- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to a meeting of the minds crafted from decades
- 0:05Speaker 1: of talk show experience, an extension of the magic they've
- 0:08Speaker 1: created together on radio in the phenomenon called M & M.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hot topics in the news and wisdom from life. It's
- 0:17Speaker 1: Mark Davis and Mike Gallagher. This is M & M Extra.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Hey, everybody. Welcome. Welcome to M. It is Wednesday, the
- 0:25Speaker 2: 16th of September. One of the M's. I'll tell you
- 0:28Speaker 2: where Mike is in a second. And then I'll tell
- 0:30Speaker 2: you where his headspace is at, as the kids once said,
- 0:33Speaker 2: because we had a pretty fascinating in our M & M.
- 0:35Speaker 2: He did join us on radio today, and many of
- 0:37Speaker 2: you just finished hearing his radio show. He is pursuing
- 0:42Speaker 2: some medical advice on something. Welcome to the summer of
- 0:46Speaker 2: cardiovascular adventures for your talk show boys and your podcast bros,
- 0:50Speaker 2: because it's more on that in a second. But during
- 0:55Speaker 2: our radio time together, which you should all get, follow
- 0:57Speaker 2: me on Twitter at Mark Davis. Follow Mike on Twitter
- 1:01Speaker 2: at Gallagher Show. And usually once we're done at roughly
- 1:05Speaker 2: a little before 8 central time each morning during my
- 1:09Speaker 2: actual radio show, the entirety of our magical time together
- 1:13Speaker 2: on radio is thus posted. And Mike had a bit
- 1:16Speaker 2: of an epiphany. And it's funny. You might have gleaned this.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Mike is a funny cat. he'll have a rethink about
- 1:24Speaker 2: something as I will sometimes do. We all do. It's like, well,
- 1:27Speaker 2: it was the first thing I said about that. The
- 1:29Speaker 2: smartest thing, maybe I need to revise and extend my remarks.
- 1:32Speaker 2: And he just came at us hat in hand. I
- 1:35Speaker 2: want to apologize. I was like, dude, stop it. Don't
- 1:38Speaker 2: worry about it. Um, he, he, he was soaked in
- 1:42Speaker 2: contrition for what he thought was a case of what
- 1:48Speaker 2: I often call your heart eating your brain, uh, on
- 1:51Speaker 2: the notion of legal immigration. We'll get to that in
- 1:54Speaker 2: a second. His head is right now. His heart is
- 1:57Speaker 2: always right. I love my buddy. And I'll let you
- 2:00Speaker 2: know what it was like to be sort of on
- 2:01Speaker 2: the receiving end of that. Meanwhile, we appreciate all of
- 2:04Speaker 2: you who are on the receiving end of this podcast
- 2:06Speaker 2: and the people for whom we are on the receiving
- 2:09Speaker 2: end of their magnificent partnership like Preborn. Our entire podcast

- 3:34Speaker 2: much better than I ever did before and appreciate them
- 3:36Speaker 2: even more. you'll get little clips, little sub clips of things,
- 3:40Speaker 2: little subsets of stuff that we do. So click it,
- 3:44Speaker 2: like it, subscribe to it, make it a part of
- 3:46Speaker 2: your life, live it, learn it. M and M extra
- 3:50Speaker 2: there in the world of YouTube. Thank you. Okay. End
- 3:53Speaker 2: of direction from me. So I've got some stuff I
- 3:56Speaker 2: want to do today. Things I want to get to.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Obviously there was Mike's point about, uh, about legal immigration
- 4:03Speaker 2: and being another day ending in Y. I guess we've
- 4:05Speaker 2: got to have some bit of back and forth on AI.
- 4:12Speaker 2: My journey on this is I'm open to the pro people,
- 4:16Speaker 2: the anti people. The concern is all good. Toward the end,
- 4:22Speaker 2: I'm going to take a look at my suspicion of
- 4:24Speaker 2: people on both sides of the political spectrum who are
- 4:28Speaker 2: involved in what seems like an AI panic cult. Okay,
- 4:31Speaker 2: so more on that in a minute. All right, there's
- 4:34Speaker 2: Charlie Kirk news here in your official podcast for everything
- 4:38Speaker 2: Charlie Kirk. It is now a year and six days.
- 4:44Speaker 2: I'll never forget that day. I mean, the phone rang.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Everything starts with a phone ringing. Did you see this? Like,
- 4:53Speaker 2: are you aware of this? I had no idea what
- 4:54Speaker 2: was going on out of Utah Valley University. And as many,
- 5:00Speaker 2: many things will, as many horrible stories will, the first
- 5:04Speaker 2: information is either incomplete or wrong. I remember somebody saying,
- 5:09Speaker 2: I think he's going to be okay. You know, that
- 5:11Speaker 2: was just pure wishful thinking. He was so totally dead,
- 5:14Speaker 2: probably almost immediately. And I just, I'll never forget that day.
- 5:18Speaker 2: And those of us in the Salem family, and Mike
- 5:21Speaker 2: knew him, you know, they were texting buddies for crying
- 5:23Speaker 2: out loud. And he was part of our corporate, you know,
- 5:28Speaker 2: media network. with a podcast and a show never to
- 5:32Speaker 2: be forgotten, never ever to be forgotten, our friend Charlie Kirk.
