0:00
[rock music] Good day.
0:19
Good to, like, take off, eh? Good evening. [clears throat] This is Full Spectrum Cycling, show number 229, here at the River West Podcast, mke.org- The mother ship... radio studio.
0:36
[laughs] Where all the magic happens. Did you... JK. Hey, JK's here to my right over- Hi. Hey, hey. I'm here... I'm touch- strong man Tony's across the table now. [growls] Yeah. Lifted some heavy shit.
0:49
Yeah, so we finally were able to get to the second floor of the old building and rescue some stuff that's been held hostage there for six months. At least. More than that. It's been a long time.
1:02
And, uh, our friend Matt Lee's studio has a hole in the floor that he can put his scissor lift up into, and we were able to drop down. [laughs] Among other things, the old podcast table, which is- Finally back...
1:16
super happy to have that back. Oh, nice. [laughs] Yeah. Oh, that building, okay. Yeah. I, I don't- I, I was- It's sitting in the hallway outside in case you didn't see it.
1:23
I- It was- I was- Looks like- I was a man on a mission getting in here... yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
1:27
Well, I, yeah, we had some really nice chairs in there, some, uh, other equipments that, our old rack system with all of our old podcasting [laughs] stuff in it. It's like, really want that stuff back, but- Mm-hmm...
1:39
but the, uh, the powers that be at that building decided that having an elevator to the second floor is not necessary, and the only other way up there is these super narrow, like, fire escape stairs.
1:50
Oh, yeah, I remember those. And steep. You forgot steep. Yeah, steep as well. They are very steep. And metal. You can do, you can do that cool [makes whirring sound] like I'm going- Oh... I'm in a submarine slide.
1:59
Yeah, you could slide down them. Yeah. It'd be frightening, but you could do it. They're fun. Yeah. Like, throw your feet up on it and- Yeah. Yeah... just sli- I mean, they're narrow enough that your- Elbows up.
2:05
[growls] Yep. Yeah. You're- I could, I-... coached in there... every time I went up and down those stairs I envision just crashing and burning on them and how much that would suck.
2:12
Walking down with that dolly, I'm like, "This, I just gotta take it- Mm... one step at a time." You just, you gotta be very, um, what's the term I'm looking for? Slow and steady wins the race. Deliberate. Deliberate.
2:22
Thank you. Be deliberate. Each step you take has to be very deliberate. I've been doing crossword puzzles lately, so. You did good there. D- good work. Good work. [laughs] My, my vocabulary has gone from,
2:31
um, non-existent to I know, like, eight more words now. Nice. It's, it is a, it is a new part of the Apple News app. So now there's a pu- Crossword puzzles? Now there's a crossword puzzle every day.
2:44
Uh, there's a little tiny, mini one and then a- Oh, cool... and a big one, which can- Cool. [sighs] 20 minutes of noodling around if it's an easy one. Helps your brain. 45 minutes if it's a hard one. Oh. Yes.
2:54
There's some hard ones. My r- my mind rebels at stagnation. Yeah. No, I, I- Not mine. [laughs]... I haven't done a crossword since we got the dang old Milwaukee Journal back in the olden times. Whoa.
3:06
Before it was the Journal? But the... [laughs] Yeah. Boy, I wish we got that building. That would've been fun. Mm. What a great building it was, the old Journal Sentinel building. Uh, heck, it's warm out. In the day.
3:21
[laughs] Yeah, it's, it's, yeah. Yeah, it's doing that warm in the day and cold at night type thing. Yeah, I saw 62. I think the rest of the week it's supposed to be similar.
3:29
I am still figuring out my wise thermostats and, like, it's supposed to tell me when I'm home and stuff, and I don't quite have it.
3:37
I think part of it is that I've got two, you know, one for the first floor and one for the second, and I think it gets confused and stuff. So, like, I got up this morning and went downstairs, I'm like,
3:46
"Why the fuck is it so cold down here?" 'Cause it's 58, and it didn't know I was, quote, unquote, "awake yet." So. Oh, well, it's too smart. Yeah. I gotta- Too smart for its own good...
