- 0:34Our guests share their journeys and inspire us all.
- 0:36I started this podcast to honor my father, Patrick Cain, who often said, Why Not Today.
- 0:41And remember, you're just one decision away from changing your life.
- 0:45And I am excited to find out more about my guests.
- 0:49I don't know really well.
- 0:50We did a call the other day, but I felt like after our call, the introduction call, I feel
- 0:54like I've been in you forever.
- 0:55And we were connected with lots of different people on Facebook and things.
- 1:01But I officially met Elaine, or saw you speak at Tina Johnson's Women's Summit about a month
- 1:08ago.
- 1:09And then, as I said, we did a call and you're just, we've got lots of great connections.
- 1:15And I felt like you were my long-last friend when we talked the other day.
- 1:18And so I'm excited to hear your story and share with our guests.
- 1:23You've definitely got a health journey and lots of courage.
- 1:26So before we officially get started with that, why don't you introduce yourself, Elaine,
- 1:30and a fun fact about you.
- 1:32Okay.
- 1:33Well, hi, Leslie.
- 1:34Thank you so much.
- 1:35I felt the same way.
- 1:36And what was so such fun is that our connections were like, they were all in left field.
- 1:41And it was great.
- 1:44And I love this whole thing and your connection with your dad.
- 1:47And I have that special thing with mine, which is why I have 14 butterfly bushes around my
- 1:52house because every time I see a butterfly, it's my father and my mother.
- 1:56I've always thought that too, just another connection.
- 1:59I'm not surprised.
- 2:01And a good friend of mine passed away last year, unfortunately, in the day of his funeral
- 2:06where he was sitting outside his mom's house and a butterfly flew on his cousin's hand
- 2:11and just sat there.
- 2:12And then it flew on my hand and I took a picture of it, literally sat on my hand for a half
- 2:16an hour until I shoot it away.
- 2:19Yes.
- 2:20Absolutely.
- 2:21Yeah.
- 2:22I see them in these strangest places.
- 2:24Yeah.
- 2:25Go, hi, dad.
- 2:26Hi, mom.
- 2:27Thanks for coming.
- 2:28I love that.
- 2:29Another connection.
- 2:30Another connection.
- 2:31Introduce yourself in a little bit about who Elaine is.
- 2:33Okay.
- 2:34Well, I am Elaine Gibson and I am the ultimate Jewish grandmother from New York City.
- 2:40Born in Chicago, raised in New York.
- 2:44So I was the child my mother was told she could never have.
- 2:48Oh, wow.
- 2:49In those days, I mean, just in full disclosure on Mother's Day weekend, actually 80 years
- 2:57old.
- 2:58And in those days, so my mom had romantic fever.
- 3:01And in those days, they were, which was like a gazillion years ago, they were very concerned
- 3:06about the heart and all this and that.
- 3:08So she was told she couldn't have any more children.
- 3:11So my dad, who was in the retail business because during the Depression, he took his
- 3:17father out of a ditch who was trying to get money to send him to medical school.
- 3:22Oh, wow.
- 3:23Yeah, it was all.
- 3:24So he was transferred to Chicago from New York.
- 3:30My mom goes in for her checkup and they say the doctor says, well, Jeanette, how am I
- 3:35going to be doing more children?
- 3:37And she said, well, I was told I couldn't.
- 3:39And he said, that's ridiculous.
- 3:40You're healthy.
- 3:41Your heart is healthy as an ox.
- 3:43Go home and make a little girl.
- 3:45Aw.
- 3:46So 11 months later on Mother's Day, I was born.
- 3:51Oh, how special.
- 3:52No fun.
- 3:53Yes.
- 3:54That's not the fun fact.
- 3:55That's just part of what.
- 3:59Part of who I am, right?
- 4:00For whatever that means.
- 4:02So here's the fun fact.
- 4:04I act.
- 4:05So when I grew up in New York, I was certain I was fortunate of less than that my parents
- 4:09could take me to Broadway in a very early age.
- 4:12I actually saw Sammy Davis Jr. on Broadway.
- 4:15I saw Mary Barrett and play Peter Pan originate the role.
- 4:19So I just fell in love with it.