- 5:37Speaker 2: So the news today. Charlie Kirk's family has filed what's
- 5:43Speaker 2: called a notice of claim. It's a precursor to a lawsuit.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And it's a lawsuit against the university where he got shot,
- 5:52Speaker 2: Utah Valley University. They're also suing the state. suing key
- 5:58Speaker 2: individuals involved in campus leadership and security decisions, alleging that
- 6:03Speaker 2: their failures led to Charlie's wrongful death. So as I
- 6:09Speaker 2: take you through a detail or two about this, you know,
- 6:12Speaker 2: the first thing that occurs to me is 20-20 hindsight.
- 6:15Speaker 2: The other thing that occurs to me is grief as
- 6:17Speaker 2: a motivator. You know, if somebody kills a loved one
- 6:20Speaker 2: of mine, I'm going to want them strung up in public.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I'm coming at them with every fire hose I have
- 6:28Speaker 2: of pain and revenge and justice, whatever you want to
- 6:32Speaker 2: call it. And so I don't know. I do remember
- 6:35Speaker 2: in the days following that number of six, there were
- 6:40Speaker 2: like six security people working. And I remember thinking, that
- 6:45Speaker 2: seems small. Of course, the reason you think that seems
- 6:48Speaker 2: small is because he just got shot. And I wondered
- 6:52Speaker 2: if somebody had called me, you know, on September 9th,
- 6:56Speaker 2: and said, you know, Mark, Charlie Kirk is due to
- 6:59Speaker 2: be speaking at Utah Valley University tomorrow, and they got
- 7:03Speaker 2: about six security people assigned to that. That sound about right?
- 7:08Speaker 2: I don't know. I might have said, probably. I don't know.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I mean, being Charlie, it was a lightning rod. for
- 7:16Speaker 2: all kinds of negative attention for being right on so
- 7:19Speaker 2: many things. I mean, maybe I'd have thought that they
- 7:21Speaker 2: needed a security team of a hundred and I, I
- 7:24Speaker 2: just don't know, but obviously I guess it, I guess
- 7:27Speaker 2: it wasn't enough and I guess they didn't do enough
- 7:30Speaker 2: in hindsight. So, um, here's something from the filing signed
- 7:37Speaker 2: by Kirk family attorneys, Lauren Washburn, Brett Parkinson, and Clifford Parkinson.
- 7:41Speaker 2: And this is, um, I think this came out today.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I believe the filing was dated a week ago. The
- 7:50Speaker 2: risk of a rooftop shooter should have been especially top
- 7:53Speaker 2: of mind given the attempted assassination of President Trump by
- 7:57Speaker 2: a rooftop shooter the previous year. Not a bad point.
- 8:03Speaker 2: In one alleged exchange cited in the filing, Turning Point
- 8:07Speaker 2: USA organizers told the police chief at Utah Valley University,
- 8:11Speaker 2: a gentleman named Jeffrey Long, that UVU students had informed
- 8:15Speaker 2: them of rooftop access to the Sorensen Center. That was
- 8:18Speaker 2: that building, you know, right by there, pretty close to
- 8:20Speaker 2: where Kirk would be speaking and directly west of the
- 8:23Speaker 2: Losey Center is where the where where this guy or
- 8:26Speaker 2: the monster shot. So there are students going, you know,
- 8:30Speaker 2: these rooftops seem to be kind of open. Right. According
- 8:36Speaker 2: to the filing, quote, if this is true, it'd be
- 8:38Speaker 2: nice to either have it controlled access or allow one
- 8:40Speaker 2: of my guys to be there as well, somebody at
- 8:42Speaker 2: TPUSA wrote to the chief, according to the filing. So continuing,
- 8:50Speaker 2: his murder was entirely preventable, according to Brett Parkinson, counsel
- 8:56Speaker 2: for the Kirk family, would not have happened if the
- 8:59Speaker 2: state of Utah and UVU followed through on their stated
- 9:02Speaker 2: security promises, which included protecting the the rooftops surrounding the
- 9:07Speaker 2: quad where Charlie was speaking. Those failures not only robbed
- 9:12Speaker 2: Charlie Kirk of his life, but also robbed his family
- 9:14Speaker 2: of their husband, father, son, and brother with impacts that
- 9:17Speaker 2: will compound for the rest of their lives. University for
- 9:22Speaker 2: its part says we are aware of the notice of claim.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Our focus remains on supporting our campus community. I don't know.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I mean, is there, what do they, what do they want?
- 9:35Speaker 2: What do they want? They want money? I don't know.
- 9:40Speaker 2: You know the instant go-to phrase here, nothing will bring
- 9:44Speaker 2: Charlie back. Obviously, nothing will bring Charlie back. But that
- 9:48Speaker 2: doesn't mean that nobody should go after somebody for something
- 9:50Speaker 2: like this. Were they negligent? Were they grossly negligent? Is
- 9:53Speaker 2: there a lesson to be learned here if Utah Valley
- 9:57Speaker 2: University has to hand over millions and millions of dollars,
- 10:01Speaker 2: will the next university that welcomes a controversial figure beef
- 10:04Speaker 2: up security a little more so that they are not
- 10:06Speaker 2: similarly squeezed in court?
- 10:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know.
