- 1:31Speaker 2: I do not believe this.
- 1:33Speaker 4: I can't believe this.
- 1:34Speaker 3: We are so close to the premiere of our brand
- 1:37Speaker 3: musical exciting. I can't sleep anymore. I mean, I had
- 1:40Speaker 3: a good night's rest and I don't know years.
- 1:42Speaker 5: I know it is. It is impossible to sleep thinking
- 1:46Speaker 5: that the world might soon see our little baby, our
- 1:50Speaker 5: little baby Captain hooked.
- 1:52Speaker 7: I feel jubilant. I feel jubilant. I feel joyous. My
- 1:57Speaker 7: lovely wife and I have built an incredible show.
- 2:00Speaker 5: I can't believe it. I can't believe it. I'm so excited.
- 2:03Speaker 5: This is the most exciting thing that's happened to us
- 2:06Speaker 5: in here.
- 2:07Speaker 2: It's really revitalized.
- 2:08Speaker 5: It's really revitalized.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Everything that's amazing, And dare I sage everything? I think
- 2:13Speaker 4: the cast is ready.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I do you think they're ready? Yeah, I would say so.
- 2:17Speaker 3: I know we're being ruthless to them, so they really
- 2:19Speaker 3: feel the pressure, But I think they're ready.
- 2:21Speaker 5: No, And judging by these goose bumps I have on
- 2:24Speaker 5: my arm, I think I think we got a good
- 2:26Speaker 5: one on our hand. I think we got something.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Why don't we go around and introduce ourselves if you
- 2:31Speaker 1: guys would like that, You guys want to start, because
- 2:33Speaker 1: you guys are married, married.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Married married first first, that's what we say when we
- 2:39Speaker 5: board the bus. Yes, very first.
- 2:42Speaker 2: First, give us the seat by the window.
- 2:44Speaker 5: By the window, because we're married.
- 2:45Speaker 2: We're kind of married a couple that is two aisles
- 2:47Speaker 2: on it on an airplane. Oh, two aisles, so that
- 2:49Speaker 2: we can straddle.
- 2:50Speaker 5: And we can hold hands and hold hands across the
- 2:52Speaker 5: aisle over.
- 2:59Speaker 4: That's a good musical.
- 3:04Speaker 6: It's already written.
- 3:06Speaker 2: My name is Grover Coffee.
- 3:08Speaker 5: And I am Linda Coffee. And we live in a
- 3:13Speaker 5: little red house in Massachusetts, don't we write?
- 3:15Speaker 7: We do in eastern Massachusetts, by if switch. We are
- 3:20Speaker 7: the book and lyrics writer. You're you're the scribe. You're
- 3:25Speaker 7: the one and I and I'm the one who dances
- 3:27Speaker 7: between worlds.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Yes, yes, you sort of. It's it's almost like you
- 3:31Speaker 5: are a seer for both sides. You have this mystical
- 3:35Speaker 5: ability to see the book and the lyrics, the music
- 3:39Speaker 5: and the words. Everything flows within you. Grover, and I'm
- 3:44Speaker 5: so happy to be married to you.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Happy age.
- 3:47Speaker 5: And someday we're going to get rings. Okay, this musical
- 3:52Speaker 5: goes well, we're gonna get rings.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I'm gonna let them know.
- 3:54Speaker 7: We're gonna get rings at the store because I'm so excited.
- 3:58Speaker 7: You are the other half, by the way of our team.
- 4:01Speaker 7: Because book, lyrics, music music. My name is David Cream.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I we're the coffee Coffee and.
- 4:08Speaker 6: Cream My name's David Cream. I just graduated USC. This
- 4:13Speaker 6: is my first professional musical, but I'm really glad to
- 4:16Speaker 6: be here. I was brought on by the Coffees and
- 4:19Speaker 6: creamed Cream.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Cream is an incredible guy.
- 4:21Speaker 7: We met him in an action theater workshop in the
- 4:26Speaker 7: Berkshires and we we we had this incredible experience out there. Yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 7: we were doing this incredible movement on the Solstice.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yes, you and I. Yes, we kind of stumbled into
- 4:37Speaker 2: mister Cream.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Here, we stumbled into mister Cream. We were all laying
- 4:41Speaker 5: out our wishes. We were laying out our wishes for
- 4:45Speaker 5: the winter song, you know, Young Cream into our door
- 4:50Speaker 5: and we were laying out our thirteen wishes for on
- 4:52Speaker 5: the on the night of the Winter Solstice. That's what
- 4:54Speaker 5: you do. That's what we've always done. My family's German
- 4:56Speaker 5: and so that's been passed down for literally centuries. It's
- 4:59Speaker 5: a German in things, it's a German thing. And one
- 5:03Speaker 5: of my wishes that I'm not supposed to you're not
- 5:05Speaker 5: supposed to say your wish. But this was, of course
- 5:06Speaker 5: years ago, and so I can my final wish that
- 5:09Speaker 5: I was left with after I had burned the others
- 5:11Speaker 5: on the nights of the solstice as you do. The
- 5:14Speaker 5: one that you're left with was I want to meet
- 5:17Speaker 5: someone cool. And I think that God sort of gave
- 5:22Speaker 5: that to you, mister creed Well.
- 5:26Speaker 7: And I think it was serendipitous because while you were
- 5:28Speaker 7: burning your wishes, I was in the sound and movement
- 5:31Speaker 7: room where you are given a sound and that's the
- 5:34Speaker 7: only sound you can make, and it was it's this
- 5:37Speaker 7: encounter room where you're kind of meeting and it's my
- 5:40Speaker 7: sound was eh, and I was walking around and we
- 5:43Speaker 7: had this kind of mirror.
- 5:44Speaker 6: It was amazing because you because yours again was it
- 5:47Speaker 6: was yours was and mine was.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Yeah, And so I was going, that sounds amazing.
- 5:54Speaker 5: They did this for hours. They did this for hours.
- 5:57Speaker 5: They did this for hours.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Nothing nothing. We just love you guys' chemistry.
- 6:01Speaker 4: We let them go.
- 6:02Speaker 5: We just watched them, and we love our chemistry. You three.
- 6:05Speaker 2: We love the three of yours chemistry.
- 6:07Speaker 5: Oh okay, yeah, well we're married.
- 6:11Speaker 6: Yeah, so happy to be here.
- 6:13Speaker 3: David, David, Yeah, I forget first names, but David, ever
- 6:18Speaker 3: since you came on to the team, you are so
- 6:20Speaker 3: young yet so just it feels old with wisdom.
- 6:24Speaker 1: You feel like you just have your ability to write
- 6:27Speaker 1: notes in music is something I personally, as the financier,
- 6:31Speaker 1: could never understand.
- 6:33Speaker 2: We were both financiers.
- 6:34Speaker 1: But we did a promise that we're going to fund
- 6:37Speaker 1: this for you guys if we got to write the
- 6:39Speaker 1: music and do the choreography and direct it and you And.
- 6:42Speaker 5: This was our Solstice promise to you.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Yes, And I mean I saw you at the Jimmies.
- 6:47Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, you saw that.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I did.
- 6:49Speaker 4: And I remember were you live.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I was live.
- 6:53Speaker 3: I usually I usually sit in the booth. Oh gosh, Yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 3: usually sit in the booth. And I remember being like,
- 6:59Speaker 3: we gotta pay that boy. Yes, and we got to
- 7:02Speaker 3: hook came up with the.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Call because you guys, because you guys had met already
- 7:05Speaker 1: and you had already floated this idea of this genius,
- 7:08Speaker 1: new original idea.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Never before seen, an untold story.
