- 1:09Speaker 3: Welcome back to Juicy Scoop.
- 1:10Speaker 6: Thank you, Heather, for having me back.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Tell everybody, tell the nice things you're saying about the
- 1:15Speaker 4: Juicy Scoopers before we began.
- 1:19Speaker 6: I was saying just what a positive reaction I got
- 1:21Speaker 6: the last time I was on and how people were
- 1:24Speaker 6: just happy to hear me again know that i'm still
- 1:27Speaker 6: alive and then i'm still here from the chelsea lately
- 1:29Speaker 6: days but then also new people came and were like
- 1:32Speaker 6: oh we love you you're so funny and they love
- 1:34Speaker 6: that i was non-pc and i'm like was i non-pc
- 1:39Speaker 6: and i guess i was saying to you earlier i
- 1:41Speaker 6: said i guess the way we talk about this stuff
- 1:43Speaker 6: it isn't like normal people and i guess we say
- 1:45Speaker 6: things that are would be considered non-PC. But anyway, you
- 1:48Speaker 6: have great fans.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Anyway, I'm glad you can appreciate coming to Woodland Hills
- 1:53Speaker 4: from the west side.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yes, of course.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Thank you for not valley shaming me. I appreciate it.
- 1:59Speaker 6: Honestly.
- 1:59Speaker 4: And you know there's a Target right across the way.
- 2:01Speaker 3: If you have to get anything, you can go to
- 2:03Speaker 3: the Village, whatever you need.
- 2:05Speaker 6: We had a nice sushi lunch the last time.
- 2:07Speaker 5: We did.
- 2:08Speaker 7: We did.
- 2:09Speaker 6: A little suspect, but.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Stop it. It was good.
- 2:12Speaker 6: It was good.
- 2:13Speaker 4: It's just that I hadn't been there a long time
- 2:14Speaker 4: because I don't really go to lunch. I usually bring
- 2:16Speaker 4: a Trader Joe's salad, which is also right across the street.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Let's talk about the Britney Spears book. It's out October 24th.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Wow. I mean, there's so much stuff. There's so many
- 2:27Speaker 3: stories that have been leaked.
- 2:28Speaker 6: Oh, my God. She must have taken forever to write
- 2:30Speaker 6: this herself.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Listen, I had a conversation with Cade Hudson.
- 2:36Speaker 6: Cade Hudson?
- 2:38Speaker 2: Cade.
- 2:38Speaker 6: Who's Cade?
- 2:39Speaker 3: He is a man and he is her manager.
- 2:42Speaker 4: And I talked to him at Craig's about a month ago.
- 2:49Speaker 4: And he told me this book, the pre-orders were up
- 2:53Speaker 4: to like, I want to say, and I'm just going
- 2:57Speaker 4: to say, I don't, I can't verify this complete memory,
- 3:00Speaker 4: but I want to say the pre-orders were up to
- 3:01Speaker 4: 9 million.
- 3:02Speaker 3: That's what he told me.
- 3:03Speaker 6: That's insane. Wouldn't that be like the top selling book ever?
- 3:08Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 3:09Speaker 6: Pre-sales of nine million.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Maybe he predicts it'll make nine million.
- 3:14Speaker 6: When you wrote You'll Never Blue Ball in This Town Again,
- 3:16Speaker 6: how many pre-orders did you get, Heather?
- 3:19Speaker 3: You know what, though? I did well on it.
- 3:23Speaker 4: I don't think I ever made like any extra check
- 3:25Speaker 4: from it, but it did sell a lot of books.
- 3:28Speaker 4: And I remember it was the second week that I
- 3:30Speaker 4: made the bestseller list.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:32Speaker 6: Well, there you go. Nine million is insane.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Pre-orders are the way to go.
- 3:36Speaker 4: That's why I love to have authors on before because
- 3:38Speaker 4: I'm like, let's get your pre-orders up.
- 3:40Speaker 6: That's everything, right?
- 3:41Speaker 4: Yeah, especially if you're a celebrity because, like, You know,
- 3:46Speaker 4: all the articles come out, all the podcasts come out,
- 3:48Speaker 4: and if you're not a big reader, then you're like, well,
- 3:50Speaker 4: now I know everything.
- 3:51Speaker 3: I know all the scoop. So why would I buy it?
- 3:53Speaker 4: So you have to get them to pre-order so that
- 3:56Speaker 4: you can make the list.
- 3:56Speaker 6: Yeah, you're absolutely right, because everything now with Britney, and
- 3:58Speaker 6: then I know we'll talk about Jada, it's like they
- 4:01Speaker 6: reveal everything in the book, so why the hell would
- 4:03Speaker 6: I want to buy it?
- 4:04Speaker 4: So People has the exclusive interview, and the cover of
- 4:09Speaker 4: this magazine, there were some comments saying– What is this?
- 4:14Speaker 4: It looks like an AI thing where they took her
- 4:16Speaker 4: face from something else. She obviously didn't do a shoot
- 4:20Speaker 4: at the beach.
- 4:21Speaker 6: In a flowery dress.
- 4:22Speaker 4: She hasn't left her travertine Cheesecake Factory foyer in months.
- 4:28Speaker 4: And when the times that she's been rolling around in
- 4:31Speaker 4: the sand, people wasn't there.
- 4:33Speaker 7: No.
- 4:33Speaker 3: But, okay. So here are all the big bombshells from it.
- 4:40Speaker 6: First of all, can we just discuss who was her ghostwriter?
- 4:43Speaker 6: Who wrote this?
- 4:44Speaker 3: She said she wrote it herself.
- 4:45Speaker 6: She obviously did not.
- 4:46Speaker 3: She has a helper.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Of course she did. And you know how annoyed that
- 4:49Speaker 6: helper was? They would get there and they're like, okay,
- 4:51Speaker 6: so Brittany, tell me about this. And she's like, okay, y'all,
- 4:54Speaker 6: now it's time for me to go dance.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Wait, wait.
- 4:56Speaker 6: I'm going to do a video.
- 4:57Speaker 4: You go, people are, I'm not, whatever, we are making fun. Okay,
- 5:02Speaker 4: but I'm going to be her and you're.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Going to be the ghostwriter.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Okay, so just ask me some questions. We're like on
- 5:08Speaker 3: chapter three.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Wow.
- 5:09Speaker 6: So Brittany, when you started dating- Justin, what was the
- 5:16Speaker 6: initial reaction from your family?
- 5:20Speaker 4: You know, I just wanted— I was just so mad because
- 5:23Speaker 4: I just— I don't know if you know, but I could
- 5:26Speaker 4: never go and drive my car and get coffee. I
- 5:29Speaker 4: just wanted to get coffee and go to the spa
- 5:30Speaker 4: with my friends, and they would not let me.
- 5:33Speaker 6: I'm sorry. So the story is that you wanted coffee or?
- 5:38Speaker 5: The story is I wanted coffee.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Everyone was mean.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Justin, I mean, I adored him, but then like we
- 5:43Speaker 4: weren't going to, you know, we broke up and then
- 5:45Speaker 4: he wrote a song about Crimea River.
- 5:47Speaker 3: And the truth is, you.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Know, so now here's the bombshell. I don't want to
- 5:51Speaker 4: make fun of it, but that's what I think it was.
- 5:53Speaker 4: I think it would be a lot of off track.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 5:55Speaker 6: Oh, I got pregnant and he wanted abortion.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Yes. So she did get pregnant and she did say
- 6:01Speaker 4: she had an abortion and with Justin's baby. And she said,
- 6:05Speaker 4: he said he just wasn't ready to be a father yet.
- 6:09Speaker 4: But if it was up to me, I wouldn't have
- 6:11Speaker 4: done it. Well, it is up to you, unfortunately.
- 6:15Speaker 3: You know, it is up to you.
- 6:17Speaker 4: And it's like, So that– I don't want to really
- 6:19Speaker 4: get into that because that's a sensitive subject. But she
- 6:21Speaker 4: does say she regrets it. So he's probably– Oh.
- 6:24Speaker 6: I don't think abortion is a sensitive subject, Heather. I
- 6:26Speaker 6: think people are– no, that's a sensitive subject.
- 6:29Speaker 3: So, I mean, he's probably freaking out.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Of course, when they broke up, he did Cry Me
- 6:34Speaker 4: a River was the song he did. It was– now,
- 6:38Speaker 4: you know, people are putting the pieces together.
- 6:40Speaker 3: They really do think he, like, threw her under the bus.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Not only, you know– Whatever. Did he get her pregnant
- 6:45Speaker 3: and didn't want to be a dad?
- 6:46Speaker 4: But then he did the video that made it appear
- 6:49Speaker 4: and the words that made it that she cheated. And
- 6:53Speaker 4: so people were pro him. But did he do all
- 6:55Speaker 4: this to facilitate his own? That's right when his own
- 6:58Speaker 4: career was launching.
- 7:00Speaker 5: I'm sure.
- 7:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 7:00Speaker 4: And then, of course, he did the nipple gate with
- 7:04Speaker 4: Janet Jackson. And he's also cheated on Jessica Biel in
- 7:07Speaker 4: which after he cheated.
- 7:08Speaker 6: Allegedly.
- 7:09Speaker 3: No, that is all true.
- 7:10Speaker 6: That's confirmed?
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's pretty confirmed.
- 7:14Speaker 6: You're going through your legal notes?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Is that confirmed?
- 7:16Speaker 3: I do have so many notes. No, it was confirmed.
- 7:18Speaker 3: And when they got back.
- 7:20Speaker 6: Is that in Brittany's book? No, but- You know, he
- 7:22Speaker 6: also cheated on Jessica.
- 7:23Speaker 4: No, but he had- This was part of it for Justin.
- 7:27Speaker 4: I just brought this up. He had an infidelity clause
- 7:32Speaker 4: that he signed after they were discovered. It was like
- 7:36Speaker 4: he was with some girl on a balcony.
- 7:38Speaker 6: An infidelity clause in his- Like.
- 7:39Speaker 4: A post-marriage agreement. With an infidelity clause ensuring that she
- 7:44Speaker 4: would receive most of their assets in primary custody of
- 7:47Speaker 4: their children if he were to cheat. So anyway, they're
- 7:53Speaker 4: back going strong.
- 7:54Speaker 6: Does Peter have one of those? Do you have one
- 7:55Speaker 6: of those with Peter?
- 7:57Speaker 4: No, but I remember I have said– I remember being
- 7:59Speaker 4: at Chelsea lately and Chelsea saying, what would you do
- 8:03Speaker 4: if Peter cheated? And I said I'd definitely divorce him
- 8:06Speaker 4: because he's just not.
- 8:07Speaker 6: That– He doesn't bring much else to the table. What
- 8:11Speaker 6: am I hanging on to?
- 8:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:13Speaker 4: I think the trust is just for me to just
- 8:16Speaker 4: be like, I think that would be really hard for
- 8:18Speaker 4: me to be like, is everything a lie?
- 8:20Speaker 3: Is everything an illusion?
- 8:21Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 8:22Speaker 4: I understand other people can look the other way. I
- 8:25Speaker 4: think sometimes it's if you were raised with like a
- 8:27Speaker 4: cheating dad whose mom stayed with him, then you might
- 8:31Speaker 4: accept it more. If your man has a helicopter, if
- 8:35Speaker 4: we're at a level of wealth- that I could look
- 8:38Speaker 4: the other way, then maybe.
- 8:40Speaker 3: But no, not for me. Not for me. I'd be so,
- 8:44Speaker 3: I'd be like, I'd be done.
- 8:46Speaker 6: I'd be okay if Shannon cheated like with- Your wife, Shannon. Yeah, Shannon,
- 8:49Speaker 6: my wife. If she cheated with like, she always is,
- 8:52Speaker 6: so we see Anthony Kiedis from Red Hot Chili Peppers
- 8:54Speaker 6: around our neighborhood a lot. And he always like makes
- 8:57Speaker 6: eyes at her. And she's like, he's looking at me.
- 8:59Speaker 6: He's checking me out. I go, you know what? If
- 9:02Speaker 6: you left me for a rock star- I'd be totally
- 9:06Speaker 6: okay with that. For some reason, I don't know why.
- 9:08Speaker 6: I would be like, okay, I get it. He's famous.
- 9:13Speaker 6: He's rich. He's talented and everything. There's only so much
- 9:16Speaker 6: I bring to the table. I have a nasally voice.
- 9:19Speaker 6: I'm a middling comedian. It's just like there's not much.
- 9:24Speaker 6: So I would get it. I don't know. I think
- 9:26Speaker 6: we have to have respect in life.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Because I'm such a selfless mother.
- 9:31Speaker 4: I would be completely fine if Peter wanted to leave
- 9:33Speaker 4: me for a much wealthier woman so that my kids
- 9:37Speaker 4: could benefit.
- 9:38Speaker 7: Yes.
- 9:39Speaker 4: And they could fly private and be part of all
- 9:42Speaker 4: these different golf courses. Or maybe she comes from a
- 9:45Speaker 4: very prominent family in which the kids would get immediately
- 9:47Speaker 4: into better schools or into jobs, buy them businesses. I'd
- 9:53Speaker 4: be fine with that. And I'd be fine if he–
- 9:56Speaker 4: I was ready for him to go to his 40th
- 9:58Speaker 4: high school.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Reunion.