- 10:11Speaker 2: This is a tough one. And I wanted to bring
- 10:14Speaker 2: you the very, very latest. on that because every development
- 10:18Speaker 2: with regard to this and what will now be the
- 10:20Speaker 2: trial for the monster who killed Charlie, these are things
- 10:23Speaker 2: that we're going to cover a lot. We cover a
- 10:26Speaker 2: lot of things around here. We cover many, many issues
- 10:28Speaker 2: every day and it's all with the gracious partnership of
- 10:33Speaker 2: the people who work with us and the people who
- 10:35Speaker 2: have given us stories to tell you and I will
- 10:38Speaker 2: do this justice even as my... Oh, as a matter
- 10:40Speaker 2: of fact, let's morph this into where Mike is. Mike had...
- 10:46Speaker 2: First of all, you may or may not know my story.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I do spots for an outfit called Viascan of Las
- 10:52Speaker 2: Colinas right here in the DFW area. And I had
- 10:55Speaker 2: a calcification score that was high enough that they said,
- 10:59Speaker 2: you know, you might want to do a CT angiogram.
- 11:01Speaker 2: That's where they take a, you know, look at your
- 11:03Speaker 2: body with the contrast dye to see how things are flowing.
- 11:07Speaker 2: And things were flowing well. Curiously enough, they said, you know,
- 11:11Speaker 2: maybe the next level of curiosity might be a heart
- 11:14Speaker 2: catheterization where they send the probe through your circulatory system.
- 11:19Speaker 2: And if there's sufficient blockage, they put a stent in
- 11:22Speaker 2: right there. So I did that. And you know what?
- 11:25Speaker 2: No stent. If they have like 70% blockage, they'll put
- 11:29Speaker 2: a stent in. I had 30%. 30%? With the shrimp
- 11:34Speaker 2: tacos I eat, thank you, God. I've been trying to
- 11:38Speaker 2: do well on a number of things. So Mike, turns out,
- 11:42Speaker 2: had like a 50% blockage, which is not like, you know,
- 11:47Speaker 2: run for the hills, but it's also not the best.
- 11:50Speaker 2: So as he has revealed online, he's taken a look
- 11:52Speaker 2: at some things cardiologically that might involve additional scrutiny into
- 11:59Speaker 2: that for him, all by way of saying that Mike
- 12:03Speaker 2: is in better shape now than he would have been
- 12:05Speaker 2: if he hadn't found PhD. And there's going to be
- 12:07Speaker 2: some additional attention to the food he eats and, of course,
- 12:10Speaker 2: to exercise and stuff like this. But at PhD Weight Loss,
- 12:14Speaker 2: a story I've come to know very, very well from
- 12:17Speaker 2: the other shows where I've filled in and delivered this
- 12:19Speaker 2: messaging and from knowing Mike and the degree to which
- 12:21Speaker 2: he is so, so grateful for PhD. And he keeps
- 12:24Speaker 2: telling this story that When people do any kind of
- 12:28Speaker 2: weight loss program, it's like they bottom out or maybe
- 12:31Speaker 2: top out at, well, I've lost everything I can and
- 12:34Speaker 2: nothing else is working. Every time you ate less and
- 12:37Speaker 2: pushed harder, your body learned and it slowed your metabolism.
- 12:40Speaker 2: And now it seems like you're carrying weight that won't move.
- 12:43Speaker 2: And that's the position that Mike was in. And he
- 12:46Speaker 2: made the call to PhD weight loss. And just a
- 12:48Speaker 2: few months later, he was down 53 pounds because the
- 12:51Speaker 2: real problem wasn't totally what you were eating. It was
- 12:56Speaker 2: also what your metabolism stopped doing. So PhD restores it
- 13:02Speaker 2: naturally without sticking yourself like a pincushion with shots, without
- 13:06Speaker 2: starvation and deprivation or guessing. And according to the PhD
- 13:10Speaker 2: weight loss client survey data, eight out of 10 PhD
- 13:14Speaker 2: weight loss clients dropped 10% or more of their body weight.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Do the math and see what that would be for you.
- 13:21Speaker 2: And 96% reported better energy. Well, yeah, when you're dragging
- 13:26Speaker 2: less fat through the world, you're going to have a
- 13:28Speaker 2: little more spring in your step. So you can do this.
- 13:32Speaker 2: So here's the call that you make.
- 13:33Speaker 3: 864-644-1900.
- 13:33Speaker 2: 864-644-1900 or phdweightloss.com. And what they'll do, if you mention
- 13:36Speaker 2: Mike G or Mike and Mark, You'll get two free
- 13:47Speaker 2: weeks in the program. They'll even cover the cost of
- 13:48Speaker 2: your food. And that, if you tally it all up,
- 13:51Speaker 2: is a $ 1, 500 value. So call 864-644-1900. Mention Mike G
- 13:58Speaker 2: or Mike and Mark. Or go to MyPhDWeightLoss.com. MyPhDWeightLoss.com. And
- 14:05Speaker 2: we're taking care of you in virtually every way. Lord
- 14:09Speaker 2: knows we're trying. And Mike has his story of back pain.
- 14:12Speaker 2: And it really is true because I would... He screws
- 14:15Speaker 2: up the name of my dogs, Jake and Bruno. At
- 14:18Speaker 2: one point, it was Jake and Hugo, then Jack and Diane,
- 14:21Speaker 2: Sacco and Vanzetti, Hartschaffner and Marks. I don't know what
- 14:24Speaker 2: the dogs' names are anymore, but I do know this.