- 4:23And I, so my fun fact is that with all the science and all those other things I have with
- 4:28what I do, I actually have a graduate degree in dance.
- 4:31Wow.
- 4:32Yes.
- 4:33And I see the world through music.
- 4:35Yes.
- 4:36And everything I do is filled with music and musical references and all that.
- 4:42So that's my fun fact.
- 4:44I actually have a graduate degree in dance and my most fun role was in a dinner theater
- 4:52in Gypsy playing one of the strippers who lit up in the dark.
- 4:57Yeah.
- 4:58Have fun.
- 4:59But I'm a city girl and I went to summer camp from the age of eight.
- 5:06We did that in New York.
- 5:08If we were fortunate enough.
- 5:09I went away for eight weeks and now my children have gone and my grandchildren, everybody's
- 5:16on the same thing.
- 5:17I'm all about legacy and all of that.
- 5:20Awesome.
- 5:21But this is where I fell in love with my girlfriends.
- 5:27It was a brother and sister camp.
- 5:31And this is where I was happiest my whole life.
- 5:35And this is why everything that I do now is for and with women.
- 5:41So yeah, I had a great childhood, very, very, very, very much love, but very, very different
- 5:48times.
- 5:49So I never was encouraged to be my best.
- 5:53Right.
- 5:54Because women weren't doing this.
- 5:56Right.
- 5:57Gloria Stein and we're talking about, right?
- 5:59Yeah.
- 6:00So I grew up in New York and went to summer camp and then met my first husband, my children's
- 6:05father.
- 6:06And then we came to Washington, DC during the Ed Muskie campaign and now I'm remarried
- 6:12and live in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.
- 6:15We married for almost 34 years now.
- 6:19I have six grandchildren and they still call me Gaga.
- 6:24Even my six to grant six foot two grandson, who's 26 still calls me Gaga.
- 6:32You know, that connection of a grandparents is amazing.
- 6:36I know one time my nephew, I said something not really nice to my mother.
- 6:40I don't remember what it was, but she annoyed me and my nephew looked at me and goes, don't
- 6:44talk to my grandma like that.
- 6:46And I'm like, you're on team grandma.
- 6:47He's like, that is the only team to be on.
- 6:49The only team.
- 6:50Yeah.
- 6:51That's so powerful.
- 6:53So yeah, I love the summer camp.
- 6:55I didn't get to go to summer camp.
- 6:57I was the oldest of six kids and we from the age of 10, we lived on a lake and grew up
- 7:03in Reston.
- 7:04There were pools everywhere.
- 7:05Oh, sure.
- 7:06Right.
- 7:07So like there was no summer camp.
- 7:08We were summer camp.
- 7:10You were.
- 7:11Yeah.
- 7:12And but you did all the fun things.
- 7:14And growing up in New York, I mean, I never saw trees and stuff, you know.
- 7:18So now, now I'm the, the now, you know, I, I work.
- 7:23Yeah.
- 7:24I'm in the Shenandoah Valley, I feel like I'm at summer camp.
- 7:27Love it.
- 7:28Oh, they long.
- 7:29So Elaine, what does courage mean?
- 7:34Courage to me means trusting your soul.
- 7:45We are so bombarded with other things.
- 7:49You know, we all have monkey mind.
- 7:51We all are mind always tells us stories and creates so much doubt, but we know inside what's
- 7:58right.
- 7:59We know inside who we are.
- 8:02And as you know, I, I now I work with women that have cancer, having beaten stage four
- 8:08cancer without traditional protocols.
- 8:10This is what I do.
- 8:13But it's trusting how we're created because we know we really know inside us who we are
- 8:21and what we want to do.
- 8:23And trusting that is the seed of courage.
- 8:26Yeah.
- 8:27And I kind of call those sometimes my why not today moments with people.
- 8:31It's like, you know, the thing and you wake up in the middle of the night or it's just
- 8:35been ruminating your head and you finally say, yes, you trust your soul because there
- 8:39is so much noise out there and so much comparison, so much judgment, so much doubt.
- 8:46And you know, as women too, we do have that doubt that we just came naturally and we've
- 8:52had to fight to be more confident, but to be able to trust ourselves and not look left
- 8:58to right or back or forward just to go for it and trust that soul.