3:56
I want it to kick in a little earlier so when I get out of bed my toes aren't frozen. Speaking of wise cams, look behind you. Got a wise cam in here? It's looking, it's looking at you. Oh, it is. [laughs] Hey there.
4:05
Um- I love my wise cams... well, yeah, JK was, uh, uh, talking about how hard it is to clothe yourself properly and be comfortable throughout the day. Mm-hmm. And pick the proper attire.
4:17
Do tell, what do you got on there? You got some fleece on today, huh? Uh, well, yeah, the, on this one I got the good old flannel. Mm-hmm. Mm. This is, like, the house coat.
4:26
[laughs] When I'm at home, I just didn't feel like- That's to-... really changing... that's to the pixies? Well, that is the under. For, for m- but you must make it fashion, you see. Well, I see that.
4:35
And then you have the base layer of a, a nice- I'm also sporting a base layer... flannel. We had- [clears throat] We have, we've talked about WMSE before, the radio station, the greatest radio station in the world.
4:45
Really? Who are they again? Didn't we talk about those guys? [laughs] So I had my, uh, Von- I'm wearing a Dewey Gill shirt. Yeah.
4:49
I had my, [laughs] I had my Von Munns Fang Club shirt on the other day and I, I was two, 3:00 in the morning, I went to the restroom in the old house there.
5:00
[laughs] And I turned the light off and I looked in the mirror and I went, "Ah!" [laughs] That's awesome. 'Cause, 'cause it's glowing at me. I'm like, "What the hell's going on?"
5:06
[laughs] It has a hell of a good glow quality. It does have a- He did not fuck around with that... at least brand new wise, it glows- Yeah, for sure... like a motherfucker, bro. Ship.
5:14
That was- Thank you for the reminder. I gotta get to WMSE and get mine. Don't you have socks, too? I have socks, too, but I also have two more Von Munn shirts. It's worth having them. They're nice, soft.
5:23
They're, uh, so some of the MSE shirts, including the, uh, what do you call the one, you, the lollipop? What do you call the round thing? Meatball? The meatball. The meatball. Um, those are thicker, like- Yeah...
5:33
heavyweight gildens, the- The meatball especially. Yeah. That thing's, like, thermal. Yeah, and the, uh, the Von Munns one is a, a much softer hand. Yeah. Yeah, that paint lasts a while.
5:43
My, uh, [clears throat] original shirt is [paint cracks] very- Oops... like, scattered in terms of the, [laughs] the teeth- Yeah... and its glow quality. But it still works, you just got to [makes whirring sound]
5:56
activate it- Light this-... just well enough... activate it with the f- the cellphone light. Yeah. Before the, uh, show started we talked about Mr. Trusky, and I like that he's got the Fang tattoo, Fang Club tattoo.
6:05
Oh, does he? Uh-huh. Ah. Like good for you. [coughs] Also talked about how much he and Willie Porter- Look alike. [laughs] Yeah... look similar at some times. Doppelgangers.
6:17
Yes, from a distance there's always a moment of, a moment of pause. So what- And that was what I ended up with today. They had a, a studio session down at the other station down there, 88.9. Oh, Radio Milwaukee.
6:31
[coughs] And it was a little storytelling time. They do it for like a half hour every so often. And yeah, Willie Porter definitely likes the adventure of bicycles. That's awesome. He should be on our show.
6:44
So it was very cool that way and- We should try to get him on the show. That might be fun... I, I would think. But then he was talking about bicycles and he's like, he's like, "Yeah, I just love the thing." And so like,
6:53
"But you know, but not electric. I prefer my bikes acoustic." That's good. I was like, "There it is again." Yes. I love that. Yeah.
6:59
Although, and since I commented on your, your fake bike post last week, I shall now from this day forward refer to them as engine bikes. Engine. See- Engine bikes- Right... and electric bikes are motorcycles.
7:16
Well, an electric- And then analog... it's a... Right. It's an electric motor. A car doesn't really have a motor, it has an engine. Well, it does have a couple of motors too.