- 7:14Speaker 1: And you guys said, we have half of the money,
- 7:17Speaker 1: we need the other half. And so we sat down.
- 7:19Speaker 1: We put our brains together. We're brother sister, We put
- 7:23Speaker 1: our brains together, just like brothers and sisters do like this.
- 7:26Speaker 7: Yeah, wow, your lips are a little closer to hers
- 7:29Speaker 7: than he thought.
- 7:30Speaker 2: It was going to be mutual.
- 7:33Speaker 5: It was heads.
- 7:34Speaker 2: It was heads. It's close enough, you.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Know, financier people.
- 7:37Speaker 1: So we all got together and we said, we'll help you,
- 7:39Speaker 1: but we want a chance at the music, in the
- 7:43Speaker 1: choreography and direction show if you'll let us take a
- 7:45Speaker 1: little bit of the direction.
- 7:46Speaker 6: I found it to be really helpful to sort of
- 7:48Speaker 6: have you guys kind of helping me as I went
- 7:50Speaker 6: through the process. It was really useful to have fingers
- 7:52Speaker 6: on fingers.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, well because I loved a lot of
- 7:55Speaker 1: your choices, but I also disagreed with them, and I
- 7:56Speaker 1: needed to show you how I disagree with them by
- 7:59Speaker 1: touching your PM.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:00Speaker 3: And I want to say this to you right now, David,
- 8:03Speaker 3: you always have a place in our home. During the
- 8:06Speaker 3: songwriting process of this, you staying in our mudroom was
- 8:10Speaker 3: the highlight.
- 8:10Speaker 2: With absolute highlight, because we.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Do yes and you just I don't know.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I remember we were like, Okay, we have the other
- 8:19Speaker 3: half of the money they need. We can't pay for
- 8:22Speaker 3: accommodations for everyone to write this, right yea, So we
- 8:26Speaker 3: we put you in our mudroom, and I just loved it.
- 8:28Speaker 7: You guys are being modest. Okay, you see mudroom and
- 8:31Speaker 7: it sounds like it's this little thing. It's mudroom as
- 8:33Speaker 7: in Korean spa mudroom, yeah, a hot room, yes, full
- 8:36Speaker 7: of mud on the ground.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And we have workers there all the time, full hired staff.
- 8:40Speaker 7: It's awesome. Yeah, I mean it's so nice. We used
- 8:42Speaker 7: to work in there too. It's hot, you know, and
- 8:44Speaker 7: it's warm.
- 8:44Speaker 5: It's warm. Been there, And there's there's a period of
- 8:48Speaker 5: a sort of psychological transcendence that happens after our eighteen
- 8:53Speaker 5: in the mudroom, where you cannot see anymore, you can't
- 8:56Speaker 5: think anymore, and then all of a sudden, it just
- 8:59Speaker 5: flows through you. And that's when the inspiration for the
- 9:05Speaker 5: big closer of actors.
- 9:06Speaker 6: Really the genius of these two is, is housing me
- 9:08Speaker 6: in a space like that meant that I I sort
- 9:10Speaker 6: of spent those eighteen hours in my sleep, so I
- 9:13Speaker 6: woke up with the ideas. Yes, I had that transcendental
- 9:17Speaker 6: moment in the night.
- 9:20Speaker 3: When I saw Hamilton, I was like, who housed Lynn?
- 9:23Speaker 3: While he was writing this?
- 9:24Speaker 8: Was?
- 9:25Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 9:25Speaker 3: I know, But sometimes I think there's something about trapping
- 9:28Speaker 3: an artist as a financier.
- 9:29Speaker 4: It's fun.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I mean, the door, it's how we've written most of
- 9:32Speaker 1: our original musicals. We want the we love the idea
- 9:35Speaker 1: the artist is not going to do anything unless you
- 9:37Speaker 1: lock them in a hot room and like just like.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Because I mean, that's that's a conservatory.
- 9:41Speaker 2: We told you our names. No, come on, my sister.
- 9:45Speaker 4: My brother has such a heart for choreo.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And I just want to say, maybe we might.
- 9:50Speaker 4: We may be financiers, but we also are artist is.
- 9:54Speaker 7: Well so and that's what's so fun about you, guys's financiers,
- 9:56Speaker 7: that you told us you were all these types of
- 9:58Speaker 7: artists after you signed on to be financiers.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Yes.
- 10:00Speaker 9: Yes, we always say I should have read the contract.
- 10:04Speaker 5: Yeah, almost. Some would say a bait and switch.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I wouldn't.
- 10:10Speaker 4: I'm married, but amazing nothing baits are switches.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Married people bates a switch.
- 10:15Speaker 5: You can see through it all.
- 10:17Speaker 3: My name is Moon Scott and I am the director
- 10:20Speaker 3: of Hooked as well as half Finance here. I used
- 10:23Speaker 3: to direct the summer program at the MUNI and I
- 10:25Speaker 3: got fired and ever since then, I've decided to take
- 10:29Speaker 3: life into my own hands.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Yes, and I am direct. I am Son Scott, her
- 10:34Speaker 2: famed brother. I am.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I love dancing, I love music and I love writing songs.
- 10:40Speaker 1: So uh, and I'm also half of the finance here.
- 10:42Speaker 1: So our dad was a billionaire who did a lot
- 10:46Speaker 1: of bad things in the Middle East, but he is
- 10:50Speaker 1: now dead, so it's all good, and we have all
- 10:53Speaker 1: his money and we're just looking for fun things to
- 10:55Speaker 1: invest in.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I mean, I know, set talking about this amongst this
- 10:59Speaker 3: crew is gonna in a can of worms that we
- 11:00Speaker 3: shouldn't because we're talking about hooked.
- 11:02Speaker 4: But we're sick of Broadway.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Right now, so sick.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Right, it's all the same, It all feels the exact
- 11:11Speaker 1: same time.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Look at the younger generation. They're tired.
- 11:14Speaker 2: We're tired.
- 11:14Speaker 1: We're tired.
- 11:15Speaker 2: We are tired.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Well, well, he's tired, and we're also we're tired in
- 11:20Speaker 5: a different way. Well, we're tired in a different way.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Where we were young.
- 11:24Speaker 5: We're Gen X, we're tired.
- 11:25Speaker 4: We're tired.
- 11:27Speaker 5: We're tired like our bones.
- 11:28Speaker 7: My uncle is the last person to ever live in
- 11:31Speaker 7: an iron lung. Compared to him, we're young.
- 11:33Speaker 5: That's true.
- 11:35Speaker 3: It's not a movie that you've seen before, right, I'm
- 11:38Speaker 3: just so sick of going to Broadway and seeing movies.
- 11:40Speaker 10: Odd scene, I'm so tired of going to Broadway and
- 11:44Speaker 10: seeing movies.
- 11:45Speaker 2: It's awful. It's an awful thing.
- 11:46Speaker 1: So we wanted to present a completely original idea that
- 11:50Speaker 1: we loved you working on. And maybe we can actually
- 11:53Speaker 1: just jump in and give him a little sneak.
- 11:55Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, Do we want to start at the start,
- 11:58Speaker 6: at the beginning.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Opening, Yeah, the opening story short, the.
- 12:02Speaker 7: Play ends, the musical ends with Peter Pana riving.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Okay, and that's how you know.
- 12:07Speaker 7: So everything up until then is the story you've never
- 12:09Speaker 7: even seen, not even in Peter in the Starcatcher, which
- 12:11Speaker 7: also covers this.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Yes, that play.
- 12:14Speaker 7: It's fantastic, but it's not this, and I'll tell you
- 12:16Speaker 7: what it is. It's a very different.