- 9:02So I love that definition.
- 9:03Oh, good.
- 9:04I'm good.
- 9:05Yeah.
- 9:06So everybody's got a different one.
- 9:07It's interesting.
- 9:08The only person that's ever looked it up is my brother.
- 9:10All right.
- 9:12So you've had a journey and lots of courage.
- 9:15And I always say where we start and where we finish are completely different.
- 9:19So as a dancer to now working in the health field, you've come a long way.
- 9:25So can you share maybe some why not today moments, part of your current journey that
- 9:31would encourage somebody else and share your story?
- 9:34Sure.
- 9:36So in 2001, I was diagnosed with a very early stage cancer, non-Hatch-Kunstl-Sama.
- 9:43I went out of the country, they didn't do the things I wanted at that point.
- 9:47I just knew that at that moment, why not today trusting that I just wasn't ready to follow
- 9:56traditional.
- 9:58I had been in, I spent a lot of, you know, growing up when I grew up, the only thing that
- 10:07I really was led to, and this is not judgment.
- 10:11This is to have a teacher certificate in my back pocket.
- 10:15Okay.
- 10:16You know, and I did.
- 10:17Were you a teacher?
- 10:18I was.
- 10:19Okay.
- 10:20I was actually in New Haven, Connecticut during the riots in the 60s, and they built
- 10:26a brand new high school in the middle of the city, and they bust in all the suburban
- 10:33kids.
- 10:34Wow.
- 10:35Right?
- 10:36Yeah.
- 10:37And you started with a degree in dance.
- 10:40I had started with a degree in education in CIS ed.
- 10:43I grew up on third base.
- 10:44I was in CIS ed.
- 10:45It was a great way to get to kids.
- 10:50But using that, so we did West Side Story, and we had a Black Maria, and a White Tony,
- 10:56and things like that.
- 10:59But I just never really had anything that I was passionate about.
- 11:06That was in a line, in a lane, in a journey to be successful in this culture.
- 11:12Right.
- 11:13Yeah.
- 11:14You know, we both know Tina very well.
- 11:16She's been a mentor of mine for quite a long time, and she's sponsored everything that
- 11:23we do as well.
- 11:25And when all those archetype things like strength finders, or all of these things, I am way
- 11:33outside the line.
- 11:34I mean, I'm so far outside the line that it's almost not even digitized.
- 11:42Wow.
- 11:43And I'm usually right in between the lines.
- 11:45Yeah.
- 11:46Right.
- 11:47Not strong on everything, but a little of a line.
- 11:49I am the extreme creative, which makes it challenging to get things done.
- 11:56But I never really had a path that, you know, my children have great careers.
- 12:02My grandchildren have great, but I never really was taught to be my best, find my best.
- 12:10But there was always something inside me, right?
- 12:13Oh, it's there.
- 12:14Yes.
- 12:15And it was always there.
- 12:16It was knocking at the door, and it was like, it was just always something more.
- 12:20So I had my help, moment, defining moment, right?
- 12:27Financing.
- 12:28Yeah.
- 12:29And so I, in six months, I was cancer-free, right?
- 12:36You know, awesome.
- 12:3818 months after being cancer-free for five years, I come back from the Galapagos Islands,
- 12:46and I had some things because as a dancer and an athlete, I'm very, very, very tuned
- 12:51into my body, right?
- 12:53Right.
- 12:54Right.
- 12:55And it was like, so I thought I had a parasite, right?
- 12:57What else would it be?
- 12:59So two and a half months later, I found myself in front of a woman who said, we don't think
- 13:04you're going to see your grandchildren draw up.
- 13:06And it's like, have you ever met a Jewish grandmother from New York?
- 13:12I mean, I don't understand who you're having this conversation with.
- 13:15So I went on my journey, which was to do things in it, moderate, integrated, but did
- 13:23a lot of building up my body.
- 13:26How did the health, what are the healthiest people, what are the healthiest people do?
- 13:29Right.
- 13:30Later, I found myself cancer-free again.
- 13:32Now, I had already started a business.
- 13:35I was in, um, freeing healthy holistic homes, getting in that, doing some workshops and
- 13:42stuff like that.
- 13:43So now I, now I have a, you know, it's interesting the word that came to me was gift.