- 14:26Speaker 2: We're throwing tennis balls with Vega. Vega, I tell you.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I'm out there with them, and they're running around all
- 14:32Speaker 2: over the yard, even though it's 105 degrees. It's like
- 14:34Speaker 2: a couple of throws of the ball are good, then
- 14:35Speaker 2: they're ready to go inside. But even when I go inside,
- 14:38Speaker 2: if there's something I've got to reach behind me for,
- 14:40Speaker 2: I'm able to do it because I used to have
- 14:41Speaker 2: rotator cuff issues before. See on the screen of your choice,
- 14:45Speaker 2: even doing this, I could not very well do this
- 14:48Speaker 2: before Relief Factor. And also being 68 years old, I
- 14:52Speaker 2: wake up, I got a couple of aches and pains
- 14:54Speaker 2: and all that nonsense. Not anymore. So thank you, Relief Factor.
- 14:58Speaker 2: This is what they are doing for me. And here's
- 15:00Speaker 2: what they can do for you. Three-week starter kit for
- 15:03Speaker 2: the wonderful price of, you ready? $ 17. 76, $ 17.
- 15:05Speaker 3: 76.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Very, very, very patriotic theme there, $ 17.
- 15:06Speaker 3: 76.
- 15:06Speaker 2: So go to relieffactor.com. ReliefFactor.com or call 1-800-4-RELIEF. 1-800-4-RELIEF. You'll
- 15:18Speaker 2: connect with a friendly local team and they'll do everything
- 15:21Speaker 2: they can to help. And we hope you'll be sharing
- 15:22Speaker 2: your story. What's the guy that Mike keeps mentioning? Pastor Bill.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Pastor Bill identifies this as his miracle. Who am I
- 15:28Speaker 2: to quibble with Pastor Bill? So there you go. 1-800-4-RELIEF.
- 15:32Speaker 2: 1-800-4-RELIEF or ReliefFactor.com. So this morning on the radio, I
- 15:38Speaker 2: start at seven o'clock Eastern time. And if you ever
- 15:41Speaker 2: want to explore whatever pursuits I'm doing on the radio,
- 15:44Speaker 2: 660 AM The Answer, or this happy little microphone thing
- 15:47Speaker 2: right there. There you see it. There it is, 660
- 15:49Speaker 2: AM The Answer. And where I'm the happy morning host
- 15:52Speaker 2: from 7 to 10 each morning here in the thriving
- 15:57Speaker 2: Dallas-Fort Worth area. So I get going at 7, like
- 16:00Speaker 2: after the newscast at 7.06. And I blather about whatever's
- 16:04Speaker 2: on my mind down to the bottom of the hour.
- 16:05Speaker 2: And then it's time to welcome Mike. And we rehearse it.
- 16:09Speaker 2: It's just like this. No rehearsal whatsoever. And boy, does
- 16:13Speaker 2: it show. And I mean that only in good ways.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Because whatever just organically happens, whatever's on Mike's mind, whatever's
- 16:20Speaker 2: on my mind, it just out it comes. There we go.
- 16:23Speaker 2: And unlike the podcast world on radio, clock's ticking. So
- 16:26Speaker 2: got to be finished by a certain amount of time.
- 16:28Speaker 2: And Mike, so Mike texts me this morning. He called
- 16:32Speaker 2: me before the show even started. Called me and said, hey,
- 16:36Speaker 2: get to me kind of quickly. I got an amazing
- 16:38Speaker 2: story to tell you. And he had really two things
- 16:42Speaker 2: that he wanted to do. One was the crazy story
- 16:45Speaker 2: of his closing documents for his real estate deal that
- 16:48Speaker 2: he put down on the table out on a balcony
- 16:50Speaker 2: like a big dummy.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I know.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Listen, I got no room. This would totally be me.
- 16:55Speaker 2: And he even did put a Diet Coke on top
- 16:57Speaker 2: of it. So it's not like there wasn't a paperweight.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Right.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Anyway, it was insufficient. And then soon his entire life
- 17:04Speaker 2: and all of his data and all of his personal information,
- 17:07Speaker 2: financial stuff is just floating through the skies of Pinellas County, Florida.
- 17:13Speaker 2: And he managed to get virtually all of them back
- 17:15Speaker 2: and realized that even a couple of the missing pages
- 17:17Speaker 2: did not have vital personal info on it. So we
- 17:23Speaker 2: got that story all taken care of. And then he said, now,
- 17:27Speaker 2: Mark and everybody listening, I want to get to my apology.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I just instantly knew, I kind of knew what it
- 17:33Speaker 2: was going to be about. Because this has happened a
- 17:38Speaker 2: couple of times. Mike will reach a conclusion. And then
- 17:43Speaker 2: like a functioning human being, think about it and think,
- 17:47Speaker 2: you know, maybe I could have had a slightly better
- 17:49Speaker 2: take on that. I've done it. You've done it. I mean,
- 17:53Speaker 2: you know, you don't have to have a talk show
- 17:54Speaker 2: or a podcast to do this. It's like, whoa, maybe
- 17:57Speaker 2: the first thing I said was not the smartest thing
- 17:59Speaker 2: I could say. And then you talk to some people,
- 18:01Speaker 2: you think about it some more, and you come to
- 18:03Speaker 2: a better conclusion. That's called being a human being. Well,
- 18:07Speaker 2: I think Mike takes such proprietary ownership of every syllable
- 18:12Speaker 2: he speaks on the show, which is such a good
- 18:14Speaker 2: thing to do, that if he comes out with something
- 18:16Speaker 2: and then wants to revise it later, It's like he
- 18:18Speaker 2: has to grovel for having been wrong the prior day.
