- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. Chris Evens hand in the end
- 0:14Speaker 1: zone touchdown. That was the momentum swing we were looking for.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Donovan People's jokes, becoming a star, Tyler Huntley, Christian Watson
- 0:26Speaker 1: and delivers up dagger speed kills again, touts right into
- 0:34Speaker 1: the candy. I'm always about to hang half a hundred
- 0:36Speaker 1: autumn touchdown, row touch what I can and then it's
- 0:45Speaker 1: trunter Hamlert like confuse CNC handsOn defre you kids came
- 0:53Speaker 1: that cow horny yards to j Brown get there. This
- 0:58Speaker 1: game has ended into the end of the time, and
- 1:02Speaker 1: that is your ball game. As I say it every Monday,
- 1:14Speaker 1: there's nothing to talk about today. I don't know. While
- 1:15Speaker 1: we're here NFL Now NFL Network from our news room
- 1:19Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. My name is Andrew Ceciliano, and a
- 1:22Speaker 1: weird thing happened. Like the three guys who host the show,
- 1:24Speaker 1: we're all kind of a sudden, all of a sudden,
- 1:26Speaker 1: sitting in the same desk omar Ruise, Steve White, great
- 1:30Speaker 1: to see a boat, Great to see you too, and
- 1:32Speaker 1: your blockbuster Sunday. So we had to have a Blockbuster
- 1:34Speaker 1: Share Monday exactly. And we have a schedule announcement coming
- 1:37Speaker 1: up shortly as well. We'll get to that in a minute. First, however,
- 1:41Speaker 1: the news today, we will have all the highlights from Sunday.
- 1:44Speaker 1: We'll be live in Tampa with the Monday night preview
- 1:48Speaker 1: as well with Sarah Walsh. But you know what the
- 1:51Speaker 1: breaking news is. We have a schedule announcement. Let's do that.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I thought we might hold it for a minute. Nope.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Here it is a week fifteen triple header on NFL Network, Saturday,
- 2:01Speaker 1: December seventeenth. We are proud to announce that we will
- 2:03Speaker 1: bring you these three games, the Indianapolis Colton perhaps at
- 2:07Speaker 1: that point, the NFC North champion Minnesota Vikings, the Baltimore Ravens,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and the Cleveland Browns. And in the nightcap, the Miami
- 2:17Speaker 1: Dolton and the Buffalo Bills rematch from September. Yeah, baby,
- 2:23Speaker 1: triple header, Week fifteen. And now here's the breaking news.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield's out in Carolina. Baker Mayfield released this morning
- 2:33Speaker 1: after fighting out that he'd be the third quarterback this
- 2:36Speaker 1: week behind Sam Donald and p J. Walker. Steve Wilkes
- 2:39Speaker 1: says Mayfield asked for and received his release when hearing
- 2:44Speaker 1: that news. This comes only hours after we found out
- 2:48Speaker 1: that Jimmy garoppolo season is over. Omar was at that game.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Will break down that game coming up shortly, but Jimmy
- 2:55Speaker 1: Garoppolo is done and that leaves Ian Rapp report, Tom Pellicero,
- 2:59Speaker 1: the forty Niners with Mr Irrelevant Brock Purdy who did
- 3:03Speaker 1: play well he deserves his credit yesterday to lead the
- 3:06Speaker 1: Niners to a win over the Dolphins, and Josh Johnson,
- 3:10Speaker 1: the well traveled veteran who they are signing off the
- 3:12Speaker 1: Broncos practice squad. So Ian, I'll go there, Baker Mayfield,
- 3:17Speaker 1: Kyle Shanahan, is this gonna happen? Well, I don't think
- 3:22Speaker 1: these things are not related, if that's a way of
- 3:24Speaker 1: kind of answering your question just a little bit. My
- 3:27Speaker 1: understanding here is that Baker Mayfield went to the Carolina
- 3:29Speaker 1: Panthers knowing that he was gonna be third string, knowing
- 3:32Speaker 1: that p J. Walker was probably gonna be healthy, and said,
- 3:35Speaker 1: maybe this is a good time move on, And actually
- 3:37Speaker 1: it could make sense for all parties, for the Carolina Panthers.
- 3:40Speaker 1: If Baker Mayfield has claimed by any team, perhaps San
- 3:43Speaker 1: Francisco forty Niners. They would save about a million and
- 3:46Speaker 1: a half dollars and salary. Not much, but at least
- 3:49Speaker 1: it is something. It also walks in the conditional pick
- 3:51Speaker 1: as a fifth rounder not a fourth rounder. Also good
- 3:54Speaker 1: news for Carolina and for Baker Mayfield to come to
- 3:57Speaker 1: Carolina and say now is a good time to wave
- 4:00Speaker 1: me Tom. You know that he had his eyes on
- 4:02Speaker 1: the San Francisco forty Niners. They have a need quarterback,
- 4:05Speaker 1: even if it's just to bring him on as the
- 4:07Speaker 1: backup and then we'll see would potentially make sense for them.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Even though they did just sign Josh Johns fan the
- 4:12Speaker 1: Broncos practice squad. It does seem like these things are
- 4:15Speaker 1: into related. We also could get some more waiver fun
- 4:19Speaker 1: tomorrow at four pm because there's some other teams that
- 4:21Speaker 1: need quarterbacks to the Rams, do the Texans do? Uh,
- 4:25Speaker 1: there's a couple others. Maybe they say, you know what,
- 4:28Speaker 1: want them? They're pretty good. Maybe we'll just claimb him instead.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Any team claiming Baker Mayfield would owe him the remaindering
- 4:35Speaker 1: about one point three five million dollars of his guaranteed
- 4:39Speaker 1: bass salary for two, so that potentially is going to
- 4:42Speaker 1: impact things as well. At a time that there are
- 4:44Speaker 1: a lot of teams that are pretty tight on the
- 4:46Speaker 1: salary cap. It is certainly possible that Baker Mayfield could
- 4:50Speaker 1: end up clearing waivers, which then would give him the
- 4:52Speaker 1: opportunity to pick his spot. But as he in reference,
- 4:55Speaker 1: this is something really that if I'm my understanding, this
- 4:57Speaker 1: has been on the minds of the people involved four
- 4:59Speaker 1: weeks here at a time that the Panthers had gone
- 5:02Speaker 1: to p J. Walker, then of course had gone back
- 5:04Speaker 1: briefly to Baker Mayfield. Then eventually the Sam Donald with
- 5:07Speaker 1: Walker getting healthy enough coming out of the by that
- 5:09Speaker 1: he can serve as the backup here, it made sense.