- 13:52So now I have something where I think I can make a difference.
- 13:58But you know what?
- 13:59Starting your own business is insane.
- 14:01Yes.
- 14:02And that's why I do this podcast and do coaching for women because it's hard work.
- 14:07It, yeah, it's very realistic.
- 14:10And I'm not structured.
- 14:11So I have a great team around me.
- 14:12My team's been with me 10 or 12 years, but which is why I have somebody like Tina who's
- 14:18there, you know, because somewhere in the middle, there, there is some things that can
- 14:23get done.
- 14:24Right.
- 14:25But so here are some, some defining moments for that I have come across in my experience.
- 14:34First of all, people are basically good.
- 14:38Okay.
- 14:40In camp, when everybody was away from everybody else, now I started at eight.
- 14:45I went until I got married.
- 14:46Then I went back with my kids were there.
- 14:48Now my grandchildren are there.
- 14:50But when kids are together without all the bombarding, they become brothers, they become
- 14:58sisters and it's lifetime.
- 15:01I have girlfriends from when I was eight from.
- 15:04Wow.
- 15:05Yeah.
- 15:06And I see it with my children and my grandchildren.
- 15:09So now my son, so my children are 54 and 56, my sons in California, his boys go to UT
- 15:16in Austin.
- 15:17He has, this is crazy.
- 15:20Each one of those boys have fraternity brothers from my world.
- 15:26One of them, Noah has a fraternity brother who is the grandson of one of the two, my
- 15:33best friends from when we were eight years old in camp.
- 15:36So it, you know, it's this connection.
- 15:38I'm all about connections.
- 15:39Yeah.
- 15:40Somebody told me one time that was, I had a crazy connection with someone and she goes,
- 15:43when you're living your life in alignment to your values, those connections appear.
- 15:48Yes.
- 15:49And not everybody can take that person that does.
- 15:52I've had women say, you scare me.
- 15:55I'm sorry.
- 15:56And I think to myself, you need to get some of these toxins out of your body so you could
- 16:00feel joyful, you know.
- 16:02Yeah.
- 16:03Feel the energy.
- 16:04So here's what, here's what I started to see.
- 16:06Aside from the, the, the wonderful, the wonderful way people were living just from the technologies
- 16:13whether it's the water we use, the air, any of that.
- 16:17So now I start putting together, because now I'm the counselor, the teacher, right?
- 16:22And I can do it my way.
- 16:23So, so, and I don't mean my way, the highway, just mean I can create it around joy and,
- 16:31and legacy because that's what I'm all about, right?
- 16:34So I started to see that as I was working with women, their lives changed, their businesses
- 16:42changed, their careers changed.
- 16:45And it was like, wow, that's kind of really cool.
- 16:49So I was doing it.
- 16:50I mean, I had one woman that came to me to lose weight.
- 16:53We met at a business, business conference, because at that time I had lost 28 pounds
- 16:57just trying to eat, right?
- 16:59And all that.
- 17:00And she was a nurse, but she was running her husband's dental office.
- 17:06So now she's a very influential person in the hospice nursing space because the cleaner
- 17:19your body, the deeper your thoughts.
- 17:25Oh, true.
- 17:27When you get rid of all the toxins and the chemicals in your body, it gets rid of all
- 17:33that stuff that clouds us, that makes us feel less than.
- 17:38So I am finding women doing amazing things.
- 17:42And then I decided that from private coaching, which I love, I needed to touch more people.
- 17:49And so now we do it in groups.
- 17:51And it's just amazing.
- 17:54But the deeper, the cleaner your body, the deeper your thoughts, and hence the greater
- 18:04your impact.
- 18:05And for me, that's what it's all about.
- 18:08I have seen women do less because they feel less than physically.
- 18:16You know, I mean, you heard me saying, and it's true, but it's hard to change the world
- 18:21when you can't even poop, right?
- 18:24But the same when you can't sleep or when you don't feel it.
- 18:27Just don't get the stuff done.
- 18:29And sometimes it just means that you're not going to your kid's sock game or whatever
- 18:34that is.
- 18:35So putting that together, you know, when at almost 80, I'm in a 55 and over resort community
- 18:46and everybody's out doing all these things.