- 12:18Speaker 5: Show, very different show, very different.
- 12:21Speaker 7: And we did a modern update, so Neverland is a
- 12:24Speaker 7: completely different place.
- 12:25Speaker 2: And and we start with Hook as a boy.
- 12:27Speaker 1: It Neverland feels like san Diego.
- 12:30Speaker 5: Doesn't this sound like.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Hook as a boy?
- 12:34Speaker 5: This Hook as a boy san Diego looking out at
- 12:38Speaker 5: the ocean with his surfboard, and he sees all those
- 12:42Speaker 5: people on on the on the shoreline, and they're they're
- 12:45Speaker 5: going to U see s.
- 12:46Speaker 2: D he might notice he has two hands, and all of.
- 12:50Speaker 5: His friends they're going to become doctors. They're going to
- 12:53Speaker 5: major in stem because that's what you see SD is
- 12:56Speaker 5: known for, but he isn't going to because he wants
- 13:00Speaker 5: to be a poet.
- 13:04Speaker 11: I got all ten fingers in all my dreams, I
- 13:10Speaker 11: got everything I ever could wish for. Take a little
- 13:17Speaker 11: gander off this cliff and see.
- 13:22Speaker 2: You can find what you wish if you have all.
- 13:25Speaker 8: Ten fingers, all ten fingers. That's all you need is
- 13:33Speaker 8: all ten fingers, and you're fine.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Richard, come down from there, Richard. We need you at
- 13:40Speaker 2: the farm.
- 13:41Speaker 5: What I don't wanna I want to go to school. Richard.
- 13:46Speaker 2: We need you.
- 13:47Speaker 7: We need you at the farm. Come down there with
- 13:50Speaker 7: your friends. Captain Hook, bring him down to what I.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Love about our musical.
- 13:57Speaker 4: He's a captain from He's a captain.
- 13:59Speaker 2: From the Little Boy. He be a poet San Diego.
- 14:04Speaker 1: He has all his aids, but he's known as Captain Hook.
- 14:07Speaker 2: He's a countain from.
- 14:08Speaker 5: The beginning because he was as part of his lore,
- 14:11Speaker 5: he was captain of his chest.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Let's talk about who Richard is, so.
- 14:17Speaker 6: Let's really excited about Richard.
- 14:20Speaker 7: Later, Richard goes through an incredible transformation to become Smee.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Smee.
- 14:26Speaker 5: Actually the last line of the entire show, he goes
- 14:30Speaker 5: you know what, call me Smee, and then the lights
- 14:35Speaker 5: go down.
- 14:35Speaker 2: He's the village.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Yeah, like he's the biggest villain in the Peter Bang.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Can I show them?
- 14:41Speaker 6: Yes?
- 14:42Speaker 2: Got it? We got taken by me.
- 14:45Speaker 5: We all got carried away by Richards, taken away by
- 14:52Speaker 5: Sometimes you start writing something, think it is about one thing.
- 14:56Speaker 5: You are blown away in our seventeen in the mid
- 15:00Speaker 5: room by someone so compelling, so magnetic, so entrancing and
- 15:06Speaker 5: giving and magnanimous.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Look at this.
- 15:09Speaker 4: I remember, I'm making my eggs a flance.
- 15:11Speaker 3: And I hear, as you do every morning, and I hear,
- 15:14Speaker 3: I hear below in my mudroom, I hear a sound,
- 15:16Speaker 3: and I go, you're kidding?
- 15:17Speaker 4: Is that this?
- 15:18Speaker 3: Did he wake up this morning? Did Cream wake up
- 15:20Speaker 3: this morning and find the sound of Smee?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 15:24Speaker 5: Cream woke up one morning and oh here it is me.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Okay, well jump ahead.
- 15:28Speaker 1: This is Sneaks, one of the big Sneak songs we're
- 15:30Speaker 1: so excited to present. This is when Speed Richard really
- 15:34Speaker 1: dealing with himself, either choosing to go into a law
- 15:37Speaker 1: firm or get on a ship.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Yeah it's Smee.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I'm Smeee. It's me. I'm Smee.
- 15:44Speaker 6: You can't look at me.
- 15:45Speaker 2: I'm Smee.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Yes.
- 15:47Speaker 12: Nobody takes me seriously, but you will because I am
- 15:51Speaker 12: Sway I'm see yes.
- 15:54Speaker 3: And during this part we have we're doing a lot
- 15:56Speaker 3: of projection, a lot law books are going back behind it.
- 16:01Speaker 5: It's everything that Smee wishes he could be and everything
- 16:04Speaker 5: that he isn't. It's Smee's favorite color, it's Smee's parents,
- 16:09Speaker 5: it's me. His blood spills across the stage.
- 16:15Speaker 12: So many choices of who I could be, who I
- 16:18Speaker 12: could be, but I want to.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Be Richard, Richard, what are you doing?
- 16:24Speaker 1: Okay, let's just stop for a second. The annoying mom
- 16:29Speaker 1: by the incredible Carolee Carmelo. I can't believe.
- 16:33Speaker 6: It's so wide you could drive a truck through it.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Whoa, that's iron No, it's heard by bron So.
- 16:40Speaker 1: His mom is always holding him back and always trying
- 16:44Speaker 1: to call we do this nice Jrope.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I hope you guys don't notice it.
- 16:47Speaker 1: But every song usually ends with somebody calling somebody out
- 16:50Speaker 1: of the song back into reality, and we used Smee's
- 16:53Speaker 1: mom to do that eighty percent of the time.
- 16:55Speaker 7: You know, I'll kind of break that down. We were
- 16:58Speaker 7: inspired to add that after all the times my wife
- 17:02Speaker 7: yells at me from the other room about something.
- 17:04Speaker 5: You are bad, and it's something that.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Yelling at me from the other room.
- 17:09Speaker 5: When I think about our relationship, it makes me want
- 17:11Speaker 5: to cry because there's just something so beautiful about you
- 17:16Speaker 5: being in the other room, about you being in the
- 17:18Speaker 5: other room, and I have something to tell you, but
- 17:20Speaker 5: I don't want to go in there.
- 17:22Speaker 4: But I don't want to go in there.
- 17:23Speaker 5: And so I'm in the laundry room and I'm saying,
- 17:25Speaker 5: I'm saying, I'm saying, Grover, Grover, did you put the
- 17:30Speaker 5: bridge in? Did you push the bridge back?
- 17:32Speaker 4: Did you put the bridge in? I know, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 4: you're just you're a rando woman, But what was funny?
- 17:38Speaker 2: Don't call my wife rando.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but don't get mad at my sister.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I'm just here. I remember.
- 17:49Speaker 3: We were struggling with act too, so we all decided
- 17:52Speaker 3: to do a writer's retreat, went to Palm Springs. But
- 17:57Speaker 3: that was when I really learned that you like to
- 17:59Speaker 3: call your husband a lot, because you two were always
- 18:02Speaker 3: in the in like the in the pool deck room
- 18:05Speaker 3: or something.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Oh yes, And she kept calling because when we're in
- 18:08Speaker 5: the same groom, I feel so grateful for you that
- 18:10Speaker 5: I could cry, and so it's best to separate myself.
- 18:13Speaker 4: But they were cooking on Hook's whole second.
- 18:16Speaker 2: It was funny.
- 18:16Speaker 1: It was like there's parts where you guys were like,
- 18:18Speaker 1: don't come in. We're really really working on this together.
- 18:21Speaker 2: We just need the brain.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Hard.
- 18:23Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 18:24Speaker 2: It was really special and we worked really hard.