- 10:01Speaker 4: He was all set to go when I went to
- 10:03Speaker 4: perform with Chris in San Francisco.
- 10:05Speaker 3: And I was ready for the marriage to end. I
- 10:07Speaker 3: was ready for him.
- 10:07Speaker 6: You thought Peter was going to go to his 40th.
- 10:09Speaker 3: And hook up with some.
- 10:11Speaker 4: I was, he was on the swim team. I was
- 10:12Speaker 4: ready for a swim team girl to show up, still fit.
- 10:17Speaker 4: And they reminisce and I'm.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Like, I'm ready for it.
- 10:20Speaker 6: And what actually happened?
- 10:22Speaker 4: Well, what actually happened was I called him and I'm like,
- 10:25Speaker 4: why aren't you in San Diego?
- 10:27Speaker 3: Meaning the love of your life. For the second chapter. Like,
- 10:32Speaker 3: so you start, you know, exchanging numbers.
- 10:33Speaker 6: Well, because he looked and he realized none of them
- 10:35Speaker 6: have a podcast.
- 10:36Speaker 3: So he's like, I can't.
- 10:38Speaker 6: What would be the point of dating?
- 10:39Speaker 5: What would be the point? Yeah.
- 10:40Speaker 3: He thinks he can make another Heather McDonald.
- 10:42Speaker 4: He can't.
- 10:43Speaker 2: No. No, he was home.
- 10:45Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Home with Brandon hanging out. I'm like, what are you doing?
- 10:49Speaker 4: You should have abandoned our younger son and been looking
- 10:51Speaker 4: for your second wife.
- 10:53Speaker 6: Yeah, free weekend in San Diego.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Drake's like, well, I guess you're stuck with him. Well,
- 10:56Speaker 3: for now, for now. Anyway, yeah. So, okay, getting back
- 11:00Speaker 3: to Britney Spears. So we have that.
- 11:03Speaker 4: She said, I became a robot, but not just a robot,
- 11:07Speaker 4: a sort of child robot. I had been infantized for
- 11:10Speaker 4: so long. I was losing pieces of myself. That is
- 11:13Speaker 4: part of the reason why she shaved her head. She
- 11:16Speaker 4: was like, I just want control of something.
- 11:18Speaker 3: In my life.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Kind of the way I believe maybe an anorexic becomes anorexic.
- 11:21Speaker 6: Do you really believe she was able to put all
- 11:23Speaker 6: that thought together? Based on everything we've seen from her
- 11:27Speaker 6: over the last several years, the Instagram videos, everything, she's
- 11:30Speaker 6: not coherent. She's not even there. So to be able
- 11:32Speaker 6: to sit there and go and really be so introspective
- 11:35Speaker 6: about why she did something, I just don't buy it. Listen.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Listen.
- 11:40Speaker 4: When I talked to Cade, I said, I would love
- 11:42Speaker 4: for her to come on Juicy Scoop.
- 11:44Speaker 6: Did he ever think about changing his name? Because Cade
- 11:46Speaker 6: Hudson is a little too similar to Kate Hudson.
- 11:48Speaker 3: I agree.
- 11:49Speaker 4: And I said, I said, I know there's no way, like,
- 11:52Speaker 4: you know, I'd love to have her on Juicy Scoop.
- 11:54Speaker 4: I know there's no way. And he's like, yeah, do
- 11:58Speaker 4: you have, you know, the millions and millions of dollars
- 12:00Speaker 4: that are being thrown on her to do a sit
- 12:01Speaker 4: down interview? But she will not. Understandably so. She's not
- 12:06Speaker 4: in a place. I remember when she did that one.
- 12:08Speaker 6: You know who's desperate for her to do that interview?
- 12:10Speaker 4: Cade.
- 12:12Speaker 6: Cade hasn't made the Britney money yet. He's he's he's
- 12:15Speaker 6: must be relatively new.
- 12:17Speaker 2: No, he's not.
- 12:18Speaker 3: On her team.
- 12:19Speaker 6: Oh, on her team, yes. So he hasn't reaped the
- 12:21Speaker 6: benefits of the big Britney success. So he's looking for the,
- 12:24Speaker 6: he's cashing in on her downfall.
- 12:26Speaker 4: If he was the one that brokered this book, he's
- 12:30Speaker 4: going to be set.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 12:32Speaker 3: He's going to be set.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Apparently they're bringing Crossroads back into the movie theaters. because
- 12:37Speaker 4: she talks about crossroads.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Oh, interesting.
- 12:38Speaker 4: And she said she was, you know, she thought she was,
- 12:41Speaker 4: would be into acting, but she understood the method acting.
- 12:45Speaker 4: This is where it kind of sounds like, you know,
- 12:47Speaker 4: where her mental illness comes into play. She couldn't like
- 12:50Speaker 4: get out of the character. Like once she was in
- 12:52Speaker 4: the character, she couldn't like put it away. So she
- 12:54Speaker 4: didn't really enjoy the acting that much.
- 12:57Speaker 6: I hate when people say that.
- 12:59Speaker 3: That they can't put it away. No, but I think
- 13:01Speaker 3: for her maybe.
- 13:02Speaker 6: I was so in the character, I just couldn't separate.
- 13:04Speaker 6: You're a, You're an actor. You're reading lines. Get over it.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Well, that's what I'm saying. She's saying about it. She
- 13:13Speaker 4: said the dad, everyone was obsessed with her body. I
- 13:17Speaker 4: remember where I was when I first heard about Britney
- 13:20Speaker 4: Spears and Ryan Seacrest had her mom on the phone
- 13:25Speaker 4: and was like, oh my God, let's talk about your daughter.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Wow. And she, and I remember he's like, she's in
- 13:32Speaker 3: this little school girl uniform. And I remember driving being like,
- 13:35Speaker 3: and the mom's like, yeah, isn't it great? And I'm like,
- 13:37Speaker 3: what is this?
- 13:38Speaker 4: And then I see she's in the little Catholic school
- 13:40Speaker 4: uniform dancing around and how everybody was dying because it
- 13:43Speaker 4: was such a perfect sexual fantasy for everybody from a man.
- 13:50Speaker 3: To a kid to a whatever. And so, yeah, from
- 13:54Speaker 3: a very... She wasn't.
- 13:55Speaker 6: Underage at that time, though.
- 13:56Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 13:57Speaker 2: She was like 16.
- 13:57Speaker 4: And then there was always like, did she get a
- 13:59Speaker 4: boob job? Everyone was wondering, did she get a boob
- 14:02Speaker 4: job or was she so young and the boobs perked?
- 14:04Speaker 4: To this day, we don't know. And I remember my
- 14:07Speaker 4: sister like went to go see Crossroads and was like,
- 14:09Speaker 4: I definitely think she got a boob job. Like everyone
- 14:11Speaker 4: is still, was still speculating on a girl that was.
- 14:14Speaker 6: looked at Jamie Lynn and seen and compared. Well, no,
- 14:19Speaker 6: wouldn't that be siblings? Most people have gotten. Her breasts
- 14:23Speaker 6: are like that, then her breasts are, no, does that
- 14:25Speaker 6: not work like that?
- 14:26Speaker 4: The point of the story is people like yourself were
- 14:28Speaker 4: speculating on it and going, should we look at the
- 14:31Speaker 4: little sister?
- 14:31Speaker 3: It's creep. It's creep.
- 14:34Speaker 6: You make it sound like little sister is an adult.
- 14:36Speaker 3: And you remember where we were.
- 14:39Speaker 4: When we heard that the little sister was pregnant, Zoe 101,
- 14:43Speaker 4: was pregnant.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Let me tell you something.
- 14:44Speaker 4: And also, I kind of think it's interesting now, her
- 14:47Speaker 4: reaction being that she did, you know, have a teen pregnancy, Brittany.
- 14:52Speaker 4: And I remember they stopped her, and she was already
- 14:55Speaker 4: at the gas stations, barefoot, doing her weirdness. And they're like,
- 14:59Speaker 4: what about your sister being pregnant, Brittany? And she's like,
- 15:01Speaker 4: she's not pregnant.
- 15:02Speaker 3: That's not true. So we all didn't think it was true.
- 15:05Speaker 3: And then it was.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Towards the end of a day at Chelsea Lately when
- 15:10Speaker 4: the news was confirmed and Jamie Lynn said, yes, I
- 15:13Speaker 4: am pregnant.
- 15:14Speaker 6: It was our 9-11.
- 15:16Speaker 2: It was.
- 15:17Speaker 6: I remember because I was doing business school at the time.
- 15:20Speaker 6: So I would do the mornings at Chelsea Lately and
- 15:23Speaker 6: then the afternoon and evening I would go to class.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:26Speaker 6: And I remember I went. And like I was leaving
- 15:29Speaker 6: and I was driving the car and it came out
- 15:31Speaker 6: and I turned my car back around to come back
- 15:34Speaker 6: to the studio. I skipped class that night because I
- 15:35Speaker 6: was like, this is an emergency. This is our 9-11.
- 15:38Speaker 6: We must report on it.
- 15:39Speaker 4: We stayed and then we're like, what are we going
- 15:41Speaker 4: to do for the cold open? And we literally filmed
- 15:44Speaker 4: a sketch that was like chaos in a newsroom. Like
- 15:48Speaker 4: things were body. We had like a dummy being thrown through.
- 15:52Speaker 4: We did all this funny stuff of everyone like... Like
- 15:55Speaker 4: an alarm system going.
- 15:56Speaker 6: We had the time of our lives.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah, maybe.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I hope they get along more later on. Okay, let's see.
- 16:02Speaker 3: What else did she say?
- 16:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I think those were the big things. That shaved
- 16:08Speaker 4: her head to have control. The dad fat shaved her.
- 16:11Speaker 4: She had daiquiris with her mom from the eighth grade on.
- 16:14Speaker 6: I like a fresh banana daiquiri.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Actually, reading about it, I was like. I think this
- 16:20Speaker 3: is kind of fun.
- 16:20Speaker 4: So they would have to go, you know, from wherever
- 16:24Speaker 4: they lived, Mississippi, then to Florida.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Louisiana, right?
- 16:28Speaker 4: Yeah, Louisiana to then go do the kids' show. And
- 16:32Speaker 4: then when they would relax, they would make daiquiris. And
- 16:36Speaker 4: so she would have a daiquiri with her mom. I
- 16:40Speaker 4: know it's bad because she was only like 13, but
- 16:43Speaker 4: for some reason I'm like, why don't I make more daiquiris?
- 16:46Speaker 4: I was literally like, why don't I make more daiquiris?
- 16:49Speaker 3: Daiquiris are rums, right?
- 16:51Speaker 6: It's rum and fruit and ice.
- 16:55Speaker 4: I used to order like a virgin daiquiri all the time,
- 16:59Speaker 4: like on vacations at restaurants, all that stuff when I
- 17:02Speaker 4: was younger. So that was, let me see if there
- 17:05Speaker 4: was anything else with this. Just kind of I feel
- 17:10Speaker 4: like I'm missing a page. Anyway, what else was there? Oh,
- 17:14Speaker 4: she also said this.
- 17:15Speaker 3: I thought this was good, whether this was the ghostwriter
- 17:17Speaker 3: or her.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Think of how many male artists gambled all their money away,
- 17:22Speaker 4: how many had substance abuse or mental health issues. No
- 17:26Speaker 4: one tried to take away their control over their bodies
- 17:28Speaker 4: and money. I didn't deserve what my family did to me.
- 17:31Speaker 4: That's directly from the memoir.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I totally agree.
- 17:35Speaker 4: I mean, think about Robert Downey Jr., how many chances
- 17:37Speaker 4: he got. He's the only person that could play Iron Man. Like,
- 17:41Speaker 4: you know, I mean, I think he's cool, but, like,
- 17:43Speaker 4: come on. He's a super nice guy. I mean, I'm
- 17:45Speaker 4: sure he is, but I'm just like, you're right. So
- 17:48Speaker 4: much of the men around her controlling her. So she
- 17:52Speaker 4: shaved her head. That was my way of pushing back.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Had to go to bed early after this.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Had to go to bed early and take whatever medications
- 18:00Speaker 4: they told me to take. And then she's like, if
- 18:02Speaker 4: I was so fucked up, I think it's so funny
- 18:03Speaker 4: about all the awards that I did win during that time.
- 18:09Speaker 4: You know, so I will definitely get the book. Oh,
- 18:14Speaker 4: and then also, sorry, what were you going to say?
- 18:15Speaker 6: I was going to say, but now she's free and
- 18:17Speaker 6: all she does is do Instagram dancing videos.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:20Speaker 6: So like, you're not like, I was so impressed and
- 18:23Speaker 6: now I'm still just stuck in my house doing these.
- 18:26Speaker 6: And does she own a pair of pants? I mean,
- 18:28Speaker 6: it's everything is in a bikini bottom or whatever. It's
- 18:31Speaker 6: just like, I don't know. Get it together, Brittany.
