- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 2: The Rex was not chasing the Jeep. Murray! Murray, you there?
- 0:10Speaker 2: You love sandwiches, huh? Let's go to 80. His name
- 0:14Speaker 2: is Bo. Wow. That's prime time, baby. I had a
- 0:18Speaker 2: crush on Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 1: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 1: He cost them the game last night. Although they won
- 0:28Speaker 1: the game.
- 0:29Speaker 2: You're listening to Stugatz & Company.
- 0:32Speaker 1: It is Stugatz & Company presented by FanDuel and the
- 0:34Speaker 1: FanDuel Sportsbook.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Just me and Taylor today. Just the two of us.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And Tim Kirchner is going to join us in our
- 0:40Speaker 1: number two. I walked in this morning, Taylor, and Ricardo
- 0:44Speaker 1: was here. And he had a big smile on his
- 0:46Speaker 1: face because he loves baseball. I said, why are you smiling?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Why are you so happy? He said, Tim Kirchner's on today.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I mean, no one in sports media will do that
- 0:53Speaker 1: to you, right? Anyone else coming on today, I'm not
- 0:56Speaker 1: certain Ricardo is nearly as excited about you know, as
- 1:00Speaker 1: he is for Tim Kirchner joining us, it's set number two.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I told him to have baseball questions ready. What do
- 1:05Speaker 2: you think?
- 1:06Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:06Speaker 3: And he's allowed to ask questions too.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:08Speaker 3: That's big time.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Well, I gave him the option.
- 1:10Speaker 1: He can ask him himself or he can give me
- 1:12Speaker 1: the questions and I will ask them on behalf of
- 1:15Speaker 1: board op Ricardo.
- 1:16Speaker 2: So what do you think?
- 1:18Speaker 3: I like the idea of Ricardo asking questions, give it,
- 1:20Speaker 3: give him a chance to shine and see how he
- 1:23Speaker 3: does delivering his questions. But no, Tim Kirchner, Tim Kirchhen
- 1:26Speaker 3: is always going to move the needle for a certain
- 1:28Speaker 3: level of not only baseball fans, but fans of the
- 1:31Speaker 3: Levitard Show with Stu Gatz. When you hear Tim Kirchhen's name,
- 1:35Speaker 3: it's a name, it's a first-bout Hall of Famer in
- 1:38Speaker 3: names that just make you smile.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Ricardo, if I told you Aaron Rodgers was joining us
- 1:43Speaker 1: in hour number two, would you be more or less
- 1:45Speaker 1: excited than you are for Tim Kirchhen?
- 1:48Speaker 2: Way less excited.
- 1:49Speaker 3: I mean, Tim Kirchhen is a legend. He's been with
- 1:51Speaker 3: me since I was like 10 years old on Baseball
- 1:54Speaker 3: Tonight every night.
- 1:55Speaker 2: The guy's a legend.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Is there anyone in the NFL where I could tell
- 1:57Speaker 1: you they're coming on in hour number two and you'd
- 1:59Speaker 1: be more excited for them than you are for Tim Kirchhen?
- 2:02Speaker 3: No.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Is there anyone in the world? It'd be tough. It'd
- 2:08Speaker 2: be tough.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Kirchhen's definitely on the top of that list for sure.
- 2:12Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:12Speaker 2: How about Jeff Conant? Ooh, I love Niners.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Mr.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Marlin. Mr. Marlin. I mean... Taylor, did you laugh? So
- 2:19Speaker 2: Tim Kirscher will join us at hour number two. Did
- 2:21Speaker 2: you laugh yesterday?
- 2:23Speaker 1: The SEC, they voted as to whether or not once
- 2:27Speaker 1: a player becomes professional, a professional athlete, whether or not
- 2:31Speaker 1: they can go back to college. And obviously LSU is
- 2:34Speaker 1: right in the middle of all of this. Lane Kiffin,
- 2:36Speaker 1: of course, is in the middle of everything. But did
- 2:39Speaker 1: you laugh that the SEC announces, hey, we had a vote.
- 2:44Speaker 1: If you go pro, you can't come back and play
- 2:45Speaker 1: college football. It was a 16 to nothing vote in
- 2:50Speaker 1: favor of not allowing the kids to come back to college.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And while they were announcing that, their head coach Lane
- 2:57Speaker 1: Kiffin was on with McAfee announcing, hey, I'm going after
- 3:00Speaker 1: these guys.
- 3:01Speaker 2: He doesn't care. He's got a judge. I mean.
- 3:04Speaker 3: So I see both sides of this argument because one,
- 3:08Speaker 3: In terms of the 16-0 vote, most of these schools
- 3:11Speaker 3: just want to rule with the majority in their conference,
- 3:13Speaker 3: even if it's going against their team's self-interest. It's a
- 3:16Speaker 3: 16-team vote. You don't want the vote to be 15-1
- 3:19Speaker 3: and then you're the one sticking out like a sore thumb.
