- Jakayla Snipes: So Mercury Retrograde isn't about your Wi-Fi. Here's what it's actually reviewing. And I want to start here because I think Mercury Retrograde, the narrative that surrounds it, that's taken over popular astrology, has done some real damage to people's ability to intelligently use this transit. You know, Mercury retrograde, don't sign contracts, back up your phone, your ex is gonna text you. Be aware of that. But also, some of those things don't. happened during Mercury retrograde. Now, X's do surface, tech does get glitchy, communication does go sideways, but I think if your entire understanding of Mercury Grit retrograde is things go wrong for three weeks, that you could be missing the actual mechanism. And when you miss the mechanism, you can't use a transit. You can only endure it, you know, like just kind of get through it. And that's not what I want for you because that's what I have always been doing as well. So today I want to go deep on Mercury retrograde, like what it actually is, why it happens, and what it's actually doing to your communication and thought process when it's active. And then we're gonna get very specific about this particular retrograde, which is in Cancer, which runs June 29th through July 23rd. Because Mercury retrograde in Cancer is not the same as Mercury retrograde in Gemini. Virgo, Scorpio, the sign it shapes everything. And Cancer specifically makes us land in a place that a lot of people are not expecting. And by the end of this episode, I want you to be able to look at this retrograde and be able to clearly see it. Not as a period to survive, but as a period with a specific agenda. Because once you know the agenda, you can work with it instead of just waiting for it to be over. So let's get into it. Welcome to the astrology of it all. I'm Jaquela. Astrology is a system, not superstition, seasonal patterns as survival intelligence, not fate, Lego. So let's start at the beginning. Because I think it's worth building this from the ground up. Even if you've heard about Mercury retrograde a hundred million cajillion times, I want you to have the actual picture in your head, not the sh not just the cultural shorthand. So let's talk about the astronomical reality. Mercury retrograde is a visible vis of visual. visible. I can never speak. Mercury retrograde is a visual phenomenon. It's not Mercury actually reversing its orbit. Planets don't do that. Instead, what's happening is Mercury is the planet closest to the sun, which means it moves much faster than Earth does. It's done with this orbit in about 88 days. We complete ours in 365. So if you imagine two cars in a circular track and the inner car is moving a lot faster than the outer car. Most of the time, from the perspective of the outer car, the inner car appears to be moving forward, is pulling ahead, but there are specific windows when the geometry shifts, when the inner car has lapped around to a certain position relative to the outer car's trajectory. So it can appear from the outer car's vantage point to slow down, to stop, and then to move backward for a stretch before it appears. To be able to move forward again. And that's Mercury retrograde. Mercury isn't going backward, it just appears to from where we're standing. Now, does the optical illusion have real effects? Yeah. And that's why that's not. Like, I guess let me explain why that's not as strange as I think it sounds. So We use Mercury as a lens. In the astrological framework, Mercury represents how we process information, communicate, transmit ideas, move through the logistics of daily life. And Mercury is the messenger function, the part of the psyche that takes information in, makes some sense of it, and sends it back out in some usable form. And when Mercury appears to move in reverse, that function turns in on itself. It just runs backwards through information instead of forward. So afford Mercury, we're going to be gathering input, processing it, transmitting it outward. Retrograde Mercury, we're going to be gathering input, processing it, reviewing it, going back over what's already been transmitted. And that's the mechanism. It's a review function. That's how I see it, at least. Mercury retrograde is the communication and information processing function running in review mode for approximately three weeks. Now, why does it feel so disruptive? And why that leads to the things people associated with it? Because when you're in review mode, new things are harder. Starting new projects, signing contracts, launching things, making your irreversible decisions. These are all forward motion activities. And you're trying to move things forward while the mechanism that processes and communicates information is going backward over what already exists. So we got some friction there. Not because the universe is blocking you, but because you're swimming against the current of what the period is designed for. So the tech problems, communication mix-up, delays, these are symptoms of the same thing. Your communications are being reviewed, which means they're more likely to need revision. You send the email that needs to be resent. You have the conversation that needs to be revisited. You make the plan that needs to be rethought. And it's not punishment. It's just what happens when a review mechanism is active and you keep trying to move forward anyway. You know, if you got like an ex texting you, that's the review functioning, surfacing old threads, old relationship conversations that may not have been complete, old version of things that need to be examined before they can be properly closed. So everything that comes back during Mercury retrograde can come back because it was not. Done. There was something unfinished in the communication, understanding, or the decision. And the Mercury retrograde