- 18:33Speaker 3: She, um.
- 18:35Speaker 4: The audio is going to be by Michelle Williams, Oscar
- 18:39Speaker 4: winner Michelle Williams.
- 18:41Speaker 3: And, you know, and people are like, what's that about?
- 18:44Speaker 6: I'm like, everyone- Is that because Brittany couldn't read it herself?
- 18:47Speaker 6: I'm sorry, that's mean.
- 18:48Speaker 4: No, listen, it is definitely, I've done the audio version
- 18:53Speaker 4: of a book. I think if I was to do
- 18:55Speaker 4: one now, I would be like, I don't care if
- 18:57Speaker 4: I stumble on words, I'm not redoing it. But back
- 18:59Speaker 4: when I did it, they're very strict about- You know,
- 19:02Speaker 4: and you're reading it and you're doing really well.
- 19:04Speaker 3: And then you, oh, right.
- 19:06Speaker 6: We did it for the lies that Chelsea Handler told me.
- 19:08Speaker 6: And also I did it, I was the voice of
- 19:10Speaker 6: Chewy's voice for his little book.
- 19:13Speaker 3: It is a, like it was a challenge.
- 19:14Speaker 4: I don't know how strict, I think it's dumb to
- 19:17Speaker 4: be super strict about it now being that everyone has
- 19:18Speaker 4: a podcast. Why can't you just read it, add stuff?
- 19:21Speaker 4: But I think legally it has to be exactly the
- 19:23Speaker 4: words or something. And so people were speculating, why her?
- 19:28Speaker 4: Are they friends? Is this a favorite? No, it's a
- 19:30Speaker 4: huge fucking fat paycheck. And everyone thinks, oh, someone like.
- 19:34Speaker 6: Michelle- Michelle Williams is a single mom. She needs the money.
- 19:36Speaker 4: We've been on strike for a year. She probably is like, sure,
- 19:39Speaker 4: I'll do it. From my house, someone comes. And she's
- 19:42Speaker 4: probably like, I'm totally curious. I'm dying to read the book.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Let me do it.
- 19:46Speaker 4: But I do think it's interesting to just hear like-
- 19:49Speaker 4: because I remember when I first got my book I
- 19:51Speaker 4: was like well I would like to do the audio
- 19:54Speaker 4: and Back then they were like, no, we're gonna get
- 19:56Speaker 4: a professional audio reader. And I'm like, well then forget it,
- 20:00Speaker 4: then I'm not allowing it. And then when the book
- 20:01Speaker 4: was a bestseller, they're like, okay, we'll let you do
- 20:03Speaker 4: an abridged version.
- 20:05Speaker 3: I'm like.
- 20:05Speaker 6: It's just so silly to me that comedians are the best.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I know.
- 20:08Speaker 6: You know who released just audiobook was David Spade.
- 20:11Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 20:11Speaker 6: And it was the best because it's basically like an hour,
- 20:14Speaker 6: it's a standup and everything and he's reading it and
- 20:19Speaker 6: he never actually released a hard copy. He's like, I'll
- 20:21Speaker 6: just do the audiobook and it's so much better.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 20:24Speaker 3: And so, I mean, what.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Will be so interesting is if she actually, because she's
- 20:32Speaker 4: such a great actress, takes on the persona of Britney
- 20:35Speaker 4: reading it.
- 20:35Speaker 3: That's what I would hope.
- 20:36Speaker 4: If we're going to have an Oscar winner, I don't
- 20:38Speaker 4: want it just to be the way I just read it,
- 20:40Speaker 4: you know, like this line. Over the past 15 years
- 20:45Speaker 4: or even the start of my career, I sat back
- 20:47Speaker 4: while people spoke about me and told my story for me.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Or it could be.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Over the past 15 years, and even at the start
- 20:56Speaker 4: of my career, I sat back while people spoke about
- 21:00Speaker 4: me and told my story for me. Well, after getting
- 21:03Speaker 4: out of my conservatorship, I was finally free to tell
- 21:06Speaker 4: my story without consequences from the people in charge of
- 21:09Speaker 4: my life.
- 21:10Speaker 6: I would buy that.
- 21:11Speaker 3: It better be that.
- 21:12Speaker 6: It better be that.
- 21:13Speaker 4: And it better not just be her reading it like
- 21:16Speaker 4: she was reading to her kid.
- 21:17Speaker 6: Exactly. Put some work into it. Put some effort into it.
- 21:21Speaker 4: So, I mean, lots of juicy books out right now.
- 21:25Speaker 8: Planning on rewarding your staff this year? Struggling to choose
- 21:28Speaker 8: between a shop gift card or a pay anywhere card?
- 21:31Speaker 6: Stop choosing.
- 21:32Speaker 3: With Options Card, your employees get both.
- 21:35Speaker 8: They can spend with Ireland's favourite retailers or choose a card.
- 21:38Speaker 3: You can tap and pay with.
- 21:40Speaker 6: All in one reward.
- 21:41Speaker 8: You choose who to reward and how much. Options Card
- 21:45Speaker 8: handles the rest. It's valid for five years with no
- 21:48Speaker 8: fees chipping away at the balance.
- 21:49Speaker 6: Make your rewards more rewarding.
- 21:52Speaker 8: Visit optionscard.ie today.
- 21:55Speaker 5: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next.
- 21:58Speaker 7: Each week on the show, I sit down with extraordinary
- 22:01Speaker 7: people who have faced tremendous setbacks and yet somehow have
- 22:05Speaker 7: found a way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Life is one long lesson of chaos.
- 22:12Speaker 6: I'm heading to the Emmys and I have police complaints
- 22:14Speaker 6: filed against me. When your free will was about to
- 22:16Speaker 6: be taken from you, what would you do if it
- 22:19Speaker 6: was given back?
- 22:20Speaker 7: Where did that need come from where you thought that
- 22:23Speaker 7: you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
- 22:25Speaker 6: He said, I have a work dad. I need a
- 22:27Speaker 6: home dad. What happens next? When I came in, he
- 22:29Speaker 6: started crying. Everybody in life encounters hardships.
- 22:32Speaker 7: What defines them is not those hard moments that they
- 22:36Speaker 7: go through. It's about what happens next.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I decided to risk it all.
- 22:39Speaker 6: I realized how valuable every day was.
- 22:41Speaker 2: You're worth the work. Listen, Dara, I'm not going to
- 22:44Speaker 2: pull punches. You can use your voice even if it's shaped.
- 22:47Speaker 7: The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Only one question matters. What happens next?
- 23:01Speaker 4: So then, OK, now I would like to talk about
- 23:04Speaker 4: one of my favorite subjects, which is late in life lesbianism.
- 23:07Speaker 4: I am currently wearing my shirt, which you can buy
- 23:10Speaker 4: late in life. It's a great shirt. Everything at Heather
- 23:14Speaker 4: McDowell dot net. The latest is Sophia Bush dating recently
- 23:18Speaker 4: divorced on.
- 23:20Speaker 3: What is that? U.S. Women's National Tennis star Ashlyn Harris.
- 23:27Speaker 6: Was Ashlyn married to a man, too?
- 23:30Speaker 3: Wait, she's tennis or soccer?
- 23:31Speaker 2: She's soccer, right?
- 23:32Speaker 6: No, it's tennis. She's a tennis player.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Wait a minute.
- 23:36Speaker 6: Yes.
- 23:38Speaker 3: It's soccer.
- 23:39Speaker 6: I thought it was tennis. It's soccer. I think Sophia
- 23:42Speaker 6: likes tennis more than she likes soccer.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Wait a minute. Okay, hold on. After being friends for
- 23:48Speaker 3: years and running in the same circle.
- 23:49Speaker 6: Maybe it's soccer.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I'm going to read it to you.
- 23:51Speaker 4: After being friends for years and running in the same
- 23:53Speaker 4: social circles, Sophia, who's an actress, and Ashton went out
- 23:57Speaker 4: on their first dinner date.
- 23:58Speaker 3: A couple of weeks ago. This is recent.
- 24:01Speaker 4: They're both beginning new chapters. They're both getting divorced. Harris
- 24:04Speaker 4: to a woman, Sophia to a man.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Harris is 37.
- 24:07Speaker 3: She filed for divorce from her wife. They have two kids.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Pro soccer player, Allie.
- 24:14Speaker 6: Oh, the wife was a pro soccer player.
- 24:16Speaker 8: Yes.
- 24:16Speaker 4: And then Bush, who calls herself a lifelong soccer fan,
- 24:20Speaker 4: is also an investor in the L.A.-based Angel City Sports.
- 24:23Speaker 3: FC, what does that stand for?
- 24:25Speaker 6: Football club. That was the dead giveaway. Anyone who invested
- 24:27Speaker 6: in that, you're like, oh, maybe you're a lesbian.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I'm kidding. But no, you're not. Okay. And has been
- 24:32Speaker 3: friends with her for a year, announcing her support.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 24:34Speaker 4: So they, I guess she was friends with both of them,
- 24:37Speaker 4: it sounds like. And then her, Sophia's ex, Grant, were
- 24:41Speaker 4: friends for 10 years and bonded during COVID.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I think COVID romances....
- 24:47Speaker 4: I mean, I feel like a lot of COVID romances
- 24:50Speaker 4: are dying now. They got together during COVID. They thought
- 24:54Speaker 4: this is great. And now that they can go to
- 24:56Speaker 4: any restaurant they want, mask free.
- 25:00Speaker 6: Whenever they want.
- 25:02Speaker 7: Yeah, right.
- 25:03Speaker 4: The other day I went to Trader Joe's and you
- 25:05Speaker 4: know how they have like a, you know, the thing
- 25:08Speaker 4: to wipe the.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:09Speaker 6: The carts. No one was using. You didn't use it?
- 25:11Speaker 3: No, I don't give a fuck.
- 25:13Speaker 6: That's so funny. I used that even before the pandemic.
- 25:16Speaker 4: I think I did before the pandemic too. And then
- 25:18Speaker 4: I was like, how could anyone not? How could I
- 25:21Speaker 4: even do– and now.
- 25:22Speaker 6: I'm like– But your hands don't feel gross afterward?
- 25:24Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 25:25Speaker 6: That's so interesting.
- 25:26Speaker 3: I think that's why I have such a great immune system.
- 25:29Speaker 6: Well, but I have a great immune system too.
- 25:31Speaker 5: And I'm the opposite.
- 25:32Speaker 4: I'm just saying I was like I'm purposely not going
- 25:35Speaker 4: to wipe this fucking thing down because I'm just.
- 25:38Speaker 3: As I walk through the valley of death. Here I come.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I'm doing it.
- 25:41Speaker 6: Well, I'm glad someone's enjoying Sophia's Bush.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Very good. And they said, can we call them Harry
- 25:47Speaker 3: Bush as their love name?
- 25:50Speaker 6: That was a- Well, Harry Bush.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Harris Bush.
- 25:54Speaker 6: Well, how do you think this happened, though? Do you
- 25:57Speaker 6: think- I heard a theory from.
- 25:59Speaker 3: A friend- Is your friend straight or gay?
- 26:03Speaker 5: Straight.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Okay.
- 26:04Speaker 3: A girl or a boy?
- 26:05Speaker 2: A boy. Okay.
- 26:07Speaker 6: He's my business partner, Tom.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Tom Brunel.
- 26:10Speaker 6: Tom Brunel. His theory was that they were friends and
- 26:16Speaker 6: Ashlyn kind of really put the moves on hard for
- 26:22Speaker 6: Sophia and she instigated it. And Sophia was like, okay.
- 26:28Speaker 3: You know. I, like I said, love a late in
- 26:31Speaker 3: life lesbian story.
- 26:33Speaker 4: I think, you know, She could go back to guys
- 26:37Speaker 4: who knows.
- 26:37Speaker 3: They could end up together. They could be just friends.
- 26:40Speaker 4: They could be using this just like Kyle of Real
- 26:43Speaker 4: Housewives of Beverly Hills might be using the Morgan Wade
- 26:46Speaker 4: thing to get people talking. That was something that just
- 26:49Speaker 4: came up where they said an insider said she's using
- 26:53Speaker 4: it for.
- 26:53Speaker 3: A juicy storyline.
- 26:54Speaker 4: So I said, well, I am not the insider, even
- 26:57Speaker 4: though I said juicy storyline. And I go back and forth.
- 26:59Speaker 4: I don't know if Kyle is a little bit lesbian-lite.
- 27:02Speaker 6: I think they like playing this game.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Or what?
- 27:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:05Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 27:06Speaker 6: I think everyone's a lesbian now. And I think we're
- 27:08Speaker 6: going to see more of it. And I think there
- 27:10Speaker 6: are some people who- Everyone's a lesbian. Yes. No, I
- 27:15Speaker 6: think who realize that any, whether it's man, woman, whatever,
- 27:19Speaker 6: you come out as something, it is an attention thing.
- 27:21Speaker 6: And I'm not saying that they're not truly a lesbian
- 27:25Speaker 6: or gay or whatever, but like- There is so much
- 27:28Speaker 6: fluidity now and going back and forth and it's not–
- 27:32Speaker 6: it is a publicity bomb. You get a spike.