- 3:23Speaker 3: So I get, once you probably see the vote going 10-0, 11-0, 12-0,
- 3:26Speaker 3: LSU's going to kind of just fold their cards and
- 3:30Speaker 3: be like, okay, we're going to get on board with
- 3:31Speaker 3: this vote. But also, if you are Lane Kiffin, To
- 3:36Speaker 3: be fair to Lane Kiffin, the right strategy was to
- 3:39Speaker 3: take the players first and let somebody else decide whether
- 3:42Speaker 3: it was allowed later. It's better to ask for forgiveness
- 3:45Speaker 3: than it is for permission.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yes, Lane Kiffin is the sore thumb, though.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I mean, I know you're saying you don't want to
- 3:50Speaker 1: stick out like a sore thumb, but they kind of
- 3:52Speaker 1: are sticking out like a sore thumb, aren't they?
- 3:54Speaker 2: With their actions, not their words or their votes.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's not even just a football thing. This
- 3:59Speaker 3: is just an LSU philosophy right now because Will Wade,
- 4:02Speaker 3: their basketball coach that they got over from NC State,
- 4:05Speaker 3: Will Wade, all-time snake. You couldn't talk about a better
- 4:09Speaker 3: pairing or a better relationship than LSU and Will Wade.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Will Wade making his return to Baton Rouge.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:17Speaker 3: They're doing the same thing where they're going to the
- 4:19Speaker 3: Boston Celtics G League and finding Boston Celtics G Leaguers
- 4:22Speaker 3: and be like, guess what? You're coming to Baton Rouge
- 4:24Speaker 3: next year for our college basketball team. So this is
- 4:27Speaker 3: a Baton Rouge issue right now where their college basketball
- 4:30Speaker 3: coach is doing it, their college football coach is doing it,
- 4:32Speaker 3: And their administration is trying to look at everybody being like, hey,
- 4:36Speaker 3: I know we hired you guys, but you're kind of
- 4:38Speaker 3: making everybody look bad right now.
- 4:39Speaker 2: It seems like you're saying a couple of snakes are
- 4:41Speaker 2: cutting it up, huh?
- 4:43Speaker 3: Yeah, add Kim Mulkey to that.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Wow, a trifecta of snakes.
- 4:47Speaker 3: A holy trinity of snakes.
- 4:51Speaker 2: LSU doesn't give a bleep. They don't.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Louisiana's a different state. So LSU, I imagine, they're like, hey,
- 4:57Speaker 1: let's just vote. Kids can't come back to college once
- 5:00Speaker 1: they declare themselves for the NFL.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Just vote.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Just so we look good. Just so we're in line
- 5:05Speaker 1: with all the other teams in the SEC. We're going
- 5:07Speaker 1: to get our guys anyway. We got a judge.
- 5:10Speaker 2: We do. I mean, and his name's Lane Kiffin.
- 5:14Speaker 3: The judge, the juror, and the executioner.
- 5:16Speaker 2: And the sore thumb and a snake. And I love him.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin has to win in year one, right?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Wow. He doesn't have to win a year.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You don't go to the lengths you went to to
- 5:27Speaker 1: get Lane Kiffin and say to yourselves, well, what kind
- 5:31Speaker 1: of winning are we talking about?
- 5:32Speaker 2: Does he have to make the playoff?
- 5:33Speaker 3: I think he has to make the playoff.
- 5:35Speaker 2: And what happens if he doesn't make the playoff? You're
- 5:37Speaker 2: saying he's going to get fired?
- 5:39Speaker 3: Well, okay, you checkmated me there. I think from a perception,
- 5:44Speaker 3: he has to make the playoffs because he leaves Ole
- 5:47Speaker 3: Miss the way he left Ole Miss and he goes
- 5:49Speaker 3: to LSU. And LSU has the resources. He gets a
- 5:52Speaker 3: great quarterback in Leavitt to follow him to Baton Rouge.
- 5:57Speaker 3: So I don't think it's necessary he's going to get
- 6:00Speaker 3: fired if he doesn't make the playoffs. But public perception-wise,
- 6:04Speaker 3: I think Lane Kiffin has to make the playoffs to
- 6:07Speaker 3: justify LSU making this move to get him. At the
- 6:10Speaker 3: very least, let's play a game called middle ground.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Where we try to find middle ground.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Okay, so we're just searching around for middle ground. We're
- 6:20Speaker 1: giving opposite sides here. We're just trying to find some
- 6:22Speaker 1: middle ground here.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Okay. So I'm saying... What a ridiculous game. Anyway, go ahead.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I know, but it doesn't have to be a game.