surfaces so you can actually finish it. So there are a few structures of retrograde. Mercury retrograde has three different fra phases. And I want to name them because they do feel different. the shadow period. This is sometimes called the pre-shadow. It starts two to three weeks before Mercury actually stations retrograde. We're in that shadow period right now. This is when Mercury passes over the degrees it will later retrograde back through. Also, just for a note, if anyone wants to kick no, I'm recording this on June twenty fifth, nine ⁓ five AM and I'm in Eastern Standard Time Zone. I'm in Orlando. so the ⁓ retrograde, was that? What's that talking about? Something about the shadow period. The shadow period is basically when Mercury stations retrograde. And this is when Mercury passes over the degrees, it's going to later retrograde back through. So this is when we start noticing things slowing down, conversations becoming more complicated, certain themes starting to surface because the shadow period is the first signal. And then the retrograde itself, June 29th through July 23rd in this case, is when Mercury is actually moving backwards through the sky. This is the most active review phase. This is when things come back, decisions get reconsidered, conversations resurface. ⁓ see, the first shadow period, post the post-shadow period, it runs from when Mercury stations direct until it clears the degree where it first stationed retrograde. I hope I'm making some sense. But in this case, ⁓ that be running approximately through August the 6th. This is the integration phase where Mercury's moving forward again. It's kind of going back over the same territory you just reviewed. So this is when you act on what the retrograde surfaced. You have that conversation you realized you needed to have. You make the revision, you implement the thing, you figure it out. And so the full arc is roughly about six to eight weeks. And the retrograde itself is the middle three. So that's the mechanism. It's a review period, not a punishment, a function. Now I want to talk about why cancer specifically changes. Everything about this one. So before we get to the retrograde, let's establish what Mercury in Cancer looks like normally when it's direct and forward moving. Because the retrograde is a review of that. And I find it hard to explain more without letting us talk about what it's like when it's just at its regular deadlaw. You know what I'm saying? So Let's talk about Mercury and Cancer in the seasonal framework. Some of my favorite words. Cancer corresponds to early summer. This is when the summer solstice is through late July. This is the season when the most vulnerable things in the natural cycle are present. Newborns, fledglings, seedlings that haven't fully established themselves yet. Because early summer is abundant and warm. Yes, but it's also the season when the most fragile things are alive and need the most protection. And cancer survival strategy is protection, where it's about bonding deeply and creating safe shelter and staying attuned to what's fragile, defending what's vulnerable before anything can threaten it. is a season where the primary task is keeping the vulnerable thing alive, ⁓ means staying in close proximity to it, being constantly attuned to its needs, ⁓ willing to defend it fiercely when anything approaches. Does it sound like the mother to you? That's what we call it. Cancer, the mother. So Mercury and Cancer is going to be applying that logic to communication. And Mercury and Cancer, it communicates with care. It reads the emotional temperature before it speaks. It circles around the vulnerable thing, the real feeling, the actual need, the thing that matters most. Like let's just say, for example, with a mom, you know? a mom's greatest love most likely is her child. But she may try to, you know, like let's just let's just give an example. Like maybe like a mom is feeling type of way when their child, their son or daughter, whatever is like dating. Maybe they're older now a little bit and maybe there's red flags they feel that they flagged, you know, the parent themselves. And so you know, maybe like they're trying to come at their kid from like outwardly. You know, like trying to use examples of actual behaviors that they may see their part that their their child's partner presents that could feel problematic to the parent and they're trying to communic you that's the g you get what I'm saying? Like I'm I it's I'm like struggling a little bit to like bring this example fully out because some examples I feel like I feel more than I'm able to like verbalize. But you get what I'm kinda meaning where like maybe like the mom is like circle or the parent is circling around that vulnerable thing, that vulnerable communication. What they actually feel like maybe they feel like maybe the maybe the real root of it could be That parent doesn't want you to love that partner more than you love them because you've been their whole lives. And I'm not saying like that's a healthy thing that you should be like, ⁓ like, no mom, I love you more than my own partner. I'm not saying all that, but I'm saying like that could be an emotion, a situation. But Mercury and Cancer doesn't just blur out the truth. It considers whether the other person is in a state to receive it, which is also a very motherly parent figure type of thing to do, which is why I'm gonna probably keep relating it back to the mom. in that type of relationship with a child because that's the clearest example I have. Like, you know, you're probably not going to want to just blurt out the truth to your child. Like, ⁓ I think this person's a red flag for you because A, B, C, or D or whatever. probably gonna consider whether your kid is in the state to receive it and think about the relationship