- 27:35Speaker 4: If Juicy Scoop tanks, I will go to Peter's 45th
- 27:41Speaker 4: reunion and I will get with an old lesbian swimmer.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Oh, that's... And leave Peter for someone that used to
- 27:48Speaker 3: be on a swim team in San Diego.
- 27:49Speaker 2: That's too buff.
- 27:50Speaker 3: I hope I don't have to do that. I don't... Well, no,
- 27:52Speaker 3: she'll be older. Natalie Holloway.
- 27:55Speaker 4: We now know what happened. Jordan Van Der Sloot, who
- 28:00Speaker 4: we knew did it, he was already in prison for
- 28:03Speaker 4: killing another girl. This happened in 2010. She went on
- 28:07Speaker 4: her high school graduation trip with her friends and went
- 28:13Speaker 4: off with some guys, but they didn't know.
- 28:15Speaker 3: They had no evidence. They didn't find her body.
- 28:17Speaker 4: And according to this indictment, Holloway's mother actually wired $ 15, 000
- 28:22Speaker 4: to a bank account In the Netherlands because he said,
- 28:27Speaker 4: I'll tell you where she is. So he's in trouble
- 28:30Speaker 4: for that.
- 28:30Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Like for the wire– Wire fraud.
- 28:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:34Speaker 3: But he has finally stated that he did bludgeon her
- 28:40Speaker 3: to death.
- 28:41Speaker 6: I wonder why now he just said, oh, fine.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Because he says he's a born-again Christian and he actually
- 28:47Speaker 4: is sorry for the crime. Interesting.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 28:51Speaker 4: I mean, he's going to spend the rest of his
- 28:52Speaker 4: life in prison. He was already in prison for this
- 28:55Speaker 4: other girl he killed.
- 28:56Speaker 6: So you might as well just come clean.
- 28:57Speaker 2: And it was like, you know, I think it was.
- 28:58Speaker 4: So weird for people because he came from money. He
- 29:00Speaker 4: was good looking, you know, just, but murders come in
- 29:07Speaker 4: all shapes and sizes and backgrounds and.
- 29:09Speaker 6: All of it. Does that mean we can now just
- 29:12Speaker 6: put this case to rest?
- 29:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:14Speaker 3: And remember there was a moment.
- 29:15Speaker 6: And move on to Jean Benet.
- 29:16Speaker 4: Well, remember there was a moment when Jean Benet's father,
- 29:19Speaker 4: after the wife passed away of cancer, was dating Holloway's mother.
- 29:23Speaker 6: That's right.
- 29:24Speaker 3: But I don't believe they're still dating today. I looked
- 29:26Speaker 3: it up.
- 29:26Speaker 6: Trauma dating.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Yeah. But then I read this other thing.
- 29:29Speaker 6: That's a show we should pitch.
- 29:30Speaker 3: They thought they were dating.
- 29:31Speaker 4: They thought they were dating. Then I thought that they weren't. Brad,
- 29:37Speaker 4: I have a great interview that I want to share
- 29:39Speaker 4: with the people.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Okay. With Miss Pat.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 29:41Speaker 3: But I still have so much to discuss with you.
- 29:43Speaker 7: I know.
- 29:44Speaker 4: So we're going to talk more, even the juicier stuff,
- 29:47Speaker 4: and it will be on my Friday Patreon of Hot

- 30:13Speaker 6: And I've asked you to be on, and you have
- 30:15Speaker 6: said no.
- 30:15Speaker 3: I did not say no. I said I will do
- 30:18Speaker 3: it in November.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 30:19Speaker 4: Because the next couple weeks, I'm super busy with BravoCon
- 30:22Speaker 4: and all this other stuff.
- 30:23Speaker 3: And then, but November, then I have no more dates.
- 30:25Speaker 6: But we have episodes out now with Natasha Leggero, and
- 30:28Speaker 6: people are loving it.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Oh, and Natasha's coming on Juicy Scoop next week.
- 30:32Speaker 6: Of course she is.
- 30:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I just found out about her from your podcast.
- 30:38Speaker 3: I'm just poaching guests. Just poaching guests that I've known

- 30:42Speaker 2: Yeah, okay.
- 30:43Speaker 6: But yeah, it's a fun, fun listen. So Funny Energy,

- 30:57Speaker 2: All right.
- 30:58Speaker 4: I'm very excited to have comedian, podcaster, host of many shows,
- 31:05Speaker 4: your own TV shows, Ms.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Pat. Welcome. I am so excited for my audience to
- 31:11Speaker 3: get to know you better today.
- 31:12Speaker 5: Well, thank you for having me. I was excited when
- 31:15Speaker 5: I got a call.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I was like, you're going to do Heather? I was like, Okay,
- 31:18Speaker 2: I tried many times to get here.
- 31:20Speaker 5: No, you haven't.
- 31:21Speaker 6: Yes, we have.
- 31:21Speaker 2: My schedule just wouldn't let us.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 31:24Speaker 2: I was even leaving.
- 31:25Speaker 4: I'm saying definitely nobody's been like, would you like her?
- 31:28Speaker 3: And I said no.
- 31:29Speaker 4: So I'm glad that it worked out because I like
- 31:32Speaker 4: to have people in person.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Pam has pitched me many times, but it never lines up.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:36Speaker 2: But it did this time.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Good, good. So I want.
- 31:41Speaker 4: You have a very interesting background of how your life
- 31:44Speaker 4: and your kids.
- 31:46Speaker 3: So let's just let.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Everyone know how you got to have such a funny
- 31:49Speaker 4: point of view on your life.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Because I think your point of view is very unique.
- 31:54Speaker 5: Well, if you're not familiar with me, I always like
- 31:56Speaker 5: to start from the beginning. I had two kids by
- 31:58Speaker 5: my man by the time I was 15.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Wait, you're married? Wait, you had two kids by the
- 32:03Speaker 3: time you were 15?
- 32:03Speaker 2: Yeah, by my married man. I wasn't married.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Oh, how did you meet him?
- 32:07Speaker 2: At the skating rink.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Roller skating. God, I loved roller skating. So did he.
- 32:15Speaker 3: So wait a minute. So you're in high school.
- 32:17Speaker 2: No, I'm not in high school.
- 32:18Speaker 3: At that time, yeah, you had to be in high school.
- 32:20Speaker 5: No, I'm 51. So it was no middle school. So
- 32:24Speaker 5: you went from elementary straight to high school back in
- 32:27Speaker 5: those days in some area. So I was in elementary school.
- 32:31Speaker 3: You were still like... Up to the eighth grade or whatever,
- 32:34Speaker 3: ninth grade.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it went to the eighth grade.
- 32:36Speaker 4: Okay, and so you're there roller skating around.
- 32:39Speaker 5: I went to a kid's night, like a little teen night,
- 32:42Speaker 5: and he was there.
- 32:44Speaker 3: And how old was he?
- 32:44Speaker 2: 22, married with a baby on the way.
- 32:47Speaker 3: And so he starts flirting with you.
- 32:49Speaker 5: No, he started coming by the next day, and we
- 32:53Speaker 5: kind of got to know each other. And, you know,
- 32:55Speaker 5: I'm this little girl, oh, boyfriend, which is with somebody's
- 32:59Speaker 5: whole husband.
- 33:01Speaker 2: And I ended up getting pregnant, and I ended up
- 33:04Speaker 2: having two kids. Dropped out of school in the eighth grade.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Did the woman know about you?
- 33:07Speaker 2: Yeah, she knocked on.
- 33:08Speaker 5: My door and told me I was pregnant by her husband.
- 33:11Speaker 4: Now, what city were you growing up in?
- 33:13Speaker 2: I grew up in Atlanta.
- 33:14Speaker 3: So what did your mom say?
- 33:17Speaker 2: Uh, nothing. My mom was an alcoholic.
- 33:21Speaker 5: I mean, pretty much I raised myself.
- 33:24Speaker 2: So, you know, she... One thing I know about life, um.
- 33:30Speaker 5: Curses are passed down. What happened to my mom, she
- 33:34Speaker 5: allowed it to happen to me. But when it got
- 33:37Speaker 5: to me, I stopped it from happening to my daughter.
- 33:39Speaker 5: So generation curses are true. I used to tell this bit,
- 33:44Speaker 5: if your mom got welfare, then the child is going
- 33:47Speaker 5: to get welfare. The only reason why my daughter don't
- 33:49Speaker 5: get welfare is because she's gay and she don't.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Have no kids.
- 33:54Speaker 5: So the curse was stopped right there when my daughter
- 33:57Speaker 5: decided to eat what she was born with.
- 33:59Speaker 2: So there was no need for her to go on
- 34:02Speaker 2: the system.
- 34:03Speaker 3: When did she come out?
- 34:05Speaker 2: My daughter?
- 34:05Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 34:06Speaker 5: Oh, child, I knew my daughter was gay from ever,
- 34:09Speaker 5: from the beginning. You know, you being denial, but, you know,
- 34:13Speaker 5: my daughter been licking plates the wrong way since she
- 34:16Speaker 5: was a baby.
- 34:20Speaker 2: If your child is gay.
- 34:22Speaker 5: And you fucking, excuse me, I don't know if I'm cursed,
- 34:24Speaker 5: but if you look the other way, you are.
- 34:27Speaker 2: A damn fool.
- 34:28Speaker 5: Now, today, kids come out your vagina with a fucking
- 34:32Speaker 5: gay flag in their hand.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Back then, the flag would fold up nice and neat.
- 34:36Speaker 5: But my daughter was gay from day one. There was
- 34:42Speaker 5: no doubting she was gay. You can look the other way,
- 34:44Speaker 5: but you know. I mean, it's the same when we
- 34:47Speaker 5: tell you if your child is sick. Or if your
- 34:50Speaker 5: child is not feeling well.
- 34:51Speaker 2: It's the same thing. So you know your child is
- 34:53Speaker 2: not acting a certain way.
- 34:55Speaker 5: And as she got older, and she was stuck in
- 35:01Speaker 5: that closet, you know, she started to get meaner. She
- 35:04Speaker 5: didn't like me because I didn't like gay women. So
- 35:06Speaker 5: just so many clues there. But I'm fine with her now.
- 35:10Speaker 5: I mean, she go through women like we go through lipstick.
- 35:13Speaker 3: She's a player?
- 35:15Speaker 2: She's a whore.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Oh.
- 35:15Speaker 2: She's a hoe.
- 35:20Speaker 5: I told him, I'm glad you gay because you probably
- 35:22Speaker 5: will have a lot of kids.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 35:27Speaker 4: Okay, so the guy is coming around, and you have
- 35:30Speaker 4: the one baby with him.
- 35:31Speaker 5: And then I have another baby. I had a baby
- 35:33Speaker 5: at 14, and I had another baby at 15.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Both by him?
- 35:36Speaker 2: Yeah, both by him.
- 35:37Speaker 4: And was the wife nasty to you? I mean, did
- 35:41Speaker 4: she want to, like, hurt you for coming out with
- 35:43Speaker 4: her baby?
- 35:43Speaker 5: Well, she was mad, but when she showed up and
- 35:45Speaker 5: realized I was a damn kid— Because she probably was 19.
- 35:50Speaker 2: And I was 14. Wow.
- 35:53Speaker 5: So for you to show up and, you know, and
- 35:56Speaker 5: you see your husband having an affair with a 14-year-old,
- 35:59Speaker 5: what do you do?
- 36:00Speaker 2: I mean, my whole thing is I thought.
- 36:02Speaker 5: I was in love and I wasn't going anywhere because
- 36:05Speaker 5: I just thought, you know, he said the right thing
- 36:07Speaker 5: to me, which is I love you.
- 36:09Speaker 2: So I wasn't willing to let go.
- 36:11Speaker 5: So eventually I ran her off and I thought I
- 36:13Speaker 5: was going to be number one child.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Bitches started falling out the sky like rain.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Well, like, I can't even imagine.
- 36:22Speaker 4: So you're this little kid, like, having a baby, and
- 36:25Speaker 4: then you took care of your baby yourself every day.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:29Speaker 3: So then you couldn't go to school anymore at that point.
- 36:32Speaker 5: I could go to school, but, you know, it was
- 36:33Speaker 5: more interesting stuff outside of school to do.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:36Speaker 5: Sign up for a week, go to doctor's appointments, you know,
- 36:39Speaker 5: do motherly shit. So, and then, you know, I was,
- 36:42Speaker 5: we was really, we was poor, so I needed.
- 36:45Speaker 2: To take care of this baby. So I had to
- 36:47Speaker 2: go get a job to take care of this baby.
- 36:50Speaker 3: As a teenager?
- 36:52Speaker 2: As a kid.
- 36:54Speaker 4: I mean, I just can't even imagine my kids being
- 36:58Speaker 4: in that position.
- 36:59Speaker 3: They would never know what to do. And then, and
- 37:02Speaker 3: nobody thought.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Like, we need to get the authorities involved because this
- 37:07Speaker 4: guy is an adult.