7:24
Yeah, some motors are m- on the engine, but right. Right. Exactly. Right. So. So it's a motor, it's a motor bicycle is a, an e-bike. A engine cycle is a motorcycle. With a- And then-... with a gas or other- Yeah...
7:37
fossil fuel powered motor. And the analog bike is human powered. Gotcha. Motorcycle. Let's make sure that- And, but wait, I have to interrupt for just a second. You have to interrupt yourself?
7:46
I, well, Greg was about to talk. [laughs] JK, JK, could you comment on the hotdog special at Swinging Door last Wednesday? That was [coughs]... Be s- It had to be weird, but it also sounds freaking delicious.
8:01
It was a m- mac and cheese [sighs] that was coated in Fritos. It was like taking a log of mac and cheese and r- and rolling it in Fritos and then like baking it for a while. So it is as good as I thought it was. Yeah.
8:18
[laughs] And then like kind of a pep- uh, like a pico de gallo kinda relish- Oh my gosh... on the top. It was, it was very good. Don't ever send me links like that again. It was very good. [laughs] I was crying.
8:30
It was very good, but it was very confusing to eat. But you know, I, I soldiered on and made, made it happen. [laughs] Good job. The ribs also sounded really interesting. Yeah, yeah. Buffalo ribs? I don't know.
8:43
Yeah, buffalo ribs. That sounds really weird and- Seems a little heartburn-y to me... I, I'm fine with that. That's what they have medications for. Fair enough. Sorry, I've digressed. Yeah. [laughs] But anyway.
8:55
I was just gonna- Whoa... refer to Willie Porter once more and say he's kinda known outside Milwaukee just a little bit. He's kind of a famous guy. Yeah, he is.
9:02
So all over the world they know that Willie Porter character. He also loves dogs, in case you didn't know that. He does a lot of work with Mattock. I think we could get him on the show.
9:09
We should try to get him on the show. It might be fun. His latest album's got a bicycle on the damn cover. Why not? Well, we gotta get him on the show. The Ravine. You can get it on all your streaming platforms.
9:20
[laughs] Wait, someone contact Miller. All right. Speaking of streaming platforms, you know there's this thing called Spotify? I don't know what it is. Yeah. Some kinda thing out there. My wife uses it. Yeah. I don't.
9:30
But anyway- [laughs]... uh, our good buddy Big Sexy sent me a, a Facebook Messenger message the other day with, uh,
9:40
a story that he submitted to a podcast that's on Spotify, which is called, I'll be danged if I can remember so I'm gonna look at the dang old thing. W- Witches. Encounters- The thing I found in the shadow...
9:50
En- Encounters of a Witch. Oh. Episode number 102. The link is in the show notes. He submitted a story and whoever does the podcast is reading it.
10:01
It's, it's called, his, his one is called The W- The Widow That Almost Joined Him, by Jason, Big Sexy, Beckhouse. Hmm.
10:11
So, uh, it's seven minutes and 20 seconds into the episode if you wanna just go and check it out and listen to what Big Sexy had to say about a story about dang old something supernormal, paranormal, and normal.
10:20
Would it be in the show notes? The link is in the show notes. Nice. We did, uh, we did listen to some of it before the show and- Yeah?...
10:28
kinda s- w- we're right at the, uh, the exciting part and we had- Yeah, it sounds creepy... we had to start the show, so. Just for you- Maybe we'll go back... radio listener. Yeah, we'll go back.
10:35
And speaking of Spotify, I had thrown back up the, uh, show from last week and I just threw a playlist together of the references. [laughs] Oh, nice.
10:46
'Cause I was like, right out of the gate, I, I think it was Off Mike, I didn't even put that one on there, but I had thrown it on, uh, uh, Fishbone Modern Industry was stuck in my head. They are a modern industry.
10:57
And then a- as I did that I was just like jotting crap down, and then I listened to the show again. I actually listened to the show. Me too. [laughs] Yeah. Who's that noise? Wow. And then tossed in those, so. Nice.
11:08
So- You can find that on your social platforms... well, yeah, I guess I'll have to go, I can, I can stick that into the- Yeah... show notes from last week too. Put that into the notes so I can listen to that too. Right.