and whether saying the thing will damage or deepen it. So it can tend mercury and cancer It can tend to move towards indirectness, not because it's evasive, but because being direct can feel risky when you're operating from an early summer protective logic. So think about what an early summer organism actually does. It doesn't expose this young to threats unnecessarily. Or wander into open territory without checking where they're safe first. Instead, it moves carefully, it stays close to shelter, it keeps that vulnerable thing protected until conditions confirm if it's safe to expose it. Now, Mercury in cancer communicates a lot this way. But here's where it gets a little interesting to me because that protective communication is genuinely intelligent. When you're dealing with something fragile, Protective communication is the right strategy. Cause you don't be charging into emotional conversations without reading the room. At least you shouldn't. You shouldn't expose vulnerable truths to people who haven't shown they can hold them. But protective communication has a shadow side. When protection goes too far, it becomes avoidance. When you circle around the real thing so carefully for so long that you never actually say it, when you protect the relationship so assiduously that you Stop being honest inside of it. When you protect the other person from your truth so consistently that they've never actually met your real needs, and neither have you, because you've been so focused on keeping everything safe that you've never let the real thing surface. so Mercury in Cancer Direct is like protective communication, reading the room, speaking with care. But Mercury in Cancer Retrograde is reviewing where that protective communication became something else, where it became avoidance. Dressed up as sensitivity or became keeping yourself safe from the vulnerability of being truly known. That's the retrograde. Now Let me get a little concrete about what this actually surfaces. Cause I think abstract retrograde descriptions aren't that useful. so I have a little few thoughts and it's not on the slide now. But flavor one. Conversations you didn't have to protect someone. There are conversations we don't have because we tell ourselves we're protecting the other person. Like they can't handle this right now. It's not the right time. I don't want to upset them. And sometimes that's true because sometimes a protective read on a conversation is genuinely accurate and waiting is the right call. But sometimes it's not about protecting them at all. Sometimes those let's be real with ourselves, it's about protecting ourselves from the vulnerability of saying the real thing. Because you may not want to upset them. You know, that feeling can be so true. But the reason you you don't want to upset them could also be because you're afraid of what happens if you do. if that conversation gets hard or if they pull away or if the relationship changes, it could hurt. And Mercury in retrograde, ⁓ gonna make some of these come conversations loud as hell. The things you've been not saying to protect someone or to protect yourself, they're gonna surface. ⁓ gonna surface through other people bringing things up. situations rearranging themselves so the conversation is unavoidable or through your own internal landscape making it impossible to pretend you haven't been avoiding something. So pay attention to what comes up the conversations you've been postponing, the things you've been saving for when the time is right, when the time is actually just never felt safe enough. And the relationship where you have been a whole version of yourself that you've been withholding because you're not sure that you can hold it. So another thought is emotional truth sideways. I think this one is sub like a little bit more subtle. but I kind of think it's the most important flavor, this retrograde. Because mercury and cute cancer, it could tend to communicate emotional truth at an angle. It's not gonna be direct. Like it might tell you, ⁓ I'm fine when it's not, and they're gonna help you read the signals. Or it could express a need as a preference, but they're gonna like downgrade it to something that sounds a little less needy, or might talk around the actual feeling, like where you're orbiting it. giving you all the context and the surrounding information without ever landing on the thing itself. You know, like if someone's like, I've just been very tired lately. But maybe it was actually they're really feeling is I'm lonely and I don't know how to tell you that without sounding like a burden. Or like if you're like, ⁓ it's whatever, don't worry about it. But what you know you actually may be saying is it hurt me and I needed you to respond differently. And I don't know how to say that without starting a freaking fight. Or if someone's like, I think we should probably talk about it at some point. But what's actually true is I've been waiting for you to bring this up for three weeks and I'm starting to feel like I'm invisible. Boo, where I'm at, where I'm at. See, cause Mercury retrograde in cancer is auditing your indirect speech, those sideways communications, those needs that are expressed as casual suggestions, and the pain instead gets encoded as I'm fine. So the things you've been saying around is what I'm talking about, instead of things you've been saying directly. And this retrograde, so sorry, but it's gonna force you to give feedback on those communications, ⁓ through misunderstandings that are gonna force clarification or through conversations that finally open the thing you've been circling around, ⁓ possibly through your own internal awareness about getting sharper about the gap between what you're saying and what you mean. ⁓ ⁓ Then we get into how you speak about home, family, belonging. So