- 18:48And I do them.
- 18:49And I don't deprive myself of anything.
- 18:52But I just love, love, love the women I work with.
- 18:56And then I see what their impact is.
- 19:00And that's, that is to me, the greatest way to have an impact and to change the world
- 19:11and to have your legacy because we all have a ripple that they're just all different.
- 19:16Right.
- 19:17And that ripple effect.
- 19:18And I often wear and I've got it on today.
- 19:20I'm wearing a starfish necklace.
- 19:22Do you know the story of the starfish?
- 19:23I do.
- 19:24Yeah.
- 19:25So, you know, you just never know who that one person you're going to touch.
- 19:28Exactly.
- 19:29Or who that one person that's going to take your life, your business in a totally different
- 19:34trajectory.
- 19:35Right.
- 19:36And it's being open to those people.
- 19:38As you said, the energy, the friends be open to, you know, when people have been introduced
- 19:45to a lot more people recently because of the podcast, people are like, oh, you need to
- 19:49meet this person, you should talk to this person.
- 19:51And I try to have a conversation beforehand and just to see if we have matching energy.
- 19:58This is, this podcast is my baby and I want to make sure I have the right people on it.
- 20:04And not just somebody because they wrote a book or they think they've done something
- 20:08amazing to be, you know, to feel that energy, feel that connection with somebody and make
- 20:13a difference because you just never know who's listening.
- 20:16I've run into a couple of people, like one person I ran into, she's like, oh, you're
- 20:20Leslie with the podcast.
- 20:21And I'm like, and this was a year or so ago.
- 20:24Yeah.
- 20:25And I'm like, yes, she's my, your sister told me about it and I've been listening to it
- 20:28on the way to work.
- 20:29And I actually, because of listening to it, quit my job and my commute to have a job closer
- 20:34to home because you gave me permission.
- 20:37So that's why I love the journey and what you're doing.
- 20:40And I'm bummed I missed the training you did with Tina's group the other day.
- 20:44I need to try to find a recording.
- 20:46But so if you could share, you know, we all know health is important and there's so many
- 20:50different ideas and thoughts.
- 20:52But if somebody wanted to like, okay, what's the first step to, or the first couple steps
- 20:58to making a difference and in your own body and your own life.
- 21:03That's a great question.
- 21:04And I don't say that because you're supposed to say that's a great question.
- 21:08Most people don't ask that question.
- 21:10So remember, I'm the dancer and choreographer, I've done many much geographies professionally
- 21:18and in schools and stuff like that.
- 21:21But here's the thing for me, and because I'm so all I can be so all over the place, I must
- 21:28follow the science.
- 21:30And when we follow the science, there is a platform to stand on and be courageous with
- 21:41because you know, my intention is to help women and everybody create bodies where where
- 21:47disease and inflammation and autoimmune can't live.
- 21:52So basically, most of the time, we're filling our bodies with calories, but our cells are
- 21:59starving for nutrients and oxygen.
- 22:04So we've gone to processed foods, we've gone to fad diets, people listen, I've got all
- 22:10the badges, Weight Watchers, NutriSystems, Jenny Craig, my mother and I even did the
- 22:15Rhybrid diet.
- 22:16Did you imagine that?
- 22:17I haven't heard of that one.
- 22:18I know.
- 22:19Well, you know, when you're in Jewish community, it was Jewish Rhybrid and you have that with
- 22:22everything.
- 22:25But understanding that this is not a religious statement, okay, that we are created to be
- 22:32healthy, that God has given us everything that we need.
- 22:38So everything that we do is turning to nature for all solutions.
- 22:46Right.
- 22:48And most people, you know, you people are dehydrated and all this and that is because
- 22:53we are lacking nutrients and oxygen.
- 22:57So when we look at the water we drink or the food that we eat, it must be natural.
- 23:06And I call it eating from God's garden, right?
- 23:10So giving up processed foods.
- 23:13And I'm not about depriving anything.
- 23:16I mean, there's nothing about me that screams deprivation.
- 23:19Right.
- 23:20Nothing, right?
- 23:21It's not about, oh, do I have to give this up?
- 23:23No, like I never care what you're eating as long as you're eating from the right list.
