- 0:28Today's show is all about prospective shifts and
- 0:31how they can offer peace and enjoy.
- 0:34I years ago had read the book, the
- 0:36notice
- 0:37by Andy Andrews. If you've never read this
- 0:39book, it's a short read, especially
- 0:42In the summer, it's a just such a
- 0:44beautiful book. He has so many great books.
- 0:46And, in the book, he
- 0:49has this character Jones,
- 0:51who is a homeless man,
- 0:54and he lives on the beach, and
- 0:56he and this
- 0:58character Andy
- 0:59after sharing a care of Diana sausage
- 1:02and a can of sardines that they eat
- 1:05together on a pier.
- 1:07Jones, the homeless man asks Andy, what he
- 1:10ate for lunch and Jones is like,
- 1:13what are you talking about? Like, I had
- 1:15Sardines and Vienna sausage, and he's, you know,
- 1:18kinda down on his life and the homeless
- 1:21man Jones
- 1:23says, well,
- 1:24for me, I dine on surf turf with
- 1:28a view by the ocean,
- 1:30and he explains to
- 1:32Andy that it's all about perspective.
- 1:35And the whole book is just... It's such
- 1:37an amazing book. I don't wanna give it
- 1:39away. No no more spoilers, that is such
- 1:42a
- 1:43huge takeaway for me from that book, and
- 1:45it's always just really sat with me. I
- 1:47read it. Gosh so long ago.
- 1:50The whole book has so many lessons in
- 1:53it, but the 1 that I'd like to
- 1:55pick part today is all about perspective.
- 1:59Perspective can go 2 ways really, just to
- 2:01keep it simple, we can choose love or
- 2:04fear.
- 2:05And when our intentions and actions are aligned
- 2:07with love, we feel grounded and flowing and
- 2:10abundant
- 2:11and connected to something bigger than ourselves,
- 2:14our spirit and God,
- 2:16And when we act from fear, we feel
- 2:19anxious, condemning, competitive, scares, guilty,
- 2:23disconnected from ourselves and god.
- 2:26Perspective is really...
- 2:27It's it's an attitude toward the way we
- 2:30look at our life,
- 2:32and it can change everything.
- 2:35Our attitude toward what has thrown our way
- 2:37really shifts how we show up, and it
- 2:39affects everybody around us, just like a butterfly,
- 2:42wings
- 2:43are felt across the world. It really matters
- 2:46the way that we perceive our life because
- 2:48it affects all the people around us, and
- 2:50it affects us.
- 2:52If you dislike something in your life,
- 2:55you can make some shifts today to alter
- 2:57your life, you have control over many aspects
- 3:00in your The biggest thing that we all
- 3:02have control over is
- 3:04our perspective.
- 3:06There's a quote by Dennis
- 3:08Did rot,
- 3:09and he says there are many things I
- 3:12can't force.
- 3:14I must adjust
- 3:16there are times when the greatest change needed
- 3:19is the change of my viewpoint. If the
- 3:22steps in your life seemed too hard to
- 3:24shift,
- 3:25the way that you see things is always
- 3:28shift.
- 3:29Years ago,
- 3:30I guess my oldest was probably about 9
- 3:33or 10, and we took a long trip
- 3:35to visit my father law, and we took
- 3:38boats and planes and fairies, and we met
- 3:40such cool people along the way,
- 3:43I'll never forget We met this family that
- 3:45was hiking
- 3:48the gold mine, and they had a bunch
- 3:49of kids, and I, was just amazed that
- 3:52they were gonna be off the grid with
- 3:54their kids with just their backpacks. I mean,
- 3:57I had such
- 3:58admiration for this family.
- 4:00And
- 4:01we play cards and we
- 4:04saw whales
- 4:06and on the fairies, we had beautiful views
- 4:10of
- 4:11lighthouse, and I had so much fun traveling
- 4:14there. I wasn't sad when we finally got
- 4:16to the destination because of course, we wanted
- 4:18to see my husband's dad, but I remember
- 4:22just
- 4:23it was the first time in my life
- 4:24that I really... I enjoyed the journey just
- 4:27as much as the destination, and
- 4:30This is the goal on life right to
- 4:32really
- 4:33enjoy the ride, like, truly enjoy the ride,
- 4:36and not always there's not always the lighthouse
- 4:39is out there. Sometimes there is the bumps,
- 4:41and the
- 4:42the rain
- 4:43when you're on the boat, you know,
- 4:46life is not always perfect.
- 4:48But our life has the trials and the
- 4:51amazing events, the big birthdays, by the way,
- 4:53my parents just
- 4:55We had a big celebration here, their 8,
- 4:58birthday and 6
- 5:00anniversary. Woo hoo, so amazing.
- 5:02It's the babies
- 5:04along the way. It's the sad days. All
- 5:06this stuff makes up our journey,
- 5:09and
- 5:09life is just a combo of all these
- 5:11things,
- 5:13and it is possible to enjoy
- 5:15all the things
- 5:17along the way, not that the sad times
- 5:19don't take a little bit to lick our
- 5:21wounds, and we need a little minute to
- 5:24get back on track. But
- 5:26we are in control of the way that
- 5:28we show up. If you want to make
- 5:30changes, it it is in your control to
- 5:32make changes,
- 5:33The biggest thing that we can always have
- 5:36control over and make changes with is our
- 5:38perspective and the way that we look at
- 5:40our life.
- 5:41And life is too precious to waste. Your
- 5:43life was meant to be used as an
- 5:45instrument to do something special. That doesn't mean
- 5:48that
- 5:49You have to be recognized by a thousand
- 5:51or, I guess, to be a million people.
- 5:53You don't have to have a job that
- 5:55in society stands nerds is amazing. Right now,
- 5:58whatever you do, maybe you're taking care of
- 6:01someone or you're working at Walmart, maybe baked
- 6:03cakes.
- 6:04Your makeup artists, whatever you do,
- 6:07whatever you wake up and do, you have
- 6:10control over your perspective
- 6:11and the way that you do what you
- 6:13do. And our perspective,
- 6:16alt,
- 6:17not only our lives, but all the people
- 6:19that we touch.
- 6:20Dale Carnegie wrote, The fool if he finds
- 6:24that life has handed him a lemon, he
- 6:27gives up and says, I am beaten. It
- 6:29is fate.
- 6:31I haven't a chance.
- 6:33Then he proceeds
- 6:34to rail against the world and indulge in
- 6:38self pity.
- 6:39But when the wise man is handed a
- 6:41lemon? He says,
- 6:43what lesson can I learn from this mis
- 6:45fortune?
- 6:46How can I improve my situation? How can
- 6:49I turn this lemon into lemonade?
- 6:51The answer is always the same.
- 6:54It's our perspective.
- 6:55I hope this helps. I hope together we
- 6:58can plant some seeds of resilience and joy.
- 7:01Have an amazing day.