- 18:26Speaker 7: And we also found this amazing uh one of those
- 18:29Speaker 7: little sand shuffle board games tables, and you beat me.
- 18:33Speaker 6: I know it's I had sprinkled it.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Ex That's really fun.
- 18:38Speaker 5: Love you, but two of you are so good at games.
- 18:42Speaker 2: It's interesting.
- 18:43Speaker 5: I love playing checkers against you as a team.
- 18:45Speaker 7: It's fun to play against you as a team. It's
- 18:48Speaker 7: funny because i'm music and lyrics.
- 18:50Speaker 5: So I jumped you jump, Yes, yes, you have to.
- 18:53Speaker 3: We had trouble with Actuo because I mean, we had
- 18:56Speaker 3: such a good Act one finale.
- 18:59Speaker 7: Yeah, well, let's talk talk about kind of anything that
- 19:01Speaker 7: happens the next one as well.
- 19:03Speaker 10: Let's yeah, let's that's diego And the main conflict is
- 19:09Speaker 10: that Hook wants to be a poet, right and he
- 19:12Speaker 10: can't be because he is sent to work at a
- 19:14Speaker 10: woodworking shop run by somebody who might end up being
- 19:18Speaker 10: a pirate, but we don't know, and kind of a.
- 19:21Speaker 7: Gristled old mean leader who we named up chuck.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Chu wink wink wink wink. And let's just say they
- 19:32Speaker 1: might have a little bit of a romantic interest in
- 19:37Speaker 1: a girl named uh t Bell and she is a
- 19:42Speaker 1: full grown woman. Uh at this point in the story,
- 19:46Speaker 1: she's a full grown Let's play.
- 19:47Speaker 2: That song because we wrote that song. I want to
- 19:49Speaker 2: be I'm a big old woman.
- 19:51Speaker 6: I'm a big old woman.
- 19:52Speaker 5: Yeah, right now, in this moment, I'm a big old woman.
- 19:58Speaker 3: And this is saying my tinker belt here it is,
- 20:00Speaker 3: and there's a bit of a Latin influence.
- 20:07Speaker 12: I'm a big old woman. Don't worry, I'm not teeny
- 20:11Speaker 12: at all.
- 20:11Speaker 6: Because I'm a big old woman.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Yes, Richard, I don't want to come down to t.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Bell is Latina and she is busty.
- 20:28Speaker 5: And this was something that came to us in the mudroom.
- 20:30Speaker 5: She has to be Latina. She has to be busty.
- 20:33Speaker 5: And we will not be taking any sensitivity around this,
- 20:39Speaker 5: be consulting anyone, We will not be asking anyone. We
- 20:42Speaker 5: will not be you know, do we got check.
- 20:44Speaker 1: We're done with this woke culture. Why can't I say
- 20:48Speaker 1: a woman is busty?
- 20:49Speaker 7: If you like to have if you like to say
- 20:51Speaker 7: something about this, we're not opening for comments, but you
- 20:54Speaker 7: can write in the comments under this video. I have
- 20:56Speaker 7: a comment when it's open and well, and we'll address it.
- 20:59Speaker 5: We'll address it.
- 21:01Speaker 1: So and I think it was genius because it plays
- 21:03Speaker 1: really into the character, and I think it's a beautiful
- 21:05Speaker 1: arc we set up in the first act for t Bell.
- 21:08Speaker 1: You don't know what's going to happen to her right now,
- 21:10Speaker 1: she's a giant, busty woman. How does she become a.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Tiny little fairy? Love gonna happen?
- 21:16Speaker 1: How is she gonna become a little flat fair?
- 21:18Speaker 4: How is it gonna happen? Because she goes from bus
- 21:21Speaker 4: to flat and that.
- 21:24Speaker 5: Transformations and act.
- 21:28Speaker 4: Too, which is I am a flat woman?
- 21:31Speaker 2: That do it? Do it? It's so it's sad.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Projections of things that are flat are going on behind
- 21:37Speaker 3: her boards cardboard?
- 21:44Speaker 6: Can you hit that wiggle stick?
- 21:45Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 21:48Speaker 4: No more bust.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Double a cup? Whoaa? What?
- 21:56Speaker 9: Who am my?
- 22:00Speaker 6: Who's out in my.
- 22:04Speaker 2: My figure?
- 22:08Speaker 12: I'm so tidy now, I'm so tiny?
- 22:13Speaker 6: Now how do I find out who I.
- 22:18Speaker 13: Am without my body in the way that it was
- 22:21Speaker 13: because I was so busty before, so busty, that's just
- 22:26Speaker 13: who I was. But now I'm teenier than I've ever been.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Before. Richard, come down from there.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Oh god, it's gorgeous. Cream Cream. Did you hear what
- 22:40Speaker 4: cream was doing?
- 22:41Speaker 2: It was amazing.
- 22:42Speaker 4: If you're at home and you heard what Cream was doing,
- 22:44Speaker 4: write it in the comments. I just love this kid.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I want all the comments, and I'll say I'll be
- 22:52Speaker 1: I do want to take a little bit of credit here.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I wrote that song. I wrote it well.
- 22:58Speaker 6: I wrote the one who really really pushed for the
- 23:00Speaker 6: wiggle stick.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I said wiggle all the day.
- 23:03Speaker 5: I wrote the lyrics, and you wrote the wiggles.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I did so. I wrote the song. Is what I
- 23:06Speaker 2: was trying to say.
- 23:07Speaker 4: I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 23:08Speaker 2: It's all right.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I just get I get I I he's like my

- 24:43Speaker 14: Now back to the show, but I'll say I I
- 24:49Speaker 14: think I really saw you guys as a unit when
- 24:53Speaker 14: during the uptuck the wood shop scene, upchuck.
- 24:56Speaker 3: During that wood scene, when I was like, I want
- 24:59Speaker 3: this part to have it's a hard knock life, yeah,
- 25:02Speaker 3: And you guys were like no, And I didn't.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Understand, Like I said, well buy it. Can we put
- 25:07Speaker 4: it in this musical?
- 25:08Speaker 5: I love that, Yeah, because there's a way we can
- 25:12Speaker 5: do hard knock life, you know, and and and there
- 25:15Speaker 5: was a lot of to be to be played with
- 25:17Speaker 5: you with you know, how much wood could a wood chuck?
- 25:20Speaker 1: Chuck?
- 25:21Speaker 4: But I want it a hard knock life, right.
- 25:23Speaker 7: So this is kind of an insider for the creative
- 25:25Speaker 7: team when you work with financiers. A lot of time
- 25:28Speaker 7: financial people say something and then you have to go.
- 25:30Speaker 2: What did they mean by that? Ye a lot of translation.
- 25:34Speaker 7: You realize what you wanted was an on beyond scene,
- 25:37Speaker 7: an environment scene where a lot of people are up
- 25:40Speaker 7: to something kind of talking about how hard things are.
- 25:43Speaker 7: And that's where the seal scene came up.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Well, we did this on the.
- 25:46Speaker 7: Pier, the San Diego Pier. We did the entire seal
- 25:50Speaker 7: ensemble number one, flapping their friends on.
- 25:52Speaker 1: That And I love this because it was the first
- 25:54Speaker 1: moment you get to hear a little bit of Hook's poetry.
- 25:57Speaker 1: He's been so embarrassed to share the poetry, so he
- 26:00Speaker 1: decides to share it to the seals and they go, wow.
- 26:03Speaker 1: The seals are the ones that say share it, and
- 26:05Speaker 1: he shares his poetry.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Well, Sun Moon Moon, I'm so sorry.
