- 0:02Speaker 1: It's been a couple of days since that disappointing performance
- 0:05Speaker 1: by the Jags against the Ravens. Do you guys feel
- 0:07Speaker 1: any better now that you've had a little time since
- 0:09Speaker 1: the game ended.
- 0:10Speaker 2: I do.
- 0:10Speaker 3: It's the week before Christmas. Man, if you can't bring
- 0:12Speaker 3: the energy, no one's going to give it to you.
- 0:14Speaker 3: So yes, I'm here to bring energy.
- 0:16Speaker 4: I feel good, Jaguars. Why that feel a little better?
- 0:21Speaker 5: There's a lot of concerns.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Welcome into jag zam here on Wednesday and Pinony, excuse me,
- 0:43Speaker 1: I'm kind of eys here with Bryan Sexton and John
- 0:45Speaker 1: Osier and we've had a little bit of time for
- 0:48Speaker 1: the dust to settle since things went down on Sunday Nights.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Football not what we wanted to see from that team,
- 0:54Speaker 1: but we have to move forward as there is still
- 0:56Speaker 1: some football left to be played and they're tied to
- 0:58Speaker 1: top the division of the AFC South now, so things
- 1:00Speaker 1: are very important. Let's start off with our big things.
- 1:03Speaker 1: The first big thing is positive. So Doug Peterson obviously
- 1:06Speaker 1: after the game not thrilled with how his team played,
- 1:08Speaker 1: but you have to move forward, and he's trying to
- 1:10Speaker 1: focus on the positives.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I think so much.
- 1:13Speaker 6: Sometimes we focus on the negative all the time and
- 1:16Speaker 6: not the positive.
- 1:17Speaker 2: We got to we gotta.
- 1:18Speaker 6: Find the good too, and and fill our players' heads
- 1:23Speaker 6: with positive this time of year, because you know, we're
- 1:27Speaker 6: we're we feel like we're still a good football team,
- 1:29Speaker 6: and we've we played like it at times.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:33Speaker 6: It's just at times we we don't look very good.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It's just that simple, right, Brian, They just at times
- 1:39Speaker 1: they just don't look very good.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Well, you know it's funny, so we don't put the
- 1:42Speaker 3: question on. But I asked him the question, how is
- 1:45Speaker 3: it that you take something that feels like it's compounding
- 1:48Speaker 3: like it it just gets worse week to week? And
- 1:50Speaker 3: how do you break that cycle? And Johnny, you probably recall,
- 1:53Speaker 3: there was a long pause before he answered the question.
- 1:55Speaker 3: It was like he was trying to break that cycle
- 1:58Speaker 3: in his own mind.
- 1:59Speaker 2: You know, he was still frustrated.
- 2:00Speaker 3: You could tell when he walked in and he started
- 2:02Speaker 3: talking about having to be positive and bring positive energy
- 2:05Speaker 3: to it. My follow up question I thought was the
- 2:08Speaker 3: most telling. I said, how.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Difficult is it to do that?
- 2:11Speaker 3: His response was, it's really difficult, especially the day after
- 2:15Speaker 3: the loss. But you could sense john that he understood
- 2:19Speaker 3: that this team still if they could just get out
- 2:21Speaker 3: of their own way on the field, but listen to
- 2:25Speaker 3: the right voice in their head and ignore the Internet
- 2:27Speaker 3: and Twitter and all of those things they are telling
- 2:29Speaker 3: them lost loss, loss, failure, failure, failure, but focus just
- 2:33Speaker 3: on where they really are. Win these last three games.
- 2:36Speaker 2: It doesn't matter.
- 2:37Speaker 3: You're in at eleven and six and you repeat his
- 2:39Speaker 3: division champs for the first time since nineteen ninety eight
- 2:42Speaker 3: and nineteen ninety nine. That's the truth. Forget all the
- 2:45Speaker 3: other stuff. Focus on that, And that was his message
- 2:48Speaker 3: to them on Monday.
- 2:49Speaker 7: Yeah, going into this last six games, this on paper
- 2:55Speaker 7: was a possibility, meaning Cincinnati, all the teams they've lost
- 2:59Speaker 7: to you last three we have been good or playing
- 3:01Speaker 7: well and might all be in the playoffs depending on
- 3:04Speaker 7: how things play out. So you sort of knew they
- 3:08Speaker 7: can get to those last three, which are against teams
- 3:10Speaker 7: that aren't on paper playing as well, then they can
- 3:13Speaker 7: do it. But then once that reality hits you, it's like, oh, no,
- 3:16Speaker 7: they've lost three games.
