- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hawkgirl Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kayleie, and this is
- 0:19Speaker 1: your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
- 0:21Speaker 1: a new mindset, and another day if you'd become the
- 0:23Speaker 1: hawk Girl energy you want to attract. Hello you guys,
- 0:27Speaker 1: welcome back to another episode. I have a bit of
- 0:29Speaker 1: a different episode for today. Typically I don't usually have
- 0:35Speaker 1: Zuck up on the podcast, but Zach and I are
- 0:38Speaker 1: celebrating our first wedding anniversary this week, and I thought
- 0:41Speaker 1: it would be a fun episode to just kind of
- 0:43Speaker 1: talk about some questions that you guys have asked on
- 0:48Speaker 1: my Instagram story for things just in terms of like
- 0:51Speaker 1: some wedding regrets that we may have had, things about
- 0:54Speaker 1: just the wedding in general, along with a couple q
- 0:57Speaker 1: and as, so we have a lot of questions year
- 1:00Speaker 1: that I thought we could just kind of go through
- 1:02Speaker 1: and just answer anything you guys have submitted in. But
- 1:06Speaker 1: we were just talking about Zach being on the podcast,
- 1:09Speaker 1: and I just don't remember the last time he was
- 1:12Speaker 1: on an episode.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I think it's been close to a year. I think
- 1:14Speaker 2: it was around the wedding last year.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're right. I think the last time
- 1:18Speaker 1: we recorded an episode together was the recap of the
- 1:21Speaker 1: wedding of just like everything that happened after the honeymoon.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Did I even do that? I don't even remember if
- 1:27Speaker 2: I did that or not.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah, either that or talking. I don't think we talked before.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I think you're too stressed to talk before. I think
- 1:33Speaker 1: it was an after thing.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you're right.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like we didn't have time to record
- 1:37Speaker 1: an episode before the wedding. I know. Actually that's a lie,
- 1:40Speaker 1: That is a lie. Remember we did a wedding everything
- 1:45Speaker 1: about the wedding, and I posted it on the wedding week.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I did it two parts.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah, that we recorded beforehand.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Yes, so never mind, we did do that. So on shocks,
- 1:53Speaker 1: we actually did that. I think we must have done
- 1:55Speaker 1: that a week in advanced or something like that.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And there was no way we did while we were
- 1:59Speaker 2: in Italy.
- 1:59Speaker 1: No, oh no, no, no. I wouldn't have brought my
- 2:01Speaker 1: MIC with me, that's for sure. I never bring my
- 2:03Speaker 1: MIC with me when I travel, just because I find
- 2:05Speaker 1: it always somehow gets damaged. When the last time I
- 2:07Speaker 1: brought it, Oh, I left it plugged in in the
- 2:12Speaker 1: sense of what you left.
- 2:13Speaker 2: The bottom plugged in and that's why it broke.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Oh, I see, Okay, Well, anyways, this is why I
- 2:17Speaker 1: don't travel with a mic. We're gonna just jump right
- 2:20Speaker 1: into the questions because we have a lot of questions here,
- 2:22Speaker 1: and I know we're gonna probably explain in depth of
- 2:25Speaker 1: like each question that comes in, we'll probably just yap away.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Well I'm the yapper, I'm the yappers. So anyways, we're
- 2:34Speaker 1: gonna get down to the questions here.
- 2:36Speaker 2: It's insane how many questions or followers have.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I know, submitted. I know, it's it's insane. The community
- 2:44Speaker 1: is so supportive, Like like I had to do a
- 2:47Speaker 1: screen recording on the story and I'm just like scrolling
- 2:50Speaker 1: through all the questions. We're gonna try and answer as
- 2:53Speaker 1: many as we can because like there is a lot here,
- 2:55Speaker 1: but there is some that might be repetitive as well,
- 2:57Speaker 1: so we're gonna try our best just to yeah, try
- 3:00Speaker 1: and be yeah on top of this. All right, we
- 3:03Speaker 1: had a few questions about how we found certain things
- 3:06Speaker 1: for our wedding. So if you're new here, Zach and
- 3:09Speaker 1: I got married in Italy this time last year. We're
- 3:12Speaker 1: from Canada, so it was a destination wedding. We did
- 3:15Speaker 1: hire a wedding planner that was based in Italy that
- 3:17Speaker 1: basically organized everything for us, which I highly recommend doing
- 3:21Speaker 1: if you do plan to do a destination wedding, because
- 3:24Speaker 1: it's very difficult to find vendors and all that, especially
- 3:28Speaker 1: in a destination that you're not familiar with or be
- 3:31Speaker 1: in anywhere close proximity to time zone everything, or you
- 3:35Speaker 1: don't speak the language or you don't speak the language. Yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 1: Like having the planner I think helped us with a
- 3:40Speaker 1: lot of like just like getting the best possible rates
- 3:44Speaker 1: for like the florals and like just renting like chairs.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Welle, the incredible contacts. They knew which companies you go for,
- 3:52Speaker 2: which came to stay away from, who provided service in
- 3:55Speaker 2: that area, who didn't. It was they were very knowledgeable
- 3:59Speaker 2: but the area.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah, so it kind of builds off one question, which
- 4:02Speaker 1: was logistics of planning. She's a girl that's considering to
- 4:06Speaker 1: do an Italy venue but just doesn't know how to
- 4:09Speaker 1: go about it. So I think, honestly the best thing
- 4:11Speaker 1: to do is to do some research on honestly Instagram
- 4:14Speaker 1: and TikTok and just seeing what other people have used
- 4:17Speaker 1: for planners. We used Rosini Weddings. You can actually find
- 4:20Speaker 1: a lot of the vendors that we worked with on
- 4:22Speaker 1: our wedding picture, which is actually pinned on my Instagram
- 4:25Speaker 1: and you'll see, like the photographer, we use the venue
- 4:28Speaker 1: that we got married at, along with planners and all that.
- 4:32Speaker 1: But that's kind of how I found Rosini was I
- 4:34Speaker 1: kind of was just like creeping through Instagram and I
- 4:36Speaker 1: came across their Instagram account and I reached out to
- 4:39Speaker 1: them and yeah, we just kind of like set up
- 4:42Speaker 1: a meeting and it turned out really good.
- 4:44Speaker 2: But there we had several meetings.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Yes, oh I met with multiple No, I didn't just
- 4:48Speaker 1: meet with that.
