? She loved Ricchetpe all right,
- 21:46Speaker 3: so as I was saying yes. January fourteenth, nineteen ninety
- 21:49Speaker 3: three was the original edit of this iconic as Leonard
- 21:52Speaker 3: Malton would not say episode of The Simpsons, My Address
- 21:55Speaker 3: of the Monroel. It was directed by A Rich Moore,
- 21:57Speaker 3: written by as we've already discussed the own O'Brien and
- 22:01Speaker 3: it guest startled in any Moore and Phil harmon the chalkboard.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Gag.
- 22:04Speaker 3: I will not eat things for money. Now, this is
- 22:06Speaker 3: a thing from nineteen ninety three. The thing is, though now,
- 22:08Speaker 3: thirty years later, there are plenty of people who eat
- 22:10Speaker 3: things for my money.
- 22:12Speaker 4: Maybe they shouldn't. Yeah, there's I always had two things.
- 22:15Speaker 3: I'm like, I either want to get paid for watching
- 22:18Speaker 3: TV or get paid for eating We should.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Try and do both well. Correct. Yeah.
- 22:23Speaker 3: I mean I see KFC have a Parmi burger and
- 22:26Speaker 3: I was sort of doing a taste test video of
- 22:28Speaker 3: a Parmi burger and then I looked at it and
- 22:29Speaker 3: I was like, I thought it was going to be,
- 22:31Speaker 3: you know, different coat of chicken with like napping and
- 22:33Speaker 3: I was looking, you know what it is, it's a
- 22:36Speaker 3: all the times he's got a normal fill it, put
- 22:38Speaker 3: napoli sauce in it, and added two cheese sticks in
- 22:41Speaker 3: with it.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 3: I didn't like the look at that, and I was like, ah,
- 22:44Speaker 3: that's not really a Parmi berg. You just added something
- 22:46Speaker 3: to an already existing burger. But is my controversial take
- 22:50Speaker 3: on burgers. They should be wider, not taller, like what
- 22:55Speaker 3: we would define in Australia a burger with a lot
- 22:57Speaker 3: from the fish and chip shop. They're always thinner but
- 23:00Speaker 3: wide round. Yeah, yess So you're saying a quarter pounder
- 23:03Speaker 3: as opposed to a big Mac. I would say that
- 23:07Speaker 3: even though yeah, it makes me go down, Well though
- 23:09Speaker 3: they should. What's what your staples is a quarter pounder?
- 23:11Speaker 4: Right for me? Sure?
- 23:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I've had a big Mac for a long time.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Just McDonald's not my thing. But yeah, look at the
- 23:15Speaker 3: Palmy Berger and I was gonna get it last night
- 23:16Speaker 3: and looked at it and I went, I don't think
- 23:18Speaker 3: this looks like weldy know, just a cheese stick and
- 23:21Speaker 3: a burger. Just feels like, Oh, you haven't really gone,
- 23:23Speaker 3: you haven't been creative. You just added something to it
- 23:26Speaker 3: that's not us Too much of the Colonel and the
- 23:29Speaker 3: Couch gag is the Simpsons sit on the couch, one
- 23:31Speaker 3: of my favorite ones of all time, and all various
- 23:33Speaker 3: residents from Springfield come and joined them. So the episode
- 23:38Speaker 3: kicks off with as we discussed the Flintstones opening, which
- 23:41Speaker 3: has nothing to do with the opening, but there's a
- 23:43Speaker 3: little detail here that I'm assuming they did deliberately and
- 23:46Speaker 3: I appreciate it. The Flintstones is known had a Barbara cartoons.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I've known mostly for what when it comes to the
- 23:53Speaker 3: animation style, what sort of angular? Well, I should check
- 23:57Speaker 3: rephrase the question when things are moving, what's usually happened
- 24:00Speaker 3: when characters are moving along?
- 24:01Speaker 4: Oh, well, it's like the characters moving.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Or repeated backgrounds. Yeah, that's two or three frames repeat.
- 24:07Speaker 3: And when Homer's driving down there's three houses that just
- 24:09Speaker 3: get repeated. I wonder if they are just lazy or
- 24:12Speaker 3: that was a nod two flintstones.
- 24:14Speaker 4: Let's say it was a nod. I'm a loving tribute.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Okay, maybe an unexpected nod. Lenny and Carl are sealing
- 24:23Speaker 3: up some toxic waste and they do not eat. They
- 24:25Speaker 3: don't care where it's going. See, this is the thing.
- 24:28Speaker 3: They're sealing up toxic waste. And twenty years later was
- 24:31Speaker 3: it twenty years later?
- 24:32Speaker 7: No?
- 24:32Speaker 3: No, it was ten years later because I was doing
- 24:33Speaker 3: it with Mitch recently. Home is eating toxic waste and
- 24:35Speaker 3: I'm like, that's how quickly the show devolved. It's going
- 24:37Speaker 3: from we know this is dangerous to how we go
- 24:40Speaker 3: eat some toxic wastes? Come on guys, Beverly Hills themed
- 24:45Speaker 3: them plays and Smiths and Burns enter and they put
- 24:47Speaker 3: it on a trolley and they asked, he askewash? We
- 24:49Speaker 3: dump it the playground? No, those ball children arousing suspicion
- 24:52Speaker 3: to the park and they they're.
- 24:54Speaker 4: There jamming into trees.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Yeah, the last tree held how many drums? Nine nine drums? Indeed,
- 24:59Speaker 3: that's where you're I came from, not seat nine nine drums.
- 25:03Speaker 3: It's all John Lebon my brain. Yeah, and then the
- 25:05Speaker 3: squirrel a laser comes out of its eyes and shoots,
- 25:07Speaker 3: and I'll just go here. There is so much shit
- 25:09Speaker 3: going on here in this first minute that I feel
- 25:12Speaker 3: like if this was season twenty of The Simpsons, we'd
- 25:14Speaker 3: probably go squirrel having a laser, that's so stupid. But here,
- 25:17Speaker 3: as you were saying, when it's such a funny episode,
- 25:20Speaker 3: you just run with it. Then the EPA arrive, which
- 25:23Speaker 3: is a little nod to the Simpsons movie EPA EPA correct. Yeah,
- 25:27Speaker 3: and they've someoney crossed his little game of hide the Yeah,
- 25:31Speaker 3: what does that agent name himself?
- 25:34Speaker 1: He does?
- 25:34Speaker 4: I want to say Rex Morton, but that's not it.
- 25:36Speaker 4: Agent Malone. Wasn't it? Or Malone?
- 25:37Speaker 3: Yeah, let's talk Frinky I just to get it. Let's
- 25:39Speaker 3: we'll just look Agent Malone, Simpsons, Agent Malone, Simpsons. It's
- 25:42Speaker 3: usually a wiki page for everyone Agent Malone. Yeah, does
- 25:46Speaker 3: he had him? He does he appear in anything else? God,
- 25:49Speaker 3: the ads are wiki crazy? Only in my address in
- 25:51Speaker 3: the one. Yeah, that's his only appearance.
- 25:53Speaker 4: That's fine. He did a good job in showing up
- 25:56Speaker 4: when he did.