11:16
Yeah. It's on my face place, pace, play, pace, place, wall. Wall? Yeah. [laughs] I don't know. I don't know how- Whatever it's called... again, another thing I don't know how it works, Facebook, so much, but.
11:28
My, my buddy was at Skinny Puppy on Monday night. Oh my. That would be a- The blues- Skinny?... in Chicago. Ah. God, I haven't been to that venue- Oh, The House of Blues?...
11:38
House of Blues in Chicago- That's a great venue down there... forever. Some Red Rocker. Pe- Pe- uh, Peter Hook.
11:44
[laughs] Speaking of music, since I've digressed again, Peter Hook is playing at The Riviera in El- in, in the Chicagos, and that's a great venue to see a show. Right on.
11:56
Yeah, I've seen him in Milwaukee, Madison, and I should see him in another venue. I, I could do that, right? Probably Minneapolis. I haven't seen him in- [laughs] I saw him in Milwaukee.
12:03
I have n- not seen him in Madison. Madison. Sylvie? Uh, Majestic. Oh, yeah. Wow. Nice. [laughs] That's a good show.
12:11
One of my favorite venues that doesn't seem to get much love since Sylvie opened up, but- Yeah, some, you just m- we're interested- It's because fucking-... in some show at the Sylvia in 2025 or something...
12:21
Live Nation fucking- Yeah. Yeah... owns everything Yeah, that's a thing Fuckers. Yeah. That's... Ra, ra, ra, ra, ra. Oh, yeah. McCluskey's coming. Oh, really? Well, that, that's what I'm excited about for
12:33
March of next year. [laughs] Oh, okay. With- So they're, they're either coming... It's- With- with Dropkick Murphys, right? [laughs] No. Oh. No, no, no. I thought they were co- co-thinging. No, this one is...
12:45
Yeah, this band is... They were like one, one album and f- they were like, "Fuck you," [laughs] to everyone, to everyone within the band too. [clears throat] Capital. The good stuff. Right on. Right on.
13:03
Uh, what do we got down here? Tony's... Right. What's this all about, Tony? Road Bike Rider. What, what's roadbikerider.com? That's one I haven't- It-... come across before. [laughs] Yeah. It's a website about...
13:14
It, I, as soon as I saw the post and, like, how to train during the off-season, I'm like, well, for starters, don't have an off-season. [laughs] Just ride your fucking bike. [laughs] I'm like, what?
13:24
But that- How to prepare- It happens every year about this time- Right... is that- Right...
13:29
you know, it's a lot harder on your bike when you're riding it on a trainer than when you're riding it outside, so make sure it's maintained well, and then you sweat all over the thing, and it gets all rusty and you're...
13:37
Of course, most bikes are plastic. And they're not gonna get rusty. Yeah. Plastic. 'Cause they're riding- Plastic... carpet fiber or- Road Bike-... aluminum. Mistake one. Mm-hmm. You ride a road bike.
13:47
[laughs] Well, yeah, one of the, one of the first th- Full disclosure- When I was in- I didn't even bother reading the article.
13:53
I just saw it, copied it, and sent it to my email address so I could put it in the show notes... when I was in my 20s, I'd stop riding around Halloween. Click. Gone. Gone. [laughs] Tear. How can I tear up my phone?
14:07
Um- Right? Oh, is that right on the... Is that the first thing? Yeah. The first sentence? Of number one, yeah. Oh, boy. [laughs] Okay. Well, might have to read it just so... Hey, Chewy, read that.
14:18
Do, do, do a synopsis- [laughs]... of it for us, uh, in your next show and, uh, let us know what you think of- It would have to be a [laughs] two-part episode.
14:25
[laughs] I can't even get through number five without blowing a fucking gasket. I bet there's a hole in my wall. [laughs] Oh, boy. Good stuff. What's ne- what? Liquidation sale? What? Oh, everything must go.
14:40
That one's even more hilarious. Let's take these cars out. Mm-hmm. Is that the Huffy one? Look at the Huffy fat bike for...