- 4:48Speaker 2: No, don't like, So, don't be don't jump to the
- 4:51Speaker 2: first planner because the first Italy planning you find. Don't
- 4:55Speaker 2: be afraid to interview multiple planners because you have to
- 4:59Speaker 2: ca with them, yes, and you have to feel like
- 5:02Speaker 2: they're going to execute what you.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Want one hundred percent. That's a good point. We definitely
- 5:05Speaker 1: met with a lot of other planners before we went
- 5:08Speaker 1: with Rosini. A lot of the planners that we met
- 5:10Speaker 1: with were either a one person team or you know,
- 5:13Speaker 1: two people in a team. But Rosini had about like
- 5:16Speaker 1: four to five people on their planning team, and we
- 5:19Speaker 1: just kind of felt more secure with that knowing that
- 5:22Speaker 1: there was multiple people that would be taking on different
- 5:25Speaker 1: responsibilities for the planning of the wedding days. So highly
- 5:28Speaker 1: recommend doing your research and don't just stick to one,
- 5:31Speaker 1: you know, talk to multiple and then you can kind
- 5:33Speaker 1: of get a feel of their vibe and what kind
- 5:35Speaker 1: of suits your preference and like what you think, I
- 5:38Speaker 1: don't know, just kind of suits you the best. Someone
- 5:41Speaker 1: asks how I found my hair and makeup? Again, literally
- 5:44Speaker 1: through Instagram, just scrolling through you know, other photographers that
- 5:48Speaker 1: were based in Italy or you know planners. A lot
- 5:51Speaker 1: of them actually have the vendors tagged in it, and
- 5:54Speaker 1: they had a few hair and makeup options based in
- 5:58Speaker 1: on Mafi Coast and that's kind of the one that
- 6:00Speaker 1: we decided to go with. And I did a hair
- 6:02Speaker 1: and makeup trial when I went to go visit the
- 6:03Speaker 1: venue back in May, which was a few months before
- 6:06Speaker 1: the wedding. Did you tour your wedding venue before you
- 6:10Speaker 1: booked it? So no, no, Well we did go look
- 6:14Speaker 1: at wedding venues, which was helpful.
- 6:17Speaker 2: We looked at like fifteen. We looked at a lot.
- 6:19Speaker 1: So we did technically go down and book the trip
- 6:22Speaker 1: and go see the wedding venues, which I highly recommend
- 6:24Speaker 1: doing because I think it helped us like narrow it
- 6:28Speaker 1: down to what we wanted, because I think we would
- 6:30Speaker 1: have just booked some of the ones that we went
- 6:31Speaker 1: to and then we saw it in person and we're like, oh,
- 6:34Speaker 1: I'm happy we didn't book this.
- 6:35Speaker 2: And there was stuff that the venues didn't disclose.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yes, which huge. That's a huge thing when you're booking
- 6:41Speaker 1: your venue. There's going to be so many things that
- 6:43Speaker 1: you don't even think about, like noise with regulations. I
- 6:46Speaker 1: guess they stop music at a certain point outside how
- 6:50Speaker 1: many people you can actually fit in the space. Like
- 6:52Speaker 1: there were some venues that were actually like smaller, like
- 6:55Speaker 1: they couldn't accommodate that many people, and just like random
- 6:58Speaker 1: things that you don't really think about.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Like there was one it was said we could
- 7:03Speaker 2: have one hundred people at the wedding, which is crazy
- 7:05Speaker 2: to go over there one hundred people, but I said,
- 7:07Speaker 2: you could have one hundred people at the wedding, but
- 7:09Speaker 2: for the ceremony it was only twenty. And it was
- 7:11Speaker 2: like well, that's kind of a weird thing. It was
- 7:14Speaker 2: just because the lawn real they wanted the ceremony to
- 7:17Speaker 2: be held can only fit so many people.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So yeah, I just know that there's a lot of
- 7:20Speaker 1: things to look out for and make sure to communicate
- 7:23Speaker 1: all the points that you can with your wedding planner
- 7:26Speaker 1: along with the venue and just make sure that it
- 7:28Speaker 1: aligns with you. Because there was a lot of Lake
- 7:30Speaker 1: Como for an example.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Yeah, when you're at La Como U the smaller towns
- 7:35Speaker 2: around the lake, they had more regulations at place because
- 7:39Speaker 2: it's not such a touristy spot as it is the
- 7:41Speaker 2: locals that live there. So I didn't want huge noise,
- 7:45Speaker 2: like they didn't want really a loud noise late at night.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Everything had to be more tamed and indoors. Yeah, it
- 7:51Speaker 2: was very interesting.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I think there was only two or three wedding venues
- 7:54Speaker 1: in Lake Como that we went to that actually had
- 7:56Speaker 1: like the noise maps at like eleven pm or midnight,
- 7:59Speaker 1: like all the more eight pm or nine pm, which
- 8:01Speaker 1: is crazy to me that you have to keep it quiet.
- 8:04Speaker 1: By that point said, some of these.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Rules were new, but I'm not really too sure.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Anyways, the point is, just make sure to ask all
- 8:10Speaker 1: the questions, because it's important when you're putting your money
- 8:13Speaker 1: down on a wedding venue that it meets all your requirements.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Someone said, I'm having my wedding in October in Italy.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Anything last minute advice or tips that you recommend. I think,
- 8:25Speaker 1: pack as far in advance as you can. I personally
- 8:28Speaker 1: feel like for us, we packed really far in advance
- 8:31Speaker 1: in terms of just like little the things that we needed,
- 8:35Speaker 1: like our robes that we got customized that we brought down.
- 8:39Speaker 1: You know, all the brides made outfits, All the brides
- 8:42Speaker 1: made like little details that I did, like their imass
- 8:44Speaker 1: and all that. Like, there's so much that we had
- 8:48Speaker 1: to pack to bring down, So I'm really happy that
- 8:50Speaker 1: I really organized everything, including my honeymoon outfits. Everything, Like,
- 8:54Speaker 1: think about how much we packed.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Do not be afraid to bring or buy your bag?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Yes, oh my gosh, yes we brought.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Did we bring an extra suitcase?
- 9:05Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, yeah we did.
- 9:07Speaker 2: We brought extra suitcase with stuff just for the wedding
- 9:11Speaker 2: week for rehearsal, dinner, the events before the wedding close
- 9:15Speaker 2: for that outfits, and then we brought that all in
- 9:21Speaker 2: a smaller bag, and then when we were over there
- 9:24Speaker 2: after the wedding, we transferred all my stuff out of
- 9:28Speaker 2: the larger bag into the smaller bag because I still
- 9:30Speaker 2: had a suit and other stuff in that big bag,
- 9:33Speaker 2: And we actually ended up taking a bunch of the signage.
- 9:38Speaker 2: What else do we take?