- 25:56Speaker 3: I feel like he could have been a character that
- 25:58Speaker 3: returns in various ways. Agent Alone. It reminds me of
- 26:01Speaker 3: a Rex Banner type. That's what I was thinking of, Yeah,
- 26:04Speaker 3: Rex Banner. But he says that Bird's being arrested. We
- 26:07Speaker 3: cut to Burns entering court as Hannibal.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Lecter by the way, Liberty and justice for most.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, Now the thing is things like the Hannibal
- 26:14Speaker 3: at the visual As a kid, I had no idea
- 26:17Speaker 3: what that was, you know, which is a funny thing,
- 26:18Speaker 3: as I was like, ah.
- 26:20Speaker 4: But still it's funny to see Burns come in all
- 26:21Speaker 4: sort of mummy mummified up.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, it's perfect. And he's been fined three million dollars.
- 26:27Speaker 3: So there's my wallet, is my pocket and I'll take
- 26:30Speaker 3: that statue of justice too, so old. Yes, then Homer's
- 26:33Speaker 3: read in the paper and Birds look smiling on the
- 26:35Speaker 3: way out. But Marge says they had to have a
- 26:36Speaker 3: town meeting and how they're going to spend all the money.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Lisa has her idea for virtual reality helmets where she
- 26:41Speaker 3: meets Genghis Khan.
- 26:43Speaker 4: Defile, what I defire? Eat who I eat? By the way,
- 26:47Speaker 4: two gags, and that may not have aged all that Well,
- 26:53Speaker 4: he's shouting he's maybe not condoning the actions of handicap
- 26:59Speaker 4: your wife be drunk. You were Andy Capital just a
- 27:05Speaker 4: four panel comic strip that ran in the newspapers. Andy
- 27:07Speaker 4: Cap was basically like this working class kind of I
- 27:11Speaker 4: think he was British and I don't think he ever
- 27:13Speaker 4: beat his wife, but he was kind of like, I'd
- 27:15Speaker 4: rather be down a pub.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Andy Kapp is a British comic strip created by cartoonist
- 27:19Speaker 3: Red smythe Smith, seen in the Daily Mirror and the
- 27:23Speaker 3: Sunday Mirror newspapers since fifth of August nineteen still still
- 27:27Speaker 3: going nineteen fifty seven. Originally a single panel cartoon, it
- 27:29Speaker 3: was later expanded to four panels syndicated internationally.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:33Speaker 3: The character is also licensed as the mascot for a
- 27:35Speaker 3: line of snack foods. Okay, the picture is him being
- 27:41Speaker 3: dragged by his wife.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Yeah, he's kind of I think he's kind of a
- 27:44Speaker 4: hen pecked husband, even though he thinks like he's the
- 27:47Speaker 4: he doesn't. Yeah, it was it. I wear the pants,
- 27:49Speaker 4: she owns them. Something like, yeah, oh Andy Capp, you
- 27:54Speaker 4: wave beating drunk.
- 27:55Speaker 3: And that's one of those things where I always just
- 27:57Speaker 3: you know, I know what it was talking about, but
- 28:00Speaker 3: it's just funny.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Plus, this is how we used to make cartoons in
- 28:05Speaker 4: this society, Andy Cap is just a gentleman wearing a
- 28:07Speaker 4: big cap. Yes, but that's maybe not so bad.
- 28:12Speaker 3: But homer suggestion is maybe a giant billboard that says
- 28:16Speaker 3: no fat checks. I can imagine that's slate in the
- 28:18Speaker 3: writer's room that was used quite frequently the Simpsons. Oh yeah,
- 28:26Speaker 3: well at least twice. Yeah, no fat cheeks. But the
- 28:31Speaker 3: nineties was such a weird time in that you know,
- 28:33Speaker 3: you had you know, dick head dude sort of parading
- 28:35Speaker 3: rabbit t shirts said no fat checks.
- 28:37Speaker 4: It's crazy, what the hell is going on? And then
- 28:40Speaker 4: you would have presumingly seemingly enlightened people like the our
- 28:45Speaker 4: pals from the Simpsons writers room who had been on
- 28:48Speaker 4: this show and seemed like rational people. It's Homer saying it,
- 28:52Speaker 4: who are probably saying, yeah, they're home, is the kind
- 28:57Speaker 4: of person who would say this. But it was a
- 28:59Speaker 4: giant billboard the sex practiction. But I can't believe that.
- 29:03Speaker 3: It was just such a prevalent saying in the in society,
- 29:06Speaker 3: no fat chicks. Yeah, same thing. As I watched this
- 29:08Speaker 3: with Nikola, and Nicola laughed to ask off for that.
- 29:10Speaker 3: If she's laughing, I'm allowed to laugh at it, but
- 29:13Speaker 3: then but also wants giant mechanical answer to destroy to
- 29:15Speaker 3: school and kills Seamos Skinner. Then it's time for the
- 29:17Speaker 3: town meeting and everyone it's pretty field to showed up
- 29:20Speaker 3: except for the criminals. Compare this to our recent episode,
- 29:23Speaker 3: So could his town being he's stupider compared to I
- 29:26Speaker 3: can't wait to poo on their floor?
- 29:28Speaker 4: What listen for.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Those who haven't heard one of our recent reviews. So
- 29:33Speaker 3: we did Squirt in the Whale, and it starts off
- 29:35Speaker 3: with the family going to an expo, so they leave
- 29:37Speaker 3: the lights on so they robbers don't think they're home,
- 29:40Speaker 3: and Snake's like, ooh, it was idiots. I can't they think.
- 29:44Speaker 3: I don't know, I can't wait to go down and
- 29:45Speaker 3: pool on their floor. I'm like, what is Abby?
- 29:48Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure there have been actual burglars who have
- 29:50Speaker 4: done that.
- 29:51Speaker 3: No sneak robs things, and he doesn't poo on floors.
- 29:55Speaker 3: It feels like the guy that's like, I say, this
- 29:57Speaker 3: sounds silly, a professional criminal. He knows what he wants.
- 30:00Speaker 3: He goes in and getship done, doesn't shop on the floor,
- 30:02Speaker 3: just get ship done. He's like de Niro and heat,
- 30:04Speaker 3: Yes exactly, Yeah. Would you would you be DeNiro? Would
- 30:08Speaker 3: you be the guy that God bruns wild? It'll be
- 30:10Speaker 3: Wayne Grow That's not that's.
- 30:13Speaker 4: The most insulting thing you've ever said to me, Wayne Grow.
- 30:16Speaker 3: I would be like size more. What a name, Wayne Grow?
- 30:19Speaker 3: It just sounds like the guy that would just lose
- 30:21Speaker 3: his ship, Like what are you doing? You never get
- 30:24Speaker 3: a way and grow in your in your heist. So
- 30:27Speaker 3: they're gonna figure out way to spend the two million dollars.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Don't you mean three million dollars?
- 30:31Speaker 4: Of course, yeah, I'll tell your me.
- 30:34Speaker 3: More suggests fix up the fire on the east side
- 30:36Speaker 3: of the town. Mister snrub arrives and the way Snrub
- 30:42Speaker 3: thinks and they realize it's burned. So Batman yeap, he
- 30:46Speaker 3: gets out. Then a Poo wants more police who has
- 30:48Speaker 3: been shot eight times this year and almost missed work,
- 30:51Speaker 3: and then grabb byby then March is a plan and
- 30:53Speaker 3: Qumb's gonna entertain himself with as you're saying, the pornographic
- 30:56Speaker 3: playing cards. And she points out that main Street is
- 30:59Speaker 3: all cracked and broken because people like Homer driving down
- 31:02Speaker 3: the street with giant grand pianos on the roof, and
- 31:04Speaker 3: there's potholes which caused the popcorn to explode when it
- 31:07Speaker 3: goes inside, and whatnot. And they really like the idea,
- 31:10Speaker 3: don't they? Sure?