14:45
Some fools actually paid, like, way too much money for that, and it's still way too much money at $450. Mm. An electric fat bike? It's an electric Huffy. It's the, uh- Oh, yeah... special edition, uh, Panama what?
14:59
Panama Jack. Panama Jack. Yeah. Oh, no. It's got a bottle opener. It's got a koozie. It's- It's got some hideous steel wheels.
15:07
It's a pile of sh- [laughs] Heck, that 48-volt battery might almost be worth- Well, right, that's probably [laughs]... $419... that. That's what I thought too.
15:14
Get that f- get that 500-watt hub motor- Might, that battery might be worth it... and that battery and all that, and you can, you can take that- Throw the rest of the bike away...
15:19
you take that frame and send it to the scrapper. Hey, look at this. It's- Look... it's got a bottle opener on it. Mm-hmm. It's actually in a useful spot though on it, [laughs] on the fork leg. Yeah. [laughs] Oh.
15:31
I believe if you- Oddly enough... I believe you roll through the, the photos too, it has a handlebar mount insulated bag for your beverages too. Uh- Oh, see, that might be worth that $419. What's that other thing?
15:42
Is that a radio? [laughs] I don't know. The, the, the blue thing. I don't know. It, it's- It is joke-worthy all day long.
15:48
It's- Yeah, it's all- It's almost worth chipping together, buying one just to see how bad it is, and then, like, making a YouTube video out of it. How fast can we break it? If we had a, if we had a, like,
15:59
200,000 YouTube visitors- Yeah, we could do it... for that, we could make- We could do it... enough money to pay for the bike. Huffy makes a good, uh- [laughs] Nothing? No. It makes a good, uh, uh, can holder.
16:09
There you go. Mountable. Uh, Kim has one on her fatty. State? Her, yeah, her fatty. State? Fatty. Oh, yeah. It's a State. It's a State. It's a State. It's a- What was that, what was that one called? It's a- The Megalith.
16:22
Megalith. Yes. State Megalith. But yeah, she... Well, is this the same kind? Well, maybe they've changed their... But, um, I don't know.
16:31
It was kind of for, like, 10 bucks at, like, Dick's Sporting Goods or something like that. Right. And it is, it's very good. How much is that thing? Four- $419. It's almost worth driving through the winter.
16:41
There's a link in- Regular price- There's a link in the show notes... regular price, 19 buckie. 19 buckie. [laughs] It's, uh, it's aluminum too, so yeah. Oh, yeah. Right? It's got a great w- Denim, denim blue.
16:52
It's a perfect win- winter bike. Okay. So should we just order one right now? Oh, my God. It's, I didn't even think about it until just now. I like the rack. I'm in, I'm in for- It's got, like, it's- I'm in for 100.
17:02
[laughs] It's like the accoutrement is kind of like, all right. Um, it m- it- Yeah, the cooler.
17:09
[laughs] So the, so the very first person that commented on it did give it five stars, but said it was damaged when it got- Right... there. That's what they're all saying.
17:16
And it was just the, everything was scratched and dinged and whatever, but, uh, I don't know. I don't have it. I declined- Still there... the delivery as it was damaged. I will buy one if it becomes available again.
17:30
[laughs] Yeah. Again. Again, yeah- Mm... apparently. Oh, and you get, if you click on the link, you can get 15% off too. Wow. [laughs] Another 60 bucks off? Right. [laughs] I, this is seeming better at, and better. Well-
17:47
Oh, God, that's serious. Don't do it yet. No, I, I'm, I'm ready to push the buy button. [laughs] 71 pound. 71, Chewy. 71. 71. Oh, 71. Wait. Yeah. 071. 070.
18:02
Oh, always, always the, 71 is in the O column in your- Just pedal... on your Bingo sheet. [laughs] Just pedal to engage the boost of power and fun Okay Oh, Lord How much more time can we spend on this thing?
18:16
I- Oh, Lord... we could, could finish the rest of the show off on this silly bike. So- This is Panama Jack, baby. Yeah. Yeah. Is that- Panama Jack... what is Panama Jack?