- 3:18Speaker 4: It's all still there in front of them.
- 3:20Speaker 7: The worry for me is not necessarily they lost the
- 3:22Speaker 7: last three games. It's their situation now with quarterback with
- 3:26Speaker 7: personnel offensively. Does that sort of leak into the last
- 3:32Speaker 7: three and sort of get into their heads. I think
- 3:34Speaker 7: that's why Doug was trying to be so positive. It's
- 3:36Speaker 7: his job to make sure that doesn't happen.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it certainly could become an issue for them this week,
- 3:40Speaker 3: and it touches on what I'm going to do for
- 3:42Speaker 3: hot takes. So I won't go too deep into it
- 3:43Speaker 3: other than to say that you really have to have
- 3:46Speaker 3: a very strong mental approach this week knowing that you're
- 3:50Speaker 3: going to be playing without some key players.
- 3:52Speaker 1: When we looked at the schedule earlier in the year,
- 3:54Speaker 1: I don't think we would have been shocked if they
- 3:56Speaker 1: lost maybe the last three games or so. But it's
- 3:58Speaker 1: the way that they've been losing, which into our big
- 4:00Speaker 1: thing Number two. Some of the negatives they've been hurting themselves.
- 4:03Speaker 1: It's self inflicting mistakes and just silly errors that they
- 4:06Speaker 1: know they shouldn't be making. Josh Allen a leader certainly
- 4:09Speaker 1: on this team. He talks a little bit about helping
- 4:11Speaker 1: his teammates, specifically Travon Walker and improvements that they need
- 4:14Speaker 1: to make going.
- 4:15Speaker 8: Forward, you know, and that's another way of holding each
- 4:18Speaker 8: other accountable. You know, it was one player where I
- 4:21Speaker 8: thought he didn't do it right, and you know, for me,
- 4:24Speaker 8: I seen what I saw, so I got on him.
- 4:26Speaker 8: But it wasn't it wasn't the message what I was saying.
- 4:30Speaker 8: It was it was the words I was coming out
- 4:32Speaker 8: because this is something that we probably something that we did.
- 4:34Speaker 8: But then once he explained it to me, we kind of,
- 4:37Speaker 8: you know, dialogue, then they say like, okay, well, next
- 4:40Speaker 8: time you do it, didn't just do it like that,
- 4:41Speaker 8: and then everything he was just he was just free,
- 4:44Speaker 8: you know. So it's just little things that.
- 4:50Speaker 1: John, I feel like part of it what makes it
- 4:52Speaker 1: so frustrating is you know they can do it, and
- 4:54Speaker 1: sometimes they're just making mistakes that kind of baffle us
- 4:57Speaker 1: each week.
- 4:57Speaker 7: Yeah, and that's really the weird thing about the last
- 5:00Speaker 7: three games. All three of those teams are playing well
- 5:03Speaker 7: on paper. You can certainly see where they lost those games,
- 5:06Speaker 7: and you can make an argument that all three of
- 5:07Speaker 7: those teams are playing better than the Jaguars right now.
- 5:10Speaker 7: But at the same time, there were chances to win.
- 5:14Speaker 7: And Doug's right when he says if they had just
- 5:17Speaker 7: gotten out of their own way, they would have that's
- 5:21Speaker 7: really my storyline for the last three games. They should
- 5:24Speaker 7: win their last three. Even with the personnel on the field,
- 5:27Speaker 7: they can beat Tampa. They can do these things they're
- 5:29Speaker 7: talking about. But can they stop giving the ball away?
- 5:33Speaker 7: Can they stop giving free points away on defense? Which
- 5:36Speaker 7: they did against the Browns. The concern is is that
- 5:40Speaker 7: what they are now? I don't think we find that
- 5:43Speaker 7: out until Sunday.