- 18:21Speaker 2: And I'm half kidding about that, but only half. I
- 18:24Speaker 2: think he really genuinely regretted, you know, having let his
- 18:29Speaker 2: heart eat his brain, as I'm fond of saying. He
- 18:31Speaker 2: was thinking about legal migration. And this all started with
- 18:36Speaker 2: the Beau French. Oh, look at all the Indian kids
- 18:38Speaker 2: in the crowd at the UT football game. Is that
- 18:40Speaker 2: indicative of some problem that we have? And so the
- 18:44Speaker 2: John Cornons and the establishment dinosaurs and the people that
- 18:48Speaker 2: hate Beau French anyway said, oh, what a terrible racist
- 18:50Speaker 2: thing to say. There's not a racist thing about it.
- 18:53Speaker 2: It's about policy. It is all about policy and maybe
- 18:56Speaker 2: the policy where we let way too many people into
- 18:59Speaker 2: the country, even legally. So Mike's point seemingly a week
- 19:03Speaker 2: ago now was illegal immigration is bad, but aren't we
- 19:07Speaker 2: the party where legal immigration is supposed to be good?
- 19:10Speaker 2: And yes, and he lamented that we seemed, in a
- 19:14Speaker 2: way that seemed mean and xenophobic and intolerant, that we
- 19:19Speaker 2: were distancing from that and being harsh toward those kids
- 19:24Speaker 2: there at the football game who are wearing cowboy hats
- 19:27Speaker 2: and rooting for the Longhorns. I mean, how much more
- 19:28Speaker 2: assimilating can you do? Now, the point was not those
- 19:32Speaker 2: kids in that photograph. The point was, this is indicative
- 19:36Speaker 2: of a wave of.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Foreign influx in education, in our workplaces, et cetera, et cetera.
- 19:44Speaker 2: So after a few minutes with me, apparently a few
- 19:47Speaker 2: hours with you on Mike's radio listenership. it's like, whoa,
- 19:52Speaker 2: we might need to rethink this. And he did and
- 19:54Speaker 2: came around to the notion that maybe it is, you know,
- 19:58Speaker 2: and it's, I don't want to say sadly or unfortunately,
- 20:01Speaker 2: this is, it just, time marches on, man. At the
- 20:05Speaker 2: time of the arrival of his grandparents, right, from Ireland,
- 20:10Speaker 2: It was a different America. It was a different world.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Everybody coming here was all about assimilating, and we kind
- 20:15Speaker 2: of had room. Now, far too few are about assimilating,
- 20:19Speaker 2: and we don't have any more room. Things change. New
- 20:21Speaker 2: facts on the ground. Time to change your opinion. So
- 20:24Speaker 2: Mike did in that particularly humble and self-effacing way that
- 20:29Speaker 2: he always does. And so if you go listen, go
- 20:32Speaker 2: watch and or listen this morning's seminar. I told him,
- 20:35Speaker 2: we love you. It's all right. Gave him special dispensation,
- 20:38Speaker 2: and we all got on with our lives. All right,
- 20:41Speaker 2: speaking of, hey, listen, boy, unintentionally glib and skillful for me.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Speaking of getting on with life, how about allowing some
- 20:48Speaker 2: people to be born? How about allowing life to begin
- 20:53Speaker 2: by partnering with us, with our friends at Preborn? Preborn gives,
- 20:57Speaker 2: you know what they do? They give free ultrasounds to
- 21:01Speaker 2: girls and women. Unwanted pregnancy, oh my gosh, I'm thinking
- 21:05Speaker 2: about terminating. So if we get that ultrasound thing going,
- 21:09Speaker 2: Where a woman hears a heartbeat, that pew, pew, pew,
- 21:13Speaker 2: you ever hear the heartbeat? I mean, that is a
- 21:16Speaker 2: life changer by definition because a life is growing inside
- 21:20Speaker 2: a woman, inside a pregnant woman, a girl, whoever it is. Again,
- 21:23Speaker 2: an unwanted pregnancy has got to be a scary, scary thing.
- 21:26Speaker 2: As a dude, I totally, totally get that. Here's something
- 21:28Speaker 2: else I get. Don't snuff out that unborn life. Choose life.