- 5:12Speaker 1: So Baker Mayfield met with Steve Wilkes and Scott Fitter
- 5:15Speaker 1: this morning. They had a conversation. It is a mutual
- 5:18Speaker 1: parting of the ways for Mayfield and perhaps there is
- 5:21Speaker 1: that landing spot in San Francisco. The Forts, though sit
- 5:24Speaker 1: twenty four in the waiver priority order, it is in
- 5:28Speaker 1: line with standings right now. So a lot of teams
- 5:31Speaker 1: would have to pass on Baker Mayfield before the forty
- 5:34Speaker 1: hours even when get the opportunity Andrew to claim him,
- 5:37Speaker 1: and that includes some of the teams in the division
- 5:39Speaker 1: and elsewhere fighting four playoffs spots in the NFC. Tom
- 5:42Speaker 1: tweeted the entire waiver order here. So check out Tom's twitter.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I'm holding it here at Houston one. It's a long list.
- 5:49Speaker 1: It's the longest tweet I've ever seen, actually, from top
- 5:51Speaker 1: to bottom. Houston's one, obviously, Chicago, Denver, the Rams, and
- 5:55Speaker 1: then Carolina. Carolina is not claiming him, but San Francisco
- 5:58Speaker 1: sits right in front of Baltimore twenty four and twenty five.
- 6:02Speaker 1: There's a Lamar Jackson injury question. We'll get to that
- 6:05Speaker 1: humming up momentarily. I mean, you want your head to explode.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield on the same team, and
- 6:13Speaker 1: IFC playoff picture right now looks like this Philadelphia's number one.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Minnesota could not wrap up the North yesterday, but can
- 6:19Speaker 1: this week by beating the Lions, and then you have
- 6:21Speaker 1: those forty Niners there in the three spot at eight
- 6:24Speaker 1: and four. Everyone's would be NFC champion. Sorry Eagles and
- 6:28Speaker 1: Vikings fans. Here's the reaction afterwards, including Shanahan making the announcement.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I mean, just hearing it, it's it's pretty crushing, is
- 6:38Speaker 1: we know what Jimmy has been through, how hard he's
- 6:39Speaker 1: worked at this. You know, I got that news a
- 6:42Speaker 1: little in the second quarter. UM, so it's a little
- 6:45Speaker 1: different for me, even just how happy you were with
- 6:47Speaker 1: that game. That was a really cool game just as
- 6:49Speaker 1: a team and all the stuff that went on throughout
- 6:51Speaker 1: the game and just be able to overcome some things
- 6:53Speaker 1: and so such a special win. UM. But definitely mixed
- 6:56Speaker 1: emotions hearing about Jimmy. I love Jimmy what he's done
- 6:59Speaker 1: in terms of you know, just taking me in and
- 7:01Speaker 1: being a brother to me, and um just telling me
- 7:04Speaker 1: little things and his experiences um so far in his career,
- 7:08Speaker 1: UM that have helped him, and he shares them with me.
- 7:11Speaker 1: He's not like a secretive guy or anything like he
- 7:12Speaker 1: wants the guys in that room to be better to
- 7:14Speaker 1: push him as well. UM. So to see him go
- 7:17Speaker 1: down like that, it's like, man, that sucks. Also, I
- 7:20Speaker 1: have to be ready to roll for the rest of
- 7:21Speaker 1: the game. You know, if you ask anybody how I
- 7:23Speaker 1: feel about Brock Party like, I have the most respect
- 7:26Speaker 1: and and confidence in him because I see him every
- 7:29Speaker 1: single day, you know, on the on the scout team.
- 7:31Speaker 1: The way that he the way that he comes out
- 7:33Speaker 1: and prepares and competes. You know he's prepared. He's ready
- 7:36Speaker 1: because he I mean, he played, He's played against the
- 7:38Speaker 1: best defense in the league for the past thirteen weeks,
- 7:41Speaker 1: you know, so he's gonna be just fine, and that
- 7:45Speaker 1: defense is gonna be just fine as well, turning the
- 7:47Speaker 1: Dolphins over four times and route to a huge win
- 7:50Speaker 1: for the Niners against Steve White. Omar, Omar. You were
- 7:53Speaker 1: there and you saw brock Party not only become the
- 7:56Speaker 1: first quote unquote Mr Irrelevant meeting the last pick in
- 8:00Speaker 1: the draft, all right, the first Mr Irrelevant to throw
- 8:03Speaker 1: a touchdown pass. He was the first Mr. Elevant ever
- 8:05Speaker 1: complete a forward pass in a regular season game. They
- 8:10Speaker 1: rallied around brock Purty. But there's still the remainder of
- 8:15Speaker 1: the season. Yeah, twenty five, thirty seven yesterday, two touchdowns,
- 8:19Speaker 1: just that one interception. He played like a San Francisco
- 8:22Speaker 1: quarterback would want to play. He was efficient, got the
- 8:24Speaker 1: ball into the hands of the weapons. But as far
- 8:27Speaker 1: as this season goes forward, you heard fred warners sir
- 8:29Speaker 1: that he's earned the trust of that defense. In fact,
- 8:32Speaker 1: Freder was telling me after that he talks trash to
- 8:35Speaker 1: Pretty in practice, something that he doesn't normally do because
- 8:38Speaker 1: he doesn't want to ruin the confidence of a rookie.