- 5:44Speaker 2: No, I don't think so either. And there were two mistakes.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Trevor played a very good game against the Bengals and
- 5:50Speaker 3: then he got hurt and they lost, and then he
- 5:52Speaker 3: didn't play as well against the Browns. Of course, he's
- 5:55Speaker 3: playing on that angle, so you've got to make sure
- 5:57Speaker 3: you put that into the context.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And then he had those.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Two red zone errors late in the ball game or
- 6:03Speaker 3: late in the first half that make you scratch your
- 6:06Speaker 3: head and go, okay, where's the quarterback at? And I
- 6:08Speaker 3: still john think that this is a kid who is
- 6:10Speaker 3: going to be a really good quarterback. But the errors
- 6:15Speaker 3: are on both sides of the ball, and they've got
- 6:18Speaker 3: to get those things fixed. And it gets much more
- 6:20Speaker 3: difficult when you're playing without Christian Kirk and now perhaps
- 6:23Speaker 3: say Jones, who's got a knee and a hamstring that
- 6:25Speaker 3: he's having to deal with, so everyone around them has
- 6:29Speaker 3: to pick up the slack this week.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Everyone, Let's go into our final big thing, which is
- 6:34Speaker 1: question mark. Obviously that revolves around quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He's
- 6:37Speaker 1: in the concussion protocol. They that came down after the game,
- 6:41Speaker 1: so we don't know what the exact timeline for his
- 6:43Speaker 1: return will be. Brian, I know you're a big fan
- 6:46Speaker 1: of kind of just going forward with maybe either a CJ.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Bether and the game plan for that instead of kind
- 6:52Speaker 1: of waiting out things for Trevor. But this will be
- 6:54Speaker 1: an interesting week because they need to play well in Tampa.
- 6:57Speaker 1: This could be you know now that they're hig to
- 6:59Speaker 1: top Dassuth.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Well, you know, so we're looking here at some of
- 7:01Speaker 3: the late throws. It seems so errant that one wasn't
- 7:04Speaker 3: quite so late, but some of the throws and when
- 7:07Speaker 3: he was throwing the ball, you're like, what's going on?
- 7:08Speaker 3: That doesn't look like Trevor. And then we found out
- 7:10Speaker 3: afterwards Johnan he was in the concussion protocol. Look, you know,
- 7:15Speaker 3: he gutted it out with the knee and had a
- 7:17Speaker 3: great game on Thursday, Night football in New Orleans, and
- 7:19Speaker 3: then he gutted it out and gave his team a
- 7:22Speaker 3: chance to win despite the turnovers in Cleveland. This is
- 7:25Speaker 3: not one he gets to decide. This is not him
- 7:28Speaker 3: who says I'm just I'm playing no matter what. He's
- 7:30Speaker 3: in the protocol. So, more so than ever, you don't
- 7:33Speaker 3: even need to say help is not on the way.
- 7:35Speaker 3: You know, you don't even need to declare this because
- 7:38Speaker 3: it's obvious.
- 7:39Speaker 1: C J.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Stroud, by the way, the Houston Texans quarterback, didn't play
- 7:42Speaker 3: last week, and now the word is he's not gonna
- 7:43Speaker 3: play this week. So I think you just have to
- 7:45Speaker 3: assume he isn't playing and CJ. Bethert is going to
- 7:48Speaker 3: be the quarterback. And I think at this point of
- 7:49Speaker 3: the week it's a benefit to know that because everyone
- 7:52Speaker 3: knows help is not on the way. Everyone knows that
- 7:54Speaker 3: they've got to lift their game to another level and
- 7:57Speaker 3: make plays so that they can help CJ.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Bethard as they move the ball.
- 8:00Speaker 7: However they do that, Yeah, and I really think the
- 8:03Speaker 7: key for one game, this isn't the key for career season.
- 8:08Speaker 7: Even if Trevor was playing, the message would be don't
- 8:12Speaker 7: make mistakes don't give this away. Let's play clean and
- 8:16Speaker 7: see if we can by playing clean offensively with either
- 8:20Speaker 7: Even if Trevor plays, it's a limited cast. I don't
- 8:22Speaker 7: think Zay Jones is gonna play, Chris is not gonna play.
- 8:25Speaker 7: They're having trouble running the ball, so it's gonna be
- 8:27Speaker 7: a challenge offensively. So I think that's gonna be the
- 8:31Speaker 7: theme even if Trevor comes back. They have to play
- 8:34Speaker 7: to their identity, which has been all season. Create turnovers
- 8:37Speaker 7: on defense, play good on defense, and it makes some
- 8:39Speaker 7: big plays offensively. I don't think it matters who's I
- 8:43Speaker 7: don't think it matters who plays quarterback.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I think that's the approach.
- 8:45Speaker 2: This is gonna be a defensive game. The defense is
- 8:48Speaker 2: gonna need to do this.
- 8:49Speaker 3: The bucksher I think they're twenty first on offense and
- 8:53Speaker 3: twenty sixth on defense. That've gotten to seven and seven
- 8:56Speaker 3: because the quarterback is playing well. Baker Mayfield's coming off
- 8:59Speaker 3: a perfect pasture. I think he's the first quarterback to
- 9:01Speaker 3: ever do that at lambeau Field in another uniform other
- 9:04Speaker 3: than the Packers. A four touchdown, three hundred and eighty
- 9:07Speaker 3: one yard performance. So I mean, you can just point
- 9:09Speaker 3: right now, right here. The question is who's gonna get
- 9:12Speaker 3: this done, and the answer is the defense.