- 31:11Speaker 4: Grandpa interrupts, Well, first of all, he's interrupting.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Sarcastic, we could do all that in the town, so like, yeah,
- 31:16Speaker 3: we couldn't do He's not for it, he gets it,
- 31:19Speaker 3: and then again then Lyle Lanley a lot before though
- 31:23Speaker 3: before Lanley interrupts, Quimy says all four Grandpa's idea to
- 31:26Speaker 3: fix and Landie interrupts, and what's the first thing?
- 31:32Speaker 4: He says?
- 31:33Speaker 3: A town with money is like a mule with a
- 31:35Speaker 3: spinning where Garton dan but he knows how to use it.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Mule.
- 31:43Speaker 3: But that's that sort of representation of like when you
- 31:46Speaker 3: keep watching some Simpsons jokes, you're like, I don't really
- 31:48Speaker 3: know why that's funny, but that words funny, funny words.
- 31:54Speaker 3: But he uses Chobby Rullers the comparison, that's a good
- 31:56Speaker 3: way of getting these guys suck absolutely ay that what
- 32:00Speaker 3: to do?
- 32:00Speaker 4: Yeah, oh god, comparison there's yeah, absolutely absolute winner in
- 32:03Speaker 4: that regard.
- 32:04Speaker 3: That's mo shall be the ladea. What is the Simpsons
- 32:07Speaker 3: quite where they go. He'll know what to do.
- 32:09Speaker 4: What is that? That's gabbo, gabbo, gabbo.
- 32:12Speaker 3: He'll know what to do. He'll tell us what He'll
- 32:14Speaker 3: tell us what to do. Yes, and he reveals the model,
- 32:19Speaker 3: the scale model. He's gone to all lengths to suck minute.
- 32:21Speaker 3: I've never seen a full length scale model like this
- 32:24Speaker 3: of like you know, when they're building a we're going
- 32:26Speaker 3: to build a new national park wherever, and to have
- 32:27Speaker 3: the scale model.
- 32:29Speaker 4: It would be great if they still did that. Nowadays
- 32:31Speaker 4: you're getting pitched dishes and VR and yeah, AI and
- 32:35Speaker 4: all men are of other rects. I'm saying that though.
- 32:37Speaker 3: We went to this Star Wars Lego World kind of
- 32:39Speaker 3: display in Melbourne about six months ago and they had
- 32:43Speaker 3: like you know, hoff An end Or and it was
- 32:46Speaker 3: like you know, three meters by three meters and it
- 32:47Speaker 3: was all Lego, but it was like it was like this,
- 32:49Speaker 3: it was like a scale one. I was like, this
- 32:51Speaker 3: is awesome. It's just like Little Beware and had the
- 32:53Speaker 3: Ewok village and the death style. You can reach out
- 32:56Speaker 3: and touch it. Yeah you shouldn't touch it. Yeah, kids
- 32:59Speaker 3: kids touched it. So then we get the iconic monorail song.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Well, sir, there's nothing on earth like a genuine bona
- 33:07Speaker 1: fide electrified six car monorail.
- 33:10Speaker 5: What I say, monorail? What's it called?
- 33:13Speaker 2: Monil?
- 33:13Speaker 5: That's right, monorail.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I hear those things are awfully loud.
- 33:20Speaker 5: It rides as softly as a cloud.
- 33:22Speaker 6: Is there a chance the track could bet?
- 33:24Speaker 5: Not on your life? My Hindu friend.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Water brought us.
- 33:27Speaker 5: Brendan slams you'll be given cushy jobs? Were you shent
- 33:31Speaker 5: here by the table? No good sir, I'm on the level.
- 33:34Speaker 6: The ring came off my pudding can take.
- 33:37Speaker 1: My penknife, My good man, I swear at Springfield's only choice.
- 33:40Speaker 5: Throw up your hands and raise your voice. What's it called?
- 33:45Speaker 5: Once again? A matrix to walk craft and broken time?
- 33:53Speaker 5: On the money is spoken?
- 34:03Speaker 3: Mano, don't What is there that to be said about
- 34:07Speaker 3: the monovassona hasnt already been said?
- 34:09Speaker 4: The song said at all? Yeah, it's I'm presuming you
- 34:11Speaker 4: just played it.
- 34:11Speaker 3: I couldn't play the whole thing because then that it
- 34:13Speaker 3: could come right yestead of getting for us.
- 34:15Speaker 4: But okay, what we'll do it? Mon Yeah? When I
- 34:20Speaker 4: have vivid.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Memories of my dad laughing his ass off at the
- 34:23Speaker 3: home a.
- 34:24Speaker 4: Bit at the end.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Yeah, do you have memories of like of Bobby yelling
- 34:27Speaker 3: or laughing and anything funny on.
- 34:29Speaker 4: TV when you were a kid. No, my father was
- 34:31Speaker 4: a singularly humorous man. But when I do, we're talking
- 34:37Speaker 4: about parents laughing and stuff. Though two occasions seeing movies
- 34:40Speaker 4: with my mum, we went to see a double feature
- 34:43Speaker 4: of Pink Panther movies. I think it would Return and
- 34:45Speaker 4: Revenge of the Pink Panther, and Mum.
- 34:47Speaker 3: Was just slain.
- 34:48Speaker 4: She would see this thought spectacle. So it was the
- 34:51Speaker 4: funniest motherfucker. And another time, this is problematic, so cancel
- 34:57Speaker 4: Margaret Mary. But we went to see the Woody Allen
- 34:59Speaker 4: movie Hannah. Her sisters and my mom had recently had
- 35:03Speaker 4: like a hearing test. You had this thing called many
- 35:05Speaker 4: as where it sort of affects your anywhere and affects
- 35:07Speaker 4: your balance, and she had to have these hearing tests,
- 35:10Speaker 4: and Woody Allen's character in the same movie has to
- 35:12Speaker 4: do something similar. Here's a scene where he's like any
- 35:14Speaker 4: hearing both and has to sort of raise a finger
- 35:15Speaker 4: when he hears something no one else in the.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Theater is really laughing at. Just it's kind of a throwaway. Yeah,
- 35:20Speaker 3: because he's sort of pulling a bit of a funny face.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Mom just thought it was the funniest fact. She's laughing
- 35:24Speaker 3: loud than anyone in the cinema, and I was seeming embarrassed,
- 35:27Speaker 3: but Semi's just so.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Stoked that my mom was so happy.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I was like that with my mom and sister and
- 35:32Speaker 3: I went to see the Muppets movie, the twenty and
- 35:34Speaker 3: eleven one, right, and when the chickens came out and
- 35:36Speaker 3: saying that forget you by see, like, my mom thought
- 35:40Speaker 3: it was a fucking funny thing in the world. And
- 35:41Speaker 3: I I just remember, I'm like, I don't care that
- 35:43Speaker 3: no one has really found my mom had it funny.