- 8:41Speaker 1: But Pretty has demonstrated that he can handle that the
- 8:43Speaker 1: stage is not too big for that. He proved yesterday
- 8:46Speaker 1: in that now Fred Warner also said that there is
- 8:49Speaker 1: room for this defense to continue to improve and as
- 8:52Speaker 1: Eric Armstadt said said, they want to be the reason why,
- 8:56Speaker 1: so that forty Niners defense number one in the league
- 8:58Speaker 1: right now, can certainly carry this team. Uh, they believe
- 9:03Speaker 1: as far as they want to go. Then I talk
- 9:05Speaker 1: to George Kittle a little bit after the game about
- 9:07Speaker 1: brock Pretty and he says, I don't know if it's confidence,
- 9:11Speaker 1: if it's swagged, but whatever it is, he has it.
- 9:14Speaker 1: They have to make sure they don't put all the
- 9:16Speaker 1: pressure on brock Pretty. They have to make sure that
- 9:19Speaker 1: they still get the ball in the hands of weapons.
- 9:21Speaker 1: They do their part to help him out and don't
- 9:23Speaker 1: make him have to carry this team. But the Nighters
- 9:25Speaker 1: have been through this already, right They opened the season
- 9:28Speaker 1: with Trey Lances their quarterback, and these were the same
- 9:30Speaker 1: things they were having to deal with. Our defense is
- 9:32Speaker 1: gonna have to carry the team until we figure out
- 9:34Speaker 1: what Trey Lance is. Well, here's brock Purdy with the
- 9:37Speaker 1: addition of Christian McCaffrey, who was fantastic in this game,
- 9:40Speaker 1: to help help bail out as a receiver and a runner.
- 9:43Speaker 1: And you see this defense. But again, brock Purty, you
- 9:46Speaker 1: mentioned it with the stat they do it thirty seven
- 9:48Speaker 1: times with him. Okay, they're not trying to protect him. Now,
- 9:51Speaker 1: a lot of those were screens. Remember the Dolphins were
- 9:53Speaker 1: trying to heat him up. They were putting eight guys
- 9:55Speaker 1: in the box to put pressure on him. He was
- 9:57Speaker 1: making line calls, he was changing plays. He seemed very
- 10:01Speaker 1: well versed. That goes to show you, guys, he's been
- 10:04Speaker 1: prepared because Scott's quarterbacks do not get practice reps. So
- 10:07Speaker 1: the fact that he's been working with the quarterback coach
- 10:09Speaker 1: to know the playbook because that was not a compressed,
- 10:12Speaker 1: condensed playbook when you watched that game, they opened it
- 10:14Speaker 1: up a little bit. Um. I think that's a good sign.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Still going to be a challenge though, over the course
- 10:19Speaker 1: of the rest of the regular season. Brock Purtty began
- 10:22Speaker 1: this season as the number three quarterback. When Trey Lance
- 10:25Speaker 1: got hurt and Jimmy took over number one and pretty
- 10:27Speaker 1: moved up to number two, and he led them on
- 10:30Speaker 1: nine and eleven play touchdown drives in the first half,
- 10:34Speaker 1: and then the defense did the deal in the second half,
- 10:38Speaker 1: Steve turning and Omark turning to over four times. He
- 10:42Speaker 1: had not thrown a pick since week four. He's also
- 10:46Speaker 1: dealing with a bad ankle, and he also didn't have
- 10:48Speaker 1: either of us starting tackles yesterday. Well, he was going
- 10:51Speaker 1: against the San Francisco defense that was re energized by
- 10:54Speaker 1: the return of Eric Armstead, who hadn't played in more
- 10:57Speaker 1: than two months. Like you said to it, didn't have
- 10:59Speaker 1: both of his starting tackles, so he was under siege
- 11:02Speaker 1: all day. And I think after the game to as said,
- 11:05Speaker 1: he simply had a bad game. Obviously, he admitted that
- 11:09Speaker 1: he should have played better and he put this one
- 11:11Speaker 1: on him. But I think this was nothing more than
- 11:13Speaker 1: facing a good defense and having a bad game at
- 11:17Speaker 1: the same time. And obviously Armstead's presence helped unleash Nick
- 11:21Speaker 1: Bosa and even Bosa I talked to him after the game,
- 11:24Speaker 1: he said that they felt like they had to step
- 11:26Speaker 1: up and become even more urgent when they saw Jimmy
- 11:29Speaker 1: g Go down and the rookie there at pretty at quarterback.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So it was a confluence of events for the Dolphins.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I don't think it's too much to be concerned, just
- 11:37Speaker 1: like the ankle injuries team. Yeah, I mean the Dolphins
- 11:40Speaker 1: gonna be okay too. Did not have a great game
- 11:41Speaker 1: because early remember the first play, he throws a big
- 11:43Speaker 1: touchdown pass to Kent Suffield. Then he was off target
- 11:46Speaker 1: for a while and he really wasn't under tremendous pressure,
- 11:49Speaker 1: but he got together at times. But then they had
- 11:51Speaker 1: the back to back interception. Jeff Wilson, running back stumbles,
- 11:54Speaker 1: the ball comes right to the defender. Next possession, he
- 11:57Speaker 1: throws a bad pick. The forty Niners, you know, do
- 11:59Speaker 1: some things to kind of take it away. But here's
- 12:01Speaker 1: the big thing. San Francisco had the ball seventy nine plays, right,
- 12:05Speaker 1: That's what brock Purdy did. That's ball control. Miami had
- 12:08Speaker 1: it just forty five. Time of possession forty one minutes
- 12:11Speaker 1: for San Francisco nineteen from Miami. That's pressure, meaning every
- 12:15Speaker 1: time you touch the ball you have to make something happen.