- 37:07Speaker 5: Nobody cares when you poor. And see, that's one thing
- 37:10Speaker 5: about what society don't realize. They don't care about, it's
- 37:15Speaker 5: really not a race thing when you poor. You just
- 37:17Speaker 5: fucking poor. This could have happened to a little white girl.
- 37:20Speaker 5: This could have happened to anybody. But when you don't
- 37:24Speaker 5: have the right people around kids or in your life,
- 37:27Speaker 5: nobody cares. And nobody damn sure don't care about a
- 37:30Speaker 5: little black girl getting pregnant in a seven crate.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Wow.
- 37:34Speaker 4: So you manage to have these two kids. When do
- 37:38Speaker 4: you stop having contact with this man so you don't.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Have a third with him?
- 37:41Speaker 4: Oh, years.
- 37:41Speaker 2: I was with him for 10 years.
- 37:42Speaker 3: You were with him for 10 years.
- 37:44Speaker 4: Now, how did you make sure you didn't have a
- 37:46Speaker 4: third baby by him?
- 37:47Speaker 2: I had an abortion. Oh, okay. A few miscarriages.
- 37:50Speaker 5: I just knew what it was costing me to take
- 37:52Speaker 5: care of these first two kids and how much.
- 37:55Speaker 2: I was struggling. I was like, I don't want no
- 37:57Speaker 2: more kids. I can't. You know, I had an abortion
- 37:59Speaker 2: when I was 16 right after my son. And I
- 38:02Speaker 2: just said.
- 38:03Speaker 5: I can't afford it. And so I divorced my mom.
- 38:08Speaker 5: I became a emancipated minor. And I was like, I
- 38:10Speaker 5: can't do this. This is just costing me so much. And,
- 38:13Speaker 5: you know, when you go out and fill out an
- 38:15Speaker 5: application at 16 years old for a full-time job, and
- 38:18Speaker 5: people are like, you're supposed to be in fucking school.
- 38:20Speaker 5: So I couldn't really get a job without a work permit.
- 38:23Speaker 5: So I became a drug dealer. Nobody wanted a work
- 38:26Speaker 5: permit for that. They just wanted good crack. And good
- 38:29Speaker 5: crack is what I had.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Now, how did you get involved in that?
- 38:35Speaker 2: Thank God for Ronald Reagan.
- 38:36Speaker 5: He dropped drugs in the black community, as we say.
- 38:43Speaker 2: According to society.
- 38:44Speaker 3: So this was like what year? This 80 what?
- 38:47Speaker 2: Late 80s.
- 38:48Speaker 5: Wow.
- 38:49Speaker 2: The black community about 80. My daughter was born in 86.
- 38:52Speaker 2: So by 85, 86, by 88, I was selling dope.
- 39:00Speaker 3: And how would you, like, how does that work?
- 39:03Speaker 4: Like, so you get it from somebody.
- 39:04Speaker 2: We buy a little bit.
- 39:06Speaker 5: I took my welfare check at the time, which was $ 230,
- 39:08Speaker 5: and I bought my, I.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Think, I can't even remember. I think it used to
- 39:12Speaker 2: be called a quarter.
- 39:13Speaker 5: It was called like $ 200 back in the day. And
- 39:16Speaker 5: you would cut it up, and you would get $ 400
- 39:17Speaker 5: worth of crack out of it.
- 39:20Speaker 2: And you just keep doubling it. And that's what I did.
- 39:24Speaker 3: And then people just knew?
- 39:25Speaker 5: Yeah, people just knew who Rabbit was because I had
- 39:28Speaker 5: my own little trap.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Oh, your name was Rabbit?
- 39:30Speaker 2: That's my childhood name, yeah.
- 39:32Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 39:34Speaker 2: The Jordanians are like rappers. We don't use our government names.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Okay.
- 39:38Speaker 4: So then people just knew you'd be at this location
- 39:42Speaker 4: at this time?
- 39:42Speaker 2: Yeah, all the time.
- 39:43Speaker 5: It was like when you set up a trap, it's
- 39:45Speaker 5: like you're a stove front. Back in those days, people
- 39:48Speaker 5: sold drugs for respect. You don't come to my trap.
- 39:51Speaker 5: This is my area. So I had my own little area,
- 39:54Speaker 5: which was my old neighborhood where I grew up at.
- 39:58Speaker 3: But what about the other drug dealers?
- 40:00Speaker 4: Did they respect you or were they mad that you
- 40:04Speaker 4: were doing well or that you were a woman?
- 40:08Speaker 5: Well, I was the most popular drug dealer in the trap,
- 40:11Speaker 5: so I didn't have a problem. If you tried to sell,
- 40:13Speaker 5: it really didn't affect me because everybody came to look
- 40:16Speaker 5: for me.
- 40:17Speaker 4: So is that when you realized that you were the
- 40:20Speaker 4: funniest drug dealer in town?
- 40:21Speaker 2: No, I wasn't funny then. No, no, no.
- 40:24Speaker 3: What about just having like a sparkling personality? Like if
- 40:27Speaker 3: I'm going to buy, you know, it's just like anything.
- 40:29Speaker 4: If I'm going to go to a doctor, if I'm
- 40:30Speaker 4: going to go, I want to go to the person that,
- 40:32Speaker 4: you know, I have some good convo with.
- 40:34Speaker 5: Well, you can't really make people laugh when they hide
- 40:37Speaker 5: because they don't even see you.
- 40:39Speaker 2: So I didn't realize I had such a big personality.
- 40:42Speaker 2: I was just outspoken. I said whatever the hell I
- 40:45Speaker 2: wanted to say. And if you laugh, you laugh.
- 40:47Speaker 5: I wasn't there for entertainment. But, I mean, to me,
- 40:50Speaker 5: I was a pretty good damn drug dealer. Comedy came
- 40:53Speaker 5: along later once I....
- 40:57Speaker 2: I went through the welfare to work program. I met
- 40:59Speaker 2: a caseworker.
- 41:00Speaker 5: This is the first time I voted for Bill Clinton
- 41:01Speaker 5: because he was cute.
- 41:03Speaker 2: So I went through.
- 41:06Speaker 5: That program and I met a caseworker, which the caseworker
- 41:09Speaker 5: thought that I was a, like, she was like, what
- 41:11Speaker 5: do you want to go to school for? Because at
- 41:13Speaker 5: the time you had to get your GED or you
- 41:15Speaker 5: would lose your benefits or you had to go to work.
- 41:17Speaker 5: That was, it was welfare to work program.
- 41:19Speaker 2: So my caseworker was like, you dropped out in eighth grade.
- 41:22Speaker 2: Why don't you get a GED? And I was like,
- 41:24Speaker 2: for what? And she said, as I went through the
- 41:27Speaker 2: GED program, she was like, you're really funny. Why don't
- 41:29Speaker 2: you try comedy? I said, what the hell is comedy?
- 41:32Speaker 2: And she was like, like Richard Pryor.
- 41:34Speaker 5: I didn't even know Richard Pryor was a comedian.
- 41:35Speaker 2: I thought he was just a funny-ass actor.
- 41:37Speaker 5: And so I started to do some research at the
- 41:40Speaker 5: LaWare Fair Center. And I was like, this man make
- 41:42Speaker 5: this kind of money telling jokes? And I was like, shit.
- 41:46Speaker 2: I tell shit all the time on the phone talking
- 41:47Speaker 2: to my girlfriend. So I went to an open mic.
- 41:50Speaker 3: In Atlanta.
- 41:51Speaker 2: In Atlanta. A place called The Pub. And I never stopped.
- 41:55Speaker 4: So the first time you got up there, did you
- 41:57Speaker 4: have even like notes written down or I'm just going
- 41:59Speaker 4: to get up and tell a story or what?
- 42:01Speaker 5: I had a joke about my brother being a fat
- 42:03Speaker 5: cat burglar. And it was this lady in the audience
- 42:06Speaker 5: that was drunk, was acting a fool. So I immediately
- 42:08Speaker 5: turned my attention to her and just started talking shit
- 42:11Speaker 5: to her.
- 42:11Speaker 2: And everybody was crying. I was so nervous. And I
- 42:14Speaker 2: was like, this is it. Oh, I can do this.
- 42:17Speaker 3: So you do a lot of crowd work still?
- 42:19Speaker 7: No.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Oh, now you don't.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I tell a lot of stories.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Yeah, me too.
- 42:22Speaker 5: I do some crowd work towards the end just to
- 42:24Speaker 5: mingle with the audience. But I mostly tell a lot
- 42:27Speaker 5: of stories about, you know, how I grew up or
- 42:30Speaker 5: being married for 31 years or, you know, having just life.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Okay, so then when did you get married?
- 42:35Speaker 2: 1992.
- 42:38Speaker 3: So had you started comedy yet or no?
- 42:41Speaker 2: No.
- 42:42Speaker 3: And who did you marry?
- 42:43Speaker 2: A nice guy named Garrett.
- 42:45Speaker 3: And how did you meet him?
- 42:47Speaker 2: Actually, we went to an open mic night, and it
- 42:51Speaker 2: was Bruce Bruce was the host.
- 42:52Speaker 3: So you were just watching it?
- 42:55Speaker 2: We all went to hang out one night.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Oh, but you weren't performing yet?
- 42:58Speaker 4: Mm-mm.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:59Speaker 5: It wasn't even on my mind. We just went to
- 43:00Speaker 5: go and watch Bruce Bruce. It was lip singing and
- 43:03Speaker 5: comedy together.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Okay.
- 43:05Speaker 5: So my friend knew my husband's brother. So we said, hey,
- 43:10Speaker 5: we just all go down here and have a good
- 43:11Speaker 5: time together, and that's what we did.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 43:14Speaker 3: And then, so they got married.
- 43:17Speaker 5: Yep, got married at a courthouse, and my kids needed
- 43:21Speaker 5: a father. And I ended up getting custody of my
- 43:24Speaker 5: sister's four kids, raised them for 10 years.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Gave them back.
- 43:28Speaker 4: Okay, so let's talk about that, because I remember that
- 43:30Speaker 4: being part of some of your sitcoms that you've sold
- 43:33Speaker 4: and stuff, was about also taking care of your sister's kids, right?
- 43:37Speaker 4: So how did that come about?
- 43:39Speaker 5: So my sister was on crack at the time, and
- 43:41Speaker 5: then I was coming out of the world of selling
- 43:43Speaker 5: crack because my husband was up.
- 43:45Speaker 2: A church guy.
- 43:45Speaker 3: The new Garrett was?
- 43:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 43:48Speaker 5: He just wasn't, he wasn't raised the way I was.
- 43:51Speaker 5: So he was like, well, you know, just go get
- 43:53Speaker 5: a job. And I'm like, get a job? Who get
- 43:55Speaker 5: a job? Why don't you get a job with all
- 43:57Speaker 5: this money out here? So for love, I traded in
- 44:01Speaker 5: the streets. And right after I traded in the streets,
- 44:04Speaker 5: my sister was losing her kids. And the defect worker said,
- 44:07Speaker 5: somebody don't come get them today. I have to put
- 44:09Speaker 5: them in a home.
- 44:10Speaker 2: And so my sister had four girls. And I was like, nah.
- 44:14Speaker 2: I said, this is family.
- 44:15Speaker 5: I don't want that to happen. So I went and
- 44:17Speaker 5: got them. And for 10 years, I raised them.
- 44:19Speaker 4: And so when you took the four kids into your house,
- 44:22Speaker 4: with your kids, what were the ages when all six
- 44:25Speaker 4: kids were in your house?
- 44:26Speaker 2: Well, the two oldest was the same age.
- 44:28Speaker 5: I think there was around eight or nine, because that's
- 44:31Speaker 5: when I met my husband. My son was probably seven.
- 44:35Speaker 5: My sister had a six-month-old. She had a one-year-old. Six-month-old,
- 44:40Speaker 5: she had a baby about to turn two. And then
- 44:43Speaker 5: she probably had a three-year-old. So we had babies, babies.
- 44:47Speaker 5: And my husband had no kids at the time.
- 44:49Speaker 3: And now he has six.
- 44:51Speaker 5: Well, at the time, he had six.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Wow. And you never had any more kids yourself?
- 44:59Speaker 2: Yes, I had two by my husband.
- 45:00Speaker 3: So then you had two with Garrett.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Later on, I had two more.
- 45:03Speaker 4: Okay, so then when you had the four kids and
- 45:04Speaker 4: your sister is... Not getting better?
- 45:07Speaker 2: No, she's not getting better.
- 45:09Speaker 4: And at any point, was she calling you and wanting
- 45:12Speaker 4: to see the kids or being resentful? How was your
- 45:15Speaker 4: relationship with her being that she was, you know, a
- 45:18Speaker 4: drug addict and you're raising her kids?
- 45:20Speaker 5: I don't have patience with people. You know, it's no
- 45:24Speaker 5: problem with me saying fuck off. And for years, she
- 45:26Speaker 5: didn't see the kids, but. Where I went wrong, I
- 45:29Speaker 5: only had temporary custody because I always wanted to give
- 45:31Speaker 5: my sister her kids back.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Right.