- 9:38Speaker 1: We took a bunch of stuff from the menus on
- 9:41Speaker 1: the plates, our vow books.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of stuff. There's a lot of
- 9:46Speaker 2: stuff that we took back from the wedding, and we
- 9:48Speaker 2: set that bag back with my parents.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Including zach suit and my wedding dress. That way, we
- 9:53Speaker 1: didn't have it for the honeymoon. So honestly, pay to
- 9:57Speaker 1: have the extra bag if you're over there, or buy
- 9:59Speaker 1: one when down there.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent. I do think that's yeah,
- 10:04Speaker 1: really needed, especially since you are doing your wedding in Italy. Yes,
- 10:09Speaker 1: this I felt like was such a like it made
- 10:11Speaker 1: me feel less stressed knowing that we had the air
- 10:13Speaker 1: tag in it, and it just like we were able
- 10:15Speaker 1: to track it wherever it was. Keeping constant communication with
- 10:18Speaker 1: your planner I think was good. Like we had text chats,
- 10:21Speaker 1: we were able to constantly text them. They were kind
- 10:23Speaker 1: of good at like reminding us what we had to
- 10:25Speaker 1: bring or what they had or what we're still waiting for.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So I feel like that was super helpful instead of
- 10:30Speaker 1: communicating through email, was just being able to text each
- 10:33Speaker 1: other just about you know, last minute things. So if
- 10:36Speaker 1: you don't have a text setup with your planners, you
- 10:39Speaker 1: can use an app called WhatsApp, so you don't have
- 10:41Speaker 1: to worry about you know, destination texting or anything.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Oh, do not your if your wedding is October, you're
- 10:49Speaker 2: probably okay to still try and get some stuff wrapped up.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Don't wait until a week before to finalize your signage.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Your men used your Yeah, we did have that issue. Well,
- 11:00Speaker 1: we didn't wait a week before. The issue was is
- 11:02Speaker 1: that it got shipped to the wrong.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Or no, it got shipped to the planners. It got
- 11:07Speaker 2: shipped to the plan they got held.
- 11:09Speaker 1: X yes, and then FedEx decided to keep it and
- 11:11Speaker 1: not like attempt to deliver it again. So then the
- 11:14Speaker 1: planners had to well we had to pay for a
- 11:18Speaker 1: new train for them to come basically and they had
- 11:21Speaker 1: to go pick it up.
- 11:22Speaker 2: If you're getting anything shipped to your venue, your planner
- 11:26Speaker 2: get it done well before two days before or.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Pay for express, like do something, because yeah, we were
- 11:33Speaker 1: pretty stressed. I don't know what happened there though it
- 11:35Speaker 1: is still to this date.
- 11:36Speaker 2: We ordered late, I think really for in advance.
- 11:40Speaker 1: The girl was in England and I guess there was
- 11:44Speaker 1: just an issue. I don't really remember. I didn't order
- 11:46Speaker 1: it that list, I can remember.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I just remember being on the phone driving to Rebella.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Oh, it was so stressful. That was probably the most
- 11:53Speaker 1: stressful thing we had throughout the wedding. Everything else was fine.
- 11:56Speaker 1: That was the only thing. It somehow made it. So
- 11:59Speaker 1: that's all I care about because it did actually make
- 12:01Speaker 1: a huge difference in the visual aspect. So I'm really
- 12:03Speaker 1: happy that it ended up all coming in. But I
- 12:06Speaker 1: think that's probably the best advice. I mean, October, Yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 1: October is going to be the perfect month because it's
- 12:13Speaker 1: not going to be too hot. We unfortunately had a
- 12:16Speaker 1: very hot wedding day. I was sweating my freaking ass off,
- 12:20Speaker 1: like literally. Oh anyways, I don't regret it at all.
- 12:23Speaker 1: In terms of like wearing my hair down. I'm really
- 12:25Speaker 1: happy that I did that because I personally feel the
- 12:28Speaker 1: most confident with my hair down, especially for pictures and such,
- 12:32Speaker 1: so I felt like if I put my hair up
- 12:33Speaker 1: in a slick back, butun I think I would have
- 12:35Speaker 1: regretted it just because it's not my favorite hairstyle on myself.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I love a high ponytail, but you can't rock a
- 12:41Speaker 1: pony with the veil, Like, it just wasn't happening. So
- 12:44Speaker 1: I'm happy that I went with that decision because I'm
- 12:46Speaker 1: really happy with how the photos turned out, especially with
- 12:48Speaker 1: my dress. But pack an Amazon fan, Like, if you
- 12:53Speaker 1: are doing a wedding in the summer, either in Italy
- 12:56Speaker 1: or wherever, or somewhere that's going to be really hot,
- 12:59Speaker 1: you can literally get those cheap mini fans from Amazon.
- 13:02Speaker 1: And my two mative honors had a fan on me.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I think you had a fan on me at one point,
- 13:07Speaker 1: Like we were constantly just fanning me, just because I
- 13:10Speaker 1: had obviously a really heavy dress on. But yeah, those
- 13:13Speaker 1: are some tips that we would recommend for your wedding.
- 13:18Speaker 1: What was the most memorable thing of the entire experience?
- 13:22Speaker 1: What would you say your favorite part was. I guess
- 13:24Speaker 1: maybe from the start of the wedding planning to the
- 13:26Speaker 1: actual wedding day.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Is it bad? My favorite? Is it actually the wedding
- 13:30Speaker 2: day oh what is it ABNB.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Oh okay, well that's TECTI for the wedding, but.
- 13:36Speaker 2: It was something we planned afterwards, like com clearly afterwards
- 13:38Speaker 2: on our own.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. So we did a whole wedding event
- 13:43Speaker 1: where it was multiple days instead of just like the
- 13:45Speaker 1: wedding day. We did a welcome party, a rehearsal dinner,
- 13:49Speaker 1: and then the wedding day. So Zach's referring to the
- 13:52Speaker 1: welcome party. We got this beautiful airbnb in Ravello that
- 13:56Speaker 1: literally overlooked the mountains. It was the most insane ARABNBA
- 14:00Speaker 1: I think I've ever heard.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Yeah, a big rooftop patio, big courtyard patio.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Yeah, slept I think twenty three.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Twenty maybe, Yeah, it was big except a lot of people. Yeah,
- 14:09Speaker 2: so wedding parties and friends.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And then like everyone else in the wedding, they had
- 14:15Speaker 1: to find their own accommodation. Yeah, which was fine because
- 14:19Speaker 1: Revella was a really small town, which is why we
- 14:21Speaker 1: kind of went that direction. I know some of you
- 14:22Speaker 1: guys actually asked how we dealt with accommodations and such,
- 14:26Speaker 1: and we ended up booking the airbnb for the bridesmaids
- 14:29Speaker 1: and the parents. But everyone else. We got them to
- 14:32Speaker 1: find their own accommodation. So yeah, because it was a
- 14:35Speaker 1: small town, it was very easy for people to find
- 14:37Speaker 1: things in like walking distance, no issues in terms of
- 14:40Speaker 1: getting to the wedding venue and anything, which we obviously
- 14:44Speaker 1: were really grateful for. I think we probably gave some
- 14:46Speaker 1: guidance in terms of like, hey, try and book near
- 14:49Speaker 1: this vicinity. That way, people knew that they weren't like
- 14:51Speaker 1: having to take a taxi over to Ravello just because
- 14:55Speaker 1: Ravelo is a really small town up in the mountains.
- 14:57Speaker 1: But anyways, this airbnb insane and we actually decided pretty
- 15:02Speaker 1: last minute to hire a DJ for this airbnb terrorist,
- 15:07Speaker 1: which then we started to get stressed because we found
- 15:09Speaker 1: out that the town I guess had strict music policies
- 15:12Speaker 1: for like where we were.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of we read something about oh, no noise
- 15:16Speaker 2: up to this time, blah blah blah. And this was
- 15:18Speaker 2: while after we booked.