18:23
Isn't that, like, a s- glasses brand or something? I- it's some sort of- You'll find-... former surfing Hawaii thing Yeah, you'll find it over by our Camp Beverly Hills, uh- Right...
18:33
sweatshirts over there and the Z Cavaricci jeans, next to the Varney glasses [bell ringing] and, uh, Drakkar Noir and our- There we go... perform. Thank God we had that electric- [laughs] Sweatshirt...
18:43
assisted Huffy to get to the top of the hill today. Right, we wouldn't have made it otherwise. 'Cause we're ca- It's a steep one... 'cause we're carrying Pabst Blue Ribbon today, baby. Hell, yeah. In honor of Big Sexy,
18:53
when he can't find hams. Gotta go with some Pabst. [laughs] Find some Pabst Blue Ribbon. I'm drinking that Extended Play N.A. and I s- I feel like a, oh [laughs]. I'm drinking the hoity-toity around here. Extended Play.
19:06
Yes, you've [laughs] How, how long has it been since you've dabbled in, deep into the, uh, the Boozal? [sighs] Three, three months? Uh, let's see. Where is it? Long enough that you don't have to count the days anymore.
19:17
That's exciting. Right? What does it say? I got the little- I coulda, I coulda used that-... little Trapper... the other day probably 103. Oh, nice. Do you- 103 days. Nice... do you have a, do you have a tracker apper?
19:28
Kinda. Kind of a tracker app? Just throw it on there. It apparently... Well, yeah, it's got, like, inspirational quotes or whatever. Nothing that really inspires [laughs] but I don't know.
19:39
There's, there's a lot of stuff- [coughs] There's a lot of stuff going on. You got your Movember. If I had to do, uh, too many other things, I don't know how I'd find the time. Oh, yeah, No Shave Ember or something.
19:48
Yeah, or [clears throat] - Yeah... I think that, that was just coincidental. I just shaved, like, at the end of [laughs] October, and I just haven't since. Yeah. Um, [laughs] why not?
19:58
Where- It does, it, it goes, it goes all the way through the end of November. That's November 30th, folks. Yes, yes. That's right before the Santa Rampage. That's right. Yes.
20:08
Yes, we've mentioned these before, but they are coming up in December. Quickly we will go through them. Worldwide is your Global Fat Bike Day, December 2nd. Oh, yeah, and okay, now I know what I needed to factor into
20:22
that holy day. Of... The Citywide, it's the Milwaukee Santa Rampage. And- The Santa Cycle Rampage... English Beat play at- Oh, yeah. Turner... at, uh, Turner that night. So.
20:33
That's a lot of things going on on December 2nd, folks. Uh-huh. I've, I remember having to do this once before, and yeah, it was running around the city for a while and then making it a Goblin show. Oh, yeah.
20:47
[laughs] I was like, "I'm not gonna m- m-..." So- Not gonna miss that... so I'm not gonna miss English Beat again. Yeah. I won't. Well, if you miss Santa Rampage in Milwaukee, you can do it the 9th in Madison.
20:57
That would be easier. Or you can do it the 16th in Chicago. Here's something new on the calendar, folks. Uh-oh, here it comes. Shell Track Fat Bike Relay, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
21:06
Which is among the more fun events- Mm-hmm... in the fat bike racing world. It is no longer part of the Snow Crown Race Series.
21:13
It's kind of event unto itself, and going back to its roots a little bit more about having fun rather than being too much racey-racey. That's December 16th, Manitowoc. Manitowoc.
21:24
Here's something I noticed on the- That's right by Twivers. It's by Traverse. It is? Not, not far from Traverse. Uh, here's something I noticed on the old Facebook feed the other day.
21:33
That Huge Ass Series is already going on. Oh, my. It's not even snowing out yet, and they're racing fat bikes. And they're huge in it? To be fair- To be fair...
21:41
they did race at the Kettle Moraine South Unit, uh, Emma Carlin Mir John Trail. Sweet Lady Emma.
21:48
And you didn't really need a fat bike, so I don't know if Huge Ass is fat bike specific because I know Shannon took his daughter out there for their, her first- Oh, yeah, I did see that... Huge Ass event. Yep, yep.