- 23:27You know, so for people that are looking just to start, if you can look at things like dairy
- 23:35and sugar and wheat, this is the science behind the cells.
- 23:41Okay, we all hear without getting so scientific, but we all hear free radicals, free everybody,
- 23:49here's a free radicals, but nobody knows what it really means.
- 23:52And for, you know, we're walking around with more damaged cells and we have healthy cells.
- 23:57So everything has energy, you know that everything has a positive and negative charge.
- 24:03So a damaged cell when we have inflammation, we can't sleep or anything like that.
- 24:08We have too many cells that have lost that negative charge.
- 24:12And that's because we're not eating from the earth anymore, which is, you know, that's
- 24:17all that's all.
- 24:18Right.
- 24:19And to whole foods, mostly vegetables, not so much fruit, I call the 80-20, you know,
- 24:28for every fruit you have, which is has sugar.
- 24:31Yes, it's natural.
- 24:35Just be sure that you bounce it with like 80% of the other more green and stuff like
- 24:42that.
- 24:43And it's not difficult, but when you can just know that you are feeding yourselves, that
- 24:54is the biggest form of self-care, which women don't do enough of.
- 25:00So if you, you know, I start every day with hot water with lemon.
- 25:06It's a way to honor yourself to begin the day.
- 25:09Right.
- 25:10And you can tell yourself first, and that brings oxygen and all that to your brain.
- 25:14And you start to feel better.
- 25:16Look at some of the, look at bringing some of the most alkaline, oxygen-rich foods.
- 25:22Kale, spinach, celery, avocado, chard, all these.
- 25:28All that stuff is good for you and makes you feel better.
- 25:31But how come, and I don't know if it's just me or other people that, and it may be upbringing
- 25:36too.
- 25:37You're tired, you're fatigued, you're stressed, it's the end of the day.
- 25:42I go, I don't, the healthy things, although I feel better after I eat it.
- 25:47That's not what I go to.
- 25:48Because you've gone too far without it.
- 25:52Yeah.
- 25:53If you're feeling here, if you're feeling tired, listen, you've been coaching women,
- 25:58you know about business, you have a business, you have businesses.
- 26:01What you do today is a reflection of what you did 90 days before in your business.
- 26:06How you feel at this very moment is a reflection of what you've put in your body the last 24
- 26:14hours.
- 26:15Yeah.
- 26:16So just making, and I know, make those better choices, eat those healthy things.
- 26:21But so here's the thing, that's the courage of trusting your soul.
- 26:26When you are, you are who you are and you want to be.
- 26:31So in my, everything around me has to do with my family.
- 26:36I wear jewelry that was my mother's and my late sister-in-laws.
- 26:40Right?
- 26:41I mean, this is, I surround myself.
- 26:43This was my mother's vanity, her makeup table.
- 26:48Right?
- 26:49Yeah.
- 26:50So this is, so when, this just goes back to courage.
- 26:54When you understand that eating from God's garden, this, we have so much beautiful produce.
- 27:01He has such great things.
- 27:02You know, just do it.
- 27:05And I know that, you know, we have X amount of time, but you said you feel better.
- 27:09So why not feel better earlier?
- 27:11Yeah.
- 27:12It all makes sense.
- 27:13And I know all that stuff.
- 27:15Well, so here's a great quote.
- 27:22Knowing and not doing is not knowing.
- 27:26That's true.
- 27:27Knowing and not doing is not knowing.
- 27:31Right?
- 27:32And then the other quote that I love is from John Wooden, who was the most successful basketball
- 27:39coach in college history.
- 27:43Is that it's what you learn after you know it all that matters.
- 27:54And you say that again.
- 27:56It's what you learn after you know it all that matters.
- 28:04And that's just helping us let go, letting go of things that don't do, don't do a service.
- 28:11You know, that don't support us.
- 28:16You are so right.
- 28:17And when you're trusting your soul and you're always there, then you, then it's easier to
- 28:23make it's easier to make better choices because we are tuned into that soul, who we are, who
- 28:32we want to be, what we want to do all the time.
- 28:35And of course that has to do with being present all the time.
- 28:38I mean, there's a lot we're talking about.
- 28:41I could guess.
- 28:42And I know we could go on and on.