- 35:45Speaker 3: I just like seeing my mom just in a state
- 35:46Speaker 3: of joy. Oh yeah, it's one of the great delights
- 35:49Speaker 3: in laugh when your parents just cracked up like something.
- 35:53Speaker 3: But they're on the way home. And that of course
- 35:54Speaker 3: got over the pooles in Main Street.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Oh by the way, sorry, I forgot there was another
- 35:58Speaker 4: quimulin that I left this out of my favorite moms
- 36:00Speaker 4: as well. Just tell us your idea and we'll we'll
- 36:03Speaker 4: vote for it.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Yes, so march As we should have spent the money
- 36:06Speaker 3: on Main Street and said we should have written a
- 36:09Speaker 3: song like that guy. Then he's at school. Now he's
- 36:11Speaker 3: trying to pitch to the kids. Why is there trying
- 36:13Speaker 3: to pitch it to the kids. I have no idea,
- 36:15Speaker 3: just so. I think it's just so they can they
- 36:17Speaker 3: had needed at that moment where he out convinces Lisa.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Yeah, pretty much. It seems like it's already a done deal.
- 36:22Speaker 4: Why was he still on the sales?
- 36:24Speaker 3: I think I need to show that this guy's on
- 36:25Speaker 3: another level. Even Lisa gets sucked in by I guess
- 36:28Speaker 3: see will forgive lapses in logic. Yeah, miss Hoover, I
- 36:33Speaker 3: find that hard to believe. This is so this year
- 36:36Speaker 3: is a Phil Hartman scene. Oh god, yeah, and yeah,
- 36:40Speaker 3: just non stop. Yeah, it's fantastic. How he's just charming
- 36:44Speaker 3: everyone is eating out of his hand.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Happen in the flash?
- 36:47Speaker 3: Yeah sure whatever, But yeah, the why would a mass
- 36:52Speaker 3: transit system in a small town with centralized population?
- 36:54Speaker 4: Why would we do this?
- 36:55Speaker 3: And he's like, that's intelligent question.
- 36:57Speaker 4: Actually even your t Yeah, brilliant, brilliantly Lanley.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Then it's Marlon Brando voice Truck of Saurus, celebrity voice impersonal.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Now they did the same joke twice here, so celebrity
- 37:11Speaker 3: voice in person. That's right, yea, And Homer sees the
- 37:12Speaker 3: ad for the monoail conductor class at Lyland Institute. It's
- 37:15Speaker 3: like not to be here again. But they did a
- 37:17Speaker 3: lot of those. I mean, I still use this day.
- 37:19Speaker 4: I've forgotten what it's from, but anytime I'd say, that's
- 37:22Speaker 4: the Davis guarantee. Not a guarantee, that's on the citizens. Yeah,
- 37:26Speaker 4: that's what I mean. I'm trying to remember what that's wrong. Yeah,
- 37:29Speaker 4: but some not a guarantee, it's so good.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Not a guarantee.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Is that really?
- 37:34Speaker 3: Quickly bit of and like, yeah, nothing found here we go.
- 37:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it's scratchy, Lady Bv's lover.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Each one is absolutely positive one hundred guaranteed to increase
- 37:43Speaker 3: in value.
- 37:44Speaker 4: Not a guarantee, but yeah, celebrity boy.
- 37:49Speaker 3: I mean, this is nineteen ninety three.
- 37:52Speaker 4: Try because Brando had been off the scene but quite
- 37:55Speaker 4: some time, but still recognize like one of the great actors.
- 37:57Speaker 4: But I think he was sort of starting to make
- 37:59Speaker 4: a comeback and appear like pretty shitty movies and clearly
- 38:02Speaker 4: just were a massive paycheck. So he probably would yeah, lend.
- 38:04Speaker 3: His voices as underlike Druga Sawus the movie. When did
- 38:07Speaker 3: he pass Rando? Want to say, early two thousand and four.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Let's look at his films. Let's see what he was
- 38:14Speaker 3: doing around nineteen eety three. Let's have a quick look,
- 38:17Speaker 3: because he was.
- 38:17Speaker 4: In a movie in ninety called The Freshman that's actually
- 38:21Speaker 4: really good with him and Matthew Broderick. I don't know
- 38:23Speaker 4: if this is Don Juan Marco era. Christopher Columbus The Discovery, Yeah, yeah,
- 38:27Speaker 4: Oh well, there were two Columbus movies that came out
- 38:30Speaker 4: in the early Don Juan de Marco was ninety four,
- 38:32Speaker 4: that's yeah, with Johnny Depp. There was fourteen ninety two
- 38:35Speaker 4: that was directed by Rilly Scott, and then there was
- 38:37Speaker 4: Christopher Columbus The Discovery, which was yeah, kind of shit,
- 38:41Speaker 4: kind of the cheap one we had that Brandow to
- 38:43Speaker 4: Dr Morue ninety six.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Yeah, Doland Doctor murau Man an.
- 38:46Speaker 4: Absolute shit show. Yeah, there's a fantastic documentary if you
- 38:51Speaker 4: were all interested in behind the scenes and stories of
- 38:53Speaker 4: shit shows, called Lost Soul. I won't go into the
- 38:58Speaker 4: whole thing about the making of The Island Doctor Tomorrow,
- 39:00Speaker 4: but it was just doomed from the very beginning Yeah, I.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Love the Phantom Menace documentary. It's like everything that went
- 39:06Speaker 3: wrong with Phantom Menace and it's just like the best
- 39:09Speaker 3: part is when he's going real, not real, not real, and.
- 39:13Speaker 4: It cuts to the people who are working it, just
- 39:14Speaker 4: like The Brave as well.
- 39:19Speaker 3: With The Brave in ninety seven more Depp, I think
- 39:22Speaker 3: I think it looks that looks like Stallone. I think
- 39:25Speaker 3: Johnny Depp directed The Brave and it might be actually
- 39:28Speaker 3: in it as well. Is that not that not Stallone?
- 39:30Speaker 4: In that post? Well, I think I think Johnny Depp
- 39:33Speaker 4: is playing a Native American in it. And while Johnny
- 39:37Speaker 4: Depp does say he has Native American lineage, this also
- 39:41Speaker 4: seemed like you're putting on a bit too much brown
- 39:43Speaker 4: makeup here, Johnny Depp.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Maybe that was Brandaw in the post. That doesn't that
- 39:46Speaker 3: does not look like Depp? Does it? In that posted there?
- 39:49Speaker 4: Doesn't it? You reckon free money?
- 39:53Speaker 3: Yeah, Charlie Sheen, Thomas Hayden Church Apocalypse Now Reducts Reducts
- 40:00Speaker 3: just just a reac up version of Apocalypse Now and then
- 40:02Speaker 3: he's just yeah, on his way out Superman movies, and
- 40:04Speaker 3: then he's gone, Howdies Brandow Brando destroyer who gives you then,
- 40:13Speaker 3: because he says, I want to be a monoail conductor,
- 40:16Speaker 3: so he's going to join the class. Then, of course
- 40:20Speaker 3: they asked, well, he asked, are there any investigative reporters
- 40:23Speaker 3: to leave, including the hidden camera? I am, and so
- 40:26Speaker 3: is I forgot no name, but yeah, but then and
- 40:28Speaker 3: then the guy's hidden camera.