- 15:18Speaker 1: The djone someone was like, oh, the neighbors are pretty strict.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Yeah, the hosts of the neighbors are pretty strict. And
- 15:26Speaker 2: then DJ showed up and he happened to be from
- 15:28Speaker 2: the town, so we were like, hey, well, thankfully your
- 15:32Speaker 2: mom also speaks Italian, so it's super easy. Your mom
- 15:35Speaker 2: went over, explained the situation. The neighbor walked over and goes,
- 15:38Speaker 2: I know everybody, I know everybody Rebella, We're fine, don't
- 15:40Speaker 2: worry about it. And he just played all night.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Yeah, so my mom's for the Italian, So for her,
- 15:45Speaker 1: she was able to kind of like communicate and just
- 15:48Speaker 1: make sure that you know, we weren't disrespecting anyone in
- 15:50Speaker 1: terms of like the music being too loud or anything.
- 15:53Speaker 1: The DJ was better than our wedding dj. Like, he
- 15:57Speaker 1: was incredible. We were so shocked how good he was.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Like, I don't know, I think we just requests.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I think we just literally asked our planner, It's like, oh,
- 16:06Speaker 1: what do you recommend for a DJ? And Ravello and
- 16:08Speaker 1: they recommended this guy and he was so fun. He
- 16:10Speaker 1: played all the music that we would love. Yeah, he
- 16:13Speaker 1: was really good. I don't know. I think that was
- 16:14Speaker 1: just like the best way to kick off the start
- 16:16Speaker 1: to the wedding weekend for sure. I think for me,
- 16:20Speaker 1: obviously the wedding day I think was my favorite. But
- 16:22Speaker 1: I loved doing our first look and our vows. That
- 16:25Speaker 1: truly was the most memorable part for me. That I
- 16:28Speaker 1: think being with everybody that was probably the best part,
- 16:31Speaker 1: Like being with all the guests and the bridesmaids and
- 16:33Speaker 1: all that. I would say that night was the best
- 16:34Speaker 1: by far. I agree with that, But I think like between,
- 16:37Speaker 1: like the moment between you and I think that was
- 16:39Speaker 1: like my favorite part of the entire experience, was just
- 16:42Speaker 1: being able to have that moment of seeing you in
- 16:44Speaker 1: your suit for the first time and you seeing me
- 16:45Speaker 1: in my dress and having just like pouring out our
- 16:49Speaker 1: feelings and I don't know, obviously we have a lot
- 16:54Speaker 1: of history, so being able to have that moment of
- 16:56Speaker 1: just like spilling everything was just truly the most amazing
- 17:00Speaker 1: moment and that was probably my fart of my favorite moment.
- 17:03Speaker 1: How did you handle the stress of spending money? I
- 17:07Speaker 1: think what's important is to save before you decided to
- 17:11Speaker 1: start planning wedding, because I don't think I would have
- 17:15Speaker 1: executed the wedding had I not had any Like if
- 17:18Speaker 1: I had no savings in my account, I definitely wouldn't
- 17:20Speaker 1: have done the wedding, you know what I mean, Like
- 17:22Speaker 1: you need to create the start of something for the wedding.
- 17:26Speaker 1: That way you can go into it feeling a little
- 17:27Speaker 1: bit stressed. I mean, obviously, regardless, it's stressful, like you're
- 17:31Speaker 1: spending a lot of money. It is what it is.
- 17:32Speaker 1: But I think if, like you know that you saved
- 17:34Speaker 1: all this money for this moment, that it feels a
- 17:37Speaker 1: little less stressful knowing that.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Leng Yeah, but it didn't matter how much money we
- 17:41Speaker 2: had saved, it just kept getting more and more.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yeah for you, Yeah, because you see the money coming
- 17:47Speaker 1: out of the account and you're like, oh god, that's
- 17:48Speaker 1: a lot.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Well, and our budget might have changed a couple of times.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yeah, the budget did change a few times. To be
- 17:54Speaker 1: fully transparent, we're not going to disclose what we spent
- 17:56Speaker 1: just because I think that's a very personal question. I
- 17:58Speaker 1: know some of you guys actually asked that. I think
- 18:01Speaker 1: if you are currently planning a wedding, I'm sure you
- 18:04Speaker 1: get an understanding of what venues typically cost along with
- 18:08Speaker 1: some blates, and it's just it's not cheap. It's it's
- 18:11Speaker 1: very very expensive. And as Zach said, of course our
- 18:14Speaker 1: budget changed a few times, but I still think we've
- 18:17Speaker 1: still kept it in a pretty appropriate amount from what
- 18:20Speaker 1: it's actually gonna be. Like, it was not appropriate. He's
- 18:22Speaker 1: not happy with it, but do you regret anything exactly?
- 18:26Speaker 1: I don't exactly, So you say that, but yeah, no,
- 18:31Speaker 1: it definitely was. Yeah, I don't regret anything.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Don't go. Don't go above your means. Yeah, don't go.
- 18:38Speaker 2: It's like buying a house. You don't want to end
- 18:39Speaker 2: up house poor. You don't end up mortgage poor. You
- 18:42Speaker 2: don't want to end up wedding for you don't want
- 18:44Speaker 2: to save all this money for you know, for us
- 18:48Speaker 2: it was three days plus a plus a three week
- 18:51Speaker 2: trip after all this stuff, right, but you don't want
- 18:53Speaker 2: to spend money on realistic one day. Yeah, and it
- 18:58Speaker 2: affect the next three years of your life because you
- 19:00Speaker 2: went above and beyond what you could afford.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yeah. So, actually there was one thing that we had
- 19:05Speaker 1: to cut out of our wedding budget that I really wanted,
- 19:09Speaker 1: but financially it just didn't make sense to do so.
- 19:12Speaker 1: But essentially, Zach and I did this white runway on
- 19:15Speaker 1: the grass that you know, what would you call it
- 19:19Speaker 1: the wedding aisle there with the floral arrangements and all that,
- 19:22Speaker 1: And our wedding venue was on grass. So in order
- 19:27Speaker 1: to have that like flat white surface for the wedding aisle,
- 19:31Speaker 1: we were gonna have to pay. I think it was
- 19:33Speaker 1: like twenty thousand dollars euro? Was it euro?
- 19:36Speaker 2: It was a euro?
- 19:37Speaker 1: Okay, it was twenty thousand euro, which.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Is what's wild for a platform.