Cancer's territory is home, family, and origin, the place where you come from, and the place where you feel safe enough to be yourself. This is the fourth house, the early life, the foundational emotional environment. And Mercury retrograding cancer is gonna run a review through the stories you tell about those things, not just in conversation, but in your own head. The narrative you have about your family, your childhood, your home life. The way you talk about where you come from when someone inquires. And sometimes those narratives are accurate, you know? Sometimes they're the version you set it on because it was easier than the more complicated truth. Sometimes they're the version you tell yourself to protect people, maybe your parents, the people you love, your family. From the more honest account of what it was actually like. And then sometimes the narrative is the version you tell to protect yourself from having to grieve something or acknowledge something or want something you've been told you don't want because wanting it just felt a little too risky. So Mercury retrograde in cancer isn't asking you to blow up your family or rewrite history. It's just wanting you to notice where the story you tell has smoothed over something real. Where the way you talk about home. Doesn't actually quite match how you actually feel when you're there. Where you've been using language to manage the distance between what was and what you needed it to be. So Mercury retrograde affects someone, everyone to some degree. ⁓ governs communication for all of us. But there are specific placements that are gonna fill this one a little more acutely. So ⁓ Cancer placements, that's the obvious one. Sun, moon, rising, Mercury. If you have major placements in cancer, this retrograde is running through your home territory. Mercury, retrograde, and cancer is reviewing the exact communication style and logic that you run from. So for Cancer Sons, this is your identity and your way of moving through the world f from being put under review. For Cancer Moons, I see this as like your emotional operating system, the way you process and express feelings, that's gonna be examined. For Cancer Rising, I would think about your automatic first response to people ⁓ situations being reconsidered. And then for cancer mercury placement specifically, ⁓ I I your entire communication style is being audited, I'm gonna be honest with you. But this doesn't mean the retrograde's harder for you by the way. It just means it's more specifically targeted. This review is going to hit closer to home. ⁓ What is going to feel more personal. More directly about who you are and how you relate. also if you're a Capricorn placement, because Capricorn is the opposing sign of Cancer, so whatever is happening in Cancer is also activating that Capricorn axis. ⁓ when you look at ⁓ end of a polarity, you're automatically, guys, looking at the other. So if you have significant Capricorn placements, Mercury retrograde in Cancer, it is going to illuminate like the ⁓ between the external structure ⁓ the internal emotional truth. The Capricorn end of your chart, it tends to organize around achievement or discipline, like what you've built and what you're responsible for. And so the cancer end is gonna be like, all right, what do you feel underneath of all that? Like what you need, boo? What's fragile that isn't getting protection because you've been so focused on structure? And so Capricorn placements here in this retrograde. If I had any advice for you, I would say like pay attention to where your sense of responsibility has been. Like a way of not dealing with your own emotional life, I guess I would say. I think that's the best way I can put it. Like where being capable and in control has maybe been a strategy for you for avoiding that vulnerable conversation. so another placement this can hit very hard if you have a lot of fourth house placements, ⁓ the fourth house is cancer's natural home. This is where it rules family home. ⁓ Roots, ancestry, deprived self, the early life environment. So if you have multiple planets in your fourth house, or if your fourth house cusp is in a prominent sign, look out for that as well. Mercury retrograde is gonna be activating all the landscape for you. So this could look like family stuff coming up. ⁓ dynamics with parents or siblings resurfacing, conversations about home, literal home, like where you live, what feels like home, becoming just like suddenly very loaded. Questions about belonging. And roots and where you come from could become more pressing than they have been in a while. And see the fourth house, it holds a lot of early life material that we can carry into adulthood, like largely unconsciously. Like you won't even really realize the shit you're carrying from your childhood for a lot of heavy fourth house people. But Mercury retrograde and cancer, it can surface that material in ways that are unexpected. So don't be surprised that things from your past come up in a present context. Like Something in your maybe your current relationship triggering an old dynamic or something at work stirring up a feeling that doesn't quite match the situation. That could be your fourth house activating. And then also we have our Aries and Lib replacements because these are our square signs for this. So they're gonna feel some friction here as well. Not directly, but squares do create like tension and Mercury retrograde squaring your natal positions can make communication in those areas of your chart feel just so much more complicated and prone to misfire. So, you know, if you don't know your chart well enough to track which of these applies to you, I do offer seasonal blueprints readings. link will be in a QR code at the end of the slide. You can go if you want to, I don't care. But that's