- 12:18Speaker 1: That's more on the Forts overall as a team than
- 12:21Speaker 1: just on their defense. Putting pressure on two U. I
- 12:24Speaker 1: am not in any way making excuses for the Dolphins here,
- 12:28Speaker 1: but facing the number one defense in football with Nick
- 12:31Speaker 1: Bosa screaming off the edge there without your left tackle
- 12:34Speaker 1: and your right tackle, that is a tall task, and
- 12:37Speaker 1: it is a very tall task now for the Dolphins.
- 12:39Speaker 1: They are staying out here and they get the Chargers
- 12:42Speaker 1: coming up this week here at SOFI Stadium. Thank you, Omar,
- 12:46Speaker 1: Thank you Steve. Huge game yesterday with massive playoff implications
- 12:50Speaker 1: in Santa Clara, also could have massive playoff implications in Baltimore.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson could not finish the Ravens win over the
- 12:58Speaker 1: Broncos yesterday. He left the game with a knee injury.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Snoop Huntley came in let a ninety on yard drive
- 13:05Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter when the Ravens needed it most,
- 13:07Speaker 1: and they pulled out a victory, a close one over
- 13:10Speaker 1: the Broncos. He and in Tom back with me and
- 13:12Speaker 1: and how bad is Lamar's knee as of right now,
- 13:16Speaker 1: it doesn't seem so bad. Still getting an m r I,
- 13:19Speaker 1: still waiting our results. We'll see what that ends up being.
- 13:21Speaker 1: But from what I'm told before the m r I,
- 13:24Speaker 1: the hope was that it was just a sprain relatively mild.
- 13:27Speaker 1: And then if he misses time, which generally is possible here,
- 13:30Speaker 1: if he misses time, it would probably be just one game.
- 13:33Speaker 1: That is the hope, that is the belief going into
- 13:35Speaker 1: the m R I. For the m R m R
- 13:36Speaker 1: I reveals more damage and obviously we will address that,
- 13:39Speaker 1: and that would be much worse for the Baltimore Ravens,
- 13:41Speaker 1: but some optimism, certainly that he'd be back sooner rather
- 13:45Speaker 1: than later. Ravens still tied with the Bengals. Both teams
- 13:48Speaker 1: one yesterday a top the a f C North Baltimore
- 13:50Speaker 1: has the head to head from week five. Tom Pella Sero.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Odell Beckham Jr. Has visited the Giants, there's the Bills,
- 13:57Speaker 1: and now last on the list is the Cowboys. What
- 14:00Speaker 1: do we know about that today, Holy Ander, we know
- 14:05Speaker 1: the Cowboys certainly would like Odell Beckham j Here to
- 14:08Speaker 1: be headed to Dallas, and he will, at least for
- 14:10Speaker 1: a visit that begins today should carry into tomorrow as well.
- 14:14Speaker 1: They were still finalizing his full itinerary here. But this
- 14:17Speaker 1: is really a continuation of a roughly month long, very
- 14:21Speaker 1: public push by players by head coach Mike McCarthy by
- 14:25Speaker 1: owner Jerry Jones, among others, to try to get Odell
- 14:29Speaker 1: Beckham Jr. Into a Cowboys uniform. So part of this,
- 14:32Speaker 1: of course, is the medical side making sure that that
- 14:34Speaker 1: knee checks out. And then you get into the contract
- 14:37Speaker 1: face of it as well, which is complicated because you're
- 14:39Speaker 1: not used to doing multi year deals with guys coming
- 14:41Speaker 1: off an injury like this at this particular stage in
- 14:44Speaker 1: the season. So still a lot of moving parts here.
- 14:47Speaker 1: But again, the Cowboys have made very clear their intentions.
- 14:49Speaker 1: They want Odell Beckham Jr. To join their team. Is
- 14:52Speaker 1: that going to happen maybe over the next forty eight
- 14:55Speaker 1: hours here, well, keep an eyeing everything happening in Dallas.
- 14:57Speaker 1: The Cowboys get the Texans this week with or without
- 15:01Speaker 1: Odell Beckham Jr. No thought, however, even if he did
- 15:04Speaker 1: get it, you'll done today that he would be on
- 15:06Speaker 1: the field this coming week. I'm not gonna happen. At times,
- 15:10Speaker 1: Jalet Hurts made it look easy yesterday. They didn't clinch,
- 15:13Speaker 1: but they took one step closer. Their story straight ahead hand.
- 15:24Speaker 1: All right, let's get back to the highlights here. The
- 15:25Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles and the number one seed in the NFC
- 15:28Speaker 1: actually had a scenario to clinch a playoff spot yesterday
- 15:31Speaker 1: in the A. J. Brown Reunion game. It didn't happen,
- 15:34Speaker 1: but they did win, and they wanted a big part
- 15:38Speaker 1: because of A. J. Brown. That's his eighth touchdown this year,
- 15:42Speaker 1: celebrated with his new teammates and pointing things out to
- 15:45Speaker 1: his old teammates. Ed, guess what he would score again?