- 45:33Speaker 5: When she was able and ready. And she found out
- 45:35Speaker 5: that I had temporary custody. I never turned it over
- 45:38Speaker 5: to permanent custody. And she came and got them. And
- 45:41Speaker 5: they're all on drugs now. So now, fast forward to 2023,
- 45:45Speaker 5: I'm raising one of the kids who I raised.
- 45:47Speaker 2: I'm raising her.
- 45:48Speaker 5: Four kids because she's on drugs. And I've had them
- 45:52Speaker 5: now for 10 years. Her baby was hard. I think
- 45:57Speaker 5: a month, not even a month old when I got her.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Well, this is exactly what you talked about. The curse.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:07Speaker 3: So that child. So after the 10 years, then they
- 46:12Speaker 3: went back to her.
- 46:13Speaker 2: My sister's kids.
- 46:14Speaker 4: Your sister's kids went back to her. And at that
- 46:17Speaker 4: point they were.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Pre-teens, teens?
- 46:19Speaker 2: They were pre-teen. They was in high school, get grades
- 46:21Speaker 2: and everything. And they all just got on drugs.
- 46:23Speaker 3: And how did you feel about them going back to her?
- 46:25Speaker 3: Were you like relieved or.
- 46:27Speaker 6: Were you worried?
- 46:28Speaker 5: No, I was very hurt because I knew how my
- 46:30Speaker 5: mama raised us. And my sister was a lot like
- 46:33Speaker 5: my mother. And at first I started to fight it.
- 46:37Speaker 5: And then everybody was like, oh, you know, you should
- 46:39Speaker 5: give her her kids back. And I was like, y'all
- 46:41Speaker 5: know this girl is not capable of taking care of
- 46:43Speaker 5: her kids. You know she, and I used to tell
- 46:45Speaker 5: my brothers, I said, you know, She's going to do
- 46:48Speaker 5: the same thing to those kids all mama did to us.
- 46:52Speaker 5: And so, you know, I didn't get any support from
- 46:55Speaker 5: the family. So I was like, fuck it. I'm going
- 46:57Speaker 5: to go live my life. My whole life I've been
- 47:00Speaker 5: here trying to save my family. Yeah.
- 47:02Speaker 2: So I said, fuck them. And I just walked away
- 47:05Speaker 2: and I let her have her kids. So every now
- 47:06Speaker 2: and then I would bump into them.
- 47:10Speaker 5: My niece, who was a really good track star, ended
- 47:12Speaker 5: up immediately getting pregnant.
- 47:15Speaker 8: Then....
- 47:17Speaker 2: The other ones got pregnant.
- 47:18Speaker 4: And if she was with you, if she would have
- 47:19Speaker 4: stayed with you, she probably would have gone on or
- 47:22Speaker 4: gone on to play for, you know, college or something.
- 47:25Speaker 3: I mean, whatever on or something.
- 47:27Speaker 2: We had plans.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:28Speaker 2: She was a senior. We was filling our college applications
- 47:30Speaker 2: when our mama came in.
- 47:31Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. What a heartbreaking.
- 47:33Speaker 5: So when she left and she got pregnant, you know,
- 47:38Speaker 5: the struggle was real.
- 47:39Speaker 2: I just cut them off because sometimes, you know. You
- 47:42Speaker 2: have to, sometimes you have.
- 47:43Speaker 5: To remove toxic situations out of your life.
- 47:46Speaker 2: If not, then you become toxic. So I just said,
- 47:50Speaker 2: that's it. You know, fuck them.
- 47:52Speaker 5: And that was, let's say I know my niece dropped
- 47:54Speaker 5: out of school. My niece got.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Pregnant at 11. 11 of 12.
- 47:59Speaker 3: 11.
- 48:00Speaker 5: And I remember because my sister called me and said
- 48:03Speaker 5: that the school was mad because she's so fucking dumb.
- 48:07Speaker 5: The school was mad because she gave the kids in
- 48:10Speaker 5: the sixth. Because her daughter's birthday was late and she
- 48:12Speaker 5: was held back. And I think she was in the
- 48:14Speaker 5: sixth or seventh grade pregnant. And she gave our baby
- 48:17Speaker 5: shower invitation.
- 48:20Speaker 2: And I was like, are you fucking stupid?
- 48:22Speaker 5: This is not a birthday party. So I just continued
- 48:27Speaker 5: to remove them out of my life. And then I
- 48:29Speaker 5: was in Atlanta one day, because all of them had kids.
- 48:33Speaker 5: One of them went to jail for abusing the kids.
- 48:34Speaker 5: It was all kind of crazy shit.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Make a long story short. So you're just doing your
- 48:39Speaker 3: own thing, and then your phone rings.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 48:41Speaker 3: And they're like, can we please speak to you? And
- 48:44Speaker 3: you're just like, oh, shit. I know this is something.
- 48:48Speaker 5: Well, they started to call, and I just really removed
- 48:53Speaker 5: myself from them.
- 48:54Speaker 2: I didn't want to be bothered with anybody anymore.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Now, at this point, when the sister takes over the kids,
- 48:59Speaker 4: do you have a career in comedy yet?
- 49:04Speaker 2: Comedy is just now kicking off. I'm trying to be
- 49:07Speaker 2: a comedian.
- 49:08Speaker 3: And does the sister know that?
- 49:10Speaker 2: Yeah, she knows that.
- 49:11Speaker 3: And is she like, go girl, or is she like, oh,
- 49:13Speaker 3: you think you're all that?
- 49:17Speaker 5: They didn't think it was serious until it got to
- 49:19Speaker 5: this stage now.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Okay.
- 49:21Speaker 3: So you're not rolling in the money.
- 49:23Speaker 4: You're just struggling like everybody else trying to be the
- 49:26Speaker 4: good aunt and mom figure to all these kids.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Yeah, no. When they was with me, I didn't have nothing.
- 49:34Speaker 2: I'm on welfare. I'm based on income housing. I'm working.
- 49:39Speaker 5: And I'm just doing things to get by. And then
- 49:42Speaker 5: comedy come along, and I find something. And it comes
- 49:45Speaker 5: along right after my sister take her kids.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Okay. Sometimes you got to be still and let God
- 49:50Speaker 2: guide you. I was heartbroken.
- 49:52Speaker 5: I mean, I don't use the word depression because the
- 49:55Speaker 5: word depression is too strong. Because when you use that word,
- 49:58Speaker 5: your mind controls the.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Body and how the body feels. So if you speak that,
- 50:04Speaker 2: the body will start to feel that.
- 50:06Speaker 5: But I was heartbroken because I knew Where I was
- 50:09Speaker 5: trying to break a generation of Christ, I mean Christ,
- 50:11Speaker 5: generation of curse of high school dropout teenage pregnant molestation.
- 50:16Speaker 2: My sister just threw her kids back into that pit.
- 50:19Speaker 5: So my daughter and my niece was the first two
- 50:22Speaker 5: to graduate in three generations. And I just said, I'm
- 50:25Speaker 5: going to focus on my own kids. Because for that
- 50:28Speaker 5: part of my life, I had focused on saving family
- 50:30Speaker 5: members along with my kids.
- 50:32Speaker 2: And then, you know, I was neglecting my own kids.
- 50:36Speaker 5: So I went ahead and I raised my kids and
- 50:39Speaker 5: And I always had the family that I wanted to have,
- 50:41Speaker 5: and I just didn't talk to them. And then fast
- 50:44Speaker 5: forward 10 years ago, I'm riding in Atlanta, and I
- 50:47Speaker 5: get a phone call, and my niece tells me she
- 50:50Speaker 5: needs pampers.
- 50:51Speaker 2: For her baby, and she's pregnant with another baby.
- 50:53Speaker 5: She had four kids. She had three outside the stomach
- 50:55Speaker 5: and one inside. And I don't even think she was 20.
- 50:57Speaker 5: And my other niece who I raised, she's 22, and
- 51:01Speaker 5: she got seven kids. So... And I asked her where
- 51:04Speaker 5: she was at, and no lie, I was right at
- 51:07Speaker 5: the exit where she was at. So I went to
- 51:08Speaker 5: this drug-infected area and dropped off some pampers and milk,
- 51:13Speaker 5: and I just said, Lord, you're not about to trick
- 51:15Speaker 5: me into this bullshit again. And I ended up having
- 51:18Speaker 5: Christmas dinner with them, and I brought her home with
- 51:20Speaker 5: her four kids back to my house.
- 51:23Speaker 4: And this is only 10 years ago, so now you've
- 51:25Speaker 4: been successful for quite a while.
- 51:27Speaker 3: Well, yeah.
- 51:27Speaker 2: So I get these kids, and my career's starting to
- 51:30Speaker 2: take off.
- 51:31Speaker 5: I go on tour with Cat Williams and stuff, and
- 51:34Speaker 5: And make a long story short, I was going to
- 51:37Speaker 5: get these kids.
- 51:38Speaker 2: She run off and leave me with these four kids.
- 51:40Speaker 3: So she comes to Christmas.
- 51:42Speaker 2: She moves in with me in Indiana. Okay. I'm helping
- 51:45Speaker 2: her get off drugs. I put in a drug. This
- 51:47Speaker 2: is my niece.
- 51:48Speaker 5: A drug rehab. Her baby dad is in jail for
- 51:51Speaker 5: armed robbery. I'm like, I teach her how to drive.
- 51:53Speaker 5: I buy her a car. I help her get an apartment.
- 51:55Speaker 5: I help her get a job.
- 51:56Speaker 2: She makes supervisor.
- 51:58Speaker 5: I'm putting in a GED program. Everything to make her
- 52:00Speaker 5: life right. And she said, I'm missing something, which is drugs.
- 52:04Speaker 5: And she get back on drugs.
- 52:06Speaker 3: What was her drug?
- 52:07Speaker 2: Everything.
- 52:08Speaker 5: You name it, she was doing it. She just leave
- 52:10Speaker 5: me with these four kids. I tell her, come back
- 52:12Speaker 5: and give me four cusses.
- 52:13Speaker 2: And she said, no.
- 52:15Speaker 5: Because, you know, they're my kids. I don't want to
- 52:16Speaker 5: give you four cusses. I said, Lord, I'm putting them
- 52:18Speaker 5: in the fucking foster care. And I tell this bit
- 52:22Speaker 5: on stage. And God whispered in my ear and said,
- 52:24Speaker 5: keep them and I got you. My whole career took
- 52:26Speaker 5: off within that year.
- 52:27Speaker 3: I have chills right now.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Within that year.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Were you really on stage and you really felt a voice?
- 52:33Speaker 2: I felt a voice.
- 52:33Speaker 5: It was a warm voice in my right ear. And
- 52:35Speaker 5: it said, keep them. Because I said, I can't do this.
- 52:38Speaker 5: I said, I'm trying to have a career. I'm trying
- 52:40Speaker 5: to do something right. And I got four fucking kids. And,
- 52:42Speaker 5: you know, my daughter was getting ready to go to college.
- 52:44Speaker 5: She wanted to go to HBCU, which is a historic
- 52:47Speaker 5: black college. And, you know, we live in Indiana. My
- 52:50Speaker 5: daughter don't apply to Howard. She don't apply to other majors.
- 52:53Speaker 5: And she got accepted. And so my career is starting
- 52:57Speaker 5: to take off.
- 52:58Speaker 3: So you feel like everything is just like finally in place. Yeah.
- 53:01Speaker 3: And it's like you're living like a normal person.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Yes.
- 53:04Speaker 4: Now your daughter is about to go to college. And
- 53:06Speaker 4: how old was your other child at that point?
- 53:08Speaker 5: My other child, she was 17.
- 53:12Speaker 2: So he was 16. He probably in the 10th grade. Okay.
- 53:15Speaker 3: So like life is finally getting easier. They're self-sufficient.
- 53:18Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 53:18Speaker 3: You're not raising any babies.
- 53:19Speaker 4: Well, no, I got my nieces there with the four kids. No, no,
- 53:21Speaker 4: but I'm saying, like, so that you're like, okay. And
- 53:24Speaker 4: then you hear that, no, keep them.
- 53:27Speaker 3: So then what happened?
- 53:27Speaker 5: And so when I said, well, we can't put them
- 53:30Speaker 5: in the foster home.
- 53:31Speaker 2: We done had this baby for six months. You love
- 53:33Speaker 2: this fucking baby.
- 53:33Speaker 3: Right, of course.
- 53:34Speaker 5: You know, she didn't actually be here. We saw this
- 53:36Speaker 5: baby come off drugs. We saw this baby do, you know.
- 53:38Speaker 4: How old are the nieces' kids that you're fostering?
- 53:41Speaker 5: At the time, it was a six-month-old baby, a two-year-old girl,
- 53:45Speaker 5: and a boy and a girl that was six.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Five or six. So I said, I was a girl
- 53:53Speaker 2: five and a boy six. So I said, you know.
- 53:55Speaker 3: All little, yeah.
- 53:56Speaker 2: All little.
- 53:56Speaker 5: I left them at my house. So I said, you
- 53:58Speaker 5: know what? I'm going to keep them, but I don't
- 54:00Speaker 5: know how. So since I'm a convicted felon, to make
- 54:02Speaker 5: a long story short, the state of Indiana said you
- 54:05Speaker 5: don't qualify for anything.