- 40:29Speaker 4: Yes, let's go. But of course the course is just
- 40:32Speaker 4: in a room.
- 40:33Speaker 3: We've got my apartment room. It's just a note on
- 40:35Speaker 3: the door. Barnes meanwhile, doing.
- 40:38Speaker 4: The test, true or false?
- 40:40Speaker 7: You can get mono from riding the monorail.
- 40:44Speaker 2: False. No, wait, maybe it's true.
- 40:46Speaker 7: No, you were right, it's false. Wow, you really are
- 40:50Speaker 7: going to be a monorail conductor.
- 40:52Speaker 2: That's right boy.
- 40:53Speaker 7: You know I used to think you were stuck in
- 40:55Speaker 7: an emasculating go nowhere job kids, but now I want
- 40:59Speaker 7: to following your footsteps.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Do you want to change your name to Homer Junior?
- 41:03Speaker 2: The kids can call you, hold you.
- 41:07Speaker 7: I'll get back to you.
- 41:08Speaker 3: People love this. I've never been a huge fan to
- 41:09Speaker 3: hold you a bit, they can call you hold you.
- 41:11Speaker 3: I've always just thought it was just really stupid. But
- 41:13Speaker 3: some people love it, which is fine, but I've just
- 41:15Speaker 3: always thought this is just dumb. Yeah, I just feel
- 41:19Speaker 3: like kind of Homer then watches Barney directed in the
- 41:21Speaker 3: crane because you know, all these idiots are getting jobs now,
- 41:24Speaker 3: and he waves a Homer makes the crane drop the
- 41:26Speaker 3: whatever it is and slashing into a house.
- 41:28Speaker 4: He hates that sound.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Margin points out the dangers of being a monoil conduct
- 41:32Speaker 3: and what have us step on a bar shop and
- 41:35Speaker 3: I'll be killed, Homer tries. Then there's the flirting by
- 41:39Speaker 3: using the voice.
- 41:39Speaker 4: Well, gobbling up danger like ordinary man neat peanuts.
- 41:44Speaker 3: And transition gave my love a chicken no bones, gets
- 41:49Speaker 3: distracted cheek in. But yeah, the whatever I talk like this,
- 41:53Speaker 3: it's just iconic for me. Then we have the final
- 41:57Speaker 3: day of the course. Mono means one and rail means right,
- 42:00Speaker 3: and that's the end of the three week course. He
- 42:01Speaker 3: goes to leave, and I was like, well, who's going
- 42:03Speaker 3: to be the conductor? Oh yeah, that's right, And he
- 42:04Speaker 3: looks at it. He was monitoring your progress, which is
- 42:06Speaker 3: just a picture of him. Why drawing all these drawings.
- 42:10Speaker 3: It furthers the story. No one in the right mom
- 42:12Speaker 3: would do this. They even acknowledge later, and he's like,
- 42:14Speaker 3: I got to stop leaving it's out, But he chooses
- 42:19Speaker 3: Homer and who me, Yeah you shot as.
- 42:21Speaker 4: Kind of one of my favorite throwaway gigs, not necessarily
- 42:24Speaker 4: in this instance, but yeah, anytime it's someone is meant
- 42:27Speaker 4: to be taking copious notes and turns out there's doodling.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Just hilarious.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Yep, let me get the news report with Homo the
- 42:34Speaker 3: cigarette photo, the stock photo of Homer.
- 42:37Speaker 4: Is this part of hit?
- 42:38Speaker 3: Maybe realize just how much of a break neck speed
- 42:40Speaker 3: this episode moves through like it's just bang, like the
- 42:43Speaker 3: end of the course, how we get selected news report
- 42:45Speaker 3: about Home and being there? Now w they're in the
- 42:46Speaker 3: monail's just bang bang bang. So Home is doing a
- 42:49Speaker 3: tour of the monorail inside the front bit there and
- 42:52Speaker 3: these where they find the first of all the drink
- 42:54Speaker 3: cudder or as I called it, cup cake, and then
- 42:56Speaker 3: he sees they see the possums and apparently this is
- 42:59Speaker 3: miss mac Grating's favorite line. And then Tiger Simpson and
- 43:02Speaker 3: I'm like, really, what bide I call the Big One
- 43:04Speaker 3: Bidy is Mack Grating's favorite Simpsons moment? Should we be
- 43:07Speaker 3: worried about Matt Groening? But then Marge says I'm gonna
- 43:11Speaker 3: go see Larle Landing. Something doesn't feel right here, you know,
- 43:13Speaker 3: there's a family possums living in here.
- 43:15Speaker 4: What's going on?
- 43:16Speaker 3: And she finds his notepad AND's a picture of him
- 43:19Speaker 3: I mean like to heat you with money, and then
- 43:20Speaker 3: suckers and a flaming monarela.
- 43:24Speaker 4: And he enters hell.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Should you see nothing in coomin any good?
- 43:28Speaker 4: Just ad delivery of.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Good from film good? I don't know why I live
- 43:32Speaker 3: this line around. Margin drives to north Haverbook to get
- 43:35Speaker 3: the real truth about what happened there, and she has
- 43:38Speaker 3: the repeated visions.
- 43:40Speaker 1: I have sold minor rails to Brockway, I've been Veil
- 43:42Speaker 1: and North paper Brock.
- 43:44Speaker 6: Is there a gente the track good bet?
- 43:47Speaker 2: They called the big One? Baby?
- 43:49Speaker 1: I have sold minor rails the Brockway, I been vel
- 43:52Speaker 1: and North paper Brock.
- 43:53Speaker 6: Is there a gente the track good bet?
- 43:56Speaker 2: The all the big one? Baity?
- 43:58Speaker 4: It's like that? How oh yeah? That's another one that
- 44:01Speaker 4: came up recently.
- 44:02Speaker 3: I was touching on. It might have been this review.
- 44:04Speaker 3: It would have been of things that ninety posts kids
- 44:07Speaker 3: wouldn't get. There was a guy called Joe the other day,
- 44:09Speaker 3: Elliot's fan was called Joe Joseph. I went Hana Joe
- 44:12Speaker 3: and his dad Slay loved it. Kid's like, what this is?
- 44:17Speaker 4: Weird guy?
- 44:18Speaker 3: The other one you know, Ellie by something like that.
- 44:25Speaker 4: So good. She arrives and it's a ghost town.
- 44:29Speaker 3: I love the cackling lady. Just a cackling lady sitting
- 44:32Speaker 3: on her doorstep in the rocking chair. There was no
- 44:34Speaker 3: monarail here. There's no no monarail here.
- 44:36Speaker 4: That never was. It's that Monroel.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Cafe on the idea of a ghost town and people
- 44:41Speaker 3: still living there. Why she still at the cafe. It's
- 44:43Speaker 3: really closed.
- 44:44Speaker 4: She know where to go.
- 44:46Speaker 3: But that's great for memes when people are denying something.
- 44:49Speaker 3: He's like, there is no this and never I was
- 44:51Speaker 3: pulled it down and a picture of whatever it was.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Then Sebastian Cobb arrives, the man who was hired to
- 44:56Speaker 3: build the monorail for North Haverbrook, and he.
- 44:59Speaker 4: A little just up by the way. I'm sorry, I
- 45:01Speaker 4: keep based on something, No.