- 19:42Speaker 1: For a platform, because they would have had to customize
- 19:45Speaker 1: it and they would have had to bring it up
- 19:47Speaker 1: in Revello with with trucks and everything. That just would
- 19:50Speaker 1: have cost so much money. So I'm like, there's no
- 19:53Speaker 1: freaking way I'm paying that kind of money for a
- 19:55Speaker 1: wedding aisle essentially, So then we decided to just do
- 19:58Speaker 1: the white rug, and I think it it still turned
- 20:00Speaker 1: out great in the photos. I just I think in
- 20:02Speaker 1: terms of a regret, I didn't like how like it
- 20:05Speaker 1: kind of looked a little like wonky when people stepped
- 20:08Speaker 1: a little bit, you know what I mean. That was
- 20:09Speaker 1: the only thing that I didn't love about that. But
- 20:12Speaker 1: I don't regret doing it because I personally didn't love
- 20:15Speaker 1: the grass because I remember when we saw the grass,
- 20:17Speaker 1: the grass was also kind of semi dead, so it
- 20:19Speaker 1: kind of would have looked like you know what I mean, yeah,
- 20:23Speaker 1: the other day once they have. So anyways, I'm still
- 20:27Speaker 1: happy we did the white runner. I just think like, obviously,
- 20:30Speaker 1: if I had the budget to pay that much. I
- 20:32Speaker 1: would have, but I didn't, so I don't regret it.
- 20:36Speaker 1: If you guys hear Freddy breathing or licking or whatever,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I'm sorry. We're trying so hard to record this episode
- 20:43Speaker 1: right now, and I'm sure if you're a dog owner
- 20:45Speaker 1: you probably get it. Yeah, that's definitely people can hear
- 20:48Speaker 1: him doing that. I love this question. How did you
- 20:53Speaker 1: stay present during the big day? I think one thing
- 20:55Speaker 1: that Zach and I talked about the entire like, well
- 20:59Speaker 1: not the the first few days leading up to the wedding.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I think the first thing that we said to each
- 21:03Speaker 1: other was let's try and make this day about us,
- 21:07Speaker 1: not about our guests. Like we kept telling each other that,
- 21:09Speaker 1: like we really wanted to be like obviously present in
- 21:11Speaker 1: the moment, but like remember what we kept saying, We're like,
- 21:14Speaker 1: of course, like our guests were a huge priority. But
- 21:16Speaker 1: I think because we had the two events leading up
- 21:19Speaker 1: to the wedding, and.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Because it was a smaller wedding people it's easier to
- 21:23Speaker 2: talk to everybody before the wedding. Yes, with the two events,
- 21:26Speaker 2: but it was people who are directly people who we
- 21:31Speaker 2: see all the time, immediate family, there was no, oh,
- 21:36Speaker 2: you're my mom's third cousin, twice removed like yeah, this
- 21:40Speaker 2: is what I'm doing for work now, and then not
- 21:42Speaker 2: knowing who you are on your wedding day.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Everyone that was invited to our wedding was people that
- 21:46Speaker 1: we would talk to within like a few weeks, a
- 21:48Speaker 1: few months. Like it was people that we had you know,
- 21:50Speaker 1: continuous communication with. But having the two events, like with
- 21:54Speaker 1: the welcome dinner and the rehearsal dinner, like we were
- 21:56Speaker 1: spending time with everybody. I wouldn't really say we were
- 21:58Speaker 1: like spending too much time you I like we were trying,
- 22:01Speaker 1: but the wedding day specifically, because we dedicated the two
- 22:04Speaker 1: other days of trying to like you know, socialized everybody connect.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I feel like the wedding day we were fully just
- 22:11Speaker 1: like make sure this is about us. And so I
- 22:14Speaker 1: think we kind of like made that clear to people
- 22:17Speaker 1: too that we wanted to be you know, we want
- 22:20Speaker 1: to be alone. But like that we were very much
- 22:22Speaker 1: like there for each other in a sense, you know
- 22:25Speaker 1: what I mean. Were you both involved in the decision
- 22:27Speaker 1: making or was it mainly you? We were very both involved.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I would say I definitely didn't make the decisions without
- 22:33Speaker 1: Zach's approval. I think I kind of just said, hey,
- 22:36Speaker 1: this is what I'm thinking. Are you okay with that?
- 22:38Speaker 1: Are you not okay with that?
- 22:40Speaker 2: I think this is how we do everything though, because
- 22:43Speaker 2: you have a vision and then I'm the realistic one
- 22:45Speaker 2: and I got to kind of crush your vision sometimes
- 22:47Speaker 2: and bring it backyard.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Yeah. I guess a situation that's very relevant right now
- 22:51Speaker 1: is our backyard. I have a vision. Zach was basically
- 22:54Speaker 1: able to execute it in the sense of, like you know,
- 22:56Speaker 1: kind of building it, bringing it to life. So when
- 22:59Speaker 1: you think about the wedding, I have a vision, but
- 23:01Speaker 1: Zach kind of talks about the logistics and the money
- 23:04Speaker 1: and the costs associated to doing those things, and he's like, okay, realistically,
- 23:08Speaker 1: like we could do this floral arrangement, but I don't
- 23:11Speaker 1: think we should be doing this floral arrangement that you
- 23:13Speaker 1: really want. Like, let's think of you know what I mean,
- 23:15Speaker 1: the legit.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Yeah, because you would say all these are the flowers
- 23:18Speaker 2: I want completely, and then you would you would isolate, right.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I think it's important that both parties involved in, you know,
- 23:25Speaker 2: making decisions on the wedding, because it's not just I
- 23:30Speaker 2: guess it's it's your wedding day, but we're both involved.
- 23:32Speaker 2: It's money that we are both spending on this. Yeah,
- 23:35Speaker 2: and you know the floral arrangement. Like you, you you
- 23:38Speaker 2: get your mind fixed on which is great. You have
- 23:41Speaker 2: a specific detail for one thing, but you're like, okay,
- 23:44Speaker 2: here's option one through five for the flowers. I like
- 23:47Speaker 2: option to the best. This is the best one. This
- 23:50Speaker 2: one looks most beautiful. And then you flip your mind
- 23:53Speaker 2: over to the next day. You get something for the
- 23:55Speaker 2: drapery and you're like, okay, well I like drapery option
- 23:58Speaker 2: number one, and it's also the most expensive. And then
- 24:00Speaker 2: you look at the table setting like this. He goes, okay, well,
- 24:03Speaker 2: we can't keep picking the most expensive thing. Yes, obviously
- 24:06Speaker 2: we're going with the most expensive thing, but now we
- 24:08Speaker 2: need to pick. Would you rather the flowers be a wow,
- 24:11Speaker 2: the drapery to be okay, that's nice, and the table
- 24:14Speaker 2: setting and the average or do you want all three
- 24:17Speaker 2: of them to be like wow, that's nice? Or do
- 24:19Speaker 2: you want to blow your budget and go way over
- 24:22Speaker 2: and then be wedding poor and have everything back? Oh
- 24:24Speaker 2: my god, yeah, I think yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 1: To build off Sack's point, I think no matter what,
- 24:29Speaker 1: it's a team effort, and I think I had the vision.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Zach had the brains behind how can we execute the
- 24:35Speaker 1: vision but within the budget? Right, So he was kind
- 24:37Speaker 1: of like the finance guy along with Okay, let's rank
- 24:40Speaker 1: this stuff that we're getting right, like as you said, like, okay,
- 24:43Speaker 1: is the floral arrangement the most important? Is the drapery
- 24:46Speaker 1: the most important? And then we kind of allocated, Okay, well,
- 24:49Speaker 1: let's put more money towards the flowers and less money
- 24:51Speaker 1: towards the drapes.