- 6:29Speaker 2: We can just find middle ground. Well... Let's make it
- 6:32Speaker 2: a game. Yes.
- 6:33Speaker 3: This is the new game, middle ground.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:36Speaker 3: I'm saying LSU has to make the playoffs. You're saying
- 6:38Speaker 3: they don't have to make the playoffs. Middle ground? LSU
- 6:42Speaker 3: at least has to win at Ole Miss this year.
- 6:46Speaker 2: You're saying that's the middle ground.
- 6:48Speaker 1: That's the ground where if Lane Kiffin beats Mississippi but
- 6:51Speaker 1: doesn't make the playoffs, he's going to be fine.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I'm saying that they have to make the playoffs. You're
- 6:56Speaker 3: saying they don't have to make the playoffs.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Your middle ground is Mississippi.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Ole Miss.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Ole Miss is a must-win game. But if they beat Mississippi, okay?
- 7:05Speaker 1: I made this mistake with Ryan Day just last week
- 7:07Speaker 1: where I said he can go winless and still have
- 7:09Speaker 1: his job at Ohio State.
- 7:11Speaker 2: That would mean losing to Kent State.
- 7:13Speaker 1: And Ball State two of the first three weeks of
- 7:14Speaker 1: the season. So be careful in what you're saying here
- 7:17Speaker 1: because I am telling you, there is no need to
- 7:19Speaker 1: find middle ground in this scenario because Lane Kiffin, even
- 7:23Speaker 1: if he loses to Mississippi and doesn't make the playoff,
- 7:27Speaker 1: is going to be back as the LSU head coach
- 7:28Speaker 1: next year. So why are we seeking some sort of
- 7:31Speaker 1: middle ground when we don't need it?
- 7:33Speaker 2: I mean.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I really just wanted to attach the must-win label to
- 7:37Speaker 3: that Ole Miss game because that game is going to
- 7:40Speaker 3: be fireworks September 19th.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Oh, no doubt. At Ole Miss, right? Yeah.
- 7:45Speaker 3: If... If we were also playing the game, one game,
- 7:48Speaker 3: you could only go to one game this year in
- 7:50Speaker 3: college football.
- 7:50Speaker 2: That would be it?
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that would be an easy choice for me, LSU
- 7:54Speaker 3: at Ole Miss.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Indiana, Ohio State? Both teams are going to make the playoffs, though.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Two very solid teams, two very solid coaches. You have
- 8:05Speaker 3: a pretty good idea what Indiana is going to be,
- 8:07Speaker 3: even though they're replacing Fernando Mendoza. You have a pretty
- 8:10Speaker 3: good idea what Ohio State's going to be, being the
- 8:12Speaker 3: preseason number one team. But I think for my one game,
- 8:17Speaker 3: I need the flair of the SEC. I need the
- 8:20Speaker 3: pettiness of the Ole Miss coaches with your ex-Lane Kiffin
- 8:23Speaker 3: coming back to town. And then I think you just
- 8:25Speaker 3: need the fireworks that you're going to get in that game. Plus,
- 8:28Speaker 3: 7.30 p.m. kickoff.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Yeah, Texas-Ohio State jumps to mind. I mean, just one game.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I'm just thinking of one game. I'm not certain you're
- 8:36Speaker 1: not wrong. I think it probably is the one game, but...
- 8:40Speaker 1: You're getting your game out of the way early. I mean,
- 8:42Speaker 1: because then there's the next big game right after that
- 8:44Speaker 1: big game.
- 8:45Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 8:46Speaker 3: Well, you can only choose one.
- 8:47Speaker 2: But you can only go to one. You can watch
- 8:49Speaker 2: the other. You can just attend one. You would attend
- 8:52Speaker 2: that game. You would go to Mississippi.
- 8:54Speaker 1: You turn down a free trip to go to Ireland
- 8:57Speaker 1: to see North Carolina play.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Yeah, but they're. There's nothing appealing to me about an
- 9:03Speaker 3: international college football game.
- 9:05Speaker 2: You're right.
- 9:06Speaker 3: College football was meant to be played on campuses. College
- 9:09Speaker 3: football was meant to be played on the South. Yes,
- 9:12Speaker 3: I would rather go to the Grove in Oxford, Mississippi
- 9:15Speaker 3: than go to an eight-hour flight to Dublin, Ireland to
- 9:19Speaker 3: see North Carolina versus TCU in a non-conference game.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I mean, if North Carolina is going to be lousy
- 9:28Speaker 1: and lose by four touchdowns to TCU.
- 9:30Speaker 2: they might as well do it in another continent, right?
- 9:33Speaker 3: So you're doing this thing right now where you're saying
- 9:35Speaker 3: North Carolina is going to be lousy?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:37Speaker 3: I'm officially at the point of the week before a
- 9:40Speaker 3: week zero game where I'm fully convinced my team is
- 9:43Speaker 3: going to win.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Of course, that's what we do. Yes, I don't want
- 9:45Speaker 2: to say it, but I have the Jets in the playoffs.