- 26:10Speaker 7: I'm son and now I know, uh Moon, if you'd
- 26:14Speaker 7: want to sing the seal part, because you love this
- 26:16Speaker 7: so much, you're You're more than welcome to join.
- 26:18Speaker 2: You can do it together the seal.
- 26:21Speaker 4: I'll do the seal.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Let's just all jump in and we can't do the
- 26:23Speaker 2: poetry for sure. Yeah, you do the poetry. We don't
- 26:26Speaker 2: want to take the from you.
- 26:27Speaker 6: No, no, And I thank you for that, and I
- 26:29Speaker 6: really think and I'll.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Do the seal.
- 26:31Speaker 15: Yeah that's a sound.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Give us your poetry, little kid.
- 26:51Speaker 10: Oh yeah, that's it.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Oh you're right. Sorry.
- 27:01Speaker 6: Now it's the poetry to be or.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Not to be?
- 27:06Speaker 13: That is what I'm thinking of as I'm wondering who
- 27:10Speaker 13: I am in.
- 27:10Speaker 2: This world.
- 27:14Speaker 13: To be, or if it's another way to be, maybe I.
- 27:19Speaker 4: Could be anything I wish at all. If I just
- 27:23Speaker 4: look at the sun, How does the.
- 27:24Speaker 6: Sun shine that way?
- 27:26Speaker 11: How can it shine on my ten fingers when I
- 27:28Speaker 11: have so many fingers reflecting the light.
- 27:31Speaker 6: Of the sun as it bounces off my fingernails.
- 27:33Speaker 13: As it bounces off my eyes, as it bounces off
- 27:37Speaker 13: my hair, and goes everywhere everyone.
- 27:43Speaker 2: This kid's got something. I think he's got something. Or
- 27:48Speaker 2: this kid's got something. I think this kid's something.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Richard, get down from that.
- 27:57Speaker 5: I don't wanna. I want to go to this cool.
- 28:02Speaker 2: God.
- 28:02Speaker 6: I'm sorry there too right.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Away that we need to we.
- 28:08Speaker 5: Should never Richard is always there. But I love this
- 28:12Speaker 5: song because it sort of sets up that that San
- 28:16Speaker 5: Diego is a breeding ground for poets, and it always
- 28:19Speaker 5: has been right. You can't look out at those waves
- 28:23Speaker 5: without having a bit of poetry come to your mind.
- 28:26Speaker 5: And so I think that that was just such a
- 28:28Speaker 5: brilliant way of using the space.
- 28:30Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Halfway through I said, I'm done. I'm just not a performer.
- 28:33Speaker 3: It's okay, no, no, I'm just not a performer.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Okay, you know what I mean, I'm a director, and
- 28:41Speaker 4: I'm a finance here.
- 28:42Speaker 7: Totally and a choreographer. Yeah, you're a lot of things.
- 28:45Speaker 7: So I thought you maybe was also a performer.
- 28:47Speaker 4: No, no, no, I'm.
- 28:50Speaker 6: It does lead to performers.
- 28:53Speaker 5: It seems like it would be natural.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I really particularly love a song that my wife suggested.
- 29:02Speaker 6: Well, this's hard to play this one, is?
- 29:10Speaker 2: It is quite hard? I told Cream, I just really
- 29:13Speaker 2: need this song in the show. Understand. Yeah, it's a
- 29:17Speaker 2: good song for It's just a so good song for us.
- 29:19Speaker 5: Because what I'm and this is something that we fight about,
- 29:23Speaker 5: is I want there to be ip potential for this show.
- 29:28Speaker 5: Right If Hooked is from hook is from Peter Pan,
- 29:33Speaker 5: we need somewhere else to go from here, And where
- 29:36Speaker 5: else do we go? But the man who made hooks
- 29:40Speaker 5: hook and we go to his shop and he's got
- 29:43Speaker 5: all these wares, and he's got all of these funky
- 29:46Speaker 5: sort of Santa Fe inspired metalwork and copper work and
- 29:50Speaker 5: brilliant little coca pellis and whatnot.
- 29:54Speaker 2: My wife went on a silent retreat in the middle
- 29:56Speaker 2: of our process.
- 29:57Speaker 5: I did, I did, I went. I went to New
- 29:59Speaker 5: Mexico and you have to come next time And this
- 30:01Speaker 5: character to come.
- 30:02Speaker 3: This character is great Steve job Doorknobs, Steve Doorknob, Steve Doorknobs,
- 30:07Speaker 3: Steve John And it's a player and he's and what
- 30:09Speaker 3: I love about our direction is that he's he's looking.
- 30:11Speaker 4: He looks like Steve.
- 30:13Speaker 7: And so I said, Steve Knobbs would be a great Steve.
- 30:18Speaker 5: No no, no, no, no, no, no, no no no,
- 30:21Speaker 5: it's me Steve Knobbs. It is Steve Doorknobs, the metal
- 30:26Speaker 5: metal man, full of many metal musings. And the song
- 30:30Speaker 5: makes sense.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Oh God, is it we come? Well?
- 30:36Speaker 5: Sure? Just to prove to you that it works, I'll
- 30:39Speaker 5: sing it. Steve Doorknobs, metal metal man, full of metal,
- 30:47Speaker 5: metal musing, Steve Doorknobs, metal metal man, full of metal
- 30:52Speaker 5: metal musings. Open the door, open the cabinet, full of metal.
- 30:57Speaker 5: Let's shape it, Let's shape it.
- 30:59Speaker 4: It's a top number.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Where are you?
- 31:02Speaker 1: You are completely off camera right now.
- 31:05Speaker 5: Knock knock, knock, knock, knock, knock knock. That's metal metal,
- 31:10Speaker 5: many metal metal, many metal men have many metal musics,
- 31:13Speaker 5: and the many metal musics have many many men. Those men,
- 31:18Speaker 5: macho men, with their metal metal music, with their metal
- 31:23Speaker 5: metal music. When I tell you everyone is going to
- 31:28Speaker 5: I don't wanna come down.
- 31:30Speaker 4: I mean every kid is gonna go. I'm on the
- 31:34Speaker 4: tree for Juilliard. Here's my song.
- 31:38Speaker 1: The amazing thing is the music. I loved it. The
- 31:41Speaker 1: music is in four four, the lyrics are in five four.
- 31:44Speaker 5: And that is something I insist on because this has
- 31:48Speaker 5: to be a man who is out of his depth.
- 31:50Speaker 5: He has to know that he is in the world
- 31:53Speaker 5: and he cannot function because he's being asked to do
- 31:56Speaker 5: something he's never been asked to do before. You just
- 31:58Speaker 5: make a metal hand, and and he's struggling. And this
- 32:01Speaker 5: is an entire movie. And why won't you read my screenplay?
- 32:04Speaker 2: No, it's good, It's really good. I want to say.
- 32:06Speaker 7: What I liked about this song is that And it's
- 32:09Speaker 7: no secret it's number one on our YouTube most watched
- 32:11Speaker 7: on our YouTube.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Kim Katrell scatting is what that was very similar to.
- 32:16Speaker 5: Yes, you may also like Kim Katrel scatting.
- 32:21Speaker 7: Even on the Heat Dogs and boxed it all the
- 32:23Speaker 7: sheet Dogs. That's exactly what that was. Yes, yeah, but
- 32:26Speaker 7: I look, the screenplay is great. You know we're a
- 32:28Speaker 7: musical team. I love that you're branching out to the screenplays.
- 32:32Speaker 5: And I just think that we could branch out together.