- 24:52Speaker 2: It's good to work as a team, one person of
- 24:55Speaker 2: the vision, one person know how to execute that vision
- 24:58Speaker 2: or try to get the best vision for the best price,
- 25:00Speaker 2: and try and negotiate things and go back to the
- 25:04Speaker 2: a new Kala specific vision. So it was very important
- 25:06Speaker 2: for me to hammer home to the planners that hey, look,
- 25:09Speaker 2: this is what we want, but this is our price.
- 25:11Speaker 2: This is where we have to get everything under here,
- 25:14Speaker 2: and it's very important to work with your planners at
- 25:16Speaker 2: the same time.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and then the planners will most likely like offer
- 25:20Speaker 1: two different options or three different options, and then you
- 25:22Speaker 1: and I kind of like work with It.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Would be also very easy for a planner to take
- 25:25Speaker 2: advantage of one person if it was just one person
- 25:27Speaker 2: making a decision.
- 25:28Speaker 1: But we were making all the spreadsheets like you were
- 25:30Speaker 1: doing out all that. So that was really helpful because
- 25:32Speaker 1: I do not like doing that kind of stuff, So
- 25:34Speaker 1: that was really helpful. What was something that you did
- 25:37Speaker 1: to help ease any stress? Anything? Very simple? Okay, here's
- 25:41Speaker 1: one example. I had one thing that I thought I
- 25:45Speaker 1: was going to be stressed about. But I don't know
- 25:47Speaker 1: if this is a good thing or not. But in
- 25:49Speaker 1: order for me to like eliminate that stress, I personally
- 25:52Speaker 1: just like didn't even think about it. So the weather
- 25:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I literally didn't look at the weather appitt all.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I made it. I literally made it a priority to
- 26:02Speaker 1: not look at the weather app because I knew it
- 26:04Speaker 1: was going to stress me out, and I wanted with
- 26:06Speaker 1: the intention of that whether it rains or it's the
- 26:08Speaker 1: most you know, beautiful day ever, it's going to be
- 26:11Speaker 1: the best day ever, regardless. So I kind of like
- 26:13Speaker 1: went with that mindset that it didn't you know, it
- 26:17Speaker 1: didn't matter at the end of the day. I personally
- 26:18Speaker 1: felt like if I was constantly checking the weather app,
- 26:20Speaker 1: that was going to create more stress for me, and
- 26:23Speaker 1: I just didn't want to have to think about that
- 26:25Speaker 1: one component that was going to bother me, you know
- 26:27Speaker 1: what I mean. So I kind of avoided it. And
- 26:29Speaker 1: I don't know if that's something like to recommend or all,
- 26:33Speaker 1: but like it. It did end up being a beautiful day,
- 26:35Speaker 1: and I think I had three people come up to
- 26:36Speaker 1: me saying that it technically was supposed to rain that
- 26:39Speaker 1: day and it didn't, so.
- 26:40Speaker 2: I kind of forgot about that. Yeah, yeah, stressed without
- 26:42Speaker 2: the weather. I really I was thinking more about like
- 26:45Speaker 2: the day of stuff and leading up, like, right, you
- 26:47Speaker 2: didn't you didn't know about the signage all that stuff
- 26:50Speaker 2: not being in the mail until it got down to
- 26:54Speaker 2: the tenth hour. I'm like, Hi, by the way, I'm
- 26:55Speaker 2: paying for a train ticket for them to go this stuff.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Yeah, because so AKA the husband kind of deal with there.
- 27:01Speaker 2: And then I'm thankful. I had some really good groomsmen
- 27:05Speaker 2: and my best man. They were great. The bridesmaids as well,
- 27:10Speaker 2: but like the groomsmen and best man, they were very
- 27:13Speaker 2: much like anything you need delegate to us, and I
- 27:16Speaker 2: think it's I.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Think at one point the planners like we also, like
- 27:19Speaker 1: the my maid of honors stepped up in terms of
- 27:21Speaker 1: like they said to the planners, like if there's anything
- 27:23Speaker 1: that seems stressful, tell us, not the bride, like are
- 27:26Speaker 1: my maid of honors? Kind of stepped up in that
- 27:28Speaker 1: sense where you know, they would go handle a situation
- 27:31Speaker 1: without me even knowing. If I'm getting my makeup done
- 27:33Speaker 1: and something was happening, you know with the way things
- 27:37Speaker 1: were going on the venue, they would get out of
- 27:39Speaker 1: the room and they would deal with it that way.
- 27:40Speaker 1: I didn't have to think twice about it, right.
- 27:42Speaker 2: So I think delegation, Yeah, delegation was huge, and I
- 27:45Speaker 2: think it pays off the way it's some really good
- 27:47Speaker 2: people on our wedding party who knew enough to you know,
- 27:50Speaker 2: come to me and say what can I do? Even
- 27:52Speaker 2: the bridesmaids were comany, hey what can I do? Take
- 27:54Speaker 2: you off Kayley's place? What can I do to help
- 27:55Speaker 2: ease her stress? And it made a very yeah that
- 27:59Speaker 2: our wedding party really wanted to help out.
- 28:01Speaker 1: It wasn't even like us asking like some of them
- 28:04Speaker 1: like as you said, like they would straight up just
- 28:06Speaker 1: ask us saying like hey, what can I do? Like
- 28:08Speaker 1: I want to do something. I don't want to just
- 28:09Speaker 1: sit here like I want to be able to help
- 28:10Speaker 1: any way that I can, which was, yeah, made it
- 28:13Speaker 1: less stressful, obviously knowing that they were willing to do that. Okay,
- 28:16Speaker 1: this next question was, I'm a month post wedding. Any
- 28:19Speaker 1: tips for not falling into the post wedding depression?
- 28:23Speaker 2: That's a questioned because I feel like you fell right in.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I fell right into it. I'm not gonna lie. I
- 28:29Speaker 1: was so sad after the honeymoon for like a month.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I think the best thing that kept me, you know,
- 28:37Speaker 1: I guess happy moving on to the next like trying
- 28:40Speaker 1: to think of like the next thing, right, and not
- 28:42Speaker 1: feeling that depression. Of course, I definitely was really sad
- 28:46Speaker 1: for a month, as I said, was really emotional, just
- 28:48Speaker 1: because it literally was the best month of my entire life.