- 9:48Speaker 3: I was looking at the spread earlier on FanDuel and
- 9:50Speaker 3: I saw TCU plus seven and a half.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Or TCU minus seven and a half, sorry. And I
- 9:55Speaker 3: was like, oh yeah, North Carolina, I'm going to put
- 9:57Speaker 3: North Carolina plus seven and a half in every parlay
- 10:00Speaker 3: this weekend imaginable. I think I'm going to sprinkle a
- 10:03Speaker 3: little on North Carolina money line.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:06Speaker 3: They're really doubting us, our offense. We're making an upgrade
- 10:10Speaker 3: at the quarterback position. Our defense was a lot better
- 10:13Speaker 3: than some metrics might suggest last year.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:15Speaker 3: And then I'm doing all this and I'm like, man.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 3: College football is here.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Oh, it's here. I mean, you have your top five
- 10:21Speaker 2: games for week zero. Are there five games?
- 10:25Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, there's a ton of games.
- 10:26Speaker 2: All right.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Before we get to those top five games, and again,
- 10:29Speaker 1: Tim Kerch, you're going to join us at hour number two.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Do you have the Carolina schedule in front of you?
- 10:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I do.
- 10:34Speaker 2: All right, let's do it.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Let's see if I can also convince myself that Carolina
- 10:39Speaker 1: is going to be good. Last year, I had them undefeated,
- 10:41Speaker 1: making the playoff and winning the national championship.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I believe when we did this, right? Yeah. All right,
- 10:46Speaker 2: so Carolina TCU, let's start there. It's on a neutral field.
- 10:50Speaker 2: It's in Ireland. Yeah. Carolina win. One and up.
- 10:53Speaker 3: You have it as a win. I have it as
- 10:54Speaker 3: a loss.
- 10:55Speaker 2: All right. Win for me. I heard Rich Eisen playing
- 10:59Speaker 2: this game. I was proud of him.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Week one.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:03Speaker 3: East Tennessee State.
- 11:05Speaker 2: That's a win. Two and oh.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I have one and one. All right. So they're going
- 11:08Speaker 3: to win that game. This next part of the schedule
- 11:11Speaker 3: is brutal.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but they have Belichick.
- 11:13Speaker 3: At Clemson.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I mean, Clemson hasn't been that good in a long time.
- 11:17Speaker 1: They haven't been great in a long time. I'm going
- 11:19Speaker 1: to say that's a win for Carolina. How about that?
- 11:22Speaker 3: Okay, I have them 1-2.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I got 3-0.
- 11:25Speaker 3: October 3rd, home against Notre Dame.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Wow.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Man.
- 11:32Speaker 2: You have to figure there's going to be a lot
- 11:34Speaker 2: on the line there, especially if Carolina's 3-0. A loss,
- 11:40Speaker 2: you could see. Yeah, Ricardo laughing. I'll give them a
- 11:43Speaker 2: loss there. 3-1 for North Carolina after four games.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Yep, I have a loss, 1-3. And then they're on
- 11:49Speaker 3: the road the next two weeks.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Wait a second. I thought you convinced yourself. I mean.
- 11:53Speaker 3: I'm starting to convince myself.
- 11:54Speaker 2: You're 1-3.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Go ahead. This prediction is official. So that's why I'm
- 11:59Speaker 3: going with a loss in the TCU game. At Pittsburgh.
- 12:02Speaker 2: That's a win, 4-1.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I have it as a loss, 1-4.
- 12:06Speaker 2: And by the way, that loss to Notre Dame, it's
- 12:08Speaker 2: a close game. It is. At Duke. Win. They lose Mensah.
- 12:15Speaker 2: He goes to Miami. It's a win for Carolina.
- 12:17Speaker 4: 5-1.
- 12:18Speaker 2: I have it as a loss. They are cruising to
- 12:20Speaker 2: the playoffs right now.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I have it as a loss. 1-5.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Versus Syracuse. One of the only teams North Carolina beat
- 12:28Speaker 3: last year, but reminder, that game against Syracuse last year,
- 12:32Speaker 3: they started a lacrosse player at quarterback.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Syracuse did.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Yes.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yes, Frank. Oh, man.
- 12:39Speaker 3: North Carolina escaped the carrier dome with a win.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Belichick would love a lacrosse player at quarterback. He would.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why he had an advantage against them.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Six and one.
- 12:48Speaker 3: I have it as a win. Two and five.