21:58
But, uh- Shout out Shannon... so I think the next one is, like, early December, so maybe they'll get snow for the last couple at the end of the year, hopefully.
22:08
I guess I'm not certain about racing fat bikes on mountain bike trails when there's no snow 'cause nobody would think that it's gonna snow on November 11th, would they? I mean- Nah. Chances are pretty low...
22:22
it's, it's very unlikely, at least, at least in our recent, uh, climate change climate here in southeastern Wisconsin. But, uh, I don't know. I didn't even...
22:33
I could put a link in there, I guess, about the, uh, the Huge Ass Series 'cause it does traverse the state somewhat, and it actually goes down into the Illinois now. Illinois. Ah, yeah, the... What's his face? Uh, Doug,
22:48
old Dougie from, uh, up and under days. He does a lot of- Writing?... living and- Yeah... driving around the r- the region for the Wheel & Sprocket, and races and rides and support kind of thing.
23:03
I never really know- Yeah, yeah... exactly what he's doing, but I always see him at [laughs] you know- Yeah, they do a good job... a known vehicle with a vent.
23:09
Those Wheel & Sprocket people, they do a good job sporting a sport. Sporting a sport? Sporting a sport. Uh, so- That's where I got my first bicycle. Yeah. Bought my first bicycle.
23:19
Tried to buy something there- And had a damn hard time- Couldn't... getting my monies back when it broke. Oh. [laughs] Oh. [laughs] Wait a second. Sorry, Chris. Hold on.
23:29
[laughs] Rest in peace, but man, you were a- Wait a minute... tough nut to negotiate with, man. Is this a JRA story? Honestly, I was just riding along, and it kind of broke. [laughs] You know, my, my buddy Dan Kapinski,
23:42
the trick and the frame went pa-pa-pa. Oops. Well- I grew up in the Fox Valley, so- Was it a trick frame? Was it a frame that was supposed to be- Yes, it was a Diamondback... doing tricks? Silver Streak.
23:53
Oh, well, there you go. Well, you wouldn't expect that to break. Exactly. Did... Your buddy's a, a frame breaker. Yeah, but yeah, yeah. So you know, well, da, da, da, da. [laughs] Da, da, da, sure, yeah, yeah. All right.
24:07
I- Steal and hock it, I tell you. Right, right... I do need to tell you folks, here's something I was kind of gonna question both you guys about. Oh. Uh- So, uh, we got stuff to sell. We got a website.
24:17
You can go there, you can find some stuff we're just selling on the website. Yeah. Some good stuff. Good stuff. Uh, I have been listing a few select things on the Facebook Marketplace. Guess what sucks?
24:27
Facebook Marketplace. [laughs] Uh, it's just terrible. Is it? It c- it, it, like, creates a new chat for each one, for one, for each, uh... I- if somebody interacts with you.
24:38
A lot of them, uh, are from Bulgaria or, um, Estonia, I think I got one from. I do not think those are legit people looking to buy- N-... products. Probably not. Think they're spammy, very spammy. They could be spammy.
24:51
And I was thinking about doing, um, Facebook Marketplace for s- I mean, uh, Craigslist for some of this stuff locally, but I don't know. Just haven't had a whole lot of luck with the Craigslist.
25:01
It seems like everybody wants to beat you up. Like, "I'll give you, like, 10 cents on the dollar for that." Right. It's like, "Fuck off." Right.
25:10
Well, selling stuff is, selling stuff is hard, especially w- [laughs] you know, when we have stuff we wanna get rid of. So anyway, folks, uh, look at the website. We also have a, some stuff on, on the eBay there.
25:21
Wear a sandwich board at one of the winter markets. Yeah, I could do that. "Hi." Eh, I could put a lot more effort into it than that. Buy my wares. Buy my wares. Please. Here I am. Here I am. Buy my wares.
25:30
In the show notes, there is a fancy plugin for your WordPress site if you're so inclined to sell stuff on eBay. [clears throat] It's this, uh, plugin's called Auction Nudge.