- 45:02Speaker 3: I want to because he's got such a distinctive look. Yeah,
- 45:04Speaker 3: is he based on something? Spashion Cobb design is very
- 45:08Speaker 3: similar to Doctor Strangelove from Doctor Strange.
- 45:10Speaker 4: Love or How Cool lere you go.
- 45:13Speaker 3: His name is Cobb, the name of a building material
- 45:15Speaker 3: about that. Apparently he died he was hit by the
- 45:18Speaker 3: old Mono rail death. He was hit by the old
- 45:20Speaker 3: monorail in the Old Blue Man. She ate what she
- 45:22Speaker 3: used to be? What episode is that? The Old Green
- 45:25Speaker 3: Man Old Blue Man's here this episode season twenty nine.
- 45:29Speaker 3: We'll get to that when we get to it. Yeah,
- 45:31Speaker 3: however his death was wasn't confirmed, meaning he could have survived.
- 45:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:35Speaker 3: Spashion Cob based off Doctor Strange. Love about that. A
- 45:38Speaker 3: very unique design. But I really like the character who
- 45:41Speaker 3: voiced him as Harry Shearer. Of course, apparently Harry she
- 45:44Speaker 3: Heer doesn't like SEMs anymore. Has looted for a long
- 45:46Speaker 3: time apparently, but I've heard this from you, but apparently
- 45:50Speaker 3: he did an interview recently. He's just like, yeah, it's
- 45:52Speaker 3: hard and harder to do it every every year, and
- 45:54Speaker 3: it's like, dude, one of the easiest gigs in Dollywood, right,
- 45:58Speaker 3: just do it. You probably get some money in the bank.
- 46:01Speaker 3: You might be able to like stop, Yeah, let someone
- 46:03Speaker 3: else do it? Can someone else do it? But Yeah,
- 46:07Speaker 3: as we were saying, she meets Sebastian Cobb, who's hired
- 46:10Speaker 3: to build the monorail, but Lyle lady took plenty of shortcuts,
- 46:12Speaker 3: and she's what are we gonna do? You better have
- 46:14Speaker 3: a damn good conductor. That reminds me of I think
- 46:17Speaker 3: it's Rambo and is like, I've got so many soldiers
- 46:21Speaker 3: in that forest looking for Rambo or whatever. And he's like,
- 46:22Speaker 3: what are you gonna say to that? I hope you
- 46:24Speaker 3: got a lot of body bears.
- 46:25Speaker 4: Oh yeah, what a line. Well, a lion is one
- 46:28Speaker 4: of the things you're gonna need. A good supply body bear, tramman.
- 46:34Speaker 4: What a guy?
- 46:35Speaker 3: Cuts to Homer, who has locked the keys in the
- 46:37Speaker 3: in the mona round, get a rock. Then it's time
- 46:40Speaker 3: for the grand opening, the opening? What you're opening? What
- 46:43Speaker 3: do you ceremony? Ceremony circuit of the what was the
- 46:46Speaker 3: called when it goes around the circuit or the.
- 46:47Speaker 4: Red carpet cap.
- 46:49Speaker 3: Yeah, but the dash Calhoun has arrived, a woman with
- 46:52Speaker 3: crusty son. That's the song the kids things here. It's
- 46:55Speaker 3: just Google Gaga. I don't know, he just went I thought
- 46:57Speaker 3: it seems like it sounds like Lady marm Lade almost
- 46:59Speaker 3: to the let's go the wiki pages that sing anything
- 47:03Speaker 3: No I thought.
- 47:03Speaker 4: I thought it was just Google Gag, Gag, Google Gag.
- 47:06Speaker 3: It sounds like it's singing something, but in baby talk, Yeah,
- 47:08Speaker 3: I was obviously I was wrong. But also we got
- 47:10Speaker 3: Lurlie Lumpkin, who spent last night in the ditch. She's
- 47:13Speaker 3: just previously released from.
- 47:14Speaker 4: Where oh the bettyful cling which which stint.
- 47:18Speaker 3: Because a recent stick. And then Kyle Darren who was
- 47:23Speaker 3: thirty four years old and he was from No. No
- 47:24Speaker 3: two and no right Springfield Heights, No No to Grefield
- 47:27Speaker 3: Heights two and No. Then we introduced Leonard Nimoy and
- 47:31Speaker 3: he thinks he is William Shatner. No, No, he thinks
- 47:33Speaker 3: he's yeah, neither for with him?
- 47:37Speaker 4: Do you think I am? Yes?
- 47:38Speaker 3: And you wanted the little rascals. Then Lisa sees land
- 47:41Speaker 3: and leaving, why are you leaving? And he's got to
- 47:44Speaker 3: the cash. Oh my plane is leaving soon. But the
- 47:46Speaker 3: rides in ther minute, while my plane leaves in less
- 47:47Speaker 3: than one minute. It gets into taxi and leaves. Then
- 47:49Speaker 3: Homer starts the first ride all the bod I feel
- 47:51Speaker 3: like I feel so for Homer here because he's like
- 47:53Speaker 3: he's taking us so seriously. Oh God, you didn't know
- 47:55Speaker 3: this ship was going to go wrong.
- 47:55Speaker 4: He's got his naty. Yeah, everybody know. He's very happy.
- 47:58Speaker 4: Marge arrives, but too late.
- 48:00Speaker 3: I shouldn't have stoped for that.
- 48:02Speaker 4: I love that line.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Now, great Neme more than explains how the doors worked
- 48:05Speaker 3: on Star Trek. You just imagine. I love that Leonard
- 48:09Speaker 3: Nemo was willing to take the pisce out of himself
- 48:10Speaker 3: yet oh sure, like he's walking like like you just
- 48:12Speaker 3: imagine that. Because Star Trek in the early nineties, I
- 48:16Speaker 3: suppose they had the new show did in that generation.
- 48:18Speaker 4: They did, and they're still making movies at this stage.
- 48:21Speaker 4: I mean, what was more prevalent at this point probably
- 48:23Speaker 4: Star Trek of a Star Wars. Right, Star Wars had
- 48:26Speaker 4: existing ten years since the return ninety three. Am wondering
- 48:31Speaker 4: when I don't know if we're in generation started ninety
- 48:34Speaker 4: three or only two. I reckon next generation. Yeah, but
- 48:37Speaker 4: in terms of movies, because I mean there was Motion
- 48:40Speaker 4: picture in eighty then you had Rather Carn in eighty two.
- 48:43Speaker 3: This generation was eighty seven, ended in ninety four. Okay,
- 48:46Speaker 3: I thought it started in the early nineties. Okay, Star
- 48:48Speaker 3: Trek The Voyage Home I think was like eighty six.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Star Trek films.
- 48:55Speaker 4: Yeah, we probably were probably around like Undiscovered Country era.
- 48:57Speaker 4: They're still making Star Trek movies with the car understand
- 49:00Speaker 4: the country was ninety one. Okay, then when was they
- 49:04Speaker 4: have Generations up there? Because that was the one that
- 49:08Speaker 4: had shattn around Patrick.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Stewart, Yeah, Generations isn't in that list for some reason.