- 28:51Speaker 2: That and because you put so much effort into much.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Effort, so much energy for yeah, as you said, like
- 28:57Speaker 1: for fourteen months, like it literally that's all I would
- 28:59Speaker 1: think about, right, And then right after the wedding Day's
- 29:01Speaker 1: over and the honeymoon's over, It's like, now, what, like
- 29:04Speaker 1: all my energy has just disappeared, right in terms of
- 29:07Speaker 1: like what I'm putting the effort towards. I personally think
- 29:10Speaker 1: just kind of honestly keeping yourself busy, like doing things
- 29:15Speaker 1: like just to kind of get your mind off of
- 29:17Speaker 1: it a little bit, and then over time, I do
- 29:18Speaker 1: think it just kind of eventually goes away. Like of
- 29:21Speaker 1: course I look back at our photos and I'm like, oh,
- 29:23Speaker 1: that was the best day ever. But I don't think
- 29:25Speaker 1: of like, oh my god, like I have nothing to
- 29:28Speaker 1: do now, like I have nothing to prepare for. I
- 29:30Speaker 1: think it's more so like think about the next exciting
- 29:33Speaker 1: part of your life, Like there's so many other things
- 29:35Speaker 1: to look forward to, like starting a family with your husband,
- 29:38Speaker 1: or buying another house, or you know, there's always another
- 29:42Speaker 1: step that's going to be happening. Maybe it's getting a
- 29:44Speaker 1: new job or a new career, like promotion at work
- 29:47Speaker 1: at work, or you know, for me, I was really
- 29:48Speaker 1: excited about coming back and like, you know, really putting
- 29:51Speaker 1: my energy towards work again and like getting back into
- 29:54Speaker 1: the podcast, and you know, looking at starting my brand.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Like there were so many other things that I could
- 29:59Speaker 1: put my mind and energy towards, which kind of helped.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So having that distraction of knowing that there's more things
- 30:06Speaker 1: to come that are going to be really exciting in
- 30:09Speaker 1: the next chapter and in your life, I think made
- 30:11Speaker 1: it easier to kind of get through it. And obviously
- 30:14Speaker 1: now we're a year out and I don't have the
- 30:16Speaker 1: depression anymore. But I think, honestly, everybody goes through wedding blues,
- 30:20Speaker 1: and some people it might take them a week or two,
- 30:22Speaker 1: some people might deal with it for a month, like
- 30:24Speaker 1: it really just depends on the person. But I truly
- 30:26Speaker 1: do think that everybody goes through a little bit of
- 30:28Speaker 1: a depression, especially when you plan it for so long.
- 30:31Speaker 1: One thing that I feel like I always did was
- 30:34Speaker 1: I always tried to make our relationship a priority, but
- 30:37Speaker 1: also like being able to still have fun with my
- 30:39Speaker 1: friends and have the college experience along with, you know,
- 30:43Speaker 1: obviously furthering my career of you know, going through schooling
- 30:49Speaker 1: and being able to get a job after college and
- 30:51Speaker 1: all that. But I did get a scholarship in high
- 30:54Speaker 1: school to go play in West Virginia Tech. So it
- 30:58Speaker 1: is a call in West Virginia, and I decided to
- 31:03Speaker 1: turn it down because there was multiple factors. I personally
- 31:07Speaker 1: didn't want to play soccer at that high of a
- 31:10Speaker 1: level anymore. I kind of wanted to die down my
- 31:12Speaker 1: sports once I got to college, I had friends that
- 31:15Speaker 1: were also staying in Ottawa. Like one of my best friends,
- 31:18Speaker 1: she was going to Ottawa you and I don't know.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I kind of was like, you know, I would rather say,
- 31:23Speaker 1: like where my friends are, which a lot of them
- 31:25Speaker 1: were staying in Ottawa. Another one of my good friends
- 31:27Speaker 1: went to Carlton University and then I knew Zach was
- 31:31Speaker 1: also staying. So I don't know. I kind of like
- 31:33Speaker 1: made my decision on that. And I will be fully transparent.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I am a homebody, Like I didn't ever want to
- 31:40Speaker 1: like move to another city and I still don't to
- 31:42Speaker 1: this day. Like I really do love being near my
- 31:45Speaker 1: family and friends. So I feel like that kind of
- 31:47Speaker 1: helped our relationship a lot is knowing that neither of
- 31:49Speaker 1: us were moving away. But as I said, like we
- 31:52Speaker 1: both are very driven individuals, so it was nice because like,
- 31:56Speaker 1: of course, like we made our relationship our priority, but
- 31:59Speaker 1: we both like respected that we wanted to focus on
- 32:02Speaker 1: our careers and our school. And I don't know, I
- 32:05Speaker 1: just feel like nothing really, I would say, obviously things change,
- 32:09Speaker 1: but in a good way.
- 32:11Speaker 2: I agree. I think get the nail on the head.
- 32:13Speaker 2: There was a little bit of a not even a
- 32:15Speaker 2: growing curve. But it was just you know me and
- 32:19Speaker 2: you met new friends through college. I met new friends
- 32:21Speaker 2: through work. It was just a different adaptation to our
- 32:25Speaker 2: lives and it was more about us being open with
- 32:28Speaker 2: what you know, new people, your experiences, that kind of stuff.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I felt like I was hanging a lot with like
- 32:34Speaker 1: your new friends. You were hanging a lot with my
- 32:36Speaker 1: new friends. I think we both were always like willing
- 32:38Speaker 1: to try different things for each other, which again is
- 32:42Speaker 1: very important. You need to be able to allow each
- 32:45Speaker 1: other to like adapt into your lifestyle or into your
- 32:49Speaker 1: lives with you know, the people you care about, the
- 32:51Speaker 1: people that you want to introduce each other to. All that.
- 32:54Speaker 1: So I think that answers the question in terms of
- 32:58Speaker 1: like that. So yeah, another couple question is how did
- 33:02Speaker 1: you know your partner was the one? I go back
- 33:04Speaker 1: and forth all the time with my BF of three years.
- 33:07Speaker 2: I knew answer. We're just staring at you.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Was gonna say, I I'll go first.
- 33:14Speaker 2: You always go first, Okay, so then you yeah, because
- 33:16Speaker 2: I'm worried I'm not gonna match your better than mine? Sorry,
- 33:21Speaker 2: what is it? How did you know they were the one?
- 33:23Speaker 1: How did you know I was the one that.
- 33:27Speaker 2: How did I know you were the one? Kelly? You
- 33:30Speaker 2: just one day I just looked at you from across
- 33:32Speaker 2: the kitchen and it just hit me and I just
- 33:35Speaker 2: I just knew it was gonna be you. No our
- 33:38Speaker 2: our you know. Open communication was very important for us
- 33:42Speaker 2: about wants and you know, goals in our life and
- 33:49Speaker 2: making sure your what you what you want the lines
- 33:51Speaker 2: of your partner. Kelly and I were both we've touched
- 33:54Speaker 2: on it. Both very work driven. You know, we both
- 33:59Speaker 2: wanted big things far as for our careers and for ourselves,
- 34:02Speaker 2: and it aligned with each other. You know. We wanted
- 34:03Speaker 2: to you know, same sized family, We wanted to live
- 34:05Speaker 2: in the same area, didn't want to move by the city. Yeah,
- 34:10Speaker 2: it just seemed like everything just lined up for us.