- 15:48Speaker 1: Here's A J. Brown. Not open this time, not open
- 15:52Speaker 1: at all. He still caught it thirty five to ten
- 15:56Speaker 1: After the game, Mike GRD with Jason Kelsey. I've been
- 16:01Speaker 1: very fortunately only playing Philadelphia, so I don't necessarily know
- 16:04Speaker 1: what it's like the player former team, but all these
- 16:06Speaker 1: guys that played former teams, you have so much emotions
- 16:08Speaker 1: when you're a great player, when you played for a while,
- 16:11Speaker 1: you have personal relationships. Is an emotional game, uh to
- 16:15Speaker 1: whenever you come out of here, and so, yeah, I'm
- 16:19Speaker 1: sure this did me more too. A matter of fact,
- 16:20Speaker 1: you probably said that throughout the week. Um, but I
- 16:23Speaker 1: think that's that's smart on Nick to try and bring
- 16:25Speaker 1: him back down to earth. You know, at the end
- 16:26Speaker 1: of the day, you can't be focused on a lot
- 16:28Speaker 1: of that other stuff. You gotta just focus on you know,
- 16:30Speaker 1: your responsibilities are in the play. What's gonna allow you
- 16:33Speaker 1: to be successful? And attack it? And I'll tell you what.
- 16:36Speaker 1: When that guy attacks it and and he's on, he's
- 16:38Speaker 1: dialed and he's hard to contain. Philadelphia. Now this week
- 16:42Speaker 1: is win and in to the postseason. No clinting scenarios
- 16:46Speaker 1: here for the Cowboys. They are two games that a Philly.
- 16:48Speaker 1: They had a primetime game last night against Kieff Saturday.
- 16:51Speaker 1: In the Colton game that was actually somewhat close early.
- 16:54Speaker 1: It doesn't look close here when Ceedee Lamb rolls over
- 16:57Speaker 1: Rodney McLeod and rolls in to the end zone. The
- 17:00Speaker 1: Cowboys have themselves a lead early looked as if they
- 17:03Speaker 1: would cruise. It was actually they won the nineteen early
- 17:06Speaker 1: on the fourth quarter, and then the Cowboys just pounded
- 17:08Speaker 1: him again twenty one the nineteen nineteen late they won
- 17:12Speaker 1: fifty four nine team Michael Gallup James later had two
- 17:16Speaker 1: touchdowns thirty three points in the fourth quarter. That works
- 17:21Speaker 1: against teams with a losing record. But you got teams
- 17:23Speaker 1: like the Titans and the Eagles the end of the month.
- 17:25Speaker 1: How do you guys fix that? Um? I wouldn't say,
- 17:29Speaker 1: it's just like you know, fixing that. It's just you know,
- 17:31Speaker 1: we gotta come out fast. I mean, you see what
- 17:32Speaker 1: we did in one quarter. So it's just like we
- 17:34Speaker 1: started like that. You know, it's never gonna end for us.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Why did you just get there? Big Sunday night football? Okay,
- 17:42Speaker 1: playing the game. I don't know about that that, but
- 17:44Speaker 1: I appreciate a big father that was Doc that just
- 17:46Speaker 1: gave that to you. How does that feel? It feels great?
- 17:49Speaker 1: Means he has big trust to me. Uh And he
- 17:51Speaker 1: told me that after the game. He said he's coming
- 17:53Speaker 1: right back to me. So always love that. Boy. What's
- 17:55Speaker 1: gonna be your message to O b J about this
- 17:57Speaker 1: receiver group and joining the Cowboys. Man, it's a fun group,
- 18:01Speaker 1: loving group, but very competitive group. So and I know
- 18:04Speaker 1: he's you know, he's been that way his whole life.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Whole be great, you know, to have him down here,
- 18:08Speaker 1: just love it. Is there any correlation between the O.
- 18:11Speaker 1: B J talk and Ceedee Lamb and you really popping
- 18:13Speaker 1: off in recent weeks? I mean, regardless, we're gonna pop off,
- 18:19Speaker 1: but if you know, if we get all day down here,
- 18:20Speaker 1: I mean that's just that's just another recipe for disaster
- 18:23Speaker 1: for everybody else as we look at the NFC playoffs
- 18:27Speaker 1: standings or vikings can wrap up the NFC North this
- 18:29Speaker 1: week if they beat the Lions. I just I'm trying
- 18:31Speaker 1: to figure out what happened there. We get Jane Slater
- 18:34Speaker 1: in here, Um, Jane, did Dak Prescott? I mean, it's
- 18:38Speaker 1: the holiday season. Did Dak Prescott re gift Melissa Stark's
- 18:45Speaker 1: gift in the NBC postgame interview to Michael Gallup in
- 18:50Speaker 1: your postgame interview? Is he a red gifter? It certainly
- 18:54Speaker 1: is what it seemed like. But she saw the smile
- 18:56Speaker 1: on Michael Galba's face. You know, there's been a lot
- 18:58Speaker 1: of talk about O b J around here, Andrew, and
- 19:01Speaker 1: you've got to think maybe that rubs those guys the
- 19:03Speaker 1: wrong way. Of course, it was Michael Gallup who got
- 19:05Speaker 1: the new deal this offseason despite the injury, and Ceedee
- 19:08Speaker 1: Lamb who was supposed to be the annointed number one
- 19:10Speaker 1: with the departure of a Marii Cooper, and both felt
- 19:13Speaker 1: really slow to get things going. And I did ask him,
- 19:16Speaker 1: is there any correlation between when we first started talking
- 19:18Speaker 1: about O b J. Remember that was during the bye week,
- 19:21Speaker 1: right for the Green Bay game, and that that was
- 19:23Speaker 1: the game that despite the last ceedee, Lamb started coming along.