- 28:44And so it's having that courage to say why not today and get rid of the junk in your
- 28:49house.
- 28:51So if we could reverse that, if I may, sure, bring wonderful things in.
- 28:56I was about to say bring good things in.
- 28:58Yes.
- 28:59So talking about bringing things in the positive things rather than I have to get rid of this,
- 29:03I have to get rid of that.
- 29:04So what, what, what can I bring in today?
- 29:07Right.
- 29:08And eat what you love.
- 29:11Eat what you love.
- 29:12Let me just say it's everybody knows when you are craving sweets, your body is asking
- 29:17for fat.
- 29:19Really?
- 29:20Yeah.
- 29:21So eat some avocado and cooking it.
- 29:23Right.
- 29:24It's just, it's amazing.
- 29:25Yeah.
- 29:26So, yeah.
- 29:27Last week and learn, we could go on and on forever.
- 29:31Yeah.
- 29:32And listen to the whisper of your body.
- 29:33You said, when you're tired, okay, what, what is, what is it asking for?
- 29:37Right.
- 29:38Yeah.
- 29:39Yesterday with this time change, I was very tired.
- 29:42Like a nap would be good.
- 29:43And I took the dog out.
- 29:44I'm like, you know what, we're just going to go all the way around the lake because I'll
- 29:47feel much better.
- 29:49Did you?
- 29:50I did.
- 29:51Of course.
- 29:52Yeah.
- 29:53High exercising, moving and being outside and.
- 29:55Yes.
- 29:56Yes.
- 29:57All the things.
- 29:58You go girlfriend.
- 29:59I know all the stuff.
- 30:00So how would you encourage somebody else to start that journey?
- 30:04I know we kind of just talked about that, but encourage somebody to take, to say why not
- 30:09today to take their health seriously.
- 30:13And take care of themselves.
- 30:15I would encourage anybody to get out in nature.
- 30:24Let me just say these decisions are not made in the middle of chaos.
- 30:29That's true.
- 30:30Right.
- 30:31Unless we are present, we will never make a decision.
- 30:34So you said it.
- 30:36You didn't even know why, but get out in nature.
- 30:40Remember everything I turned to nature, nature, get out into in nature, walk out for five
- 30:45minutes, just be by yourself, take a hot bubble bath, whatever it is, just sit, even
- 30:56if you're just sitting quietly and breathing and you're thinking about who am I?
- 31:01What do I really want?
- 31:02And this has to come first.
- 31:05Otherwise, it's very easy to be distracted.
- 31:09You had a dog that you love that needed to go out.
- 31:13You hadn't had that.
- 31:15Perhaps you wouldn't have gone out.
- 31:17Probably not.
- 31:18Yeah.
- 31:19So think quietly.
- 31:20Find a way to be present, whether it's breathing, whether it's having a cup of hot water with
- 31:28lemon, whether it's walking.
- 31:30I'm telling you, walk out in nature for five minutes and you will have a different energy
- 31:36source around you.
- 31:38Yeah.
- 31:39I know that for sure.
- 31:40And I live on a lake.
- 31:41So yeah.
- 31:42Exactly.
- 31:43And I want to be able to go out and walk around and make such a difference.
- 31:46So we have some, I have a method called extraordinary living made easy, right?
- 31:51And it's trade locked and all that.
- 31:53But I have like, what are your my extraordinary vision?
- 32:04What is my, and I have all these words, my extraordinary vision, my extraordinary intentions.
- 32:13What are they?
- 32:14Whether you think about them or write them down for me, you know, I intend to be there
- 32:19for great and, and all of that, right?
- 32:23So what are your extraordinary visions?
- 32:26What are your extraordinary intentions?
- 32:30And then what are your extraordinary must-haves?
- 32:36Those three things in life will unfold.
- 32:41It will unveil and you'll, you know, the, the cleaner your body, the deeper your thoughts
- 32:45and it'll be like, where did this come from?
- 32:48Yeah.
- 32:49So much good stuff.
- 32:50I've been taking lots of notes and I'm going to have to listen to this again and we could
- 32:54go on and on, but I try to limit these so we're not going on too long.
- 33:00So I always ask, you know, how did you know my dad or the connection to my dad?