gun that's gonna hit the hardest. But like I wanna talk a little bit about what this review period actually acts. And I wanna spend a little time on this section because I kind of think it's like the most useful part, if you ask me. but the question marker retrograde in cancer is actually asking. It's not like what needs to be fixed in your tech setup. That's what I used to always think it was. Like that was my generic basic. or like what conversations do you need to have? No, I think it's more specific than that. I think it is what emotional conversation did you start and then abandon? Nah, I ain't talking about conversations you never begin, or conversations you just decided weren't worth happening. I mean the ones you started. Maybe you opened the door just a crack and you said something that gestured towards the real thing. And you set something in motion and then you stopped. You backed off. You let it trail into ambiguity. You softened it back into something that felt less risky. And maybe you said, ⁓ we'll talk about this later. And later never came. See, those are not the conversations Mercury retrograde in Cancer is gonna finish. Those are the conversations. Like whether you're ready or not. let me say why I feel this frame is so like useful. I'm sorry, I'm just like stumbling over some of my words. Cause like some of my thoughts are. Like I'm like jumping ahead in my brain about something else that I want to talk about. So my brain. So I think I meant to say like these are the conversations Mercury retrograde and cancer is gonna finish, whether you're ready or not. But anyway, this is why I found the this frame the most useful. Because I think when you understand that retrograde is specifically reviewing unfinished communication, like conversations that were started and not completed, you can kind of stop trying to figure out what's going to go wrong and start looking for what you already know wasn't finished, if that makes any sense. Cause you already know. You don't have to wait for the retrograde to like surface that shit. You could think right now about the conversations in your life that are just open threads. Like it's not that difficult to see. The ones where something maybe was said and then never followed up on, or you sense something shifting in a relationship and neither of you named it, ⁓ where you made a bid for something for close to to to close a door or to get acknowledgement or to get clarity and either didn't get a response or didn't follow through on it yourself. Those conversations are gonna be the one that's gonna like on the top of the retrograde's agenda. I guess I got a I got a couple examples. ⁓ so like let's say like you're in a relationship where maybe you said something vulnerable, like a need, a fear, something real, and the response you got from your partner friend or whatever felt inadequate. So y you don't see it again. Maybe you just quietly start needing less or pretending to. Because the experience of not being met with it the first time could teach you that it wasn't safe to try again. So this retrograde might surface this through the relationship itself becoming strained in a way you can't ignore, or through your own emotional landscape becoming claustrophobic in a way that could point back to that moment. Or or let's say that let's say this is a f family dynamic instead. Not everyone has partners, I don't. But let's say it's like a family dynamic where something happened, that no one fully processed, something that got smoothed over because that's what the family may do. Maybe they smooth things over, never move forward, don't dwell. And somewhere in you there's a version of events. That that could have never been acknowledged. So Mercury retrograding cancer can bring that up. Sometimes through family situations literally arising during the retrograde period, sometimes through internal material surfacing in unexpected ways. It might be something you also said to yourself that you haven't followed back up on, by the way. The these conversations don't have to be with other people. They could be with yourself, boo. You could you could recognize something in yourself that arrived and then got protected back into silence. And you could, you know, maybe like, I need something different. This wasn't actually working for me. There's something I I want that I've been telling myself I don't want because it feels too risky to want. See, the retrograde is the review of those internal conversations too. But the key shift I want to offer here, I guess, is this. Instead of relating to Mercury retrograde as a period when things get disrupted, relate it to a period when unfinished business surfaces so you can actually finish it. The disruptions are usually just the unfinished business making yourself impossible to avoid. And I think once you see it that way, you can become more intentional and meet the material when it comes up instead of being ambushed by it. Which again is like the biggest reason why I talk about this thing. You're talking about astrology. There's this quote that's like it goes like the f a ⁓ aha, I I can you know what? Where's my phone? Cause I swear ⁓ I just got Come paycheck. ⁓ 'cause I can like for some reason my brain just like never can it. And I'm like so bad at remembering things like off the top of my head like that. full ⁓ stars. Here is. A fool is ruled by the stars. A wise man is aware of it. That and that's not that's like the biggest reason. Like you can go your entire life without needing a drip of astrology in your life, without ever knowing your sun sign. Like you don't have to have it. However, when you do have it, it's like a tool for living, I believe, that you can just be aware of instead of being ambushed by the situations. So Practical. Let me give you a framework for actually