- 32:34Speaker 5: I just think that if we got a one pager
- 32:37Speaker 5: together and we started sending it out, I think that
- 32:39Speaker 5: people would go for Steve doorknobs. I think there's a
- 32:42Speaker 5: lot to be done here. But no, I guess we'll
- 32:45Speaker 5: slot it into the middle of act two when all
- 32:47Speaker 5: the other actors are tired and they need to bring
- 32:49Speaker 5: in the aging actor with a chair to go sing
- 32:52Speaker 5: Steve doorknobs in the middle of the stage, and you
- 32:54Speaker 5: could cut it if he's sick.
- 32:56Speaker 7: We tried doorknobs as the opener for you. We tried
- 33:00Speaker 7: it in that rehearse.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Just didn't make any sense.
- 33:03Speaker 4: The fears said that it worked.
- 33:05Speaker 5: Okay, Well, maybe we're trying to get different audiences. Maybe
- 33:08Speaker 5: I'm trying to get an audience who wants to.
- 33:10Speaker 4: Think curious cream. I think you need to speak on
- 33:14Speaker 4: this during metal musings.
- 33:17Speaker 3: There's something I've never seen in sheet music before, uh huh,
- 33:21Speaker 3: which is a rest with a question mark yes and
- 33:25Speaker 3: you get to guess how guess how long the rest is.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Can you speak on that?
- 33:30Speaker 7: Well?
- 33:30Speaker 6: And the beauty of that as it sort of goes
- 33:32Speaker 6: both ways, where the pit has no idea in addition
- 33:36Speaker 6: to the performer having no idea, and that's kind of
- 33:39Speaker 6: sort of the give and take of what he's going The.
- 33:42Speaker 5: Confusion is the point. The confusion is the point, and
- 33:46Speaker 5: if there were no confusion, the song wouldn't work. And
- 33:49Speaker 5: that's what we keep talking about. And I'm so glad
- 33:52Speaker 5: Cream that you understand what I'm going for. I know
- 33:54Speaker 5: Cream understands what I'm thinking, even if not everyone does.
- 33:58Speaker 1: But you know, this musical is so personal and so beautiful.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I mean, it's really a story about do you do
- 34:04Speaker 1: the thing that society is pushing you to become or
- 34:07Speaker 1: do you follow your own intentions and do what you
- 34:09Speaker 1: want to do. And that's why I think the Act
- 34:12Speaker 1: one break is so interesting. We see a man and
- 34:16Speaker 1: his arm is his hand is bitten off at the dance,
- 34:19Speaker 1: at the dance dance, the big dance, and somebody invites
- 34:22Speaker 1: the crocodile, and the crocodile bites his arma.
- 34:24Speaker 2: So somebody of yeah, we we it's it's.
- 34:27Speaker 1: The beginning of you know where it's going.
- 34:29Speaker 7: It's the San Diego Dance, It's the Neverland Dance, and
- 34:33Speaker 7: it's actually we haven't talked about this, yet there's a
- 34:36Speaker 7: lot of changes between what we start from at the
- 34:39Speaker 7: beginning of our show and Peter Pan.
- 34:41Speaker 2: It's actually called always Land at the beginning.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Because because at the end of the musical you'll see
- 34:47Speaker 1: why it becomes never Never Land.
- 34:51Speaker 7: So it's called always Always Land, and it's always Always
- 34:53Speaker 7: Land annual Dance, and it's just they.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Have one dance a year.
- 34:58Speaker 1: And this is one of my favorite, one of my
- 35:02Speaker 1: favorite numbers in the whole musical.
- 35:04Speaker 7: So Richard is there, Captain Hook is there, the crocodile
- 35:07Speaker 7: is there. Her name is Jinzabella and she is there.
- 35:11Speaker 4: And Jinzabella played by another girl I met at the Jimmies. Yeah,
- 35:17Speaker 4: she's great.
- 35:18Speaker 3: She has arranged what's her name, I don't know, Okay,
- 35:23Speaker 3: just girl at the Jimmies.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and you really had a big part in this song.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I mean, do you want to talk about what it
- 35:29Speaker 1: was like to write this and what you were aiming for.
- 35:30Speaker 6: Yeah, Well, when I was initially pitched the Always Always Dance, Uh,
- 35:35Speaker 6: it sort of felt like kind of proms It sort
- 35:38Speaker 6: of felt like brilliant.
- 35:40Speaker 2: How did you mean.
- 35:42Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it was like coming together of the community,
- 35:45Speaker 6: but it was it wasn't just for high school. It
- 35:47Speaker 6: was kind of for anybody.
- 35:49Speaker 5: Uh right, It's an all ages dance. And that's what's
- 35:51Speaker 5: so great about San Diego is that you have the
- 35:53Speaker 5: freedom in the space to play and do that.
- 35:55Speaker 6: Yeah, which is fabulous. I felt like it can I
- 35:59Speaker 6: ask you?
- 36:00Speaker 3: I'm so sorry, Cream, No, everyone is san Diego something
- 36:04Speaker 3: we have to.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Put in this music.
- 36:06Speaker 2: It's already there, darling.
- 36:08Speaker 3: But sometimes I feel as if from the creatives, you
- 36:12Speaker 3: guys are pushing san Diego.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Something, something very monumental happened to us in San Diego.
- 36:21Speaker 7: We were playing a game of sucking blow cards. We
- 36:27Speaker 7: were in a in a hotel room.
- 36:31Speaker 5: In an omni playing sock and go with the cards.
- 36:37Speaker 6: And does everyone know sucking blow? Do you guys know something?
- 36:42Speaker 2: We played sucking blow every once in a while, so.
- 36:49Speaker 6: It's game, a good family game you can do.
- 36:51Speaker 2: You want to explain what it is?
- 36:53Speaker 6: From my understanding when I've played, when we've played, h
- 36:56Speaker 6: it's it's sort of the passing of a car. Yeah,
- 37:00Speaker 6: So I'll yes, yes, exactly, and I'll suck, suck, suck,
- 37:08Speaker 6: and then I go to pass it to the next player, uh,
- 37:13Speaker 6: preferably a family member or a sibling preferably, and I
- 37:17Speaker 6: don't blow yet, but I still suck. You suck until
- 37:20Speaker 6: they start, stay sucking until I feel them suck.
- 37:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, explained.
- 37:30Speaker 6: And then and only then do I blow. But that's
- 37:33Speaker 6: just how I've played.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's how we play, Okay.
- 37:37Speaker 5: Exactly until you blow and the critical moment between suck
- 37:41Speaker 5: and blow when there's ice communication.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Look, we all know suck blow.
- 37:48Speaker 7: We all played probably some of the most popular games.
- 37:51Speaker 5: We all retired. When we're stressed, we break out a
- 37:54Speaker 5: game of sucking blow.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Yeah, the best party games being alive.
- 37:58Speaker 2: So my wife and mister Kreem ended up kissing.
- 38:04Speaker 5: In the chasm the Marianna's trench between suck and blow.
- 38:09Speaker 5: Anything can happen.
- 38:10Speaker 7: Something horrible happened, something not sucking, and the blow was
- 38:14Speaker 7: blowing and the card fell.
- 38:16Speaker 5: Because I take responsibility for this because I blew too early.
- 38:22Speaker 6: Okay, it ended up being sort of a beautiful thing
- 38:26Speaker 6: because it's it's kind of what led to that rest
- 38:28Speaker 6: with the question mark, because really that's a little bit
- 38:32Speaker 6: how we felt. When do we suck, when do we blow?
- 38:35Speaker 2: When do we start? We go? Where do we go
- 38:37Speaker 2: from here? Exactly?
- 38:38Speaker 5: When do we stuck whether and why?
- 38:39Speaker 4: A San Diego?