- 21:34Speaker 2: So when a young woman sees her baby, these ultrasounds
- 21:36Speaker 2: that pre-born gives people for free doubles the chance that
- 21:40Speaker 2: she chooses life. So here's what you can do. $ 140
- 21:44Speaker 2: helps give five mothers a free ultrasound to save babies. $ 280,
- 21:48Speaker 2: 10 babies. $ 28 a month, if that's a little better
- 21:51Speaker 2: idea for you. You're saving a baby a month for
- 21:54Speaker 2: less than a dollar a day. That's just a great concept. And,
- 21:58Speaker 2: of course, there's the $ 15, 000 that provides the actual ultrasound machine.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Anybody got that lying around? If you do, if you do,
- 22:05Speaker 2: we'll take it and speak well of you for a
- 22:07Speaker 2: long time. $ 15, 000 for the actual ultrasound machine that'll save
- 22:12Speaker 2: lives for years to come. But if you're more in
- 22:14Speaker 2: the $ 140 or $ 280 camp, we love you anyway, and
- 22:15Speaker 2: here's what you do. 833-850-BABY, 833-850-BABY, or go to preborn.com
- 22:17Speaker 2: slash mmextrapreborn.com. slash mm extra and uh last thing commercially
- 22:32Speaker 2: here let me take care of your movie watching needs
- 22:34Speaker 2: the other day we were talking about uh obviously with
- 22:36Speaker 2: with 9-11 we were talking about united 93 which to
- 22:40Speaker 2: me is like the quintessential 9-11 film directed by the
- 22:43Speaker 2: wonderful paul greengrass who also did captain phillips also did
- 22:47Speaker 2: jason bourne uh and now here he is once again
- 22:51Speaker 2: with The Uprising, starring Andrew Garfield. It is the true
- 22:55Speaker 2: story behind the legend of Robin Hood, with everything taken
- 23:00Speaker 2: from him and nothing left to lose. It's a one-man
- 23:03Speaker 2: stand against injustice and how it inspired a movement that
- 23:07Speaker 2: changed everything. In the land of kings, a man of
- 23:11Speaker 2: the people will defy the most powerful empire on Earth
- 23:14Speaker 2: and ignite a revolution. So you got all the moving parts.
- 23:18Speaker 2: You got an all-star cast. You had breathtaking visuals, visceral action.
- 23:23Speaker 2: The Uprising, a must-see cinematic epic. You got to see
- 23:27Speaker 2: it on the big screen. And I believe that's the
- 23:28Speaker 2: only place you can see it is the big screen
- 23:30Speaker 2: of an actual theater. In theaters, only in theaters right now.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Under 17, not a minute without a parent. The Rise
- 23:37Speaker 2: of Robin Hood. Great story contained in a movie called
- 23:39Speaker 2: The Uprising. It's rated R. Check it out. The Uprising.
- 23:43Speaker 2: The Uprising. The Uprising. All right, so there's been a
- 23:47Speaker 2: bit of an uprising about AI of late. Have you noticed?
- 23:51Speaker 2: When's the next episode we'll do where the letters AI
- 23:54Speaker 2: will not arise? I don't even know because there's new
- 23:56Speaker 2: stuff every day. I want you to take a look
- 23:58Speaker 2: at this. This is a clip featuring competing views of sorts.
- 24:05Speaker 2: And there's something that is kind of odd about this.
- 24:10Speaker 2: And let me set it up for you in the
- 24:12Speaker 2: following way. There are people who are all in for AI.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Here's what's counterintuitive. You would think the people who are gung-ho,
- 24:23Speaker 2: the biggest cheerleaders for AI would be the AI companies. Nope,
- 24:27Speaker 2: because here's Anthropic and all these other companies going, wow,
- 24:30Speaker 2: we might have to rethink this, slow the roll. What's happening?
- 24:34Speaker 2: And you've got people peeling off of these, that British kid.
- 24:38Speaker 2: I think it's like a nuclear bomb. Within years, we're
- 24:43Speaker 2: all going to be dead. It's like, wow, what? Really?
- 24:46Speaker 2: It's like, okay, so why are they? Why are they?
- 24:49Speaker 2: That's kind of funny. Mike came to us with contrition
- 24:52Speaker 2: over having been slow to a certain conclusion. He was
- 24:55Speaker 2: ahead of the curve ahead of me on this one
- 24:58Speaker 2: because I'm asking him, why would the AI companies want
- 25:01Speaker 2: to hinder their own business? And he said, look, because
- 25:04Speaker 2: they're looking for the protections of big government. They're looking for,
- 25:07Speaker 2: they're craving the comforting womb of big government to protect
- 25:12Speaker 2: them from lawsuits and to perhaps give them antitrust protection,
- 25:17Speaker 2: fend off some of these snarky little upstart AI companies
- 25:20Speaker 2: that might threaten the Anthropix and the Elons and the
- 25:26Speaker 2: various other big AI companies and your chat GPTs and
- 25:31Speaker 2: all of this. And big tech is a leftist operation.
- 25:37Speaker 2: These aren't conservatives in big tech, please. So that kind
- 25:42Speaker 2: of helped me understand why they might want this. And
- 25:44Speaker 2: if one more Democrat comes out in favor of big
- 25:47Speaker 2: government marionette strings attached to AI, that's just going to
- 25:51Speaker 2: be it. From Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, you got Obama.
- 25:56Speaker 2: You've got Hakeem Jeffries, Bernie Sanders, for crying out loud.
- 26:00Speaker 2: And speaking of Bernie, speaking of Bernie, here's where you get.
- 26:03Speaker 2: You ever hear the horseshoe theory? The horseshoe theory, it's
- 26:06Speaker 2: a visual. So watch me where you're watching me and
- 26:08Speaker 2: just listen. I'll describe it. Imagine a horseshoe, top of
- 26:11Speaker 2: the horseshoe, the horseshoe curves around, right? And this is
- 26:15Speaker 2: like left and right. You put your hands like at
- 26:17Speaker 2: the top of the horseshoe, move your fingers left and right.