- 9:16Speaker 1: All right, stay with us. We're gonna go over a
- 9:17Speaker 1: little bit about the road ahead and what the Jags
- 9:20Speaker 1: are going to need to do if they want to
- 9:21Speaker 1: win the AFC South. Jagzam is brought to you by

- 9:37Speaker 1: dot com today. This school, this school, Welcome back to
- 9:44Speaker 1: Jagsam today. Well, back on the couch, We're gonna do
- 9:47Speaker 1: a little this or that. There's a whole lot going
- 9:49Speaker 1: on in the AFC South right now. Things have gotten
- 9:52Speaker 1: a little bit more interesting than we were hoping they
- 9:53Speaker 1: would be at this time in the season. It's a
- 9:55Speaker 1: tie top the South with the Colts and the Texans
- 9:58Speaker 1: and the Jags and a little bit of this or that.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Which one are you more concerned about at this point?
- 10:03Speaker 1: I think normally would say the Texans, but set Strausen
- 10:06Speaker 1: the protocol as you mentioned, Yeah, that limits them.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:08Speaker 3: In early news, this week is that it doesn't look
- 10:11Speaker 3: like he's going to come out of the protocol, right,
- 10:13Speaker 3: which means that they're going to start Davis Mills, who
- 10:16Speaker 3: was good enough to beat the Titans last week, but
- 10:19Speaker 3: probably not good enough to beat a Browns team that
- 10:22Speaker 3: has all sorts of momentum back to back winning seasons.
- 10:27Speaker 3: For Cleveland, it's the first time sin's the Marty Schottenheimer
- 10:30Speaker 3: era that they have done that. So they are feeling
- 10:32Speaker 3: really good about themselves and they're in the middle of
- 10:34Speaker 3: this thing, and so you know, good for the Jags, right,
- 10:39Speaker 3: and then behind them, you've got a Colts team that
- 10:41Speaker 3: is scrappy and refuses to go away, that's playing in Atlanta.
- 10:46Speaker 3: So you've got to be more concerned about the Colts
- 10:49Speaker 3: because remember they're two games back unless they have a
- 10:52Speaker 3: better record than you. So I would say that's the
- 10:56Speaker 3: last part.
- 10:57Speaker 7: Yeah, Well, I think the scenario that could play out
- 11:02Speaker 7: is Cleveland goes to Houston this week and wins. It's
- 11:07Speaker 7: in Houston, right, and then last game of the season,
- 11:12Speaker 7: Houston with a healthy C. J. Stroud beats the Colts,
- 11:15Speaker 7: giving both of those teams one loss and giving Jaguars
- 11:18Speaker 7: air to breathe a little bit. In that scenario, the
- 11:20Speaker 7: Jaguars win the division with two wins, meaning they could lose.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Sunday and still get in.
- 11:26Speaker 7: Nobody wants to be in that situation because that's like
- 11:29Speaker 7: walking on.
- 11:29Speaker 4: A tight rope.
- 11:30Speaker 7: So I'd say right now, my big concern would still
- 11:34Speaker 7: be the Texans long term, But the Colts are that
- 11:41Speaker 7: team this year. That for eleven games, probably because the
- 11:46Speaker 7: Jaguars beat the Colts, it's.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Been out of the Colts. Well, now it's the Colts. Now.
- 11:52Speaker 7: If you lose, the Colts control your destiny and you
- 11:56Speaker 7: can't do anything about it.
- 11:57Speaker 4: So I'd say both unfortun Well, one.
- 12:00Speaker 3: More reason why the Colts are team to be aware
- 12:03Speaker 3: of is they're getting healthy. Right So, Jonathan Taylor's coming back.
- 12:07Speaker 3: They got Grover Stewart, their big nose tackle, who really
- 12:10Speaker 3: they found out when he was absent, how he powers
- 12:13Speaker 3: that defensive front. He's such a load in the middle
- 12:15Speaker 3: that you've got to have two guys always sort of
- 12:17Speaker 3: accounting for him, and it makes everyone else's job easier.
- 12:21Speaker 3: So they're getting healthy, they're getting guys back at the
- 12:23Speaker 3: right time.