- 33:05And so first I'd say the first thing you mentioned was butterflies, which I feel like
- 33:10that's definitely connection to my dad.
- 33:11But I know when you were talking to him the other day, you said, trying to explain where
- 33:15you lived and you're like, do you know where Berryville is?
- 33:17And I'm like, yeah, that's where my dad is buried.
- 33:20And there's a monastery or monastery and it's got, it's on the Shenandoah River and
- 33:27it's absolutely beautiful.
- 33:28And you're like, I know where that is.
- 33:30And you had just bought a plot there.
- 33:32We just did that right.
- 33:34Well, and so that's an amazing connection.
- 33:36That was like, oh my God.
- 33:38A lot of people don't know about that place.
- 33:40And it was something that my mom discovered with a friend and it's funny.
- 33:44A lot of people, my parents' ages now are buried out.
- 33:49People that have passed away are buried out there.
- 33:50Oh my gosh, I love it.
- 33:52I love it.
- 33:53I didn't know about it.
- 33:54And Pat Wurz, who is a friend in our community, everything really, and now she's out here.
- 34:01So she and Jerry and Nevin and I have it, our anniversaries are like a week apart.
- 34:05We were out for dinner and they, they were telling us and that's how we found out about
- 34:10it.
- 34:11Wow.
- 34:12So yeah, I love going out there and just spending time.
- 34:14So beautiful out there.
- 34:16So, well, thank you.
- 34:18So if people want to find you, Elaine, where's the best place to find you?
- 34:20And I'm going to share all your contact in the show notes.
- 34:24Renewedlivinginc.com.
- 34:25Renewedlivinginc.com.
- 34:26That'll be in the show notes too.
- 34:28So your website's the best place to find you.
- 34:34Sure.
- 34:35And, or Elaine at Renewedlivinginc.com, reach out and, you know, we do a lot more than,
- 34:41than working with women that have cancer.
- 34:43That's what I specialize in right now, but we've been, I've been doing everything for
- 34:48years no matter what's going on.
- 34:49Yeah.
- 34:50Well, I'm excited to get to know you better and work with you.
- 34:54So well, thank you for being our guest and for sharing your journey and your courage.
- 34:59And I love just how it goes back to summer camp.
- 35:02It does.
- 35:03Isn't it wonderful?
- 35:04It's just so much fun to be there.
- 35:05Yeah.
- 35:06So let me thank you for a whole group of women that listen to what you do and their stories
- 35:16and having the courage to do something because your ripple is so huge that you won't even
- 35:23ever really know how far it reaches.
- 35:26You just never know.
- 35:27So thank you for what you do.
- 35:28Oh, you're welcome.
- 35:29Thank you.
- 35:30You know, and I just feel like, just like you said, in the heart of my heart and my being
- 35:33that I know this is something bigger than me and we are making a difference.
- 35:38And so some of the other things I'm doing to make a difference and like you, I'm very
- 35:43creative and all the ideas.
- 35:45So if anybody's looking for help with feeling a little overwhelmed in the chaos in your
- 35:49life, I've started a course to support women in business with that.
- 35:54Also do some one-on-one coaching.
- 35:56And one of my passions, dreams that I've always talked about with this podcast and working
- 36:02with nonprofits is definitely something that's near and dear to my heart.
- 36:07And so I'm involved in so many.
- 36:09So I've started kicked it off the end of October and for November that anybody that wants any
- 36:15why not today merchandise, whether it's a t-shirt or a cup or a mug or just a vinyl,
- 36:2120% of all the sales are going to go to a nonprofit called Spark, which provides places
- 36:28for people with severe disabilities to go during the day and have activities.
- 36:32So we're going to have another nonprofit every month and be able to give back and share
- 36:37the word just to say why not today.
- 36:40We need to be brave.
- 36:41So thank you, Elaine for sharing.
- 36:42Thank you so much.
- 36:43Thank you.
- 36:44You're welcome.
- 36:45And thank you everybody for joining us on this inspiring journey.
- 36:48Remember every day is an opportunity to take action, chase your dreams and make a difference.
- 36:52So why not today?
- 36:54Make sure you subscribe, share and review and just keep pushing forward until next time.
- 37:00Remember always say why not today?