25:40
It actually allows you to put a short code into your, whatever store you want, and it will pull all your Face- or your, uh, eBay s- sales that are ongoing into your page, which is kickass.
25:52
S- so you just say, "Go to my page. You can see all my Fa- my eBay stuff without searching eBay for my shit." Right. So there you go. You can do th- you can do it that way, too. Uh, yeah, anyway.
26:04
So the, [laughs] the day after, when I listened to the show, I noticed spoke about the, uh, uh, battery power bank 'cause you thought I had two phones. I did. Of course, I break it like the next day. Oh. Like [laughs]
26:20
like the, the... the thing just... I... m- user stupid error. I had it in my back pocket, both things, and I sat down. But so the adapter, like, broke off in there. Had to take a pliers to get it out.
26:32
But, but you're not a girl. Why do you put phone in your back pocket? [laughs] 'Cause I'm used to it there.
26:37
You gotta b- girls don't have front pockets, or if they do, they're, like, just basically, uh, you know, silk-screened pockets. Yeah, they hold the chads they don't need.
26:46
S- so when I'm going like this, and I'm riding, and I can, I have the- Uh. There, there's the volume. Oh. And there's the volume. Yeah. We got things that go on your strap for your backpack. Those are pretty sweet.
26:54
I don't have a backpack. You could put a- [laughs] You could put it on your belt. Put it on your belt. I'm telling you. So why don't you... Or here's what you do. You order- So I did. I ordered a new one.
27:04
And you sent the old one back and said it came broken. No, the window had- [laughs]... the window had closed- [laughs]... which, which kinda ticked me off. But of the, uh, t-...
27:14
And I ended up getting one I was kinda mocking in the show, the one with the little readout and all this other stuff. But it's got the dongles, and it's 20,000- BTU or amp hours or something like that. Yeah. Yeah.
27:25
So it's, like, twice as much capacity, which- So it's louder? [burps] And heavier, like all hell. Are you on your phone often enough during the day that you actually have to charge it during the day? No.
27:35
But if you have charging, uh, [laughs] charging anxiety like I do, it's like, "Oh my God, it's, it's nudging at 50%. I don't know," you know? So- I might miss something important. Who knows? I don't know. I... But, um,
27:50
I tried using... I did, like, a, a beta test of one of those, uh, speakers, those, uh, EcoX... the speaker I use on my bike. Mm-hmm. Right. And I've got one that's beat the hell up. I mean, just cosmetically.
28:06
I can't do anything with it. I mean, it's eh. Yeah. So I linked it up to, uh, my computer and just had it running, and I was like, "You know what? I'm just gonna let this run and see how long it takes." 40 hours.
28:20
And it was actually playing the entire time? Yeah. That's, um, pretty impressive. And, and it was the WMSE stream. Oh, wow. So, you know, kudos on two fronts of that. [clears throat] Wow. Impressive. But it was...
28:31
Yeah, I was like, "Oh, I'm just gonna let this run and see how it, how long it takes." Look at the indicators. I'm like, "You gotta be kidding me." And it went off at, like, 3:00 in the morning. Nice. Of course.
28:41
[laughs] It started beeping and shit. Well, no, the... it was tethered outside. Oh. So I had, I had it playing out- outside, and once it broke, then the computer audio went on.
28:53
So all of a sudden, there's music coming from the other room. I was like, "Oh." Oh, of course. Like, "What the hell's going on?" So there was, like, a, a ghost in the other room to bring it all back together. Right.
29:02
Big sexy private story about that. Right. All right, everybody. Thank you very much for listening. Next week's gonna be show number 230. Yeah. Good damn. It will be. Good damn. Uh, that's a lot of shows.
29:14
But you know what it's not a lot of? I don't know. Yeah. Go see El Rongo tonight at High Dive. Show- Yeah? Oh, that's really close. At Cult of Nas- Nasty. That's really close by, so that's a good bet.
29:25
That'd be a good show. And Bronson Arrim from- All right... somewhere else. And bye-bye. Bye. Bye.
29:33
[upbeat rock music]