- 12:24Speaker 1: They certainly are. It's going to make things difficult. We
- 12:26Speaker 1: will mention the days on the tiebreakers, but just went
- 12:28Speaker 1: out and then you don't have to worry about any
- 12:30Speaker 1: of the tie breakers, which would be key. Let's do
- 12:32Speaker 1: a little quarterback talk because Nathan Rourke got picked up
- 12:35Speaker 1: by the Patriots off waivers this week and coming at
- 12:38Speaker 1: probably the worst possible time, right because obviously with Trevor
- 12:42Speaker 1: and the protocol now CJ. Bethard, who has banged up
- 12:45Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks as well with a shoulder
- 12:47Speaker 1: injury for himself. So is it a big deal that
- 12:50Speaker 1: they've lost their third string quarterback? Normally I'd say no,
- 12:52Speaker 1: but it's kind of not a great time to be
- 12:54Speaker 1: losing him.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Well, it's not a great time, but I'm not sure
- 12:56Speaker 3: it's that big of a deal. What do we really
- 12:57Speaker 3: know about Nate Pipwork. We haven't seen him on the
- 12:59Speaker 3: practice field. I mean he's been out there, but we
- 13:01Speaker 3: haven't seen him on a game field since uh since August.
- 13:05Speaker 3: And you know, he was playing at a time, John
- 13:08Speaker 3: where athletic quarterbacks run around and make plays. I mean
- 13:11Speaker 3: there were hundreds of he saw him everywhere guys and
- 13:13Speaker 3: making great throws because they're running around and avoiding you know,
- 13:16Speaker 3: guys who are driving milk trucks now right there are
- 13:19Speaker 3: even our milk trucks anymore. But I just don't know
- 13:22Speaker 3: that he's a proven commodity. I don't know you can
- 13:24Speaker 3: say other than he has more knowledge.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Of your knowledge of the system.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Although e J.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Perry was here on the practice squad last year, and
- 13:31Speaker 3: how much has it changed. It's the same offensive coordinators,
- 13:34Speaker 3: same quarterback coach.
- 13:35Speaker 1: You know.
- 13:35Speaker 3: The only thing that's changed is the wide receivers coach
- 13:37Speaker 3: and that doesn't impact it. So I would say e J.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Perry ought to be able to come back in and
- 13:42Speaker 3: I think it's a wash.
- 13:44Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I think you'd rather have Roork because
- 13:48Speaker 7: the reality is if you would have rather had Perry,
- 13:52Speaker 7: he would have been here. So it's a little disingenuous
- 13:54Speaker 7: to say it means nothing. There also is a school
- 13:58Speaker 7: of thought of once he gets down to that third guy,
- 14:03Speaker 7: then what are.
- 14:03Speaker 4: You really talking?
- 14:04Speaker 7: But as soon as I say that, a lot of
- 14:06Speaker 7: teams are winning and grinding through with third guys right now.
- 14:09Speaker 4: The Brown Yeah, so uh yeah, you would rather probably
- 14:13Speaker 4: have Rour.
- 14:15Speaker 7: But the big reality is if they had been super
- 14:18Speaker 7: concerned about that possibility, they wouldn't have ever made him available,
- 14:23Speaker 7: he would have been on the fifty three.
- 14:25Speaker 4: So, uh, that being said, why don't think it matters
- 14:28Speaker 4: that much?
- 14:29Speaker 3: What's what really is the difference between Rourke and Perry
- 14:34Speaker 3: that much?
- 14:35Speaker 2: That much?
- 14:36Speaker 3: As John says, when you get down to it, it
- 14:38Speaker 3: better be someone else making plays because you can't rely
- 14:41Speaker 3: on that third quarterback to do it.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Let's hope it doesn't get to that point. Well, no,
- 14:47Speaker 1: exactly a little bit later on in the week, hopefully
- 14:48Speaker 1: we're gonna talk Stug Peterson today, get a little more
- 14:50Speaker 1: insight about where Trevor Lawrence is on that timeline, what
- 14:53Speaker 1: they're doing to prepare CJ. Bethard for this week. But
- 14:56Speaker 1: stay with us after the break, we're gonna go over
- 14:57Speaker 1: some of our hot takes coming out. For ten years,
- 15:10Speaker 1: Dreamfinders Homes has been proud to call themselves the official
- 15:12Speaker 1: homebuilder of the Jacksonville Jaguars, So you can visit Dreamfindershomes
- 15:15Speaker 1: dot Com from all of the available inventory and go Jags.
- 15:19Speaker 1: We also want to honor our Florida Lottery High School

- 15:24Speaker 1: academic excellence, dedication to the community, and demonstrated leadership on
- 15:27Speaker 1: and off the field. The Right Future Scholarship program is
- 15:30Speaker 1: primarily funded by the Florida Lottery. It assists students in
- 15:33Speaker 1: pursuing post secondary education and career goals. Caitlyn runs across country,
- 15:37Speaker 1: she's on the cheer team as well, and she's hoping
- 15:41Speaker 1: to go to the University of Florida when she graduates school.