- 19:26Speaker 1: If we look at his last three games, he has
- 19:27Speaker 1: four touchdowns. He's now seventy two yards shy of a
- 19:30Speaker 1: thousand yards this season. Michael Gallup had two scores in
- 19:34Speaker 1: this one. And so look, they're all still very excited
- 19:37Speaker 1: to get Michael Gallup. I'm Michael Gallup here, O B
- 19:39Speaker 1: j here rather Jerry Jones talking about it's still like
- 19:42Speaker 1: something he covets outside of the locker room. But they
- 19:45Speaker 1: still need to get him in the building, which they
- 19:48Speaker 1: have him there today and we'll see if he goes
- 19:50Speaker 1: to the workout. I was sort of talking to Jerry
- 19:52Speaker 1: Jones with the reporters last night. Are you comfortable signing
- 19:56Speaker 1: him without an actual workout, just the physical And it
- 19:58Speaker 1: sounded like he was still if he doesn't sound sign here,
- 20:02Speaker 1: And I gotta tell you, a lot of people signed
- 20:05Speaker 1: seemed to be pointing in that direction. They are getting
- 20:07Speaker 1: all of these guys to start stepping up on offense. Now.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Some of that had to do with the fact that,
- 20:11Speaker 1: of course you've got Dac that was coming back from
- 20:14Speaker 1: the injury he didn't have the preseason so they needed
- 20:16Speaker 1: to get the timing moving along there. But not only
- 20:19Speaker 1: getting production from your wide receivers, but you're four Titans
- 20:23Speaker 1: that you've been putting out there on the field from
- 20:24Speaker 1: time to time, and then also you're running back. Something
- 20:27Speaker 1: curious last night. I don't know if a lot of
- 20:29Speaker 1: fans we're paying attention. Ezekiel Elliott was not starting on
- 20:33Speaker 1: that opening series. That's something we've never seen when healthy Now,
- 20:37Speaker 1: when Jerry Jones was asked about that post game, he
- 20:40Speaker 1: said that had to do with a punishment. I went
- 20:42Speaker 1: into the locker room, I caught up with Skip Pete,
- 20:45Speaker 1: the running backs coach, as well as Ezekiel Elliott. They
- 20:47Speaker 1: kind of gave me this file. Uh, they said they
- 20:50Speaker 1: just decided to make a change. Dak Prescott went up
- 20:53Speaker 1: to the podium and said the same. So whatever it was,
- 20:56Speaker 1: it seems like it was a small infraction. But needless
- 20:59Speaker 1: to say, Zeke still had a big game. He had
- 21:01Speaker 1: seventeen carries to Tony Pollard's twelve. Tony Pollard had two scores.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Ezekiel Elid had one. So whatever they're doing, it's working.
- 21:09Speaker 1: If you get ob j to sign in Dallas, A
- 21:12Speaker 1: lot of people just continue to say this is an
- 21:13Speaker 1: additive And then you heard Michael Gal say, I mean
- 21:16Speaker 1: you've essentially got to pick your boys and if they
- 21:18Speaker 1: can have some consistency with this team. The good news
- 21:21Speaker 1: last night that we did see them, that's really helped
- 21:22Speaker 1: that offense. Only three penalties for forty three yards, a
- 21:25Speaker 1: big difference from the week before, which was huge. And
- 21:28Speaker 1: Jane check you're a text. Melissa just texted us both
- 21:32Speaker 1: on the re gifting thing. Ha ha ha. Gift box emoji,
- 21:35Speaker 1: football emoji. Dak Prescott is a re gift everybody. It
- 21:41Speaker 1: is my cause. Mike Cleets time use the Cleets. Mike
- 21:44Speaker 1: Evans is wearing today benefiting the Mike Evans Family Foundation,
- 21:47Speaker 1: which works to change the lives of children in need
- 21:50Speaker 1: and families impacted by domestic violence. We have the Bucks
- 21:55Speaker 1: and the Saints to wrap up Week thirteen. Tonight. We're
- 21:58Speaker 1: now live at Raymond James and we say hello to
- 22:01Speaker 1: Sarah Walsh. It is round two with the Bucks winning
- 22:04Speaker 1: round one in September. What's tonight's game coming down to Sarah? Well,
- 22:10Speaker 1: as it always does when these two teams meet, these
- 22:13Speaker 1: games often come down to turnovers and that has been
- 22:15Speaker 1: particularly troubling for the Saints so far this season. On defense,
- 22:19Speaker 1: they ranked dead last when it comes to forcing takeaways
- 22:23Speaker 1: and then on the offensive side, their second to last
- 22:25Speaker 1: in the league on giving the ball away. And we
- 22:27Speaker 1: saw this just last week with this Saints team. Alvin
- 22:30Speaker 1: Kamara turned it over twice. His offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael said,
- 22:34Speaker 1: we always emphasize ball security, but this week in particular,
- 22:38Speaker 1: they have put a premium on finishing plays with the
- 22:40Speaker 1: ball in their hands. He said, it's something they have
- 22:42Speaker 1: to do otherwise that is going to get us beat. Now.