- 12:50Speaker 2: You're really convincing yourself. Go ahead.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Halloween matchup, October 31st. Home against the U, Miami.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 13:01Speaker 3: North Carolina historically has been good against Miami. This is
- 13:05Speaker 3: going to be a name-your-loss game. where if Miami wants
- 13:08Speaker 3: to beat North Carolina by 40 points, Miami has the
- 13:11Speaker 3: capability to do that. Two and six for me.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I'm at six and one. Miami, they're good. Mensah, he's good.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I'm staring at the TVs right now. Mike Greenberg's 30th
- 13:22Speaker 2: anniversary at ESPN.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I'm not certain my wife will be as excited for
- 13:27Speaker 1: our 30th anniversary than ESPN is for their 30th anniversary
- 13:31Speaker 1: with Greeny.
- 13:32Speaker 2: How about that?
- 13:33Speaker 3: She won't be.
- 13:35Speaker 2: If I make it.
- 13:35Speaker 3: I can say that definitively. She won't be. Sal Pal
- 13:38Speaker 3: brought out a band at Ravens training camp for Greeny.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I saw it.
- 13:42Speaker 1: The line I just gave to you, I actually sent
- 13:45Speaker 1: that text to Greeny, and he sent me back two
- 13:47Speaker 1: crying face emojis.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Not one, but two. Special, right?
- 13:52Speaker 3: Yeah, tip of the cap to Greeny.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Yeah, 30 years. Better than ever. I mean, he ain't
- 13:57Speaker 2: going anywhere. He hosts every show there.
- 13:59Speaker 3: I think he made a point to say, 30 years done.
- 14:03Speaker 3: I'm just getting started.
- 14:06Speaker 2: All right, I'm at 6-1. Miami?
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yep.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Wow.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I mean, Miami traditionally does not play well on Halloween.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I can tell you that much.
- 14:18Speaker 3: You've got numbers to back that up?
- 14:20Speaker 2: No, I was hoping that you might. I'm not certain
- 14:23Speaker 2: if they've ever played on Halloween. All right, fine. Six
- 14:29Speaker 2: and two.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I can't convince myself they're going to beat Miami, even
- 14:32Speaker 1: though the game's at home.
- 14:34Speaker 2: All right, six and two. You're looking up their Halloween record?
- 14:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm trying to.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Traditionally, very bad.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Looks like the last time they played... Actually, no.
- 14:43Speaker 2: This.
- 14:45Speaker 3: This Google search. I Googled Miami on Halloween, and the
- 14:49Speaker 3: first one it showed me was October 28th.
- 14:53Speaker 2: This might be the first time they ever play on Halloween?
- 14:56Speaker 3: Ricardo's showing me it says they're 4-3 when playing on Halloween.
- 14:59Speaker 2: That's what I'm telling you. I mean, not great.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Their last time that they played on Halloween was 2020.
- 15:06Speaker 3: They lost to Virginia Tech.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Yep.
- 15:09Speaker 3: 2015, they... beat Duke.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 15:12Speaker 3: That was the Cornelder.
- 15:17Speaker 2: The Mike Ryan, the fake Joe Zagacki.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Yeah, the eight lateral passes. That was a Halloween game.
- 15:22Speaker 3: That makes sense because that game was a little spooky
- 15:24Speaker 3: to it.
- 15:25Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. I mean, the Canes traditionally do
- 15:27Speaker 2: not play good. You know what?
- 15:28Speaker 3: They should have lost that game.
- 15:29Speaker 2: 7-1. How about that?
- 15:31Speaker 1: Big upset because losses don't matter as much anymore. The
- 15:34Speaker 1: Canes lose that game.
- 15:35Speaker 2: They're still going to make the playoffs. Carolina needs that game. 7-1.
- 15:38Speaker 2: How about that?
- 15:39Speaker 3: Alright, the next game is at UConn. Reminder, the last
- 15:43Speaker 3: time North Carolina played UConn was the Fenway Bowl. UConn
- 15:46Speaker 3: absolutely destroyed them. I'm going to go with a win, though.
- 15:52Speaker 2: 3-6.
- 15:52Speaker 1: 8-1.
- 15:57Speaker 2: What?
- 15:58Speaker 3: Last month of the season. Home against Louisville. 3-7.
- 16:02Speaker 2: 9-1.
- 16:05Speaker 3: At Virginia, the South's oldest rivalry.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Is Virginia good?
- 16:09Speaker 3: They're one of the most experienced teams in the country. Spoiler,
- 16:12Speaker 3: that might be one of my top games in Week 0.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I didn't ask if they had a bunch of seniors.
- 16:16Speaker 2: I just asked if they were any good.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Tony Elliott's deepest team so far in Charlottesville.
- 16:23Speaker 2: All right, 10-1. Belichick in his second season.
- 16:27Speaker 3: So I have 3-8. You have what, 10-1?
- 16:30Speaker 2: I do.