- 38:41Speaker 5: So that's where the hotel was.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Does anything happened? What does anything happen anywhere.
- 38:46Speaker 5: The hotel we kissed? We kissed it. It was in
- 38:49Speaker 5: San Diego. It changed everything for me.
- 38:52Speaker 4: And that's where.
- 38:52Speaker 5: They have a sea world.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I don't know why you keep asking this. This is
- 38:55Speaker 1: the thirtieth time I've heard this story.
- 38:58Speaker 4: But I mean this did I.
- 38:59Speaker 3: I don't want to jump the story, but we should
- 39:01Speaker 3: show when the lost boys play suck and blow?
- 39:03Speaker 2: And I too sure. I love this one. I can
- 39:06Speaker 2: sing it.
- 39:06Speaker 1: This is lost Boys pre Peter Pan.
- 39:10Speaker 5: And they weren't they were not lost yet.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Oh no, this isn't it. It's more of about suck
- 39:14Speaker 2: and blow. Sorry, you're right, I totally thank you.
- 39:19Speaker 7: That's it, suck and blow and suck and blow and
- 39:22Speaker 7: suck and how the game goes suck and suck and
- 39:27Speaker 7: go and where we blow.
- 39:29Speaker 2: And help one knows.
- 39:30Speaker 4: I want to suck.
- 39:31Speaker 2: I want to blow?
- 39:33Speaker 4: Why I suck?
- 39:34Speaker 2: Why I blow?
- 39:35Speaker 5: Oh yes?
- 39:36Speaker 7: Oh no, oh yes, oh no oh I sucked, but
- 39:39Speaker 7: I didn't blow.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Richard, get off the broom.
- 39:43Speaker 3: I want to go to school so that you two
- 39:46Speaker 3: work together something happened, I know magic.
- 39:48Speaker 4: That was one of the best songs we played all time.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I mean the visual image of a bunch of boys
- 39:54Speaker 1: playing suck and blow nonstock.
- 39:55Speaker 5: And you wouldn't believe they're going up and down and
- 39:58Speaker 5: some are squatting when the others substending after the others
- 40:00Speaker 5: are standing the others a squatic.
- 40:01Speaker 2: That's the type of song you can hear the choreography in.
- 40:04Speaker 7: Thee which is really nice with that. That is basically
- 40:09Speaker 7: our merch pony right, remoking making a lot of shirts,
- 40:11Speaker 7: making a lot of haf that they suck and blow.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hooked with the hook. Yeah, we have
- 40:19Speaker 2: a hook that you can buy that you can wear.
- 40:20Speaker 2: It says suck and blow along the hook.
- 40:22Speaker 4: Yeah, really cute stuff.
- 40:24Speaker 1: I don't want to get too serious, but I do
- 40:26Speaker 1: want to talk about one of my favorite parts in
- 40:30Speaker 1: the musical. Dialla's lost moment and Hook has to make
- 40:33Speaker 1: the choice is he going to put on the hook
- 40:36Speaker 1: and become Captain Hook like his name was, or he's
- 40:41Speaker 1: going to put on the hand with a pen and
- 40:44Speaker 1: become Captain Pen.
- 40:46Speaker 3: And what I loved about this was, I remember I
- 40:48Speaker 3: told the creative team, I said, I love in Hamilton
- 40:51Speaker 3: when the bullet is an actor, so I want the
- 40:54Speaker 3: hook to be an actor.
- 40:55Speaker 4: And we got the girl who's also playing the alligator.
- 40:57Speaker 7: Yeah, and she is from Circus Sole and I I
- 41:00Speaker 7: can't I can't quite figure her out on a human being.
- 41:04Speaker 2: She wasn't before this, but hard a hard chat.
- 41:08Speaker 5: She does a lot of what.
- 41:11Speaker 2: This week. And she was like, I was an old Vegas,
- 41:13Speaker 2: old Vegas.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Yeah, and and and everything she's you say to her,
- 41:17Speaker 1: it almost feels like she is offendant. She kind of
- 41:19Speaker 1: goes like what, and You're like, I'm just trying.
- 41:21Speaker 5: To I'm just trying.
- 41:22Speaker 1: I'm just trying to take something.
- 41:24Speaker 4: But she has such a good arch, she's.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Such a good art. That must have been forty five
- 41:30Speaker 2: minutes of it.
- 41:31Speaker 5: She was so mean about it. I saw that she
- 41:33Speaker 5: was so mean. She was like mad at you.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's weird.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Yeah, she's a fantastic actress and.
- 41:38Speaker 4: A great actress person.
- 41:40Speaker 5: So yes, that that crucial choice, of course, between becoming
- 41:45Speaker 5: a poet or becoming a pirate, and the word poet
- 41:51Speaker 5: is very close to pirate, and which we.
- 41:54Speaker 1: When we realized that, oh god, we were screaming.
- 41:57Speaker 3: It was like the whole play open up, wrote my
- 42:00Speaker 3: exs La Francie, and I said, oh my.
- 42:02Speaker 2: I believe in God. I was like, oh, God is here.
- 42:05Speaker 1: God must exist. Otherwise poet and pirate wouldn't sound similarly.
- 42:09Speaker 2: They don't rhyme, but they.
- 42:12Speaker 5: Do sound similar. And I think I suspect it's the
- 42:15Speaker 5: pea sound, but I'm not a doctor.
- 42:17Speaker 2: P T would give it up the T as well.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Are you serious? Think about it? Poets?
- 42:24Speaker 5: God is real. God is real, and he's with us.
- 42:26Speaker 2: God is good.
- 42:28Speaker 5: Poet or pirate? Poet or pirate. This is something that
- 42:32Speaker 5: we had.
- 42:33Speaker 1: He was, I love that, and it's so hard that
- 42:39Speaker 1: it's off because you know, there's some dissonance.
- 42:42Speaker 3: Yeah, choice, So that's the whole song.
- 42:52Speaker 1: That's the whole song. That's the whole song. And he's thinking,
- 42:58Speaker 1: so we wrote the first internal song. What we want
- 43:02Speaker 1: to say is we wrote all the book, the entire lyrics,
- 43:04Speaker 1: but it's happening internally in hooks.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Yes, And can I tell you why that that note
- 43:09Speaker 2: popped out? You might not know.
- 43:11Speaker 7: I was standing over him as he was writing it,
- 43:12Speaker 7: and I dropped a big old gummy bear dear, huge horribo,
- 43:22Speaker 7: and that's the gummy that's the gummy I.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Would whoop shake like a race car.
- 43:27Speaker 4: And you hear this in our opening theme. I think
- 43:34Speaker 4: it's gorgeous.
- 43:46Speaker 9: Redchard, Redchard, and I wish you guys could hear the
- 43:50Speaker 9: lyrics of that song. They're so good and it's so
- 43:54Speaker 9: beautiful because right at the end he goes, I now
- 43:57Speaker 9: know I have to pick up the.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Hook, and then Act two opens, Richard has finally become
- 44:03Speaker 3: shmim m.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it's pretty incredible.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's amazing right that, So that song that all
- 44:09Speaker 1: his last moment happens right at the end of Act on,
- 44:12Speaker 1: right before he goes to the dance, and we.
- 44:13Speaker 7: Have our actor his name is his name is Vincent Avongo,
- 44:16Speaker 7: and he's he's sitting up on this platform the whole show, Richard.
- 44:19Speaker 2: That's what get down from the get down from there.
- 44:21Speaker 7: It's kind of like the musical Once the musical they
- 44:23Speaker 7: had that platform above the bar, and so we have
- 44:25Speaker 7: him just sitting up there and he's pre show and
- 44:27Speaker 7: he's actually pre pre show.