- 54:06Speaker 3: Because you got caught for selling drugs?
- 54:07Speaker 2: Yeah, because I'm an ex-drug dealer. I'm a convicted felon.
- 54:11Speaker 5: So they said, well, if you took my niece's kid,
- 54:14Speaker 5: they'd have gave you $ 750 or $ 900 per child. Since
- 54:17Speaker 5: it was me and I was a family member, they
- 54:19Speaker 5: only gave me $ 310.
- 54:22Speaker 2: For four kids.
- 54:23Speaker 3: A month.
- 54:24Speaker 2: A month.
- 54:25Speaker 5: No food stamps. No child care.
- 54:29Speaker 2: Nothing. Nothing. I couldn't get anything.
- 54:33Speaker 5: So to get food stamps, I had to put my
- 54:35Speaker 5: whole household on there. Well, my husband worked at General Motors.
- 54:37Speaker 5: I wasn't going to do that. I worked my ass
- 54:40Speaker 5: to get off the system.
- 54:40Speaker 2: I wasn't going back for these kids. So I said,
- 54:42Speaker 2: fuck it. So make a long story short.
- 54:45Speaker 3: Don't make it short. This is so interesting.
- 54:48Speaker 8: Well.
- 54:49Speaker 3: And sad, but inspiring, too. Like, I want to know, like.
- 54:53Speaker 4: I appreciate you telling how you would change your mind
- 54:57Speaker 4: and know that you're doing the right thing.
- 54:59Speaker 3: It's going to reward you.
- 55:00Speaker 5: You have to believe that everything happens for a reason.
- 55:04Speaker 5: Why God took those four kids and placed them in
- 55:06Speaker 5: my life, I realize it now. But at the beginning,
- 55:09Speaker 5: I was pissed off. So I don't have permanent custody.
- 55:12Speaker 5: Nobody's trying to give me permanent custody. So my mind said, well,
- 55:15Speaker 5: go apply for temporary custody, right?
- 55:17Speaker 2: Because she didn't leave. She just left the kids and
- 55:19Speaker 2: they came to the house and said, well, you got
- 55:20Speaker 2: food in the refrigerator.
- 55:21Speaker 5: You can take care of the kids. Well, no, I
- 55:22Speaker 5: can't if I don't have no way of talking and speaking.
- 55:25Speaker 3: For these kids.
- 55:26Speaker 2: So I go.
- 55:27Speaker 5: I literally, I go to the courthouse and get temporary custody.
- 55:30Speaker 5: I go in front of a judge. He hit the
- 55:32Speaker 5: mic and said, I am a fan. Because I did
- 55:34Speaker 5: a popular show, Bob and Tom.
- 55:36Speaker 2: You know Bob and Tom? Yeah, yeah. And he said, well,
- 55:38Speaker 2: do you want permanent custody? And I said, yes.
- 55:41Speaker 5: And that day I got permanent custody. And people was like,
- 55:45Speaker 5: how the fuck did you get permanent custody? I said,
- 55:47Speaker 5: God placed me in front of the right judge who
- 55:50Speaker 5: understood my situation.
- 55:51Speaker 2: Totally.
- 55:52Speaker 5: And who wanted these kids to have a future.
- 55:54Speaker 2: So now the youngest is 10 years old. It won't
- 55:57Speaker 2: shut the hell up, but I love her to death.
- 55:59Speaker 2: And I have two ninth graders and I have a
- 56:01Speaker 2: seventh grader. And they're thriving. They're great.
- 56:04Speaker 3: That is awesome. Now, where is the mother?
- 56:07Speaker 2: Selling pussy in the West End of Atlanta somewhere. I
- 56:10Speaker 2: don't know.
- 56:11Speaker 3: But she doesn't reach out.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Well, not really.
- 56:14Speaker 3: What about in the day of social media?
- 56:17Speaker 2: I don't put them on social media. They don't have
- 56:18Speaker 2: a phone.
- 56:18Speaker 4: I know, but she doesn't try to DM you or
- 56:22Speaker 4: find you.
- 56:23Speaker 5: She's nowhere, man.
- 56:24Speaker 3: She's not trying to.
- 56:26Speaker 5: Well, I'm a no-nonsense person. I don't play no games.
- 56:29Speaker 2: I'm 51 years old, Heather. I don't have time for
- 56:30Speaker 2: this shit.
- 56:31Speaker 5: You're not going to come here with your crackhead stories
- 56:33Speaker 5: and try to play with my emotions.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Leave them alone.
- 56:36Speaker 5: Just leave them alone. You saw what happened when your
- 56:38Speaker 5: mama stepped back in your life. So let's break this
- 56:40Speaker 5: cycle and leave these kids alone.
- 56:42Speaker 2: Let them grow up.
- 56:43Speaker 5: If they decide to come back and let you be
- 56:45Speaker 5: their mama, then you can be their mama. They know
- 56:47Speaker 5: who their mama is. They call me auntie. They only
- 56:50Speaker 5: call me mama when they want something. Or they introduce
- 56:53Speaker 5: me as their parent. So, you know, nobody got to
- 56:55Speaker 5: really know our business.
- 56:58Speaker 2: Right. They know I'm their grandaunt or whatever the hell
- 57:01Speaker 2: I am. I don't know what I am to them.
- 57:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess I'd be a grandaunt. Yeah.
- 57:06Speaker 5: I don't try to, I don't, we don't discuss their mother.
- 57:09Speaker 2: We don't discuss their father.
- 57:11Speaker 5: All I'm here to do is love you and give
- 57:14Speaker 5: you the foundation to start off of, a solid foundation
- 57:18Speaker 5: to start off of, something that I never had.
- 57:21Speaker 3: Now, what happened with Garrett?
- 57:23Speaker 2: I'm still married.
- 57:24Speaker 3: Oh, I thought you said I was married for 31 years.
- 57:27Speaker 2: No, I'm married 31 years. Oh, you're still? Oh, good.
- 57:29Speaker 3: I'm glad.
- 57:30Speaker 4: The whole time I was waiting for the sad part
- 57:32Speaker 4: of when Garrett, after everything he's done.
- 57:35Speaker 2: No, I wouldn't trade him in for the world.
- 57:37Speaker 3: Oh, good, good.
- 57:38Speaker 2: No, I'm still married.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Okay, great.
- 57:41Speaker 4: Okay, so then you start doing standup and I feel like,
- 57:48Speaker 4: how long, I feel like you've been popping for like what,
- 57:50Speaker 4: like 15 years?
- 57:51Speaker 3: That we're like, what was your first series?
- 57:54Speaker 4: I remember reading that you had a series, maybe it
- 57:56Speaker 4: was just a pilot, but I remember reading like what
- 57:58Speaker 4: your pilot was about, about taking in the four kids
- 58:02Speaker 4: and all this stuff. And I was like, wow, this
- 58:04Speaker 4: is really, I'm excited, this is interesting.
- 58:08Speaker 5: Um, yeah, so I did, I did Joe Rogan and
- 58:11Speaker 5: I did Mark Maron and I'm not lying. When I
- 58:14Speaker 5: tell you they released those podcasts within the same week,
- 58:17Speaker 5: Hollywood came knocking and they was like, we want, this
- 58:20Speaker 5: is a TV show. And I met like six or
- 58:22Speaker 5: seven studios.
- 58:24Speaker 3: What year is this now around?
- 58:27Speaker 2: I don't remember. Five years ago.
- 58:28Speaker 3: Only five?
- 58:29Speaker 2: It must have been longer than that.
- 58:30Speaker 5: Nine years ago.
- 58:31Speaker 3: No, I think it's more longer than that. Yeah, I
- 58:33Speaker 3: think it's more like 10 or something.
- 58:35Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like 10 now because it took five years
- 58:37Speaker 5: to get on TV and I'm going into the fourth
- 58:38Speaker 5: season of it.
- 58:39Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 58:40Speaker 5: So, I went through a couple production companies and, you know,
- 58:45Speaker 5: my Fox, I landed at Fox, which was good, everybody thought.
- 58:50Speaker 5: And then, went through two writers, and it was Lee
- 58:53Speaker 5: Daniel and Ron Howard Project. And so, you know, Hollywood,
- 58:56Speaker 5: you don't get three chances to develop no sitcom. They
- 58:59Speaker 5: throw your ass out the door. But for some reason,
- 59:01Speaker 5: I got three chances. And so it had to be good.
- 59:04Speaker 2: I said, hold on.
- 59:05Speaker 5: I got this person for you, but I haven't developed
- 59:07Speaker 5: them right. So all while I go through these two, writers,
- 59:10Speaker 5: it's a young kid named Jordan E. Cooper sitting somewhere
- 59:13Speaker 5: in his last year of high school getting ready to
- 59:15Speaker 5: go to college.
- 59:16Speaker 2: And he's going to his college for final here in
- 59:18Speaker 2: New York.
- 59:19Speaker 5: And he ended up getting on the same agency that
- 59:22Speaker 5: Lee Daniel was with. And when they threw the show
- 59:24Speaker 5: out the second time, Lee asked Fox, give her one
- 59:27Speaker 5: more chance.
- 59:27Speaker 2: We got something here.
- 59:29Speaker 5: Make a long story short, he said, I got this kid.
- 59:32Speaker 2: I'm going to go to the street. I found this kid,
- 59:34Speaker 2: Jordan E. Cooper.
- 59:36Speaker 5: And this kid studied me so hard.
- 59:39Speaker 3: And he's only like a freshman in college?
- 59:43Speaker 2: He's only like 21, 22.
- 59:44Speaker 3: In college or just finished?
- 59:45Speaker 2: No, he was in college his last year. Wow. He
- 59:47Speaker 2: was getting ready to graduate. And he's a writer. Just
- 59:50Speaker 2: drop out.
- 59:51Speaker 5: I said, boy, don't drop out. Finish your college degree.
- 59:53Speaker 5: You don't wait this many years. So in his last
- 59:56Speaker 5: year of college, we were writing. We were trying to
- 59:59Speaker 5: develop the show. We take it over to Fox.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: So he studied. He watched all your stand-up specials.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Everything. But Fox said, this boy never developed nothing. How
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: are we going to let him come in and develop
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: a show? This is Fox. He's 21, 22, no.
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: So as Ron Howard Company and Fox is looking for
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: our third.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Writer, I tell the kid, I say, look, boy, they're
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: never going to hire you. They're lying to you.
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: Let's write a pilot. And if it don't work, I
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: just say I wrote the pilot. So we up for
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: a week straight putting this thing together. He kind of
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: had it in his head. And I just gave him,
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: you know, I gave him the vehicle.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: He already had the drivers.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: He already had the show cast, to be honest with you.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: We get it together. We writing this pilot. We going
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: back and forth. Eight days in, I said, Lee Daniel,
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: I want you to read something. And he's like, what
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: do you want me to read? And he's like, you
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: need to stop trying to write stuff. We already getting
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: you writers. But as I'm talking to these production companies,
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: which is Ron Howard Company, they was like, we got
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: four more writers for you to meet.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: I'm like, write, motherfucker, write.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: Write, hurry up and write.
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: And he's like in college still like going to classes.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: Yes, going to classes. And then writing the sitcom. That's amazing.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: Writing the sitcom.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: That's amazing.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: I handed over to Lee Daniel. He read it. He
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: called me back. He said, who the fuck wrote this?
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: And I said, me. And he said, no, you didn't.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: Everything is spelled right.
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: And so I tell him the kid that he brought
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: to me wrote this. And he couldn't, Foxham couldn't believe it.
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: They was like, okay, he can write the pilot. So
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: we had pretty much wrote the pilot.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: And not only did we write the pilot, we had
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: the whole first season.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Planned out had they picked it up.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: And so you shot it?
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: No, actually.
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: You filmed it, or what happened? Actually, they switched the character.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: They allowed me to be me more. Okay.
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: So with that, my sitcom is the first to do
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: that type of, like, cussing, really pushing the envelope, I believe.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Yeah. So they was like, well, we can't show this
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: on network. And so... The co-creator's like, well, let's take
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: her to a streaming service.
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: Hulu bought it. And Hulu buys it and say, hell no.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: This is too edgy now.
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: Well, I just don't think, I think some people at
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: Hulu wanted it, but their decision making didn't understand what
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: it was like to be a black mom in America.
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: They didn't think people like me existed because they never
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: interact with a Miss Pat before.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: But it's a whole audience out there for that type
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: of mom. You know, blunt, honest. Set your black ass down.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: Don't make me slap your white.
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: You know, I said all.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Kinds of shit on my show.
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: So I just think that they didn't think it was
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: a market or audience for that.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Then they let it loose. They dropped it. I'll never
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: forget how I.
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: Was going on stage, sold out in Raleigh, North Carolina.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: I get a phone call, Lee Day. You could hear
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: the crackling in his voice.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: He said, Hulu didn't pick you up. And I said, okay,
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: that's fine. I said, but I'm sold on it. I
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: got to go out. He said, are you okay? I said,
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: I'm fine.
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: Now, one time in my heart did I not believe
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: that they would pick up that show. Somebody, two months
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: go by, BET Plus would like to do your show.