- 16:31Speaker 3: And then the rivalry game to close out the season is...
- 16:34Speaker 3: versus NC State. I have that as a loss.
- 16:36Speaker 2: 3-9.
- 16:37Speaker 1: No one cares about that rivalry, seriously, especially as it
- 16:40Speaker 1: relates to football. I mean, is NC State good this year?
- 16:46Speaker 3: Yeah. They're about as mediocre as you could get for
- 16:48Speaker 3: the ACC, so it's better than Carolina.
- 16:51Speaker 1: So I'll give a loss to Carolina there. They're coming
- 16:53Speaker 1: in 10-1. They already have a playoff spot secure. They're
- 16:56Speaker 1: going to rest some of their starters. It's not that
- 16:58Speaker 1: big of a game, not a big deal.
- 17:00Speaker 2: So they finish the season 10-2. How about that?
- 17:03Speaker 3: So I have Carolina finishing 3-9, which brings Bill Belichick's
- 17:07Speaker 3: college record to 7-17. North Carolina fires him, and hopefully
- 17:12Speaker 3: that's the end of the Bill Belichick experiment.
- 17:14Speaker 1: If I was right this year and was right this year,
- 17:18Speaker 1: if I was right last year combined with being right
- 17:20Speaker 1: this year, Belichick's career record would be 22-2.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Huzzah.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Those are numbers when he had Tom Brady as his quarterback.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Instead of Billy Edwards Jr. and Gio Lopez.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I know.
- 17:33Speaker 1: So I have him going 10-1. I see more convinced
- 17:36Speaker 1: that your team's going to be good than you are.
- 17:38Speaker 2: How about that?
- 17:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and the same thing was the case last year, too.
- 17:43Speaker 2: You were right. I was wrong.

- 19:23Speaker 1: What are your top five week zero games here before
- 19:26Speaker 1: we get to Tim Kirchard?
- 19:28Speaker 3: Hold on, I need my college football music. There it is.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Band. So they got a band for Greeny, huh? Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 3: He thought the band was actually just interrupting the live shot.
- 19:40Speaker 3: He was like, what are the, what a coincidence that
- 19:42Speaker 3: we're going to Sal Pal and there's a band performing.
- 19:45Speaker 3: And then Sal Pal had the band perform like the
- 19:48Speaker 3: ESPN theme song.
- 19:50Speaker 2: That's so cool.
- 19:51Speaker 1: He has to know, though, in that spot, that Sao
- 19:55Speaker 1: Paulo has his live shots mapped out, planned out. There's
- 19:58Speaker 1: no way a marching band is walking into a Sao
- 20:00Speaker 1: Paulo live shot. He had to know something was up
- 20:03Speaker 1: when he saw the marching band.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I mean, he had to.
- 20:06Speaker 3: If he did know something was up, he played it
- 20:08Speaker 3: off like he did not know.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Okay, all right.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Number five, week zero game.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Okay, so these are Taylor's top five week zero games
- 20:16Speaker 1: in college football.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Jax State versus North Dakota State.
- 20:22Speaker 2: It's a big one. It is a big one. It is.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Those are two sneaky good teams. I'm surprised they're playing
- 20:27Speaker 2: so early. I really am.
- 20:29Speaker 3: So this is a 5.30 game on CBS Sports Network
- 20:32Speaker 3: in the Fargo Dome in Fargo, North Dakota. It's a
- 20:36Speaker 3: 2015 FCS National Championship rematch. And the Bison, this is
- 20:41Speaker 3: their first game at the FBS level after a run
- 20:44Speaker 3: at the FCS level where they won 10 national championships.
- 20:46Speaker 3: How will the Bison do moving up a level?
- 20:49Speaker 2: Yeah. It's going to be interesting to see. Only to you.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Well, it's number five.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Number four, please.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Hawaii versus Stanford.
- 21:00Speaker 2: That would be number one for me. Is that game
- 21:02Speaker 2: being played in Hawaii?
- 21:04Speaker 3: No, it's being played at Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California,
- 21:07Speaker 3: 7 p.m. on the ACC network.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Okay, so the season doesn't really start until Hawaii plays
- 21:12Speaker 1: a home game at midnight Eastern, which I believe is
- 21:15Speaker 1: the following week.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Put it on the poll, Taylor.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Does the college football season start when Hawaii plays a
- 21:20Speaker 1: midnight Eastern home game?
- 21:22Speaker 3: So this is actually a rematch from last year, but
- 21:25Speaker 3: now Hawaii is making the trip to Stanford instead of
- 21:28Speaker 3: Stanford going to the island. This game came down to
- 21:31Speaker 3: the wire last year. Hawaii pulled out the win. They
- 21:34Speaker 3: returned their quarterback, Micah Ali-Hato, who's at the very least exciting.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Stanford stinks.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Andrew Luck, though.