working with this retrograde rather than just surviving it. Because the seasonal context here is important. You know, Mercury retrograde, it lands in cancer, which is early summer, the peak nurturing season, the season that is tending to what is vulnerable, ⁓ deeply, protecting what's matters. And when I think about the practical question this retrograde is asking, I see it as Who and what have you been nurturing through instead of presence? And I think that phrase matters because nurturing through avoidance, because cancer strategy is nurturing, is wired to tend, protect, care. But you can do something that looks like nurturing and actually it can function like avoidance. You can care for someone's comfort so consistently that you never actually care for the actual relationship or you can protect. The piece so perfectly that nothing real ever actually gets to breathe inside of it. Or you can be so focused on keeping something safe that you never actually touch it. And that's nurturing through avoidance. It kind of like wears the costume of care, but it's actually a way of not being present to what's really there. So this retrograde, what is really asking of you is are you doing that? Where is your potential? Instinct actually functioning as distance. Where are the things that you care about the most being maintained through careful management rather than genuine contact? So have a little bit of a suggestion for how I would approach the three and a half weeks of this retrograde. The first week, I just think notice. ⁓ don't try to fix anything in the first week. Just see what surfaces, what comes back up, who reaches out, what feelings arise that you haven't felt in a while. What conversations become suddenly unavoidable? What your internal narrative is saying when you slow down enough to hear it, write things down if that helps. Just be in observation mode. And then for your second week of the retrograde, assess. By mid-retrograde, you should have a clearer picture of what the retrograde is actually pointing at. And so assess it. Not in a defensive way, but do it curiously. The unfinished conversation that came up, think about it. What would it actually mean to finish it? What's the version of that conversation that's true? What have I been communicating sideways that I could just say directly to your face? And what did you start and then protect yourself from completing? And then the week three, begin to respond. Not complete, because Mercury doesn't go direct until July 20, yeah, July 23rd. So you're still in re review mode. you can start to respond to what the retrograde has surfaced. Have the conversation you've been circling. Say the thing you've been communicating sideways. Acknowledge to yourself the thing you've been protecting yourself from acknowledging, basically. Because you don't have to resolve it yet. You just have to stop pretending that it's not there. And then when we get to the post-retrograde through August 6th, act. When Mercury goes direct and clears the shadow, this is when you complete things. The conversation gets finished. The decision gets made. The revision gets implinted. im implement it. Did I say implanted implanted? so sorry guys. I can never talk. but the retrograde could surface it. The post shadow is when you get to do something with it. And then if I had like one more specific s suggestion, ⁓ I say if you know there's a conversation you've been avoiding and most of us know, don't try to have it in the first few days of the retrograde with Mercury's still stationing. The stationing period right around June 29th is the most turbulent y'all. emotions the most high the communication function it is it it it is at his most internally focused and the risk of saying something that you'll need to walk back is much higher than usual so give it a few days ⁓ the retrograde kind of settle into his rhythm and then try to approach the conversation with full presence rather than a high charge because you're gonna also probably be a little in an emotional charge so ⁓ that's that's mainly what I came here to talk to you guys about ⁓ you know, so Mercury retrograde and cancer June twenty-ninth through July twenty-third. And again, this is not a Wi-Fi problem or three-week punishment, but it's a review of your protective communication, the conversations you've been having carefully, sideways, or not at all. The emotional threads are open, the things that you started saying and then stopped, the people and relationships you've been nurturing through careful management instead of genuine presence, because the retrograde is gonna surface those things. And it's not to make your life difficult, but because they're not finished. And unfinished things don't actually go away, guys. They just go underground and wait. And this retrograde is giving you the past you need to actually finish them. One last thought I kind of want to leave you with. A cancer seasonal assignment is protection. And we've talked a lot about that today. But protection is only one half of what early summer does. The other half is bonding. The thing that makes early summer work for vulnerable life isn't just the parent protecting the young, it's the bond between them. That bond is real. That presence is genuine. That thing being protected feels known and held, not just managed. And you see, protection without genuine contact isn't actually protection. It's just management at a safe distance. And I think that this retrograde is wanting you to close that distance and to make that contact real and to actually be present to the people and things and versions of yourself you've been protecting from a very careful remove. So that's the work. Mercy retrograde retrograding cancer. It's not about your Wi Fi. Thanks for listening, guys. I'm Jaquela. This has been Astrology of It All.