- 15:44Speaker 1: So congratulations to Caitlin on all of your accomplishments. We're
- 15:48Speaker 1: back here on Jags aam this morning and we've had
- 15:51Speaker 1: a little time to settle from Sunday. I know the
- 15:54Speaker 1: s guy felt like it was falling at that point.
- 15:55Speaker 1: It may still be falling, but at least we're a
- 15:57Speaker 1: little calmer about it. What are our takes this week, Brian?
- 16:01Speaker 1: You want to kick us off?
- 16:01Speaker 2: Sure? This week it is the how before the food.
- 16:08Speaker 2: The NFL is always.
- 16:09Speaker 3: About movie yet, I mean, it's who's your quarterback? It's
- 16:12Speaker 3: about players, not plays. But this week, to me, it's
- 16:17Speaker 3: about Doug Peterson and Press Taylor trying to figure out
- 16:21Speaker 3: how to move the football with the collection of guys
- 16:24Speaker 3: that are or haven't been impact players yet, right, I mean,
- 16:29Speaker 3: Parker Washington has a couple of touchdowns.
- 16:31Speaker 2: But you're looking at Elijah Cooks and Tim Jones.
- 16:33Speaker 3: You know who knows If you bring a Seth Williams
- 16:36Speaker 3: up from the practice squad, it is more about how
- 16:41Speaker 3: they get guys open and how they utilize c J.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Bedtherd and what they ask him to do. It.
- 16:48Speaker 3: It's always players, But this week I just have this
- 16:51Speaker 3: strong sense that Doug and Press and their team are
- 16:54Speaker 3: going to have to grind to create ways to get
- 16:57Speaker 3: guys open and be clever and creative. Not that they
- 17:00Speaker 3: are not always wanting to be that, but this week
- 17:02Speaker 3: there's more of an emphasis on it.
- 17:03Speaker 7: Yeah, it's it's it's frankly hard to see when you
- 17:09Speaker 7: try to analyze it where points and where offensive efficiency
- 17:12Speaker 7: is gonna come from. They've been really good at times
- 17:15Speaker 7: when they've had all four guys, it's been operating smoothly.
- 17:19Speaker 7: But they're not gonna have all four and they only
- 17:21Speaker 7: have two, and the running game has not shown us
- 17:26Speaker 7: that it can be a reliable force for this team
- 17:29Speaker 7: that teams even have to respect.
- 17:31Speaker 4: So they may they will have to scheme.
- 17:36Speaker 7: And if you're gonna see a trick play, if you're
- 17:37Speaker 7: gonna see something like that, you know that feels desperate.
- 17:40Speaker 4: You don't have to do that.
- 17:43Speaker 7: They somehow have to get their way into two field
- 17:45Speaker 7: goals and two touchdowns and win twenty to seventeen to me,
- 17:51Speaker 7: and that will take Yeah, some scheming on the part
- 17:54Speaker 7: of Taylor and Peterson.
- 17:57Speaker 4: That's the reality this week.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I think it might be one of those we need
- 17:59Speaker 1: some points from the defense game ye as well, or
- 18:02Speaker 1: turnover is getting really good field position in the red
- 18:03Speaker 1: zone helping.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Any well, remember the other night.
- 18:07Speaker 7: You know, if if you take advantage of your opportunities
- 18:13Speaker 7: in the first half, you get at least twelve, maybe
- 18:16Speaker 7: even sixteen, and then the Agnew touchdown gets you to
- 18:20Speaker 7: twenty three.
- 18:22Speaker 4: They sot had to flow end of the night, and
- 18:24Speaker 4: they should make a play. As I've talked about.
- 18:26Speaker 7: You can't give when your scoreboard hunting and when your
- 18:30Speaker 7: score playing like that, you can't give those opportunities away
- 18:34Speaker 7: because then all of a sudden, instead of being up
- 18:36Speaker 7: your right down the whole way and.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Now you're playing uphill.
- 18:40Speaker 7: I don't think they're very good at playing uphill right
- 18:42Speaker 7: now because of the personnel.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Just one example, you know, Luke Ferrell had that twenty
- 18:45Speaker 3: eight yard completion on the second drive that put them
- 18:48Speaker 3: into scoring position at the thirty five yard line. I
- 18:53Speaker 3: believe of the Ravens, and you had Jay Jones and
- 18:58Speaker 3: Evan Ingram and Ridley and Travis Etn and so it
- 19:02Speaker 3: was easy for him to get lost right the safety.