- 34:12Speaker 2: And you know, I got along well with I get
- 34:15Speaker 2: along well with her family, She gets along well with
- 34:17Speaker 2: my family. All these things just kind of worked and it,
- 34:22Speaker 2: I don't know, it was accumulation of a lot of things,
- 34:24Speaker 2: and then you know, just spending time with you, it
- 34:26Speaker 2: felt felt natural, It felt right. It felt like, Okay,
- 34:30Speaker 2: this is you know, this is what I want for
- 34:32Speaker 2: the rest of my life. That's kind of how I
- 34:34Speaker 2: was able to figure it out.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I was. My answer would be very similar to that.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I really like how we were very open and honest
- 34:41Speaker 1: since the beginning of our relationship of what we wanted
- 34:43Speaker 1: for our future, Like we both agreed that you know, oh,
- 34:46Speaker 1: we both want two kids. You know, as you said,
- 34:49Speaker 1: we both see each other like growing up here in Ottawa.
- 34:51Speaker 1: I think it's important to communicate at an early stage
- 34:55Speaker 1: in your relationship what your goals and aspirations are in life,
- 34:58Speaker 1: because I think if they don't line, that makes it
- 35:01Speaker 1: really difficult to be with someone that just doesn't have
- 35:04Speaker 1: the same future as you. And I think obviously that
- 35:07Speaker 1: motivates you guys to continue the relationship. But I think
- 35:11Speaker 1: for Zach, for me personally, I don't know, there's something
- 35:14Speaker 1: about his personality that just like really clicks well with me.
- 35:18Speaker 1: I think he's like my perfect He's my perfect partner
- 35:22Speaker 1: in crime. For sure. Zach is always there for me
- 35:26Speaker 1: in the sense where I just feel like he's always
- 35:27Speaker 1: been like the best supportive partner and I just don't
- 35:31Speaker 1: think anyone would would be able to tolerate me. No,
- 35:36Speaker 1: I just think like we just had the perfect pair.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I really don't know how to explain it, Like I
- 35:41Speaker 1: don't know what I would do without him. I truly don't.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Like he literally just always corrects me in the best way,
- 35:47Speaker 1: or you know, whenever I'm trying to build up a point,
- 35:49Speaker 1: like he's he knows exactly what I'm trying to say,
- 35:51Speaker 1: so he's able to build me off. Like You're just
- 35:53Speaker 1: always like that person that I just know you're gonna
- 35:55Speaker 1: be able to like be there for me and anything,
- 35:58Speaker 1: like literally in anything, like not even like when I communicate,
- 36:01Speaker 1: but just like sure, but even just like when we're
- 36:05Speaker 1: playing sports, like you're always there to kind of just
- 36:08Speaker 1: like okay, yeah, like do this, tweak this, You'll be good.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Like you're always trying to make me a better person,
- 36:12Speaker 1: I guess in a way. And I think that's like
- 36:14Speaker 1: really good to have that in a partner, because if
- 36:16Speaker 1: they're trying to make you better, I think that's so special.
- 36:23Speaker 1: I think they would based some of your answer. So
- 36:27Speaker 1: that concludes our episode for today. We kind of just
- 36:30Speaker 1: threw in a lot more wedding questions than a couple questions,
- 36:32Speaker 1: just because I feel like a lot of the questions
- 36:34Speaker 1: were more so wedding related, which I hope that kind
- 36:37Speaker 1: of got the point across for people who might be
- 36:39Speaker 1: planning a wedding, or are thinking about planning a wedding
- 36:42Speaker 1: in Italy, or just who had questions about wedding planning
- 36:46Speaker 1: in general. But I still can't believe.
- 36:49Speaker 2: We're celebrating crazy.
- 36:51Speaker 1: That's literally crazy. What are we doing for our one year?
- 36:54Speaker 1: We can tell them that act like, what are we
- 36:58Speaker 1: doing for our one year? We're going over dinner. I
- 37:04Speaker 1: haven't booked the restaurant.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Yet, but I'm going to wet. It's Wednesday, and we
- 37:09Speaker 2: don't have a reservation for Friday.
- 37:11Speaker 1: It's actually Tuesday, first off, but podcast comes out Wednesday. Yeah,
- 37:16Speaker 1: that's true, but I'll book it tomorrow when night, when.
- 37:19Speaker 2: The when the podcast is out, we should have a
- 37:22Speaker 2: dinner reservation.
- 37:23Speaker 1: But it's also Ottawa's. You don't need to have a
- 37:26Speaker 1: reservation bunked two.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Weeks the day before.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so I actually have a few places that I
- 37:32Speaker 1: wanted to show you before, Ben, because we're gonna fall
- 37:34Speaker 1: asleep here Zach's yawning. So but anyways, Yeah, we definitely
- 37:38Speaker 1: need to book a restaurant, and then what's the big
- 37:40Speaker 1: thing we're doing.
- 37:40Speaker 2: I can't believe you didn't think about that we are
- 37:43Speaker 2: watching our wedding video.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Finally, Yes, and we are we watching it.
- 37:47Speaker 2: We're gonna watch it in our brand new backyard with
- 37:51Speaker 2: the projector.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Yes, Zach set up a projector outside in our backyard
- 37:57Speaker 1: on the fence. We have like this big actor screen
- 38:01Speaker 1: and it's foldable so you can, you know, put it
- 38:03Speaker 1: in a storage you know, or in the house. Sorry.
- 38:06Speaker 1: And then we got a smart projector where it actually
- 38:09Speaker 1: projects Netflix YouTube, I.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Thing, yeah, Prime Video, Yeah, I can. You can download
- 38:14Speaker 2: other apps so we can watch actual TV out there. Yeah.
- 38:16Speaker 1: It connects to Wi Fi and anyways. I'll link everything
- 38:19Speaker 1: if people are interested in it. But we're gonna watch
- 38:21Speaker 1: our wedding video one night as well this weekend, which
- 38:24Speaker 1: I think is gonna be so special because we have
- 38:26Speaker 1: not seen it. Everyone wants me to film the reaction
- 38:28Speaker 1: of us seeing it for the Yeah, we're gonna ballze.
- 38:32Speaker 1: We're literally both just gonna sit there and ball perfect.
- 38:34Speaker 1: It's gonna be awesome. It's not gonna be awesome. I
- 38:37Speaker 1: hate crying, but it will be. It'll be nice. So
- 38:39Speaker 1: that's kind of how we're spending our weekend, super low key.
- 38:42Speaker 1: But a few days after that we'll be heading somewhere.
- 38:47Speaker 1: We booked something. We're getting on a plane in how
- 38:51Speaker 1: many days, like eighteen days we're gonna be on a plane. Yeah,
- 38:56Speaker 1: eighteen days. We're gonna be somewhere. So stay tuned on
- 38:59Speaker 1: our instagram if you want to see us travel again
- 39:03Speaker 1: to a very special place that we will not say.
- 39:05Speaker 1: But anyways, I love you guys. Also much, thank you

- 39:32Speaker 1: celebrating anniversary and yeah, excited to celebrate another hopefully sixty
- 39:39Speaker 1: years with you.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Sixty years is that enough? Yeah?
- 39:42Speaker 1: Eighty years.
- 39:43Speaker 2: It will be eight nine, Yeah, it will.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Be eighty nine, so maybe more. But I pray that
- 39:48Speaker 1: we have a long, healthy marriage. So I love you,