- 49:13Speaker 4: The other thing about Nimoy at this time was he's
- 49:16Speaker 4: directing movies. Was he ninety four? Was Generations? It was
- 49:19Speaker 4: a year after this episode. Okay, did you know that
- 49:22Speaker 4: Lennar Nimoy directed Three Men and a Baby, one of
- 49:25Speaker 4: the biggest box office hits of nineteen eighty seven. Who
- 49:29Speaker 4: could have seen that coming?
- 49:31Speaker 7: No?
- 49:31Speaker 3: Really? Ten dancing who gutenbergen and Sella yeah, Seale, Yeah,
- 49:36Speaker 3: just three dudes, They're gonna have a little baby.
- 49:40Speaker 5: What to do?
- 49:42Speaker 3: And then we had Babies Day Out and that didn't
- 49:43Speaker 3: go as well. No, but I love that movie as
- 49:45Speaker 3: a kid, of course he did. Yeah, what's his name?
- 49:48Speaker 3: Fat Tony was his name? Joe gave it everything? Joe Montana,
- 49:51Speaker 3: Joey Pan Yeah, and some big guy yeah, and the
- 49:54Speaker 3: big guy who was in a recent episode of SPU
- 49:56Speaker 3: And I was like.
- 49:57Speaker 4: I know this guy from somewhere. It's the dumb guy from.
- 50:02Speaker 3: Was it called baby Bink Baby Bink Yeah or baby
- 50:05Speaker 3: Booty baby Bink Yeah? Yeah, And it has a it's
- 50:09Speaker 3: an early role for the chick from Sex and the City.
- 50:12Speaker 4: With the red hair.
- 50:12Speaker 3: What's her name, Cynthia Nick. She plays the nanny in
- 50:14Speaker 3: that she's got straight blonde hair. Wow, yeah, baby's maybe
- 50:19Speaker 3: check it out. If my kids thought it was hilarious,
- 50:23Speaker 3: you know why because the kids because so then, yes,
- 50:27Speaker 3: the ride's kicking off and lean boy is just being
- 50:30Speaker 3: he's seen it that no one wants him around.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Like it was a weirdo chase. You're telling his stories
- 50:37Speaker 4: from the from the setter started like, yeah, this was
- 50:39Speaker 4: initially interesting and you're just getting into the minutia. I'm
- 50:42Speaker 4: not interested and no one cares anymore.
- 50:44Speaker 3: And then tells bart Sticky's had out the window having
- 50:45Speaker 3: a great time, and then we see he almost gets
- 50:48Speaker 3: his head taken off. But yeah, we see things are
- 50:50Speaker 3: breaking as.
- 50:50Speaker 4: It seldom break is that seldom break. It was a
- 50:54Speaker 4: good gear because I mean, everything else is breaking, and
- 50:56Speaker 4: seldom break is like waiting for to break, waiting for
- 50:58Speaker 4: to break, because that'll be the gag, and then a
- 51:00Speaker 4: dozen but then.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Yeah, then it does and starts going really really fast,
- 51:04Speaker 3: and the sticker wears off, and it's revealed here that
- 51:06Speaker 3: he's actually just got the monoail from the ninety and
- 51:08Speaker 3: sixty four Worlds Fair, and he pulls the brakes. The
- 51:10Speaker 3: liver you have pulled breaks is nut in service. Then
- 51:14Speaker 3: Sebastian Cobbs says he finds it. How fast is going
- 51:17Speaker 3: by home? Is cowardly scream It says they're going one
- 51:19Speaker 3: hundred and eighty miles per hour, which is how fast
- 51:21Speaker 3: and kilometers in someone in the two hundred in two
- 51:25Speaker 3: kilometers they are going chw hundred eight nine kilometers an hour,
- 51:28Speaker 3: Holy smokes. Then Wigham's watching, getting kind of dizzy. I
- 51:33Speaker 3: canna take a nap. This is where Quimby walks in
- 51:36Speaker 3: and let us have like a dick measuring context, don't they?
- 51:38Speaker 3: Basically yeah, they go down to town hall to find
- 51:41Speaker 3: out or read the town charted, to find out who's
- 51:43Speaker 3: actually in charge in this situation.
- 51:44Speaker 4: Hey, I'm strus.
- 51:45Speaker 3: I'm going to pay every month two comany lasses virtually true.
- 51:49Speaker 4: Forget the the peak. How many brides do I get?
- 51:52Speaker 3: But just the Wigham two comely lashes.
- 51:58Speaker 4: Virtually true. That just slays me.
- 52:02Speaker 3: And then we also recently, as I was saying, did
- 52:04Speaker 3: Squirt in the Whale where they did an extpo about
- 52:07Speaker 3: solar panels and whatnot, and it was really poorly done.
- 52:09Speaker 3: This year it's solar powered, so there's a solar eclipse.
- 52:12Speaker 3: The cosmic ballet he goes on, so I want to
- 52:13Speaker 3: swap seats so it slows down because of solar powder, right.
- 52:16Speaker 4: Love solar power. When will people? That's such a good payout?
- 52:20Speaker 4: You know, that's great because I mean, when will people learn?
- 52:25Speaker 4: Because we're in an era it's kind of like, well,
- 52:27Speaker 4: this could help us out, this could be the future.
- 52:29Speaker 4: I mean, this is actually a good thing. When will
- 52:32Speaker 4: people learn?
- 52:35Speaker 3: Now on the plane, Lanley he's on his way to
- 52:38Speaker 3: he he's got his cocktail and whatnot. Briefly in North Heaver.
- 52:42Speaker 4: Books in cases full of cash.
- 52:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and then he's like oh no, oh no, and
- 52:46Speaker 3: he gets attacked. Then Crusty wants out, No, the world
- 52:49Speaker 3: needs laughter, and Bart says, well, he's like, we're going
- 52:52Speaker 3: to We're gonna die, son Yep, this's gonna take a
- 52:55Speaker 3: lot of innocent people with us. And then he gets
- 52:57Speaker 3: a phone call home or whoever signed is Batman?
- 53:01Speaker 4: It's not Batman? Now, I always thought that Home when
- 53:05Speaker 4: he said Batman's designs like he was saying it like
- 53:07Speaker 4: a like a question. Badman's a scientist. It could be Batman.
- 53:12Speaker 4: He's not wrong.
- 53:16Speaker 3: He just wants to believe it could be Batman. You know,
- 53:19Speaker 3: he's gonna save me in a situation. And he says,
- 53:21Speaker 3: you need to find an anchor. He looks at but
- 53:23Speaker 3: think harder Home. It takes the last suit from a
- 53:25Speaker 3: random cowboy guy and just random Caillough.
- 53:27Speaker 4: Isn't that Dash Calhoun? Is it?
- 53:30Speaker 3: I thought I thought Dash Calhoun was like a cowboy actor.
- 53:33Speaker 3: Oh god, I've just learned something. Oh my god, maybe
- 53:35Speaker 3: it is hey Ellen sunder Day.
- 53:38Speaker 4: Was it?
- 53:38Speaker 3: Was it because he wasn't in his cowboy affort when
- 53:40Speaker 3: he arrived.
- 53:40Speaker 4: Though, That's why I thought he kind of was.
- 53:43Speaker 3: No, he's not, it's not him. It's just a random cowboy.
- 53:46Speaker 4: Oh okay.
- 53:47Speaker 3: He also look at Dash Calhoun. That's him there, because
- 53:49Speaker 3: I was dreaming. No, it's just a Redom cowboy. They
- 53:56Speaker 3: needed a lassuit. It was a cowboy.