- 44:28Speaker 2: He has to call.
- 44:29Speaker 7: His call is at three and he needs to be
- 44:31Speaker 7: on that platform by four.
- 44:33Speaker 4: Sandwich when we do Mike.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Check smelly turkey Sandwich.
- 44:36Speaker 5: Oh, sometimes he drops some of the turkey.
- 44:38Speaker 1: And you're like, is this going to be on this
- 44:39Speaker 1: holey stage the whole time.
- 44:41Speaker 7: I told you guys, we gotta be a little more
- 44:42Speaker 7: patient with him. He's doing a lot of hard stuff
- 44:44Speaker 7: up there.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Okay, I have no patience.
- 44:46Speaker 5: I can't. I can't. I can't with that guy on
- 44:48Speaker 5: that board up there.
- 44:50Speaker 3: But I think I got addicted to what happened with
- 44:52Speaker 3: that song that you guys did. I got addicted to
- 44:54Speaker 3: when you accidentally dropped that gummy bear. But then I
- 44:57Speaker 3: asked you to eat a lot more snacks so that
- 44:59Speaker 3: would happen war Yeah, and then it kind of over corrected.
- 45:02Speaker 7: Yeah, so yeah, we we do have a song called
- 45:05Speaker 7: uh Ingram's lament. Ingram is one of the pirates, and
- 45:10Speaker 7: it just sounds like I've dropping a lot of stuff
- 45:12Speaker 7: on the keys.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:13Speaker 6: Yeah, that one sort of uh turned into this one.
- 45:16Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, feel free, feel free?
- 45:21Speaker 2: Why did I become pirate?
- 45:24Speaker 5: Oh no? Why up?
- 45:27Speaker 1: Come poirate?
- 45:28Speaker 2: To go yo he ho?
- 45:31Speaker 4: And then we get the other pirate in here.
- 45:34Speaker 1: We go, Here we go, Here we go, Here we go?
- 45:36Speaker 4: Why did I become a pirate?
- 45:38Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 45:39Speaker 4: What did I become?
- 45:40Speaker 2: Everybody?
- 45:41Speaker 4: Well, Why did it become a pilate noise?
- 45:44Speaker 5: Oh?
- 45:46Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 45:47Speaker 2: Can it ball?
- 45:48Speaker 5: This?
- 45:48Speaker 2: Cannibal that? Where is my pirate hat? Can't it all?
- 45:53Speaker 1: This?
- 45:54Speaker 5: Can't it all?
- 45:54Speaker 1: That?
- 45:55Speaker 4: Where is my pirate hat?
- 45:57Speaker 2: I got a peg leg and I gotta fake.
- 46:00Speaker 1: I got a peg leg and I gotta fake.
- 46:03Speaker 4: I got mold on my toe. I got mold on
- 46:06Speaker 4: my toe.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Everybody needs a parrot on this boat.
- 46:14Speaker 6: Beautiful, so beautiful song.
- 46:17Speaker 5: It's a beautiful song. It's of course, it's so full
- 46:20Speaker 5: of dissonance. This is the moment that Captain Hook realizes,
- 46:23Speaker 5: you know, I kind of want to be a pirate,
- 46:25Speaker 5: but not like this. Yeah, well, I gotta make my
- 46:29Speaker 5: own thing.
- 46:30Speaker 6: And I love that we called it his lament. There
- 46:33Speaker 6: was really a lot about that song that we sort
- 46:35Speaker 6: of flipped on its head, you know, because we hear lament,
- 46:38Speaker 6: you're not thinking, well you just what are you thinking?
- 46:42Speaker 2: What are you thinking?
- 46:43Speaker 7: By the way, flip on its head me more mean
- 46:44Speaker 7: like flips, chocolate covered pretzels falling on this.
- 46:49Speaker 4: Literally all over the keyboard.
- 46:50Speaker 3: And I keep telling that girl from the Jimmies she
- 46:53Speaker 3: shouldn't sing that song.
- 46:54Speaker 4: It's a one person song.
- 46:55Speaker 2: It's a one person just song. Is we cast her
- 46:57Speaker 2: in it?
- 46:58Speaker 1: I know, so I don't get it. Stand to the side,
- 47:00Speaker 1: stand down, kids, keep you can't keep lyrics like stop singing.
- 47:04Speaker 2: You can't keep coming up to her and saying stop singing.
- 47:07Speaker 5: We told her of sort of gaslighting this woman. We
- 47:09Speaker 5: need to we need to at a certain points.
- 47:12Speaker 3: High graduate written in the script, and I want her
- 47:14Speaker 3: in the sheet music, but I don't want her doing it.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Off out, get away, guys.
- 47:19Speaker 7: We're we're doing Good Morning New Orleans in about forty
- 47:22Speaker 7: five minutes, so we do have to wrap up.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Okay, why don't we just finish with the big finale?
- 47:28Speaker 2: Okay, to let you guys.
- 47:30Speaker 7: Yeah, also our track, we're gonna be at the Pasiinga
- 47:32Speaker 7: Playhouse and then auditioning. We're trying it out in Houston
- 47:34Speaker 7: and Chicago, and we're going to Fort Lauderdale and then
- 47:37Speaker 7: we're gonna head up to Pennsylvania and then we're gonna
- 47:39Speaker 7: be in New York.
- 47:40Speaker 6: We're doing Pennsylvania where yeah, we just added.
- 47:43Speaker 7: Yeah, we just added the new Paul's Playhouse. So it's
- 47:45Speaker 7: gonna be really fun.
- 47:47Speaker 1: So were come out and see us, give us all
- 47:49Speaker 1: the support, write as many reviews. As you can, and
- 47:52Speaker 1: just keep writing reviews, good reviews, and maybe one day
- 47:56Speaker 1: you're going to see this on Broadway. Probably this is.
- 47:59Speaker 4: The song when Captain goes. I actually kind of like
- 48:03Speaker 4: this hook, right.
- 48:05Speaker 1: I guess sometimes fate and destiny are intertwined, and I
- 48:10Speaker 1: guess sometimes the worst thing you can become is the
- 48:13Speaker 1: thing you were always meant to be.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Take it away.
- 48:17Speaker 12: I got a missing hand, but baby, now I got
- 48:22Speaker 12: a hook.
- 48:25Speaker 1: And that's the song.
- 48:27Speaker 7: I gotta missing I love you, baby.
- 48:32Speaker 5: We're gonna make it work.
- 48:34Speaker 1: We're gonna make it.
- 48:36Speaker 5: We're gonna make it work. Baby, We're gonna get.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Out of hand.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Don't worry at all.
- 48:42Speaker 12: Because you can find one on a floor of a
- 48:46Speaker 12: shop that you worked at with the friend that you
- 48:50Speaker 12: met mister miss me any kind.
- 48:57Speaker 6: Oh there's more tapping in this one, that's right, And
- 49:04Speaker 6: this one has a big finish with everybody.
- 49:06Speaker 2: Yeah, here it is.
- 49:08Speaker 15: Because we've all got up.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Richard, come down.
- 49:17Speaker 5: I can't because I'm a pirate and call me Smee.
- 49:26Speaker 4: I love that weird note. I love it.
- 49:27Speaker 1: This has been artists on artists on artists on artists
- 49:29Speaker 1: answer the question, Now, that's why we call it show business.
- 49:31Speaker 5: Good night, and live from the.

- 49:41Speaker 5: He's really it.
- 49:42Speaker 1: We love you, guys, you can have We're gonna tag him,
- 49:45Speaker 1: so follow him there.