- 22:45Speaker 1: The Buccaneers have done a good job on offense of
- 22:48Speaker 1: taking care of the football. Tom Brady has just two
- 22:50Speaker 1: picks so far this season. But they have serious issues
- 22:54Speaker 1: on this offensive line and it's going to get even
- 22:56Speaker 1: more troublesome tonight given the fact that they're all Pro.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Tackle Tristan Worse is going to miss his first regular
- 23:02Speaker 1: season start since this Buccaneers team drafted him back in
- 23:06Speaker 1: He has meant so much this offensive line and now
- 23:08Speaker 1: he is out the next four weeks, likely with an
- 23:10Speaker 1: ankle injury. And that means Andrew that Donovan Smith, their
- 23:14Speaker 1: left tackle that is the only remaining starting lineman from
- 23:18Speaker 1: that team that won the Super Bowl just two seasons ago.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Tom Brady takes care of the football, but he gets
- 23:23Speaker 1: rid of it so fast and has been under pressure,
- 23:26Speaker 1: and it's going to be another challenge once again tonight
- 23:28Speaker 1: for the Buccaneers offensive line. Donovan Smith, who, to be
- 23:31Speaker 1: fair seemingly, who seemed to run out of gas in
- 23:35Speaker 1: the fourth quarter and overtime last week against Miles Garrett.
- 23:39Speaker 1: That's the Bucks side. How about the biggest question mark
- 23:41Speaker 1: tonight for the Saints? Sarah Easily the biggest question mark
- 23:46Speaker 1: for the Saints tonight is the status of Marshawn Lattimore.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Their star corner has missed the last seven games with
- 23:51Speaker 1: an abdomen injury. He was limited all week this week
- 23:54Speaker 1: in practice. He's technically listed as questionable tonight. When asked
- 23:58Speaker 1: if he can go, Dennis Allen simply responded, we'll see.
- 24:02Speaker 1: The Saints would love him out there, and I think
- 24:04Speaker 1: a lot of hands would love him out there. Given
- 24:06Speaker 1: the entertainment we can call it that's been provided by
- 24:10Speaker 1: a Lattimore and Mike Evans battling over the last couple
- 24:13Speaker 1: of seasons. These two go at it so much so
- 24:17Speaker 1: that in week two. When they last met, they both
- 24:19Speaker 1: got thrown out of the game, and Mike Evans because
- 24:21Speaker 1: of a shove on Lattimore, ended up being suspended the
- 24:24Speaker 1: following week. Now, Evans was asked about that this week
- 24:27Speaker 1: and he said, we're just two competitors to the best
- 24:30Speaker 1: in the business at our respective positions. But he said,
- 24:32Speaker 1: I have to keep my emotions in check. I can't
- 24:34Speaker 1: go just shove someone out of the air. Bulls had
- 24:37Speaker 1: the same sentiment. He said, they have to keep it
- 24:39Speaker 1: clean tonight if Lattimore can go. And then also a
- 24:41Speaker 1: couple other injuries on the Buck side to note, I mean,
- 24:44Speaker 1: so much has made about Lattimore and will he go tonight? Well,
- 24:46Speaker 1: the Buccaneers are likely and expected to be without both
- 24:49Speaker 1: of their starting safety's Antoine Winfield Jr. And Mike Edwards
- 24:53Speaker 1: are both doubtful. Todd Bowl said he'll test them tonight,
- 24:55Speaker 1: but most people do not think they'll be able to go.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Their cornerback Sean Murphy Bunting is also doubtful. So a
- 25:01Speaker 1: lot of question marks as well over on the Buck
- 25:03Speaker 1: side of things. And and Andrew forget the records, don't
- 25:06Speaker 1: look what the records say. I mean, this is a
- 25:07Speaker 1: division battle. Both teams playing tonight are very much in
- 25:11Speaker 1: the haunt, as is everyone in this NFC South. Still,
- 25:14Speaker 1: Bucks do lead the NFC South, although the Falcons loss
- 25:19Speaker 1: yesterday gives them just a little more breathing room. What
- 25:23Speaker 1: Judy Batista saw in Houston next excerse on my back,
- 25:28Speaker 1: I gotta lay must be stupid if she curved feet ahead.
- 25:33Speaker 1: And Shaun Watson was in Houston yesterday for the return
- 25:41Speaker 1: from his eleven game suspension, I'll be blunt. He did
- 25:46Speaker 1: not look good whatsoever. Put together one drive, really, one drive,
- 25:51Speaker 1: that's it. And that drive ended there with a pick
- 25:54Speaker 1: in the end zone the rookie Jaln Petrie. The Browns
- 25:57Speaker 1: won this game because the Texans just aren't good and
- 26:00Speaker 1: Kyle Allen played poorly. They had a punt return for
- 26:03Speaker 1: a touchdown. They had two defensive touchdowns, this one flight
- 26:06Speaker 1: linebacker Tony Field. The Browns win somehow, even though the
- 26:13Speaker 1: offense and Shaun Watson didn't do anything. I mean, it's
- 26:17Speaker 1: kind of long rote honestly, you know, it's just kind
- 26:20Speaker 1: of from you know, being traded, like I mentioned before,
- 26:23Speaker 1: and you know Houston was is It's still part of me.