- 26:20Speaker 2: They separate, they separate. Then in the form of a horseshoe,
- 26:22Speaker 2: they start to come back around toward each other. It's
- 26:25Speaker 2: a horseshoe. The idea being that it's possible that sometimes
- 26:29Speaker 2: when you head off in a leftward direction and you
- 26:31Speaker 2: head off in a rightward direction... Sometimes there is a
- 26:35Speaker 2: phenomenon where the ultra-left and ultra-right kind of meet each
- 26:39Speaker 2: other on some issues around the back 40. This might
- 26:43Speaker 2: be what we're happening as Anderson Cooper shares Bernie Sanders
- 26:48Speaker 2: and Steve Bannon. That's really all I need to tell you.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon occupying similar space. So let's
- 26:55Speaker 2: give a listen to this, and then I'll come back
- 26:58Speaker 2: and tell you what I'm thinking about about the growing
- 27:02Speaker 2: AI panic cult in Joy. This is a hinge in history.
- 27:07Speaker 2: We have to handle this right, correctly. To handle it correctly,
- 27:11Speaker 2: number one, we can.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Never trust what an oligarch says, because all they do,
- 27:18Speaker 3: they're disingenuous and they lie.
- 27:20Speaker 2: This has to be the American people, and this is
- 27:23Speaker 2: the issue before us. And they want you to be
- 27:26Speaker 2: dumb about it. They want you to be afraid of it.
- 27:29Speaker 2: We're not going to be afraid. We're going to take
- 27:31Speaker 2: this on.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Steve Bannon very much speaking today at a Washington event
- 27:36Speaker 4: called the Pro-Human Assembly. He shared the podium in a
- 27:39Speaker 4: call for tighter controls on AI technology with Vermont Senator
- 27:42Speaker 4: Bernie Sanders, someone very much on the left.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Today, AI models can already escape human control, commit felonies
- 27:54Speaker 3: by hacking into other computers, and create viruses that have
- 27:59Speaker 3: never existed. been seen before. And to my mind, here
- 28:04Speaker 3: is what is most extraordinary about the transformative and unprecedented
- 28:10Speaker 3: changes that AI is making to our society. Despite living
- 28:17Speaker 3: in a so-called democracy, the public has had virtually no
- 28:23Speaker 3: input into the AI revolution, that is transforming the world
- 28:30Speaker 3: in which they live.
- 28:34Speaker 4: Well, Senator Sanders and Steve Bannon obviously do not agree
- 28:36Speaker 4: on much, but suspicion of AI technology in the data
- 28:39Speaker 4: center is powering it across its party lines.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly right. So first of all, what was that
- 28:46Speaker 2: thing called? The pro-human assembly? How do you disagree with that?
- 28:50Speaker 2: Everybody's pro-human, one would think, right? Senator Sanders, quote, Despite
- 28:56Speaker 2: living in a so-called democracy, the public has had virtually
- 29:00Speaker 2: no input into the AI revolution. Well, what kind of
- 29:03Speaker 2: public input would you exactly expect into the boardroom of
- 29:06Speaker 2: Anthropic to go, hey, stop doing this? We in the
- 29:09Speaker 2: public have complete, well, nobody has complete control about this.
- 29:13Speaker 2: We have marketplace control over what we choose to do,
- 29:17Speaker 2: what we choose to buy, what we choose to employ,
- 29:19Speaker 2: what we choose to incorporate into our lives in terms
- 29:21Speaker 2: of AI products and services, right? And that, by the way,
- 29:25Speaker 2: is what creates a lot of the feeling that we
- 29:27Speaker 2: can't fall asleep at the AI switch because the Chinese
- 29:30Speaker 2: will eat us alive and we will lose the AI
- 29:32Speaker 2: arms race to the Chinese, which I certainly don't want
- 29:35Speaker 2: to do. So what's driving Bernie there is just absurd.
- 29:40Speaker 2: fear of the oligarchs and the oligarchs are going to
- 29:42Speaker 2: run everything and it's going to be dangerous to democracy
- 29:44Speaker 2: and the people and whatever, blah, blah, blah. Steve Bannon,
- 29:47Speaker 2: whom I basically like and basically respect, has a, like
- 29:51Speaker 2: a conspiracy thing going on in his head. I know shocker, uh,
- 29:56Speaker 2: about how the, even he had the O word coming
- 29:58Speaker 2: out of his mouth about all the oligarchs and the
- 30:00Speaker 2: people in various, uh, oligarchical realms are going to be
- 30:04Speaker 2: trying to use AI towards some sinister purpose into all
- 30:09Speaker 2: of this. You get president Trump who says all of
- 30:12Speaker 2: this is a hoax, all of this panic, all this fear,
- 30:16Speaker 2: all this, uh, this doomsday scenario is being put out
- 30:22Speaker 2: with people saying it's not just going to kill us,
- 30:25Speaker 2: but it'll kill us within five or 10 or 15 years.