- 21:44Speaker 3: And is he playing quarterback.
- 21:45Speaker 2: All of a sudden? No, he's a GM.
- 21:48Speaker 1: You have to think he's going to get it right
- 21:49Speaker 1: at some point, don't you? I guess you don't have
- 21:52Speaker 1: to think that. Why would you think that?
- 21:55Speaker 3: Yeah, unless he is recruiting himself to play quarterback, then
- 21:59Speaker 3: I am going to continue with the trend that Stanford
- 22:01Speaker 3: probably stinks.
- 22:02Speaker 1: All right, so you have the Rainbows winning on the
- 22:03Speaker 1: road there, huh?
- 22:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Off to a 1-0 start, and they host a big
- 22:08Speaker 2: midnight Easter game in week number two. How about that?
- 22:12Speaker 2: Or week one, I'm sorry. Game number three for you.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Top five week zero games for Taylor.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Memphis, UNLV.
- 22:19Speaker 2: That is a big, big game. The Running Rebels, how
- 22:22Speaker 2: about that?
- 22:24Speaker 3: So this is a 10 p.m. game on Fox at
- 22:27Speaker 3: UNLV Stadium where the Raiders play Legion Stadium.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:31Speaker 3: This, Stu, I think it's a week zero elimination game.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Really?
- 22:35Speaker 3: Because you're looking at the group of six playoff spot.
- 22:38Speaker 3: I don't think Memphis could afford a loss. I don't
- 22:40Speaker 3: think UNLV could afford a loss. Neither team has named
- 22:43Speaker 3: a starting quarterback yet. There's a chance in this matchup
- 22:46Speaker 3: we see four potential quarterbacks.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Really?
- 22:49Speaker 3: UNLV's coach is Dan Mullen.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Oh, wow. Yeah.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Well, he's been there for a little bit now.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Yes, but Dan Mullen means points are going to be scored.
- 22:57Speaker 2: No defense, but points are going to be scored.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Their quarterbacks are, if you remember, Alex Orji from Michigan.
- 23:04Speaker 3: He was just basically a running threat when Michigan could
- 23:07Speaker 3: not throw the ball at all. And then their other
- 23:09Speaker 3: quarterback is Jackson Arnold, the transfer from Oklahoma and Auburn.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Stunk at both of those spots, but moving down a
- 23:16Speaker 3: level should help him out.
- 23:18Speaker 2: You have two quarterbacks, Taylor. What's it mean?
- 23:21Speaker 3: You might be Memphis because Memphis also has two quarterbacks. Memphis'
- 23:26Speaker 3: battle is West Florida transfer Marcus Stokes and Stu.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:32Speaker 3: South Carolina transfer, one of the best names I've ever
- 23:35Speaker 3: heard for a quarterback.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Give it to me.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Air Noland.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Wow.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Wow. Wow. Wow.
- 23:41Speaker 3: I would name him starting quarterback just off that name.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Just off the name Air.
- 23:48Speaker 3: You can only play quarterback with the name Air Noland.
- 23:50Speaker 1: If I was choosing a quarterback to start on my team,
- 23:53Speaker 1: on my college football team, just based on name alone,
- 23:56Speaker 1: I could not see him play.
- 23:57Speaker 2: I have no idea who they are. I would pick him.
- 24:00Speaker 3: The only way that name could get better is if
- 24:02Speaker 3: it was Air Manning.
- 24:05Speaker 2: What's his name?
- 24:06Speaker 3: Air Noland.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Wow. Trying to think of Air Noland. Because Arch Manning
- 24:12Speaker 2: is a pretty good name. But Air Manning.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Oh, significantly better.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 24:21Speaker 3: What's Peyton Manning's son's name? Oh, Marshall Manning. Marshall Manning
- 24:24Speaker 3: is a great quarterback name. I think Marshall Manning is
- 24:26Speaker 3: a better quarterback name than Arch Manning.
- 24:28Speaker 2: No way. Marshall Manning? Yeah. The sheriff. Peyton's kid? Yeah.
- 24:36Speaker 2: No pressure on that kid.
- 24:41Speaker 3: His games are already televised on ESPN. I think he's
- 24:43Speaker 3: like a sophomore.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Really?
- 24:45Speaker 3: High school.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Hopefully we'll have a Marsh Manning, Arch Manning matchup in
- 24:53Speaker 1: the NFL one day. Your second, what game.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Are we on?
- 24:57Speaker 3: We're number two.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Number two.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Week zero.
- 25:01Speaker 3: We're going to Ireland. It's North Carolina, TCU.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Yeah, the game you didn't want to go to.
- 25:06Speaker 3: But I'll be watching.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Front row on my couch.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Right. I have Carolina winning that game, of course. We
- 25:12Speaker 2: already did that.