- 26:26Speaker 1: It's part of my ladycy I got I got drafted
- 26:28Speaker 1: here as we went through a lot of ups and
- 26:31Speaker 1: downs with this organization. Um, and you know, being traded
- 26:35Speaker 1: was was tough, but you know it was a business
- 26:37Speaker 1: decision and had it happened. So leading to that and
- 26:40Speaker 1: then being my first game back here in Houston was
- 26:42Speaker 1: was tough. You know, walking into the stadium, you know,
- 26:45Speaker 1: on the opposite side of the of the stadium and
- 26:48Speaker 1: locker room. It was different because I know exactly how
- 26:50Speaker 1: those guys you know, get ready for games and how
- 26:53Speaker 1: they do the pre game to talk and everything. So
- 26:55Speaker 1: it was a lot of emotion, a lot of just
- 26:57Speaker 1: kind of you know, just trying to keep everything in um,
- 27:01Speaker 1: knowing a lot of guys that that's on that defense
- 27:03Speaker 1: and on that offense. So um, you know, it was tough,
- 27:06Speaker 1: but it was at the same time, it's very exciting
- 27:08Speaker 1: to be able to just get my feet wet and
- 27:09Speaker 1: just be able to just run around and take some
- 27:11Speaker 1: hits and you know, just see everything kind of happened
- 27:14Speaker 1: for Speed and the Browns, Judy Buttizer are actually kind
- 27:18Speaker 1: of sort of in this thing now. They faced the
- 27:20Speaker 1: Bengals this week, a team they beat earlier with Jacoby
- 27:22Speaker 1: Brisset as they try to make sense about to move
- 27:24Speaker 1: forward with Deshaun Watson. Uh, he didn't look good at
- 27:28Speaker 1: all and was more than just rusty. He kind of
- 27:30Speaker 1: looked bad and he said he felt every single one
- 27:34Speaker 1: of those seven hundred days off in terms of his
- 27:36Speaker 1: football performance yesterday. Yeah, I don't think that this performance
- 27:42Speaker 1: was actually a surprise either to Deshaun Watson or to
- 27:45Speaker 1: the Cleveland Browns. Even last week. Um, when they were
- 27:48Speaker 1: asked what they expected in football terms, Um, Deshaun Watson said,
- 27:53Speaker 1: like looked two years as a long way off, and
- 27:55Speaker 1: so he did not know how he was going to perform. Certainly,
- 27:58Speaker 1: it was not good. As you said. He was throwing short,
- 28:01Speaker 1: he was throwing low. Even the passes he completed, the
- 28:05Speaker 1: receivers were sort of pulling them off their shoetops. Um.
- 28:09Speaker 1: That interception in the end zone just did not see
- 28:12Speaker 1: the defender. Um. So there's a lot of rust to
- 28:16Speaker 1: chip off here. Um, And you know, certainly I think uh.
- 28:19Speaker 1: He He alluded to the fact that there were some
- 28:21Speaker 1: emotions about being back in Houston. You have to assume
- 28:25Speaker 1: there were some nerves about coming back off the suspension.
- 28:29Speaker 1: The the atmosphere was was not particularly bad. Yes, there
- 28:32Speaker 1: were booze, there were also some cheers, So I don't
- 28:35Speaker 1: think the atmosphere contributed to it. I think it was
- 28:38Speaker 1: just um, the long, long layoff that he is going
- 28:42Speaker 1: to have to come back from heat. You know, he
- 28:44Speaker 1: did as much as he could to prepare beforehand, but
- 28:47Speaker 1: as we know, there is nothing that can replicate game speed,
- 28:51Speaker 1: and he had not experienced that in almost two full seasons.
- 28:54Speaker 1: It showed they were the number five offense coming in here.
- 28:58Speaker 1: They took a step back. They still ran the ball
- 29:01Speaker 1: well yesterday, he just made a lot of mistakes. To
- 29:03Speaker 1: do they think they could fix by week eight team.
- 29:08Speaker 1: You know, Actually Kevin Stefanski was asked that immediately after
- 29:10Speaker 1: the game, and he was asked that today as well,
- 29:12Speaker 1: and he said he didn't want to put a timeline
- 29:14Speaker 1: on it. You know, he said he expects that Deshaun
- 29:18Speaker 1: Watson will get better even just from this week, and
- 29:20Speaker 1: certainly with every rep he will get better. Um, Kevin
- 29:24Speaker 1: Stefanski will certainly be more familiar now with what Deshaun
- 29:27Speaker 1: Watson is comfortable with, and Deshaun Watson will know what
- 29:30Speaker 1: he is comfortable with. Don't forget he's had no experience
- 29:33Speaker 1: with these receivers either. Everything is new. He had no
- 29:35Speaker 1: experience with Kevin Stefanski as the play caller. So they
- 29:38Speaker 1: have to work through all of that, all of that
- 29:40Speaker 1: chemistry has to work through. Yes, they are alive in
- 29:44Speaker 1: the playoff mix, but certainly after you see how they
- 29:47Speaker 1: played yesterday, you feel like that is really only mathematically alive,
- 29:51Speaker 1: especially because if they were playing a team that was
- 29:54Speaker 1: anywhere near more competitive than the Houston Texans, or they
- 29:57Speaker 1: would have been in big trouble, like for example, um
- 29:59Speaker 1: this week when they played the Cincinnati Bengals, we were
- 30:02Speaker 1: obviously one of the hottest teams in the league. Certain
- 30:05Speaker 1: they're going to need to get much more out of
- 30:07Speaker 1: the offense than they got yesterday. It's going to it
- 30:11Speaker 1: looked to me like it's going to take more than
- 30:13Speaker 1: one week and maybe more even than the time they
- 30:15Speaker 1: have left in this season to get to Shawn Watson,
- 30:17Speaker 1: back to the quarterback that the Cleveland Browns thought they
- 30:20Speaker 1: were acquired, and again they beat the Bengals earlier this year.
- 30:23Speaker 1: They have had the Bengals number with Kevin Stefanski and
- 30:26Speaker 1: with Baker Mayfield, and now with with Jacoby said he
- 30:29Speaker 1: did come in yesterday presented for one play. They got
- 30:32Speaker 1: a first down on a handoff to as height end