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: And I said, what the hell is BET Plus?
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: And so my co-creator, he knew everything about TV.
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: You know, if it was a streaming service that was new,
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: he knew about it. And he said, oh, my God,
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: it got less than a million followers. We're going to
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: die over there.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: And I said, one thing I know.
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: About life, from selling crack all the years that I
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: sold it, if your product is good, the people will come,
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: no matter where the fuck you at. Let me tell
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: you something, you got some crackhead that will climb to
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: the moon to get what they want.
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: And I'm just being honest.
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: And so we created this show, went over to BET,
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: they released it, bam, it shut the app down.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Because so many people were subscribing, watching. So many people
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: came over to BET. That is so awesome.
- 1:03:57Speaker 7: Yes.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: And so now that show is a sitcom.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Based off of my life.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: And you filmed that in Atlanta?
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: I filmed that in Atlanta.
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: So that's close.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: So it's like you could just go out of your
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: door and go to the studio. Do you do it
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: in front of a live audience or a single camera?
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: We do it in front of a live audience, which
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: a lot of people got away from. But no, baby,
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: we have a party.
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: When I tell you people are lined up to come
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: see Miss Pat's show taped live, and I think we're
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: the only one that's doing it in Atlanta. So we
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: taped a pilot in L.A. And we just took everything
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: that we learned from L.A.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Over to Atlanta.
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: Which was a little hard in the beginning because they
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: don't shoot live shows. And people are not used to
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: coming to see live sitcoms shot like that. Yeah.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: But it worked.
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: I mean, the third season was popping. We was turning
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: people away.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Amazing. And now you have another show.
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: I'm a judge.
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: And so tell us about that because I love this.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: So it's called Miss Pat Settles It.
- 1:04:55Speaker 7: So.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: After the Miss Pat show was pretty successful, my agents
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: and things, we started to talk with Viacom and BET.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: And I ended up getting the overall deal over there.
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: Because I like being at Viacom because they understand who
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: I am. And they allow me to create in my voice.
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: They don't try to strip me of my voice. So
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: I signed a two-year deal over at Viacom. And my
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: deal was to bring them more shows. So I brought
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: them the court show. And I said, hey, I got
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: an idea, but I think it should be somebody else.
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: And they was like, no, what about you? And I said,
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: what you mean, what about me? I'm a convicted felon.
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: They was like, I said, I can't be a judge.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: I've been to jail.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: They was like, oh, it's TV. You can be Jesus.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: So I taped it, and I was like, oh, I
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: like this.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: So people come in with like a people's court. It's
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: like a people court.
- 1:05:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: And then you kind of feel. So like what are
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: some of the cases?
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: Tell me one case that you got to decide who
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: should get what.
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: Well, this one black lady went to her friend. She
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: wanted a Farrah Fawcett haircut.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: Farrah Fawcett.
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: You know, everybody want to look like Farrah Fawcett. And
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: I don't want to know why these two. Plus-sized women
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: thought they could look like Farrah Fawcett, but she cut
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: the wig up like Joe Dirt.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Oh, she brought the wig to be styled. To be styled.
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: And colored like Farrah Fawcett.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: And when I tell you she chopped that bitch up
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: like it had been through a blender. And what was crazy,
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: because I didn't know it was real cases and real people,
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: so when I said, oh, I'm going to give you $ 5, 000,
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: but I'm going to give you an extra $ 2, 000 because
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: you cried.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: And they was like, you're messing up the budget.
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: I said, what are you talking about?
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: They said, Ms.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: Pat, this is real money.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: I said, this shit real?
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: You didn't even know that until you were actually filming?
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Until I was actually filming, just giving out money.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: Oh my God, that's hilarious. I love that.
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: Okay, so I want to ask you a little bit.
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: Since you're in Atlanta, I am a big Housewife fan.
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: Have you had any dealings with the real Housewives of Atlanta?
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: Do you know any of them? Have you ever, like,
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: popped in for a scene or anything?
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: I just did some promo with Nene.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: I love her.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: Yes, I do, too. And Candace, I see Candace all
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: the time.
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: Candace the best.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: Yes, but who is, I.
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: Don't really, I bump into them at parties and stuff,
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: but I've never really watched the Housewives.
- 1:07:13Speaker 6: Oh, okay.
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: So I'm not a reality type TV person.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: My background is.
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: Well, I mean, those are the two, Candy and NeNe, like,
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: they are, like, well, NeNe, you know, pursued acting and
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: everything before and then since she's acted.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: So she's in the professional realm. And then, of course,
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: Candy is, too.
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: So, like, the other ladies are just, you know, really housewives,
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: you know, that got on the show.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: I mean, so I see everybody, you know, nice or... out,
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: you know, whatever.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: I'm in that little circle now. So if I go
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: to an event, you probably see most of them.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I love it. And now I want to ask you,
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: what do you think? Now, I am going to buy
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: Jada's book today.
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: I'm going to the bookstore because I want to read
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: it myself. And I also want to listen to the
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: audio because I'm hearing all the clips about Jada and Will,
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: and you're probably seeing all the clips too of the
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: things that she has said. And so I just want
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: to get your opinion of them in general.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: What do you think is going.
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: On I don't know what's going on. I tell people
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: all the time, mind your damn business. If you mind
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: your damn business, I got other stuff going on.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: My husband got diabetes.
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: He passed gas that night. He snored really loud. I
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: don't give a damn about no Jada and Will. I'm
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: hoping she's doing all of this to make this book
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: a bestseller.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: No, I think she is.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: I'm buying the book, too.
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: Let me tell you something. I'm buying the book, and
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: I don't even read no damn book. I'm definitely reading
- 1:08:41Speaker 5: the book.
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: No, I mean, it's just she's dropping a lot of
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: things that seem a little controversial.
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: Nobody cares about.
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: She was up here talking about what you call an alopecia.
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: The man been dead for over 20 years.
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: Tupac. She said Tupac had alopecia too.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: He ain't got a head no more.
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: You know what she also said? I forgot to say
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: this because I talked about this on the show. Do
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: you know that like Willow, the daughter of she and Will,
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: wrote some letter to Tupac and say, please come back
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: down from heaven so my mommy can be happy. And
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: Will was aware of it.
- 1:09:15Speaker 8: Well.
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: That is like, I just feel bad for Will.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: So Heather.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: And then other people say I shouldn't feel bad for Will.
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: Well, Heather, it's obvious you never had any good black
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: dick before.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: You are 100% correct.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: When you get good black dick. I haven't had any.
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: Well, when you get some good black dick, you will
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: be writing Jesus, too, to bring them good black dicks back, okay?
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: So obvious Willow knew what Tupac had put on her
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: mama and she wanted to see her mama grin. And
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: I tell people all the time, there's a difference between
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: thug dick and educated dick. They don't run in the
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: same circle.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: What's the difference of the circles?
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: One arm pound you, one arm hunt you.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: Wait, one will what?
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: One pound you.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: Oh, one pound.
- 1:10:04Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: And the other one goes gentle and slow.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: Wait, so which one is which?
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: The ghetto dick.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: The ghetto is the pounder or the ghetto is the.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: The ghetto is the pounder.
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: That's good sex. When a guy got a tattoo.
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: They can't read, they thugged out, and they can fuck.
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: What about women who fall in love with the guy
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: behind the bars? I'm fascinated by that. That's who they're
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: seeking out.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: They visit them. They didn't know them even before they
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: got in.
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: What?
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: What do you think of women like that? Women that do,
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: they like having a boyfriend who's in prison. They feel
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: they're going to save him.
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: They go visit him.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: I think them bitches are crazy.
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: I mean, but you got to say, you little thugs
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: done got some good sex, Heather.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: They do. But I don't know.
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: It's according to how long he been in jail for me. Because,
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: you know, you don't want somebody to come down and
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: just want to switch it back out because they on
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: the other side. You know, some people like men that
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: go both ways. I like my man that go one way. So.
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: Oh, you mean some that are bisexual?
- 1:11:14Speaker 7: Yes, bisexual. Yes.
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: I always remember that one of my favorite Oprahs was
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: the Down Low episode.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: Do you remember that one? No. You don't remember the episode?
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: I live in Atlanta.
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: This was like so eye-opening. So Oprah had on all
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: these black guys who then were like were on the
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: Down Low. That was the first time I ever heard
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: the Down Low.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: Heather.
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: Yes, on Oprah. But this is like 20 years ago.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: This is a long time ago. The height of Oprah.
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: And they were like, look, we have wives, girlfriends, but
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: we just like having sex with men. But we don't
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: want to be in a parade. We don't want to
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: live a gay lifestyle. We're just on the down low.
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: And I just– and I'm hearing these women's stories about
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: how they never knew and then they came home one
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: day and what they're seeing. And I'm like– and I
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: guess it was because for this age of men, which
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: now these guys would be, you know, 50, 60 years old,
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: it was just so unaccepted to be gay.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: To be gay.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: No, only to– see– It was only to be unaccepted
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: to be gay to people who wasn't gay. If people
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: were minding their fucking business, we would have never been unaccepted.
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: I never gave a fuck about nobody being gay. I
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: gave a fuck about my own vagina. I can only
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: keep up with my vagina. I can barely keep up
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: with it. When the hell get the groin to look
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: like the Gap Band down there? So I can't be
- 1:12:38Speaker 5: worried about nobody else. That's the problem with society. We
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: too busy worrying about anybody else. All you got to
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: do is be happy.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: If you're happy, you can't notice what other people is doing.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: You're only noticing shit because you're miserable.
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: Yes, exactly.
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: And the stuff that you're noticing is somebody else's happiness.
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: That's why you got an opinion. And that's what's wrong
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: with the world. Jada and Will have been switching out
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: each other for years. Why is everybody shocked?
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Well, she said they're not.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: She said all those rumors about them being swingers and
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: gay and open marriage, whatever, was not true until seven
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: years ago when they said they were separated.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: Then she got with her son's friend. And I can
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: understand why.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Did you not see his penis? August? It was huge.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: How did you see August's penis?
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: And some draws on Instagram, right?
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: Is there a photo of him like walking across the
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: street and you see it?
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: No, it ain't that kind of dick, Heather.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: Oh. What the fuck do you think?
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: Black men got cow dicks? No.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: There's times when you get a guy, whether it's Jon Hamm,
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: who's white, or anybody of any ethnicity, and they're wearing
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: a certain kind of pant, and you can really see
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: it through the clothes. Did you see it naked or
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: through the clothes?
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: I think I saw it through the clothes.
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: Okay, and it looked big.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and it wasn't even hard.
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: I mean, but you a middle-aged woman, right?
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: Come on, Will Smith is 52, 55 maybe. He ain't
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: doing what Olga Agostina doing, whatever his name. He ain't
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: doing what he doing, okay?
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: So let's just keep it real. I can understand why
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: she jumped on that bike. It had both wheels. A
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: 55-year-old man got a flat somewhere.
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: I love your analogies and expressions. That is really what
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: makes your comedy, I think, so funny and unique.
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: I mean, you're married. Sometimes to keep the spice, you
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: got to reminisce. Ooh, Lord, I remember when 1992. Then
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: you start imagining that person.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: And all of a sudden, you hollering. He's like, why
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: are you hollering? You're like, you're looking like, oh, it's you.
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: That never happened to you? Don't say it.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: I've been married 23 years.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: Yes. Okay.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I've been married 23 years.
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: But, you know, listen, I'm watching The Golden Bachelor.
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: I don't want to be on it. So now I'm like,
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: I'm happy.
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: I'm happy.
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: You know, but there's times when your friends are getting
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: divorced and they're getting some. fresh dick, and you're hearing
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: the stories at the dinner, and then you come home
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: to the man in the lazy chair or whatever, and
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: you're like. But in the end, you know, as long
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: as you have a good man, it's so important. But
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: that's just all the truth of it, you know?
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: I truly understand why middle-aged women are outdating older men.
- 1:15:26Speaker 8: I mean, younger.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: Younger, yeah. I can't do it.
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: Because they lazy. I have a 37-year-old son. I could
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: never see me dating a 37-year-old. That's just not my thing. Plus,
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: they got too much energy for me. I just want
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: to lay down and.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Look at TikTok. I don't want you rubbing on me.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: You know, you got to fix yourself up for them.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: You got to put on a good bra.
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: It's hard to tell a 37-year-old why your titties are uneven.
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: So I'm going to keep what I got because I
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: don't have to explain stuff. My husband know how to
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: untouch my navel, I mean my nipple from my navel.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: A 37-year-old wouldn't know. Why is that connected, boy?
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: Pull it apart, okay?
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: So I'm going to keep what I got.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: Too much instruction.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: Too much instruction.
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: We're done.
- 1:16:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. So funny.
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: Thank you so much for coming on. Now, you have
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: a big tour with lots of dates.

- 1:17:39Speaker 7: Where?
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: Dunaidial. There's an accent on the E.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: Do you mean.
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: Yes, I got it on Dundale Cars.
- 1:17:46Speaker 7: Lift?
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: Please.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: You going past Kimmage? Oh, Kimmage.
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: No.
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: Dundale Cars. You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