- 19:05Speaker 2: They didn't pay attention. He's normally a blocking tight end.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Well, this week there's gonna have to be more scheme
- 19:10Speaker 3: to get him open so that he can make plays
- 19:12Speaker 3: for you.
- 19:13Speaker 4: It's tough when.
- 19:15Speaker 7: They're in such trouble relying on the running game that
- 19:18Speaker 7: I think it affects everything else play calling wise. When
- 19:21Speaker 7: you don't really trust that a handoff is gonna get
- 19:25Speaker 7: you three point five, then all of a sudden, you
- 19:28Speaker 7: become wary of what you have to call on other
- 19:31Speaker 7: plays because you don't really trust that when you watch them.
- 19:34Speaker 7: That's what it sort of feels like right now. I
- 19:37Speaker 7: hope Sunday they prove that statement wrong. I went with they.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Need to grow up again, and I was wrong about
- 19:47Speaker 4: this team in one sense.
- 19:49Speaker 7: I guess after the Texans game, I said, they're a
- 19:52Speaker 7: mature team now that knows how to win games. Really,
- 19:55Speaker 7: because for seven of eight games they had been that
- 19:58Speaker 7: they had played to a certain identity.
- 20:00Speaker 4: They look to me like a team that was sort
- 20:03Speaker 4: of playoff tough if you will.
- 20:04Speaker 7: They could win low scoring, grinded out games by playing smart,
- 20:10Speaker 7: by sort of willing themselves to do that. I thought
- 20:12Speaker 7: they did that a few times, and in the last
- 20:15Speaker 7: three games when they've sort of needed that.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Somebody to make a big play.
- 20:21Speaker 7: This is our game now moment, you really haven't had it.
- 20:24Speaker 7: And again, I don't think they would have been favored
- 20:28Speaker 7: in any of those three games based on how the
- 20:32Speaker 7: teams are playing now. But a mature team that's gonna
- 20:36Speaker 7: make it, that's sort of establishing itself, figures out a
- 20:39Speaker 7: way to get one, and they haven't done that, And
- 20:41Speaker 7: I think that's surprising that the people involved with it.
- 20:45Speaker 4: It's not too late to be that team.
- 20:47Speaker 7: You can if you win the last three, then all
- 20:49Speaker 7: of a sudden, you're that team again.
- 20:50Speaker 4: They got to this.
- 20:52Speaker 7: Week especially, it just feels like they need that ability
- 20:56Speaker 7: to will themselves to it, even if you don't know
- 20:58Speaker 7: how they're.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Gonna do it. I thought they were that team for
- 21:01Speaker 4: a while.
- 21:02Speaker 7: I'm less certain about them right now, and I hope
- 21:04Speaker 7: they show it again on Sunday to be that.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I think there might be a chance because we do
- 21:08Speaker 1: see them do it against teams they should be. I
- 21:11Speaker 1: will say a lot of their issues have come against
- 21:13Speaker 1: you know, there's no shame in losing to the Ravens.
- 21:15Speaker 1: It's just you right there. You could have put yourself
- 21:18Speaker 1: in a better place with that. A lot of that
- 21:19Speaker 1: was stuff you did to yourself.
- 21:21Speaker 4: So that's a little bit of it.
- 21:22Speaker 7: If they had lost any of these last three and
- 21:26Speaker 7: it wasn't a three game losing stream, I think people
- 21:29Speaker 7: would say, Okay, I get it.
- 21:30Speaker 4: They're good.
- 21:31Speaker 7: When you compile them together and giving some away, it
- 21:35Speaker 7: has that cumulative feeling that again back to the top
- 21:38Speaker 7: of the show, I think Doug is trying to sort
- 21:41Speaker 7: of break that cumulative feeling by saying, hey, remember where.
- 21:45Speaker 3: We are, and it's hard to do with the backup
- 21:47Speaker 3: quarterback and without two key receivers and two offensive linemen
- 21:50Speaker 3: who are not one hundred percent on the left side.
- 21:52Speaker 1: There's a lot of stuff going around that they need
- 21:54Speaker 1: to clean up and hopefully people will be coming back
- 21:56Speaker 1: at some point. Mind's a little bit more about the
- 21:58Speaker 1: culture of between men forward with the team needs.