- 53:58Speaker 4: Well, I missed opportunity that made Dash Calhoun like a
- 54:01Speaker 4: cowboy act that possibly? Yeah, what was he a cowboy? Afternoon?
- 54:04Speaker 4: I don't know. Are you making this shit up?
- 54:06Speaker 3: Well, that's the power of imagination. He's a leading actor
- 54:10Speaker 3: in Springfield. He attended the opening of Springfield's Claims. He
- 54:13Speaker 3: was recently added, where did you get cowboy from? Just
- 54:15Speaker 3: the name Dash Calvin? It sounds like a cowboy. It
- 54:17Speaker 3: sounds like school.
- 54:19Speaker 4: Just just decided he's a cowboy. Okay, that's my head canon.
- 54:23Speaker 3: No, you're right, because I'm right according to that's him,
- 54:27Speaker 3: that's Rory Calhury Calhoun is a cowboy. You're thinking that's
- 54:30Speaker 3: maybe where you get the connection from. Yeah, Rory Calhoun. Yeah, okay,
- 54:33Speaker 3: but it wasn't Dash Calhoun though, just random cowboy.
- 54:36Speaker 4: Maybe in your mind.
- 54:37Speaker 3: I'll get him up for you so you can see
- 54:39Speaker 3: it wasn't Rory Calhoun. You probably would get Dash Calhoun up.
- 54:41Speaker 3: He's recently out of the closet. We're spending too much
- 54:44Speaker 3: time on there. It's far there is.
- 54:48Speaker 4: It's not him.
- 54:49Speaker 3: It's just a random cowboy. Good outfit though. But he
- 54:51Speaker 3: gets the umlassuit. He ties it around the m on side.
- 54:54Speaker 3: The mone easy to rip off. Of course, it's mad
- 54:56Speaker 3: he tosses it out. It's actually a great idea, pretty
- 54:58Speaker 3: quick thinking, my Homer.
- 54:59Speaker 4: Here it is. So it's the M for monrow or
- 55:02Speaker 4: it's not. It's not the W for World's fear? Is it?
- 55:04Speaker 3: Because it's just a sticker? Oh okay, this is an
- 55:06Speaker 3: M for the monorail? Yeah?
- 55:07Speaker 4: Ok yeah.
- 55:08Speaker 3: So it cuts the oldest tree down, which then falls
- 55:10Speaker 3: onto the birthplace of the gepidized springfield and blows up,
- 55:13Speaker 3: and he separates the Siamese twins.
- 55:14Speaker 4: That's good. They high five one another.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Goes past the old anchor shop and the hole that anchor.
- 55:18Speaker 4: You say, you can join twins? Now we do it.
- 55:20Speaker 3: Yes, Sons of the Sorrow, I know something different, but
- 55:24Speaker 3: just the various names of things that you have to change,
- 55:27Speaker 3: stuck in it gets stuck in the donuts, donuts, anything
- 55:30Speaker 3: they can't do it.
- 55:31Speaker 4: I'm watching this going.
- 55:32Speaker 3: If we're being legitimate here, this would be an absolute
- 55:35Speaker 3: classified if this actually happened, because it wouldn't just stop,
- 55:39Speaker 3: it would go flying off the track. But you know,
- 55:45Speaker 3: for the sake of the story, it stops and Homo
- 55:47Speaker 3: saves the day.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Donuts. Is there anything they can't do?
- 55:52Speaker 3: Down?
- 55:53Speaker 7: You're a hero?
- 55:55Speaker 2: Yes, son, I'm the best monothingy guy there ever was.
- 56:02Speaker 5: Well, my work is done here.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Holy man, your work is done.
- 56:06Speaker 8: You don't do anything, didn't I Then we get Marge's
- 56:14Speaker 8: voice over the town of Springfield doesn't know.
- 56:16Speaker 3: We never did this again except for the Popsicle six skyscraper, well,
- 56:20Speaker 3: the fifty foot magnifying glass and all the escalator to nowhere,
- 56:23Speaker 3: well and over the credits.
- 56:26Speaker 4: Just a few more.
- 56:26Speaker 3: Yeah, just there's a reason people call this one of
- 56:28Speaker 3: the best episodes of all time. It's it's just filled
- 56:30Speaker 3: with so much.
- 56:31Speaker 4: It's got great joke density as well.
- 56:33Speaker 3: Say, there's no emotion there, but it's a great it's
- 56:36Speaker 3: a great comedy story.
- 56:37Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, I mean it's got it's got good bones,
- 56:40Speaker 4: and it's just enlivened by this fantastic central performance by
- 56:44Speaker 4: the late great film.
- 56:45Speaker 3: And it just feels like it has the energy of
- 56:48Speaker 3: Conan O'Brien. You watch Conan, and he's just he's always
- 56:50Speaker 3: moving around, manic. Is manic and manic but controlled. Yeah, well,
- 56:53Speaker 3: I feel like he's other two episodes, Homer goes to
- 56:56Speaker 3: College just have I love Homogosto. That's one of my
- 56:58Speaker 3: all time favorite. He doesn't he does this is the
- 57:01Speaker 3: manic episode. Then he does like a parody episode which
- 57:04Speaker 3: is goes to College, which is a great parody of
- 57:06Speaker 3: all those you know, Animal House and whatnot.
- 57:08Speaker 4: By the way, the song that Homss sings I gave
- 57:12Speaker 4: my love a chicken that handa but I'm pretty sure
- 57:14Speaker 4: that's from Animal House. Can we just do it? Yeah,
- 57:16Speaker 4: we can do that for sure. It's a scene in
- 57:17Speaker 4: Animal House, which I'm presuming you've seen. Yes, the acoustic
- 57:22Speaker 4: guitar guy is sitting on the stairs. I gave my
- 57:24Speaker 4: love a cherry. Yeah, I don't know.
- 57:26Speaker 3: I gave my love a chicken. I had no bonus,
- 57:28Speaker 3: I must be The song is called it gave my
- 57:30Speaker 3: Love a cherry. That yeah, the riddle song is called
- 57:32Speaker 3: and it's from is it an Animal House? They say
- 57:35Speaker 3: it's an animal to animal I gave my love a
- 57:37Speaker 3: cherry Animal House.
- 57:38Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, grabs the guitar and just smashed against the wall. Sorry,
- 57:48Speaker 4: Animal House. It has not aged.
- 57:49Speaker 3: Well, that's all where he goes that z it get it.
- 57:57Speaker 4: Apparently that was just like Blueshi, just being blushi. Apparently
- 58:00Speaker 4: a lot of that stuff was if not improved, then yeah,
- 58:04Speaker 4: maybe I just flick the camera on and see what
- 58:05Speaker 4: he does. They gave him a lot of latitude to
- 58:08Speaker 4: do what he wanted there.
- 58:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and then his emotional story was the U Kid
- 58:14Speaker 3: on the Block where the Laura Powers moves in next
- 58:16Speaker 3: door and Bart's going through the emotions of being a
- 58:18Speaker 3: young boy in love with a not a girl who
- 58:21Speaker 3: he thinks has a hot sprehen but no, that the
- 58:22Speaker 3: age would never work and just yeah, first love that
- 58:25Speaker 3: will no, No, my pants are chief, Yeah, coron on,