- 25:13Speaker 3: So I do think the numbers from last year are,
- 25:16Speaker 3: and this is why I was more on the fence
- 25:18Speaker 3: thinking that Carolina could win this game. The numbers are
- 25:22Speaker 3: a little skewed because North Carolina had some turnovers that
- 25:25Speaker 3: led to TCU easy points. TCU's quarterback is from Harvard,
- 25:29Speaker 3: so he's making the jump up to the FBS level.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:33Speaker 3: There's enough for me to think that North Carolina, at
- 25:36Speaker 3: the very least, has a chance. And this game is
- 25:39Speaker 3: normally a game where whoever loses the Ireland game, their
- 25:42Speaker 3: season never recovers. I think of the past five games,
- 25:45Speaker 3: only one of them has finished at least. 500, and
- 25:47Speaker 3: that was Kansas State last year, finishing 6-6. So you
- 25:51Speaker 3: don't want to lose this game. You don't want to
- 25:53Speaker 3: lose any game in college football, but you definitely don't
- 25:56Speaker 3: want to lose the game in Ireland. Long flight back.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Makes sense. So you're saying.
- 26:01Speaker 1: With Memphis and UNLV and North Carolina and TCU, they're
- 26:06Speaker 1: must-win games.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Loser should go home? Loser should stay in Ireland?
- 26:12Speaker 3: Loser, yes.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Loser's not making the playoffs? Yes.
- 26:14Speaker 3: I was going to say loser leaves town, but loser
- 26:17Speaker 3: stays in Ireland.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Because these are teams that can only afford one loss
- 26:20Speaker 1: to make it to the playoffs, is essentially what you're saying, right?
- 26:23Speaker 3: The Memphis-UNLV game.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Neither of those teams is getting it. Now I'm confused.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I shouldn't have went back to this game. I apologize
- 26:32Speaker 1: for doing so. I've confused everyone here.
- 26:34Speaker 3: I see your confusion. I can help you out here. Memphis, UNLV,
- 26:39Speaker 3: week zero elimination game.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Okay.
- 26:41Speaker 3: North Carolina, TCU is a loser won't go 500 game.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Got it. Okay. Thank you for clearing that up.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Your top game for week zero of the college football season.
- 26:53Speaker 3: We're going to a game that was originally set to
- 26:56Speaker 3: be played in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but was relocated
- 27:00Speaker 3: to Charlottesville because I think the powers that be realized,
- 27:03Speaker 3: why would anybody from NC State in Virginia go to
- 27:06Speaker 3: Rio de Janeiro to watch a college football game? It's
- 27:10Speaker 3: NC State, and it's Virginia.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think people would travel from Michigan
- 27:21Speaker 1: to see the Wolverines play in Rio de Janeiro.
- 27:25Speaker 3: It seems like the athletic directors got together and was like,
- 27:28Speaker 3: this is such a good idea. The first international game
- 27:31Speaker 3: in Brazil. And then they looked at ticket sales and
- 27:33Speaker 3: was like, yeah, nobody from Raleigh, North Carolina is getting
- 27:38Speaker 3: on this flight right now. And making the trip over.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Spend $ 10, 000 to see their lousy football team play another
- 27:45Speaker 1: lousy football team.
- 27:47Speaker 3: So the reason why this game is in the number
- 27:49Speaker 3: one spot, getting a conference game in week zero, it
- 27:52Speaker 3: feels crazy, but I kind of love it because you
- 27:56Speaker 3: have two teams that you don't really know what each
- 27:58Speaker 3: team is going to be. At the very least, these
- 28:01Speaker 3: teams are just average. There's nothing splashy about these two teams.
- 28:06Speaker 3: But the fact that they have to play a conference
- 28:08Speaker 3: game in Week 0 with so many unknowns, I do
- 28:10Speaker 3: like that element. NC State has the quarterback advantage here.
- 28:14Speaker 2: C.J.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Bailey, his third year as the starter, is a 3,000-yard
- 28:18Speaker 3: passer for the Wolfpack. And then Virginia's quarterback, as I
- 28:22Speaker 3: mentioned before, one of the deepest teams that Tony Elliott's had,
- 28:25Speaker 3: their quarterback, Former Penn State quarterback and former Missouri quarterback,
- 28:31Speaker 3: Bo Perbula.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Rolls right off the tongue, yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 3: That mistake is going to keep me up later.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Let me hear you try it again.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Bo Perbula. I knew it was Bo Perbula.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Yeah, redemption though. You just got it. Keep it all
- 28:45Speaker 2: in there. It's going to keep you up at night.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Yeah. Just a bad mistake.
- 28:51Speaker 1: That's why they call it week zero. I mean, if
- 28:53Speaker 1: I'm being honest... I'm interested in zero of these games.