- 22:01Speaker 7: To work on.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I think the Jaguars need to learn to hate losing
- 22:05Speaker 1: more than sometimes that they like winning. And I mean
- 22:08Speaker 1: that in the sense of you're never gonna get the
- 22:09Speaker 1: entire team on board with this. But some of the
- 22:11Speaker 1: great teams and the franchises that are continually successful, they
- 22:15Speaker 1: dislike when they're playing bad more than maybe they're happy
- 22:18Speaker 1: when they win. I think Doug Peterson's one of those people.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I think when we talked to him after games, he's
- 22:21Speaker 1: kind of baffled sometimes by people not being on the
- 22:24Speaker 1: same pagison because he's one of those guys I think,
- 22:26Speaker 1: you know, we heard from Josh Allen. I think he's
- 22:28Speaker 1: one of those guys. But there's a lot of young
- 22:30Speaker 1: players on this team. There's a lot of veterans on
- 22:31Speaker 1: this team. But they didn't necessarily come from winning franchises
- 22:34Speaker 1: where they're expected to win, make the playoffs every single season.
- 22:37Speaker 1: They're coming from somewhere where if you win, great, if
- 22:40Speaker 1: you don't win, you know whatever. And I think they
- 22:44Speaker 1: have to get over that happy to be here thing
- 22:46Speaker 1: a little bit, because yes, they should beat a lot
- 22:49Speaker 1: of these teams. They can win these games. They're perfectly able.
- 22:52Speaker 1: If I thought that they the roster was bad, I'd
- 22:54Speaker 1: be like, yeah, I'm happy they won some of these
- 22:56Speaker 1: games too, but they can be better. It's a matter
- 22:58Speaker 1: of being disappointed because they need to want that for
- 23:01Speaker 1: themselves a little bit too.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Well, they've got a perfect example to learn to hate
- 23:05Speaker 3: losing because they've done it.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Three times in a row.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Yes, if they don't hate it, I will hate it
- 23:09Speaker 1: for them. But they should learn that for sure. All right,
- 23:12Speaker 1: say with us, we'll come up and preview a little
- 23:13Speaker 1: bit of what we're going on the rest of the
- 23:15Speaker 1: week as we get ready to head to Tampa Bay
- 23:17Speaker 1: on a Christmas Eve. Tags fans, if you want customiz

- 23:38Speaker 1: thank Jee's frontline teams for the critical services they provide
- 23:41Speaker 1: to this community. Today, we'd like to recognize jea's Frontline
- 23:44Speaker 1: Team of the game winners and a special thanks to
- 23:46Speaker 1: jea's Storm Outreach team for their dedication to restore our
- 23:50Speaker 1: community and keep customers informed after major storms. So thanks
- 23:54Speaker 1: to them. It's going to be quite a week we're
- 23:57Speaker 1: getting ready for. We're heading to Tampa on Christmas Eve.
- 23:59Speaker 1: It's a four pm game, a little bit of a
- 24:01Speaker 1: primetime game, if you will. But we don't know who's
- 24:04Speaker 1: going to be out there, necessarily certainly behind center.
- 24:07Speaker 2: No, we don't.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I'm gonna chase down outside linebackers coach Bill Shoey, who
- 24:11Speaker 3: coaches Josh Allen and Trayvon Walker, because those guys are
- 24:14Speaker 3: gonna have to have a big day and create opportunities
- 24:16Speaker 3: like we talking about takeaways and short fields and extra possessions.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Josh is obvious right what he's doing right now. Trayvon two,
- 24:24Speaker 3: you know, he's playing really good football. That was a
- 24:28Speaker 3: big sack last week, and anyone who watched the game
- 24:30Speaker 3: knows that the Sunday Night Football crew featured him a
- 24:33Speaker 3: couple of different times. The way he chased down Lamar Jackson.
- 24:38Speaker 2: He's coming.
- 24:38Speaker 3: You can feel this kid is coming, and it couldn't
- 24:41Speaker 3: come at a better time.
- 24:42Speaker 2: So I'm anxious to find Schee. We had talk about it.
- 24:44Speaker 7: I think they have nineteen sacks between him. That's a
- 24:46Speaker 7: pace to finish about twenty one or twenty two. So yeah,
- 24:51Speaker 7: I mean they've been a strength when this defense has
- 24:54Speaker 7: played well, which is most of the season.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Played well the other night. I thought those two have
- 24:57Speaker 4: played well.
- 24:58Speaker 3: And everyone wants to make the eight and Hutchinson comparison,
- 25:00Speaker 3: and they always will, with him hunching six and a
- 25:02Speaker 3: half sacks, dragon his six. So be careful how quickly
- 25:07Speaker 3: you throw the baby out with the bathwater.
- 25:09Speaker 1: We'll keep an eye on everything this week. We'll preview
- 25:11Speaker 1: the game against the Bucks coming up tomorrow on jags Am.
- 25:13Speaker 1: We will see then