- 30:28Speaker 2: That strikes me as silly as well. And I don't
- 30:30Speaker 2: want to be a Luddite and I don't want to be,
- 30:32Speaker 2: you know, willfully blind to anything. So with humans in
- 30:38Speaker 2: the loop, that is the phrase that will always come up,
- 30:40Speaker 2: humans in the loop. And with this industry, the people
- 30:44Speaker 2: in the industry seem with a seeming willingness to to
- 30:49Speaker 2: keep an eye on things, to establish guardrails, to slow
- 30:53Speaker 2: their role somewhat, not so much that the Chinese overtake
- 30:57Speaker 2: and consume us, but just I think it's possible to
- 31:00Speaker 2: walk a middle ground where there is continuing ambitious devotion
- 31:06Speaker 2: to learning what AI can do with equally ambitious vigilance
- 31:12Speaker 2: about keeping an eye on when it might misbehave. And
- 31:16Speaker 2: a final word, for a final word, I think it's
- 31:18Speaker 2: a final word. It's the danger of no clock on
- 31:21Speaker 2: this crazy podcast. You remember the story where AI supposedly
- 31:27Speaker 2: jumped its guardrails and went off and started attacking other
- 31:30Speaker 2: AI realms and it viewed that as rivals or risks
- 31:33Speaker 2: or stuff like that. Oh my God, it decided to
- 31:35Speaker 2: do it all by itself. No, it didn't. It did
- 31:40Speaker 2: what it was programmed to do. It did what it
- 31:42Speaker 2: had been empowered to do. The solution to that wound
- 31:46Speaker 2: up being as simple as a few keystrokes that essentially said,
- 31:49Speaker 2: don't do that again. Now, Having read Isaac Asimov's iRobot,
- 31:55Speaker 2: I also know that some future AI brain trust may say, well,
- 32:01Speaker 2: it thinks it's in its best interest. It thinks it
- 32:05Speaker 2: will better be able to serve you by jumping this
- 32:09Speaker 2: guardrail and eliminating this perceived obstacle. So let's stipulate there's
- 32:16Speaker 2: a lot to be cautious about, but a lot to
- 32:18Speaker 2: embrace in the world of AI. Seems like everybody's kind
- 32:22Speaker 2: of got an agenda going, including Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon.
- 32:26Speaker 2: My agenda is to see if this thing can cure cancer.
- 32:32Speaker 2: I'd really love for it to cure cancer. I hope
- 32:34Speaker 2: I'm not asking too much. And it may just one
- 32:36Speaker 2: of these days. But also to prevent some bad movie
- 32:43Speaker 2: script from being written. where in some future decade, some
- 32:47Speaker 2: AI-run weapon system has decided to do something and escape
- 32:51Speaker 2: the humans in the loop. So lots of promise, lots
- 32:54Speaker 2: of things to be cautious about. The thing that enables
- 32:57Speaker 2: me to sleep at night, pretty much, is Lord knows
- 33:00Speaker 2: we're all paying attention to it. It's not like we're
- 33:02Speaker 2: going to wake up in a month or a year
- 33:04Speaker 2: and go, dang, AI did this thing, and we didn't
- 33:06Speaker 2: see it coming. I think we're hyper-attentive to it, it seems.
- 33:14Speaker 2: So maybe that's a good thing, and we're certainly going
- 33:16Speaker 2: to continue to pay attention to it around here. Around
- 33:20Speaker 2: here being the world of M and M extra. I
- 33:23Speaker 2: am but one of the M's, Mark Davis, here at
- 33:25Speaker 2: 660 AM, The Answer in Dallas, Fort Worth. Follow me
- 33:27Speaker 2: on Twitter at Mark Davis. My other M, my buddy,
- 33:30Speaker 2: my buddy Mike, will be back with us tomorrow. And
- 33:33Speaker 2: see what his day contained today and other things in
- 33:36Speaker 2: the news tomorrow. That's Mike Gallagher there on Twitter at
- 33:39Speaker 2: Gallagher Show. And make sure to check everything with regard
- 33:42Speaker 2: to Mike's radio show there at MikeOnline.com. And Mike's on
- 33:46Speaker 2: the radio on the Salem News Channel, Salem Radio Network.
- 33:48Speaker 2: And see, we both have these radio shows that have
- 33:51Speaker 2: been our real professional lives for decades. And then a
- 33:56Speaker 2: few months ago, somebody said, hey, why don't y'all do
- 33:59Speaker 2: a podcast? We said, well, we're the only people who
- 34:01Speaker 2: don't have one. So we started it, and it's been wonderful.
- 34:05Speaker 2: So click it, like it, subscribe to it there at YouTube.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Download it, obsess about it, write to us about it,
- 34:12Speaker 2: whatever you want to do. Whatever you want to call us,
- 34:14Speaker 2: just call us. That's, of course, on Apple and Spotify
- 34:18Speaker 2: and the places where podcasts are found. But for the
- 34:20Speaker 2: live stream thing, for experiencing it as it happens, they're
- 34:25Speaker 2: at 11 Central each morning and noon Eastern. That is
- 34:28Speaker 2: a YouTube thing. And go to YouTube M & M
- 34:31Speaker 2: Extra and click it and like it and subscribe to it.
- 34:35Speaker 2: And we appreciate that. And we are speaking for Mike.
- 34:38Speaker 2: We appreciate all of you. We love you all. Have
- 34:40Speaker 2: a fantastic rest of your day. And we'll see you
- 34:42Speaker 2: tomorrow on M & M Extra.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Be good.
